JQuery get all elements by class name

With the code in the question, you're only dealing interacting with the first of the four entries returned by that selector.

Code below as a fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/c4nhpqgb/

I want to be overly clear that you have four items that matched that selector, so you need to deal with each explicitly. Using eq() is a little more explicit making this point than the answers using map, though map or each is what you'd probably use "in real life" (jquery docs for eq here).

<html>
    <head>
        <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.1/jquery.min.js" ></script>
    </head>

    <body>
        <div class="mbox">Block One</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Two</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Three</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Four</div>

        <div id="outige"></div>
        <script>
            // using the $ prefix to use the "jQuery wrapped var" convention
            var i, $mvar = $('.mbox');

            // convenience method to display unprocessed html on the same page
            function logit( string )
            {
                var text = document.createTextNode( string );
                $('#outige').append(text);
                $('#outige').append("<br>");
            }

            logit($mvar.length);

            for (i=0; i<$mvar.length; i++)    {
                logit($mvar.eq(i).html());
            }
        </script>
    </body>

</html>

Output from logit calls (after the initial four div's display):

4
Block One
Block Two
Block Three
Block Four

Get Selected value of a Combobox

Maybe you'll be able to set the event handlers programmatically, using something like (pseudocode)

sub myhandler(eventsource)
  process(eventsource.value)
end sub

for each cell
  cell.setEventHandler(myHandler)

But i dont know the syntax for achieving this in VB/VBA, or if is even possible.

How can I Insert data into SQL Server using VBNet

Function ExtSql(ByVal sql As String) As Boolean
    Dim cnn As SqlConnection
    Dim cmd As SqlCommand
    cnn = New SqlConnection(My.Settings.mySqlConnectionString)
    Try
        cnn.Open()
        cmd = New SqlCommand
        cmd.Connection = cnn
        cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
        cmd.CommandText = sql
        cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
        cnn.Close()
        cmd.Dispose()
    Catch ex As Exception
        cnn.Close()
        Return False
    End Try
    Return True
End Function

Set HTML dropdown selected option using JSTL

Assuming that you have a collection ${roles} of the elements to put in the combo, and ${selected} the selected element, It would go like this:

<select name='role'>
    <option value="${selected}" selected>${selected}</option>
    <c:forEach items="${roles}" var="role">
        <c:if test="${role != selected}">
            <option value="${role}">${role}</option>
        </c:if>
    </c:forEach>
</select>

UPDATE (next question)

You are overwriting the attribute "productSubCategoryName". At the end of the for loop, the last productSubCategoryName.

Because of the limitations of the expression language, I think the best way to deal with this is to use a map:

Map<String,Boolean> map = new HashMap<String,Boolean>();
for(int i=0;i<userProductData.size();i++){
    String productSubCategoryName=userProductData.get(i).getProductSubCategory();
    System.out.println(productSubCategoryName);
    map.put(productSubCategoryName, true);
}
request.setAttribute("productSubCategoryMap", map);

And then in the JSP:

<select multiple="multiple" name="prodSKUs">
    <c:forEach items="${productSubCategoryList}" var="productSubCategoryList">
        <option value="${productSubCategoryList}" ${not empty productSubCategoryMap[productSubCategoryList] ? 'selected' : ''}>${productSubCategoryList}</option>
    </c:forEach>
</select>

What does "xmlns" in XML mean?

It means XML namespace.

Basically, every element (or attribute) in XML belongs to a namespace, a way of "qualifying" the name of the element.

Imagine you and I both invent our own XML. You invent XML to describe people, I invent mine to describe cities. Both of us include an element called name. Yours refers to the person’s name, and mine to the city name—OK, it’s a little bit contrived.

<person>
    <name>Rob</name>
    <age>37</age>
    <homecity>
        <name>London</name>
        <lat>123.000</lat>
        <long>0.00</long>
    </homecity>
</person>

If our two XMLs were combined into a single document, how would we tell the two names apart? As you can see above, there are two name elements, but they both have different meanings.

The answer is that you and I would both assign a namespace to our XML, which we would make unique:

<personxml:person xmlns:personxml="http://www.your.example.com/xml/person"
                  xmlns:cityxml="http://www.my.example.com/xml/cities">
    <personxml:name>Rob</personxml:name>
    <personxml:age>37</personxml:age>
    <cityxml:homecity>
        <cityxml:name>London</cityxml:name>
        <cityxml:lat>123.000</cityxml:lat>
        <cityxml:long>0.00</cityxml:long>
    </cityxml:homecity>
</personxml:person>

Now we’ve fully qualified our XML, there is no ambiguity as to what each name element means. All of the tags that start with personxml: are tags belonging to your XML, all the ones that start with cityxml: are mine.

There are a few points to note:

  • If you exclude any namespace declarations, things are considered to be in the default namespace.

  • If you declare a namespace without the identifier, that is, xmlns="http://somenamespace", rather than xmlns:rob="somenamespace", it specifies the default namespace for the document.

  • The actual namespace itself, often a IRI, is of no real consequence. It should be unique, so people tend to choose a IRI/URI that they own, but it has no greater meaning than that. Sometimes people will place the schema (definition) for the XML at the specified IRI, but that is a convention of some people only.

  • The prefix is of no consequence either. The only thing that matters is what namespace the prefix is defined as. Several tags beginning with different prefixes, all of which map to the same namespace are considered to be the same.

    For instance, if the prefixes personxml and mycityxml both mapped to the same namespace (as in the snippet below), then it wouldn't matter if you prefixed a given element with personxml or mycityxml, they'd both be treated as the same thing by an XML parser. The point is that an XML parser doesn't care what you've chosen as the prefix, only the namespace it maps too. The prefix is just an indirection pointing to the namespace.

    <personxml:person
         xmlns:personxml="http://example.com/same/url"
         xmlns:mycityxml="http://example.com/same/url" />

  • Attributes can be qualified but are generally not. They also do not inherit their namespace from the element they are on, as opposed to elements (see below).

Also, element namespaces are inherited from the parent element. In other words I could equally have written the above XML as

<person xmlns="http://www.your.example.com/xml/person">
    <name>Rob</name>
    <age>37</age>
    <homecity xmlns="http://www.my.example.com/xml/cities">
        <name>London</name>
        <lat>123.000</lat>
        <long>0.00</long>
    </homecity>
</person>

What is the best way to get the minimum or maximum value from an Array of numbers?

Math.max() is actually as3 code compiled to AVM2 opcodes, and as such is not more "native" than any other as3 code. As a consequence, it is not necessarily the fastest implementation.

Actually, given that it works on Array type, it is slower than carefully written code usign Vector:

I did a quick benchmark comparison of several naive Vector and Array implementations of Math.max, using gskinner's PerformanceTest (Vector and Array being filled with identical random Numbers). The fastest Vector implementation appeared to be more than 3x faster than Math.max with recent AIR SDK/release player (flash player WIN 14,0,0,122 RELEASE, compiled with AIR SDK 14):

average 3.5 ms for 1,000,000 values, compared to Math.max() average of 11ms :

function max(values:Vector.<Number>):Number
{
    var max:Number = Number.MIN_VALUE;
    var length:uint = values.length;
    for (var i:uint = 0; i < length ; ++i)
        if (values[i] > max)
            max = values[i];
    return max;
}

Conclusion is that if you are concerned by performance, you should use Vector over Array anywhere you can in the first place, and not always rely on default implementations, especially when they force the use of Array

PS:same implementation with a for each() loop is 12x slower ...!

Writing html form data to a txt file without the use of a webserver

i made a little change to this code to save entry of a radio button but unable to save the text which appears in text box after selecting the radio button.

the code is below:-

    <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style>
form * {
  display: block;
  margin: 10px;
}
</style>
<script language="Javascript" >
function download(filename, text) {
  var pom = document.createElement('a');
  pom.setAttribute('href', 'data:text/plain;charset=utf-8,' +

encodeURIComponent(text));
  pom.setAttribute('download', filename);

  pom.style.display = 'none';
  document.body.appendChild(pom);

  pom.click();

  document.body.removeChild(pom);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>

<form onsubmit="download(this['name'].value, this['text'].value)">
  <input type="text" name="name" value="test.txt">

How do I change Bootstrap 3 column order on mobile layout?

In Bootstrap 4, if you want to do something like this:

    Mobile  |   Desktop
-----------------------------
    A       |       A
    C       |   B       C
    B       |       D
    D       |

You need to reverse the order of B then C then apply order-{breakpoint}-first to B. And apply two different settings, one that will make them share the same cols and other that will make them take the full width of the 12 cols:

  • Smaller screens: 12 cols to B and 12 cols to C

  • Larger screens: 12 cols between the sum of them (B + C = 12)

Like this

<div class='row no-gutters'>
    <div class='col-12'>
        A
    </div>
    <div class='col-12'>
        <div class='row no-gutters'>
            <div class='col-12 col-md-6'>
                C
            </div>
            <div class='col-12 col-md-6 order-md-first'>
                B
            </div>
        </div>
    </div>
    <div class='col-12'>
        D
    </div>
</div>

Abort Ajax requests using jQuery

You can abort any continuous ajax call by using this

<input id="searchbox" name="searchbox" type="text" />

<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
     var request = null;

Bitwise and in place of modulus operator

First of all, it's actually not accurate to say that

x % 2 == x & 1

Simple counterexample: x = -1. In many languages, including Java, -1 % 2 == -1. That is, % is not necessarily the traditional mathematical definition of modulo. Java calls it the "remainder operator", for example.

With regards to bitwise optimization, only modulo powers of two can "easily" be done in bitwise arithmetics. Generally speaking, only modulo powers of base b can "easily" be done with base b representation of numbers.

In base 10, for example, for non-negative N, N mod 10^k is just taking the least significant k digits.

References

Mipmaps vs. drawable folders

The mipmap folders are for placing your app/launcher icons (which are shown on the homescreen) in only. Any other drawable assets you use should be placed in the relevant drawable folders as before.

According to this Google blogpost:

It’s best practice to place your app icons in mipmap- folders (not the drawable- folders) because they are used at resolutions different from the device’s current density.

When referencing the mipmap- folders ensure you are using the following reference:

android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher"

The reason they use a different density is that some launchers actually display the icons larger than they were intended. Because of this, they use the next size up.

Is there a date format to display the day of the week in java?

Yep - 'E' does the trick

http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html

Date date = new Date();
DateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-E");
System.out.println(df.format(date));

Oracle "SQL Error: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1"

I had a similar error on my side when I was using JDBC in Java code.

According to this website (the second awnser) it suggest that you are trying to execute the query with a missing parameter.

For instance :

exec SomeStoredProcedureThatReturnsASite( :L_kSite );

You are trying to execute the query without the last parameter.

Maybe in SQLPlus it doesn't have the same requirements, so it might have been a luck that it worked there.

Name attribute in @Entity and @Table

@Entity(name = "someThing") => this name will be used to name the Entity
@Table(name = "someThing") => this name will be used to name a table in DB

So, in the first case your table and entity will have the same name, that will allow you to access your table with the same name as the entity while writing HQL or JPQL.

And in second case while writing queries you have to use the name given in @Entity and the name given in @Table will be used to name the table in the DB.

So in HQL your someThing will refer to otherThing in the DB.

What are the git concepts of HEAD, master, origin?

HEAD is not the latest revision, it's the current revision. Usually, it's the latest revision of the current branch, but it doesn't have to be.

master is a name commonly given to the main branch, but it could be called anything else (or there could be no main branch).

origin is a name commonly given to the main remote. remote is another repository that you can pull from and push to. Usually it's on some server, like github.

hibernate - get id after save object

The session.save(object) returns the id of the object, or you could alternatively call the id getter method after performing a save.

Save() return value:

Serializable save(Object object) throws HibernateException

Returns:

the generated identifier

Getter method example:

UserDetails entity:

@Entity
public class UserDetails {
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue
    private int id;
    private String name;

    // Constructor, Setters & Getters
}

Logic to test the id's :

Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession();
session.getTransaction().begin();
UserDetails user1 = new UserDetails("user1");
UserDetails user2 = new UserDetails("user2");

//int userId = (Integer) session.save(user1); // if you want to save the id to some variable

System.out.println("before save : user id's = "+user1.getId() + " , " + user2.getId());

session.save(user1);
session.save(user2);

System.out.println("after save : user id's = "+user1.getId() + " , " + user2.getId());

session.getTransaction().commit();

Output of this code:

before save : user id's = 0 , 0

after save : user id's = 1 , 2

As per this output, you can see that the id's were not set before we save the UserDetails entity, once you save the entities then Hibernate set's the id's for your objects - user1 and user2

this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("...") and NullPointerException

I had the same issue with the following conditions:

  • The resource files are in the same package as the java source files, in the java source folder (src/test/java).
  • I build the project with maven on the command line and the build failed on the tests with the NullPointerException.
  • The command line build did not copy the resource files to the test-classes folder, which explained the build failure.
  • When going to eclipse after the command line build and rerun the tests in eclipse I also got the NullPointerException in eclipse.
  • When I cleaned the project (deleted the content of the target folder) and rebuild the project in Eclipse the test did run correctly. This explains why it runs when you start with a clean project.

I fixed this by placing the resource files in the resources folder in test: src/test/resources using the same package structure as the source class.

BTW I used getClass().getResource(...)

How to Use UTF-8 Collation in SQL Server database?

Note that as of Microsoft SQL Server 2016, UTF-8 is supported by bcp, BULK_INSERT, and OPENROWSET.

Addendum 2016-12-21: SQL Server 2016 SP1 now enables Unicode Compression (and most other previously Enterprise-only features) for all versions of MS SQL including Standard and Express. This is not the same as UTF-8 support, but it yields a similar benefit if the goal is disk space reduction for Western alphabets.

Use of ~ (tilde) in R programming Language

R defines a ~ (tilde) operator for use in formulas. Formulas have all sorts of uses, but perhaps the most common is for regression:

library(datasets)
lm( myFormula, data=iris)

help("~") or help("formula") will teach you more.

@Spacedman has covered the basics. Let's discuss how it works.

First, being an operator, note that it is essentially a shortcut to a function (with two arguments):

> `~`(lhs,rhs)
lhs ~ rhs
> lhs ~ rhs
lhs ~ rhs

That can be helpful to know for use in e.g. apply family commands.

Second, you can manipulate the formula as text:

oldform <- as.character(myFormula) # Get components
myFormula <- as.formula( paste( oldform[2], "Sepal.Length", sep="~" ) )

Third, you can manipulate it as a list:

myFormula[[2]]
myFormula[[3]]

Finally, there are some helpful tricks with formulae (see help("formula") for more):

myFormula <- Species ~ .

For example, the version above is the same as the original version, since the dot means "all variables not yet used." This looks at the data.frame you use in your eventual model call, sees which variables exist in the data.frame but aren't explicitly mentioned in your formula, and replaces the dot with those missing variables.

Removing spaces from a variable input using PowerShell 4.0

The Replace operator means Replace something with something else; do not be confused with removal functionality.

Also you should send the result processed by the operator to a variable or to another operator. Neither .Replace(), nor -replace modifies the original variable.

To remove all spaces, use 'Replace any space symbol with empty string'

$string = $string -replace '\s',''

To remove all spaces at the beginning and end of the line, and replace all double-and-more-spaces or tab symbols to spacebar symbol, use

$string = $string -replace '(^\s+|\s+$)','' -replace '\s+',' '

or the more native System.String method

$string = $string.Trim()

Regexp is preferred, because ' ' means only 'spacebar' symbol, and '\s' means 'spacebar, tab and other space symbols'. Note that $string.Replace() does 'Normal' replace, and $string -replace does RegEx replace, which is more heavy but more functional.

Note that RegEx have some special symbols like dot (.), braces ([]()), slashes (\), hats (^), mathematical signs (+-) or dollar signs ($) that need do be escaped. ( 'my.space.com' -replace '\.','-' => 'my-space-com'. A dollar sign with a number (ex $1) must be used on a right part with care

'2033' -replace '(\d+)',$( 'Data: $1')
Data: 2033

UPDATE: You can also use $str = $str.Trim(), along with TrimEnd() and TrimStart(). Read more at System.String MSDN page.

Differences between contentType and dataType in jQuery ajax function

From the documentation:

contentType (default: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8')

Type: String

When sending data to the server, use this content type. Default is "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8", which is fine for most cases. If you explicitly pass in a content-type to $.ajax(), then it'll always be sent to the server (even if no data is sent). If no charset is specified, data will be transmitted to the server using the server's default charset; you must decode this appropriately on the server side.

and:

dataType (default: Intelligent Guess (xml, json, script, or html))

Type: String

The type of data that you're expecting back from the server. If none is specified, jQuery will try to infer it based on the MIME type of the response (an XML MIME type will yield XML, in 1.4 JSON will yield a JavaScript object, in 1.4 script will execute the script, and anything else will be returned as a string).

They're essentially the opposite of what you thought they were.

You can do this easily with a DIV by giving it the style word-wrap: break-word (and you may need to set its width, too).

div {
    word-wrap: break-word;         /* All browsers since IE 5.5+ */
    overflow-wrap: break-word;     /* Renamed property in CSS3 draft spec */
    width: 100%;
}

However, for tables, you must either wrap the content in a DIV (or other block tag) or apply: table-layout: fixed. This means the columns widths are no longer fluid, but are defined based on the widths of the columns in the first row only (or via specified widths). Read more here.

Sample code:

table {
    table-layout: fixed;
    width: 100%;
}

table td {
    word-wrap: break-word;         /* All browsers since IE 5.5+ */
    overflow-wrap: break-word;     /* Renamed property in CSS3 draft spec */
}

Hope that helps somebody.

How to start color picker on Mac OS?

You can call up the color picker from any Cocoa application (TextEdit, Mail, Keynote, Pages, etc.) by hitting Shift-Command-C

iOS how to set app icon and launch images

I use a tool called Prepo to produce all the right image sizes. You simply feed the app you image file and it will spit out each necessary file with an appropriate name.

Once you do this, you can then drag in the appropriate files or simply point to your Prepo exported folder.

Is there any use for unique_ptr with array?

To answer people thinking you "have to" use vector instead of unique_ptr I have a case in CUDA programming on GPU when you allocate memory in Device you must go for a pointer array (with cudaMalloc). Then, when retrieving this data in Host, you must go again for a pointer and unique_ptr is fine to handle pointer easily. The extra cost of converting double* to vector<double> is unnecessary and leads to a loss of perf.

What is the best way to detect a mobile device?

If you want to test the user agent, the correct way is to, test the user agent, i.e. test navigator.userAgent.

If the user fakes this they are not due concern. If you test.isUnix() you should not subsequently have to worry if the system is Unix.

As a user changing userAgent is also fine, but you don't expect sites to render properly if you do.

If you wish to provide support for Microsoft browsers you should ensure the first few characters of the content includes and test every page you write.

Bottom line... Always code to the standards. Then hack it until it works in the current version of IE & don't expect it to look good. That's what GitHub does, and they just got given 100 million bucks.

Bad Request - Invalid Hostname IIS7

This solved my problem (sorry for my bad English):

  1. open cmd as administrator and run command (Without the square brackets):
    netsh http add urlacl url=http://[ip adress]:[port]/ user=everyone

  2. in documents/iisexpress/config/applicationhost.config and in your root project folder in (hidden) folder: .vs/config/applicationhost.config you need add row to "site" tag:
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:8080:192.xxx.xxx.xxx" />

  3. open "internet information services (iis) manager"
    (to find it: in search in taskbar write "Turn Window features on or off" and open result and then check the checkbox "internet information service" and install that):

    1. in left screen click: computer-name --> Sites --> Default Web Site and
    2. then click in right screen "Binding"
    3. click Add button
    4. write what you need and press "OK".
  4. open "Windows Firewall With Advanced Security",

    1. in left screen press "Inbound Rules" and then
    2. press in right screen "New Rule..."
    3. check port and press Next,
    4. check TCP and your port and press Next,
    5. check "Allow the connection" and press Next,
    6. check all checkbox and press Next,
    7. write name and press Finish.
  5. done.

How to use pagination on HTML tables?

It is a very simple and effective utility build in jquery to implement pagination on html table http://tablesorter.com/docs/example-pager.html

Download the plugin from http://tablesorter.com/addons/pager/jquery.tablesorter.pager.js

After adding this plugin add following code in head script

$(document).ready(function() {
    $("table")
    .tablesorter({widthFixed: true, widgets: ['zebra']})
    .tablesorterPager({container: $("#pager")});
});

MVC4 StyleBundle not resolving images

Grinn / ThePirat solution works well.

I did not like that it new'd the Include method on bundle, and that it created temporary files in the content directory. (they ended up getting checked in, deployed, then the service wouldn't start!)

So to follow the design of Bundling, I elected to perform essentially the same code, but in an IBundleTransform implementation::

class StyleRelativePathTransform
    : IBundleTransform
{
    public StyleRelativePathTransform()
    {
    }

    public void Process(BundleContext context, BundleResponse response)
    {
        response.Content = String.Empty;

        Regex pattern = new Regex(@"url\s*\(\s*([""']?)([^:)]+)\1\s*\)", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase);
        // open each of the files
        foreach (FileInfo cssFileInfo in response.Files)
        {
            if (cssFileInfo.Exists)
            {
                // apply the RegEx to the file (to change relative paths)
                string contents = File.ReadAllText(cssFileInfo.FullName);
                MatchCollection matches = pattern.Matches(contents);
                // Ignore the file if no match
                if (matches.Count > 0)
                {
                    string cssFilePath = cssFileInfo.DirectoryName;
                    string cssVirtualPath = context.HttpContext.RelativeFromAbsolutePath(cssFilePath);
                    foreach (Match match in matches)
                    {
                        // this is a path that is relative to the CSS file
                        string relativeToCSS = match.Groups[2].Value;
                        // combine the relative path to the cssAbsolute
                        string absoluteToUrl = Path.GetFullPath(Path.Combine(cssFilePath, relativeToCSS));

                        // make this server relative
                        string serverRelativeUrl = context.HttpContext.RelativeFromAbsolutePath(absoluteToUrl);

                        string quote = match.Groups[1].Value;
                        string replace = String.Format("url({0}{1}{0})", quote, serverRelativeUrl);
                        contents = contents.Replace(match.Groups[0].Value, replace);
                    }
                }
                // copy the result into the response.
                response.Content = String.Format("{0}\r\n{1}", response.Content, contents);
            }
        }
    }
}

And then wrapped this up in a Bundle Implemetation:

public class StyleImagePathBundle
    : Bundle
{
    public StyleImagePathBundle(string virtualPath)
        : base(virtualPath)
    {
        base.Transforms.Add(new StyleRelativePathTransform());
        base.Transforms.Add(new CssMinify());
    }

    public StyleImagePathBundle(string virtualPath, string cdnPath)
        : base(virtualPath, cdnPath)
    {
        base.Transforms.Add(new StyleRelativePathTransform());
        base.Transforms.Add(new CssMinify());
    }
}

Sample Usage:

static void RegisterBundles(BundleCollection bundles)
{
...
    bundles.Add(new StyleImagePathBundle("~/bundles/Bootstrap")
            .Include(
                "~/Content/css/bootstrap.css",
                "~/Content/css/bootstrap-responsive.css",
                "~/Content/css/jquery.fancybox.css",
                "~/Content/css/style.css",
                "~/Content/css/error.css",
                "~/Content/validation.css"
            ));

Here is my extension method for RelativeFromAbsolutePath:

   public static string RelativeFromAbsolutePath(this HttpContextBase context, string path)
    {
        var request = context.Request;
        var applicationPath = request.PhysicalApplicationPath;
        var virtualDir = request.ApplicationPath;
        virtualDir = virtualDir == "/" ? virtualDir : (virtualDir + "/");
        return path.Replace(applicationPath, virtualDir).Replace(@"\", "/");
    }

How can I test a change made to Jenkinsfile locally?

Put your SSH key into your Jenkins profile, then use the declarative linter as follows:

ssh jenkins.hostname.here declarative-linter < Jenkinsfile

This will do a static analysis on your Jenkinsfile. In the editor of your choice, define a keyboard shortcut that runs that command automatically. In Visual Studio Code, which is what I use, go to Tasks > Configure Tasks, then use the following JSON to create a Validate Jenkinsfile command:

{
  "version": "2.0.0",
  "tasks": [
    {
      "label": "Validate Jenkinsfile",
      "type": "shell",
      "command": "ssh jenkins.hostname declarative-linter < ${file}"
    }
  ]
}

How do I 'foreach' through a two-dimensional array?

            languages[0] = new string[2];
            languages[1] = new string[3];
// inserting data into double dimensional arrays.
            for (int i = 0; i < 2; i++)
            {
                languages[0][i] = "Jagged"+i.ToString();
            }
            for (int j = 0; j < 3; j++)
            {
                languages[1][j] = "Jag"+j.ToString();
            }

// doing foreach through 2 dimensional arrays.
foreach (string[] s in languages)
            {
                foreach (string a in s)
                {
                    Console.WriteLine(a);
                }
            }

jquery, find next element by class

You cannot use next() in this scenario, if you look at the documentation it says:
Next() Get the immediately following sibling of each element in the set of matched elements. If a selector is provided, it retrieves the next sibling that matches the selector.

so if the second DIV was in the same TD then you could code:

// Won't work in your case
$(obj).next().filter('.class');

But since it's not, I don't see a point to use next(). You can instead code:

$(obj).parents('table').find('.class')

How to set minDate to current date in jQuery UI Datepicker?

How do I pass a string into subprocess.Popen (using the stdin argument)?

I figured out this workaround:

>>> p.communicate()[0]
'four\nfive\n'
>>> p.stdin.close()

Use string contains function in oracle SQL query

The answer of ADTC works fine, but I've find another solution, so I post it here if someone wants something different.

I think ADTC's solution is better, but mine's also works.

Here is the other solution I found

select p.name
from   person p
where  instr(p.name,chr(8211)) > 0; --contains the character chr(8211)
                                    --at least 1 time

How to check if a URL exists or returns 404 with Java?

Based on the given answers and information in the question, this is the code you should use:

public static boolean doesURLExist(URL url) throws IOException
{
    // We want to check the current URL
    HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);

    HttpURLConnection httpURLConnection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();

    // We don't need to get data
    httpURLConnection.setRequestMethod("HEAD");

    // Some websites don't like programmatic access so pretend to be a browser
    httpURLConnection.setRequestProperty("User-Agent", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)");
    int responseCode = httpURLConnection.getResponseCode();

    // We only accept response code 200
    return responseCode == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK;
}

Of course tested and working.

Reading multiple Scanner inputs

If every input asks the same question, you should use a for loop and an array of inputs:

Scanner dd = new Scanner(System.in);
int[] vars = new int[3];

for(int i = 0; i < vars.length; i++) {
  System.out.println("Enter next var: ");
  vars[i] = dd.nextInt();
}

Or as Chip suggested, you can parse the input from one line:

Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
int[] vars = new int[3];

System.out.println("Enter "+vars.length+" vars: ");
for(int i = 0; i < vars.length; i++)
  vars[i] = in.nextInt();

You were on the right track, and what you did works. This is just a nicer and more flexible way of doing things.

Is there a JavaScript strcmp()?

Javascript doesn't have it, as you point out.

A quick search came up with:

function strcmp ( str1, str2 ) {
    // http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net
    // + original by: Waldo Malqui Silva
    // + input by: Steve Hilder
    // + improved by: Kevin van Zonneveld (http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net)
    // +    revised by: gorthaur
    // *     example 1: strcmp( 'waldo', 'owald' );
    // *     returns 1: 1
    // *     example 2: strcmp( 'owald', 'waldo' );
    // *     returns 2: -1

    return ( ( str1 == str2 ) ? 0 : ( ( str1 > str2 ) ? 1 : -1 ) );
}

from http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/techblog/article/javascript_equivalent_for_phps_strcmp/

Of course, you could just add localeCompare if needed:

if (typeof(String.prototype.localeCompare) === 'undefined') {
    String.prototype.localeCompare = function(str, locale, options) {
        return ((this == str) ? 0 : ((this > str) ? 1 : -1));
    };
}

And use str1.localeCompare(str2) everywhere, without having to worry wether the local browser has shipped with it. The only problem is that you would have to add support for locales and options if you care about that.

Replace part of a string in Python?

Use the replace() method on string:

What is the difference between <p> and <div>?

They have semantic difference - a <div> element is designed to describe a container of data whereas a <p> element is designed to describe a paragraph of content.

The semantics make all the difference. HTML is a markup language which means that it is designed to "mark up" content in a way that is meaningful to the consumer of the markup. Most developers believe that the semantics of the document are the default styles and rendering that browsers apply to these elements but that is not the case.

The elements that you choose to mark up your content should describe the content. Don't mark up your document based on how it should look - mark it up based on what it is.

If you need a generic container purely for layout purposes then use a <div>. If you need an element to describe a paragraph of content then use a <p>.

Note: It is important to understand that both <div> and <p> are block-level elements which means that most browsers will treat them in a similar fashion.

DNS caching in linux

Here are two other software packages which can be used for DNS caching on Linux:

  • dnsmasq
  • bind

After configuring the software for DNS forwarding and caching, you then set the system's DNS resolver to 127.0.0.1 in /etc/resolv.conf.

If your system is using NetworkManager you can either try using the dns=dnsmasq option in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf or you can change your connection settings to Automatic (Address Only) and then use a script in the /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d directory to get the DHCP nameserver, set it as the DNS forwarding server in your DNS cache software and then trigger a configuration reload.

Printing pointers in C

"s" is not a "char*", it's a "char[4]". And so, "&s" is not a "char**", but actually "a pointer to an array of 4 characater". Your compiler may treat "&s" as if you had written "&s[0]", which is roughly the same thing, but is a "char*".

When you write "char** p = &s;" you are trying to say "I want p to be set to the address of the thing which currently points to "asd". But currently there is nothing which points to "asd". There is just an array which holds "asd";

char s[] = "asd";
char *p = &s[0];  // alternately you could use the shorthand char*p = s;
char **pp = &p;

Difference between dict.clear() and assigning {} in Python

In addition to the differences mentioned in other answers, there also is a speed difference. d = {} is over twice as fast:

How to Define Callbacks in Android?

In many cases, you have an interface and pass along an object that implements it. Dialogs for example have the OnClickListener.

Just as a random example:

// The callback interface
interface MyCallback {
    void callbackCall();
}

// The class that takes the callback
class Worker {
   MyCallback callback;

   void onEvent() {
      callback.callbackCall();
   }
}

// Option 1:

class Callback implements MyCallback {
   void callbackCall() {
      // callback code goes here
   }
}

worker.callback = new Callback();

// Option 2:

worker.callback = new MyCallback() {

   void callbackCall() {
      // callback code goes here
   }
};

I probably messed up the syntax in option 2. It's early.

file_get_contents("php://input") or $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA, which one is better to get the body of JSON request?

Your second question is easy, GET has a size limitation of 1-2 kilobytes on both the server and browser side, so any kind of larger amounts of data you'd have to send through POST.

Efficient way to apply multiple filters to pandas DataFrame or Series

Chaining conditions creates long lines, which are discouraged by pep8. Using the .query method forces to use strings, which is powerful but unpythonic and not very dynamic.

Once each of the filters is in place, one approach is

import numpy as np
import functools
def conjunction(*conditions):
    return functools.reduce(np.logical_and, conditions)

c_1 = data.col1 == True
c_2 = data.col2 < 64
c_3 = data.col3 != 4

data_filtered = data[conjunction(c1,c2,c3)]

np.logical operates on and is fast, but does not take more than two arguments, which is handled by functools.reduce.

Note that this still has some redundancies: a) shortcutting does not happen on a global level b) Each of the individual conditions runs on the whole initial data. Still, I expect this to be efficient enough for many applications and it is very readable.

You can also make a disjunction (wherein only one of the conditions needs to be true) by using np.logical_or instead:

import numpy as np
import functools
def disjunction(*conditions):
    return functools.reduce(np.logical_or, conditions)

c_1 = data.col1 == True
c_2 = data.col2 < 64
c_3 = data.col3 != 4

data_filtered = data[disjunction(c1,c2,c3)]

WAMP Cannot access on local network 403 Forbidden

To expand on RiggsFolly’s answer—or for anyone who is facing the same issue but is using Apache 2.2 or below—this format should work well:

Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.1 ::1
Allow from localhost
Allow from 192.168
Allow from 10
Satisfy Any

For more details on the format changes for Apache 2.4, the official Upgrading to 2.2 from 2.4 page is pretty clear & concise. Key point being:

The old access control idioms should be replaced by the new authentication mechanisms, although for compatibility with old configurations, the new module mod_access_compat is provided.

Which means, system admins around the world don’t necessarily have to panic about changing Apache 2.2 configs to be 2.4 compliant just yet.

Why is there no xrange function in Python3?

Python3's range is Python2's xrange. There's no need to wrap an iter around it. To get an actual list in Python3, you need to use list(range(...))

If you want something that works with Python2 and Python3, try this

try:

ProgressDialog in AsyncTask

This question is already answered and most of the answers here are correct but they don't solve one major issue with config changes. Have a look at this article https://androidresearch.wordpress.com/2013/05/10/dealing-with-asynctask-and-screen-orientation/ if you would like to write a async task in a better way.

Imported a csv-dataset to R but the values becomes factors

None of these answers mention the colClasses argument which is another way to specify the variable classes in read.csv.

 stuckey <- read.csv("C:/kalle/R/stuckey.csv", colClasses = "numeric") # all variables to numeric

or you can specify which columns to convert:

stuckey <- read.csv("C:/kalle/R/stuckey.csv", colClasses = c("PTS" = "numeric", "MP" = "numeric") # specific columns to numeric

Note that if a variable can't be converted to numeric then it will be converted to factor as default which makes it more difficult to convert to number. Therefore, it can be advisable just to read all variables in as 'character' colClasses = "character" and then convert the specific columns to numeric once the csv is read in:

stuckey <- read.csv("C:/kalle/R/stuckey.csv", colClasses = "character")
point <- as.numeric(stuckey$PTS)
time <- as.numeric(stuckey$MP)

Is it possible to make abstract classes in Python?

In your code snippet, you could also resolve this by providing an implementation for the __new__ method in the subclass, likewise:

def G(F):
    def __new__(cls):
        # do something here

But this is a hack and I advise you against it, unless you know what you are doing. For nearly all cases I advise you to use the abc module, that others before me have suggested.

Also when you create a new (base) class, make it subclass object, like this: class MyBaseClass(object):. I don't know if it is that much significant anymore, but it helps retain style consistency on your code

Curl and PHP - how can I pass a json through curl by PUT,POST,GET

I was Working with Elastic SQL plugin. Query is done with GET method using cURL as below:

curl -XGET http://localhost:9200/_sql/_explain -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d 'SELECT city.keyword as city FROM routes group by city.keyword order by city'

I exposed a custom port at public server, doing a reverse proxy with Basic Auth set.

This code, works fine plus Basic Auth Header:

$host = 'http://myhost.com:9200';
$uri = "/_sql/_explain";
$auth = "john:doe";
$data = "SELECT city.keyword as city FROM routes group by city.keyword order by city";

function restCurl($host, $uri, $data = null, $auth = null, $method = 'DELETE'){
    $ch = curl_init();

    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $host.$uri);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, $method);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/json'));
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);

    if ($method == 'POST')
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
    if ($auth)
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, $auth);
    if (strlen($data) > 0)
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,$data);

    $resp  = curl_exec($ch);
    if(!$resp){
        $resp = (json_encode(array(array("error" => curl_error($ch), "code" => curl_errno($ch)))));
    }
    curl_close($ch);
    return $resp;
}

$resp = restCurl($host, $uri); //DELETE
$resp = restCurl($host, $uri, $data, $auth, 'GET'); //GET
$resp = restCurl($host, $uri, $data, $auth, 'POST'); //POST
$resp = restCurl($host, $uri, $data, $auth, 'PUT'); //PUT

How to make a variable accessible outside a function?

Your variable declarations and their scope are correct. The problem you are facing is that the first AJAX request may take a little bit time to finish. Therefore, the second URL will be filled with the value of sID before the its content has been set. You have to remember that AJAX request are normally asynchronous, i.e. the code execution goes on while the data is being fetched in the background.

You have to nest the requests:

$.getJSON("https://prod.api.pvp.net/api/lol/eune/v1.1/summoner/by-name/"+input+"?api_key=API_KEY_HERE"  , function(name){   obj = name;   // sID is only now available!   sID = obj.id;   console.log(sID); });

Clean up your code!

  • Put the second request into a function
  • and let it accept sID as a parameter, so you don't have to declare it globally anymore! (Global variables are almost always evil!)
  • Remove sID and obj variables - name.id is sufficient unless you really need the other variables outside the function.

$.getJSON("https://prod.api.pvp.net/api/lol/eune/v1.1/summoner/by-name/"+input+"?api_key=API_KEY_HERE"  , function(name){   // We don't need sID or obj here - name.id is sufficient   console.log(name.id);    doSecondRequest(name.id); });  /// TODO Choose a better name function doSecondRequest(sID) {   $.getJSON("https://prod.api.pvp.net/api/lol/eune/v1.2/stats/by-summoner/" + sID + "/summary?api_key=API_KEY_HERE", function(stats){         console.log(stats);   }); }

How to pass multiple parameters in a querystring

I use the AbsoluteUri and you can get it like this:

string myURI = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri;
 if (!WebSecurity.IsAuthenticated) {
        Response.Redirect("~/Login?returnUrl="
            + Request.Url.AbsoluteUri );

Then after you login:

var returnUrl = Request.QueryString["returnUrl"];
 if(WebSecurity.Login(username,password,true)){
                Context.RedirectLocal(returnUrl);

It works well for me.

Convert an image (selected by path) to base64 string

Try this

using (Image image = Image.FromFile(Path))
{
    using (MemoryStream m = new MemoryStream())
    {
        image.Save(m, image.RawFormat);
        byte[] imageBytes = m.ToArray();

        // Convert byte[] to Base64 String
        string base64String = Convert.ToBase64String(imageBytes);
        return base64String;
    }
}

Remove last characters from a string in C#. An elegant way?

You can actually just use the Remove overload that takes one parameter:

str = str.Remove(str.Length - 3);

However, if you're trying to avoid hard coding the length, you can use:

str = str.Remove(str.IndexOf(','));

python socket.error: [Errno 98] Address already in use

There is obviously another process listening on the port. You might find out that process by using the following command:

$ lsof -i :8000

or change your tornado app's port. tornado's error info not Explicitly on this.

How to create an ArrayList from an Array in PowerShell?

I can't get that constructor to work either. This however seems to work:

# $temp = Get-ResourceFiles
$resourceFiles = New-Object System.Collections.ArrayList($null)
$resourceFiles.AddRange($temp)

You can also pass an integer in the constructor to set an initial capacity.

What do you mean when you say you want to enumerate the files? Why can't you just filter the wanted values into a fresh array?

Edit:

It seems that you can use the array constructor like this:

$resourceFiles = New-Object System.Collections.ArrayList(,$someArray)

Note the comma. I believe what is happening is that when you call a .NET method, you always pass parameters as an array. PowerShell unpacks that array and passes it to the method as separate parameters. In this case, we don't want PowerShell to unpack the array; we want to pass the array as a single unit. Now, the comma operator creates arrays. So PowerShell unpacks the array, then we create the array again with the comma operator. I think that is what is going on.

Comparing Arrays of Objects in JavaScript

I know this is an old question and the answers provided work fine ... but this is a bit shorter and doesn't require any additional libraries ( i.e. JSON ):

function arraysAreEqual(ary1,ary2){
  return (ary1.join('') == ary2.join(''));
}

How to list files and folder in a dir (PHP)

LIST FILES IN FOLDER - 1 solution

<?php
// open this directory
$myDirectory = opendir(".");
// get each entry
while($entryName = readdir($myDirectory)) {
    $dirArray[] = $entryName;
}
// close directory
closedir($myDirectory);
//  count elements in array
$indexCount = count($dirArray);
Print ("$indexCount files<br>\n");
// sort 'em
sort($dirArray);
// print 'em
print("<TABLE border=1 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=0 class=whitelinks>\n");
print("<TR><TH>Filename</TH><th>Filetype</th><th>Filesize</th></TR>\n");
// loop through the array of files and print them all
for($index=0; $index < $indexCount; $index++) {
        if (substr("$dirArray[$index]", 0, 1) != "."){ // don't list hidden files
        print("<TR><TD><a href=\"$dirArray[$index]\">$dirArray[$index]</a></td>");
        print("<td>");  print(filetype($dirArray[$index])); print("</td>");
        print("<td>");  print(filesize($dirArray[$index])); print("</td>");
        print("</TR>\n");
    }
}
print("</TABLE>\n");
?>

2 solution

<?PHP
# The current directory
$directory = dir("./");

# If you want to turn on Extension Filter, then uncomment this:
### $allowed_ext = array(".sample", ".png", ".jpg", ".jpeg", ".txt", ".doc", ".xls");

How to initialize a JavaScript Date to a particular time zone

For Ionic users, I had hell with this because .toISOString() has to be used with the html template.

This will grab the current date, but of course can be added to previous answers for a selected date.

I got it fixed using this:

_x000D_
_x000D_
date = new Date();_x000D_
public currentDate: any = new Date(this.date.getTime() - this.date.getTimezoneOffset()*60000).toISOString();
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

The *60000 is indicating the UTC -6 which is CST so whatever TimeZone is needed, the number and difference can be changed.

Leader Not Available Kafka in Console Producer

i know this was posted long time back, i would like to share how i solved it.
since i have my office laptop ( VPN and proxy was configured ).
i checked the environment variable NO_PROXY

> echo %NO_PROXY%

it returned with empty values
now i have set the NO_PROXY with localhost and 127.0.0.1

> set NO_PROXY=127.0.0.1,localhost

if you want to append to existing values, then

> set NO_PROXY=%NO_PROXY%,127.0.0.1,localhost

after this , i have restarted zookeeper and kafka
worked like a charm

Angular 6: How to set response type as text while making http call

You should not use those headers, the headers determine what kind of type you are sending, and you are clearly sending an object, which means, JSON.

Instead you should set the option responseType to text:

addToCart(productId: number, quantity: number): Observable<any> {
  const headers = new HttpHeaders().set('Content-Type', 'text/plain; charset=utf-8');

  return this.http.post(
    'http://localhost:8080/order/addtocart',
    { dealerId: 13, createdBy: "-1", productId, quantity },
    { headers, responseType: 'text'}
  ).pipe(catchError(this.errorHandlerService.handleError));
}

Amazon Interview Question: Design an OO parking lot

In an Object Oriented parking lot, there will be no need for attendants because the cars will "know how to park".

Finding a usable car on the lot will be difficult; the most common models will either have all their moving parts exposed as public member variables, or they will be "fully encapsulated" cars with no windows or doors.

The parking spaces in our OO parking lot will not match the size and shape of the cars (an "impediance mismatch" between the spaces and the cars)

License tags on our lot will have a dot between each letter and digit. Handicaped parking will only be available for licenses beginning with "_", and licenses beginning with "m_" will be towed.

How to exclude a directory from ant fileset, based on directories contents

Answer provided by user mgaert works for me. I think it should be marked as the right answer.

It works also with complex selectors like in this example:

<!--
    selects only direct subdirectories of ${targetdir} if they have a
    sub-subdirectory named either sub1 or sub2
-->
<dirset dir="${targetdir}" >
    <and>
        <depth max="0"/>
        <or>
            <present targetdir="${targetdir}">
                <globmapper from="*" to="*/sub1" />
            </present>
            <present targetdir="${targetdir}">
                <globmapper from="*" to="*/sub2" />
            </present>
        </or>
    </and>
</dirset>

Thus, having a directory structure like this:

targetdir
+-- bar
¦   +-- sub3
+-- baz
¦   +-- sub1
+-- foo
¦   +-- sub2
+-- phoo
¦   +-- sub1
¦   +-- sub2
+-- qux
    +-- xyzzy
        +-- sub1

the above dirset would contain only

baz foo phoo
(bar doesn't match because of sub3 while xyzzy doesn't match because it's not a direct subdirectory of targetdir)

`ui-router` $stateParams vs. $state.params

The documentation reiterates your findings here: https://github.com/angular-ui/ui-router/wiki/URL-Routing#stateparams-service

If my memory serves, $stateParams was introduced later than the original $state.params, and seems to be a simple helper injector to avoid continuously writing $state.params.

I doubt there are any best practice guidelines, but context wins out for me. If you simply want access to the params received into the url, then use $stateParams. If you want to know something more complex about the state itself, use $state.

Calling another method java GUI

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but here's something to consider: c(); won't do anything. c is an instance of the class checkbox and not a method to be called. So consider this:

public class FirstWindow extends JFrame {      public FirstWindow() {         checkbox c = new checkbox();         c.yourMethod(yourParameters); // call the method you made in checkbox     } }  public class checkbox extends JFrame {      public checkbox(yourParameters) {          // this is the constructor method used to initialize instance variables     }      public void yourMethod() // doesn't have to be void     {         // put your code here     } }

XAMPP Apache won't start

Some process is using the port 443, so you can change the port that is used by xampp, to be able to use it. For this job you have to do this:

1- Open httpd-ssl.conf in xampp\apache\conf\extra

2- Look for the line containing Listen 443

3- Change port number to anything you want. I use 4430. ex. Listen 4430.

4- Replace every 443 strings in that file with 4430 and save the file.

Add Favicon to Website

  1. This is not done in PHP. It's part of the <head> tags in a HTML page.
  2. That icon is called a favicon. According to Wikipedia:

    A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16 or 32×32 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage.

  3. Adding it is easy. Just add an .ico image file that is either 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels. Then, in the web pages, add <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"> to the <head> element.
  4. You can easily generate favicons here.

How to remove specific substrings from a set of strings in Python?

If list

I was doing something for a list which is a set of strings and you want to remove all lines that have a certain substring you can do this

import re
def RemoveInList(sub,LinSplitUnOr):
    indices = [i for i, x in enumerate(LinSplitUnOr) if re.search(sub, x)]
    A = [i for j, i in enumerate(LinSplitUnOr) if j not in indices]
    return A

where sub is a patter that you do not wish to have in a list of lines LinSplitUnOr

for example

A=['Apple.good','Orange.good','Pear.bad','Pear.good','Banana.bad','Potato.bad']
sub = 'good'
A=RemoveInList(sub,A)

Then A will be

How to add months to a date in JavaScript?

Split your date into year, month, and day components then use Date:

var d = new Date(year, month, day);
d.setMonth(d.getMonth() + 8);

Date will take care of fixing the year.

Split string with JavaScript

Like this:

var myString = "19 51 2.108997";
var stringParts = myString.split(" ");
var html = "<span>" + stringParts[0] + " " + stringParts[1] + "</span> <span>" + stringParts[2] + "</span";

How do I convert a C# List<string[]> to a Javascript array?

Many of these answers do work, but I have found the easiest way by far is to send data through ViewData or ViewBag and let JSON.Net serialize it.

I use this technique when Javascript is needed for HTML generation before the page load or when AJAX overhead needs to be avoided:

In the controller:

public ActionResult MyController()
{
    var addresses = myAddressesGetter();
    ViewData["addresses"] = addresses ;
    return View();
}

In the view:

@section scripts {
<script type="text/javascript">
    var MyjavascriptAddresses: @Html.Raw(JsonConvert.SerializeObject(ViewData["addresses"])),
</script>
}

You can always rely on JSON.NET whereas some browsers have poor JSON deserialization support. Another benefit over some methods in that you can see the Javascript using your browser's View --> Source, since it is simply text generated server-side.

Note that In most situations, Web API a more elegant way to get JSON to the client.

Warning: mysqli_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'username'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Make sure that your password doesn't have special characters and just keep a plain password (for ex: 12345), it will work. This is the strangest thing that I have ever seen. I spent about 2 hours to figure this out.

Note: 12345 mentioned below is your plain password

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'yourusername'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY '12345';

Initializing a static std::map<int, int> in C++

For example:

const std::map<LogLevel, const char*> g_log_levels_dsc =
{
    { LogLevel::Disabled, "[---]" },
    { LogLevel::Info,     "[inf]" },
    { LogLevel::Warning,  "[wrn]" },
    { LogLevel::Error,    "[err]" },
    { LogLevel::Debug,    "[dbg]" }
};

If map is a data member of a class, you can initialize it directly in header by the following way (since C++17):

// Example

template<>
class StringConverter<CacheMode> final
{
public:
    static auto convert(CacheMode mode) -> const std::string&
    {
        // validate...
        return s_modes.at(mode);
    }

private:
    static inline const std::map<CacheMode, std::string> s_modes =
        {
            { CacheMode::All, "All" },
            { CacheMode::Selective, "Selective" },
            { CacheMode::None, "None" }
            // etc
        };
};

How can I mock an ES6 module import using Jest?

I solved this another way. Let's say you have your dependency.js

export const myFunction = () => { }

I create a depdency.mock.js file besides it with the following content:

export const mockFunction = jest.fn();

jest.mock('dependency.js', () => ({ myFunction: mockFunction }));

And in the test, before I import the file that has the dependency, I use:

import { mockFunction } from 'dependency.mock'
import functionThatCallsDep from './tested-code'

it('my test', () => {
    mockFunction.returnValue(false);

    functionThatCallsDep();

    expect(mockFunction).toHaveBeenCalled();

})

How to match hyphens with Regular Expression?

It’s less confusing to always use an escaped hyphen, so that it doesn't have to be positionally dependent. That’s a \- inside the bracketed character class.

But there’s something else to consider. Some of those enumerated characters should possibly be written differently. In some circumstances, they definitely should.

This comparison of regex flavors says that C? can use some of the simpler Unicode properties. If you’re dealing with Unicode, you should probably use the general category \p{L} for all possible letters, and maybe \p{Nd} for decimal numbers. Also, if you want to accomodate all that dash punctuation, not just HYPHEN-MINUS, you should use the \p{Pd} property. You might also want to write that sequence of whitespace characters simply as \s, assuming that’s not too general for you.

All together, that works out to apattern of [\p{L}\p{Nd}\p{Pd}!$*] to match any one character from that set.

I’d likely use that anyway, even if I didn’t plan on dealing with the full Unicode set, because it’s a good habit to get into, and because these things often grow beyond their original parameters. Now when you lift it to use in other code, it will still work correctly. If you hard-code all the characters, it won’t.

Use jQuery to get the file input's selected filename without the path

How about something like this?

var pathArray = $('input[type=file]').val().split('\\');
alert(pathArray[pathArray.length - 1]);

How to read an excel file in C# without using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel libraries

Send message to specific client with socket.io and node.js

You can do this

On server.

global.io=require("socket.io")(server);

io.on("connection",function(client){
    console.log("client is ",client.id);
    //This is handle by current connected client
    client.emit('messages',{hello:'world'})
    //This is handle by every client
    io.sockets.emit("data",{data:"This is handle by every client"})
    app1.saveSession(client.id)

    client.on("disconnect",function(){
        app1.deleteSession(client.id)
        console.log("client disconnected",client.id);
    })

})

    //And this is handle by particular client
    var socketId=req.query.id
    if(io.sockets.connected[socketId]!=null) {
        io.sockets.connected[socketId].emit('particular User', {data: "Event response by particular user "});
    }

And on client, it is very easy to handle.

var socket=io.connect("http://localhost:8080/")
    socket.on("messages",function(data){
        console.log("message is ",data);
        //alert(data)
    })
    socket.on("data",function(data){
        console.log("data is ",data);
        //alert(data)
    })

    socket.on("particular User",function(data){
        console.log("data from server ",data);
        //alert(data)
    })

Adding to the classpath on OSX

In OSX, you can set the classpath from scratch like this:

export CLASSPATH=/path/to/some.jar:/path/to/some/other.jar

Or you can add to the existing classpath like this:

export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/path/to/some.jar:/path/to/some/other.jar

This is answering your exact question, I'm not saying it's the right or wrong thing to do; I'll leave that for others to comment upon.

How to add 20 minutes to a current date?

Use .getMinutes() to get the current minutes, then add 20 and use .setMinutes() to update the date object.

var twentyMinutesLater = new Date();
twentyMinutesLater.setMinutes(twentyMinutesLater.getMinutes() + 20);

Static nested class in Java, why?

Simple example :

package test;

public class UpperClass {
public static class StaticInnerClass {}

public class InnerClass {}

public static void main(String[] args) {
    // works
    StaticInnerClass stat = new StaticInnerClass();
    // doesn't compile
    InnerClass inner = new InnerClass();
}
}

If non-static the class cannot be instantiated exept in an instance of the upper class (so not in the example where main is a static function)

Loop through an array in JavaScript

Short answer: yes. You can do with this:

var myArray = ["element1", "element2", "element3", "element4"];

for (i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++) {
  console.log(myArray[i]);
}

In a browser console, you can see something like "element1", "element2", etc., printed.

Text border using css (border around text)

I don't like that much solutions based on multiplying text-shadows, it's not really flexible, it may work for a 2 pixels stroke where directions to add are 8, but with just 3 pixels stroke directions became 16, and so on... Not really confortable to manage.

The right tool exists, it's SVG <text> The browsers' support problem worth nothing in this case, 'cause the usage of text-shadow has its own support problem too, filter: progid:DXImageTransform can be used or IE < 10 but often doesn't work as expected.

To me the best solution remains SVG with a fallback in not-stroked text for older browser:

This kind of approuch works on pratically all versions of Chrome and Firefox, Safari since version 3.04, Opera 8, IE 9

Compared to text-shadow whose supports are: Chrome 4.0, FF 3.5, IE 10, Safari 4.0, Opera 9, it results even more compatible.

How can I add or update a query string parameter?

Here's my slightly different approach to this, written as an excercise

function addOrChangeParameters( url, params )
{
  let splitParams = {};
  let splitPath = (/(.*)[?](.*)/).exec(url);
  if ( splitPath && splitPath[2] )
    splitPath[2].split("&").forEach( k => { let d = k.split("="); splitParams[d[0]] = d[1]; } );
  let newParams = Object.assign( splitParams, params );
  let finalParams = Object.keys(newParams).map( (a) => a+"="+newParams[a] ).join("&");
  return splitPath ? (splitPath[1] + "?" + finalParams) : (url + "?" + finalParams);
}

usage:

const url = "http://testing.com/path?empty&value1=test&id=3";

addOrChangeParameters( url, {value1:1, empty:"empty", new:0} )

"http://testing.com/path?empty=empty&value1=1&id=3&new=0"

jQuery Show-Hide DIV based on Checkbox Value

That is because you are only checking the current checkbox.

Change it to

function checkUncheck() {
    $('.pChk').click(function() {
        if ( $('.pChk:checked').length > 0) {
            $("#ProjectListButton").show();
        } else {
            $("#ProjectListButton").hide();
        }
    });
}

to check if any of the checkboxes is checked (lots of checks in this line..).

A Windows equivalent of the Unix tail command

If you do not want to install anything at all you can "build your own" batch file that does the job from standard Windows commands. Here are some pointers as to how to do it.

1) Using find /c /v "" yourinput.file, get the number of lines in your input file. The output is something like:

---------- T.TXT: 15

2) Using for /f, parse this output to get the number 15.

3) Using set /a, calculate the number of head lines that needs to be skipped

4) Using for /f "skip=n" skip the head lines and echo/process the tail lines.

If I find the time, I will build such a batch file and post it back here.

EDIT: tail.bat

REM tail.bat
REM
REM Usage: tail.bat <file> <number-of-lines>
REM
REM Examples: tail.bat myfile.txt 10
REM           tail.bat "C:\My File\With\Spaces.txt" 10

@ECHO OFF
for /f "tokens=2-3 delims=:" %%f in ('find /c /v "" %1') do (
    for %%F in (%%f %%g) do set nbLines=%%F )
set /a nbSkippedLines=%nbLines%-%2
for /f "usebackq skip=%nbSkippedLines% delims=" %%d in (%1) do echo %%d

How can I bind to the change event of a textarea in jQuery?

Use an input event.

var button = $("#buttonId");
$("#textareaID").on('input',function(e){
  if(e.target.value === ''){
    // Textarea has no value
    button.hide();
  } else {
    // Textarea has a value
    button.show();
  }
});

What tool can decompile a DLL into C++ source code?

This might be impossible or at least very hard. The DLL's contents don't depend (a lot) on it being written in C++; it's all machine code. That code might have been optimized so a lot of information that was present in the original source code is simply gone.

That said, here is one article that goes through a lot of material about doing this.

Angular2 @Input to a property with get/set

You could set the @Input on the setter directly, as described below:

_allowDay: boolean;
get allowDay(): boolean {
    return this._allowDay;
}
@Input() set allowDay(value: boolean) {
    this._allowDay = value;
    this.updatePeriodTypes();
}

Redirecting unauthorized controller in ASP.NET MVC

You should build your own Authorize-filter attribute.

Here's mine to study ;)

Catching multiple exception types in one catch block

Hmm, there are many solution written for php version lower than 7.1.

Here is an other simple one for those who doesn't want catch all exception and can't make common interfaces:

<?php

try {
    /* ... */
} catch (FirstException $ex) {
    // just do nothing here
} catch (SecondException $ex) {
    // just do nothing here
}
if ($ex !== NULL) {
    // handle those exceptions here!
}

How to alias a table in Laravel Eloquent queries (or using Query Builder)?

Here is how one can do it. I will give an example with joining so that it becomes super clear to someone.

$products = DB::table('products AS pr')
        ->leftJoin('product_families AS pf', 'pf.id', '=', 'pr.product_family_id')
        ->select('pr.id as id', 'pf.name as product_family_name', 'pf.id as product_family_id')
        ->orderBy('pr.id', 'desc')
        ->get();

Hope this helps.

How to make the python interpreter correctly handle non-ASCII characters in string operations?

def removeNonAscii(s): return "".join(filter(lambda x: ord(x)<128, s))

edit: my first impulse is always to use a filter, but the generator expression is more memory efficient (and shorter)...

def removeNonAscii(s): return "".join(i for i in s if ord(i)<128)

Keep in mind that this is guaranteed to work with UTF-8 encoding (because all bytes in multi-byte characters have the highest bit set to 1).

How can I get the application's path in a .NET console application?

Probably a bit late but this is worth a mention:

Environment.GetCommandLineArgs()[0];

Or more correctly to get just the directory path:

System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(Environment.GetCommandLineArgs()[0]);

Edit:

Quite a few people have pointed out that GetCommandLineArgs is not guaranteed to return the program name. See The first word on the command line is the program name only by convention. The article does state that "Although extremely few Windows programs use this quirk (I am not aware of any myself)". So it is possible to 'spoof' GetCommandLineArgs, but we are talking about a console application. Console apps are usually quick and dirty. So this fits in with my KISS philosophy.

On linux SUSE or RedHat, how do I load Python 2.7

Instructions to download source and install:

https://www.python.org/download/

NOTE: You should check for the latest version of python 2.7.x, as it gets updated frequently. Currently (Oct 2017), the latest version is 2.7.14 though this comment will get old and new versions likely will be released every 6 months or so.

tar xvfz Python-2.7.14.tgz # unzip
cd Python-2.7.14 # go into directory
./configure
make # build
su # or 'sudo su' if there is no root user
make altinstall

(EDIT: make install -> make altinstall per Ignacio's comment).

Find the PID of a process that uses a port on Windows

After some fiddling with a script I came to this action. Copy and save it in a .bat file:

FOR /F "usebackq tokens=5" %%i IN (`netstat -aon ^| find "3306"`) DO taskkill /F /PID %%i

Change 'find "3306"' in the port number which needs to be free. Then run the file as administrator. It will kill all the processes running on this port.

How can I set a custom date time format in Oracle SQL Developer?

I have a related issue which I solved and wanted to let folks know about my solution. Using SQL Developer I exported from one database to csv, then tried to import it into another database. I kept getting an error in my date fields. My date fields were in the Timestamp format:

28-JAN-11 03.25.11.000000000 PM

The above solution (changing the NLS preferences) did not work for me when I imported, but I finally got the following to work:

In the Import Wizard Column Definition screen, I entered "DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM" in the Format box, and it finally imported successfully. Unfortunately I have dozens of date fields and to my knowledge there is no way to systematically apply this format to all date fields so I had to do it manually....sigh. If anyone knows a better way I'd be happy to hear it!

How to read a PEM RSA private key from .NET

You might take a look at JavaScience's source for OpenSSLKey

There's code in there that does exactly what you want to do.

In fact, they have a lot of crypto source code available here.

What is the difference between a generative and a discriminative algorithm?

This article helped me a lot in understanding the concept.

In summary,

  • Both are probabilistic models, meaning they both use probability (conditional probability , to be precise) to calculate classes for the unknown data.
  • The Generative Classifiers apply Joint PDF & Bayes Theorem on the data set and calculate conditional probability using values from those.
  • The Discriminative Classifiers directly find Conditional probablity on the data set

Examples of GoF Design Patterns in Java's core libraries

  1. Flyweight is used with some values of Byte, Short, Integer, Long and String.
  2. Facade is used in many place but the most obvious is Scripting interfaces.
  3. Singleton - java.lang.Runtime comes to mind.
  4. Abstract Factory - Also Scripting and JDBC API.
  5. Command - TextComponent's Undo/Redo.
  6. Interpreter - RegEx (java.util.regex.) and SQL (java.sql.) API.
  7. Prototype - Not 100% sure if this count, but I thinkg clone() method can be used for this purpose.

Downloading a file from spring controllers

With Spring 3.0 you can use the HttpEntity return object. If you use this, then your controller does not need a HttpServletResponse object, and therefore it is easier to test. Except this, this answer is relative equals to the one of Infeligo.

If the return value of your pdf framework is an byte array (read the second part of my answer for other return values) :

@RequestMapping(value = "/files/{fileName}", method = RequestMethod.GET)
public HttpEntity<byte[]> createPdf(
                 @PathVariable("fileName") String fileName) throws IOException {

    byte[] documentBody = this.pdfFramework.createPdf(filename);

    HttpHeaders header = new HttpHeaders();
    header.setContentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_PDF);
    header.set(HttpHeaders.CONTENT_DISPOSITION,
                   "attachment; filename=" + fileName.replace(" ", "_"));
    header.setContentLength(documentBody.length);

    return new HttpEntity<byte[]>(documentBody, header);
}

If the return type of your PDF Framework (documentBbody) is not already a byte array (and also no ByteArrayInputStream) then it would been wise NOT to make it a byte array first. Instead it is better to use:

example with FileSystemResource:

@RequestMapping(value = "/files/{fileName}", method = RequestMethod.GET)
public HttpEntity<byte[]> createPdf(
                 @PathVariable("fileName") String fileName) throws IOException {

    File document = this.pdfFramework.createPdf(filename);

    HttpHeaders header = new HttpHeaders();
    header.setContentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_PDF);
    header.set(HttpHeaders.CONTENT_DISPOSITION,
                   "attachment; filename=" + fileName.replace(" ", "_"));
    header.setContentLength(document.length());

    return new HttpEntity<byte[]>(new FileSystemResource(document),
                                  header);
}

Get full path of a file with FileUpload Control

Path.GetFullPath(fileUpload.PostedFile.FileName);

Sorry this 'll get your program file directory + your file name.

How to obtain the absolute path of a file via Shell (BASH/ZSH/SH)?

I use the single line

(cd ${FILENAME%/*}; pwd)

However, this can only be used when $FILENAME has a leading path of any kind (relative or absolute) that actually exists. If there is no leading path at all, then the answer is simply $PWD. If the leading path does not exist, then the answer may be indeterminate, otherwise and the answer is simply ${FILENAME%/*} if the path is absolute.

Putting this all together I would suggest using the following function

function abspath() {
  # argument 1: file pathname (relative or absolute)
  # returns: file pathname (absolute)
  if [ "$1" == "${1##*/}" ]; then # no path at all
    echo "$PWD"
  elif [ "${1:0:1}" == "/" -a "${1/../}" == "$1" ]; then # strictly absolute path
    echo "${1%/*}"
  else # relative path (may fail if a needed folder is non-existent)
    echo "$(cd ${1%/*}; pwd)"
  fi
}

Note also that this only work in bash and compatible shells. I don't believe the substitutions work in the simple shell sh.

Python: how to print range a-z?

Get a list with the desired values

small_letters = map(chr, range(ord('a'), ord('z')+1))
big_letters = map(chr, range(ord('A'), ord('Z')+1))
digits = map(chr, range(ord('0'), ord('9')+1))

or

import string
string.letters
string.uppercase
string.digits

This solution uses the ASCII table. ord gets the ascii value from a character and chr vice versa.

Apply what you know about lists

>>> small_letters = map(chr, range(ord('a'), ord('z')+1))

>>> an = small_letters[0:(ord('n')-ord('a')+1)]
>>> print(" ".join(an))
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n

>>> print(" ".join(small_letters[0::2]))
a c e g i k m o q s u w y

>>> s = small_letters[0:(ord('n')-ord('a')+1):2]
>>> print(" ".join(s))
a c e g i k m

>>> urls = ["hello.com/", "hej.com/", "hallo.com/"]
>>> print([x + y for x, y in zip(urls, an)])
['hello.com/a', 'hej.com/b', 'hallo.com/c']

UITableView set to static cells. Is it possible to hide some of the cells programmatically?

Yes, it's definitely possible, although I am struggling with the same issue at the moment. I've managed to get the cells to hide and everything works ok, but I cannot currently make the thing animate neatly. Here is what I have found:

I am hiding rows based on the state of an ON / OFF switch in the first row of the first section. If the switch is ON there is 1 row beneath it in the same section, otherwise there are 2 different rows.

I have a selector called when the switch is toggled, and I set a variable to indicate which state I am in. Then I call:

[[self tableView] reloadData];

I override the tableView:willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath: function and if the cell is supposed to be hidden I do this:

[cell setHidden:YES];

That hides the cell and its contents, but does not remove the space it occupies.

To remove the space, override the tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath: function and return 0 for rows that should be hidden.

You also need to override tableView:numberOfRowsInSection: and return the number of rows in that section. You have to do something strange here so that if your table is a grouped style the rounded corners occur on the correct cells. In my static table there is the full set of cells for the section, so there is the first cell containing the option, then 1 cell for the ON state options and 2 more cells for the OFF state options, a total of 4 cells. When the option is ON, I have to return 4, this includes the hidden option so that the last option displayed has a rounded box. When the option is off, the last two options are not displayed so I return 2. This all feels clunky. Sorry if this isn't very clear, its tricky to describe. Just to illustrate the setup, this is the construction of the table section in IB:

  • Row 0: Option with ON / OFF switch
  • Row 1: Displayed when option is ON
  • Row 2: Displayed when option is OFF
  • Row 3: Displayed when option is OFF

So when the option is ON the table reports two rows which are:

  • Row 0: Option with ON / OFF switch
  • Row 1: Displayed when option is ON

When the option is OFF the table reports four rows which are:

  • Row 0: Option with ON / OFF switch
  • Row 1: Displayed when option is ON
  • Row 2: Displayed when option is OFF
  • Row 3: Displayed when option is OFF

This approach doesn't feel correct for several reasons, its just as far as I have got with my experimentation so far, so please let me know if you find a better way. The problems I have observed so far are:

  • It feels wrong to be telling the table the number of rows is different to what is presumably contained in the underlying data.

  • I can't seem to animate the change. I've tried using tableView:reloadSections:withRowAnimation: instead of reloadData and the results don't seem to make sense, I'm still trying to get this working. Currently what seems to happen is the tableView does not update the correct rows so one remains hidden that should be displayed and a void is left under the first row. I think this might be related to the first point about the underlying data.

Hopefully someone will be able to suggest alternative methods or perhaps how to extend with animation, but maybe this will get you started. My apologies for the lack of hyperlinks to functions, I put them in but they were rejected by the spam filter because I am a fairly new user.

See demo at: http://jsfiddle.net/audetwebdesign/tFscL/

Your .flex-item elements should be block level (div instead of span) if you want the height and top/bottom padding to work properly.

Also, on .row, set the width to auto instead of 100%.

Your .flex-container properties are fine.

If you want the .row to be centered vertically in the view port, assign 100% height to html and body, and also zero out the body margins.

Note that .flex-container needs a height to see the vertical alignment effect, otherwise, the container computes the minimum height needed to enclose the content, which is less than the view port height in this example.

Footnote:
The flex-flow, flex-direction, flex-wrap properties could have made this design easier to implement. I think that the .row container is not needed unless you want to add some styling around the elements (background image, borders and so on).

How do you open a file in C++?

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;

void main()
{
    ifstream in_stream; // fstream command to initiate "in_stream" as a command.
    char filename[31]; // variable for "filename".
    cout << "Enter file name to open :: "; // asks user for input for "filename".
    cin.getline(filename, 30); // this gets the line from input for "filename".
    in_stream.open(filename); // this in_stream (fstream) the "filename" to open.
    if (in_stream.fail())
    {
        cout << "Could not open file to read.""\n"; // if the open file fails.
        return;
    }
    //.....the rest of the text goes beneath......
}

Which is faster: Stack allocation or Heap allocation

You can write a special heap allocator for specific sizes of objects that is very performant. However, the general heap allocator is not particularly performant.

Also I agree with Torbjörn Gyllebring about the expected lifetime of objects. Good point!

Go Back to Previous Page

You can use a link to invoke history.go(-1) in Javascript, which is essentially equivalent to clicking the Back button. Ideally, however, it'd be better to just create a link back to the URL from whence the user was posted to the form - that way the proper "flow" of history is preserved and the user doesn't wonder why they have something to click "Forward" to which is actually just submitting the form again.

How do I toggle an element's class in pure JavaScript?

2014 answer: classList.toggle() is the standard and supported by most browsers.

Older browsers can use use classlist.js for classList.toggle():

var menu = document.querySelector('.menu') // Using a class instead, see note below.
menu.classList.toggle('hidden-phone');

As an aside, you shouldn't be using IDs (they leak globals into the JS window object).

How do I enable TODO/FIXME/XXX task tags in Eclipse?

All those settings are necessary to choose which tags you are interested in, but in order to display these tags in a list, you also need to select the right Eclipse perspective. I finally discovered that the "Markers" tab containing the "Task" list is only available under the "Java EE" perspective... Hope this helps! :-)

How to locate and insert a value in a text box (input) using Python Selenium?

Assuming your page is available under "http://example.com"

from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.common.keys import Keys

driver = webdriver.Firefox()
driver.get("http://example.com")

Select element by id:

inputElement = driver.find_element_by_id("a1")
inputElement.send_keys('1')

Now you can simulate hitting ENTER:

inputElement.send_keys(Keys.ENTER)

or if it is a form you can submit:

inputElement.submit()

malloc an array of struct pointers

There's a lot of typedef going on here. Personally I'm against "hiding the asterisk", i.e. typedef:ing pointer types into something that doesn't look like a pointer. In C, pointers are quite important and really affect the code, there's a lot of difference between foo and foo *.

Many of the answers are also confused about this, I think.

Your allocation of an array of Chess values, which are pointers to values of type chess (again, a very confusing nomenclature that I really can't recommend) should be like this:

Chess *array = malloc(n * sizeof *array);

Then, you need to initialize the actual instances, by looping:

for(i = 0; i < n; ++i)
  array[i] = NULL;

This assumes you don't want to allocate any memory for the instances, you just want an array of pointers with all pointers initially pointing at nothing.

If you wanted to allocate space, the simplest form would be:

for(i = 0; i < n; ++i)
  array[i] = malloc(sizeof *array[i]);

See how the sizeof usage is 100% consistent, and never starts to mention explicit types. Use the type information inherent in your variables, and let the compiler worry about which type is which. Don't repeat yourself.

Of course, the above does a needlessly large amount of calls to malloc(); depending on usage patterns it might be possible to do all of the above with just one call to malloc(), after computing the total size needed. Then you'd still need to go through and initialize the array[i] pointers to point into the large block, of course.

Make xargs handle filenames that contain spaces

Alternative solutions can be helpful...

You can also add a null character to the end of your lines using Perl, then use the -0 option in xargs. Unlike the xargs -d '\n' (in approved answer) - this works everywhere, including OS X.

For example, to recursively list (execute, move, etc.) MPEG3 files which may contain spaces or other funny characters - I'd use:

find . | grep \.mp3 | perl -ne 'chop; print "$_\0"' | xargs -0  ls

(Note: For filtering, I prefer the easier-to-remember "| grep" syntax to "find's" --name arguments.)

Event system in Python

We use an EventHook as suggested from Michael Foord in his Event Pattern:

Just add EventHooks to your classes with:

class MyBroadcaster()
    def __init__():
        self.onChange = EventHook()

theBroadcaster = MyBroadcaster()

# add a listener to the event
theBroadcaster.onChange += myFunction

# remove listener from the event
theBroadcaster.onChange -= myFunction

# fire event
theBroadcaster.onChange.fire()

We add the functionality to remove all listener from an object to Michaels class and ended up with this:

class EventHook(object):

    def __init__(self):
        self.__handlers = []

    def __iadd__(self, handler):
        self.__handlers.append(handler)
        return self

    def __isub__(self, handler):
        self.__handlers.remove(handler)
        return self

    def fire(self, *args, **keywargs):
        for handler in self.__handlers:
            handler(*args, **keywargs)

    def clearObjectHandlers(self, inObject):
        for theHandler in self.__handlers:
            if theHandler.im_self == inObject:
                self -= theHandler

What is the difference between map and flatMap and a good use case for each?

Use test.md as a example:

?  spark-1.6.1 cat test.md
This is the first line;
This is the second line;
This is the last line.

scala> val textFile = sc.textFile("test.md")
scala> textFile.map(line => line.split(" ")).count()
res2: Long = 3

scala> textFile.flatMap(line => line.split(" ")).count()
res3: Long = 15

scala> textFile.map(line => line.split(" ")).collect()
res0: Array[Array[String]] = Array(Array(This, is, the, first, line;), Array(This, is, the, second, line;), Array(This, is, the, last, line.))

scala> textFile.flatMap(line => line.split(" ")).collect()
res1: Array[String] = Array(This, is, the, first, line;, This, is, the, second, line;, This, is, the, last, line.)

If you use map method, you will get the lines of test.md, for flatMap method, you will get the number of words.

The map method is similar to flatMap, they are all return a new RDD. map method often to use return a new RDD, flatMap method often to use split words.

Easiest way to convert int to string in C++

Not that I know of, in pure C++. But a little modification of what you mentioned

string s = string(itoa(a));

should work, and it's pretty short.

Suggestions:

  • use consistent 3-4 space indenting and you will find these problems much easier
  • use a brace style that lines up {} vertically and you will see these problems quickly
  • always indent control blocks another level
  • use a syntax highlighting editor, it helps, you'll thank me later

for example,

{
    if (something)
    {
        do stuff
    }
    else
    {
        do other stuff
    }
    switch (value)
    {
        case 'a':
            astuff
            break;
        case 'b':
            bstuff
            //fallthrough //always comment fallthrough as intentional
        case 'c':
            break;
        default: //always consider default, and handle it explicitly
            break;
    }

    {
        if ( something happened )
        {
            run around in circles
            if ( you are scared ) //yeah, much more than 3-4 levels of indent are too many!
            {
                scream and shout
            }
        }
    }
    return typevalue; //always return something, you'll thank me later

The only correct answer is the one by @Grodriguez, and here's a code that he was too lazy to write:

#include <windows.h>
#include <iostream>
#include <bitset>
#include <vector>
using namespace std;

typedef struct _DISK_EXTENT {
    DWORD         DiskNumber;
    LARGE_INTEGER StartingOffset;
    LARGE_INTEGER ExtentLength;
} DISK_EXTENT, *PDISK_EXTENT;

typedef struct _VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS {
    DWORD       NumberOfDiskExtents;
    DISK_EXTENT Extents[ANYSIZE_ARRAY];
} VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS, *PVOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS;

#define CTL_CODE(DeviceType, Function, Method, Access) \
    (((DeviceType) << 16) | ((Access) << 14) | ((Function) << 2) | (Method))
#define IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE ((DWORD)'V')
#define METHOD_BUFFERED 0
#define FILE_ANY_ACCESS 0x00000000
#define IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS CTL_CODE(IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE, 0, METHOD_BUFFERED, FILE_ANY_ACCESS)

int main() {
    bitset<32> drives(GetLogicalDrives());
    vector<char> goodDrives;
    for (char c = 'A'; c <= 'Z'; ++c) {
        if (drives[c - 'A']) {
            if (GetDriveType((c + string(":\\")).c_str()) == DRIVE_FIXED) {
                goodDrives.push_back(c);
            }
        }
    }
    for (auto & drive : goodDrives) {
        string s = string("\\\\.\\") + drive + ":";
        HANDLE h = CreateFileA(
            s.c_str(), GENERIC_READ, FILE_SHARE_READ | FILE_SHARE_WRITE, NULL,
            OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING | FILE_FLAG_RANDOM_ACCESS, NULL
        );
        if (h == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) {
            cerr << "Drive " << drive << ":\\ cannot be opened";
            continue;
        }
        DWORD bytesReturned;
        VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS vde;
        if (!DeviceIoControl(
            h, IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS,
            NULL, 0, &vde, sizeof(vde), &bytesReturned, NULL
        )) {
            cerr << "Drive " << drive << ":\\ cannot be mapped into physical drive";
            continue;
        }
        cout << "Drive " << drive << ":\\ is on the following physical drives: ";
        for (int i = 0; i < vde.NumberOfDiskExtents; ++i) {
            cout << vde.Extents[i].DiskNumber << ' ';
        }
        cout << endl;
    }
}

I think that installation of Windows Driver Development Kit is quite a lengthy process, so I've included the declarations one needs to use DeviceIoControl for this task.

Highlight label if checkbox is checked

If you have

<div>
  <input type="checkbox" class="check-with-label" id="idinput" />
  <label class="label-for-check" for="idinput">My Label</label>
</div>

you can do

.check-with-label:checked + .label-for-check {
  font-weight: bold;
}

See this working. Note that this won't work in non-modern browsers.

printf formatting (%d versus %u)

You can find a list of formatting escapes on this page.

%d is a signed integer, while %u is an unsigned integer. Pointers (when treated as numbers) are usually non-negative.

If you actually want to display a pointer, use the %p format specifier.

ASP.NET Identity - HttpContext has no extension method for GetOwinContext

PHP Array to JSON Array using json_encode();

json_encode() function will help you to encode array to JSON in php.

if you will use just json_encode function directly without any specific option, it will return an array. Like mention above question

$array = array(
  2 => array("Afghanistan",32,13),
  4 => array("Albania",32,12)
);
$out = array_values($array);
json_encode($out);
// [["Afghanistan",32,13],["Albania",32,12]]

Since you are trying to convert Array to JSON, Then I would suggest to use JSON_FORCE_OBJECT as additional option(parameters) in json_encode, Like below

<?php
$array=['apple','orange','banana','strawberry'];
echo json_encode($array, JSON_FORCE_OBJECT);
// {"0":"apple","1":"orange","2":"banana","3":"strawberry"}
?>

How to set the opacity/alpha of a UIImage?

I realize this is quite late, but I needed something like this so I whipped up a quick and dirty method to do this.

+ (UIImage *) image:(UIImage *)image withAlpha:(CGFloat)alpha{

    // Create a pixel buffer in an easy to use format
    CGImageRef imageRef = [image CGImage];
    NSUInteger width = CGImageGetWidth(imageRef);
    NSUInteger height = CGImageGetHeight(imageRef);
    CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB();

    UInt8 * m_PixelBuf = malloc(sizeof(UInt8) * height * width * 4);

    NSUInteger bytesPerPixel = 4;
    NSUInteger bytesPerRow = bytesPerPixel * width;
    NSUInteger bitsPerComponent = 8;
    CGContextRef context = CGBitmapContextCreate(m_PixelBuf, width, height,
                                                 bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace,
                                                 kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big);

    CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height), imageRef);
    CGContextRelease(context);

    //alter the alpha
    int length = height * width * 4;
    for (int i=0; i<length; i+=4)
    {
        m_PixelBuf[i+3] =  255*alpha;
    }

    //create a new image
    CGContextRef ctx = CGBitmapContextCreate(m_PixelBuf, width, height,
                                                 bitsPerComponent, bytesPerRow, colorSpace,
                                                 kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big);

    CGImageRef newImgRef = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(ctx);
    CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace);
    CGContextRelease(ctx);
    free(m_PixelBuf);

    UIImage *finalImage = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:newImgRef];
    CGImageRelease(newImgRef);

    return finalImage;
}

BAT file to map to network drive without running as admin

Save below in a test.bat and It'll work for you:

@echo off

net use Z: \\server\SharedFolderName password /user:domain\Username /persistent:yes

/persistent:yes flag will tell the computer to automatically reconnect this share on logon. Otherwise, you need to run the script again during each boot to map the drive.

For Example:

net use Z: \\WindowsServer123\g$ P@ssw0rd /user:Mynetdomain\Sysadmin /persistent:yes

unix - count of columns in file

Based on Cat Kerr response. This command is working on solaris

awk '{print NF; exit}' stores.dat

Error: Cannot Start Container: stat /bin/sh: no such file or directory"

This error

docker: Error response from daemon: OCI runtime create failed: container_linux.go:348: starting container process caused "exec: \"/bin/sh\": stat /bin/sh: no such file or directory": unknown.

occurs when creating a docker image from base image eg. scratch. This is because the resulting image does not have a shell to execute the image. If your use:

ENV EXECUTABLE hello
cmd [$EXECUTABLE]

in your docker file, docker uses /bin/sh to parse the input string. and hence the error. Inspecting on the image, your will find:

$docker inspect <image-name>
"Entrypoint": [
                "/bin/sh",
                "-c",
                "[$HM_APP]"
            ]

This means that the ENTRYPOINT or CMD arguments will be parsed using /bin/sh -c. The solution that worked for me is to parse the command as a JSON array of string e.g.

cmd ["hello"]

and inspecting the image again:

"Entrypoint": [
                "hello"
            ]

This removes the dependence on /bin/sh the docker app can now execute the binary file. Example:

FROM scratch

# Environmental variables

# Copy files
ADD . /
# Home dir
WORKDIR /bin

EXPOSE 8083
ENTRYPOINT ["hospitalms"]

Hope this helps someone in future.

How to pass json POST data to Web API method as an object?

Following code to return data in the json format ,instead of the xml -Web API 2 :-

Put following line in the Global.asax file

GlobalConfiguration.Configuration.Formatters.JsonFormatter.SerializerSettings.ReferenceLoopHandling = Newtonsoft.Json.ReferenceLoopHandling.Ignore;
        GlobalConfiguration.Configuration.Formatters.Remove(GlobalConfiguration.Configuration.Formatters.XmlFormatter);

How to resize superview to fit all subviews with autolayout?

This can be done for a normal subview inside a larger UIView, but it doesn't work automatically for headerViews. The height of a headerView is determined by what's returned by tableView:heightForHeaderInSection: so you have to calculate the height based on the height of the UILabel plus space for the UIButton and any padding you need. You need to do something like this:

-(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView
          heightForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section {
    NSString *s = self.headeString[indexPath.section];
    CGSize size = [s sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:17]
                constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(281, CGFLOAT_MAX)
                    lineBreakMode:NSLineBreakByWordWrapping];
    return size.height + 60;
}

Here headerString is whatever string you want to populate the UILabel, and the 281 number is the width of the UILabel (as setup in Interface Builder)

Call an activity method from a fragment

Although i completely like Marco's Answer i think it is fair to point out that you can also use a publish/subscribe based framework to achieve the same result for example if you go with the event bus you can do the following

fragment :

EventBus.getDefault().post(new DoSomeActionEvent());

Activity:

 @Subscribe
onSomeActionEventRecieved(DoSomeActionEvent doSomeActionEvent){
//Do something

}

What is <=> (the 'Spaceship' Operator) in PHP 7?

Its a new operator for combined comparison. Similar to strcmp() or version_compare() in behavior, but it can be used on all generic PHP values with the same semantics as <, <=, ==, >=, >. It returns 0 if both operands are equal, 1 if the left is greater, and -1 if the right is greater. It uses exactly the same comparison rules as used by our existing comparison operators: <, <=, ==, >= and >.

How to make a Div appear on top of everything else on the screen?

URL encode sees “&” (ampersand) as “&amp;” HTML entity

There is HTML and URI encodings. &amp; is & encoded in HTML while %26 is & in URI encoding.

So before URI encoding your string you might want to HTML decode and then URI encode it :)

var div = document.createElement('div');
div.innerHTML = '&amp;AndOtherHTMLEncodedStuff';
var htmlDecoded = div.firstChild.nodeValue;
var urlEncoded = encodeURIComponent(htmlDecoded);

result %26AndOtherHTMLEncodedStuff

Hope this saves you some time

When to use static methods

Actually, we use static properties and methods in a class, when we want to use some part of our program should exists there until our program is running. And we know that, to manipulate static properties, we need static methods as they are not a part of instance variable. And without static methods, to manipulate static properties is time consuming.

      }
      std::thread member1Thread() {
          return std::thread([=] { member1(); });
      }
      std::thread member2Thread(const char *arg1, unsigned arg2) {
          return std::thread([=] { member2(arg1, arg2); });
      }
};
int main(int argc, char **argv) {
   Wrapper *w = new Wrapper();
   std::thread tw1 = w->member1Thread();
   std::thread tw2 = w->member2Thread("hello", 100);
   tw1.join();
   tw2.join();
   return 0;
}

Compiling with g++ produces the following result

g++ -Wall -std=c++11 hello.cc -o hello -pthread

i am member1
i am member2 and my first arg is (hello) and second arg is (100)

How can I print out C++ map values?

If your compiler supports (at least part of) C++11 you could do something like:

for (auto& t : myMap)
    std::cout << t.first << " "
              << t.second.first << " "
              << t.second.second << "\n";

For C++03 I'd use std::copy with an insertion operator instead:

typedef std::pair<string, std::pair<string, string> > T;

std::ostream &operator<<(std::ostream &os, T const &t) {
    return os << t.first << " " << t.second.first << " " << t.second.second;
}

// ...
std:copy(myMap.begin(), myMap.end(), std::ostream_iterator<T>(std::cout, "\n"));

Deleting queues in RabbitMQ

import pika

connection = pika.BlockingConnection(pika.ConnectionParameters(
               'localhost'))
channel = connection.channel()

channel.queue_delete(queue='queue-name')

connection.close()

Install pika package as follows

$ sudo pip install pika==0.9.8

The installation depends on pip and git-core packages, you may need to install them first.

On Ubuntu:

$ sudo apt-get install python-pip git-core

On Debian:

$ sudo apt-get install python-setuptools git-core
$ sudo easy_install pip

On Windows: To install easy_install, run the MS Windows Installer for setuptools

> easy_install pip
> pip install pika==0.9.8

How to set label size in Bootstrap

You'll have to do 2 things to make a Bootstrap label (or anything really) adjust sizes based on screen size:

  • Use a media query per display size range to adjust the CSS.
  • Override CSS sizing set by Bootstrap. You do this by making your CSS rules more specific than Bootstrap's. By default, Bootstrap sets .label { font-size: 75% }. So any extra selector on your CSS rule will make it more specific.

Here's an example CSS listing to accomplish what you are asking, using the default 4 sizes in Bootstrap:

@media (max-width: 767) {
    /* your custom css class on a parent will increase specificity */
    /* so this rule will override Bootstrap's font size setting */
    .autosized .label { font-size: 14px; }
}

@media (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 991px) {
    .autosized .label { font-size: 16px; }
}

@media (min-width: 992px) and (max-width: 1199px) {
    .autosized .label { font-size: 18px; }
}

@media (min-width: 1200px) {
    .autosized .label { font-size: 20px; }
}

Here is how it could be used in the HTML:

<!-- any ancestor could be set to autosized -->
<div class="autosized">
    ...
        ...
            <span class="label label-primary">Label 1</span>
</div>

Using an HTML button to call a JavaScript function

Your HTML and the way you call the function from the button look correct.

The problem appears to be in the CapacityCount function. I'm getting this error in my console on Firefox 3.5: "document.all is undefined" on line 759 of bendelcorp.js.

Edit:

Looks like document.all is an IE-only thing and is a nonstandard way of accessing the DOM. If you use document.getElementById(), it should probably work. Example: document.getElementById("RUnits").value instead of document.all.Capacity.RUnits.value

Excel CSV. file with more than 1,048,576 rows of data

I found this subject researching. There is a way to copy all this data to an Excel Datasheet. (I have this problem before with a 50 million line CSV file) If there is any format, additional code could be included. Try this.

Sub ReadCSVFiles()

Dim UserFileName As String
Dim strTextLine As String
Dim iFile As Integer: iFile = FreeFile

UserFileName = Application.GetOpenFilename
Open UserFileName For Input As #iFile
i = 1
j = 1
Check = False

Do Until EOF(1)
    Line Input #1, strTextLine
    If i >= 1048576 Then
        i = 1
        j = j + 1
    Else
        Sheets(1).Cells(i, j) = strTextLine
        i = i + 1
    End If
Loop
Close #iFile
End Sub

Insert data to MySql DB and display if insertion is success or failure

if (mysql_query("INSERT INTO PEOPLE (NAME ) VALUES ('COLE')")or die(mysql_error())) {
  echo 'Success';
} else {
  echo 'Fail';
}

Although since you have or die(mysql_error()) it will show the mysql_error() on the screen when it fails. You should probably remove that if it isnt the desired result

Convert generic list to dataset in C#

You could create an extension method to add all property values through reflection:

public static DataSet ToDataSet<T>(this IList<T> list)
{
    Type elementType = typeof(T);
    DataSet ds = new DataSet();
    DataTable t = new DataTable();
    ds.Tables.Add(t);

    //add a column to table for each public property on T
    foreach(var propInfo in elementType.GetProperties())
    {
        t.Columns.Add(propInfo.Name, propInfo.PropertyType);
    }

    //go through each property on T and add each value to the table
    foreach(T item in list)
    {
        DataRow row = t.NewRow();
        foreach(var propInfo in elementType.GetProperties())
        {
            row[propInfo.Name] = propInfo.GetValue(item, null);
        }
    }

    return ds;
}

Most concise way to convert a Set<T> to a List<T>

Considering that we have Set<String> stringSet we can use following:

Plain Java

List<String> strList = new ArrayList<>(stringSet);

Guava

List<String> strList = Lists.newArrayList(stringSet);

Apache Commons

List<String> strList = new ArrayList<>();
CollectionUtils.addAll(strList, stringSet);

Java 10 (Unmodifiable List)

List<String> strList = List.copyOf(stringSet);
List<String> strList = stringSet.stream().collect(Collectors.toUnmodifiableList());

Java 8 (Modifiable Lists)

import static java.util.stream.Collectors.*;
List<String> stringList1 = stringSet.stream().collect(toList());

As per the doc for the method toList()

There are no guarantees on the type, mutability, serializability, or thread-safety of the List returned; if more control over the returned List is required, use toCollection(Supplier).

So if we need a specific implementation e.g. ArrayList we can get it this way:

List<String> stringList2 = stringSet.stream().
                              collect(toCollection(ArrayList::new));

Java 8 (Unmodifiable Lists)

We can make use of Collections::unmodifiableList method and wrap the list returned in previous examples. We can also write our own custom method as:

class ImmutableCollector {
    public static <T> Collector<T, List<T>, List<T>> toImmutableList(Supplier<List<T>> supplier) {
            return Collector.of( supplier, List::add, (left, right) -> {
                        left.addAll(right);
                        return left;
                    }, Collections::unmodifiableList);
        }
}

And then use it as:

List<String> stringList3 = stringSet.stream()
             .collect(ImmutableCollector.toImmutableList(ArrayList::new));

Another possibility is to make use of collectingAndThen method which allows some final transformation to be done before returning result:

    List<String> stringList4 = stringSet.stream().collect(collectingAndThen(
      toCollection(ArrayList::new),Collections::unmodifiableList));

One point to note is that the method Collections::unmodifiableList returns an unmodifiable view of the specified list, as per doc. An unmodifiable view collection is a collection that is unmodifiable and is also a view onto a backing collection. Note that changes to the backing collection might still be possible, and if they occur, they are visible through the unmodifiable view. But the collector method Collectors.unmodifiableList returns truly immutable list in Java 10.

Get an element by index in jQuery

$(...)[index] // gives you the DOM element at index
$(...).get(index) // gives you the DOM element at index
$(...).eq(index) // gives you the jQuery object of element at index

DOM objects don't have css function, use the last...

$('ul li').eq(index).css({'background-color':'#343434'});

docs:

.get(index) Returns: Element

.eq(index) Returns: jQuery

2) html. This will take an html string as it's sole parameter, and will replace the contents of your element with the html provided.

So, in your case, you'll want to do the following:

$('#content-container a').click(function(e){
    $(this).parent().html('<a href="#">I\'m a new link</a>');
    e.preventDefault();
});

If you only want to add content to your div, rather than replacing everything in it, you should use append:

$('#content-container a').click(function(e){
    $(this).parent().append('<a href="#">I\'m a new link</a>');
    e.preventDefault();
});

If you want the new added links to also add new content when clicked, you should use event delegation:

$('#content-container').on('click', 'a', function(e){
    $(this).parent().append('<a href="#">I\'m a new link</a>');
    e.preventDefault();
});

How to log cron jobs?

In Visual Basic how do you create a block comment

There is no block comment in VB.NET.

You need to use a ' in front of every line you want to comment out.

In Visual Studio you can use the keyboard shortcuts that will comment/uncomment the selected lines for you:

Ctrl + K, C to comment

Ctrl + K, U to uncomment

How to print Unicode character in C++?

Ultimately, this is completely platform-dependent. Unicode-support is, unfortunately, very poor in Standard C++. For GCC, you will have to make it a narrow string, as they use UTF-8, and Windows wants a wide string, and you must output to wcout.

// GCC
std::cout << "?";
// Windoze
wcout << L"?";

How to read a single char from the console in Java (as the user types it)?

There is no portable way to read raw characters from a Java console.

Some platform-dependent workarounds have been presented above. But to be really portable, you'd have to abandon console mode and use a windowing mode, e.g. AWT or Swing.

How to read response headers in angularjs?

Why not simply try this:

var promise = $http.get(url, {
    params: query
}).then(function(response) {
  console.log('Content-Range: ' + response.headers('Content-Range'));
  return response.data;
});

Especially if you want to return the promise so it could be a part of a promises chain.

What is the Sign Off feature in Git for?

Sign-off is a line at the end of the commit message which certifies who is the author of the commit. Its main purpose is to improve tracking of who did what, especially with patches.

Example commit:

Add tests for the payment processor.

Signed-off-by: Humpty Dumpty <[email protected]>

It should contain the user real name if used for an open-source project.

If branch maintainer need to slightly modify patches in order to merge them, he could ask the submitter to rediff, but it would be counter-productive. He can adjust the code and put his sign-off at the end so the original author still gets credit for the patch.

Add tests for the payment processor.

[Project Maintainer: Renamed test methods according to naming convention.]

How can I limit the visible options in an HTML <select> dropdown?

A minor but important modification to existing solutions aiming at preserving framework styling (i.e. Bootstrap): replace this.size=0 with this.removeAttribute('size').

<select class="custom-select" onmousedown="if(this.options.length>5){this.size=5}"
    onchange='this.blur()' onblur="this.removeAttribute('size')">
    <option>option1</option>
    <option>option2</option>
    <option>option3</option>
    <option>option4</option>
    <option>option5</option>
    <option>option6</option>
    <option>option7</option>
</select>
