JQuery get all elements by class name

With the code in the question, you're only dealing interacting with the first of the four entries returned by that selector.

Code below as a fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/c4nhpqgb/

I want to be overly clear that you have four items that matched that selector, so you need to deal with each explicitly. Using eq() is a little more explicit making this point than the answers using map, though map or each is what you'd probably use "in real life" (jquery docs for eq here).

<html>
    <head>
        <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.1/jquery.min.js" ></script>
    </head>

    <body>
        <div class="mbox">Block One</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Two</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Three</div>
        <div class="mbox">Block Four</div>

        <div id="outige"></div>
        <script>
            // using the $ prefix to use the "jQuery wrapped var" convention
            var i, $mvar = $('.mbox');

            // convenience method to display unprocessed html on the same page
            function logit( string )
            {
                var text = document.createTextNode( string );
                $('#outige').append(text);
                $('#outige').append("<br>");
            }

            logit($mvar.length);

            for (i=0; i<$mvar.length; i++)    {
                logit($mvar.eq(i).html());
            }
        </script>
    </body>

</html>

Output from logit calls (after the initial four div's display):

4
Block One
Block Two
Block Three
Block Four

Get Selected value of a Combobox

element not interactable exception in selenium web automation

Try setting an implicit wait of maybe 10 seconds.

gmail.manage().timeouts().implicitlyWait(10, TimeUnit.SECONDS);

Or set an explicit wait. An explicit waits is code you define to wait for a certain condition to occur before proceeding further in the code. In your case, it is the visibility of the password input field. (Thanks to ainlolcat's comment)

WebDriver gmail= new ChromeDriver();
gmail.get("https://www.gmail.co.in");
gmail.findElement(By.id("Email")).sendKeys("abcd");
gmail.findElement(By.id("next")).click();
WebDriverWait wait = new WebDriverWait(gmail, 10);
WebElement element = wait.until(
ExpectedConditions.visibilityOfElementLocated(By.id("Passwd")));
gmail.findElement(By.id("Passwd")).sendKeys("xyz");

Explanation: The reason selenium can't find the element is because the id of the password input field is initially Passwd-hidden. After you click on the "Next" button, Google first verifies the email address entered and then shows the password input field (by changing the id from Passwd-hidden to Passwd). So, when the password field is still hidden (i.e. Google is still verifying the email id), your webdriver starts searching for the password input field with id Passwd which is still hidden. And hence, an exception is thrown.

Executing JavaScript after X seconds

I believe you are looking for the setTimeout function.

To make your code a little neater, define a separate function for onclick in a <script> block:

function myClick() {
  setTimeout(
    function() {
      document.getElementById('div1').style.display='none';
      document.getElementById('div2').style.display='none';
    }, 5000);
}

then call your function from onclick

onclick="myClick();"

Foreach in a Foreach in MVC View

You have:

foreach (var category in Model.Categories)

and then

@foreach (var product in Model)

Based on that view and model it seems that Model is of type Product if yes then the second foreach is not valid. Actually the first one could be the one that is invalid if you return a collection of Product.

UPDATE:

You are right, I am returning the model of type Product. Also, I do understand what is wrong now that you've pointed it out. How am I supposed to do what I'm trying to do then if I can't do it this way?

I'm surprised your code compiles when you said you are returning a model of Product type. Here's how you can do it:

@foreach (var category in Model)
{
    <h3><u>@category.Name</u></h3>

    <div>
        <ul>
            @foreach (var product in category.Products)
            {
                <li>
                    put the rest of your code
                </li>
            }
        </ul>
    </div>
}

That suggest that instead of returning a Product, you return a collection of Category with Products. Something like this in EF:

// I am typing it here directly
// so I'm not sure if this is the correct syntax.
// I assume you know how to do this,
// anyway this should give you an idea.
context.Categories.Include(o=>o.Product)

How to maintain state after a page refresh in React.js?

Load state from localStorage if exist:

constructor(props) {
    super(props);
    this.state = JSON.parse(localStorage.getItem('state'))
        ? JSON.parse(localStorage.getItem('state'))
        : initialState

override this.setState to automatically save state after each update :

const orginial = this.setState;
this.setState = function() {
    let arguments0 = arguments[0];
    let arguments1 = () => (arguments[1], localStorage.setItem('state', JSON.stringify(this.state)));
    orginial.bind(this)(arguments0, arguments1);
};

Visual Studio: Relative Assembly References Paths

Probably, the easiest way to achieve this is to simply add the reference to the assembly and then (manually) patch the textual representation of the reference in the corresponding Visual Studio project file (extension .csproj) such that it becomes relative.

I've done this plenty of times in VS 2005 without any problems.

How to delete node from XML file using C#

You can use Linq to XML to do this:

XDocument doc = XDocument.Load("input.xml");
var q = from node in doc.Descendants("Setting")
        let attr = node.Attribute("name")
        where attr != null && attr.Value == "File1"
        select node;
q.ToList().ForEach(x => x.Remove());
doc.Save("output.xml");

Difference between <input type='button' /> and <input type='submit' />

IE 8 actually uses the first button it encounters submit or button. Instead of easily indicating which is desired by making it a input type=submit the order on the page is actually significant.

Docker and securing passwords

Definitely it is a concern. Dockerfiles are commonly checked in to repositories and shared with other people. An alternative is to provide any credentials (usernames, passwords, tokens, anything sensitive) as environment variables at runtime. This is possible via the -e argument (for individual vars on the CLI) or --env-file argument (for multiple variables in a file) to docker run. Read this for using environmental with docker-compose.

Using --env-file is definitely a safer option since this protects against the secrets showing up in ps or in logs if one uses set -x.

However, env vars are not particularly secure either. They are visible via docker inspect, and hence they are available to any user that can run docker commands. (Of course, any user that has access to docker on the host also has root anyway.)

My preferred pattern is to use a wrapper script as the ENTRYPOINT or CMD. The wrapper script can first import secrets from an outside location in to the container at run time, then execute the application, providing the secrets. The exact mechanics of this vary based on your run time environment. In AWS, you can use a combination of IAM roles, the Key Management Service, and S3 to store encrypted secrets in an S3 bucket. Something like HashiCorp Vault or credstash is another option.

AFAIK there is no optimal pattern for using sensitive data as part of the build process. In fact, I have an SO question on this topic. You can use docker-squash to remove layers from an image. But there's no native functionality in Docker for this purpose.

You may find shykes comments on config in containers useful.

When to use DataContract and DataMember attributes?

Since a lot of programmers were overwhelmed with the [DataContract] and [DataMember] attributes, with .NET 3.5 SP1, Microsoft made the data contract serializer handle all classes - even without any of those attributes - much like the old XML serializer.

So as of .NET 3.5 SP1, you don't have to add data contract or data member attributes anymore - if you don't then the data contract serializer will serialize all public properties on your class, just like the XML serializer would.

HOWEVER: by not adding those attributes, you lose a lot of useful capabilities:

  • without [DataContract], you cannot define an XML namespace for your data to live in
  • without [DataMember], you cannot serialize non-public properties or fields
  • without [DataMember], you cannot define an order of serialization (Order=) and the DCS will serialize all properties alphabetically
  • without [DataMember], you cannot define a different name for your property (Name=)
  • without [DataMember], you cannot define things like IsRequired= or other useful attributes
  • without [DataMember], you cannot leave out certain public properties - all public properties will be serialized by the DCS

So for a "quick'n'dirty" solution, leaving away the [DataContract] and [DataMember] attributes will work - but it's still a good idea to have them on your data classes - just to be more explicit about what you're doing, and to give yourself access to all those additional features that you don't get without them...

Loading a properties file from Java package

  static {
    loadProperties();
}

   private static void loadProperties() {
    prop = new Properties();

            .getResourceAsStream("test.properties");
    try {
        prop.load(in);
        in.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }

How to improve performance of ngRepeat over a huge dataset (angular.js)?

The hottest - and arguably most scalable - approach to overcoming these challenges with large datasets is embodied by the approach of Ionic's collectionRepeat directive and of other implementations like it. A fancy term for this is 'occlusion culling', but you can sum it up as: don't just limit the count of rendered DOM elements to an arbitrary (but still high) paginated number like 50, 100, 500... instead, limit only to as many elements as the user can see.

If you do something like what's commonly known as "infinite scrolling", you're reducing the initial DOM count somewhat, but it bloats quickly after a couple refreshes, because all those new elements are just tacked on at the bottom. Scrolling comes to a crawl, because scrolling is all about element count. There's nothing infinite about it.

Whereas, the collectionRepeat approach is to use only as many elements as will fit in viewport, and then recycle them. As one element rotates out of view, it's detached from the render tree, refilled with data for a new item in the list, then reattached to the render tree at the other end of the list. This is the fastest way known to man to get new information in and out of the DOM, making use of a limited set of existing elements, rather than the traditional cycle of create/destroy... create/destroy. Using this approach, you can truly implement an infinite scroll.

Note that you don't have to use Ionic to use/hack/adapt collectionRepeat, or any other tool like it. That's why they call it open-source. :-) (That said, the Ionic team is doing some pretty ingenious things, worthy of your attention.)

There's at least one excellent example of doing something very similar in React. Only instead of recycling the elements with updated content, you're simply choosing not to render anything in the tree that's not in view. It's blazing fast on 5000 items, although their very simple POC implementation allows a bit of flicker...

Also... to echo some of the other posts, using track by is seriously helpful, even with smaller datasets. Consider it mandatory.

Rails where condition using NOT NIL

It's not a bug in ARel, it's a bug in your logic.

What you want here is:

Foo.includes(:bar).where(Bar.arel_table[:id].not_eq(nil))

What is the difference between bindParam and bindValue?

From the manual entry for PDOStatement::bindParam:

[With bindParam] Unlike PDOStatement::bindValue(), the variable is bound as a reference and will only be evaluated at the time that PDOStatement::execute() is called.

So, for example:

$sex = 'male';
$s = $dbh->prepare('SELECT name FROM students WHERE sex = :sex');
$s->bindParam(':sex', $sex); // use bindParam to bind the variable
$sex = 'female';
$s->execute(); // executed with WHERE sex = 'female'

or

$sex = 'male';
$s = $dbh->prepare('SELECT name FROM students WHERE sex = :sex');
$s->bindValue(':sex', $sex); // use bindValue to bind the variable's value
$sex = 'female';
$s->execute(); // executed with WHERE sex = 'male'

Shortest way to check for null and assign another value if not

To assign a non-empty variable without repeating the actual variable name (and without assigning anything if variable is null!), you can use a little helper method with a Action parameter:

public static void CallIfNonEmpty(string value, Action<string> action)
{
    if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(value))
        action(value);
}

And then just use it:

CallIfNonEmpty(this.approved_by, (s) => planRec.approved_by = s);

Send file via cURL from form POST in PHP

For people finding this post and using PHP5.5+, this might help.

I was finding the approach suggested by netcoder wasn't working. i.e. this didn't work:

$tmpfile = $_FILES['image']['tmp_name'];
$filename = basename($_FILES['image']['name']);
$data = array(
    'uploaded_file' => '@'.$tmpfile.';filename='.$filename,
);
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);

I would receive in the $_POST var the 'uploaded_file' field - and nothing in the $_FILES var.

It turns out that for php5.5+ there is a new curl_file_create() function you need to use. So the above would become:

$data = array(
    'uploaded_file' => curl_file_create($tmpfile, $_FILES['image']['type'], $filename)
);

As the @ format is now deprecated.

How do I make a Git commit in the past?

You can create the commit as usual, but when you commit, set the environment variables GIT_AUTHOR_DATE and GIT_COMMITTER_DATE to the appropriate datetimes.

Of course, this will make the commit at the tip of your branch (i.e., in front of the current HEAD commit). If you want to push it back farther in the repo, you have to get a bit fancy. Let's say you have this history:

o--o--o--o--o

And you want your new commit (marked as "X") to appear second:

o--X--o--o--o--o

The easiest way would be to branch from the first commit, add your new commit, then rebase all other commits on top of the new one. Like so:

$ git checkout -b new_commit $desired_parent_of_new_commit
$ git add new_file
$ GIT_AUTHOR_DATE='your date' GIT_COMMITTER_DATE='your date' git commit -m 'new (old) files'
$ git checkout master
$ git rebase new_commit
$ git branch -d new_commit

Checking if an object is a number in C#

Take advantage of the IsPrimitive property to make a handy extension method:

public static bool IsNumber(this object obj)
{
    if (Equals(obj, null))
    {
        return false;
    }

    Type objType = obj.GetType();
    objType = Nullable.GetUnderlyingType(objType) ?? objType;

    if (objType.IsPrimitive)
    {
        return objType != typeof(bool) &&
            objType != typeof(char) &&
            objType != typeof(IntPtr) &&
            objType != typeof(UIntPtr);
    }

    return objType == typeof(decimal);
}

EDIT: Fixed as per comments. The generics were removed since .GetType() boxes value types. Also included fix for nullable values.

C# Generics and Type Checking

    ...
}

How to prevent SIGPIPEs (or handle them properly)

You generally want to ignore the SIGPIPE and handle the error directly in your code. This is because signal handlers in C have many restrictions on what they can do.

The most portable way to do this is to set the SIGPIPE handler to SIG_IGN. This will prevent any socket or pipe write from causing a SIGPIPE signal.

To ignore the SIGPIPE signal, use the following code:

signal(SIGPIPE, SIG_IGN);

If you're using the send() call, another option is to use the MSG_NOSIGNAL option, which will turn the SIGPIPE behavior off on a per call basis. Note that not all operating systems support the MSG_NOSIGNAL flag.

Lastly, you may also want to consider the SO_SIGNOPIPE socket flag that can be set with setsockopt() on some operating systems. This will prevent SIGPIPE from being caused by writes just to the sockets it is set on.

VBA: activating/selecting a worksheet/row/cell

This is just a sample code, but it may help you get on your way:

Public Sub testIt()
    Workbooks("Workbook2").Activate
    ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Sheet2").Activate
    ActiveSheet.Range("B3").Select
    ActiveCell.EntireRow.Insert
End Sub

I am assuming that you can open the book (called Workbook2 in the example).

I think (but I'm not sure) you can squash all this in a single line of code:

    Workbooks("Workbook2").Sheets("Sheet2").Range("B3").EntireRow.Insert

This way you won't need to activate the workbook (or sheet or cell)... Obviously, the book has to be open.

Getting a count of rows in a datatable that meet certain criteria

Try this

int numberOfRecords = dtFoo.Select("IsActive = 'Y'").Count<DataRow>();
Console.WriteLine("Count: " + numberOfRecords.ToString());

Remove excess whitespace from within a string

You can use:

$str = trim(str_replace("  ", " ", $str));

This removes extra whitespaces from both sides of string and converts two spaces to one within the string. Note that this won't convert three or more spaces in a row to one! Another way I can suggest is using implode and explode that is safer but totally not optimum!

$str = implode(" ", array_filter(explode(" ", $str)));

My suggestion is using a native for loop or using regex to do this kind of job.

Sending a mail from a linux shell script

On linux, mail utility can be used to send attachment with option "-a". Go through man pages to read about the option. For eg following code will send an attachment :

mail -s "THIS IS SUBJECT" -a attachment.txt [email protected] <<< "Hi Buddy, Please find failure reports."

In Java, how do I check if a string contains a substring (ignoring case)?

You can use the toLowerCase() method:

public boolean contains( String haystack, String needle ) {
  haystack = haystack == null ? "" : haystack;
  needle = needle == null ? "" : needle;

  // Works, but is not the best.
  //return haystack.toLowerCase().indexOf( needle.toLowerCase() ) > -1

  return haystack.toLowerCase().contains( needle.toLowerCase() )
}

Then call it using:

if( contains( str1, str2 ) ) {
  System.out.println( "Found " + str2 + " within " + str1 + "." );
}

Notice that by creating your own method, you can reuse it. Then, when someone points out that you should use contains instead of indexOf, you have only a single line of code to change.

How can I fix the form size in a C# Windows Forms application and not to let user change its size?

I'm pretty sure this isn't the BEST way, but you could set the MinimumSize and MaximimSize properties to the same value. That will stop it.

How to change the Content of a <textarea> with JavaScript

If you can use jQuery, and I highly recommend you do, you would simply do

$('#myTextArea').val('');

Otherwise, it is browser dependent. Assuming you have

var myTextArea = document.getElementById('myTextArea');

In most browsers you do

myTextArea.innerHTML = '';

But in Firefox, you do

myTextArea.innerText = '';

Figuring out what browser the user is using is left as an exercise for the reader. Unless you use jQuery, of course ;)

Edit: I take that back. Looks like support for .innerHTML on textarea's has improved. I tested in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, all of them cleared the textarea correctly.

Edit 2: And I just checked, if you use .val('') in jQuery, it just sets the .value property for textarea's. So .value should be fine.

Extending from two classes

Angular 2 Scroll to bottom (Chat style)

After reading other solutions, the best solution I can think of, so you run only what you need is the following: You use ngOnChanges to detect the proper change

ngOnChanges() {
  if (changes.messages) {
      let chng = changes.messages;
      let cur  = chng.currentValue;
      let prev = chng.previousValue;
      if(cur && prev) {
        // lazy load case
        if (cur[0].id != prev[0].id) {
          this.lazyLoadHappened = true;
        }
        // new message
        if (cur[cur.length -1].id != prev[prev.length -1].id) {
          this.newMessageHappened = true;
        }
      }
    }

}

And you use ngAfterViewChecked to actually enforce the change before it renders but after the full height is calculated

ngAfterViewChecked(): void {
    if(this.newMessageHappened) {
      this.scrollToBottom();
      this.newMessageHappened = false;
    }
    else if(this.lazyLoadHappened) {
      // keep the same scroll
      this.lazyLoadHappened = false
    }
  }

If you are wondering how to implement scrollToBottom

@ViewChild('scrollWrapper') private scrollWrapper: ElementRef;
scrollToBottom(){
    try {
      this.scrollWrapper.nativeElement.scrollTop = this.scrollWrapper.nativeElement.scrollHeight;
    } catch(err) { }
  }

Replace text in HTML page with jQuery

Check out Padolsey's article on DOM find and replace, as well as the library to implement the described algorithm.

In this sample usage, I replace all text inside a <div id="content"> that looks like a US telephone number with a tel: scheme link:

findAndReplaceDOMText(document.getElementById('content'), {
    find:/\b(\d\d\d-\d\d\d-\d\d\d\d)\b/g,
    replace:function (portion) {
        var a = document.createElement('a');
        a.className = 'telephone';
        a.href = 'tel:' + portion.text.replace(/\D/g, '');
        a.textContent = portion.text;
        return a;
    }
});

When you read() the file, you may get a newline character '\n' in your string. Try either

if UserInput.strip() == 'List contents':

or

Also note that your second file open could also use with:

with open('/Users/.../USER_INPUT.txt', 'w+') as UserInputFile:     if UserInput.strip() == 'List contents': # or if s in f:         UserInputFile.write("ls")     else:         print "Didn't work"

Is there way to use two PHP versions in XAMPP?

I would recommend using Docker, this allows you to split the environment into various components and mix and match the ones you want at any time.

Docker will allow you to run one container with MySQL, another with PHP. As they are separate images you can have two containers, one PHP 5 another PHP 7, you start up which ever one you wish and port 80 can be mapped to both containers.

https://hub.docker.com has a wide range of preconfigured images which you can install and run without much hassle.

I've also added portainer as an image, which allows you to manage the various aspects of your docker setup - from within a docker image (I did start this container on startup to save me having to use the command line). It doesn't do everything for you and sometimes it's easier to configure and launch the images for the first time from the command line, but once setup you can start and stop them through a web interface.

It's also possible to run both containers at the same time and map separate ports to each. So port 80 can be mapped to PHP 5 and 81 to PHP 81 (Or PHP 7 if your watching this in 2017).

There are various tutorials on how to install Docker( https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation/) and loads of other 'how to' type things. Try http://www.masterzendframework.com/docker-development-environment/ for a development environment configuration.

HTML form do some "action" when hit submit button

Ok, I'll take a stab at this. If you want to work with PHP, you will need to install and configure both PHP and a webserver on your machine. This article might get you started: PHP Manual: Installation on Windows systems

Once you have your environment setup, you can start working with webforms. Directly From the article: Processing form data with PHP:

For this example you will need to create two pages. On the first page we will create a simple HTML form to collect some data. Here is an example:

<html>
<head>
 <title>Test Page</title>
</head>
<body>
    <h2>Data Collection</h2><p>
    <form action="process.php" method="post">
        <table>
            <tr>
                <td>Name:</td>
                <td><input type="text" name="Name"/></td>
            </tr>
            <tr>
                <td>Age:</td>
                <td><input type="text" name="Age"/></td>
            </tr>
            <tr>
                <td colspan="2" align="center">
                <input type="submit"/>
                </td>
            </tr>
        </table>
    </form>
</body>
</html>

This page will send the Name and Age data to the page process.php. Now lets create process.php to use the data from the HTML form we made:

<?php
    print "Your name is ". $Name;
    print "<br />";
    print "You are ". $Age . " years old";
    print "<br />";   $old = 25 + $Age;
    print "In 25 years you will be " . $old . " years old";
?>

As you may be aware, if you leave out the method="post" part of the form, the URL with show the data. For example if your name is Bill Jones and you are 35 years old, our process.php page will display as http://yoursite.com/process.php?Name=Bill+Jones&Age=35 If you want, you can manually change the URL in this way and the output will change accordingly.

Additional JavaScript Example

This single file example takes the html from your question and ties the onSubmit event of the form to a JavaScript function that pulls the values of the 2 textboxes and displays them in an alert box.

Note: document.getElementById("fname").value gets the object with the ID tag that equals fname and then pulls it's value - which in this case is the text in the First Name textbox.

 <html>
    <head>
     <script type="text/javascript">
     function ExampleJS(){
        var jFirst = document.getElementById("fname").value;
        var jLast = document.getElementById("lname").value;
        alert("Your name is: " + jFirst + " " + jLast);
     }
     </script>

    </head>
    <body>
        <FORM NAME="myform" onSubmit="JavaScript:ExampleJS()">

             First name: <input type="text" id="fname" name="firstname" /><br />
             Last name:  <input type="text" id="lname" name="lastname" /><br />
            <input name="Submit"  type="submit" value="Update" />
        </FORM>
    </body>
</html>

show/hide a div on hover and hover out

You could use jQuery to show the div, and set it at wherever your mouse is:

html:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

  <head>
    <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" />
    <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.3.1.min.js"></script>
  </head>

  <body>
    <div id="trigger">
      <h1>Hover me!</h1>
      <p>Ill show you wonderful things</p>
    </div>
    <div id="secret">
     shhhh
    </div>
    <script src="script.js"></script>
  </body>

</html>

styles:

#trigger {
  border: 1px solid black;
}
#secret {
  display:none;
  top:0;
  position:absolute;
  background: grey;
  color:white;
  width: 50%;
}

js:

$("#trigger").hover(function(e){
    $("#secret").show().css('top', e.pageY + "px").css('left', e.pageX + "px");
  },function(e){
    $("#secret").hide()
})

How to change Windows 10 interface language on Single Language version

Actually, it looks like you may be able to download language packs directly through Windows Update. Open the old Control Panel by pressing WinKey+X and clicking Control Panel. Then go to Clock, Language, and Region > Add a language. Add the desired language. Then under the language it should say "Windows display language: Available". Click "Options" and then "Download and install language pack."

I'm not sure why this functionality appears to be less accessible than it was in Windows 8.

ASP.NET MVC Return Json Result?

It should be :

public async Task<ActionResult> GetSomeJsonData()
{
    var model = // ... get data or build model etc.

    return Json(new { Data = model }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}

or more simply:

return Json(model, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);

I did notice that you are calling GetResources() from another ActionResult which wont work. If you are looking to get JSON back, you should be calling GetResources() from ajax directly...

It is probably too late, but for the sake of others (like me) who faced the same problem. It is all about the little '\' at the end of the path variable. Extract digits from string - StringUtils Java

You can also use java.util.Scanner:

new Scanner(str).useDelimiter("[^\\d]+").nextInt()

You can use next() instead of nextInt() to get the digits as string.

You can check for the presence of number using hasNextInt() on the Scanner.

How can I install a .ipa file to my iPhone simulator

First of all, IPAs usually only have ARM slices because the App Store does not currently accept Simulator slices in uploads.

Secondly, as of Xcode 8.3 you can drag & drop a .app bundle into the Simulator window and it will be installed. You can find the app in your build products directory ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/projectname-xyzzyabcdefg/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator if you want to save it or distribute it to other people.

To install from the command line use xcrun simctl install <device> <path>.

device can be the device UUID, its name, or booted which means the currently booted device.

When should I use mmap for file access?

mmap has the advantage when you have random access on big files. Another advantage is that you access it with memory operations (memcpy, pointer arithmetic), without bothering with the buffering. Normal I/O can sometimes be quite difficult when using buffers when you have structures bigger than your buffer. The code to handle that is often difficult to get right, mmap is generally easier. This said, there are certain traps when working with mmap. As people have already mentioned, mmap is quite costly to set up, so it is worth using only for a given size (varying from machine to machine).

For pure sequential accesses to the file, it is also not always the better solution, though an appropriate call to madvise can mitigate the problem.

You have to be careful with alignment restrictions of your architecture(SPARC, itanium), with read/write IO the buffers are often properly aligned and do not trap when dereferencing a casted pointer.

You also have to be careful that you do not access outside of the map. It can easily happen if you use string functions on your map, and your file does not contain a \0 at the end. It will work most of the time when your file size is not a multiple of the page size as the last page is filled with 0 (the mapped area is always in the size of a multiple of your page size).

How to check python anaconda version installed on Windows 10 PC?

The folder containing your Anaconda installation contains a subfolder called conda-meta with json files for all installed packages, including one for Anaconda itself. Look for anaconda-<version>-<build>.json.

My file is called anaconda-5.0.1-py27hdb50712_1.json, and at the bottom is more info about the version:

"installed_by": "Anaconda2-5.0.1-Windows-x86_64.exe",
"link": { "source": "C:\\ProgramData\\Anaconda2\\pkgs\\anaconda-5.0.1-py27hdb50712_1" },

"url": "https://repo.continuum.io/pkgs/main/win-64/anaconda-5.0.1-py27hdb50712_1.tar.bz2",
"version": "5.0.1"

(Slightly edited for brevity.)

The output from conda -V is the conda version.

How do you generate dynamic (parameterized) unit tests in Python?

Following is my solution. I find this useful when:

  1. Should work for unittest.Testcase and unittest discover

  2. Have a set of tests to be run for different parameter settings.

  3. Very simple and no dependency on other packages

     import unittest

     class BaseClass(unittest.TestCase):
         def setUp(self):
             self.param = 2
             self.base = 2

         def test_me(self):
             self.assertGreaterEqual(5, self.param+self.base)

         def test_me_too(self):
             self.assertLessEqual(3, self.param+self.base)

      class Child_One(BaseClass):
         def setUp(self):
             BaseClass.setUp(self)
             self.param = 4

Node.js - get raw request body using Express

I got a solution that plays nice with bodyParser, using the verify callback in bodyParser. In this code, I am using it to get a sha1 of the content and also getting the raw body.

app.use(bodyParser.json({
    verify: function(req, res, buf, encoding) {

        // sha1 content
        var hash = crypto.createHash('sha1');
        hash.update(buf);
        req.hasha = hash.digest('hex');
        console.log("hash", req.hasha);

        // get rawBody
        req.rawBody = buf.toString();
        console.log("rawBody", req.rawBody);

    }
}));

I am new in Node.js and express.js (started yesterday, literally!) so I'd like to hear comments on this solution.

How to Execute SQL Script File in Java?

There is great way of executing SQL scripts from Java without reading them yourself as long as you don't mind having a dependency on Ant. In my opinion such a dependency is very well justified in your case. Here is sample code, where SQLExec class lives in ant.jar:

private void executeSql(String sqlFilePath) {
    final class SqlExecuter extends SQLExec {
        public SqlExecuter() {
            Project project = new Project();
            project.init();
            setProject(project);
            setTaskType("sql");
            setTaskName("sql");
        }
    }

    SqlExecuter executer = new SqlExecuter();
    executer.setSrc(new File(sqlFilePath));
    executer.setDriver(args.getDriver());
    executer.setPassword(args.getPwd());
    executer.setUserid(args.getUser());
    executer.setUrl(args.getUrl());
    executer.execute();

Make <body> fill entire screen?

As none of the other answers worked for me, I decided to post this as an answer for others looking for a solution who also found the same problem. Both the html and body needed to be set with min-height or the gradient would not fill the body height.

I found Stephen P's comment to provide the correct answer to this.

html {
    /* To make use of full height of page*/
    min-height: 100%;
    margin: 0;
}
body {
    min-height: 100%;
    margin: 0;
}

background filling body height

When I have the html (or the html and body) height set to 100%,

html {
    height: 100%;
    margin: 0;
}
body {
    min-height: 100%;

How to store Node.js deployment settings/configuration files?

It's better to separate 'development' and 'production' configs.

I use following way: Here is my config/index.js file:

const config = {
    dev : {
        ip_address : '0.0.0.0',
        port : 8080,
        mongo :{
            url : "mongodb://localhost:27017/story_box_dev",
            options : ""
        }
    },
    prod : {
        ip_address : '0.0.0.0',
        port : 3000,
        mongo :{
            url : "mongodb://localhost:27017/story_box_prod",
            options : ""
        }
    }
}

For require the config use following:

const config = require('../config')[process.env.NODE_ENV];

Than you can use your config object:

const ip_address = config.ip_address;
const port = config.port;

How to add a color overlay to a background image?

You can use a pseudo element to create the overlay.

.testclass {
  background-image: url("../img/img.jpg");
  position: relative;
}
.testclass:before {
  content: "";
  position: absolute;
  left: 0; right: 0;
  top: 0; bottom: 0;
  background: rgba(0,0,0,.5);
}

Android, How to read QR code in my application?

I've created a simple example tutorial. You can read this and use in your application.

http://ribinsandroidhelper.blogspot.in/2013/03/qr-code-reading-on-your-application.html

Through this link you can download the qrcode library project and import into your workspace and add library to your project

and copy this code to your activity

 Intent intent = new Intent("com.google.zxing.client.android.SCAN");
 startActivityForResult(intent, 0);

 public void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent intent) {
     if (requestCode == 0) {
         if (resultCode == RESULT_OK) {
             String contents = intent.getStringExtra("SCAN_RESULT");
             String format = intent.getStringExtra("SCAN_RESULT_FORMAT");
             Toast.makeText(this, contents,Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
             // Handle successful scan
         } else if (resultCode == RESULT_CANCELED) {
             //Handle cancel
         }
     }
}

Getting visitors country from their IP

I am using ipinfodb.com api and getting exactly what you are looking for.

Its completely free, you just need to register with them to get your api key. You can include their php class by downloading from their website or you can use url format to retrieve information.

Here's what I am doing:

I included their php class in my script and using the below code:

$ipLite = new ip2location_lite;
$ipLite->setKey('your_api_key');
if(!$_COOKIE["visitorCity"]){ //I am using cookie to store information
  $visitorCity = $ipLite->getCity($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']);
  if ($visitorCity['statusCode'] == 'OK') {
    $data = base64_encode(serialize($visitorCity));
    setcookie("visitorCity", $data, time()+3600*24*7); //set cookie for 1 week
  }
}
$visitorCity = unserialize(base64_decode($_COOKIE["visitorCity"]));
echo $visitorCity['countryName'].' Region'.$visitorCity['regionName'];

Thats it.

Accessing last x characters of a string in Bash

1. Generalized Substring

To generalise the question and the answer of gniourf_gniourf (as this is what I was searching for), if you want to cut a range of characters from, say, 7th from the end to 3rd from the end, you can use this syntax:

${string: -7:4}

Where 4 is the length of course (7-3).

2. Alternative using cut

In addition, while the solution of gniourf_gniourf is obviously the best and neatest, I just wanted to add an alternative solution using cut:

echo $string | cut -c $((${#string}-2))-

Here, ${#string} is the length of the string, and the "-" means cut to the end.

3. Alternative using awk

This solution instead uses the substring function of awk to select a substring which has the syntax substr(string, start, length) going to the end if the length is omitted. length($string)-2) thus picks up the last three characters.

echo $string | awk '{print substr($1,length($1)-2) }'

Best way of invoking getter by reflection

I think this should point you towards the right direction:

import java.beans.*

for (PropertyDescriptor pd : Introspector.getBeanInfo(Foo.class).getPropertyDescriptors()) {
  if (pd.getReadMethod() != null && !"class".equals(pd.getName()))
    System.out.println(pd.getReadMethod().invoke(foo));
}

Note that you could create BeanInfo or PropertyDescriptor instances yourself, i.e. without using Introspector. However, Introspector does some caching internally which is normally a Good Thing (tm). If you're happy without a cache, you can even go for

// TODO check for non-existing readMethod
Object value = new PropertyDescriptor("name", Person.class).getReadMethod().invoke(person);

However, there are a lot of libraries that extend and simplify the java.beans API. Commons BeanUtils is a well known example. There, you'd simply do:

Object value = PropertyUtils.getProperty(person, "name");

BeanUtils comes with other handy stuff. i.e. on-the-fly value conversion (object to string, string to object) to simplify setting properties from user input.

How to replace local branch with remote branch entirely in Git?

That's as easy as three steps:

  1. Delete your local branch: git branch -d local_branch
  2. Fetch the latest remote branch: git fetch origin remote_branch
  3. Rebuild the local branch based on the remote one: git checkout -b local_branch origin/remote_branch

Why does Node.js' fs.readFile() return a buffer instead of string?

It is returning a Buffer object.

If you want it in a string, you can convert it with data.toString():

var fs = require("fs");

fs.readFile("test.txt", function (err, data) {
    if (err) throw err;
    console.log(data.toString());
});

How to copy a map?

You have to manually copy each key/value pair to a new map. This is a loop that people have to reprogram any time they want a deep copy of a map.

You can automatically generate the function for this by installing mapper from the maps package using

go get -u github.com/drgrib/maps/cmd/mapper

and running

mapper -types string:aStruct

which will generate the file map_float_astruct.go containing not only a (deep) Copy for your map but also other "missing" map functions ContainsKey, ContainsValue, GetKeys, and GetValues:

func ContainsKeyStringAStruct(m map[string]aStruct, k string) bool {
    _, ok := m[k]
    return ok
}

func ContainsValueStringAStruct(m map[string]aStruct, v aStruct) bool {
    for _, mValue := range m {
        if mValue == v {
            return true
        }
    }

    return false
}

func GetKeysStringAStruct(m map[string]aStruct) []string {
    keys := []string{}

    for k, _ := range m {
        keys = append(keys, k)
    }

    return keys
}

func GetValuesStringAStruct(m map[string]aStruct) []aStruct {
    values := []aStruct{}

    for _, v := range m {
        values = append(values, v)
    }

    return values
}

func CopyStringAStruct(m map[string]aStruct) map[string]aStruct {
    copyMap := map[string]aStruct{}

    for k, v := range m {
        copyMap[k] = v
    }

    return copyMap
}

Full disclosure: I am the creator of this tool. I created it and its containing package because I found myself constantly rewriting these algorithms for the Go map for different type combinations.

What is the best way to connect and use a sqlite database from C#

Here I am trying to help you do the job step by step: (this may be the answer to other questions)

  1. Go to this address , down the page you can see something like "List of Release Packages". Based on your system and .net framework version choose the right one for you. for example if your want to use .NET Framework 4.6 on a 64-bit Windows, choose this version and download it.
  2. Then install the file somewhere on your hard drive, just like any other software.
  3. Open Visual studio and your project. Then in solution explorer, right-click on "References" and choose "add Reference...".
  4. Click the browse button and choose where you install the previous file and go to .../bin/System.Data.SQLite.dll and click add and then OK buttons.

that is pretty much it. now you can use SQLite in your project. to use it in your project on the code level you may use this below example code:

  1. make a connection string:

    string connectionString = @"URI=file:{the location of your sqlite database}";

  2. establish a sqlite connection:

    SQLiteConnection theConnection = new SQLiteConnection(connectionString );

  3. open the connection:

    theConnection.Open();

  4. create a sqlite command:

    SQLiteCommand cmd = new SQLiteCommand(theConnection);

  5. Make a command text, or better said your SQLite statement:

    cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO table_name(col1, col2) VALUES(val1, val2)";

  6. Execute the command

    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();

that is it.

Get protocol, domain, and port from URL

var http = location.protocol;
var slashes = http.concat("//");
var host = slashes.concat(window.location.hostname);

How to get the changes on a branch in Git

This is similar to the answer I posted on: Preview a Git push

Drop these functions into your Bash profile:

  • gbout - git branch outgoing
  • gbin - git branch incoming

You can use this like:

  • If on master: gbin branch1 <-- this will show you what's in branch1 and not in master
  • If on master: gbout branch1 <-- this will show you what's in master that's not in branch 1

This will work with any branch.

function parse_git_branch {
  git branch --no-color 2> /dev/null | sed -e '/^[^*]/d' -e 's/* \(.*\)/\1/'
}

function gbin {
    echo branch \($1\) has these commits and \($(parse_git_branch)\) does not
    git log ..$1 --no-merges --format='%h | Author:%an | Date:%ad | %s' --date=local
}

function gbout {
    echo branch \($(parse_git_branch)\) has these commits and \($1\) does not
    git log $1.. --no-merges --format='%h | Author:%an | Date:%ad | %s' --date=local
}

iterate through a map in javascript

Functional Approach for ES6+

If you want to take a more functional approach to iterating over the Map object, you can do something like this

const myMap = new Map()
myMap.forEach((value, key) => {
    console.log(value, key)
})

Maven: how to override the dependency added by a library

What you put inside the </dependencies> tag of the root pom will be included by all child modules of the root pom. If all your modules use that dependency, this is the way to go.

However, if only 3 out of 10 of your child modules use some dependency, you do not want this dependency to be included in all your child modules. In that case, you can just put the dependency inside the </dependencyManagement>. This will make sure that any child module that needs the dependency must declare it in their own pom file, but they will use the same version of that dependency as specified in your </dependencyManagement> tag.

You can also use the </dependencyManagement> to modify the version used in transitive dependencies, because the version declared in the upper most pom file is the one that will be used. This can be useful if your project A includes an external project B v1.0 that includes another external project C v1.0. Sometimes it happens that a security breach is found in project C v1.0 which is corrected in v1.1, but the developers of B are slow to update their project to use v1.1 of C. In that case, you can simply declare a dependency on C v1.1 in your project's root pom inside `, and everything will be good (assuming that B v1.0 will still be able to compile with C v1.1).

How to find the index of an element in an array in Java?

Very Heavily Edited. I think either you want this:

class CharStorage {
    /** set offset to 1 if you want b=1, o=2, y=3 instead of b=0... */
    private final int offset=0;
    private int array[]=new int[26];

    /** Call this with up to 26 characters to initialize the array. For
      * instance, if you pass "boy" it will init to b=0,o=1,y=2.
      */
    void init(String s) {
        for(int i=0;i<s.length;i++)
            store(s.charAt(i)-'a' + offset,i);
    }

    void store(char ch, int value) {
        if(ch < 'a' || ch > 'z') throw new IllegalArgumentException();
        array[ch-'a']=value;
    }

    int get(char ch) {
        if(ch < 'a' || ch > 'z') throw new IllegalArgumentException();
        return array[ch-'a'];
    }
}

(Note that you may have to adjust the init method if you want to use 1-26 instead of 0-25)

or you want this:

int getLetterPossitionInAlphabet(char c) {
    return c - 'a' + 1
}

The second is if you always want a=1, z=26. The first will let you put in a string like "qwerty" and assign q=0, w=1, e=2, r=3...

How to use Lambda in LINQ select statement

You appear to be trying to mix query expression syntax and "normal" lambda expression syntax. You can either use:

IEnumerable<SelectListItem> stores =
        from store in database.Stores
        where store.CompanyID == curCompany.ID
        select new SelectListItem { Value = store.Name, Text = store.ID};
ViewBag.storeSelector = stores;

Or:

IEnumerable<SelectListItem> stores = database.Stores
        .Where(store => store.CompanyID == curCompany.ID)
        .Select(s => new SelectListItem { Value = s.Name, Text = s.ID});
ViewBag.storeSelector = stores;

You can't mix the two like you're trying to.

How to install Android app on LG smart TV?

LG, VIZIO, SAMSUNG and PANASONIC TVs are not android based, and you cannot run APKs off of them... You should just buy a fire stick and call it a day. The only TVs that are android-based, and you can install APKs are: SONY, PHILIPS and SHARP.

What is the difference between a data flow diagram and a flow chart?

A flow chart details the processes to follow. A DFD details the flow of data through a system.

In a flow chart, the arrows represent transfer of control (not data) between elements and the elements are instructions or decision (or I/O, etc).

In a DFD, the arrows are actually data transfer between the elements, which are themselves parts of a system.

Wikipedia has a good article on DFDs here.

Make an existing Git branch track a remote branch?

Given a branch foo and a remote upstream:

As of Git 1.8.0:

git branch -u upstream/foo

Or, if local branch foo is not the current branch:

git branch -u upstream/foo foo

Or, if you like to type longer commands, these are equivalent to the above two:

git branch --set-upstream-to=upstream/foo

git branch --set-upstream-to=upstream/foo foo

As of Git 1.7.0 (before 1.8.0):

git branch --set-upstream foo upstream/foo

Notes:

  • All of the above commands will cause local branch foo to track remote branch foo from remote upstream.
  • The old (1.7.x) syntax is deprecated in favor of the new (1.8+) syntax. The new syntax is intended to be more intuitive and easier to remember.
  • Defining an upstream branch will fail when run against newly-created remotes that have not already been fetched. In that case, run git fetch upstream beforehand.

fitting data with numpy

Unfortunately, np.polynomial.polynomial.polyfit returns the coefficients in the opposite order of that for np.polyfit and np.polyval (or, as you used np.poly1d). To illustrate:

In [40]: np.polynomial.polynomial.polyfit(x, y, 4)
Out[40]:
array([  84.29340848, -100.53595376,   44.83281408,   -8.85931101,
          0.65459882])

In [41]: np.polyfit(x, y, 4)
Out[41]:
array([   0.65459882,   -8.859311  ,   44.83281407, -100.53595375,
         84.29340846])

In general: np.polynomial.polynomial.polyfit returns coefficients [A, B, C] to A + Bx + Cx^2 + ..., while np.polyfit returns: ... + Ax^2 + Bx + C.

So if you want to use this combination of functions, you must reverse the order of coefficients, as in:

ffit = np.polyval(coefs[::-1], x_new)

However, the documentation states clearly to avoid np.polyfit, np.polyval, and np.poly1d, and instead to use only the new(er) package.

You're safest to use only the polynomial package:

import numpy.polynomial.polynomial as poly

coefs = poly.polyfit(x, y, 4)
ffit = poly.polyval(x_new, coefs)
plt.plot(x_new, ffit)

Or, to create the polynomial function:

ffit = poly.Polynomial(coefs)    # instead of np.poly1d
plt.plot(x_new, ffit(x_new))

fit and data plot

Copy every nth line from one sheet to another

Create a macro and use the following code to grab the data and put it in a new sheet (Sheet2):

Dim strValue As String
Dim strCellNum As String
Dim x As String
x = 1

For i = 1 To 700 Step 7
    strCellNum = "A" & i
    strValue = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range(strCellNum).Value
    Debug.Print strValue
    Worksheets("Sheet2").Range("A" & x).Value = strValue
    x = x + 1

Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed. Check the SQL server error log for potential causes

Below worked for me:

When you come to Server Configuration Screen, Change the Account Name of Database Engine Service to NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE and continue installation and it will successfully install all components without any error. - See more at: https://superpctricks.com/sql-install-error-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed/

PHP form send email to multiple recipients

If these all answers are not working then You can simply use multiple mail function for multiple recipient.

$email_to1 = "[email protected]";
$email_to2 = "[email protected]";

mail($email_to1, $email_subject, $email_message, $headers);
mail($email_to2, $email_subject, $email_message, $headers);

Casting variables in Java

The right way is this:

Integer i = Integer.class.cast(obj);

The method cast() is a much safer alternative to compile-time casting.

qmake: could not find a Qt installation of ''

As Debian Qt's maintainer please allow me to suggest you to not use qtx-default. Please read qtchooser's man page, the solution is described there. If you are interested in packaging an app you can also take a look at this blog post I made explaining how to do it

# method 1
QT_SELECT=qt5 qmake

# method 2:
export QT_SELECT=qt5
qmake
... more qt commands here

# method 3:
make -qt5

To use Qt 4, just replace the qt5 with qt4

Update 20210202: starting from Debian 11 (bullseye) the packages qtx-default do not longer exist. Same goes for Ubuntu, but I don't know in which specific version. If you know of a package that still has the dependency (mostly non-Debian official packages) please file a bug. Same goes for Wiki pages, etc.

Filter Java Stream to 1 and only 1 element

For the sake of completeness, here is the ‘one-liner’ corresponding to @prunge’s excellent answer:

User user1 = users.stream()
        .filter(user -> user.getId() == 1)
        .reduce((a, b) -> {
            throw new IllegalStateException("Multiple elements: " + a + ", " + b);
        })
        .get();

This obtains the sole matching element from the stream, throwing

  • NoSuchElementException in case the stream is empty, or
  • IllegalStateException in case the stream contains more than one matching element.

A variation of this approach avoids throwing an exception early and instead represents the result as an Optional containing either the sole element, or nothing (empty) if there are zero or multiple elements:

Optional<User> user1 = users.stream()
        .filter(user -> user.getId() == 1)
        .collect(Collectors.reducing((a, b) -> null));

String replacement in java, similar to a velocity template

Take a look at the java.text.MessageFormat class, MessageFormat takes a set of objects, formats them, then inserts the formatted strings into the pattern at the appropriate places.

Object[] params = new Object[]{"hello", "!"};
String msg = MessageFormat.format("{0} world {1}", params);

Stretch Image to Fit 100% of Div Height and Width

You're mixing notations. It should be:

<img src="folder/file.jpg" width="200" height="200">

(note, no px). Or:

<img src="folder/file.jpg" style="width: 200px; height: 200px;">

(using the style attribute) The style attribute could be replaced with the following CSS:

#mydiv img {
    width: 200px;
    height: 200px;
}

or

#mydiv img {
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
}

Using the rJava package on Win7 64 bit with R

Update (July 2018):

The latest CRAN version of rJava will find the jvm.dll automatically, without manually setting the PATH or JAVA_HOME. However note that:

  • To use rJava in 32-bit R, you need Java for Windows x86
  • To use rJava in 64-bit R, you need Java for Windows x64
  • To build or check R packages with multi-arch (the default) you need to install both Java For Windows x64 as well as Java for Windows x86. On Win 64, the former installs in C:\Program files\Java\ and the latter in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\ so they do not conflict.

As of Java version 9, support for x86 (win32) has been discontinued. Hence the latest working multi-arch setup is to install both jdk-8u172-windows-i586.exe and jdk-8u172-windows-x64.exe and then the binary package from CRAN:

install.packages("rJava")

The binary package from CRAN should pick up on the jvm by itself. Experts only: to build rJava from source, you need the --merge-multiarch flag:

install.packages('rJava', type = 'source', INSTALL_opts='--merge-multiarch')

Old anwser:

(Note: many of folks in other answers/comments have said to remove JAVA_HOME, so consider that. I have not revisited this issue recently to know if all the steps below are still necessary.)

Here is some quick advice on how to get up and running with R + rJava on Windows 7 64bit. There are several possibilities, but most have fatal flaws. Here is what worked for me:

Add jvm.dll to your PATH

rJava, the R<->Java bridge, will need jvm.dll, but R will have trouble finding that DLL. It resides in a folder like

C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\jre\bin\server

or

C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\jre\bin\client

Wherever yours is, add that directory to your windows PATH variable. (Windows -> "Path" -> "Edit environment variables to for your account" -> PATH -> edit the value.)

You may already have Java on your PATH. If so you should find the client/server directory in the same Java "home" dir as the one already on your PATH.

To be safe, make sure your architectures match.If you have Java in Program Files, it is 64-bit, so you ought to run R64. If you have Java in Program Files (x86), that's 32-bit, so you use plain 32-bit R.

Re-launch R from the Windows Menu

If R is running, quit.

From the Start Menu , Start R / RGUI, RStudio. This is very important, to make R pick up your PATH changes.

Install rJava 0.9.2.

Earlier versions do not work! Mirrors are not up-to-date, so go to the source at www.rforge.net: http://www.rforge.net/rJava/files/. Note the advice there

“Please use

`install.packages('rJava',,'http://www.rforge.net/')`

to install.”

That is almost correct. This actually works:

install.packages('rJava', .libPaths()[1], 'http://www.rforge.net/')

Watch the punctuation! The mysterious “.libPaths()[1],” just tells R to install the package in the primary library directory. For some reason, leaving the value blank doesn’t work, even though it should default.

Using Colormaps to set color of line in matplotlib

U may do as I have written from my deleted account (ban for new posts :( there was). Its rather simple and nice looking.

Im using 3-rd one of these 3 ones usually, also I wasny checking 1 and 2 version.

from matplotlib.pyplot import cm
import numpy as np

#variable n should be number of curves to plot (I skipped this earlier thinking that it is obvious when looking at picture - sorry my bad mistake xD): n=len(array_of_curves_to_plot)
#version 1:

color=cm.rainbow(np.linspace(0,1,n))
for i,c in zip(range(n),color):
   ax1.plot(x, y,c=c)

#or version 2: - faster and better:

color=iter(cm.rainbow(np.linspace(0,1,n)))
c=next(color)
plt.plot(x,y,c=c)

#or version 3:

color=iter(cm.rainbow(np.linspace(0,1,n)))
for i in range(n):
   c=next(color)
   ax1.plot(x, y,c=c)

How can I check if a date is the same day as datetime.today()?

If you want to just compare dates,

yourdatetime.date() < datetime.today().date()

Or, obviously,

yourdatetime.date() == datetime.today().date()

If you want to check that they're the same date.

The documentation is usually helpful. It is also usually the first google result for python thing_i_have_a_question_about. Unless your question is about a function/module named "snake".

Basically, the datetime module has three types for storing a point in time:

  • date for year, month, day of month
  • time for hours, minutes, seconds, microseconds, time zone info
  • datetime combines date and time. It has the methods date() and time() to get the corresponding date and time objects, and there's a handy combine function to combine date and time into a datetime.

How do you setLayoutParams() for an ImageView?

You need to set the LayoutParams of the ViewGroup the ImageView is sitting in. For example if your ImageView is inside a LinearLayout, then you create a

LinearLayout.LayoutParams layoutParams = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(30, 30);
yourImageView.setLayoutParams(layoutParams);

This is because it's the parent of the View that needs to know what size to allocate to the View.

How to retrieve a recursive directory and file list from PowerShell excluding some files and folders?

Recently, I explored the possibilities to parameterize the folder to scan through and the place where the result of recursive scan will be stored. At the end, I also did summarize the number of folders scanned and number of files inside as well. Sharing it with community in case it may help other developers.

    ##Script Starts
    #read folder to scan and file location to be placed

    $whichFolder = Read-Host -Prompt 'Which folder to Scan?'
    $whereToPlaceReport = Read-Host -Prompt 'Where to place Report'
    $totalFolders = 1
    $totalFiles = 0

How do I install chkconfig on Ubuntu?

alias chkconfig=sysv-rc-conf
chkconfig --list

syntax

sysv-rc-conf command line usage:

        sysv-rc-conf --list [service name]
        sysv-rc-conf [--level <runlevels>] <service name> <on|off>

Example of waitpid() in use?

The syntax is

pid_t waitpid(pid_t pid, int *statusPtr, int options);

1.where pid is the process of the child it should wait.

2.statusPtr is a pointer to the location where status information for the terminating process is to be stored.

3.specifies optional actions for the waitpid function. Either of the following option flags may be specified, or they can be combined with a bitwise inclusive OR operator:

WNOHANG WUNTRACED WCONTINUED

If successful, waitpid returns the process ID of the terminated process whose status was reported. If unsuccessful, a -1 is returned.

benifits over wait

1.Waitpid can used when you have more than one child for the process and you want to wait for particular child to get its execution done before parent resumes

2.waitpid supports job control

3.it supports non blocking of the parent process

When to use RabbitMQ over Kafka?

Technically, Kafka offers a huge superset of features when compared to the set of features offered by Rabbit MQ.

If the question is

Is Rabbit MQ technically better than Kafka?

then the answer is

No.

However, if the question is

Is Rabbit MQ better than Kafka from a business perspective?

then, the answer is

Probably 'Yes', in some business scenarios

Rabbit MQ can be better than Kafka, from a business perspective, for the following reasons:

  1. Maintenance of legacy applications that depend on Rabbit MQ

  2. Staff training cost and steep learning curve required for implementing Kafka

  3. Infrastructure cost for Kafka is higher than that for Rabbit MQ.

  4. Troubleshooting problems in Kafka implementation is difficult when compared to that in Rabbit MQ implementation.

    • A Rabbit MQ Developer can easily maintain and support applications that use Rabbit MQ.

    • The same is not true with Kafka. Experience with just Kafka development is not sufficient to maintain and support applications that use Kafka. The support personnel require other skills like zoo-keeper, networking, disk storage too.

How to retrieve the dimensions of a view?

ViewTreeObserver and onWindowFocusChanged() are not so necessary at all.

If you inflate the TextView as layout and/or put some content in it and set LayoutParams then you can use getMeasuredHeight() and getMeasuredWidth().

BUT you have to be careful with LinearLayouts (maybe also other ViewGroups). The issue there is, that you can get the width and height after onWindowFocusChanged() but if you try to add some views in it, then you can't get that information until everything have been drawn. I was trying to add multiple TextViews to LinearLayouts to mimic a FlowLayout (wrapping style) and so couldn't use Listeners. Once the process is started, it should continue synchronously. So in such case, you might want to keep the width in a variable to use it later, as during adding views to layout, you might need it.

Sending mass email using PHP

I would insert all the emails into a database (sort of like a queue), then process them one at a time as you have done in your code (if you want to use swiftmailer or phpmailer etc, you can do that too.)

After each mail is sent, update the database to record the date/time it was sent.

By putting them in the database first you have

  1. a record of who you sent it to
  2. if your script times out or fails and you have to run it again, then you won't end up sending the same email out to people twice
  3. you can run the send process from a cron job and do a batch at a time, so that your mail server is not overwhelmed, and keep track of what has been sent

Keep in mind, how to automate bounced emails or invalid emails so they can automatically removed from your list.

If you are sending that many emails you are bound to get a few bounces.

Is it possible to set ENV variables for rails development environment in my code?

I think the best way is to store them in some yml file and then load that file using this command in intializer file

APP_CONFIG = YAML.load_file("#{Rails.root}/config/CONFIG.yml")[Rails.env].to_hash

you can easily access environment related config variables.

Your Yml file key value structure:

development:
  app_key: 'abc'
  app_secret: 'abc'

production:
  app_key: 'xyz'
  app_secret: 'ghq'

Android Location Manager, Get GPS location ,if no GPS then get to Network Provider location

The recommended way to do this is to use LocationClient:

First, define location update interval values. Adjust this to your needs.

private static final int MILLISECONDS_PER_SECOND = 1000;
private static final long UPDATE_INTERVAL = MILLISECONDS_PER_SECOND * UPDATE_INTERVAL_IN_SECONDS;
private static final int FASTEST_INTERVAL_IN_SECONDS = 1;
private static final long FASTEST_INTERVAL = MILLISECONDS_PER_SECOND * FASTEST_INTERVAL_IN_SECONDS;

Have your Activity implement GooglePlayServicesClient.ConnectionCallbacks, GooglePlayServicesClient.OnConnectionFailedListener, and LocationListener.

public class LocationActivity extends Activity implements
GooglePlayServicesClient.ConnectionCallbacks, GooglePlayServicesClient.OnConnectionFailedListener, LocationListener {}

Then, set up a LocationClientin the onCreate() method of your Activity:

public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

    mLocationClient = new LocationClient(this, this, this);

    mLocationRequest = LocationRequest.create();
    mLocationRequest.setPriority(LocationRequest.PRIORITY_HIGH_ACCURACY);
    mLocationRequest.setInterval(UPDATE_INTERVAL);
    mLocationRequest.setFastestInterval(FASTEST_INTERVAL);
}

Add the required methods to your Activity; onConnected() is the method that is called when the LocationClientconnects. onLocationChanged() is where you'll retrieve the most up-to-date location.

@Override
public void onConnectionFailed(ConnectionResult connectionResult) {
    Log.w(TAG, "Location client connection failed");
}

@Override
public void onConnected(Bundle dataBundle) {
    Log.d(TAG, "Location client connected");
    mLocationClient.requestLocationUpdates(mLocationRequest, this);
}

@Override
public void onDisconnected() {
    Log.d(TAG, "Location client disconnected");
}

@Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
    if (location != null) {
        Log.d(TAG, "Updated Location: " + Double.toString(location.getLatitude()) + "," + Double.toString(location.getLongitude()));
    } else {
        Log.d(TAG, "Updated location NULL");
    }
}

Be sure to connect/disconnect the LocationClient so it's only using extra battery when absolutely necessary and so the GPS doesn't run indefinitely. The LocationClient must be connected in order to get data from it.

public void onResume() {
    super.onResume();
    mLocationClient.connect();
}

public void onStop() {
    if (mLocationClient.isConnected()) {
        mLocationClient.removeLocationUpdates(this);
    }
    mLocationClient.disconnect();
    super.onStop();
}

Get the user's location. First try using the LocationClient; if that fails, fall back to the LocationManager.

public Location getLocation() {
    if (mLocationClient != null && mLocationClient.isConnected()) {
        return mLocationClient.getLastLocation();
    } else {
        LocationManager locationManager = (LocationManager) this.getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
        if (locationManager != null) {
            Location lastKnownLocationGPS = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER);
            if (lastKnownLocationGPS != null) {
                return lastKnownLocationGPS;
            } else {
                return locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER);
            }
        } else {
            return null;
        }
    }
}

Understanding unique keys for array children in React.js

Warning: Each child in an array or iterator should have a unique "key" prop.

This is a warning as for array items which we are going to iterate over will need a unique resemblance.

React handles iterating component rendering as arrays.

Better way to resolve this is provide index on the array items you are going to iterate over.for example:

class UsersState extends Component
    {
        state = {
            users: [
                {name:"shashank", age:20},
                {name:"vardan", age:30},
                {name:"somya", age:40}
            ]
        }
    render()
        {
            return(
                    <div>
                        {
                            this.state.users.map((user, index)=>{
                                return <UserState key={index} age={user.age}>{user.name}</UserState>
                            })
                        }
                    </div>
                )
        }

index is React built-in props.

htons() function in socket programing

htons is host-to-network short

This means it works on 16-bit short integers. i.e. 2 bytes.

This function swaps the endianness of a short.

Your number starts out at:

0001 0011 1000 1001 = 5001

When the endianness is changed, it swaps the two bytes:

1000 1001 0001 0011 = 35091

What primitive data type is time_t?

You can use the function difftime. It returns the difference between two given time_t values, the output value is double (see difftime documentation).

time_t actual_time;
double actual_time_sec;
actual_time = time(0);
actual_time_sec = difftime(actual_time,0);
printf("%g",actual_time_sec);

CSS hover vs. JavaScript mouseover

If you don't need 100% support for IE6 with javascript disabled you could use something like ie7-js with IE conditional comments. Then you just use css rules to apply hover effects. I don't know exactly how it works but it uses javascript to make a lot of css rules work that don't normally in IE7 and 8.

When to use std::size_t?

Use std::size_t for indexing/counting C-style arrays.

For STL containers, you'll have (for example) vector<int>::size_type, which should be used for indexing and counting vector elements.

In practice, they are usually both unsigned ints, but it isn't guaranteed, especially when using custom allocators.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server

Sql Server fire this error when your application don't have enough rights to access the database. there are several reason about this error . To fix this error you should follow the following instruction.

  1. Try to connect sql server from your server using management studio . if you use windows authentication to connect sql server then set your application pool identity to server administrator .

  2. if you use sql server authentication then check you connection string in web.config of your web application and set user id and password of sql server which allows you to log in .

  3. if your database in other server(access remote database) then first of enable remote access of sql server form sql server property from sql server management studio and enable TCP/IP form sql server configuration manager .

  4. after doing all these stuff and you still can't access the database then check firewall of server form where you are trying to access the database and add one rule in firewall to enable port of sql server(by default sql server use 1433 , to check port of sql server you need to check sql server configuration manager network protocol TCP/IP port).

  5. if your sql server is running on named instance then you need to write port number with sql serer name for example 117.312.21.21/nameofsqlserver,1433.

  6. If you are using cloud hosting like amazon aws or microsoft azure then server or instance will running behind cloud firewall so you need to enable 1433 port in cloud firewall if you have default instance or specific port for sql server for named instance.

  7. If you are using amazon RDS or SQL azure then you need to enable port from security group of that instance.

  8. If you are accessing sql server through sql server authentication mode them make sure you enabled "SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode" sql server instance property. enter image description here

    1. Restart your sql server instance after making any changes in property as some changes will require restart.

if you further face any difficulty then you need to provide more information about your web site and sql server .

How to count days between two dates in PHP?

Here is the raw way to do it

$startTimeStamp = strtotime("2011/07/01");
$endTimeStamp = strtotime("2011/07/17");

$timeDiff = abs($endTimeStamp - $startTimeStamp);

$numberDays = $timeDiff/86400;  // 86400 seconds in one day

// and you might want to convert to integer
$numberDays = intval($numberDays);

How to convert DateTime? to DateTime

MS already made a method for this, so you dont have to use the null coalescing operator. No difference in functionality, but it is easier for non-experts to get what is happening at a glance.

DateTime updatedTime = _objHotelPackageOrder.UpdatedDate.GetValueOrDefault(DateTime.Now);

Set type for function parameters?

No, instead you would need to do something like this depending on your needs:

function myFunction(myDate, myString) {
  if(arguments.length > 1 && typeof(Date.parse(myDate)) == "number" && typeof(myString) == "string") {
    //Code here
  }
}

Char array declaration and initialization in C

This is another C example of where the same syntax has different meanings (in different places). While one might be able to argue that the syntax should be different for these two cases, it is what it is. The idea is that not that it is "not allowed" but that the second thing means something different (it means "pointer assignment").

Convert JSON array to an HTML table in jQuery

Converting a 2D JavaScript array to an HTML table

To turn a 2D JavaScript array into an HTML table, you really need but a little bit of code :

_x000D_
_x000D_
function arrayToTable(tableData) {_x000D_
    var table = $('<table></table>');_x000D_
    $(tableData).each(function (i, rowData) {_x000D_
        var row = $('<tr></tr>');_x000D_
        $(rowData).each(function (j, cellData) {_x000D_
            row.append($('<td>'+cellData+'</td>'));_x000D_
        });_x000D_
        table.append(row);_x000D_
    });_x000D_
    return table;_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
$('body').append(arrayToTable([_x000D_
    ["John","Slegers",34],_x000D_

Loading a JSON file

If you want to load your 2D array from a JSON file, you'll also need a little bit of Ajax code :

$.ajax({
    type: "GET",
    url: "data.json",
    dataType: 'json',
    success: function (data) {
        $('body').append(arrayToTable(data));
    }
});

Can I add color to bootstrap icons only using CSS?

Quick and dirty work around which did it for me, not actually coloring the icon, but surrounding it with a label or badge in the color you want;

Difference between CR LF, LF and CR line break types?

Systems based on ASCII or a compatible character set use either LF (Line feed, 0x0A, 10 in decimal) or CR (Carriage return, 0x0D, 13 in decimal) individually, or CR followed by LF (CR+LF, 0x0D 0x0A); These characters are based on printer commands: The line feed indicated that one line of paper should feed out of the printer, and a carriage return indicated that the printer carriage should return to the beginning of the current line.

Here is the details.

Android device is not connected to USB for debugging (Android studio)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. Although visible from Devices, my phone was not listed as connected from Android Studio. I tried a few things independently, and then together, and found that only a combination of steps fixed the issue, so this is for you if measures listed above or on another site did not work on their own.

  1. Enable USB debugging from "Developer Options"
  2. Download Kies from Samsung. I believe Samsung US has replaced Kies with a new software called Smart Switch, but this did not resolve anything for me. I found a Samsung UK download of Kies that worked fine.
  3. After connecting your phone to your PC via USB, go to your phone notifications and click on USB settings at the top. Switch it to Camera mode.

I repeat, only all 3 of these together fixed the issue, so if some fixes you have tried haven't worked, use these 3 and it could fix the problem for you. Best of luck.

How to download all dependencies and packages to directory

I used apt-cache depends package to get all required packages in any case if the are already installed on system or not. So it will work always correct.
Because the command apt-cache works different, depending on language, you have to try this command on your system and adapt the command. apt-cache depends yourpackage
On an englisch system you get:

$ apt-cache depends yourpackage
node
  Depends: libax25
  Depends: libc6

On an german system you get: node

  Hängt ab von: libax25
  Hängt ab von: libc6

The englisch version with the term:
"Depends:"
You have to change the term "yourpackage" to your wish twice in this command, take care of this!

$ sudo apt-get --print-uris --yes -d --reinstall install yourpackage $(apt-cache depends yourpackage | grep "  Depends:" |  sed 's/  Depends://' | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n//g') | grep ^\' | cut -d\' -f2 >downloads.list

And the german version with the term:
"Hängt ab von:"
You have to change the term "yourpackage" to your wish twice in this command, take care of this!
This text is used twice in this command, if you want to adapt it to your language take care of this!

$ sudo apt-get --print-uris --yes -d --reinstall install yourpackage $(apt-cache depends yourpackage | grep "Hängt ab von:" |  sed 's/  Hängt ab von://' | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n//g') | grep ^\' | cut -d\' -f2 >downloads.list

You get the list of links in downloads.list
Check the list, go to your folder and run the list:

$ cd yourpathToYourFolder

$ wget --input-file downloads.list

All your required packages are in:

$ ls yourpathToYourFolder

Return multiple values from a function, sub or type?

You can also use a variant array as the return result to return a sequence of arbitrary values:

Function f(i As Integer, s As String) As Variant()
    f = Array(i + 1, "ate my " + s, Array(1#, 2#, 3#))
End Function

Sub test()
    result = f(2, "hat")
    i1 = result(0)
    s1 = result(1)
    a1 = result(2)
End Sub

Ugly and bug prone because your caller needs to know what's being returned to use the result, but occasionally useful nonetheless.

Is there any way to redraw tmux window when switching smaller monitor to bigger one?

The other answers did not help me as I only had client attached (the previous one that started the session was already detached).

To fix it I followed the answer here (I was not using xterm).

Which simply said:

  1. Detach from tmux session
  2. Run resize linux command
  3. Reattach to tmux session

Correct way to try/except using Python requests module?

Exception object also contains original response e.response, that could be useful if need to see error body in response from the server. For example:

try:
    r = requests.post('somerestapi.com/post-here', data={'birthday': '9/9/3999'})
    r.raise_for_status()
except requests.exceptions.HTTPError as e:
    print (e.response.text)

How to fix "ImportError: No module named ..." error in Python?

In my mind I have to consider that the foo folder is a stand-alone library. I might want to consider moving it to the Lib\site-packages folder within a python installation. I might want to consider adding a foo.pth file there.

I know it's a library since the ./programs/my_python_program.py contains the following line:

from foo.tasks import my_function

So it doesn't matter that ./programs is a sibling folder to ./foo. It's the fact that my_python_program.py is run as a script like this:

python ./programs/my_python_program.py

Python convert object to float

I eventually used:

weather["Temp"] = weather["Temp"].convert_objects(convert_numeric=True)

It worked just fine, except that I got the following message.

C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\lib\site-packages\ipykernel_launcher.py:3: FutureWarning:
convert_objects is deprecated.  Use the data-type specific converters pd.to_datetime, pd.to_timedelta and pd.to_numeric.

Call PowerShell script PS1 from another PS1 script inside Powershell ISE

I am calling myScript1.ps1 from myScript2.ps1 .

Assuming both of the script are at the same location, first get the location of the script by using this command :

$PSScriptRoot

And, then, append the script name you want to call like this :

& "$PSScriptRoot\myScript1.ps1"

This should work.

Programmatically Add CenterX/CenterY Constraints

A solution for me was to create a UILabel and add it to the UIButton as a subview. Finally I added a constraint to center it within the button.

UILabel * myTextLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 75, 75)];
myTextLabel.text = @"Some Text";
myTextLabel.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false;

[myButton addSubView:myTextLabel];

// Add Constraints
[[myTextLabel centerYAnchor] constraintEqualToAnchor:myButton.centerYAnchor].active = true;
[[myTextLabel centerXAnchor] constraintEqualToAnchor:myButton.centerXAnchor].active = true;

Node.js ES6 classes with require

Just treat the ES6 class name the same as you would have treated the constructor name in the ES5 way. They are one and the same.

The ES6 syntax is just syntactic sugar and creates exactly the same underlying prototype, constructor function and objects.

So, in your ES6 example with:

// animal.js
class Animal {
    ...
}

var a = new Animal();

module.exports = {Animal: Animal};

You can just treat Animal like the constructor of your object (the same as you would have done in ES5). You can export the constructor. You can call the constructor with new Animal(). Everything is the same for using it. Only the declaration syntax is different. There's even still an Animal.prototype that has all your methods on it. The ES6 way really does create the same coding result, just with fancier/nicer syntax.

On the import side, this would then be used like this:

const Animal = require('./animal.js').Animal;

let a = new Animal();

This scheme exports the Animal constructor as the .Animal property which allows you to export more than one thing from that module.

If you don't need to export more than one thing, you can do this:

// animal.js
class Animal {
    ...
}

module.exports = Animal;

And, then import it with:

const Animal = require('./animal.js');

let a = new Animal();

How to include quotes in a string

The Code:

string myString = "Hello " + ((char)34) + " World." + ((char)34);

Output will be:

Hello "World."

int array to string

I've left this here for posterity but don't recommend its use as it's not terribly readable. This is especially true now that I've come back to see if after a period of some time and have wondered what I was thinking when I wrote it (I was probably thinking 'crap, must get this written before someone else posts an answer'.)

string s = string.Concat(arr.Cast<object>().ToArray());

How to turn off the Eclipse code formatter for certain sections of Java code?

This hack works:

String x = "s" + //Formatter Hack
    "a" + //
    "c" + //
    "d";

I would suggest not to use the formatter. Bad code should look bad not artificially good. Good code takes time. You cannot cheat on quality. Formatting is part of source code quality.

Doing it in plain SQL it would be a select on pg_extension:

SELECT *

What's the difference between a temp table and table variable in SQL Server?

The other main difference is that table variables don't have column statistics, where as temp tables do. This means that the query optimiser doesn't know how many rows are in the table variable (it guesses 1), which can lead to highly non-optimal plans been generated if the table variable actually has a large number of rows.

BOOLEAN or TINYINT confusion

MySQL does not have internal boolean data type. It uses the smallest integer data type - TINYINT.

The BOOLEAN and BOOL are equivalents of TINYINT(1), because they are synonyms.

Try to create this table -

CREATE TABLE table1 (
  column1 BOOLEAN DEFAULT NULL
);

Then run SHOW CREATE TABLE, you will get this output -

CREATE TABLE `table1` (
  `column1` tinyint(1) DEFAULT NULL
)

Most efficient T-SQL way to pad a varchar on the left to a certain length?

In SQL Server 2005 and later you could create a CLR function to do this.

JCheckbox - ActionListener and ItemListener?

Both ItemListener as well as ActionListener, in case of JCheckBox have the same behaviour. However, major difference is ItemListener can be triggered by calling the setSelected(true) on the checkbox. As a coding practice do not register both ItemListener as well as ActionListener with the JCheckBox, in order to avoid inconsistency.

postgresql return 0 if returned value is null

I can think of 2 ways to achieve this:

  • IFNULL():

    The IFNULL() function returns a specified value if the expression is NULL.If the expression is NOT NULL, this function returns the expression.

Syntax:

IFNULL(expression, alt_value)

Example of IFNULL() with your query:

SELECT AVG( price )
FROM(
      SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price DESC ) FROM web_price_scan
      WHERE listing_Type = 'AARM'
        AND u_kbalikepartnumbers_id = 1000307
        AND ( EXTRACT( DAY FROM ( NOW() - dateEnded ) ) ) * 24 < 48
        AND IFNULL( price, 0 ) > ( SELECT AVG( IFNULL( price, 0 ) )* 0.50
                                     FROM ( SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price DESC )
                                           FROM web_price_scan
                                           WHERE listing_Type='AARM'
                                             AND u_kbalikepartnumbers_id = 1000307
                                             AND ( EXTRACT( DAY FROM ( NOW() - dateEnded ) ) ) * 24 < 48
                                         ) g
                                    WHERE cume_dist < 0.50
                                  )
        AND IFNULL( price, 0 ) < ( SELECT AVG( IFNULL( price, 0 ) ) *2
                                     FROM( SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price desc )
                                           FROM web_price_scan
                                           WHERE listing_Type='AARM'

  • COALESCE()

    The COALESCE() function returns the first non-null value in a list.

Syntax:

COALESCE(val1, val2, ...., val_n)

Example of COALESCE() with your query:

SELECT AVG( price )
FROM(
      SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price DESC ) FROM web_price_scan
      WHERE listing_Type = 'AARM'
        AND u_kbalikepartnumbers_id = 1000307
        AND ( EXTRACT( DAY FROM ( NOW() - dateEnded ) ) ) * 24 < 48
        AND COALESCE( price, 0 ) > ( SELECT AVG( COALESCE( price, 0 ) )* 0.50
                                     FROM ( SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price DESC )
                                           FROM web_price_scan
                                           WHERE listing_Type='AARM'
                                             AND u_kbalikepartnumbers_id = 1000307
                                             AND ( EXTRACT( DAY FROM ( NOW() - dateEnded ) ) ) * 24 < 48
                                         ) g
                                    WHERE cume_dist < 0.50
                                  )
        AND COALESCE( price, 0 ) < ( SELECT AVG( COALESCE( price, 0 ) ) *2
                                     FROM( SELECT *, cume_dist() OVER ( ORDER BY price desc )
                                           FROM web_price_scan

Facebook API - How do I get a Facebook user's profile image through the Facebook API (without requiring the user to "Allow" the application)

To get the image URL, NOT binary content:

$url = "http://graph.facebook.com/$fbId/picture?type=$size";

$headers = get_headers($url, 1);

if( isset($headers['Location']) )
    echo $headers['Location']; // string
else
    echo "ERROR";

You must use your FACEBOOK ID, NOT USERNAME. You can get your facebook id there:

How can I use delay() with show() and hide() in Jquery

Why don't you try the fadeIn() instead of using a show() with delay(). I think what you are trying to do can be done with this. Here is the jQuery code for fadeIn and FadeOut() which also has inbuilt method for delaying the process.

$(document).ready(function(){
   $('element').click(function(){
      //effects take place in 3000ms
      $('element_to_hide').fadeOut(3000);
      $('element_to_show').fadeIn(3000);
   });
}

How to reduce the image size without losing quality in PHP

You can resize and then use imagejpeg()

Don't pass 100 as the quality for imagejpeg() - anything over 90 is generally overkill and just gets you a bigger JPEG. For a thumbnail, try 75 and work downwards until the quality/size tradeoff is acceptable.

imagejpeg($tn, $save, 75);

Understanding [TCP ACKed unseen segment] [TCP Previous segment not captured]

Acked Unseen sample

Hi guys! Just some observations from what I just found in my capture:

On many occasions, the packet capture reports “ACKed segment that wasn't captured” on the client side, which alerts of the condition that the client PC has sent a data packet, the server acknowledges receipt of that packet, but the packet capture made on the client does not include the packet sent by the client

Initially, I thought it indicates a failure of the PC to record into the capture a packet it sends because “e.g., machine which is running Wireshark is slow” (https://osqa-ask.wireshark.org/questions/25593/tcp-previous-segment-not-captured-is-that-a-connectivity-issue)
However, then I noticed every time I see this “ACKed segment that wasn't captured” alert I can see a record of an “invalid” packet sent by the client PC

  • In the capture example above, frame 67795 sends an ACK for 10384

  • Even though wireshark reports Bogus IP length (0), frame 67795 is reported to have length 13194

  • Frame 67800 sends an ACK for 23524
  • 10384+13194 = 23578
  • 23578 – 23524 = 54
  • 54 is in fact length of the Ethernet / IP / TCP headers (14 for Ethernt, 20 for IP, 20 for TCP)
  • So in fact, the frame 67796 does represent a large TCP packets (13194 bytes) which operating system tried to put on the wore
    • NIC driver will fragment it into smaller 1500 bytes pieces in order to transmit over the network
    • But Wireshark running on my PC fails to understand it is a valid packet and parse it. I believe Wireshark running on 2012 Windows server reads these captures correctly
  • So after all, these “Bogus IP length” and “ACKed segment that wasn't captured” alerts were in fact false positives in my case

How to unpackage and repackage a WAR file

no need to that, tomcat naturally extract the war file into a folder of the same name. you simply modify the desired file inside that folder (including .xml configuration files), that's all. technically no need to restart tomcat after applying the modifications

How to catch exception output from Python subprocess.check_output()?

This did the trick for me. It captures all the stdout output from the subprocess(For python 3.8):

from subprocess import check_output, STDOUT
cmd = "Your Command goes here"
try:
    cmd_stdout = check_output(cmd, stderr=STDOUT, shell=True).decode()
except Exception as e:
    print(e.output.decode()) # print out the stdout messages up to the exception
    print(e) # To print out the exception message

Free easy way to draw graphs and charts in C++?

I've used this "portable plotter". It's very small, multiplatform, easy to use and you can plug it into different graphical libraries. pplot

(Only for the plots part)

If you use or plan to use Qt, another multiplatform solution is Qwt and Qchart

How does one reorder columns in a data frame?

dplyr version 1.0.0 includes the relocate() function to easily reorder columns:

dat <- data.frame(Time=c(1,2), In=c(2,3), Out=c(3,4), Files=c(4,5))

library(dplyr) # from version 1.0.0 only

dat %>%
  relocate(Out, .before = In)

or

dat %>%
  relocate(Out, .after = Time)

How to replace a character by a newline in Vim

Here's the answer that worked for me. From this guy:

----quoting Use the vi editor to insert a newline char in replace

Something else I have to do and cannot remember and then have to look up.

In vi, to insert a newline character in a search and replace, do the following:

:%s/look_for/replace_with^M/g

The command above would replace all instances of “look_for” with “replace_with\n” (with \n meaning newline).

To get the “^M”, enter the key combination Ctrl + V, and then after that (release all keys) press the Enter key.

How does Trello access the user's clipboard?

With the help of raincoat's code on GitHub, I managed to get a running version accessing the clipboard with plain JavaScript.

function TrelloClipboard() {
    var me = this;

    var utils = {
        nodeName: function (node, name) {
            return !!(node.nodeName.toLowerCase() === name)
        }
    }
    var textareaId = 'simulate-trello-clipboard',
        containerId = textareaId + '-container',
        container, textarea

    var createTextarea = function () {
        container = document.querySelector('#' + containerId)
        if (!container) {
            container = document.createElement('div')
            container.id = containerId
            container.setAttribute('style', [, 'position: fixed;', 'left: 0px;', 'top: 0px;', 'width: 0px;', 'height: 0px;', 'z-index: 100;', 'opacity: 0;'].join(''))
            document.body.appendChild(container)
        }
        container.style.display = 'block'
        textarea = document.createElement('textarea')
        textarea.setAttribute('style', [, 'width: 1px;', 'height: 1px;', 'padding: 0px;'].join(''))
        textarea.id = textareaId
        container.innerHTML = ''
        container.appendChild(textarea)

        textarea.appendChild(document.createTextNode(me.value))
        textarea.focus()
        textarea.select()
    }

    var keyDownMonitor = function (e) {
        var code = e.keyCode || e.which;
        if (!(e.ctrlKey || e.metaKey)) {
            return
        }
        var target = e.target
        if (utils.nodeName(target, 'textarea') || utils.nodeName(target, 'input')) {
            return
        }
        if (window.getSelection && window.getSelection() && window.getSelection().toString()) {
            return
        }
        if (document.selection && document.selection.createRange().text) {
            return
        }
        setTimeout(createTextarea, 0)
    }

    var keyUpMonitor = function (e) {
        var code = e.keyCode || e.which;
        if (e.target.id !== textareaId || code !== 67) {
            return
        }
        container.style.display = 'none'
    }

    document.addEventListener('keydown', keyDownMonitor)
    document.addEventListener('keyup', keyUpMonitor)
}

var clip = new TrelloClipboard();
clip.setValue("test");

How do I detect "shift+enter" and generate a new line in Textarea?

I found this thread looking for a way to control Shift + any key. I pasted together other solutions to make this combined function to accomplish what I needed. I hope it helps someone else.

function () {
    return this.each(function () {
    $(this).keydown(function (e) {
        var key = e.charCode || e.keyCode || 0;
        // Shift + anything is not desired
        if (e.shiftKey) {
            return false;
        }
        // allow backspace, tab, delete, enter, arrows, numbers
        //and keypad numbers ONLY
        // home, end, period, and numpad decimal
        return (
            key == 8 ||
            key == 9 ||
            key == 13 ||
            key == 46 ||
            key == 110 ||
            key == 190 ||
            (key >= 35 && key <= 40) ||
            (key >= 48 && key <= 57) ||
            (key >= 96 && key <= 105));
    });
});

callback to handle completion of pipe

Streams are EventEmitters so you can listen to certain events. As you said there is a finish event for request (previously end).

 var stream = request(...).pipe(...);
 stream.on('finish', function () { ... });

For more information about which events are available you can check the stream documentation page.

MySQL Multiple Where Clause

I think that you are after this:

SELECT image_id
FROM list
WHERE (style_id, style_value) IN ((24,'red'),(25,'big'),(27,'round'))
GROUP BY image_id
HAVING count(distinct style_id, style_value)=3

You can't use AND, because values can't be 24 red and 25 big and 27 round at the same time in the same row, but you need to check the presence of style_id, style_value in multiple rows, under the same image_id.

In this query I'm using IN (that, in this particular example, is equivalent to an OR), and I am counting the distinct rows that match. If 3 distinct rows match, it means that all 3 attributes are present for that image_id, and my query will return it.

When are you supposed to use escape instead of encodeURI / encodeURIComponent?

encodeURI() - the escape() function is for javascript escaping, not HTTP.

Convert .cer certificate to .jks

Just to be sure that this is really the "conversion" you need, please note that jks files are keystores, a file format used to store more than one certificate and allows you to retrieve them programmatically using the Java security API, it's not a one-to-one conversion between equivalent formats.

So, if you just want to import that certificate in a new ad-hoc keystore you can do it with Keystore Explorer, a graphical tool. You'll be able to modify the keystore and the certificates contained therein like you would have done with the java terminal utilities like keytool (but in a more accessible way).

How to check if pytorch is using the GPU?

If you are here because your pytorch always gives False for torch.cuda.is_available() that's probably because you installed your pytorch version without GPU support. (Eg: you coded up in laptop then testing on server).

The solution is to uninstall and install pytorch again with the right command from pytorch downloads page. Also refer this pytorch issue.

Send a file via HTTP POST with C#

To send the raw file only:

using(WebClient client = new WebClient()) {
    client.UploadFile(address, filePath);
}

If you want to emulate a browser form with an <input type="file"/>, then that is harder. See this answer for a multipart/form-data answer.

Loop through array of values with Arrow Function

One statement can be written as such:

someValues.forEach(x => console.log(x));

or multiple statements can be enclosed in {} like this:

someValues.forEach(x => { let a = 2 + x; console.log(a); });

Sort a list of Class Instances Python

In addition to the solution you accepted, you could also implement the special __lt__() ("less than") method on the class. The sort() method (and the sorted() function) will then be able to compare the objects, and thereby sort them. This works best when you will only ever sort them on this attribute, however.

class Foo(object):

     def __init__(self, score):
         self.score = score

     def __lt__(self, other):
         return self.score < other.score

l = [Foo(3), Foo(1), Foo(2)]
l.sort()

Using .Select and .Where in a single LINQ statement

Did you add the Select() after the Where() or before?

You should add it after, because of the concurrency logic:

 1 Take the entire table
 2 Filter it accordingly
 3 Select only the ID's
 4 Make them distinct.

If you do a Select first, the Where clause can only contain the ID attribute because all other attributes have already been edited out.

Update: For clarity, this order of operators should work:

db.Items.Where(x=> x.userid == user_ID).Select(x=>x.Id).Distinct();

Probably want to add a .toList() at the end but that's optional :)

How to split a comma-separated value to columns

I think PARSENAME is the neat function to use for this example, as described in this article: http://www.sqlshack.com/parsing-and-rotating-delimited-data-in-sql-server-2012/

The PARSENAME function is logically designed to parse four-part object names. The nice thing about PARSENAME is that it’s not limited to parsing just SQL Server four-part object names – it will parse any function or string data that is delimited by dots.

The first parameter is the object to parse, and the second is the integer value of the object piece to return. The article is discussing parsing and rotating delimited data - company phone numbers, but it can be used to parse name/surname data also.

Example:

USE COMPANY;
SELECT PARSENAME('Whatever.you.want.parsed',3) AS 'ReturnValue';

The article also describes using a Common Table Expression (CTE) called ‘replaceChars’, to run PARSENAME against the delimiter-replaced values. A CTE is useful for returning a temporary view or result set.

After that, the UNPIVOT function has been used to convert some columns into rows; SUBSTRING and CHARINDEX functions have been used for cleaning up the inconsistencies in the data, and the LAG function (new for SQL Server 2012) has been used in the end, as it allows referencing of previous records.

Match whitespace but not newlines

Use a double-negative:

/[^\S\r\n]/

That is, not-not-whitespace (the capital S complements) or not-carriage-return or not-newline. Distributing the outer not (i.e., the complementing ^ in the character class) with De Morgan's law, this is equivalent to “whitespace but not carriage return or newline.” Including both \r and \n in the pattern correctly handles all of Unix (LF), classic Mac OS (CR), and DOS-ish (CR LF) newline conventions.

No need to take my word for it:

#! /usr/bin/env perl

use strict;
use warnings;

use 5.005;  # for qr//

my $ws_not_crlf = qr/[^\S\r\n]/;

for (' ', '\f', '\t', '\r', '\n') {
  my $qq = qq["$_"];
  printf "%-4s => %s\n", $qq,
    (eval $qq) =~ $ws_not_crlf ? "match" : "no match";
}

Output:

" "  => match
"\f" => match
"\t" => match
"\r" => no match
"\n" => no match

Note the exclusion of vertical tab, but this is addressed in v5.18.

Before objecting too harshly, the Perl documentation uses the same technique. A footnote in the “Whitespace” section of perlrecharclass reads

Prior to Perl v5.18, \s did not match the vertical tab. [^\S\cK] (obscurely) matches what \s traditionally did.

The same section of perlrecharclass also suggests other approaches that won’t offend language teachers’ opposition to double-negatives.

Outside locale and Unicode rules or when the /a switch is in effect, “\s matches [\t\n\f\r ] and, starting in Perl v5.18, the vertical tab, \cK.” Discard \r and \n to leave /[\t\f\cK ]/ for matching whitespace but not newline.

If your text is Unicode, use code similar to the sub below to construct a pattern from the table in the aforementioned documentation section.

Other Applications

The double-negative trick is also handy for matching alphabetic characters too. Remember that \w matches “word characters,” alphabetic characters and digits and underscore. We ugly-Americans sometimes want to write it as, say,

if (/[A-Za-z]+/) { ... }

but a double-negative character-class can respect the locale:

if (/[^\W\d_]+/) { ... }

Expressing “a word character but not digit or underscore” this way is a bit opaque. A POSIX character-class communicates the intent more directly

if (/[[:alpha:]]+/) { ... }

or with a Unicode property as szbalint suggested

if (/\p{Letter}+/) { ... }
