This is an old answer with deprecated and hacky way of overcoming some specific content resolver pain points. Take it with some huge grains of salt and use the proper openInputStream API if at all possible.

UTF-8 is a multibyte encoding that can represent any Unicode character. ISO 8859-1 is a single-byte encoding that can represent the first 256 Unicode characters. Both encode ASCII exactly the same way.

Here's the Mac OS X equivalent of Linux's wget.

For Linux, for instance Ubuntu on an AWS instance, use:

On a Mac, i.e. for local development, use this:

The -o parameter is required on a Mac for output into a file instead of on screen. Specify a different target name for renaming the downloaded file.

Use capital -O for renaming with wget. Lowercase -o will specify output file for transfer log.

If you want to do this programmatically you can use some of the options given to you as follows in a PowerShell script:

However; be aware that the more accurate you can be the more precise your PID result will be. If you know which host the port is supposed to be on you can narrow it down a lot. netstat -aon | findstr "0.0.0.0:9999" will only return one application and most llikely the correct one. Only searching on the port number may cause you to return processes that only happens to have 9999 in it, like this:

The most likely candidate usually ends up first, but if the process has ended before you run your script you may end up with PID 12331 instead and killing the wrong process.

They might be just a \r or a \n. I just checked and the text visualizer in VS 2010 displays both as newlines as well as \r\n.

I think your problem is that you send the broadcast before the other activity start ! so the other activity will not receive anything .

1. The best practice to test your code is to sendbroadcast from thread or from a service so the activity is opened and its registered the receiver and the background process sends a message.
2. start the ToastDisplay activity from the sender activity ( I didn't test that but it may work probably )

While a good answer has been given (using Process.Start), it is safer to encapsulate it in a function that checks that the passed string is indeed a URI, to avoid accidentally starting random processes on the machine.

The only situation in which the code may not work is when notepad is started as Administrator and your application is not.

If you have a value that includes a decimal, but the decimal value is negligible (ie: 100.0) and try to int that, you will get an error. It seems silly, but calling float first fixes this.

Alternatively to what the others are correctly suggesting, I find it easier usually to toggle CSS classes, instead of individual CSS settings (especially background image URLs). For example:

If the JSON data in your array is sorted in some way, there are a variety of searches you could implement. However, if you're not dealing with a lot of data then you're probably going to be fine with an O(n) operation here (as you have). Anything else would probably be overkill.

Oracle's JVM implementation for Java 8 got rid of the PermGen model and replaced it with Metaspace.

CouchDB and MySQL are two very different beasts. JSON is the native way to store stuff in CouchDB. In MySQL, the best you could do is store JSON data as text in a single field. This would entirely defeat the purpose of storing it in an RDBMS and would greatly complicate every database transaction.

Having said that, FriendFeed seemed to use an extremely custom schema on top of MySQL. It really depends on what exactly you want to store, there's hardly one definite answer on how to abuse a database system so it makes sense for you. Given that the article is very old and their main reason against Mongo and Couch was immaturity, I'd re-evaluate these two if MySQL doesn't cut it for you. They should have grown a lot by now.

Since Server.MapPath() does not exist within a Web Api (Soap or REST), you'll need to denote the local- relative to the web server's context- home directory. The easiest way to do so is with:

You can then use this to concatenate a path string to map the relative path to any file.
NOTE: string paths are \ and not / like they are in mvc.

There are few modules that provides similar behavior, but not exactly like PHP's strtotime. Among few alternatives I found date-util yields the best results.

In case of your python being an pyenv installed one, where pyenv is installed with homebrew on macOS, there might me a newer version available which fixes this:

I think this answer is similar to Berat's, in that you put all the code for your DropDownList directly in the view. But I think this is an efficient way of creating a y/n (boolean) drop down list, so I wanted to share it.

Some notes for beginners:

• Don't worry about what 'x' is called - it is created here, for the first time, and doesn't link to anything else anywhere else in the MVC app, so you can call it what you want - 'x', 'model', 'm' etc.
• The placeholder that users will see in the dropdown list is "Choose an option", so you can change this if you want.
• There's a bit of text preceding the drop down which says "Do you like pizza?"
• This should be complete text for a form, including a submit button, I think

To work around this, you have 3 options:

• Add the two methods
• Make each class that extends Shape abstract

• Have a single method that does the function of the classes that will extend Shape, and override that method in Rectangle and Ellipse, for example:

To make a field required, use required or required="true"

I think required="required" has been deprecated in version 3 of bootstrap.

Convert.ToInt32() takes uint as a value.

The relative path works in in java using the . operator.

• . means same folder as the currently running context.
• .. means the parent folder of the currently running context.

So the question is how do you know the path where the java is currently looking?

do a small experiment

   File directory = new File("./");
   System.out.println(directory.getAbsolutePath());

Observe the output , you will come to know the current directory where java is looking . From there , simply use the ./ operator to locate your file.

for example if the output is

It looks like this error 0xe0434352 applies to a number of different errors.

In case it helps anyone, I ran into this error when I was trying to install my application on a new Windows 10 installation. It worked on other machines, and looked like the app momentarily would start before dying. After much trial and error the problem turned out to be that the app required DirectX9. Though a later version of DirectX was present it had to have version 9. Hope that saves someone some frustration.

Change your code like this. You forget about the value inside option. Before you assign the ng-model. It must have a value. Only then it doesn't get the undefined value.

For me the problem was bad/missing config values for the Plesk server running the whole thing. I just followed the directions here: http://davidseah.com/blog/2007/04/separate-php-error-logs-for-multiple-domains-with-plesk/

You can configure PHP to have a separate error log file for each VirtualHost definition. The trick is knowing exactly how to set it up, because you can’t touch the configuration directly without breaking Plesk. Every domain name on your (dv) has its own directory in /var/www/vhosts. A typical directory has the following top level directories:

cgi-bin/
conf/
error_docs/
httpdocs/
httpsdocs/
...and so on

You’ll want to create a vhost.conf file in the domain directory’s conf/ folder with the following lines:

When you call the function in a static context, $this simply doesn't exist.

You would have to use this::xyz() instead.

To find out what context you're in when a function can be called both statically and in an object instance, a good approach is outlined in this question: How to tell whether I’m static or an object?

I think of it as a large array of binary data. The usability of BLOB follows immediately from the limited bandwidth of the DB interface, it is not determined by the DB storage mechanisms. No matter how you store the large piece of data, the only way to store and retrieve is the narrow database interface. The database is a bottleneck of the system. Why to use it as a file server, which can easily be distributed? Normally you do not want to download the BLOB. You just want the DB to store your BLOB urls. Deposite the BLOBs on a separate file server. Then, you reliefe the precious DB connection and provide unlimited bandwidth for large objects. This creates some issue of coherence though.

Instead of using regex, it is generally better to parse the string as a datetime.datetime object:

I understand where Roland is coming from, but since this is only 3 attributes, and complications arise from superimposing bars and error bars this may be reasonable to leave the data in wide format like it is. It could be slightly reduced in complexity by using geom_pointrange.

To change the background color for the error bars legend in the original, add + theme(legend.key = element_rect(fill = "white",colour = "white")) to the plot specification. To merge different legends, you typically need to have a consistent mapping for all elements, but it is currently producing an artifact of a black background for me. I thought guide = guide_legend(fill = NULL,colour = NULL) would set the background to null for the legend, but it did not. Perhaps worth another question.

Assuming you have Notepad++, an often-missed feature is 'Find in files', which is extremely fast and comes with filters, regular expressions, replace and all the N++ goodies.

In case this happens to anyone else who tried both alphazero and Paul's method and still didn't work.

For me, eclipse somehow 'cached' the compile errors even after doing a Project > Clean...

I had to uncheck Project > Build Automatically, then do a Project > Clean, and then build again.

Also, when in doubt, try restarting Eclipse. This can fix a lot of awkward, unexplainable errors.

This helped me get close to what I needed and I will throw this out there for anyone else who needs it.

Problem is that the calendar didn't work without it. 30 seconds is a bit short for my use, so i changed that in my own file to 15 minutes This worked for me.

Although this question is raised over 8 years ago with various solutions and answers, the easiest solution that can be easily updated to increase the scale by just inserting a name in the array without code modification; and also using very short code is the function below.

This solution is for the English reading of numbers (not the South-Asian System) and uses the standard US English (American way) of writing large numbers. i.e. it does not use the UK System (the UK system uses the word "and" like: "three hundred and twenty-two thousand").

Test cases are provided and also an input field.

Remember, it is "Unsigned Integers" that we are converting to words.

You can increase the scale[] array beyond Sextillion.

As the function is short, you can use it as an internal function in, say, currency conversion where decimal numbers are used and call it twice for the whole part and the fractional part.

One of the scenarios I found useful to use CTE is when you want to get DISTINCT rows of data based on one or more columns but return all columns in the table. With a standard query you might first have to dump the distinct values into a temp table and then try to join them back to the original table to retrieve the rest of the columns or you might write an extremely complex partition query that can return the results in one run but in most likelihood, it will be unreadable and cause performance issue.

But by using CTE (as answered by Tim Schmelter on Select the first instance of a record)

As you can see, this is much easier to read and maintain. And in comparison to other queries, is much better at performance.

In numpy, index and dimension numbering starts with 0. So axis 0 means the 1st dimension. Also in numpy a dimension can have length (size) 0. The simplest case is:

I also get it if x = np.zeros((0,5), int), a 2d array with 0 rows, and 5 columns.

So someplace in your code you are creating an array with a size 0 first axis.

When asking about errors, it is expected that you tell us where the error occurs.

Also when debugging problems like this, the first thing you should do is print the shape (and maybe the dtype) of the suspected variables.

Applied to pandas

• The same error can occur for those using pandas, when sending a Series or DataFrame to a numpy.array, as with the following:
  • pandas.Series.values or pandas.Series.to_numpy() or pandas.Series.array
  • pandas.DataFrame.values or pandas.DataFrame.to_numpy()

original answer: In Android N they introduced a new Html.fromHtml method. Html.fromHtml now requires an additional parameter, named flags. This flag gives you more control about how your HTML gets displayed.

On Android N and above you should use this new method. The older method is deprecated and may be removed in the future Android versions.

You can create your own Util-method which will use the old method on older versions and the newer method on Android N and above. If you don't add a version check your app will break on lower Android versions. You can use this method in your Util class.

A simple insert/select like your 2nd option is far preferable. For each insert in the 1st option you require a context switch from pl/sql to sql. Run each with trace/tkprof and examine the results.

If, as Michael mentions, your rollback cannot handle the statement then have your dba give you more. Disk is cheap, while partial results that come from inserting your data in multiple passes is potentially quite expensive. (There is almost no undo associated with an insert.)

abs() : Returns the absolute value as per the argument i.e. if argument is int then it returns int, if argument is float it returns float. Also it works on complex variable also i.e. abs(a+bj) also works and returns absolute value i.e.math.sqrt(((a)**2)+((b)**2)

math.fabs() : It only works on the integer or float values. Always returns the absolute float value no matter what is the argument type(except for the complex numbers).

yone way you could take a backup from a remote SQL Server instance to your local drive, given the following condition is met:

1. You have a shared folder on your local drive.
2. the shared folder is accessible from the SQL Server box.

Now when specifying the backup command, use the shared folder path when specifying the disk option.

To be clear about what is going on here:

• The recommended way to set the temporary directory location is to set the System property called "java.io.tmpdir", e.g. by giving the option -Djava.io.tmpdir=/mytempdir to the java command. Empirically, the "TMP" environment variable works on Windows (with current JVMs), but not on other platforms. If you care about portability you should explicitly set the system property.

A simple solution that no one else has said but worked for me was not running without sudo or not as root.

Without knowing the exact regex implementation you're making use of, I can only give general advice. (The syntax I will be perl as that's what I know, some languages will require tweaking)

• The first thing to match is ABC: So using our regex is /ABC:/

• You say ABC is always at the start of the string so /^ABC/ will ensure that ABC is at the start of the string.

• You can match spaces with the \s (note the case) directive. With all directives you can match one or more with + (or 0 or more with *)

• You need to escape the usage of ( and ) as it's a reserved character. so \(\)

• You can match any non space or newline character with .

• You can match anything at all with .* but you need to be careful you're not too greedy and capture everything.

So in order to capture what you've asked. I would use /^ABC:\s*\(.+?\)\s*(.+)$/

Which I read as:

Begins with ABC:

May have some spaces

has (

has some characters

has )

may have some spaces

then capture everything until the end of the line (which is $).

Disposing of a Working Copy

Subversion doesn't track either the state or the existence of working copies on the server, so there's no server overhead to keeping working copies around. Likewise, there's no need to let the server know that you're going to delete a working copy.

If you're likely to use a working copy again, there's nothing wrong with just leaving it on disk until you're ready to use it again, at which point all it takes is an svn update to bring it up to date and ready for use.

Both DLL and EXE are Portable Executable(PE) Formats

A Dynamic-link library (DLL) is a library and therefore can not be executed directly. If you try to run it you will get an error about a missing entry point. It needs an entry point (main function) to get executed, that entry point can be any application or exe. DLL binding occurs at run-time. That is why its called "Dynamic Link" library.

An Executable (EXE) is a program that can be executed. It has its own entry point. A flag inside the PE header indicates which type of file it is (irrelevant of file extension). The PE header has a field where the entry point for the program resides. In DLLs it isn't used (or at least not as an entry point).

There are many software available to check header information. The only difference causing both to work differently is the bit in header as shown in below diagram.

EXE file has only single main entry means it is isolated application, when a system launches exe, a new process is created while DLLs have many entry points so when application use it no new process started, DLL can be reused and versioned. DLL reduces storage space as different programs can use the same dll.

Function-instantiation is allowed inside and outside of functions. Inside those functions, just like variables, the nested functions are local and therefore cannot be obtained from the outside scope.

A static library must be linked into the final executable; it becomes part of the executable and follows it wherever it goes. A dynamic library is loaded every time the executable is executed and remains separate from the executable as a DLL file.

You would use a static library whenever you don't have a reason to use a dynamic library.

To store your app files in SD card, you should use File[] getExternalFilesDirs (String type) method in Context class. Generally, second returned path would be the storage path for microSD card (if any).

On my phone, second path returned was /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/your.application.package.appname/files after passing null as argument to getExternalFilesDirs (String type). But path may vary on different phones, different Android versions.

Both File getExternalStorageDirectory () and File getExternalStoragePublicDirectory (String type) in Environment class may return SD card directory or internal memory directory depending on your phone's model and Android OS version.

Because According to Official Android Guide external storage can be

removable storage media (such as an SD card) or an internal (non-removable) storage.

Yes, Daniel is correct, but to expand upon his answer, your primary app component would need to have a navbar component within it. That way, when you render the primary app (any page under the '/' path), it would also display the navbar. I am guessing that you wouldn't want your login page to display the navbar, so that shouldn't be a nested component, and should instead be by itself. The observation that the event had to be initiated by the user helped me to figure out the first part of this, but even after that Chrome and Firefox still blocked the new window. The second part was adding target="_blank" to the link, which was mentioned in one comment.

In summary: you need to call window.open from an event initiated by the user, in this case clicking on a link, and that link needs to have target="_blank".

I think what you're of doing here is using a structure containing your class instances. I don't know the syntax for naming structures in python, but in perl I could create a structure obj.id[x] where x is an incremented integer. Add a keyup handler for your textbox that checks the textbox contents with this regex ^[0-9]{1,14}\.[0-9]{2}$ and if it doesn't match, make the background red or show a text or whatever you like. Here's a JSFiddle of this in action. Also, do the same regex server side and if it doesn't match, the requirements have not been met. You can also do this check the onsubmit event and not let the user submit the page if the regex didn't match.

The reason for not enforcing the mask upon text inserting is that it complicates things a lot, e.g. as I mentioned in the comment, the user cannot begin entering the valid input since the beggining of it is not valid. It is possible though, but I suggest this instead.

Be careful, however, for your call to Range("H5") is a shortcut command to Application.Range("H5"), which is equivalent to Application.ActiveSheet.Range("H5"). This could be fine, if the only changes are user-changes -- which is the most typical -- but it is possible for the worksheet's cell values to change when it is not the active sheet via programmatic changes, e.g. VBA.

The javadoc for Math.atan(double) is pretty clear that the returning value can range from -pi/2 to pi/2. So you need to compensate for that return value.

VBA subs are no macros. A VBA sub can be a macro, but it is not a must.

The term "macro" is only used for recorded user actions. from these actions a code is generated and stored in a sub. This code is simple and do not provide powerful structures like loops, for example Do .. until, for .. next, while.. do, and others.

The more elegant way is, to design and write your own VBA code without using the macro features!

VBA is a object based and event oriented language. Subs, or bette call it "sub routines", are started by dedicated events. The event can be the pressing of a button or the opening of a workbook and many many other very specific events.

If you focus to VB6 and not to VBA, then you can state, that there is always a main-window or main form. This form is started if you start the compiled executable "xxxx.exe".

In VBA you have nothing like this, but you have a XLSM file wich is started by Excel. You can attach some code to the Workbook_Open event. This event is generated, if you open your desired excel file which is called a workbook. Inside the workbook you have worksheets.

It is useful to get more familiar with the so called object model of excel. The workbook has several events and methods. Also the worksheet has several events and methods.

In the object based model you have objects, that have events and methods. methods are action you can do with a object. events are things that can happen to an object. An objects can contain another objects, and so on. You can create new objects, like sheets or charts.

I realize this is a rather old post, but it seems to still be reasonably active, and I thought I'd contribute a couple of points that have not yet been mentioned in other answers.

I will say that I agree with the benefits of dependency injection, but I do prefer to construct and manage the objects myself, using a pattern not unlike that outlined by Maxm007 in his answer. I have found two main problems with using 3rd party containers:

1) Having a 3rd party library manage the lifetime of your objects "automagically" can lend itself to unexpected results. We have found that especially in large projects, you can have vastly more copies of an object than you expect, and more than you would if you were manually managing the lifecycles. I'm sure this varies depending on the framework used, but the problem exists nonetheless. This can also be problematic if your object holds resources, data connections, etc., since the object can sometimes live longer than you expect. So inevitably, IoC containers tend to increase the resource utilization and memory footprint of an application.

2) IoC containers, in my opinion, are a form of "black box programming". I have found that in particular, our less experienced developers tend to abuse them. It allows the programmer to not have to think about how objects should relate to each other or how to decouple them, because it provides them with a mechanism in which they can simply grab any object they want out of thin air. Eg, there may be a good design reason that ObjectA should never know about ObjectB directly, but rather than creating a factory or bridge or service locator, an inexperienced programmer will simply say "no problem, I'll just grab ObjectB from the IoC container". This can actually lead to increased object coupling, which is what IoC is supposed to help prevent.

One problem is, that the compiler does not know, which kind of value is delivered by your function; is assumes, that the function returns an int in this case, but this can be as correct as it can be wrong. Another problem is, that the compiler does not know, which kind of arguments your function expects, and cannot warn you, if you are passing values of the wrong kind. You can place the css in a separate file, which is recommended. In my example, I created a file called styles.css and placed my css rules in it. Then include it in the html document in the <head> section as follows:

I just got this same error, "cannot open git-upload-pack", in Eclipse with a BitBucket repo trying to do a pull or a push. I resolved it by switching local branches (Team/Switch To) to the master branch and doing a pull, and then switching back to the branch I was working on and pulling again.

The standard streams have a boolalpha flag that determines what gets displayed -- when it's false, they'll display as 0 and 1. When it's true, they'll display as false and true.

There's also an std::boolalpha manipulator to set the flag, so this:

For what it's worth, the actual word produced when boolalpha is set to true is localized--that is, <locale> has a num_put category that handles numeric conversions, so if you imbue a stream with the right locale, it can/will print out true and false as they're represented in that locale. The names that get used are defined in a numpunct facet though, so if you really want them to print out correctly for particular language, you can create a numpunct facet to do that. For example, one that (I believe) is at least reasonably accurate for French would look like this:

IMHO

So does .Aggregate help readability? In general I love LINQ because I think .Where, .Select, .OrderBy and so on greatly helps readability (if you avoid inlined hierarhical .Selects). Aggregate has to be in Linq for completeness reasons but personally I am not so convinced that .Aggregate adds readability compared to a well written foreach.

If you are not giving export default then it throws an error. check if you have given module.exports = Speaker; //spelling mistake here you have written exoprts and check in all the modules whether you have exported correct.

In practice, this almost always happens due to large scans over big tables. It almost never happens in queries that use indexes efficiently.

, check that you have a composite index on (col1, col_primary_key).

If you don't have one, then you'll need either a full INDEX SCAN if the PRIMARY KEY is chosen, or a SORT if an index on col1 is chosen.

You can't stop a timer function mid-execution. You can only catch it after it completes and prevent it from triggering again.

Maybe another question is, "what are you going to do with those indices once you get them?" If you are going to use them to create another list, then in Python, they are an unnecessary middle step. If you want all the values that match a given condition, just use the builtin filter:

matchingVals = filter(lambda x : x>2, a)

Or write your own list comprhension:
