To understand why we need constraints, you must first understand the value of data integrity.

Data Integrity refers to the validity of data. Are your data valid? Are your data representing what you have designed them to?

What weird questions I ask you might think, but sadly enough all too often, databases are filled with garbage data, invalid references to rows in other tables, that are long gone... and values that doesn't mean anything to the business logic of your solution any longer.

All this garbage is not alone prone to reduce your performance, but is also a time-bomb under your application logic that eventually will retreive data that it is not designed to understand.

Constraints are rules you create at design-time that protect your data from becoming corrupt. It is essential for the long time survival of your heart child of a database solution. Without constraints your solution will definitely decay with time and heavy usage.

You have to acknowledge that designing your database design is only the birth of your solution. Here after it must live for (hopefully) a long time, and endure all kinds of (strange) behaviour by its end-users (ie. client applications). But this design-phase in development is crucial for the long-time success of your solution! Respect it, and pay it the time and attention it requires.

A wise man once said: "Data must protect itself!". And this is what constraints do. It is rules that keep the data in your database as valid as possible.

There are many ways of doing this, but basically they boil down to:

• Foreign key constraints is probably the most used constraint, and ensures that references to other tables are only allowed if there actually exists a target row to reference. This also makes it impossible to break such a relationship by deleting the referenced row creating a dead link.
• Check constraints can ensure that only specific values are allowed in certain column. You could create a constraint only allowing the word 'Yellow' or 'Blue' in a VARCHAR column. All other values would yield an error. Get ideas for usage of check constraints check the sys.check_constraints view in the AdventureWorks sample database
• Rules in SQL Server are just reusable Check Constraints (allows you to maintain the syntax from a single place, and making it easier to deploy your constraints to other databases)

As I've hinted here, it takes some thorough considerations to construct the best and most defensive constraint approach for your database design. You first need to know the possibilities and limitations of the different constraint types above. Further reading could include:

Another option would be to build it automatically using Eclipse. Of course if you have continuous integration environment Ant or Maven is recommended. The export alternative is not very convenient because you have to configure every time the export properties.

STEPS:

1. Enable "Project Archives" support; this might depend on your project (I used it on Java EE/Web project). Right-click project root directory; Configure -> Add Project Archives Support.

2. Go and create a new archive in the "Project Archives" top dir. You have only jar option, but name you archive *.war.

3. Configure Fileset-s, i.e what files to be included. Typical is to configure two filesets similar how the Web Deployment Assembly (project property) is configured.

   • copy /WebContent to /
   • copy /build/classes to WEB-INF/classes (create this fileset after you define the WEB-INF/classes directory in the archive)

4. You might need to tweek the fileset exclude property depending where you placed some of the config files or you might need more filesets, but the idea is that once you configured this you don't need to change it.

OAuth is a protocol with which a 3-party app can access your data stored in another website without your account and password. For a more official definition, refer to the Wiki or specification.

Here is a use case demo:

1. I login to LinkedIn and want to connect some friends who are in my Gmail contacts. LinkedIn supports this. It will request a secure resource (my gmail contact list) from gmail. So I click this button:
   

2. A web page pops up, and it shows the Gmail login page, when I enter my account and password:
   

3. Gmail then shows a consent page where I click "Accept":

4. Now LinkedIn can access my contacts in Gmail:

Below is a flowchart of the example above:

Step 1: LinkedIn requests a token from Gmail's Authorization Server.

Step 2: The Gmail authorization server authenticates the resource owner and shows the user the consent page. (the user needs to login to Gmail if they are not already logged-in)

Step 3: User grants the request for LinkedIn to access the Gmail data.

Step 4: the Gmail authorization server responds back with an access token.

Step 5: LinkedIn calls the Gmail API with this access token.

Step 6: The Gmail resource server returns your contacts if the access token is valid. (The token will be verified by the Gmail resource server)

Simply doing git mv CSS css gave the invalid argument error: fatal: renaming '/static/CSS' failed: Invalid argument perhaps because OSX's file system is case insensitive

p.s BTW if you are using Django, collectstatic also wouldn't recognize the case difference and you'd have to do the above, manually, in the static root directory as well

AJAX is also a possibility. Effectively you would want data from the php page. Once you have the data you can format in anyway in javascript and display.

It looks like the github.com host which jenkins tries to connect to is not listed under the Jenkins user's $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts. Jenkins runs on most distros as the user jenkins and hence has its own .ssh directory to store the list of public keys and known_hosts.

The easiest solution I can think of to fix this problem is:

There are a couple of things wrong in this code:

1. You're using <input> the wrong way. You should use a <label> if you want to make the text behind it clickable.
2. It's setting the enabled attribute, which does not exist. Use disabled instead.

Answer by Adamski is a good one and describes the steps in an encoding operation when using the general encode method (that takes a byte buffer as one of the inputs)

However, the method in question (in this discussion) is a variant of encode - encode(CharBuffer in). This is a convenience method that implements the entire encoding operation. (Please see java docs reference in P.S.)

As per the docs, This method should therefore not be invoked if an encoding operation is already in progress (which is what is happening in ZenBlender's code -- using static encoder/decoder in a multi threaded environment).

Personally, I like to use convenience methods (over the more general encode/decode methods) as they take away the burden by performing all the steps under the covers.

ZenBlender and Adamski have already suggested multiple ways options to safely do this in their comments. Listing them all here:

• Create a new encoder/decoder object when needed for each operation (not efficient as it could lead to a large number of objects). OR,
• Use a ThreadLocal to avoid creating new encoder/decoder for each operation. OR,
• Synchronize the entire encoding/decoding operation (this might not be preferred unless sacrificing some concurrency is ok for your program)

For a virtual function you need to provide implementation in the base class. However derived class can override this implementation with its own implementation. Normally , for pure virtual functions implementation is not provided. You can make a function pure virtual with =0 at the end of function declaration. Also, a class containing a pure virtual function is abstract i.e. you can not create a object of this class.

Keep in mind that there are processes on the database which may not currently support a session.

after some test: If you send an email to an outlook client, and the subject is >77 chars, and it needs to use "=?ISO" inside the subject (in my case because of accents) then OutLook will "cut" the subject in the middle of it and mesh it all that comes after, including body text, attaches, etc... all a mesh!

I have several examples like this one:

As you see, in the subject line it cutted on char 78 with a "=" followed by 2 or 3 line feeds, then continued with the rest of the subject baddly.

It was reported to me from several customers who all where using OutLook, other email clients deal with those subjects ok.

If you have no ISO on it, it doesn't hurt, but if you add it to your subject to be nice to RFC, then you get this surprise from OutLook. Bit if you don't add the ISOs, then iPhone email will not understand it(and attach files with names using such characters will not work on iPhones).

The imshow() function with parameters interpolation='nearest' and cmap='hot' should do what you want.

tl;dr: git diff <local branch> <remote branch>

When using git on the shell, I like to first orient myself by looking around. Here's a command to show all branches

$ git branch -a  # (or git branch --all) 
* my-branch
  master
  remotes/origin/some-branch
  remotes/origin/HEAD -> origin/master
  remotes/origin/my-branch
  remotes/origin/some-other-branch
  remotes/origin/master

Here I have two local branches (my-branch and master) and 4 remote (some-branch, some-other-branch, master, and my-branch).

Also, the asterisk next to my-branch signals the fact that I'm currently in that branch (you would also know that by using the command git status that would output: On branch my-branch.).

Note: the remote branches in the git bash shell are shown in red while the local ones are shown in green.

If you just want to show remote branches:

$ git branch -r # (or git branch --remotes)
  origin/some-branch
  origin/HEAD -> origin/master
  origin/my-branch
  origin/some-other-branch
  origin/master

To show just local branches you might be tempted to use git branch -l but that's a completely different command. To show local branches use git branch with no options

$ git branch
* my-branch 
  master

To complete a review of the basic branch options there's the --list that contrary to what you might expect is there to allow filtering. Use it with a pattern like this:

$ git branch --list 'my*'
* my-branch

You can also combine --list with the options -a and -r but make sure to adapt your pattern accordingly (remember: remote branches start with "remotes"). Example:

# this will show all branches (local & remote) that start with my
$ git branch --list 'my*' -a
* my-branch

# better: the pattern includes the remote
$ git branch --list '*my*' -a
* my-branch
  remotes/origin/my-branch

Now you can compare any two branches from all the available ones (you can also compare two locals or two remotes).

Here I'm comparing the local with the remote my-branch, they're synchronized so I don't get any output:

I can also compare the local my-branch to the remote master. Here I get some output because the remote my-branch hasn't been merged into the master branch.

Let's go over the basics: "Accessor" and "Mutator" are just fancy names fot a getter and a setter. A getter, "Accessor", returns a class's variable or its value. A setter, "Mutator", sets a class variable pointer or its value.

So first you need to set up a class with some variables to get/set:

But oh no! If you instantiate this class the default values for these variables will be meaningless. B.T.W. "instantiate" is a fancy word for doing:

How to turn a list into a dictionary using built-in functions only

We want to turn the following list into a dictionary using the odd entries (counting from 1) as keys mapped to their consecutive even entries.

l = ["a", "b", "c", "d", "e"]

dict()

To create a dictionary we can use the built in dict function for Mapping Types as per the manual the following methods are supported.

dict(one=1, two=2)
dict({'one': 1, 'two': 2})
dict(zip(('one', 'two'), (1, 2)))
dict([['two', 2], ['one', 1]])

The last option suggests that we supply a list of lists with 2 values or (key, value) tuples, so we want to turn our sequential list into:

l = [["a", "b"], ["c", "d"], ["e",]]

We are also introduced to the zip function, one of the built-in functions which the manual explains:

returns a list of tuples, where the i-th tuple contains the i-th element from each of the arguments

In other words if we can turn our list into two lists a, c, e and b, d then zip will do the rest.

slice notation

Slicings which we see used with Strings and also further on in the List section which mainly uses the range or short slice notation but this is what the long slice notation looks like and what we can accomplish with step:

>>> zip(['a', 'c', 'e'], ['b', 'd'])

Even though this is the simplest way to understand the mechanics involved there is a downside because slices are new list objects each time, as can be seen with this cloning example:

Even though b looks like a they are two separate objects now and this is why we prefer to use the grouper recipe instead.

Although the grouper is explained as part of the itertools module it works perfectly fine with the basic functions too.

Some serious voodoo right? =) But actually nothing more than a bit of syntax sugar for spice, the grouper recipe is accomplished by the following expression.

*[iter(l)]*2

Which more or less translates to two arguments of the same iterator wrapped in a list, if that makes any sense. Lets break it down to help shed some light.

zip for shortest

['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e']

>>> [l]*2
[['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e'], ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e']]

As you can see the addresses for the two iterators remain the same so we are working with the same iterator which zip then first gets a key from and then a value and a key and a value every time stepping the same iterator to accomplish what we did with the slices much more productively.

You would accomplish very much the same with the following which carries a smaller What the? factor perhaps.

>>> it = iter(l)     
>>> dict(zip(it, it))
{'a': 'b', 'c': 'd'}

What about the empty key e if you've noticed it has been missing from all the examples which is because zip picks the shortest of the two arguments, so what are we to do.

Well one solution might be adding an empty value to odd length lists, you may choose to use append and an if statement which would do the trick, albeit slightly boring, right?

>>> if len(l) % 2:
...     l.append("")

>>> l
['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', '']

>>> dict(zip(*[iter(l)]*2))
{'a': 'b', 'c': 'd', 'e': ''}

Now before you shrug away to go type from itertools import izip_longest you may be surprised to know it is not required, we can accomplish the same, even better IMHO, with the built in functions alone.

map for longest

I prefer to use the map() function instead of izip_longest() which not only uses shorter syntax doesn't require an import but it can assign an actual None empty value when required, automagically.

>>> l = ["a", "b", "c", "d", "e"]
>>> l
['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e']

>>> dict(map(None, *[iter(l)]*2))
{'a': 'b', 'c': 'd', 'e': None} 

Comparing performance of the two methods, as pointed out by KursedMetal, it is clear that the itertools module far outperforms the map function on large volumes, as a benchmark against 10 million records show.

You can using onAttach or if you do not want to put onAttach everywhere then you can put a method that returns ApplicationContext on the main App class :

A quick update to Michael's excellent answer above.

For Rails 4.0+ you need to put your sort in a block like this:

class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
  default_scope { order('created_at DESC') }
end

Notice that the order statement is placed in a block denoted by the curly braces.

They changed it because it was too easy to pass in something dynamic (like the current time). This removes the problem because the block is evaluated at runtime. If you don't use a block you'll get this error:

Support for calling #default_scope without a block is removed. For example instead of default_scope where(color: 'red'), please use default_scope { where(color: 'red') }. (Alternatively you can just redefine self.default_scope.)

As @Dan mentions in his comment below, you can do a more rubyish syntax like this:

class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
  default_scope { order(created_at: :desc) }
end

or with multiple columns:

class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
  default_scope { order({begin_date: :desc}, :name) }

Try this to give it access to the database dbTest:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbTest.* To 'user'@'hostname' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

If you are running the code/site accessing MySQL on the same machine, hostname would be localhost.

Now, the break down.

GRANT - This is the command used to create users and grant rights to databases, tables, etc.

ALL PRIVILEGES - This tells it the user will have all standard privileges. This does not include the privilege to use the GRANT command however.

dbtest.* - This instructions MySQL to apply these rights for use in the entire dbtest database. You can replace the * with specific table names or store routines if you wish.

TO 'user'@'hostname' - 'user' is the username of the user account you are creating. Note: You must have the single quotes in there. 'hostname' tells MySQL what hosts the user can connect from. If you only want it from the same machine, use localhost

IDENTIFIED BY 'password' - As you would have guessed, this sets the password for that user.

Using an iframe to "render" a PDF will not work on all browsers; it depends on how the browser handles PDF files. Some browsers (such as Firefox and Chrome) have a built-in PDF rendered which allows them to display the PDF inline where as some older browsers (perhaps older versions of IE attempt to download the file instead).

Instead, I recommend checking out PDFObject which is a Javascript library to embed PDFs in HTML files. It handles browser compatibility pretty well and will most likely work on IE8.

In your HTML, you could set up a div to display the PDFs:

With the latest versions of PowerShell, there is a new cmdlet, Test-NetConnection.

This cmdlet lets you, in effect, ping a port, like this:

And a common way to refer one commit of the last commit is as a relative path to the actual HEAD. You can reference previous commits as HEAD^ (in your example this will be 123abc) or HEAD^^ (456def in your example), etc ...

So the answer to your question is:

git diff HEAD^^ myfile

For me, I had to create 64 bit build configuration.

I too struggled with something similar. My guess is your actual problem is connecting to a SQL Express instance running on a different machine. The steps to do this can be summarized as follows:

1. Ensure SQL Express is configured for SQL Authentication as well as Windows Authentication (the default). You do this via SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) Server Properties/Security
2. In SSMS create a new login called "sqlUser", say, with a suitable password, "sql", say. Ensure this new login is set for SQL Authentication, not Windows Authentication. SSMS Server Security/Logins/Properties/General. Also ensure "Enforce password policy" is unchecked
3. Under Properties/Server Roles ensure this new user has the "sysadmin" role
4. In SQL Server Configuration Manager SSCM (search for SQLServerManagerxx.msc file in Windows\SysWOW64 if you can't find SSCM) under SQL Server Network Configuration/Protocols for SQLExpress make sure TCP/IP is enabled. You can disable Named Pipes if you want
5. Right-click protocol TCP/IP and on the IPAddresses tab, ensure every one of the IP addresses is set to Enabled Yes, and TCP Port 1433 (this is the default port for SQL Server)
6. In Windows Firewall (WF.msc) create two new Inbound Rules - one for SQL Server and another for SQL Browser Service. For SQL Server you need to open TCP Port 1433 (if you are using the default port for SQL Server) and very importantly for the SQL Browser Service you need to open UDP Port 1434. Name these two rules suitably in your firewall
7. Stop and restart the SQL Server Service using either SSCM or the Services.msc snap-in
8. In the Services.msc snap-in make sure SQL Browser Service Startup Type is Automatic and then start this service

ASCII - Software allocates only 8 bit byte in memory for a given character. It works well for English & adopted (loanwords like façade) characters as their corresponding decimal values falls below 128 in the decimal value. Example C program.

UTF-8 - Software allocates 1 to 4 variable 8 bit bytes for a given character. What does mean by variable here? Let us say you are sending the character 'A' through your HTML pages in the browser (HTML is UTF-8), the corresponding decimal value of A is 65, when you convert it into decimal it becomes 01000010. This requires only 1 bytes, 1 byte memory is allocated even for special adopted English characters like 'ç' in a word façade. However, when you want to store European characters, it requires 2 bytes, so you need UTF-8. However, when you go for Asian characters, you require minimum of 2 bytes and maximum of 4 bytes. Similarly, Emoji's require 3 to 4 bytes. UTF-8 will solve all your needs.

UTF-16 will allocate minimum 2 bytes and maximum of 4 bytes per character, it will not allocate 1 or 3 bytes. Each character is either represented in 16 bit or 32 bit.

Then why exists UTF-16? Originally, Unicode was 16 bit not 8 bit. Java adopted the original version of UTF-16.

In a nutshell, you don't need UTF-16 anywhere unless it has been already been adopted by the language or platform you are working on.

Java program invoked by web browsers uses UTF-16 but the web browser sends characters using UTF-8.

You close the second Scanner which closes the underlying InputStream, therefore the first Scanner can no longer read from the same InputStream and a NoSuchElementException results.

The solution: For console apps, use a single Scanner to read from System.in.

Aside: As stated already, be aware that Scanner#nextInt does not consume newline characters. Ensure that these are consumed before attempting to call nextLine again by using Scanner#newLine().

I was facing this issue too, I was receiving a 404 when accessing a URL pattern that I knew was linked to a Servlet. The reason is because I had 2 Servlets with their @WebServlet name parameter set as the same string.

My [silly] mistake was that i used app-debug.apk file instead of app-release.apk file. You need to to choose "release" in "Build Variants" frame when you generate signed APK. The app-release.apk file should be located under "app\release" folder in your project root.

You did the right thing by checking from query plans. But I have 100% confidence in version 2. It is faster when the number off records are on the very high side.

My database has around 1,000,000 records and this is exactly the scenario where the query plan shows the difference between both the queries. Further, instead of using a where clause, if you use it in the join itself, it makes the query faster :

Ensure you use the if (!IsPostBack) { } condition because if you load it every page refresh, it's actually destroying the data.

It could be due to the architecture of your OS. Is your OS 64 Bit and have you installed 64 bit version of Python? It may help to install both 32 bit version Python 3.1 and Pygame, which is available officially only in 32 bit and you won't face this problem.

I see that 64 bit pygame is maintained here, you might also want to try uninstalling Pygame only and install the 64 bit version on your existing python3.1, if not choose go for both 32-bit version.

For WAMPServer versions <= 2.5

By default Wampserver comes configured as securely as it can, so Apache is set to only allow access from the machine running wamp. Afterall it is supposed to be a development server and not a live server.

Also there was a little error released with WAMPServer 2.4 where it used the old Apache 2.2 syntax instead of the new Apache 2.4 syntax for access rights.

You need to change the security setting on Apache to allow access from anywhere else, so edit your httpd.conf file.

Change this section from :

To :

The Require local allows access from these ip's 127.0.0.1 & localhost & ::1.

The statement Require ip 192.168.0 will allow you to access the Apache server from any ip on your internal network. Also it will allow access using the server mechines actual ip address from the server machine, as you are trying to do.

WAMPServer 3 has a different method

In version 3 and > of WAMPServer there is a Virtual Hosts pre defined for localhost so you have to make the access privilage amendements in the Virtual Host definition config file

First dont amend the httpd.conf file at all, leave it as you found it.

Using the menus, edit the httpd-vhosts.conf file.

It should look like this :

If you need the width of something that's hidden and you can't un-hide it for whatever reason, you can clone it, change the CSS so it displays off the page, make it invisible, and then measure it. The user will be none the wiser if it's hidden and deleted afterwards.

Some of the other answers here just make the visibility hidden which works, but it will take up a blank spot on your page for a fraction of a second.

Using the Join is the best way to use a multi-value parameter. But what if you want to have an efficient 'Select All'? If there are 100s+ then the query will be very inefficient.

To solve this instead of using a SQL Query as is, change it to using an expression (click the Fx button top right) then build your query something like this (speech marks are necessary):

All that was wrong with the original question was that the minDate value being set should have been a string (don't forget the quotes):

You need to set the path to the headers in the project properties so the compiler looks there when trying to find the header file(s). I can't remember the exact location, but look though the Project properties and you should see it.

Your repository is corrupt. That means data is lost that cannot be recovered by git itself. If you have another clone of this repository, you can recover the objects from there, or make a new clone.

fatal: bad object HEAD means the branch referenced from HEAD is pointing to a bad commit object, which can mean it's missing or corrupt.

From the output of git fsck, you can see there are a few tree, blob and commit objects missing.

Note that using git itself is not enough to keep data safe. You still need to back it up in cases of corruption.

Now you can use: App.getContext() whenever you want to get a context, and then getResources() (or App.getContext().getResources()).

In C and C++ all names have to be declared before they are used. If you try to use the name of a variable or a function that hasn't been declared you will get an "undeclared identifier" error.

However, functions are a special case in C (and in C only) in that you don't have to declare them first. The C compiler will the assume the function exists with the number and type of arguments as in the call. If the actual function definition does not match that you will get another error. This special case for functions does not exist in C++.

You fix these kind of errors by making sure that functions and variables are declared before they are used. In the case of printf you need to include the header file <stdio.h> (or <cstdio> in C++).

For standard functions, I recommend you check e.g. this reference site, and search for the functions you want to use. The documentation for each function tells you what header file you need.

We can completely avoid using the slow Math.pow() and Math.log() methods without sacrificing simplicity since the factor between the units (for example, B, KB, MB, etc.) is 1024 which is 2^10. The Long class has a handy numberOfLeadingZeros() method which we can use to tell which unit the size value falls in.

Key point: Size units have a distance of 10 bits (1024 = 2^10) meaning the position of the highest one bit–or in other words the number of leading zeros–differ by 10 (Bytes = KB*1024, KB = MB*1024, etc.).

There's 3 satellites at least that you must be able to receive from of the 24-32 out there, and they each broadcast a time from a synchronized atomic clock. The differences in those times that you receive at any one time tell you how long the broadcast took to reach you, and thus where you are in relation to the satellites. So, it sort of reads from something, but it doesn't connect to that thing. Note that this doesn't tell you your orientation, many GPSes fake that (and speed) by interpolating data points.

If you don't count the cost of the receiver, it's a free service. Apparently there's higher resolution services out there that are restricted to military use. Those are likely a fixed cost for a license to decrypt the signals along with a confidentiality agreement.

Now your device may support GPS tracking, in which case it might communicate, say via GPRS, to a database which will store the location the device has found itself to be at, so that multiple devices may be tracked. That would require some kind of connection.

Maps are either stored on the device or received over a connection. Navigation is computed based on those maps' databases. These likely are a licensed item with a cost associated, though if you use a service like Google Maps they have the license with NAVTEQ and others.

C++03's categories are too restricted to capture the introduction of rvalue references correctly into expression attributes.

With the introduction of them, it was said that an unnamed rvalue reference evaluates to an rvalue, such that overload resolution would prefer rvalue reference bindings, which would make it select move constructors over copy constructors. But it was found that this causes problems all around, for example with Dynamic Types and with qualifications.

To show this, consider

On pre-xvalue drafts, this was allowed, because in C++03, rvalues of non-class types are never cv-qualified. But it is intended that const applies in the rvalue-reference case, because here we do refer to objects (= memory!), and dropping const from non-class rvalues is mainly for the reason that there is no object around.

The issue for dynamic types is of similar nature. In C++03, rvalues of class type have a known dynamic type - it's the static type of that expression. Because to have it another way, you need references or dereferences, which evaluate to an lvalue. That isn't true with unnamed rvalue references, yet they can show polymorphic behavior. So to solve it,

• unnamed rvalue references become xvalues. They can be qualified and potentially have their dynamic type different. They do, like intended, prefer rvalue references during overloading, and won't bind to non-const lvalue references.

• What previously was an rvalue (literals, objects created by casts to non-reference types) now becomes an prvalue. They have the same preference as xvalues during overloading.

• What previously was an lvalue stays an lvalue.

And two groupings are done to capture those that can be qualified and can have different dynamic types (glvalues) and those where overloading prefers rvalue reference binding (rvalues).

The solution I use for large sql restore is a mysqldumpsplitter script. I split my sql.gz into individual tables. then load up something like mysql workbench and process it as a restore to the desired schema.

Python does have a multiline string/comment syntax in the sense that unless used as docstrings, multiline strings generate no bytecode -- just like #-prepended comments. In effect, it acts exactly like a comment.

On the other hand, if you say this behavior must be documented in the official docs to be a true comment syntax, then yes, you would be right to say it is not guaranteed as part of the language specification.

In any case your editor should also be able to easily comment-out a selected region (by placing a # in front of each line individually). If not, switch to an editor that does.

Programming in Python without certain text editing features can be a painful experience. Finding the right editor (and knowing how to use it) can make a big difference in how the Python programming experience is perceived.

Not only should the editor be able to comment-out selected regions, it should also be able to shift blocks of code to the left and right easily, and should automatically place the cursor at the current indentation level when you press Enter. Code folding can also be useful.
