You can have a mix of PHP and HTML in your PHP files... just do something like this...

The usual way to check whether something can be converted to an int is to try it and see, following the EAFP principle:

In most cases, a loop around some trivial code that ends with mynewlist.append(item) can be turned into a list comprehension, generator expression, or call to map or filter. But here, you can't, because there's no way to put a try/except into an expression.
But if you wrap it up in a function, you can:

It's cleaner to use it this way:

This way, you can pass it the exception (or tuple of exceptions) you're expecting, and those will return True, but if any unexpected exceptions are raised, they'll propagate out. So:

mynewlist = [item for item in mylist if not raises(ValueError, item, int)]
… will raise a TypeError, as it should.

The CSS uses only the data in the DOM tree, which has little to do with how the renderer decides what to do with elements with missing attributes.
So either let the CSS reflect the HTML

If it didn't do that, you'd never be able to distinguish between

moment.js - UTC gives wrong date
Both Date and moment will parse the input string in the local time zone of the browser by default. However Date is sometimes inconsistent with this regard. If the string is specifically YYYY-MM-DD, using hyphens, or if it is YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss, it will interpret it as local time. Unlike Date, moment will always be consistent about how it parses.
The correct way to parse an input moment as UTC in the format you provided would be like this:
moment.utc('07-18-2013', 'MM-DD-YYYY')
Refer to this documentation.
If you want to then format it differently for output, you would do this:
moment.utc('07-18-2013', 'MM-DD-YYYY').format('YYYY-MM-DD')
You do not need to call toString explicitly.
Note that it is very important to provide the input format. Without it, a date like 01-04-2013 might get processed as either Jan 4th or Apr 1st, depending on the culture settings of the browser.
Attach the Source in Eclipse of a jar

The rationale for the above functions (which I find way inefficient - the one below is better) is that a service that shall not be named apparently ran spelling checks and keyword recognition on the URLs.
After losing a long time on a customer's paranoias, I found out they were not imagining things after all -- their SEO experts [I am definitely not one] reported that, say, converting "Viaggi Economy Perù" to viaggi-economy-peru "behaved better" than viaggi-economy-per (the previous "cleaning" removed UTF8 characters; Bogotà became bogot, Medellìn became medelln and so on).
There were also some common misspellings that seemed to influence the results, and the only explanation that made sense to me is that our URL were being unpacked, the words singled out, and used to drive God knows what ranking algorithms. And those algorithms apparently had been fed with UTF8-cleaned strings, so that "Perù" became "Peru" instead of "Per". "Per" did not match and sort of took it in the neck.
In order to both keep UTF8 characters and replace some misspellings, the faster function below became the more accurate (?) function above. $dict needs to be hand tailored, of course.

To handle UTF-8 I used a cleanString implementation found online (link broken since, but a stripped down copy with all the not-too-esoteric UTF8 characters is at the beginning of the answer; it's also easy to add more characters to it if you need) that converts UTF8 characters to normal characters, thus preserving the word "look" as much as possible. It could be simplified and wrapped inside the function here for performance.
The function above also implements converting to lowercase - but that's a taste. The code to do so has been commented out.

None of these answers helped me, but I found a solution.
I had a webproject used in Wildfly 8.2, built with Maven, source and target was set to 1.8 on maven-compiler-plugin, as well as all Eclipse and Maven settings were set to Java 1.8.
The problem was that Wildfly 8.2 cannot handle Java 1.8, so I had to set everything to 1.7 and it worked.
PHP if not statements
You're saying "if it's not set or it's different from add or it's different from delete". You realize that a != x && a != y, with x != y is necessarily false since a cannot be simultaneously two different values.
PSEXEC, access denied errors
I still use psexec, even on win 10. Replace the psexec.exe in the Windows 10's win32 folder with the older version to work -> I use version 2.11.0.0. The Windows 10 version I was using would only run .bat files as background/hidden process on the remote computer. Took a whole day to figure this out.

No Multiline Lambda in Python: Why not?
Let me also throw in my two cents about different workarounds.
How is a simple one-line lambda different from a normal function? I can think only of lack of assignments, some loop-like constructs (for, while), try-except clauses... And that's it? We even have a ternary operator - cool! So, let's try to deal with each of these problems.
Assignments
Some guys here have rightly noted that we should take a look at lisp's let form, which allows local bindings. Actually, all the non state-changing assignments can be performed only with let. But every lisp programmer knows that let form is absolutely equivalent to call to a lambda function! This means that
(let ([x_ x] [y_ y])
(do-sth-with-x-&-y x_ y_))
is the same as
((lambda (x_ y_)
(do-sth-with-x-&-y x_ y_)) x y)
So lambdas are more than enough! Whenever we want to make a new assignment we just add another lambda and call it. Consider this example:

z = f2(x, y)
return y,z
A lambda version looks like:
f = lambda x: (lambda y: (y, f2(x,y)))(f1(x))
You can even make the let function, if you don't like the data being written after actions on the data. And you can even curry it (just for the sake of more parentheses :) )

f_lmb = lambda x: let((f1(x),), lambda y: (y, f2(x,y)))

f_lmb = lambda x: let((f1(x),))(lambda y: (y, f2(x,y)))

So far so good. But what if we have to make reassignments, i.e. change state? Well, I think we can live absolutely happily without changing state as long as task in question doesn't concern loops.
Loops
While there's no direct lambda alternative for loops, I believe we can write quite generic function to fit our needs. Take a look at this fibonacci function:

Impossible in terms of lambdas, obviously. But after writing a little yet useful function we're done with that and similar cases:

Try-except and other control structs
It seems like a general approach to this kind of problems is to make use of lazy evaluation, replacing code blocks with lambdas accepting no arguments:

Of course, this is not a full alternative to try-except clause, but you can always make it more generic. Btw, with that approach you can even make if behave like function!
Summing up: it's only natural that everything mentioned feels kinda unnatural and not-so-pythonically-beautiful. Nonetheless - it works! And without any evals and other trics, so all the intellisense will work. I'm also not claiming that you shoud use this everywhere. Most often you'd better define an ordinary function. I only showed that nothing is impossible.
How to create a data file for gnuplot?
I was having the exact same issue. The problem that I was having is that I hadn't saved the .plt file that I was typing into yet. The fix: I saved the .plt file in the same directory as the data that I was trying to plot and suddenly it worked! If they are in the same directory, you don't even need to specify a path, you can just put in the file name.
Below is exactly what was happening to me, and how I fixed it. The first line shows the problem we were both having. I saved in the second line, and the third line worked!

For anyone that also need to add into 2d associative array, you can also use answer given above, and use the code like this

This is because you define your "doc" variable outside of your click event. The first time you click the button the doc variable contains a new jsPDF object. But when you click for a second time, this variable can't be used in the same way anymore. As it is already defined and used the previous time.

Forward X11 failed: Network error: Connection refused
Other answers are outdated, or incomplete, or simply don't work.
You need to also specify an X-11 server on the host machine to handle the launch of GUId programs. If the client is a Windows machine install Xming. If the client is a Linux machine install XQuartz.
Now suppose this is Windows connecting to Linux. In order to be able to launch X11 programs as well over putty do the following:
- Launch XMing on Windows client
- Launch Putty
* Fill in basic options as you know in session category
* Connection -> SSH -> X11
-> Enable X11 forwarding
-> X display location = :0.0
-> MIT-Magic-Cookie-1
-> X authority file for local display = point to the Xming.exe executable
Of course the ssh server should have permitted Desktop Sharing "Allow other user to view your desktop".

You just subindex it with [:5] indicating that you want (up to) the first 5 elements.

How does "FOR" work in cmd batch file?
You've got the right idea, but for /f is designed to work on multi-line files or commands, not individual strings.
In its simplest form, for is like Perl's for, or every other language's foreach. You pass it a list of tokens, and it iterates over them, calling the same command each time.
for %a in (hello world) do @echo %a
The extensions merely provide automatic ways of building the list of tokens. The reason your current code is coming up with nothing is that ';' is the default end of line (comment) symbol. But even if you change that, you'd have to use %%g, %%h, %%i, ... to access the individual tokens, which will severely limit your batch file.
The closest you can get to what you ask for is:
set TabbedPath=%PATH:;= %
for %%g in (%TabbedPath%) do echo %%g
But that will fail for quoted paths that contain semicolons.
In my experience, for /l and for /r are good for extending existing commands, but otherwise for is extremely limited. You can make it slightly more powerful (and confusing) with delayed variable expansion (cmd /v:on), but it's really only good for lists of filenames.
I'd suggest using WSH or PowerShell if you need to perform string manipulation. If you're trying to write whereis for Windows, try where /?.

Difference between /res and /assets directories
Ted Hopp answered this quite nicely. I have been using res/raw for my opengl texture and shader files. I was thinking about moving them to an assets directory to provide a hierarchical organization.
This thread convinced me not to. First, because I like the use of a unique resource id. Second because it's very simple to use InputStream/openRawResource or BitmapFactory to read in the file. Third because it's very useful to be able to use in a portable library.

You must have a web server (Windows comes with one called IIS, but it may not be installed)
- Make sure you actually have IIS
installed! Try typing
http://localhost/in your browser and see what happens. If nothing happens it means that you may not have IIS installed. See Installing IIS - Set up IIS How to set up your first IIS Web site
- You may even need to Install the .NET Framework (or your server will only serve static html pages, and not asp.net pages)
Installing your application
Once you have done that, you can more or less just copy your application to c:\wwwroot\inetpub\. Read Installing ASP.NET Applications (IIS 6.0) for more information
Accessing the web site from another machine
In theory, once you have a web server running, and the application installed, you only need the IP address of your web server to access the application.
To find your IP address try:
Start -> Run -> type cmd (hit ENTER) -> type ipconfig (hit ENTER)
Once
- you have the IP address AND
- IIS running AND
- the application is installed
you can access your website from another machine in your LAN by just typing in the IP Address of you web server and the correct path to your application.

Best way to log POST data in Apache?
Not exactly an answer, but I have never heard of a way to do this in Apache itself. I guess it might be possible with an extension module, but I don't know whether one has been written.
One concern is that POST data can be pretty large, and if you don't put some kind of limit on how much is being logged, you might run out of disk space after a while. It's a possible route for hackers to mess with your server.

Disabling of EditText in Android
There are multiple was how to achieve multiple levels of disabled.
editText.setShowSoftInputOnFocus(false);andeditText.setFocusable
prevents the EditText from showing keyboard - writing in some text. But cursor is still visible and user can paste in some text.
editText.setCursorVisible(false)
hides the cursor. Not sure why would you want to do that tho. User can input text & paste.
editText.setKeyListener(null)
I find this way most convenient. There is no way how user can input text, but widget still works with OnClickListener if you want to trigger action when user touches it
editText.setEnabled(false);
completely disables EditText. It is literally 'read-only', user cannot input any text in it and (for example) OnClickListener doesn't work with it.

How do CORS and Access-Control-Allow-Headers work?
Yes, you need to have the header Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://domain.com:3000 or Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * on both the OPTIONS response and the POST response. You should include the header Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true on the POST response as well.
Your OPTIONS response should also include the header Access-Control-Allow-Headers: origin, content-type, accept to match the requested header.

If you're looking for a particular string, put quotes around it:

This may be due to both 64 bit and 32 bit JDK installed? What ever may be the case, the java.exe seen by ant.bat should from the JDK. If the JRE's java.exe comes first in the path, that will be used to guess the JDK location.
Put 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_02\bin' or 'C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_02' as the first argument in the path.

what does "dead beef" mean?
The value of 0xDEADBEEF has three practical benefits, mostly for older systems. Old assembler/C hacks, like me, would use it to fill unallocated memory to coax out memory issues. Also, it's a pun of the slang term "dead meat". The programmer is dead meat if DEADBEEF winds up in his pointers. I congratulate the guy who first thought of using the value DEADBEEF. It's clever in many ways.
As for practical reasons, firstly, it's more noticeable in a hex memory dump because it actually spells words as opposed to random hex values.
Secondly, if the value winds up in a pointer, it's more likely to induce a memory out-of-range fault. An address of DEADBEEF was out of the address range of systems (we're talking last century systems now) regardless of the system's endian.
Thirdly, it is more likely to induce a fault on systems that require even boundary pointer values for accessing 16/32/64-bit data. The value is more likely to fault because both of the 16 bit values (DEAD, BEEF) are odd.

I think the answer by jpmc26, while by no means wrong, comes down too heavily on circular imports. They can work just fine, if you set them up correctly.
The easiest way to do so is to use import my_module syntax, rather than from my_module import some_object. The former will almost always work, even if my_module included imports us back. The latter only works if my_object is already defined in my_module, which in a circular import may not be the case.
To be specific to your case: Try changing entities/post.py to do import physics and then refer to physics.PostBody rather than just PostBody directly. Similarly, change physics.py to do import entities.post and then use entities.post.Post rather than just Post.
Are the decimal places in a CSS width respected?
If it's a percentage width, then yes, it is respected. As Martin pointed out, things break down when you get to fractional pixels, but if your percentage values yield integer pixel value (e.g. 50.5% of 200px in the example) you'll get sensible, expected behaviour.
Edit: I've updated the example to show what happens to fractional pixels (in Chrome the values are truncated, so 50, 50.5 and 50.6 all show the same width).

ASP.NET Core 1.0 on IIS error 502.5
I had a similar issue (Asp.Net Core 2.x) that was caused by trying to run a 32-bit asp.net core app in IIS on a 64-bit windows server. The root cause was that the web.config that is auto-generated (if your project does not explicitly include one, which asp.net core projects do not by default) does not contain the full path to the dotnet executable. When you install the hosting bundle on a 64 bit machine it will install the 64 and 32 bit versions of dotnet, but the path will resolve by default to 64 bit and your 32 bit asp.net core app will fail to load. In your browser you may see a 502.5 error and if you look the server event log you might see error code 0x80004005. If you try to run dotnet.exe from a command prompt to load your asp.net core application dll on that server you may see an error like "BadImageFormatException" or "attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format". The fix that worked for me was to add a web.config to my project (and deployment) and in that web.config set the full path to the 32-bit version of dotnet.exe.

Resolution fix: For me, the problem was related to active chrome sessions. I closed all of my chrome browser sessions and then tried building to chrome again. I am using Visual Studio Professional 2017 version 15.3.2. The VS application I was running into build errors with was a WebAPI project. When trying to click the green play button, I was getting dialog error stating "Unable to start the program 'http://localhost:18980/'. An operation is not legal in the current state. Hopefully this post helps someone.

I hope to provide more background knowledge here.
First, constructor signature of the of method threading::Thread:
class threading.Thread(group=None, target=None, name=None, args=(), kwargs={}, *, daemon=None)
args is the argument tuple for the target invocation. Defaults to ().
Second, A quirk in Python about tuple:
Empty tuples are constructed by an empty pair of parentheses; a tuple with one item is constructed by following a value with a comma (it is not sufficient to enclose a single value in parentheses).
On the other hand, a string is a sequence of characters, like 'abc'[1] == 'b'. So if send a string to args, even in parentheses (still a sting), each character will be treated as a single parameter.
However, Python is so integrated and is not like JavaScript where extra arguments can be tolerated. Instead, it throws an TypeError to complain.

The process of replacement of the method call with method definition is called as binding, in this case, it is done by the compiler so it is called as early binding.
What is the difference between the kernel space and the user space?
The correct answer is: There is no such thing as kernel space and user space. The processor instruction set has special permissions to set destructive things like the root of the page table map, or access hardware device memory, etc.
Kernel code has the highest level privileges, and user code the lowest. This prevents user code from crashing the system, modifying other programs, etc.
Generally kernel code is kept under a different memory map than user code (just as user spaces are kept in different memory maps than each other). This is where the "kernel space" and "user space" terms come from. But that is not a hard and fast rule. For example, since the x86 indirectly requires its interrupt/trap handlers to be mapped at all times, part (or some OSes all) of the kernel must be mapped into user space. Again, this does not mean that such code has user privileges.
Why is the kernel/user divide necessary? Some designers disagree that it is, in fact, necessary. Microkernel architecture is based on the idea that the highest privileged sections of code should be as small as possible, with all significant operations done in user privileged code. You would need to study why this might be a good idea, it is not a simple concept (and is famous for both having advantages and drawbacks).
ImportError: No module named pip
I encountered the same error with Python 3.8.6 on MacOS Big Sur.
Whether I used pip or pip3 I'd get this error:

I think that this is a bad assumption. If the user tap a quit button and a message appears that say something like: "The application will now quit.", it doesn't appear to be crashed. Apple should provide a valid way to quit an application (not exit(0)).

I deal with this question at work often:
FTP feeds of inventory and pricing - Item descriptions and other text were in nvarchar when varchar worked fine. Converting these to varchar reduced file size almost in half and really helped with uploads.
The above scenario worked fine until someone put a special character in the item description (maybe trademark, can't remember)
I still do not use nvarchar every time over varchar. If there is any doubt or potential for special characters, I use nvarchar. I find I use varchar mostly when I am in 100% control of what is populating the field.

In the IIS section of "feature view" choose the so-called feature "authentication" and doulbe click it. Here you can enable Windows Authentication. This is also possible (by i think in one of the suggestions in the thread) by a setting in the web.config ( ...)

HTML5 Canvas 100% Width Height of Viewport?
I'll answer the more general question of how to have a canvas dynamically adapt in size upon window resize. The accepted answer appropriately handles the case where width and height are both supposed to be 100%, which is what was asked for, but which also will change the aspect ratio of the canvas. Many users will want the canvas to resize on window resize, but while keeping the aspect ratio untouched. It's not the exact question, but it "fits in", just putting the question into a slightly more general context.
The window will have some aspect ratio (width / height), and so will the canvas object. How you want these two aspect ratios to relate to each other is one thing you'll have to be clear about, there is no "one size fits all" answer to that question - I'll go through some common cases of what you might want.
Most important thing you have to be clear about: the html canvas object has a width attribute and a height attribute; and then, the css of the same object also has a width and a height attribute. Those two widths and heights are different, both are useful for different things.
Changing the width and height attributes is one method with which you can always change the size of your canvas, but then you'll have to repaint everything, which will take time and is not always necessary, because some amount of size change you can accomplish via the css attributes, in which case you do not redraw the canvas.
I see 4 cases of what you might want to happen on window resize (all starting with a full screen canvas)
1: you want the width to remain 100%, and you want the aspect ratio to stay as it was. In that case, you do not need to redraw the canvas; you don't even need a window resize handler. All you need is

You'll find that in javascript, there are usually many different ways to do the same thing or find the same information. In your example, you are looking for some element that is guaranteed to always exist. window and document both fit the bill (with just a few differences).

addEventListener() registers a single event listener on a single target. The event target may be a single element in a document, the document itself, a window, or an XMLHttpRequest.
So as long as you can count on your "target" always being there, the only difference is what events you're listening for, so just use your favorite.

When I studied IT in college my prof. made it simple for me:
"A computer "program" and an "application" (a.k.a. 'app') are one-in-the-same. The only difference is a technical one. While both are the same, an 'application' is a computer program launched and dependent upon an operating system to execute."
Got it right on the exam.
So when you click on a word processor, for example, it is an application, as is that hidden file that runs the printer spooler launched only by the OS. The two programs depend on the OS, whereby the OS itself or your internal BIOS programming are not 'apps' in the technical sense as they communicate directly with the computer hardware itself.
Unless the definition has changed in the past few years, commercial entities like Microsoft and Apple are not using the terms properly, preferring sexy marketing by making the term 'apps' seem like something popular market and 'new', because a "computer program" sounds too 'nerdy'. :(

I want to mention something that caught me first when I was trying to adapt a SpriteKit-based app to avoid the round edges and "notch" of the new iPhone X, as suggested by the latest Human Interface Guidelines: The new property safeAreaLayoutGuide of UIView needs to be queried after the view has been added to the hierarchy (for example, on -viewDidAppear:) in order to report a meaningful layout frame (otherwise, it just returns the full screen size).

The layout guide representing the portion of your view that is unobscured by bars and other content. When the view is visible onscreen, this guide reflects the portion of the view that is not covered by navigation bars, tab bars, toolbars, and other ancestor views. The gcc guys really improved the diagnosis experience in gcc (ah competition). They created a wiki page to showcase it here. gcc 4.8 now has quite good diagnostics as well (gcc 4.9x added color support). Clang is still in the lead, but the gap is closing.

The performance in terms of generated code between gcc and Clang is now unclear (though I think that gcc 4.7 still has the lead, I haven't seen conclusive benchmarks yet), but for students to learn it does not really matter anyway.

Best way to deploy Visual Studio application that can run without installing
It is possible and is deceptively easy:
- "Publish" the application (to, say, some folder on drive C), either from menu Build or from the project's properties ? Publish. This will create an installer for a ClickOnce application.
- But instead of using the produced installer, find the produced files (the EXE file and the .config, .manifest, and .application files, along with any DLL files, etc.) - they are all in the same folder and typically in the
bin\Debugfolder below the project file (.csproj). - Zip that folder (leave out any *.vhost.* files and the
app.publishfolder (they are not needed), and the .pdb files unless you foresee debugging directly on your user's system (for example, by remote control)), and provide it to the users.
An added advantage is that, as a ClickOnce application, it does not require administrative privileges to run (if your application follows the normal guidelines for which folders to use for application data, etc.).
As for .NET, you can check for the minimum required version of .NET being installed (or at all) in the application (most users will already have it installed) and present a dialog with a link to the download page on the Microsoft website (or point to one of your pages that could redirect to the Microsoft page - this makes it more robust if the Microsoft URL change). As it is a small utility, you could target .NET 2.0 to reduce the probability of a user to have to install .NET.
It works. We use this method during development and test to avoid having to constantly uninstall and install the application and still being quite close to how the final application will run.
Python ValueError: too many values to unpack
self.materials is a dict and by default you are iterating over just the keys (which are strings).
Since self.materials has more than two keys*, they can't be unpacked into the tuple "k, m", hence the ValueError exception is raised.
In Python 2.x, to iterate over the keys and the values (the tuple "k, m"), we use self.materials.iteritems().
However, since you're throwing the key away anyway, you may as well simply iterate over the dictionary's values:

How to set java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true at runtime?
I ran into this very problem trying to send mail with javax.mail from a web application in a web server running Java 7. Internal mail server destinations failed with "network unreachable", despite telnet and ping working from the same host, and while external mail servers worked. I tried
System.setProperty("java.net.preferIPv4Stack" , "true");
in the code, but that failed. So the parameter value was probably cached earlier by the system. Setting the VM argument
-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
in the web server startup script worked.
One further bit of evidence: in a very small targeted test program, setting the system property in the code did work. So the parameter is probably cached when the first Socket is used, probably not just as the JVM starts.

@Daniel Thompson mentions that he had forgotten to add {"Content-Type": "application/json"} in the request. He was able to change the request, however, changing requests is not always possible (we are working on the server here).
In my case I needed to force content-type: text/plain to be parsed as json.
If you cannot change the content-type of the request, try using the following code:

Can't install via pip because of egg_info error
Having the same error trying to install matplotlib for Python 3, those solutions didn't work for me. It was just a matter of dependencies, though it wasn't clear in the error message.
I used sudo apt-get build-dep python3-matplotlib then sudo pip3 install matplotlib and it worked.

While all other answers give you a solution to make different Builds according to the platform, I give you an option to only have the "AnyCPU" configuration and make a build that works with your x86 and x64 dlls.
You have to write some plumbing code for this.
Resolution of correct x86/x64-dlls at runtime
Steps:
- Use AnyCPU in csproj
- Decide if you only reference the x86 or the x64 dlls in your csprojs. Adapt the UnitTests settings to the architecture settings you have chosen. It's important for debugging/running the tests inside VisualStudio.
- On Reference-Properties set Copy Local & Specific Version to false
- Get rid of the architecture warnings by adding this line to the first PropertyGroup in all of your csproj files where you reference x86/x64:
<ResolveAssemblyWarnOrErrorOnTargetArchitectureMismatch>None</ResolveAssemblyWarnOrErrorOnTargetArchitectureMismatch> Add this postbuild script to your startup project, use and modify the paths of this script sp that it copies all your x86/x64 dlls in corresponding subfolders of your build bin\x86\ bin\x64\
