Spring @Transactional read-only propagation

Calling readOnly=false from readOnly=true doesn't work since the previous transaction continues.

In your example, the handle() method on your service layer is starting a new read-write transaction. If the handle method in turn calls service methods that annotated read-only, the read-only will take no effect as they will participate in the existing read-write transaction instead.

If it is essential for those methods to be read-only, then you can annotate them with Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW, and they will then start a new read-only transaction rather than participate in the existing read-write transaction.

Here is a worked example, CircuitStateRepository is a spring-data JPA repository.

BeanS calls a transactional=read-only Bean1, which does a lookup and calls transactional=read-write Bean2 which saves a new object.

  • Bean1 starts a read-only tx.

How to verify if a file exists in a batch file?

Here is a good example on how to do a command if a file does or does not exist:

We will take those three files and put it in a temporary place. After deleting the folder, it will restore those three files.

Call other batch file with option sync.bat myprogram.ini.

I am not sure what you mean by this, but if you just want to open both of these files you just put the path of the file like

If it was in the Bash environment it was easy for me, but I do not know how to test if a file or folder exists and if it is a file or folder.

How to get a value from the last inserted row?

See the API docs for java.sql.Statement.

Basically, when you call executeUpdate() or executeQuery(), use the Statement.RETURN_GENERATED_KEYS constant. You can then call getGeneratedKeys to get the auto-generated keys of all rows created by that execution. (Assuming your JDBC driver provides it.)

How does numpy.newaxis work and when to use it?

What is np.newaxis?

The np.newaxis is just an alias for the Python constant None, which means that wherever you use np.newaxis you could also use None:

>>> np.newaxis is None
True

It's just more descriptive if you read code that uses np.newaxis instead of None.

How to use np.newaxis?

The np.newaxis is generally used with slicing. It indicates that you want to add an additional dimension to the array. The position of the np.newaxis represents where I want to add dimensions.

>>> import numpy as np
>>> a = np.arange(10)
>>> a
array([0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9])
>>> a.shape
(10,)

In the first example I use all elements from the first dimension and add a second dimension:

Are there alternatives to np.newaxis?

There is another very similar functionality in NumPy: np.expand_dims, which can also be used to insert one dimension:

>>> np.expand_dims(a, 1)  # like a[:, np.newaxis]
>>> np.expand_dims(a, 0)  # like a[np.newaxis, :]

But given that it just inserts 1s in the shape you could also reshape the array to add these dimensions:

>>> a.reshape(a.shape + (1,))  # like a[:, np.newaxis]
>>> a.reshape((1,) + a.shape)  # like a[np.newaxis, :]

Most of the times np.newaxis is the easiest way to add dimensions, but it's good to know the alternatives.

When to use np.newaxis?

In several contexts is adding dimensions useful:

  • If the data should have a specified number of dimensions. For example if you want to use matplotlib.pyplot.imshow to display a 1D array.

  • If you want NumPy to broadcast arrays. By adding a dimension you could for example get the difference between all elements of one array: a - a[:, np.newaxis]. This works because NumPy operations broadcast starting with the last dimension 1.

  • To add a necessary dimension so that NumPy can broadcast arrays. This works because each length-1 dimension is simply broadcast to the length of the corresponding1 dimension of the other array.

You have to add the jar/war of the module B in the module A and add the classpath in your new spring-module file. Just add this line

Old question but.. I also needed a periodical task runner and wrote TaskTimer. This is also useful when you need to run multiple tasks on different intervals.

Assign variable value inside if-statement

Yes, it is possible to assign inside if conditional check. But, your variable should have already been declared to assign something.

What is the javascript filename naming convention?

I generally prefer hyphens with lower case, but one thing not yet mentioned is that sometimes it's nice to have the file name exactly match the name of a single module or instantiable function contained within.

For example, I have a revealing module declared with var knockoutUtilityModule = function() {...} within its own file named knockoutUtilityModule.js, although objectively I prefer knockout-utility-module.js.

Similarly, since I'm using a bundling mechanism to combine scripts, I've taken to defining instantiable functions (templated view models etc) each in their own file, C# style, for maintainability. For example, ProductDescriptorViewModel lives on its own inside ProductDescriptorViewModel.js (I use upper case for instantiable functions).

User Defined Function.

  1. Function must return a value.
  2. Will allow only Select statements, it will not allow us to use DML statements.
  3. It will allow only input parameters, doesn't support output parameters.
  4. It will not allow us to use try-catch blocks.
  5. Transactions are not allowed within functions.
  6. We can use only table variables, it will not allow using temporary tables.
  7. Stored Procedures can't be called from a function.
  8. Functions can be called from a select statement.
  9. A UDF can be used in join clause as a result set.

Stored Procedure

  1. Stored Procedure may or not return values.
  2. Can have select statements as well as DML statements such as insert, update, delete and so on
  3. It can have both input and output parameters.
  4. For exception handling we can use try catch blocks.
  5. Can use transactions within Stored Procedures.
  6. Can use both table variables as well as temporary table in it.
  7. Stored Procedures can call functions.
  8. Procedures can't be called from Select/Where/Having and so on statements. Execute/Exec statement can be used to call/execute Stored Procedure.
  9. Procedures can't be used in Join clause

When should I use curly braces for ES6 import?

The curly braces ({}) are used to import named bindings and the concept behind it is destructuring assignment

Confusing error in R: Error in scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings, : line 1 did not have 42 elements)

read.table wants to return a data.frame, which must have an element in each column. Therefore R expects each row to have the same number of elements and it doesn't fill in empty spaces by default. Try read.table("/PathTo/file.csv" , fill = TRUE ) to fill in the blanks.

e.g.

Check whether values in one data frame column exist in a second data frame

Use %in% as follows

Which will tell you which values of column C of A are in B.

What is returned is a logical vector. In the specific case of your example, you get:

In my case, I was getting this error when I serve the app, not when testing. I didn't realise I had a different configuration setting in my tsconfig.app.json file.

I previously had this:

It was including all my .spec.ts files when serving the app. I changed the include property toexclude` and added a regex to exclude all test files like this:

As others have already shared, app.set('config', config) is great for this. I just wanted to add something that I didn't see in existing answers that is quite important. A Node.js instance is shared across all requests, so while it may be very practical to share some config or router object globally, storing runtime data globally will be available across requests and users. Consider this very simple example:

There are several ways to do this:

InStr

You can use the InStr build-in function to test if a String contains a substring. InStr will either return the index of the first match, or 0. So you can test if a String begins with a substring by doing the following:

Python has the pickle module just for this kind of thing.

These functions are all that you need for saving and loading almost any object:

I don't see any problem, unless you are not managing them using a connection pool.

If you use connection pool, these connections are re-used instead of initiating new connections. so basically, leaving open connections and re-use them it is less problematic than re-creating them each time.

Encode html entities in javascript

If you're already using jQuery, try html().

An in-memory text node is instantiated, and html() is called on it.

In its article Constants (C# Programming Guide), Microsoft gives the following example:

Right, Maven uses the Java system property user.home as location for the .m2 folder.

But user.home does not always resolve to %USERPROFILE%\.m2. If you have moved the location of your Desktop folder to another place, user.home might resolve to the parent directory of this new Desktop folder. This happens when using Windows Vista or a more recent Windows together with Java 7 or any older Java version.

In your for loop you need to multiply the units * price. That gives you the total for that particular item. Also in the for loop you should add that to a counter that keeps track of the grand total. Your code would look something like

How to check if a std::string is set or not?

As several answers pointed out, std::string has no concept of 'nullness' for its value. If using the empty string as such a value isn't good enough (ie., you need to distinguish between a string that has no characters and a string that has no value), you can use a std::string* and set it to NULL or to a valid std::string instance as appropriate.

You may want to use some sort of smart pointer type (boost::scoped_ptr or something) to help manage the lifetime of any std::string object that you set the pointer to.

Make sure you're on your master branch with

1)git checkout master

then create the new branch with

2)git branch --track my_test origin/my_test

and check it out with

3)git checkout my_test.

You can then push and pull without specifying which local and remote.

However if you've already created the branch then you can use the -u switch to tell git's push and pull you'd like to use the specified local and remote branches from now on, like so:

git pull -u my_test origin/my_test
git push -u my_test origin/my_test

Config

The commands to setup remote branch tracking are fairly straight forward but I'm listing the config way as well as I find it easier if I'm setting up a bunch of tracking branches. Using your favourite editor open up your project's .git/config and add the following to the bottom.

[remote "origin"]
    url = [email protected]:username/repo.git
    fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
[branch "my_test"]
    remote = origin
    merge = refs/heads/my_test

This specifies a remote called origin, in this case a GitHub style one, and then tells the branch my_test to use it as it's remote.

NSString property: copy or retain?

For attributes whose type is an immutable value class that conforms to the NSCopying protocol, you almost always should specify copy in your @property declaration. Specifying retain is something you almost never want in such a situation.

Here's why you want to do that:

Difference between attr_accessor and attr_accessible

attr_accessor is ruby code and is used when you do not have a column in your database, but still want to show a field in your forms. The only way to allow this is to attr_accessor :fieldname and you can use this field in your View, or model, if you wanted, but mostly in your View.

Save plot to image file instead of displaying it using Matplotlib

As others have said, plt.savefig() or fig1.savefig() is indeed the way to save an image.

However I've found that in certain cases the figure is always shown. (eg. with Spyder having plt.ion(): interactive mode = On.) I work around this by forcing the closing of the figure window in my giant loop with plt.close(figure_object) (see documentation), so I don't have a million open figures during the loop:

PHP get dropdown value and text

You will have to save the relationship on the server side. The value is the only part that is transmitted when the form is posted. You could do something nasty like...

Then split the result apart if you really wanted to, but that is an ugly hack and a waste of bandwidth assuming the numbers are truly unique and have a one to one relationship with the text.

The best way would be to create an array, and loop over the array to create the HTML. Once the form is posted you can use the value to look up the text in that same array.

1. Life Cycle vs Phase

Life Cycle is a collection of phase in sequence see here Life Cycle References. When you call a phase, it will also call all phase before it.

For example, the clean life cycle has 3 phases (pre-clean, clean, post-clean).

It will call pre-clean and clean.

2. Plugin vs Goal

Goal is like an action in Plugin. So if plugin is a class, goal is a method.

you can call a goal like this:

mvn clean:clean

This means "call the clean goal, in the clean plugin" (Nothing relates to the clean phase here. Don't let the word"clean" confusing you, they are not the same!)

3. Now the relation between Phase & Goal:

Phase can (pre)links to Goal(s).For example, normally, the clean phase links to the clean goal. So, when you call this command:

mvn clean

It will call the pre-clean phase and the clean phase which links to the clean:clean goal.

It is almost the same as:

mvn pre-clean clean:clean

The problem with all of the answers given so far is that on the something borrowed site, the Mac bar remains totally hidden when scrolling up, and the provided answers don't accomplish that.

If you just use scrollTo and then the user later scrolls up, the nav bar is revealed again, so it seems you have to put the whole site inside of a div and force scrolling to happen inside of that div rather than on the body which keeps the nav bar hidden during scrolling in any direction.

You can, however, still reveal the nav bar by touching near the top of the screen on apple devices.

setTimeout or setInterval?

setInterval()

setInterval() is a time interval based code execution method that has the native ability to repeatedly run a specified script when the interval is reached. It should not be nested into its callback function by the script author to make it loop, since it loops by default. It will keep firing at the interval unless you call clearInterval().

If you want to loop code for animations or on a clock tick, then use setInterval().

setTimeout()

setTimeout() is a time based code execution method that will execute a script only one time when the interval is reached. What is the reason and how to avoid the [FIN, ACK] , [RST] and [RST, ACK]

Here is a rough explanation of the concepts.

[ACK] is the acknowledgement that the previously sent data packet was received.

[FIN] is sent by a host when it wants to terminate the connection; the TCP protocol requires both endpoints to send the termination request (i.e. FIN).

So, suppose

  • host A sends a data packet to host B
  • and then host B wants to close the connection.
  • Host B (depending on timing) can respond with [FIN,ACK] indicating that it received the sent packet and wants to close the session.
  • Host A should then respond with a [FIN,ACK] indicating that it received the termination request (the ACK part) and that it too will close the connection (the FIN part).

However, if host A wants to close the session after sending the packet, it would only send a [FIN] packet (nothing to acknowledge) but host B would respond with [FIN,ACK] (acknowledges the request and responds with FIN).

Finally, some TCP stacks perform half-duplex termination, meaning that they can send [RST] instead of the usual [FIN,ACK]. This happens when the host actively closes the session without processing all the data that was sent to it. Linux is one operating system which does just this.

Using Git with Visual Studio

I use Git with Visual Studio for my port of Protocol Buffers to C#. I don't use the GUI - I just keep a command line open as well as Visual Studio.

For the most part it's fine - the only problem is when you want to rename a file. Both Git and Visual Studio would rather that they were the one to rename it. I think that renaming it in Visual Studio is the way to go though - just be careful what you do at the Git side afterwards. Although this has been a bit of a pain in the past, I've heard that it actually should be pretty seamless on the Git side, because it can notice that the contents will be mostly the same. (Not entirely the same, usually - you tend to rename a file when you're renaming the class, IME.)

But basically - yes, it works fine. I'm a Git newbie, but I can get it to do everything I need it to. Make sure you have a git ignore file for bin and obj, and *.user.

The issue that JavaFX is no longer part of JDK 11. The following solution works using IntelliJ (haven't tried it with NetBeans):

  1. Add JavaFX Global Library as a dependency:

You need to have the files src/staging/google-services.json and src/production/google-services.json. Replace the flavor names for the ones you use.

You can also call it from PowerShell and add additional checks if needed. The advantage of this tool vs. PowerShell is that the sc tool can also set the start type to auto delayed.

Timestamp to human readable format

Hours, minutes and seconds depend on the time zone of your operating system. In GMT (UST) it's 22:00:00 but in different timezones it can be anything. So add the timezone offset to the time to create the GMT date:

Are there any log file about Windows Services Status?

Under Windows 7, open the Event Viewer. You can do this the way Gishu suggested for XP, typing eventvwr from the command line, or by opening the Control Panel, selecting System and Security, then Administrative Tools and finally Event Viewer. It may require UAC approval or an admin password.

In the left pane, expand Windows Logs and then System. You can filter the logs with Filter Current Log... from the Actions pane on the right and selecting "Service Control Manager." Or, depending on why you want this information, you might just need to look through the Error entries.

The actual log entry pane (not shown) is pretty user-friendly and self-explanatory. You'll be looking for messages like the following:

"The Praxco Assistant service entered the stopped state."
"The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service entered the running state."
"The MySQL service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s)."

Here's my answer on that post, just for the reference:

If you are running from a new bash instance, and you HAVE the initialization code at your ~/.bashrc, ~/.bash_profile, etc, then you need to check this initialization file for conditionals.

On Ubuntu 14, there is a:

At line 6, that will halt it's execution if bash is not being ran with the "-i" (interactive) flag. So you would need to run:

bash -i

Also, at the end of the file, there is a

[ -z "$PS1" ] && return

That will halt it's execution if not being ran with $PS1 set (like on a remote ssh session).

If you do not wish to add any env vars or flags, you will need to remove those conditionals from your initialization file.

If you want to do this without blocking your remaining code, you can use this to let it run in its own thread:

This solution combines several features rarely found combined in the other solutions:

  • Exception handling: As far as possible on this level, exceptions are handled properly, i. e. get logged for debugging purposes without aborting our program.
  • No chaining: The common chain-like implementation (for scheduling the next event) you find in many answers is brittle in the aspect that if anything goes wrong within the scheduling mechanism (threading.Timer or whatever), this will terminate the chain. No further executions will happen then, even if the reason of the problem is already fixed. A simple loop and waiting with a simple sleep() is much more robust in comparison.
  • No drift: My solution keeps an exact track of the times it is supposed to run at. There is no drift depending on the execution time (as in many other solutions).
  • Skipping: My solution will skip tasks if one execution took too much time (e. g. do X every five seconds, but X took 6 seconds). This is the standard cron behavior (and for a good reason). Many other solutions then simply execute the task several times in a row without any delay. For most cases (e. g. cleanup tasks) this is not wished. If it is wished, simply use next_time += delay instead.
