The current state of a socket is determined by 'keep-alive' activity. In your case, this is possible that when you are issuing the send call, the keep-alive activity tells that the socket is active and so the send call will write the required data (40 bytes) in to the buffer and returns without giving any error.

When you are sending a bigger chunk, the send call goes in to blocking state.

The send man page also confirms this:

When the message does not fit into the send buffer of the socket, send() normally blocks, unless the socket has been placed in non-blocking I/O mode. In non-blocking mode it would return EAGAIN in this case

So, while blocking for the free available buffer, if the caller is notified (by keep-alive mechanism) that the other end is no more present, the send call will fail.

Predicting the exact scenario is difficult with the mentioned info, but I believe, this should be the reason for you problem.

If you're using Joda-Time (and there are lots of good reasons to - a simple, intuitive API and thread-safety) then you can do this trivially:

to give 5 days from today, for example.

Rather than kludging it so you can continue, why not back up and wonder why you're running into a NaN in the first place?

If any of the numeric inputs to an operation is NaN, the output will also be NaN. That's the way the current IEEE Floating Point standard works (it's not just Javascript). That behavior is for a good reason: the underlying intention is to keep you from using a bogus result without realizing it's bogus.

The way NaN works is if something goes wrong way down in some sub-sub-sub-operation (producing a NaN at that lower level), the final result will also be NaN, which you'll immediately recognize as an error even if your error handling logic (throw/catch maybe?) isn't yet complete.

NaN as the result of an arithmetic calculation always indicates something has gone awry in the details of the arithmetic. It's a way for the computer to say "debugging needed here". Rather than finding some way to continue anyway with some number that's hardly ever right (is 0 really what you want?), why not find the problem and fix it.

A common problem in Javascript is that both parseInt(...) and parseFloat(...) will return NaN if given a nonsensical argument (null, '', etc). Fix the issue at the lowest level possible rather than at a higher level. Then the result of the overall calculation has a good chance of making sense, and you're not substituting some magic number (0 or 1 or whatever) for the result of the entire calculation. (The trick of (parseInt(foo.value) || 0) works only for sums, not products - for products you want the default value to be 1 rather than 0, but not if the specified value really is 0.)

Perhaps for ease of coding you want a function to retrieve a value from the user, clean it up, and provide a default value if necessary, like this:

I m not satisfied by the best answer by the Joseph, instead of fixing the correct problem, he told that this is wrong use case. In fact there are many places for example if you are converting an old codebase to ajaxified code and there you NEED it, then you NEED it. In programming there is no excuse because its not only you who is coding its all bad and good developers and you have to work side by side. So if I don't code redirection in ajax my fellow developer can force me to have a solution for it. Just like I like to use all AMD patterned sites or mvc4, and my company can keep me away from it for a year.

So let's talk on the solution now.

I have done hell heck of ajax request and response handling and the simplest way I found out was to send status codes to the client and have one standard javascript function to understand those codes. If i simply send for example code 13 it might meant a redirect.

So a json response like { statusCode: 13, messsage: '/home/logged-in' } of course there are tons of variations proposed like { status: 'success', code: 13, url: '/home/logged-in', message: 'You are logged in now' }

etc , so up to your own choice of standard messages

Basically, ajax request as well as synchronous request sends your document cookies automatically. So, you need to set your cookie to document, not to request. If you want the ComboBox to dynamically update you'll need to make sure that the data structure that you have set as the DataSource implements IBindingList; one such structure is BindingList<T>.

Tip: make sure that you are binding the DisplayMember to a Property on the class and not a public field. For those who fear to mess anything up in your vscode json settings this is pretty easy to follow.

Various ways to create a branch in git from another branch:

This answer adds some additional insight, not already present in the existing answers, regarding just the title of the question itself (Create a branch in Git from another branch), but does not address the more narrow specifics of the question which already have sufficient answers here.

I'm adding this because I really needed to know how to do #1 below just now (create a new branch from a branch I do NOT have checked out), and it wasn't obvious how to do it, and Google searches led to here as a top search result. So, I'll share my findings here. This isn't touched upon well, if at all, by any other answer here.

While I'm at it, I'll also add my other most-common git branch commands I use in my regular workflow, below.

1. To create a new branch from a branch you do NOT have checked out:

Create branch2 from branch1 while you have any branch whatsoever checked out (ex: let's say you have master checked out):

git branch branch2 branch1

The general format is:

git branch <new_branch> [from_branch]

man git branch shows it as:

git branch [--track | --no-track] [-l] [-f] <branchname> [<start-point>]

2. To create a new branch from the branch you DO have checked out:

git branch new_branch

This is great for making backups before rebasing, squashing, hard resetting, etc.--before doing anything which could mess up your branch badly.

Ex: I'm on feature_branch1, and I'm about to squash 20 commits into 1 using git rebase -i master. In case I ever want to "undo" this, let's back up this branch first! I do this ALL...THE...TIME and find it super helpful and comforting to know I can always easily go back to this backup branch and re-branch off of it to try again in case I mess up feature_branch1 in the process:

git branch feature_branch1_BAK_20200814-1320hrs_about_to_squash

The 20200814-1120hrs part is the date and time in format YYYYMMDD-HHMMhrs, so that would be 13:20hrs (1:20pm) on 14 Aug. 2020. This way I have an easy way to find my backup branches until I'm sure I'm ready to delete them. If you don't do this and you mess up badly, you have to use git reflog to go find your branch prior to messing it up, which is much harder, more stressful, and more error-prone.

3. To create and check out a new branch from the branch you DO have checked out:

git checkout -b new_branch

4. To rename a branch

Just like renaming a regular file or folder in the terminal, git considered "renaming" to be more like a 'm'ove command, so you use git branch -m to rename a branch. Here's the general format:

git branch -m <old_name> <new_name>

man git branch shows it like this:

git branch (-m | -M) [<oldbranch>] <newbranch>

Example: let's rename branch_1 to branch_1.5:

I think I see your problem, you need to use the @ syntax to define parameters you will pass in this way, also I'm not sure what loginID or password are doing you don't seem to define them anywhere and they are not being used as URL parameters so are they being sent as query parameters?

This is what I can suggest based on what I see so far:

You can't show dialog box ON SERVER from ASP.NET application, well of course tehnically you can do that but it makes no sense since your user is using browser and it can't see messages raised on server. You have to understand how web sites work, server side code (ASP.NET in your case) produces html, javascript etc on server and then browser loads that content and displays it to the user, so in order to present modal message box to the user you have to use Javascript, for example alert function.

Kubernetes is an open source project that brings 'Google style' cluster management capabilities to the world of virtual machines, or 'on the metal' scenarios. It works very well with modern operating system environments (like CoreOS or Red Hat Atomic) that offer up lightweight computing 'nodes' that are managed for you. It is written in Golang and is lightweight, modular, portable and extensible. We (the Kubernetes team) are working with a number of different technology companies (including Mesosphere who curate the Mesos open source project) to establish Kubernetes as the standard way to interact with computing clusters. The idea is to reproduce the patterns that we see people needing to build cluster applications based on our experience at Google. Some of these concepts include:

• pods — a way to group containers together
• replication controllers — a way to handle the lifecycle of containers
• labels — a way to find and query containers, and
• services — a set of containers performing a common function.

So with Kubernetes alone you will have something that is simple, easy to get up-and-running, portable and extensible that adds 'cluster' as a noun to the things that you manage in the lightest weight manner possible. Run an application on a cluster, and stop worrying about an individual machine. In this case, cluster is a flexible resource just like a VM. It is a logical computing unit. Turn it up, use it, resize it, turn it down quickly and easily.

With Mesos, there is a fair amount of overlap in terms of the basic vision, but the products are at quite different points in their lifecycle and have different sweet spots. Mesos is a distributed systems kernel that stitches together a lot of different machines into a logical computer. It was born for a world where you own a lot of physical resources to create a big static computing cluster. The great thing about it is that lots of modern scalable data processing application run well on Mesos (Hadoop, Kafka, Spark) and it is nice because you can run them all on the same basic resource pool, along with your new age container packaged apps. It is somewhat more heavy weight than the Kubernetes project, but is getting easier and easier to manage thanks to the work of folks like Mesosphere.

Now what gets really interesting is that Mesos is currently being adapted to add a lot of the Kubernetes concepts and to support the Kubernetes API. So it will be a gateway to getting more capabilities for your Kubernetes app (high availability master, more advanced scheduling semantics, ability to scale to a very large number of nodes) if you need them, and is well suited to run production workloads (Kubernetes is still in an alpha state).

When asked, I tend to say:

1. Kubernetes is a great place to start if you are new to the clustering world; it is the quickest, easiest and lightest way to kick the tires and start experimenting with cluster oriented development. It offers a very high level of portability since it is being supported by a lot of different providers (Microsoft, IBM, Red Hat, CoreOs, MesoSphere, VMWare, etc).

2. If you have existing workloads (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc), Mesos gives you a framework that let's you interleave those workloads with each other, and mix in a some of the new stuff including Kubernetes apps.

3. Mesos gives you an escape valve if you need capabilities that are not yet implemented by the community in the Kubernetes framework.

A good way to create Public/Global variables is to treat the Form like a class object and declare properties and use Public Property Get [variable] to access property/method. Also you might need to reference or pass a Reference to the instantiated Form module. You will get errors if you call methods to forms/reports that are closed.

A big part of the REST philosophy is to exploit as many standard features of the HTTP protocol as possible when designing your API. Applying that philosophy to authentication, client and server would utilize standard HTTP authentication features in the API.

Login screens are great for human user use cases: visit a login screen, provide user/password, set a cookie, client provides that cookie in all future requests. Humans using web browsers can't be expected to provide a user id and password with each individual HTTP request.

But for a REST API, a login screen and session cookies are not strictly necessary, since each request can include credentials without impacting a human user; and if the client does not cooperate at any time, a 401 "unauthorized" response can be given. RFC 2617 describes authentication support in HTTP.

TLS (HTTPS) would also be an option, and would allow authentication of the client to the server (and vice versa) in every request by verifying the public key of the other party. Additionally this secures the channel for a bonus. Of course, a keypair exchange prior to communication is necessary to do this. (Note, this is specifically about identifying/authenticating the user with TLS. Securing the channel by using TLS / Diffie-Hellman is always a good idea, even if you don't identify the user by its public key.)

An example: suppose that an OAuth token is your complete login credentials. Once the client has the OAuth token, it could be provided as the user id in standard HTTP authentication with each request. The server could verify the token on first use and cache the result of the check with a time-to-live that gets renewed with each request. Any request requiring authentication returns 401 if not provided.

Word up, I as well got tired of writing out enumerations based on Id / Name db table columns, copying and pasting stuff from queries in SSMS.

Below is a super dirty stored procedure that takes as input a table name, the column name you want to use for the c# enumeration name, and the column name that you want to use for the c# enumeration value.

Most of theses table names I work with a) end with "s" b) have a [TABLENAME]Id column and c) have a [TABLENAME]Name column, so there are a couple if statements that will assume that structure, in which case, the column name parameters are not required.

A little context for these examples - "Stonk" here doesn't really mean "stock" but kinda, the way I'm using "stonk" it means "a thing that has some numbers associated to it for a time period" But that's not important, it's just an example of table with this Id / Name schema. It looks like this:

Please, be critical. One funky thing I didn't understand, how come I have to create and drop this #EnumRowsTemp table and not just "SELECT INTO #EnumRowsTemp" to create the temp table on the fly? I was trying to replace a really large string and for some reason regular expressions were throwing some errors/exceptions.

So I found this alternative to regular expressions which also runs pretty fast. At least it was fast enough for me:

Your "bad" output is UTF-8 displayed as CP1252.

On Windows, many editors assume the default ANSI encoding (CP1252 on US Windows) instead of UTF-8 if there is no byte order mark (BOM) character at the start of the file. While a BOM is meaningless to the UTF-8 encoding, its UTF-8-encoded presence serves as a signature for some programs. For example, Microsoft Office's Excel requires it even on non-Windows OSes. Try:

• "IN" is effectively serial ORs with parentheses around them
• AND has precedence over OR in every language I know

So, the 2 expressions are simply not equal.

So, when you break the IN clause up, you split the serial ORs up, and changed precedence.

The conversion to list that's been suggested in the other answers is the best way if you still want to process the generator elements afterwards, but has one flaw: It uses O(n) memory. You can count the elements in a generator without using that much memory with:

sum(1 for x in generator)

Of course, be aware that this might be slower than len(list(generator)) in common Python implementations, and if the generators are long enough for the memory complexity to matter, the operation would take quite some time. Still, I personally prefer this solution as it describes what I want to get, and it doesn't give me anything extra that's not required (such as a list of all the elements).

Also listen to delnan's advice: If you're discarding the output of the generator it is very likely that there is a way to calculate the number of elements without running it, or by counting them in another manner.

Another example with Call, Apply and Bind. The difference between Call and Apply is evident, but Bind works like this:

There are other mechanisms to handle overflow than the simple minded linked list of overflow entries which e.g. wastes a lot of memory.

Which mechanism to use depends among other things on if you can choose the hash function and possible pick more than one (to implement e.g. double hashing to handle collisions); if you expect to often add items or if the map is static once filled; if you intend to remove items or not; ...

The best way to implement this is to first think about all these parameters and then not code it yourself but to pick a mature existing implementation. Google has a few good implementations -- e.g. http://code.google.com/p/google-sparsehash/

In the shell, you can't execute more than one statement at a time:

You need to execute them one by one:

When you see multiple statements are being declared, that means you're seeing a script, which will be executed later. But in the interactive interpreter, you can't do more than one statement at a time.

If another_branch already exists locally and you are not on this branch, then git checkout another_branch switches to the branch.

If another_branch does not exist but origin/another_branch does, then git checkout another_branch is equivalent to git checkout -b another_branch origin/another_branch; git branch -u origin/another_branch. That's to create another_branch from origin/another_branch and set origin/another_branch as the upstream of another_branch.

If neither exists, git checkout another_branch returns error.

git checkout origin another_branch returns error in most cases. If origin is a revision and another_branch is a file, then it checks out the file of that revision but most probably that's not what you expect. origin is mostly used in git fetch, git pull and git push as a remote, an alias of the url to the remote repository.

git checkout origin/another_branch succeeds if origin/another_branch exists. It leads to be in detached HEAD state, not on any branch. If you make new commits, the new commits are not reachable from any existing branches and none of the branches will be updated.

If you want to ensure to collections have exactly the same set of members regardless of order, you can use:

As db4o is a object oriented database system you can directly save you objects into the database and later get them back.

An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine

That is a boiler-plate error message, it comes out of Windows. The underlying error code is WSAECONNABORTED. Which really doesn't mean more than "connection was aborted". You have to be a bit careful about the "your host machine" part of the phrase. In the vast majority of Windows application programs, it is indeed the host that the desktop app is connected to that aborted the connection. Usually a server somewhere else.

The roles are reversed however when you implement your own server. Now you need to read the error message as "aborted by the application at the other end of the wire". Which is of course not uncommon when you implement a server, client programs that use your server are not unlikely to abort a connection for whatever reason. It can mean that a fire-wall or a proxy terminated the connection but that's not very likely since they typically would not allow the connection to be established in the first place.

You don't really know why a connection was aborted unless you have insight what is going on at the other end of the wire. That's of course hard to come by. If your server is reachable through the Internet then don't discount the possibility that you are being probed by a port scanner. Or your customers, looking for a game cheat.

Here is a version that will log to the console when the developer tools are open and not when they are closed.

Label Selection

This is relative to the time it takes to run df.drop(dlst, 1, errors='ignore'). It seems like after all that effort, we only improve performance modestly.

If fact the best solutions use reindex or reindex_axis on the hack list(set(df.columns.values.tolist()).difference(dlst)). A close second and still very marginally better than drop is np.setdiff1d.

Another reason may be that in very old data access libraries on Windows such as RDO and ADO (COM version not ADO.NET) you had to call a special method, GetChunk, to get data from a column with more than 255 chars. If you limited a varchar column to 255, this extra code wasn't necessary.

This could be a certification issue with Firefox, not necessarily anything wrong with your CORS. Firefox CORS request giving 'Cross-Origin Request Blocked' despite headers

I was running into the same exact issue with Socketio and Nodejs throwing CORS error in Firefox. I had Certs for *.myNodeSite.com, but I was referencing the LAN IP address 192.168.1.10 for Nodejs. (WAN IP address might throw the same error as well.) Since the Cert didn't match the IP address reference, Firefox threw that error.

Replace "java installation path" with the directory JDK is installed in, such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Java. Be sure to add the \bin after the JDK directory, because this points to "javac" and "java" (BIN stands for "binaries")

This way, you can run the Java compiler from anywhere. It is impossible to CD to the JDK directory because it has a space in Program Files, and DOS will not let you CD to these directories.

Here's an update to what Richard did that adds a "depth" indicator. The output is level-0, level-1, level-2, etc.

This error could caused by a username with Chinese characters.

1. Create a new local windows user with an English username. Make sure there are no spaces in the username.
2. Install Oracle using the user you just created.

Go to the Ant website and download. This way, you have a copy of Ant outside of Eclipse. I recommend to put it under the C:\ant directory. This way, it doesn't have any spaces in the directory names. In your System Control Panel, set the Environment Variable ANT_HOME to this directory, then pre-pend to the System PATHvariable, %ANT_HOME%\bin. This way, you don't have to put in the whole directory name.

Assuming you did the above, try this:

This will do several things:

• It will eliminate the possibility that the problem is with Eclipe's version of Ant.
• It is way easier to type
• Since you're executing the build.xml in the directory where it exists, you don't end up with the possibility that your Ant build can't locate a particular directory.

The -d will print out a lot of output, so you might want to capture it, or set your terminal buffer to something like 99999, and run cls first to clear out the buffer. This way, you'll capture all of the output from the beginning in the terminal buffer.

Let's see how Ant should be executing. You didn't specify any targets to execute, so Ant should be taking the default build target. Here it is:

Ant uses a scheme to do minimal work. For example, if the bin directory is created, the <mkdir/> task is not executed. Also, if a file was previously copied, or there are no non-Java files in your src directory tree, the <copy/> task won't run. However, the init target will still be executed.

Next, we go back to our previous build-project target:

Maybe you didn't realize that was from your build.

After that, it runs the <javac/> task. That is, if there's any files to actually compile. Again, Ant tries to avoid work it doesn't have to do. If all of the *.java files have previously been compiled, the <javac/> task won't execute.

And, that's the end of the build. Your build might not have done anything simply because there was nothing to do. You can try running the clean task, and then build:

However, Ant usually prints the target being executed. You should have seen this:

Note that the targets are all printed out in order they're executed, and the tasks are printed out as they are executed. However, if there's nothing to compile, or nothing to copy, then you won't see these tasks being executed. Does this look like your output? If so, it could be there's nothing to do.

• If the bin directory already exists, <mkdir/> isn't going to execute.
• If there are no non-Java files in src, or they have already been copied into bin, the <copy/> task won't execute.
• If there are no Java file in your src directory, or they have already been compiled, the <java/> task won't run.

If you look at the output from the -d debug, you'll see Ant looking at a task, then explaining why a particular task wasn't executed. Plus, the debug option will explain how Ant decides what tasks to execute.

See if that helps.

Following many threads here on SO and other boards this cant be done with the normal MessageBox.

I have an idea that is a bit ehmmm yeah..

Use a timer and start in when the MessageBox appears. If your MessageBox only listens to the OK Button (only 1 possibility) then use the OnTick-Event to emulate an ESC-Press with SendKeys.Send("{ESC}"); and then stop the timer.

You can use the -TotalCount parameter of the Get-Content cmdlet to read the first n lines, then use Select-Object to return only the nth line:

Per the comment from @C.B. this should improve performance by only reading up to and including the nth line, rather than the entire file. Note that you can use the aliases -First or -Head in place of -TotalCount.

I tried the win32com way and xlwings way but I didn't get any luck. I use PyCharm and didn't see the .WorkBook option in the autocompletion for win32com. I got the -2147352567 error when I tried to pass a workbook as variable.

Then, I found a work around using vba shell to run my Python script. Write something on the XLS file you are working with when everything is done. So that Excel knows that it's time to run the VBA macro.

But the vba Application.wait function will take up 100% cpu which is wierd. Some people said that using the windows Sleep function would fix it.

-a and -o are the older and/or operators for the test command. && and || are and/or operators for the shell. So (assuming an old shell) in your first case,

The shell is evaluating the and condition. In your second case,

[ "$1" = 'yes' -a $2 -lt 3 ]

The test command (or builtin test) is evaluating the and condition.

Of course in all modern or semi-modern shells, the test command is built in to the shell, so there really isn't any or much difference. In modern shells, the if statement can be written:

Which is more similar to modern programming languages and thus is more readable.

Ignore the files, remove the files from git, update git (for the removal).

Note : this does not deal with history for sensitive information.

This process definitely takes some undertanding of what is going on with git. Over time, having gained that, I've learned to do processes such as:

1) Ignore the files

• Add or update the project .gitignore to ignore them - in many cases such as yours, the parent directory, e.g. log/ will be the regex to use.
• commit and push that .gitignore file change (not sure if push needed mind you, no harm if done).

2) Remove the files from git (only).

• Now remove the files from git (only) with git remove --cached some_dir/
• Check that they still remain locally (they should!).

3) Add and commit that change (essentially this is a change to "add" deleting stuff, despite the otherwise confusing "add" command!)

• git add .
• git commit -m"removal"

I could not get the angular-cli to go away. I FINALLY figured out a way to find it on my windows machine. If you have Cygwin installed or you are running linux or mac you can run which ng and it will give you the directory the command is running from. In my case it was running from /c/Users/myuser/AppData/Roaming/npm/ng

action="" will resolve to the page's address. action="#" will resolve to the page's address + #, which will mean an empty fragment identifier.

Doing the latter might prevent a navigation (new load) to the same page and instead try to jump to the element with the id in the fragment identifier. But, since it's empty, it won't jump anywhere.

Usually, authors just put # in href-like attributes when they're not going to use the attribute where they're using scripting instead. In these cases, they could just use action="" (or omit it if validation allows).

A workaround is to use a willAnswer() method.

After "learning" that I had to annotate a class with @Component or the derivatives @Service or @Repository (I guess there are more), to autowire other components inside them, it struck me that these other components still were null inside the constructor of the parent component.

You can use prettytable to render the table as text. The trick is to convert the data_frame to an in-memory csv file and have prettytable read it. Here's the code:

If you are in a directory where only root have access to write in system. Then you can directly use wget www.example.com/wget-test using a standard user account. So it will hit the url but because of having no write permission file won't be saved.. This method is working fine for me as i am using this method for a cronjob. Thanks.

Dijkstra's algorithm assumes paths can only become 'heavier', so that if you have a path from A to B with a weight of 3, and a path from A to C with a weight of 3, there's no way you can add an edge and get from A to B through C with a weight of less than 3.

This assumption makes the algorithm faster than algorithms that have to take negative weights into account.

Can you invert your regex so split by the non operation characters?

A quick way would be to modify the tux filename so that your move command will not match.

For example:

If you're already using JavaScript to center stuff when the screen is too small (as per your comment for your header), why not just undo floats/margins with JavaScript while you're at it and use floats and margins normally.

You could even use CSS media queries to reduce the amount JavaScript you're using.

We had the same problem and this is the solution:

To force entity framework to use a column as a primary key, use ISNULL.

To force entity framework not to use a column as a primary key, use NULLIF.

An easy way to apply this is to wrap the select statement of your view in another select.

Got the same grief as in the original question. Only solved by moving the definition of paulzSprite to after that of spriteFrame. Shouldn't the compiler be smarter than this (VC++, VS 11 Beta)?

And btw, I wholeheartedly agree with Clifford's remark above "Pointers don't cause memory leaks, poor coding causes memory leaks". IMHO this is true of many other new "smart coding" features, which should not become a substitute for understanding what you are actually asking the computer to do.

C/C++ standard library <stdlib.h> contains qsort function.

This is not the best quick sort implementation in the world but it fast enough and VERY EASY to be used... the formal syntax of qsort is:

qsort(<arrayname>,<size>,sizeof(<elementsize>),compare_function);

The only thing that you need to implement is the compare_function, which takes in two arguments of type "const void", which can be cast to appropriate data structure, and then return one of these three values:

• negative, if a should be before b
• 0, if a equal to b
• positive, if a should be after b

1. Comparing a list of integers:

simply cast a and b to integers if x < y,x-y is negative, x == y, x-y = 0, x > y, x-y is positive x-y is a shortcut way to do it :) reverse *x - *y to *y - *x for sorting in decreasing/reverse order

I had the same problem myself. I'm not sure if you got it to work though, but what I had to was:

Linked lists are preferable over arrays when:

1. you need constant-time insertions/deletions from the list (such as in real-time computing where time predictability is absolutely critical)

2. you don't know how many items will be in the list. With arrays, you may need to re-declare and copy memory if the array grows too big

3. you don't need random access to any elements

4. you want to be able to insert items in the middle of the list (such as a priority queue)

Arrays are preferable when:

1. you need indexed/random access to elements

2. you know the number of elements in the array ahead of time so that you can allocate the correct amount of memory for the array

3. you need speed when iterating through all the elements in sequence. You can use pointer math on the array to access each element, whereas you need to lookup the node based on the pointer for each element in linked list, which may result in page faults which may result in performance hits.

4. memory is a concern. Filled arrays take up less memory than linked lists. Each element in the array is just the data. Each linked list node requires the data as well as one (or more) pointers to the other elements in the linked list.

Array Lists (like those in .Net) give you the benefits of arrays, but dynamically allocate resources for you so that you don't need to worry too much about list size and you can delete items at any index without any effort or re-shuffling elements around. Performance-wise, arraylists are slower than raw arrays.

Just adding another way for DataFrame expanded over all columns:

You simply cannot. DataFrames, same as other distributed data structures, are not iterable and can be accessed using only dedicated higher order function and / or SQL methods.

You can of course collect

I had a fresh installation of mysql-server on Ubuntu 18.10 and couldn't login with default password. Then only I got to know that by default root user is authenticated using auth_socket. So as in the answer when the plugin changed to mysql_native_password, we can use mysql default password

You can find the following lines in there

password = password_for_the_user

I know I'm responding to an old post but I wanted to share an example of how to use Variable Tables when one wants to avoid using dynamic SQL. I'm not sure if its the most efficient way, however this has worked in the past for me when dynamic SQL was not an option.

To add previous iOS simulator to Xcode 4.2, you need old xcode_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg (or similar version) installer file and do as following:

• Mount the xcode_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg file
• Open mounting disk image and choose menu: Go->Go to Folder...
• Type /Volumes/Xcode and iOS SDK/Packages/ then click Go. There are many packages and find to iPhoneSimulatorSDK(version).pkg
• Double click to install package you want to add and wait for installer displays.
• In Installer click Continue and choose destination, Choose folder...
• Explorer shows and select Developer folder and click Choose
• Install and repeat with other simulator as you need.
• Restart Xcode.

Now there are a list of your installed simulator.

Here's another one. It looks for the first and last non empty cell and builds are range from those. This also handles cases where your data is not rectangular and does not start in A1. Furthermore it handles merged cells as well, which .Find skips when executed from a macro, used on .Cells on a worksheet.
