Programs & Examples On #Modal view

Present and dismiss modal view controller

The easiest way i tired in xcode 4.52 was to create an additional view and connect them by using segue modal(control drag the button from view one to the second view, chose Modal). Then drag in a button to second view or the modal view that you created. Control and drag this button to the header file and use action connection. This will create an IBaction in your controller.m file. Find your button action type in the code.

[self dismissViewControllerAnimated:YES completion:nil];

How to obtain Telegram chat_id for a specific user?

The message updates you receive via getUpdates or your webhook will contain the chat ID for the specific message. It will be contained under the message.chat.id key.

This seems like the only way you are able to retrieve the chat ID. So if you want to write something where the bot initiates the conversation you will probably have to store the chat ID in relation to the user in some sort of key->value store like MemCache or Redis.

I believe their documentation suggests something similar here, https://core.telegram.org/bots#deep-linking-example. You can use deep-linking to initiate a conversation without requiring the user to type a message first.

How can I debug git/git-shell related problems?

If its over SSH, you can use the following:

For a higher debug level for type -vv or -vvv for debug level 2 and 3 respectively:

# Debug level 1
GIT_SSH_COMMAND="ssh -v" git clone <repositoryurl>

# Debug level 2
GIT_SSH_COMMAND="ssh -vv" git clone <repositoryurl>

# Debug level 3
GIT_SSH_COMMAND="ssh -vvv" git clone <repositoryurl>

This is mainly useful to handle public and private key problems with the server. You can use this command for any git command, not only 'git clone'.

Setting public class variables

Use Constructors.

<?php
class TestClass
{
    public $testVar = "default value";
    public function __construct($varValue)
    {
       $this->testVar = $varValue;
    }
}
$object = new TestClass('another value');
print $object->testVar;
?>

How do you strip a character out of a column in SQL Server?

Use the "REPLACE" string function on the column in question:

UPDATE (yourTable)
SET YourColumn = REPLACE(YourColumn, '*', '')
WHERE (your conditions)

Replace the "*" with the character you want to strip out and specify your WHERE clause to match the rows you want to apply the update to.

Of course, the REPLACE function can also be used - as other answerer have shown - in a SELECT statement - from your question, I assumed you were trying to update a table.

Usage of @see in JavaDoc?

A good example of a situation when @see can be useful would be implementing or overriding an interface/abstract class method. The declaration would have javadoc section detailing the method and the overridden/implemented method could use a @see tag, referring to the base one.

Response::json() - Laravel 5.1

However, the previous answer could still be confusing for some programmers. Most especially beginners who are most probably using an older book or tutorial. Or perhaps you still feel the facade is needed. Sure you can use it. Me for one I still love to use the facade, this is because some times while building my api I forget to use the '\' before the Response.

if you are like me, simply add

   "use Response;"

above your class ...extends contoller. this should do.

with this you can now use:

$response = Response::json($posts, 200);

instead of:

$response = \Response::json($posts, 200);

How do I properly force a Git push?

I would really recommend to:

  • push only to the main repo

  • make sure that main repo is a bare repo, in order to never have any problem with the main repo working tree being not in sync with its .git base. See "How to push a local git repository to another computer?"

  • If you do have to make modification in the main (bare) repo, clone it (on the main server), do your modification and push back to it

In other words, keep a bare repo accessible both from the main server and the local computer, in order to have a single upstream repo from/to which to pull/pull.

How do I sort a vector of pairs based on the second element of the pair?

With C++0x we can use lambda functions:

using namespace std;
vector<pair<int, int>> v;
        .
        .
sort(v.begin(), v.end(),
     [](const pair<int, int>& lhs, const pair<int, int>& rhs) {
             return lhs.second < rhs.second; } );

In this example the return type bool is implicitly deduced.

Lambda return types

When a lambda-function has a single statement, and this is a return-statement, the compiler can deduce the return type. From C++11, §5.1.2/4:

...

  • If the compound-statement is of the form { return expression ; } the type of the returned expression after lvalue-to-rvalue conversion (4.1), array-to-pointer conversion (4.2), and function-to-pointer conversion (4.3);
  • otherwise, void.

To explicitly specify the return type use the form []() -> Type { }, like in:

sort(v.begin(), v.end(),
     [](const pair<int, int>& lhs, const pair<int, int>& rhs) -> bool {
             if (lhs.second == 0)
                 return true;
             return lhs.second < rhs.second; } );

Google Maps API v3 marker with label

the above solutions wont work on ipad-2

recently I had an safari browser crash issue while plotting the markers even if there are less number of markers. Initially I was using marker with label (markerwithlabel.js) library for plotting the marker , when i use google native marker it was working fine even with large number of markers but i want customized markers , so i refer the above solution given by jonathan but still the crashing issue is not resolved after doing lot of research i came to know about http://nickjohnson.com/b/google-maps-v3-how-to-quickly-add-many-markers this blog and now my map search is working smoothly on ipad-2 :)

jQuery - replace all instances of a character in a string

You need to use a regular expression, so that you can specify the global (g) flag:

var s = 'some+multi+word+string'.replace(/\+/g, ' ');

(I removed the $() around the string, as replace is not a jQuery method, so that won't work at all.)

ValueError: The truth value of an array with more than one element is ambiguous. Use a.any() or a.all()

r is a numpy (rec)array. So r["dt"] >= startdate is also a (boolean) array. For numpy arrays the & operation returns the elementwise-and of the two boolean arrays.

The NumPy developers felt there was no one commonly understood way to evaluate an array in boolean context: it could mean True if any element is True, or it could mean True if all elements are True, or True if the array has non-zero length, just to name three possibilities.

Since different users might have different needs and different assumptions, the NumPy developers refused to guess and instead decided to raise a ValueError whenever one tries to evaluate an array in boolean context. Applying and to two numpy arrays causes the two arrays to be evaluated in boolean context (by calling __bool__ in Python3 or __nonzero__ in Python2).

Your original code

mask = ((r["dt"] >= startdate) & (r["dt"] <= enddate))
selected = r[mask]

looks correct. However, if you do want and, then instead of a and b use (a-b).any() or (a-b).all().

Sorting multiple keys with Unix sort

Note that is may also be desired to stabilize the sort with the -s switch, so that equally ranked lines maintain their original relative order in the output too.

What is the (function() { } )() construct in JavaScript?

This is the self-invoking anonymous function. It is executed while it is defined. Which means this function is defined and invokes itself immediate after the definition.

And the explanation of the syntax is: The function within the first () parenthesis is the function which has no name and by the next (); parenthesis you can understand that it is called at the time it is defined. And you can pass any argument in this second () parenthesis which will be grabbed in the function which is in the first parenthesis. See this example:

(function(obj){
    // Do something with this obj
})(object);

Here the 'object' you are passing will be accessible within the function by 'obj', as you are grabbing it in the function signature.

Named tuple and default values for optional keyword arguments

Using the NamedTuple class from my Advanced Enum (aenum) library, and using the class syntax, this is quite simple:

from aenum import NamedTuple

class Node(NamedTuple):
    val = 0
    left = 1, 'previous Node', None
    right = 2, 'next Node', None

The one potential drawback is the requirement for a __doc__ string for any attribute with a default value (it's optional for simple attributes). In use it looks like:

>>> Node()
Traceback (most recent call last):
  ...
TypeError: values not provided for field(s): val

>>> Node(3)
Node(val=3, left=None, right=None)

The advantages this has over justinfay's answer:

from collections import namedtuple

class Node(namedtuple('Node', ['value', 'left', 'right'])):
    __slots__ = ()
    def __new__(cls, value, left=None, right=None):
        return super(Node, cls).__new__(cls, value, left, right)

is simplicity, as well as being metaclass based instead of exec based.

What's the best way to check if a String represents an integer in Java?

Did a quick benchmark. Exceptions aren't actually that expensivve, unless you start popping back multiple methods and the JVM has to do a lot of work to get the execution stack in place. When staying in the same method, they aren't bad performers.

RewriteCond ...A... [OR]
RewriteCond ...B...
RewriteRule ^ - [E=RESULT_ONE:True]

Spring MVC: Complex object as GET @RequestParam

Yes, You can do it in a simple way. See below code of lines.

URL - http://localhost:8080/get/request/multiple/param/by/map?name='abc' & id='123'

 @GetMapping(path = "/get/request/header/by/map")
    public ResponseEntity<String> getRequestParamInMap(@RequestParam Map<String,String> map){
        // Do your business here
        return new ResponseEntity<String>(map.toString(),HttpStatus.OK);
    }

IIs Error: Application Codebehind=“Global.asax.cs” Inherits=“nadeem.MvcApplication”

The only solution that worked for me

  1. Run, Type command %Temp% -> Deleting "Temporary ASP.NET Files".

Other solutions I have tried, which didn't work.

  1. Cleaning/Rebuilding

  2. Cleaning bin, obj folders

  3. Changing namespace

Change the default base url for axios

From axios docs you have baseURL and url

baseURL will be prepended to url when making requests. So you can define baseURL as http://127.0.0.1:8000 and make your requests to /url

 // `url` is the server URL that will be used for the request
 url: '/user',

 // `baseURL` will be prepended to `url` unless `url` is absolute.
 // It can be convenient to set `baseURL` for an instance of axios to pass relative URLs
 // to methods of that instance.
 baseURL: 'https://some-domain.com/api/',

Check if string contains a value in array

Here is a mini-function that search all values from an array in a given string. I use this in my site to check for visitor IP is in my permitted list on certain pages.

function array_in_string($str, array $arr) {
    foreach($arr as $arr_value) { //start looping the array
        if (stripos($str,$arr_value) !== false) return true; //if $arr_value is found in $str return true
    }
    return false; //else return false
}

how to use

$owned_urls = array('website1.com', 'website2.com', 'website3.com');

//this example should return FOUND
$string = 'my domain name is website3.com';
if (array_in_string($string, $owned_urls)) {
    echo "first: Match found<br>";
}
else {
    echo "first: Match not found<br>";
}

//this example should return NOT FOUND
$string = 'my domain name is website4.com';
if (array_in_string($string, $owned_urls)) {
    echo "second: Match found<br>";
}
else {
    echo "second: Match not found<br>";
}

javascript - pass selected value from popup window to parent window input box

From your code

<input type=button value="Select" onClick="sendValue(this.form.details);"

Im not sure that your this.form.details valid or not.

IF it's valid, have a look in window.opener.document.getElementById('details').value = selvalue;

I can't found an input's id contain details I'm just found only id=sku1 (recommend you to add " like id="sku1").

And from your id it's hardcode. Let's see how to do with dynamic when a child has callback to update some textbox on the parent Take a look at here.

First page.

<html>
<head>
<script>
    function callFromDialog(id,data){ //for callback from the dialog
        document.getElementById(id).value = data;
        // do some thing other if you want
    }

    function choose(id){
        var URL = "secondPage.html?id=" + id + "&dummy=avoid#";
        window.open(URL,"mywindow","menubar=1,resizable=1,width=350,height=250")
    }
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input id="tbFirst" type="text" /> <button onclick="choose('tbFirst')">choose</button>
<input id="tbSecond" type="text" /> <button onclick="choose('tbSecond')">choose</button>
</body>
</html>

Look in function choose I'm sent an id of textbox to the popup window (don't forget to add dummy data at last of URL param like &dummy=avoid#)

Popup Page

<html>
<head>
<script>
    function goSelect(data){
        var idFromCallPage = getUrlVars()["id"];
        window.opener.callFromDialog(idFromCallPage,data); //or use //window.opener.document.getElementById(idFromCallPage).value = data;
        window.close();
    }

    function getUrlVars(){
        var vars = [], hash;
        var hashes = window.location.href.slice(window.location.href.indexOf('?') + 1).split('&');
        for(var i = 0; i < hashes.length; i++)
        {
            hash = hashes[i].split('=');
            vars.push(hash[0]);
            vars[hash[0]] = hash[1];
        }
        return vars;
    }
</script>
</head>
<body>
<a href="#" onclick="goSelect('Car')">Car</a> <br />
<a href="#" onclick="goSelect('Food')">Food</a> <br />
</body>
</html>

I have add function getUrlVars for get URL param that the parent has pass to child.

Okay, when select data in the popup, for this case it's will call function goSelect

In that function will get URL param to sent back.

And when you need to sent back to the parent just use window.opener and the name of function like window.opener.callFromDialog

By fully is window.opener.callFromDialog(idFromCallPage,data);

Or if you want to use window.opener.document.getElementById(idFromCallPage).value = data; It's ok too.

Dump all tables in CSV format using 'mysqldump'

If you are using MySQL or MariaDB, the easiest and performant way dump CSV for single table is -

SELECT customer_id, firstname, surname INTO OUTFILE '/exportdata/customers.txt'
  FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
  LINES TERMINATED BY '\n'
  FROM customers;

Now you can use other techniques to repeat this command for multiple tables. See more details here:

Regular cast vs. static_cast vs. dynamic_cast

dynamic_cast has runtime type checking and only works with references and pointers, whereas static_cast does not offer runtime type checking. For complete information, see the MSDN article static_cast Operator.

How to delete a file after checking whether it exists

You could import the System.IO namespace using:

HTML image bottom alignment inside DIV container

Flexboxes can accomplish this by using align-items: flex-end; with display: flex; or display: inline-flex;

div#imageContainer {
    height: 160px;
    align-items: flex-end;
    display: flex;

    /* This is the default value, so you only need to explicitly set it if it's already being set to something else elsewhere. */
    /*flex-direction: row;*/
}

Converting year and month ("yyyy-mm" format) to a date?

The most concise solution if you need the dates to be in Date format:

library(zoo)
month <- "2000-03"
as.Date(as.yearmon(month))
[1] "2000-03-01"

as.Date will fix the first day of each month to a yearmon object for you.

Removing all line breaks and adding them after certain text

You can also try this in Notepad++

  • Highlight the lines you want to join (ctrl + a to select all)
  • Choose Edit -> Line Operations -> Join Lines

jquery's append not working with svg element?

 var svg; // if you have variable declared and not assigned value.
 // then you make a mistake by appending elements to that before creating element
 svg.appendChild(document.createElement("g"));
 // at some point you assign to svg
 svg = document.createElementNS('http://www.w3.org/2000/svg', "svg")
 // then you put it in DOM
 document.getElementById("myDiv").appendChild(svg)
 // it wont render unless you manually change myDiv DOM with DevTools

// to fix assign before you append
var svg = createElement("svg", [
    ["version", "1.2"],
    ["xmlns:xlink", "http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"],
    ["aria-labelledby", "title"],
    ["role", "img"],
    ["class", "graph"]
]);
function createElement(tag, attributeArr) {
      // .createElementNS NS is must! Does not draw without
      let elem = document.createElementNS('http://www.w3.org/2000/svg', tag);
      attributeArr.forEach(element => elem.setAttribute(element[0], element[1]));
      return elem;
}
// extra: <circle> for example requires attributes to render. Check if missing.

Returning multiple objects in an R function

Unlike many other languages, R functions don't return multiple objects in the strict sense. The most general way to handle this is to return a list object. So if you have an integer foo and a vector of strings bar in your function, you could create a list that combines these items:

foo <- 12
bar <- c("a", "b", "e")
newList <- list("integer" = foo, "names" = bar)

Then return this list.

After calling your function, you can then access each of these with newList$integer or newList$names.

Other object types might work better for various purposes, but the list object is a good way to get started.

I faced this same issue on CentOS 7 years later

Posting hoping that it may help others...

Steps:

FIRST, configure the php-fpm settings:

-> i (to enter VI's text insertion mode)

-> change from listen = 127.0.0.1:9000 TO listen = /var/run/php-fpm/php-fpm.sock

-> Esc then :/listen.owner (to find it) then i (to change)

-> UNCOMMENT the listen.owner = nobody AND listen.group = nobody lines

-> Hit Esc then type :/user = then i

-> change user = apache TO user = nginx

-> AND change group = apache TO group = nginx

-> Hit Esc then :wq (to save and quit)

-> systemctl start php-fpm.service (now you will have a php-fpm.sock file)

SECOND, you configure your server {} block in your /etc/nginx/nginx.conf file. Then run:systemctl restart nginx.service

FINALLY, create a new .php file in your /usr/share/nginx/html directory for your Nginx server to serve up via the internet browser as a test.

-> vi /usr/share/nginx/html/mytest.php

-> type o

-> <?php echo date("Y/m/d-l"); ?> (PHP page will print date and day in browser)

-> Hit Esc

-> type :wq (to save and quite VI editor)

-> open up a browser and go to: http://yourDomainOrIPAddress/mytest.php (you should see the date and day printed)

Invalid Host Header when ngrok tries to connect to React dev server

If you use webpack devServer the simplest way is to set disableHostCheck, check webpack doc like this

devServer: {
    contentBase: path.join(__dirname, './dist'),
    compress: true,
    host: 'localhost',
    // host: '0.0.0.0',
    port: 8080,
    disableHostCheck: true //for ngrok
},

How can I list the scheduled jobs running in my database?

I think you need the SCHEDULER_ADMIN role to see the dba_scheduler tables (however this may grant you too may rights)

How to add new line in Markdown presentation?

See the original markdown specification (bold mine):

The implication of the “one or more consecutive lines of text” rule is that Markdown supports “hard-wrapped” text paragraphs. This differs significantly from most other text-to-HTML formatters (including Movable Type’s “Convert Line Breaks” option) which translate every line break character in a paragraph into a <br /> tag.

When you do want to insert a <br /> break tag using Markdown, you end a line with two or more spaces, then type return.

How to detect running app using ADB command

Alternatively, you could go with pgrep or Process Grep. (Busybox is needed)

You could do a adb shell pgrep com.example.app and it would display just the process Id.

As a suggestion, since Android is Linux, you can use most basic Linux commands with adb shell to navigate/control around. :D

Load CSV file with Spark

If you want to load csv as a dataframe then you can do the following:

from pyspark.sql import SQLContext
sqlContext = SQLContext(sc)

df = sqlContext.read.format('com.databricks.spark.csv') \
    .options(header='true', inferschema='true') \
    .load('sampleFile.csv') # this is your csv file

It worked fine for me.

Jenkins vs Travis-CI. Which one would you use for a Open Source project?

I worked on both Travis and Jenkins: I will list down some of the features of both:

Setup CI for a project

Travis comes in first place. It's very easy to setup. Takes less than a minute to setup with GitHub.

  1. Login to GitHub
  2. Create Web Hook for Travis.
  3. Return to Travis, and login with your GitHub credentials
  4. Sync your GitHub repo and enable Push and Pull requests.

Jenkins:

  1. Create an Environment (Master Jenkins)
  2. Create web hooks
  3. Configure each job (takes time compare to Travis)

Re-running builds

Travis: Anyone with write access on GitHub can re-run the build by clicking on `restart build

Jenkins: Re-run builds based on a phrase. You provide phrase text in PR/commit description, like reverify jenkins.

Controlling environment

Travis: Travis provides hosted environment. It installs required software for every build. It’s a time-consuming process.

Jenkins: One-time setup. Installs all required software on a node/slave machine, and then builds/tests on a pre-installed environment.

Build Logs:

Travis: Supports build logs to place in Amazon S3.

Jenkins: Easy to setup with build artifacts plugin.

How to set focus to a button widget programmatically?

Yeah it's possible.

Button myBtn = (Button)findViewById(R.id.myButtonId);
myBtn.requestFocus();

or in XML

<Button ...><requestFocus /></Button>

Important Note: The button widget needs to be focusable and focusableInTouchMode. Most widgets are focusable but not focusableInTouchMode by default. So make sure to either set it in code

myBtn.setFocusableInTouchMode(true);

or in XML

android:focusableInTouchMode="true"

Convert datetime object to a String of date only in Python

You can convert datetime to string.

node.js vs. meteor.js what's the difference?

Meteor's strength is in it's real-time updates feature which works well for some of the social applications you see nowadays where you see everyone's updates for what you're working on. These updates center around replicating subsets of a MongoDB collection underneath the covers as local mini-mongo (their client side MongoDB subset) database updates on your web browser (which causes multiple render events to be fired on your templates). The latter part about multiple render updates is also the weakness. If you want your UI to control when the UI refreshes (e.g., classic jQuery AJAX pages where you load up the HTML and you control all the AJAX calls and UI updates), you'll be fighting this mechanism.

Meteor uses a nice stack of Node.js plugins (Handlebars.js, Spark.js, Bootstrap css, etc. but using it's own packaging mechanism instead of npm) underneath along w/ MongoDB for the storage layer that you don't have to think about. But sometimes you end up fighting it as well...e.g., if you want to customize the Bootstrap theme, it messes up the loading sequence of Bootstrap's responsive.css file so it no longer is responsive (but this will probably fix itself when Bootstrap 3.0 is released soon).

So like all "full stack frameworks", things work great as long as your app fits what's intended. Once you go beyond that scope and push the edge boundaries, you might end up fighting the framework...

How to apply color in Markdown?

I have started using Markdown to post some of my documents to an internal web site for in-house users. It is an easy way to have a document shared but not able to be edited by the viewer.

So, this marking of text in color is “Great”. I have use several like this and works wonderful.

<span style="color:blue">some *This is Blue italic.* text</span>

Turns into This is Blue italic.

And

<span style="color:red">some **This is Red Bold.** text</span>

Turns into This is Red Bold.

I love the flexibility and ease of use.

How to set up file permissions for Laravel?

The permissions for the storage and vendor folders should stay at 775, for obvious security reasons.

However, both your computer and your server Apache need to be able to write in these folders. Ex: when you run commands like php artisan, your computer needs to write in the logs file in storage.

All you need to do is to give ownership of the folders to Apache :

sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /path/to/your/project/vendor
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /path/to/your/project/storage

Then you need to add your computer (referenced by it's username) to the group to which the server Apache belongs. Like so :

sudo usermod -a -G www-data userName

NOTE: Most frequently, groupName is www-data but in your case, replace it with _www

How to load image to WPF in runtime?

Make sure that your sas.png is marked as Build Action: Content and Copy To Output Directory: Copy Always in its Visual Studio Properties...

I think the C# source code goes like this...

Image image = new Image();
image.Source = (new ImageSourceConverter()).ConvertFromString("pack://application:,,,/Bilder/sas.png") as ImageSource;

and XAML should be

<Image Height="200" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="12,12,0,0"
       Name="image1" Stretch="Fill" VerticalAlignment="Top"
       Source="../Bilder/sas.png"
       Width="350" />

EDIT

Dynamically I think XAML would provide best way to load Images ...

<Image Source="{Binding Converter={StaticResource MyImageSourceConverter}}"
       x:Name="MyImage"/>

where image.DataContext is string path.

MyImage.DataContext = "pack://application:,,,/Bilder/sas.png";

public class MyImageSourceConverter : IValueConverter
{
    public object Convert(object value_, Type targetType_,
    object parameter_, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture_)
    {
        return (new ImageSourceConverter()).ConvertFromString (value.ToString());
    }

    public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType,
    object parameter, CultureInfo culture)
    {
          throw new NotImplementedException();
    }
}

Now as you set a different data context, Image would be automatically loaded at runtime.

Text border using css (border around text)

Sure. You could use CSS3 text-shadow :

text-shadow: 0 0 2px #fff;

However it wont show in all browsers right away. Using a script library like Modernizr will help getting it right in most browsers though.

How does one check if a table exists in an Android SQLite database?

This is what I did:

/* open database, if doesn't exist, create it */
SQLiteDatabase mDatabase = openOrCreateDatabase("exampleDb.db", SQLiteDatabase.CREATE_IF_NECESSARY,null);

Cursor c = null;
boolean tableExists = false;
/* get cursor on it */
try
{
    c = mDatabase.query("tbl_example", null,
        null, null, null, null, null);
        tableExists = true;
}
catch (Exception e) {
    /* fail */
    Log.d(TAG, tblNameIn+" doesn't exist :(((");
}

return tableExists;

Circle line-segment collision detection algorithm?

Weirdly I can answer but not comment... I liked Multitaskpro's approach of shifting everything to make the centre of the circle fall on the origin. Unfortunately there are two problems in his code. First in the under-the-square-root part you need to remove the double power. So not:

var underRadical = Math.pow((Math.pow(r,2)*(Math.pow(m,2)+1)),2)-Math.pow(b,2));

but:

var underRadical = Math.pow(r,2)*(Math.pow(m,2)+1)) - Math.pow(b,2);

In the final coordinates he forgets to shift the solution back. So not:

var i1 = {x:t1,y:m*t1+b}

but:

var i1 = {x:t1+c.x, y:m*t1+b+c.y};

The whole function then becomes:

function interceptOnCircle(p1, p2, c, r) {
    //p1 is the first line point
    //p2 is the second line point
    //c is the circle's center
    //r is the circle's radius

    var p3 = {x:p1.x - c.x, y:p1.y - c.y}; //shifted line points
    var p4 = {x:p2.x - c.x, y:p2.y - c.y};

    var m = (p4.y - p3.y) / (p4.x - p3.x); //slope of the line
    var b = p3.y - m * p3.x; //y-intercept of line

    var underRadical = Math.pow(r,2)*Math.pow(m,2) + Math.pow(r,2) - Math.pow(b,2); //the value under the square root sign

    if (underRadical < 0) {
        //line completely missed
        return false;
    } else {
        var t1 = (-m*b + Math.sqrt(underRadical))/(Math.pow(m,2) + 1); //one of the intercept x's
        var t2 = (-m*b - Math.sqrt(underRadical))/(Math.pow(m,2) + 1); //other intercept's x
        var i1 = {x:t1+c.x, y:m*t1+b+c.y}; //intercept point 1
        var i2 = {x:t2+c.x, y:m*t2+b+c.y}; //intercept point 2
        return [i1, i2];
    }
}

How to JUnit test that two List<E> contain the same elements in the same order?

  • My answer about whether Iterables.elementsEqual is best choice:

Iterables.elementsEqual is enough to compare 2 Lists.

Iterables.elementsEqual is used in more general scenarios, It accepts more general types: Iterable. That is, you could even compare a List with a Set. (by iterate order, it is important)

Sure ArrayList and LinkedList define equals pretty good, you could call equals directly. While when you use a not well defined List, Iterables.elementsEqual is the best choice. One thing should be noticed: Iterables.elementsEqual does not accept null

  • To convert List to array: Iterables.toArray is easer.

  • For unit test, I recommend add empty list to your test case.

How do I call an Angular 2 pipe with multiple arguments?

Since beta.16 the parameters are not passed as array to the transform() method anymore but instead as individual parameters:

{{ myData | date:'fullDate':'arg1':'arg2' }}

export class DatePipe implements PipeTransform {
  transform(value:any, arg1:any, arg2:any):any {
        ...
}

https://github.com/angular/angular/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#200-beta16-2016-04-26

pipes now take a variable number of arguments, and not an array that contains all arguments.

Arrays in cookies PHP

recently i've created this code for my client, i'm using array for cookie in this code, actually this code gets recently viewed pages by user using cookies, hope it helps you...!

function curPageURL() { // get url
return 'http' . ((
!empty($_SERVER['HTTPS']) &&
$_SERVER['HTTPS'] !== 'off' ||
$_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 443
) ? 's' : '') . '://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . (
$_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 80 ? '' :  $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT']
) . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
}

$currentPage = curPageURL(); // call function
$counter = $_COOKIE['_counter']; // set counter variable

if(!$_COOKIE['_PAGES']){ // if _Pages cookie
$default = 1; // set default value to 1
setcookie("_counter",$default,time()+7200); // set counter cookie
setcookie("_PAGES[$default]",$currentPage, time()+3600); // set cookie
}
else{ // if ! _Pages cookie
$default = $counter+1; // set default value to +1
setcookie("_counter",$default,time()+7200); // set counter cookie
}

if(@in_array($currentPage, @$_COOKIE['_PAGES'])){ // if same url found
}
else{ // if new url found
setcookie("_PAGES[$default]",$currentPage, time()+3600); // set cookie
}

if($_COOKIE['_PAGES']){
foreach ($_COOKIE['_PAGES'] as $value){
    echo "<a href='{$value}'>{$value}</a>";

Unzipping files in Python

from zipfile import ZipFile
ZipFile("YOURZIP.zip").extractall("YOUR_DESTINATION_DIRECTORY")

The directory where you will extract your files doesn't need to exist before, you name it at this moment

YOURZIP.zip is the name of the zip if your project is in the same directory. If not, use the PATH i.e : C://....//YOURZIP.zip

Think to escape the / by an other / in the PATH If you have a permission denied try to launch your ide (i.e: Anaconda) as administrator

YOUR_DESTINATION_DIRECTORY will be created in the same directory than your project

Hide options in a select list using jQuery

Take a look at this question and the answers -

Disable select options...

Looking at your code, you may need to quote the attribute value

$("#edit-field-service-sub-cat-value option[value='title']").hide();

from jQuery attribute selectors

Quotes are optional in most cases, but should be used to avoid conflicts when the value contains characters like "]"

EDIT:

Just realised that you're getting the title from the function parameter, in which case the syntax should be

$("#edit-field-service-sub-cat-value option[value='" + title + "']").hide();

How do I display local image in markdown?

To add an image in markdown file the .md file and the image should be in the same directory. As in my case my .md file was in doc folder so i also moved the image into the same folder. After that write the following syntax in .md file

![alt text](filename)

like ![Car Image](car.png)

This has worked for me.

What is the difference between JOIN and JOIN FETCH when using JPA and Hibernate

Dherik : I'm not sure about what you say, when you don't use fetch the result will be of type : List<Object[ ]> which means a list of Object tables and not a list of Employee.

Object[0] refers an Employee entity
Object[1] refers a Departement entity

When you use fetch, there is just one select and the result is the list of Employee List<Employee> containing the list of departements. It overrides the lazy declaration of the entity.

Rails: Address already in use - bind(2) (Errno::EADDRINUSE)

If the above solutions don't work on ubuntu/linux then you can try this

Run it several times to kill processes on your port of choosing. port could be 3000 for example. You would have killed all the processes if you see no output after running the command

Can´t run .bat file under windows 10

There is no inherent reason that a simple batch file would run in XP but not Windows 10. It is possible you are referencing a command or a 3rd party utility that no longer exists. To know more about what is actually happening, you will need to do one of the following:

  • Add a pause to the batch file so that you can see what is happening before it exits.
    1. Right click on one of the .bat files and select "edit". This will open the file in notepad.
    2. Go to the very end of the file and add a new line by pressing "enter".
    3. type pause.
    4. Save the file.
    5. Run the file again using the same method you did before.

- OR -

  • Run the batch file from a static command prompt so the window does not close.
    1. In the folder where the .bat files are located, hold down the "shift" key and right click in the white space.
    2. Select "Open Command Window Here".
    3. You will now see a new command prompt. Type in the name of the batch file and press enter.

Once you have done this, I recommend creating a new question with the output you see after using one of the methods above.

    FragmentTransaction ft = manager.beginTransaction ();

    if (manager.findFragmentByTag ( tag ) == null) { // No fragment in backStack with same tag..
        ft.add ( fragmentHolderLayoutId, fragment, tag );
        ft.addToBackStack ( tag );
        ft.commit ();
    }
    else {
        ft.show ( manager.findFragmentByTag ( tag ) ).commit ();

What is use of c_str function In c++

In C/C++ programming there are two types of strings: the C strings and the standard strings. With the <string> header, we can use the standard strings. On the other hand, the C strings are just an array of normal chars. So, in order to convert a standard string to a C string, we use the c_str() function.

for example

// a string to a C-style string conversion//

const char *cstr1 = str1.c_str();
cout<<"Operation: *cstr1 = str1.c_str()"<<endl;
cout<<"The C-style string c_str1 is: "<<cstr1<<endl;
cout<<"\nOperation: strlen(cstr1)"<<endl;
cout<<"The length of C-style string str1 = "<<strlen(cstr1)<<endl;

And the output will be,

Operation: *cstr1 = str1.c_str()
The C-style string c_str1 is: Testing the c_str
Operation: strlen(cstr1)
The length of C-style string str1 = 17

Converting String to Int using try/except in Python

Firstly, try / except are not functions, but statements.

To convert a string (or any other type that can be converted) to an integer in Python, simply call the int() built-in function. int() will raise a ValueError if it fails and you should catch this specifically:

In Python 2.x:

>>> for value in '12345', 67890, 3.14, 42L, 0b010101, 0xFE, 'Not convertible':
...     try:
...         print '%s as an int is %d' % (str(value), int(value))
...     except ValueError as ex:
... print '"%s" cannot be converted to an int: %s' % (value, ex)
...
12345 as an int is 12345
67890 as an int is 67890
3.14 as an int is 3
42 as an int is 42
21 as an int is 21
254 as an int is 254
"Not convertible" cannot be converted to an int: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'Not convertible'

In Python 3.x

the syntax has changed slightly:

>>> for value in '12345', 67890, 3.14, 42, 0b010101, 0xFE, 'Not convertible':
...     try:
...         print('%s as an int is %d' % (str(value), int(value)))
...     except ValueError as ex:
... print('"%s" cannot be converted to an int: %s' % (value, ex))
...
12345 as an int is 12345
67890 as an int is 67890
3.14 as an int is 3
42 as an int is 42
21 as an int is 21
254 as an int is 254
"Not convertible" cannot be converted to an int: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'Not convertible'

No tests found with test runner 'JUnit 4'

I found out that Eclipse seems to only perform JUnit 3 style tests if your test-class extends from TestCase. If you remove the inheritance, the annotations worked for me.

Beware that you need to statically import all the required assert* methods like import static org.junit.Assert.*.

How do I get logs from all pods of a Kubernetes replication controller?

You can get help from kubectl logs -h and according the info,

kubectl logs -f deployment/myapp -c myapp --tail 100

-c is the container name and --tail will show the latest num lines,but this will choose one pod of the deployment, not all pods. This is something you have to bear in mind.

kubectl logs -l app=myapp -c myapp --tail 100

If you want to show logs of all pods, you can use -l and specify a lable, but at the same time -f won't be used.

How to lay out Views in RelativeLayout programmatically?

Cut the long story short: With relative layout you position elements inside the layout.

  1. create a new RelativeLayout.LayoutParams

    RelativeLayout.LayoutParams lp = new RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(...)

    (whatever... fill parent or wrap content, absolute numbers if you must, or reference to an XML resource)

  2. Add rules: Rules refer to the parent or to other "brothers" in the hierarchy.

    lp.addRule(RelativeLayout.BELOW, someOtherView.getId())
    lp.addRule(RelativeLayout.ALIGN_PARENT_LEFT)

  3. Just apply the layout params: The most 'healthy' way to do that is:

    parentLayout.addView(myView, lp)

Watch out: Don't change layout from the layout callbacks. It is tempting to do so because this is when views get their actual sizes. However, in that case, unexpected results are expected.

What do the makefile symbols $@ and $< mean?

in exemple if you want to compile sources but have objects in an different directory :

You need to do :

gcc -c -o <obj/1.o> <srcs/1.c> <obj/2.o> <srcs/2.c> ...

but with most of macros the result will be all objects followed by all sources, like :

gcc -c -o <all OBJ path> <all SRC path>

so this will not compile anything ^^ and you will not be able to put your objects files in a different dir :(

the solution is to use these special macros

$@ $<

this will generate a .o file (obj/file.o) for each .c file in SRC (src/file.c)

$(OBJ):$(SRC)
   gcc -c -o $@ $< $(HEADERS) $(FLAGS)

it means :

    $@ = $(OBJ)
    $< = $(SRC)

but lines by lines INSTEAD of all lines of OBJ followed by all lines of SRC

JavaScript null check

typeof foo === "undefined" is different from foo === undefined, never confuse them. typeof foo === "undefined" is what you really need. Also, use !== in place of !=

So the statement can be written as

function (data) {
  if (typeof data !== "undefined" && data !== null) {
    // some code here
  }
}

Edit:

You can not use foo === undefined for undeclared variables.

var t1;

if(typeof t1 === "undefined")
{
  alert("cp1");
}

if(t1 === undefined)
{
  alert("cp2");
}

if(typeof t2 === "undefined")
{
  alert("cp3");
}

if(t2 === undefined) // fails as t2 is never declared
{
  alert("cp4");
}

PDF Editing in PHP?

There is a free and easy to use PDF class to create PDF documents. It's called FPDF. In combination with FPDI (http://www.setasign.de/products/pdf-php-solutions/fpdi) it is even possible to edit PDF documents. The following code shows how to use FPDF and FPDI to fill an existing gift coupon with the user data.

require_once('fpdf.php');
require_once('fpdi.php');
$pdf = new FPDI();

$pdf->AddPage();

$pdf->setSourceFile('gift_coupon.pdf');
// import page 1
$tplIdx = $this->pdf->importPage(1);
//use the imported page and place it at point 0,0; calculate width and height
//automaticallay and ajust the page size to the size of the imported page
$this->pdf->useTemplate($tplIdx, 0, 0, 0, 0, true);

// now write some text above the imported page
$this->pdf->SetFont('Arial', '', '13');
$this->pdf->SetTextColor(0,0,0);
//set position in pdf document
$this->pdf->SetXY(20, 20);
//first parameter defines the line height
$this->pdf->Write(0, 'gift code');
//force the browser to download the output
$this->pdf->Output('gift_coupon_generated.pdf', 'D');

Can I set background image and opacity in the same property?

I came across this post as I had the same issue then I thought why mess about with css, adjusting values and hitting refresh when you can easily adjust the opacity in Photoshop? Copy the image, paste it as a new layer then move the opacity slider.

What is MVC and what are the advantages of it?

One con I can think of is if you need really fast access to your data in your view (for example, game animation data like bone positions.) It is very inefficient to keep a layer of separation in this case.

Otherwise, for most other applications which are more data driven than graphics driven, it seems like a logical way to drive a UI.

Differences between JDK and Java SDK

There are two products JavaSE and JavaEE. EE is the web application/enterprise edition that allows the development and running of web application. SE is the plain Java product that has no EE specifics in it, but is a subset of EE. The SE comes in two types a JDK and a JRE.

There is one big difference that may not be obvious, and I am not sure if it applies to all Operating Systems but under Windows the JRE does not have the server HotSpot JVM, only the client one, the JDK has both, and as far as I know all other OS's have both for the JDK and the JRE. The real difference is the the JDK contains the Java compiler, that is the JDK allows you to compile and run Java from source code where as the JRE only allows the running of Java byte code, that is Source that has already been compiled. And yes newer versions bundle a number of extra components, such as NetBeans editor environment and Java in memory Database (derby/cloudscape), but these are optional.

MySQL CURRENT_TIMESTAMP on create and on update

I think you maybe want ts_create as datetime (so rename -> dt_create) and only ts_update as timestamp? This will ensure it remains unchanging once set.

My understanding is that datetime is for manually-controlled values, and timestamp's a bit "special" in that MySQL will maintain it for you. In this case, datetime is therefore a good choice for ts_create.

Embedding DLLs in a compiled executable

You could add the DLLs as embedded resources, and then have your program unpack them into the application directory on startup (after checking to see if they're there already).

Setup files are so easy to make, though, that I don't think this would be worth it.

EDIT: This technique would be easy with .NET assemblies. With non-.NET DLLs it would be a lot more work (you'd have to figure out where to unpack the files and register them and so on).

Can I Set "android:layout_below" at Runtime Programmatically?

Alternatively you can use the views current layout parameters and modify them:

RelativeLayout.LayoutParams params = (RelativeLayout.LayoutParams) viewToLayout.getLayoutParams();
params.addRule(RelativeLayout.BELOW, R.id.below_id);

Lazy Loading vs Eager Loading

Lazy loading will produce several SQL calls while Eager loading may load data with one "more heavy" call (with joins/subqueries).

For example, If there is a high ping between your web and sql servers you would go with Eager loading instead of loading related items 1-by-1 with lazy Loading.

Stopping Excel Macro executution when pressing Esc won't work

I forgot to comment out a line with a MsgBox before executing my macro. Meaning I'd have to click OK over a hundred thousand times. The ESC key was just escaping the message box but not stopping the execution of the macro. Holding the ESC key continuously for a few seconds helped me stop the execution of the code.

OR condition in Regex

I think what you need might be simply:

\d( \w)?

Note that your regex would have worked too if it was written as \d \w|\d instead of \d|\d \w.

This is because in your case, once the regex matches the first option, \d, it ceases to search for a new match, so to speak.

How can I open the interactive matplotlib window in IPython notebook?

A better solution for your problem might be the Charts library. It enables you to use the excellent Highcharts javascript library to make beautiful and interactive plots. Highcharts uses the HTML svg tag so all your charts are actually vector images.

Some features:

  • Vector plots which you can download in .png, .jpg and .svg formats so you will never run into resolution problems
  • Interactive charts (zoom, slide, hover over points, ...)
  • Usable in an IPython notebook
  • Explore hundreds of data structures at the same time using the asynchronous plotting capabilities.

jQuery Toggle Text?

Improving and Simplifying @Nate's answer:

jQuery.fn.extend({

        var that = this;
            if (that.text() != a && that.text() != b){
                that.text(a);
            }
            else
            if (that.text() == a){
                that.text(b);
            }
            else
            if (that.text() == b){
                that.text(a);

How to put a link on a button with bootstrap?

If you don't really need the button element, just move the classes to a regular link:

Powershell script does not run via Scheduled Tasks

Good morning,

I know this is an old thread but I just ran across it while looking for a similar problem - script was running successfully but not doing its work. I can't find the post that helped me but my issue was that I was running the script as the domain admin. When I followed the suggestion of the post and added the domain admin to the local administrator's group it worked. I hope this helps others with the same issue I had.

How to check if a column exists in Pandas

To check if one or more columns all exist, you can use set.issubset, as in:

if set(['A','C']).issubset(df.columns):
   df['sum'] = df['A'] + df['C']

As @brianpck points out in a comment, set([]) can alternatively be constructed with curly braces,

if {'A', 'C'}.issubset(df.columns):

See this question for a discussion of the curly-braces syntax.

Or, you can use a list comprehension, as in:

if all([item in df.columns for item in ['A','C']]):

Batch file include external file for variables

Let's not forget good old parameters. When starting your *.bat or *.cmd file you can add up to nine parameters after the command file name:

call myscript.bat \\path\to\my\file.ext type
call myscript.bat \\path\to\my\file.ext "Del /F"

Example script

The myscript.bat could be something like this:

@Echo Off
Echo The path of this scriptfile %~0
Echo The name of this scriptfile %~n0
Echo The extension of this scriptfile %~x0
Echo.
If "%~2"=="" (
   Echo Parameter missing, quitting.
   GoTo :EOF
)
If Not Exist "%~1" (
   Echo File does not exist, quitting.

)
Echo Going to %~2 this file: %~1
%~2 "%~1"
If %errorlevel%  NEQ 0 (
   Echo Failed to %~2 the %~1.
)
@Echo On

Example output

c:\>c:\bats\myscript.bat \\server\path\x.txt type
The path of this scriptfile c:\bats\myscript.bat
The name of this scriptfile myscript
The extension of this scriptfile .bat

Going to type this file: \\server\path\x.txt

All these answers fail when there are directories in the current directory. Here's something that works:

find . -maxdepth 1 -type f | xargs -x ls -t | awk 'NR>5' | xargs -L1 rm

This:

  1. works when there are directories in the current directory

  2. tries to remove each file even if the previous one couldn't be removed (due to permissions, etc.)

  3. fails safe when the number of files in the current directory is excessive and xargs would normally screw you over (the -x)

  4. doesn't cater for spaces in filenames (perhaps you're using the wrong OS?)

expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before ‘(’ token

This is not only a 'newbie' scenario. I just ran across this compiler message (GCC 5.4) when refactoring a class to remove some constructor parameters. I forgot to update both the declaration and definition, and the compiler spit out this unintuitive error.

The bottom line seems to be this: If the compiler can't match the definition's signature to the declaration's signature it thinks the definition is not a constructor and then doesn't know how to parse the code and displays this error. Which is also what happened for the OP: std::string is not the same type as string so the declaration's signature differed from the definition's and this message was spit out.

As a side note, it would be nice if the compiler looked for almost-matching constructor signatures and upon finding one suggested that the parameters didn't match rather than giving this message.

How to get ° character in a string in python?

Above answers assume that UTF8 encoding can safely be used - this one is specifically targetted for Windows.

The Windows console normaly uses CP850 encoding and not utf-8, so if you try to use a source file utf8-encoded, you get those 2 (incorrect) characters instead of a degree °.

Demonstration (using python 2.7 in a windows console):

deg = u'\xb0` # utf code for degree
print deg.encode('utf8')

effectively outputs .

Fix: just force the correct encoding (or better use unicode):

local_encoding = 'cp850'    # adapt for other encodings
deg = u'\xb0'.encode(local_encoding)
print deg

or if you use a source file that explicitely defines an encoding:

# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
local_encoding = 'cp850'  # adapt for other encodings
print " The current temperature in the country/city you've entered is " + temp_in_county_or_city + "°C.".decode('utf8').encode(local_encoding)

Eventually I found the reason: The accepted answer did work but I had to also restart php-fpm after editing the policy.xml file:

 sudo systemctl restart php7.2-fpm.service

Java regular expression OR operator

You can just use the pipe on its own:

"string1|string2"

for example:

String s = "string1, string2, string3";
System.out.println(s.replaceAll("string1|string2", "blah"));

Output:

blah, blah, string3

The main reason to use parentheses is to limit the scope of the alternatives:

String s = "string1, string2, string3";
System.out.println(s.replaceAll("string(1|2)", "blah"));

has the same output. but if you just do this:

String s = "string1, string2, string3";
System.out.println(s.replaceAll("string1|2", "blah"));

you get:

blah, stringblah, string3

because you've said "string1" or "2".

If you don't want to capture that part of the expression use ?::

String s = "string1, string2, string3";
System.out.println(s.replaceAll("string(?:1|2)", "blah"));

Regex for Mobile Number Validation

Try this regex:

^(\+?\d{1,4}[\s-])?(?!0+\s+,?$)\d{10}\s*,?$

Explanation of the regex using Perl's YAPE is as below:

How do I keep two side-by-side divs the same height?

You could use Faux Columns.

Basically it uses a background image in a containing DIV to simulate the two equal-height-DIVs. Using this technique also allowes you to add shadows, rounded corners, custom borders or other funky patterns to your containers.

Only works with fixed-width boxes though.

Well tested out and properly working in every browser.

How do I programmatically set the value of a select box element using JavaScript?

You can use this function:

selectElement('leaveCode', '11')

function selectElement(id, valueToSelect) {
    let element = document.getElementById(id);
    element.value = valueToSelect;
}

latex tabular width the same as the textwidth

The tabularx package gives you

  1. the total width as a first parameter, and
  2. a new column type X, all X columns will grow to fill up the total width.

For your example:

\usepackage{tabularx}
% ...
\begin{document}
% ...

\begin{tabularx}{\textwidth}{|X|X|X|}
\hline
Input & Output& Action return \\
\hline
\hline
DNF &  simulation & jsp\\
\hline
\end{tabularx}

Rails formatting date

Try this:

created_at.strftime('%FT%T')

It's a time formatting function which provides you a way to present the string representation of the date. (http://ruby-doc.org/core-2.2.1/Time.html#method-i-strftime).

From APIdock:

jQuery Ajax simple call

please set dataType config property in your ajax call and give it another try!

another point is you are using ajax call setup configuration properties as string and it is wrong as reference site

$.ajax({

    url : 'http://voicebunny.comeze.com/index.php',
    type : 'GET',
    data : {
        'numberOfWords' : 10
    },
    dataType:'json',
    success : function(data) {
        alert('Data: '+data);
    },
    error : function(request,error)
    {
        alert("Request: "+JSON.stringify(request));
    }
});

I hope be helpful!

Why can't non-default arguments follow default arguments?

Required arguments (the ones without defaults), must be at the start to allow client code to only supply two. If the optional arguments were at the start, it would be confusing:

fun1("who is who", 3, "jack")

What would that do in your first example? In the last, x is "who is who", y is 3 and a = "jack".

Eclipse not recognizing JVM 1.8

I have had the same problem as noted above. I could not get Eclipse to install because of Java incompatibilities. The sequence I followed goes like this:

  1. Upgraded to MAC OS Sierra
  2. Downloaded the Eclipse installer but was prompted that I needed to instal a legacy Java.
  3. Installed Java 1.6
  4. Was unable to install Eclipse and was prompted that I needed Java 1.7 or greater. Downloaded and installed Java 1.8
  5. Ran the terminal code 'java -version' // this will check your jre version. This showed returned Java 1.6 despite the fact that I had upgraded to 1.8. The Java version listed in the Java control panel said 1.8
  6. Tried multiple downloads of eclipse and Java and multiple restarts always with the same result.
  7. Visited the Oracle web page noted above: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html I could not find the above reference to 8u73 and 8u74 but I did find and option to download 1.8.0_12. I did this. It installed without difficulty, and then I was able to install Eclipse without difficulty.

This took hours of my time. I hope this proves useful.

Android: Create a toggle button with image and no text

I know this is a little late, however for anyone interested, I've created a custom component that is basically a toggle image button, the drawable can have states as well as the background

Writing/outputting HTML strings unescaped

Supposing your content is inside a string named mystring...

You can use:

@Html.Raw(mystring)

Alternatively you can convert your string to HtmlString or any other type that implements IHtmlString in model or directly inline and use regular @:

@{ var myHtmlString = new HtmlString(mystring);}
@myHtmlString

Deserializing a JSON file with JavaScriptSerializer()

Assuming you don't want to create another class, you can always let the deserializer give you a dictionary of key-value-pairs, like so:

string s = //{ "user" : {    "id" : 12345,    "screen_name" : "twitpicuser"}};
var serializer = new JavaScriptSerializer();
var result = serializer.DeserializeObject(s);

You'll get back something, where you can do:

var userId = int.Parse(result["user"]["id"]); // or (int)result["user"]["id"] depending on how the JSON is serialized.
// etc.

Look at result in the debugger to see, what's in there.

Visual Studio: How to break on handled exceptions?

From Visual Studio 2015 and onward, you need to go to the "Exception Settings" dialog (Ctrl+Alt+E) and check off the "Common Language Runtime Exceptions" (or a specific one you want i.e. ArgumentNullException) to make it break on handled exceptions.

Step 1 Step 1 Step 2 Step 2

Is there any "font smoothing" in Google Chrome?

I had the same problem, and I found the solution in this post of Sam Goddard,

The solution if to defined the call to the font twice. First as it is recommended, to be used for all the browsers, and after a particular call only for Chrome with a special media query:

@font-face {
  font-family: 'chunk-webfont';
  src: url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.eot');
  src: url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.eot?#iefix') format('eot'),
  url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.woff') format('woff'),
  url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'),
  url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.svg') format('svg');
  font-weight: normal;
  font-style: normal;
}

@media screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio:0) {
  @font-face {
    font-family: 'chunk-webfont';
    src: url('../../includes/fonts/chunk-webfont.svg') format('svg');
  }
}

enter image description here

With this method the font will render good in all browsers. The only negative point that I found is that the font file is also downloaded twice.

Keyboard shortcuts in WPF

One way is to add your shortcut keys to the commands themselves them as InputGestures. Commands are implemented as RoutedCommands.

This enables the shortcut keys to work even if they're not hooked up to any controls. And since menu items understand keyboard gestures, they'll automatically display your shortcut key in the menu items text, if you hook that command up to your menu item.

  1. Create static attribute to hold a command (preferably as a property in a static class you create for commands - but for a simple example, just using a static attribute in window.cs):

     public static RoutedCommand MyCommand = new RoutedCommand();

  2. Add the shortcut key(s) that should invoke method:

     MyCommand.InputGestures.Add(new KeyGesture(Key.S, ModifierKeys.Control));

  3. Create a command binding that points to your method to call on execute. Put these in the command bindings for the UI element under which it should work for (e.g., the window) and the method:

     <Window.CommandBindings>
         <CommandBinding Command="{x:Static local:MyWindow.MyCommand}" Executed="MyCommandExecuted"/>
     </Window.CommandBindings>

     private void MyCommandExecuted(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { ... }

What is the difference between SQL and MySQL?

SQL - Structured Query Language. It is declarative computer language aimed at querying relational databases.

MySQL is a relational database - a piece of software optimized for data storage and retrieval. There are many such databases - Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite and many others are examples of such.

Converting dict to OrderedDict

Most of the time we go for OrderedDict when we required a custom order not a generic one like ASC etc.

Here is the proposed solution:

import collections
ship = {"NAME": "Albatross",
         "HP":50,
         "BLASTERS":13,
         "THRUSTERS":18,
         "PRICE":250}

ship = collections.OrderedDict(ship)

print ship

new_dict = collections.OrderedDict()
new_dict["NAME"]=ship["NAME"]
new_dict["HP"]=ship["HP"]
new_dict["BLASTERS"]=ship["BLASTERS"]
new_dict["THRUSTERS"]=ship["THRUSTERS"]
new_dict["PRICE"]=ship["PRICE"]

print new_dict

This will be output:

OrderedDict([('PRICE', 250), ('HP', 50), ('NAME', 'Albatross'), ('BLASTERS', 13), ('THRUSTERS', 18)])
OrderedDict([('NAME', 'Albatross'), ('HP', 50), ('BLASTERS', 13), ('THRUSTERS', 18), ('PRICE', 250)])

Note: The new sorted dictionaries maintain their sort order when entries are deleted. But when new keys are added, the keys are appended to the end and the sort is not maintained.(official doc)

How do I `jsonify` a list in Flask?

Flask's jsonify() method now serializes top-level arrays as of this commit, available in Flask 0.11 onwards.

For convenience, you can either pass in a Python list: jsonify([1,2,3]) Or pass in a series of args: jsonify(1,2,3)

Both will be serialized to a JSON top-level array: [1,2,3]

Details here: http://flask.pocoo.org/docs/dev/api/#flask.json.jsonify

    }

Declare myIP and myHost in public Variable and use in any function of the form.

Find package name for Android apps to use Intent to launch Market app from web

This is quite a difficult situation, you can get the package name from the apk file, but i assume you want to do it automatically.

AndroLib has the package names for lots of apps but you would have to parse it as there is no API that i could find. Theres a dev section that may have some tools to help you.

how to check the dtype of a column in python pandas

Asked question title is general, but authors use case stated in the body of the question is specific. So any other answers may be used.

But in order to fully answer the title question it should be clarified that it seems like all of the approaches may fail in some cases and require some rework. I reviewed all of them (and some additional) in decreasing of reliability order (in my opinion):

1. Comparing types directly via == (accepted answer).

Despite the fact that this is accepted answer and has most upvotes count, I think this method should not be used at all. Because in fact this approach is discouraged in python as mentioned several times here.
But if one still want to use it - should be aware of some pandas-specific dtypes like pd.CategoricalDType, pd.PeriodDtype, or pd.IntervalDtype. Here one have to use extra type( ) in order to recognize dtype correctly:

s = pd.Series([pd.Period('2002-03','D'), pd.Period('2012-02-01', 'D')])
s
s.dtype == pd.PeriodDtype   # Not working
type(s.dtype) == pd.PeriodDtype # working

>>> 0    2002-03-01
>>> 1    2012-02-01
>>> dtype: period[D]
>>> False
>>> True

Another caveat here is that type should be pointed out precisely:

s = pd.Series([1,2])
s
s.dtype == np.int64 # Working
s.dtype == np.int32 # Not working

>>> 0    1
>>> 1    2
>>> dtype: int64
>>> True
>>> False

2. isinstance() approach.

This method has not been mentioned in answers so far.

So if direct comparing of types is not a good idea - lets try built-in python function for this purpose, namely - isinstance().
It fails just in the beginning, because assumes that we have some objects, but pd.Series or pd.DataFrame may be used as just empty containers with predefined dtype but no objects in it:

s = pd.Series([], dtype=bool)
s

>>> Series([], dtype: bool)

But if one somehow overcome this issue, and wants to access each object, for example, in the first row and checks its dtype like something like that:

df = pd.DataFrame({'int': [12, 2], 'dt': [pd.Timestamp('2013-01-02'), pd.Timestamp('2016-10-20')]},
                  index = ['A', 'B'])
for col in df.columns:
    df[col].dtype, 'is_int64 = %s' % isinstance(df.loc['A', col], np.int64)

>>> (dtype('int64'), 'is_int64 = True')
>>> (dtype('<M8[ns]'), 'is_int64 = False')

It will be misleading in the case of mixed type of data in single column:

df2 = pd.DataFrame({'data': [12, pd.Timestamp('2013-01-02')]},
                  index = ['A', 'B'])
for col in df2.columns:
    df2[col].dtype, 'is_int64 = %s' % isinstance(df2.loc['A', col], np.int64)

>>> (dtype('O'), 'is_int64 = False')

And last but not least - this method cannot directly recognize Category dtype. As stated in docs:

Returning a single item from categorical data will also return the value, not a categorical of length “1”.

df['int'] = df['int'].astype('category')
for col in df.columns:
    df[col].dtype, 'is_int64 = %s' % isinstance(df.loc['A', col], np.int64)

>>> (CategoricalDtype(categories=[2, 12], ordered=False), 'is_int64 = True')
>>> (dtype('<M8[ns]'), 'is_int64 = False')

So this method is also almost inapplicable.

3. df.dtype.kind approach.

This method yet may work with empty pd.Series or pd.DataFrames but has another problems.

First - it is unable to differ some dtypes:

df = pd.DataFrame({'prd'  :[pd.Period('2002-03','D'), pd.Period('2012-02-01', 'D')],
                   'str'  :['s1', 's2'],
                   'cat'  :[1, -1]})
df['cat'] = df['cat'].astype('category')
for col in df:
    # kind will define all columns as 'Object'
    print (df[col].dtype, df[col].dtype.kind)

>>> period[D] O
>>> object O
>>> category O

Second, what is actually still unclear for me, it even returns on some dtypes None.

4. df.select_dtypes approach.

This is almost what we want. This method designed inside pandas so it handles most corner cases mentioned earlier - empty DataFrames, differs numpy or pandas-specific dtypes well. It works well with single dtype like .select_dtypes('bool'). It may be used even for selecting groups of columns based on dtype:

test = pd.DataFrame({'bool' :[False, True], 'int64':[-1,2], 'int32':[-1,2],'float': [-2.5, 3.4],
                     'compl':np.array([1-1j, 5]),
                     'dt'   :[pd.Timestamp('2013-01-02'), pd.Timestamp('2016-10-20')],
                     'td'   :[pd.Timestamp('2012-03-02')- pd.Timestamp('2016-10-20'),
                              pd.Timestamp('2010-07-12')- pd.Timestamp('2000-11-10')],
                     'prd'  :[pd.Period('2002-03','D'), pd.Period('2012-02-01', 'D')],
                     'intrv':pd.arrays.IntervalArray([pd.Interval(0, 0.1), pd.Interval(1, 5)]),
                     'str'  :['s1', 's2'],
                     'cat'  :[1, -1],
                     'obj'  :[[1,2,3], [5435,35,-52,14]]
                    })
test['int32'] = test['int32'].astype(np.int32)
test['cat'] = test['cat'].astype('category')

Like so, as stated in the docs:

test.select_dtypes('number')

>>>     int64   int32   float   compl   td
>>> 0      -1      -1   -2.5    (1-1j)  -1693 days
>>> 1       2       2    3.4    (5+0j)   3531 days

On may think that here we see first unexpected (at used to be for me: question) results - TimeDelta is included into output DataFrame. But as answered in contrary it should be so, but one have to be aware of it. Note that bool dtype is skipped, that may be also undesired for someone, but it's due to bool and number are in different "subtrees" of numpy dtypes. In case with bool, we may use test.select_dtypes(['bool']) here.

Next restriction of this method is that for current version of pandas (0.24.2), this code: test.select_dtypes('period') will raise NotImplementedError.

And another thing is that it's unable to differ strings from other objects:

test.select_dtypes('object')

>>>     str     obj
>>> 0    s1     [1, 2, 3]
>>> 1    s2     [5435, 35, -52, 14]

But this is, first - already mentioned in the docs. And second - is not the problem of this method, rather the way strings are stored in DataFrame. But anyway this case have to have some post processing.

5. df.api.types.is_XXX_dtype approach.

This one is intended to be most robust and native way to achieve dtype recognition (path of the module where functions resides says by itself) as i suppose. And it works almost perfectly, but still have at least one caveat and still have to somehow distinguish string columns.

Besides, this may be subjective, but this approach also has more 'human-understandable' number dtypes group processing comparing with .select_dtypes('number'):

for col in test.columns:
    if pd.api.types.is_numeric_dtype(test[col]):
        print (test[col].dtype)

>>> bool
>>> int64
>>> int32
>>> float64
>>> complex128

No timedelta and bool is included. Perfect.

My pipeline exploits exactly this functionality at this moment of time, plus a bit of post hand processing.

Output.

Hope I was able to argument the main point - that all discussed approaches may be used, but only pd.DataFrame.select_dtypes() and pd.api.types.is_XXX_dtype should be really considered as the applicable ones.

How do I correct "Commit Failed. File xxx is out of date. xxx path not found."

I think I've seen something similar when folders were moved on the server but the working copies were still bound to the older SVN folder structure. Not sure if anyone moved things around in your trunk before you had the chance to merge the branch.

Is that a possibility?

Count number of rows per group and add result to original data frame

You were just one step away from incorporating the row count into the base dataset.

Using the tidy() function from the broom package, convert the frequency table into a data frame and inner join with df:

df <- data.frame(name=c('black','black','black','red','red'),
                         type=c('chair','chair','sofa','sofa','plate'),
                         num=c(4,5,12,4,3))
library(broom)
df <- merge(df, tidy(table(df[ , c("name","type")])), by=c("name","type"))
df
   name  type num Freq
1 black chair   4    2
2 black chair   5    2
3 black  sofa  12    1
4   red plate   3    1
5   red  sofa   4    1

What is the difference between cache and persist?

With cache(), you use only the default storage level :

  • MEMORY_ONLY for RDD
  • MEMORY_AND_DISK for Dataset

With persist(), you can specify which storage level you want for both RDD and Dataset.

From the official docs:

  • You can mark an RDD to be persisted using the persist() or cache() methods on it.
  • each persisted RDD can be stored using a different storage level
  • The cache() method is a shorthand for using the default storage level, which is StorageLevel.MEMORY_ONLY (store deserialized objects in memory).

Use persist() if you want to assign a storage level other than :

  • MEMORY_ONLY to the RDD
  • or MEMORY_AND_DISK for Dataset

Interesting link for the official documentation : which storage level to choose

How to import a .cer certificate into a java keystore?

Here's how this worked for me:

  1. Save as .txt the certificate data in the following format in a text editor

    -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- [data serialized by microsoft] -----END CERTIFICATE-----

  2. Open chrome browser (this step might work with other browsers too) settings > show advanced settings > HTTPS/SSL > manage certificates Import the .txt in step 1
  3. Select and export that certificate in Base-64 encoded format. Save it as .cer
  4. Now you can use keytool or Portecle to import it to your java keystore

How can I limit the visible options in an HTML <select> dropdown?

Raj_89 solution is the closest to being valid option altough as mentioned by Kevin Swarts in comment it is going to break IE, which for large number of corporate client is an issue (and telling your client that you won't code for IE "because reasons" is unlikely to make your boss happy ;) ).

So I played around with it and here is the problem: the 'onmousedown' event is throwing a fit in IE, so what we want to do, is to prevent default when user clicks the dropdown for the first time. It is important this is only time we do this: if we prevent defult on the next click, when user makes his pick, the onchange event won't fire.

This way we get nice dropdown, no flicker, no breaking down IE - just works... well at least in IE10 and up, and latest relases of all the other major browsers.

<p>Which is the most annoing browser of them all:</p>
<select id="sel" size = "1">
    <option></option>
    <option>IE 9</option>
    <option>IE 10</option>
    <option>Edge</option>
    <option>Firefox</option>
    <option>Chrome</option>
    <option>Opera</option>
</select>

Here is the fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/88cxzhom/27/

Few more things to notice: 1) The absolute positioning and setting z-index is helpful to avoid moving other elements when the options are displayed. 2) Use 'currentTarget' property - this will be the select element across all browsers. While 'target' will be select in IE, the rest will actually allow you to work with option.

Hope this helps someone.

How can I get the assembly file version

UPDATE: As mentioned by Richard Grimes in my cited post, @Iain and @Dmitry Lobanov, my answer is right in theory but wrong in practice.

As I should have remembered from countless books, etc., while one sets these properties using the [assembly: XXXAttribute], they get highjacked by the compiler and placed into the VERSIONINFO resource.

For the above reason, you need to use the approach in @Xiaofu's answer as the attributes are stripped after the signal has been extracted from them.

public static string GetProductVersion()
{
  var attribute = (AssemblyVersionAttribute)Assembly
    .GetExecutingAssembly()
    .GetCustomAttributes( typeof(AssemblyVersionAttribute), true )
    .Single();
   return attribute.InformationalVersion;
}

(From http://bytes.com/groups/net/420417-assemblyversionattribute - as noted there, if you're looking for a different attribute, substitute that into the above)

How to change the version of the 'default gradle wrapper' in IntelliJ IDEA?

The easiest way is to execute the following command from the command line (see Upgrading the Gradle Wrapper in documentation):

./gradlew wrapper --gradle-version 5.5

Moreover, you can use --distribution-type parameter with either bin or all value to choose a distribution type. Use all distribution type to avoid a hint from IntelliJ IDEA or Android Studio that will offer you to download Gradle with sources:

./gradlew wrapper --gradle-version 5.5 --distribution-type all

Or you can create a custom wrapper task

task wrapper(type: Wrapper) {
    gradleVersion = '5.5'
}

and run ./gradlew wrapper.

How can you encode a string to Base64 in JavaScript?

I +1'ed Sunny's answer, but I wanted to contribute back a few changes I made for my own project in case anyone should find it useful. Basically I've just cleaned up the original code a little so JSLint doesn't complain quite as much, and I made the methods marked as private in the comments actually private. I also added two methods I needed in my own project, namely decodeToHex and encodeFromHex.

The code:

var Base64 = (function() {
    "use strict";

    var _keyStr = "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+/=";

    var _utf8_encode = function (string) {

        var utftext = "", c, n;

        string = string.replace(/\r\n/g,"\n");

        for (n = 0; n < string.length; n++) {

            c = string.charCodeAt(n);

            if (c < 128) {

                utftext += String.fromCharCode(c);

            } else if((c > 127) && (c < 2048)) {

                utftext += String.fromCharCode((c >> 6) | 192);
                utftext += String.fromCharCode((c & 63) | 128);

            } else {

                utftext += String.fromCharCode((c >> 12) | 224);
                utftext += String.fromCharCode(((c >> 6) & 63) | 128);
                utftext += String.fromCharCode((c & 63) | 128);

            }

        }

        return utftext;
    };

    var _utf8_decode = function (utftext) {
        var string = "", i = 0, c = 0, c1 = 0, c2 = 0;

        while ( i < utftext.length ) {

            c = utftext.charCodeAt(i);

            if (c < 128) {

                string += String.fromCharCode(c);
                i++;

            } else if((c > 191) && (c < 224)) {

                c1 = utftext.charCodeAt(i+1);
                string += String.fromCharCode(((c & 31) << 6) | (c1 & 63));

jquery.ajax Access-Control-Allow-Origin

http://encosia.com/using-cors-to-access-asp-net-services-across-domains/

refer the above link for more details on Cross domain resource sharing.

you can try using JSONP . If the API is not supporting jsonp, you have to create a service which acts as a middleman between the API and your client. In my case, i have created a asmx service.

sample below:

ajax call:

$(document).ready(function () {
        $.ajax({
            crossDomain: true,
            type:"GET",
            contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
            async:false,
            url: "<your middle man service url here>/GetQuote?callback=?",
            data: { symbol: 'ctsh' },
            dataType: "jsonp",
            jsonpCallback: 'fnsuccesscallback'
        });
    });

service (asmx) which will return jsonp:

[WebMethod]
    [ScriptMethod(UseHttpGet = true, ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
    public void GetQuote(String symbol,string callback)
    {

        WebProxy myProxy = new WebProxy("<proxy url here>", true);

        myProxy.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain");
        StockQuoteProxy.StockQuote SQ = new StockQuoteProxy.StockQuote();
        SQ.Proxy = myProxy;
        String result = SQ.GetQuote(symbol);
        StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
        JavaScriptSerializer js = new JavaScriptSerializer();
        sb.Append(callback + "(");
        sb.Append(js.Serialize(result));
        sb.Append(");");
        Context.Response.Clear();
        Context.Response.ContentType = "application/json";
        Context.Response.Write(sb.ToString());
        Context.Response.End();
    }

get jquery `$(this)` id

this is the DOM element on which the event was hooked. this.id is its ID. No need to wrap it in a jQuery instance to get it, the id property reflects the attribute reliably on all browsers.

$("select").change(function() {
    alert("Changed: " + this.id);
}

Live example

You're not doing this in your code sample, but if you were watching a container with several form elements, that would give you the ID of the container. If you want the ID of the element that triggered the event, you could get that from the event object's target property:

$("#container").change(function(event) {
    alert("Field " + event.target.id + " changed");
});

Live example

(jQuery ensures that the change event bubbles, even on IE where it doesn't natively.)

Is there an easy way to add a border to the top and bottom of an Android View?

So I wanted to do something slightly different: a border on the bottom ONLY, to simulate a ListView divider. I modified Piet Delport's answer and got this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" >
   <item>
      <shape
        android:shape="rectangle">
            <solid android:color="@color/background_trans_light" />

        </shape>
   </item>

    <!-- this mess is what we have to do to get a bottom border only. -->
   <item android:top="-2dp"
         android:left="-2dp"
         android:right="-2dp"
         android:bottom="1px">
      <shape
        android:shape="rectangle">
            <stroke android:width="1dp" android:color="@color/background_trans_mid" />
            <solid android:color="@null" />
        </shape>
   </item>

</layer-list>

Note using px instead of dp to get exactly 1 pixel divider (some phone DPIs will make a 1dp line disappear).

jquery count li elements inside ul -> length?

alert( "Size: " + $( "li" ).size() );

alert( "Size: " + $( "li" ).length );

Both .size() and .length return number of item. but size() method is deprecated (JQ 1.8). .length property can use for instead of size().

also you can use

alert($("ul").children().length);

iOS Simulator to test website on Mac

If you are on Mac OS X just use Simulator. I don't know if it is available by default but it looks like it is a part of the Xcode suite.

Anyway it is free and really useful, it allows you to simulate many popular Apple devices:

Get Category name from Post ID

here you go get_the_category( $post->ID ); will return the array of categories of that post you need to loop through the array

$category_detail=get_the_category('4');//$post->ID
foreach($category_detail as $cd){
echo $cd->cat_name;
}

How do I convert a string to a double in Python?

>>> x = "2342.34"
>>> float(x)
2342.3400000000001

There you go. Use float (which behaves like and has the same precision as a C,C++, or Java double).

Sum all values in every column of a data.frame in R

We can use dplyr to select only numeric columns and purr to get sum for all columns. (can be used to get what ever value for all columns, such as mean, min, max, etc. )

library("dplyr")
library("purrr")

people %>%
    select_if(is.numeric) %>%
    map_dbl(sum)

Or another easy way by only using dplyr

library("dplyr")
people %>%
    summarize_if(is.numeric, sum, na.rm=TRUE)

How can I stop "property does not exist on type JQuery" syntax errors when using Typescript?

You can cast it to

(<any>$('.selector') ).function();

Ex: date picker initialize using jquery

(<any>$('.datepicker') ).datepicker();

Gray out image with CSS?

Considering filter:expression is a Microsoft extension to CSS, so it will only work in Internet Explorer. If you want to grey it out, I would recommend that you set it's opacity to 50% using a bit of javascript.

http://lyxus.net/mv would be a good place to start, because it discusses an opacity script that works with Firefox, Safari, KHTML, Internet Explorer and CSS3 capable browsers.

You might also want to give it a grey border.

Close Bootstrap Modal

some times the solution up doesn't work so you d have properly to remove the in class and add the css display:none manually .

$("#modal").removeClass("in");
$("#modal").css("display","none");

Get type name without full namespace

typeof(T).Name // class name, no namespace
typeof(T).FullName // namespace and class name
typeof(T).Namespace // namespace, no class name

D3.js: How to get the computed width and height for an arbitrary element?

Once I faced with the issue when I did not know which the element currently stored in my variable (svg or html) but I needed to get it width and height. I created this function and want to share it:

function computeDimensions(selection) {
  var dimensions = null;
  var node = selection.node();

  if (node instanceof SVGGraphicsElement) { // check if node is svg element
    dimensions = node.getBBox();
  } else { // else is html element
    dimensions = node.getBoundingClientRect();
  }
  console.log(dimensions);
  return dimensions;
}

Little demo in the hidden snippet below. We handle click on the blue div and on the red svg circle with the same function.

var svg = d3.select('svg')
  .attr('width', 50)
  .attr('height', 50);

function computeDimensions(selection) {
    var dimensions = null;
  var node = selection.node();

  if (node instanceof SVGElement) {
    dimensions = node.getBBox();
  } else {
    dimensions = node.getBoundingClientRect();
  }
  console.clear();
  console.log(dimensions);
  return dimensions;
}

var circle = svg
    .append("circle")
    .attr("r", 20)
    .attr("cx", 30)
    .attr("cy", 30)
    .attr("fill", "red")
    .on("click", function() { computeDimensions(circle); });

var div = d3.selectAll("div").on("click", function() { computeDimensions(div) });

  margin: 0;
  padding: 0;
  border: 0;
}

body {

  margin-right: 30px;
  width: 30px;
  height: 30px;

How do I download/extract font from chrome developers tools?

To get .woff fonts first open the chrome dev tools panel (Ctrl+Shift+i) go to Network and reload the page. There you will see everything the page downloads. Find the .woff file, right click and select Copy response.

The response will be a url so paste it in the navigation bar. A file will be downloaded, just add the .woff extension to it and voila.

Trigger event when user scroll to specific element - with jQuery

You can use jQuery plugin with the inview event like this :

jQuery('.your-class-here').one('inview', function (event, visible) {
    if (visible == true) {
      //Enjoy !
    }
});

Find and copy files

The reason for that error is that you are trying to copy a folder which requires -r option also to cp Thanks

How to avoid the need to specify the WSDL location in a CXF or JAX-WS generated webservice client?

Seriously, the top answer is not working for me. tried cxf.version 2.4.1 and 3.0.10. and generate absolute path with wsdlLocation every times.

My solution is to use the wsdl2java command in the apache-cxf-3.0.10\bin\ with -wsdlLocation classpath:wsdl/QueryService.wsdl.

Detail:

    wsdl2java -encoding utf-8 -p com.jeiao.boss.testQueryService -impl -wsdlLocation classpath:wsdl/testQueryService.wsdl http://127.0.0.1:9999/platf/testQueryService?wsdl
