What are best practices for REST nested resources?

I disagree with this kind of path

GET /companies/{companyId}/departments

If you want to get departments, I think it's better to use a /departments resource

GET /departments?companyId=123

I suppose you have a companies table and a departments table then classes to map them in the programming language you use. I also assume that departments could be attached to other entities than companies, so a /departments resource is straightforward, it's convenient to have resources mapped to tables and also you don't need as many endpoints since you can reuse

GET /departments?companyId=123

for any kind of search, for instance

GET /departments?name=xxx
GET /departments?companyId=123&name=xxx
etc.

If you want to create a department, the

POST /departments

resource should be used and the request body should contain the company ID (if the department can be linked to only one company).

How to force composer to reinstall a library?

You can use the --prefer-source flag for composer to checkout external packages with the VCS information (if any available). You can simply revert to the original state. Also if you issue the composer update command composer will detect any changes you made locally and ask if you want to discard them.

Your .gitignore file is related to your root project (ZF2 skeleton) and it prevents the vendor dir (where your third party libs are) from committing to your own VCS. The ignore file is unrelated to the git repo's of your vendors.

Can I store images in MySQL

You will need to store the image in the database as a BLOB.

you will want to create a column called PHOTO in your table and set it as a mediumblob.

Then you will want to get it from the form like so:

    $data = file_get_contents($_FILES['photo']['tmp_name']);

and then set the column to the value in $data.

Of course, this is bad practice and you would probably want to store the file on the system with a name that corresponds to the users account.

How do I get textual contents from BLOB in Oracle SQL

In case your text is compressed inside the blob using DEFLATE algorithm and it's quite large, you can use this function to read it

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE read_gzipped_entity_package AS

FUNCTION read_entity(entity_id IN VARCHAR2)
  RETURN VARCHAR2;

END read_gzipped_entity_package;
/

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY read_gzipped_entity_package IS

FUNCTION read_entity(entity_id IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
    l_blob              BLOB;
    l_blob_length       NUMBER;
    l_amount            BINARY_INTEGER := 10000; -- must be <= ~32765.
    l_offset            INTEGER := 1;
    l_buffer            RAW(20000);
    l_text_buffer       VARCHAR2(32767);
BEGIN
    -- Get uncompressed BLOB
    SELECT UTL_COMPRESS.LZ_UNCOMPRESS(COMPRESSED_BLOB_COLUMN_NAME)
    INTO   l_blob
    FROM   TABLE_NAME
    WHERE  ID = entity_id;

    -- Figure out how long the BLOB is.
    l_blob_length := DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(l_blob);

    -- We'll loop through the BLOB as many times as necessary to
    -- get all its data.
    FOR i IN 1..CEIL(l_blob_length/l_amount) LOOP

        -- Read in the given chunk of the BLOB.
        DBMS_LOB.READ(l_blob
        ,             l_amount
        ,             l_offset
        ,             l_buffer);

        -- The DBMS_LOB.READ procedure dictates that its output be RAW.
        -- This next procedure converts that RAW data to character data.
        l_text_buffer := UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_VARCHAR2(l_buffer);

        -- For the next iteration through the BLOB, bump up your offset
        -- location (i.e., where you start reading from).
        l_offset := l_offset + l_amount;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN l_text_buffer;
EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
        DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('!ERROR: ' || SUBSTR(SQLERRM,1,247));
END;

END read_gzipped_entity_package;
/

Then run select to get text

SELECT read_gzipped_entity_package.read_entity('entity_id') FROM DUAL;

Hope this will help someone.

How to iterate over the keys and values with ng-repeat in AngularJS?

You can do it in your javascript (controller) or in your html (angular view)...

js:

$scope.arr = [];
for ( p in data ) {
  $scope.arr.push(p);
}

html:

<tr ng-repeat="(k, v) in data">
    <td>{{k}}<input type="text" ng-model="data[k]"></td>
</tr>

I believe the html way is more angular , but you can also do in your controller and retrieve it in your html...

also not a bad idea to look at the Object keys, they give you the an array of the keys if you need them, more info here:

How to convert int[] to Integer[] in Java?

Rather than write your own code you can use an IntBuffer to wrap the existing int[] without having to copy the data into an Integer array

int[] a = {1,2,3,4};
IntBuffer b = IntBuffer.wrap(a);

IntBuffer implements comparable so you are able to use the code you already have written. Formally maps compare keys such that a.equals(b) is used to say two keys are equal, so two IntBuffers with array 1,2,3 - even if the arrays are in different memory locations - are said to be equal and so will work for your frequency code.

ArrayList<int[]> data = ... // load a dataset`

Map<IntBuffer, Double> frequencies = new HashMap<IntBuffer, Double>();

for(int[] a : data) {

    IntBuffer q = IntBuffer.wrap(a);

    if(frequencies.containsKey(q)) {
        frequencies.put(q, tfs.get(q) + p);
    } else {
        frequencies.put(q, p);
    }

}

Hope that helps

How do MySQL indexes work?

Take a look at this link: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysql-indexes.html

Android Completely transparent Status Bar?

For API > 23 with Day/Night support you can use the extension below. Important part to understand is that android:fitsSystemWindows="true" uses padding to move within insets (like you would with a Toolbar). Therefore it does not make sense to place it at your root layout (except DrawerLayout, CoordinatorLayout, ... these use their own implementation).

enter image description here

<style name="Theme.YourApp.DayNight" parent="Theme.MaterialComponents.DayNight.NoActionBar">
    ...
    <item name="android:windowLightStatusBar">@bool/isDayMode</item>
    <item name="android:statusBarColor">@android:color/transparent</item>
</style>
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout
    ...>

    <com.google.android.material.appbar.MaterialToolbar
        ...
        android:fitsSystemWindows="true">

</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout
fun Activity.transparentStatusBar() {
    if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT < Build.VERSION_CODES.R) {
        window.decorView.systemUiVisibility = (View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LAYOUT_STABLE or View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LAYOUT_FULLSCREEN)
    } else {
        window.setDecorFitsSystemWindows(false)
    }
}

Then call it like so:

class YourActivity : AppCompatActivity() {
    override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
        ...
        transparentStatusBar()
    }
}

Edit: If you have problems with content floating behind your navigation bar, use

// using Insetter

How to open spss data files in excel?

You can do it via ODBC. The steps to do it:

  1. Install IBM SPSS Statistics Data File Driver. Standalone Driver is enough.
  2. Create DNS via ODBC manager.
  3. Use the data importer in Excel via ODBC by selecting created DNS.

how to calculate binary search complexity

T(n)=T(n/2)+1

T(n/2)= T(n/4)+1+1

Put the value of The(n/2) in above so T(n)=T(n/4)+1+1 . . . . T(n/2^k)+1+1+1.....+1

=T(2^k/2^k)+1+1....+1 up to k

=T(1)+k

As we taken 2^k=n

K = log n

So Time complexity is O(log n)

Select records from NOW() -1 Day

Judging by the documentation for date/time functions, you should be able to do something like:

SELECT * FROM FOO
WHERE MY_DATE_FIELD >= NOW() - INTERVAL 1 DAY

Replace spaces with dashes and make all letters lower-case

Above answer can be considered to be confusing a little. String methods are not modifying original object. They return new object. It must be:

var str = "Sonic Free Games";
str = str.replace(/\s+/g, '-').toLowerCase(); //new object assigned to var str

List<T> or IList<T>

A principle of TDD and OOP generally is programming to an interface not an implementation.

In this specific case since you're essentially talking about a language construct, not a custom one it generally won't matter, but say for example that you found List didn't support something you needed. If you had used IList in the rest of the app you could extend List with your own custom class and still be able to pass that around without refactoring.

The cost to do this is minimal, why not save yourself the headache later? It's what the interface principle is all about.

How to render html with AngularJS templates

So maybe you want to have this in your index.html to load the library, script, and initialize the app with a view:

<html>
  <body ng-app="yourApp">
    <div class="span12">
      <div ng-view=""></div>
    </div>
    <script src="http://code.angularjs.org/1.2.0-rc.2/angular.js"></script>
    <script src="script.js"></script>
  </body>
</html>

Then yourView.html could just be:

<div>
  <h1>{{ stuff.h1 }}</h1>
  <p>{{ stuff.content }}</p>
</div>

scripts.js could have your controller with data $scope'd to it.

angular.module('yourApp')
    .controller('YourCtrl', function ($scope) {
      $scope.stuff = {
        'h1':'Title',
        'content':"A paragraph..."
      };
    });

Lastly, you'll have to config routes and assign the controller to view for it's $scope (i.e. your data object)

angular.module('yourApp', [])
.config(function ($routeProvider) {
  $routeProvider
    .when('/', {
      templateUrl: 'views/yourView.html',
      controller: 'YourCtrl'
    });
});

I haven't tested this, sorry if there's a bug but I think this is the Angularish way to get data

Why should hash functions use a prime number modulus?

tl;dr

index[hash(input)%2] would result in a collision for half of all possible hashes and a range of values. index[hash(input)%prime] results in a collision of <2 of all possible hashes. Fixing the divisor to the table size also ensures that the number cannot be greater than the table.

What is the difference between sscanf or atoi to convert a string to an integer?

When there is no concern about invalid string input or range issues, use the simplest: atoi()

Otherwise, the method with best error/range detection is neither atoi(), nor sscanf(). This good answer all ready details the lack of error checking with atoi() and some error checking with sscanf().

strtol() is the most stringent function in converting a string to int. Yet it is only a start. Below are detailed examples to show proper usage and so the reason for this answer after the accepted one.

// Over-simplified use
int strtoi(const char *nptr) {
  int i = (int) strtol(nptr, (char **)NULL, 10);
  return i;
}

This is the like atoi() and neglects to use the error detection features of strtol().

To fully use strtol(), there are various features to consider:

  1. Detection of no conversion: Examples: "xyz", or "" or "--0"? In these cases, endptr will match nptr.

    char *endptr;
    int i = (int)strtol(nptr, &endptr, 10);
    if (nptr == endptr) return FAIL_NO_CONVERT;

  2. Should the whole string convert or just the leading portion: Is "123xyz" OK?

    char *endptr;
    int i = (int)strtol(nptr, &endptr, 10);
    if (*endptr != '\0') return FAIL_EXTRA_JUNK;

  3. Detect if value was so big, the the result is not representable as a long like "999999999999999999999999999999".

    errno = 0;
    long L = strtol(nptr, &endptr, 10);
    if (errno == ERANGE) return FAIL_OVERFLOW;

  4. Detect if the value was outside the range of than int, but not long. If int and long have the same range, this test is not needed.

    long L = strtol(nptr, &endptr, 10);
    if (L < INT_MIN || L > INT_MAX) return FAIL_INT_OVERFLOW;

  5. Some implementations go beyond the C standard and set errno for additional reasons such as errno to EINVAL in case no conversion was performed or EINVAL The value of the Base parameter is not valid.. The best time to test for these errno values is implementation dependent.

Putting this all together: (Adjust to your needs)

#include <errno.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int strtoi(const char *nptr, int *error_code) {
  char *endptr;
  errno = 0;
  long i = strtol(nptr, &endptr, 10);

  #if LONG_MIN < INT_MIN || LONG_MAX > INT_MAX

Fixed header table with horizontal scrollbar and vertical scrollbar on

This has been driving me crazy for literally weeks. I found a solution that will work for me that includes:

  1. Non-fixed column widths - they shrink and grow on window resizing.
  2. Table has a horizontal scroll-bar when needed, but not when it isn't.
  3. Number of columns is irrelevant - it will size to however many columns you need it to.
  4. Not all columns need to be the same width.
  5. Header goes all the way to the end of the right scrollbar.
  6. No javascript!

...but there are a couple of caveats:

  1. The vertical scrollbar is not visible until you scroll all the way to the right. Given that most people have scroll wheels, this was an acceptable sacrifice.

  2. The width of the scrollbar must be known. On my website I set the scrollbar widths (I'm not overly concerned with older, incompatible browsers), so I can then calculate div and table widths that adjust based on the scrollbar.

Instead of posting my code here, I'll post a link to the jsFiddle.

Fixed header table + scroll left/right.

How to compile Go program consisting of multiple files?

Yup! That's very straight forward and that's where the package strategy comes into play. there are three ways to my knowledge. folder structure:

GOPATH/src/ github.com/ abc/ myproject/ adapter/ main.go pkg1 pkg2 warning: adapter can contain package main only and sun directories

  1. navigate to "adapter" folder. Run:
    go build main.go
  1. navigate to "adapter" folder. Run:
    go build main.go
  1. navigate to GOPATH/src recognize relative path to package main, here "myproject/adapter". Run:
    go build myproject/adapter

exe file will be created at the directory you are currently at.

Byte[] to ASCII

Encoding.GetString Method (Byte[]) convert bytes to a string.

When overridden in a derived class, decodes all the bytes in the specified byte array into a string.

Namespace: System.Text
Assembly: mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Syntax

public virtual string GetString(byte[] bytes)

Parameters

bytes
    Type: System.Byte[]
    The byte array containing the sequence of bytes to decode.

Return Value

Type: System.String
A String containing the results of decoding the specified sequence of bytes.

Exceptions

ArgumentException - The byte array contains invalid Unicode code points.
ArgumentNullException    - bytes is null.
DecoderFallbackException - A fallback occurred (see Character Encoding in the .NET Framework for complete explanation) or DecoderFallback is set to DecoderExceptionFallback.

Remarks

If the data to be converted is available only in sequential blocks (such as data read from a stream) or if the amount of data is so large that it needs to be divided into smaller blocks, the application should use the Decoder or the Encoder provided by the GetDecoder method or the GetEncoder method, respectively, of a derived class.

See the Remarks under Encoding.GetChars for more discussion of decoding techniques and considerations.

How do negative margins in CSS work and why is (margin-top:-5 != margin-bottom:5)?

Margin is the spacing outside your element, just as padding is the spacing inside your element.

Setting the bottom margin indicates what distance you want below the current block. Setting a negative top margin indicates that you want negative spacing above your block. Negative spacing may in itself be a confusing concept, but just the way positive top margin pushes content down, a negative top margin pulls content up.

How to limit text width

What are the integrity and crossorigin attributes?

Both attributes have been added to Bootstrap CDN to implement Subresource Integrity.

Subresource Integrity defines a mechanism by which user agents may verify that a fetched resource has been delivered without unexpected manipulation Reference

Integrity attribute is to allow the browser to check the file source to ensure that the code is never loaded if the source has been manipulated.

Crossorigin attribute is present when a request is loaded using 'CORS' which is now a requirement of SRI checking when not loaded from the 'same-origin'. More info on crossorigin

Looping through the content of a file in Bash

cat peptides.txt | while read line
do
   # do something with $line here
done

and the one-liner variant:

cat peptides.txt | while read line; do something_with_$line_here; done

These options will skip the last line of the file if there is no trailing line feed.

You can avoid this by the following:

cat peptides.txt | while read line || [[ -n $line ]];
do
   # do something with $line here
done

How to calculate a logistic sigmoid function in Python?

Here's how you would implement the logistic sigmoid in a numerically stable way (as described here):

def sigmoid(x):
    "Numerically-stable sigmoid function."
    if x >= 0:
        z = exp(-x)
        return 1 / (1 + z)
    else:
        z = exp(x)
        return z / (1 + z)

Or perhaps this is more accurate:

import numpy as np

def sigmoid(x):
    return np.exp(-np.logaddexp(0, -x))

Internally, it implements the same condition as above, but then uses log1p.

In general, the multinomial logistic sigmoid is:

def nat_to_exp(q):
    max_q = max(0.0, np.max(q))
    rebased_q = q - max_q
    return np.exp(rebased_q - np.logaddexp(-max_q, np.logaddexp.reduce(rebased_q)))

(However, logaddexp.reduce could be more accurate.)

How to pass optional parameters while omitting some other optional parameters?

you can use optional variable by ? or if you have multiple optional variable by ..., example:

function details(name: string, country="CA", address?: string, ...hobbies: string) {

}

In the above:

  • name is required
  • country is required and has a default value
  • address is optional
  • hobbies is an array of optional params

Is it possible to run .APK/Android apps on iPad/iPhone devices?

There is another option not mentioned previously:

  • Pieceable Viewer has unfortunately stopped its service at December 31, 2012 but open-sourced its software. How do I improve ASP.NET MVC application performance?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. The MOST effective way to optimize the URL route generation in an MVC application is... not generate them at all.

Most of us more or less know how URLs are generated in our apps anyway, so simply using static Url.Content("~/Blahblah") instead of Url.Action() or Url.RouteUrl() where possible, beats all other methods by almost 20 times and even more.

PS. I've ran a benchmark of couple of thousand iterations and posted results on my blog if interested.

header location not working in my php code

That is because you have an output:

?>
<?php

results in blank line output.

header() must be called before any actual output is sent, either by normal HTML tags, blank lines in a file, or from PHP

Combine all your PHP codes and make sure you don't have any spaces at the beginning of the file.

also after header('location: index.php'); add exit(); if you have any other scripts bellow.

Also move your redirect header after the last if.

If there is content, then you can also redirect by injecting javascript:

<?php
    echo "<script>window.location.href='target.php';</script>";
    exit;
?>

How to create a HTML Table from a PHP array?

It would be better to just fetch the data into array like this:

<?php
$shop = array( array("title"=>"rose", "price"=>1.25 , "number"=>15),
               array("title"=>"daisy", "price"=>0.75 , "number"=>25),
               array("title"=>"orchid", "price"=>1.15 , "number"=>7)
             );
?>

And then do something like this, which should work well even when you add more columns to your table in the database later.

<?php if (count($shop) > 0): ?>
<table>
  <thead>
    <tr>
      <th><?php echo implode('</th><th>', array_keys(current($shop))); ?></th>
    </tr>
  </thead>
  <tbody>
<?php foreach ($shop as $row): array_map('htmlentities', $row); ?>
    <tr>
      <td><?php echo implode('</td><td>', $row); ?></td>
    </tr>
<?php endforeach; ?>
  </tbody>
</table>
<?php endif; ?>

Python element-wise tuple operations like sum

Generator comprehension could be used instead of map. Built-in map function is not obsolete but it's less readable for most people than list/generator/dict comprehension, so I'd recommend not to use map function in general.

DateTime vs DateTimeOffset

The only negative side of DateTimeOffset I see is that Microsoft "forgot" (by design) to support it in their XmlSerializer class. But it has since been added to the XmlConvert utility class.

XmlConvert.ToDateTimeOffset

XmlConvert.ToString

I say go ahead and use DateTimeOffset and TimeZoneInfo because of all the benefits, just beware when creating entities which will or may be serialized to or from XML (all business objects then).

Abort Ajax requests using jQuery

I was doing a live search solution and needed to cancel pending requests that may have taken longer than the latest/most current request.

In my case I used something like this:

$(document).ajaxStart(function() {
ajax_inprocess = true;
});

$(document).ajaxStop(function() {
ajax_inprocess = false;
});

//Snippet from live search function

{
    request.abort();
}

Spring Data JPA map the native query result to Non-Entity POJO

Use the default method in the interface and get the EntityManager to get the opportunity to set the ResultTransformer, then you can return the pure POJO, like this:

final String sql = "SELECT g.*, gm.* FROM group g LEFT JOIN group_members gm ON g.group_id = gm.group_id and gm.user_id = ? WHERE g.group_id = ?";
default GroupDetails getGroupDetails(Integer userId, Integer groupId) {
    return BaseRepository.getInstance().uniqueResult(sql, GroupDetails.class, userId, groupId);
}

And the BaseRepository.java is like this:

@PersistenceContext
public EntityManager em;

public <T> T uniqueResult(String sql, Class<T> dto, Object... params) {
    Session session = em.unwrap(Session.class);
    NativeQuery q = session.createSQLQuery(sql);
    if(params!=null){
        for(int i=0,len=params.length;i<len;i++){
            Object param=params[i];
            q.setParameter(i+1, param);
        }
    }
    q.setResultTransformer(Transformers.aliasToBean(dto));
    return (T) q.uniqueResult();
}

This solution does not impact any other methods in repository interface file.

javascript scroll event for iPhone/iPad?

The iPhoneOS does capture onscroll events, except not the way you may expect.

One-finger panning doesn’t generate any events until the user stops panning—an onscroll event is generated when the page stops moving and redraws—as shown in Figure 6-1.

Similarly, scroll with 2 fingers fires onscroll only after you've stopped scrolling.

The usual way of installing the handler works e.g.

window.addEventListener('scroll', function() { alert("Scrolled"); });
// or
$(window).scroll(function() { alert("Scrolled"); });
// or
window.onscroll = function() { alert("Scrolled"); };
// etc

When to use SELECT ... FOR UPDATE?

The only portable way to achieve consistency between rooms and tags and making sure rooms are never returned after they had been deleted is locking them with SELECT FOR UPDATE.

However in some systems locking is a side effect of concurrency control, and you achieve the same results without specifying FOR UPDATE explicitly.

To solve this problem, Thread 1 should SELECT id FROM rooms FOR UPDATE, thereby preventing Thread 2 from deleting from rooms until Thread 1 is done. Is that correct?

This depends on the concurrency control your database system is using.

  • MyISAM in MySQL (and several other old systems) does lock the whole table for the duration of a query.

  • In SQL Server, SELECT queries place shared locks on the records / pages / tables they have examined, while DML queries place update locks (which later get promoted to exclusive or demoted to shared locks). Exclusive locks are incompatible with shared locks, so either SELECT or DELETE query will lock until another session commits.

  • In databases which use MVCC (like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL with InnoDB), a DML query creates a copy of the record (in one or another way) and generally readers do not block writers and vice versa. For these databases, a SELECT FOR UPDATE would come handy: it would lock either SELECT or the DELETE query until another session commits, just as SQL Server does.

When should one use REPEATABLE_READ transaction isolation versus READ_COMMITTED with SELECT ... FOR UPDATE?

Generally, REPEATABLE READ does not forbid phantom rows (rows that appeared or disappeared in another transaction, rather than being modified)

  • In Oracle and earlier PostgreSQL versions, REPEATABLE READ is actually a synonym for SERIALIZABLE. Basically, this means that the transaction does not see changes made after it has started. So in this setup, the last Thread 1 query will return the room as if it has never been deleted (which may or may not be what you wanted). If you don't want to show the rooms after they have been deleted, you should lock the rows with SELECT FOR UPDATE

  • In InnoDB, REPEATABLE READ and SERIALIZABLE are different things: readers in SERIALIZABLE mode set next-key locks on the records they evaluate, effectively preventing the concurrent DML on them. So you don't need a SELECT FOR UPDATE in serializable mode, but do need them in REPEATABLE READ or READ COMMITED.

Note that the standard on isolation modes does prescribe that you don't see certain quirks in your queries but does not define how (with locking or with MVCC or otherwise).

When I say "you don't need SELECT FOR UPDATE" I really should have added "because of side effects of certain database engine implementation".

Embed HTML5 YouTube video without iframe?

Yes, but it depends on what you mean by 'embed'; as far as I can tell after reading through the docs, it seems like you have a couple of options if you want to get around using the iframe API. You can use the javascript and flash API's (https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters) to embed a player, but that involves creating Flash objects in your code (something I personally avoid, but not necessarily something that you have to). Below are some helpful sections from the dev docs for the Youtube API.

If you really want to get around all these methods and include video without any sort of iframe, then your best bet might be creating an HTML5 video player/app that can connect to the Youtube Data API (https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/). I'm not sure what the extent of your needs are, but this would be the way to go if you really want to get around using any iframes or flash objects.

Hope this helps!

IFrame embeds using the IFrame Player API

Follow the IFrame Player API instructions to insert a video player in your web page or application after the Player API's JavaScript code has loaded. The second parameter in the constructor for the video player is an object that specifies player options. Within that object, the playerVars property identifies player parameters.

The HTML and JavaScript code below shows a simple example that inserts a YouTube player into the page element that has an id value of ytplayer. The onYouTubePlayerAPIReady() function specified here is called automatically when the IFrame Player API code has loaded. This code does not define any player parameters and also does not define other event handlers.

...

IFrame embeds using tags

Define an tag in your application in which the src URL specifies the content that the player will load as well as any other player parameters you want to set. The tag's height and width parameters specify the dimensions of the player.

If you are creating the element yourself (rather than using the IFrame Player API to create it), you can append player parameters directly to the end of the URL. The URL has the following format:

...

AS3 object embeds

First of all, when you put that code in applicationDidFinishLaunching, it might be the case that controllers instantiated from Interface Builder are not yet linked to your application (so "red" and "blue" are still nil).

But to answer your initial question, what you're doing wrong is that you're calling dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: on the wrong controller! It should be like this:

[blue presentModalViewController:red animated:YES];
[red dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];

Usually the "red" controller should decide to dismiss himself at some point (maybe when a "cancel" button is clicked). Then the "red" controller could call the method on self:

[self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];

If it still doesn't work, it might have something to do with the fact that the controller is presented in an animation fashion, so you might not be allowed to dismiss the controller so soon after presenting it.

I have the same problem, the difference is I don't have access to the source code. I've fixed my problem by putting correct version of EntityFramework.SqlServer.dll in the bin directory of the application.

Splitting a string at every n-th character

You could do it like this:

String s = "1234567890";
System.out.println(java.util.Arrays.toString(s.split("(?<=\\G...)")));

which produces:

[123, 456, 789, 0]

The regex (?<=\G...) matches an empty string that has the last match (\G) followed by three characters (...) before it ((?<= ))

How to define Singleton in TypeScript

In Typescript, one doesn't necessarily have to follow the new instance() Singleton methodology. An imported, constructor-less static class can work equally as well.

Consider:

export class YourSingleton {

   public static foo:bar;

   public static initialise(_initVars:any):void {
     YourSingleton.foo = _initvars.foo;
   }

   public static doThing():bar {
     return YourSingleton.foo
   }
}

You can import the class and refer to YourSingleton.doThing() in any other class. But remember, because this is a static class, it has no constructor so I usually use an intialise() method that is called from a class that imports the Singleton:

import {YourSingleton} from 'singleton.ts';

YourSingleton.initialise(params);
let _result:bar = YourSingleton.doThing();

Don't forget that in a static class, every method and variable needs to also be static so instead of this you would use the full class name YourSingleton.

Extract file name from path, no matter what the os/path format

Here's a regex-only solution, which seems to work with any OS path on any OS.

No other module is needed, and no preprocessing is needed either :

import re

def extract_basename(path):
  """Extracts basename of a given path. Should Work with any OS Path on any OS"""
  basename = re.search(r'[^\\/]+(?=[\\/]?$)', path)
  if basename:
    return basename.group(0)

paths = ['a/b/c/', 'a/b/c', '\\a\\b\\c', '\\a\\b\\c\\', 'a\\b\\c',
         'a/b/../../a/b/c/', 'a/b/../../a/b/c']

print([extract_basename(path) for path in paths])
# ['c', 'c', 'c', 'c', 'c', 'c', 'c']

extra_paths = ['C:\\', 'alone', '/a/space in filename', 'C:\\multi\nline']

print([extract_basename(path) for path in extra_paths])
# ['C:', 'alone', 'space in filename', 'multi\nline']

Update:

If you only want a potential filename, if present (i.e., /a/b/ is a dir and so is c:\windows\), change the regex to: r'[^\\/]+(?![\\/])$' . For the "regex challenged," this changes the positive forward lookahead for some sort of slash to a negative forward lookahead, causing pathnames that end with said slash to return nothing instead of the last sub-directory in the pathname. Of course there is no guarantee that the potential filename actually refers to a file and for that os.path.is_dir() or os.path.is_file() would need to be employed.

This will match as follows:

/a/b/c/ # nothing, pathname ends with the dir 'c'
c:\windows\ # nothing, pathname ends with the dir 'windows'
c:hello.txt         # matches potential filename 'hello.txt'
~it_s_me/.bashrc # matches potential filename '.bashrc'
c:\windows\system32 # matches potential filename 'system32', except
                    # that is obviously a dir. os.path.is_dir()
                    # should be used to tell us for sure

The regex can be tested here.

How do you clear a stringstream variable?

For all the standard library types the member function empty() is a query, not a command, i.e. it means "are you empty?" not "please throw away your contents".

The clear() member function is inherited from ios and is used to clear the error state of the stream, e.g. if a file stream has the error state set to eofbit (end-of-file), then calling clear() will set the error state back to goodbit (no error).

For clearing the contents of a stringstream, using:

m.str("");

is correct, although using:

m.str(std::string());

is technically more efficient, because you avoid invoking the std::string constructor that takes const char*. But any compiler these days should be able to generate the same code in both cases - so I would just go with whatever is more readable.

Using Mockito's generic "any()" method

Since Java 8 you can use the argument-less any method and the type argument will get inferred by the compiler:

verify(bar).doStuff(any());

Explanation

The new thing in Java 8 is that the target type of an expression will be used to infer type parameters of its sub-expressions. Before Java 8 only arguments to methods where used for type parameter inference (most of the time).

In this case the parameter type of doStuff will be the target type for any(), and the return value type of any() will get chosen to match that argument type.

This mechanism was added in Java 8 mainly to be able to compile lambda expressions, but it improves type inferences generally.

Primitive types

This doesn't work with primitive types, unfortunately:

public interface IBar {
    void doPrimitiveStuff(int i);
}

verify(bar).doPrimitiveStuff(any()); // Compiles but throws NullPointerException
verify(bar).doPrimitiveStuff(anyInt()); // This is what you have to do instead

The problem is that the compiler will infer Integer as the return value type of any(). Mockito will not be aware of this (due to type erasure) and return the default value for reference types, which is null. The runtime will try to unbox the return value by calling the intValue method on it before passing it to doStuff, and the exception gets thrown.

How to create an array of object literals in a loop?

You can do something like that in ES6.

new Array(10).fill().map((e,i) => {
   return {idx: i}
});

How to parse JSON Array (Not Json Object) in Android

In this example there are several objects inside one json array. That is,

This is the json array: [{"name":"name1","url":"url1"},{"name":"name2","url":"url2"},...]

This is one object: {"name":"name1","url":"url1"}

Assuming that you have got the result to a String variable called jSonResultString:

JSONArray arr = new JSONArray(jSonResultString);

  //loop through each object
  for (int i=0; i<arr.length(); i++){

  JSONObject jsonProductObject = arr.getJSONObject(i);
  String name = jsonProductObject.getString("name");
  String url = jsonProductObject.getString("url");

}

Namespace not recognized (even though it is there)

I faced similar problem of namespace/method not being found during execution although it was fine during compilation, and the reason for this appears to be that the assembly I was referencing was deployed to GAC and since then was changed, so when I referenced the assembly in Visual Studion it was using the most recent one, but during runtime the version fro GAC had been used.

phpmailer: Reply using only "Reply To" address

I have found the answer to this, and it is annoyingly/frustratingly simple! Basically the reply to addresses needed to be added before the from address as such:

$mail->addReplyTo('[email protected]', 'Reply to name');
$mail->SetFrom('[email protected]', 'Mailbox name');

Looking at the phpmailer code in more detail this is the offending line:

public function SetFrom($address, $name = '',$auto=1) {
   $address = trim($address);
   $name = trim(preg_replace('/[\r\n]+/', '', $name)); //Strip breaks and trim
   if (!self::ValidateAddress($address)) {
     $this->SetError($this->Lang('invalid_address').': '. $address);
     if ($this->exceptions) {
       throw new phpmailerException($this->Lang('invalid_address').': '.$address);
     }
     echo $this->Lang('invalid_address').': '.$address;
     return false;
   }
   $this->From = $address;
   $this->FromName = $name;
   if ($auto) {
      if (empty($this->ReplyTo)) {
         $this->AddAnAddress('ReplyTo', $address, $name);
      }
      if (empty($this->Sender)) {
         $this->Sender = $address;
      }
   }
   return true;
}

Specifically this line:

if (empty($this->ReplyTo)) {
   $this->AddAnAddress('ReplyTo', $address, $name);
}

Thanks for your help everyone!

Compiler error: "initializer element is not a compile-time constant"

When you define a variable outside the scope of a function, that variable's value is actually written into your executable file. This means you can only use a constant value. Since you don't know everything about the runtime environment at compile time (which classes are available, what is their structure, etc.), you cannot create objective c objects until runtime, with the exception of constant strings, which are given a specific structure and guaranteed to stay that way. What you should do is initialize the variable to nil and use +initialize to create your image. initialize is a class method which will be called before any other method is called on your class.

Example:

NSImage *imageSegment = nil;
+ (void)initialize {
    if(!imageSegment)
        imageSegment = [[NSImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:@"/User/asd.jpg"];
}
- (id)init {
    self = [super init];
    if (self) {
        // Initialization code here.
    }

    return self;
}

Conditional Formatting using Excel VBA code

This will get you to an answer for your simple case, but can you expand on how you'll know which columns will need to be compared (B and C in this case) and what the initial range (A1:D5 in this case) will be? Then I can try to provide a more complete answer.

Sub setCondFormat()
    Range("B3").Select
    With Range("B3:H63")
        .FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:= _
          "=IF($D3="""",FALSE,IF($F3>=$E3,TRUE,FALSE))"
        With .FormatConditions(.FormatConditions.Count)
            .SetFirstPriority
            With .Interior
                .PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
                .Color = 5287936
                .TintAndShade = 0
            End With
        End With
    End With
End Sub

Note: this is tested in Excel 2010.

Better way to find last used row

You should use a with statement to qualify both your Rows and Columns counts. This will prevent any errors while working with older pre 2007 and newer 2007 Excel Workbooks.

    .Cells(1, .Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
End With

Last Row

End With

Or

With Sheets("Sheet2")
    .Cells(.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
End With

Function return value in PowerShell

As a workaround I've been returning the last object in the array that you get back from the function... It is not a great solution, but it's better than nothing:

someFunction {
   $a = "hello"
   "Function is running"
   return $a
}

$b = someFunction
$b = $b[($b.count - 1)]  # Or
$b = $b[-1]              # Simpler

All in all, a more one-lineish way of writing the same thing could be:

$b = (someFunction $someParameter $andAnotherOne)[-1]

You can use http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator to encode any font for websites. It'll generate the code to include the font.

I don't really use it for fonts over 30px. They look much better as an image (because images are anti-aliased, and some browsers don't anti-alias fonts in the browser).

Curl command without using cache

The -H 'Cache-Control: no-cache' argument is not guaranteed to work because the remote server or any proxy layers in between can ignore it. If it doesn't work, you can do it the old-fashioned way, by adding a unique querystring parameter. Usually, the servers/proxies will think it's a unique URL and not use the cache.

curl "http://www.example.com?foo123"

You have to use a different querystring value every time, though. Otherwise, the server/proxies will match the cache again. To automatically generate a different querystring parameter every time, you can use date +%s, which will return the seconds since epoch.

curl "http://www.example.com?$(date +%s)"

Connecting client to server using Socket.io

Have you tried loading the socket.io script not from a relative URL?

You're using:

<script src="socket.io/socket.io.js"></script>

And:

socket.connect('http://127.0.0.1:8080');

You should try:

<script src="http://localhost:8080/socket.io/socket.io.js"></script>

And:

socket.connect('http://localhost:8080');

Switch localhost:8080 with whatever fits your current setup.

Also, depending on your setup, you may have some issues communicating to the server when loading the client page from a different domain (same-origin policy). This can be overcome in different ways (outside of the scope of this answer, google/SO it).

How to find prime numbers between 0 - 100?

  • Why try deleting by 4 (and 6,8,10,12) if we've already tried deleting by 2 ?
    Why try deleting by 9 if we've already tried deleting by 3 ?
    Why try deleting by 11 if 11 * 11 = 121 which is greater than 100 ?
    Why try deleting any odd number by 2 at all?
    Why try deleting any even number above 2 by anything at all?

Eliminate the dead tests and you'll get yourself a good code, testing for primes below 100.

And your code is very far from being the worst code ever. Many many others would try dividing 100 by 99. But the absolute champion would generate all products of 2..96 with 2..96 to test whether 97 is among them. That one really is astonishingly inefficient.

Sieve of Eratosthenes of course is much better, and you can have one -- under 100 -- with no arrays of booleans (and no divisions too!):

console.log(2)
var m3 = 9, m5 = 25, m7 = 49, i = 3
for( ; i < 100; i += 2 )
{
    if( i != m3 && i != m5 && i != m7) console.log(i)
    else
    {
        if( i == m3 ) m3 += 6
        if( i == m5 ) m5 += 10
        if( i == m7 ) m7 += 14
    }
} "DONE"

This is the sieve of Eratosthenes, were we skip over the composites - and that's what this code is doing. The timing of generation of composites and of skipping over them (by checking for equality) is mixed into one timeline. The usual sieve first generates composites and marks them in an array, then sweeps the array. Here the two stages are mashed into one, to avoid having to use any array at all (this only works because we know the top limit's square root - 10 - in advance and use only primes below it, viz. 3,5,7 - with 2's multiples, i.e. evens, implicitly skipped over in advance).

In other words this is an incremental sieve of Eratosthenes and m3, m5, m7 form an implicit priority queue of the multiples of primes 3, 5, and 7.

How do I access Configuration in any class in ASP.NET Core?

I looked into the options pattern sample and saw this:

public class Startup
{
    public Startup(IConfiguration config)
    {
        // Configuration from appsettings.json has already been loaded by
        // CreateDefaultBuilder on WebHost in Program.cs. Use DI to load
        // the configuration into the Configuration property.
        Configuration = config;
    }
...
}

When adding Iconfiguration in the constructor of my class, I could access the configuration options through DI.

Example:

public class MyClass{

    private Iconfiguration _config;

    public MyClass(Iconfiguration config){
        _config = config;
    }

    ... // access _config["myAppSetting"] anywhere in this class
}

Most efficient way to append arrays in C#?

If you can make an approximation of the number of items that will be there at the end, use the overload of the List constuctor that takes count as a parameter. You will save some expensive List duplications. Otherwise you have to pay for it.

How to determine the number of days in a month in SQL Server?

You need to create a function, but it is for your own convenience. It works perfect and I never encountered any faulty computations using this function.

CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[get_days](@date datetime)
RETURNS int
AS
BEGIN
    SET @date = DATEADD(MONTH, 1, @date)
    DECLARE @result int = (select DAY(DATEADD(DAY, -DAY(@date), @date)))
    RETURN @result
END

How it works: subtracting the date's day number from the date itself gives you the last day of previous month. So, you need to add one month to the given date, subtract the day number and get the day component of the result.

Passing data between view controllers

Swift 5

Well Matt Price's answer is perfectly fine for passing data, but I am going to rewrite it, in the latest Swift version because I believe new programmers find it quit challenging due to new syntax and methods/frameworks, as original post is in Objective-C.

There are multiple options for passing data between view controllers.

  1. Using Navigation Controller Push
  2. Using Segue
  3. Using Delegate
  4. Using Notification Observer
  5. Using Block

I am going to rewrite his logic in Swift with the latest iOS framework

Passing Data through Navigation Controller Push: From ViewControllerA to ViewControllerB

Step 1. Declare variable in ViewControllerB

var isSomethingEnabled = false

Step 2. Print Variable in ViewControllerB' ViewDidLoad method

override func viewDidLoad() {
    super.viewDidLoad()
    // Print value received through segue, navigation push
    print("Value of 'isSomethingEnabled' from ViewControllerA: ", isSomethingEnabled)
}

Step 3. In ViewControllerA Pass Data while pushing through Navigation Controller

if let viewControllerB = UIStoryboard(name: "Main", bundle: nil).instantiateViewController(withIdentifier: "ViewControllerB") as? ViewControllerB {
    viewControllerB.isSomethingEnabled = true
    if let navigator = navigationController {
        navigator.pushViewController(viewControllerB, animated: true)
    }
}

So here is the complete code for:

ViewControllerA

import UIKit

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController  {

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
    }

    // MARK: Passing data through navigation PushViewController
    @IBAction func goToViewControllerB(_ sender: Any) {

        if let viewControllerB = UIStoryboard(name: "Main", bundle: nil).instantiateViewController(withIdentifier: "ViewControllerB") as? ViewControllerB {
            viewControllerB.isSomethingEnabled = true
            if let navigator = navigationController {
                navigator.pushViewController(viewControllerB, animated: true)
            }
        }
    }
}

ViewControllerB

import UIKit

class ViewControllerB: UIViewController {

    // MARK: - Variable for Passing Data through Navigation push
    var isSomethingEnabled = false

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
        // Print value received through navigation push
        print("Value of 'isSomethingEnabled' from ViewControllerA: ", isSomethingEnabled)
    }
}

Passing Data through Segue: From ViewControllerA to ViewControllerB

Step 1. Create Segue from ViewControllerA to ViewControllerB and give Identifier = showDetailSegue in Storyboard as shown below

enter image description here

Step 2. In ViewControllerB Declare a viable named isSomethingEnabled and print its value.

Step 3. In ViewControllerA pass isSomethingEnabled's value while passing Segue

So here is the complete code for:

ViewControllerA

import UIKit

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController  {

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
    }

    // MARK:  - - Passing Data through Segue  - -
    @IBAction func goToViewControllerBUsingSegue(_ sender: Any) {
        performSegue(withIdentifier: "showDetailSegue", sender: nil)
    }

    // Segue Delegate Method
    override func prepare(for segue: UIStoryboardSegue, sender: Any?) {
        if (segue.identifier == "showDetailSegue") {
            let controller = segue.destination as? ViewControllerB
            controller?.isSomethingEnabled = true//passing data
        }
    }
}

ViewControllerB

import UIKit

class ViewControllerB: UIViewController {
    var isSomethingEnabled = false

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
        // Print value received through segue
        print("Value of 'isSomethingEnabled' from ViewControllerA: ", isSomethingEnabled)
    }
}

Passing Data through Delegate: From ViewControllerB to ViewControllerA

Step 1. Declare Protocol ViewControllerBDelegate in the ViewControllerB file, but outside the class

protocol ViewControllerBDelegate: NSObjectProtocol {

    // Classes that adopt this protocol MUST define
    // this method -- and hopefully do something in
    // that definition.
    func addItemViewController(_ controller: ViewControllerB?, didFinishEnteringItem item: String?)
}

Step 2. Declare Delegate variable instance in ViewControllerB

var delegate: ViewControllerBDelegate?

Step 3. Send data for delegate inside viewDidLoad method of ViewControllerB

delegate?.addItemViewController(self, didFinishEnteringItem: "Data for ViewControllerA")

Step 4. Confirm ViewControllerBDelegate in ViewControllerA

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController, ViewControllerBDelegate  {
// to do
}

Step 5. Confirm that you will implement a delegate in ViewControllerA

if let viewControllerB = UIStoryboard(name: "Main", bundle: nil).instantiateViewController(withIdentifier: "ViewControllerB") as? ViewControllerB {
    viewControllerB.delegate = self//confirming delegate
    if let navigator = navigationController {
        navigator.pushViewController(viewControllerB, animated: true)
    }
}

Step 6. Implement delegate method for receiving data in ViewControllerA

func addItemViewController(_ controller: ViewControllerB?, didFinishEnteringItem item: String?) {
    print("Value from ViewControllerB's Delegate", item!)
}

So here is the complete code for:

ViewControllerA

import UIKit

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController, ViewControllerBDelegate  {

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
    }

    // Delegate method
    func addItemViewController(_ controller: ViewControllerB?, didFinishEnteringItem item: String?) {
        print("Value from ViewControllerB's Delegate", item!)
    }

    @IBAction func goToViewControllerForDelegate(_ sender: Any) {

        if let viewControllerB = UIStoryboard(name: "Main", bundle: nil).instantiateViewController(withIdentifier: "ViewControllerB") as? ViewControllerB {
            viewControllerB.delegate = self
            if let navigator = navigationController {
                navigator.pushViewController(viewControllerB, animated: true)
            }
        }
    }
}

ViewControllerB

import UIKit

//Protocol decleare
protocol ViewControllerBDelegate: NSObjectProtocol {
    // Classes that adopt this protocol MUST define
    // this method -- and hopefully do something in
    // that definition.
    func addItemViewController(_ controller: ViewControllerB?, didFinishEnteringItem item: String?)
}

class ViewControllerB: UIViewController {
    var delegate: ViewControllerBDelegate?

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
        // MARK:  - - - -  Set Data for Passing Data through Delegate  - - - - - -
        delegate?.addItemViewController(self, didFinishEnteringItem: "Data for ViewControllerA")
    }
}

Passing Data through Notification Observer: From ViewControllerB to ViewControllerA

Step 1. Set and post data in the notification observer in ViewControllerB

let objToBeSent = "Test Message from Notification"
        NotificationCenter.default.post(name: Notification.Name("NotificationIdentifier"), object: objToBeSent)

Step 2. Add Notification Observer in ViewControllerA

NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(self.methodOfReceivedNotification(notification:)), name: Notification.Name("NotificationIdentifier"), object: nil)

Step 3. Receive Notification data value in ViewControllerA

@objc func methodOfReceivedNotification(notification: Notification) {
    print("Value of notification: ", notification.object ?? "")
}

So here is the complete code for:

ViewControllerA

import UIKit

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController{

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()

        // Add observer in controller(s) where you want to receive data
        NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(self.methodOfReceivedNotification(notification:)), name: Notification.Name("NotificationIdentifier"), object: nil)
    }

    // MARK: Method for receiving Data through Post Notification
    @objc func methodOfReceivedNotification(notification: Notification) {
        print("Value of notification: ", notification.object ?? "")
    }
}

ViewControllerB

import UIKit

class ViewControllerB: UIViewController {

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()

        // MARK:Set data for Passing Data through Post Notification
        let objToBeSent = "Test Message from Notification"
        NotificationCenter.default.post(name: Notification.Name("NotificationIdentifier"), object: objToBeSent)
    }
}

Passing Data through Block: From ViewControllerB to ViewControllerA

Step 1. Declare block in ViewControllerB

var authorizationCompletionBlock:((Bool)->())? = {_ in}

Step 2. Set data in block in ViewControllerB

if authorizationCompletionBlock != nil
{
    authorizationCompletionBlock!(true)
}

Step 3. Receive block data in ViewControllerA

// Receiver Block
controller!.authorizationCompletionBlock = { isGranted in
    print("Data received from Block is: ", isGranted)
}

So here is the complete code for:

ViewControllerA

import UIKit

class ViewControllerA: UIViewController  {

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
    }

    // MARK:Method for receiving Data through Block
    override func prepare(for segue: UIStoryboardSegue, sender: Any?) {
        if (segue.identifier == "showDetailSegue") {
            let controller = segue.destination as? ViewControllerB
            controller?.isSomethingEnabled = true

            // Receiver Block
            controller!.authorizationCompletionBlock = { isGranted in
                print("Data received from Block is: ", isGranted)
            }
        }
    }
}

ViewControllerB

import UIKit

class ViewControllerB: UIViewController {

    // MARK: Variable for Passing Data through Block
    var authorizationCompletionBlock:((Bool)->())? = {_ in}

    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()

        // MARK: Set data for Passing Data through Block
        if authorizationCompletionBlock != nil
        {
            authorizationCompletionBlock!(true)
        }
    }
}

The 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header contains multiple values

I too had both OWIN as well as my WebAPI that both apparently needed CORS enabled separately which in turn created the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header contains multiple values error.

I ended up removing ALL code that enabled CORS and then added the following to the system.webServer node of my Web.Config:

<httpProtocol>
  <customHeaders>
    <add name="Access-Control-Allow-Origin" value="https://stethio.azurewebsites.net" />
    <add name="Access-Control-Allow-Methods" value="GET, POST, OPTIONS, PUT, DELETE" />
    <add name="Access-Control-Allow-Headers" value="Origin, X-Requested-With, Content-Type, Accept, Authorization" />
  </customHeaders>
</httpProtocol>

Doing this satisfied CORS requirements for OWIN (allowing log in) and for WebAPI (allowing API calls), but it created a new problem: an OPTIONS method could not be found during preflight for my API calls. The fix for that was simple--I just needed to remove the following from the handlers node my Web.Config:

<remove name="OPTIONSVerbHandler" />

Hope this helps someone.

How to create a simple proxy in C#?

I wouldn't use HttpListener or something like that, in that way you'll come across so many issues.

Most importantly it'll be a huge pain to support:

  • Proxy Keep-Alives
  • SSL won't work (in a correct way, you'll get popups)
  • .NET libraries strictly follows RFCs which causes some requests to fail (even though IE, FF and any other browser in the world will work.)

What you need to do is:

  • Listen a TCP port
  • Parse the browser request
  • Extract Host connect to that host in TCP level
  • Forward everything back and forth unless you want to add custom headers etc.

I wrote 2 different HTTP proxies in .NET with different requirements and I can tell you that this is the best way to do it.

Mentalis doing this, but their code is "delegate spaghetti", worse than GoTo :)

Get specific line from text file using just shell script

line=5; prep=`grep -ne ^ file.txt | grep -e ^$line:`; echo "${prep#$line:}"

Comparing two maps

As long as you override equals() on each key and value contained in the map, then m1.equals(m2) should be reliable to check for maps equality.

The same result can be obtained also by comparing toString() of each map as you suggested, but using equals() is a more intuitive approach.

May not be your specific situation, but if you store arrays in the map, may be a little tricky, because they must be compared value by value, or using Arrays.equals(). More details about this see here.

Calculate logarithm in python

From the documentation:

With one argument, return the natural logarithm of x (to base e).

With two arguments, return the logarithm of x to the given base, calculated as log(x)/log(base).

But the log10 is made available as math.log10(), which does not resort to log division if possible.

DateTime.Compare how to check if a date is less than 30 days old?

Compare returns 1, 0, -1 for greater than, equal to, less than, respectively.

You want:

    if (DateTime.Compare(expiryDate, DateTime.Now.AddDays(30)) <= 0)
    {
        bool matchFound = true;
    }

How to make sure that a certain Port is not occupied by any other process

You can use "netstat" to check whether a port is available or not.

Use the netstat -anp | find "port number" command to find whether a port is occupied by an another process or not. If it is occupied by an another process, it will show the process id of that process.

You have to put : before port number to get the actual output

Ex netstat -anp | find ":8080"

What's the difference between using "let" and "var"?

What's the difference between let and var?

  • A variable defined using a var statement is known throughout the function it is defined in, from the start of the function. (*)
  • A variable defined using a let statement is only known in the block it is defined in, from the moment it is defined onward. (**)

To understand the difference, consider the following code:

// i IS NOT known here
// j IS NOT known here
// k IS known here, but undefined
// l IS NOT known here

function loop(arr) {
    // i IS known here, but undefined
    // j IS NOT known here
    // k IS known here, but has a value only the second time loop is called
    // l IS NOT known here

    for( var i = 0; i < arr.length; i++ ) {
        // i IS known here, and has a value
        // j IS NOT known here
        // k IS known here, but has a value only the second time loop is called
        // l IS NOT known here
    };

    // i IS known here, and has a value
    // j IS NOT known here
    // k IS known here, but has a value only the second time loop is called
    // l IS NOT known here

    for( let j = 0; j < arr.length; j++ ) {
        // i IS known here, and has a value
        // j IS known here, and has a value
        // k IS known here, but has a value only the second time loop is called
        // l IS NOT known here
    };

    // i IS known here, and has a value
    // j IS NOT known here
    // k IS known here, but has a value only the second time loop is called
    // l IS NOT known here
}

loop([1,2,3,4]);

for( var k = 0; k < arr.length; k++ ) {
    // i IS NOT known here
    // j IS NOT known here
    // k IS known here, and has a value
    // l IS NOT known here
};

for( let l = 0; l < arr.length; l++ ) {
    // i IS NOT known here
    // j IS NOT known here
    // k IS known here, and has a value
    // l IS known here, and has a value
};

loop([1,2,3,4]);

// i IS NOT known here
// j IS NOT known here
// k IS known here, and has a value
// l IS NOT known here

Here, we can see that our variable j is only known in the first for loop, but not before and after. Yet, our variable i is known in the entire function.

Also, consider that block scoped variables are not known before they are declared because they are not hoisted. You're also not allowed to redeclare the same block scoped variable within the same block. This makes block scoped variables less error prone than globally or functionally scoped variables, which are hoisted and which do not produce any errors in case of multiple declarations.

Is it safe to use let today?

Some people would argue that in the future we'll ONLY use let statements and that var statements will become obsolete. JavaScript guru Kyle Simpson wrote a very elaborate article on why he believes that won't be the case.

Today, however, that is definitely not the case. In fact, we need actually to ask ourselves whether it's safe to use the let statement. The answer to that question depends on your environment:

  • If you're writing server-side JavaScript code (Node.js), you can safely use the let statement.

  • If you're writing client-side JavaScript code and use a browser based transpiler (like Traceur or babel-standalone), you can safely use the let statement, however your code is likely to be anything but optimal with respect to performance.

  • If you're writing client-side JavaScript code and use a Node based transpiler (like the traceur shell script or Babel), you can safely use the let statement. And because your browser will only know about the transpiled code, performance drawbacks should be limited.

  • If you're writing client-side JavaScript code and don't use a transpiler, you need to consider browser support.

    There are still some browsers that don't support let at all :

enter image description here

How to keep track of browser support

For an up-to-date overview of which browsers support the let statement at the time of your reading this answer, see this Can I Use page.

(*) Globally and functionally scoped variables can be initialized and used before they are declared because JavaScript variables are hoisted. This means that declarations are always much to the top of the scope.

(**) Block scoped variables are not hoisted

insert  Bookings(TicketsMax, TicketsBooked) select 1, 0
insert  Bookings(TicketsMax, TicketsBooked) select 2, 2
insert  Bookings(TicketsMax, TicketsBooked) select 3, 1

How to decrypt hash stored by bcrypt

To answer the original posters question.... to 'decrypt' the password, you have to do what a password cracker would do.

In other words, you'd run a program to read from a large list of potential passwords (a password dictionary) and you'd hash each one using bcrypt and the salt and complexity from the password you're trying to decipher. If you're lucky you'll find a match, but if the password is a strong one then you likely won't find a match.

Bcrypt has the added security characteristic of being a slow hash. If your password had been hashed with md5 (terrible choice) then you'd be able to check billions of passwords per second, but since it's hashed using bcrypt you will be able to check far fewer per second.

The fact that bcrypt is slow to hash and salted is what makes it a good choice for password storage even today. That being said I believe NIST recommends the PBKDF2 for password hashing.

Cannot find libcrypto in Ubuntu

I solved this on 12.10 by installing libssl-dev.

sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

BAT file to map to network drive without running as admin

Save below in a test.bat and It'll work for you:

@echo off

net use Z: \\server\SharedFolderName password /user:domain\Username /persistent:yes

/persistent:yes flag will tell the computer to automatically reconnect this share on logon. Otherwise, you need to run the script again during each boot to map the drive.

For Example:

net use Z: \\WindowsServer123\g$ P@ssw0rd /user:Mynetdomain\Sysadmin /persistent:yes

What is trunk, branch and tag in Subversion?

A trunk is considered your main code base, a branch offshoot of the trunk. Like, you create a branch if you want to implement a new feature, but don't want to affect the main trunk.

TortoiseSVN has good documentation, and a great diff tool.

I use Visual studio, and I use VisualSVN and TortoiseSVN.

Python Set Comprehension

You can generate pairs like this:

{(x, x + 2) for x in r if x + 2 in r}

Then all that is left to do is to get a condition to make them prime, which you have already done in the first example.

A different way of doing it: (Although slower for large sets of primes)

{(x, y) for x in r for y in r if x + 2 == y}

Handle Guzzle exception and get HTTP body

None of the above responses are working for error that has no body but still has some describing text. For me, it was SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate error. So I looked right into the code, because doc does't really say much, and did this (in Guzzle 7.1):

try {
    // call here
} catch (\GuzzleHttp\Exception\RequestException $e) {
    if ($e->hasResponse()) {
        $response = $e->getResponse();
        // message is in $response->getReasonPhrase()
    } else {
        $response = $e->getHandlerContext();
        if (isset($response['error'])) {
            // message is in $response['error']
        } else {
            // Unknown error occured!
        }
    }
}

There can be only one auto column

My MySQL says "Incorrect table definition; there can be only one auto column and it must be defined as a key" So when I added primary key as below it started working:

CREATE TABLE book (
   id INT AUTO_INCREMENT NOT NULL,
   accepted_terms BIT(1) NOT NULL,
   accepted_privacy BIT(1) NOT NULL,
   primary key (id)
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

How do I download a tarball from GitHub using cURL?

The modernized way of doing this is:

curl -sL https://github.com/user-or-org/repo/archive/sha1-or-ref.tar.gz | tar xz

Replace user-or-org, repo, and sha1-or-ref accordingly.

If you want a zip file instead of a tarball, specify .zip instead of .tar.gz suffix.

You can also retrieve the archive of a private repo, by specifying -u token:x-oauth-basic option to curl. Replace token with a personal access token.

Adding elements to a collection during iteration

How about building a Queue with the elements you want to iterate over; when you want to add elements, enqueue them at the end of the queue, and keep removing elements until the queue is empty. This is how a breadth-first search usually works.

Form Submit jQuery does not work

The NUMBER ONE error is having ANYTHING with the reserved word submit as ID or NAME in your form.

If you plan to call .submit() on the form AND the form has submit as id or name on any form element, then you need to rename that form element, since the form’s submit method/handler is shadowed by the name/id attribute.

Several other things:

As mentioned, you need to submit the form using a simpler event than the jQuery one

BUT you also need to cancel the clicks on the links

Why, by the way, do you have two buttons? Since you use jQuery to submit the form, you will never know which of the two buttons were clicked unless you set a hidden field on click.

<form action="deletprofil.php" id="form_id" method="post">
  <div data-role="controlgroup" data-filter="true" data-input="#filterControlgroup-input">
  <button type="submit" value="1" class="ui-btn ui-shadow ui-corner-all ui-icon-delete ui-btn-icon-right" data-icon="delete" aria-disabled="false">Anlegen</button>
  <button type="submit" value="2" class="ui-btn ui-shadow ui-corner-all ui-icon-delete ui-btn-icon-right" data-icon="delete" aria-disabled="false">Bnlegen</button>
  </div>
</form>

 $(function(){
    $("#NOlink, #OKlink").on("click", function(e) {
        e.preventDefault(); // cancel default action
        $("#popupDialog").popup('close');
        if (this.id=="OKlink") {
          document.getElementById("form_id").submit(); // or $("#form_id")[0].submit();
        }
    });

    $('#form_id').on('submit', function(e){
      e.preventDefault();
      $("#popupDialog").popup('open');
    });
});

Judging from your comments, I think you really want to do this:

<form action="deletprofil.php" id="form_id" method="post">
  <input type="hidden" id="whichdelete" name="whichdelete" value="" />
  <div data-role="controlgroup" data-filter="true" data-input="#filterControlgroup-input">
  <button type="button" value="1" class="delete ui-btn ui-shadow ui-corner-all ui-icon-delete ui-btn-icon-right" data-icon="delete" aria-disabled="false">Anlegen</button>
  <button type="button" value="2" class="delete ui-btn ui-shadow ui-corner-all ui-icon-delete ui-btn-icon-right" data-icon="delete" aria-disabled="false">Bnlegen</button>
  </div>
</form>

 $(function(){
    $("#NOlink, #OKlink").on("click", function(e) {
        e.preventDefault(); // cancel default action
        $("#popupDialog").popup('close');
        if (this.id=="OKlink") {
          // trigger the submit event, not the event handler
          document.getElementById("form_id").submit(); // or $("#form_id")[0].submit();
        }
    });
    $(".delete").on("click", function(e) {
        $("#whichdelete").val(this.value);
    });
    $('#form_id').on('submit', function(e){
      e.preventDefault();
      $("#popupDialog").popup('open');
    });
});

Does Spring @Transactional attribute work on a private method?

The Question is not private or public, the question is: How is it invoked and which AOP implementation you use!

If you use (default) Spring Proxy AOP, then all AOP functionality provided by Spring (like @Transactional) will only be taken into account if the call goes through the proxy. -- This is normally the case if the annotated method is invoked from another bean.

This has two implications:

  • Because private methods must not be invoked from another bean (the exception is reflection), their @Transactional Annotation is not taken into account.
  • If the method is public, but it is invoked from the same bean, it will not be taken into account either (this statement is only correct if (default) Spring Proxy AOP is used).

@See Spring Reference: Chapter 9.6 9.6 Proxying mechanisms

IMHO you should use the aspectJ mode, instead of the Spring Proxies, that will overcome the problem. And the AspectJ Transactional Aspects are woven even into private methods (checked for Spring 3.0).

How can I reorder a list?

You can provide your own sort function to list.sort():

The sort() method takes optional arguments for controlling the comparisons.

  • cmp specifies a custom comparison function of two arguments (list items) which should return a negative, zero or positive number depending on whether the first argument is considered smaller than, equal to, or larger than the second argument: cmp=lambda x,y: cmp(x.lower(), y.lower()). The default value is None.

  • key specifies a function of one argument that is used to extract a comparison key from each list element: key=str.lower. The default value is None.

  • reverse is a boolean value. If set to True, then the list elements are sorted as if each comparison were reversed.

In general, the key and reverse conversion processes are much faster than specifying an equivalent cmp function. This is because cmp is called multiple times for each list element while key and reverse touch each element only once.

How to convert FormData (HTML5 object) to JSON

If the following items meet your needs, you're in luck:

  1. You want to convert an array of arrays like [['key','value1'], ['key2','value2'] (like what FormData gives you) into a key->value object like {key1: 'value1', key2: 'value2'} and the convert it to a JSON string.
  2. You are targeting browsers/devices with the latest ES6 interpreter or are compiling with something like babel.
  3. You want the tiniest way to accomplish this.

Here is the code you'll need:

const data = new FormData(document.querySelector('form'));
const json = JSON.stringify(Array.from(data).reduce((o,[k,v])=>(o[k]=v,o),{}));

Hope this helps someone.

Accessing the last entry in a Map

In such scenario last used key is usually known so it can be used for accessing last value (inserted with the one):

class PostIndexData {
    String _office_name;
    Boolean _isGov;
    public PostIndexData(String name, Boolean gov) {
        _office_name = name;
        _isGov = gov;
    }
}
//-----------------------
class KgpData {
    String _postIndex;
    PostIndexData _postIndexData;
    public KgpData(String postIndex, PostIndexData postIndexData) {
        _postIndex = postIndex;
        _postIndexData = postIndexData;;
    }
}

public class Office2ASMPro {
    private HashMap<String,PostIndexData> _postIndexMap = new HashMap<>();
    private HashMap<String,KgpData> _kgpMap = new HashMap<>();
...
private void addOffice(String kgp, String postIndex, String officeName, Boolean gov) {
            if (_postIndexMap.get(postIndex) == null) {
                _postIndexMap.put(postIndex, new PostIndexData(officeName, gov));
            }
            _kgpMap.put( kgp, new KgpData(postIndex, _postIndexMap.get(postIndex)) );
        }

MySQL SELECT DISTINCT multiple columns

) AS derived

Scripting Language vs Programming Language

If we see logically programming language and scripting language so this is 99.09% same . because we use same concept like loop , control condition ,variable and all so we can say yes both are same but there is only one thing is different between them that is in C/C++ and other programming language we compile the code before execution . but in the PHP , JavaScript and other scripting language we don't need to compile we directly execute in the browser.

Switch case: can I use a range instead of a one number

If you use C/C++, there's no "range" syntax. You can only list all values after each "case" segment. Language Ada or Pascal support range syntax.

JavaScript and getElementById for multiple elements with the same ID

If you're using d3 for handling multiple objects with the same class / id

You can remove a subset of class elements by using d3.selectAll(".classname");

For example the donut graph here on http://medcorp.co.nz utilizes copies of an arc object with class name "arc" and there's a single line of d3, d3.selectAll(".arc").remove(); to remove all those objects;

using document.getElementById("arc").remove(); only removes a single element and would have to be called multiple times (as is with the suggestions above he creates a loop to remove the objects n times)

Google Maps Api v3 - find nearest markers

I'd like to expand on Leor's suggestion for anyone confused on how to compute the nearest location and actually provide a working solution:

I'm using markers in a markers array e.g. var markers = [];.

Then let's have our position as something like var location = new google.maps.LatLng(51.99, -0.74);

Then we simply reduce our markers against the location we have like so:

markers.reduce(function (prev, curr) {

    var cpos = google.maps.geometry.spherical.computeDistanceBetween(location.position, curr.position);
    var ppos = google.maps.geometry.spherical.computeDistanceBetween(location.position, prev.position);

    return cpos < ppos ? curr : prev;

}).position

What pops out is your closest marker LatLng object.

PHP convert XML to JSON

Sorry for answering an old post, but this article outlines an approach that is relatively short, concise and easy to maintain. I tested it myself and works pretty well.

http://lostechies.com/seanbiefeld/2011/10/21/simple-xml-to-json-with-php/

<?php
class XmlToJson {
    public function Parse ($url) {
        $fileContents= file_get_contents($url);
        $fileContents = str_replace(array("\n", "\r", "\t"), '', $fileContents);
        $fileContents = trim(str_replace('"', "'", $fileContents));
        $simpleXml = simplexml_load_string($fileContents);
        $json = json_encode($simpleXml);

        return $json;
    }
}
?>

Specifying and saving a figure with exact size in pixels

Matplotlib doesn't work with pixels directly, but rather physical sizes and DPI. If you want to display a figure with a certain pixel size, you need to know the DPI of your monitor. For example this link will detect that for you.

If you have an image of 3841x7195 pixels it is unlikely that you monitor will be that large, so you won't be able to show a figure of that size (matplotlib requires the figure to fit in the screen, if you ask for a size too large it will shrink to the screen size). Let's imagine you want an 800x800 pixel image just for an example. Here's how to show an 800x800 pixel image in my monitor (my_dpi=96):

plt.figure(figsize=(800/my_dpi, 800/my_dpi), dpi=my_dpi)

So you basically just divide the dimensions in inches by your DPI.

If you want to save a figure of a specific size, then it is a different matter. Screen DPIs are not so important anymore (unless you ask for a figure that won't fit in the screen). Using the same example of the 800x800 pixel figure, we can save it in different resolutions using the dpi keyword of savefig. To save it in the same resolution as the screen just use the same dpi:

plt.savefig('my_fig.png', dpi=my_dpi)

To to save it as an 8000x8000 pixel image, use a dpi 10 times larger:

plt.savefig('my_fig.png', dpi=my_dpi * 10)

Note that the setting of the DPI is not supported by all backends. Here, the PNG backend is used, but the pdf and ps backends will implement the size differently. Also, changing the DPI and sizes will also affect things like fontsize. A larger DPI will keep the same relative sizes of fonts and elements, but if you want smaller fonts for a larger figure you need to increase the physical size instead of the DPI.

Getting back to your example, if you want to save a image with 3841 x 7195 pixels, you could do the following:

plt.figure(figsize=(3.841, 7.195), dpi=100)
( your code ...)
plt.savefig('myfig.png', dpi=1000)

Note that I used the figure dpi of 100 to fit in most screens, but saved with dpi=1000 to achieve the required resolution. In my system this produces a png with 3840x7190 pixels -- it seems that the DPI saved is always 0.02 pixels/inch smaller than the selected value, which will have a (small) effect on large image sizes. Some more discussion of this here.

How can I print each command before executing?

set -x is fine, but if you do something like:

set -x;
command;
set +x;

it would result in printing

+ command
+ set +x;

You can use a subshell to prevent that such as:

(set -x; command)

which would just print the command.

Deserialize json object into dynamic object using Json.net

I know this is old post but JsonConvert actually has a different method so it would be

Execute script after specific delay using JavaScript

If you only need to test a delay you can use this:

function delay(ms) {
   ms += new Date().getTime();
   while (new Date() < ms){}
}

And then if you want to delay for 2 second you do:

delay(2000);

Might not be the best for production though. More on that in the comments

What is the difference between a static method and a non-static method?

Another scenario for Static method.

Yes, Static method is of the class not of the object. And when you don't want anyone to initialize the object of the class or you don't want more than one object, you need to use Private constructor and so the static method.

Here, we have private constructor and using static method we are creating a object.

Ex::

public class Demo {

        private static Demo obj = null;
        private Demo() {
        }

        public static Demo createObj() {

            if(obj == null) {
               obj = new Demo();
            }
            return obj;
        }
}

Demo obj1 = Demo.createObj();

Here, Only 1 instance will be alive at a time.

How to check if a function exists on a SQL database

I know this thread is old but I just wanted to add this answer for those who believe it's safer to Alter than Drop and Create. The below will Alter the Function if it exists or Create it if doesn't:

  IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT *
               FROM   sys.objects
               WHERE  object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[foo]')
                      AND type IN ( N'FN', N'IF', N'TF', N'FS', N'FT' ))
       EXEC('CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[foo]() RETURNS INT AS BEGIN RETURN 0 END')
  GO
  ALTER FUNCTION [dbo].[foo]
  AS
  ...

Detecting when the 'back' button is pressed on a navbar

UPDATE: According to some comments, the solution in the original answer does not seem to work under certain scenarios in iOS 8+. I can't verify that that is actually the case without further details.

For those of you however in that situation there's an alternative. Detecting when a view controller is being popped is possible by overriding willMove(toParentViewController:). The basic idea is that a view controller is being popped when parent is nil.

Check out "Implementing a Container View Controller" for further details.

Since iOS 5 I've found that the easiest way of dealing with this situation is using the new method - (BOOL)isMovingFromParentViewController:

- (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated {
  [super viewWillDisappear:animated];

  if (self.isMovingFromParentViewController) {
    // Do your stuff here
  }
}

- (BOOL)isMovingFromParentViewController makes sense when you are pushing and popping controllers in a navigation stack.

However, if you are presenting modal view controllers you should use - (BOOL)isBeingDismissed instead:

- (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated {
  [super viewWillDisappear:animated];

  if (self.isBeingDismissed) {
    // Do your stuff here
  }
}

As noted in this question, you could combine both properties:

- (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated {
  [super viewWillDisappear:animated];

  if (self.isMovingFromParentViewController || self.isBeingDismissed) {
    // Do your stuff here
  }
}

Other solutions rely on the existence of a UINavigationBar. Instead like my approach more because it decouples the required tasks to perform from the action that triggered the event, i.e. pressing a back button.

What does git push -u mean?

This is no longer up-to-date!

Push.default is unset; its implicit value has changed in
Git 2.0 from 'matching' to 'simple'. To squelch this message
and maintain the traditional behavior, use:

  git config --global push.default matching

To squelch this message and adopt the new behavior now, use:

  git config --global push.default simple

When push.default is set to 'matching', git will push local branches
to the remote branches that already exist with the same name.

Since Git 2.0, Git defaults to the more conservative 'simple'
behavior, which only pushes the current branch to the corresponding
remote branch that 'git pull' uses to update the current branch.

window.location.href and window.open () methods in JavaScript

window.location.href is not a method, it's a property that will tell you the current URL location of the browser. Changing the value of the property will redirect the page.

window.open() is a method that you can pass a URL to that you want to open in a new window. For example:

window.location.href example:

window.location.href = 'http://www.google.com'; //Will take you to Google.

window.open() example:

window.open('http://www.google.com'); //This will open Google in a new window.

Additional Information:

window.open() can be passed additional parameters. See: window.open tutorial

How to verify static void method has been called with power mockito

Thou the above answer is widely accepted and well documented, I found some of the reason to post my answer here :-

    doNothing().when(InternalUtils.class); //This is the preferred way
                                           //to mock static void methods.
    InternalUtils.sendEmail(anyString(), anyString(), anyString(), anyString());

Here, I dont understand why we are calling InternalUtils.sendEmail ourself. I will explain in my code why we don't need to do that.

mockStatic(Internalutils.class);

So, we have mocked the class which is fine. Now, lets have a look how we need to verify the sendEmail(/..../) method.

@PrepareForTest({InternalService.InternalUtils.class})
@RunWith(PowerMockRunner.class)
public class InternalServiceTest {

    @Mock
    private InternalService.Order order;

    private InternalService internalService;

    @Before
    public void setup() {
        MockitoAnnotations.initMocks(this);
        internalService = new InternalService();
    }

    @Test
    public void processOrder() throws Exception {

        Mockito.when(order.isSuccessful()).thenReturn(true);
        PowerMockito.mockStatic(InternalService.InternalUtils.class);

        internalService.processOrder(order);

        PowerMockito.verifyStatic(times(1));
        InternalService.InternalUtils.sendEmail(anyString(), any(String[].class), anyString(), anyString());
    }

}

These two lines is where the magic is, First line tells the PowerMockito framework that it needs to verify the class it statically mocked. But which method it need to verify ?? Second line tells which method it needs to verify.

PowerMockito.verifyStatic(times(1));
InternalService.InternalUtils.sendEmail(anyString(), any(String[].class), anyString(), anyString());

This is code of my class, sendEmail api twice.

public class InternalService {

    public void processOrder(Order order) {
        if (order.isSuccessful()) {
            InternalUtils.sendEmail("", new String[1], "", "");
            InternalUtils.sendEmail("", new String[1], "", "");
        }
    }

    public static class InternalUtils{

        public static void sendEmail(String from, String[]  to, String msg, String body){

        }

    }

    public class Order{

        public boolean isSuccessful(){
            return true;
        }

    }

}

As it is calling twice you just need to change the verify(times(2))... that's all.

How do I evenly add space between a label and the input field regardless of length of text?

You can also used below code

<html>
<head>
    <style>
        .labelClass{
            float: left;
            width: 113px;
        }
    </style>
</head>
<body>
  <form action="yourclassName.jsp">
    <span class="labelClass">First name: </span><input type="text" name="fname"><br>

c# - approach for saving user settings in a WPF application?

In my experience storing all the settings in a database table is the best solution. Don't even worry about performance. Today's databases are fast and can easily store thousands columns in a table. I learned this the hard way - before I was serilizing/deserializing - nightmare. Storing it in local file or registry has one big problem - if you have to support your app and computer is off - user is not in front of it - there is nothing you can do.... if setings are in DB - you can changed them and viola not to mention that you can compare the settings....

Web Reference vs. Service Reference

Add Web Reference is the old-style, deprecated ASP.NET webservices (ASMX) technology (using only the XmlSerializer for your stuff) - if you do this, you get an ASMX client for an ASMX web service. You can do this in just about any project (Web App, Web Site, Console App, Winforms - you name it).

Add Service Reference is the new way of doing it, adding a WCF service reference, which gives you a much more advanced, much more flexible service model than just plain old ASMX stuff.

Since you're not ready to move to WCF, you can also still add the old-style web reference, if you really must: when you do a "Add Service Reference", on the dialog that comes up, click on the [Advanced] button in the button left corner:

alt text

and on the next dialog that comes up, pick the [Add Web Reference] button at the bottom.

Resizing image in Java

Simple way in Java

public void resize(String inputImagePath,
            String outputImagePath, int scaledWidth, int scaledHeight)
            throws IOException {
        // reads input image
        File inputFile = new File(inputImagePath);
        BufferedImage inputImage = ImageIO.read(inputFile);

        // creates output image
        BufferedImage outputImage = new BufferedImage(scaledWidth,
                scaledHeight, inputImage.getType());

        // scales the input image to the output image
        Graphics2D g2d = outputImage.createGraphics();
        g2d.drawImage(inputImage, 0, 0, scaledWidth, scaledHeight, null);
        g2d.dispose();

        // extracts extension of output file
        String formatName = outputImagePath.substring(outputImagePath
                .lastIndexOf(".") + 1);

        // writes to output file
        ImageIO.write(outputImage, formatName, new File(outputImagePath));
    }

How to view the dependency tree of a given npm module?

Unfortunately npm still doesn't have a way to view dependencies of non-installed packages. Not even a package's page list the dependencies correctly.

Luckily installing yarn:

brew install yarn

Allows one to use its info command to view accurate dependencies:

yarn info @angular/[email protected] dependencies

yarn info @angular/[email protected] peerDependencies

Setting focus to iframe contents

This is something that worked for me, although it smells a bit wrong:

var iframe = ...
var doc = iframe.contentDocument;

var i = doc.createElement('input');
i.style.display = 'none';
doc.body.appendChild(i);
i.focus();
doc.body.removeChild(i);

hmmm. it also scrolls to the bottom of the content. Guess I should be inserting the dummy textbox at the top.

Remove trailing comma from comma-separated string

You can try with this, it worked for me:

if (names.endsWith(",")) {
    names = names.substring(0, names.length() - 1);
}

Or you can try with this too:

string = string.replaceAll(", $", "");

Installing Numpy on 64bit Windows 7 with Python 2.7.3

The (unofficial) binaries (http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#numpy) worked for me.
I've tried Mingw, Cygwin, all failed due to varies reasons. I am on Windows 7 Enterprise, 64bit.

What is the default value for enum variable?

It is whatever member of the enumeration represents the value 0. Specifically, from the documentation:

The default value of an enum E is the value produced by the expression (E)0.

As an example, take the following enum:

enum E
{
    Foo, Bar, Baz, Quux
}

Without overriding the default values, printing default(E) returns Foo since it's the first-occurring element.

However, it is not always the case that 0 of an enum is represented by the first member. For example, if you do this:

enum F
{
    // Give each element a custom value
    Foo = 1, Bar = 2, Baz = 3, Quux = 0
}

Printing default(F) will give you Quux, not Foo.

If none of the elements in an enum G correspond to 0:

enum G
{
    Foo = 1, Bar = 2, Baz = 3, Quux = 4
}

default(G) returns literally 0, although its type remains as G (as quoted by the docs above, a cast to the given enum type).

Call a function with argument list in python

You need to use arguments unpacking..

def wrapper(func, *args):
    func(*args)

def func1(x):
    print(x)

def func2(x, y, z):
    print x+y+z

wrapper(func1, 1)
wrapper(func2, 1, 2, 3)

jQuery Array of all selected checkboxes (by class)

You can use the :checkbox and :checked pseudo-selectors and the .class selector, with that you will make sure that you are getting the right elements, only checked checkboxes with the class you specify.

Then you can easily use the Traversing/map method to get an array of values:

var values = $('input:checkbox:checked.group1').map(function () {
  return this.value;
}).get(); // ["18", "55", "10"]

How can I handle the warning of file_get_contents() function in PHP?

The best thing would be to set your own error and exception handlers which will do something usefull like logging it in a file or emailing critical ones. http://www.php.net/set_error_handler

Adding Http Headers to HttpClient

To set custom headers ON A REQUEST, build a request with the custom header before passing it to httpclient to send to http server. eg:

HttpClient client = HttpClients.custom().build();
HttpUriRequest request = RequestBuilder.get()
  .setUri(someURL)
  .setHeader(HttpHeaders.CONTENT_TYPE, "application/json")
  .build();
client.execute(request);

Default header is SET ON HTTPCLIENT to send on every request to the server.

Eclipse DDMS error "Can't bind to local 8600 for debugger"

In my case the problem was that there was a ghost eclipse hanging on background; it was not using any workspace and had no windows, so it was only on process list that I found it. Killing it resolved the issue.

How to bind a List to a ComboBox?

public class Country
{
    public string Name { get; set; }
    public IList<City> Cities { get; set; }

    public Country()
    {
        Cities = new List<City>();
    }
}

public class City
{
    public string Name { get; set; }
}

List<Country> Countries = new List<Country>
{
    new Country
    {
        Name = "Germany",
        Cities =
        {
            new City {Name = "Berlin"},
            new City {Name = "Hamburg"}
        }
    },
    new Country
    {
        Name = "England",
        Cities =
        {
            new City {Name = "London"},
            new City {Name = "Birmingham"}
        }
    }
};
bindingSource1.DataSource = Countries;
member_CountryComboBox.DataSource = bindingSource1.DataSource;
member_CountryComboBox.DisplayMember = "Name";
member_CountryCombo

Box.ValueMember = "Name";

This is the code I am using now.
