How to convert ActiveRecord results into an array of hashes

Question

I have an ActiveRecord result of a find operation   tasks records   TaskStoreStatus find     all     select   gt   task id  store name  store region      conditions   gt    task status     and store id        f   store id      Now I want to convert this results into an array of hashes like this    0  - gt      task d   gt  10   store name  gt   Koramanagala    store region  gt   India      1  - gt     task d   gt  10   store name  gt   Koramanagala    store region  gt   India      2  - gt      task d   gt  10   store name  gt   Koramanagala    store region  gt   India      so that I will be able to iterate through the array and to add more elements to hashes and later to convert the result into JSON for my API response  How can I do this

For current ActiveRecord  4 2 4   there is a method to hash on the Result object that returns an array of hashes  You can then map over it and convert to symbolized hashes     Get an array of hashes representing the result  column   gt  value   result to hash     gt     id    gt  1   title    gt   title 1    body    gt   body 1            id    gt  2   title    gt   title 2    body    gt   body 2                      result to hash map  amp  symbolize keys      gt     id   gt  1   title   gt   title 1    body   gt   body 1            id   gt  2   title   gt   title 2    body   gt   body 2                       See the ActiveRecord  Result docs for more info

as json  You should use as json method which converts ActiveRecord objects to Ruby Hashes despite its name  tasks records   TaskStoreStatus all tasks records   tasks records as json    You can now add new records and return the result as json by calling  to json   tasks records  lt  lt  TaskStoreStatus last as json tasks records  lt  lt     task id   gt  10   store name   gt   Koramanagala    store region   gt   India    tasks records to json   serializable hash  You can also convert any ActiveRecord objects to a Hash with serializable hash and you can convert any ActiveRecord results to an Array with to a  so for your example    tasks records   TaskStoreStatus all tasks records to a map  amp  serializable hash    And if you want an ugly solution for Rails prior to v2 3  JSON parse tasks records to json    please don t do it
