Programs & Examples On #Dynamic resizing

Dynamic resizing usually refers to on-the-fly resizing by a web server. This feature reduces development time and webmaster overhead by eliminating a common pain point in web development.

Why use def main()?

Without the main sentinel, the code would be executed even if the script were imported as a module.

String date to xmlgregoriancalendar conversion

Found the solution as below.... posting it as it could help somebody else too :)

DateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss");
Date date = format.parse("2014-04-24 11:15:00");

GregorianCalendar cal = new GregorianCalendar();
cal.setTime(date);

XMLGregorianCalendar xmlGregCal =  DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(cal);

System.out.println(xmlGregCal);

Output:

2014-04-24T11:15:00.000+02:00

Connect Android to WiFi Enterprise network EAP(PEAP)

Finally, I've defeated my CiSCO EAP-FAST corporate wifi network, and all our Android devices are now able to connect to it.

The walk-around I've performed in order to gain access to this kind of networks from an Android device are easiest than you can imagine.

There's a Wifi Config Editor in the Google Play Store you can use to "activate" the secondary CISCO Protocols when you are setting up a EAP wifi connection.

Its name is Wifi Config Advanced Editor.

  • First, you have to setup your wireless network manually as close as you can to your "official" corporate wifi parameters.

  • Save it.

  • Go to the WCE and edit the parameters of the network you have created in the previous step.

  • There are 3 or 4 series of settings you should activate in order to force the Android device to use them as a way to connect (the main site I think you want to visit is Enterprise Configuration, but don't forget to check all the parameters to change them if needed.
    As a suggestion, even if you have a WPA2 EAP-FAST Cipher, try LEAP in your setup. It worked for me as a charm.

  • When you finished to edit the config, go to the main Android wifi controller, and force to connect to this network.

  • Do not Edit the network again with the Android wifi interface.

I have tested it on Samsung Galaxy 1 and 2, Note mobile devices, and on a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host - WCF

In my case it was also with serialization. I need to add [KnownType(typeof(...)] for all the classes that could appear in the serialization.

How to generate JAXB classes from XSD?

XJC is included in the bin directory in the JDK starting with Java SE 6. For an example see:

The contents of the blog are the following:

Processing Atom Feeds with JAXB Atom is an XML format for representing web feeds. A standard format allows reader applications to display feeds from different sources. In this example we will process the Atom feed for this blog.

Demo

In this example we will use JAXB to convert the Atom XML feed corresponding to this blog to objects and then back to XML.

import java.io.InputStream;
import java.net.URL;
import javax.xml.bind.*;
import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource;
import org.w3._2005.atom.FeedType;

public class Demo {

    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance("org.w3._2005.atom");

        Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jc.createUnmarshaller();
        URL url = new URL("http://bdoughan.blogspot.com/atom.xml");
        InputStream xml = url.openStream();
        JAXBElement<feedtype> feed = unmarshaller.unmarshal(new StreamSource(xml), FeedType.class);
        xml.close();

        Marshaller marshaller = jc.createMarshaller();
        marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true);
        marshaller.marshal(feed, System.out);
    }

}

JAXB Model

The following model was generated by the schema to Java compiler (XJC). I have omitted the get/set methods and comments to save space.

xjc -d generated http://www.kbcafe.com/rss/atom.xsd.xml

How can I create a dynamically sized array of structs?

Another option for you is a linked list. You'll need to analyze how your program will use the data structure, if you don't need random access it could be faster than reallocating.

How can I store and retrieve images from a MySQL database using PHP?

Personally i wouldnt store the image in the database, Instead put it in a folder not accessable from outside, and use the database for keeping track of its location. keeps database size down and you can just include it by using PHP. There would be no way without PHP to access that image then

How to delete all files older than 3 days when "Argument list too long"?

To delete all files and directories within the current directory:

find . -mtime +3 | xargs rm -Rf

Or alternatively, more in line with the OP's original command:

find . -mtime +3 -exec rm -Rf -- {} \;

Checking if a character is a special character in Java

You can use regular expressions.

String input = ...
if (input.matches("[^a-zA-Z0-9 ]"))

If your definition of a 'special character' is simply anything that doesn't apply to your other filters that you already have, then you can simply add an else. Also note that you have to use else if in this case:

if(c == ' ') {
    blankCount++;
} else if (Character.isDigit(c)) {
    digitCount++;
} else if (Character.isLetter(c)) {
    letterCount++;
} else {
  specialcharCount++;
}

Select the top N values by group

Just sort by whatever (mpg for example, question is not clear on this)

mt <- mtcars[order(mtcars$mpg), ]

then use the by function to get the top n rows in each group

d <- by(mt, mt["cyl"], head, n=4)

If you want the result to be a data.frame:

Reduce(rbind, d)

Edit: Handling ties is more difficult, but if all ties are desired:

by(mt, mt["cyl"], function(x) x[rank(x$mpg) %in% sort(unique(rank(x$mpg)))[1:4], ])

Another approach is to break ties based on some other information, e.g.,

mt <- mtcars[order(mtcars$mpg, mtcars$hp), ]
by(mt, mt["cyl"], head, n=4)

How to declare string constants in JavaScript?

Use global namespace or global object like Constants.

var Constants = {};

And using defineObject write function which will add all properties to that object and assign value to it.

function createConstant (prop, value) {
    Object.defineProperty(Constants , prop, {
      value: value,
      writable: false
   });
};

What is the difference between IQueryable<T> and IEnumerable<T>?

The primary difference is that the LINQ operators for IQueryable<T> take Expression objects instead of delegates, meaning the custom query logic it receives, e.g., a predicate or value selector, is in the form of an expression tree instead of a delegate to a method.

  • IEnumerable<T> is great for working with sequences that are iterated in-memory, but
  • IQueryable<T> allows for out-of memory things like a remote data source, such as a database or web service.

Query execution:

  • Where the execution of a query is going to be performed "in process", typically all that's required is the code (as code) to execute each part of the query.

  • Where the execution will be performed out-of-process, the logic of the query has to be represented in data such that the LINQ provider can convert it into the appropriate form for the out-of-memory execution - whether that's an LDAP query, SQL or whatever.

I have been using Eclipse 3.6 with ADT for the past three months for developing applications on Android. I haven't faced any issues so far. It really good and working fine.

How to conditionally take action if FINDSTR fails to find a string

I tried to get this working using FINDSTR, but for some reason my "debugging" command always output an error level of 0:

ECHO %ERRORLEVEL%

My workaround is to use Grep from Cygwin, which outputs the right errorlevel (it will give an errorlevel greater than 0) if a string is not found:

dir c:\*.tib >out 2>>&1
grep "1 File(s)" out
IF %ERRORLEVEL% NEQ 0 "Run other commands" ELSE "Run Errorlevel 0 commands"

Cygwin's grep will also output errorlevel 2 if the file is not found. Here's the hash from my version:

C:\temp\temp>grep --version grep (GNU grep) 2.4.2

C:\cygwin64\bin>md5sum grep.exe c0a50e9c731955628ab66235d10cea23 *grep.exe

C:\cygwin64\bin>sha1sum grep.exe ff43a335bbec71cfe99ce8d5cb4e7c1ecdb3db5c *grep.exe

Hive Alter table change Column Name

In the comments @libjack mentioned a point which is really important. I would like to illustrate more into it. First, we can check what are the columns of our table by describe <table_name>; command. enter image description here

there is a double-column called _c1 and such columns are created by the hive itself when we moving data from one table to another. To address these columns we need to write it inside backticks

`_c1`

Finally, the ALTER command will be,

ALTER TABLE <table_namr> CHANGE `<system_genarated_column_name>` <new_column_name> <data_type>;

How to Insert BOOL Value to MySQL Database

TRUE and FALSE are keywords, and should not be quoted as strings:

INSERT INTO first VALUES (NULL, 'G22', TRUE);
INSERT INTO first VALUES (NULL, 'G23', FALSE);

By quoting them as strings, MySQL will then cast them to their integer equivalent (since booleans are really just a one-byte INT in MySQL), which translates into zero for any non-numeric string. Thus, you get 0 for both values in your table.

Non-numeric strings cast to zero:

mysql> SELECT CAST('TRUE' AS SIGNED), CAST('FALSE' AS SIGNED), CAST('12345' AS SIGNED);
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+
| CAST('TRUE' AS SIGNED) | CAST('FALSE' AS SIGNED) | CAST('12345' AS SIGNED) |
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+
|                      0 |                       0 |                   12345 |
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+

But the keywords return their corresponding INT representation:

mysql> SELECT TRUE, FALSE;
+------+-------+
| TRUE | FALSE |
+------+-------+
|    1 |     0 |
+------+-------+

Note also, that I have replaced your double-quotes with single quotes as are more standard SQL string enclosures. Finally, I have replaced your empty strings for id with NULL. The empty string may issue a warning.

Can a CSV file have a comment?

If you're parsing the file with a FOR command in a batch file a semicolon works (;)

REM test.bat contents

for /F "tokens=1-3 delims=," %%a in (test.csv) do @Echo %%a, %%b, %%c

;test.csv contents (this line is a comment)

;1,ignore this line,no it shouldn't

2,parse this line,yes it should!

;3,ignore this line,no it shouldn't

4,parse this line,yes it should!

OUTPUT:

how to access the command line for xampp on windows

  • You can set environment variables as mentioned in the other answers (like here)

    or

  • you can open Start > CMD as administrator and write

    C:\xampp\php phpfile.php

adb is not recognized as internal or external command on windows

You have two ways:

First go to the particular path of Android SDK:

1) Open your command prompt and traverse to the platform-tools directory through it such as

$ cd Frameworks\Android-Sdk\platform-tools

2) Run your adb commands now such as to know that your adb is working properly :

$ adb devices OR adb logcat OR simply adb

Second way is :

1) Right click on your My Computer.

2) Open Environment variables.

3) Add new variable to your System PATH variable(Add if not exist otherwise no need to add new variable if already exist).

4) Add path of platform-tools directory to as value of this variable such as C:\Program Files\android-sdk\platform-tools.

5) Restart your computer once.

6) Now run the above adb commands such adb devices or other adb commands from anywhere in command prompt.

Also on you can fire a command on terminal setx PATH "%PATH%;C:\Program Files\android-sdk\platform-tools"

SQL Server IIF vs CASE

IIF is the same as CASE WHEN <Condition> THEN <true part> ELSE <false part> END. The query plan will be the same. It is, perhaps, "syntactical sugar" as initially implemented.

CASE is portable across all SQL platforms whereas IIF is SQL SERVER 2012+ specific.

How do I convert from stringstream to string in C++?

Use the .str()-method:

Manages the contents of the underlying string object.

1) Returns a copy of the underlying string as if by calling rdbuf()->str().

2) Replaces the contents of the underlying string as if by calling rdbuf()->str(new_str)...

Notes

The copy of the underlying string returned by str is a temporary object that will be destructed at the end of the expression, so directly calling c_str() on the result of str() (for example in auto *ptr = out.str().c_str();) results in a dangling pointer...

Change the background color of a pop-up dialog

You can use a custom style:

  <!-- Alert Dialog -->
  <style name="ThemeOverlay.MaterialComponents.MaterialAlertDialog_Background" parent="@style/ThemeOverlay.MaterialComponents.MaterialAlertDialog">
    <!-- Background Color-->
    <item name="android:background">@color/.....</item>
    <!-- Text Color for title and message -->
    <item name="colorOnSurface">@color/......</item>
    <!-- Style for positive button -->
    <item name="buttonBarPositiveButtonStyle">@style/PositiveButtonStyle</item>
    <!-- Style for negative button -->
    <item name="buttonBarNegativeButtonStyle">@style/NegativeButtonStyle</item>
  </style>

  <style name="PositiveButtonStyle" parent="@style/Widget.MaterialComponents.Button">
    <!-- text color for the button -->
    <item name="android:textColor">@color/.....</item>
    <!-- Background tint for the button -->
    <item name="backgroundTint">@color/primaryDarkColor</item>
  </style>

And just use the default MaterialAlertDialogBuilder:

    new MaterialAlertDialogBuilder(AlertDialogActivity.this,
        R.style.ThemeOverlay_MaterialComponents_MaterialAlertDialog_Background)
        .setTitle("Dialog")
        .setMessage("Message...  ....")
        .setPositiveButton("Ok", /* listener = */ null)
        .show();

Handling onchange event in HTML.DropDownList Razor MVC

The way of dknaack does not work for me, I found this solution as well:

@Html.DropDownList("Chapters", ViewBag.Chapters as SelectList,
                    "Select chapter", new { @onchange = "location = this.value;" })

where

@Html.DropDownList(controlName, ViewBag.property + cast, "Default value", @onchange event)

In the controller you can add:

DbModel db = new DbModel(); //entity model of Entity Framework

ViewBag.Chapters = new SelectList(db.T_Chapter, "Id", "Name");

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (File is created but contains nothing)

You are writing to the file prior to closing your filestream:

using(FileStream fs=new FileStream(path,FileMode.OpenOrCreate))
using (StreamWriter str=new StreamWriter(fs))
{
   str.BaseStream.Seek(0,SeekOrigin.End);
   str.Write("mytext.txt.........................");
   str.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString()+" "+DateTime.Now.ToLongDateString());
   string addtext="this line is added"+Environment.NewLine;

   str.Flush();

}

File.AppendAllText(path,addtext);  //Exception occurrs ??????????
string readtext=File.ReadAllText(path);
Console.WriteLine(readtext);

The above code should work, using the methods you are currently using. You should also look into the using statement and wrap your streams in a using block.

How to uninstall/upgrade Angular CLI?

None of the above solutions alone worked for me. On Windows 7 this worked:

Install Rapid Environment Editor and remove any entries for node, npm, angular-cli or @angular/cli

Uninstall node.js and reinstall. Run Rapid Environment Editor again and make sure node.js and npm are in your System or User path. Uninstall any existing ng versions with:

npm uninstall -g angular-cli

npm uninstall -g @angular/cli

npm cache clean

Delete the C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\npm\node_modules\@angular folder.

Reboot, then, finally, run:

npm install -g @angular/cli

Then hold your breath and run ng -v. If you're lucky, you'll get some love. Hold your breath henceforward every time you run the ng command, because 'command not found' has magically reappeared for me several times after ng was running fine and I thought the problem was solved.

How can I INSERT data into two tables simultaneously in SQL Server?

I was also struggling with this problem, and find that the best way is to use a CURSOR.

I have tried Denis solution with OUTPUT, but as he mentiond, it's impossible to output external columns in an insert statement, and the MERGE can't work when insert multiple rows by select.

So, i've used a CURSOR, for each row in the outer table, i've done a INSERT, then use the @@IDENTITY for another INSERT.

DECLARE @OuterID int

DECLARE MY_CURSOR CURSOR
  LOCAL STATIC READ_ONLY FORWARD_ONLY
FOR
SELECT  ID FROM   [external_Table]

OPEN MY_CURSOR
FETCH NEXT FROM MY_CURSOR INTO @OuterID

WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0
BEGIN
INSERT INTO [Table]   (data)
    SELECT data
    FROM     [external_Table] where ID = @OuterID

    INSERT INTO [second_table] (FK,OuterID)
    VALUES(@OuterID,@@identity)

    FETCH NEXT FROM MY_CURSOR INTO @OuterID
END
CLOSE MY_CURSOR
DEALLOCATE MY_CURSOR

Vertical align middle with Bootstrap responsive grid

    word-spacing: -.43em;
}

    vertical-align: middle;
}

Note: .col-md-4 could be any grid column, its just an example here.

What is the use of a private static variable in Java?

ThreadLocal variables are typically implemented as private static. In this way, they are not bound to the class and each thread has its own reference to its own "ThreadLocal" object.

Is it possible to get the index you're sorting over in Underscore.js?

I think it's worth mentioning how the Underscore's _.each() works internally. The _.each(list, iteratee) checks if the passed list is an array object, or an object.

In the case that the list is an array, iteratee arguments will be a list element and index as in the following example:

var a = ['I', 'like', 'pancakes', 'a', 'lot', '.'];
_.each( a, function(v, k) { console.log( k + " " + v); });

0 I
1 like
2 pancakes
3 a
4 lot
5 .

On the other hand, if the list argument is an object the iteratee will take a list element and a key:

var o = {name: 'mike', lastname: 'doe', age: 21};
_.each( o, function(v, k) { console.log( k + " " + v); });

name mike
lastname doe
age 21

For reference this is the _.each() code from Underscore.js 1.8.3

_.each = _.forEach = function(obj, iteratee, context) {
   iteratee = optimizeCb(iteratee, context);
   var i, length;
   if (isArrayLike(obj)) {
      for (i = 0, length = obj.length; i < length; i++) {
         iteratee(obj[i], i, obj);
      }
   } else {
      var keys = _.keys(obj);
      for (i = 0, length = keys.length; i < length; i++) {
         iteratee(obj[keys[i]], keys[i], obj);
      }
   }
   return obj;
};

How can I connect to MySQL in Python 3 on Windows?

On my mac os maverick i try this:

After that, enter in the python3 interpreter and type:

  1. import pymysql. If there is no error your installation is ok. For verification write a script to connect to mysql with this form:

  2. # a simple script for MySQL connection import pymysql db = pymysql.connect(host="localhost", user="root", passwd="*", db="biblioteca") #Sure, this is information for my db # close the connection db.close ()*

Give it a name ("con.py" for example) and save it on desktop. In Terminal type "cd desktop" and then $python con.py If there is no error, you are connected with MySQL server. Good luck!

Convert HTML to PDF in .NET

Another suggestion it to try the solution by https://grabz.it.

They provide a nice .NET API to catch screenshots and manipulate it in an easy and flexible approach.

To use it in your app you will need to first get key + secret and download the .NET SDK (it's free).

Now a short example of using it.

To use the API you will first need to create an instance of the GrabzItClient class, passing your application key and application secret from your GrabzIt account to the constructor, as shown in the below example:

//Create the GrabzItClient class
//Replace "APPLICATION KEY", "APPLICATION SECRET" with the values from your account!
private GrabzItClient grabzIt = GrabzItClient.Create("Sign in to view your Application Key", "Sign in to view your Application Secret");

Now, to convert the HTML to PDF all you need to do it:

grabzIt.HTMLToPDF("<html><body><h1>Hello World!</h1></body></html>");

You can convert to image as well:

grabzIt.HTMLToImage("<html><body><h1>Hello World!</h1></body></html>");

Next you need to save the image. You can use one of the two save methods available, Save if publicly accessible callback handle available and SaveTo if not. Check the documentation for details.

UnicodeDecodeError when reading CSV file in Pandas with Python

read_csv takes an encoding option to deal with files in different formats. I mostly use read_csv('file', encoding = "ISO-8859-1"), or alternatively encoding = "utf-8" for reading, and generally utf-8 for to_csv.

You can also use one of several alias options like 'latin' instead of 'ISO-8859-1' (see python docs, also for numerous other encodings you may encounter).

See relevant Pandas documentation, python docs examples on csv files, and plenty of related questions here on SO. A good background resource is What every developer should know about unicode and character sets.

To detect the encoding (assuming the file contains non-ascii characters), you can use enca (see man page) or file -i (linux) or file -I (osx) (see man page).

Ignore files that have already been committed to a Git repository

Remove trailing whitespace in .gitignore

Also, make sure you have no trailing whitespace in your .gitignore. I got to this question because I was searching for an answer, then I had a funny feeling I should open the editor instead of just cat'ing .gitignore. Removed a single extra space from the end and poof it works now :)

How to remove td border with html?

Surround it with a div and give it a border and remove the border from the table

<div style="border: 1px solid black">
    <table border="0">
        <tr>
            <td>one</td>
            <td>two</td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
            <td>one</td>
            <td>two</td>
        </tr>
    </table>
</div>

You can check the working fiddle here

As per your updated question .... where you want to add or remove borders. You should remove borders from the html table first and then do the following

<td style="border-top: 1px solid black">

Assuming like you only want the top border. Similarly you have to do for others. Better way create four css class...

.topBorderOnly {
    border-top: 1px solid black;
}

.bottomBorderOnly {
    border-bottom: 1px solid black;
}

Then add the css to your code depending on the requirements.

<td class="topBorderOnly bottomBorderOnly">

This will add both top and bottom border, similarly do for the rest.

Retrieving a property of a JSON object by index?

Objects in JavaScript are collections of unordered properties. Objects are hashtables.

If you want your properties to be in alphabetical order, one possible solution would be to create an index for your properties in a separate array. Just a few hours ago, I answered a question on Stack Overflow which you may want to check out:

Here's a quick adaptation for your object1:

var obj = {
    "set1": [1, 2, 3],
    "set2": [4, 5, 6, 7, 8],
    "set3": [9, 10, 11, 12]
};

var index = [];

// build the index
for (var x in obj) {
   index.push(x);
}

// sort the index
index.sort(function (a, b) {
   return a == b ? 0 : (a > b ? 1 : -1);
});

Then you would be able to do the following:

console.log(obj[index[1]]);

The answer I cited earlier proposes a reusable solution to iterate over such an object. That is unless you can change your JSON to as @Jacob Relkin suggested in the other answer, which could be easier.

1 You may want to use the hasOwnProperty() method to ensure that the properties belong to your object and are not inherited from Object.prototype.

How can I resolve "Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages" error?

Were those dev-masters added automatically? Avoid them as unnecessary version constraints, for 'any suitable version' use "*", or "@dev" if you don't mind dev packages. My guess is that Entrust is the potential troublemaker.

Also, "minimum-stability": "stable" imposes additional constraints, and

"minimum-stability": "dev",
"prefer-stable": true

is more conflict-free, consider it a rule of thumb.

What does the M stand for in C# Decimal literal notation?

From C# specifications:

var f = 0f; // float
var d = 0d; // double
var m = 0m; // decimal (money)
var u = 0u; // unsigned int
var l = 0l; // long
var ul = 0ul; // unsigned long

Note that you can use an uppercase or lowercase notation.

"Unable to launch the IIS Express Web server" error

The one thing that fixed this for me was using the following line in the <bindings> section for my site in the applicationhost.config file:

<bindings>
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:8099:" />
</bindings>

The key was to simply remove localhost. Don't replace it with an asterisk, don't replace it with an IP or a computer name. Just leave it blank after the colon.

After doing this, I don't need to run Visual Studio as administrator, and I can freely change the Project Url in the project properties to the local IP or computer name. I then set up port forwarding and it was accessible to the Internet.

EDIT:

I've discovered one more quirk that is important to getting IIS Express to properly serve external requests.

  1. If you are running Visual Studio/IIS Express as an administrator, you must not add a reservation to HTTP.SYS using the "netsh http add urlacl ..." command. Doing so will cause an HTTP 503 Service Unavailable error. Delete any reservations you've made in the URLACL to fix this.

  2. If you are not running Visual Studio/IIS Express as an administrator, you must add a reservation to the URLACL.

How do you get current active/default Environment profile programmatically in Spring?

Extending User1648825's nice simple answer (I can't comment and my edit was rejected):

@Value("${spring.profiles.active}")
private String activeProfile;

This may throw an IllegalArgumentException if no profiles are set (I get a null value). This may be a Good Thing if you need it to be set; if not use the 'default' syntax for @Value, ie:

@Value("${spring.profiles.active:Unknown}")
private String activeProfile;

...activeProfile now contains 'Unknown' if spring.profiles.active could not be resolved

Use .htaccess to redirect HTTP to HTTPs

The above final .htaccess and Test A,B,C,D,E did not work for me. I just used below 2 lines code and it works in my WordPress website:

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.thehotskills.com/$1 [R=301,L]

I'm not sure where I was making the mistake but this page helped me out.

php mysqli_connect: authentication method unknown to the client [caching_sha2_password]

Like many many people, I have had the same problem. Although the user is set to use mysql_native_password, and I can connect from the command line, the only way I could get mysqli() to connect is to add

default-authentication-plugin=mysql_native_password

to the [mysqld] section of, in my setup on ubuntu 19.10, /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf

AsyncTask Android example

I would recommend making your life easier by using this library for background works:

https://github.com/Arasthel/AsyncJobLibrary

It's this simple...

AsyncJob.doInBackground(new AsyncJob.OnBackgroundJob() {

    @Override
    public void doOnBackground() {
        startRecording();
    }
});

Expected block end YAML error

I would like to make this answer for meaningful, so the same kind of erroneous user can enjoy without feel any hassle.

Actually, i was getting the same error but for the different reason, in my case I didn't used any kind of quoted, still getting the same error like expected <block end>, but found BlockMappingStart.

I have solved it by fixing, the Alignment issue inside the same .yml file.

If we don't manage the proper 'tab-space(Keyboard key)' for maintaining successor or ancestor then we have to phase such kind of things.

Now i am doing well.

Starting with C# 7.3 (available with Visual Studio 2017 = v15.7), this code is now completely valid:

public static TEnum Parse<TEnum>(string value)
    where TEnum : struct, Enum
{
 ...
}

C# = 7.2

You can have a real compiler enforced enum constraint by abusing constraint inheritance. The following code specifies both a class and a struct constraints at the same time:

public abstract class EnumClassUtils<TClass>
where TClass : class
{

    public static TEnum Parse<TEnum>(string value)
    where TEnum : struct, TClass
    {
        return (TEnum) Enum.Parse(typeof(TEnum), value);
    }

}

public class EnumUtils : EnumClassUtils<Enum>
{
}

Usage:

EnumUtils.Parse<SomeEnum>("value");

Note: this is specifically stated in the C# 5.0 language specification:

If type parameter S depends on type parameter T then: [...] It is valid for S to have the value type constraint and T to have the reference type constraint. Effectively this limits T to the types System.Object, System.ValueType, System.Enum, and any interface type.

How do I set response headers in Flask?

Use make_response of Flask something like

@app.route("/")
def home():
    resp = make_response("hello") #here you could use make_response(render_template(...)) too
    resp.headers['Access-Control-Allow-Origin'] = '*'
    return resp

From flask docs,

flask.make_response(*args)

Sometimes it is necessary to set additional headers in a view. Because views do not have to return response objects but can return a value that is converted into a response object by Flask itself, it becomes tricky to add headers to it. This function can be called instead of using a return and you will get a response object which you can use to attach headers.

django no such table:

. first step delete db.sqlite3 file . go to terminal and run commands:

  • python manage.py makemigrations
  • python manage.py migrate
  • python manage.py createsuperuser
  • python manage.py runserver . go to admin page every thing ok now.

Pass react component as props

Using this.props.children is the idiomatic way to pass instantiated components to a react component

const Label = props => <span>{props.children}</span>
const Tab = props => <div>{props.children}</div>
const Page = () => <Tab><Label>Foo</Label></Tab>

When you pass a component as a parameter directly, you pass it uninstantiated and instantiate it by retrieving it from the props. This is an idiomatic way of passing down component classes which will then be instantiated by the components down the tree (e.g. if a component uses custom styles on a tag, but it wants to let the consumer choose whether that tag is a div or span):

const Label = props => <span>{props.children}</span>
const Button = props => {
    const Inner = props.inner; // Note: variable name _must_ start with a capital letter
    return <button><Inner>Foo</Inner></button>
}
const Page = () => <Button inner={Label}/>

If what you want to do is to pass a children-like parameter as a prop, you can do that:

const Label = props => <span>{props.content}</span>
const Tab = props => <div>{props.content}</div>
const Page = () => <Tab content={<Label content='Foo' />} />

After all, properties in React are just regular JavaScript object properties and can hold any value - be it a string, function or a complex object.

Best way to find the intersection of multiple sets?

Jean-François Fabre set.intesection(*list_of_sets) answer is definetly the most Pyhtonic and is rightly the accepted answer.

For those that want to use reduce, the following will also work:

reduce(set.intersection, list_of_sets)

Ruby 2.0.0p0 IRB warning: "DL is deprecated, please use Fiddle"

I ran into this myself when I wanted to make a thor command under Windows.

To avoid having that message output everytime I ran my thor application I temporarily muted warnings while loading thor:

begin
  original_verbose = $VERBOSE
  $VERBOSE = nil
  require "thor"
ensure
  $VERBOSE = original_verbose
end

That saved me from having to edit third party source files.

Android Studio - Emulator - eglSurfaceAttrib not implemented

Fix: Unlock your device before running it.

Hi Guys: Think I may have a fix for this:

Sounds ridiculous but try unlocking your Virtual Device; i.e. use your mouse to swipe and open. Your app should then work!!

I need a Nodejs scheduler that allows for tasks at different intervals

I have written a node module that provides a wrapper around setInterval using moment durations providing a declarative interface:

npm install every-moment

var every = require('every-moment');

var timer = every(5, 'seconds', function() {
    console.log(this.duration);
});

every(2, 'weeks', function() {
    console.log(this.duration);
    timer.stop();
    this.set(1, 'week');
    this.start();
});

How to dynamically create a class?

For those wanting to create a dynamic class just properties (i.e. POCO), and create a list of this class. Using the code provided later, this will create a dynamic class and create a list of this.

var properties = new List<DynamicTypeProperty>()
{
    new DynamicTypeProperty("doubleProperty", typeof(double)),
    new DynamicTypeProperty("stringProperty", typeof(string))
};

// create the new type
var dynamicType = DynamicType.CreateDynamicType(properties);
// create a list of the new type
var dynamicList = DynamicType.CreateDynamicList(dynamicType);

// get an action that will add to the list
var addAction = DynamicType.GetAddAction(dynamicList);

// call the action, with an object[] containing parameters in exact order added
addAction.Invoke(new object[] {1.1, "item1"});
addAction.Invoke(new object[] {2.1, "item2"});
addAction.Invoke(new object[] {3.1, "item3"});

Here are the classes that the previous code uses.

Note: You'll also need to reference the Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.CSharp library.

       /// <summary>

What is the (function() { } )() construct in JavaScript?

In ES6 syntax (posting for myself, as I keep landing on this page looking for a quick example):

// simple
const simpleNumber = (() => {
  return true ? 1 : 2
})()

// with param
const isPositiveNumber = ((number) => {
  return number > 0 ? true : false
})(4)

Drop all the tables, stored procedures, triggers, constraints and all the dependencies in one sql statement

There is no single statement that can be used to achieve this aim.

You could of course create yourself a stored procedure that you could use to perform these various administrative tasks.

You could then execute the procedure using this single statement.

The easiest way to fix this is to add a new factor to your column. Use the levels function to determine how many factors you have and then add a new factor.

How do I redirect to another webpage?

Using location.replace() will redirect you, but without saving the history of the previous page. This is better to use when a form is submitted.

But when you want to keep your history you have to use location.href=//path.

Examples:

// Form with steps
document.getElementById('#next').onclick = function() {
   window.location.href='/step2' // Iteration of steps;
}

// Go to next step
document.getElementById('#back').onclick = function() {
   window.history.back();
}

// Finish
document.getElementById('#finish').onclick = function() {
   window.location.href = '/success';
}

// On success page
window.onload = function() {
    setTimeout(function() {
       window.location.replace('/home'); // I can't go back to success page by pressing the back button
    },3000);
}

How to unzip a file in Powershell?

In PowerShell v5+, there is an Expand-Archive command (as well as Compress-Archive) built in:

Expand-Archive c:\a.zip -DestinationPath c:\a

The system cannot find the file specified. in Visual Studio

The system cannot find the file specified usually means the build failed (which it will for your code as you're missing a # infront of include, you have a stray >> at the end of your cout line and you need std:: infront of cout) but you have the 'run anyway' option checked which means it runs an executable that doesn't exist. Hit F7 to just do a build and make sure it says '0 errors' before you try running it.

Code which builds and runs:

#include <iostream>

int main()
{
   std::cout << "Hello World";
   system("pause");
   return 0;
}

Dynamically create Bootstrap alerts box through JavaScript

I created this VERY SIMPLE and basic plugin:

(function($){
    $.fn.extend({
        bs_alert: function(message, title){
            var cls='alert-danger';
            var html='<div class="alert '+cls+' alert-dismissable"><button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="alert" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>';
            if(typeof title!=='undefined' &&  title!==''){
                html+='<h4>'+title+'</h4>';
            }
            html+='<span>'+message+'</span></div>';
            $(this).html(html);
        },
        bs_warning: function(message, title){
            var cls='alert-warning';
            var html='<div class="alert '+cls+' alert-dismissable"><button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="alert" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>';
            if(typeof title!=='undefined' &&  title!==''){
                html+='<h4>'+title+'</h4>';
            }
            html+='<span>'+message+'</span></div>';
            $(this).html(html);
        },
        bs_info: function(message, title){
            var cls='alert-info';
            var html='<div class="alert '+cls+' alert-dismissable"><button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="alert" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>';
            if(typeof title!=='undefined' &&  title!==''){
                html+='<h4>'+title+'</h4>';
            }
            html+='<span>'+message+'</span></div>';
            $(this).html(html);
        }
    });
})(jQuery);

Usage is

<div id="error_container"></div>
<script>
$('#error_container').bs_alert('YOUR ERROR MESSAGE HERE !!', 'title');
</script>

first plugin EVER and it can be easily made better

How to convert std::string to lower case?

Since none of the answers mentioned the upcoming Ranges library, which is available in the standard library since C++20, and currently separately available on GitHub as range-v3, I would like to add a way to perform this conversion using it.

To modify the string in-place:

str |= action::transform([](unsigned char c){ return std::tolower(c); });

To generate a new string:

auto new_string = original_string
    | view::transform([](unsigned char c){ return std::tolower(c); });

(Don't forget to #include <cctype> and the required Ranges headers.)

Note: the use of unsigned char as the argument to the lambda is inspired by cppreference, which states:

Like all other functions from <cctype>, the behavior of std::tolower is undefined if the argument's value is neither representable as unsigned char nor equal to EOF. To use these functions safely with plain chars (or signed chars), the argument should first be converted to unsigned char:

char my_tolower(char ch)
{
    return static_cast<char>(std::tolower(static_cast<unsigned char>(ch)));
}

Similarly, they should not be directly used with standard algorithms when the iterator's value type is char or signed char. Instead, convert the value to unsigned char first:

std::string str_tolower(std::string s) {
    std::transform(s.begin(), s.end(), s.begin(),
                // static_cast<int(*)(int)>(std::tolower)         // wrong
                // [](int c){ return std::tolower(c); }           // wrong
                // [](char c){ return std::tolower(c); }          // wrong
                   [](unsigned char c){ return std::tolower(c); } // correct
                  );
    return s;
}

AngularJS HTTP post to PHP and undefined

You need to deserialize your form data before passing it as the second parameter to .post (). You can achieve this using jQuery's $.param (data) method. Then you will be able to on server side to reference it like $.POST ['email'];

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: contains a path separator

The solution is:

The openFileInput method doesn't accept path separators.

Don't forget to

at the end.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/juli/logging/LogFactory

I found the solution here: http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/391114-tomcat6-eclipse-not-working.html

  1. In Eclipse, Open the "Server" tab.
  2. Double click on the "Tomcat6" entry to see the configuration.
  3. Then click on the "Open launch configuration" link in the "General information" block.
  4. In the dialog, select the "Classpath" tab.
  5. Click the "Add external jar" button.
  6. Select the file "/usr/share/tomcat6/bin/tomcat-juli.jar"
  7. Close the dialog.
  8. Start tomcat 6 from Eclipse.

Hopefully posting it here will help some poor soul.

What is the difference between getText() and getAttribute() in Selenium WebDriver?

getAttribute(src) you get w3schools.jpg
getAttribute(height) you get 142
getAttribute(width) you get 104

How to access Spring context in jUnit tests annotated with @RunWith and @ContextConfiguration?

Since the tests will be instantiated like a Spring bean too, you just need to implement the ApplicationContextAware interface:

@RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
@ContextConfiguration(locations = {"/services-test-config.xml"})
public class MySericeTest implements ApplicationContextAware
{

  @Autowired
  MyService service;
...
    @Override
    public void setApplicationContext(ApplicationContext context)
            throws BeansException
    {
        // Do something with the context here
    }
}

How to make the script wait/sleep in a simple way in unity

You were correct to use WaitForSeconds. But I suspect that you tried using it without coroutines. That's how it should work:

public void SomeMethod()
{
    StartCoroutine(SomeCoroutine());
}

private IEnumerator SomeCoroutine()
{
    TextUI.text = "Welcome to Number Wizard!";
    yield return new WaitForSeconds (3);
    TextUI.text = ("The highest number you can pick is " + max);
    yield return new WaitForSeconds (3);
    TextUI.text = ("The lowest number you can pick is " + min);
}

How to cin to a vector

You need a loop for that. So do this:

while (cin >> input) //enter any non-integer to end the loop!
{
   V.push_back(input);
}

Or use this idiomatic version:

#include <iterator> //for std::istream_iterator

std::istream_iterator<int> begin(std::cin), end;
std::vector<int> v(begin, end);
write_vector(v);

You could also improve your write_vector as:

 #include <algorithm> //for std::copy

template <typename T>
void write_vector(const vector<T>& v)
{
   cout << "The numbers in the vector are: " << endl;
   std::copy(v.begin(), v.end(), std::ostream_iterator<int>(std::cout, " "));
}

pip install gives error: Unable to find vcvarsall.bat

Thanks to "msoliman" for his hint, however his answer doesn't give clear solution for those who doesn't have VS2010
For example I have VS2012 and VS2013 and there are no such KEYs in system registry.

Solution:
Edit file: "[Python_install_loc]/Lib/distutils/msvc9compiler.py"
Change on line 224:

productdir = Reg.get_value(r"%s\Setup\VC" % vsbase,
                               "productdir")

to:

productdir = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio [your_vs_version(11/12...)]\VC"

and that should work

"Javac" doesn't work correctly on Windows 10

If you have set all PATH variables correctly after installation, just restart it.

I had the same problem, I had also installed new Windows7 OS then I upgraded it to Win 10. Then i started setup necessary tools like IntelliJ, Java jdk,jre, eclipse so on. In cmd, java -version worked but javac compiler got unrecognized. I checked and all good, the files in the folders, path are correct and so on.

I restarted and checked it again in cmd ,it worked.

ERROR 1130 (HY000): Host '' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

For those who are able to access cpanel, there is a simpler way getting around it.

  1. log in cpanel => "Remote MySQL" under DATABASES section:

  2. Add the IPs / hostname which you are accessing from

  3. done!!!

Locating child nodes of WebElements in selenium

The toString() method of Selenium's By-Class produces something like "By.xpath: //XpathFoo"

So you could take a substring starting at the colon with something like this:

String selector = divA.toString().substring(s.indexOf(":") + 2);

With this, you could find your element inside your other element with this:

WebElement input = driver.findElement( By.xpath( selector + "//input" ) );

Advantage: You have to search only once on the actual SUT, so it could give you a bonus in performance.

Disadvantage: Ugly... if you want to search for the parent element with css selectory and use xpath for it's childs, you have to check for types before you concatenate... In this case, Slanec's solution (using findElement on a WebElement) is much better.

How to solve ADB device unauthorized in Android ADB host device?

  • Get the public key from the client phone (adb host)

    cat /data/.android/adbkey.pub

  • copy the above public key to the target phone's /data/misc/adb/adb_keys location. (you may need to stop the adb daemon first with stop adbd)

    cat /data/misc/adb/adb_keys

verify both cat outputs match.

try restarting adb daemon on target start adbd or just reboot them.

If you are having problems reading or writing to ADB KEYS in above steps, try setting environment variable ADB_KEYS_PATH with a temporary path (eg: /data/local/tmp). Refer to that link it goes into more details

    "On the host, the user public/private key pair is automatically generated,
    if it does not exist, when the adb daemon starts and is stored in
    $HOME/.android/adb_key(.pub) or in $ANDROID_SDK_HOME on windows. If needed,
    the ADB_KEYS_PATH env variable may be set to a :-separated (; under
    Windows) list of private keys, e.g. company-wide or vendor keys.

    On the device, vendors public keys are installed at build time in
    /adb_keys. User-installed keys are stored in /data/misc/adb/adb_keys"

What is the difference between .py and .pyc files?

"A program doesn't run any faster when it is read from a ".pyc" or ".pyo" file than when it is read from a ".py" file; the only thing that's faster about ".pyc" or ".pyo" files is the speed with which they are loaded. "

Maven: The packaging for this project did not assign a file to the build artifact

I had the same issue but I executed mvn install initially (not install:install as it was mentioned earlier).

The solution is to include:

 <plugin>
        <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
        <artifactId>maven-install-plugin</artifactId>
        <version>2.5.2</version>
 </plugin>

Into plugin management section.

How to use pagination on HTML tables?

As far as I can see it on the website of that paginations plugin, the plugin itself doesn't do the actual pagination. The only thing it does is display a row of numbers, and display the correct buttons depending on the page you're on.

However, to actually paginate, you have to write the appropriate Javascript yourself. This should be placed in stead of this Javascript:

function test(pageNumber)
{

  var page="#page-id-"+pageNumber;
  $('.select').hide()
  $(page).show()

}

Which is code I'm guessing you've copy-pasted from somewhere but at the moment doesn't really do anything. If you don't know Javascript, going with another library that actually does pagination of a table is something you probably want to do.

Vue Js - Loop via v-for X times (in a range)

I have solved it with Dov Benjamin's help like that:

<ul>
  <li v-for="(n,index) in 2">{{ object.price }}</li>
</ul>

And another method, for both V1.x and 2.x of vue.js

Vue 1:

<p v-for="item in items | limitBy 10">{{ item }}</p>

Vue2:

// Via slice method in computed prop

<p v-for="item in filteredItems">{{ item }}</p>

computed: {
   filteredItems: function () {
     return this.items.slice(0, 10)
     }
  }

How to install SQL Server Management Studio 2012 (SSMS) Express?

When I installed: ENU\x64\SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe

I had to choose the following options to get the management Tools:

  1. "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation."
  2. "Add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2012"
  3. Accept the license.
  4. Check the box for "Management Tools - Basic".
  5. Wait a long time as it installs.

When I was done I had an option "SQL Server Management Studio" within my Start Menu.

Searching for "Management" pulled it up faster within the Start Menu.

python 2 instead of python 3 as the (temporary) default python?

You can use virtualenv

# Use this to create your temporary python "install"
# (Assuming that is the correct path to the python interpreter you want to use.)
virtualenv -p /usr/bin/python2.7 --distribute temp-python

# Type this command when you want to use your temporary python.
# While you are using your temporary python you will also have access to a temporary pip,
# which will keep all packages installed with it separate from your main python install.
# A shorter version of this command would be ". temp-python/bin/activate"
source temp-python/bin/activate

# When you no longer wish to use you temporary python type
deactivate

Enjoy!

Get file size, image width and height before upload

Here is a pure JavaScript example of picking an image file, displaying it, looping through the image properties, and then re-sizing the image from the canvas into an IMG tag and explicitly setting the re-sized image type to jpeg.

If you right click the top image, in the canvas tag, and choose Save File As, it will default to a PNG format. If you right click, and Save File as the lower image, it will default to a JPEG format. Any file over 400px in width is reduced to 400px in width, and a height proportional to the original file.

HTML

<form class='frmUpload'>
  <input name="picOneUpload" type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="picUpload(this.files[0])" >
</form>

<canvas id="cnvsForFormat" width="400" height="266" style="border:1px solid #c3c3c3"></canvas>
<div id='allImgProperties' style="display:inline"></div>

<div id='imgTwoForJPG'></div>

SCRIPT

<script>

window.picUpload = function(frmData) {
  console.log("picUpload ran: " + frmData);

var allObjtProperties = '';
for (objProprty in frmData) {
    console.log(objProprty + " : " + frmData[objProprty]);
    allObjtProperties = allObjtProperties + "<span>" + objProprty + ": " + frmData[objProprty] + ", </span>";
};

document.getElementById('allImgProperties').innerHTML = allObjtProperties;

var cnvs=document.getElementById("cnvsForFormat");
console.log("cnvs: " + cnvs);
var ctx=cnvs.getContext("2d");

var img = new Image;
img.src = URL.createObjectURL(frmData);

console.log('img: ' + img);

img.onload = function() {
  var picWidth = this.width;
  var picHeight = this.height;

  var wdthHghtRatio = picHeight/picWidth;
  console.log('wdthHghtRatio: ' + wdthHghtRatio);

  if (Number(picWidth) > 400) {
    var newHeight = Math.round(Number(400) * wdthHghtRatio);
  } else {
    return false;
  };

    document.getElementById('cnvsForFormat').height = newHeight;
    console.log('width: 400  h: ' + newHeight);
    //You must change the width and height settings in order to decrease the image size, but
    //it needs to be proportional to the original dimensions.
    console.log('This is BEFORE the DRAW IMAGE');
    ctx.drawImage(img,0,0, 400, newHeight);

    console.log('THIS IS AFTER THE DRAW IMAGE!');

    //Even if original image is jpeg, getting data out of the canvas will default to png if not specified
    var canvasToDtaUrl = cnvs.toDataURL("image/jpeg");
    //The type and size of the image in this new IMG tag will be JPEG, and possibly much smaller in size
    document.getElementById('imgTwoForJPG').innerHTML = "<img src='" + canvasToDtaUrl + "'>";
};
};

</script>

Here is a jsFiddle:

jsFiddle Pick, display, get properties, and Re-size an image file

In jsFiddle, right clicking the top image, which is a canvas, won't give you the same save options as right clicking the bottom image in an IMG tag.

When maven says "resolution will not be reattempted until the update interval of MyRepo has elapsed", where is that interval specified?

If you use Nexus as a proxy repo, it has "Not Found Cache TTL" setting with default value 1440 minutes (or 24 hours). Lowering this value may help (Repositories > Configuration > Expiration Settings).

See documentation for more info.

What is the best way to test for an empty string in Go?

As per official guidelines and from performance point of view they appear equivalent (ANisus answer), the s != "" would be better due to a syntactical advantage. s != "" will fail at compile time if the variable is not a string, while len(s) == 0 will pass for several other data types.

How to deserialize xml to object

Your classes should look like this

[XmlRoot("StepList")]
public class StepList
{
    [XmlElement("Step")]
    public List<Step> Steps { get; set; }
}

public class Step
{
    [XmlElement("Name")]
    public string Name { get; set; }
    [XmlElement("Desc")]
    public string Desc { get; set; }
}

Here is my testcode.

string testData = @"<StepList>
                        <Step>
                            <Name>Name1</Name>
                            <Desc>Desc1</Desc>
                        </Step>
                        <Step>
                            <Name>Name2</Name>
                            <Desc>Desc2</Desc>
                        </Step>
                    </StepList>";

XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(StepList));
using (TextReader reader = new StringReader(testData))
{
    StepList result = (StepList) serializer.Deserialize(reader);
}

If you want to read a text file you should load the file into a FileStream and deserialize this.

using (FileStream fileStream = new FileStream("<PathToYourFile>", FileMode.Open))
{
    StepList result = (StepList) serializer.Deserialize(fileStream);
}

Can we cast a generic object to a custom object type in javascript?

This borrows from a few other answers here but I thought it might help someone. If you define the following function on your custom object, then you have a factory function that you can pass a generic object into and it will return for you an instance of the class.

CustomObject.create = function (obj) {
    var field = new CustomObject();
    for (var prop in obj) {
        if (field.hasOwnProperty(prop)) {
            field[prop] = obj[prop];
        }
    }

    return field;
}

Use like this

var typedObj = CustomObject.create(genericObj);

How to run different python versions in cmd

I also met the case to use both python2 and python3 on my Windows machine. Here's how i resolved it:

  1. download python2x and python3x, installed them.
  2. add C:\Python35;C:\Python35\Scripts;C:\Python27;C:\Python27\Scripts to environment variable PATH.
  3. Go to C:\Python35 to rename python.exe to python3.exe, also to C:\Python27, rename python.exe to python2.exe.
  4. restart your command window.
  5. type python2 scriptname.py, or python3 scriptname.py in command line to switch the version you like.

Add data to JSONObject

The answer is to use a JSONArray as well, and to dive "deep" into the tree structure:

JSONArray arr = new JSONArray();
arr.put (...); // a new JSONObject()
arr.put (...); // a new JSONObject()

JSONObject json = new JSONObject();
json.put ("aoColumnDefs",arr);

How do you reinstall an app's dependencies using npm?

Most of the time I use the following command to achieve a complete reinstall of all the node modules (be sure you are in the project folder).

rm -rf node_modules && npm install

You can also run npm cache clean after removing the node_modules folder to be sure there aren't any cached dependencies.

How to create a new variable in a data.frame based on a condition?

One obvious and straightforward possibility is to use "if-else conditions". In that example

x <- c(1, 2, 4)
y <- c(1, 4, 5)
w <- ifelse(x <= 1, "good", ifelse((x >= 3) & (x <= 5), "bad", "fair"))
data.frame(x, y, w)

** For the additional question in the edit** Is that what you expect ?

> d1 <- c("e", "c", "a")
> d2 <- c("e", "a", "b")
>
> w <- ifelse((d1 == "e") & (d2 == "e"), 1,
+    ifelse((d1=="a") & (d2 == "b"), 2,
+    ifelse((d1 == "e"), 3, 99)))
>
> data.frame(d1, d2, w)
  d1 d2  w
1  e  e  1
2  c  a 99
3  a  b  2

If you do not feel comfortable with the ifelse function, you can also work with the if and else statements for such applications.

How do I iterate over a range of numbers defined by variables in Bash?

You can use

for i in $(seq $END); do echo $i; done

gnuplot - adjust size of key/legend

To adjust the length of the samples:

set key samplen X

(default is 4)

To adjust the vertical spacing of the samples:

set key spacing X

(default is 1.25)

and (for completeness), to adjust the fontsize:

set key font "<face>,<size>"

(default depends on the terminal)

And of course, all these can be combined into one line:

set key samplen 2 spacing .5 font ",8"

Note that you can also change the position of the key using set key at <position> or any one of the pre-defined positions (which I'll just defer to help key at this point)

How can I format DateTime to web UTC format?

Why don't just use The Round-trip ("O", "o") Format Specifier?

The "O" or "o" standard format specifier represents a custom date and time format string using a pattern that preserves time zone information and emits a result string that complies with ISO 8601. For DateTime values, this format specifier is designed to preserve date and time values along with the DateTime.Kind property in text. The formatted string can be parsed back by using the DateTime.Parse(String, IFormatProvider, DateTimeStyles) or DateTime.ParseExact method if the styles parameter is set to DateTimeStyles.RoundtripKind.

The "O" or "o" standard format specifier corresponds to the "yyyy'-'MM'-'dd'T'HH':'mm':'ss'.'fffffffK" custom format string for DateTime values and to the "yyyy'-'MM'-'dd'T'HH':'mm':'ss'.'fffffffzzz" custom format string for DateTimeOffset values. In this string, the pairs of single quotation marks that delimit individual characters, such as the hyphens, the colons, and the letter "T", indicate that the individual character is a literal that cannot be changed. The apostrophes do not appear in the output string.

The O" or "o" standard format specifier (and the "yyyy'-'MM'-'dd'T'HH':'mm':'ss'.'fffffffK" custom format string) takes advantage of the three ways that ISO 8601 represents time zone information to preserve the Kind property of DateTime values:

public class Example
{
   public static void Main()
   {
       DateTime dat = new DateTime(2009, 6, 15, 13, 45, 30,
                                   DateTimeKind.Unspecified);
       Console.WriteLine("{0} ({1}) --> {0:O}", dat, dat.Kind);

       DateTime uDat = new DateTime(2009, 6, 15, 13, 45, 30,
                                    DateTimeKind.Utc);
       Console.WriteLine("{0} ({1}) --> {0:O}", uDat, uDat.Kind);

       DateTime lDat = new DateTime(2009, 6, 15, 13, 45, 30,
                                    DateTimeKind.Local);
       Console.WriteLine("{0} ({1}) --> {0:O}\n", lDat, lDat.Kind);

       DateTimeOffset dto = new DateTimeOffset(lDat);
       Console.WriteLine("{0} --> {0:O}", dto);
   }
}
// The example displays the following output:
//    6/15/2009 1:45:30 PM (Unspecified) --> 2009-06-15T13:45:30.0000000

Bootstrap css hides portion of container below navbar navbar-fixed-top

I guess the problem you have is related to the dynamic height that the fixed navbar at the top has. For example, when a user logs in, you need to display some kind of "Hello [User Name]" and when the name is too wide, the navbar needs to use more height so this text doesn't overlap with the navbar menu. As the navbar has the style "position: fixed", the body stays underneath it and a taller part of it becomes hidden so you need to "dynamically" change the padding at the top every time the navbar height changes which would happen in the following case scenarios:

  1. The page is loaded / reloaded.
  2. The browser window is resized as this could hit a different responsive breakpoint.
  3. The navbar content is modified directly or indirectly as this could provoke a height change.

This dynamicity is not covered by regular CSS so I can only think of one way to solve this problem if the user has JavaScript enabled. Please try the following jQuery code snippet to resolve case scenarios 1 and 2; for case scenario 3 please remember to call the function onResize() after any change in the navbar content:

_x000D_
_x000D_
var onResize = function() {_x000D_
  // apply dynamic padding at the top of the body according to the fixed navbar height_x000D_
  $("body").css("padding-top", $(".navbar-fixed-top").height());_x000D_
};_x000D_
_x000D_
// attach the function to the window resize event_x000D_
$(window).resize(onResize);_x000D_
_x000D_
// call it also when the page is ready after load or reload_x000D_
$(function() {_x000D_
  onResize();_x000D_
});
_x000D_
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>

create a trusted self-signed SSL cert for localhost (for use with Express/Node)

You can try openSSL to generate certificates. Take a look at this.

You are going to need a .key and .crt file to add HTTPS to node JS express server. Once you generate this, use this code to add HTTPS to server.

var https = require('https');
var fs = require('fs');
var express = require('express');

var options = {
    key: fs.readFileSync('/etc/apache2/ssl/server.key'),
    cert: fs.readFileSync('/etc/apache2/ssl/server.crt'),
    requestCert: false,
    rejectUnauthorized: false
};

var app = express();

var server = https.createServer(options, app).listen(3000, function(){
    console.log("server started at port 3000");
});

This is working fine in my local machine as well as the server where I have deployed this. The one I have in server was bought from goDaddy but localhost had a self signed certificate.

However, every browser threw an error saying connection is not trusted, do you want to continue. After I click continue, it worked fine.

If anyone has ever bypassed this error with self signed certificate, please enlighten.

Django: How can I call a view function from template?

Assuming that you want to get a value from the user input in html textbox whenever the user clicks 'Click' button, and then call a python function (mypythonfunction) that you wrote inside mypythoncode.py. Note that "btn" class is defined in a css file.

How to get current value of RxJS Subject or Observable?

A similar looking answer was downvoted. But I think I can justify what I'm suggesting here for limited cases.

While it's true that an observable doesn't have a current value, very often it will have an immediately available value. For example with redux / flux / akita stores you may request data from a central store, based on a number of observables and that value will generally be immediately available.

If this is the case then when you subscribe, the value will come back immediately.

So let's say you had a call to a service, and on completion you want to get the latest value of something from your store, that potentially might not emit:

You might try to do this (and you should as much as possible keep things 'inside pipes'):

 serviceCallResponse$.pipe(withLatestFrom(store$.select(x => x.customer)))
                     .subscribe(([ serviceCallResponse, customer] => {

                        // we have serviceCallResponse and customer
                     });

The problem with this is that it will block until the secondary observable emits a value, which potentially could be never.

I found myself recently needing to evaluate an observable only if a value was immediately available, and more importantly I needed to be able to detect if it wasn't. I ended up doing this:

 serviceCallResponse$.pipe()
                     .subscribe(serviceCallResponse => {

                        // immediately try to subscribe to get the 'available' value
                        // note: immediately unsubscribe afterward to 'cancel' if needed
                        let customer = undefined;

                        // whatever the secondary observable is
                        const secondary$ = store$.select(x => x.customer);

                        // subscribe to it, and assign to closure scope
                        sub = secondary$.pipe(take(1)).subscribe(_customer => customer = _customer);
                        sub.unsubscribe();

                        // if there's a delay or customer isn't available the value won't have been set before we get here
                        if (customer === undefined)
                        {
                           // handle, or ignore as needed
                           return throwError('Customer was not immediately available');
                        }
                     });

Note that for all of the above I'm using subscribe to get the value (as @Ben discusses). Not using a .value property, even if I had a BehaviorSubject.

How to install a Notepad++ plugin offline?

In v7.7, I had to go to Plugins menu and select "Open Plugins Folder..." (which goes to C:\Program Files\Notepad++\plugins).

I had to create a folder for the plugin and extract the .dll into the folder. For example, create a folder called "JSMinNPP" and place the "JSMinNPP.dll" in that folder. It doesn't work if you put the dll into the plugins folder.

Finally go to Settings --> Import --> Import plugin(s) and import that dll and restart Notepad++.

How to re-render flatlist?

OK.I just found out that if we want the FlatList to know the data change outside of the data prop,we need set it to extraData, so I do it like this now:

<FlatList data={...} extraData={this.state} .../>

"NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class" error

I recently ran into this error on Windows 10. It turned out that windows was looking for .dll files necessary for my project and couldn't find them because it looks for them in the system path, PATH, rather than the CLASSPATH or -Djava.library.path

Print in Landscape format

you cannot set this in javascript, you have to do this with html/css:

<style type="text/css" media="print">
  @page { size: landscape; }
</style>

EDIT: See this Question and the accepted answer for more information on browser support: Is @Page { size:landscape} obsolete?

Here's a JSFiddle demo: https://jsfiddle.net/crp6em1z/

Read Excel sheet in Powershell

This was extremely helpful for me when trying to automate Cisco SIP phone configuration using an Excel spreadsheet as the source. My only issue was when I tried to make an array and populate it using $array | Add-Member ... as I needed to use it later on to generate the config file. Just defining an array and making it the for loop allowed it to store correctly.

$lastCell = 11
$startRow, $model, $mac, $nOF, $ext = 1, 1, 5, 6, 7

$excel = New-Object -ComObject excel.application
$wb = $excel.workbooks.open("H:\Strike Network\Phones\phones.xlsx")
$sh = $wb.Sheets.Item(1)
$endRow = $sh.UsedRange.SpecialCells($lastCell).Row

$phoneData = for ($i=1; $i -le $endRow; $i++)
            {
                $pModel = $sh.Cells.Item($startRow,$model).Value2
                $pMAC = $sh.Cells.Item($startRow,$mac).Value2
                $nameOnPhone = $sh.Cells.Item($startRow,$nOF).Value2
                $extension = $sh.Cells.Item($startRow,$ext).Value2
                New-Object PSObject -Property @{ Model = $pModel; MAC = $pMAC; NameOnPhone = $nameOnPhone; Extension = $extension }
                $startRow++
            }

I used to have no issues adding information to an array with Add-Member but that was back in PSv2/3, and I've been away from it a while. Though the simple solution saved me manually configuring 100+ phones and extensions - which nobody wants to do.

What do >> and << mean in Python?

These are the shift operators

x << y Returns x with the bits shifted to the left by y places (and new bits on the right-hand-side are zeros). This is the same as multiplying x by 2**y.

x >> y Returns x with the bits shifted to the right by y places. This is the same as //'ing x by 2**y.

EOFException - how to handle?

You can use while(in.available() != 0) instead of while(true).

PHP - warning - Undefined property: stdClass - fix?

If think this will work:

if(sizeof($response->records)>0)
$role_arr = getRole($response->records);

newly defined proprties included too.

MySQL: How to copy rows, but change a few fields?

Does VBScript have a substring() function?

Yes, Mid.

Dim sub_str
sub_str = Mid(source_str, 10, 5)

The first parameter is the source string, the second is the start index, and the third is the length.

@bobobobo: Note that VBScript strings are 1-based, not 0-based. Passing 0 as an argument to Mid results in "invalid procedure call or argument Mid".

www-data permissions?

sudo chown -R yourname:www-data cake

then

sudo chmod -R g+s cake

First command changes owner and group.

Second command adds s attribute which will keep new files and directories within cake having the same group permissions.

Generating a Random Number between 1 and 10 Java

This will work for generating a number 1 - 10. Make sure you import Random at the top of your code.

import java.util.Random;

If you want to test it out try something like this.

Random rn = new Random();

for(int i =0; i < 100; i++)
{
    int answer = rn.nextInt(10) + 1;
    System.out.println(answer);
}

Also if you change the number in parenthesis it will create a random number from 0 to that number -1 (unless you add one of course like you have then it will be from 1 to the number you've entered).

IOPub data rate exceeded in Jupyter notebook (when viewing image)

Removing print statements can also fix the problem.

Apart from loading images, this error also happens when your code is printing continuously at a high rate, which is causing the error "IOPub data rate exceeded". E.g. if you have a print statement in a for loop somewhere that is being called over 1000 times.

Get list from pandas DataFrame column headers

There is a built in method which is the most performant:

my_dataframe.columns.values.tolist()

.columns returns an Index, .columns.values returns an array and this has a helper function .tolist to return a list.

If performance is not as important to you, Index objects define a .tolist() method that you can call directly:

my_dataframe.columns.tolist()

The difference in performance is obvious:

%timeit df.columns.tolist()
16.7 µs ± 317 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 100000 loops each)

%timeit df.columns.values.tolist()
1.24 µs ± 12.3 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 7 runs, 1000000 loops each)

For those who hate typing, you can just call list on df, as so:

list(df)

How do I perform the SQL Join equivalent in MongoDB?

MongoDB does not allow joins, but you can use plugins to handle that. Check the mongo-join plugin. It's the best and I have already used it. You can install it using npm directly like this npm install mongo-join. You can check out the full documentation with examples.

(++) really helpful tool when we need to join (N) collections

(--) we can apply conditions just on the top level of the query

Example

var Join = require('mongo-join').Join, mongodb = require('mongodb'), Db = mongodb.Db, Server = mongodb.Server;
db.open(function (err, Database) {
    Database.collection('Appoint', function (err, Appoints) {

        /* we can put conditions just on the top level */
        Appoints.find({_id_Doctor: id_doctor ,full_date :{ $gte: start_date },
            full_date :{ $lte: end_date }}, function (err, cursor) {
            var join = new Join(Database).on({
                field: '_id_Doctor', // <- field in Appoints document
                to: '_id', // <- field in User doc. treated as ObjectID automatically.
                from: 'User' // <- collection name for User doc
            }).on({
                field: '_id_Patient', // <- field in Appoints doc
                to: '_id', // <- field in User doc. treated as ObjectID automatically.
                from: 'User' // <- collection name for User doc
            })
            join.toArray(cursor, function (err, joinedDocs) {

                /* do what ever you want here */
                /* you can fetch the table and apply your own conditions */
                .....
                .....
                .....

                resp.status(200);
                resp.json({
                    "status": 200,
                    "message": "success",
                    "Appoints_Range": joinedDocs,

                });
                return resp;

            });

    });

Preloading images with JavaScript

In my case it was useful to add a callback to your function for onload event:

function preloadImage(url, callback)
{
    var img=new Image();
    img.src=url;
    img.onload = callback;
}

And then wrap it for case of an array of URLs to images to be preloaded with callback on all is done: https://jsfiddle.net/4r0Luoy7/

function preloadImages(urls, allImagesLoadedCallback){
    var loadedCounter = 0;
  var toBeLoadedNumber = urls.length;
  urls.forEach(function(url){
    preloadImage(url, function(){
        loadedCounter++;
            console.log('Number of loaded images: ' + loadedCounter);
      if(loadedCounter == toBeLoadedNumber){
        allImagesLoadedCallback();
      }
    });
  });
  function preloadImage(url, anImageLoadedCallback){
      var img = new Image();
      img.onload = anImageLoadedCallback;
      img.src = url;
  }
}

// Let's call it:
preloadImages([
    '//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/da/Internet2.jpg',
  '//www.csee.umbc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/www.jpg'
], function(){
    console.log('All images were loaded');
});

pointer to array c++

int g[] = {9,8};

This declares an object of type int[2], and initializes its elements to {9,8}

int (*j) = g;

This declares an object of type int *, and initializes it with a pointer to the first element of g.

The fact that the second declaration initializes j with something other than g is pretty strange. C and C++ just have these weird rules about arrays, and this is one of them. Here the expression g is implicitly converted from an lvalue referring to the object g into an rvalue of type int* that points at the first element of g.

This conversion happens in several places. In fact it occurs when you do g[0]. The array index operator doesn't actually work on arrays, only on pointers. So the statement int x = j[0]; works because g[0] happens to do that same implicit conversion that was done when j was initialized.

A pointer to an array is declared like this

int (*k)[2];

and you're exactly right about how this would be used

int x = (*k)[0];

(note how "declaration follows use", i.e. the syntax for declaring a variable of a type mimics the syntax for using a variable of that type.)

However one doesn't typically use a pointer to an array. The whole purpose of the special rules around arrays is so that you can use a pointer to an array element as though it were an array. So idiomatic C generally doesn't care that arrays and pointers aren't the same thing, and the rules prevent you from doing much of anything useful directly with arrays. (for example you can't copy an array like: int g[2] = {1,2}; int h[2]; h = g;)

Examples:

void foo(int c[10]); // looks like we're taking an array by value.
// Wrong, the parameter type is 'adjusted' to be int*

int bar[3] = {1,2};
foo(bar); // compile error due to wrong types (int[3] vs. int[10])?
// No, compiles fine but you'll probably get undefined behavior at runtime

// if you want type checking, you can pass arrays by reference (or just use std::array):
void foo2(int (&c)[10]); // paramater type isn't 'adjusted'
foo2(bar); // compiler error, cannot convert int[3] to int (&)[10]

int baz()[10]; // returning an array by value?
// No, return types are prohibited from being an array.

int g[2] = {1,2};
int h[2] = g; // initializing the array? No, initializing an array requires {} syntax
h = g; // copying an array? No, assigning to arrays is prohibited

Because arrays are so inconsistent with the other types in C and C++ you should just avoid them. C++ has std::array that is much more consistent and you should use it when you need statically sized arrays. If you need dynamically sized arrays your first option is std::vector.

How to hide code from cells in ipython notebook visualized with nbviewer?

Here is a nice article (the same one @Ken posted) on how to polish up Jpuyter (the new IPython) notebooks for presentation. There are countless ways to extend Jupyter using JS, HTML, and CSS, including the ability to communicate with the notebook's python kernel from javascript. There are magic decorators for %%HTML and %%javascript so you can just do something like this in a cell by itself:

%%HTML
<script>
  function code_toggle() {
    if (code_shown){
      $('div.input').hide('500');
      $('#toggleButton').val('Show Code')
    } else {
      $('div.input').show('500');
      $('#toggleButton').val('Hide Code')
    }
    code_shown = !code_shown
  }

  $( document ).ready(function(){
    code_shown=false;
    $('div.input').hide()
  });
</script>
<form action="javascript:code_toggle()"><input type="submit" id="toggleButton" value="Show Code"></form>

I can also vouch Chris's methods work in jupyter 4.X.X.

Calling a function of a module by using its name (a string)

Try this. While this still uses eval, it only uses it to summon the function from the current context. Then, you have the real function to use as you wish.

The main benefit for me from this is that you will get any eval-related errors at the point of summoning the function. Then you will get only the function-related errors when you call.

def say_hello(name):
    print 'Hello {}!'.format(name)

# get the function by name
method_name = 'say_hello'
method = eval(method_name)

# call it like a regular function later
args = ['friend']
kwargs = {}
method(*args, **kwargs)

How do I force Robocopy to overwrite files?

This is really weird, why nobody is mentioning the /IM switch ?! I've been using it for a long time in backup jobs. But I tried googling just now and I couldn't land on a single web page that says anything about it even on MS website !!! Also found so many user posts complaining about the same issue!!

Anyway.. to use Robocopy to overwrite EVERYTHING what ever size or time in source or distination you must include these three switches in your command (/IS /IT /IM)

/IS :: Include Same files. (Includes same size files)
/IT :: Include Tweaked files. (Includes same files with different Attributes)
/IM :: Include Modified files (Includes same files with different times).

This is the exact command I use to transfer few TeraBytes of mostly 1GB+ files (ISOs - Disk Images - 4K Videos):

robocopy B:\Source D:\Destination /E /J /COPYALL /MT:1 /DCOPY:DATE /IS /IT /IM /X /V /NP /LOG:A:\ROBOCOPY.LOG

I did a small test for you .. and here is the result:

               Total Copied Skipped Mismatch FAILED Extras
    Dirs :      1028      1028         0         0         0       169

Dest, Disk: WD Gold 6TB (Compare the write speed with my result)

Even with those "Extras", that's for reporting only because of the "/X" switch. As you can see nothing was Skipped and Total number and size of all files are equal to the Copied. Sometimes It will show small number of skipped files when I abuse it and cancel it multiple times during operation but even with that the values in the first 2 columns are always Equal. I also confirmed that once before by running a PowerShell script that scans all files in destination and generate a report of all time-stamps.

Some performance tips from my history with it and so many tests & troubles!:

. Despite of what most users online advise to use maximum threads "/MT:128" like it's a general trick to get the best performance ... PLEASE DON'T USE "/MT:128" WITH VERY LARGE FILES ... that's a big mistake and it will decrease your drive performance dramatically after several runs .. it will create very high fragmentation or even cause the files system to fail in some cases and you end up spending valuable time trying to recover a RAW partition and all that nonsense. And above all that, It will perform 4-6 times slower!!

For very large files:

  1. Use Only "One" thread "/MT:1" | Impact: BIG
  2. Must use "/J" to disable buffering. | Impact: High
  3. Use "/NP" with "/LOG:file" and Don't output to the console by "/TEE" | Impact: Medium.
  4. Put the "/LOG:file" on a separate drive from the source or destination | Impact: Low.

For regular big files:

  1. Use multi threads, I would not exceed "/MT:4" | Impact: BIG
  2. IF destination disk has low Cache specs use "/J" to disable buffering | Impact: High
  3. & 4 same as above.

For thousands of tiny files:

  1. Go nuts :) with Multi threads, at first I would start with 16 and multibly by 2 while monitoring the disk performance. Once it starts dropping I'll fall back to the prevouse value and stik with it | Impact: BIG
  2. Don't use "/J" | Impact: High
  3. Use "/NP" with "/LOG:file" and Don't output to the console by "/TEE" | Impact: HIGH.
  4. Put the "/LOG:file" on a separate drive from the source or destination | Impact: HIGH.

Hide Spinner in Input Number - Firefox 29

In SASS/SCSS style, you can write like this:

input[type='number'] {
  -moz-appearance: textfield;/*For FireFox*/

  &::-webkit-inner-spin-button { /*For Webkits like Chrome and Safari*/
    -webkit-appearance: none;
    margin: 0;
  }
}

Definitely this code style can use in PostCSS.

Android Design Support Library expandable Floating Action Button(FAB) menu

When I tried to create something simillar to inbox floating action button i thought about creating own custom component.

It would be simple frame layout with fixed height (to contain expanded menu) containing FAB button and 3 more placed under the FAB. when you click on FAB you just simply animate other buttons to translate up from under the FAB.

There are some libraries which do that (for example https://github.com/futuresimple/android-floating-action-button), but it's always more fun if you create it by yourself :)

Vue.js—Difference between v-model and v-bind

There are cases where you don't want to use v-model. If you have two inputs, and each depend on each other, you might have circular referential issues. Common use cases is if you're building an accounting calculator.

In these cases, it's not a good idea to use either watchers or computed properties.

Instead, take your v-model and split it as above answer indicates

<input
   :value="something"
   @input="something = $event.target.value"
>

In practice, if you are decoupling your logic this way, you'll probably be calling a method.

This is what it would look like in a real world scenario:

Push method in React Hooks (useState)?

To expand a little further, here are some common examples. Starting with:

const [theArray, setTheArray] = useState(initialArray);
const [theObject, setTheObject] = useState(initialObject);

Push element at end of array

setTheArray(prevArray => [...prevArray, newValue])

Push/update element at end of object

setTheObject(prevState => ({ ...prevState, currentOrNewKey: newValue}));

Push/update element at end of array of objects

setTheArray(prevState => [...prevState, {currentOrNewKey: newValue}]);

Push element at end of object of arrays

let specificArrayInObject = theObject.array.slice();
specificArrayInObject.push(newValue);
const newObj = { ...theObject, [event.target.name]: specificArrayInObject };
theObject(newObj);

Here are some working examples too. https://codesandbox.io/s/reacthooks-push-r991u

How to check if the string is empty?

Incrementing a variable inside a Bash loop

Using the following 1 line command for changing many files name in linux using phrase specificity:

find -type f -name '*.jpg' | rename 's/holiday/honeymoon/'

For all files with the extension ".jpg", if they contain the string "holiday", replace it with "honeymoon". For instance, this command would rename the file "ourholiday001.jpg" to "ourhoneymoon001.jpg".

This example also illustrates how to use the find command to send a list of files (-type f) with the extension .jpg (-name '*.jpg') to rename via a pipe (|). rename then reads its file list from standard input.

Getting request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource

Basically, to make a cross domain AJAX requests, the requested server should allow the cross origin sharing of resources (CORS). You can read more about that from here: http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/cors/

In your scenario, you are setting the headers in the client which in fact needs to be set into http://localhost:8080/app server side code.

If you are using PHP Apache server, then you will need to add following in your .htaccess file:

Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*"

How to repair a serialized string which has been corrupted by an incorrect byte count length?

Quick Fix

Recalculating the length of the elements in serialized array - but don't use (preg_replace) it's deprecated - better use preg_replace_callback:

Edit: New Version now not just wrong length but it also fix line-breaks and count correct characters with aczent (thanks to mickmackusa)

// New Version
$data = preg_replace_callback('!s:\d+:"(.*?)";!s', function($m) { return "s:" . strlen($m[1]) . ':"'.$m[1].'";'; }, $data);

Switch statement fallthrough in C#?

Switch fallthrough is historically one of the major source of bugs in modern softwares. The language designer decided to make it mandatory to jump at the end of the case, unless you are defaulting to the next case directly without processing.

switch(value)
{
    case 1:// this is still legal
    case 2:
}

Excel VBA Macro: User Defined Type Not Defined

Your error is caused by these:

Dim oTable As Table, oRow As Row,

These types, Table and Row are not variable types native to Excel. You can resolve this in one of two ways:

  1. Include a reference to the Microsoft Word object model. Do this from Tools | References, then add reference to MS Word. While not strictly necessary, you may like to fully qualify the objects like Dim oTable as Word.Table, oRow as Word.Row. This is called early-binding. enter image description here
  2. Alternatively, to use late-binding method, you must declare the objects as generic Object type: Dim oTable as Object, oRow as Object. With this method, you do not need to add the reference to Word, but you also lose the intellisense assistance in the VBE.

I have not tested your code but I suspect ActiveDocument won't work in Excel with method #2, unless you properly scope it to an instance of a Word.Application object. I don't see that anywhere in the code you have provided. An example would be like:

Sub DeleteEmptyRows()
Dim wdApp as Object
Dim oTable As Object, As Object, _
TextInRow As Boolean, i As Long

Set wdApp = GetObject(,"Word.Application")

Application.ScreenUpdating = False

For Each oTable In wdApp.ActiveDocument.Tables

How to change background color in the Notepad++ text editor?

There seems to have been an update some time in the past 3 years which changes the location of where to place themes in order to get them working.

Previosuly, themes were located in the Notepad++ installation folder. Now they are located in AppData:

C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\themes

My answer is an update to @Amit-IO's answer about manually copying the themes.

  1. In Explorer, browse to: %AppData%\Notepad++.
  2. If a folder called themes does not exist, create it.
  3. Download your favourite theme from wherever (see Amit-IO's answer for a good list) and save it to %AppData%\Notepad++\themes.
  4. Restart Notepad++ and then use Settings -> Style Configurator. The new theme(s) will appear in the list.

Can an AWS Lambda function call another

Kind of a roundabout solution but I just call the API endpoint for my lambda functions when I need to chain them. This allows you to decide while coding if you want them to be asynchronous or not.

In case you don't want to setup a POST request you can just setup a simple GET request with a couple, or none at all, query string parameters for easy event passing.

JQuery Ajax Post results in 500 Internal Server Error

As an addition to the "malformed JSON" answer, if the query you are running returns an object or anything that prevents the data to be serialised, you will get this error. You should always be sure you have JSON and only JSON at the end of your action method or whatever it is you are getting the data from.

What requests do browsers' "F5" and "Ctrl + F5" refreshes generate?

IE7/8/9 seem to behave differently depending on whether the page has focus or not.

If you click on the page and CTRL+F5 then "Cache-Control: no-cache" is included in the request headers. If you click in the Location/Address bar then press CTRL+F5 it isn't.

Unable to create Genymotion Virtual Device

I followed following steps

  1. I removed everything under {~/.Genymobile/Genymotion/ova} folder (with only doing this step it works sometimes)
  2. removed everything under {~/.Genymobile/Genymotion/bin} folder

After which I downloaded the fresh copy and it worked like magic.

Hope this helps.

Add a CSS border on hover without moving the element

add margin:-1px; which reduces 1px to each side. or if you need only for side you can do margin-left:-1px etc.

Excel telling me my blank cells aren't blank

This worked for me:

  1. CTR-H to bring up the find and replace
  2. leave 'Find What' blank
  3. change 'Replace with' to a unique text, something that you are
    positive won't be found in another cell (I used 'xx')
  4. click 'Replace All'
  5. copy the unique text in step 3 to 'Find what'
  6. delete the unique text in 'Replace with'
  7. click 'Replace All'

Pretty-print an entire Pandas Series / DataFrame

Using pd.options.display

This answer is a variation of the prior answer by lucidyan. It makes the code more readable by avoiding the use of set_option.

After importing pandas, as an alternative to using the context manager, set such options for displaying large dataframes:

def set_pandas_display_options() -> None:
    """Set pandas display options."""
    # Ref: https://stackoverflow.com/a/52432757/
    display = pd.options.display

    display.max_columns = 1000
    display.max_rows = 1000
    display.max_colwidth = 199
    display.width = None
    # display.precision = 2  # set as needed

set_pandas_display_options()

After this, you can use either display(df) or just df if using a notebook, otherwise print(df).

Using to_string

Pandas 0.25.3 does have DataFrame.to_string and Series.to_string methods which accept formatting options.

Using to_markdown

If what you need is markdown output, Pandas 1.0.0 has DataFrame.to_markdown and Series.to_markdown methods.

Using to_html

If what you need is HTML output, Pandas 0.25.3 does have a DataFrame.to_html method but not a Series.to_html. Note that a Series can be converted to a DataFrame.

Display Last Saved Date on worksheet

thought I would update on this.

Found out that adding to the VB Module behind the spreadsheet does not actually register as a Macro.

So here is the solution:

  1. Press ALT + F11
  2. Click Insert > Module
  3. Paste the following into the window:

Code

Function LastSavedTimeStamp() As Date
  LastSavedTimeStamp = ActiveWorkbook.BuiltinDocumentProperties("Last Save Time")
End Function
  1. Save the module, close the editor and return to the worksheet.
  2. Click in the Cell where the date is to be displayed and enter the following formula:

Code

=LastSavedTimeStamp()

Display the binary representation of a number in C?

There is no direct way (i.e. using printf or another standard library function) to print it. You will have to write your own function.

/* This code has an obvious bug and another non-obvious one :) */
void printbits(unsigned char v) {
   for (; v; v >>= 1) putchar('0' + (v & 1));
}

If you're using terminal, you can use control codes to print out bytes in natural order:

void printbits(unsigned char v) {
    printf("%*s", (int)ceil(log2(v)) + 1, "");
    for (; v; v >>= 1) printf("\x1b[2D%c",'0' + (v & 1));
}

How to check if an element exists in the xml using xpath?

Use:

boolean(/*/*[@subjectIdentifier="Primary"]/*/*/*/*
                           [name()='AttachedXml'
                          and
                            namespace-uri()='http://xml.mycompany.com/XMLSchema'
                           ]
       )

Change the "No file chosen":

Hide the input with css, add a label and assign it to input button. label will be clickable and when clicked, it will fire up the file dialog.

<input type="file" id="files" class="hidden"/>
<label for="files">Select file</label>

Then style the label as a button if you want.

Using multiple case statements in select query

There are two ways to write case statements, you seem to be using a combination of the two

case a.updatedDate
    when 1760 then 'Entered on' + a.updatedDate
    when 1710 then 'Viewed on' + a.updatedDate
    else 'Last Updated on' + a.updateDate
end

or

case
    when a.updatedDate = 1760 then 'Entered on' + a.updatedDate
    when a.updatedDate = 1710 then 'Viewed on' + a.updatedDate
    else 'Last Updated on' + a.updateDate
end

are equivalent. They may not work because you may need to convert date types to varchars to append them to other varchars.

Bogus foreign key constraint fail

On demand, now as an answer...

When using MySQL Query Browser or phpMyAdmin, it appears that a new connection is opened for each query (bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=8280), making it neccessary to write all the drop statements in one query, eg.

SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;
DROP TABLE my_first_table_to_drop;
DROP TABLE my_second_table_to_drop;
SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=1;

Where the SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=1 serves as an extra security measure...

Nested classes' scope?

Easiest solution:

class OuterClass:
    outer_var = 1
    class InnerClass:
        def __init__(self):
            self.inner_var = OuterClass.outer_var

It requires you to be explicit, but doesn't take much effort.

How to delete columns that contain ONLY NAs?

It seeems like you want to remove ONLY columns with ALL NAs, leaving columns with some rows that do have NAs. I would do this (but I am sure there is an efficient vectorised soution:

#set seed for reproducibility
set.seed <- 103
df <- data.frame( id = 1:10 , nas = rep( NA , 10 ) , vals = sample( c( 1:3 , NA ) , 10 , repl = TRUE ) )
df
#      id nas vals
#   1   1  NA   NA
#   2   2  NA    2
#   3   3  NA    1
#   4   4  NA    2
#   5   5  NA    2
#   6   6  NA    3
#   7   7  NA    2
#   8   8  NA    3
#   9   9  NA    3
#   10 10  NA    2

#Use this command to remove columns that are entirely NA values, it will elave columns where only some vlaues are NA
df[ , ! apply( df , 2 , function(x) all(is.na(x)) ) ]
#      id vals
#   1   1   NA
#   2   2    2
#   3   3    1
#   4   4    2
#   5   5    2
#   6   6    3
#   7   7    2
#   8   8    3
#   9   9    3
#   10 10    2

If you find yourself in the situation where you want to remove columns that have any NA values you can simply change the all command above to any.

Import file size limit in PHPMyAdmin

I had the same problem, My upload limit was 2 MB, I edited my php.ini, and I set it to 5 MB but still it was showing 2 MB even after restarting server. Than I compressed my .sql file to zip by keeping its name as xyz.sql.zip so it became 451 kb from 3.5 mb. Then I uploaded it again. It worked for me.

Multiline TextView in Android?

What I learned was to add "\n" in between the words where you want it to brake into the next line. For example...

<TextView
    android:id="@+id/time"
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:textAlignment="center"
    android:text="M-F 9am-5pm \n By Appointment Only" />

The \n between 5pm and By allowed me more control of where I wanted my my next line to begin and end.
