A blind person doesn't browse the web visually, but by sound such as text readers. <strong> and <em>, in addition to encouraging something to be bold or italic, also convey loudness or stressing syllables respectively (OH MY! & Ooooooh Myyyyyyy!). Using Custom Domains With IIS Express

The up-voted answer is valid.. and this information helped me quite a bit. I know this topic has been discussed before but I wanted to add some additional input. People are saying that you must "manually edit" the application.config file in the Users IISExpress/Config directory. This was a big issue for me because I wanted to distribute the configuration via Source control to various developers.

What I found is that you can automate the updating of this file using the "C:\Program Files\IIS Express\appcmd.exe" program. It took a while to find out the control parameters but Ill share my findings here. Essentially you can make a .bat file that runs both the NETSH command and the APPCMD.EXE (and perhaps swap out a host file if you like) to make host header configuration easy with IIS Express.

Your install bat file would look something like this:

netsh http add urlacl url=http://yourcustomdomain.com:80/ user=everyone 

"C:\Program Files\IIS Express\appcmd.exe" set site "MyApp.Web" /+bindings.[protocol='http',bindingInformation='*:80:yourcustomdomain.com']

I also will make a "Uninstall" bat file that will clean up these bindings..(because often times Im just faking out DNS so that I can work on code that is host name sensitive)

This helped in my case to delete different files with spaces. It should work too with mplayer. The necessary trick is the quotes. (Tested on Linux Xubuntu 14.04.)

By "camera position," it sounds like you want to adjust the elevation and the azimuth angle that you use to view the 3D plot. You can set this with ax.view_init. I've used the below script to first create the plot, then I determined a good elevation, or elev, from which to view my plot. I then adjusted the azimuth angle, or azim, to vary the full 360deg around my plot, saving the figure at each instance (and noting which azimuth angle as I saved the plot). For a more complicated camera pan, you can adjust both the elevation and angle to achieve the desired effect.

If by "restart", you mean to start a new 4 second interval at this moment, then you must stop and restart the timer.

HTML5 Video autoplay on iPhone

I had a similar problem and I tried multiple solution. I solved it implementing 2 considerations.

  1. Using dangerouslySetInnerHtml to embed the <video> code. For example:

Explanation:
Variable newData contains value that want to update in chart. Variable chart is an object of a chart. setData is a method provided by highchart to update data.

Cannot use mkdir in home directory: permission denied (Linux Lubuntu)

As @kirbyfan64sos notes in a comment, /home is NOT your home directory (a.k.a. home folder):

The fact that /home is an absolute, literal path that has no user-specific component provides a clue.

While /home happens to be the parent directory of all user-specific home directories on Linux-based systems, you shouldn't even rely on that, given that this differs across platforms: for instance, the equivalent directory on macOS is /Users.

What all Unix platforms DO have in common are the following ways to navigate to / refer to your home directory:

  • Using cd with NO argument changes to your home dir., i.e., makes your home dir. the working directory.
    • e.g.: cd # changes to home dir; e.g., '/home/jdoe'
  • Unquoted ~ by itself / unquoted ~/ at the start of a path string represents your home dir. / a path starting at your home dir.; this is referred to as tilde expansion (see man bash)
    • e.g.: echo ~ # outputs, e.g., '/home/jdoe'
  • $HOME - as part of either unquoted or preferably a double-quoted string - refers to your home dir. HOME is a predefined, user-specific environment variable:
    • e.g.: cd "$HOME/tmp" # changes to your personal folder for temp. files

Thus, to create the desired folder, you could use:

mkdir "$HOME/bin"  # same as: mkdir ~/bin

Note that most locations outside your home dir. require superuser (root user) privileges in order to create files or directories - that's why you ran into the Permission denied error.

Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 can be installed on windows 10 without having installation media. The file you need is called microsoft-windows-netfx3-ondemand-package.cab. Just google it and you will get the download links. After downloading it, copy that file to C:\dotnet35 and run the following command.

Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\dotnet35 /LimitAccess

Tested and worked in Windows 10 without any issue.

How to run a makefile in Windows?

Firstly, add path of visual studio common tools (c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\Tools) into the system path. To learn how to add a path into system path, please check this website: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm. You just need to this once.

After that, whenever you need, open a command line and execute vsvars32.bat to add all required visual studio tools' paths into the system path.

Then, you can call nmake -f makefile.mak

There is types.SimpleNamespace class in Python 3.3+:

Just finished writing my own parser. I tried to use various parser found here, none seems to work with both ksh93 (AIX) and bash (Linux).

It's old programming style - parsing line by line. Pretty fast since it used few external commands. A bit slower because of all the eval required for dynamic name of the array.

The ini support 3 special syntaxs:

  • includefile=ini file --> Load an additionnal ini file. Useful for splitting ini in multiple files, or re-use some piece of configuration
  • includedir=directory --> Same as includefile, but include a complete directory
  • includesection=section --> Copy an existing section to the current section.

I used all thoses syntax to have pretty complex, re-usable ini file. Useful to install products when installing a new OS - we do that a lot.

Values can be accessed with ${ini[$section.$item]}. The array MUST be defined before calling this.

Safari 3rd party cookie iframe trick no longer working?

Some context that I haven't seen clearly stated in the existing answers (and also a lot has changed since 2012!):

If you can control both the 3rd party iframe and the parent page (i.e. you are able to insert JavaScript on the parent page), then several workarounds are available. I would suggest the most elegant of these is making use of the postMessage API as described by @Frank's answer, as a) this does not require any redirects and b) does not require any user interactions.

If you do NOT control both the 3rd party iframe and the parent page, e.g. you have a widget hosted on a site you do not control, then most of the answers posted here will not work in Safari as of May 2020, and will stop working in Chrome around 2022. That is, unless a user has already visited your domain or interacts with the iframe, you are not able to set cookies. However, there are some commercial services offering solutions to solve this problem, such as CloudCookie.io

Is there a way to get the source code from an APK file?

Step 1: Make a new folder and copy over the .apk file that you want to decode.

Now rename the extension of this .apk file to .zip (e.g. rename from filename.apk to filename.zip) and save it. Now you can access the classes.dex files, etc. At this stage you are able to see drawables but not xml and java files, so continue.

Step 2: Now extract this .zip file in the same folder (or NEW FOLDER).

How to deploy correctly when using Composer's develop / production switch?

Now require-dev is enabled by default, for local development you can do composer install and composer update without the --dev option.

When you want to deploy to production, you'll need to make sure composer.lock doesn't have any packages that came from require-dev.

You can do this with

composer update --no-dev

Once you've tested locally with --no-dev you can deploy everything to production and install based on the composer.lock. You need the --no-dev option again here, otherwise composer will say "The lock file does not contain require-dev information".

composer install --no-dev

Note: Be careful with anything that has the potential to introduce differences between dev and production! I generally try to avoid require-dev wherever possible, as including dev tools isn't a big overhead.

My experience when using Dapper to connect to MySQL is that it does matter. I changed a non nullable bit(1) to a nullable tinyint(1) by using the following script:

Then Dapper started throwing Exceptions. I tried to look at the difference before and after the script. And noticed the bit(1) had changed to tinyint(1).

I then ran:

ALTER TABLE TableName CHANGE COLUMN Setting Setting BIT(1) NULL DEFAULT NULL;

Which solved the problem.

jQuery Validation plugin: validate check box

You had several issues with your code.

1) Missing a closing brace, }, within your rules.

2) In this case, there is no reason to use a function for the required rule. By default, the plugin can handle checkbox and radio inputs just fine, so using true is enough. However, this will simply do the same logic as in your original function and verify that at least one is checked.

3) If you also want only a maximum of two to be checked, then you'll need to apply the maxlength rule.

4) The messages option was missing the rule specification. It will work, but the one custom message would apply to all rules on the same field.

5) If a name attribute contains brackets, you must enclose it within quotes.

Difference between Parameters.Add(string, object) and Parameters.AddWithValue

Without explicitly providing the type as in command.Parameters.Add("@ID", SqlDbType.Int);, it will try to implicitly convert the input to what it is expecting.

The downside of this, is that the implicit conversion may not be the most optimal of conversions and may cause a performance hit.

Having a smaller buffer size would be helpful in copying tiny files. Even "char buffer[2]" would do the job.

You can't use @android:style/TextAppearance as the parent for the whole app's theme; that's why koopaking3's solution seems quite broken.

To change default text colour everywhere in your app using a custom theme, try something like this. Works at least on Android 4.0+ (API level 14+).

Yes, basically what you done is right, except you forget that JavaScript is sync in many cases, so you running the code before your DOM gets loaded, there are few ways to solve this:

1) Check to see if DOM fully loaded, then do whatever you want, you can listen to DOMContentLoaded for example:

How to declare a variable in a PostgreSQL query

This solution is based on the one proposed by fei0x but it has the advantages that there is no need to join the value list of constants in the query and constants can be easily listed at the start of the query. It also works in recursive queries.

I had installed CUDA 10.1 and CUDNN 7.6 by mistake. You can use following configurations (This worked for me - as of 9/10). :

  • Tensorflow-gpu == 1.14.0
  • CUDA 10.1

  • Ubuntu 18.04

But I had to create symlinks for it to work as tensorflow originally works with CUDA 10.

Getting DOM node from React child element

This may be possible by using the refs attribute.

In the example of wanting to to reach a <div> what you would want to do is use is <div ref="myExample">. Then you would be able to get that DOM node by using React.findDOMNode(this.refs.myExample).

From there getting the correct DOM node of each child may be as simple as mapping over this.refs.myExample.children(I haven't tested that yet) but you'll at least be able to grab any specific mounted child node by using the ref attribute.

Avoid the old date-time classes such as java.util.Date/.Calendar. They have proven to be poorly designed, confusing, and troublesome.

The java.time framework comes built into Java 8 and later. Much of the functionality is backported to Java 6 & 7 and further adapted to Android. Made by the some of the same folks as had made Joda-Time.

An Instant is a moment on the timeline in UTC with a resolution of nanoseconds. Its epoch is first moment of 1970 in UTC.

Actually, all of those examples on the web wherein the common content/file type like "js", "css", "img", etc is been used as library name are misleading.

Real world examples

To start, let's look at how existing JSF implementations like Mojarra and MyFaces and JSF component libraries like PrimeFaces and OmniFaces use it. No one of them use resource libraries this way. They use it (under the covers, by @ResourceDependency or UIViewRoot#addComponentResource()) the following way:

This way it's so much easier to specify and distinguish where those resources belong to and/or are coming from. Imagine that you happen to have a primefaces.css resource in your own webapp wherein you're overriding/finetuning some default CSS of PrimeFaces; if PrimeFaces didn't use a library name for its own primefaces.css, then the PrimeFaces own one wouldn't be loaded, but instead the webapp-supplied one, which would break the look'n'feel.

Also, when you're using a custom ResourceHandler, you can also apply more finer grained control over resources coming from a specific library when library is used the right way. If all component libraries would have used "js" for all their JS files, how would the ResourceHandler ever distinguish if it's coming from a specific component library? Examples are OmniFaces CombinedResourceHandler and GraphicResourceHandler; check the createResource() method wherein the library is checked before delegating to next resource handler in chain. This way they know when to create CombinedResource or GraphicResource for the purpose.

Noted should be that RichFaces did it wrong. It didn't use any library at all and homebrewed another resource handling layer over it and it's therefore impossible to programmatically identify RichFaces resources. That's exactly the reason why OmniFaces CombinedResourceHander had to introduce a reflection-based hack in order to get it to work anyway with RichFaces resources.

Your own webapp

Your own webapp does not necessarily need a resource library. You'd best just omit it.

I was getting the same error while trying to load simply HTML files that used JSON data to populate the page, so I used used node.js and express to solve the problem. If you do not have node installed, you need to install node first.

  1. Install express npm install express

  2. Create a server.js file in the root folder of your project, in my case one folder above the files I wanted to server

  3. Put something like the following in the server.js file and read about this on the express gihub site:

To pass a string to the view as the Model, you can do:

  • Restrict the files being copied i.e. instead of xcopy $(TargetDir)*.*"... instead do xcopy "$(TargetDir)$(TargetName).*"...

  • Catch the error and retry i.e:

  • Use robocopy instead of xcopy

How do I perform query filtering in django templates

I run into this problem on a regular basis and often use the "add a method" solution. However, there are definitely cases where "add a method" or "compute it in the view" don't work (or don't work well). E.g. when you are caching template fragments and need some non-trivial DB computation to produce it. You don't want to do the DB work unless you need to, but you won't know if you need to until you are deep in the template logic.

Some other possible solutions:

  1. Use the {% expr <expression> as <var_name> %} template tag found at http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/9/ The expression is any legal Python expression with your template's Context as your local scope.

  2. Change your template processor. Jinja2 (http://jinja.pocoo.org/2/) has syntax that is almost identical to the Django template language, but with full Python power available. It's also faster. You can do this wholesale, or you might limit its use to templates that you are working on, but use Django's "safer" templates for designer-maintained pages.

With Git version 1.7.9 and later

Since Git 1.7.9 (released in late January 2012), there is a neat mechanism in Git to avoid having to type your password all the time for HTTP / HTTPS, called credential helpers. (Thanks to dazonic for pointing out this new feature in the comments below.)

With Git 1.7.9 or later, you can just use one of the following credential helpers:

git config --global credential.helper cache

... which tells Git to keep your password cached in memory for (by default) 15 minutes. You can set a longer timeout with:

git config --global credential.helper "cache --timeout=3600"

(That example was suggested in the GitHub help page for Linux.) You can also store your credentials permanently if so desired, see the other answers below.

GitHub's help also suggests that if you're on Mac OS X and used Homebrew to install Git, you can use the native Mac OS X keystore with:

With versions of Git before 1.7.9, this more secure option is not available, and you'll need to change the URL that your origin remote uses to include the password in this fashion:

... in other words with :password after the username and before the @.

You can set a new URL for your origin remote with:

git config remote.origin.url https://you:[email protected]/you/example.git

Make sure that you use https, and you should be aware that if you do this, your GitHub password will be stored in plaintext in your .git directory, which is obviously undesirable.

With any Git version (well, since version 0.99)

An alternative approach is to put your username and password in your ~/.netrc file, although, as with keeping the password in the remote URL, this means that your password will be stored on the disk in plain text and is thus less secure and not recommended. However, if you want to take this approach, add the following line to your ~/.netrc:

... replacing <hostname> with the server's hostname, and <username> and <password> with your username and password. Also remember to set restrictive file system permissions on that file:

You could declare properties on an object/associative array as Pointy mentioned, but really for this sort of thing you should use an array with the push method:

The accepted answer correctly describes how the list should be declared and is highly recommended for most scenarios.

But I came across a different scenario, which also covers the question asked. What if you have to use an existing object list, like ViewData["htmlAttributes"] in MVC? How can you access its properties (they are usually created via new { @style="width: 100px", ... })?

For this slightly different scenario I want to share with you what I found out. In the solutions below, I am assuming the following declaration for nodes:

1. Solution with dynamic

In C# 4.0 and higher versions, you can simply cast to dynamic and write:

2. Solution with reflection

As a starting point, I found a good answer here. The idea is to convert the anonymous data type into a dictionary by using reflection. The dictionary makes it easy to access the properties, since their names are stored as keys (you can access them like myDict["myProperty"]).

Inspired by the code in the link above, I created an extension class providing GetProp, UnanonymizeProperties and UnanonymizeListItems as extension methods, which simplify access to anonymous properties. With this class you can simply do the query as follows:

Note: If you have a list of objects which don't necessarily contain all properties (for example, some do not contain the "Checked" property), and you still want to build up a query based on "Checked" values, you can do this:

The class below contains the following extension methods:

  • UnanonymizeProperties: Is used to de-anonymize the properties contained in an object. This method uses reflection. It converts the object into a dictionary containing the properties and its values.
  • UnanonymizeListItems: Is used to convert a list of objects into a list of dictionaries containing the properties. It may optionally contain a lambda expression to filter beforehand.
  • GetProp: Is used to return a single value matching the given property name. Allows to treat not-existing properties as null values (true) rather than as KeyNotFoundException (false)

For the examples above, all that is required is that you add the extension class below:

Hint: The code above is using the null-conditional operators, available since C# version 6.0 - if you're working with older C# compilers (e.g. C# 3.0), simply replace ?. by . and ?[ by [ everywhere (and do the null-handling traditionally by using if statements or catch NullReferenceExceptions), e.g.

As you can see, the null-handling without the null-conditional operators would be cumbersome here, because everywhere you removed them you have to add a null check - or use catch statements where it is not so easy to find the root cause of the exception resulting in much more - and hard to read - code.

If you're not forced to use an older C# compiler, keep it as is, because using null-conditionals makes null handling much easier.

Note: Like the other solution with dynamic, this solution is also using late binding, but in this case you're not getting an exception - it will simply not find the element if you're referring to a non-existing property, as long as you keep the null-conditional operators.

What might be useful for some applications is that the property is referred to via a string in solution 2, hence it can be parameterized.

The problem is your query returned false meaning there was an error in your query. After your query you could do the following:

One way is to add it by yourself! How? By merging kwargs with a bunch of defaults. This won't be appropriate on all occasions, for example, if the keys are not known to you in advance. However, if they are, here is a simple example:

How does GPS in a mobile phone work exactly?

There's 3 satellites at least that you must be able to receive from of the 24-32 out there, and they each broadcast a time from a synchronized atomic clock. The differences in those times that you receive at any one time tell you how long the broadcast took to reach you, and thus where you are in relation to the satellites. So, it sort of reads from something, but it doesn't connect to that thing. Note that this doesn't tell you your orientation, many GPSes fake that (and speed) by interpolating data points.

If you don't count the cost of the receiver, it's a free service. Apparently there's higher resolution services out there that are restricted to military use. Those are likely a fixed cost for a license to decrypt the signals along with a confidentiality agreement.

Now your device may support GPS tracking, in which case it might communicate, say via GPRS, to a database which will store the location the device has found itself to be at, so that multiple devices may be tracked. That would require some kind of connection.

Maps are either stored on the device or received over a connection. Navigation is computed based on those maps' databases. These likely are a licensed item with a cost associated, though if you use a service like Google Maps they have the license with NAVTEQ and others.

let vs var. It's all about scope.

var variables are global and can be accessed basically everywhere, while let variables are not global and only exist until a closing parenthesis kills them.
