Programs & Examples On #Viewcontext

Get current controller in view

I do it like this, but perhaps it's only ASP.NET MVC 4

@ViewContext.RouteData.Values["controller"]

The type must be a reference type in order to use it as parameter 'T' in the generic type or method

I can't repro, but I suspect that in your actual code there is a constraint somewhere that T : class - you need to propagate that to make the compiler happy, for example (hard to say for sure without a repro example):

public class Derived<SomeModel> : Base<SomeModel> where SomeModel : class, IModel
                                                                    ^^^^^
                                                                 see this bit

ASP.NET MVC Razor: How to render a Razor Partial View's HTML inside the controller action

I saw that someone was wondering how to do it for another controller.

In my case I had all of my email templates in the Views/Email folder, but you could modify this to pass in the controller in which you have views associated for.

public static string RenderViewToString(Controller controller, string viewName, object model)
    {
        var oldController = controller.RouteData.Values["controller"].ToString();

        if (controller.GetType() != typeof(EmailController))
            controller.RouteData.Values["controller"] = "Email";

        var oldModel = controller.ViewData.Model;
        controller.ViewData.Model = model;
        try
        {
            using (var sw = new StringWriter())
            {
                var viewResult = ViewEngines.Engines.FindView(controller.ControllerContext, viewName,
                                                                           null);

                var viewContext = new ViewContext(controller.ControllerContext, viewResult.View, controller.ViewData, controller.TempData, sw);
                viewResult.View.Render(viewContext, sw);

                //Cleanup
                controller.ViewData.Model = oldModel;
                controller.RouteData.Values["controller"] = oldController;

                return sw.GetStringBuilder().ToString();
            }
        }
        catch (Exception ex)
        {
            Elmah.ErrorSignal.FromCurrentContext().Raise(ex);

            throw ex;
        }
    }

Essentially what this does is take a controller, such as AccountController and modify it to think it's an EmailController so that the code will look in the Views/Email folder. It's necessary to do this because the FindView method doesn't take a straight up path as a parameter, it wants a ControllerContext.

Once done rendering the string, it returns the AccountController back to its initial state to be used by the Response object.

How to render an ASP.NET MVC view as a string?

you are get the view in string using this way

protected string RenderPartialViewToString(string viewName, object model)
{
    if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(viewName))
        viewName = ControllerContext.RouteData.GetRequiredString("action");

    if (model != null)
        ViewData.Model = model;

    using (StringWriter sw = new StringWriter())
    {
        ViewEngineResult viewResult = ViewEngines.Engines.FindPartialView(ControllerContext, viewName);
        ViewContext viewContext = new ViewContext(ControllerContext, viewResult.View, ViewData, TempData, sw);
        viewResult.View.Render(viewContext, sw);

        return sw.GetStringBuilder().ToString();
    }
}

We are call this method in two way

string strView = RenderPartialViewToString("~/Views/Shared/_Header.cshtml", null)

OR

var model = new Person()
string strView = RenderPartialViewToString("~/Views/Shared/_Header.cshtml", model)

How can I return the current action in an ASP.NET MVC view?

Use the ViewContext and look at the RouteData collection to extract both the controller and action elements. But I think setting some data variable that indicates the application context (e.g., "editmode" or "error") rather than controller/action reduces the coupling between your views and controllers.

Case statement with multiple values in each 'when' block

In a case statement, a , is the equivalent of || in an if statement.

case car
   when 'toyota', 'lexus'
      # code
end

Some other things you can do with a Ruby case statement

How do I add an "Add to Favorites" button or link on my website?

I have faced some problems with rel="sidebar". when I add it in link tag bookmarking will work on FF but stop working in other browser. so I fix that by adding rel="sidebar" dynamic by code:

jQuery('.bookmarkMeLink').click(function() {
    if (window.sidebar && window.sidebar.addPanel) {
        // Mozilla Firefox Bookmark
        window.sidebar.addPanel(document.title,window.location.href,'');
    }
    else if(window.sidebar && jQuery.browser.mozilla){
        //for other version of FF add rel="sidebar" to link like this:
        //<a id="bookmarkme" href="#" rel="sidebar" title="bookmark this page">Bookmark This Page</a>
        jQuery(this).attr('rel', 'sidebar');
    }
    else if(window.external && ('AddFavorite' in window.external)) {
        // IE Favorite
        window.external.AddFavorite(location.href,document.title);
    } else if(window.opera && window.print) {
        // Opera Hotlist
        this.title=document.title;
        return true;
    } else {
        // webkit - safari/chrome
        alert('Press ' + (navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf('mac') != - 1 ? 'Command/Cmd' : 'CTRL') + ' + D to bookmark this page.');

    }
});

UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 23: ordinal not in range(128)

When you get a UnicodeEncodeError, it means that somewhere in your code you convert directly a byte string to a unicode one. By default in Python 2 it uses ascii encoding, and utf8 encoding in Python3 (both may fail because not every byte is valid in either encoding)

To avoid that, you must use explicit decoding.

If you may have 2 different encoding in your input file, one of them accepts any byte (say UTF8 and Latin1), you can try to first convert a string with first and use the second one if a UnicodeDecodeError occurs.

def robust_decode(bs):
    '''Takes a byte string as param and convert it into a unicode one.
First tries UTF8, and fallback to Latin1 if it fails'''
    cr = None
    try:
        cr = bs.decode('utf8')
    except UnicodeDecodeError:
        cr = bs.decode('latin1')
    return cr

If you do not know original encoding and do not care for non ascii character, you can set the optional errors parameter of the decode method to replace. Any offending byte will be replaced (from the standard library documentation):

Replace with a suitable replacement character; Python will use the official U+FFFD REPLACEMENT CHARACTER for the built-in Unicode codecs on decoding and ‘?’ on encoding.

bs.decode(errors='replace')

Safe Area of Xcode 9

enter image description here

  • Earlier in iOS 7.0–11.0 <Deprecated> UIKit uses the topLayoutGuide & bottomLayoutGuide which is UIView property
  • iOS11+ uses safeAreaLayoutGuide which is also UIView property

  • Enable Safe Area Layout Guide check box from file inspector.

  • Safe areas help you place your views within the visible portion of the overall interface.

  • In tvOS, the safe area also includes the screen’s overscan insets, which represent the area covered by the screen’s bezel.

  • safeAreaLayoutGuide reflects the portion of the view that is not covered by navigation bars, tab bars, toolbars, and other ancestor viewss.
  • Use safe areas as an aid to laying out your content like UIButton etc.

  • When designing for iPhone X, you must ensure that layouts fill the screen and aren't obscured by the device's rounded corners, sensor housing, or the indicator for accessing the Home screen.

  • Make sure backgrounds extend to the edges of the display, and that vertically scrollable layouts, like tables and collections, continue all the way to the bottom.

  • The status bar is taller on iPhone X than on other iPhones. If your app assumes a fixed status bar height for positioning content below the status bar, you must update your app to dynamically position content based on the user's device. Note that the status bar on iPhone X doesn't change height when background tasks like voice recording and location tracking are active print(UIApplication.shared.statusBarFrame.height)//44 for iPhone X, 20 for other iPhones

  • Height of home indicator container is 34 points.

  • Once you enable Safe Area Layout Guide you can see safe area constraints property listed in the interface builder.

enter image description here

You can set constraints with respective of self.view.safeAreaLayoutGuide as-

ObjC:

  self.demoView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = NO;
    UILayoutGuide * guide = self.view.safeAreaLayoutGuide;
    [self.demoView.leadingAnchor constraintEqualToAnchor:guide.leadingAnchor].active = YES;
    [self.demoView.trailingAnchor constraintEqualToAnchor:guide.trailingAnchor].active = YES;
    [self.demoView.topAnchor constraintEqualToAnchor:guide.topAnchor].active = YES;
    [self.demoView.bottomAnchor constraintEqualToAnchor:guide.bottomAnchor].active = YES;

Swift:

   demoView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false
        if #available(iOS 11.0, *) {
            let guide = self.view.safeAreaLayoutGuide
            demoView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: guide.trailingAnchor).isActive = true
            demoView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: guide.leadingAnchor).isActive = true
            demoView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: guide.bottomAnchor).isActive = true
            demoView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: guide.topAnchor).isActive = true
        } else {
            NSLayoutConstraint(item: demoView, attribute: .leading, relatedBy: .equal, toItem: view, attribute: .leading, multiplier: 1.0, constant: 0).isActive = true
            NSLayoutConstraint(item: demoView, attribute: .trailing, relatedBy: .equal, toItem: view, attribute: .trailing, multiplier: 1.0, constant: 0).isActive = true
            NSLayoutConstraint(item: demoView, attribute: .bottom, relatedBy: .equal, toItem: view, attribute: .bottom, multiplier: 1.0, constant: 0).isActive = true
            NSLayoutConstraint(item: demoView, attribute: .top, relatedBy: .equal, toItem: view, attribute: .top, multiplier: 1.0, constant: 0).isActive = true
        }

Passing a callback function to another class

You could use only delegate which is best for callback functions:

public class ServerRequest
{
    public delegate void CallBackFunction(string input);

    public void DoRequest(string request, CallBackFunction callback)
    {
        // do stuff....
        callback(request);
    }
}

and consume this like below:

public class Class1
    {
        private void btn_click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
            ServerRequest sr = new ServerRequest();
            var callback = new ServerRequest.CallBackFunction(CallbackFunc);
            sr.DoRequest("myrequest",callback);
        }

        void CallbackFunc(string something)
        {

        }

    }

JavaScript blob filename without link

The only way I'm aware of is the trick used by FileSaver.js:

  1. Create a hidden <a> tag.
  2. Set its href attribute to the blob's URL.
  3. Set its download attribute to the filename.
  4. Click on the <a> tag.

Here is a simplified example (jsfiddle):

var saveData = (function () {
    var a = document.createElement("a");
    document.body.appendChild(a);
    a.style = "display: none";
    return function (data, fileName) {
        var json = JSON.stringify(data),
            blob = new Blob([json], {type: "octet/stream"}),
            url = window.URL.createObjectURL(blob);
        a.href = url;
        a.download = fileName;
        a.click();
        window.URL.revokeObjectURL(url);
    };
}());

var data = { x: 42, s: "hello, world", d: new Date() },
    fileName = "my-download.json";

saveData(data, fileName);

I wrote this example just to illustrate the idea, in production code use FileSaver.js instead.

Notes

  • Older browsers don't support the "download" attribute, since it's part of HTML5.
  • Some file formats are considered insecure by the browser and the download fails. Saving JSON files with txt extension works for me.

Java Calendar, getting current month value, clarification needed

Calendar.getInstance().get(Calendar.MONTH);

is zero based, 10 is November. From the javadoc;

public static final int MONTH Field number for get and set indicating the month. This is a calendar-specific value. The first month of the year in the Gregorian and Julian calendars is JANUARY which is 0; the last depends on the number of months in a year.

Calendar.getInstance().get(Calendar.JANUARY);

is not a sensible thing to do, the value for JANUARY is 0, which is the same as ERA, you are effectively calling;

Calendar.getInstance().get(Calendar.ERA);

Mongoose limit/offset and count query

After having to tackle this issue myself, I would like to build upon user854301's answer.

Mongoose ^4.13.8 I was able to use a function called toConstructor() which allowed me to avoid building the query multiple times when filters are applied. I know this function is available in older versions too but you'll have to check the Mongoose docs to confirm this.

The following uses Bluebird promises:

let schema = Query.find({ name: 'bloggs', age: { $gt: 30 } });

// save the query as a 'template'
let query = schema.toConstructor();

return Promise.join(
    schema.count().exec(),
    query().limit(limit).skip(skip).exec(),

    function (total, data) {
        return { data: data, total: total }
    }
);

Now the count query will return the total records it matched and the data returned will be a subset of the total records.

Please note the () around query() which constructs the query.

How abstraction and encapsulation differ?

my 2c

the purpose of encapsulation is to hide implementation details from the user of your class e.g. if you internally keep a std::list of items in your class and then decide that a std::vector would be more effective you can change this without the user caring. That said, the way you interact with the either stl container is thanks to abstraction, both the list and the vector can for instance be traversed in the same way using similar methods (iterators).

Is arr.__len__() the preferred way to get the length of an array in Python?

The preferred way to get the length of any python object is to pass it as an argument to the len function. Internally, python will then try to call the special __len__ method of the object that was passed.

object==null or null==object?

In Java there is no good reason.

A couple of other answers have claimed that it's because you can accidentally make it assignment instead of equality. But in Java, you have to have a boolean in an if, so this:

if (o = null)

will not compile.

The only time this could matter in Java is if the variable is boolean:

int m1(boolean x)
{
    if (x = true) // oops, assignment instead of equality

How to set background color of a View

In kotlin you could do it like this:

val backgroundColor = R.color.whatever_color_you_like
view.setBackgroundColor(getColorCompat(backgroundColor))

Where getColorCompat() is an extension function:

/**
 * Extension method to provide simpler access to {@link ContextCompat#getColor(int)}.
 */

 fun Context.getColorCompat(color: Int) = ContextCompat.getColor(this, color)

How to find a value in an array of objects in JavaScript?

If you're going to be doing this search frequently, consider changing the format of your object so dinner actually is a key. This is kind of like assigning a primary clustered key in a database table. So, for example:

Obj = { 'pizza' : { 'name' : 'bob' }, 'sushi' : { 'name' : 'john' } }

You can now easily access it like this: Object['sushi']['name']

Or if the object really is this simple (just 'name' in the object), you could just change it to:

Obj = { 'pizza' : 'bob', 'sushi' : 'john' }

And then access it like: Object['sushi'].

It's obviously not always possible or to your advantage to restructure your data object like this, but the point is, sometimes the best answer is to consider whether your data object is structured the best way. Creating a key like this can be faster and create cleaner code.

Sometimes it cannot clear the DEBUG folder. What I did and worked was renaming the file that could not be deleted. So, erase all the folder and the file that cannot be deleted, rename to, for example, "_old".

Pass a string parameter in an onclick function

If to use for generation of a set of buttons with different parameters of handlers.

JavaScript Closures

let some_button = document.createElement( "button" );
some_button.type = "button";

some_button.onclick = doWithParam( some_param );

function doWithParam( param ){
    return function(){
        alert( param ); // <-- Your code here
    }
}

If we do:

some_button.onclick = foo( some_param );
function foo( param ){
    alert( param );
}

then function foo starts after every updating page.

If we do:

for( let i = 0; i < 10; ++i ){
    var inputElement = document.createElement('input');
    inputElement.type = "button"
    inputElement.addEventListener('click', function(){
        gotoNode(result.name);
    });

 ?   document.body.appendChild(inputElement);?
}

then for all buttons created in the loop, the last value of the parameter is "result.name".

How to Alter Constraint

What are database constraints?

Constraints dictate what values are valid for data in the database. For example, you can enforce the a value is not null (a NOT NULL constraint), or that it exists as a unique constraint in another table (a FOREIGN KEY constraint), or that it's unique within this table (a UNIQUE constraint or perhaps PRIMARY KEY constraint depending on your requirements). More general constraints can be implemented using CHECK constraints.

The MSDN documentation for SQL Server 2008 constraints is probably your best starting place.

C# cannot convert method to non delegate type

You need to add parentheses after a method call, else the compiler will think you're talking about the method itself (a delegate type), whereas you're actually talking about the return value of that method.

string t = obj.getTitle();

Extra Non-Essential Information

Also, have a look at properties. That way you could use title as if it were a variable, while, internally, it works like a function. That way you don't have to write the functions getTitle() and setTitle(string value), but you could do it like this:

public string Title // Note: public fields, methods and properties use PascalCasing
{
    get // This replaces your getTitle method
    {
        return _title; // Where _title is a field somewhere
    }
    set // And this replaces your setTitle method
    {
        _title = value; // value behaves like a method parameter
    }
}

Or you could use auto-implemented properties, which would use this by default:

public string Title { get; set; }

And you wouldn't have to create your own backing field (_title), the compiler would create it itself.

Also, you can change access levels for property accessors (getters and setters):

public string Title { get; private set; }

You use properties as if they were fields, i.e.:

this.Title = "Example";
string local = this.Title;

How to properly stop the Thread in Java?

Typically, a thread is terminated when it's interrupted. So, why not use the native boolean? Try isInterrupted():

Thread t = new Thread(new Runnable(){
        @Override
        public void run() {
            while(!Thread.currentThread().isInterrupted()){
                // do stuff
            }
        }});
    t.start();

    // Sleep a second, and then interrupt
    try {
        Thread.sleep(1000);
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {}
    t.interrupt();

How do you check if a certain index exists in a table?

A slight deviation from the original question however may prove useful for future people landing here wanting to DROP and CREATE an index, i.e. in a deployment script.

You can bypass the exists check simply by adding the following to your create statement:

CREATE INDEX IX_IndexName
ON dbo.TableName
WITH (DROP_EXISTING = ON);

Read more here: CREATE INDEX (Transact-SQL) - DROP_EXISTING Clause

N.B. As mentioned in the comments, the index must already exist for this clause to work without throwing an error.

Convert MFC CString to integer

Define in msdn: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/yd5xkb5c.aspx

);
int _atoi_l(

);
int _wtoi_l(

CString is wchar_t string. So, if you want convert Cstring to int, you can use:

 CString s;

Conditionally change img src based on model data

Instead of src you need ng-src.

AngularJS views support binary operators

condition && true || false

So your img tag would look like this

<img ng-src="{{interface == 'UP' && 'green-checkmark.png' || 'big-black-X.png'}}"/>

Note : the quotes (ie 'green-checkmark.png') are important here. It won't work without quotes.

Python: How to keep repeating a program until a specific input is obtained?

There are two ways to do this. First is like this:

while True:             # Loop continuously
    inp = raw_input()   # Get the input
    if inp == "": # If it is a blank line...
        break           # ...break the loop

The second is like this:

inp = raw_input()       # Get the input
while inp != "": # Loop until it is a blank line
    inp = raw_input() # Get the input again

Note that if you are on Python 3.x, you will need to replace raw_input with input.

change cursor to finger pointer

Here is something cool if you want to go the extra mile with this. in the url, you can use a link or save an image png and use the path. for example:

url('assets/imgs/theGoods.png');

below is the code:

.cursor{
  cursor:url(http://www.icon100.com/up/3772/128/425-hand-pointer.png), auto;
}

So this will only work under the size 128 X 128, any bigger and the image wont load. But you can practically use any image you want! This would be consider pure css3, and some html. all you got to do in html is

<div class='cursor'></div>

and only in that div, that cursor will show. So I usually add it to the body tag.

Your formula looks fine. Maybe the value you are looking for is not in the first column of the second table?

If the second sheet is in another workbook, you need to add a Workbook reference to your formula:

=VLOOKUP(M3,[Book1]Sheet1!$A$2:$Q$47,13,FALSE)

How does spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto property exactly work in Spring?

For the record, the spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto property is Spring Data JPA specific and is their way to specify a value that will eventually be passed to Hibernate under the property it knows, hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto.

The values create, create-drop, validate, and update basically influence how the schema tool management will manipulate the database schema at startup.

For example, the update operation will query the JDBC driver's API to get the database metadata and then Hibernate compares the object model it creates based on reading your annotated classes or HBM XML mappings and will attempt to adjust the schema on-the-fly.

The update operation for example will attempt to add new columns, constraints, etc but will never remove a column or constraint that may have existed previously but no longer does as part of the object model from a prior run.

Typically in test case scenarios, you'll likely use create-drop so that you create your schema, your test case adds some mock data, you run your tests, and then during the test case cleanup, the schema objects are dropped, leaving an empty database.

In development, it's often common to see developers use update to automatically modify the schema to add new additions upon restart. But again understand, this does not remove a column or constraint that may exist from previous executions that is no longer necessary.

In production, it's often highly recommended you use none or simply don't specify this property. That is because it's common practice for DBAs to review migration scripts for database changes, particularly if your database is shared across multiple services and applications.

Prevent jQuery UI dialog from setting focus to first textbox

To expand on some of the previous answers (and ignoring the ancillary datepicker aspect), if you want to prevent the focus() event from focusing the first input field when your dialog opens, try this:

$('#myDialog').dialog(
    { 'open': function() { $('input:first-child', $(this)).blur(); }
});

Using Python's list index() method on a list of tuples or objects?

ok, it might be a mistake in vals(j), the correction is:

def getIndex(li,indices,vals):
for pos,k in enumerate(lista):
    match = True
    for i in indices:
        if k[i] != vals[indices.index(i)]:
            match = False
            break
    if(match):
        return pos

How to multiply duration by integer?

My turn:

https://play.golang.org/p/RifHKsX7Puh

package main

import (
    "fmt"
    "time"
)

func main() {
    var n int = 77
    v := time.Duration( 1.15 * float64(n) ) * time.Second

    fmt.Printf("%v %T", v, v)
}

It helps to remember the simple fact, that underlyingly the time.Duration is a mere int64, which holds nanoseconds value.

This way, conversion to/from time.Duration becomes a formality. Just remember:

  • int64
  • always nanosecs

JavaScript checking for null vs. undefined and difference between == and ===

Try With Different Logic. You can use bellow code for check all four(4) condition for validation like not null, not blank, not undefined and not zero only use this code (!(!(variable))) in javascript and jquery.

function myFunction() {
var data; //The Values can be like as null, blank, undefined, zero you can test

if(!(!(data)))
{
   //If data has valid value
    alert("data "+data);
}
else
{
    //If data has null, blank, undefined, zero etc.
    alert("data is "+data);
}

}

Creating Duplicate Table From Existing Table

Use this query to create the new table with the values from existing table

CREATE TABLE New_Table_name AS SELECT * FROM Existing_table_Name;

Now you can get all the values from existing table into newly created table.

How can I add reflection to a C++ application?

When I wanted reflection in C++ I read this article and improved upon what I saw there. Sorry, no can has. I don't own the result...but you can certainly get what I had and go from there.

I am currently researching, when I feel like it, methods to use inherit_linearly to make the definition of reflectable types much easier. I've gotten fairly far in it actually but I still have a ways to go. The changes in C++0x are very likely to be a lot of help in this area.

CSS Pseudo-classes with inline styles

Rather than needing inline you could use Internal CSS

<a href="http://www.google.com" style="hover:text-decoration:none;">Google</a>

You could have:

<a href="http://www.google.com" id="gLink">Google</a>
<style>
  #gLink:hover {
     text-decoration: none;
  }
</style>

Adding Apostrophe in every field in particular column for excel

How to submit an HTML form on loading the page?

You can do it by using simple one line JavaScript code and also be careful that if JavaScript is turned off it will not work. The below code will do it's job if JavaScript is turned off.

Turn off JavaScript and run the code on you own file to know it's full function.(If you turn off JavaScript here, the below Code Snippet will not work)

What is the difference between old style and new style classes in Python?

Here's a very practical, true/false difference. The only difference between the two versions of the following code is that in the second version Person inherits from object. Other than that, the two versions are identical, but with different results:

  1. Old-style classes

    class Person():
        _names_cache = {}
        def __init__(self,name):
            self.name = name
        def __new__(cls,name):
            return cls._names_cache.setdefault(name,object.__new__(cls,name))

    ahmed1 = Person("Ahmed")
    ahmed2 = Person("Ahmed")
    print ahmed1 is ahmed2
    print ahmed1
    print ahmed2

    >>> False
    <__main__.Person instance at 0xb74acf8c>
    <__main__.Person instance at 0xb74ac6cc>
    >>>

  2. New-style classes

    class Person(object):
        _names_cache = {}
        def __init__(self,name):
            self.name = name
        def __new__(cls,name):
            return cls._names_cache.setdefault(name,object.__new__(cls,name))

    ahmed1 = Person("Ahmed")
    ahmed2 = Person("Ahmed")
    print ahmed2 is ahmed1
    print ahmed1
    print ahmed2

    >>> True
    <__main__.Person object at 0xb74ac66c>
    <__main__.Person object at 0xb74ac66c>

Check if an excel cell exists on another worksheet in a column - and return the contents of a different column

You can use following formulas.

For Excel 2007 or later:

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(D3,List!A:C,3,FALSE),"No Match")

For Excel 2003:

=IF(ISERROR(MATCH(D3,List!A:A, 0)), "No Match", VLOOKUP(D3,List!A:C,3,FALSE))

Note, that

  • I'm using List!A:C in VLOOKUP and returns value from column ? 3
  • I'm using 4th argument for VLOOKUP equals to FALSE, in that case VLOOKUP will only find an exact match, and the values in the first column of List!A:C do not need to be sorted (opposite to case when you're using TRUE).

If the type of your input control is not text the pipe will not work.

Keep it in mind and save your time.

Difference between break and continue in PHP?

break used to get out from the loop statement, but continue just stop script on specific condition and then continue looping statement until reach the end..

for($i=0; $i<10; $i++){
    if($i == 5){
        echo "It reach five<br>";
        continue;
    }
    echo $i . "<br>";
}

echo "<hr>";

for($i=0; $i<10; $i++){
    if($i == 5){
         echo "It reach end<br>";
         break;
    }
    echo $i . "<br>";

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near ' '

For the OP's command:

select compid,2, convert(datetime, '01/01/' + CONVERT(char(4),cal_yr) ,101) ,0,  Update_dt, th1, th2, th3_pc , Update_id, Update_dt,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

I get this error:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

when debugging something like this split the long line up so you'll get a better row number:

select compid
,2
, convert(datetime
, '01/01/'
+ CONVERT(char(4)
,cal_yr)
,101)
,0
,  Update_dt
, th1
, th2
, th3_pc
, Update_id
, Update_dt
,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

this now results in:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 16
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

which is probably just from the OP not putting the entire command in the question, or use [ ] braces to signify the table name:

from [#tmp_CTF**]

if that is the table name.

Create a BufferedImage from file and make it TYPE_INT_ARGB

try {
    File img = new File("somefile.png");
    BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(img );
    System.out.println(image);
} catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
}

Example output for my image file:

BufferedImage@5d391d: type = 5 ColorModel: #pixelBits = 24
numComponents = 3 color
space = java.awt.color.ICC_ColorSpace@50a649
transparency = 1
has alpha = false
isAlphaPre = false
ByteInterleavedRaster:
width = 800
height = 600
#numDataElements 3
dataOff[0] = 2

You can run System.out.println(object); on just about any object and get some information about it.

Is there a C# String.Format() equivalent in JavaScript?

Try sprintf() for javascript.

Or

// First, checks if it isn't implemented yet.
if (!String.prototype.format) {
  String.prototype.format = function() {
    var args = arguments;
    return this.replace(/{(\d+)}/g, function(match, number) {
      return typeof args[number] != 'undefined'
        ? args[number]
        : match
      ;
    });
  };
}

"{0} is dead, but {1} is alive! {0} {2}".format("ASP", "ASP.NET")

Both answers pulled from JavaScript equivalent to printf/string.format

Show and hide divs at a specific time interval using jQuery

Loop through divs every 10 seconds.

$(function () {

    var counter = 0,
        divs = $('#div1, #div2, #div3');

    function showDiv () {
        divs.hide() // hide all divs
            .filter(function (index) { return index == counter % 3; }) // figure out correct div to show
            .show('fast'); // and show it

        counter++;
    }; // function to loop through divs and show correct div

    showDiv(); // show first div

    setInterval(function () {
        showDiv(); // show next div
    }, 10 * 1000); // do this every 10 seconds

});

Use String.split() with multiple delimiters

pdfName.split("[.-]+");

  • [.-] -> any one of the . or - can be used as delimiter

  • + sign signifies that if the aforementioned delimiters occur consecutively we should treat it as one.

DataRow: Select cell value by a given column name

            var myValue = Table.Rows[i]["MyFieldName"]; //Getting my field value

        }

How can I check whether a option already exist in select by JQuery

Does not work, you have to do this:

  alert("option doesn't exist!");
}

What is the main purpose of setTag() getTag() methods of View?

This is very useful for custom ArrayAdapter using. It is some kind of optimization. There setTag used as reference to object that references on some parts of layout (that displaying in ListView) instead of findViewById.

static class ViewHolder {
    TextView tvPost;
    TextView tvDate;
    ImageView thumb;
}

public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {

    if (convertView == null) {
        LayoutInflater inflater = myContext.getLayoutInflater();
        convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.postitem, null);

        ViewHolder vh = new ViewHolder();
        vh.tvPost = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.postTitleLabel);
        vh.tvDate = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.postDateLabel);
        vh.thumb = (ImageView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.postThumb);
        convertView.setTag(vh);
    }

How can I get Git to follow symlinks?

Use hard links instead. This differs from a soft (symbolic) link. All programs, including git will treat the file as a regular file. Note that the contents can be modified by changing either the source or the destination.

On macOS (before 10.13 High Sierra)

If you already have git and Xcode installed, install hardlink. It's a microscopic tool to create hard links.

To create the hard link, simply:

hln source destination

macOS High Sierra update

Does Apple File System support directory hard links?

Directory hard links are not supported by Apple File System. All directory hard links are converted to symbolic links or aliases when you convert from HFS+ to APFS volume formats on macOS.

From APFS FAQ on developer.apple.com

Follow https://github.com/selkhateeb/hardlink/issues/31 for future alternatives.

On Linux and other Unix flavors

The ln command can make hard links:

ln source destination

On Windows (Vista, 7, 8, …)

Use mklink to create a junction on Windows:

mklink /j "source" "destination"

Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA with multiple DataSources

There is another way to have multiple dataSources by using @EnableAutoConfiguration and application.properties.

Basically put multiple dataSource configuration info on application.properties and generate default setup (dataSource and entityManagerFactory) automatically for first dataSource by @EnableAutoConfiguration. But for next dataSource, create dataSource, entityManagerFactory and transactionManager all manually by the info from property file.

Below is my example to setup two dataSources. First dataSource is setup by @EnableAutoConfiguration which can be assigned only for one configuration, not multiple. And that will generate 'transactionManager' by DataSourceTransactionManager, that looks default transactionManager generated by the annotation. However I have seen the transaction not beginning issue on the thread from scheduled thread pool only for the default DataSourceTransactionManager and also when there are multiple transaction managers. So I create transactionManager manually by JpaTransactionManager also for the first dataSource with assigning 'transactionManager' bean name and default entityManagerFactory. That JpaTransactionManager for first dataSource surely resolves the weird transaction issue on the thread from ScheduledThreadPool.

Update for Spring Boot 1.3.0.RELEASE

I found my previous configuration with @EnableAutoConfiguration for default dataSource has issue on finding entityManagerFactory with Spring Boot 1.3 version. Maybe default entityManagerFactory is not generated by @EnableAutoConfiguration, once after I introduce my own transactionManager. So now I create entityManagerFactory by myself. So I don't need to use @EntityScan. So it looks I'm getting more and more out of the setup by @EnableAutoConfiguration.

Second dataSource is setup without @EnableAutoConfiguration and create 'anotherTransactionManager' by manual way.

Since there are multiple transactionManager extends from PlatformTransactionManager, we should specify which transactionManager to use on each @Transactional annotation

PHP array: count or sizeof?

According to phpbench:

Is it worth the effort to calculate the length of the loop in advance?

//pre-calculate the size of array
$size = count($x); //or $size = sizeOf($x);

for ($i=0; $i<$size; $i++) {
    //...
}

//don't pre-calculate
for ($i=0; $i<count($x); $i++) { //or $i<sizeOf($x);
    //...
}

A loop with 1000 keys with 1 byte values are given.

                  +---------+----------+
                  | count() | sizeof() |
+-----------------+---------+----------+
| With precalc    |     152 |      212 |
| Without precalc |   70401 |    50644 |
+-----------------+---------+----------+  (time in µs)

So I personally prefer to use count() instead of sizeof() with pre calc.

How do I set a checkbox in razor view?

Getting the PublicKeyToken of .Net assemblies

Open a command prompt and type one of the following lines according to your Visual Studio version and Operating System Architecture :

VS 2008 on 32bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2008 on 64bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2010 on 32bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2010 on 64bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2012 on 32bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2012 on 64bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

VS 2015 on 64bit Windows :

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v10.0A\bin\NETFX 4.6.1 Tools\sn.exe" -T <assemblyname>

Note that for the versions VS2012+, sn.exe application isn't anymore in bin but in a sub-folder. Also, note that for 64bit you need to specify (x86) folder.

If you prefer to use Visual Studio command prompt, just type :

sn -T <assembly>

where <assemblyname> is a full file path to the assembly you're interested in, surrounded by quotes if it has spaces.

You can add this as an external tool in VS, as shown here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/miah/archive/2008/02/19/visual-studio-tip-get-public-key-token-for-a-stong-named-assembly.aspx

How to get the instance id from within an ec2 instance?

In the question you have mentioned the user as root, one thing I should mention is that the instance ID is not dependent on the user.

For Node developers,

var meta  = new AWS.MetadataService();

meta.request("/latest/meta-data/instance-id", function(err, data){
    console.log(data);
});

How do I print my Java object without getting "SomeType@2f92e0f4"?

Every class in Java has the toString() method in it by default, which is called if you pass some object of that class to System.out.println(). By default, this call returns the className@hashcode of that object.

{
    SomeClass sc = new SomeClass();
    // Class @ followed by hashcode of object in Hexadecimal
    System.out.println(sc);
}

You can override the toString method of a class to get different output. See this example

class A {
    String s = "I am just a object";
    @Override
    public String toString()
    {
        return s;
    }
}

class B {
    public static void main(String args[])
    {
        A obj = new A();
        System.out.println(obj);
    }
}

How to deselect a selected UITableView cell?

Based on saikirans solution, I have written this, which helped me. On the .m file:

- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {

    if(selectedRowIndex && indexPath.row == selectedRowIndex.row) {

        [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
        selectedRowIndex = nil;

    }

    else {  self.selectedRowIndex = [indexPath retain];   }

    [tableView beginUpdates];
    [tableView endUpdates];

}

And on the header file:

@property (retain, nonatomic) NSIndexPath* selectedRowIndex;

I am not very experienced either, so double check for memory leaks etc.

How to create a new file in unix?

How to set a radio button in Android

React.createElement: type is invalid -- expected a string

This is an error that is some how had to debug. As it has been said many times, improper import/export can cause this error but surprisingly i got this error from a small bug in my react-router-dom authentication setup below is my case:

WRONG SETUP:

const PrivateRoute = ({ component: Component, ...rest }) => (
    <Route
        {...rest}
        render={(props) => (token ? <Component {...props} /> : <Redirect to={{ pathname: "/login" }} />)}
    />
);

CORRECT SETUP:

const PrivateRoute = ({ component: Component, token, ...rest }) => (
    <Route
        {...rest}
        render={(props) => (token ? <Component {...props} /> : <Redirect to={{ pathname: "/login" }} />)}
    />
);

The only difference was I was deconstructing the token in the PrivateRoute component. By the way the token is gotten from localstorage like this const token = localStorage.getItem("authUser"); so if it is not there I know the user is not authenticated. This can also cause that error.

Android difference between Two Dates

DateTime start = new DateTime(2013, 10, 20, 5, 0, 0, Locale);
DateTime end = new DateTime(2013, 10, 21, 13, 0, 0, Locale);
Days.daysBetween(start.toLocalDate(), end.toLocalDate()).getDays()

it returns how many days between given two dates, where DateTime is from joda library

Best way to integrate Python and JavaScript?

If your just interested in sharing complex data types between javascript and python, check out jsonpickle. It wraps the standard Python JSON libraries, but has some smarts in serializing and deserializing Python classes and other data types.

Quite a few Google App Engine projects have used this library. Joose and FirePython both incorporate jsonpickle.

Pull all images from a specified directory and then display them

You can display all image from a folder using simple php script. Suppose folder name “images” and put some image in this folder and then use any text editor and paste this code and run this script. This is php code

    <?php
     $files = glob("images/*.*");
     for ($i=0; $i<count($files); $i++)
      {
        $image = $files[$i];
        $supported_file = array(
                'gif',
                'jpg',
                'jpeg',
                'png'
         );

         $ext = strtolower(pathinfo($image, PATHINFO_EXTENSION));
         if (in_array($ext, $supported_file)) {
            echo basename($image)."<br />"; // show only image name if you want to show full path then use this code // echo $image."<br />";
             echo '<img src="'.$image .'" alt="Random image" />'."<br /><br />";
            } else {
                continue;
            }
          }
       ?>

if you do not check image type then use this code

<?php
$files = glob("images/*.*");
for ($i = 0; $i < count($files); $i++) {
    $image = $files[$i];
    echo basename($image) . "<br />"; // show only image name if you want to show full path then use this code // echo $image."<br />";
    echo '<img src="' . $image . '" alt="Random image" />' . "<br /><br />";

}

How to scroll to top of a div using jQuery?

SSL handshake alert: unrecognized_name error since upgrade to Java 1.7.0

I had what I believe the same issue is. I found that I needed to adjust the Apache configuration to include a ServerName or ServerAlias for the host.

This code failed:

public class a {
   public static void main(String [] a) throws Exception {
      java.net.URLConnection c = new java.net.URL("https://mydomain.com/").openConnection();
      c.setDoOutput(true);
      c.getOutputStream();
   }
}

And this code worked:

public class a {
   public static void main(String [] a) throws Exception {
      java.net.URLConnection c = new java.net.URL("https://google.com/").openConnection();
      c.setDoOutput(true);
      c.getOutputStream();
   }
}

Wireshark revealed that during the TSL/SSL Hello the warning Alert (Level: Warning, Description: Unrecognized Name), Server Hello Was being sent from the server to the client. It was only a warning, however, Java 7.1 then responded immediately back with a "Fatal, Description: Unexpected Message", which I assume means the Java SSL libraries don't like to see the warning of unrecognized name.

From the Wiki on Transport Layer Security (TLS):

112 Unrecognized name warning TLS only; client's Server Name Indicator specified a hostname not supported by the server

This led me to look at my Apache config files and I found that if I added a ServerName or ServerAlias for the name sent from the client/java side, it worked correctly without any errors.

<VirtualHost mydomain.com:443>
  ServerName mydomain.com
  ServerAlias www.mydomain.com

Uncaught ReferenceError: function is not defined with onclick

Never use .onclick(), or similar attributes from a userscript! (It's also poor practice in a regular web page).

The reason is that userscripts operate in a sandbox ("isolated world"), and onclick operates in the target-page scope and cannot see any functions your script creates.

Always use addEventListener()Doc (or an equivalent library function, like jQuery .on()).

So instead of code like:

something.outerHTML += '<input onclick="resetEmotes()" id="btnsave" ...>'

You would use:

something.outerHTML += '<input id="btnsave" ...>'

document.getElementById ("btnsave").addEventListener ("click", resetEmotes, false);

For the loop, you can't pass data to an event listener like that See the doc. Plus every time you change innerHTML like that, you destroy the previous event listeners!

Without refactoring your code much, you can pass data with data attributes. So use code like this:

for (i = 0; i < EmoteURLLines.length; i++) {
    if (checkIMG (EmoteURLLines[i])) {
        localStorage.setItem ("nameEmotes", JSON.stringify (EmoteNameLines));
        localStorage.setItem ("urlEmotes", JSON.stringify (EmoteURLLines));
        localStorage.setItem ("usageEmotes", JSON.stringify (EmoteUsageLines));
        if (i == 0) {
            console.log (resetSlot ());
        }
        emoteTab[2].innerHTML  += '<span style="cursor:pointer;" id="'
                                + EmoteNameLines[i]
                                + '" data-usage="' + EmoteUsageLines[i] + '">'
                                + '<img src="' + EmoteURLLines[i] + '" /></span>'
                                ;
    } else {
        alert ("The maximum emote (" + EmoteNameLines[i] + ") size is (36x36)");
    }
}
//-- Only add events when innerHTML overwrites are done.
var targetSpans = emoteTab[2].querySelectorAll ("span[data-usage]");
for (var J in targetSpans) {
    targetSpans[J].addEventListener ("click", appendEmote, false);
}

Where appendEmote is like:

function appendEmote (zEvent) {
    //-- this and the parameter are special in event handlers. see the linked doc.
    var emoteUsage  = this.getAttribute ("data-usage");
    shoutdata.value += emoteUsage;
}

WARNINGS:

  • Your code reuses the same id for several elements. Don't do this, it's invalid. A given ID should occur only once per page.
  • Every time you use .outerHTML or .innerHTML, you trash any event handlers on the affected nodes. If you use this method beware of that fact.

How can you sort an array without mutating the original array?

You need to copy the array before you sort it. One way with es6:

const sorted = [...arr].sort();

the spread-syntax as array literal (copied from mdn):

var arr = [1, 2, 3];
var arr2 = [...arr]; // like arr.slice()

Blank HTML SELECT without blank item in dropdown list

You can't. They simply do not work that way. A drop down menu must have one of its options selected at all times.

You could (although I don't recommend it) watch for a change event and then use JS to delete the first option if it is blank.

Elastic Search: how to see the indexed data

Probably the easiest way to explore your ElasticSearch cluster is to use elasticsearch-head.

You can install it by doing:

cd elasticsearch/
./bin/plugin -install mobz/elasticsearch-head

Then (assuming ElasticSearch is already running on your local machine), open a browser window to:

http://localhost:9200/_plugin/head/

Alternatively, you can just use curl from the command line, eg:

Check the mapping for an index:

curl -XGET 'http://127.0.0.1:9200/my_index/_mapping?pretty=1'

Get some sample docs:

curl -XGET 'http://127.0.0.1:9200/my_index/_search?pretty=1'

See the actual terms stored in a particular field (ie how that field has been analyzed):

curl -XGET 'http://127.0.0.1:9200/my_index/_search?pretty=1'  -d '
 {
    "facets" : {
       "my_terms" : {
          "terms" : {
             "size" : 50,
             "field" : "foo"
          }
       }
    }
 }

Disable LESS-CSS Overwriting calc()

Here's a cross-browser less mixin for using CSS's calc with any property:

.calc(@prop; @val) {
  @{prop}: calc(~'@{val}');
  @{prop}: -moz-calc(~'@{val}');
  @{prop}: -webkit-calc(~'@{val}');
  @{prop}: -o-calc(~'@{val}');
}

Example usage:

.calc(width; "100% - 200px");

And the CSS that's output:

width: calc(100% - 200px);
width: -moz-calc(100% - 200px);
width: -webkit-calc(100% - 200px);
width: -o-calc(100% - 200px);

Search for value in DataGridView in a column

Why don't you build a DataTable first then assign it to the DataGridView as DataSource:

DataTable table4DataSource=new DataTable();

table4DataSource.Columns.Add("col00");
table4DataSource.Columns.Add("col01");
table4DataSource.Columns.Add("col02");

...

(add your rows, manually, in a circle or via a DataReader from a database table) (assign the datasource)

dtGrdViewGrid.DataSource = table4DataSource;

and then use:

(dtGrdViewGrid.DataSource as DataTable).DefaultView.RowFilter = "col00 = '" + textBoxSearch.Text+ "'";
dtGrdViewGrid.Refresh();

You can even put this piece of code within your textbox_textchange event and your filtered values will be showing as you write.

 $data_a=file_get_contents($url_a);

 echo $data_a;

Define constant variables in C++ header

It seems that bames53's answer can be extended to defining integer and non-integer constant values in namespace and class declarations even if they get included in multiple source files. It is not necessary to put the declarations in a header file but the definitions in a source file. The following example works for Microsoft Visual Studio 2015, for z/OS V2.2 XL C/C++ on OS/390, and for g++ (GCC) 8.1.1 20180502 on GNU/Linux 4.16.14 (Fedora 28). Note that the constants are declared/defined in only a single header file that gets included in multiple source files.

In foo.cc:

#include <cstdio>               // for puts

#include "messages.hh"
#include "bar.hh"
#include "zoo.hh"

int main(int argc, const char* argv[])
{
  puts("Hello!");
  bar();
  zoo();
  puts(Message::third);
  return 0;
}

In messages.hh:

#ifndef MESSAGES_HH
#define MESSAGES_HH

namespace Message {
  char const * const first = "Yes, this is the first message!";
  char const * const second = "This is the second message.";
  char const * const third = "Message #3.";
};

#endif

In bar.cc:

#include "messages.hh"
#include <cstdio>

void bar(void)
{
  puts("Wow!");
  printf("bar: %s\n", Message::first);
}

In zoo.cc:

#include <cstdio>
#include "messages.hh"

void zoo(void)
{
  printf("zoo: %s\n", Message::second);
}

In bar.hh:

#ifndef BAR_HH
#define BAR_HH

#include "messages.hh"

void bar(void);

#endif

In zoo.hh:

#ifndef ZOO_HH
#define ZOO_HH

#include "messages.hh"

void zoo(void);

#endif

This yields the following output:

Hello!
Wow!
bar: Yes, this is the first message!
zoo: This is the second message.
Message #3.

The data type char const * const means a constant pointer to an array of constant characters. The first const is needed because (according to g++) "ISO C++ forbids converting a string constant to 'char*'". The second const is needed to avoid link errors due to multiple definitions of the (then insufficiently constant) constants. Your compiler might not complain if you omit one or both of the consts, but then the source code is less portable.

Guzzlehttp - How get the body of a response from Guzzle 6?

Guzzle implements PSR-7. That means that it will by default store the body of a message in a Stream that uses PHP temp streams. To retrieve all the data, you can use casting operator:

$contents = (string) $response->getBody();

You can also do it with

$contents = $response->getBody()->getContents();

The difference between the two approaches is that getContents returns the remaining contents, so that a second call returns nothing unless you seek the position of the stream with rewind or seek .

$stream = $response->getBody();
$contents = $stream->getContents(); // returns all the contents
$contents = $stream->getContents(); // empty string
$stream->rewind(); // Seek to the beginning
$contents = $stream->getContents(); // returns all the contents

Instead, usings PHP's string casting operations, it will reads all the data from the stream from the beginning until the end is reached.

$contents = (string) $response->getBody(); // returns all the contents
$contents = (string) $response->getBody(); // returns all the contents

Easier way to create circle div than using an image?

Setting the border-radius of each side of an element to 50% will create the circle display at any size:

.circle {
  border-radius: 50%;
  width: 200px;
  height: 200px;
  /* width and height can be anything, as long as they're equal */
}

Line Break in HTML Select Option?

If you're using select2 you can easily build something to fit the dropdown options and selected option likw below:

When your text option is splitted by |

<option value="1">Pacheco|Fmcia Pacheco|11443322551</option>

Then your script could be just like this one:

<script type="text/javascript">
    function formatSearch(item) {
        var selectionText = item.text.split("|");
        var $returnString = $('<span>' + selectionText[0] + '</br><b>' + selectionText[1] + '</b></br>' + selectionText[2] +'</span>');
        return $returnString;
    };
    function formatSelected(item) {
        var selectionText = item.text.split("|");
        var $returnString = $('<span>' + selectionText[0].substring(0, 21) +'</span>');
        return $returnString;
    };
    $('.select2').select2({
        templateResult: formatSearch,
        templateSelection: formatSelected
    });
</script>

The result you can see below:

Clear the form field after successful submission of php form

If you want your form's field clear, you must only add a delay in the onClick event like:

<input name="submit" id="MyButton" type="submit" class="btn-lg" value="ClickMe" onClick="setTimeout('clearform()', 2000 );"

onClick="setTimeout('clearform()', 1500 );" . in 1,5 seconds its clear

document.getElementById("name").value = "";  <<<<<<just correct this
document.getElementById("telephone").value = "";    <<<<<correct this

By clearform(), I mean your clearing-fields function.

How to exclude subdirectories in the destination while using /mir /xd switch in robocopy

The argument order seems to matter... to exclude subdirectories, I used

robocopy \\source\folder C:\destinationfolder /XD * /MIR

getch and arrow codes

Actually, to read arrow keys one need to read its scan code. Following are the scan code generated by arrow keys press (not key release)

When num Lock is off

  • Left E0 4B
  • Right E0 4D
  • Up E0 48
  • Down E0 50

When Num Lock is on these keys get preceded with E0 2A

  • Byte E0 is -32
  • Byte 48 is 72 UP
  • Byte 50 is 80 DOWN

    user_var=getch();
    if(user_var == -32)
    {
        user_var=getch();
        switch(user_var)
        {
        case 72:
            cur_sel--;
            if (cur_sel==0)
                cur_sel=4;
            break;
        case 80:
            cur_sel++;
            if(cur_sel==5)
                cur_sel=1;
            break;

        }
    }

In the above code I have assumed programmer wants to move 4 lines only.

Using Image control in WPF to display System.Drawing.Bitmap

According to http://khason.net/blog/how-to-use-systemdrawingbitmap-hbitmap-in-wpf/

   [DllImport("gdi32")]
   static extern int DeleteObject(IntPtr o);

   public static BitmapSource loadBitmap(System.Drawing.Bitmap source)
   {
       IntPtr ip = source.GetHbitmap();
       BitmapSource bs = null;
       try
       {
           bs = System.Windows.Interop.Imaging.CreateBitmapSourceFromHBitmap(ip,
              IntPtr.Zero, Int32Rect.Empty,
              System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapSizeOptions.FromEmptyOptions());
       }
       finally
       {
           DeleteObject(ip);
       }

       return bs;
   }

It gets System.Drawing.Bitmap (from WindowsBased) and converts it into BitmapSource, which can be actually used as image source for your Image control in WPF.

image1.Source = YourUtilClass.loadBitmap(SomeBitmap);

Opening new window in HTML for target="_blank"

You don't have that kind of control with a bare a tag. But you can hook up the tag's onclick handler to call window.open(...) with the right parameters. See here for examples: https://developer.mozilla.org/En/DOM/Window.open

I still don't think you can force window over tab directly though-- that depends on the browser and the user's settings.

Is there a query language for JSON?

Update: XQuery 3.1 can query either XML or JSON - or both together. And XPath 3.1 can too.

The list is growing:

java doesn't run if structure inside of onclick listener

both your conditions are the same:

if(s < f) {     calc = f - s;     n = s; }else if(f > s){     calc =  s - f;     n = f;  }

so

if(s < f)

and

}else if(f > s){

are the same

change to

}else if(f < s){

How to ignore user's time zone and force Date() use specific time zone

My solutions is to determine timezone adjustment the browser applies, and reverse it:

var timestamp = 1600913205; //retrieved from unix, that is why it is in seconds

//uncomment below line if you want to apply Pacific timezone
//timestamp += -25200;

//determine the timezone offset the browser applies to Date()
var offset = (new Date()).getTimezoneOffset() * 60;

//re-initialize the Date function to reverse the timezone adjustment
var date = new Date((timestamp + offset) * 1000);

//here continue using date functions.

This point the date will be timezone free and always UTC, You can apply your own offset to timestamp to produce any timezone.

How to respond to clicks on a checkbox in an AngularJS directive?

This is the way I've been doing this sort of stuff. Angular tends to favor declarative manipulation of the dom rather than a imperative one(at least that's the way I've been playing with it).

The markup

<table class="table">
  <thead>
    <tr>
      <th>
        <input type="checkbox"
          ng-click="selectAll($event)"
          ng-checked="isSelectedAll()">
      </th>
      <th>Title</th>
    </tr>
  </thead>
  <tbody>
    <tr ng-repeat="e in entities" ng-class="getSelectedClass(e)">
      <td>
        <input type="checkbox" name="selected"
          ng-checked="isSelected(e.id)"
          ng-click="updateSelection($event, e.id)">
      </td>
      <td>{{e.title}}</td>
    </tr>
  </tbody>
</table>

And in the controller

var updateSelected = function(action, id) {
  if (action === 'add' && $scope.selected.indexOf(id) === -1) {
    $scope.selected.push(id);
  }
  if (action === 'remove' && $scope.selected.indexOf(id) !== -1) {
    $scope.selected.splice($scope.selected.indexOf(id), 1);
  }
};

$scope.updateSelection = function($event, id) {
  var checkbox = $event.target;
  var action = (checkbox.checked ? 'add' : 'remove');
  updateSelected(action, id);
};

$scope.selectAll = function($event) {
  var checkbox = $event.target;
  var action = (checkbox.checked ? 'add' : 'remove');
  for ( var i = 0; i < $scope.entities.length; i++) {
    var entity = $scope.entities[i];
    updateSelected(action, entity.id);
  }
};

$scope.getSelectedClass = function(entity) {
  return $scope.isSelected(entity.id) ? 'selected' : '';
};

$scope.isSelected = function(id) {
  return $scope.selected.indexOf(id) >= 0;
};

//something extra I couldn't resist adding :)
$scope.isSelectedAll = function() {
  return $scope.selected.length === $scope.entities.length;
};

EDIT: getSelectedClass() expects the entire entity but it was being called with the id of the entity only, which is now corrected

Read and parse a Json File in C#

Based on @L.B.'s solution, the (typed as Object rather than Anonymous) VB code is

Dim oJson As Object = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(File.ReadAllText(MyFilePath))

I should mention that this is quick and useful for constructing HTTP call content where the type isn't required. And using Object rather than Anonymous means you can maintain Option Strict On in your Visual Studio environment - I hate turning that off.

How to configure log4j to only keep log files for the last seven days?

My script based on @dogbane's answer

/etc/cron.daily/hbase

#!/bin/sh
find /var/log/hbase -type f -name "phoenix-hbase-server.log.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9]" -exec bzip2 {} ";"
find /var/log/hbase -type f -regex ".*.out.[0-9][0-9]?" -exec bzip2 {} ";"
find /var/log/hbase -type f -mtime +7 -name "*.bz2" -exec rm -f {} ";"

/etc/cron.daily/tomcat

#!/bin/sh
find /opt/tomcat/log/ -type f -mtime +1 -name "*.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9].*log" -exec bzip2 {} ";"
find /opt/tomcat/log/ -type f -mtime +1 -name "*.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9].txt" -exec bzip2 {} ";"
find /opt/tomcat/log/ -type f -mtime +7 -name "*.bz2" -exec rm -f {} ";"

because Tomcat rotate needs one day delay.

Default value of function parameter

In C++ the requirements imposed on default arguments with regard to their location in parameter list are as follows:

  1. Default argument for a given parameter has to be specified no more than once. Specifying it more than once (even with the same default value) is illegal.

  2. Parameters with default arguments have to form a contiguous group at the end of the parameter list.

Now, keeping that in mind, in C++ you are allowed to "grow" the set of parameters that have default arguments from one declaration of the function to the next, as long as the above requirements are continuously satisfied.

For example, you can declare a function with no default arguments

void foo(int a, int b);

In order to call that function after such declaration you'll have to specify both arguments explicitly.

Later (further down) in the same translation unit, you can re-declare it again, but this time with one default argument

void foo(int a, int b = 5);

and from this point on you can call it with just one explicit argument.

Further down you can re-declare it yet again adding one more default argument

void foo(int a = 1, int b);

and from this point on you can call it with no explicit arguments.

The full example might look as follows

void foo(int a, int b);

int main()
{
  foo(2, 3);

  void foo(int a, int b = 5); // redeclare
  foo(8); // OK, calls `foo(8, 5)`

  void foo(int a = 1, int b); // redeclare again
  foo(); // OK, calls `foo(1, 5)`
}

void foo(int a, int b)
{
  // ...
}

As for the code in your question, both variants are perfectly valid, but they mean different things. The first variant declares a default argument for the second parameter right away. The second variant initially declares your function with no default arguments and then adds one for the second parameter.

The net effect of both of your declarations (i.e. the way it is seen by the code that follows the second declaration) is exactly the same: the function has default argument for its second parameter. However, if you manage to squeeze some code between the first and the second declarations, these two variants will behave differently. In the second variant the function has no default arguments between the declarations, so you'll have to specify both arguments explicitly.

Setting session variable using javascript

A session is stored server side, you can't modify it with JavaScript. Sessions may contain sensitive data.

You can modify cookies using document.cookie.

You can easily find many examples how to modify cookies.

SQL GROUP BY CASE statement with aggregate function

My guess is that you don't really want to GROUP BY some_product.

The answer to: "Is there a way to GROUP BY a column alias such as some_product in this case, or do I need to put this in a subquery and group on that?" is: You can not GROUP BY a column alias.

The SELECT clause, where column aliases are assigned, is not processed until after the GROUP BY clause. An inline view or common table expression (CTE) could be used to make the results available for grouping.

Inline view:

select ...
from (select ... , CASE WHEN col1 > col2 THEN SUM(col3*col4) ELSE 0 END AS some_product
   from ...
   group by col1, col2 ... ) T
group by some_product ...

CTE:

with T as (select ... , CASE WHEN col1 > col2 THEN SUM(col3*col4) ELSE 0 END AS some_product
   from ...
   group by col1, col2 ... )
select ...
from T
group by some_product ...

jQuery returning "parsererror" for ajax request

If you don't want to remove/change dataType: json, you can override jQuery's strict parsing by defining a custom converter:

$.ajax({
    // We're expecting a JSON response...
    dataType: 'json',

    // ...but we need to override jQuery's strict JSON parsing
    converters: {
        'text json': function(result) {
            try {
                // First try to use native browser parsing
                if (typeof JSON === 'object' && typeof JSON.parse === 'function') {
                    return JSON.parse(result);
                } else {
                    // Fallback to jQuery's parser
                    return $.parseJSON(result);
                }
            } catch (e) {
               // Whatever you want as your alternative behavior, goes here.
               // In this example, we send a warning to the console and return
               // an empty JS object.
               console.log("Warning: Could not parse expected JSON response.");
               return {};
            }
        }
    },

    ...

Using this, you can customize the behavior when the response cannot be parsed as JSON (even if you get an empty response body!)

With this custom converter, .done()/success will be triggered as long as the request was otherwise successful (1xx or 2xx response code).

Convert java.time.LocalDate into java.util.Date type

Here's a utility class I use to convert the newer java.time classes to java.util.Date objects and vice versa:

import java.time.Instant;
import java.time.LocalDate;
import java.time.LocalDateTime;
import java.time.ZoneId;
import java.util.Date;

public class DateUtils {

  public static Date asDate(LocalDate localDate) {
    return Date.from(localDate.atStartOfDay().atZone(ZoneId.systemDefault()).toInstant());
  }

  public static Date asDate(LocalDateTime localDateTime) {
    return Date.from(localDateTime.atZone(ZoneId.systemDefault()).toInstant());
  }

  public static LocalDate asLocalDate(Date date) {
    return Instant.ofEpochMilli(date.getTime()).atZone(ZoneId.systemDefault()).toLocalDate();
  }

  public static LocalDateTime asLocalDateTime(Date date) {
    return Instant.ofEpochMilli(date.getTime()).atZone(ZoneId.systemDefault()).toLocalDateTime();
  }
}

How do I convert a number to a numeric, comma-separated formatted string?

Although formatting belongs to the Presentation layer, SQL Server 2012 and above versions provide FORMAT() function which provides one of the quickest and easiest way to format output. Here are some tips & examples:

Syntax: Format( value, format [, culture ] )

Returns: Format function returns NVarchar string formatted with the specified format and with optional culture. (Returns NULL for invalid format-string.)

Note: The Format() function is consistent across CLR / all .NET languages and provides maximum flexibility to generate formatted output.

Following are few format types that can be achieved using this function:

  • Numeric/Currency formatting - 'C' for currency, 'N' number without currency symbol, 'x' for Hexa-decimals.

  • Date/Time formatting - 'd' short date, 'D' long date, 'f' short full date/time, 'F' long full date/time, 't' short time, 'T' long time, 'm' month+day, 'y' year+month.

  • Custom formatting - you can form your own-custom format using certain symbols/characters, such as dd, mm, yyyy etc. (for Dates). hash (#) currency symbols (£ $ etc.), comma(,) and so on. See examples below.

Examples:

Examples of Built-in Numeric/Currency Formats:

?   select FORMAT(1500350.75, 'c', 'en-gb') --> £1,500,350.75
?   select FORMAT(1500350.75, 'c', 'en-au') --> $1,500,350.75
?   select FORMAT(1500350.75, 'c', 'en-in') --> ? 15,00,350.75

Examples of Built-in Date Formats:

?   select FORMAT(getdate(), 'd', 'en-gb') --> 20/06/2017
?   select FORMAT(getdate(), 'D', 'fr-fr') --> mardi 20 juin 2017
?   select FORMAT(getdate(), 'F', 'en-us') --> Tuesday, June 20, 2017 10:41:39 PM
?   select FORMAT(getdate(), 'T', 'en-gb') --> 22:42:29

Examples of Custom Formatting:

?   select FORMAT(GETDATE(), 'ddd  dd/MM/yyyy')  --> Tue 20/06/2017
?   select FORMAT(GETDATE(), 'dddd dd-MMM-yyyy') --> Tuesday 20-Jun-2017
?   select FORMAT(GETDATE(), 'dd.MMMM.yyyy HH:mm:ss') --> 20.June.2017 22:47:20
?   select FORMAT(123456789.75,'$#,#.00')  --> $123,456,789.75
?   select FORMAT(123456789.75,'£#,#.0')   --> £123,456,789.8

See MSDN for more information on FORMAT() function.

For SQL Server 2008 or below convert the output to MONEY first then to VARCHAR (passing "1" for the 3rd argument of CONVERT() function to specify the "style" of output-format), e.g.:

?   select CONVERT(VARCHAR, CONVERT(MONEY, 123456789.75), 1)    --> 123,456,789.75

jQuery using append with effects

I was in need of a similar kind of solution, wanted to add data on a wall like facebook, when posted,use prepend() to add the latest post on top, thought might be useful for others..

$("#statusupdate").submit( function () {
          $.post(
           'ajax.php',
            $(this).serialize(),
            function(data){

                $("#box").prepend($(data).fadeIn('slow'));
                $("#status").val('');
            }
          );
           event.preventDefault();
        });

the code in ajax.php is

if (isset($_POST))
{

    $feed = $_POST['feed'];
    echo "<p id=\"result\" style=\"width:200px;height:50px;background-color:lightgray;display:none;\">$feed</p>";

}

R solve:system is exactly singular

Lapack is a Linear Algebra package which is used by R (actually it's used everywhere) underneath solve(), dgesv spits this kind of error when the matrix you passed as a parameter is singular.

As an addendum: dgesv performs LU decomposition, which, when using your matrix, forces a division by 0, since this is ill-defined, it throws this error. This only happens when matrix is singular or when it's singular on your machine (due to approximation you can have a really small number be considered 0)

I'd suggest you check its determinant if the matrix you're using contains mostly integers and is not big. If it's big, then take a look at this link.

When is a language considered a scripting language?

In My Opinion, I would say that dynamically interpreted languages such as PHP, Ruby, etc... are still "normal" langauges. I would say that examples of "scripting" languages are things like bash (or ksh or tcsh or whatever) or sqlplus. These languages are often used to string together existing programs on a system into a series of coherent and related commands, such as:

  1. copy A.txt to /tmp/work/
  2. run the nightly cleanup process on the database server
  3. log the results and send them to the sysdamin

So I'd say the difference (for me, anyway) is more in how you use the language. Languages like PHP, Perl, Ruby could be used as "scripting languages", but I usually see them used as "normal languages" (except Perl which seems to go both ways.

Add new column in Pandas DataFrame Python

You just do an opposite comparison. if Col2 <= 1. This will return a boolean Series with False values for those greater than 1 and True values for the other. If you convert it to an int64 dtype, True becomes 1 and False become 0,

df['Col3'] = (df['Col2'] <= 1).astype(int)

If you want a more general solution, where you can assign any number to Col3 depending on the value of Col2 you should do something like:

df['Col3'] = df['Col2'].map(lambda x: 42 if x > 1 else 55)

Or:

df['Col3'] = 0
condition = df['Col2'] > 1
df.loc[condition, 'Col3'] = 42
df.loc[~condition, 'Col3'] = 55

TypeError: Object of type 'bytes' is not JSON serializable

I was dealing with this issue today, and I knew that I had something encoded as a bytes object that I was trying to serialize as json with json.dump(my_json_object, write_to_file.json). my_json_object in this case was a very large json object that I had created, so I had several dicts, lists, and strings to look at to find what was still in bytes format.

The way I ended up solving it: the write_to_file.json will have everything up to the bytes object that is causing the issue.

In my particular case this was a line obtained through

for line in text:
    json_object['line'] = line.strip()

I solved by first finding this error with the help of the write_to_file.json, then by correcting it to:

for line in text:
    json_object['line'] = line.strip().decode()

applying css to specific li class

I only see one color being specified (albeit you specify it in two different places.) Either you've omitted some of your style rules, or you simply didn't specify another color.

How to force garbage collection in Java?

It would be better if you would describe the reason why you need garbage collection. If you are using SWT, you can dispose resources such as Image and Font to free memory. For instance:

Image img = new Image(Display.getDefault(), 16, 16);
img.dispose();

There are also tools to determine undisposed resources.

String parsing in Java with delimiter tab "\t" using split

String[] columnDetail = new String[11];
columnDetail = column.split("\t", -1); // unlimited
OR
columnDetail = column.split("\t", 11); // if you are sure about limit.
 * The {@code limit} parameter controls the number of times the
 * pattern is applied and therefore affects the length of the resulting
 * array. If the limit <i>n</i> is greater than zero then the pattern
 * will be applied at most <i>n</i>&nbsp;-&nbsp;1 times, the array's
 * length will be no greater than <i>n</i>, and the array's last entry
 * will contain all input beyond the last matched delimiter. If <i>n</i>
 * is non-positive then the pattern will be applied as many times as
 * possible and the array can have any length. If <i>n</i> is zero then
 * the pattern will be applied as many times as possible, the array can
 * have any length, and trailing empty strings will be discarded.

jQuery.active function

This is a variable jQuery uses internally, but had no reason to hide, so it's there to use. Just a heads up, it becomes jquery.ajax.active next release. There's no documentation because it's exposed but not in the official API, lots of things are like this actually, like jQuery.cache (where all of jQuery.data() goes).

I'm guessing here by actual usage in the library, it seems to be there exclusively to support $.ajaxStart() and $.ajaxStop() (which I'll explain further), but they only care if it's 0 or not when a request starts or stops. But, since there's no reason to hide it, it's exposed to you can see the actual number of simultaneous AJAX requests currently going on.

When jQuery starts an AJAX request, this happens:

if ( s.global && ! jQuery.active++ ) {
  jQuery.event.trigger( "ajaxStart" );
}

This is what causes the $.ajaxStart() event to fire, the number of connections just went from 0 to 1 (jQuery.active++ isn't 0 after this one, and !0 == true), this means the first of the current simultaneous requests started. The same thing happens at the other end. When an AJAX request stops (because of a beforeSend abort via return false or an ajax call complete function runs):

if ( s.global && ! --jQuery.active ) {
  jQuery.event.trigger( "ajaxStop" );
}

This is what causes the $.ajaxStop() event to fire, the number of requests went down to 0, meaning the last simultaneous AJAX call finished. The other global AJAX handlers fire in there along the way as well.

Maximum execution time in phpMyadmin

ini_set('max_execution_time', 0); or create file name called php.ini and enter the first line max_execution_time=0 then save it and put the file in your root folder of your application.

That's it. Good luck.

Git command to show which specific files are ignored by .gitignore

Here's how to print the complete list of files in the working tree which match patterns located anywhere in Git's multiple gitignore sources (if you're using GNU find):

$ cd {your project directory}
$ find . -path ./.git -prune -o -print \
| git check-ignore --no-index --stdin --verbose

It will check all the files in the current branch of the repository (unless you've deleted them locally).

And it identifies the particular gitignore source lines, as well.

Git continues to track changes in some files which match gitignore patterns, simply because those files were added already. Usefully, the above command displays those files, too.

Negative gitignore patterns are also matched. However, these are easily distinguishable in the listing, because they begin with !.

If you're using Windows, Git Bash includes GNU find (as revealed by find --version).

If the list is long (and you have rev), you can display them by extension (somewhat), too:

$ cd {your project directory}
$ find . -path ./.git -prune -o -print \
| git check-ignore --no-index --stdin --verbose \
| rev | sort | rev

For more details, see man find, man git-check-ignore, man rev, and man sort.

The point of this whole approach is that Git (the software) is changing rapidly and is highly complex. By contrast, GNU's find is extremely stable (at least, in its features used here). So, anyone who desires to be competitive by displaying their in-depth knowledge of Git will answer the question in a different way.

What's the best answer? This answer deliberately minimizes its reliance on Git knowledge, toward achieving the goal of stability and simplicity through modularity (information isolation), and is designed to last a long time.

Java Strings: "String s = new String("silly");"

Strings are special in Java - they're immutable, and string constants are automatically turned into String objects.

There's no way for your SomeStringClass cis = "value" example to apply to any other class.

Nor can you extend String, because it's declared as final, meaning no sub-classing is allowed.

Set value of textbox using JQuery

You're targeting the wrong item with that jQuery selector. The name of your search bar is searchBar, not the id. What you want to use is $('#main_search').val('hi').

Using ng-click vs bind within link function of Angular Directive

You may use a controller in directive:

angular.module('app', [])
  .directive('appClick', function(){
     return {
       restrict: 'A',
       scope: true,
       template: '<button ng-click="click()">Click me</button> Clicked {{clicked}} times',
       controller: function($scope, $element){
         $scope.clicked = 0;
         $scope.click = function(){
           $scope.clicked++
         }
       }
     }
   });

How can I add a space in between two outputs?

+"\n" + can be added in print command to display the code block after it in next line

E.g. System.out.println ("a" + "\n" + "b") outputs a in first line and b in second line.

Dynamic button click event handler

You can use AddHandler to add a handler for any event.

For example, this might be:

AddHandler theButton.Click, AddressOf Me.theButton_Click

Multi-select dropdown list in ASP.NET

I like the Infragistics controls. The WebDropDown has what you need. The only drawback is they can be a bit spendy.

Convert the values in a column into row names in an existing data frame

As of 2016 you can also use the tidyverse.

library(tidyverse)
samp %>% remove_rownames %>% column_to_rownames(var="names")

mysqli_fetch_array while loop columns

Try this :

   $i = 0;
    while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) {

            $posts['post_id'] = $row[$i]['post_id'];
            $posts['post_title'] = $row[$i]['post_title'];
            $posts['type'] = $row[$i]['type'];
            $posts['author'] = $row[$i]['author'];

        }
    $i++;
    }

print_r($posts);

Pentaho Data Integration SQL connection

I just came across the same issue while trying to query a MySQL Database from Pentaho.

Error connecting to database [Local MySQL DB] : org.pentaho.di.core.exception.KettleDatabaseException: Error occured while trying to connect to the database

Exception while loading class org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver

Expanding post by @user979331 the solution is:

  1. Download the MySQL Java Connector / Driver that is compatible with your kettle version
  2. Unzip the zip file (in my case it was mysql-connector-java-5.1.31.zip)
  3. copy the .jar file (mysql-connector-java-5.1.31-bin.jar) and paste it in your Lib folder:

    PC: C:\Program Files\pentaho\design-tools\data-integration\lib

    Mac: /Applications/data-integration/lib

Restart Pentaho (Data Integration) and re-test the MySQL Connection.

Differences between strong and weak in Objective-C

strong and weak, these keywords revolves around Object Ownership in Objective-C

What is object ownership ?

Pointer variables imply ownership of the objects that they point to.

  • When a method (or function) has a local variable that points to an object, that variable is said to own the object being pointed to.
  • When an object has an instance variable that points to another object, the object with the pointer is said to own the object being pointed to.

Anytime a pointer variable points to an object, that object has an owner and will stay alive. This is known as a strong reference.

A variable can optionally not take ownership of an object that it points to. A variable that does not take ownership of an object is known as a weak reference.

What design patterns are used in Spring framework?

Spring container generates bean objects depending on the bean scope (singleton, prototype etc..). So this looks like implementing Abstract Factory pattern. In the Spring's internal implementation, I am sure each scope should be tied to specific factory kind class.

How to remove any URL within a string in Python

The following regular expression in Python works well for detecting URL(s) in the text:

source_text = '''

text4
http://url.com/bla2/blah2/
text5

Printing all global variables/local variables?

In case you want to see the local variables of a calling function use select-frame before info locals

Android Firebase, simply get one child object's data

Firebase listeners fire for both the initial data and any changes.

If you're looking to synchronize the data in a collection, use ChildEventListener. If you're looking to synchronize a single object, use ValueEventListener. Note that in both cases you're not "getting" the data. You're synchronizing it, which means that the callback may be invoked multiple times: for the initial data and whenever the data gets updated.

This is covered in Firebase's quickstart guide for Android. The relevant code and quote:

FirebaseRef.child("message").addValueEventListener(new ValueEventListener() {
  @Override
  public void onDataChange(DataSnapshot snapshot) {
    System.out.println(snapshot.getValue()); //prints "Do you have data? You'll love Firebase."
  }
  @Override
  public void onCancelled(DatabaseError databaseError) {
  }
});

In the example above, the value event will fire once for the initial state of the data, and then again every time the value of that data changes.

Please spend a few moments to go through that quick start. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes and it will save you from a lot of head scratching and questions. The Firebase Android Guide is probably a good next destination, for this question specifically: https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/android/read-and-write

Last element in .each() set

For future Googlers i've a different approach to check if it's last element. It's similar to last lines in OP question.

This directly compares elements rather than just checking index numbers.

$yourset.each(function() {
    var $this = $(this);
    if($this[0] === $yourset.last()[0]) {
        //$this is the last one
    }
});

Using ORDER BY and GROUP BY together

If you really don't care about which timestamp you'll get and your v_id is always the same for a given m_i you can do the following:

select m_id, v_id, max(timestamp) from table
group by m_id, v_id
order by timestamp desc

Now, if the v_id changes for a given m_id then you should do the following

select t1.* from table t1
left join table t2 on t1.m_id = t2.m_id and t1.timestamp < t2.timestamp
where t2.timestamp is null
order by t1.timestamp desc

Android button onClickListener

Use OnClicklistener or you can use android:onClick="myMethod" in your button's xml code from which you going to open a new layout. So when that button is clicked your myMethod function will be called automatically. Your myMethod function in class look like this.

public void myMethod(View v) {
Intent intent=new Intent(context,SecondActivty.class);
startActivity(intent);
}

And in that SecondActivity.class set new layout in contentview.

Can I concatenate multiple MySQL rows into one field?

How to modify a CSS display property from JavaScript?

I found the solution.

As said in the EDIT of my answer, a <div> is misfunctioning in a <table>. So I wrote this code instead :

<tr id="hidden" style="display:none;">
    <td class="depot_table_left">
        <label for="sexe">Sexe</label>
    </td>
    <td>
        <select type="text" name="sexe">
            <option value="1">Sexe</option>
            <option value="2">Joueur</option>
            <option value="3">Joueuse</option>
        </select>
    </td>
</tr>

And this is working fine.

Thanks everybody ;)

jquery to loop through table rows and cells, where checkob is checked, concatenate

UPDATED

I've updated your demo: http://jsfiddle.net/terryyounghk/QS56z/18/

Also, I've changed two ^= to *=. See http://api.jquery.com/category/selectors/

And note the :checked selector. See http://api.jquery.com/checked-selector/

function createcodes() {

    //run through each row
    $('.authors-list tr').each(function (i, row) {

        // reference all the stuff you need first
        var $row = $(row),
            $family = $row.find('input[name*="family"]'),
            $grade = $row.find('input[name*="grade"]'),
            $checkedBoxes = $row.find('input:checked');

        $checkedBoxes.each(function (i, checkbox) {
            // assuming you layout the elements this way,
            // we'll take advantage of .next()
            var $checkbox = $(checkbox),
                $line = $checkbox.next(),
                $size = $line.next();

            $line.val(
                $family.val() + ' ' + $size.val() + ', ' + $grade.val()
            );

        });

    });
}

Sniff HTTP packets for GET and POST requests from an application

You will have to use some sort of network sniffer if you want to get at this sort of data and you're likely to run into the same problem (pulling out the relevant data from the overall network traffic) with those that you do now with Wireshark.

grunt: command not found when running from terminal

Also on OS X (El Capitan), been having this same issue all morning.

I was running the command "npm install -g grunt-cli" command from within a directory where my project was.

I tried again from my home directory (i.e. 'cd ~') and it installed as before, except now I can run the grunt command and it is recognised.

Iterating through a List Object in JSP

another example with just scriplets, when iterating through an ArrayList that contains Maps.

How to get multiline input from user

In Python 3.x the raw_input() of Python 2.x has been replaced by input() function. However in both the cases you cannot input multi-line strings, for that purpose you would need to get input from the user line by line and then .join() them using \n, or you can also take various lines and concatenate them using + operator separated by \n

To get multi-line input from the user you can go like:

no_of_lines = 5
lines = ""
for i in xrange(no_of_lines):
    lines+=input()+"\n"

print(lines)

Or

lines = []
while True:
    line = input()
    if line:
        lines.append(line)
    else:
        break
text = '\n'.join(lines)

How to move all HTML element children to another parent using JavaScript?

Here's a simple function:

function setParent(el, newParent)
{
    newParent.appendChild(el);
}

el's childNodes are the elements to be moved, newParent is the element el will be moved to, so you would execute the function like:

var l = document.getElementById('old-parent').childNodes.length;
var a = document.getElementById('old-parent');
var b = document.getElementById('new-parent');
for (var i = l; i >= 0; i--)
{
    setParent(a.childNodes[0], b);
}

Is `shouldOverrideUrlLoading` really deprecated? What can I use instead?

Implement both deprecated and non-deprecated methods like below. First one is to handle API level 21 and higher, second one is handle lower than API level 21

webViewClient = object : WebViewClient() {
.
.
        @RequiresApi(Build.VERSION_CODES.LOLLIPOP)
        override fun shouldOverrideUrlLoading(view: WebView?, request: WebResourceRequest?): Boolean {
            parseUri(request?.url)
            return true
        }

        @SuppressWarnings("deprecation")
        override fun shouldOverrideUrlLoading(view: WebView?, url: String?): Boolean {
            parseUri(Uri.parse(url))
            return true
        }
}

Pandas "Can only compare identically-labeled DataFrame objects" error

Here's a small example to demonstrate this (which only applied to DataFrames, not Series, until Pandas 0.19 where it applies to both):

In [1]: df1 = pd.DataFrame([[1, 2], [3, 4]])

In [2]: df2 = pd.DataFrame([[3, 4], [1, 2]], index=[1, 0])

In [3]: df1 == df2
Exception: Can only compare identically-labeled DataFrame objects

One solution is to sort the index first (Note: some functions require sorted indexes):

In [4]: df2.sort_index(inplace=True)

In [5]: df1 == df2
Out[5]:
      0     1
0  True  True
1  True  True

Note: == is also sensitive to the order of columns, so you may have to use sort_index(axis=1):

In [11]: df1.sort_index().sort_index(axis=1) == df2.sort_index().sort_index(axis=1)
Out[11]:
      0     1
0  True  True
1  True  True

Note: This can still raise (if the index/columns aren't identically labelled after sorting).

How do you pull first 100 characters of a string in PHP

You could use substr, I guess:

$string2 = substr($string1, 0, 100);

or mb_substr for multi-byte strings:

$string2 = mb_substr($string1, 0, 100);

You could create a function wich uses this function and appends for instance '...' to indicate that it was shortened. (I guess there's allready a hundred similar replies when this is posted...)

How to parse XML using jQuery?

I went the way of jQuery's .parseXML() however found that the XML path syntax of 'Page[Name="test"] > controls > test' wouldn't work (if anyone knows why please shout out!).

Instead I chained together the individual .find() results into something that looked like this:

$xmlDoc.find('Page[Name="test"]')
       .find('contols')
       .find('test')

The result achieves the same as what I would expect the one shot find.

Angular 2: How to style host element of the component?

I have found a solution how to style just the component element. I have not found any documentation how it works, but you can put attributes values into the component directive, under the 'host' property like this:

@Component({
    ...
    styles: [`
      :host {
        'style': 'display: table; height: 100%',
        'class': 'myClass'
      }`
})
export class MyComponent
{
    constructor() {}

    // Also you can use @HostBinding decorator
    @HostBinding('style.background-color') public color: string = 'lime';
    @HostBinding('class.highlighted') public highlighted: boolean = true;
}

UPDATE: As Günter Zöchbauer mentioned, there was a bug, and now you can style the host element even in css file, like this:

:host{ ... }
