I know an answer has already been accepted for this problem but someone asked in the comments if there was a solution that could be done outside the web.config. I had a ListView producing the exact same error and setting EnableViewState to false resolved this problem for me.

I think jQuery cannot find the element.

First of all find the element

Since this is one of the top search results for questions related to this I felt it was worth mentioning how you can make this work with Kendo().DropDownListFor() as well.

Everything is the same as with OnaBai's post except for how you select the item based off of its text and your selector.

To do that you would swap out dataItem.symbol for dataItem.[DataTextFieldName]. Whatever model field you used for .DataTextField() is what you will be comparing against.

You don't appear to understand what still reachable means.

Anything still reachable is not a leak. You don't need to do anything about it.

I would suggest adding class no-js to your html to nest your CSS selectors under it like:

I had this problem in a DataFrame (df) created from an Excel-sheet with several internal header rows.

After cleaning out the internal header rows from df, the columns' values were of "non-null object" type (DataFrame.info()).

This code converted all numerical values of multiple columns to int64 and float64 in one go:

It can be very useful a few times, but in general, no fall-through is the desired behavior. Fall-through should be allowed, but not implicit.

Difference Between Static and Volatile :

Static Variable: If two Threads(suppose t1 and t2) are accessing the same object and updating a variable which is declared as static then it means t1 and t2 can make their own local copy of the same object(including static variables) in their respective cache, so update made by t1 to the static variable in its local cache wont reflect in the static variable for t2 cache .

Static variables are used in the context of Object where update made by one object would reflect in all the other objects of the same class but not in the context of Thread where update of one thread to the static variable will reflect the changes immediately to all the threads (in their local cache).

Volatile variable: If two Threads(suppose t1 and t2) are accessing the same object and updating a variable which is declared as volatile then it means t1 and t2 can make their own local cache of the Object except the variable which is declared as a volatile . So the volatile variable will have only one main copy which will be updated by different threads and update made by one thread to the volatile variable will immediately reflect to the other Thread.

I'll provide you with my vision of somebody who feels very uncomfortable in the Java world, which I assume is also your case.

What it is

A workspace is a concept of grouping together:

1. a set of (somehow) related projects
2. some configuration pertaining to all these projects
3. some settings for Eclipse itself

This happens by creating a directory and putting inside it (you don't have to do it, it's done for you) files that manage to tell Eclipse these information. All you have to do explicitly is to select the folder where these files will be placed. And this folder doesn't need to be the same where you put your source code - preferentially it won't be.

Exploring each item above:

1. a set of (somehow) related projects

Eclipse seems to always be opened in association with a particular workspace, i.e., if you are in a workspace A and decide to switch to workspace B (File > Switch Workspaces), Eclipse will close itself and reopen. All projects that were associated with workspace A (and were appearing in the Project Explorer) won't appear anymore and projects associated with workspace B will now appear. So it seems that a project, to be open in Eclipse, MUST be associated to a workspace.

Notice that this doesn't mean that the project source code must be inside the workspace. The workspace will, somehow, have a relation to the physical path of your projects in your disk (anybody knows how? I've looked inside the workspace searching for some file pointing to the projects paths, without success).

This way, a project can be inside more than 1 workspace at a time. So it seems good to keep your workspace and your source code separated.

2. some configuration pertaining to all these projects

I heard that something, like the Java compiler version (like 1.7, e.g - I don't know if 'version' is the word here), is a workspace-level configuration. If you have several projects inside your workspace, and compile them inside of Eclipse, all of them will be compiled with the same Java compiler.

3. some settings for Eclipse itself

Some things like your key bindings are stored at a workspace-level, also. So, if you define that ctrl+tab will switch tabs in a smart way (not stacking them), this will only be bound to your current workspace. If you want to use the same key binding in another workspace (and I think you want!), it seems that you have to export/import them between workspaces (if that's true, this IDE was built over some really strange premises). Here is a link on this.

It also seems that workspaces are not necessarily compatible between different Eclipse versions. This article suggests that you name your workspaces containing the name of the Eclipse version.

And, more important, once you pick a folder to be your workspace, don't touch any file inside there or you are in for some trouble.

How I think is a good way to use it

(actually, as I'm writing this, I don't know how to use this in a good way, that's why I was looking for an answer – that I'm trying to assemble here)

1. Create a folder for your projects:
   /projects

2. Create a folder for each project and group the projects' sub-projects inside of it:
   /projects/proj1/subproj1_1
/projects/proj1/subproj1_2
/projects/proj2/subproj2_1

3. Create a separate folder for your workspaces:
   /eclipse-workspaces

4. Create workspaces for your projects:
   /eclipse-workspaces/proj1
/eclipse-workspaces/proj2

Docker caches the entire filesystem state after each successful RUN line.

Knowing that:

• to examine the latest state before your failing RUN command, comment it out in the Dockerfile (as well as any and all subsequent RUN commands), then run docker build and docker run again.
• to examine the state after the failing RUN command, simply add || true to it to force it to succeed; then proceed like above (keep any and all subsequent RUN commands commented out, run docker build and docker run)

Tada, no need to mess with Docker internals or layer IDs, and as a bonus Docker automatically minimizes the amount of work that needs to be re-done.

The error is clear, isn't it?

You've not added the path where sqljdbc_auth.dll is present. Find out in the system where the DLL is and add that to your classpath.

And if that also doesn't work, add the folder where the DLL is present (I'm assuming \Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0\sqljdbc_3.0\enu\auth\x86) to your PATH variable.

Again if you're going via ant or cmd you have to explicitly mention the path using -Djava.library.path=[path to MS_SQL_AUTH_DLL]

To me it feels like you have missing header files for popen, which is a C system library.

Check if you have installed xcode successful with the command line tools and have accepted the license.

For the rest is just using some of Qt classes. One way I use it is to spawn processes cross-platform.

This combination (and values near to these) seems to "magically" work for me to keep the colorbar scaled to the plot, no matter what size the display.

No, there's not really any way to control this as a web developer.

Small exceptions are that you can do some fake forcing of anti-aliasing by using Flash through sIFR, and some browsers won't anti-alias bitmap/pixel fonts (as they shouldn't, more info: Anti-Aliasing / Anti-Anti-Aliasing).

Also, as Daniel mentioned, it's ideal to be using em units for all fonts, see The Incredible Em & Elastic Layouts with CSS for more information about this.

The correct answer to this particular questions is "don't select". Sometimes you have to select or activate, but 99% of the time you don't. If your code looks like

You probably need to refactor and consider not selecting.

The error, Method 'Range' of object '_Worksheet' failed, error 1004, that you're getting is because the sheet with the button on it doesn't have a range named "Result". Most (maybe all) properties that return an object have a default Parent object. In this case, you're using the Range property to return a Range object. Because you don't qualify the Range property, Excel uses the default.

The default Parent object can be different based on the circumstances. If your code were in a standard module, then the ActiveSheet would be the default Parent and Excel would try to resolve ActiveSheet.Range("Result"). Your code is in a sheet's class module (the sheet with the button on it). When the unqualified reference is used there, the default Parent is the sheet that's attached to that module. In this case they're the same because the sheet has to be active to click the button, but that isn't always the case.

When Excel gives the error that includes text like '_Object' (yours said '_Worksheet') it's always referring to the default Parent object - the underscore gives that away. Generally the way to fix that is to qualify the reference by being explicit about the parent. But in the case of selecting and activating when you don't need to, it's better to just refactor the code.

Here's one way to write your code without any selecting or activating.

When I'm in a class module, like the sheet's class module that you're working in, I always try to do things in terms of that class. So I use Me.Parent instead of ActiveWorkbook. It makes the code more portable and prevents unexpected problems when things change.

I'm sure the code you have now runs in milliseconds, so you may not care, but avoiding selecting will definitely speed up your code and you don't have to set ScreenUpdating. That may become important as your code grows or in a different situation.

I found this courtesy of ryanfait.com. It's actually remarkably simple.

You are free to change myversion to whatever you want that isn't a reserved property.

My experience of XmlReader is that it's very easy to accidentally read too much. I know you've said you want to read it as quickly as possible, but have you tried using a DOM model instead? I've found that LINQ to XML makes XML work much much easier.

If your document is particularly huge, you can combine XmlReader and LINQ to XML by creating an XElement from an XmlReader for each of your "outer" elements in a streaming manner: this lets you do most of the conversion work in LINQ to XML, but still only need a small portion of the document in memory at any one time. Here's some sample code (adapted slightly from this blog post):

2. Or, if you still wanna do this by yourself, you could remove the fieldset (its not semantically right to use it for this anyway) and create a structure by yourself.

EDIT: Please note that setting to NULL works on all browsers while setting to an empty string did not.

IMHO, the best way is to call Python using POST via AJAX and do everything you need to do with the DB within Python, then return the result to the javascript. json and sqlite support in Python is awesome and it's 100% built-in within even slightly recent versions of Python, so there is no "install this, install that" pain. In Python:

If you want to use this with command line or function arguments, make sure you use size=${#1} instead of size=${#$1}. The second one may be more instinctual but is incorrect syntax.

As has been pointed out in some other answers and comments, what you are missing here is a call to the JVM System class to print out the string generated by your toString() method.

This will get the job done, but I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. If we take a look at the javadocs for the Object class, we find this description for toString():

Returns a string representation of the object. In general, the toString method returns a string that "textually represents" this object. The result should be a concise but informative representation that is easy for a person to read. It is recommended that all subclasses override this method.

The emphasis added there is my own. You are creating a string that contains the entire state of the linked list, which somebody using your class is probably not expecting. I would recommend the following changes:

1. Add a toString() method to your LinkedListNode class.
2. Update the toString() method in your LinkedList class to be more concise.
3. Add a new method called printList() to your LinkedList class that does what you are currently expecting toString() to do.

Unique Key (UK): It's a column or a group of columns that can identify a uniqueness in a row.

Primary Key (PK): It's also a column or group of columns that can identify a uniqueness in a row.

So the Primary key is just another name for unique key, but the default implementation in SQL Server is different for Primary and Unique Key.

By Default:

1. PK creates a Clustered index and UK creates a Non Clustered Index.
2. PK is not null, but UK allows nulls (Note: By Default)
3. There can only be one and only one PK on a table, but there can be multiple UK's
4. You can override the default implementation depending upon your need.

It really depends what is your aim when deciding whether to create a UK or PK. It follows an analogy like "If there is a team of three people, so all of them are peers, but there will be one of them who will be a pair of peers: PK and UK has similar relation.". Real, User and Sys process time statistics

One of these things is not like the other. Real refers to actual elapsed time; User and Sys refer to CPU time used only by the process.

• Real is wall clock time - time from start to finish of the call. This is all elapsed time including time slices used by other processes and time the process spends blocked (for example if it is waiting for I/O to complete).

• User is the amount of CPU time spent in user-mode code (outside the kernel) within the process. This is only actual CPU time used in executing the process. Other processes and time the process spends blocked do not count towards this figure.

• Sys is the amount of CPU time spent in the kernel within the process. This means executing CPU time spent in system calls within the kernel, as opposed to library code, which is still running in user-space. Like 'user', this is only CPU time used by the process. See below for a brief description of kernel mode (also known as 'supervisor' mode) and the system call mechanism.

User+Sys will tell you how much actual CPU time your process used. Note that this is across all CPUs, so if the process has multiple threads (and this process is running on a computer with more than one processor) it could potentially exceed the wall clock time reported by Real (which usually occurs). Note that in the output these figures include the User and Sys time of all child processes (and their descendants) as well when they could have been collected, e.g. by wait(2) or waitpid(2), although the underlying system calls return the statistics for the process and its children separately.

Origins of the statistics reported by time (1)

The statistics reported by time are gathered from various system calls. 'User' and 'Sys' come from wait (2) (POSIX) or times (2) (POSIX), depending on the particular system. 'Real' is calculated from a start and end time gathered from the gettimeofday (2) call. Depending on the version of the system, various other statistics such as the number of context switches may also be gathered by time.

On a multi-processor machine, a multi-threaded process or a process forking children could have an elapsed time smaller than the total CPU time - as different threads or processes may run in parallel. Also, the time statistics reported come from different origins, so times recorded for very short running tasks may be subject to rounding errors, as the example given by the original poster shows.

A brief primer on Kernel vs. User mode

On Unix, or any protected-memory operating system, 'Kernel' or 'Supervisor' mode refers to a privileged mode that the CPU can operate in. Certain privileged actions that could affect security or stability can only be done when the CPU is operating in this mode; these actions are not available to application code. An example of such an action might be manipulation of the MMU to gain access to the address space of another process. Normally, user-mode code cannot do this (with good reason), although it can request shared memory from the kernel, which could be read or written by more than one process. In this case, the shared memory is explicitly requested from the kernel through a secure mechanism and both processes have to explicitly attach to it in order to use it.

The privileged mode is usually referred to as 'kernel' mode because the kernel is executed by the CPU running in this mode. In order to switch to kernel mode you have to issue a specific instruction (often called a trap) that switches the CPU to running in kernel mode and runs code from a specific location held in a jump table. For security reasons, you cannot switch to kernel mode and execute arbitrary code - the traps are managed through a table of addresses that cannot be written to unless the CPU is running in supervisor mode. You trap with an explicit trap number and the address is looked up in the jump table; the kernel has a finite number of controlled entry points.

The 'system' calls in the C library (particularly those described in Section 2 of the man pages) have a user-mode component, which is what you actually call from your C program. Behind the scenes, they may issue one or more system calls to the kernel to do specific services such as I/O, but they still also have code running in user-mode. It is also quite possible to directly issue a trap to kernel mode from any user space code if desired, although you may need to write a snippet of assembly language to set up the registers correctly for the call.

More about 'sys'

There are things that your code cannot do from user mode - things like allocating memory or accessing hardware (HDD, network, etc.). These are under the supervision of the kernel, and it alone can do them. Some operations like malloc orfread/fwrite will invoke these kernel functions and that then will count as 'sys' time. Unfortunately it's not as simple as "every call to malloc will be counted in 'sys' time". The call to malloc will do some processing of its own (still counted in 'user' time) and then somewhere along the way it may call the function in kernel (counted in 'sys' time). After returning from the kernel call, there will be some more time in 'user' and then malloc will return to your code. As for when the switch happens, and how much of it is spent in kernel mode... you cannot say. It depends on the implementation of the library. Also, other seemingly innocent functions might also use malloc and the like in the background, which will again have some time in 'sys' then.

You can use string.indexOf('a').

If the char a is present in string :

it returns the the index of the first occurrence of the character in the character sequence represented by this object, or -1 if the character does not occur.

I dislike using replace function to remove characters from string. This is not logical to do it like that. Usually I program in C# (Sharp), and whenever I want to remove characters from string, I use the Remove method of the String class, but no Replace method, even though it exists, because when I am about to remove, I remove, no replace. This is logical!

In Javascript, there is no remove function for string, but there is substr function. You can use the substr function once or twice to remove characters from string. You can make the following function to remove characters at start index to the end of string, just like the c# method first overload String.Remove(int startIndex):

There is no portable way to read raw characters from a Java console.

Some platform-dependent workarounds have been presented above. But to be really portable, you'd have to abandon console mode and use a windowing mode, e.g. AWT or Swing.

I think the most important thing to keep in mind is: is the name descriptive enough? Can you tell by looking at the name what the Class is supposed to do? Using words like "Manager", "Service" or "Handler" in your class names can be considered too generic, but since a lot of programmers use them it also helps understanding what the class is for.

I myself have been using the facade-pattern a lot (at least, I think that's what it is called). I could have a User class that describes just one user, and a Users class that keeps track of my "collection of users". I don't call the class a UserManager because I don't like managers in real-life and I don't want to be reminded of them :) Simply using the plural form helps me understand what the class does.

This answer may come a bit late but I have found an acceptable solution. My approach is a bit similar to @Mani one but I think mine is a bit more easy to understand.

Putting it into global hook and into the component itself are not ideal, global hook checks every request so you will need to write a lot of conditions to check if it should be 404 and window.location.href in the component creation is too late as the request has gone into the component already and then you take it out.

What I did is to have a dedicated url for 404 pages and have a path * that for everything that not found.

The replace() function is entirely context-free, but addresses are not. A complete solution needs to have additional logic to interpret the context correctly, and then apply replace() as needed.

Databases commonly contain addresses, and so I wanted to point out that the generalized version of the OP's problem as applied to addresses within the United States has been addressed (humor!) by the Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS). CASS is a database tool that accepts a U.S. address and completes or corrects it to meet a standard set by the U.S. Postal Service. still returns those two values, but maybe exclude them explicit:

My usual trick is to simply print sys.path in the actual context where the import problem happens. In your case it'd seem that the place for the print is in /home/hughdbrown/.local/bin/pserve . Then check dirs & files in the places that path shows..

The accepted answer by Francisco Spaeth works and is easy to follow. However, I think that method of building JSON sucks! This was really driven home for me as I converted some Python to Java where I could use dictionaries and nested lists, etc. to build JSON with ridiculously greater ease.

What I really don't like is having to instantiate separate objects (and generally even name them) to build up these nestings. If you have a lot of objects or data to deal with, or your use is more abstract, that is a real pain!

I tried getting around some of that by attempting to clear and reuse temp json objects and lists, but that didn't work for me because all the puts and gets, etc. in these Java objects work by reference not value. So, I'd end up with JSON objects containing a bunch of screwy data after still having some ugly (albeit differently styled) code.

So, here's what I came up with to clean this up. It could use further development, but this should help serve as a base for those of you looking for more reasonable JSON building code:

I think that I should add some more informations for this.

If you use this.location.replaceState() router of your application is not updated, so if you use router information later it's not equal for this in your browser. For example if you use localizeService to change language, after switch language your application back to last URL where you was before change it with this.location.replaceState().

If you don't want this behaviour you can chose different method for update URL, like:

In a word - speed. An index for up to a million rows fits in a 32-bit word, so it can be used efficiently on 32-bit processors. I wrote two applications, one medium sized, and the other, fairly small. I'd fire up the medium sized one (on linux, centos), without any args, (java server), and it would run just fine. But when I then fired up the smaller app with "java client", it would tell me it couldn't reserve enough space, and wouldn't run. I experimented, and used the -Xms and -Xmx both with 10m, and they would both run without complaint... Go figure!

You're trying to create a tuple, but you're just parenthesizing a string :)

The *self.__args turns your string into a list of characters, passing them to the processLine function. If you pass it a one element list, it will pass that element as the first argument - in your case, the string.

That site does not claim PyPy is 6.3 times faster than CPython. To quote:

The geometric average of all benchmarks is 0.16 or 6.3 times faster than CPython

This is a very different statement to the blanket statement you made, and when you understand the difference, you'll understand at least one set of reasons why you can't just say "use PyPy". It might sound like I'm nit-picking, but understanding why these two statements are totally different is vital.

To break that down:

• The statement they make only applies to the benchmarks they've used. It says absolutely nothing about your program (unless your program is exactly the same as one of their benchmarks).

• The statement is about an average of a group of benchmarks. There is no claim that running PyPy will give a 6.3 times improvement even for the programs they have tested.

• There is no claim that PyPy will even run all the programs that CPython runs at all, let alone faster.

Tim Cas one liner is amazing for strings obtained by a call to fgets, because you know they contain a single newline at the end.

If you are in a different context and want to handle strings that may contain more than one newline, you might be looking for strrspn. It is not POSIX, meaning you will not find it on all Unices. I wrote one for my own needs.

VB6 Installs just fine on Windows 7 (and Windows 8 / Windows 10) with a few caveats.

Here is how to install it:

• Before proceeding with the installation process below, create a zero-byte file in C:\Windows called MSJAVA.DLL. The setup process will look for this file, and if it doesn't find it, will force an installation of old, old Java, and require a reboot. By creating the zero-byte file, the installation of moldy Java is bypassed, and no reboot will be required.
• Turn off UAC.
• Insert Visual Studio 6 CD.
• Exit from the Autorun setup.
• Browse to the root folder of the VS6 CD.
• Right-click SETUP.EXE, select Run As Administrator.
• On this and other Program Compatibility Assistant warnings, click Run Program.
• Click Next.
• Click "I accept agreement", then Next.
• Enter name and company information, click Next.
• Select Custom Setup, click Next.
• Click Continue, then Ok.

1: make sure there are no remaining references to the excel application you created (you should only have one anyway; set it to null)

2: call GC.Collect()

3: Excel has to be closed, either by the user manually closing the program, or by you calling Quit on the Excel object. (Note that Quit will function just as if the user tried to close the program, and will present a confirmation dialog if there are unsaved changes, even if Excel is not visible. The user could press cancel, and then Excel will not have been closed.)

One way to implement this is to wrap the interop Excel object with your own class, create the interop instance in the constructor, and implement IDisposable with Dispose looking something like

That will clean up excel from your program's side of things. Once Excel is closed (manually by the user or by you calling Quit) the process will go away. If the program has already been closed, then the process will disappear on the GC.Collect() call.

(I'm not sure how important it is, but you may want a GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() call after the GC.Collect() call but it is not strictly necessary to get rid of the Excel process.)

This has worked for me without issue for years. Keep in mind though that while this works, you actually have to close gracefully for it to work. You will still get accumulating excel.exe processes if you interrupt your program before Excel is cleaned up (usually by hitting "stop" while your program is being debugged).'

The easiest way to solve this in pure HTML is to use the <base href="…"> element like so:

As far as I know you can use all mentioned technologies separately or together. It's up to you. I think you look at the problem from the wrong angle. Material Design is just the way particular elements of the page are designed, behave and put together. Material Design provides great UI/UX, but it relies on the graphic layout (HTML/CSS) rather than JS (events, interactions).

On the other hand, AngularJS and Bootstrap are front-end frameworks that can speed up your development by saving you from writing tons of code. For example, you can build web app utilizing AngularJS, but without Material Design. Or You can build simple HTML5 web page with Material Design without AngularJS or Bootstrap. Finally you can build web app that uses AngularJS with Bootstrap and with Material Design. This is the best scenario. All technologies support each other.

It seems to me that you might be better off with a list rather than using orca1, orca2, etc, ... then it would be orca[1], orca[2], ...

Usually you're making a list of variables differentiated by nothing but a number because that number would be a convenient way to access them later.

Summary (The way I understood): Because libtool deals with static and dynamic libraries internally (through --diable-shared or --disable-static) it creates a wrapper on the library files it builds. They are treated as binary library files with in libtool supported environment.

You could do this:

Since you can't pass template parameters to a constructor, this solution essentially converts the template parameter to a regular parameter. Using the UseType<T>() function when calling the constructor makes it clear to someone looking at the code that the purpose of that parameter is to tell the constructor what type to use.

One use case for this would be if the constructor creates a derived class object and assigns it to a member variable that is a base class pointer. (The constructor needs to know which derived class to use, but the class itself doesn't need to be templated since the same base class pointer type is always used.)

From my experience, the way I do it is create a snapshot of your current image, then once its done you'll see it as an option when launching new instances. Simply launch it as a large instance at that point.

This is my approach if I do not want any downtime(i.e. production server) because this solution only takes a server offline only after the new one is up and running(I also use it to add new machines to my clusters by using this approach to only add new machines). If Downtime is acceptable then see Marcel Castilho's answer.

Similar to the previous answers, the problem is some character (possibly invisible) that the Python interpreter doesn't recognize. Because this is often due to copy-pasting code, re-typing the line is one option.

But if you don't want to re-type the line, you can paste your code into this tool or something similar (Google "show unicode characters online"), and it will reveal any non-standard characters. For example,

You can then delete the non-standard characters from the string.

In the beaten-up MVC pattern, the Servlet is "C" - controller.

Its main job is to do initial request evaluation and then dispatch the processing based on the initial evaluation to the specific worker. One of the worker's responsibilities may be to setup some presentation layer beans and forward the request to the JSP page to render HTML. So, for this reason alone, you need to pass the request object to the service layer.

I would not, though, start writing raw Servlet classes. The work they do is very predictable and boilerplate, something that framework does very well. Fortunately, there are many available, time-tested candidates ( in the alphabetical order ): Apache Wicket, Java Server Faces, Spring to name a few.

I am also still figuring out the internals of git, and have figured out this so far:

1. HEAD is a file in your .git/ directory that normally looks something like this:

This is called a detached HEAD. The remote master is ahead of your local master. When you do git submodule --remote myrepo to get the latest commit of your submodule, it will by default do a checkout, which will update HEAD. Since your current branch master is behind, HEAD becomes 'detached' from your current branch, so to speak.

(1) == can be be applied for both primitives and object types, but equals() method can be applied for only object types.

(2) == cannot be overridden for content comparison, but equals method can be overridden for content comparison(ex; String class, wrapper classes, collection classes).

(3) == gives incomparable types error when try to apply for heterogeneous types , where as equals method returns false.

(.*) instead of (.)* would be a start. The latter will only capture the last character on the line.

Also, no need to escape the :.

WhatsApp has chosen Erlang a language built for writing scalable applications that are designed to withstand errors. Erlang uses an abstraction called the Actor model for it's concurrency - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actor_(programming_language) Instead of the more traditional shared memory approach, actors communicate by sending each other messages. Actors unlike threads are designed to be lightweight. Actors could be on the same machine or on different machines and the message passing abstractions works for both. A simple implementation of WhatsApp could be: Each user/device is represented as an actor. This actor is responsible for handling the inbox of the user, how it gets serialized to disk, the messages that the user sends and the messages that the user receives. Let's assume that Alice and Bob are friends on WhatsApp. So there is an an Alice actor and a Bob actor.

Let's trace a series of messages flowing back and forth:

Alice decides to message Bob. Alice's phone establishes a connection to the WhatsApp server and it is established that this connection is definitely from Alice's phone. Alice now sends via TCP the following message: "For Bob: A giant monster is attacking the Golden Gate Bridge". One of the WhatsApp front end server deserializes this message and delivers this message to the actor called Alice.

Alice the actor decides to serialize this and store it in a file called "Alice's Sent Messages", stored on a replicated file system to prevent data loss due to unpredictable monster rampage. Alice the actor then decides to forward this message to Bob the actor by passing it a message "Msg1 from Alice: A giant monster is attacking the Golden Gate Bridge". Alice the actor can retry with exponential back-off till Bob the actor acknowledges receiving the message.

Bob the actor eventually receives the message from (2) and decides to store this message in a file called "Bob's Inbox". Once it has stored this message durably Bob the actor will acknowledge receiving the message by sending Alice the actor a message of it's own saying "I received Msg1". Alice the actor can now stop it's retry efforts. Bob the actor then checks to see if Bob's phone has an active connection to the server. It does and so Bob the actor streams this message to the device via TCP.

Bob sees this message and replies with "For Alice: Let's create giant robots to fight them". This is now received by Bob the actor as outlined in Step 1. Bob the actor then repeats Step 2 and 3 to make sure Alice eventually receives the idea that will save mankind.

WhatsApp actually uses the XMPP protocol instead of the vastly superior protocol that I outlined above, but you get the point.

BehaviorSubject is a type of subject, a subject is a special type of observable so you can subscribe to messages like any other observable. The unique features of BehaviorSubject are:

• It needs an initial value as it must always return a value on subscription even if it hasn't received a next()
• Upon subscription, it returns the last value of the subject. A regular observable only triggers when it receives an onnext
• at any point, you can retrieve the last value of the subject in a non-observable code using the getValue() method.

Unique features of a subject compared to an observable are:

• It is an observer in addition to being an observable so you can also send values to a subject in addition to subscribing to it.

In addition, you can get an observable from behavior subject using the asObservable() method on BehaviorSubject.

Observable is a Generic, and BehaviorSubject is technically a sub-type of Observable because BehaviorSubject is an observable with specific qualities.

An observable can be created from both Subject and BehaviorSubject using subject.asObservable().

The only difference being you can't send values to an observable using next() method.

In Angular services, I would use BehaviorSubject for a data service as an angular service often initializes before component and behavior subject ensures that the component consuming the service receives the last updated data even if there are no new updates since the component's subscription to this data.

Parameter Options FollowSymLinks enables you to have a symlink in your webroot pointing to some other file/dir. With this disabled, Apache will refuse to follow such symlink. More secure Options SymLinksIfOwnerMatch can be used instead - this will allow you to link only to other files which you do own.

If you use Options directive in .htaccess with parameter which has been forbidden in main Apache config, server will return HTTP 500 error code.

Allowed .htaccess options are defined by directive AllowOverride in the main Apache config file. To allow symlinks, this directive need to be set to All or Options.

Besides allowing use of symlinks, this directive is also needed to enable mod_rewrite in .htaccess context. But for this, also the more secure SymLinksIfOwnerMatch option can be used.

For me this problem arised while trying to connect to the SAP Hana database. When I got this error,

OperationalError: Lost connection to HANA server (ConnectionResetError(10054, 'An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host', None, 10054, None))

I tried to run the code for connection(mentioned below), which created that error, again and it worked.

It was because the server refused to connect. It might require you to wait for a while and try again. Try closing the Hana Studio by logging off and then logging in again. Keep running the code for a number of times.

Reference Resolution is described by RFC 3986 Uniform Resource Identifier (URI): Generic Syntax. And that is exactly how it supposed to work. To preserve base URI path you need to add slash at the end of the base URI and remove slash at the beginning of relative URI.

Interesting I just ran a test using LinqPad with SQL Server which should be just running Linq to SQL underneath and it generates the following SQL statement.

An alternative to the code from @Cody:

Using the modulus operator:

I think this is marginally better code than writing if/else, because there is less duplication & unused flexibility. It does require a bit more brain power to examine, but the good naming of isEven compensates.

The Host Header tells the webserver which virtual host to use (if set up). You can even have the same virtual host using several aliases (= domains and wildcard-domains). In this case, you still have the possibility to read that header manually in your web app if you want to provide different behavior based on different domains addressed. This is possible because in your webserver you can (and if I'm not mistaken you must) set up one vhost to be the default host. This default vhost is used whenever the host header does not match any of the configured virtual hosts.

That means: You get it right, although saying "multiple hosts" may be somewhat misleading: The host (the addressed machine) is the same, what really gets resolved to the IP address are different domain names (including subdomains) that are also referred to as hostnames (but not hosts!).

Although not part of the question, a fun fact: This specification led to problems with SSL in early days because the web server has to deliver the certificate that corresponds to the domain the client has addressed. However, in order to know what certificate to use, the webserver should have known the addressed hostname in advance. But because the client sends that information only over the encrypted channel (which means: after the certificate has already been sent), the server had to assume you browsed the default host. That meant one ssl-secured domain per IP address / port-combination.

This has been overcome with Server Name Indication; however, that again breaks some privacy, as the server name is now transferred in plain text again, so every man-in-the-middle would see which hostname you are trying to connect to.

Although the webserver would know the hostname from Server Name Indication, the Host header is not obsolete, because the Server Name Indication information is only used within the TLS handshake. With an unsecured connection, there is no Server Name Indication at all, so the Host header is still valid (and necessary).

Another fun fact: Most webservers (if not all) reject your HTTP request if it does not contain exactly one Host header, even if it could be omitted because there is only the default vhost configured. That means the minimum required information in an http-(get-)request is the first line containing METHOD RESOURCE and PROTOCOL VERSION and at least the Host header, like this:

I managed to solve it with two absolutely positioned divs carrying the border (one for horizontal and one for vertical), and then transforming them. The outer box just needs to be relatively positioned.

The basic problem here is that building and linking a C++ program depends heavily on the build system in use. You will need to support the following distinct tasks, using some combination of plugins and custom code:

1. General C++ language support for the editor. This is usually done using ms-vscode.cpptools, which most people expect to also handle a lot of other stuff, like build support. Let me save you some time: it doesn't. However, you will probably want it anyway.

2. Build, clean, and rebuild tasks. This is where your choice of build system becomes a huge deal. You will find plugins for things like CMake and Autoconf (god help you), but if you're using something like Meson and Ninja, you are going to have to write some helper scripts, and configure a custom "tasks.json" file to handle these. Microsoft has totally changed everything about that file over the last few versions, right down to what it is supposed to be called and the places (yes, placeS) it can go, to say nothing of completely changing the format. Worse, they've SORT OF kept backward compatibility, to be sure to use the "version" key to specify which variant you want. See details here:

Note that, in theory, this file is supposed to work if you put it in the workspace root, so that you aren't stuck checking files in hidden directories (.vscode) into your revision control system. I have yet to see that actually work; test it, but if it fails, put it in .vscode. Either way, the IDE will bitch if it isn't there anyway. (Yes, at the moment, this means I have been forced to check .vscode into subversion, which I'm not happy about.) Note that my build scripts (not shown) simply create (or recreate) a DEBUG directory using, in my case, meson, and build inside it (using, in my case, ninja).

3. Run, debug, attach, halt. These are another set of tasks, defined in "launch.json". Or at least they used to be. Microsoft has made such a hash of the documentation, I'm not even sure anymore.

Using innodb_file_per_table, all tables in InnoDB will create a separated table file, like MyISAM.

Due to the stateless nature of the web, sessions are also an extremely useful way of persisting objects across requests by serialising them and storing them in a session.

A perfect use case of this could be if you need to access regular information across your application, to save additional database calls on each request, this data can be stored in an object and unserialised on each request, like so:

Inject your session object using Dependency Injection

In a ideal world you would 'program to an interface, not implementation' and inject your serializable session object into your controller using your Inversion of Control container of choice, like so (this example uses StructureMap as it's the one I'm most familiar with).

[footnote] Implementations must behave as if these separate phases occur, although in practice different phases might be folded together.

The specified errors occur during this last stage of compilation, most commonly referred to as linking. It basically means that you compiled a bunch of implementation files into object files or libraries and now you want to get them to work together.

Say you defined symbol a in a.cpp. Now, b.cpp declared that symbol and used it. Before linking, it simply assumes that that symbol was defined somewhere, but it doesn't yet care where. The linking phase is responsible for finding the symbol and correctly linking it to b.cpp (well, actually to the object or library that uses it).

If you're using Microsoft Visual Studio, you'll see that projects generate .lib files. These contain a table of exported symbols, and a table of imported symbols. The imported symbols are resolved against the libraries you link against, and the exported symbols are provided for the libraries that use that .lib (if any).

Similar mechanisms exist for other compilers/ platforms.

Common error messages are error LNK2001, error LNK1120, error LNK2019 for Microsoft Visual Studio and undefined reference to symbolName for GCC.

There is probably another table with a foreign key referencing the primary key you are trying to change.

To find out which table caused the error you can run SHOW ENGINE INNODB STATUS and then look at the LATEST FOREIGN KEY ERROR section.

There is no big difference between those two examples that you provided. The first example cuts the video sequentially, in 2 steps, while the second example does it at the same time (using threads). No particular speed-up will be noticeable. You can read more about creating multiple outputs with FFmpeg

Further more, what you can use (in recent FFmpeg) is the stream segmenter muxer which can:

output streams to a number of separate files of nearly fixed duration. Output filename pattern can be set in a fashion similar to image2.

Please try to run the command import psycopg2 on the python console. If you get the error then check the sys.path where the python look for the install module. If the parent directory of the python-psycopg2-2.4.5-1.rhel5.x86_64 is there in the sys.path or not.
