Angular2 Routing with Hashtag to page anchor

Use this for the router module in app-routing.module.ts:

@NgModule({
  imports: [RouterModule.forRoot(routes, {
    useHash: true,
    scrollPositionRestoration: 'enabled',
    anchorScrolling: 'enabled',
    scrollOffset: [0, 64]
  })],
  exports: [RouterModule]
})

This will be in your HTML:

<a href="#/users/123#userInfo">

How to do a regular expression replace in MySQL?

we solve this problem without using regex this query replace only exact match string.

update employee set
employee_firstname =
trim(REPLACE(concat(" ",employee_firstname," "),' jay ',' abc '))

Example:

emp_id employee_firstname

1 jay

2 jay ajay

3 jay

After executing query result:

emp_id employee_firstname

1 abc

2 abc ajay

3 abc

Adding a Scrollable JTextArea (Java)

  3. open surround with option
  4. select "...JScrollPane".

How do I properly 'printf' an integer and a string in C?

You're on the right track. Here's a corrected version:

char str[10];
int n;

printf("type a string: ");
scanf("%s %d", str, &n);

printf("%s\n", str);
printf("%d\n", n);

Let's talk through the changes:

  1. allocate an int (n) to store your number in
  2. tell scanf to read in first a string and then a number (%d means number, as you already knew from your printf

That's pretty much all there is to it. Your code is a little bit dangerous, still, because any user input that's longer than 9 characters will overflow str and start trampling your stack.

MySQL & Java - Get id of the last inserted value (JDBC)

Alternatively you can do:

Statement stmt = db.prepareStatement(query, Statement.RETURN_GENERATED_KEYS);
numero = stmt.executeUpdate();

ResultSet rs = stmt.getGeneratedKeys();
if (rs.next()){
    risultato=rs.getString(1);
}

But use Sean Bright's answer instead for your scenario.

No value accessor for form control

For anyone experiencing this in angular 9+

This issue can also be experienced if you do not declare or import the component that declares your component.

Lets consider a situation where you intend to use ng-select but you forget to import it Angular will throw the error 'No value accessor...'

I have reproduced this error in the Below stackblitz demo.

What is difference between functional and imperative programming languages?

Most modern languages are in varying degree both imperative and functional but to better understand functional programming, it will be best to take an example of pure functional language like Haskell in contrast of imperative code in not so functional language like java/C#. I believe it is always easy to explain by example, so below is one.

Functional programming: calculate factorial of n i.e n! i.e n x (n-1) x (n-2) x ...x 2 X 1

-- | Haskell comment goes like
-- | below 2 lines is code to calculate factorial and 3rd is it's execution

factorial 0 = 1
factorial n = n * factorial (n - 1)
factorial 3

-- | for brevity let's call factorial as f; And x => y shows order execution left to right
-- | above executes as := f(3) as 3 x f(2) => f(2) as 2 x f(1) => f(1) as 1 x f(0) => f(0) as 1
-- | 3 x (2 x (1 x (1)) = 6

Notice that Haskel allows function overloading to the level of argument value. Now below is example of imperative code in increasing degree of imperativeness:

//somewhat functional way
function factorial(n) {
  if(n < 1) {
     return 1;
  }
  return n * factorial(n-1);
}
factorial(3);

//somewhat more imperative way
function imperativeFactor(n) {
  int f = 1;
  for(int i = 1; i <= n; i++) {
     f = f * i;
  }
  return f;
}

This read can be a good reference to understand that how imperative code focus more on how part, state of machine (i in for loop), order of execution, flow control.

The later example can be seen as java/C# lang code roughly and first part as limitation of the language itself in contrast of Haskell to overload the function by value (zero) and hence can be said it is not purist functional language, on the other hand you can say it support functional prog. to some extent.

Disclosure: none of the above code is tested/executed but hopefully should be good enough to convey the concept; also I would appreciate comments for any such correction :)

Check if a string is null or empty in XSLT

If there is a possibility that the element does not exist in the XML I would test both that the element is present and that the string-length is greater than zero:

<xsl:choose>
    <xsl:when test="categoryName and string-length(categoryName) &gt; 0">
        <xsl:value-of select="categoryName " />
    </xsl:when>
    <xsl:otherwise>
        <xsl:value-of select="other" />
    </xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>

Avoiding "resource is out of sync with the filesystem"

This happens to me all the time.

Go to the error log, find the exception, and open a few levels until you can see something more like a root cause. Does it says "Resource is out of sync with the file system" ?

When renaming packages, of course, Eclipse has to move files around in the file system. Apparently what happens is that it later discovers that something it thinks it needs to clean up has been renamed, can't find it, throws an exception.

There are a couple of things you might try. First, go to Window: Preferences, Workspace, and enable "Refresh Automatically". In theory this should fix the problem, but for me, it didn't.

Second, if you are doing a large refactoring with subpackages, do the subpackages one at a time, from the bottom up, and explicitly refresh with the file system after each subpackage is renamed.

Third, just ignore the error: when the error dialog comes up, click Abort to preserve the partial change, instead of rolling it back. Try it again, and again, and you may find you can get through the entire operation using multiple retries.

How to change the output color of echo in Linux

How to retrieve current workspace using Jenkins Pipeline Groovy script?

For me just ${workspace} worked without even initializing the variable 'workspace.'

Assigning a function to a variable

When you assign a function to a variable you don't use the () but simply the name of the function.

In your case given def x(): ..., and variable silly_var you would do something like this:

silly_var = x

and then you can call the function either with

x()

or

silly_var()

How to mount host volumes into docker containers in Dockerfile during build

There is a way to mount a volume during a build, but it doesn't involve Dockerfiles.

The technique would be to create a container from whatever base you wanted to use (mounting your volume(s) in the container with the -v option), run a shell script to do your image building work, then commit the container as an image when done.

Not only will this leave out the excess files you don't want (this is good for secure files as well, like SSH files), it also creates a single image. It has downsides: the commit command doesn't support all of the Dockerfile instructions, and it doesn't let you pick up when you left off if you need to edit your build script.

UPDATE:

For example,

CONTAINER_ID=$(docker run -dit ubuntu:16.04)
docker cp build.sh $CONTAINER_ID:/build.sh
docker exec -t $CONTAINER_ID /bin/sh -c '/bin/sh /build.sh'
docker commit $CONTAINER_ID $REPO:$TAG
docker stop $CONTAINER_ID

Swap DIV position with CSS only

The accepted answer worked for most browsers but for some reason on iOS Chrome and Safari browsers the content that should have shown second was being hidden. I tried some other steps that forced content to stack on top of each other, and eventually I tried the following solution that gave me the intended effect (switch content display order on mobile screens), without bugs of stacked or hidden content:

.container {
  display:flex;
  flex-direction: column-reverse;
}

.section1,
.section2 {
  height: auto;
}

binning data in python with scipy/numpy

Not sure why this thread got necroed; but here is a 2014 approved answer, which should be far faster:

import numpy as np

data = np.random.rand(100)
bins = 10
slices = np.linspace(0, 100, bins+1, True).astype(np.int)
counts = np.diff(slices)

mean = np.add.reduceat(data, slices[:-1]) / counts
print mean

$(this).attr("id") not working

Because of the way the function is called (i.e. as a simple call to a function variable), this is the global object (for which window is an alias in browsers). Use the obj parameter instead.

Also, creating a jQuery object and the using its attr() method for obtaining an element ID is inefficient and unnecessary. Just use the element's id property, which works in all browsers.

function showHideOther(obj){
    var sel = obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].value;
    var ID = obj.id;

    if (sel == 'other') {
        $(obj).html("<input type='text' name='" + ID + "' id='" + ID + "' />");
    } else {
        $(obj).css({'display' : 'none'});
    }
}

JNI converting jstring to char *

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Native_Interface
http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/jni/spec/functions.html

concerning your problem you can use this

JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_ClassName_MethodName(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jstring javaString)
{
   const char *nativeString = env->GetStringUTFChars(javaString, 0);

   // use your string

   env->ReleaseStringUTFChars(javaString, nativeString);
}

Comprehensive beginner's virtualenv tutorial?

For setting up virtualenv on a clean Ubuntu installation, I found this zookeeper tutorial to be the best - you can ignore the parts about zookeper itself. The virtualenvwrapper documentation offers similar content, but it's a bit scarce on telling you what exactly to put into your .bashrc file.

gcloud command not found - while installing Google Cloud SDK

I know this question has been answered, but here are my two cent. After installing gcloud, you need to restart the shell before you able to gcloud command.

How you do this, mostly depends on the file you keep your shell configuration. Most files are .bashrc_profile, .bashrc, .zshrc.

You can now restart with

source ~/.bashrc_profile

You can replace the file to the file you have.

Or if you don't care the file you have, on Mac or linux you can restart the shell .

exec -l $SHELL

How do I check whether a file exists without exceptions?

if os.path.isfile(path_to_file):
    try:
        open(path_to_file)
            pass
    except IOError as e:
        print "Unable to open file"

Raising exceptions is considered to be an acceptable, and Pythonic, approach for flow control in your program. Consider handling missing files with IOErrors. In this situation, an IOError exception will be raised if the file exists but the user does not have read permissions.

What does LayoutInflater in Android do?

What inflater does

It takes a xml layout as input (say) and converts it to View object.

Why needed

Let us think a scenario where we need to create a custom listview. Now each row should be custom. But how can we do it. Its not possible to assign a xml layout to a row of listview. So, we create a View object. Thus we can access the elements in it (textview,imageview etc) and also assign the object as row of listview

So, whenever we need to assign view type object somewhere and we have our custom xml design we just convert it to object by inflater and use it.

Using Java to pull data from a webpage?

Since Java 11 the most convenient way it to use java.net.http.HttpClient from the standard library.

Example:

HttpRequest request = HttpRequest.newBuilder(new URI(
    "https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6159118/using-java-to-pull-data-from-a-webpage"))
  .timeout(Duration.of(10, SECONDS))
  .GET()
  .build();

HttpResponse<String> response = HttpClient.newHttpClient()
  .send(request, BodyHandlers.ofString());

if (response.statusCode() != 200) {
  throw new RuntimeException(
    "Invalid response: " + response.statusCode() + ", request: " + response);
}

System.out.println(response.body());

How to add Active Directory user group as login in SQL Server

In SQL Server Management Studio, go to Object Explorer > (your server) > Security > Logins and right-click New Login:

enter image description here

Then in the dialog box that pops up, pick the types of objects you want to see (Groups is disabled by default - check it!) and pick the location where you want to look for your objects (e.g. use Entire Directory) and then find your AD group.

enter image description here

You now have a regular SQL Server Login - just like when you create one for a single AD user. Give that new login the permissions on the databases it needs, and off you go!

Any member of that AD group can now login to SQL Server and use your database.

python: how to send mail with TO, CC and BCC?

None of the above things worked for me as I had multiple recipients both in 'to' and 'cc'. So I tried like below:

recipients = ['[email protected]', '[email protected]']
cc_recipients = ['[email protected]', '[email protected]']
MESSAGE['To'] = ", ".join(recipients)
MESSAGE['Cc'] = ", ".join(cc_recipients)

and extend the 'recipients' with 'cc_recipients' and send mail in trivial way

recipients.extend(cc_recipients)
server.sendmail(FROM,recipients,MESSAGE.as_string())

How do I unbind "hover" in jQuery?

Actually, the jQuery documentation has a more simple approach than the chained examples shown above (although they'll work just fine):

$("#myElement").unbind('mouseenter mouseleave');

As of jQuery 1.7, you are also able use $.on() and $.off() for event binding, so to unbind the hover event, you would use the simpler and tidier:

$('#myElement').off('hover');

The pseudo-event-name "hover" is used as a shorthand for "mouseenter mouseleave" but was handled differently in earlier jQuery versions; requiring you to expressly remove each of the literal event names. Using $.off() now allows you to drop both mouse events using the same shorthand.

Edit 2016:

Still a popular question so it's worth drawing attention to @Dennis98's point in the comments below that in jQuery 1.9+, the "hover" event was deprecated in favour of the standard "mouseenter mouseleave" calls. So your event binding declaration should now look like this:

$('#myElement').off('mouseenter mouseleave');

ImportError: No module named win32com.client

pip install pywin32 didn't work for me but pypiwin32 did.

Dropping connected users in Oracle database

Sometimes Oracle drop user takes long time to execute. In that case user might be connected to the database. Better you can kill user session and drop the user.

SQL> select 'alter system kill session ''' || sid || ',' || serial# || ''' immediate;' from v$session where username ='&USERNAME';

SQL> DROP USER barbie CASCADE;

The term 'Get-ADUser' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet

If you don't see the Active Directory, it's because you did not install AD LS Users and Computer Feature. Go to Manage - Add Roles & Features. Within Add Roles and Features Wizard, on Features tab, select Remote Server Administration Tools, select - Role Admininistration Tools - Select AD DS and DF LDS Tools.

After that, you can see the PS Active Directory package.

Can I exclude some concrete urls from <url-pattern> inside <filter-mapping>?

The standard Servlet API doesn't support this facility. You may want either to use a rewrite-URL filter for this like Tuckey's one (which is much similar Apache HTTPD's mod_rewrite), or to add a check in the doFilter() method of the Filter listening on /*.

String path = ((HttpServletRequest) request).getRequestURI();
if (path.startsWith("/specialpath/")) {
    chain.doFilter(request, response); // Just continue chain.
} else {
    // Do your business stuff here for all paths other than /specialpath.
}

You can if necessary specify the paths-to-be-ignored as an init-param of the filter so that you can control it in the web.xml anyway. You can get it in the filter as follows:

private String pathToBeIgnored;

public void init(FilterConfig config) {
    pathToBeIgnored = config.getInitParameter("pathToBeIgnored");
}

If the filter is part of 3rd party API and thus you can't modify it, then map it on a more specific url-pattern, e.g. /otherfilterpath/* and create a new filter on /* which forwards to the path matching the 3rd party filter.

String path = ((HttpServletRequest) request).getRequestURI();
if (path.startsWith("/specialpath/")) {
    chain.doFilter(request, response); // Just continue chain.
} else {
    request.getRequestDispatcher("/otherfilterpath" + path).forward(request, response);
}

To avoid that this filter will call itself in an infinite loop you need to let it listen (dispatch) on REQUEST only and the 3rd party filter on FORWARD only.

What are the differences between char literals '\n' and '\r' in Java?

It actually depends on what is being used to print the result. Usually, the result is the same, just as you say -

Historically carriage return is supposed to do about what the home button does: return the caret to the start of the line.

\n is supposed to give you a new line but not move the caret.

If you think about old printers, you're pretty much thinking how the original authors of the character sets were thinking. It's a different operation moving the paper feeder and moving the caret. These two characters express that difference.

Android Canvas.drawText

Worked this out, turns out that android.R.color.black is not the same as Color.BLACK. Changed the code to:

Paint paint = new Paint();
paint.setColor(Color.WHITE);
paint.setStyle(Style.FILL);
canvas.drawPaint(paint);

paint.setColor(Color.BLACK);
paint.setTextSize(20);
canvas.drawText("Some Text", 10, 25, paint);

and it all works fine now!!

How do I exclude all instances of a transitive dependency when using Gradle?

in the example below I exclude

spring-boot-starter-tomcat

     //by both name and group
     exclude group: 'org.springframework.boot', module: 'spring-boot-starter-tomcat'

Get local IP address in Node.js

For anyone interested in brevity, here are some "one-liners" that do not require plugins/dependencies that aren't part of a standard Node.js installation:

Public IPv4 and IPv6 address of eth0 as an array:

var ips = require('os').networkInterfaces().eth0.map(function(interface) {
    return interface.address;
});

First public IP address of eth0 (usually IPv4) as a string:

var ip = require('os').networkInterfaces().eth0[0].address;

How to push a single file in a subdirectory to Github (not master)

Let me start by saying that the way git works is you are not pushing/fetching files; well, at least not directly.

You are pushing/fetching refs, that point to commits. Then a commit in git is a reference to a tree of objects (where files are represented as objects, among other objects).

So, when you are pushing a commit, what git does it pushes a set of references like in this picture:

git commits

If you didn't push your master branch yet, the whole history of the branch will get pushed.

So, in your example, when you commit and push your file, the whole master branch will be pushed, if it was not pushed before.

To do what you asked for, you need to create a clean branch with no history, like in this answer.

VBA (Excel) Initialize Entire Array without Looping

You can initialize the array by specifying the dimensions. For example

Dim myArray(10) As Integer
Dim myArray(1 to 10) As Integer

If you are working with arrays and if this is your first time then I would recommend visiting Chip Pearson's WEBSITE.

What does this initialize to? For example, what if I want to initialize the entire array to 13?

When you want to initailize the array of 13 elements then you can do it in two ways

Dim myArray(12) As Integer
Dim myArray(1 to 13) As Integer

In the first the lower bound of the array would start with 0 so you can store 13 elements in array. For example

myArray(0) = 1
myArray(1) = 2
'
'
'
myArray(12) = 13

In the second example you have specified the lower bounds as 1 so your array starts with 1 and can again store 13 values

myArray(1) = 1
myArray(2) = 2
'
'
'
myArray(13) = 13

Wnen you initialize an array using any of the above methods, the value of each element in the array is equal to 0. To check that try this code.

Sub Sample()
    Dim myArray(12) As Integer
    Dim i As Integer

    For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
        Debug.Print myArray(i)
    Next i
End Sub

or

Sub Sample()
    Dim myArray(1 to 13) As Integer
    Dim i As Integer

    For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
        Debug.Print myArray(i)
    Next i
End Sub

FOLLOWUP FROM COMMENTS

So, in this example every value would be 13. So if I had an array Dim myArray(300) As Integer, all 300 elements would hold the value 13

Like I mentioned, AFAIK, there is no direct way of achieving what you want. Having said that here is one way which uses worksheet function Rept to create a repetitive string of 13's. Once we have that string, we can use SPLIT using "," as a delimiter. But note this creates a variant array but can be used in calculations.

Note also, that in the following examples myArray will actually hold 301 values of which the last one is empty - you would have to account for that by additionally initializing this value or removing the last "," from sNum before the Split operation.

Sub Sample()
    Dim sNum As String
    Dim i As Integer
    Dim myArray

    '~~> Create a string with 13 three hundred times separated by comma
    '~~> 13,13,13,13...13,13 (300 times)
    sNum = WorksheetFunction.Rept("13,", 300)
    sNum = Left(sNum, Len(sNum) - 1)

    myArray = Split(sNum, ",")

    For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
        Debug.Print myArray(i)
    Next i
End Sub

Using the variant array in calculations

Sub Sample()
    Dim sNum As String
    Dim i As Integer
    Dim myArray

    '~~> Create a string with 13 three hundred times separated by comma
    sNum = WorksheetFunction.Rept("13,", 300)
    sNum = Left(sNum, Len(sNum) - 1)

    myArray = Split(sNum, ",")

    For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
        Debug.Print Val(myArray(i)) + Val(myArray(i))
    Next i
End Sub

Is it safe to store a JWT in localStorage with ReactJS?

It is safe to store your token in localStorage as long as you encrypt it. Below is a compressed code snippet showing one of many ways you can do it.

    import SimpleCrypto from 'simple-crypto-js';

    const saveToken = (token = '') => {
          const encryptInit = new SimpleCrypto('PRIVATE_KEY_STORED_IN_ENV_FILE');
          const encryptedToken = encryptInit.encrypt(token);

          localStorage.setItem('token', encryptedToken);
     }

Then, before using your token decrypt it using PRIVATE_KEY_STORED_IN_ENV_FILE

Using C++ filestreams (fstream), how can you determine the size of a file?

I'm a novice, but this is my self taught way of doing it:

ifstream input_file("example.txt", ios::in | ios::binary)

streambuf* buf_ptr =  input_file.rdbuf(); //pointer to the stream buffer

input.get(); //extract one char from the stream, to activate the buffer
input.unget(); //put the character back to undo the get()

size_t file_size = buf_ptr->in_avail();
//a value of 0 will be returned if the stream was not activated, per line 3.

How do synchronized static methods work in Java and can I use it for loading Hibernate entities?

To address the question more generally...

Keep in mind that using synchronized on methods is really just shorthand (assume class is SomeClass):

synchronized static void foo() {
    ...
}

is the same as

static void foo() {
    synchronized(SomeClass.class) {
        ...
    }
}

and

synchronized void foo() {
    ...
}

is the same as

void foo() {
    synchronized(this) {
        ...
    }
}

You can use any object as the lock. If you want to lock subsets of static methods, you can

class SomeClass {
    private static final Object LOCK_1 = new Object() {};
    private static final Object LOCK_2 = new Object() {};
    static void foo() {
        synchronized(LOCK_1) {...}
    }
    static void fee() {
        synchronized(LOCK_1) {...}
    }
    static void fie() {
        synchronized(LOCK_2) {...}
    }
    static void fo() {
        synchronized(LOCK_2) {...}
    }
}

(for non-static methods, you would want to make the locks be non-static fields)

Why is processing a sorted array faster than processing an unsorted array?

Branch prediction.

With a sorted array, the condition data[c] >= 128 is first false for a streak of values, then becomes true for all later values. That's easy to predict. With an unsorted array, you pay for the branching cost.

annotation to make a private method public only for test classes

Consider using interfaces to expose the API methods, using factories or DI to publish the objects so the consumers know them only by the interface. The interface describes the published API. That way you can make whatever you want public on the implementation objects and the consumers of them see only those methods exposed through the interface.

jQuery callback on image load (even when the image is cached)

A solution I found https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7731#c12 (This code taken directly from the comment)

var photo = document.getElementById('image_id');
var img = new Image();
img.addEventListener('load', myFunction, false);
img.src = 'http://newimgsource.jpg';
photo.src = img.src;

Adding +1 to a variable inside a function

points is not within the function's scope. You can grab a reference to the variable by using nonlocal:

points = 0
def test():
    nonlocal points
    points += 1

If points inside test() should refer to the outermost (module) scope, use global:

points = 0
def test():
    global points
    points += 1

The POM for project is missing, no dependency information available

The scope <scope>provided</scope> gives you an opportunity to tell that the jar would be available at runtime, so do not bundle it. It does not mean that you do not need it at compile time, hence maven would try to download that.

Now I think, the below maven artifact do not exist at all. I tries searching google, but not able to find. Hence you are getting this issue.

Change groupId to <groupId>net.sourceforge.ant4x</groupId> to get the latest jar.

<dependency>
  <groupId>net.sourceforge.ant4x</groupId>
  <artifactId>ant4x</artifactId>
  <version>${net.sourceforge.ant4x-version}</version>
  <scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>

Another solution for this problem is:

  1. Run your own maven repo.
  2. download the jar
  3. Install the jar into the repository.
  4. Add a code in your pom.xml something like:

Where http://localhost/repo is your local repo URL:

<repositories>
    <repository>
        <id>wmc-central</id>
        <url>http://localhost/repo</url>
    </repository>
    <-- Other repository config ... -->
</repositories>

How can I set a custom date time format in Oracle SQL Developer?

With Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09, i managed to set the custom format for the type DATE this way :

In : Tools > Preferences > Database > NLS

Or : Outils > Préférences > Base de donées > NLS

YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS

Settings Menu screenshot

Note that the following format does not worked for me :

DD-MON-RR HH24:MI:SS

As a result, it keeps the default format, without any error.

How do I make a relative reference to another workbook in Excel?

I had a similar problem that I solved by using the following sequence:

  1. use the CELL("filename") function to get the full path to the current sheet of the current file.

  2. use the SEARCH() function to find the start of the [FileName]SheetName string of your current excel file and the sheet.

  3. use the LEFT function to extract the full path name of the directory that contains your current file.

  4. Concatenate the directory path name found in step #3 with the name of the file, the name of the worksheet, and the cell reference that you want to access.

  5. use the INDIRECT() function to access the CellPathName that you created in step #4.

Note: these same steps can also be used to access cells in files whose names are created dynamically. In step #4, use a text string that is dynamically created from the contents of cells, the current date or time, etc. etc.

A cell reference example (with each piece assembled separately) that includes all of these steps is:

=INDIRECT("'" & LEFT(CELL("filename"),SEARCH("[MyFileName]MySheetName",CELL("filename")) - 1) & "[" & "OtherFileName" & "]" & "OtherSheetName" & "'!" & "$OtherColumn$OtherRow" & "'")

Note that LibreOffice uses a slightly different CellPatnName syntax, as in the following example:

=INDIRECT(LEFT(CELL("filename"),SEARCH("[MyFileName]MySheetName",CELL("filename")) - 1) & "OtherFileName" & "'#$" & "OtherSheetName" & "." & "$OtherColumn$OtherRow")

Bash script to calculate time elapsed

You can use Bash's time keyword here with an appropriate format string

TIMEFORMAT='It takes %R seconds to complete this task...'
time {
    #command block that takes time to complete...
    #........
 }

Here's what the reference says about TIMEFORMAT:

The value of this parameter is used as a format string specifying how the timing information for pipelines prefixed with the time reserved word should be displayed. The ‘%’ character introduces an escape sequence that is expanded to a time value or other information. The escape sequences and their meanings are as follows; the braces denote optional portions.

%%

    A literal ‘%’.
%[p][l]R

    The elapsed time in seconds.
%[p][l]U

    The number of CPU seconds spent in user mode.
%[p][l]S

    The number of CPU seconds spent in system mode.
%P

    The CPU percentage, computed as (%U + %S) / %R.

The optional p is a digit specifying the precision, the number of fractional digits after a decimal point. A value of 0 causes no decimal point or fraction to be output. At most three places after the decimal point may be specified; values of p greater than 3 are changed to 3. If p is not specified, the value 3 is used.

The optional l specifies a longer format, including minutes, of the form MMmSS.FFs. The value of p determines whether or not the fraction is included.

If this variable is not set, Bash acts as if it had the value

$'\nreal\t%3lR\nuser\t%3lU\nsys\t%3lS'

If the value is null, no timing information is displayed. A trailing newline is added when the format string is displayed.

How to execute a bash command stored as a string with quotes and asterisk

Use an array, not a string, as given as guidance in BashFAQ #50.

Using a string is extremely bad security practice: Consider the case where password (or a where clause in the query, or any other component) is user-provided; you don't want to eval a password containing $(rm -rf .)!

Matplotlib: ValueError: x and y must have same first dimension

You should make x and y numpy arrays, not lists:

x = np.array([0.46,0.59,0.68,0.99,0.39,0.31,1.09,
              0.77,0.72,0.49,0.55,0.62,0.58,0.88,0.78])
y = np.array([0.315,0.383,0.452,0.650,0.279,0.215,0.727,0.512,
              0.478,0.335,0.365,0.424,0.390,0.585,0.511])

With this change, it produces the expect plot. If they are lists, m * x will not produce the result you expect, but an empty list. Note that m is anumpy.float64 scalar, not a standard Python float.

I actually consider this a bit dubious behavior of Numpy. In normal Python, multiplying a list with an integer just repeats the list:

In [42]: 2 * [1, 2, 3]
Out[42]: [1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3]

while multiplying a list with a float gives an error (as I think it should):

In [43]: 1.5 * [1, 2, 3]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
TypeError Traceback (most recent call last)
<ipython-input-43-d710bb467cdd> in <module>()
----> 1 1.5 * [1, 2, 3]
TypeError: can't multiply sequence by non-int of type 'float'

The weird thing is that multiplying a Python list with a Numpy scalar apparently works:

In [45]: np.float64(0.5) * [1, 2, 3]
Out[45]: []

In [46]: np.float64(1.5) * [1, 2, 3]
Out[46]: [1, 2, 3]

In [47]: np.float64(2.5) * [1, 2, 3]
Out[47]: [1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3]

So it seems that the float gets truncated to an int, after which you get the standard Python behavior of repeating the list, which is quite unexpected behavior. The best thing would have been to raise an error (so that you would have spotted the problem yourself instead of having to ask your question on Stackoverflow) or to just show the expected element-wise multiplication (in which your code would have just worked). Interestingly, addition between a list and a Numpy scalar does work:

In [69]: np.float64(0.123) + [1, 2, 3]
Out[69]: array([ 1.123,  2.123,  3.123])

jQuery find file extension (from string)

Since the extension will always be the string after a period in a complete/partial file name, just use the built in split function in js, and test the resultant extension for what you want it to do. If split returns only one piece / no pieces, it does not contain an extension.

const char* concatenation

The C way:

char buf[100];
strcpy(buf, one);
strcat(buf, two);

The C++ way:

std::string buf(one);
buf.append(two);

The compile-time way:

#define one "hello "
#define two "world"
#define concat(first, second) first second

const char* buf = concat(one, two);

How to access a RowDataPacket object

Turns out they are normal objects and you can access them through user_id.

RowDataPacket is actually the name of the constructor function that creates an object, it would look like this new RowDataPacket(user_id, ...). You can check by accessing its name [0].constructor.name

If the result is an array, you would have to use [0].user_id.

How do I display the value of a Django form field in a template?

You can do this from the template with something like this:

{% if form.instance.some_field %}
      {{form.instance.some_field}}
{% else %}
      {{form.data.some_field}}
{% endif %}

This will display the instance value (if the form is created with an instance, you can use initial instead if you like), or else display the POST data such as when a validation error occurs.

Xml Parsing in C#

First add an Enrty and Category class:

public class Entry {     public string Id { get; set; }     public string Title { get; set; }     public string Updated { get; set; }     public string Summary { get; set; }     public string GPoint { get; set; }     public string GElev { get; set; }     public List<string> Categories { get; set; } }  public class Category {     public string Label { get; set; }     public string Term { get; set; } }

Then use LINQ to XML

XDocument xDoc = XDocument.Load("path");          List<Entry> entries = (from x in xDoc.Descendants("entry")             select new Entry()             {                 Id = (string) x.Element("id"),                 Title = (string)x.Element("title"),                 Updated = (string)x.Element("updated"),                 Summary = (string)x.Element("summary"),                 GPoint = (string)x.Element("georss:point"),                 GElev = (string)x.Element("georss:elev"),                 Categories = (from c in x.Elements("category")                                   select new Category                                   {                                       Label = (string)c.Attribute("label"),                                       Term = (string)c.Attribute("term")                                   }).ToList();             }).ToList();

How to send custom headers with requests in Swagger UI?

For those who use NSwag and need a custom header:

app.UseSwaggerUi3(typeof(Startup).GetTypeInfo().Assembly, settings =>
      {
          settings.GeneratorSettings.IsAspNetCore = true;
          settings.GeneratorSettings.OperationProcessors.Add(new OperationSecurityScopeProcessor("custom-auth"));

          settings.GeneratorSettings.DocumentProcessors.Add(
              new SecurityDefinitionAppender("custom-auth", new SwaggerSecurityScheme
                {
                    Type = SwaggerSecuritySchemeType.ApiKey,
                    Name = "header-name",
                    Description = "header description",
                    In = SwaggerSecurityApiKeyLocation.Header
                }));
        });
    }

Swagger UI will then include an Authorize button.

Perform .join on value in array of objects

If you want to map objects to something (in this case a property). I think Array.prototype.map is what you're looking for if you want to code functionally.

[
  {name: "Joe", age: 22},
  {name: "Kevin", age: 24},
  {name: "Peter", age: 21}
].map(function(elem){
    return elem.name;
}).join(",");

In modern JavaScript:

[
  {name: "Joe", age: 22},
  {name: "Kevin", age: 24},
  {name: "Peter", age: 21}
].map(e => e.name).join(",");

(fiddle)

If you want to support older browsers, that are not ES5 compliant you can shim it (there is a polyfill on the MDN page above). Another alternative would be to use underscorejs's pluck method:

var users = [
      {name: "Joe", age: 22},
      {name: "Kevin", age: 24},
      {name: "Peter", age: 21}
    ];
var result = _.pluck(users,'name').join(",")

Android: How to detect double-tap?

To detect the type of gesture tap one can implement something inline with this: ( here projectText is an EditText )

    projectText.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() {
        private GestureDetector gestureDetector = new GestureDetector(activity, new GestureDetector.SimpleOnGestureListener() {
            @Override
            public boolean onDoubleTap(MotionEvent e) {
                projectText.setInputType(InputType.TYPE_CLASS_TEXT);
                activity.getWindow().setSoftInputMode(WindowManager.LayoutParams.SOFT_INPUT_STATE_VISIBLE);
                return super.onDoubleTap(e);
            }
            @Override
            public boolean onSingleTapUp(MotionEvent e) {
                    projectText.setInputType(InputType.TYPE_NULL); // disable soft input
                    final int itemPosition = getLayoutPosition();
                    if(!projects.get(itemPosition).getProjectId().equals("-1"))
                        listener.selectedClick(projects.get(itemPosition));

                return super.onSingleTapUp(e);
            }

        });

        @Override
        public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
            gestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event);
            return false; //true stops propagation of the event
        }

    });

Up, Down, Left and Right arrow keys do not trigger KeyDown event

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to accomplish this with the arrow keys, due to restrictions in KeyDown events. However, there are a few ways to get around this:

  • As @Snarfblam stated, you can override the ProcessCmdKey method, which retains the ability to parse arrow key presses.
  • As the accepted answer from this question states, XNA has a built-in method called Keyboard.GetState(), which allows you to use arrow key inputs. However, WinForms doesn't have this, but it can be done through a P/Invoke, or by using a class that helps with it.

I recommend trying to use that class. It's quite simple to do so:

var left = KeyboardInfo.GetKeyState(Keys.Left);
var right = KeyboardInfo.GetKeyState(Keys.Right);
var up = KeyboardInfo.GetKeyState(Keys.Up);
var down = KeyboardInfo.GetKeyState(Keys.Down);

if (left.IsPressed)
{
//do something...
}

//etc...

If you use this in combination with the KeyDown event, I think you can reliably accomplish your goal.

Convert floating point number to a certain precision, and then copy to string

The str function has a bug. Please try the following. You will see '0,196553' but the right output is '0,196554'. Because the str function's default value is ROUND_HALF_UP.

>>> value=0.196553500000
>>> str("%f" % value).replace(".", ",")

How can I pass a username/password in the header to a SOAP WCF Service

There is probably a smarter way, but you can add the headers manually like this:

var client = new IdentityProofingService.IdentityProofingWSClient();

using (new OperationContextScope(client.InnerChannel))
{
    OperationContext.Current.OutgoingMessageHeaders.Add(
        new SecurityHeader("UsernameToken-49", "12345/userID", "password123"));
    client.invokeIdentityService(new IdentityProofingRequest());
}

Here, SecurityHeader is a custom implemented class, which needs a few other classes since I chose to use attributes to configure the XML serialization:

public class SecurityHeader : MessageHeader
{
    private readonly UsernameToken _usernameToken;

    public SecurityHeader(string id, string username, string password)
    {
        _usernameToken = new UsernameToken(id, username, password);
    }

    public override string Name
    {
        get { return "Security"; }
    }

    public override string Namespace
    {
        get { return "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd"; }
    }

    protected override void OnWriteHeaderContents(XmlDictionaryWriter writer, MessageVersion messageVersion)
    {
        XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(UsernameToken));
        serializer.Serialize(writer, _usernameToken);
    }
}

[XmlRoot(Namespace = "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd")]
public class UsernameToken
{
    public UsernameToken()
    {
    }

    public UsernameToken(string id, string username, string password)
    {
        Id = id;
        Username = username;
        Password = new Password() {Value = password};
    }

    [XmlAttribute(Namespace = "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd")]
    public string Id { get; set; }

    [XmlElement]
    public string Username { get; set; }

    [XmlElement]
    public Password Password { get; set; }
}

public class Password
{
    public Password()
    {
        Type = "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#PasswordText";
    }

    [XmlAttribute]
    public string Type { get; set; }

    [XmlText]
    public string Value { get; set; }
}

I have not added the Nonce bit to the UsernameToken XML, but it is very similar to the Password one. The Created element also needs to be added still, but it's a simple [XmlElement].

Converting a PDF to PNG

As this page also lists alternative tools I'll mention xpdf which has command line tools ready compiled for Linux/Windows/Mac. Supports transparency. Is free for commercial use - opposed to Ghostscript which has truly outrageous pricing.

In a test on a huge PDF file it was 7.5% faster than Ghostscript.

(It also has PDF to text and HTML converters)

Can you split/explode a field in a MySQL query?

You can do this with JSON in more recent MySQL versions. It's a blast. We will have a quick preparation to create a numbers table. Then first we create an intermediary table to convert the comma delimited strings into a json array then we will use json_extract to blast them apart. I am encapsulating the strings in quotes carefully escaping existing quotes because I had semicolon separated strings containing commas.

So to create the numbers table, hopefully you have more clients than courses, choose an adequately big table if not.

CREATE TABLE numbers (n int PRIMARY KEY);
INSERT INTO numbers
SELECT @row := @row + 1
FROM clients JOIN (select @row:=0) t2;

Add LIMIT 50 if you know you only have 50 courses. Now, that was easy, wasn't it? Now on to the real work, honestly it's the quotes that make it uglier but at least it's more generic that way:

CREATE TABLE json_coursenames
SELECT clientId,clientName,CONCAT('["', REPLACE(REPLACE(courseName,'"','\\"'), ',', '","'), '"]') AS a
FROM clients;

CREATE TABLE extracted
SELECT clientId,clientName,REPLACE(TRIM(TRIM('"' FROM JSON_EXTRACT(a, concat('$[', n, ']')))), '\\"', '"')
FROM json_coursenames
INNER JOIN numbers ON n < JSON_LENGTH(a);

Wheee!

The meat here are these two: the CONCAT('["', REPLACE(coursename, ',', '","'), '"]') (I dropped the second REPLACE to make it more visible) will convert foo,bar,bar into "foo","bar","baz". The other trick is JSON_EXTRACT(a, concat('$[', n, ']') will become JSON_EXTRACT(a, $[12]) and that's the 13th element in the array, see JSON Path syntax.

EOL conversion in notepad ++

In Notepad++, use replace all with regular expression. This has advantage over conversion command in menu that you can operate on entire folder w/o having to open each file or drag n drop (on several hundred files it will noticeably become slower) plus you can also set filename wildcard filter.

(\r?\n)|(\r\n?)

to

\n

This will match every possible line ending pattern (single \r, \n or \r\n) back to \n. (Or \r\n if you are converting to windows-style)

To operate on multiple files, either:

  • Use "Replace All in all opened document" in "Replace" tab. You will have to drag and drop all files into Notepad++ first. It's good that you will have control over which file to operate on but can be slow if there several hundreds or thousands files.
  • "Replace in files" in "Find in files" tab, by file filter of you choice, e.g., *.cpp *.cs under one specified directory.

Check if an object belongs to a class in Java

If you ever need to do this dynamically, you can use the following:

boolean isInstance(Object object, Class<?> type) {
    return type.isInstance(object);
}

You can get an instance of java.lang.Class by calling the instance method Object::getClass on any object (returns the Class which that object is an instance of), or you can do class literals (for example, String.class, List.class, int[].class). There are other ways as well, through the reflection API (which Class itself is the entry point for).

Delete all lines starting with # or ; in Notepad++

Maybe you should try

^[#;].*$

^ matches the beggining, $ the end.

Accessing an array out of bounds gives no error, why?

A nice approach that i have seen often and I had been used actually is to inject some NULL type element (or a created one, like uint THIS_IS_INFINITY = 82862863263;) at end of the array.

Then at the loop condition check, TYPE *pagesWords is some kind of pointer array:

int pagesWordsLength = sizeof(pagesWords) / sizeof(pagesWords[0]);

realloc (pagesWords, sizeof(pagesWords[0]) * (pagesWordsLength + 1);

pagesWords[pagesWordsLength] = MY_NULL;

for (uint i = 0; i < 1000; i++)
{
  if (pagesWords[i] == MY_NULL)
  {
    break;
  }
}

This solution won't word if array is filled with struct types.

How do I check if a Socket is currently connected in Java?

  • socket.isConnected() returns always true once the client connects (and even after the disconnect) weird !!
  • socket.getInputStream().read()
    • makes the thread wait for input as long as the client is connected and therefore makes your program not do anything - except if you get some input
    • returns -1 if the client disconnected
  • socket.getInetAddress().isReachable(int timeout): From isReachable(int timeout)

    Test whether that address is reachable. Best effort is made by the implementation to try to reach the host, but firewalls and server configuration may block requests resulting in a unreachable status while some specific ports may be accessible. A typical implementation will use ICMP ECHO REQUESTs if the privilege can be obtained, otherwise it will try to establish a TCP connection on port 7 (Echo) of the destination host.

CSS pseudo elements in React

Inline styles cannot be used to target pseudo-classes or pseudo-elements. You need to use a stylesheet.

If you want to generate CSS dynamically, then the easiest way is to create a DOM element <style>.

<style dangerouslySetInnerHTML={{
  __html: [
     '.my-special-div:after {',
     '  content: "Hello";',
     '  position: absolute',
     '}'
    ].join('\n')
  }}>
</style>
<div className='my-special-div'></div>

ImportError: No module named 'encodings'

I could also fix this. PYTHONPATH and PYTHONHOME were in cause.

run this in a terminal

   touch ~/.bash_profile
   open ~/.bash_profile

and then delete all useless parts of this file, and save. I do not know how recommended it is to do that !

why does DateTime.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy") give me dd-MM-yyyy?

Pass CultureInfo.InvariantCulture as the second parameter of DateTime, it will return the string as what you want, even a very special format:

DateTime.Now.ToString("dd|MM|yyyy", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)

will return: 28|02|2014

How to print the array?

It looks like you have a typo on your array, it should read:

int my_array[3][3] = {...

You don't have the _ or the {.

Also my_array[3][3] is an invalid location. Since computers begin counting at 0, you are accessing position 4. (Arrays are weird like that).

If you want just the last element:

printf("%d\n", my_array[2][2]);

If you want the entire array:

for(int i = 0; i < my_array.length; i++) {
  for(int j = 0; j < my_array[i].length; j++)
    printf("%d ", my_array[i][j]);
  printf("\n");
}

What's the best way to parse command line arguments?

I think the best way for larger projects is optparse, but if you are looking for an easy way, maybe http://werkzeug.pocoo.org/documentation/script is something for you.

from werkzeug import script

# actions go here
def action_foo(name=""):
    """action foo does foo"""
    pass

def action_bar(id=0, title="default title"):
    """action bar does bar"""
    pass

if __name__ == '__main__':
    script.run()

So basically every function action_* is exposed to the command line and a nice help message is generated for free.

python foo.py
usage: foo.py <action> [<options>]
       foo.py --help

actions:
  bar:
    action bar does bar

    --id                          integer   0
    --title                       string    default title

  foo:
    action foo does foo

    --name                        string

Threads vs Processes in Linux

Threads -- > Threads shares a memory space,it is an abstraction of the CPU,it is lightweight. Processes --> Processes have their own memory space,it is an abstraction of a computer. To parallelise task you need to abstract a CPU. However the advantages of using a process over a thread is security,stability while a thread uses lesser memory than process and offers lesser latency. An example in terms of web would be chrome and firefox. In case of Chrome each tab is a new process hence memory usage of chrome is higher than firefox ,while the security and stability provided is better than firefox. The security here provided by chrome is better,since each tab is a new process different tab cannot snoop into the memory space of a given process.

How to remove items from a list while iterating?

If you want to do anything else during the iteration, it may be nice to get both the index (which guarantees you being able to reference it, for example if you have a list of dicts) and the actual list item contents.

inlist = [{'field1':10, 'field2':20}, {'field1':30, 'field2':15}]
for idx, i in enumerate(inlist):
    do some stuff with i['field1']
    if somecondition:
        xlist.append(idx)
for i in reversed(xlist): del inlist[i]

enumerate gives you access to the item and the index at once. reversed is so that the indices that you're going to later delete don't change on you.

SQL Server : converting varchar to INT

I would try triming the number to see what you get:

select len(rtrim(ltrim(userid))) from audit

if that return the correct value then just do:

select convert(int, rtrim(ltrim(userid))) from audit

if that doesn't return the correct value then I would do a replace to remove the empty space:

 select convert(int, replace(userid, char(0), '')) from audit

Laravel Unknown Column 'updated_at'

Setting timestamps to false means you are going to lose both created_at and updated_at whereas you could set both of the keys in your model.

Case 1:

You have created_at column but not update_at you could simply set updated_at to false in your model

class ABC extends Model {

const UPDATED_AT = null;

Case 2:

You have both created_at and updated_at columns but with different column names

You could simply do:

class ABC extends Model {

const CREATED_AT = 'name_of_created_at_column';
const UPDATED_AT = 'name_of_updated_at_column';

Finally ignoring timestamps completely:

class ABC extends Model {

public $timestamps = false;

How do I turn a C# object into a JSON string in .NET?

In your Lad model class, add an override to the ToString() method that returns a JSON string version of your Lad object.
Note: you will need to import System.Text.Json;

using System.Text.Json;

class MyDate
{
    int year, month, day;
}

class Lad
{
    public string firstName { get; set; };
    public string lastName { get; set; };
    public MyDate dateOfBirth { get; set; };
    public override string ToString() => JsonSerializer.Serialize<Lad>(this);
}

Add Expires headers

In ASP.NET there is similar object, you can use Caching Portions in WebFormsUserControls in order to cache objects of a page for a period of time and save server resources. This is also known as fragment caching.
If you include this code to top of your user control, a version of the control stored in the output cache for 150 seconds. You can create your own control that would contain expire header for a specific resource you want.

<%@ OutputCache Duration="150" VaryByParam="None" %>

Close/kill the session when the browser or tab is closed

Please refer the below steps:

  1. First create a page SessionClear.aspx and write the code to clear session
  2. Then add following JavaScript code in your page or Master Page:

    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
        var isClose = false;

        //this code will handle the F5 or Ctrl+F5 key
        //need to handle more cases like ctrl+R whose codes are not listed here
        document.onkeydown = checkKeycode
        function checkKeycode(e) {
        var keycode;
        if (window.event)
        keycode = window.event.keyCode;
        else if (e)
        keycode = e.which;
        if(keycode == 116)
        {
        isClose = true;
        }
        }
        function somefunction()
        {

Python print statement “Syntax Error: invalid syntax”

Use print("use this bracket -sample text")

In Python 3 print "Hello world" gives invalid syntax error.

To display string content in Python3 have to use this ("Hello world") brackets.

What's the difference between SCSS and Sass?

Sass was the first one, and the syntax is a bit different. For example, including a mixin:

Sass: +mixinname()
Scss: @include mixinname()

Sass ignores curly brackets and semicolons and lay on nesting, which I found more useful.

The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity reference

You need to add a CDATA tag inside of the script tag, unless you want to manually go through and escape all XHTML characters (e.g. & would need to become &amp;). For example:

<script>
//<![CDATA[
var el = document.getElementById("pacman");

if (Modernizr.canvas && Modernizr.localstorage &&
    Modernizr.audio && (Modernizr.audio.ogg || Modernizr.audio.mp3)) {
  window.setTimeout(function () { PACMAN.init(el, "./"); }, 0);
} else {
  el.innerHTML = "Sorry, needs a decent browser<br /><small>" +
    "(firefox 3.6+, Chrome 4+, Opera 10+ and Safari 4+)</small>";
}
//]]>
</script>

Using textures in THREE.js

Without Error Handeling

//Load background texture
 new THREE.TextureLoader();
loader.load('https://images.pexels.com/photos/1205301/pexels-photo-1205301.jpeg' , function(texture)
            {

};

// Function called when download errors
var onError = function (error) {

};

//Function  called when load completes.
var onLoad = function (texture) {
  var objGeometry = new THREE.BoxGeometry(30, 30, 30);
  var objMaterial = new THREE.MeshPhongMaterial({
    map: texture,
    shading: THREE.FlatShading
  });

  var boxMesh = new THREE.Mesh(objGeometry, objMaterial);
  scene.add(boxMesh);

  var render = function () {
    requestAnimationFrame(render);
    boxMesh.rotation.x += 0.010;
    boxMesh.rotation.y += 0.010;
      sphereMesh.rotation.y += 0.1;
    renderer.render(scene, camera);

  render();
}

//LOAD TEXTURE and on completion apply it on box

Best way to show a loading/progress indicator?

Actually if you are waiting for response from a server it should be done programatically. You may create a progress dialog and dismiss it, but then again that is not "the android way".

Currently the recommended method is to use a DialogFragment :

public class MySpinnerDialog extends DialogFragment {

    public MySpinnerDialog() {
        // use empty constructors. If something is needed use onCreate's
    }

    @Override
    public Dialog onCreateDialog(final Bundle savedInstanceState) {

        _dialog = new ProgressDialog(getActivity());
        this.setStyle(STYLE_NO_TITLE, getTheme()); // You can use styles or inflate a view
        _dialog.setMessage("Spinning.."); // set your messages if not inflated from XML

        _dialog.setCancelable(false);

        return _dialog;
    }
}

Then in your activity you set your Fragment manager and show the dialog once the wait for the server started:

FragmentManager fm = getSupportFragmentManager();
MySpinnerDialog myInstance = new MySpinnerDialog();
}
myInstance.show(fm, "some_tag");

Once your server has responded complete you will dismiss it:

myInstance.dismiss()

Remember that the progressdialog is a spinner or a progressbar depending on the attributes, read more on the api guide

EDIT

I changed you worksheet to play with (see above for the new Sub). This probably does not suite your needs directly, but hopefully it will demonstrate the conept behind what I think you want to do. Please keep in mind that this code does not follow all the coding best preactices I would recommend (e.g. validating the time is actually a TIME and not some random other data type).

     A                      B                   C                   D                  E
1    LOAD_NUMBER            1                   2                   3                  4
2    DEPARTURE_TIME_DATE    11/12/2011 19:30    11/12/2011 19:30    11/12/2011 19:30    11/12/2011 20:00
4    Dry_Refrig 7585.1  0   10099.8 16700
6    1/4/2012 19:30

Using the sub I got this output:

How to multiply duration by integer?

int32 and time.Duration are different types. You need to convert the int32 to a time.Duration, such as time.Sleep(time.Duration(rand.Int31n(1000)) * time.Millisecond).

How to convert characters to HTML entities using plain JavaScript

You can use:

function encodeHTML(str){
 var aStr = str.split(''),
     i = aStr.length,
     aRet = [];

   while (i--) {
    var iC = aStr[i].charCodeAt();
    if (iC < 65 || iC > 127 || (iC>90 && iC<97)) {
      aRet.push('&#'+iC+';');
    } else {
      aRet.push(aStr[i]);
    }
  }
 return aRet.reverse().join('');
}

This function HTMLEncodes everything that is not a-z/A-Z.

[Edit] A rather old answer. Let's add a simpler String extension to encode all extended characters:

String.prototype.encodeHTML = function () {
  return this.replace(/[\u0080-\u024F]/g,
          function (v) {return '&#'+v.charCodeAt()+';';}
         );
}
// usage
log('Übergroße Äpfel mit Würmern'.encodeHTML());
//=> '&#220;bergro&#223;e &#196;pfel mit W&#252;rmern'

How to decode jwt token in javascript without using a library?

You can use jwt-decode, so then you could write:

var token = 'eyJ0eXAiO.../// jwt token';

var decoded = jwt_decode(token);
console.log(decoded);
/*{exp: 10012016 name: john doe, scope:['admin']}*/

Can we set a Git default to fetch all tags during a remote pull?

You should be able to accomplish this by adding a refspec for tags to your local config. Concretely:

[remote "upstream"]
    url = <redacted>
    fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/upstream/*
    fetch = +refs/tags/*:refs/tags/*

Difference between iCalendar (.ics) and the vCalendar (.vcs)

The newer iCalendar format, with more data attached, includes information about the person who created the event, so that when it is imported into Outlook (for example), changes to that event are communicated via email to the creator. This can be helpful when you need to inform others of any changes.

However, when I am just exporting an event from one of my calendars to another, I prefer to use vCalendar, since this does not require sending an email message to the creator (usually myself) if I make a change or delete something.

How to delete files recursively from an S3 bucket

Best way is to use lifecycle rule to delete whole bucket contents. Programmatically you can use following code (PHP) to PUT lifecycle rule.

$expiration = array('Date' => date('U', strtotime('GMT midnight')));
$result = $s3->putBucketLifecycle(array(
            'Bucket' => 'bucket-name',
            'Rules' => array(
                array(
                    'Expiration' => $expiration,
                    'ID' => 'rule-name',
                    'Prefix' => '',
                    'Status' => 'Enabled',
                ),
            ),
        ));

In above case all the objects will be deleted starting Date - "Today GMT midnight".

You can also specify Days as follows. But with Days it will wait for at least 24 hrs (1 day is minimum) to start deleting the bucket contents.

$expiration = array('Days' => 1);

We use here standard shorthand for "OR" operator e.g 9 | 2 = 11 in binary: 0b1001 | 0b1010 = 0b1011 . This operator first cast numbers to integers in implicit way and then do OR. But because OR with zero don't change anything so number is cast to integer. OR with non-number string gives 0.

How do you set the width of an HTML Helper TextBox in ASP.NET MVC?

<style type="text/css">

below is one of my answers on another post - error: unable to load installed packages just now
(this is also relevant to this question)

For Linux(Ubuntu) users: If you have oracle-java (7/8) installed. It'll be at this location /usr/lib/jvm and sudo access is required.

Create the file /etc/ld.so.conf.d/java.conf with the following entries:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64
/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/server

(Replace java-8-oracle with java-7-oracle depending on your java version)

Then:

sudo ldconfig

Restart RStudio and then install the rJava package.

Volatile vs Static in Java

Difference Between Static and Volatile :

Static Variable: If two Threads(suppose t1 and t2) are accessing the same object and updating a variable which is declared as static then it means t1 and t2 can make their own local copy of the same object(including static variables) in their respective cache, so update made by t1 to the static variable in its local cache wont reflect in the static variable for t2 cache .

Static variables are used in the context of Object where update made by one object would reflect in all the other objects of the same class but not in the context of Thread where update of one thread to the static variable will reflect the changes immediately to all the threads (in their local cache).

Volatile variable: If two Threads(suppose t1 and t2) are accessing the same object and updating a variable which is declared as volatile then it means t1 and t2 can make their own local cache of the Object except the variable which is declared as a volatile . So the volatile variable will have only one main copy which will be updated by different threads and update made by one thread to the volatile variable will immediately reflect to the other Thread.

        manager.requestSerializer.setValue("Authorization", forHTTPHeaderField: user.headerForAuthentication())
    }
}

How to load CSS Asynchronously

you can try to get it in a lot of ways :

1.Using media="bogus" and a <link> at the foot

<head>
    <!-- unimportant nonsense -->
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" media="bogus">
</head>
<body>
    <!-- other unimportant nonsense, such as content -->
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
</body>

2.Inserting DOM in the old way

<script type="text/javascript">
(function(){
  var bsa = document.createElement('script');
     bsa.type = 'text/javascript';
     bsa.async = true;
     bsa.src = 'https://s3.buysellads.com/ac/bsa.js';
  (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0]||document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(bsa);
})();
</script>

3.if you can try plugins you could try loadCSS

<script>
  // include loadCSS here...
  function loadCSS( href, before, media ){ ... }
  // load a file
  loadCSS( "path/to/mystylesheet.css" );
</script>

Get content of a cell given the row and column numbers

You don't need the CELL() part of your formulas:

=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(B1,B2))

or

=OFFSET($A$1, B1-1,B2-1)

will both work. Note that both INDIRECT and OFFSET are volatile functions. Volatile functions can slow down calculation because they are calculated at every single recalculation.

Sorting an ArrayList of objects using a custom sorting order

You need make your Contact classes implement Comparable, and then implement the compareTo(Contact) method. That way, the Collections.sort will be able to sort them for you. Per the page I linked to, compareTo 'returns a negative integer, zero, or a positive integer as this object is less than, equal to, or greater than the specified object.'

For example, if you wanted to sort by name (A to Z), your class would look like this:

public class Contact implements Comparable<Contact> {

    private String name;

    // all the other attributes and methods

    public compareTo(Contact other) {
        return this.name.compareTo(other.name);
    }
}

How to change a text with jQuery

Using multiple property files (via PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer) in multiple projects/modules

I tried the solution below, it works on my machine.

<context:property-placeholder location="classpath*:connection.properties" ignore-unresolvable="true" order="1" />

<context:property-placeholder location="classpath*:general.properties" order="2"/>

In case multiple elements are present in the Spring context, there are a few best practices that should be followed:

the order attribute needs to be specified to fix the order in which these are processed by Spring all property placeholders minus the last one (highest order) should have ignore-unresolvable=”true” to allow the resolution mechanism to pass to others in the context without throwing an exception

When do I need to do "git pull", before or after "git add, git commit"?

I'd suggest pulling from the remote branch as often as possible in order to minimise large merges and possible conflicts.

Having said that, I would go with the first option:

git add foo.js
git commit foo.js -m "commit"
git pull
git push

Commit your changes before pulling so that your commits are merged with the remote changes during the pull. This may result in conflicts which you can begin to deal with knowing that your code is already committed should anything go wrong and you have to abort the merge for whatever reason.

I'm sure someone will disagree with me though, I don't think there's any correct way to do this merge flow, only what works best for people.

What does "collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status" mean?

The ld returned 1 exit status error is the consequence of previous errors. In your example there is an earlier error - undefined reference to 'clrscr' - and this is the real one. The exit status error just signals that the linking step in the build process encountered some errors. Normally exit status 0 means success, and exit status > 0 means errors.

When you build your program, multiple tools may be run as separate steps to create the final executable. In your case one of those tools is ld, which first reports the error it found (clrscr reference missing), and then it returns the exit status. Since the exit status is > 0, it means an error and is reported.

In many cases tools return as the exit status the number of errors they encountered. So if ld tool finds two errors, its exit status would be 2.

Binding Listbox to List<object> in WinForms

You're looking for the DataSource property:

List<SomeType> someList = ...;
myListBox.DataSource = someList;

You should also set the DisplayMember property to the name of a property in the object that you want the listbox to display. If you don't, it will call ToString().

Python Inverse of a Matrix

Make sure you really need to invert the matrix. This is often unnecessary and can be numerically unstable. When most people ask how to invert a matrix, they really want to know how to solve Ax = b where A is a matrix and x and b are vectors. It's more efficient and more accurate to use code that solves the equation Ax = b for x directly than to calculate A inverse then multiply the inverse by B. Even if you need to solve Ax = b for many b values, it's not a good idea to invert A. If you have to solve the system for multiple b values, save the Cholesky factorization of A, but don't invert it.

See Don't invert that matrix.

Undo git stash pop that results in merge conflict

Getting the text that follows after the regex match

Your regex "sentence(.*)" is right. To retrieve the contents of the group in parenthesis, you would call:

Pattern p = Pattern.compile( "sentence(.*)" );
Matcher m = p.matcher( "some lame sentence that is awesome" );
if ( m.find() ) {
   String s = m.group(1); // " that is awesome"
}

Note the use of m.find() in this case (attempts to find anywhere on the string) and not m.matches() (would fail because of the prefix "some lame"; in this case the regex would need to be ".*sentence(.*)")

Import txt file and having each line as a list

If you want the numbers as ints:

with open('path/to/file') as infile:
    answer = [[int(i) for i in line.strip().split(',')] for line in infile]

var regex = new RegExp("^[0-9]+$");
var key = String.fromCharCode(!event.charCode ? event.which : event.charCode);
if (!regex.test(key)) {
   event.preventDefault();
   return false;
}

});

https://jsfiddle.net/astrapi69/qbk2vjty/1/

And you can change the regular expression to anything else if you want to restrict other characters then numbers.

Insert line break in wrapped cell via code

Yes there are two way to add a line feed:

  1. Use the existing function from VBA vbCrLf in the string you want to add a line feed, as such:

    Dim text As String

    text = "Hello" & vbCrLf & "World!"

    Worksheets(1).Cells(1, 1) = text

  2. Use the Chr() function and pass the ASCII characters 13 and 10 in order to add a line feed, as shown bellow:

    Dim text As String

    text = "Hello" & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & "World!"

    Worksheets(1).Cells(1, 1) = text

In both cases, you will have the same output in cell (1,1) or A1.

Passive Link in Angular 2 - <a href=""> equivalent

You have prevent the default browser behaviour. But you don’t need to create a directive to accomplish that.

It’s easy as the following example:

my.component.html

<a href="" (click)="goToPage(pageIndex, $event)">Link</a>

my.component.ts

goToPage(pageIndex, event) {
  event.preventDefault();
  console.log(pageIndex);
}

How to overwrite existing files in batch?

How to update record using Entity Framework Core?

According to Microsoft docs:

the read-first approach requires an extra database read, and can result in more complex code for handling concurrency conflict

However, you should know that using Update method on DbContext will mark all the fields as modified and will include all of them in the query. If you want to update a subset of fields you should use the Attach method and then mark the desired field as modified manually.

context.Attach(person);
context.Entry(person).Property(p => p.Name).IsModified = true;
context.SaveChanges();

Multi-dimensional arrays in Bash

Lots of answers found here for creating multidimensional arrays in bash.

And without exception, all are obtuse and difficult to use.

If MD arrays are a required criteria, it is time to make a decision:

Use a language that supports MD arrays

My preference is Perl. Most would probably choose Python. Either works.

Store the data elsewhere

JSON and jq have already been suggested. XML has also been suggested, though for your use JSON and jq would likely be simpler.

It would seem though that Bash may not be the best choice for what you need to do.

Sometimes the correct question is not "How do I do X in tool Y?", but rather "Which tool would be best to do X?"

Using jquery to get all checked checkboxes with a certain class name

Simple way to get all of values into an array

var valores = (function () {
    var valor = [];
    $('input.className[type=checkbox]').each(function () {
        if (this.checked)
            valor.push($(this).val());
    });
    return valor;

})();

console.log(valores);

Fork() function in C

First a link to some documentation of fork()

http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/fork.html

The pid is provided by the kernel. Every time the kernel create a new process it will increase the internal pid counter and assign the new process this new unique pid and also make sure there are no duplicates. Once the pid reaches some high number it will wrap and start over again.

So you never know what pid you will get from fork(), only that the parent will keep it's unique pid and that fork will make sure that the child process will have a new unique pid. This is stated in the documentation provided above.

If you continue reading the documentation you will see that fork() return 0 for the child process and the new unique pid of the child will be returned to the parent. If the child want to know it's own new pid you will have to query for it using getpid().

pid_t pid = fork()
if(pid == 0) {
    printf("this is a child: my new unique pid is %d\n", getpid());
} else {
    printf("this is the parent: my pid is %d and I have a child with pid %d \n", getpid(), pid);
}

and below is some inline comments on your code

#include <stdio.h>
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <unistd.h>

int main() {
    pid_t pid1, pid2, pid3;
    pid1=0, pid2=0, pid3=0;
    pid1= fork(); /* A */
    if(pid1 == 0){
        /* This is child A */
        pid2=fork(); /* B */
        pid3=fork(); /* C */
    } else {
        /* This is parent A */
        /* Child B and C will never reach this code */
        pid3=fork(); /* D */
        if(pid3==0) {
            /* This is child D fork'ed from parent A */
            pid2=fork(); /* E */
        }
        if((pid1 == 0)&&(pid2 == 0)) {
            /* pid1 will never be 0 here so this is dead code */
            printf("Level 1\n");
        }
        if(pid1 !=0) {
            /* This is always true for both parent and child E */
            printf("Level 2\n");
        }
        if(pid2 !=0) {
           /* This is parent E (same as parent A) */
           printf("Level 3\n");
        }
        if(pid3 !=0) {
           /* This is parent D (same as parent A) */
           printf("Level 4\n");
        }
    }
    return 0;
}

What do the python file extensions, .pyc .pyd .pyo stand for?

  1. .py: This is normally the input source code that you've written.
  2. .pyc: This is the compiled bytecode. If you import a module, python will build a *.pyc file that contains the bytecode to make importing it again later easier (and faster).
  3. .pyo: This was a file format used before Python 3.5 for *.pyc files that were created with optimizations (-O) flag. (see the note below)
  4. .pyd: This is basically a windows dll file. http://docs.python.org/faq/windows.html#is-a-pyd-file-the-same-as-a-dll

Also for some further discussion on .pyc vs .pyo, take a look at: http://www.network-theory.co.uk/docs/pytut/CompiledPythonfiles.html (I've copied the important part below)

  • When the Python interpreter is invoked with the -O flag, optimized code is generated and stored in ‘.pyo’ files. The optimizer currently doesn't help much; it only removes assert statements. When -O is used, all bytecode is optimized; .pyc files are ignored and .py files are compiled to optimized bytecode.
  • Passing two -O flags to the Python interpreter (-OO) will cause the bytecode compiler to perform optimizations that could in some rare cases result in malfunctioning programs. Currently only __doc__ strings are removed from the bytecode, resulting in more compact ‘.pyo’ files. Since some programs may rely on having these available, you should only use this option if you know what you're doing.
  • A program doesn't run any faster when it is read from a ‘.pyc’ or ‘.pyo’ file than when it is read from a ‘.py’ file; the only thing that's faster about ‘.pyc’ or ‘.pyo’ files is the speed with which they are loaded.
  • When a script is run by giving its name on the command line, the bytecode for the script is never written to a ‘.pyc’ or ‘.pyo’ file. Thus, the startup time of a script may be reduced by moving most of its code to a module and having a small bootstrap script that imports that module. It is also possible to name a ‘.pyc’ or ‘.pyo’ file directly on the command line.

Note:

On 2015-09-15 the Python 3.5 release implemented PEP-488 and eliminated .pyo files. This means that .pyc files represent both unoptimized and optimized bytecode.

Console logging for react?

If you want to log inside JSX you can create a dummy component
which plugs where you wish to log:

Uploading file using POST request in Node.js

An undocumented feature of the formData field that request implements is the ability to pass options to the form-data module it uses:

request({
  url: 'http://example.com',
  method: 'POST',
  formData: {
    'regularField': 'someValue',
    'regularFile': someFileStream,
    'customBufferFile': {
      value: fileBufferData,
      options: {
        filename: 'myfile.bin'
      }
    }
  }
}, handleResponse);

This is useful if you need to avoid calling requestObj.form() but need to upload a buffer as a file. The form-data module also accepts contentType (the MIME type) and knownLength options.

This change was added in October 2014 (so 2 months after this question was asked), so it should be safe to use now (in 2017+). This equates to version v2.46.0 or above of request.

Display milliseconds in Excel

First represent the epoch of the millisecond time as a date (usually 1/1/1970), then add your millisecond time divided by the number of milliseconds in a day (86400000):

=DATE(1970,1,1)+(A1/86400000)

If your cell is properly formatted, you should see a human-readable date/time.

how to get current location in google map android

If you don't need to retrieve the user's location every time it changes (I have no idea why nearly every solution does that by using a location listener), it's just wasteful to do so. The asker was clearly interested in retrieving the location just once. Now FusedLocationApi is deprecated, so as a replacement for @Andrey's post, you can do:

    LocationManager locationManager = (LocationManager) this.getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE);
    String locationProvider = LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER;
    // I suppressed the missing-permission warning because this wouldn't be executed in my
    // case without location services being enabled
    @SuppressLint("MissingPermission") android.location.Location lastKnownLocation = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(locationProvider);
    double userLat = lastKnownLocation.getLatitude();
    double userLong = lastKnownLocation.getLongitude();

This just puts together some scattered information in the docs, this being the most important source.

Downloading images with node.js

You can use Axios (a promise-based HTTP client for Node.js) to download images in the order of your choosing in an asynchronous environment:

npm i axios

Then, you can use the following basic example to begin downloading images:

const fs = require('fs');
const axios = require('axios');

/* ============================================================
  Function: Download Image
============================================================ */

const download_image = (url, image_path) =>
  axios({
    url,
    responseType: 'stream',
  }).then(
    response =>
      new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
        response.data
          .pipe(fs.createWriteStream(image_path))
          .on('finish', () => resolve())
          .on('error', e => reject(e));
      }),
  );

/* ============================================================
  Download Images in Order
============================================================ */

(async () => {
  let example_image_1 = await download_image('https://example.com/test-1.png', 'example-1.png');

  console.log(example_image_1.status); // true
  console.log(example_image_1.error); // ''

  let example_image_2 = await download_image('https://example.com/does-not-exist.png', 'example-2.png');

  console.log(example_image_2.status); // false
  console.log(example_image_2.error); // 'Error: Request failed with status code 404'

  let example_image_3 = await download_image('https://example.com/test-3.png', 'example-3.png');

  console.log(example_image_3.status); // true
  console.log(example_image_3.error); // ''
})();

What is the difference between new/delete and malloc/free?

new calls the ctor of the object, delete call the dtor.

malloc & free just allocate and release raw memory.

Java: How to get input from System.console()

Found some good answer here regarding reading from console, here another way use 'Scanner' to read from console:

import java.util.Scanner;

data= scanInput.nextLine();

scanInput.close();
System.out.println(data);

Appending a list or series to a pandas DataFrame as a row?

Here's a function that, given an already created dataframe, will append a list as a new row. This should probably have error catchers thrown in, but if you know exactly what you're adding then it shouldn't be an issue.

import pandas as pd
import numpy as np

def addRow(df,ls):
    """
    Given a dataframe and a list, append the list as a new row to the dataframe.

    :param df: <DataFrame> The original dataframe
    :param ls: <list> The new row to be added
    :return: <DataFrame> The dataframe with the newly appended row
    """

    numEl = len(ls)

    newRow = pd.DataFrame(np.array(ls).reshape(1,numEl), columns = list(df.columns))

    df = df.append(newRow, ignore_index=True)

    return df

MySQL JOIN ON vs USING?

Thought I would chip in here with when I have found ON to be more useful than USING. It is when OUTER joins are introduced into queries.

ON benefits from allowing the results set of the table that a query is OUTER joining onto to be restricted while maintaining the OUTER join. Attempting to restrict the results set through specifying a WHERE clause will, effectively, change the OUTER join into an INNER join.

Granted this may be a relative corner case. Worth putting out there though.....

For example:

CREATE TABLE country (
   countryId int(10) unsigned NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT,
   country varchar(50) not null,
  UNIQUE KEY countryUIdx1 (country)
) ENGINE=InnoDB;

insert into country(country) values ("France");
insert into country(country) values ("China");
insert into country(country) values ("USA");
insert into country(country) values ("Italy");
insert into country(country) values ("UK");
insert into country(country) values ("Monaco");

CREATE TABLE city (
  cityId int(10) unsigned NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT,
  countryId int(10) unsigned not null,
  city varchar(50) not null,
  hasAirport boolean not null default true,
  UNIQUE KEY cityUIdx1 (countryId,city),
  CONSTRAINT city_country_fk1 FOREIGN KEY (countryId) REFERENCES country (countryId)
) ENGINE=InnoDB;

insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (1,"Paris",true);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (2,"Bejing",true);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (3,"New York",true);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (4,"Napoli",true);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (5,"Manchester",true);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (5,"Birmingham",false);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (3,"Cincinatti",false);
insert into city (countryId,city,hasAirport) values (6,"Monaco",false);

-- Gah. Left outer join is now effectively an inner join
-- because of the where predicate
select *
from country left join city using (countryId)
where hasAirport
;

-- Hooray! I can see Monaco again thanks to
-- moving my predicate into the ON
select *
from country co left join city ci on (co.countryId=ci.countryId and ci.hasAirport)
;

How to make URL/Phone-clickable UILabel?

Use UITextView instead of UILabel and it has a property to convert your text to hyperlink

Swift code:

yourTextView.editable = false
yourTextView.dataDetectorTypes = UIDataDetectorTypes.All
//or
yourTextView.dataDetectorTypes = UIDataDetectorTypes.PhoneNumber
//or
yourTextView.dataDetectorTypes = UIDataDetectorTypes.Link

Convert UTF-8 to base64 string

It's a little difficult to tell what you're trying to achieve, but assuming you're trying to get a Base64 string that when decoded is abcdef==, the following should work:

byte[] bytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("abcdef==");
string base64 = Convert.ToBase64String(bytes);
Console.WriteLine(base64);

This will output: YWJjZGVmPT0= which is abcdef== encoded in Base64.

Edit:

To decode a Base64 string, simply use Convert.FromBase64String(). E.g.

string base64 = "YWJjZGVmPT0=";
byte[] bytes = Convert.FromBase64String(base64);

At this point, bytes will be a byte[] (not a string). If we know that the byte array represents a string in UTF8, then it can be converted back to the string form using:

string str = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(bytes);
Console.WriteLine(str);

This will output the original input string, abcdef== in this case.

How can I view a git log of just one user's commits?

try this tool https://github.com/kamranahmedse/git-standup

Usage

```bash
$ git standup [-a <author name>]
              [-w <weekstart-weekend>]
              [-m <max-dir-depth>]
              [-f]
              [-L]
              [-d <days-ago>]
              [-D <date-format>]
              [-g]
              [-h]
```

Below is the description for each of the flags

- `-a` - Specify author to restrict search to (name or email)
- `-w`      - Specify weekday range to limit search to (e.g. `git standup -w SUN-THU`)
- `-m` - Specify the depth of recursive directory search
- `-L` - Toggle inclusion of symbolic links in recursive directory search
- `-d` - Specify the number of days back to include
- `-D` - Specify the date format for "git log" (default: relative)
- `-h`      - Display the help screen
- `-g` - Show if commit is GPG signed or not
- `-f` - Fetch the latest commits beforehand

How can I test a Windows DLL file to determine if it is 32 bit or 64 bit?

A crude way would be to call dumpbin with the headers option from the Visual Studio tools on each DLL and look for the appropriate output:

dumpbin /headers my32bit.dll

PE signature found

File Type: DLL

FILE HEADER VALUES
             14C machine (x86)
               1 number of sections
        45499E0A time date stamp Thu Nov 02 03:28:10 2006
               0 file pointer to symbol table
               0 number of symbols
              E0 size of optional header
            2102 characteristics
                   Executable
                   32 bit word machine
                   DLL

OPTIONAL HEADER VALUES
             10B magic # (PE32)

You can see a couple clues in that output that it is a 32 bit DLL, including the 14C value that Paul mentions. Should be easy to look for in a script.

Java - What does "\n" mean?

(as per http://java.sun.com/...ex/Pattern.html)

The backslash character ('\') serves to introduce escaped constructs, as defined in the table above, as well as to quote characters that otherwise would be interpreted as unescaped constructs. Thus the expression \\ matches a single backslash and { matches a left brace.

Other examples of usage :

\\ The backslash character<br>
\t The tab character ('\u0009')<br>
\n The newline (line feed) character ('\u000A')<br>
\r The carriage-return character ('\u000D')<br>
\f The form-feed character ('\u000C')<br>
\a The alert (bell) character ('\u0007')<br>
\e The escape character ('\u001B')<br>
\cx The control character corresponding to x <br>

Android Layout Weight

i would suppose to set the EditTexts width to wrap_content and put the two buttons into a LinearLayout whose width is fill_parent and weight set to 1.

Can we use join for two different database tables?

SQL Server allows you to join tables from different databases as long as those databases are on the same server. The join syntax is the same; the only difference is that you must fully specify table names.

Let's suppose you have two databases on the same server - Db1 and Db2. Db1 has a table called Clients with a column ClientId and Db2 has a table called Messages with a column ClientId (let's leave asside why those tables are in different databases).

Now, to perform a join on the above-mentioned tables you will be using this query:

select *
from Db1.dbo.Clients c
join Db2.dbo.Messages m on c.ClientId = m.ClientId

Turning off hibernate logging console output

I changed the "debug" to "info" and it worked. Here is what I did:

Before:

log4j.rootLogger=debug, stdout, R

After:

log4j.rootLogger=info, stdout, R

Should I use window.navigate or document.location in JavaScript?

window.location also affects to the frame,

the best form i found is:

parent.window.location.href

And the worse is:

parent.document.URL

I did a massive browser test, and some rare IE with several plugins get undefined with the second form.

Output data with no column headings using PowerShell

In your case, when you just select a single property, the easiest way is probably to bypass any formatting altogether:

get-qadgroupmember 'Domain Admins' | foreach { $_.Name }

This will get you a simple string[] without column headings or empty lines. The Format-* cmdlets are mainly for human consumption and thus their output is not designed to be easily machine-readable or -parseable.

For multiple properties I'd probably go with the -f format operator. Something along the lines of

alias | %{ "{0,-10}{1,-10}{2,-60}" -f $_.COmmandType,$_.Name,$_.Definition }

which isn't pretty but gives you easy and complete control over the output formatting. And no empty lines :-)

What's the difference between a temp table and table variable in SQL Server?

The other main difference is that table variables don't have column statistics, where as temp tables do. This means that the query optimiser doesn't know how many rows are in the table variable (it guesses 1), which can lead to highly non-optimal plans been generated if the table variable actually has a large number of rows.

What does ENABLE_BITCODE do in xcode 7?

Update

Apple has clarified that slicing occurs independent of enabling bitcode. I've observed this in practice as well where a non-bitcode enabled app will only be downloaded as the architecture appropriate for the target device.

Original

More specifically:

Bitcode. Archive your app for submission to the App Store in an intermediate representation, which is compiled into 64- or 32-bit executables for the target devices when delivered.

Slicing. Artwork incorporated into the Asset Catalog and tagged for a platform allows the App Store to deliver only what is needed for installation.

The way I read this, if you support bitcode, downloaders of your app will only get the compiled architecture needed for their own device.

How can I run a function from a script in command line?

Solved post but I'd like to mention my preferred solution. Namely, define a generic one-liner script eval_func.sh:

#!/bin/bash
source $1 && shift && "@a"

Then call any function within any script via:

./eval_func.sh <any script> <any function> <any args>...

An issue I ran into with the accepted solution is that when sourcing my function-containing script within another script, the arguments of the latter would be evaluated by the former, causing an error.

Iteration over std::vector: unsigned vs signed index variable

I usually use BOOST_FOREACH:

#include <boost/foreach.hpp>

BOOST_FOREACH( vector_type::value_type& value, v ) {
    // do something with 'value'
}

It works on STL containers, arrays, C-style strings, etc.

How do I set adaptive multiline UILabel text?

I kind of got things working by adding auto layout constraints:

auto layout contraints

But I am not happy with this. Took a lot of trial and error and couldn't understand why this worked.

Also I had to add to use titleLabel.numberOfLines = 0 in my ViewController

URL rewriting with PHP

this is an .htaccess file that forward almost all to index.php

# if a directory or a file exists, use it directly
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-l
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !\.(ico|css|png|jpg|gif|js)$ [NC]
# otherwise forward it to index.php
RewriteRule . index.php

then is up to you parse $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] and route to picture.php or whatever
