Can you control how an SVG's stroke-width is drawn?

UPDATE: The stroke-alignment attribute was on April 1st, 2015 moved to a completely new spec called SVG Strokes.

As of the SVG 2.0 Editor’s Draft of February 26th, 2015 (and possibly since February 13th), the stroke-alignment property is present with the values inner, center (default) and outer.

It seems to work the same way as the stroke-location property proposed by @Phrogz and the later stroke-position suggestion. This property has been planned since at least 2011, but apart from an annotation that said

SVG 2 shall include a way to specify stroke position

, it has never been detailed in the spec as it was deferred - until now, it seems.

No browser support this property, or, as far as I know, any of the new SVG 2 features, yet, but hopefully they will soon as the spec matures. This has been a property I personally have been urging to have, and I'm really happy that it's finally there in the spec.

There seems to be some issues as to how to the property should behave on open paths as well as loops. These issues will, most probably, prolong implementations across browsers. However, I will update this answer with new information as browsers begin to support this property.

How to ignore user's time zone and force Date() use specific time zone

A Date object's underlying value is actually in UTC. To prove this, notice that if you type new Date(0) you'll see something like: Wed Dec 31 1969 16:00:00 GMT-0800 (PST). 0 is treated as 0 in GMT, but .toString() method shows the local time.

Big note, UTC stands for Universal time code. The current time right now in 2 different places is the same UTC, but the output can be formatted differently.

What we need here is some formatting

This works but.... you can't really use any of the other date methods for your purposes since they describe the user's timezone. What you want is a date object that's related to the Helsinki timezone. Your options at this point are to use some 3rd party library (I recommend this), or hack-up the date object so you can use most of it's methods.

Option 1 - a 3rd party like moment-timezone

moment(1270544790922).tz('Europe/Helsinki').format('YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss')
// outputs > 2010-04-06 12:06:30
moment(1270544790922).tz('Europe/Helsinki').hour()
// outputs > 12

This looks a lot more elegant than what we're about to do next.

Option 2 - Hack up the date object

It still thinks it's GMT-0700 (PDT), but if you don't stare too hard you may be able to mistake that for a date object that's useful for your purposes.

I conveniently skipped a part. You need to be able to define currentHelsinkiOffset. If you can use date.getTimezoneOffset() on the server side, or just use some if statements to describe when the time zone changes will occur, that should solve your problem.

Conclusion - I think especially for this purpose you should use a date library like moment-timezone.

I tried some stuff with unsafe and moving the (clearly redundant) character-to-nibble if sequence to another method, but this was the fastest it got.

(I concede that this answers half the question. I felt that the string->byte[] conversion was underrepresented, while the byte[]->string angle seems to be well covered. Thus, this answer.)

Using the CSS touch-action property is the most elegant solution. Tested on iOS 13.5 and iOS 14.

To disable pinch zoom gestures and and double-tap to zoom:

Android: How to rotate a bitmap on a center point

I came back to this problem now that we are finalizing the game and I just thought to post what worked for me.

This is the method for rotating the Matrix:

(this.getCenterX() is basically the bitmaps X position + the bitmaps width / 2)

And the method for Drawing the bitmap (called via a RenderManager Class):

So it is prettey straight forward but I find it abit strange that I couldn't get it to work by setRotate followed by postTranslate. Maybe some knows why this doesn't work? Now all the bitmaps rotate properly but it is not without some minor decrease in bitmap quality :/

Why can't I duplicate a slice with `copy()`?

The copy() runs for the least length of dst and src, so you must initialize the dst to the desired length.

This is the easiest/shortest method I can find.

This uses Array's reduce method (documentation here), which allows you to "reduce a collection of elements down to a single value by recursively applying the provided closure". We give it 0 as the initial value, and then, essentially, the closure { $0 + $1 }. Of course, we can simplify that to a single plus sign, because that's how Swift rolls.

Do Swift-based applications work on OS X 10.9/iOS 7 and lower?

It appears Swift applications don't run on OS X 10.7. I just created a simple GUI application (a view, a lable, a button) which runs fine on Mavericks. The base SDK is set to 10.9 and the deployment target to 10.7. I copied that application from the DerivedData folder over to my 10.7 virtual machine, and it crashs when starting, show this error:

Format specifier in printf should be %f for doubl datatypes since float datatyles eventually convert to double datatypes inside printf.

What is Angular CLI Budgets? Budgets is one of the less known features of the Angular CLI. It’s a rather small but a very neat feature!

As applications grow in functionality, they also grow in size. Budgets is a feature in the Angular CLI which allows you to set budget thresholds in your configuration to ensure parts of your application stay within boundaries which you setOfficial Documentation

Or in other words, we can describe our Angular application as a set of compiled JavaScript files called bundles which are produced by the build process. Angular budgets allows us to configure expected sizes of these bundles. More so, we can configure thresholds for conditions when we want to receive a warning or even fail build with an error if the bundle size gets too out of control!

How To Define A Budget? Angular budgets are defined in the angular.json file. Budgets are defined per project which makes sense because every app in a workspace has different needs.

Thinking pragmatically, it only makes sense to define budgets for the production builds. Prod build creates bundles with “true size” after applying all optimizations like tree-shaking and code minimization.

Oops, a build error! The maximum bundle size was exceeded. This is a great signal that tells us that something went wrong…

  1. We might have experimented in our feature and didn’t clean up properly
  2. Our tooling can go wrong and perform a bad auto-import, or we pick bad item from the suggested list of imports
  3. We might import stuff from lazy modules in inappropriate locations
  4. Our new feature is just really big and doesn’t fit into existing budgets

First Approach: Are your files gzipped?

Generally speaking, gzipped file has only about 20% the size of the original file, which can drastically decrease the initial load time of your app. To check if you have gzipped your files, just open the network tab of developer console. In the “Response Headers”, if you should see “Content-Encoding: gzip”, you are good to go.

How to gzip? If you host your Angular app in most of the cloud platforms or CDN, you should not worry about this issue as they probably have handled this for you. However, if you have your own server (such as NodeJS + expressJS) serving your Angular app, definitely check if the files are gzipped. The following is an example to gzip your static assets in a NodeJS + expressJS app. You can hardly imagine this dead simple middleware “compression” would reduce your bundle size from 2.21MB to 495.13KB.

You should then modify the batch file to use a certain Java version e.g. by defining a environment variable JAVA6HOME with the value C:\java\java6 (if Java 6 is installed in this directory) and change the batch file calling

The exec family of functions make your process execute a different program, replacing the old program it was running. I.e., if you call

What is /var/www/html?

/var/www/html is just the default root folder of the web server. You can change that to be whatever folder you want by editing your apache.conf file (usually located in /etc/apache/conf) and changing the DocumentRoot attribute (see http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/core.html#documentroot for info on that)

What causes the error "undefined reference to (some function)"?

It's a linker error. ld is the linker, so if you get an error message ending with "ld returned 1 exit status", that tells you that it's a linker error.

The error message tells you that none of the object files you're linking against contains a definition for avergecolumns. The reason for that is that the function you've defined is called averagecolumns (in other words: you misspelled the function name when calling the function (and presumably in the header file as well - otherwise you'd have gotten a different error at compile time)).

Strange problem with Subversion - "File already exists" when trying to recreate a directory that USED to be in my repository

already had this type of problem.

my solution was:

delete the folder from svn but keep a copy of the folder somewhere, commit the changes. in the backup-copy, delete recursively all the .svn-folders in it. for this you might run

Amazon products API - Looking for basic overview and information

I agree that Amazon appears to be intentionally obfuscating even how to find the API documentation, as well as use it. I'm just speculating though.

Renaming the services from "ECS" to "Product Advertising API" was probably also not the best move, it essentially invalidated all that Google mojo they had built up over time.

It took me quite a while to 'discover' this updated link for the Product Advertising API. I don't remember being able to easily discover it through the typical 'Developer' link on the Amazon webpage. This documentation appears to valid and what I've worked from recently.

The change to authentication procedures also seems to add further complexity, but I'm sure they have a reason for it.

I use SOAP via C# to communicate with Amazon Product API.

With the REST API you have to encrypt the whole URL in a fairly specific way. The params have to be sorted, etc. There is just more to do. With the SOAP API, you just encrypt the operation+timestamp, and thats it.

Adam O'Neil's post here, How to get album, dvd, and blueray cover art from Amazon, walks through the SOAP with C# method. Its not the original sample I pulled down, and contrary to his comment, it was not an official Amazon sample I stumbled on, though the code looks identical. Activities are the full screen components in the app with the toolbar, everything else are preferably Fragments. One full screen parent activity with a toolbar can have multiple panes, scrollable pages, dialogs, etc. (all fragments), all of which can be accessed from the parent and communicate via the parent.

Example:

Activity A, Activity B, Activity C:

  • All activities need to have same code repeated, to show a basic toolbar for example, or inherit from a parent activity (becomes cumbersome to manage).
  • To move from one activity to the other, either all of them need to be in memory (overhead) or one needs to be destroyed for the other to open.
  • Communication between activities can be done via Intents.

Activity A, Fragment 1, Fragment 2, Fragment 3:

  • No code repetition, all screens have toolbars etc. from that one activity.
  • Several ways to move from one fragment to next - view pager, multi pane etc.
  • Activity has most data, so minimal inter-fragment communication needed. If still necessary, can be done via interfaces easily.
  • Fragments do not need to be full screen, lots of flexibility in designing them.
  • Fragments do not need to inflate layout if views are not necessary.
  • Several activities can use the same fragment.

Removing the href attribute definitely seems to the way to go. If for some reason you need it later, I would just store it in another attribute, e.g.

This is the only way to do it that will make the link appear disabled as well without writing custom CSS. As a rule of thumb, you should build a fat JAR using Maven (a JAR that contains both your code and all dependencies).

Then you can write a Dockerfile that matches your requirements (if you can build a fat JAR you would only need a base os, like CentOS, and the JVM).

This creates a CentOS-based image with Java7. When started, it will execute your app jar.

The best way to deploy it is via the Docker Registry, it's like a Github for Docker images.

You can then push an image in this way:

docker push username/projectname # this pushes all tags

Once the image is on the Docker Registry, you can pull it from anywhere in the world and run it.

You could also pull your repository inside an image and build the jar as part of the container execution, but it's not a good approach, as the code could change and you might end up using a different version of the app without notice.

Building a fat jar removes this issue.

To answer your direct question: neither of these is the preferred method. Use a separate file.

Inline styles should only be used as a last resort, or set by Javascript code. Inline styles have the highest level of specificity, so override your actual stylesheets. This can make them hard to control (you should avoid !important as well for the same reason).

An embedded <style> block is not recommended, because you lose the browser's ability to cache the stylesheet across multiple pages on your site.

So in short, wherever possible, you should put your styles into a separate CSS file.

In Vim you can also use gJ (G, then Shift + J) or :join!. These will join lines without doing any whitespace adjustments.

Difference between Xms and Xmx and XX:MaxPermSize

Java objects reside in an area called the heap, while metadata such as class objects and method objects reside in the permanent generation or Perm Gen area. The permanent generation is not part of the heap.

The heap is created when the JVM starts up and may increase or decrease in size while the application runs. When the heap becomes full, garbage is collected. During the garbage collection objects that are no longer used are cleared, thus making space for new objects.

-Xmssize Specifies the initial heap size.

-Xmxsize Specifies the maximum heap size.

-XX:MaxPermSize=size Sets the maximum permanent generation space size. This option was deprecated in JDK 8, and superseded by the -XX:MaxMetaspaceSize option.

Sizes are expressed in bytes. Append the letter k or K to indicate kilobytes, m or M to indicate megabytes, g or G to indicate gigabytes.

I've decided to post my own answer here because I've lost a few hours on this and I think that, although the accepted answer is very good and pointed me in the right direction (yes, it got a voteup), it was not detailed enough to explain what was wrong with my application, at least in my case.

I'm running a BPEL module in OpenESB 2.2 and the Test Case of my Composite Application was failing with the following error:

Caused by: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: .

After doing some research I've noticed that the external WSDL has all the clues we need to fix this problem, e.g., I'm using the following web service to validate a credit card number through a orchestration of Web Services: http://www.webservicex.net/CreditCard.asmx?WSDL

If you check the <wsdl:operation elements you will see that it clearly states the soapAction for that operation:

AFAIK the files in the assets directory don't get unpacked. Instead, they are read directly from the APK (ZIP) file.

So, you really can't make stuff that expects a file accept an asset 'file'.

MySQL Data Source not appearing in Visual Studio

Just struggled with Visutal Studio 2017 Community Edition - none of above options worked for me. In my case what i had to do was:

  1. Run MySQL Installer and install/upgrade: Connector/NET and MySQL for Visual Studio to current versions (8.0.17 and 1.2.8 at the time)

  2. Run Visual Studio Installer > Visual Studio Community 2017 > Modify > Individual components > add .NET Framework Targeting Packs for 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1 and 4.7.2

  3. Reopen project and change project target platform to 4.7.2

  4. Remove all MySQL-related nuGET packages and references

  5. Install following nuGET packages: EntityFramework, MySql.Data.Entity, Mysql.Data.Entities

  6. Upgrade following nuGET packages: MySql.Data, BouncyCastle nad Google.Protobuf (for some reason there is an update available just after install)

I am late for the answer but I think this is another solution which is not mentioned here so posting.

Step 1: Make a xml of menu which you want to add like I have to add a filter action on my action bar so I have created a xml filter.xml. The main line to notice is android:orderInCategory this will show the action icon at first or last wherever you want to show. One more thing to note down is the value, if the value is less then it will show at first and if value is greater then it will show at last.

There are a few important rules to install Tensorflow:

  • You have to install Python x64. It doesn't work on 32b and it gives the same error as yours.

Hexadecimal value 0x00 is a invalid character

Without your actual data or source, it will be hard for us to diagnose what is going wrong. However, I can make a few suggestions:

  • Unicode NUL (0x00) is illegal in all versions of XML and validating parsers must reject input that contains it.
  • Despite the above; real-world non-validated XML can contain any kind of garbage ill-formed bytes imaginable.
  • XML 1.1 allows zero-width and nonprinting control characters (except NUL), so you cannot look at an XML 1.1 file in a text editor and tell what characters it contains.

Given what you wrote, I suspect whatever converts the database data to XML is broken; it's propagating non-XML characters.

Create some database entries with non-XML characters (NULs, DELs, control characters, et al.) and run your XML converter on it. Output the XML to a file and look at it in a hex editor. If this contains non-XML characters, your converter is broken. Fix it or, if you cannot, create a preprocessor that rejects output with such characters.

If the converter output looks good, the problem is in your XML consumer; it's inserting non-XML characters somewhere. You will have to break your consumption process into separate steps, examine the output at each step, and narrow down what is introducing the bad characters.

Check file encoding (for UTF-16)

Update: I just ran into an example of this myself! What was happening is that the producer was encoding the XML as UTF16 and the consumer was expecting UTF8. Since UTF16 uses 0x00 as the high byte for all ASCII characters and UTF8 doesn't, the consumer was seeing every second byte as a NUL. In my case I could change encoding, but suggested all XML payloads start with a BOM.

Change user-agent for Selenium web-driver

There is no way in Selenium to read the request or response headers. You could do it by instructing your browser to connect through a proxy that records this kind of information.

Setting the User Agent in Firefox

The usual way to change the user agent for Firefox is to set the variable "general.useragent.override" in your Firefox profile. Note that this is independent from Selenium.

You can direct Selenium to use a profile different from the default one, like this:

Once the browser is started, however, you can get the user agent by executing:

The agent variable will contain the user agent.

The action occurs when you attempt to call an object which is not a function, as with (). For instance, this will produce the error:

mysql - move rows from one table to another

I had to solve the same issue and this is what I used as solution.

To use this solution the source and destination table must be identical, and the must have an id unique and autoincrement in first table (so that the same id is never reused).

How to calculate percentage when old value is ZERO

If you're required to show growth as a percentage it's customary to display [NaN] or something similar in these cases. A growth rate, on the other hand, would be reported in this case as $/month. So in your example for April the growth rate would be calculated as ((20-0)/1.

In any event, determining the correct method for reporting this special case is a user decision. Is it covered in your user requirements?

Git 1.8.2 added the possibility to track branches.

"git submodule" started learning a new mode to integrate with the tip of the remote branch (as opposed to integrating with the commit recorded in the superproject's gitlink).

This allows you to easily record a submodule.<name>.branch option in .gitmodules when you add a new submodule. With this patch,

This means that future calls to

Original answer (February 2012):

A submodule is a single commit referenced by a parent repo.
Since it is a Git repo on its own, the "history of all commits" is accessible through a git log within that submodule.

So for a parent to track automatically the latest commit of a given branch of a submodule, it would need to:

  • cd in the submodule
  • git fetch/pull to make sure it has the latest commits on the right branch
  • cd back in the parent repo
  • add and commit in order to record the new commit of the submodule.

gitslave (that you already looked at) seems to be the best fit, including for the commit operation.

It is a little annoying to make changes to the submodule due to the requirement to check out onto the correct submodule branch, make the change, commit, and then go into the superproject and commit the commit (or at least record the new location of the submodule).

Other alternatives are detailed here.

convert string to char*

First of all, you would have to allocate memory:

then you can use strcpy with S and R.c_str():

You can also use R.c_str() if the string doesn't get changed or the c string is only used once. However, if S is going to be modified, you should copy the string, as writing to R.c_str() results in undefined behavior.

Note: Instead of strcpy you can also use str::copy.

Do copyright dates need to be updated?

I don't think they are reprinting paper books each year. The copyright of the year when the book was printed is valid in all next years.

The same principle should apply to web pages, too. However "the year when website was created" is a bit different. So, if you make changes to your web site - you are not done yet. Hence, when updating the site, you may want to update the copyright year.

Never use =='NA' to test for missing values. Use is.na() instead. This should do it:

If you want to do this without blocking your remaining code, you can use this to let it run in its own thread:

This solution combines several features rarely found combined in the other solutions:

  • Exception handling: As far as possible on this level, exceptions are handled properly, i. e. get logged for debugging purposes without aborting our program.
  • No chaining: The common chain-like implementation (for scheduling the next event) you find in many answers is brittle in the aspect that if anything goes wrong within the scheduling mechanism (threading.Timer or whatever), this will terminate the chain. No further executions will happen then, even if the reason of the problem is already fixed. A simple loop and waiting with a simple sleep() is much more robust in comparison.
  • No drift: My solution keeps an exact track of the times it is supposed to run at. There is no drift depending on the execution time (as in many other solutions).
  • Skipping: My solution will skip tasks if one execution took too much time (e. g. do X every five seconds, but X took 6 seconds). This is the standard cron behavior (and for a good reason). Many other solutions then simply execute the task several times in a row without any delay. For most cases (e. g. cleanup tasks) this is not wished. If it is wished, simply use next_time += delay instead.

How to get host name with port from a http or https request

You can use HttpServletRequest.getScheme() to retrieve either "http" or "https".

Using it along with HttpServletRequest.getServerName() should be enough to rebuild the portion of the URL you need.

You don't need to explicitly put the port in the URL if you're using the standard ones (80 for http and 443 for https).

Edit: If your servlet container is behind a reverse proxy or load balancer that terminates the SSL, it's a bit trickier because the requests are forwarded to the servlet container as plain http. You have a few options:

1) Use HttpServletRequest.getHeader("x-forwarded-proto") instead; this only works if your load balancer sets the header correctly (Apache should afaik).

2) Configure a RemoteIpValve in JBoss/Tomcat that will make getScheme() work as expected. Again, this will only work if the load balancer sets the correct headers.

3) If the above don't work, you could configure two different connectors in Tomcat/JBoss, one for http and one for https, as described in this article.

Having a smaller buffer size would be helpful in copying tiny files. Even "char buffer[2]" would do the job.

Best way to check for IE less than 9 in JavaScript without library

You are all trying to overcomplicate such simple things. Just use a plain and simple JScript conditional comment. It is the fastest because it adds zero code to non-IE browsers for the detection, and it has compatibility dating back to versions of IE before HTML conditional comments were supported. In short,
