map doesn't relate to a Cartesian product at all, although I imagine someone well versed in functional programming could come up with some impossible to understand way of generating a one using map.

map in Python 3 is equivalent to this:

The golden spiral method

You said you couldn’t get the golden spiral method to work and that’s a shame because it’s really, really good. I would like to give you a complete understanding of it so that maybe you can understand how to keep this away from being “bunched up.”

So here’s a fast, non-random way to create a lattice that is approximately correct; as discussed above, no lattice will be perfect, but this may be good enough. It is compared to other methods e.g. at BendWavy.org but it just has a nice and pretty look as well as a guarantee about even spacing in the limit.

Primer: sunflower spirals on the unit disk

To understand this algorithm, I first invite you to look at the 2D sunflower spiral algorithm. This is based on the fact that the most irrational number is the golden ratio (1 + sqrt(5))/2 and if one emits points by the approach “stand at the center, turn a golden ratio of whole turns, then emit another point in that direction,” one naturally constructs a spiral which, as you get to higher and higher numbers of points, nevertheless refuses to have well-defined ‘bars’ that the points line up on.^{(Note 1.)}

The algorithm for even spacing on a disk is,

Spacing the points radially

The key strange thing is the formula r = sqrt(indices / num_pts); how did I come to that one? ^{(Note 2.)}

Well, I am using the square root here because I want these to have even-area spacing around the disk. That is the same as saying that in the limit of large N I want a little region R ? (r, r + dr), T ? (?, ? + d?) to contain a number of points proportional to its area, which is r dr d?. Now if we pretend that we are talking about a random variable here, this has a straightforward interpretation as saying that the joint probability density for (R, T) is just c r for some constant c. Normalization on the unit disk would then force c = 1/p.

Now let me introduce a trick. It comes from probability theory where it’s known as sampling the inverse CDF: suppose you wanted to generate a random variable with a probability density f(z) and you have a random variable U ~ Uniform(0, 1), just like comes out of random() in most programming languages. How do you do this?

1. First, turn your density into a cumulative distribution function or CDF, which we will call F(z). A CDF, remember, increases monotonically from 0 to 1 with derivative f(z).
2. Then calculate the CDF’s inverse function F^-1(z).
3. You will find that Z = F^-1(U) is distributed according to the target density. ^{(Note 3).}

Now the golden-ratio spiral trick spaces the points out in a nicely even pattern for ? so let’s integrate that out; for the unit disk we are left with F(r) = r². So the inverse function is F^-1(u) = u^1/2, and therefore we would generate random points on the disk in polar coordinates with r = sqrt(random()); theta = 2 * pi * random().

Now instead of randomly sampling this inverse function we’re uniformly sampling it, and the nice thing about uniform sampling is that our results about how points are spread out in the limit of large N will behave as if we had randomly sampled it. This combination is the trick. Instead of random() we use (arange(0, num_pts, dtype=float) + 0.5)/num_pts, so that, say, if we want to sample 10 points they are r = 0.05, 0.15, 0.25, ... 0.95. We uniformly sample r to get equal-area spacing, and we use the sunflower increment to avoid awful “bars” of points in the output.

Now doing the sunflower on a sphere

The changes that we need to make to dot the sphere with points merely involve switching out the polar coordinates for spherical coordinates. The radial coordinate of course doesn't enter into this because we're on a unit sphere. To keep things a little more consistent here, even though I was trained as a physicist I'll use mathematicians' coordinates where 0 = f = p is latitude coming down from the pole and 0 = ? = 2p is longitude. So the difference from above is that we are basically replacing the variable r with f.

Our area element, which was r dr d?, now becomes the not-much-more-complicated sin(f) df d?. So our joint density for uniform spacing is sin(f)/4p. Integrating out ?, we find f(f) = sin(f)/2, thus F(f) = (1 - cos(f))/2. Inverting this we can see that a uniform random variable would look like acos(1 - 2 u), but we sample uniformly instead of randomly, so we instead use f_k = acos(1 - 2 (k + 0.5)/N). And the rest of the algorithm is just projecting this onto the x, y, and z coordinates:

I wanted to give a shout out to Martin Roberts’s blog. Note that above I created an offset of my indices by adding 0.5 to each index. This was just visually appealing to me, but it turns out that the choice of offset matters a lot and is not constant over the interval and can mean getting as much as 8% better accuracy in packing if chosen correctly. There should also be a way to get his R₂ sequence to cover a sphere and it would be interesting to see if this also produced a nice even covering, perhaps as-is but perhaps needing to be, say, taken from only a half of the unit square cut diagonally or so and stretched around to get a circle.

Notes

1. Those “bars” are formed by rational approximations to a number, and the best rational approximations to a number come from its continued fraction expression, z + 1/(n_1 + 1/(n_2 + 1/(n_3 + ...))) where z is an integer and n_1, n_2, n_3, ... is either a finite or infinite sequence of positive integers:

   Since the fraction part 1/(...) is always between zero and one, a large integer in the continued fraction allows for a particularly good rational approximation: “one divided by something between 100 and 101” is better than “one divided by something between 1 and 2.” The most irrational number is therefore the one which is 1 + 1/(1 + 1/(1 + ...)) and has no particularly good rational approximations; one can solve f = 1 + 1/f by multiplying through by f to get the formula for the golden ratio.

2. For folks who are not so familiar with NumPy -- all of the functions are “vectorized,” so that sqrt(array) is the same as what other languages might write map(sqrt, array). So this is a component-by-component sqrt application. The same also holds for division by a scalar or addition with scalars -- those apply to all components in parallel.

3. The proof is simple once you know that this is the result. If you ask what's the probability that z < Z < z + dz, this is the same as asking what's the probability that z < F^-1(U) < z + dz, apply F to all three expressions noting that it is a monotonically increasing function, hence F(z) < U < F(z + dz), expand the right hand side out to find F(z) + f(z) dz, and since U is uniform this probability is just f(z) dz as promised.

How are you doing the compiling and linking? You'll need to specify both files, something like:

gcc testpoint.c point.c

...so that it knows to link the functions from both together. With the code as it's written right now, however, you'll then run into the opposite problem: multiple definitions of main. You'll need/want to eliminate one (undoubtedly the one in point.c).

In a larger program, you typically compile and link separately to avoid re-compiling anything that hasn't changed. You normally specify what needs to be done via a makefile, and use make to do the work. In this case you'd have something like this:

OBJS=testpoint.o point.o

testpoint.exe: $(OBJS)
    gcc $(OJBS)

The first is just a macro for the names of the object files. You get it expanded with $(OBJS). The second is a rule to tell make 1) that the executable depends on the object files, and 2) telling it how to create the executable when/if it's out of date compared to an object file.

Most versions of make (including the one in MinGW I'm pretty sure) have a built-in "implicit rule" to tell them how to create an object file from a C source file. It normally looks roughly like this:

    $(CC) -c $(CFLAGS) $<

This assumes the name of the C compiler is in a macro named CC (implicitly defined like CC=gcc) and allows you to specify any flags you care about in a macro named CFLAGS (e.g., CFLAGS=-O3 to turn on optimization) and $< is a special macro that expands to the name of the source file.

You typically store this in a file named Makefile, and to build your program, you just type make at the command line. It implicitly looks for a file named Makefile, and runs whatever rules it contains.

The good point of this is that make automatically looks at the timestamps on the files, so it will only re-compile the files that have changed since the last time you compiled them (i.e., files where the ".c" file has a more recent time-stamp than the matching ".o" file).

Also note that 1) there are lots of variations in how to use make when it comes to large projects, and 2) there are also lots of alternatives to make. I've only hit on the bare minimum of high points here.

I don't try to answer all of my questions, as I believe it is too broad. Just a couple of notes:

there are cases when object construction is a task complex enough to justify its extraction to another class.

That class is in fact a Builder, rather than a Factory.

In the general case, I don't want to force the users of the factory to be restrained to dynamic allocation.

Then you could have your factory encapsulate it in a smart pointer. I believe this way you can have your cake and eat it too.

This also eliminates the issues related to return-by-value.

Conclusion: Making a factory by returning an object is indeed a solution for some cases (such as the 2-D vector previously mentioned), but still not a general replacement for constructors.

Indeed. All design patterns have their (language specific) constraints and drawbacks. It is recommended to use them only when they help you solve your problem, not for their own sake.

If you are after the "perfect" factory implementation, well, good luck.

That is exactly how you do it in C#, but the feature was first added in .NET 4.0

You can't get the number of rows returned in a ResultSet without iterating through it. And why would you return a ResultSet without iterating through it? There'd be no point in executing the query in the first place.

A better solution would be to separate persistence from view. Create a separate Data Access Object that handles all the database queries for you. Let it get the values to be displayed in the JTable, load them into a data structure, and then return it to the UI for display. The UI will have all the information it needs then.

I was unable to find any definitive documentation on valid date formats so I wrote my own test to see what is supported in various browsers.

Interestingly, when using month names I discovered that only the first 3 characters of the month name are ever used so all the of the following are perfectly valid:

A few miscellaneous thoughts on this topic:

1. There is nothing unsafe about any of the hash iterators themselves. What is unsafe is modifying the keys of a hash while you're iterating over it. (It's perfectly safe to modify the values.) The only potential side-effect I can think of is that values returns aliases which means that modifying them will modify the contents of the hash. This is by design but may not be what you want in some circumstances.
2. John's accepted answer is good with one exception: the documentation is clear that it is not safe to add keys while iterating over a hash. It may work for some data sets but will fail for others depending on the hash order.
3. As already noted, it is safe to delete the last key returned by each. This is not true for keys as each is an iterator while keys returns a list.

It's a common problem when you have two floats inside a block. The best way of fixing it is using clear:both after the second div.

As the plural in getElementsByName() implies, does it always return list of elements that have this name. So when you have an input element with that name:

And it is the first one with that name, you have to use document.getElementsByName('Tue')[0] to get the first element of the list of elements with this name.

Beside that are properties case sensitive and the correct spelling of the value property is .value.

None of these worked for me when I deployed my website online on shared hosting, below is what I did that worked.

In the .env file, I changed

The way to get the current location object is window.location.

Compare this to document.location, which originally only returned the current URL as a string. Probably to avoid confusion, document.location was replaced with document.URL.

4.Note the red triangle in the top-right of the Animation Frame Fired event. Whenever you see a red triangle, it's a warning that there may be an issue related to this event.

Make sure that the location is set to something beyond or below the screen's dimensions. Later, when you want to show the form, set the Location to something within the screen's dimensions.

To clear things up a little, since some of the answers are providing incorrect information:

The jQuery .css() method allows the use of either DOM or CSS notation in many cases. So, both backgroundColor and background-color will get the job done.

Additionally, when you call .css() with arguments you have two choices as to what the arguments can be. They can either be 2 comma separated strings representing a css property and its value, or it can be a Javascript object containing one or more key value pairs of CSS properties and values.

In conclusion the only thing wrong with your code is a missing }. The line should read:

$("#myParagraph").css({"backgroundColor":"black","color":"white"});

You cannot leave the curly brackets out, but you may leave the quotes out from around backgroundColor and color. If you use background-color you must put quotes around it because of the hyphen.

In general, it's a good habit to quote your Javascript objects, since problems can arise if you do not quote an existing keyword.

A final note is that about the jQuery .ready() method

$(handler);

is synonymous with:

$(document).ready(handler);

as well as with a third not recommended form.

This means that $(init) is completely correct, since init is the handler in that instance. So, init will be fired when the DOM is constructed.

Here is another example on how to use HttpClient to upload a multipart/form-data.

It uploads a file to a REST API and includes the file itself (e.g. a JPG) and additional API parameters. The file is directly uploaded from local disk via FileStream.

Why don't you simply use the MouseDown-Event of the text box? It works fine for me and doesn't need an additional boolean. Very clean and simple, eg.:

As of PHP 5.3.0 we have anonymous functions support that can create closures. A closure can access the variable which is created outside of its scope.

In the example, the closure is able to access $data because it was declared in the use clause.

Materialized views are disk based and are updated periodically based upon the query definition.

Views are virtual only and run the query definition each time they are accessed.

Parsing JSON is painful in a shell script. With a more appropriate language, create a tool that extracts JSON attributes in a way consistent with shell scripting conventions. You can use your new tool to solve the immediate shell scripting problem and then add it to your kit for future situations.

For example, consider a tool jsonlookup such that if I say jsonlookup access token id it will return the attribute id defined within the attribute token defined within the attribute access from stdin, which is presumably JSON data. If the attribute doesn't exist, the tool returns nothing (exit status 1). If the parsing fails, exit status 2 and a message to stderr. If the lookup succeeds, the tool prints the attribute's value.

Having created a unix tool for the precise purpose of extracting JSON values you can easily use it in shell scripts:

I used ProcessBuilder but had the same issue. The issue was with using command as one String line (like I would type it in cmd) instead of String array. In example from above. If I ran

You cannot start a container from a Dockerfile.

The process goes like this:

Dockerfile =[docker build]=> Docker image =[docker run]=> Docker container

To start (or run) a container you need an image. To create an image you need to build the Dockerfile[1].

You should never write code that concatenates SQL and parameters as string - this opens up your code to SQL injection which is a really serious security problem.

In the %run magic documentation you can find:

-i run the file in IPython’s namespace instead of an empty one. This is useful if you are experimenting with code written in a text editor which depends on variables defined interactively.

Therefore, supplying -i does the trick:

The "correct" way to do it

Maybe the command above is just what you need, but with all the attention this question gets, I decided to add a few more cents to it for those who don't know how a more pythonic way would look like.
The solution above is a little hacky, and makes the code in the other file confusing (Where does this x variable come from? and what is the f function?).

I'd like to show you how to do it without actually having to execute the other file over and over again.
Just turn it into a module with its own functions and classes and then import it from your Jupyter notebook or console. This also has the advantage of making it easily reusable and jupyters contextassistant can help you with autocompletion or show you the docstring if you wrote one.
If you're constantly editing the other file, then autoreload comes to your help.

Edit: Prior versions of this answer called System.setOut(null) after the tests; This is the cause of NullPointerExceptions commenters refer to.

It means your Class reference can hold a reference to any Class object.

It's basically the same as "Class" but you're showing other people who read your code that you didn't forget about generics, you just want a reference that can hold any Class object.

Bruce Eckel, Thinking in Java:

In Java SE5, Class<?> is preferred over plain Class, even though they are equivalent and the plain Class, as you saw, doesn’t produce a compiler warning. The benefit of Class<?> is that it indicates that you aren’t just using a non-specific class reference by accident, or out of ignorance. You chose the non-specific version.

Simply use title in tag like

This will show 'Edit Mode' when hover that icon.

I faced this exception for a long time and was not able to pinpoint the problem. The exception says line 1 column 9. The mistake I did is to get the first line of the file which flume is processing.

Apache flume process the content of the file in patches. So, when flume throws this exception and says line 1, it means the first line in the current patch.

If your flume agent is configured to use batch size = 100, and (for example) the file contains 400 lines, this means the exception is thrown in one of the following lines 1, 101, 201,301.

How to discover the line which causes the problem?

You have three ways to do that.

1- pull the source code and run the agent in debug mode. If you are an average developer like me and do not know how to make this, check the other two options.

2- Try to split the file based on the batch size and run the flume agent again. If you split the file into 4 files, and the invalid json exists between lines 301 and 400, the flume agent will process the first 3 files and stop at the fourth file. Take the fourth file and again split it into more smaller files. continue the process until you reach a file with only one line and flume fails while processing it.

3- Reduce the batch size of the flume agent to only one and compare the number of processed events in the output of the sink you are using. For example, in my case I am using Solr sink. The file contains 400 lines. The flume agent is configured with batch size=100. When I run the flume agent, it fails at some point and throw that exception. At this point check how many documents are ingested in Solr. If the invalid json exists at line 346, the number of documents indexed into Solr will be 345, so the next line is the line which causes the problem.

In my case I followed the third option and fortunately I pinpoint the line which causes the problem.

This is a long answer but it actually does not solve the exception. How I overcome this exception?

I have no idea why Jackson library complain while parsing a json string contains escaped characters \n \r \t. I think (but I am not sure) the Jackson parser is by default escaping these characters which cases the json string to be split into two lines (in case of \n) and then it deals each line as a separate json string.

In my case we used a customized interceptor to remove these characters before being processed by the flume agent. This is the way we solved this problem.

You can simplify it like this:

If you can use a helper column, you can use the MATCH function to test if a value in one column exists in another column (or in another column on another worksheet). It will return an Error if there is no match

To simply identify duplicates, use a helper column

Assume data in Sheet1, Column A, and another list in Sheet2, Column A. In your helper column, row 1, place the following formula:

Drag/copy this forumla down, and it should identify the duplicates.

To highlight cells, use conditional formatting:

With some tinkering, you can use this MATCH function in a Conditional Formatting rule which would highlight duplicate values. I would probably do this instead of using a helper column, although the helper column is a great way to "see" results before you make the conditional formatting rule.

Something like:

For Excel 2007 and prior, you cannot use conditional formatting rules that reference other worksheets. In this case, use the helper column and set your formatting rule in column A like:

I would like to give you a background on Universal CRT this would help you in understanding as to why the system should be updated before installing vc_redist.x64.exe.

1. A large portion of the C-runtime moved into the OS in Windows 10 (ucrtbase.dll) and is serviced just like any other OS DLL (e.g. kernel32.dll). It is no longer serviced by Visual Studio directly. MSU packages are the file type for Windows Updates.
2. In order to get the Windows 10 Universal CRT to earlier OSes, Windows Update packages were created to bring this OS component downlevel. KB2999226 brings the Windows 10 RTM Universal CRT to downlevel platforms (Windows Vista through Windows 8.1). KB3118401 brings Windows 10 November Update to the Universal CRT to downlevel platforms.
   • Windows XP (latest SP) is an exception here. Windows Servicing does not provide downlevel packages for that OS, so Visual Studio (Visual C++) provides a mechanism to install the UCRT into System32 via the VCRedist and MSMs.
3. The Windows Universal Runtime is included in the VC Redist exe package as it has dependency on the Windows Universal Runtime (KB2999226).
4. Windows 10 is the only OS that ships the UCRT in-box. All prior OSes obtain the UCRT via Windows Update only. This applies to all Vista->8.1 and associated Server SKUs.

For Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 the Windows Universal Runtime must be installed via KB2999226. However it has a prerequisite update KB2919355 which contains updates that facilitate installing the KB2999226 package.

Why does KB2999226 not always install when the runtime is installed from the redistributable? What could prevent KB2999226 from installing as part of the runtime?

The UCRT MSU included in the VCRedist is installed by making a call into the Windows Update service and the KB can fail to install based upon Windows Update service activity/state:

1. If the machine has not updated to the required servicing baseline, the UCRT MSU will be viewed as being “Not Applicable”. Ensure KB2919355 is installed. Also, there were known issues with KB2919355 so before this the following hotfix should be installed. KB2939087 KB2975061
2. If the Windows Update service is installing other updates when the VCRedist installs, you can either see long delays or errors indicating the machine is busy.
   • This one can be resolved by waiting and trying again later (which may be why installing via Windows Update UI at a later time succeeds).

3. If the Windows Update service is in a non-ready state, you can see errors reflecting that.

   • We recently investigated a failure with an error code indicating the WUSA service was shutting down.

4. To identify if the prerequisite KB2919355 is installed there are 2 options:

   1. Registry key: 64bit hive

If the capturing EventListener wishes to prevent further processing of the event from occurring it may call the stopPropagation method of the Event interface. This will prevent further dispatch of the event, although additional EventListeners registered at the same hierarchy level will still receive the event. Once an event's stopPropagation method has been called, further calls to that method have no additional effect. If no additional capturers exist and stopPropagation has not been called, the event triggers the appropriate EventListeners on the target itself.

For event bubbling:

Any event handler may choose to prevent further event propagation by calling the stopPropagation method of the Event interface. If any EventListener calls this method, all additional EventListeners on the current EventTarget will be triggered but bubbling will cease at that level. Only one call to stopPropagation is required to prevent further bubbling.

For event cancelation:

Cancelation is accomplished by calling the Event's preventDefault method. If one or more EventListeners call preventDefault during any phase of event flow the default action will be canceled.

One solution I have noticed isn't mentioned (unless I missed it, if I did please correct me), is the use of a class variable. Ran into this issue attempting to run a new thread within a method: new Thread(){ Do Something }.

Calling doSomething() from the following will work. You do not necessarily have to declare it final, just need to change the scope of the variable so it is not collected before the innerclass. This is unless of course your process is huge and changing the scope might create some sort of conflict. I didn't want to make my variable final as it was in no way a final/constant.

If you just wish to remove the zeros, leaving the non-zeros behind in a, then the very best solution is

a(a==0) = [];

This deletes the zero elements, using a logical indexing approach in MATLAB. When the index to a vector is a boolean vector of the same length as the vector, then MATLAB can use that boolean result to index it with. So this is equivalent to

a(find(a==0)) = [];

And, when you set some array elements to [] in MATLAB, the convention is to delete them.

If you want to put the zeros into a new result b, while leaving a unchanged, the best way is probably

b = a(a ~= 0);

Again, logical indexing is used here. You could have used the equivalent version (in terms of the result) of

b = a(find(a ~= 0));

but mlint will end up flagging the line as one where the purely logical index was more efficient, and thus more appropriate.

As always, beware EXACT tests for zero or for any number, if you would have accepted elements of a that were within some epsilonic tolerance of zero. Do those tests like this

b = a(abs(a) >= tol);

This retains only those elements of a that are at least as large as your tolerance.

The DocumentFragment acts as a light weight document object that can be used to collect elements. Once all your elements are ready, you can execute a single appendChild operation so that the DOM only updates once, instead of n times.

The Servlet 3.0 spec doesn't seem to provide a hint on how a container should order filters that have been declared via annotations. It is clear how about how to order filters via their declaration in the web.xml file, though.

Be safe. Use the web.xml file order filters that have interdependencies. Try to make your filters all order independent to minimize the need to use a web.xml file.

I was getting the same error in python 3.4.3 too and I tried using the solutions mentioned here and elsewhere with no success.

Microsoft makes a compiler available for Python 2.7 but it didn't do me much good since I am on 3.4.3.

Because previous versions gave a different error for vcvarsall.bat I would double check the version you are using with "pip -V"

Clean Solution and Build again In my case, whatever the previous settings were blocking due to mismatch. I imported a new project and build it, tried changing versions and all. clean the solutions and build worked for me.

Another simple solution is to add /usr/local/bin to your PATH. I had the same issue, I installed shell commands (see shaheenery's response) the symlinks already existed and pointing to the correct destination (see thomax's response), however I would still get 'not found'. I'm using Korn Shell btw.

Here's what I did:

1. Open your ~/.profile using your choice of editor (in my case $ emacs ~/.kshrc)
2. Add this line: export PATH="/usr/local/bin:${PATH}"
3. Save and exit
4. Restart terminal or source ~/.profile

Put the html and images on your own web server, switch original image to relative or absolute URL, change to an external image URL. Only the first two cases are working.

Working with VS 2013. Try the following

After following several articles, and requiring a function that would automatically scale the text and adjust the line count to best fit within the given label size, I wrote a function myself. OK so I created a static async method. That disabled the control that launches the action and changes the application cursor. It runs the action as a task and waits for to finish. Control returns to the caller while it waits. So the application remains responsive, even while the busy icon spins.

I had to use a separate logger for the dummy action (I am using Nlog) and my main logger is writing to the UI (a rich text box). I wasn't able to get the busy cursor show only when over a particular container on the form (but I didn't try very hard.) All controls have a UseWaitCursor property, but it doesn't seem have any effect on the controls I tried (maybe because they weren't on top?)

IEnumerable describes behavior, while List is an implementation of that behavior. When you use IEnumerable, you give the compiler a chance to defer work until later, possibly optimizing along the way. If you use ToList() you force the compiler to reify the results right away.

Whenever I'm "stacking" LINQ expressions, I use IEnumerable, because by only specifying the behavior I give LINQ a chance to defer evaluation and possibly optimize the program. Remember how LINQ doesn't generate the SQL to query the database until you enumerate it? Consider this:

So is it faster to use List over IEnumerable? Only if you want to prevent a query from being executed more than once. But is it better overall? Well in the above, Leopards and Hyenas get converted into single SQL queries each, and the database only returns the rows that are relevant. But if we had returned a List from AllSpotted(), then it may run slower because the database could return far more data than is actually needed, and we waste cycles doing the filtering in the client.

In a program, it may be better to defer converting your query to a list until the very end, so if I'm going to enumerate through Leopards and Hyenas more than once, I'd do this:

You need add parameter errors='coerce' to function to_numeric:

ID = pd.to_numeric(ID, errors='coerce')

If ID is column:

df.ID = pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce')

but non numeric are converted to NaN, so all values are float.

For int need convert NaN to some value e.g. 0 and then cast to int:

You use is (and is not) for singletons, like None, where you don't care about objects that might want to pretend to be None or where you want to protect against objects breaking when being compared against None.

To "automate" the process of importing the generated .sql file, while avoiding all the traps that can be hidden in trying to pass files through stdin and stdout, just tell MySQL to execute the generated .sql file using the SOURCE command in MySQL.

The syntax in the short, but excellent, answer, from Kshitij Sood, gives the best starting point. In short, modify the OP's command according to Kshitij Sood's syntax and replace the commands in that with the SOURCE command:

If the database name is included in the generated .sql file, it can be dropped from the command.

The presumption here is that the generated file is valid as an .sql file on its own. By not having the file redirected, piped, or in any other manner handled by the shell, there is no issue with needing to escape any of the characters in the generated output because of the shell. The rules with respect to what needs to be escaped in an .sql file, of course, still apply.

How to deal with the security issues around the password on the command line, or in a my.cnf file, etc., has been well addressed in other answers, with some excellent suggestions. My favorite answer, from Danny, covers that, including how to handle the issue when dealing with cron jobs, or anything else.

To address a comment (question?) on the short answer I mentioned: No, it cannot be used with a HEREDOC syntax, as that shell command is given. HEREDOC can be used in the redirection version syntax, (without the -Bse option), since I/O redirection is what HEREDOC is built around. If you need the functionality of HEREDOC, it would be better to use it in the creation of a .sql file, even if it's a temporary one, and use that file as the "command" to execute with the MySQL batch line.

Bear in mind that because of shell expansion you can use shell and environment variables within the HEREDOC. The down-side is that you must escape each and every backtick. MySQL uses them as the delimiters for identifiers but the shell, which gets the string first, uses them as executable command delimiters. Miss the escape on a single backtick of the MySQL commands, and the whole thing explodes with errors. The whole issue can be solved by using a quoted LimitString for the HEREDOC:

Removing shell expansion that way eliminates the need to escape the backticks, and other shell-special characters. It also removes the ability to use shell and environment variables within it. That pretty much removes the benefits of using a HEREDOC inside the shell script to begin with.

The other option is to use the multi-line quoted strings allowed in Bash with the batch syntax version (with the -Bse). I don't know other shells, so I cannot say if they work therein as well. You would need to use this for executing more than one .sql file with the SOURCE command anyway, since that is not terminated by a ; as other MySQL commands are, and only one is allowed per line. The multi-line string can be either single or double quoted, with the normal effects on shell expansion. It also has the same caveats as using the HEREDOC syntax does for backticks, etc.

A potentially better solution would be to use a scripting language, Perl, Python, etc., to create the .sql file, as the OP did, and SOURCE that file using the simple command syntax at the top. The scripting languages are much better at string manipulation than the shell is, and most have in-built procedures to handle the quoting and escaping needed when dealing with MySQL.

I had a similar issue with an integer that could be legitimately assigned 0 in Access VBA. None of the above solutions worked for me.

At first I just used a boolean var and IF statement:

The solution is setting a height to the vertical scrollable element. For example:

The basic idea of Servlet container is using Java to dynamically generate the web page on the server side using Servlets and JSP. So servlet container is essentially a part of a web server that interacts with the servlets.

Steps to be done, got same error but i fixed it. Gitlab wants ssh-rsa so below is the code to run ssh for rsa

8. Go to your SSH folder and get the id_rsa.pub

9. Open it and get the key and Copy Paste to the Gitlab and you are nearly to done.

sleep()causes the thread to definitely stop executing for a given amount of time; if no other thread or process needs to be run, the CPU will be idle (and probably enter a power saving mode). yield()basically means that the thread is not doing anything particularly important and if any other threads or processes need to be run, they should. This error is a result of the protection level of ClassB's constructor, not ClassB itself. Since the name of the constructor is the same as the name of the class^* , the error may be interpreted incorrectly. Since you did not specify the protection level of your constructor, it is assumed to be internal by default. Declaring the constructor public will fix this problem:

What you are looking for is a "diff algorithm". A quick google search led me to this solution. I did not test it, but maybe it will do what you need.

What happens in reality in case you pass string as a first parameter of function

setTimeout('string',number)

is value of first param got evaluated when it is time to run (after numberof miliseconds passed). Basically it is equal to

setTimeout(eval('string'), number)

This is

an alternative syntax that allows you to include a string instead of a function, which is compiled and executed when the timer expires. This syntax is not recommended for the same reasons that make using eval() a security risk.

So samples which you refer are not good samples, and may be given in different context or just simple typo.

If you invoke like this setTimeout(something, number), first parameter is not string, but pointer to a something called something. And again if something is string - then it will be evaluated. But if it is function, then function will be executed. jsbin sample

May be i did not fully understand the problem, but, centering all view inside a ConstraintLayout seems very simple. This is what I used:

I believe you need the option, Multiline.

The only way to be 100% sure the same form never gets submitted twice is to embed a unique identifier in each one you issue and track which ones have been submitted at the server. The pitfall there is that if the user backs up to the page where the form was and enters new data, the same form won't work.

Yes, in near future (i write this in june 2012) you can define native css variables, without using less/sass etc ! The Webkit engine just implemented first css variable rules, so cutting edge versions of Chrome and Safari are already to work with them. You should consider using a dict type instead of pre-initialized list. The cost of a dictionary look-up is small and comparable to the cost of accessing arbitrary list element.

And when using a mapping you can write:

And the putElement function can store item at any given position. And if you need to check if your collection contains element at given index it is more Pythonic to write:

Than:

Since the latter assumes that no real element in your collection can be None. And if that happens - your code misbehaves.

And if you desperately need performance and that's why you try to pre-initialize your variables, and write the fastest code possible - change your language. The fastest code can't be written in Python. You should try C instead and implement wrappers to call your pre-initialized and pre-compiled code from Python.

Or, alternatively, you can take a list comprehension approach:

First check with dmesg | grep tty if system recognize your adapter. Then try to run minicom with sudo minicom -s, go to "Serial port setup" and change the first line to /dev/ttyUSB0.

I consider delegates to be Anonymous Interfaces. In many cases you can use them whenever you need an interface with a single method, but you don't want the overhead of defining that interface.

The accepted convention of passing C-strings to functions is to use a pointer:

Your first example:

passes an array of pointers to strings which is not what you need at all.

Your second example:

passes an array of chars. The size of the array here doesn't matter and the parameter will decay to a pointer anyway, so this is equivalent to:

I solved my case with this solution. Did just insert a new parameter createDatabaseIfNotExist=true on a spring.datasource.url property on an application.properties file, like this:
