Programs & Examples On #Suppression

How can I suppress column header output for a single SQL statement?

Invoke mysql with the -N (the alias for -N is --skip-column-names) option:

mysql -N ...
use testdb;
select * from names;

+------+-------+
|    1 | pete  |
|    2 | john  |
|    3 | mike  |
+------+-------+
3 rows in set (0.00 sec)

Credit to ErichBSchulz for pointing out the -N alias.

To remove the grid (the vertical and horizontal lines) around the results use -s (--silent). Columns are separated with a TAB character.

mysql -s ...
use testdb;
select * from names;

id  name
1   pete
2   john
3   mike

To output the data with no headers and no grid just use both -s and -N.

mysql -sN ...

How to count the number of rows in excel with data?

I like this way:

ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count

The same can be done with columns count. For me, always work. But, if you have data in another column, the code above will consider them too, because the code is looking for all cell range in the sheet.

Dynamic WHERE clause in LINQ

This is the solution I came up with if anyone is interested.

https://kellyschronicles.wordpress.com/2017/12/16/dynamic-predicate-for-a-linq-query/

First we identify the single element type we need to use ( Of TRow As DataRow) and then identify the “source” we are using and tie the identifier to that source ((source As TypedTableBase(Of TRow)). Then we must specify the predicate, or the WHERE clause that is going to be passed (predicate As Func(Of TRow, Boolean)) which will either be returned as true or false. Then we identify how we want the returned information ordered (OrderByField As String). Our function will then return a EnumerableRowCollection(Of TRow), our collection of datarows that have met the conditions of our predicate(EnumerableRowCollection(Of TRow)). This is a basic example. Of course you must make sure your order field doesn’t contain nulls, or have handled that situation properly and make sure your column names (if you are using a strongly typed datasource never mind this, it will rename the columns for you) are standard.

Hashmap does not work with int, char

Generic parameters can only bind to reference types, not primitive types, so you need to use the corresponding wrapper types. Try HashMap<Character, Integer> instead.

However, I'm having trouble figuring out why HashMap fails to be able to deal with primitive data types.

This is due to type erasure. Java didn't have generics from the beginning so a HashMap<Character, Integer> is really a HashMap<Object, Object>. The compiler does a bunch of additional checks and implicit casts to make sure you don't put the wrong type of value in or get the wrong type out, but at runtime there is only one HashMap class and it stores objects.

Other languages "specialize" types so in C++, a vector<bool> is very different from a vector<my_class> internally and they share no common vector<?> super-type. Java defines things though so that a List<T> is a List regardless of what T is for backwards compatibility with pre-generic code. This backwards-compatibility requirement that there has to be a single implementation class for all parameterizations of a generic type prevents the kind of template specialization which would allow generic parameters to bind to primitives.

How to remove responsive features in Twitter Bootstrap 3?

I just figure it out lately on how easy it is to make your bootstrap v3.1.1 being non-responsive. This includes navbars to not to collpase. I don't know if everyone knows this but I'd like to share it.

Two Steps to a Non-responsive Bootsrap v3.1.1

First, create a css file name it as non-responsive.css. Make sure to append it to your themes or link right after the bootstrap css files.

Second, paste this code to your non-responsive.css:

/* Template-specific stuff
 *
 * Customizations just for the template; these are not necessary for anything
 * with disabling the responsiveness.
 */

/* Account for fixed navbar */
body {
  min-width: 970px;
  padding-top: 70px;
  padding-bottom: 30px;
}

/* Finesse the page header spacing */
.page-header {
  margin-bottom: 30px;
}
.page-header .lead {
  margin-bottom: 10px;
}

/* Non-responsive overrides
 *
 * Utilitze the following CSS to disable the responsive-ness of the container,
 * grid system, and navbar.
 */

/* Reset the container */
.container {
  width: 970px;
  max-width: none !important;
}

/* Demonstrate the grids */
.col-xs-4 {
  padding-top: 15px;
  padding-bottom: 15px;
  background-color: #eee;
  background-color: rgba(86,61,124,.15);
  border: 1px solid #ddd;
  border: 1px solid rgba(86,61,124,.2);
}

.container .navbar-header,
.container .navbar-collapse {
  margin-right: 0;
  margin-left: 0;
}

/* Always float the navbar header */
.navbar-header {
  float: left;
}

/* Undo the collapsing navbar */
.navbar-collapse {
  display: block !important;
  height: auto !important;
  padding-bottom: 0;
  overflow: visible !important;
}

.navbar-toggle {
  display: none;
}
.navbar-collapse {
  border-top: 0;
}

.navbar-brand {
  margin-left: -15px;
}

/* Always apply the floated nav */
.navbar-nav {
  float: left;
  margin: 0;
}
.navbar-nav > li {
  float: left;
}
.navbar-nav > li > a {
  padding: 15px;
}

/* Redeclare since we override the float above */
.navbar-nav.navbar-right {
  float: right;
}

/* Undo custom dropdowns */
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu {
  position: absolute;
  float: left;
  background-color: #fff;
  border: 1px solid #ccc;
  border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, .15);
  border-width: 0 1px 1px;
  border-radius: 0 0 4px 4px;
  -webkit-box-shadow: 0 6px 12px rgba(0, 0, 0, .175);
          box-shadow: 0 6px 12px rgba(0, 0, 0, .175);
}
.navbar-default .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > li > a {
  color: #333;
}
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > li > a:hover,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > li > a:focus,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .active > a,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .active > a:hover,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .active > a:focus {
  color: #fff !important;
  background-color: #428bca !important;
}
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .disabled > a,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .disabled > a:hover,
.navbar .navbar-nav .open .dropdown-menu > .disabled > a:focus {
  color: #999 !important;
  background-color: transparent !important;
}

That's all and Enjoy..^^

How can I declare a Boolean parameter in SQL statement?

The same way you declare any other variable, just use the bit type:

DECLARE @MyVar bit
Set @MyVar = 1  /* True */
Set @MyVar = 0  /* False */

SELECT * FROM [MyTable] WHERE MyBitColumn = @MyVar

How to validate an OAuth 2.0 access token for a resource server?

OAuth v2 specs indicates:

Access token attributes and the methods used to access protected resources are beyond the scope of this specification and are defined by companion specifications.

My Authorisation Server has a webservice (SOAP) endpoint that allows the Resource Server to know whether the access_token is valid.

Adding a background image to a <div> element

You mean this?

<style type="text/css">
.bgimg {
    background-image: url('../images/divbg.png');
}
</style>

...

<div class="bgimg">

How/When does Execute Shell mark a build as failure in Jenkins?

So by adding the #!/bin/sh will allow you to execute with no option.

It also helped me in fixing an issue where I was executing bash script from Jenkins master on my Linux slave. By just adding #!/bin/bash above my actual script in "Execute Shell" block it fixed my issue as otherwise it was executing windows git provided version of bash shell that was giving an error.

doGet and doPost in Servlets

The servlet container's implementation of HttpServlet.service() method will automatically forward to doGet() or doPost() as necessary, so you shouldn't need to override the service method.

How to post SOAP Request from PHP

In my experience, it's not quite that simple. The built-in PHP SOAP client didn't work with the .NET-based SOAP server we had to use. It complained about an invalid schema definition. Even though .NET client worked with that server just fine. By the way, let me claim that SOAP interoperability is a myth.

The next step was NuSOAP. This worked for quite a while. By the way, for God's sake, don't forget to cache WSDL! But even with WSDL cached users complained the damn thing is slow.

Then, we decided to go bare HTTP, assembling the requests and reading the responses with SimpleXMLElemnt, like this:

$request_info = array();

$full_response = @http_post_data(
    'http://example.com/OTA_WS.asmx',
    $REQUEST_BODY,
    array(
        'headers' => array(
            'Content-Type' => 'text/xml; charset=UTF-8',
            'SOAPAction'   => 'HotelAvail',
        ),
        'timeout' => 60,

    ),
    $request_info
);

$response_xml = new SimpleXMLElement(strstr($full_response, '<?xml'));

foreach ($response_xml->xpath('//@HotelName') as $HotelName) {
    echo strval($HotelName) . "\n";
}

Note that in PHP 5.2 you'll need pecl_http, as far as (surprise-surpise!) there's no HTTP client built in.

Going to bare HTTP gained us over 30% in SOAP request times. And from then on we redirect all the performance complains to the server guys.

In the end, I'd recommend this latter approach, and not because of the performance. I think that, in general, in a dynamic language like PHP there's no benefit from all that WSDL/type-control. You don't need a fancy library to read and write XML, with all that stubs generation and dynamic proxies. Your language is already dynamic, and SimpleXMLElement works just fine, and is so easy to use. Also, you'll have less code, which is always good.

Multiple maven repositories in one gradle file

In short you have to do like this

repositories {
  maven { url "http://maven.springframework.org/release" }
  maven { url "https://maven.fabric.io/public" }
}

Detail:

You need to specify each maven URL in its own curly braces. Here is what I got working with skeleton dependencies for the web services project I’m going to build up:

apply plugin: 'java'

sourceCompatibility = 1.7
version = '1.0'

repositories {
  maven { url "http://maven.springframework.org/release" }
  maven { url "http://maven.restlet.org" }
  mavenCentral()
}

dependencies {
  compile group:'org.restlet.jee', name:'org.restlet', version:'2.1.1'
  compile group:'org.restlet.jee', name:'org.restlet.ext.servlet',version.1.1'
  compile group:'org.springframework', name:'spring-web', version:'3.2.1.RELEASE'
  compile group:'org.slf4j', name:'slf4j-api', version:'1.7.2'
  compile group:'ch.qos.logback', name:'logback-core', version:'1.0.9'
  testCompile group:'junit', name:'junit', version:'4.11'

Way to ng-repeat defined number of times instead of repeating over array?

This is really UGLY, but it works without a controller for either an integer or variable:

integer:

<span ng-repeat="_ in ((_ = []) && (_.length=33) && _) track by $index">{{$index}}</span>

variable:

<span ng-repeat="_ in ((_ = []) && (_.length=myVar) && _) track by $index">{{$index}}</span>

How to get an Android WakeLock to work?

Keep the Screen On

First way:

getWindow().addFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON);

Second way:

<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    android:keepScreenOn="true">
    ...
</RelativeLayout>

Keep the CPU On:

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" />

and

PowerManager powerManager = (PowerManager) getSystemService(POWER_SERVICE);
WakeLock wakeLock = powerManager.newWakeLock(PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK, "MyWakelockTag");
wakeLock.acquire();

To release the wake lock, call wakelock.release(). This releases your claim to the CPU. It's important to release a wake lock as soon as your app is finished using it to avoid draining the battery.

How to create friendly URL in php?

There are lots of different ways to do this. One way is to use the RewriteRule techniques mentioned earlier to mask query string values.

One of the ways I really like is if you use the front controller pattern, you can also use urls like http://yoursite.com/index.php/path/to/your/page/here and parse the value of $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'].

You can easily extract the /path/to/your/page/here bit with the following bit of code:

$route = substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], strlen($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']));

From there, you can parse it however you please, but for pete's sake make sure you sanitise it ;)

docker-compose up for only certain containers

Update

Starting with docker-compose 1.28.0 the new service profiles are just made for that! With profiles you can mark services to be only started in specific profiles:

services:
  client:
    # ...
  db:
    # ...
  npm:
    profiles: ["cli-only"]
    # ...
docker-compose up # start main services, no npm
docker-compose run --rm npm # run npm service
docker-compose --profile cli-only # start main and all "cli-only" services

original answer

Since docker-compose v1.5 it is possible to pass multiple docker-compose.yml files with the -f flag. This allows you to split your dev tools into a separate docker-compose.yml which you then only include on-demand:

# start and attach to all your essential services
docker-compose up

# execute a defined command in docker-compose.dev.yml
docker-compose -f docker-compose.dev.yml run npm update

# if your command depends_on a service you need to include both configs
docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml -f docker-compose.dev.yml run npm update

For an in-depth discussion on this see docker/compose#1896.

Count work days between two dates

I found the below TSQL a fairly elegant solution (I don't have permissions to run functions). I found the DATEDIFF ignores DATEFIRST and I wanted my first day of the week to be a Monday. I also wanted the first working day to be set a zero and if it falls on a weekend Monday will be a zero. This may help someone who has a slightly different requirement :)

It does not handle bank holidays

SET DATEFIRST 1
SELECT
,(DATEDIFF(DD,  [StartDate], [EndDate]))
-(DATEDIFF(wk,  [StartDate], [EndDate]))
-(DATEDIFF(wk, DATEADD(dd,-@@DATEFIRST,[StartDate]), DATEADD(dd,-@@DATEFIRST,[EndDate]))) AS [WorkingDays]
FROM /*Your Table*/

Add items in array angular 4

Push object into your array. Try this:

export class FormComponent implements OnInit {
    name: string;
    empoloyeeID : number;
    empList: Array<{name: string, empoloyeeID: number}> = [];
    constructor() {}
    ngOnInit() {}
    onEmpCreate(){
        console.log(this.name,this.empoloyeeID);
        this.empList.push({ name: this.name, empoloyeeID: this.empoloyeeID });
        this.name = "";
        this.empoloyeeID = 0;
    }
}

How to loop through all but the last item of a list?

VSCode: How to Split Editor Vertically

To change the editor in Landscape and Vertical mode, follow the steps below.

  1. For example, open two files that you have in your left or right side bar, depending on where you are placed. By default it is always on the left.

  2. Now that you have both windows open, you have to use the key combination for PC (Alt + Shift + 1) for (Windows and Linux Operating Systems) or for MAC (Cmd + Option + 1), as commented here v-andrew.

cast or convert a float to nvarchar?

You can also do something:

Output: 34512367.392000000

How to access to the parent object in c#

I wouldn't reference the parent directly in the child objects. In my opinion the childs shouldn't know anything about the parents. This will limits the flexibility!

I would solve this with events/handlers.

public class Meter
{
    private int _powerRating = 0;
    private Production _production;

    public Meter()
    {
        _production = new Production();
        _production.OnRequestPowerRating += new Func<int>(delegate { return _powerRating; });
        _production.DoSomething();
    }
}

public class Production
{
    protected int RequestPowerRating()
    {
        if (OnRequestPowerRating == null)
            throw new Exception("OnRequestPowerRating handler is not assigned");

        return OnRequestPowerRating();
    }

    public void DoSomething()
    {
        int powerRating = RequestPowerRating();
        Debug.WriteLine("The parents powerrating is :" + powerRating);

    }

    public Func<int> OnRequestPowerRating;
}

In this case I solved it with the Func<> generic, but can be done with 'normal' functions. This why the child(Production) is totally independent from it's parent(Meter).

But! If there are too many events/handlers or you just want to pass a parent object, i would solve it with an interface:

public interface IMeter
{
    int PowerRating { get; }
}

public class Meter : IMeter
{
    private int _powerRating = 0;
    private Production _production;

    public Meter()
    {
        _production = new Production(this);
        _production.DoSomething();
    }

    public int PowerRating { get { return _powerRating; } }
}

public class Production
{
    private IMeter _meter;

    public Production(IMeter meter)
    {
        _meter = meter;
    }

    public void DoSomething()
    {
        Debug.WriteLine("The parents powerrating is :" + _meter.PowerRating);
    }
}

This looks pretty much the same as the solution mentions, but the interface could be defined in another assembly and can be implemented by more than 1 class.

jQuery UI dialog box not positioned center screen

I was upgrading a legacy instance of jQuery UI and found that there was an extension to the dialog widget and it was simply using "center" instead of the position object. Implementing the position object or removing the parameter entirely worked for me (because center is the default).

When can I use a forward declaration?

The general rule I follow is not to include any header file unless I have to. So unless I am storing the object of a class as a member variable of my class I won't include it, I'll just use the forward declaration.

Run a single migration file

You can just run the code directly out of the ruby file:

rails console
>> require "db/migrate/20090408054532_add_foos.rb"
>> AddFoos.new.up

Note: Very old versions of rails may require AddFoos.up rather than AddFoos.new.up.

An alternative way (without IRB) which relies on the fact that require returns an array of class names:

script/runner 'require("db/migrate/20090408054532_add_foos.rb").first.constantize.up'

Note that if you do this, it won't update the schema_migrations table, but it seems like that's what you want anyway.

Additionally, if it can't find the file you may need to use require("./db/..." or try require_relative depending on your working directory

How to extract the decimal part from a floating point number in C?

Try this:

int main() {
  double num = 23.345;
  int intpart = (int)num;
  double decpart = num - intpart;
  printf("Num = %f, intpart = %d, decpart = %f\n", num, intpart, decpart);
}

For me, it produces:

Num = 23.345000, intpart = 23, decpart = 0.345000

Which appears to be what you're asking for.

What is Ruby's double-colon `::`?

It is all about preventing definitions from clashing with other code linked in to your project. It means you can keep things separate.

For example you can have one method called "run" in your code and you will still be able to call your method rather than the "run" method that has been defined in some other library that you have linked in.

Using Rsync include and exclude options to include directory and file by pattern

Here's my "teach a person to fish" answer:

Rsync's syntax is definitely non-intuitive, but it is worth understanding.

  1. First, use -vvv to see the debug info for rsync.
$ rsync -nr -vvv --include="**/file_11*.jpg" --exclude="*" /Storage/uploads/ /website/uploads/

[sender] hiding directory 1280000000 because of pattern *
[sender] hiding directory 1260000000 because of pattern *
[sender] hiding directory 1270000000 because of pattern *

The key concept here is that rsync applies the include/exclude patterns for each directory recursively. As soon as the first include/exclude is matched, the processing stops.

The first directory it evaluates is /Storage/uploads. Storage/uploads has 1280000000/, 1260000000/, 1270000000/ dirs/files. None of them match file_11*.jpg to include. All of them match * to exclude. So they are excluded, and rsync ends.

  1. The solution is to include all dirs (*/) first. Then the first dir component will be 1260000000/, 1270000000/, 1280000000/ since they match */. The next dir component will be 1260000000/. In 1260000000/, file_11_00.jpg matches --include="file_11*.jpg", so it is included. And so forth.
$ rsync -nrv --include='*/' --include="file_11*.jpg" --exclude="*" /Storage/uploads/ /website/uploads/

./
1260000000/
1260000000/file_11_00.jpg
1260000000/file_11_01.jpg
1270000000/
1270000000/file_11_00.jpg
1270000000/file_11_01.jpg
1280000000/
1280000000/file_11_00.jpg

ReferenceError: Invalid left-hand side in assignment

The same happened for me with eslint module. EsLinter throw Parsing error: Invalid left-hand side in assignment expression for await in second if statement.

if (condition_one) {
  let result = await myFunction()
}

if (condition_two) {
  let result = await myFunction() // eslint parsing error
}

As strange as it sounds what fixed this error was to add ; semicolon at the end of line where await occurred.

if (condition_one) {
  let result = await myFunction();
}

if (condition_two) {
  let result = await myFunction();
}

nodejs module.js:340 error: cannot find module

I was having the same problem with a server someone had written a while back. It turns out I didn't have a few things installed that the script required.

This question was helpful to me.

I ended up being able to use:

npm install yourMissingDependency

Although in your instance it may just be a file that it doesn't have a path to. You could try putting that file in the same folder you are running the node script from.

How to modify memory contents using GDB?

Expanding on the answers provided here.

You can just do set idx = 1 to set a variable, but that syntax is not recommended because the variable name may clash with a set sub-command. As an example set w=1 would not be valid.

This means that you should prefer the syntax: set variable idx = 1 or set var idx = 1.

Last but not least, you can just use your trusty old print command, since it evaluates an expression. The only difference being that he also prints the result of the expression.

(gdb) p idx = 1
$1 = 1

You can read more about gdb here.

How to save RecyclerView's scroll position using RecyclerView.State?

In my case I was setting the RecyclerView's layoutManager both in XML and in onViewCreated. Removing the assignment in onViewCreated fixed it.

Altering user-defined table types in SQL Server

you cant ALTER/MODIFY your TYPE. You have to drop the existing and re-create it with correct name/datatype or add a new column/s

No converter found capable of converting from type to type

Turns out, when the table name is different than the model name, you have to change the annotations to:

@Entity
@Table(name = "table_name")
class WhateverNameYouWant {
    ...

Instead of simply using the @Entity annotation.

What was weird for me, is that the class it was trying to convert to didn't exist. This worked for me.

Error - "UNION operator must have an equal number of expressions" when using CTE for recursive selection

The problem lays here:

--This result set has 3 columns
select LOC_id,LOC_locatie,LOC_deelVan_LOC_id from tblLocatie t
where t.LOC_id = 1 -- 1 represents an example

union all

--This result set has 1 columns
select t.LOC_locatie + '>' from tblLocatie t
inner join q parent on parent.LOC_id = t.LOC_deelVan_LOC_id

In order to use union or union all number of columns and their types should be identical cross all result sets.

I guess you should just add the column LOC_deelVan_LOC_id to your second result set

Concatenating date with a string in Excel

Thanks for the solution !

It works, but in a french Excel environment, you should apply something like

How to plot vectors in python using matplotlib

How about something like

import numpy as np
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

V = np.array([[1,1], [-2,2], [4,-7]])
origin = np.array([[0, 0, 0],[0, 0, 0]]) # origin point

plt.quiver(*origin, V[:,0], V[:,1], color=['r','b','g'], scale=21)
plt.show()

enter image description here

Then to add up any two vectors and plot them to the same figure, do so before you call plt.show(). Something like:

plt.quiver(*origin, V[:,0], V[:,1], color=['r','b','g'], scale=21)
v12 = V[0] + V[1] # adding up the 1st (red) and 2nd (blue) vectors
plt.quiver(*origin, v12[0], v12[1])
plt.show()

enter image description here

NOTE: in Python2 use origin[0], origin[1] instead of *origin

How to calculate the number of days between two dates?

I have written this solution for another post who asked, how to calculate the difference between two dates, so I share what I have prepared:

// Here are the two dates to compare
var date1 = '2011-12-24';
var date2 = '2012-01-01';

// First we split the values to arrays date1[0] is the year, [1] the month and [2] the day
date1 = date1.split('-');
date2 = date2.split('-');

// Now we convert the array to a Date object, which has several helpful methods
date1 = new Date(date1[0], date1[1], date1[2]);
date2 = new Date(date2[0], date2[1], date2[2]);

// We use the getTime() method and get the unixtime (in milliseconds, but we want seconds, therefore we divide it through 1000)
date1_unixtime = parseInt(date1.getTime() / 1000);
date2_unixtime = parseInt(date2.getTime() / 1000);

// This is the calculated difference in seconds
var timeDifference = date2_unixtime - date1_unixtime;

// in Hours
var timeDifferenceInHours = timeDifference / 60 / 60;

// and finaly, in days :)
var timeDifferenceInDays = timeDifferenceInHours  / 24;

alert(timeDifferenceInDays);

You can skip some steps in the code, I have written it so to make it easy to understand.

You'll find a running example here: http://jsfiddle.net/matKX/

WCF vs ASP.NET Web API

The new ASP.NET Web API is a continuation of the previous WCF Web API project (although some of the concepts have changed).

WCF was originally created to enable SOAP-based services. For simpler RESTful or RPCish services (think clients like jQuery) ASP.NET Web API should be good choice.

For us, WCF is used for SOAP and Web API for REST. I wish Web API supported SOAP too. We are not using advanced features of WCF. Here is comparison from MSDN:

enter image description here

ASP.net Web API is all about HTTP and REST based GET,POST,PUT,DELETE with well know ASP.net MVC style of programming and JSON returnable; web API is for all the light weight process and pure HTTP based components. For one to go ahead with WCF even for simple or simplest single web service it will bring all the extra baggage. For light weight simple service for ajax or dynamic calls always WebApi just solves the need. This neatly complements or helps in parallel to the ASP.net MVC.

Check out the podcast : Hanselminutes Podcast 264 - This is not your father's WCF - All about the WebAPI with Glenn Block by Scott Hanselman for more information.

In the scenarios listed below you should go for WCF:

  1. If you need to send data on protocols like TCP, MSMQ or MIME
  2. If the consuming client just knows how to consume SOAP messages

WEB API is a framework for developing RESTful/HTTP services.

There are so many clients that do not understand SOAP like Browsers, HTML5, in those cases WEB APIs are a good choice.

HTTP services header specifies how to secure service, how to cache the information, type of the message body and HTTP body can specify any type of content like HTML not just XML as SOAP services.

Utils to read resource text file to String (Java)

Here is my approach worked fine

public String getFileContent(String fileName) {
    String filePath = "myFolder/" + fileName+ ".json";
    try(InputStream stream = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(filePath)) {
        return IOUtils.toString(stream, "UTF-8");
    } catch (IOException e) {
        // Please print your Exception
    }
}

What's the difference between 'int?' and 'int' in C#?

int? is the same thing as Nullable. It allows you to have "null" values in your int.

Empty ArrayList equals null

No, this will not work. The best you will be able to do is to iterate through all values and check them yourself:

boolean empty = true;
for (Object item : arrayList) {
    if (item != null) {
        empty = false;
        break;
    }
}

Getting cursor position in Python

connect by level<= (select (length(name)-length(replace(name,'-','')))+1 from table));

Difference between binary tree and binary search tree

A binary tree is a tree whose children are never more than two. A binary search tree follows the invariant that the left child should have a smaller value than the root node's key, while the right child should have a greater value than the root node's key.

Getting the current Fragment instance in the viewpager

I had the same issue and solved it using this code.

MyFragment fragment = (MyFragment) thisActivity.getFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.container);

Just replace the name MyFragment with the name of your fragment and add the id of your fragment container.

How to get all the AD groups for a particular user?

The following example is from the Code Project article, (Almost) Everything In Active Directory via C#:

// userDn is a Distinguished Name such as:
// "LDAP://CN=Joe Smith,OU=Sales,OU=domain,OU=com"
public ArrayList Groups(string userDn, bool recursive)
{
    ArrayList groupMemberships = new ArrayList();
    return AttributeValuesMultiString("memberOf", userDn,
        groupMemberships, recursive);
}

public ArrayList AttributeValuesMultiString(string attributeName,
     string objectDn, ArrayList valuesCollection, bool recursive)
{
    DirectoryEntry ent = new DirectoryEntry(objectDn);
    PropertyValueCollection ValueCollection = ent.Properties[attributeName];
    IEnumerator en = ValueCollection.GetEnumerator();

    while (en.MoveNext())
    {
        if (en.Current != null)
        {
            if (!valuesCollection.Contains(en.Current.ToString()))
            {
                valuesCollection.Add(en.Current.ToString());
                if (recursive)
                {
                    AttributeValuesMultiString(attributeName, "LDAP://" +
                    en.Current.ToString(), valuesCollection, true);
                }
            }
        }
    }
    ent.Close();
    ent.Dispose();
    return valuesCollection;
}

Just call the Groups method with the Distinguished Name for the user, and pass in the bool flag to indicate if you want to include nested / child groups memberships in your resulting ArrayList:

ArrayList groups = Groups("LDAP://CN=Joe Smith,OU=Sales,OU=domain,OU=com", true);
foreach (string groupName in groups)
{
    Console.WriteLine(groupName);
}

If you need to do any serious level of Active Directory programming in .NET I highly recommend bookmarking & reviewing the Code Project article I mentioned above.

How to copy data from one HDFS to another HDFS?

distcp is used for copying data to and from the hadoop filesystems in parallel. It is similar to the generic hadoop fs -cp command. In the background process, distcp is implemented as a MapReduce job where mappers are only implemented for copying in parallel across the cluster.

Usage:

  • copy one file to another

    % hadoop distcp file1 file2

  • copy directories from one location to another

    % hadoop distcp dir1 dir2

If dir2 doesn't exist then it will create that folder and copy the contents. If dir2 already exists, then dir1 will be copied under it. -overwrite option forces the files to be overwritten within the same folder. -update option updates only the files that are changed.

  • transferring data between two HDFS clusters

    % hadoop distcp -update -delete hdfs://nn1/dir1 hdfs://nn2/dir2

-delete option deletes the files or directories from the destination that are not present in the source.

How to reload current page in ReactJS?

Since React eventually boils down to plain old JavaScript, you can really place it anywhere! For instance, you could place it on a componentDidMount() in a React class.

For you edit, you may want to try something like this:

class Component extends React.Component {
  constructor(props) {
    super(props);
    this.onAddBucket = this.onAddBucket.bind(this);
  }
  componentWillMount() {
    this.setState({
      buckets: {},
    })
  }
  componentDidMount() {
    this.onAddBucket();
  }
  onAddBucket() {
    let self = this;
    let getToken = localStorage.getItem('myToken');
    var apiBaseUrl = "...";
    let input = {
      "name" :  this.state.fields["bucket_name"]
    }
    axios.defaults.headers.common['Authorization'] = getToken;
    axios.post(apiBaseUrl+'...',input)
    .then(function (response) {
      if (response.data.status == 200) {
        this.setState({
          buckets: this.state.buckets.concat(response.data.buckets),
        });
      } else {
        alert(response.data.message);
      }
    })
    .catch(function (error) {
      console.log(error);
    });
  }
  render() {
    return (
      {this.state.bucket}
    );
  }
}

How can I get column names from a table in SQL Server?

How do I capture the output into a variable from an external process in PowerShell?

Another real-life example:

$result = & "$env:cust_tls_store\Tools\WDK\x64\devcon.exe" enable $strHwid 2>&1 | Out-String

Notice that this example includes a path (which begins with an environment variable). Notice that the quotes must surround the path and the EXE file, but not the parameters!

Note: Don't forget the & character in front of the command, but outside of the quotes.

The error output is also collected.

It took me a while to get this combination working, so I thought that I would share it.

Regular expression to match a word or its prefix

Square brackets are meant for character class, and you're actually trying to match any one of: s, |, s (again), e, a, s (again), o and n.

Use parentheses instead for grouping:

(s|season)

or non-capturing group:

(?:s|season)

Note: Non-capture groups tell the engine that it doesn't need to store the match, while the other one (capturing group does). For small stuff, either works, for 'heavy duty' stuff, you might want to see first if you need the match or not. If you don't, better use the non-capture group to allocate more memory for calculation instead of storing something you will never need to use.

What's the best way to select the minimum value from several columns?

There are likely to be many ways to accomplish this. My suggestion is to use Case/When to do it. With 3 columns, it's not too bad.

Select Id,
       Case When Col1 < Col2 And Col1 < Col3 Then Col1
            When Col2 < Col1 And Col2 < Col3 Then Col2

how to convert a string to date in mysql?

The following illustrates the syntax of the STR_TO_DATE() function:

STR_TO_DATE(str,fmt);

The STR_TO_DATE() converts the str string into a date value based on the fmt format string. The STR_TO_DATE() function may return a DATE , TIME, or DATETIME value based on the input and format strings. If the input string is illegal, the STR_TO_DATE() function returns NULL.

The following statement converts a string into a DATE value.

SELECT STR_TO_DATE('21,5,2013','%d,%m,%Y');

enter image description here

Based on the format string ‘%d, %m, %Y’, the STR_TO_DATE() function scans the ‘21,5,2013’ input string.

  • First, it attempts to find a match for the %d format specifier, which is a day of the month (01…31), in the input string. Because the number 21 matches with the %d specifier, the function takes 21 as the day value.
  • Second, because the comma (,) literal character in the format string matches with the comma in the input string, the function continues to check the second format specifier %m , which is a month (01…12), and finds that the number 5 matches with the %m format specifier. It takes the number 5 as the month value.
  • Third, after matching the second comma (,), the STR_TO_DATE() function keeps finding a match for the third format specifier %Y , which is four-digit year e.g., 2012,2013, etc., and it takes the number 2013 as the year value.

The STR_TO_DATE() function ignores extra characters at the end of the input string when it parses the input string based on the format string. See the following example:

SELECT STR_TO_DATE('21,5,2013 extra characters','%d,%m,%Y');

How to generate Entity Relationship (ER) Diagram of a database using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio?

Diagrams are back as of the June 11 2019 release

Download latest

as stated:

Yes, we’ve heard the feedback; Database Diagrams is back.

SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 18.1 is now generally available

?? Latest Version Does Not Included It ??

Sadly, the last version of SSMS to have database diagrams as a feature was version v17.9.

Since that version, the newer preview versions starting at v18.* have, in their words "...feature has been deprecated".

Hope is not lost though, for one can still download and use v17.9 to use database diagrams which as an aside for this question is technically not a ER diagramming tool.

As of this writing it is unclear if the release version of 18 will have the feature, I hope so because it is a feature I use extensively.

multiple plot in one figure in Python

The OP states that each plot element overwrites the previous one rather than being combined into a single plot. This can happen even with one of the many suggestions made by other answers. If you select several lines and run them together, say:

plt.plot(<X>, <Y>)
plt.plot(<X>, <Z>)

the plot elements will typically be rendered together, one layer on top of the other. But if you execute the code line-by-line, each plot will overwrite the previous one.

This perhaps is what happened to the OP. It just happened to me: I had set up a new key binding to execute code by a single key press (on spyder), but my key binding was executing only the current line. The solution was to select lines by whole blocks or to run the whole file.

SQLSTATE[HY093]: Invalid parameter number: parameter was not defined

I had the same error. My issue was using the wrong parameter name when binding.

Notice :tokenHash in the query, but :token_hash when binding. Fixing one or the other resolves the error in this instance.

// Prepare DB connection
$sql = 'INSERT INTO rememberedlogins (token_hash,user_id,expires_at)
        VALUES (:tokenHash,:user_id,:expires_at)';
$db = static::getDB();
$stmt = $db->prepare($sql);

// Bind values

As we all know that IPv4 address for localhost is 127.0.0.1 (loopback address).

Actually, any IPv4 address in 127.0.0.0/8 is a loopback address.

In IPv6, the direct analog of the loopback range is ::1/128. So ::1 (long form 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1) is the one and only IPv6 loopback address.

While the hostname localhost will normally resolve to 127.0.0.1 or ::1, I have seen cases where someone has bound it to an IP address that is not a loopback address. This is a bit crazy ... but sometimes people do it.

I say "this is crazy" because you are liable to break applications assumptions by doing this; e.g. an application may attempt to do a reverse lookup on the loopback IP and not get the expected result. In the worst case, an application may end up sending sensitive traffic over an insecure network by accident ... though you probably need to make other mistakes as well to "achieve" that.

Blocking 0.0.0.0 makes no sense. In IPv4 it is never routed. The equivalent in IPv6 is the :: address (long form 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0) ... which is also never routed.

The 0.0.0.0 and :: addresses are reserved to mean "any address". So, for example a program that is providing a web service may bind to 0.0.0.0 port 80 to accept HTTP connections via any of the host's IPv4 addresses. These addresses are not valid as a source or destination address for an IP packet.

Finally, some comments were asking about ::/128 versus ::/0 versus ::.

What is this difference?

Strictly speaking, the first two are CIDR notation not IPv6 addresses. They are actually specifying a range of IP addresses. A CIDR consists of a IP address and an additional number that specifies the number of bits in a netmask. The two together specify a range of addresses; i.e. the set of addresses formed by ignoring the bits masked out of the given address.

So:

  • :: means just the IPv6 address 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0
  • ::/128 means 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0 with a netmask consisting of 128 bits. This gives a network range with exactly one address in it.
  • ::/0 means 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0 with a netmask consisting of 0 bits. This gives a network range with 2128 addresses in it.; i.e. it is the entire IPv6 address space!

How to get images in Bootstrap's card to be the same height/width?

I dont believe you can without cropping them, I mean you could make the divs the same height by using jquery however this will not make the images the same size.

You could take a look at using Masonry which will make this look decent.

Making an image act like a button

It sounds like you want an image button:

<input type="image" src="logg.png" name="saveForm" class="btTxt submit" id="saveForm" />

Alternatively, you can use CSS to make the existing submit button use your image as its background.

In any case, you don't want a separate <img /> element on the page.

html select option SELECTED

This is simple example by using ternary operator to set selected=selected

<?php $plan = array('1' => 'Green','2'=>'Red' ); ?>
<select class="form-control" title="Choose Plan">
<?php foreach ($plan as $key => $value) { ?>
  <option value="<?php echo $key;?>" <?php echo ($key ==  '2') ? ' selected="selected"' : '';?>><?php echo $value;?></option>
<?php } ?>
</select>

How can I remove punctuation from input text in Java?

If you don't want to use RegEx (which seems highly unnecessary given your problem), perhaps you should try something like this:

public String modified(final String input){
    final StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
    for(final char c : input.toCharArray())
        if(Character.isLetterOrDigit(c))
            builder.append(Character.isLowerCase(c) ? c : Character.toLowerCase(c));
    return builder.toString();
}

It loops through the underlying char[] in the String and only appends the char if it is a letter or digit (filtering out all symbols, which I am assuming is what you are trying to accomplish) and then appends the lower case version of the char.

How do I find if a string starts with another string in Ruby?

The method mentioned by steenslag is terse, and given the scope of the question it should be considered the correct answer. However it is also worth knowing that this can be achieved with a regular expression, which if you aren't already familiar with in Ruby, is an important skill to learn.

Have a play with Rubular: http://rubular.com/

But in this case, the following ruby statement will return true if the string on the left starts with 'abc'. The \A in the regex literal on the right means 'the beginning of the string'. Have a play with rubular - it will become clear how things work.

'abcdefg' =~  /\Aabc/

How to send a POST request from node.js Express?

As described here for a post request :

var http = require('http');

var options = {
  host: 'www.host.com',
  path: '/',
  port: '80',
  method: 'POST'
};

callback = function(response) {
  var str = ''
  response.on('data', function (chunk) {
    str += chunk;
  });

  response.on('end', function () {
    console.log(str);
  });
}

var req = http.request(options, callback);
//This is the data we are posting, it needs to be a string or a buffer
req.write("data");
req.end();

Center fixed div with dynamic width (CSS)

You can center a fixed or absolute positioned element setting right and left to 0, and then margin-left & margin-right to auto as if you were centering a static positioned element.

#example {
    position: fixed;
    /* center the element */
    right: 0;
    left: 0;
    margin-right: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
    /* give it dimensions */
    min-height: 10em;
    width: 90%;
}

See this example working on this fiddle.

Is it possible to disable scrolling on a ViewPager

I created a Kotlin version based on converting this answer from Java: https://stackoverflow.com/a/13437997/8023278

There is no built in way to disable swiping between pages of a ViewPager, what's required is an extension of ViewPager that overrides onTouchEvent and onInterceptTouchEvent to prevent the swiping action. To make it more generalised we can add a method setSwipePagingEnabled to enable/disable swiping between pages.

class SwipeLockableViewPager(context: Context, attrs: AttributeSet): ViewPager(context, attrs) {
    private var swipeEnabled = false

    override fun onTouchEvent(event: MotionEvent): Boolean {
        return when (swipeEnabled) {
            true -> super.onTouchEvent(event)
            false -> false
        }
    }

    override fun onInterceptTouchEvent(event: MotionEvent): Boolean {
        return when (swipeEnabled) {
            true -> super.onInterceptTouchEvent(event)
            false -> false
        }
    }

    fun setSwipePagingEnabled(swipeEnabled: Boolean) {
        this.swipeEnabled = swipeEnabled
    }
}

Then in our layout xml we use our new SwipeLockableViewPager instead of the standard ViewPager

<mypackage.SwipeLockableViewPager
        android:id="@+id/myViewPager"
        android:layout_height="match_parent"
        android:layout_width="match_parent" />

Now in our activity/fragment we can call myViewPager.setSwipePagingEnabled(false) and users won't be able to swipe between pages

UPDATE

As of 2020 we now have ViewPager2. If you migrate to ViewPager2 there is a built in method to disable swiping: myViewPager2.isUserInputEnabled = false

How can I make a div stick to the top of the screen once it's been scrolled to?

This is how i did it with jquery. This was all cobbled together from various answers on stack overflow. This solution caches the selectors for faster performance and also solves the "jumping" issue when the sticky div becomes sticky.

Check it out on jsfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/HQS8s/

CSS:

.stick {
    position: fixed;
    top: 0;
}

JS:

$(document).ready(function() {
    // Cache selectors for faster performance.
    var $window = $(window),
        $mainMenuBar = $('#mainMenuBar'),
        $mainMenuBarAnchor = $('#mainMenuBarAnchor');

    // Run this on scroll events.
    $window.scroll(function() {
        var window_top = $window.scrollTop();
        var div_top = $mainMenuBarAnchor.offset().top;
        if (window_top > div_top) {
            // Make the div sticky.
            $mainMenuBar.addClass('stick');
            $mainMenuBarAnchor.height($mainMenuBar.height());
        }
        else {
            // Unstick the div.
            $mainMenuBar.removeClass('stick');
            $mainMenuBarAnchor.height(0);
        }
    });
});

jsonify a SQLAlchemy result set in Flask

I've been looking at this problem for the better part of a day, and here's what I've come up with (credit to https://stackoverflow.com/a/5249214/196358 for pointing me in this direction).

(Note: I'm using flask-sqlalchemy, so my model declaration format is a bit different from straight sqlalchemy).

In my models.py file:

import json

class Serializer(object):
  __public__ = None
  "Must be implemented by implementors"

  def to_serializable_dict(self):
    dict = {}
    for public_key in self.__public__:
      value = getattr(self, public_key)
      if value:
        dict[public_key] = value
    return dict

class SWEncoder(json.JSONEncoder):
  def default(self, obj):
    if isinstance(obj, Serializer):
      return obj.to_serializable_dict()
    if isinstance(obj, (datetime)):
      return obj.isoformat()
    return json.JSONEncoder.default(self, obj)

def SWJsonify(*args, **kwargs):
  return current_app.response_class(json.dumps(dict(*args, **kwargs), cls=SWEncoder, indent=None if request.is_xhr else 2), mimetype='application/json')
  # stolen from https://github.com/mitsuhiko/flask/blob/master/flask/helpers.py

and all my model objects look like this:

class User(db.Model, Serializer):
  __public__ = ['id','username']
  ... field definitions ...

In my views I call SWJsonify wherever I would have called Jsonify, like so:

@app.route('/posts')
def posts():
  posts = Post.query.limit(PER_PAGE).all()
  return SWJsonify({'posts':posts })

Seems to work pretty well. Even on relationships. I haven't gotten far with it, so YMMV, but so far it feels pretty "right" to me.

Suggestions welcome.

How to loop through all the files in a directory in c # .net?

string[] files =

How to cast the size_t to double or int C++

You can use Boost numeric_cast.

This throws an exception if the source value is out of range of the destination type, but it doesn't detect loss of precision when converting to double.

Whatever function you use, though, you should decide what you want to happen in the case where the value in the size_t is greater than INT_MAX. If you want to detect it use numeric_cast or write your own code to check. If you somehow know that it cannot possibly happen then you could use static_cast to suppress the warning without the cost of a runtime check, but in most cases the cost doesn't matter anyway.

Why are unnamed namespaces used and what are their benefits?

Having something in an anonymous namespace means it's local to this translation unit (.cpp file and all its includes) this means that if another symbol with the same name is defined elsewhere there will not be a violation of the One Definition Rule (ODR).

This is the same as the C way of having a static global variable or static function but it can be used for class definitions as well (and should be used rather than static in C++).

All anonymous namespaces in the same file are treated as the same namespace and all anonymous namespaces in different files are distinct. An anonymous namespace is the equivalent of:

namespace __unique_compiler_generated_identifer0x42 {
    ...
}
using namespace __unique_compiler_generated_identifer0x42;

Can a for loop increment/decrement by more than one?

The last part of the ternary operator allows you to specify the increment step size. For instance, i++ means increment by 1. i+=2 is same as i=i+2,... etc. Example:

let val= [];

for (let i = 0; i < 9; i+=2) {
  val = val + i+",";
}

console.log(val);

Expected results: "2,4,6,8"

'i' can be any floating point or whole number depending on the desired step size.

Check image width and height before upload with Javascript

You can do the steps for previewing the image without showing it which is supported on all browsers. Following js code shows you how to check the width and height :

var file = e.target.files[0];
if (/\.(jpe?g|png|gif)$/i.test(file.name)) {
    var reader = new FileReader();
    reader.addEventListener("load", function () {
        var image = new Image();
        image.src = this.result as string;
        image.addEventListener('load', function () {
            console.log(`height: ${this.height}, width: ${this.width}`);
        });

    }, false);

    reader.readAsDataURL(file);
}

Based on Mozilla docs:

The readAsDataURL method is used to read the contents of the specified Blob or File. When the read operation is finished, the readyState becomes DONE, and the loadend is triggered. At that time, the result attribute contains the data as a data: URL representing the file's data as a base64 encoded string.

And the browser compatibility is listed too.

android - listview get item view by position

Preferred way to change the appearance/whatever of row views once the ListView is drawn is to change something in the data ListView draws from (the array of objects that is passed into your Adapter) and make sure to account for that in your getView() function, then redraw the ListView by calling

notifyDataSetChanged();

EDIT: while there is a way to do this, if you need to do this chances are doing something wrong. While are few edge cases I can think about, generally using notifyDataSetChanged() and other built in mechanisms is a way to go.

EDIT 2: One of the common mistakes people make is trying to come up with their own way to respond to user clicking/selecting a row in the ListView, as in one of the comments to this post. There is an existing way to do this. Here's how:

mListView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() {
    /* Parameters
    parent: The AdapterView where the click happened.
    view: The view within the AdapterView that was clicked (this will be a view provided by the adapter)
    position: The position of the view in the adapter.
    id: The row id of the item that was clicked. */
    @Override
    public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
        //your code here
    }
});

ListView has a lot of build-in functionality and there is no need to reinvent the wheel for simpler cases. Since ListView extends AdapterView, you can set the same Listeners, such as OnItemClickListener as in the example above.

How can I pad a String in Java?

Java oneliners, no fancy library.

// 6 characters padding example
String pad = "******";
// testcases for 0, 4, 8 characters
String input = "" | "abcd" | "abcdefgh"

Pad Left, don't limit

result = pad.substring(Math.min(input.length(),pad.length())) + input;
results: "******" | "**abcd" | "abcdefgh"

Pad Right, don't limit

result = input + pad.substring(Math.min(input.length(),pad.length()));
results: "******" | "abcd**" | "abcdefgh"

Pad Left, limit to pad length

result = (pad + input).substring(input.length(), input.length() + pad.length());
results: "******" | "**abcd" | "cdefgh"

Pad Right, limit to pad length

result = (input + pad).substring(0, pad.length());
results: "******" | "abcd**" | "abcdef"

Convert textbox text to integer

You don't need to write a converter, just do this in your handler/codebehind:

int i = Convert.ToInt32(txtMyTextBox.Text);

OR

int i = int.Parse(txtMyTextBox.Text);

The Text property of your textbox is a String type, so you have to perform the conversion in the code.

python 2.7: cannot pip on windows "bash: pip: command not found"

The problem is that your Python version and the library you want to use are not same versionally (Python). Even if you install Python's latest version, your PATH might not change properly and automatically. Thus, you should change it manually.After matching their version, it will work.

Ex: When I tried to install Django3, I got same error. I noticed that my PATH still seems C:\python27\Scripts though I already install Python3.8, so that I manually edited my PATH C:\python38\Scripts and reinstalled pip install Django and everything worked well.

Converting a string to an integer on Android

See the Integer class and the static parseInt() method:

http://developer.android.com/reference/java/lang/Integer.html

Integer.parseInt(et.getText().toString());

You will need to catch NumberFormatException though in case of problems whilst parsing, so:

int myNum = 0;

try {
    myNum = Integer.parseInt(et.getText().toString());
} catch(NumberFormatException nfe) {
   System.out.println("Could not parse " + nfe);
}

How to build and run Maven projects after importing into Eclipse IDE

When you add dependency in pom.xml , do a maven clean , and then maven build , it will add the jars into you project.

You can search dependency artifacts at http://mvnrepository.com/

And if it doesn't add jars it should give you errors which will mean that it is not able to fetch the jar, that could be due to broken repository or connection problems.

Well sometimes if it is one or two jars, better download them and add to build path , but with a lot of dependencies use maven.

docker container ssl certificates

You can use relative path to mount the volume to container:

docker run -v `pwd`/certs:/container/path/to/certs ...

Note the back tick on the pwd which give you the present working directory. It assumes you have the certs folder in current directory that the docker run is executed. Kinda great for local development and keep the certs folder visible to your project.

php refresh current page?

PHP refresh current page

With PHP code:

<?php
$secondsWait = 1;
header("Refresh:$secondsWait");
echo date('Y-m-d H:i:s');
?>

Note: Remember that header() must be called before any actual output is sent, either by normal HTML tags, blank lines in a file, or from PHP.

if you send any output, you can use javascript:

<?php
echo date('Y-m-d H:i:s');
echo '<script type="text/javascript">location.reload(true);</script>';
?>

When this method receives a true value as argument, it will cause the page to always be reloaded from the server. If it is false or not specified, the browser may reload the page from its cache.

Or you can explicitly use "meta refresh" (with pure html):

<?php
$secondsWait = 1;
echo date('Y-m-d H:i:s');
echo '<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="'.$secondsWait.'">';
?>

Greetings and good code,

VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for both all CPU modes (VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED)

Turning PAE/NX on/off didn't work for me. I just needed to turn on virtualization on my computer. I was working on a HP Compaq 8200 and followed the steps below to turn on virtualization. If you are working on a different computer, you probably just need to look up how to turn on virtualization on your pc. The steps below for HP Compaq 8200 (or similar) is copied verbatim from the comment posted by the user qqdmax5 on Hp discussion board here.

To run Oracle VM Virtual Box / VMware machines on 64-bit host there is a need to enable Virtualization Technology (VTx) and Virtualization Technology Directed I/O (VTd).

Usually these setting are disabled on the level of BIOS.

To enable VTx and VTd you have to change corresponding settings in the BIOS.

Here is an example how to do it for HP Compaq 8200 or similar PC:

  1. Start the machine.
  2. Press F10 to enter BIOS.
  3. Security-> System Security
  4. Enable Virtualization Technology (VTx) and Virtualization Technology Directed I/O (VTd).
  5. Save and restart the machine.

There is also some discussion on this on askubuntu.

C++ - how to find the length of an integer

Closed formula for the longest int (I used int here, but works for any signed integral type):

1 + (int) ceil((8*sizeof(int)-1) * log10(2))

Explanation:

                  sizeof(int) // number bytes in int
                8*sizeof(int) // number of binary digits (bits)
                8*sizeof(int)-1 // discount one bit for the negatives
               (8*sizeof(int)-1) * log10(2)   // convert to decimal, because:
                                              // 1 bit == log10(2) decimal digits
    (int) ceil((8*sizeof(int)-1) * log10(2)) // round up to whole digits
1 + (int) ceil((8*sizeof(int)-1) * log10(2))  // make room for the minus sign

For an int type of 4 bytes, the result is 11. An example of 4 bytes int with 11 decimal digits is: "-2147483648".

If you want the number of decimal digits of some int value, you can use the following function:

unsigned base10_size(int value)
{
    if(value == 0) {
        return 1u;
    }

    unsigned ret;
    double dval;
    if(value > 0) {
        ret = 0;
        dval = value;
    } else {
        // Make room for the minus sign, and proceed as if positive.
        ret = 1;
        dval = -double(value);
    }

    ret += ceil(log10(dval+1.0));

    return ret;
}

I tested this function for the whole range of int in g++ 9.3.0 for x86-64.

  2. Then it tricked users to enter their username and password.

Technically the evil has an iframe with the source to the victim page.

<html>
    <iframe src='victim_domain.com'/>
    <input id="username" type="text" style="display: none;"/>
    <input id="password" type="text" style="display: none;"/>
    <script>
        //some JS code that click jacking the user username and input from inside the iframe...
    <script/>
<html>

How the security feature work

If you want to prevent web server request to be rendered within an iframe add the x-frame-options

X-Frame-Options DENY

The options are:

  1. SAMEORIGIN //allow only to my own domain render my HTML inside an iframe.
  2. DENY //do not allow my HTML to be rendered inside any iframe
  3. "ALLOW-FROM https://example.com/" //allow specific domain to render my HTML inside an iframe

This is IIS config example:

   <httpProtocol>
       <customHeaders>
           <add name="X-Frame-Options" value="SAMEORIGIN" />
       </customHeaders>
   </httpProtocol>

The solution to the question

If the web server activated the security feature it may cause a client-side SecurityError as it should.

Select multiple columns in data.table by their numeric indices

It's a bit verbose, but i've gotten used to using the hidden .SD variable.

b<-data.table(a=1,b=2,c=3,d=4)
b[,.SD,.SDcols=c(1:2)]

It's a bit of a hassle, but you don't lose out on other data.table features (I don't think), so you should still be able to use other important functions like join tables etc.

How to list files inside a folder with SQL Server

If you want you can achieve this using a CLR Function/Assembly.

  1. Create a SQL Server CLR Assembly Project.
  2. Go to properties and ensure the permission level on the Connection is setup to external
  3. Add A Sql Function to the Assembly.

Here's an example which will allow you to select form your result set like a table.

public partial class UserDefinedFunctions
{
    [SqlFunction(DataAccess = DataAccessKind.Read,
        FillRowMethodName = "GetFiles_FillRow", TableDefinition = "FilePath nvarchar(4000)")]
    public static IEnumerable GetFiles(SqlString path)
    {
        return System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(path.ToString()).Select(s => new SqlString(s));
    }

    public static void GetFiles_FillRow(object obj,out SqlString filePath)
    {
        filePath = (SqlString)obj;
    }
};

And your SQL query.

use MyDb

select * From GetFiles('C:\Temp\');

Be aware though, your database needs to have CLR Assembly functionaliy enabled using the following SQL Command.

sp_configure 'clr enabled', 1
GO
RECONFIGURE
GO

CLR Assemblies (like XP_CMDShell) are disabled by default so if the reason for not using XP Cmd Shell is because you don't have permission, then you may be stuck with this option as well... just FYI.

Save and retrieve image (binary) from SQL Server using Entity Framework 6

Convert the image to a byte[] and store that in the database.

Add this column to your model:

public byte[] Content { get; set; }

Then convert your image to a byte array and store that like you would any other data:

public byte[] ImageToByteArray(System.Drawing.Image imageIn)
{
    using(var ms = new MemoryStream())
    {
        imageIn.Save(ms, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Gif);

        return ms.ToArray();
    }
}

public Image ByteArrayToImage(byte[] byteArrayIn)
{
     using(var ms = new MemoryStream(byteArrayIn))
     {
         var returnImage = Image.FromStream(ms);

         return returnImage;
     }
}

Source: Fastest way to convert Image to Byte array

var image = new ImageEntity()
{
   Content = ImageToByteArray(image)
};

_context.Images.Add(image);
_context.SaveChanges();

When you want to get the image back, get the byte array from the database and use the ByteArrayToImage and do what you wish with the Image

This stops working when the byte[] gets to big. It will work for files under 100Mb

Difference between the Apache HTTP Server and Apache Tomcat?

an apache server is an http server which can serve any simple http requests, where tomcat server is actually a servlet container which can serve java servlet requests.

Web server [apache] process web client (web browsers) requests and forwards it to servlet container [tomcat] and container process the requests and sends response which gets forwarded by web server to the web client [browser].

Angular HTML binding

We can always pass html content to innerHTML property to render html dynamic content but that dynamic html content can be infected or malicious also. So before passing dynamic content to innerHTML we should always make sure the content is sanitized (using DOMSanitizer) so that we can escaped all malicious content.

Try below pipe:

import { Pipe, PipeTransform } from "@angular/core";
import { DomSanitizer } from "@angular/platform-browser";

@Pipe({name: 'safeHtml'})
export class SafeHtmlPipe implements PipeTransform {
    constructor(private sanitized: DomSanitizer) {
    }
    transform(value: string) {
        return this.sanitized.bypassSecurityTrustHtml(value);
    }
}

Usage:
<div [innerHTML]="content | safeHtml"></div>

Microsoft Advertising SDK doesn't deliverer ads

I only use MicrosoftAdvertising.Mobile and Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.UI and I am served ads. The SDK should only add the DLLs not reference itself.

Note: You need to explicitly set width and height Make sure the phone dialer, and web browser capabilities are enabled

Followup note: Make sure that after you've removed the SDK DLL, that the xmlns references are not still pointing to it. The best route to take here is

  1. Remove the XAML for the ad
  2. Remove the xmlns declaration (usually at the top of the page, but sometimes will be declared in the ad itself)
  3. Remove the bad DLL (the one ending in .SDK )
  4. Do a Clean and then Build (clean out anything remaining from the DLL)
  5. Add the xmlns reference (actual reference is below)
  6. Add the ad to the page (example below)

Here is the xmlns reference:

xmlns:AdNamepace="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.UI;assembly=Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.UI"

Then the ad itself:

<AdNamespace:AdControl x:Name="myAd" Height="80" Width="480"                    AdUnitId="yourAdUnitIdHere" ApplicationId="yourIdHere"/>

Deleting Objects in JavaScript

Setting a variable to null makes sure to break any references to objects in all browsers including circular references being made between the DOM elements and Javascript scopes. By using delete command we are marking objects to be cleared on the next run of the Garbage collection, but if there are multiple variables referencing the same object, deleting a single variable WILL NOT free the object, it will just remove the linkage between that variable and the object. And on the next run of the Garbage collection, only the variable will be cleaned.

How do I split a string by a multi-character delimiter in C#?

or

    enter code here

line="[email protected][email protected]";

What are static factory methods?

It all boils down to maintainability. The best way to put this is whenever you use the new keyword to create an object, you're coupling the code that you're writing to an implementation.

The factory pattern lets you separate how you create an object from what you do with the object. When you create all of your objects using constructors, you are essentially hard-wiring the code that uses the object to that implementation. The code that uses your object is "dependent on" that object. This may not seem like a big deal on the surface, but when the object changes (think of changing the signature of the constructor, or subclassing the object) you have to go back and rewire things everywhere.

Today factories have largely been brushed aside in favor of using Dependency Injection because they require a lot of boiler-plate code that turns out to be a little hard to maintain itself. Dependency Injection is basically equivalent to factories but allows you to specify how your objects get wired together declaratively (through configuration or annotations).

Undefined symbols for architecture armv7

If you're building from Unity3D 5 and also using a Prime31 plugin and you're getting this error it's probably due to a duplicate .dll. If you look through your warnings in Unity's editor one of them will tell you this and warn that it could cause build errors. To see if this is the case, type P31 in your project search field and it should pop right up, maybe even more than one. The duplicate's will have a ' 1' at the end of the file name. This is probably caused from updating the plugin in editor via the store or the Prime31 menu tab.

Java List.contains(Object with field value equal to x)

Google Guava

If you're using Guava, you can take a functional approach and do the following

FluentIterable.from(list).find(new Predicate<MyObject>() {
   public boolean apply(MyObject input) {
      return "John".equals(input.getName());
   }
}).Any();

which looks a little verbose. However the predicate is an object and you can provide different variants for different searches. Note how the library itself separates the iteration of the collection and the function you wish to apply. You don't have to override equals() for a particular behaviour.

As noted below, the java.util.Stream framework built into Java 8 and later provides something similar.

How to print Unicode character in Python?

Print a unicode character in Python:

Print a unicode character directly from python interpreter:

el@apollo:~$ python
Python 2.7.3
>>> print u'\u2713'
?

Unicode character u'\u2713' is a checkmark. The interpreter prints the checkmark on the screen.

Print a unicode character from a python script:

Put this in test.py:

#!/usr/bin/python
print("here is your checkmark: " + u'\u2713');

Run it like this:

el@apollo:~$ python test.py
here is your checkmark: ?

If it doesn't show a checkmark for you, then the problem could be elsewhere, like the terminal settings or something you are doing with stream redirection.

Store unicode characters in a file:

Save this to file: foo.py:

#!/usr/bin/python -tt
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
import codecs
import sys
UTF8Writer = codecs.getwriter('utf8')
sys.stdout = UTF8Writer(sys.stdout)
print(u'e with obfuscation: é')

Run it and pipe output to file:

python foo.py > tmp.txt

Open tmp.txt and look inside, you see this:

el@apollo:~$ cat tmp.txt
e with obfuscation: é

Thus you have saved unicode e with a obfuscation mark on it to a file.

Error message "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires stdole Version 7.0.3300.0 in the GAC"

My solution: I opened the references folder in Solution Explorer (showing all files), and for each assembly that the installation complained about (the name of the assembly may not be exactly the same as the filename of the assembly - within object explorer, but easy enough to figure out), I changed the Copy Local to True. I ended up needing to do that with each Microsoft Office/COM-related assembly.

How much does it cost to develop an iPhone application?

There are ways of paying less to get an application, developed than paying the going rate, but very often you get what you pay for - inexperienced developers who leave you with a mess of spaghetti code that's impossible to maintain, or experienced developers with whom you have to communicate across a cultural and language gap.

Developing an app like Twitterific is not easy. It's an extraordinarily polished app with a lot of attention to detail that most people - indeed many developers - would fail to notice or realize the effort behind. You may be able to get a Twitter iPhone client written for $3500 or $5000 by going offshore or by being willing to "work with inexperienced developers", but you're not going to get Twitterific for that, and it's doubtful you'd get even a halfway decent application for that amount.

And you likely will end up spending a lot of time managing the process, going back and forth on requirements, and fighting to get what you really want instead of what they want to give you.

There's also a risk with "cut-rate" development, whether it's offshore or just using inexperienced developers - you may very well end up with something you can't use, or something that gets 1 star ratings because it crashes or behaves erratically. You might find the occasional underpriced gem of a developer, but they won't stay underpriced for long given the sheer demand in this market right now.

By virtue of my books and blog, people often reach out to me when they need help with their iPhone applications. I get, on average, 4 or 5 inquiries a month from people asking for help fixing applications they had developed either over-seas or by inexperienced developers here in the States. In most cases, I end up having to tell them they'd be better off throwing their code out and starting over with a developer who knows what they're doing rather than trying to fix the code they bought on the cheap. If they insist on trying to "fix" what they have, I decline the work.

Adding 'serial' to existing column in Postgres

You can also use START WITH to start a sequence from a particular point, although setval accomplishes the same thing, as in Euler's answer, eg,

SELECT MAX(a) + 1 FROM foo;
CREATE SEQUENCE foo_a_seq START WITH 12345; -- replace 12345 with max above
ALTER TABLE foo ALTER COLUMN a SET DEFAULT nextval('foo_a_seq');

Jquery array.push() not working

another workaround:

var myarray = [];
$("#test").click(function() {
    myarray[index]=$("#drop").val();
    alert(myarray);
});

i wanted to add all checked checkbox to array. so example, if .each is used:

var vpp = [];
var incr=0;
$('.prsn').each(function(idx) {
   if (this.checked) {
       var p=$('.pp').eq(idx).val();
       vpp[incr]=(p);
       incr++;
   }
});
//do what ever with vpp array;

Identify duplicates in a List

A thread-safe alternative is this:

/**
 * Returns all duplicates that are in the list as a new {@link Set} thread-safe.
 * <p>
 * Usually the Set will contain only the last duplicate, however the decision
 * what elements are equal depends on the implementation of the {@link List}. An
 * exotic implementation of {@link List} might decide two elements are "equal",
 * in this case multiple duplicates might be returned.
 *
 * @param <X> The type of element to compare.
 * @param list The list that contains the elements, never <code>null</code>.
 * @return A set of all duplicates in the list. Returns only the last duplicate.
 */
public <X extends Object> Set<X> findDuplicates(List<X> list) {
    Set<X> dups = new LinkedHashSet<>(list.size());
    synchronized (list) {
        for (X x : list) {
            if (list.indexOf(x) != list.lastIndexOf(x)) {
                dups.add(x);
            }
        }
    }
    return dups;
}

Stopping fixed position scrolling at a certain point?

I liked this solution

$(window).scroll(function(){
    $("#theFixed").css("margin-top",Math.max(-250,0-$(this).scrollTop()));
});

my problem was that I had to deal with a position relative container in Adobe Muse.

My solution:

$(window).scroll(function(){
    if($(this).scrollTop()>425) {
         $("#theRelative").css("margin-top",$(this).scrollTop()-425);
    }
});

Why is C so fast, and why aren't other languages as fast or faster?

Even the difference between C and C++ can at times be great.

When you are allocating memory for an object, invoking constructors, aligning memory on word boundaries, etc. the program winds up going through a lot of overhead that is abstracted away from the programmer.

C forces you to take a look at each thing that your program is doing, generally at a very fine level of detail. This makes it harder (although not by any means impossible) to write code that does a lot of tasks that are unnecessary to the immediate goal at hand.

So where in, for instance a BASIC program you would use the INPUT keyword to read a string form STDIN and automatically allocate memory for its variable, in C the programmer will typically have already allocated memory and can control things like whether the program blocks for I/O or not, and if it stops reading input after it has the information it needs or continues reading characters to the end of the line.

C also performs a lot less error-checking than other languages, presuming the programmer knows what they're doing. So whereas in PHP if you declare a string $myStr = getInput(); and go on to reference $myStr[20], but the input was only 10 characters long, PHP will catch this and safely return to you a blank string. C assumes that you've either allocated enough memory to hold data past the end of the string or that you know what information comes after the string and are trying to reference that instead. These small factors have a huge impact on overhead in aggregate.

Get current batchfile directory

Within your .bat file:

set mypath=%cd%

You can now use the variable %mypath% to reference the file path to the .bat file. To verify the path is correct:

@echo %mypath%

For example, a file called DIR.bat with the following contents

set mypath=%cd%
@echo %mypath%
Pause

run from the directory g:\test\bat will echo that path in the DOS command window.

SecurityError: The operation is insecure - window.history.pushState()

Make sure you are following the Same Origin Policy. This means same domain, same subdomain, same protocol (http vs https) and same port.

How does pushState protect against potential content forgeries?

EDIT: As @robertc aptly pointed out in his comment, some browsers actually implement slightly different security policies when the origin is file:///. Not to mention you can encounter problems when testing locally with file:/// when the page expects it is running from a different origin (and so your pushState assumes production origin scenarios, not localhost scenarios)

Extracting .jar file with command line

Note that a jar file is a Zip file, and any Zip tool (such as 7-Zip) can look inside the jar.

Index of element in NumPy array

This problem can be solved efficiently using the numpy_indexed library (disclaimer: I am its author); which was created to address problems of this type. npi.indices can be viewed as an n-dimensional generalisation of list.index. It will act on nd-arrays (along a specified axis); and also will look up multiple entries in a vectorized manner as opposed to a single item at a time.

a = np.random.rand(50, 60, 70)
i = np.random.randint(0, len(a), 40)
b = a[i]

import numpy_indexed as npi
assert all(i == npi.indices(a, b))

This solution has better time complexity (n log n at worst) than any of the previously posted answers, and is fully vectorized.

How to parse data in JSON format?

For URL or file, use json.load(). For string with .json content, use json.loads().

#! /usr/bin/python

cube = '1'

with open(json_file) as json_data:
    data = json.load(json_data)

How to search contents of multiple pdf files?

There is pdfgrep, which does exactly what its name suggests.

pdfgrep -R 'a pattern to search recursively from path' /some/path

I've used it for simple searches and it worked fine.

(There are packages in Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora.)

Since version 1.3.0 pdfgrep supports recursive search. This version is available in Ubuntu since Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal).

What is the difference between Scope_Identity(), Identity(), @@Identity, and Ident_Current()?

Here is another good explanation from the book:

As for the difference between SCOPE_IDENTITY and @@IDENTITY, suppose that you have a stored procedure P1 with three statements:
- An INSERT that generates a new identity value
- A call to a stored procedure P2 that also has an INSERT statement that generates a new identity value
- A statement that queries the functions SCOPE_IDENTITY and @@IDENTITY The SCOPE_IDENTITY function will return the value generated by P1 (same session and scope). The @@IDENTITY function will return the value generated by P2 (same session irrespective of scope).

REST API - file (ie images) processing - best practices

There's no easy solution. Each way has their pros and cons . But the canonical way is using the first option: multipart/form-data. As W3 recommendation guide says

The content type "multipart/form-data" should be used for submitting forms that contain files, non-ASCII data, and binary data.

We aren't sending forms,really, but the implicit principle still applies. Using base64 as a binary representation, is incorrect because you're using the incorrect tool for accomplish your goal, in other hand, the second option forces your API clients to do more job in order to consume your API service. You should do the hard work in the server side in order to supply an easy-to-consume API. The first option is not easy to debug, but when you do it, it probably never changes.

Using multipart/form-data you're sticked with the REST/http philosophy. You can view an answer to similar question here.

Another option if mixing the alternatives, you can use multipart/form-data but instead of send every value separate, you can send a value named payload with the json payload inside it. (I tried this approach using ASP.NET WebAPI 2 and works fine).

Select records from today, this week, this month php mysql

Nathan's answer is very close however it will return a floating result set. As the time shifts, records will float off of and onto the result set. Using the DATE() function on NOW() will strip the time element from the date creating a static result set. Since the date() function is applied to now() instead of the actual date column performance should be higher since applying a function such as date() to a date column inhibits MySql's ability to use an index.

To keep the result set static use:

SELECT * FROM jokes WHERE date > DATE_SUB(DATE(NOW()), INTERVAL 1 DAY)
ORDER BY score DESC;

SELECT * FROM jokes WHERE date > DATE_SUB(DATE(NOW()), INTERVAL 1 WEEK)
ORDER BY score DESC;

SELECT * FROM jokes WHERE date > DATE_SUB(DATE(NOW()), INTERVAL 1 MONTH)
ORDER BY score DESC;

What is git fast-forwarding?

When you try to merge one commit with a commit that can be reached by following the first commit’s history, Git simplifies things by moving the pointer forward because there is no divergent work to merge together – this is called a “fast-forward.”

For more : http://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-Branching-Basic-Branching-and-Merging

In another way,

If Master has not diverged, instead of creating a new commit, git will just point master to the latest commit of the feature branch. This is a “fast forward.”

There won't be any "merge commit" in fast-forwarding merge.

How to add ASP.NET 4.0 as Application Pool on IIS 7, Windows 7

I just encountered this and whilst we already had .NET 4.0 installed on the server it turns out we only had the "Client Profile" version and not the "Full" version. Installing the latter fixed the problem.

How can I see the size of files and directories in linux?

You can use ncdu disk usage analyzer here. It displays the size of the files and directories in an ncurses interface. You can navigate to each directory and see the files sizes from the same interface.

To install

$ sudo apt-get install ncdu

To analyze

$ ncdu <directory>

How to Correctly Check if a Process is running and Stop it

If you don't need to display exact result "running" / "not runnuning", you could simply:

ps notepad -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | kill -PassThru

If the process was not running, you'll get no results. If it was running, you'll receive get-process output, and the process will be stopped.

Prevent line-break of span element

Put this in your CSS:

white-space:nowrap;

Get more information here: http://www.w3.org/wiki/CSS/Properties/white-space

white-space

The white-space property declares how white space inside the element is handled.

Values

normal This value directs user agents to collapse sequences of white space, and break lines as necessary to fill line boxes.

pre This value prevents user agents from collapsing sequences of white space. Lines are only broken at newlines in the source, or at occurrences of "\A" in generated content.

nowrap This value collapses white space as for 'normal', but suppresses line breaks within text.

pre-wrap This value prevents user agents from collapsing sequences of white space. Lines are broken at newlines in the source, at occurrences of "\A" in generated content, and as necessary to fill line boxes.

pre-line This value directs user agents to collapse sequences of white space. Lines are broken at newlines in the source, at occurrences of "\A" in generated content, and as necessary to fill line boxes.

inherit Takes the same specified value as the property for the element's parent.

Convert json to a C# array?

just take the string and use the JavaScriptSerializer to deserialize it into a native object. For example, having this json:

string json = "[{Name:'John Simith',Age:35},{Name:'Pablo Perez',Age:34}]";

You'd need to create a C# class called, for example, Person defined as so:

public class Person
{
 public int Age {get;set;}
 public string Name {get;set;}
}

You can now deserialize the JSON string into an array of Person by doing:

JavaScriptSerializer js = new JavaScriptSerializer();
Person [] persons =  js.Deserialize<Person[]>(json);

Here's a link to JavaScriptSerializer documentation.

Note: my code above was not tested but that's the idea Tested it. Unless you are doing something "exotic", you should be fine using the JavascriptSerializer.

How do you make an anchor link non-clickable or disabled?

You could use the onclick event to disable the click action:

<a href='' id='ThisLink' onclick='return false'>some text</a>

Or you could just use something other than an <a> tag.

Executing a shell script from a PHP script

I would have a directory somewhere called scripts under the WWW folder so that it's not reachable from the web but is reachable by PHP.

e.g. /var/www/scripts/testscript

Make sure the user/group for your testscript is the same as your webfiles. For instance if your client.php is owned by apache:apache, change the bash script to the same user/group using chown. You can find out what your client.php and web files are owned by doing ls -al.

Then run

<?php
      $message=shell_exec("/var/www/scripts/testscript 2>&1");
      print_r($message);
    ?>

EDIT:

If you really want to run a file as root from a webserver you can try this binary wrapper below. Check out this solution for the same thing you want to do.

Execute root commands via PHP

git pull error :error: remote ref is at but expected

I ran this to solve the problem:

Java Serializable Object to Byte Array

I would like to transmit it as byte[] over sockets to another machine

// When you connect
ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream());
// When you want to send it
oos.writeObject(appMessage);

where it is rebuilt from the bytes received.

// When you connect
ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(socket.getInputStream());
// When you want to receive it
AppMessage appMessage = (AppMessage)ois.readObject();

How to dynamically add a class to manual class names?

const ClassToggleFC= () =>{

  const [isClass, setClass] = useState(false);

  const toggle =() => {
       setClass( prevState => !prevState)
  }

  return(
      <>
        <h1 className={ isClass ? "heading" : ""}> Hiii There </h1>
       <button onClick={toggle}>Toggle</button>
      </>
   )

}

I simply created a Function Component. Inside I take a state and set initial value is false..

I have a button for toggling state..

Whenever we change state rerender component and if state value (isClass) is false h1's className should be "" and if state value (isClass) is true h1's className is "heading"

How are Anonymous inner classes used in Java?

One more advantage:
As you know that Java doesn't support multiple inheritance, so if you use "Thread" kinda class as anonymous class then the class still has one space left for any other class to extend.

Python - List of unique dictionaries

Here's a reasonably compact solution, though I suspect not particularly efficient (to put it mildly):

>>> ds = [{'id':1,'name':'john', 'age':34},
...       {'id':1,'name':'john', 'age':34},
...       {'id':2,'name':'hanna', 'age':30}
...       ]
>>> map(dict, set(tuple(sorted(d.items())) for d in ds))
[{'age': 30, 'id': 2, 'name': 'hanna'}, {'age': 34, 'id': 1, 'name': 'john'}]

Install npm (Node.js Package Manager) on Windows (w/o using Node.js MSI)

Try going to Window -> Preferences -> Nodeclipse and unchecking the box that says "find node on PATH...". Then make sure the "Node.js path" below is set to the location of the node.exe file (for me it was C:\Program Files (x86)\nodejs\node.exe).

            controller: 'TodoCtrl'
        })

Where do I download JDBC drivers for DB2 that are compatible with JDK 1.5?

Right here: http://jt400.sourceforge.net/

This is what I use for that exact purpose.

EDIT: Usage Examples (minus exceptions):

// Driver initialization
AS400JDBCDriver driver = new com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver();
DriverManager.registerDriver(driver);

// JDBC Connection URL
String url = "jdbc:as400://10.10.10.10" + ";promt=false" // disable GUI prompting by jt400 library

// Get a Connection object (this is used to create statements, etc)
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, UserString, PassString);

Hope that helps!

MySQL - how to front pad zip code with "0"?

Ok, so you've switched the column from Number to VARCHAR(5). Now you need to update the zipcode field to be left-padded. The SQL to do that would be:

UPDATE MyTable
SET ZipCode = LPAD( ZipCode, 5, '0' );

This will pad all values in the ZipCode column to 5 characters, adding '0's on the left.

Of course, now that you've got all of your old data fixed, you need to make sure that your any new data is also zero-padded. There are several schools of thought on the correct way to do that:

  • Handle it in the application's business logic. Advantages: database-independent solution, doesn't involve learning more about the database. Disadvantages: needs to be handled everywhere that writes to the database, in all applications.

  • Handle it with a stored procedure. Advantages: Stored procedures enforce business rules for all clients. Disadvantages: Stored procedures are more complicated than simple INSERT/UPDATE statements, and not as portable across databases. A bare INSERT/UPDATE can still insert non-zero-padded data.

  • Handle it with a trigger. Advantages: Will work for Stored Procedures and bare INSERT/UPDATE statements. Disadvantages: Least portable solution. Slowest solution. Triggers can be hard to get right.

In this case, I would handle it at the application level (if at all), and not the database level. After all, not all countries use a 5-digit Zipcode (not even the US -- our zipcodes are actually Zip+4+2: nnnnn-nnnn-nn) and some allow letters as well as digits. Better NOT to try and force a data format and to accept the occasional data error, than to prevent someone from entering the correct value, even though it's format isn't quite what you expected.

Uninitialized Constant MessagesController

Your model is @Messages, change it to @message.

To change it like you should use migration:

def change   rename_table :old_table_name, :new_table_name end

Of course do not create that file by hand but use rails generator:

rails g migration ChangeMessagesToMessage

That will generate new file with proper timestamp in name in 'db dir. Then run:

rake db:migrate

And your app should be fine since then.

Re-order columns of table in Oracle

I followed the solution above from Jonas and it worked well until I needed to add a second column. What I found is that when making the columns visible again Oracle does not necessarily set them visible in the order listed in the statement.

To demonstrate this follow Jonas' example above. As he showed, once the steps are complete the table is in the order that you'd expect. Things then break down when you add another column as shown below:

Example (continued from Jonas'):

Add another column which is to be inserted before column C.

ALTER TABLE t ADD (b2 INT);

Use the technique demonstrated above to move the newly added B2 column before column C.

ALTER TABLE t MODIFY (c INVISIBLE, d INVISIBLE, e INVISIBLE);
ALTER TABLE t MODIFY (c VISIBLE, d VISIBLE, e VISIBLE);

DESCRIBE t;

Name
----
A
B
B2
D
E
C

As shown above column C has moved to the end. It seems that the ALTER TABLE statement above processed the columns in the order D, E, C rather than in the order specified in the statement (perhaps in physical table order). To ensure that the column is placed where desired it is necessary to make the columns visible one by one in the desired order.

ALTER TABLE t MODIFY (c INVISIBLE, d INVISIBLE, e INVISIBLE);
ALTER TABLE t MODIFY c VISIBLE;
ALTER TABLE t MODIFY d VISIBLE;
ALTER TABLE t MODIFY e VISIBLE;

DESCRIBE t;

Name
----
A
B
B2
C
D
E

xlrd.biffh.XLRDError: Excel xlsx file; not supported

As noted in the release email, linked to from the release tweet and noted in large orange warning that appears on the front page of the documentation, and less orange, but still present, in the readme on the repository and the release on pypi:

xlrd has explicitly removed support for anything other than xls files.

In your case, the solution is to:

  • make sure you are on a recent version of Pandas, at least 1.0.1, and preferably the latest release. 1.2 will make his even clearer.
  • install openpyxl: https://openpyxl.readthedocs.io/en/stable/
  • change your Pandas code to be:
    df1 = pd.read_excel(
         os.path.join(APP_PATH, "Data", "aug_latest.xlsm"),
         engine='openpyxl',
    )

Android EditText delete(backspace) key event

Here is my easy solution, which works for all the API's:

private int previousLength;
private boolean backSpace;

// ...

@Override
public void beforeTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int count, int after) {
    previousLength = s.length();
}

@Override
public void onTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int before, int count) {
}

@Override
public void afterTextChanged(Editable s) {
    backSpace = previousLength > s.length();

    if (backSpace) {

        // do your stuff ...

    }
}

UPDATE 17.04.18 .
As pointed out in comments, this solution doesn't track the backspace press if EditText is empty (the same as most of the other solutions).
However, it's enough for most of the use cases.
P.S. If I had to create something similar today, I would do:

public abstract class TextWatcherExtended implements TextWatcher {

    private int lastLength;

    public abstract void afterTextChanged(Editable s, boolean backSpace);

    @Override
    public void beforeTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int count, int after) {
        lastLength = s.length();
    }

    @Override
    public void afterTextChanged(Editable s) {
        afterTextChanged(s, lastLength > s.length());
    }
}

Then just use it as a regular TextWatcher:

 editText.addTextChangedListener(new TextWatcherExtended() {
        @Override
        public void afterTextChanged(Editable s, boolean backSpace) {
           // Here you are! You got missing "backSpace" flag
        }

        @Override
        public void onTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int before, int count) {
            // Do something useful if you wish.
            // Or override it in TextWatcherExtended class if want to avoid it here
        }
    });

Fragment onCreateView and onActivityCreated called twice

The two upvoted answers here show solutions for an Activity with navigation mode NAVIGATION_MODE_TABS, but I had the same issue with a NAVIGATION_MODE_LIST. It caused my Fragments to inexplicably lose their state when the screen orientation changed, which was really annoying. Thankfully, due to their helpful code I managed to figure it out.

Basically, when using a list navigation, ``onNavigationItemSelected()is automatically called when your activity is created/re-created, whether you like it or not. To prevent your Fragment'sonCreateView()from being called twice, this initial automatic call toonNavigationItemSelected()should check whether the Fragment is already in existence inside your Activity. If it is, return immediately, because there is nothing to do; if it isn't, then simply construct the Fragment and add it to the Activity like you normally would. Performing this check prevents your Fragment from needlessly being created again, which is what causesonCreateView()` to be called twice!

See my onNavigationItemSelected() implementation below.

public class MyActivity extends FragmentActivity implements ActionBar.OnNavigationListener
{
    private static final String STATE_SELECTED_NAVIGATION_ITEM = "selected_navigation_item";

    private boolean mIsUserInitiatedNavItemSelection;

    // ... constructor code, etc.

    @Override
    public void onRestoreInstanceState(Bundle savedInstanceState)
    {
        super.onRestoreInstanceState(savedInstanceState);

        if (savedInstanceState.containsKey(STATE_SELECTED_NAVIGATION_ITEM))
        {
            getActionBar().setSelectedNavigationItem(savedInstanceState.getInt(STATE_SELECTED_NAVIGATION_ITEM));
        }
    }

    @Override
    public void onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState)
    {
        outState.putInt(STATE_SELECTED_NAVIGATION_ITEM, getActionBar().getSelectedNavigationIndex());

        super.onSaveInstanceState(outState);
    }

    @Override
    public boolean onNavigationItemSelected(int position, long id)
    {
        Fragment fragment;
        switch (position)
        {
            // ... choose and construct fragment here
        }

        // is this the automatic (non-user initiated) call to onNavigationItemSelected()
        // that occurs when the activity is created/re-created?
        if (!mIsUserInitiatedNavItemSelection)
        {
            // all subsequent calls to onNavigationItemSelected() won't be automatic
            mIsUserInitiatedNavItemSelection = true;

            // has the same fragment already replaced the container and assumed its id?
            Fragment existingFragment = getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.container);
            if (existingFragment != null && existingFragment.getClass().equals(fragment.getClass()))
            {
                return true; //nothing to do, because the fragment is already there
            }
        }

        getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction().replace(R.id.container, fragment).commit();
        return true;
    }
}

I borrowed inspiration for this solution from here.

Change bootstrap navbar background color and font color

No need for the specificity .navbar-default in your CSS. Background color requires background-color:#cc333333 (or just background:#cc3333). Finally, probably best to consolidate all your customizations into a single class, as below:

.navbar-custom {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    background-color: #CC3333;
}

..

<div id="menu" class="navbar navbar-default navbar-custom">

Git push requires username and password

For Windows Git users, after running git config --global credential.helper store, if it still prompts for a password, you'd better check where the configuration file is written to, using this command

git config --list --show-origin

In my case, after manually editing configuration file 'C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64\etc\gitconfig', and adding the following text, it worked.

[credential]
