How schedule build in Jenkins?

The steps for schedule jobs in Jenkins:

  1. click on "Configure" of the job requirement
  2. scroll down to "Build Triggers" - subtitle
  3. Click on the checkBox of Build periodically
  4. Add time schedule in the Schedule field, for example, @midnight

enter image description here

Note: under the schedule field, can see the last and the next date-time run.

Jenkins also supports predefined aliases to schedule build:

@hourly, @daily, @weekly, @monthly, @midnight

@hourly --> Build every hour at the beginning of the hour --> 0 * * * *

@daily, @midnight --> Build every day at midnight --> 0 0 * * *

@weekly --> Build every week at midnight on Sunday morning --> 0 0 * * 0

@monthly --> Build every month at midnight of the first day of the month --> 0 0 1 * *

What does "wrong number of arguments (1 for 0)" mean in Ruby?

I assume you called a function with an argument which was defined without taking any.

def f()
  puts "hello world"
end

f(1)   # <= wrong number of arguments (1 for 0)

open new tab(window) by clicking a link in jquery

Try this:

window.open(url, '_blank');

This will open in new tab (if your code is synchronous and in this case it is. in other case it would open a window)

Laravel Eloquent update just if changes have been made

You're already doing it!

save() will check if something in the model has changed. If it hasn't it won't run a db query.

Here's the relevant part of code in Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model@performUpdate:

protected function performUpdate(Builder $query, array $options = [])
{
    $dirty = $this->getDirty();

    if (count($dirty) > 0)
    {
        // runs update query
    }

    return true;
}

The getDirty() method simply compares the current attributes with a copy saved in original when the model is created. This is done in the syncOriginal() method:

public function __construct(array $attributes = array())
{
    $this->bootIfNotBooted();

    $this->syncOriginal();

    $this->fill($attributes);
}

public function syncOriginal()
{
    $this->original = $this->attributes;

    return $this;
}

If you want to check if the model is dirty just call isDirty():

if($product->isDirty()){
    // changes have been made
}

Or if you want to check a certain attribute:

if($product->isDirty('price')){
    // price has changed
}

How to convert a char array to a string?

The string class has a constructor that takes a NULL-terminated C-string:

char arr[ ] = "This is a test";

string str(arr);

// You can also assign directly to a string.
str = "This is another string";

// or
str = arr;

How to Convert double to int in C?

This is the notorious floating point rounding issue. Just add a very small number, to correct the issue.

double a;
a=3669.0;
int b;
b=a+ 1e-9;

How can I download HTML source in C#

The newest, most recent, up to date answer
This post is really old (it's 7 years old when I answered it), so no one of the other answers used the new and recommended way, which is HttpClient class.

HttpClient is considered the new API and it should replace the old ones (WebClient and WebRequest)

string url = "page url";
HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
using (HttpResponseMessage response = client.GetAsync(url).Result)
{
   using (HttpContent content = response.Content)
   {
      string result = content.ReadAsStringAsync().Result;
   }
}

for more information about how to use the HttpClient class (especially in async cases), you can refer this question

NOTE 1: If you want to use async/await

string url = "page url";
HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); // actually only one object should be created by Application
using (HttpResponseMessage response = await client.GetAsync(url))
{
   using (HttpContent content = response.Content)
   {
      string result = await content.ReadAsStringAsync();
   }
}

NOTE 2: If use C# 8 features

string url = "page url";
HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
using HttpResponseMessage response = await client.GetAsync(url);
using HttpContent content = response.Content;
string result = await content.ReadAsStringAsync();

Visual Studio Code cannot detect installed git

This can happen after upgrading macOS. Try running git from a terminal and see if the error message begins with:

xcrun: error: invalid active developer path (/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools) ...

If so the fix is to run

xcode-select --install

from the terminal. see this answer for more details

How do you specify table padding in CSS? ( table, not cell padding )

The easiest/best supported method is to use <table cellspacing="10">

The css way: border-spacing (not supported by IE I don't think)

_x000D_
_x000D_
    <!-- works in firefox, opera, safari, chrome -->_x000D_
    <style type="text/css">_x000D_
    _x000D_
    table.foobar {_x000D_
     border: solid black 1px;_x000D_
     border-spacing: 10px;_x000D_
    }_x000D_
    table.foobar td {_x000D_
     border: solid black 1px;_x000D_
    }_x000D_
    _x000D_
    _x000D_
    </style>_x000D_
    _x000D_
    <table class="foobar" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">_x000D_
    <tr><td>foo</td><td>bar</td></tr>_x000D_
    </table>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Edit: if you just want to pad the cell content, and not space them you can simply use

<table cellpadding="10">

OR

td {
    padding: 10px;
}

file_put_contents - failed to open stream: Permission denied

Furthermore, as said in file_put_contents man page in php.net, beware of naming issues.

file_put_contents($dir."/file.txt", "hello");

may not work (even though it is correct on syntax), but

file_put_contents("$dir/file.txt", "hello");

works. I experienced this on different php installed servers.

Return JSON with error status code MVC

The thing that worked for me (and that I took from another stackoverflow response), is to set the flag:

How would I get a cron job to run every 30 minutes?

If your cron job is running on Mac OS X only, you may want to use launchd instead.

From Scheduling Timed Jobs (official Apple docs):

Note: Although it is still supported, cron is not a recommended solution. It has been deprecated in favor of launchd.

You can find additional information (such as the launchd Wikipedia page) with a simple web search.

How to convert a selection to lowercase or uppercase in Sublime Text

As a bonus for setting up a Title Case shortcut key Ctrl+kt (while holding Ctrl, press k and t), go to Preferences --> Keybindings-User

If you have a blank file open and close with the square brackets:

[  { "keys": ["ctrl+k", "ctrl+t"], "command": "title_case" } ]

Otherwise if you already have stuff in there, just make sure if it comes after another command to prepend a comma "," and add:

{ "keys": ["ctrl+k", "ctrl+t"], "command": "title_case" }

How to compare strings in C conditional preprocessor-directives

[UPDATE: 2021.01.04]

One thing that has changed since I first posted this in 2014, is the format of #pragma message.

Nowadays, the parens are required!

#pragma message ("USER IS " USER)
#pragma message ("USER_VS IS " USER_VS)

That said, the 2016 code (using characters, not strings) still works in VS2019.

But, as @Artyer points out, the version involving c_strcmp will NOT work in ANY modern compiler.

[UPDATE: 2018.05.03]

CAVEAT: Not all compilers implement the C++11 specification in the same way. The below code works in the compiler I tested on, while many commenters used a different compiler.

Quoting from Shafik Yaghmour's answer at: Computing length of a C string at compile time. Is this really a constexpr?

Constant expressions are not guaranteed to be evaluated at compile time, we only have a non-normative quote from draft C++ standard section 5.19 Constant expressions that says this though:

[...]>[ Note: Constant expressions can be evaluated during translation.—end note ]

That word can makes all the difference in the world.

So, YMMV on this (or any) answer involving constexpr, depending on the compiler writer's interpretation of the spec.

[UPDATED 2016.01.31]

As some didn't like my earlier answer because it avoided the whole compile time string compare aspect of the OP by accomplishing the goal with no need for string compares, here is a more detailed answer.

You can't! Not in C98 or C99. Not even in C11. No amount of MACRO manipulation will change this.

The definition of const-expression used in the #if does not allow strings.

It does allow characters, so if you limit yourself to characters you might use this:

#define JACK 'J'
#define QUEEN 'Q'

#define CHOICE JACK // or QUEEN, your choice

#if 'J' == CHOICE
#define USER "jack"
#define USER_VS "queen"
#elif 'Q' == CHOICE
#define USER "queen"
#define USER_VS "jack"
#else
#define USER "anonymous1"
#define USER_VS "anonymous2"
#endif

#pragma message "USER IS " USER
#pragma message "USER_VS IS " USER_VS

You can! In C++11. If you define a compile time helper function for the comparison.

[2021.01.04: CAVEAT: This does not work in any MODERN compiler. See comment by @Artyer.]

// compares two strings in compile time constant fashion
constexpr int c_strcmp( char const* lhs, char const* rhs )
{
    return (('\0' == lhs[0]) && ('\0' == rhs[0])) ? 0
        :  (lhs[0] != rhs[0]) ? (lhs[0] - rhs[0])
        : c_strcmp( lhs+1, rhs+1 );
}
// some compilers may require ((int)lhs[0] - (int)rhs[0])

#define JACK "jack"
#define QUEEN "queen"

#define USER JACK // or QUEEN, your choice

#if 0 == c_strcmp( USER, JACK )
#define USER_VS QUEEN
#elif 0 == c_strcmp( USER, QUEEN )
#define USER_VS JACK
#else
#define USER_VS "unknown"
#endif

#pragma message "USER IS " USER
#pragma message "USER_VS IS " USER_VS

So, ultimately, you will have to change the way you accomlish your goal of choosing final string values for USER and USER_VS.

You can't do compile time string compares in C99, but you can do compile time choosing of strings.

If you really must do compile time sting comparisons, then you need to change to C++11 or newer variants that allow that feature.

[ORIGINAL ANSWER FOLLOWS]

Try:

#define jack_VS queen
#define queen_VS jack

#define USER jack // jack or queen, your choice
#define USER_VS USER##_VS  // jack_VS or queen_VS

// stringify usage: S(USER) or S(USER_VS) when you need the string form.
#define S(U) S_(U)
#define S_(U) #U

UPDATE: ANSI token pasting is sometimes less than obvious. ;-D

Putting a single # before a macro causes it to be changed into a string of its value, instead of its bare value.

Putting a double ## between two tokens causes them to be concatenated into a single token.

So, the macro USER_VS has the expansion jack_VS or queen_VS, depending on how you set USER.

The stringify macro S(...) uses macro indirection so the value of the named macro gets converted into a string. instead of the name of the macro.

Thus USER##_VS becomes jack_VS (or queen_VS), depending on how you set USER.

Later, when the stringify macro is used as S(USER_VS) the value of USER_VS (jack_VS in this example) is passed to the indirection step S_(jack_VS) which converts its value (queen) into a string "queen".

If you set USER to queen then the final result is the string "jack".

For token concatenation, see: https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/Concatenation.html

For token string conversion, see: https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/Stringification.html#Stringification

Find integer index of rows with NaN in pandas dataframe

Here is another simpler take:

df = pd.DataFrame([[0,1,3,4,np.nan,2],[3,5,6,np.nan,3,3]])

inds = np.asarray(df.isnull()).nonzero()

(array([0, 1], dtype=int64), array([4, 3], dtype=int64))

Could someone explain this for me - for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++)

for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++) {
  //code
}

In simplest terms

int i = 0;
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 1
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1;  //i = 2
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1;  //i = 3
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 4
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 5
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 6
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 7
if (i < 8) //code
i = i + 1; //i = 8
if (i < 8) //code - this if won't pass

How to define a two-dimensional array?

You can create an empty two dimensional list by nesting two or more square bracing or third bracket ([], separated by comma) with a square bracing, just like below:

Matrix = [[], []]

Now suppose you want to append 1 to Matrix[0][0] then you type:

Matrix[0].append(1)

Now, type Matrix and hit Enter. The output will be:

[[1], []]

If you entered the following statement instead

Matrix[1].append(1)

then the Matrix would be

[[], [1]]

max value of integer

In C, the language itself does not determine the representation of certain datatypes. It can vary from machine to machine, on embedded systems the int can be 16 bit wide, though usually it is 32 bit.

The only requirement is that short int <= int <= long int by size. Also, there is a recommendation that int should represent the native capacity of the processor.

All types are signed. The unsigned modifier allows you to use the highest bit as part of the value (otherwise it is reserved for the sign bit).

Here's a short table of the possible values for the possible data types:

          width                     minimum                         maximum
signed    8 bit                        -128                            +127
signed   16 bit                     -32 768                         +32 767
signed   32 bit              -2 147 483 648                  +2 147 483 647
signed   64 bit  -9 223 372 036 854 775 808      +9 223 372 036 854 775 807
unsigned  8 bit                           0                            +255
unsigned 16 bit                           0                         +65 535
unsigned 32 bit                           0                  +4 294 967 295
unsigned 64 bit                           0     +18 446 744 073 709 551 615

In Java, the Java Language Specification determines the representation of the data types.

The order is: byte 8 bits, short 16 bits, int 32 bits, long 64 bits. All of these types are signed, there are no unsigned versions. However, bit manipulations treat the numbers as they were unsigned (that is, handling all bits correctly).

The character data type char is 16 bits wide, unsigned, and holds characters using UTF-16 encoding (however, it is possible to assign a char an arbitrary unsigned 16 bit integer that represents an invalid character codepoint)

          width                     minimum                         maximum

SIGNED
byte:     8 bit                        -128                            +127
short:   16 bit                     -32 768                         +32 767
int:     32 bit              -2 147 483 648                  +2 147 483 647
long:    64 bit  -9 223 372 036 854 775 808      +9 223 372 036 854 775 807

UNSIGNED
char     16 bit                           0                         +65 535

Is there a CSS selector for elements containing certain text?

I find the attribute option to be your best bet if you don't want to use javascript or jquery.

E.g to style all table cells with the word ready, In HTML do this:

 <td status*="ready">Ready</td>

Then in css:

td[status*="ready"] {
        color: red;
    }

Rails ActiveRecord date between

there are several ways. You can use this method:

start = @selected_date.beginning_of_day
end = @selected_date.end_of_day
@comments = Comment.where("DATE(created_at) BETWEEN ? AND ?", start, end)

Or this:

@comments = Comment.where(:created_at => @selected_date.beginning_of_day..@selected_date.end_of_day)

Check whether a path is valid

Get the invalid chars from System.IO.Path.GetInvalidPathChars(); and check if your string (Directory path) contains those or not.

Get the Selected value from the Drop down box in PHP

You have to give a name attribute on your <select /> element, and then use it from the $_POST or $_GET (depending on how you transmit data) arrays in PHP. Be sure to sanitize user input, though.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/hamcrest/SelfDescribing

As a general rule, always make sure hamcrest is before any other testing libraries on the classpath, as many such libraries include hamcrest classes and may therefore conflict with the hamcrest version you're using. This will resolve most problems of the type you're describing.

How can I retrieve the remote git address of a repo?

The long boring solution, which is not involved with CLI, you can manually navigate to:

your local repo folder ? .git folder (hidden) ? config file

then choose your text editor to open it and look for url located under the [remote "origin"] section.

C++: what regex library should I use?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I tried out a few things today, and with the stuff we're trying to do, I opted for the simplest solution where I don't have to download any other 3rd-party library. In the end, I #include <regex.h> and used the standard C POSIX calls regcomp() and regexec(). Not C++, but in a pinch this proved to be the easiest.

How to install PHP mbstring on CentOS 6.2

I have experienced the same issue before. In my case, I needed to install php-mbstring extension on GoDaddy VPS server. None of above solutions did work for me.

What I've found is to install PHP extensions using WHM (Web Hosting Manager) of GoDaddy. Anyone who use GoDaddy VPS server can access this page with the following address.

http://{Your_Server_IP_Address}:2087

On this page, you can easily find Easy Apache software that can help you to install/upgrade php components and extensions. You can select currently installed profile and customize and then provision the profile. Everything with Easy Apache is explanatory.

I remember that I did very similar things for HostGator server, but I don't remember how actually I did for profile update.

Edit: When you have got the server which supports Web Hosting Manager, then you can add/update/remove php extensions on WHM. On godaddy servers, it's even recommended to update PHP ini settings on WHM.

React.js: onChange event for contentEditable

Edit 2015

Someone has made a project on NPM with my solution: https://github.com/lovasoa/react-contenteditable

Edit 06/2016: I've just encoutered a new problem that occurs when the browser tries to "reformat" the html you just gave him, leading to component always re-rendering. See

Edit 07/2016: here's my production contentEditable implementation. It has some additional options over react-contenteditable that you might want, including:

  • locking
  • imperative API allowing to embed html fragments
  • ability to reformat the content

Summary:

FakeRainBrigand's solution has worked quite fine for me for some time until I got new problems. ContentEditables are a pain, and are not really easy to deal with React...

This JSFiddle demonstrates the problem.

As you can see, when you type some characters and click on Clear, the content is not cleared. This is because we try to reset the contenteditable to the last known virtual dom value.

So it seems that:

  • You need shouldComponentUpdate to prevent caret position jumps
  • You can't rely on React's VDOM diffing algorithm if you use shouldComponentUpdate this way.

So you need an extra line so that whenever shouldComponentUpdate returns yes, you are sure the DOM content is actually updated.

So the version here adds a componentDidUpdate and becomes:

var ContentEditable = React.createClass({
    render: function(){
        return <div id="contenteditable"
            onInput={this.emitChange}
            onBlur={this.emitChange}
            contentEditable
            dangerouslySetInnerHTML={{__html: this.props.html}}></div>;
    },

    shouldComponentUpdate: function(nextProps){
        return nextProps.html !== this.getDOMNode().innerHTML;
    },

    componentDidUpdate: function() {
        if ( this.props.html !== this.getDOMNode().innerHTML ) {
           this.getDOMNode().innerHTML = this.props.html;
        }
    },

    emitChange: function(){
        var html = this.getDOMNode().innerHTML;
        if (this.props.onChange && html !== this.lastHtml) {
            this.props.onChange({
                target: {
                    value: html
                }
            });
        }
        this.lastHtml = html;
    }
});

The Virtual dom stays outdated, and it may not be the most efficient code, but at least it does work :) My bug is resolved

Details:

1) If you put shouldComponentUpdate to avoid caret jumps, then the contenteditable never rerenders (at least on keystrokes)

2) If the component never rerenders on key stroke, then React keeps an outdated virtual dom for this contenteditable.

3) If React keeps an outdated version of the contenteditable in its virtual dom tree, then if you try to reset the contenteditable to the value outdated in the virtual dom, then during the virtual dom diff, React will compute that there are no changes to apply to the DOM!

This happens mostly when:

  • you have an empty contenteditable initially (shouldComponentUpdate=true,prop="",previous vdom=N/A),
  • the user types some text and you prevent renderings (shouldComponentUpdate=false,prop=text,previous vdom="")
  • after user clicks a validation button, you want to empty that field (shouldComponentUpdate=false,prop="",previous vdom="")
  • as both the newly produced and old vdom are "", React does not touch the dom.

CSS Background image not loading

i can bring a little help here... it seems that when you use say background-image: url("/images/image.jpg"); or background-image: url("images/image.jpg"); or background-image: url("../images/image.jpg"); different browsers appear to see this differently. the first the browser seems to see this as domain.com/images/image.jpg.... the second the browser sees at domain.com/css/images/image.jpg.... and the final the browser sees as domain.com/PathToImageFile/image.jpg... hopes this helps

C programming in Visual Studio

Yes, you very well can learn C using Visual Studio.

Visual Studio comes with its own C compiler, which is actually the C++ compiler. Just use the .c file extension to save your source code.

You don't have to be using the IDE to compile C. You can write the source in Notepad, and compile it in command line using Developer Command Prompt which comes with Visual Studio.

Open the Developer Command Prompt, enter the directory you are working in, use the cl command to compile your C code.

For example, cl helloworld.c compiles a file named helloworld.c.

Android, How to create option Menu

Android UI programming is a little bit tricky. To enable the Options menu, in addition to the code you wrote, we also need to call setHasOptionsMenu(true) in your overriden method OnCreate(). Hope this will help you out.

HTML5 record audio to file

You can use Recordmp3js from GitHub to achieve your requirements. You can record from user's microphone and then get the file as an mp3. Finally upload it to your server.

I used this in my demo. There is a already a sample available with the source code by the author in this location : https://github.com/Audior/Recordmp3js

The demo is here: http://audior.ec/recordmp3js/

But currently works only on Chrome and Firefox.

Seems to work fine and pretty simple. Hope this helps.

SyntaxError: unexpected EOF while parsing

This can simply also mean you are missing or have too many parentheses. For example this has too many, and will result in unexpected EOF:

Accuracy Score ValueError: Can't Handle mix of binary and continuous target

Despite the plethora of wrong answers here that attempt to circumvent the error by numerically manipulating the predictions, the root cause of your error is a theoretical and not computational issue: you are trying to use a classification metric (accuracy) in a regression (i.e. numeric prediction) model (LinearRegression), which is meaningless.

Just like the majority of performance metrics, accuracy compares apples to apples (i.e true labels of 0/1 with predictions again of 0/1); so, when you ask the function to compare binary true labels (apples) with continuous predictions (oranges), you get an expected error, where the message tells you exactly what the problem is from a computational point of view:

Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous target

Despite that the message doesn't tell you directly that you are trying to compute a metric that is invalid for your problem (and we shouldn't actually expect it to go that far), it is certainly a good thing that scikit-learn at least gives you a direct and explicit warning that you are attempting something wrong; this is not necessarily the case with other frameworks - see for example the behavior of Keras in a very similar situation, where you get no warning at all, and one just ends up complaining for low "accuracy" in a regression setting...

I am super-surprised with all the other answers here (including the accepted & highly upvoted one) effectively suggesting to manipulate the predictions in order to simply get rid of the error; it's true that, once we end up with a set of numbers, we can certainly start mingling with them in various ways (rounding, thresholding etc) in order to make our code behave, but this of course does not mean that our numeric manipulations are meaningful in the specific context of the ML problem we are trying to solve.

So, to wrap up: the problem is that you are applying a metric (accuracy) that is inappropriate for your model (LinearRegression): if you are in a classification setting, you should change your model (e.g. use LogisticRegression instead); if you are in a regression (i.e. numeric prediction) setting, you should change the metric. Check the list of metrics available in scikit-learn, where you can confirm that accuracy is used only in classification.

Compare also the situation with a recent SO question, where the OP is trying to get the accuracy of a list of models:

models = []
models.append(('SVM', svm.SVC()))
models.append(('LR', LogisticRegression()))
models.append(('LDA', LinearDiscriminantAnalysis()))
models.append(('KNN', KNeighborsClassifier()))
models.append(('CART', DecisionTreeClassifier()))
models.append(('NB', GaussianNB()))
#models.append(('SGDRegressor', linear_model.SGDRegressor())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('BayesianRidge', linear_model.BayesianRidge())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('LassoLars', linear_model.LassoLars())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('ARDRegression', linear_model.ARDRegression())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('PassiveAggressiveRegressor', linear_model.PassiveAggressiveRegressor())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('TheilSenRegressor', linear_model.TheilSenRegressor())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets
#models.append(('LinearRegression', linear_model.LinearRegression())) #ValueError: Classification metrics can't handle a mix of binary and continuous targets

where the first 6 models work OK, while all the rest (commented-out) ones give the same error. By now, you should be able to convince yourself that all the commented-out models are regression (and not classification) ones, hence the justified error.

A last important note: it may sound legitimate for someone to claim:

OK, but I want to use linear regression and then just round/threshold the outputs, effectively treating the predictions as "probabilities" and thus converting the model into a classifier

Actually, this has already been suggested in several other answers here, implicitly or not; again, this is an invalid approach (and the fact that you have negative predictions should have already alerted you that they cannot be interpreted as probabilities). Andrew Ng, in his popular Machine Learning course at Coursera, explains why this is a bad idea - see his Lecture 6.1 - Logistic Regression | Classification at Youtube (explanation starts at ~ 3:00), as well as section 4.2 Why Not Linear Regression [for classification]? of the (highly recommended and freely available) textbook An Introduction to Statistical Learning by Hastie, Tibshirani and coworkers...

How to initailize byte array of 100 bytes in java with all 0's

A new byte array will automatically be initialized with all zeroes. You don't have to do anything.

The more general approach to initializing with other values, is to use the Arrays class.

import java.util.Arrays;

byte[] bytes = new byte[100];
Arrays.fill( bytes, (byte) 1 );

How to Call a Function inside a Render in React/Jsx

The fix was at the accepted answer. Yet if someone wants to know why it worked and why the implementation in the SO question didn't work,

First, functions are first class objects in JavaScript. That means they are treated like any other variable. Function can be passed as an argument to other functions, can be returned by another function and can be assigned as a value to a variable. Read more here.

So we use that variable to invoke the function by adding parentheses () at the end.

One thing, If you have a function that returns a funtion and you just need to call that returned function, you can just have double paranthesis when you call the outer function ()().

Combine two OR-queries with AND in Mongoose

It's probably easiest to create your query object directly as:

  Test.find({
      $and: [
          { $or: [{a: 1}, {b: 1}] },
          { $or: [{c: 1}, {d: 1}] }
      ]
  }, function (err, results) {
      ...
  }

But you can also use the Query#and helper that's available in recent 3.x Mongoose releases:

  Test.find()
      .and([
          { $or: [{a: 1}, {b: 1}] },
          { $or: [{c: 1}, {d: 1}] }
      ])
      .exec(function (err, results) {
          ...
      });

How to compare two lists in python?

If you mean lists, try ==:

l1 = [1,2,3]
l2 = [1,2,3,4]

l1 == l2 # False

If you mean array:

l1 = array('l', [1, 2, 3])
l2 = array('d', [1.0, 2.0, 3.0])
l1 == l2 # True
l2 = array('d', [1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0])
l1 == l2 # False

If you want to compare strings (per your comment):

date_string  = u'Thu Sep 16 13:14:15 CDT 2010'
date_string2 = u'Thu Sep 16 14:14:15 CDT 2010'
date_string == date_string2 # False

How to install and run Typescript locally in npm?

Note if you are using typings do the following:

rm -r typings
typings install

If your doing the angular 2 tutorial use this:

rm -r typings
npm run postinstall
npm start

if the postinstall command dosen't work, try installing typings globally like so:

npm install -g typings

you can also try the following as opposed to postinstall:

typings install

and you should have this issue fixed!

How to see remote tags?

You can list the tags on remote repository with ls-remote, and then check if it's there. Supposing the remote reference name is origin in the following.

git ls-remote --tags origin

And you can list tags local with tag.

git tag

You can compare the results manually or in script.

How do I format my oracle queries so the columns don't wrap?

I use a generic query I call "dump" (why? I don't know) that looks like this:

SET NEWPAGE NONE
SET PAGESIZE 0
SET SPACE 0
SET LINESIZE 16000
SET ECHO OFF
SET FEEDBACK OFF
SET VERIFY OFF
SET HEADING OFF
SET TERMOUT OFF
SET TRIMOUT ON
SET TRIMSPOOL ON
SET COLSEP |

spool &1..txt

@@&1

spool off
exit

I then call SQL*Plus passing the actual SQL script I want to run as an argument:

sqlplus -S user/password@database @dump.sql my_real_query.sql

The result is written to a file

my_real_query.sql.txt

.

How to calculate time elapsed in bash script?

Bash has a handy SECONDS builtin variable that tracks the number of seconds that have passed since the shell was started. This variable retains its properties when assigned to, and the value returned after the assignment is the number of seconds since the assignment plus the assigned value.

Thus, you can just set SECONDS to 0 before starting the timed event, simply read SECONDS after the event, and do the time arithmetic before displaying.

SECONDS=0
# do some work
duration=$SECONDS
echo "$(($duration / 60)) minutes and $(($duration % 60)) seconds elapsed."

As this solution doesn't depend on date +%s (which is a GNU extension), it's portable to all systems supported by Bash.

How to count down in for loop?

First I recommand you can try use print and observe the action:

for i in range(0, 5, 1):
    print i

the result:

0
1
2
3
4

You can understand the function principle. In fact, range scan range is from 0 to 5-1. It equals 0 <= i < 5

When you really understand for-loop in python, I think its time we get back to business. Let's focus your problem.

You want to use a DECREMENT for-loop in python. I suggest a for-loop tutorial for example.

for i in range(5, 0, -1):
    print i

the result:

5
4
3
2
1

Thus it can be seen, it equals 5 >= i > 0

You want to implement your java code in python:

for (int index = last-1; index >= posn; index--)

It should code this:

for i in range(last-1, posn-1, -1)

Are there any log file about Windows Services Status?

Under Windows 7, open the Event Viewer. You can do this the way Gishu suggested for XP, typing eventvwr from the command line, or by opening the Control Panel, selecting System and Security, then Administrative Tools and finally Event Viewer. It may require UAC approval or an admin password.

In the left pane, expand Windows Logs and then System. You can filter the logs with Filter Current Log... from the Actions pane on the right and selecting "Service Control Manager." Or, depending on why you want this information, you might just need to look through the Error entries.

enter image description here

The actual log entry pane (not shown) is pretty user-friendly and self-explanatory. You'll be looking for messages like the following:

"The Praxco Assistant service entered the stopped state."
"The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service entered the running state."
"The MySQL service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s)."

Variable not accessible when initialized outside function

Declare systemStatus in an outer scope and assign it in an onload handler.

systemStatus = null;

function onloadHandler(evt) {
    systemStatus = document.getElementById("....");
}

Or if you don't want the onload handler, put your script tag at the bottom of your HTML.

How to load/reference a file as a File instance from the classpath

I find this one-line code as most efficient and useful:

File file = new File(ClassLoader.getSystemResource("com/path/to/file.txt").getFile());

Works like a charm.

Unit testing with Spring Security

I would take a look at Spring's abstract test classes and mock objects which are talked about here. They provide a powerful way of auto-wiring your Spring managed objects making unit and integration testing easier.

How can I set multiple CSS styles in JavaScript?

Using Object.assign:

Object.assign(yourelement.style,{fontsize:"12px",left:"200px",top:"100px"});

This also gives you ability to merge styles, instead of rewriting the CSS style.

You can also make a shortcut function:

const setStylesOnElement = function(styles, element){
    Object.assign(element.style, styles);
}

SQL Server query to find all current database names

Using BigDecimal to work with currencies

I would recommend a little research on Money Pattern. Martin Fowler in his book Analysis pattern has covered this in more detail.

public class Money {

    private static final Currency USD = Currency.getInstance("USD");
    private static final RoundingMode DEFAULT_ROUNDING = RoundingMode.HALF_EVEN;

    private final BigDecimal amount;
    private final Currency currency;

    public static Money dollars(BigDecimal amount) {
        return new Money(amount, USD);
    }

    Money(BigDecimal amount, Currency currency) {
        this(amount, currency, DEFAULT_ROUNDING);
    }

    Money(BigDecimal amount, Currency currency, RoundingMode rounding) {
        this.currency = currency;
        this.amount = amount.setScale(currency.getDefaultFractionDigits(), rounding);
    }

    public BigDecimal getAmount() {
        return amount;
    }

    public Currency getCurrency() {
        return currency;
    }

    @Override
    public String toString() {
        return getCurrency().getSymbol() + " " + getAmount();
    }

    public String toString(Locale locale) {
        return getCurrency().getSymbol(locale) + " " + getAmount();
    }
}

Coming to the usage:

You would represent all monies using Money object as opposed to BigDecimal. Representing money as big decimal will mean that you will have the to format the money every where you display it. Just imagine if the display standard changes. You will have to make the edits all over the place. Instead using the Money pattern you centralize the formatting of money to a single location.

Money price = Money.dollars(38.28);
System.out.println(price);

Call Python script from bash with argument

The script will be executed without output.

Is there a kind of Firebug or JavaScript console debug for Android?

Chrome has a very nice feature called 'USB Web debugging' which allows to see the mobile device's debug console on your PC when connected via USB.

Exception : mockito wanted but not invoked, Actually there were zero interactions with this mock

@jk1 answer is perfect, since @igor Ganapolsky asked, why can't we use Mockito.mock here? i post this answer.

For that we have provide one setter method for myobj and set the myobj value with mocked object.

class MyClass {
    MyInterface myObj;

    public void abc() {
        myObj.myMethodToBeVerified (new String("a"), new String("b"));
    }

    public void setMyObj(MyInterface obj)
    {
        this.myObj=obj;
    }
}

In our Test class, we have to write below code

class MyClassTest {

MyClass myClass = new MyClass();

    @Mock
    MyInterface myInterface;

    @test
    testAbc() {
        myclass.setMyObj(myInterface); //it is good to have in @before method
        myClass.abc();
        verify(myInterface).myMethodToBeVerified(new String("a"), new String("b"));
     }
}

How to normalize a NumPy array to within a certain range?

A simple solution is using the scalers offered by the sklearn.preprocessing library.

scaler = sk.MinMaxScaler(feature_range=(0, 250))
scaler = scaler.fit(X)
X_scaled = scaler.transform(X)
# Checking reconstruction
X_rec = scaler.inverse_transform(X_scaled)

The error X_rec-X will be zero. You can adjust the feature_range for your needs, or even use a standart scaler sk.StandardScaler()

How to export database schema in Oracle to a dump file

It depends on which version of Oracle? Older versions require exp (export), newer versions use expdp (data pump); exp was deprecated but still works most of the time.

Before starting, note that Data Pump exports to the server-side Oracle "directory", which is an Oracle symbolic location mapped in the database to a physical location. There may be a default directory (DATA_PUMP_DIR), check by querying DBA_DIRECTORIES:

  SQL> select * from dba_directories;

... and if not, create one

  SQL> create directory DATA_PUMP_DIR as '/oracle/dumps';
  SQL> grant all on directory DATA_PUMP_DIR to myuser; -- DBAs dont need this grant

Assuming you can connect as the SYSTEM user, or another DBA, you can export any schema like so, to the default directory:

 $ expdp system/manager schemas=user1 dumpfile=user1.dpdmp

Or specifying a specific directory, add directory=<directory name>:

 C:\> expdp system/manager schemas=user1 dumpfile=user1.dpdmp directory=DUMPDIR

With older export utility, you can export to your working directory, and even on a client machine that is remote from the server, using:

 $ exp system/manager owner=user1 file=user1.dmp

Make sure the export is done in the correct charset. If you haven't setup your environment, the Oracle client charset may not match the DB charset, and Oracle will do charset conversion, which may not be what you want. You'll see a warning, if so, then you'll want to repeat the export after setting NLS_LANG environment variable so the client charset matches the database charset. This will cause Oracle to skip charset conversion.

Example for American UTF8 (UNIX):

 $ export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8

Windows uses SET, example using Japanese UTF8:

 C:\> set NLS_LANG=Japanese_Japan.AL32UTF8

More info on Data Pump here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28319/dp_export.htm#g1022624

Checking something isEmpty in Javascript?

If you're testing for an empty string:

if(myVar === ''){ // do stuff };

If you're checking for a variable that has been declared, but not defined:

if(myVar === null){ // do stuff };

If you're checking for a variable that may not be defined:

if(myVar === undefined){ // do stuff };

If you're checking both i.e, either variable is null or undefined:

if(myVar == null){ // do stuff };

Post-increment and pre-increment within a 'for' loop produce same output

There is a difference if:

int main()
{
  for(int i(0); i<2; printf("i = post increment in loop %d\n", i++))
  {
    cout << "inside post incement = " << i << endl;
  }

  for(int i(0); i<2; printf("i = pre increment in loop %d\n",++i))
  {
    cout << "inside pre incement = " << i << endl;
  }

  return 0;
}

The result:

inside post incement = 0

i = post increment in loop 0

inside post incement = 1

i = post increment in loop 1

The second for loop:

inside pre incement = 0

i = pre increment in loop 1

inside pre incement = 1

i = pre increment in loop 2

String.Format alternative in C++

You can use sprintf in combination with std::string.c_str().

c_str() returns a const char* and works with sprintf:

string a = "test";
string b = "text.txt";
string c = "text1.txt";
char* x = new char[a.length() + b.length() + c.length() + 32];

sprintf(x, "%s %s > %s", a.c_str(), b.c_str(), c.c_str() );

string str = x;
delete[] x;

or you can use a pre-allocated char array if you know the size:

string a = "test";
string b = "text.txt";
string c = "text1.txt";
char x[256];

sprintf(x, "%s %s > %s", a.c_str(), b.c_str(), c.c_str() );

What can lead to "IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor" during os.system()?

You get this error message if a Python file was closed from "the outside", i.e. not from the file object's close() method:

>>> f = open(".bashrc")
>>> os.close(f.fileno())
>>> del f
close failed in file object destructor:
IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor

The line del f deletes the last reference to the file object, causing its destructor file.__del__ to be called. The internal state of the file object indicates the file is still open since f.close() was never called, so the destructor tries to close the file. The OS subsequently throws an error because of the attempt to close a file that's not open.

Since the implementation of os.system() does not create any Python file objects, it does not seem likely that the system() call is the origin of the error. Maybe you could show a bit more code?

How to encode text to base64 in python

1) This works without imports in Python 2:

>>>
>>> 'Some text'.encode('base64')
'U29tZSB0ZXh0\n'
>>>
>>> 'U29tZSB0ZXh0\n'.decode('base64')
'Some text'
>>>
>>> 'U29tZSB0ZXh0'.decode('base64')
'Some text'
>>>

(although this doesn't work in Python3 )

2) In Python 3 you'd have to import base64 and do base64.b64decode('...') - will work in Python 2 too.

How to set initial size of std::vector?

std::vector<CustomClass *> whatever(20000);

or:

std::vector<CustomClass *> whatever;
whatever.reserve(20000);

The former sets the actual size of the array -- i.e., makes it a vector of 20000 pointers. The latter leaves the vector empty, but reserves space for 20000 pointers, so you can insert (up to) that many without it having to reallocate.

At least in my experience, it's fairly unusual for either of these to make a huge difference in performance--but either can affect correctness under some circumstances. In particular, as long as no reallocation takes place, iterators into the vector are guaranteed to remain valid, and once you've set the size/reserved space, you're guaranteed there won't be any reallocations as long as you don't increase the size beyond that.

"SetPropertiesRule" warning message when starting Tomcat from Eclipse

From Eclipse Newsgroup:

The warning about the source property is new with Tomcat 6.0.16 and may be ignored. WTP adds a "source" attribute to identify which project in the workspace is associated with the context. The fact that the Context object in Tomcat has no corresponding source property doesn't cause any problems.

I realize that this doesn't answer how to get rid of the warning, but I hope it helps.

Are 64 bit programs bigger and faster than 32 bit versions?

Regardless of the benefits, I would suggest that you always compile your program for the system's default word size (32-bit or 64-bit), since if you compile a library as a 32-bit binary and provide it on a 64-bit system, you will force anyone who wants to link with your library to provide their library (and any other library dependencies) as a 32-bit binary, when the 64-bit version is the default available. This can be quite a nuisance for everyone. When in doubt, provide both versions of your library.

As to the practical benefits of 64-bit... the most obvious is that you get a bigger address space, so if mmap a file, you can address more of it at once (and load larger files into memory). Another benefit is that, assuming the compiler does a good job of optimizing, many of your arithmetic operations can be parallelized (for example, placing two pairs of 32-bit numbers in two registers and performing two adds in single add operation), and big number computations will run more quickly. That said, the whole 64-bit vs 32-bit thing won't help you with asymptotic complexity at all, so if you are looking to optimize your code, you should probably be looking at the algorithms rather than the constant factors like this.

EDIT:
Please disregard my statement about the parallelized addition. This is not performed by an ordinary add statement... I was confusing that with some of the vectorized/SSE instructions. A more accurate benefit, aside from the larger address space, is that there are more general purpose registers, which means more local variables can be maintained in the CPU register file, which is much faster to access, than if you place the variables in the program stack (which usually means going out to the L1 cache).

Executing a shell script from a PHP script

I would have a directory somewhere called scripts under the WWW folder so that it's not reachable from the web but is reachable by PHP.

e.g. /var/www/scripts/testscript

Make sure the user/group for your testscript is the same as your webfiles. For instance if your client.php is owned by apache:apache, change the bash script to the same user/group using chown. You can find out what your client.php and web files are owned by doing ls -al.

Then run

<?php
      $message=shell_exec("/var/www/scripts/testscript 2>&1");
      print_r($message);
    ?>

EDIT:

If you really want to run a file as root from a webserver you can try this binary wrapper below. Check out this solution for the same thing you want to do.

Execute root commands via PHP

Integer value comparison

One more thing to watch out for is if the second value was another Integer object instead of a literal '0', the '==' operator compares the object pointers and will not auto-unbox.

ie:

Integer a = new Integer(0);
Integer b = new Integer(0);
int c = 0;

boolean isSame_EqOperator = (a==b); //false!
boolean isSame_EqMethod = (a.equals(b)); //true

When to create variables (memory management)

In your example number is a primitive, so will be stored as a value.

If you want to use a reference then you should use one of the wrapper types (e.g. Integer)

Java8: HashMap<X, Y> to HashMap<X, Z> using Stream / Map-Reduce / Collector

A generic solution like so

public static <X, Y, Z> Map<X, Z> transform(Map<X, Y> input,
        Function<Y, Z> function) {
    return input
            .entrySet()
            .stream()
            .collect(
                    Collectors.toMap((entry) -> entry.getKey(),
                            (entry) -> function.apply(entry.getValue())));
}

Example

Map<String, String> input = new HashMap<String, String>();
input.put("string1", "42");
input.put("string2", "41");
Map<String, Integer> output = transform(input,
            (val) -> Integer.parseInt(val));

Razor HtmlHelper Extensions (or other namespaces for views) Not Found

This error tells you that you do not have the razor engine properly associated with your project.

Solution: In the Solution Explorer window right click on your web project and select "Manage Nuget Packages..." then install "Microsoft ASP.NET Razor". This will make sure that the properly package is installed and it will add the necessary entries into your web.config file.

    for (int i=1; i <= sheet.getLastRowNum(); i++){

            HSSFCell j_username = sheet.getRow(i).getCell(0)
            HSSFCell j_password = sheet.getRow(i).getCell(0)

            searchbox.sendKeys(j_username.toString());
            searchbox2.sendKeys(j_password.toString());

            searchbox.submit();

            driver.manage().timeouts().implicitlyWait(10000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS);

    }

      workbook.close();
      file.close();

Custom Python list sorting

This does not work in Python 3.

You can use functools cmp_to_key to have old-style comparison functions work though.

from functools import cmp_to_key

def cmp_items(a, b):
    if a.foo > b.foo:
        return 1
    elif a.foo == b.foo:
        return 0
    else:
        return -1

cmp_items_py3 = cmp_to_key(cmp_items)

alist.sort(cmp_items_py3)

How to add Options Menu to Fragment in Android

If all of the above does not work, you need to debug and make sure function onCreateOptionsMenu has been called (by placing debug or write log...)

If it's not run, maybe your Android theme is not supporting the action bar. Open AndroidManifest.xml and set the value for android:theme with theme support action bar:

 <activity
     android:name=".MainActivity"
     android:label="@string/app_name"
     android:theme="@style/Theme.AppCompat">

Splitting String and put it on int array

You are doing Integer division, so you will lose the correct length if the user happens to put in an odd number of inputs - that is one problem I noticed. Because of this, when I run the code with an input of '1,2,3,4,5,6,7' my last value is ignored...

Java array assignment (multiple values)

Java does not provide a construct that will assign of multiple values to an existing array's elements. The initializer syntaxes can ONLY be used when creation a new array object. This can be at the point of declaration, or later on. But either way, the initializer is initializing a new array object, not updating an existing one.

PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied

Here is how I encountered the error:

import os

path = input("Input file path: ")

name, ext = os.path.basename(path).rsplit('.', 1)
dire = os.path.dirname(path)

with open(f"{dire}\\{name} temp.{ext}", 'wb') as file:
    pass

It works great if the user inputs a file path with more than one element, like

C:\\Users\\Name\\Desktop\\Folder

But I thought that it would work with an input like

file.txt

as long as file.txt is in the same directory of the python file. But nope, it gave me that error, and I realized that the correct input should've been

.\\file.txt

How can I SELECT multiple columns within a CASE WHEN on SQL Server?

The problem is that the CASE statement won't work in the way you're trying to use it. You can only use it to switch the value of one field in a query. If I understand what you're trying to do, you might need this:

SELECT
   ActivityID,
   FieldName = CASE
                  WHEN ActivityTypeID <> 2 THEN
                      (Some Aggregate Sub Query)
                  ELSE
                     (Some Aggregate Sub Query with diff result)
               END,
   FieldName2 = CASE
                  WHEN ActivityTypeID <> 2 THEN
                      (Some Aggregate Sub Query)
                  ELSE
                     (Some Aggregate Sub Query with diff result)
               END

JSON.stringify doesn't work with normal Javascript array

Nice explanation and example above. I found this (JSON.stringify() array bizarreness with Prototype.js) to complete the answer. Some sites implements its own toJSON with JSONFilters, so delete it.

if(window.Prototype) {
    delete Object.prototype.toJSON;
    delete Array.prototype.toJSON;
    delete Hash.prototype.toJSON;
    delete String.prototype.toJSON;
}

it works fine and the output of the test:

console.log(json);

Result:

"{"a":"test","b":["item","item2","item3"]}"

MySQL: What's the difference between float and double?

Thought I'd add my own example that helped me see the difference using the value 1.3 when adding or multiplying with another float, decimal, and double .

1.3 float ADDED to 1.3 of different types:

|float              | double | decimal |
+-------------------+------------+-----+
|2.5999999046325684 | 2.6    | 2.60000 |

1.3 float MULTIPLIED by 1.3 of different types:

| float              | double             | decimal      |
+--------------------+--------------------+--------------+
| 1.6899998760223411 | 1.6900000000000002 | 1.6900000000 |

This is using MySQL 6.7

Query:

SELECT

    double_1 + double_2 as 'double add',
    decimal_1 + decimal_2 as 'decimal add',

.htaccess file to allow access to images folder to view pictures?

Create a .htaccess file in the images folder and add this

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

"Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" error (mscorlib)

I'd suggest checking for an inner exception. If there isn't one, check your logs for the exception that occurred immediately prior to this one.

This isn't a web-specific exception, I've also encountered it in desktop-app development. In short, what's happening is that the thread receiving this exception is running some asynchronous code (via Invoke(), e.g.) and that code that's being run asynchronously is exploding with an exception. This target invocation exception is the aftermath of that failure.

If you haven't already, place some sort of exception logging wrapper around the asynchronous callbacks that are being invoked when you trigger this error. Event handlers, for instance. That ought to help you track down the problem.

Good luck!

How can I convert a Word document to PDF?

Spire.Doc for Java, it is a professional Java API that enables Java applications to create, convert, manipulate and print Word documents without using Microsoft Office.You can easily convert Word to PDF with several lines of codes as follows.

import com.spire.doc.Document;
import com.spire.doc.FileFormat;
import com.spire.doc.ToPdfParameterList;

public class WordToPDF {
public static void main(String[] args)  {

    //Create Document object
    Document doc = new Document();

    //Load the file from disk.
    doc.loadFromFile("Sample.docx");

    //create an instance of ToPdfParameterList.
    ToPdfParameterList ppl=new ToPdfParameterList();

    //embeds full fonts by default when IsEmbeddedAllFonts is set to true.
    ppl.isEmbeddedAllFonts(true);

    //set setDisableLink to true to remove the hyperlink effect for the result PDF page.
    //set setDisableLink to false to preserve the hyperlink effect for the result PDF page.
    ppl.setDisableLink(true);

    //Set the output image quality as 40% of the original image. 80% is the default setting.
    doc.setJPEGQuality(40);

    //Save to file.
    doc.saveToFile("output/ToPDF.pdf",FileFormat.PDF);
}
}

After running the code snippets above, all formats of the original Word document can be copied into PDF perfectly.

What is a practical use for a closure in JavaScript?

What is a "bundle" in an Android application

Bundle:- A mapping from String values to various Parcelable types.

Bundle is generally used for passing data between various activities of android.

when we call onPause() then onStop() and then in reverse order onStop() to onPause().

The saved data that the system uses to restore the previous state is called the "instance state" and is a collection of key-value pairs stored in a Bundle object.

How to use SqlClient in ASP.NET Core?

I think you may have missed this part in the tutorial:

Instead of referencing System.Data and System.Data.SqlClient you need to grab from Nuget:

System.Data.Common and System.Data.SqlClient.

Currently this creates dependency in project.json –> aspnetcore50 section to these two libraries.

"aspnetcore50": {
       "dependencies": {
           "System.Runtime": "4.0.20-beta-22523",
           "System.Data.Common": "4.0.0.0-beta-22605",
           "System.Data.SqlClient": "4.0.0.0-beta-22605"
       }
}

Try getting System.Data.Common and System.Data.SqlClient via Nuget and see if this adds the above dependencies for you, but in a nutshell you are missing System.Runtime.

Edit: As per Mozarts answer, if you are using .NET Core 3+, reference Microsoft.Data.SqlClient instead.

How do I load a file into the python console?

From the man page:

-i When a script is passed as first argument or the -c option is used, enter interactive mode after executing the script or the command. It does not read the $PYTHONSTARTUP file. This can be useful to inspect global variables or a stack trace when a script raises an exception.

So this should do what you want:

python -i file.py

What is the best way to declare global variable in Vue.js?

A possibility is to declare the variable at the index.html because it is really global. It can be done adding a javascript method to return the value of the variable, and it will be READ ONLY.

An example of this solution can be found at this answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/62485644/1178478

How do I block or restrict special characters from input fields with jquery?

I was looking for an answer that restricted input to only alphanumeric characters, but still allowed for the use of control characters (e.g., backspace, delete, tab) and copy+paste. None of the provided answers that I tried satisfied all of these requirements, so I came up with the following using the input event.

$('input').on('input', function() {
  $(this).val($(this).val().replace(/[^a-z0-9]/gi, ''));
});

Edit:
As rinogo pointed out in the comments, the above code snippet forces the cursor to the end of the input when typing in the middle of the input text. I believe the code snippet below solves this problem.

$('input').on('input', function() {
  var c = this.selectionStart,
      r = /[^a-z0-9]/gi,
      v = $(this).val();
  if(r.test(v)) {
    $(this).val(v.replace(r, ''));
    c--;
  }
  this.setSelectionRange(c, c);
});

The performance impact of using instanceof in Java

Answering your very last question: Unless a profiler tells you, that you spend ridiculous amounts of time in an instanceof: Yes, you're nitpicking.

Before wondering about optimizing something that never needed to be optimized: Write your algorithm in the most readable way and run it. Run it, until the jit-compiler gets a chance to optimize it itself. If you then have problems with this piece of code, use a profiler to tell you, where to gain the most and optimize this.

In times of highly optimizing compilers, your guesses about bottlenecks will be likely to be completely wrong.

And in true spirit of this answer (which I wholeheartly believe): I absolutely don't know how instanceof and == relate once the jit-compiler got a chance to optimize it.

I forgot: Never measure the first run.

How to convert ActiveRecord results into an array of hashes

as_json

You should use as_json method which converts ActiveRecord objects to Ruby Hashes despite its name

tasks_records = TaskStoreStatus.all
tasks_records = tasks_records.as_json

# You can now add new records and return the result as json by calling `to_json`

tasks_records << TaskStoreStatus.last.as_json
tasks_records << { :task_id => 10, :store_name => "Koramanagala", :store_region => "India" }
tasks_records.to_json

serializable_hash

You can also convert any ActiveRecord objects to a Hash with serializable_hash and you can convert any ActiveRecord results to an Array with to_a, so for your example :

tasks_records = TaskStoreStatus.all
tasks_records.to_a.map(&:serializable_hash)

And if you want an ugly solution for Rails prior to v2.3

JSON.parse(tasks_records.to_json) # please don't do it

How to convert a std::string to const char* or char*?

If you just want to pass a std::string to a function that needs const char* you can use

std::string str;
const char * c = str.c_str();

If you want to get a writable copy, like char *, you can do that with this:

std::string str;
char * writable = new char[str.size() + 1];
std::copy(str.begin(), str.end(), writable);
writable[str.size()] = '\0'; // don't forget the terminating 0

// don't forget to free the string after finished using it
delete[] writable;

Edit: Notice that the above is not exception safe. If anything between the new call and the delete call throws, you will leak memory, as nothing will call delete for you automatically. There are two immediate ways to solve this.

boost::scoped_array

boost::scoped_array will delete the memory for you upon going out of scope:

std::string str;
boost::scoped_array<char> writable(new char[str.size() + 1]);
std::copy(str.begin(), str.end(), writable.get());
writable[str.size()] = '\0'; // don't forget the terminating 0

// get the char* using writable.get()

// memory is automatically freed if the smart pointer goes
// out of scope

std::vector

This is the standard way (does not require any external library). You use std::vector, which completely manages the memory for you.

std::string str;
std::vector<char> writable(str.begin(), str.end());
writable.push_back('\0');

// get the char* using &writable[0] or &*writable.begin()

How can I create an array with key value pairs?

You can use this function in your application to add keys to indexed array.

public static function convertIndexedArrayToAssociative($indexedArr, $keys)
{
    $resArr = array();
    foreach ($indexedArr as $item)
    {
        $tmpArr = array();
        foreach ($item as $key=>$value)
        {
            $tmpArr[$keys[$key]] = $value;
        }
        $resArr[] = $tmpArr;
    }
    return $resArr;
}

EditorFor() and html properties

I also had issue with setting the width of TextBox in MVC3, while setting the Clsss attribute worked for TextArea control but not for TextBoxFor control or EditorFor control:

I tried following & that worked for me:

@Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Title, new { Class = "textBox", style = "width:90%;" })

also in this case Validations are working perfectly.

How to install JRE 1.7 on Mac OS X and use it with Eclipse?

You need to tell Eclipse which JDK/JRE's you have installed and where they are located.

This is somewhat burried in the Eclipse preferences: In the Window-Menu select "Preferences". In the Preferences Tree, open the Node "Java" and select "Installed JRE's". Then click on the "Add"-Button in the Panel and select "Standard VM", "Next" and for "JRE Home" click on the "Directory"-Button and select the top level folder of the JDK you want to add.

Its easier than the description may make it look.

USB Debugging option greyed out

After countless attempts, I found the following quote:

If you are using My KNOX, you cannot enable USB debugging mode while the container is installed. Unfortunately, you have to root your device ... - continue reading

Furthermore make sure:

  • your USB-cable works
  • your connection type is MTP (or PTP in some cases)
  • to enable USB debugging before pluging your device via USB-cable

I switched to another device without KNOX (not rooted as well) to save time. Maybe this quote will save someone some time. It was the only explanation to me in this case.

Cheers!

Concatenate multiple result rows of one column into one, group by another column

Simpler with the aggregate function string_agg() (Postgres 9.0 or later):

SELECT movie, string_agg(actor, ', ') AS actor_list
FROM   tbl
GROUP  BY 1;

The 1 in GROUP BY 1 is a positional reference and a shortcut for GROUP BY movie in this case.

string_agg() expects data type text as input. Other types need to be cast explicitly (actor::text) - unless an implicit cast to text is defined - which is the case for all other character types (varchar, character, "char"), and some other types.

As isapir commented, you can add an ORDER BY clause in the aggregate call to get a sorted list - should you need that. Like:

SELECT movie, string_agg(actor, ', ' ORDER BY actor) AS actor_list
FROM   tbl
GROUP  BY 1;

But it's typically faster to sort rows in a subquery. See:

Get content of a DIV using JavaScript

You need to set Div2 to Div1's innerHTML. Also, JavaScript is case sensitive - in your HTML, the id Div2 is DIV2. Also, you should use document, not Document:

var MyDiv1 = document.getElementById('DIV1');
var MyDiv2 = document.getElementById('DIV2');
MyDiv2.innerHTML = MyDiv1.innerHTML;

Here is a JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/gFN6r/.

Local storage in Angular 2

The standard localStorage API should be available, just do e.g.:

localStorage.setItem('whatever', 'something');

It's pretty widely supported.

Note that you will need to add "dom" to the "lib" array in your tsconfig.json if you don't already have it.

The localhost page isn’t working localhost is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500

If you are using the codeigniter framework and are testing the project on a localhost, open the main Index.php file of your project folder and find this code:

define('ENVIRONMENT', 'production');

Change it to

define ('ENVIRONMENT', 'development');

Because same this ENVIRONMENT is in your database.php file under config folder. like this:

 'db_debug' => (ENVIRONMENT! == 'development')

So the environment should be the same in both places and problem will be solved.

Java 8, Streams to find the duplicate elements

MySQL Query to select data from last week?

SELECT id  FROM tb1
WHERE
YEARWEEK (date) = YEARWEEK( current_date -interval 1 week )

Filter by Dates in SQL

If your dates column does not contain time information, you could get away with:

WHERE dates BETWEEN '20121211' and '20121213'

However, given your dates column is actually datetime, you want this

WHERE dates >= '20121211'
  AND dates < '20121214'  -- i.e. 00:00 of the next day

Another option for SQL Server 2008 onwards that retains SARGability (ability to use index for good performance) is:

WHERE CAST(dates as date) BETWEEN '20121211' and '20121213'

Note: always use ISO-8601 format YYYYMMDD with SQL Server for unambiguous date literals.

Android center view in FrameLayout doesn't work

To center a view in Framelayout, there are some available tricks. The simplest one I used for my Webview and Progressbar(very similar to your two object layout), I just added android:layout_gravity="center"

Here is complete XML in case if someone else needs the same thing to do

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"

    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    tools:context=".WebviewPDFActivity"
    android:layout_gravity="center"
    >
    <WebView
        android:id="@+id/webView1"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent"

        System.out.println("Printing the file passed in:");

Using Position Relative/Absolute within a TD?

This is because according to CSS 2.1, the effect of position: relative on table elements is undefined. Illustrative of this, position: relative has the desired effect on Chrome 13, but not on Firefox 4. Your solution here is to add a div around your content and put the position: relative on that div instead of the td. The following illustrates the results you get with the position: relative (1) on a div good), (2) on a td(no good), and finally (3) on a div inside a td (good again).

On Firefox 4

What is the purpose of Node.js module.exports and how do you use it?

This has already been answered but I wanted to add some clarification...

You can use both exports and module.exports to import code into your application like this:

var mycode = require('./path/to/mycode');

The basic use case you'll see (e.g. in ExpressJS example code) is that you set properties on the exports object in a .js file that you then import using require()

So in a simple counting example, you could have:

(counter.js):

var count = 1;

exports.increment = function() {
    count++;
};

exports.getCount = function() {
    return count;
};

... then in your application (web.js, or really any other .js file):

var counting = require('./counter.js');

console.log(counting.getCount()); // 1
counting.increment();
console.log(counting.getCount()); // 2

In simple terms, you can think of required files as functions that return a single object, and you can add properties (strings, numbers, arrays, functions, anything) to the object that's returned by setting them on exports.

Sometimes you'll want the object returned from a require() call to be a function you can call, rather than just an object with properties. In that case you need to also set module.exports, like this:

(sayhello.js):

module.exports = exports = function() {
    console.log("Hello World!");
};

(app.js):

var sayHello = require('./sayhello.js');
sayHello(); // "Hello World!"

The difference between exports and module.exports is explained better in this answer here.

Is the practice of returning a C++ reference variable evil?

It's not evil. Like many things in C++, it's good if used correctly, but there are many pitfalls you should be aware of when using it (like returning a reference to a local variable).

There are good things that can be achieved with it (like map[name] = "hello world")

Deserialize JSON to ArrayList<POJO> using Jackson

Another way is to use an array as a type, e.g.:

ObjectMapper objectMapper = new ObjectMapper();
MyPojo[] pojos = objectMapper.readValue(json, MyPojo[].class);

This way you avoid all the hassle with the Type object, and if you really need a list you can always convert the array to a list by:

List<MyPojo> pojoList = Arrays.asList(pojos);

IMHO this is much more readable.

And to make it be an actual list (that can be modified, see limitations of Arrays.asList()) then just do the following:

List<MyPojo> mcList = new ArrayList<>(Arrays.asList(pojos));

Modifying location.hash without page scrolling

The other way to do this is to add a div that's hidden at the top of the viewport. This div is then assigned the id of the hash before the hash is added to the url....so then you don't get a scroll.

How can I pass a member function where a free function is expected?

If you actually don't need to use the instance a (i.e. you can make it static like @mathengineer 's answer) you can simply pass in a non-capture lambda. (which decay to function pointer)

#include <iostream>

class aClass
{
public:
   void aTest(int a, int b)
   {
      printf("%d + %d = %d", a, b, a + b);
   }
};

void function1(void (*function)(int, int))
{
    function(1, 1);
}

int main()
{
   //note: you don't need the `+`
   function1(+[](int a,int b){return aClass{}.aTest(a,b);});
}

Wandbox

note: if aClass is costly to construct or has side effect, this may not be a good way.

#define in Java

static final int PROTEINS = 1
...
myArray[PROTEINS]

You'd normally put "constants" in the class itself. And do note that a compiler is allowed to optimize references to it away, so don't change it unless you recompile all the using classes.

class Foo {
  public static final int SIZE = 5;

  public static int[] arr = new int[SIZE];
}
class Bar {
  int last = arr[Foo.SIZE - 1];
}

Edit cycle... SIZE=4. Also compile Bar because you compiler may have just written "4" in the last compilation cycle!

Code for printf function in C

Here's the GNU version of printf... you can see it passing in stdout to vfprintf:

__printf (const char *format, ...)
{
   va_list arg;
   int done;

   va_start (arg, format);
   done = vfprintf (stdout, format, arg);
   va_end (arg);

   return done;
}

See here.

Here's a link to vfprintf... all the formatting 'magic' happens here.

The only thing that's truly 'different' about these functions is that they use varargs to get at arguments in a variable length argument list. Other than that, they're just traditional C. (This is in contrast to Pascal's printf equivalent, which is implemented with specific support in the compiler... at least it was back in the day.)

Debug message "Resource interpreted as other but transferred with MIME type application/javascript"

Get class list for element with jQuery

A bit late, but using the extend() function lets you call "hasClass()" on any element, e.g.:
var hasClass = $('#divId').hasClass('someClass');

(function($) {
$.extend({
    hasClass: new function(className) {
        var classAttr = $J(this).attr('class');
        if (classAttr != null && classAttr != undefined) {
            var classList = classAttr.split(/\s+/);
            for(var ix = 0, len = classList.length;ix < len;ix++) {
                if (className === classList[ix]) {
                    return true;
                }
            }
        }
        return false;
    }
}); })(jQuery);

How do I wait for an asynchronously dispatched block to finish?

I have to wait until a UIWebView is loaded before running my method, I was able to get this working by performing UIWebView ready checks on main thread using GCD in combination with semaphore methods mentioned in this thread. Final code looks like this:

-(void)myMethod {

    if (![self isWebViewLoaded]) {

            dispatch_semaphore_t semaphore = dispatch_semaphore_create(0);

            __block BOOL isWebViewLoaded = NO;

            dispatch_async(dispatch_get_global_queue(DISPATCH_QUEUE_PRIORITY_DEFAULT, 0), ^{

                while (!isWebViewLoaded) {

                    dispatch_after(dispatch_time(DISPATCH_TIME_NOW, (int64_t)((0.0) * NSEC_PER_SEC)), dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{
                        isWebViewLoaded = [self isWebViewLoaded];
                    });

                    [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:0.1];//check again if it's loaded every 0.1s

                }

                dispatch_sync(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{
                    dispatch_semaphore_signal(semaphore);
                });

            });

            while (dispatch_semaphore_wait(semaphore, DISPATCH_TIME_NOW)) {
                [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] runMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode beforeDate:[NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]];
            }

        }

    }

    //Run rest of method here after web view is loaded

How to pass a JSON array as a parameter in URL

I know this is old, but if anyone else wants to know why they get incomplete json like above is because the ampersand & is a special character in URLs used to separate parameters.
In your data there is an ampersand in R&R. So the acc parameter ends when it reaches the ampersand character.

That's why you are getting chopped data. The solution is either url encode the data or send as POST like the accepted solution suggests.

How do I escape the wildcard/asterisk character in bash?

I'll add a bit to this old thread.

Usually you would use

$ echo "$FOO"

However, I've had problems even with this syntax. Consider the following script.

#!/bin/bash
curl_opts="-s --noproxy * -O"
curl $curl_opts "$1"

The * needs to be passed verbatim to curl, but the same problems will arise. The above example won't work (it will expand to filenames in the current directory) and neither will \*. You also can't quote $curl_opts because it will be recognized as a single (invalid) option to curl.

curl: option -s --noproxy * -O: is unknown
curl: try 'curl --help' or 'curl --manual' for more information

Therefore I would recommend the use of the bash variable $GLOBIGNORE to prevent filename expansion altogether if applied to the global pattern, or use the set -f built-in flag.

#!/bin/bash
GLOBIGNORE="*"
curl_opts="-s --noproxy * -O"
curl $curl_opts "$1"  ## no filename expansion

Applying to your original example:

me$ FOO="BAR * BAR"

me$ echo $FOO
BAR file1 file2 file3 file4 BAR

me$ set -f
me$ echo $FOO
BAR * BAR

me$ set +f
me$ GLOBIGNORE=*
me$ echo $FOO
BAR * BAR

How to submit an HTML form on loading the page?

You don't need Jquery here! The simplest solution here is (based on the answer from charles):

<html>
<body onload="document.frm1.submit()">

      <input type="hidden" name="q" value="Hello world" />
   </form>

shuffling/permutating a DataFrame in pandas

A simple solution in pandas is to use the sample method independently on each column. Use apply to iterate over each column:

df = pd.DataFrame({'a':[1,2,3,4,5,6], 'b':[1,2,3,4,5,6]})
df

   a  b
0  1  1
1  2  2
2  3  3
3  4  4
4  5  5
5  6  6

df.apply(lambda x: x.sample(frac=1).values)

   a  b
0  4  2
1  1  6
2  6  5
3  5  3
4  2  4
5  3  1

You must use .value so that you return a numpy array and not a Series, or else the returned Series will align to the original DataFrame not changing a thing:

df.apply(lambda x: x.sample(frac=1))

   a  b
0  1  1
1  2  2
2  3  3
3  4  4
4  5  5
5  6  6

Post-increment and Pre-increment concept?

No one has answered the question: Why is this concept confusing?

As an undergrad Computer Science major it took me awhile to understand this because of the way I read the code.

The following is not correct!

x = y++

X is equal to y post increment. Which would logically seem to mean X is equal to the value of Y after the increment operation is done. Post meaning after.

or

x = ++y
X is equal to y pre-increment. Which would logically seem to mean X is equal to the value of Y before the increment operation is done. Pre meaning before.

The way it works is actually the opposite. This concept is confusing because the language is misleading. In this case we cannot use the words to define the behavior.
x=++y is actually read as X is equal to the value of Y after the increment.
x=y++ is actually read as X is equal to the value of Y before the increment.

The words pre and post are backwards with respect to semantics of English. They only mean where the ++ is in relation Y. Nothing more.

Personally, if I had the choice I would switch the meanings of ++y and y++. This is just an example of a idiom that I had to learn.

If there is a method to this madness I'd like to know in simple terms.

Thanks for reading.

Refresh Page C# ASP.NET

You can just do a regular postback to refresh the page if you don't want to redirect. Posting back from any control will run the page lifecycle and refresh the page.

To do it from javascript, you can just call the __doPostBack() function.

There're several NuGet packages which can help with formatting. In some cases the capabilities of string.Format are enough, but you may want to auto-size columns based on content, at least.

ConsoleTableExt

ConsoleTableExt is a simple library which allows formatting tables, including tables without grid lines. (A more popular package ConsoleTables doesn't seem to support borderless tables.) Here's an example of formatting a list of objects with columns sized based on their content:

ConsoleTableBuilder
    .From(orders
        .Select(o => new object[] {
            o.CustomerName,
            o.Sales,
            o.Fee,
            o.Value70,
            o.Value30
        })
        .ToList())
    .WithColumn(
        "Customer",
        "Sales",
        "Fee",
        "70% value",
        "30% value")
    .WithFormat(ConsoleTableBuilderFormat.Minimal)
    .WithOptions(new ConsoleTableBuilderOption { DividerString = "" })
    .ExportAndWriteLine();

CsConsoleFormat

If you need more features than that, any console formatting can be achieved with CsConsoleFormat.† For example, here's formatting of a list of objects as a grid with fixed column width of 10, like in the other answers using string.Format:

ConsoleRenderer.RenderDocument(
    new Document { Color = ConsoleColor.Gray }
        .AddChildren(
            new Grid { Stroke = LineThickness.None }
                .AddColumns(10, 10, 10, 10, 10)
                .AddChildren(
                    new Div("Customer"),
                    new Div("Sales"),
                    new Div("Fee"),
                    new Div("70% value"),
                    new Div("30% value"),
                    orders.Select(o => new object[] {
                        new Div().AddChildren(o.CustomerName),
                        new Div().AddChildren(o.Sales),
                        new Div().AddChildren(o.Fee),
                        new Div().AddChildren(o.Value70),
                        new Div().AddChildren(o.Value30)
                    })
                )
        ));

It may look more complicated than pure string.Format, but now it can be customized. For example:

  • If you want to auto-size columns based on content, replace AddColumns(10, 10, 10, 10, 10) with AddColumns(-1, -1, -1, -1, -1) (-1 is a shortcut to GridLength.Auto, you have more sizing options, including percentage of console window's width).

  • If you want to align number columns to the right, add { Align = Right } to a cell's initializer.

  • If you want to color a column, add { Color = Yellow } to a cell's initializer.

  • You can change border styles and more.

† CsConsoleFormat was developed by me.

Bootstrap 3 Navbar Collapse

I wanted to upvote and comment on jmbertucci's answer, but I'm not yet to be trusted with the controls. I had the same issue and resolved it as he said. If you are using Bootstrap 3.0, edit the LESS variables in variables.less The responsive break points are set around line 200:

@screen-xs:                  480px;
@screen-phone:               @screen-xs;

// Small screen / tablet
@screen-sm:                  768px;
@screen-tablet:              @screen-sm;

// Medium screen / desktop
@screen-md:                  992px;
@screen-desktop:             @screen-md;

// Large screen / wide desktop
@screen-lg:                  1200px;
@screen-lg-desktop:          @screen-lg;

// So media queries don't overlap when required, provide a maximum
@screen-xs-max:              (@screen-sm - 1);
@screen-sm-max:              (@screen-md - 1);
@screen-md-max:              (@screen-lg - 1);

Then set the collapse value for the navbar using the @grid-float-breakpoint variable at about line 232. By default it's set to @screen-tablet . If you want you can use a pixel value, but I prefer to use the LESS variables.

What does '?' do in C++?

Just a note, if you ever see this:

a = x ? : y;

It's a GNU extension to the standard (see https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Conditionals.html#Conditionals).

It is the same as

a = x ? x : y;

How can I import a large (14 GB) MySQL dump file into a new MySQL database?

I found below SSH commands are robust for export/import huge MySql databases, at least I'm using them for years. Never rely on backups generated via control panels like cPanel WHM, CWP, OVIPanel, etc they may trouble you especially when you're switching between control panels, trust SSH always.

How do I implement JQuery.noConflict() ?

By default, jquery uses the variable jQuery and the $ is used for your convenience. If you want to avoid conflicts, a good way is to encapsulate jQuery like so:

(function($){

    $(function(){

        alert('$ is safe!');

    });

})(jQuery)

Any way to limit border length?

Another solution is you could use a background image to mimic the look of a left border

  1. Create the border-left style you require as a graphic
  2. Position it to the very left of your div (make it long enough to handle roughly two text size increases for older browsers)
  3. Set the vertical position 50% from the top of your div.

You might need to tweak for IE (as per usual) but it's worth a shot if that's the design you are going for.

  • I am generally against using images for something that CSS inherently provides, but sometimes if the design needs it, there's no other way round it.

How can I read SMS messages from the device programmatically in Android?

Step 1: first we have to add permissions in manifest file like

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS" android:protectionLevel="signature" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_SMS" />

Step 2: then add service sms receiver class for receiving sms

<receiver android:name="com.aquadeals.seller.services.SmsReceiver">
    <intent-filter>
        <action android:name="android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED"/>
    </intent-filter>
</receiver>

Step 3: Add run time permission

private boolean checkAndRequestPermissions()
{
    int sms = ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(this, Manifest.permission.READ_SMS);

    if (sms != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED)
    {
        ActivityCompat.requestPermissions(this, new String[]{Manifest.permission.READ_SMS}, REQUEST_ID_MULTIPLE_PERMISSIONS);
        return false;
    }
    return true;
}

Step 4: Add this classes in your app and test Interface class

public interface SmsListener {
   public void messageReceived(String messageText);
}

SmsReceiver.java

public class SmsReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
    private static SmsListener mListener;
    public Pattern p = Pattern.compile("(|^)\\d{6}");
    @Override
    public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
        Bundle data  = intent.getExtras();
        Object[] pdus = (Object[]) data.get("pdus");
        for(int i=0;i<pdus.length;i++)
        {
            SmsMessage smsMessage = SmsMessage.createFromPdu((byte[]) pdus[i]);
            String sender = smsMessage.getDisplayOriginatingAddress();
            String phoneNumber = smsMessage.getDisplayOriginatingAddress();
            String senderNum = phoneNumber ;
            String messageBody = smsMessage.getMessageBody();
            try{
                if(messageBody!=null){
                    Matcher m = p.matcher(messageBody);
                    if(m.find()) {
                        mListener.messageReceived(m.group(0));
                    }
                }
            }
            catch(Exception e){}

Pandas: create two new columns in a dataframe with values calculated from a pre-existing column

The top answer is flawed in my opinion. Hopefully, no one is mass importing all of pandas into their namespace with from pandas import *. Also, the map method should be reserved for those times when passing it a dictionary or Series. It can take a function but this is what apply is used for.

So, if you must use the above approach, I would write it like this

df["A1"], df["A2"] = zip(*df["a"].apply(calculate))

There's actually no reason to use zip here. You can simply do this:

df["A1"], df["A2"] = calculate(df['a'])

This second method is also much faster on larger DataFrames

df = pd.DataFrame({'a': [1,2,3] * 100000, 'b': [2,3,4] * 100000})

DataFrame created with 300,000 rows

%timeit df["A1"], df["A2"] = calculate(df['a'])
2.65 ms ± 92.4 µs per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 100 loops each)

%timeit df["A1"], df["A2"] = zip(*df["a"].apply(calculate))
159 ms ± 5.24 ms per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 10 loops each)

60x faster than zip

In general, avoid using apply

Apply is generally not much faster than iterating over a Python list. Let's test the performance of a for-loop to do the same thing as above

%%timeit
A1, A2 = [], []
for val in df['a']:
    A1.append(val**2)
    A2.append(val**3)

df['A1'] = A1
df['A2'] = A2

298 ms ± 7.14 ms per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 1 loop each)

So this is twice as slow which isn't a terrible performance regression, but if we cythonize the above, we get much better performance. Assuming, you are using ipython:

%load_ext cython

%%cython
cpdef power(vals):
    A1, A2 = [], []
    cdef double val
    for val in vals:
        A1.append(val**2)
        A2.append(val**3)

    return A1, A2

%timeit df['A1'], df['A2'] = power(df['a'])
72.7 ms ± 2.16 ms per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 10 loops each)

Directly assigning without apply

You can get even greater speed improvements if you use the direct vectorized operations.

%timeit df['A1'], df['A2'] = df['a'] ** 2, df['a'] ** 3
5.13 ms ± 320 µs per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 100 loops each)

This takes advantage of NumPy's extremely fast vectorized operations instead of our loops. We now have a 30x speedup over the original.

The simplest speed test with apply

The above example should clearly show how slow apply can be, but just so its extra clear let's look at the most basic example. Let's square a Series of 10 million numbers with and without apply

s = pd.Series(np.random.rand(10000000))

%timeit s.apply(calc)
3.3 s ± 57.4 ms per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 1 loop each)

Without apply is 50x faster

%timeit s ** 2
66 ms ± 2 ms per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 10 loops each)

How to make a rest post call from ReactJS code?

React doesn't really have an opinion about how you make REST calls. Basically you can choose whatever kind of AJAX library you like for this task.

The easiest way with plain old JavaScript is probably something like this:

var request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.open('POST', '/my/url', true);
request.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/json; charset=UTF-8');
request.send(data);

In modern browsers you can also use fetch.

If you have more components that make REST calls it might make sense to put this kind of logic in a class that can be used across the components. E.g. RESTClient.post(…)

Creating a new DOM element from an HTML string using built-in DOM methods or Prototype

    var tr = div.getElementsByTagName('tr');
    // ...
}

How can I start PostgreSQL on Windows?

After a lot of search and tests i found the solution : if you are in windows :

1 - first you must found the PG databases directory execute the command as sql command in pgAdmin query tools

$ show data_directory;

result :

------------------------
- D:/PG_DATA/data      -
------------------------

2 - go to the bin directory of postgres in my case it's located "c:/programms/postgresSql/bin"

and open a command prompt (CMD) and execute this command :

pg_ctl -D "D:\PSG_SQL\data" restart

This should do it.

Apply multiple functions to multiple groupby columns

As an alternative (mostly on aesthetics) to Ted Petrou's answer, I found I preferred a slightly more compact listing. Please don't consider accepting it, it's just a much-more-detailed comment on Ted's answer, plus code/data. Python/pandas is not my first/best, but I found this to read well:

df.groupby('group') \
  .apply(lambda x: pd.Series({
      'a_sum'       : x['a'].sum(),
      'a_max'       : x['a'].max(),
      'b_mean'      : x['b'].mean(),
      'c_d_prodsum' : (x['c'] * x['d']).sum()
  })
)

          a_sum     a_max    b_mean  c_d_prodsum
group
0      0.530559  0.374540  0.553354     0.488525
1      1.433558  0.832443  0.460206     0.053313

I find it more reminiscent of dplyr pipes and data.table chained commands. Not to say they're better, just more familiar to me. (I certainly recognize the power and, for many, the preference of using more formalized def functions for these types of operations. This is just an alternative, not necessarily better.)

I generated data in the same manner as Ted, I'll add a seed for reproducibility.

import numpy as np
np.random.seed(42)
df = pd.DataFrame(np.random.rand(4,4), columns=list('abcd'))
df['group'] = [0, 0, 1, 1]
df

          a         b         c         d  group
0  0.374540  0.950714  0.731994  0.598658      0
1  0.156019  0.155995  0.058084  0.866176      0
2  0.601115  0.708073  0.020584  0.969910      1

What is the difference between HAVING and WHERE in SQL?

I had a problem and found out another difference between WHERE and HAVING. It does not act the same way on indexed columns.

WHERE my_indexed_row = 123 will show rows and automatically perform a "ORDER ASC" on other indexed rows.

HAVING my_indexed_row = 123 shows everything from the oldest "inserted" row to the newest one, no ordering.

Multiple axis line chart in excel

Taking the answer above as guidance;

I made an extra graph for "hours worked by month", then copy/special-pasted it as a 'linked picture' for use under my other graphs. in other words, I copy pasted my existing graphs over the linked picture made from my new graph with the new axis.. And because it is a linked picture it always updates.

Make it easy on yourself though, make sure you copy an existing graph to build your 'picture' graph - then delete the series or change the data source to what you need as an extra axis. That way you won't have to mess around resizing.

The results were not too bad considering what I wanted to achieve; basically a list of incident frequency bar graph, with a performance tread line, and then a solid 'backdrop' of hours worked.

Thanks to the guy above for the idea!

Summarizing count and conditional aggregate functions on the same factor

Assuming that your original dataset is similar to the one you created (i.e. with NA as character. You could specify na.strings while reading the data using read.table. But, I guess NAs would be detected automatically.

The price column is factor which needs to be converted to numeric class. When you use as.numeric, all the non-numeric elements (i.e. "NA", FALSE) gets coerced to NA) with a warning.

library(dplyr)
df %>%
     mutate(price=as.numeric(as.character(price))) %>%
     group_by(company, year, product) %>%
     summarise(total.count=n(),
               count=sum(is.na(price)),
               avg.price=mean(price,na.rm=TRUE),
               max.price=max(price, na.rm=TRUE))

data

I am using the same dataset (except the ... row) that was showed.

df = tbl_df(data.frame(company=c("Acme", "Meca", "Emca", "Acme", "Meca","Emca"),
 year=c("2011", "2010", "2009", "2011", "2010", "2013"), product=c("Wrench", "Hammer",
 "Sonic Screwdriver", "Fairy Dust", "Kindness", "Helping Hand"), price=c("5.67",
 "7.12", "12.99", "10.99", "NA",FALSE)))

crudrepository findBy method signature with multiple in operators?

The following signature will do:

List<Email> findByEmailIdInAndPincodeIn(List<String> emails, List<String> pinCodes);

Spring Data JPA supports a large number of keywords to build a query. IN and AND are among them.

Creating a list of pairs in java

Similar to what Mark E has proposed, you have to come up with your own. Just to help you a bit, there is a neat article http://gleichmann.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/building-your-own-literals-in-java-tuples-and-maps/ which gives you a really neat way of creating tuples and maps that might be something you might want to consider.
