Programs & Examples On #Default database

How can I change my default database in SQL Server without using MS SQL Server Management Studio?

This may or may not exactly answer the question, but I ran into this issue (and question) when I had changed my account to have a new database I had created as my "default database". Then I deleted that database and wanted to test my creation script, from scratch. I logged off SSMS and was going to go back in, but was denied -- cannot log into default database was the error. D'oh!

What I did was, on the login dialog for SSMS, go to Options, Connection Properties, then type master on the "Connect to database" combobox. Click Connect. Got me in. From there you can run the command to:

ALTER LOGIN [DOMAIN\useracct] WITH DEFAULT_DATABASE=[master]
GO

Why I cannot cout a string?

You do not have to reference std::cout or std::endl explicitly.
They are both included in the namespace std. using namespace std instead of using scope resolution operator :: every time makes is easier and cleaner.

#include<iostream>
#include<string>
using namespace std;

jquery select element by xpath

First create an xpath selector function.

function _x(STR_XPATH) {
    var xresult = document.evaluate(STR_XPATH, document, null, XPathResult.ANY_TYPE, null);
    var xnodes = [];
    var xres;
    while (xres = xresult.iterateNext()) {
        xnodes.push(xres);
    }

    return xnodes;
}

To use the xpath selector with jquery, you can do like this:

$(_x('/html/.//div[@id="text"]')).attr('id', 'modified-text');

Hope this can help.

Git merge develop into feature branch outputs "Already up-to-date" while it's not

Initially my repo said "Already up to date."

MINGW64 (feature/Issue_123)
$ git merge develop

Output:

Already up to date.

But the code is not up to date & it is showing some differences in some files.

MINGW64 (feature/Issue_123)
$ git diff develop

Output:

diff --git

However, merging fixes it.

$ git merge origin/develop

Output:

Create a directory if it does not exist and then create the files in that directory as well

This code checks for the existence of the directory first and creates it if not, and creates the file afterwards. Please note that I couldn't verify some of your method calls as I don't have your complete code, so I'm assuming the calls to things like getTimeStamp() and getClassName() will work. You should also do something with the possible IOException that can be thrown when using any of the java.io.* classes - either your function that writes the files should throw this exception (and it be handled elsewhere), or you should do it in the method directly. Also, I assumed that id is of type String - I don't know as your code doesn't explicitly define it. If it is something else like an int, you should probably cast it to a String before using it in the fileName as I have done here.

Also, I replaced your append calls with concat or + as I saw appropriate.

public void writeFile(String value){
    String PATH = "/remote/dir/server/";
    String directoryName = PATH.concat(this.getClassName());
    String fileName = id + getTimeStamp() + ".txt";

    File directory = new File(directoryName);
    if (! directory.exists()){
        directory.mkdir();
        // If you require it to make the entire directory path including parents,
        // use directory.mkdirs(); here instead.
    }

    File file = new File(directoryName + "/" + fileName);
    try{
        FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(file.getAbsoluteFile());
        BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(fw);
        bw.write(value);
        bw.close();
    }
    catch (IOException e){
        e.printStackTrace();
        System.exit(-1);
    }
}

You should probably not use bare path names like this if you want to run the code on Microsoft Windows - I'm not sure what it will do with the / in the filenames. For full portability, you should probably use something like File.separator to construct your paths.

Edit: According to a comment by JosefScript below, it's not necessary to test for directory existence. The directory.mkdir() call will return true if it created a directory, and false if it didn't, including the case when the directory already existed.

How do I update a Tomcat webapp without restarting the entire service?

There are multiple easy ways.

  1. Just touch web.xml of any webapp.

    touch /usr/share/tomcat/webapps/<WEBAPP-NAME>/WEB-INF/web.xml

You can also update a particular jar file in WEB-INF/lib and then touch web.xml, rather than building whole war file and deploying it again.

  1. Delete webapps/YOUR_WEB_APP directory, Tomcat will start deploying war within 5 seconds (assuming your war file still exists in webapps folder).

  2. Generally overwriting war file with new version gets redeployed by tomcat automatically. If not, you can touch web.xml as explained above.

  3. Copy over an already exploded "directory" to your webapps folder

Where is Python language used?

With a few exceptions, Python is used pretty much wherever a programmer who knows Python wants to focus on solving a problem instead of struggling with implementation details. You'll find it in games, web applications, network servers, scientific computing, media tools, application scripting, etc. (There's a somewhat old list of some organizations that use it here.) People who know it well tend to love it because it strikes a very rare balance of conciseness and clarity, and (perhaps to a lesser extent) because it has a rich set of useful libraries.

Some places where Python isn't used as much:

  • Web browser scripts (because browsers implement JavaScript, not Python, though there are ways around that)
  • Large GUI applications (perhaps because good GUI bindings are relatively new)
  • Graphics engines (for performance reasons, but note that Python is sometimes used for the controlling logic that makes use of a graphics engine)
  • Small embedded devices (although some folks have had success with compact, stripped-down and special-purpose implementations of Python, and we're starting to see python tools for building applications on smart phones and tablets.)

Find the closest ancestor element that has a specific class

This does the trick:

function findAncestor (el, cls) {
    while ((el = el.parentElement) && !el.classList.contains(cls));
    return el;
}

The while loop waits until el has the desired class, and it sets el to el's parent every iteration so in the end, you have the ancestor with that class or null.

Here's a fiddle, if anyone wants to improve it. It won't work on old browsers (i.e. IE); see this compatibility table for classList. parentElement is used here because parentNode would involve more work to make sure that the node is an element.

Extract XML Value in bash script

I agree with Charles Duffy that a proper XML parser is the right way to go.

But as to what's wrong with your sed command (or did you do it on purpose?).

  • $data was not quoted, so $data is subject to shell's word splitting, filename expansion among other things. One of the consequences being that the spacing in the XML snippet is not preserved.

So given your specific XML structure, this modified sed command should work

title=$(sed -ne '/title/{s/.*<title>\(.*\)<\/title>.*/\1/p;q;}' <<< "$data")

Basically for the line that contains title, extract the text between the tags, then quit (so you don't extract the 2nd <title>)

Terminating a script in PowerShell

Exit will exit PowerShell too. If you wish to "break" out of just the current function or script - use Break :)

If ($Breakout -eq $true)
{
     Write-Host "Break Out!"

}
ElseIf ($Breakout -eq $false)
{
     Write-Host "No Breakout for you!"
}
Else
{
    Write-Host "Breakout wasn't defined..."
}

RegEx to parse or validate Base64 data

From the RFC 4648:

Base encoding of data is used in many situations to store or transfer data in environments that, perhaps for legacy reasons, are restricted to US-ASCII data.

So it depends on the purpose of usage of the encoded data if the data should be considered as dangerous.

But if you’re just looking for a regular expression to match Base64 encoded words, you can use the following:

^(?:[A-Za-z0-9+/]{4})*(?:[A-Za-z0-9+/]{2}==|[A-Za-z0-9+/]{3}=)?$

How do I deserialize a JSON string into an NSDictionary? (For iOS 5+)

It looks like you are passing an NSString parameter where you should be passing an NSData parameter:

NSError *jsonError;
NSData *objectData = [@"{\"2\":\"3\"}" dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSDictionary *json = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:objectData
                                      options:NSJSONReadingMutableContainers

How do I format currencies in a Vue component?

I have created a filter. The filter can be used in any page.

Vue.filter('toCurrency', function (value) {
    if (typeof value !== "number") {
        return value;
    }
    var formatter = new Intl.NumberFormat('en-US', {
        style: 'currency',
        currency: 'USD',
        minimumFractionDigits: 0
    });
    return formatter.format(value);
});

Then I can use this filter like this:

        <td class="text-right">
            {{ invoice.fees | toCurrency }}
        </td>

I used these related answers to help with the implementation of the filter:

What's the difference between "Solutions Architect" and "Applications Architect"?

There are no industry standard definitions for Architect job titles -- Application/System/Software/Solution Architect all refer in general to a senior developer with strong design and leadership skills. The balance of design, strategy, development (often of core services or frameworks) and management differ based on the organization and project.

The only "Architect" job title that really has a different meaning for me is "Enterprise Architect", which I see as more of a IT strategy position.

Creating Unicode character from its number

Unfortunatelly, to remove one backlash as mentioned in first comment (newbiedoodle) don't lead to good result. Most (if not all) IDE issues syntax error. The reason is in this, that Java Escaped Unicode format expects syntax "\uXXXX", where XXXX are 4 hexadecimal digits, which are mandatory. Attempts to fold this string from pieces fails. Of course, "\u" is not the same as "\\u". The first syntax means escaped 'u', second means escaped backlash (which is backlash) followed by 'u'. It is strange, that on the Apache pages is presented utility, which doing exactly this behavior. But in reality, it is Escape mimic utility. Apache has some its own utilities (i didn't testet them), which do this work for you. May be, it is still not that, what you want to have. Apache Escape Unicode utilities But this utility 1 have good approach to the solution. With combination described above (MeraNaamJoker). My solution is create this Escaped mimic string and then convert it back to unicode (to avoid real Escaped Unicode restriction). I used it for copying text, so it is possible, that in uencode method will be better to use '\\u' except '\\\\u'. Try it.

Decoding and verifying JWT token using System.IdentityModel.Tokens.Jwt

I am just wondering why to use some libraries for JWT token decoding and verification at all.

Encoded JWT token can be created using following pseudocode

var headers = base64URLencode(myHeaders);
var claims = base64URLencode(myClaims);
var payload = header + "." + claims;

var signature = base64URLencode(HMACSHA256(payload, secret));

var encodedJWT = payload + "." + signature;

It is very easy to do without any specific library. Using following code:

using System;
using System.Text;
using System.Security.Cryptography;

public class Program
{
    // More info: https://stormpath.com/blog/jwt-the-right-way/
    public static void Main()
    {
        var header = "{\"typ\":\"JWT\",\"alg\":\"HS256\"}";
        var claims = "{\"sub\":\"1047986\",\"email\":\"[email protected]\",\"given_name\":\"John\",\"family_name\":\"Doe\",\"primarysid\":\"b521a2af99bfdc65e04010ac1d046ff5\",\"iss\":\"http://example.com\",\"aud\":\"myapp\",\"exp\":1460555281,\"nbf\":1457963281}";

        var b64header = Convert.ToBase64String(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(header))
            .Replace('+', '-')
            .Replace('/', '_')
            .Replace("=", "");
        var b64claims = Convert.ToBase64String(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(claims))
            .Replace('+', '-')
            .Replace('/', '_')
            .Replace("=", "");

        var payload = b64header + "." + b64claims;
        Console.WriteLine("JWT without sig:    " + payload);

        byte[] key = Convert.FromBase64String("mPorwQB8kMDNQeeYO35KOrMMFn6rFVmbIohBphJPnp4=");
        byte[] message = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(payload);

        string sig = Convert.ToBase64String(HashHMAC(key, message))
            .Replace('+', '-')
            .Replace('/', '_')
            .Replace("=", "");

        Console.WriteLine("JWT with signature: " + payload + "." + sig);
    }

    private static byte[] HashHMAC(byte[] key, byte[] message)
    {
        var hash = new HMACSHA256(key);
        return hash.ComputeHash(message);
    }
}

The token decoding is reversed version of the code above.To verify the signature you will need to the same and compare signature part with calculated signature.

Bind TextBox on Enter-key press

I don't believe that there's any "pure XAML" way to do what you're describing. You can set up a binding so that it updates whenever the text in a TextBox changes (rather than when the TextBox loses focus) by setting the UpdateSourceTrigger property, like this:

<TextBox Name="itemNameTextBox"
    Text="{Binding Path=ItemName, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" />

If you set UpdateSourceTrigger to "Explicit" and then handled the TextBox's PreviewKeyDown event (looking for the Enter key) then you could achieve what you want, but it would require code-behind. Perhaps some sort of attached property (similar to my EnterKeyTraversal property) woudld work for you.

Return JSON for ResponseEntity<String>

The root of the problem is that Spring (via ResponseEntity, RestController, and/or ResponseBody) will use the contents of the string as the raw response value, rather than treating the string as JSON value to be encoded. This is true even when the controller method uses produces = MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_VALUE, as in the question here.

It's essentially like the difference between the following:

// yields: This is a String
System.out.println("This is a String");

// yields: "This is a String"
System.out.println("\"This is a String\"");

The first output cannot be parsed as JSON, but the second output can.

Something like '"'+myString+'"' is probably not a good idea however, as that won't handle proper escaping of double-quotes within the string and will not produce valid JSON for any such string.

One way to handle this would be to embed your string inside an object or list, so that you're not passing a raw string to Spring. However, that changes the format of your output, and really there's no good reason not to be able to return a properly-encoded JSON string if that's what you want to do. If that's what you want, the best way to handle it is via a JSON formatter such as Json or Google Gson. Here's how it might look with Gson:

import com.google.gson.Gson;

@RestController
public class MyController

    private static final Gson gson = new Gson();

    @RequestMapping(value = "so", method = RequestMethod.GET, produces = MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_VALUE)
    ResponseEntity<String> so() {
        return ResponseEntity.ok(gson.toJson("This is a String"));
    }
}

Error on line 2 at column 1: Extra content at the end of the document

On each loop of the result set, you're appending a new root element to the document, creating an XML document like this:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mycatch>...</mycatch>
<mycatch>...</mycatch>
...

An XML document can only have one root element, which is why the error is stating there is "extra content". Create a single root element and add all the mycatch elements to that:

$root = $dom->createElement("root");
$dom->appendChild($root);
// ...
while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
  $node = $dom->createElement("mycatch");
  $root->appendChild($node);

How to create an alert message in jsp page after submit process is complete

So let's say after getMasterData servlet will response.sendRedirect to to test.jsp.

In test.jsp

Create a javascript

<script type="text/javascript">
function alertName(){
alert("Form has been submitted");
}
</script>

and than at the bottom

<script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = alertName; </script>

Note:im not sure how to type the code in stackoverflow!. Edit: I just learned how to

Edit 2: TO the question:This works perfectly. Another question. How would I get rid of the initial alert when I first start up the JSP? "Form has been submitted" is present the second I execute. It shows up after the load is done to which is perfect.

To do that i would highly recommendation to use session!

So what you want to do is in your servlet:

session.setAttribute("getAlert", "Yes");//Just initialize a random variable.
response.sendRedirect(test.jsp);

than in the test.jsp

<%
session.setMaxInactiveInterval(2);
%>

 <script type="text/javascript">
var Msg ='<%=session.getAttribute("getAlert")%>';
    if (Msg != "null") {
 function alertName(){
 alert("Form has been submitted");
 }
 }
 </script>

and than at the bottom

<script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = alertName; </script>

So everytime you submit that form a session will be pass on! If session is not null the function will run!

How to place object files in separate subdirectory

For anyone that is working with a directory style like this:

project
    > src
        > pkgA
        > pkgB
        ...
    > bin
        > pkgA
        > pkgB
        ...

The following worked very well for me. I made this myself, using the GNU make manual as my main reference; this, in particular, was extremely helpful for my last rule, which ended up being the most important one for me.

My Makefile:

PROG := sim
CC := g++
ODIR := bin
SDIR := src
MAIN_OBJ := main.o
MAIN := main.cpp
PKG_DIRS := $(shell ls $(SDIR))
CXXFLAGS = -std=c++11 -Wall $(addprefix -I$(SDIR)/,$(PKG_DIRS)) -I$(BOOST_ROOT)
FIND_SRC_FILES = $(wildcard $(SDIR)/$(pkg)/*.cpp)
SRC_FILES = $(foreach pkg,$(PKG_DIRS),$(FIND_SRC_FILES))
OBJ_FILES = $(patsubst $(SDIR)/%,$(ODIR)/%,\
$(patsubst %.cpp,%.o,$(filter-out $(SDIR)/main/$(MAIN),$(SRC_FILES))))

vpath %.h $(addprefix $(SDIR)/,$(PKG_DIRS))
vpath %.cpp $(addprefix $(SDIR)/,$(PKG_DIRS))
vpath $(MAIN) $(addprefix $(SDIR)/,main)

# main target
#$(PROG) : all
$(PROG) : $(MAIN) $(OBJ_FILES)
    $(CC) $(CXXFLAGS) -o $(PROG) $(SDIR)/main/$(MAIN)

# debugging
all : ; $(info $$PKG_DIRS is [${PKG_DIRS}])@echo Hello world

%.o : %.cpp
    $(CC) $(CXXFLAGS) -c $< -o $@

# This one right here, folks. This is the one.
$(OBJ_FILES) : $(ODIR)/%.o : $(SDIR)/%.h
    $(CC) $(CXXFLAGS) -c $< -o $@

# for whatever reason, clean is not being called...
# any ideas why???
.PHONY: clean

clean :
    @echo Build done! Cleaning object files...
    @rm -r $(ODIR)/*/*.o

By using $(SDIR)/%.h as a prerequisite for $(ODIR)/%.o, this forced make to look in source-package directories for source code instead of looking in the same folder as the object file.

I hope this helps some people. Let me know if you see anything wrong with what I've provided.

BTW: As you may see from my last comment, clean is not being called and I am not sure why. Any ideas?

Fragments within Fragments

Nested fragments are supported in android 4.2 and later

The Android Support Library also now supports nested fragments, so you can implement nested fragment designs on Android 1.6 and higher.

To nest a fragment, simply call getChildFragmentManager() on the Fragment in which you want to add a fragment. This returns a FragmentManager that you can use like you normally do from the top-level activity to create fragment transactions. For example, here’s some code that adds a fragment from within an existing Fragment class:

Fragment videoFragment = new VideoPlayerFragment();
FragmentTransaction transaction = getChildFragmentManager().beginTransaction();
transaction.add(R.id.video_fragment, videoFragment).commit();

To get more idea about nested fragments, please go through these tutorials
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

and here is a SO post which discuss about best practices for nested fragments.

Pick images of root folder from sub-folder

The relative reference would be

<img src="../images/logo.png">

If you know the location relative to the root of the server, that may be simplest approach for an app with a complex nested directory hierarchy - it would be the same from all folders.

For example, if your directory tree depicted in your question is relative to the root of the server, then index.html and sub_folder/sub.html would both use:

<img src="/images/logo.png">

If the images folder is instead in the root of an application like foo below the server root (e.g. http://www.example.com/foo), then index.html (http://www.example.com/foo/index.html) e.g and sub_folder/sub.html (http://www.example.com/foo/sub_folder/sub.html) both use:

Getting Http Status code number (200, 301, 404, etc.) from HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse

As per 'dtb' you need to use HttpStatusCode, but following 'zeldi' you need to be extra careful with code responses >= 400.

This has worked for me:

HttpWebResponse response = null;
HttpStatusCode statusCode;
try
{
    response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse();
}
catch (WebException we)
{
    response = (HttpWebResponse)we.Response;
}

statusCode = response.StatusCode;
Stream dataStream = response.GetResponseStream();
StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(dataStream);
sResponse = reader.ReadToEnd();
Console.WriteLine(sResponse);
Console.WriteLine("Response Code: " + (int)statusCode + " - " + statusCode.ToString());

How do you assert that a certain exception is thrown in JUnit 4 tests?

You can also do this:

    } catch (IndexOutOfBoundsException e) {

LAST_INSERT_ID() MySQL

Just to add for Rodrigo post, instead of LAST_INSERT_ID() in query you can use SELECT MAX(id) FROM table1;, but you must use (),

Calculating Time Difference

The datetime module will do all the work for you:

>>> import datetime
>>> a = datetime.datetime.now()
>>> # ...wait a while...
>>> b = datetime.datetime.now()
>>> print(b-a)
0:03:43.984000

If you don't want to display the microseconds, just use (as gnibbler suggested):

>>> a = datetime.datetime.now().replace(microsecond=0)
>>> b = datetime.datetime.now().replace(microsecond=0)
>>> print(b-a)
0:03:43

Are the decimal places in a CSS width respected?

Even when the number is rounded when the page is painted, the full value is preserved in memory and used for subsequent child calculation. For example, if your box of 100.4999px paints to 100px, it's child with a width of 50% will be calculated as .5*100.4999 instead of .5*100. And so on to deeper levels.

I've created deeply nested grid layout systems where parents widths are ems, and children are percents, and including up to four decimal points upstream had a noticeable impact.

Edge case, sure, but something to keep in mind.

Does this do what you want?

print range(0, (m+1)*n, n)[1:]

For m=5, n=20

[20, 40, 60, 80, 100]

Or better yet,

>>> print range(n, (m+1)*n, n)
[20, 40, 60, 80, 100]

For Python3+

>>> print(list(range(n, (m+1)*n, n)))

Append values to query string

This is even more frustrating because now (.net 5) MS have marked many (all) of their methods that take a string instead of a Uri as obsolete.

Anyway, probably a better way to manipulate relative Uris is to give it what it wants:

var requestUri = new Uri("x://x").MakeRelativeUri(
   new UriBuilder("x://x") { Path = path, Query = query }.Uri);

You can use the other answers to actually build the query string.

How to permanently remove few commits from remote branch

Important: Make sure you specify which branches on "git push -f" or you might inadvertently modify other branches![*]

There are three options shown in this tutorial. In case the link breaks I'll leave the main steps here.

  1. Revert the full commit
  2. Delete the last commit
  3. Delete commit from a list

1 Revert the full commit

git revert dd61ab23

2 Delete the last commit

git push <<remote>> +dd61ab23^:<<BRANCH_NAME_HERE>>

or, if the branch is available locally

git reset HEAD^ --hard
git push <<remote>> -f

where +dd61... is your commit hash and git interprets x^ as the parent of x, and + as a forced non-fastforwared push.

3 Delete the commit from a list

git rebase -i dd61ab23^

This will open and editor showing a list of all commits. Delete the one you want to get rid off. Finish the rebase and push force to repo.

git rebase --continue
git push <remote_repo> <remote_branch> -f

My reset.css had set border-spacing: 0, causing the corners to get cut off. I had to set it to 3px for my radius to work properly (value will depend on the radius in question).

How to search for a string in text files?

The reason why you always got True has already been given, so I'll just offer another suggestion:

If your file is not too large, you can read it into a string, and just use that (easier and often faster than reading and checking line per line):

with open('example.txt') as f:
    if 'blabla' in f.read():
        print("true")

Another trick: you can alleviate the possible memory problems by using mmap.mmap() to create a "string-like" object that uses the underlying file (instead of reading the whole file in memory):

import mmap

with open('example.txt') as f:
    s = mmap.mmap(f.fileno(), 0, access=mmap.ACCESS_READ)
    if s.find('blabla') != -1:
        print('true')

NOTE: in python 3, mmaps behave like bytearray objects rather than strings, so the subsequence you look for with find() has to be a bytes object rather than a string as well, eg. s.find(b'blabla'):

#!/usr/bin/env python3
import mmap

with open('example.txt', 'rb', 0) as file, \
     mmap.mmap(file.fileno(), 0, access=mmap.ACCESS_READ) as s:
    if s.find(b'blabla') != -1:
        print('true')

You could also use regular expressions on mmap e.g., case-insensitive search: if re.search(br'(?i)blabla', s):

iOS detect if user is on an iPad

    let result: Bool = NSString(string: deviceModel).containsString("iPad")
    return result
}

We check the model below (we can do a case sensitive/insensitive search here):

    class func isUserUsingAnIpad() -> Bool {
        let deviceModel = UIDevice.currentDevice().model
        let deviceModelNumberOfCharacters: Int = count(deviceModel)
        if deviceModel.rangeOfString("iPad",
                                     options: NSStringCompareOptions.LiteralSearch,
                                     range: Range<String.Index>(start: deviceModel.startIndex,
                                                                end: advance(deviceModel.startIndex, deviceModelNumberOfCharacters)),
                                     locale: nil) != nil {
            return true
        } else {
            return false
        }
   }

UIDevice.currentDevice().userInterfaceIdiom below only returns iPad if the app is for iPad or Universal. If it is an iPhone app being ran on an iPad then it won't. So you should instead check the model. :

    class func isUserUsingAnIpad() -> Bool {
        if UIDevice.currentDevice().userInterfaceIdiom == UIUserInterfaceIdiom.Pad {
            return true
        } else {
            return false
        }
   }

This snippet below does not compile if the class does not inherit of an UIViewController, otherwise it works just fine. Regardless UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() only returns iPad if the app is for iPad or Universal. If it is an iPhone app being ran on an iPad then it won't. So you should instead check the model. :

class func isUserUsingAnIpad() -> Bool {
    if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiom.Pad) {
        return true
    } else {
        return false
    }
}

Swift - How to detect orientation changes

let const = "Background" //image name
let const2 = "GreyBackground" // image name
    @IBOutlet weak var imageView: UIImageView!
    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()

        imageView.image = UIImage(named: const)
        // Do any additional setup after loading the view.
    }

    override func viewWillTransition(to size: CGSize, with coordinator: UIViewControllerTransitionCoordinator) {
        super.viewWillTransition(to: size, with: coordinator)
        if UIDevice.current.orientation.isLandscape {
            print("Landscape")
            imageView.image = UIImage(named: const2)
        } else {
            print("Portrait")
            imageView.image = UIImage(named: const)
        }
    }

Facebook Android Generate Key Hash

The right key can be obtained from the app itself by adding the following code to toast the proper key hash (in case of Facebook SDK 3.0 onwards, this works)

try {
            PackageInfo info = getPackageManager().getPackageInfo("com.package.mypackage",         PackageManager.GET_SIGNATURES);
            for (Signature signature : info.signatures) {
                MessageDigest md = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA");
                md.update(signature.toByteArray());
                String sign=Base64.encodeToString(md.digest(), Base64.DEFAULT);
                Log.e("MY KEY HASH:", sign);
                Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),sign,         Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
            }
} catch (NameNotFoundException e) {
} catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException e) {
}

Replace com.package.mypackage with your package name

Bootstrap 3 jquery event for active tab change

To add to Mosh Feu answer, if the tabs where created on the fly like in my case, you would use the following code

$(document).on('shown.bs.tab', 'a[data-toggle="tab"]', function (e) {
    var tab = $(e.target);
    var contentId = tab.attr("href");

    //This check if the tab is active
    if (tab.parent().hasClass('active')) {
         console.log('the tab with the content id ' + contentId + ' is visible');
    } else {
         console.log('the tab with the content id ' + contentId + ' is NOT visible');
    }

});

I hope this helps someone

How to pass IEnumerable list to controller in MVC including checkbox state?

Use a list instead and replace your foreach loop with a for loop:

@model IList<BlockedIPViewModel>

@using (Html.BeginForm())
{
    @Html.AntiForgeryToken()

    @for (var i = 0; i < Model.Count; i++)
    {
        <tr>
            <td>
                @Html.HiddenFor(x => x[i].IP)
                @Html.CheckBoxFor(x => x[i].Checked)
            </td>
            <td>
                @Html.DisplayFor(x => x[i].IP)
            </td>
        </tr>
    }
    <div>
        <input type="submit" value="Unblock IPs" />
    </div>
}

Alternatively you could use an editor template:

@model IEnumerable<BlockedIPViewModel>

@using (Html.BeginForm())
{
    @Html.AntiForgeryToken()
    @Html.EditorForModel()
    <div>
        <input type="submit" value="Unblock IPs" />
    </div>
}

and then define the template ~/Views/Shared/EditorTemplates/BlockedIPViewModel.cshtml which will automatically be rendered for each element of the collection:

@model BlockedIPViewModel
<tr>
    <td>
        @Html.HiddenFor(x => x.IP)
        @Html.CheckBoxFor(x => x.Checked)
    </td>
    <td>
        @Html.DisplayFor(x => x.IP)
    </td>
</tr>

The reason you were getting null in your controller is because you didn't respect the naming convention for your input fields that the default model binder expects to successfully bind to a list. I invite you to read the following article.

Once you have read it, look at the generated HTML (and more specifically the names of the input fields) with my example and yours. Then compare and you will understand why yours doesn't work.

How do I determine the dependencies of a .NET application?

To browse .NET code dependencies, you can use the capabilities of the tool NDepend. The tool proposes:

For example such query can look like:

from m in Methods
let depth = m.DepthOfIsUsing("NHibernate.NHibernateUtil.Entity(Type)")
where depth  >= 0 && m.IsUsing("System.IDisposable")
orderby depth
select new { m, depth }

And its result looks like: (notice the code metric depth, 1 is for direct callers, 2 for callers of direct callers...) (notice also the Export to Graph button to export the query result to a Call Graph)

NDepend dependencies browsing through C# LINQ query

The dependency graph looks like:

NDepend Dependency Graph

The dependency matrix looks like:

NDepend Dependency Matrix

The dependency matrix is de-facto less intuitive than the graph, but it is more suited to browse complex sections of code like:

NDepend Matrix vs Graph

Why do multiple-table joins produce duplicate rows?

When you have related tables you often have one-to-many or many-to-many relationships. So when you join to TableB each record in TableA many have multiple records in TableB. This is normal and expected.

Now at times you only need certain columns and those are all the same for all the records, then you would need to do some sort of group by or distinct to remove the duplicates. Let's look at an example:

TableA
Id Field1
1  test
2  another test

TableB
ID Field2 field3
1  Test1  something
1  test1  More something
2  Test2  Anything

So when you join them and select all the files you get:

select *
from tableA a
join tableb b on a.id = b.id

a.Id a.Field1        b.id   b.field2  b.field3
1    test            1      Test1     something
1    test            1      Test1     More something
2    another test 2  2      Test2     Anything

These are not duplicates because the values of Field3 are different even though there are repeated values in the earlier fields. Now when you only select certain columns the same number of records are being joined together but since the columns with the different information is not being displayed they look like duplicates.

select a.Id, a.Field1,  b.field2
from tableA a
join tableb b on a.id = b.id

a.Id a.Field1       b.field2
1    test           Test1
1    test           Test1
2    another test   Test2

This appears to be duplicates but it is not because of the multiple records in TableB.

You normally fix this by using aggregates and group by, by using distinct or by filtering in the where clause to remove duplicates. How you solve this depends on exactly what your business rule is and how your database is designed and what kind of data is in there.

Stop setInterval

we can easily stop the set interval by calling clear interval

var count = 0 , i = 5;
var vary = function intervalFunc() {
  count++;
      console.log(count);
    console.log('hello boy');
    if (count == 10) {
      clearInterval(this);
    }
}

  setInterval(vary, 1500);

MySQL INSERT INTO table VALUES.. vs INSERT INTO table SET

As far as I can tell, both syntaxes are equivalent. The first is SQL standard, the second is MySQL's extension.

So they should be exactly equivalent performance wise.

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/insert.html says:

INSERT inserts new rows into an existing table. The INSERT ... VALUES and INSERT ... SET forms of the statement insert rows based on explicitly specified values. The INSERT ... SELECT form inserts rows selected from another table or tables.

C# Interfaces. Implicit implementation versus Explicit implementation

In addition to excellent answers already provided, there are some cases where explicit implementation is REQUIRED for the compiler to be able to figure out what is required. Take a look at IEnumerable<T> as a prime example that will likely come up fairly often.

Here's an example:

public abstract class StringList : IEnumerable<string>
{
    private string[] _list = new string[] {"foo", "bar", "baz"};

    // ...

    #region IEnumerable<string> Members
    public IEnumerator<string> GetEnumerator()
    {
        foreach (string s in _list)
        { yield return s; }
    }
    #endregion

    #region IEnumerable Members
    IEnumerator IEnumerable.GetEnumerator()
    {
        return this.GetEnumerator();
    }
    #endregion
}

Here, IEnumerable<string> implements IEnumerable, hence we need to too. But hang on, both the generic and the normal version both implement functions with the same method signature (C# ignores return type for this). This is completely legal and fine. How does the compiler resolve which to use? It forces you to only have, at most, one implicit definition, then it can resolve whatever it needs to.

ie.

StringList sl = new StringList();

// uses the implicit definition.
IEnumerator<string> enumerableString = sl.GetEnumerator();
// same as above, only a little more explicit.
IEnumerator<string> enumerableString2 = ((IEnumerable<string>)sl).GetEnumerator();
// returns the same as above, but via the explicit definition
IEnumerator enumerableStuff = ((IEnumerable)sl).GetEnumerator();

PS: The little piece of indirection in the explicit definition for IEnumerable works because inside the function the compiler knows that the actual type of the variable is a StringList, and that's how it resolves the function call. Nifty little fact for implementing some of the layers of abstraction some of the .NET core interfaces seem to have accumulated.

Upload DOC or PDF using PHP

Don't use the ['type'] parameter to validate uploads. That field is user-provided, and can be trivially forged, allowing ANY type of file to be uploaded. The same goes for the ['name'] parameter - that's the name of the file as provided by the user. It is also trivial to forge, so the user's sending nastyvirus.exe and calling it cutekittens.jpg.

The proper method for validating uploads is to use server-side mime-type determination, e.g. via fileinfo, plus having proper upload success checking, which you do not:

if ($_FILES['file']['error'] !== UPLOAD_ERR_OK) {
    die("Upload failed with error " . $_FILES['file']['error']);
}
$finfo = finfo_open(FILEINFO_MIME_TYPE);
$mime = finfo_file($finfo, $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']);
$ok = false;
switch ($mime) {
   case 'image/jpeg':
   case 'application/pdf'
   case etc....
        $ok = true;
   default:
       die("Unknown/not permitted file type");
}
move_uploaded_file(...);

You are also using the user-provided filename as part of the final destination of the move_uploaded_files. it is also trivial to embed path data into that filename, which you then blindly use. That means a malicious remote user can scribble on ANY file on your server that they know the path for, plus plant new files.

Taking inputs with BufferedReader in Java

The problem id because of inp.read(); method. Its return single character at a time and because you are storing it into int type of array so that is just storing ascii value of that.

What you can do simply

for(int i=0;i<T;i++) {
    String s= inp.readLine();
    String[] intValues = inp.readLine().split(" ");
    int[] m= new int[2];
    m[0]=Integer.parseInt(intValues[0]);
    m[1]=Integer.parseInt(intValues[1]);

    // Checking whether I am taking the inputs correctly
    System.out.println(s);
    System.out.println(m[0]);
    System.out.println(m[1]);
}

Could not find module FindOpenCV.cmake ( Error in configuration process)

I am using Windows and get the same error message. I find another problem which is relevant. I defined OpenCV_DIR in my path at the end of the line. However when I typed "path" in the command line, my OpenCV_DIR was not shown. I found because Windows probably has a limit on how long the path can be, it cut my OpenCV_DIR to be only part of what I defined. So I removed some other part of the path, now it works.

Is it possible to center text in select box?

Not quite Centering but using example above you can make a left margin in select box.

<style>.UName { text-indent: 5px; }</style><br>

<select  name="UserName" id="UserName" size="1">
    <option class="UName" selected value="select">Select User</option>
    <option class="UName" value="User1">User 1 Name</option>
    <option class="UName" value="User2">User 2 Name </option>
    <option class="UName" value="User3">User 3 Name</option>
</select>

How to detect orientation change in layout in Android?

I just want to propose another alternative that will concern some of you, indeed, as explained above:

android:configChanges="orientation|keyboardHidden"

implies that we explicitly declare the layout to be injected.

In case we want to keep the automatic injection thanks to the layout-land and layout folders. All you have to do is add it to the onCreate:

    if (getResources().getConfiguration().orientation == Configuration.ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE) {
        getSupportActionBar().hide();

    } else if (getResources().getConfiguration().orientation == Configuration.ORIENTATION_PORTRAIT) {
        getSupportActionBar().show();
    }

Here, we display or not the actionbar depending on the orientation of the phone

SQL Query to find missing rows between two related tables

SELECT A.ABC_ID, A.VAL FROM A WHERE NOT EXISTS
   (SELECT * FROM B WHERE B.ABC_ID = A.ABC_ID AND B.VAL = A.VAL)

or

SELECT A.ABC_ID, A.VAL FROM A WHERE VAL NOT IN
    (SELECT VAL FROM B WHERE B.ABC_ID = A.ABC_ID)

or

SELECT A.ABC_ID, A.VAL LEFT OUTER JOIN B
    ON A.ABC_ID = B.ABC_ID AND A.VAL = B.VAL FROM A WHERE B.VAL IS NULL

Please note that these queries do not require that ABC_ID be in table B at all. I think that does what you want.

Change bootstrap navbar background color and font color

Most likely these classes are already defined by Bootstrap, make sure that your CSS file that you want to override the classes with is called AFTER the Bootstrap CSS.

<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/bootstrap.css" /> <!-- Call Bootstrap first -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/bootstrap-override.css" /> <!-- Call override CSS second -->

Otherwise, you can put !important at the end of your CSS like this: color:#ffffff!important; but I would advise against using !important at all costs.

Html/PHP - Form - Input as array

HTML: Use names as

<input name="levels[level][]">
<input name="levels[build_time][]">

PHP:

$array = filter_input_array(INPUT_POST);
$newArray = array();
foreach (array_keys($array) as $fieldKey) {
    foreach ($array[$fieldKey] as $key=>$value) {
        $newArray[$key][$fieldKey] = $value;
    }
}

$newArray will hold data as you want

Array (
  [0] => Array ( [level] => 1 [build_time] => 123 )
  [1] => Array ( [level] => 2 [build_time] => 456 )

Visual Studio 2015 is very slow

I had the same problem with VS 2015 Community with Node Tools.

I saw some issues about this problem in the NTVS github repository, and it may related to analysis file in the project. In fact, I have deleted this file every project load and it gets faster, but I think the safest way to improve it is ignoring some directory files like the link below.

https://github.com/Microsoft/nodejstools/wiki/Projects#ignoring-directories-for-analysis

How to include scripts located inside the node_modules folder?

If you want a quick and easy solution (and you have gulp installed).

In my gulpfile.js I run a simple copy paste task that puts any files I might need into ./public/modules/ directory.

gulp.task('modules', function() {
    sources = [
      './node_modules/prismjs/prism.js',
      './node_modules/prismjs/themes/prism-dark.css',
    ]
    gulp.src( sources ).pipe(gulp.dest('./public/modules/'));
});

gulp.task('copy-modules', ['modules']);

The downside to this is that it isn't automated. However, if all you need is a few scripts and styles copied over (and kept in a list), this should do the job.

How to format an inline code in Confluence?

You could ask your fiendly Confluence administrator to create a macro for you. Here is an example of a macro for Confluence 3.x

Macro Name:    inlinecode
Macro Title: Markup text like stackoverflow inline code
Categories:    Formatting
Macro Body Processing: Convert wiki markup to HTML
Output Format: HTML
Template:

## Macro title: Inline Code
## Macro has a body: Y
## Body processing: Convert wiki markup to HTML
## Output: HTML
##
## Developed by: My Name
## Date created: dd/mm/yyyy
## Installed by: My Name
## This makes the body text look like inline code markup from stackoverflow
## @noparams
<span style="padding: 1px 5px 1px 5px; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, Lucida Console, Liberation Mono, DejaVu Sans Mono, Bitstream Vera Sans Mono, Courier New, monospace, serif; background-color: #eeeeee;">$body</span>

Then users can use {inlinecode}like this{inlinecode}

You could also use the {html} or {style} macros if they are installed or add this style to the stylesheet for your space.

While you are at it ask your Confluence admin to create a kbd macro for you. Same as the above, except Macro name is kbd and Template is:

<span style="padding: 0.1em 0.6em;border: 1px solid #ccc; font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; background-color: #f7f7f7; color: #333;  -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2),0 0 0 2px #ffffff inset; -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2),0 0 0 2px #ffffff inset; box-shadow: 0 1px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2),0 0 0 2px #ffffff inset; -moz-border-radius: 3px; -webkit-border-radius: 3px; border-radius: 3px; display: inline-block; margin: 0 0.1em; text-shadow: 0 1px 0 #fff; line-height: 1.4; white-space: nowrap; ">$body</span>

Then you can write documentation to tell users to hit the F1 and Enter keys.

How to make a simple popup box in Visual C#?

Why not make use of a tooltip?

private void ShowToolTip(object sender, string message)
{
  new ToolTip().Show(message, this, Cursor.Position.X - this.Location.X, Cursor.Position.Y - this.Location.Y, 1000);
}

The code above will show message for 1000 milliseconds (1 second) where you clicked.

To call it, you can use the following in your button click event:

ShowToolTip("Hello World");

Get record counts for all tables in MySQL database

If you know the number of tables and their names, and assuming they each have primary keys, you can use a cross join in combination with COUNT(distinct [column]) to get the rows that come from each table:

SELECT
   COUNT(distinct t1.id) +
   COUNT(distinct t2.id) +
   COUNT(distinct t3.id) AS totalRows
FROM firstTable t1, secondTable t2, thirdTable t3;

Here is an SQL Fiddle example.

Can I use jQuery with Node.js?

Yes you can, using a library I created called nodeQuery

var Express = require('express')
    , dnode = require('dnode')
    , nQuery = require('nodeQuery')
    , express = Express.createServer();

var app = function ($) {
    $.on('ready', function () {
        // do some stuff to the dom in real-time
        $('body').append('Hello World');
        $('body').append('<input type="text" />');
        $('input').live('click', function () {
            console.log('input clicked');
            // ...
        });
    });
};

nQuery
    .use(app);

express
    .use(nQuery.middleware)
    .use(Express.static(__dirname + '/public'))
    .listen(3000);

dnode(nQuery.middleware).listen(express);

How do I make a LinearLayout scrollable?

How do you know if Tomcat Server is installed on your PC

How to generate a core dump in Linux on a segmentation fault?

Ubuntu 19.04

All other answers themselves didn't help me. But the following sum up did the job

Create ~/.config/apport/settings with the following content:

[main]
unpackaged=true

(This tells apport to also write core dumps for custom apps)

check: ulimit -c. If it outputs 0, fix it with

ulimit -c unlimited

Just for in case restart apport:

sudo systemctl restart apport

Crash files are now written in /var/crash/. But you cannot use them with gdb. To use them with gdb, use

apport-unpack <location_of_report> <target_directory>

Further information:

  • Some answers suggest changing core_pattern. Be aware, that that file might get overwritten by the apport service on restarting.
  • Simply stopping apport did not do the job
  • The ulimit -c value might get changed automatically while you're trying other answers of the web. Be sure to check it regularly during setting up your core dump creation.

BigDecimal setScale and round

There is indeed a big difference, which you should keep in mind. setScale really set the scale of your number whereas round does round your number to the specified digits BUT it "starts from the leftmost digit of exact result" as mentioned within the jdk. So regarding your sample the results are the same, but try 0.0034 instead. Here's my note about that on my blog:

How to increase apache timeout directive in .htaccess?

if you have long processing server side code, I don't think it does fall into 404 as you said ("it goes to a webpage is not found error page")

Browser should report request timeout error.

You may do 2 things:

Based on CGI/Server side engine increase timeout there

PHP : http://www.php.net/manual/en/info.configuration.php#ini.max-execution-time - default is 30 seconds

In php.ini:

max_execution_time 60

Increase apache timeout - default is 300 (in version 2.4 it is 60).

In your httpd.conf (in server config or vhost config)

TimeOut 600

Note that first setting allows your PHP script to run longer, it will not interferre with network timeout.

Second setting modify maximum amount of time the server will wait for certain events before failing a request

Sorry, I'm not sure if you are using PHP as server side processing, but if you provide more info I will be more accurate.

Which will look for the file fileName.txt in the current directory of the application.

How to use Typescript with native ES6 Promises

If you use node.js 0.12 or above / typescript 1.4 or above, just add compiler options like:

If you use tsconfig.json, then like this:

    }
}

Unable to locate an executable at "/usr/bin/java/bin/java" (-1)

i have experienced the same problem, and after reading this post i have double checked the JAVA_HOME definition in .bash_profile. It is actually:

export JAVA_HOME=$(which java)

that, exactly as Anony-Mousse is explaining, is the executable. Changing it to:

export=/Library/Java/Home

fixes the problem, tho is still interesting to understand why it's valued in that way in the profile file.

ReferenceError: document is not defined (in plain JavaScript)

This happened with me because I was using Next JS which has server side rendering. When you are using server side rendering there is no browser. Hence, there will not be any variable window or document. Hence this error shows up.

Work around :

If you are using Next JS you can use the dynamic rendering to prevent server side rendering for the component.

import dynamic from 'next/dynamic'

const DynamicComponentWithNoSSR = dynamic(() => import('../components/List'), {
  ssr: false
})

export default () => <DynamicComponentWithNoSSR />

If you are using any other server side rendering library. Then add the code that you want to run at the client side in componentDidMount. If you are using React Hooks then use useEffects in the place of componentsDidMount.

import React, {useState, useEffects} from 'react';

const DynamicComponentWithNoSSR = <>Some JSX</>

export default function App(){

[a,setA] = useState();
useEffect(() => {
    setA(<DynamicComponentWithNoSSR/>)
  });

return (<>{a}<>)
}

Postgresql -bash: psql: command not found

export PATH=/usr/pgsql-9.2/bin:$PATH

The program executable psql is in the directory /usr/pgsql-9.2/bin, and that directory is not included in the path by default, so we have to tell our shell (terminal) program where to find psql. When most packages are installed, they are added to an existing path, such as /usr/local/bin, but not this program.

So we have to add the program's path to the shell PATH variable if we do not want to have to type the complete path to the program every time we execute it.

This line should typically be added to theshell startup script, which for the bash shell will be in the file ~/.bashrc.

How to convert a .eps file to a high quality 1024x1024 .jpg?

For vector graphics, ImageMagick has both a render resolution and an output size that are independent of each other.

Try something like

convert -density 300 image.eps -resize 1024x1024 image.jpg

Which will render your eps at 300dpi. If 300 * width > 1024, then it will be sharp. If you render it too high though, you waste a lot of memory drawing a really high-res graphic only to down sample it again. I don't currently know of a good way to render it at the "right" resolution in one IM command.

The order of the arguments matters! The -density X argument needs to go before image.eps because you want to affect the resolution that the input file is rendered at.

This is not super obvious in the manpage for convert, but is hinted at:

SYNOPSIS

convert [input-option] input-file [output-option] output-file

Best way to check for "empty or null value"

A lot of the answers are the shortest way, not the necessarily the best way if the column has lots of nulls. Breaking the checks up allows the optimizer to evaluate the check faster as it doesn't have to do work on the other condition.

(stringexpression IS NOT NULL AND trim(stringexpression) != '')

The string comparison doesn't need to be evaluated since the first condition is false.

Move branch pointer to different commit without checkout

You can do it for arbitrary refs. This is how to move a branch pointer:

git update-ref -m "reset: Reset <branch> to <new commit>" refs/heads/<branch> <commit>

where -m adds a message to the reflog for the branch.

The general form is

git update-ref -m "reset: Reset <branch> to <new commit>" <ref> <commit>

You can pick nits about the reflog message if you like - I believe the branch -f one is different from the reset --hard one, and this isn't exactly either of them.

How to set a session variable when clicking a <a> link

I had the same problem - i wanted to pass a parameter to another page by clicking a hyperlink and get the value to go to the next page (without using GET because the parameter is stored in the URL).

to those who don't understand why you would want to do this the answer is you dont want the user to see sensitive information or you dont want someone editing the GET.

well after scouring the internet it seemed it wasnt possible to make a normal hyperlink using the POST method.

And then i had a eureka moment!!!! why not just use CSS to make the submit button look like a normal hyperlink??? ...and put the value i want to pass in a hidden field

i tried it and it works. you can see an exaple here http://paulyouthed.com/test/css-button-that-looks-like-hyperlink.php

the basic code for the form is:

    <form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="page-to-pass-to.php" method="post">
                        <input type="hidden" name="post-variable-name" value="value-you-want-pass"/>
                        <input type="submit" name="whatever" value="text-to-display" id="hyperlink-style-button"/>
                </form>

the basic css is:

    #hyperlink-style-button{
      background:none;
      border:0;
      color:#666;
      text-decoration:underline;
    }

    #hyperlink-style-button:hover{
      background:none;
      border:0;
      color:#666;
      text-decoration:none;
      cursor:pointer;
      cursor:hand;
    }

jquery variable syntax

No, it certainly is not. It is just another variable name. The $() you're talking about is actually the jQuery core function. The $self is just a variable. You can even rename it to foo if you want, this doesn't change things. The $ (and _) are legal characters in a Javascript identifier.

Why this is done so is often just some code convention or to avoid clashes with reversed keywords. I often use it for $this as follows:

var $this = $(this);

C++ Compare char array with string

Use strcmp() to compare the contents of strings:

if (strcmp(var1, "dev") == 0) {
}

Explanation: in C, a string is a pointer to a memory location which contains bytes. Comparing a char* to a char* using the equality operator won't work as expected, because you are comparing the memory locations of the strings rather than their byte contents. A function such as strcmp() will iterate through both strings, checking their bytes to see if they are equal. strcmp() will return 0 if they are equal, and a non-zero value if they differ. For more details, see the manpage.

Solution

  1. Set recover to true, and strictErrorChecking to false

    $content = file_get_contents($url);

    $doc = new DOMDocument();
    $doc->recover = true;
    $doc->strictErrorChecking = false;
    $doc->loadHTML($content);

  2. Use php's entity-encoding on the markup's contents, which is a most common error source.

Add a tooltip to a div

You can use title. it'll work for just about everything

<div title="Great for making new friends through cooperation.">

<input script=JavaScript type=button title="Click for a compliment" onclick="window.alert('Your hair reminds me of a sunset across a prairie')" value="making you happy">

<table title="Great job working for those who understand the way i feel">

just think of any tag that can be visible to html window and insert a title="whatever tooltip you'd like" inside it's tag and you got yourself a tooltip.

How to extract public key using OpenSSL?

For AWS importing an existing public key,

  1. Export from the .pem doing this... (on linux)

    openssl rsa -in ./AWSGeneratedKey.pem -pubout -out PublicKey.pub

This will produce a file which if you open in a text editor looking something like this...

-----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY-----
MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEAn/8y3uYCQxSXZ58OYceG

-----END PUBLIC KEY-----
  1. However AWS will NOT accept this file.

    You have to strip off the -----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY----- and -----END PUBLIC KEY----- from the file. Save it and import and it should work in AWS.

What is the difference between substr and substring?

Another gotcha I recently came across is that in IE 8, "abcd".substr(-1) erroneously returns "abcd", whereas Firefox 3.6 returns "d" as it should. slice works correctly on both.

Original purpose of <input type="hidden">?

basically hidden fields will be more useful and advantages to use with multi step form. we can use hidden fields to pass one step information to next step using hidden and keep it forwarding till the end step.

  1. CSRF tokens.

Cross-site request forgery is a very common website vulnerability. Requiring a secret, user-specific token in all form submissions will prevent CSRF attacks since attack sites cannot guess what the proper token is and any form submissions they perform on the behalf of the user will always fail.

  1. Save state in multi-page forms.

If you need to store what step in a multi-page form the user is currently on, use hidden input fields. The user doesn't need to see this information, so hide it in a hidden input field.

General rule: Use the field to store anything that the user doesn't need to see, but that you want to send to the server on form submission.

How to get Current Timestamp from Carbon in Laravel 5

Laravel 5.2 <= 5.5

    use Carbon\Carbon; // You need to import Carbon
    $current_time = Carbon::now()->toDayDateTimeString(); // Wed, May 17, 2017 10:42 PM
    $current_timestamp = Carbon::now()->timestamp; // Unix timestamp 1495062127

In addition, this is how to change datetime format for given date & time, in blade:

{{\Carbon\Carbon::parse($dateTime)->format('D, d M \'y, H:i')}}

Laravel 5.6 <

$current_timestamp = now()->timestamp;

Is there a version of JavaScript's String.indexOf() that allows for regular expressions?

I needed a regexIndexOf function also for an array, so I programed one myself. However I doubt, that it's optimized, but i guess it should work properly.

Array.prototype.regexIndexOf = function (regex, startpos = 0) {
    len = this.length;
    for(x = startpos; x < len; x++){
        if(typeof this[x] != 'undefined' && (''+this[x]).match(regex)){
            return x;
        }
    }
    return -1;
}

arr = [];
arr.push(null);
arr.push(NaN);
arr[3] = 7;
arr.push('asdf');
arr.push('qwer');
arr.push(9);
arr.push('...');
console.log(arr);
arr.regexIndexOf(/\d/, 4);

Change drawable color programmatically

This worked for me. Make sure to put "ff" between 0x and color code. Like this 0xff2196F3

Drawable mDrawable = ContextCompat.getDrawable(MainActivity.this,R.drawable.ic_vector_home);
                    mDrawable.setColorFilter(new
                            PorterDuffColorFilter(0xff2196F3,PorterDuff.Mode.SRC_IN));

Get the client's IP address in socket.io

For latest socket.io version use

socket.request.connection.remoteAddress

For example:

var socket = io.listen(server);
socket.on('connection', function (client) {
  var client_ip_address = socket.request.connection.remoteAddress;
}

beware that the code below returns the Server's IP, not the Client's IP

var address = socket.handshake.address;
console.log('New connection from ' + address.address + ':' + address.port);

IF EXISTS in T-SQL

Yes it stops execution so this is generally preferable to HAVING COUNT(*) > 0 which often won't.

With EXISTS if you look at the execution plan you will see that the actual number of rows coming out of table1 will not be more than 1 irrespective of number of matching records.

In some circumstances SQL Server can convert the tree for the COUNT query to the same as the one for EXISTS during the simplification phase (with a semi join and no aggregate operator in sight) an example of that is discussed in the comments here.

For more complicated sub trees than shown in the question you may occasionally find the COUNT performs better than EXISTS however. Because the semi join needs only retrieve one row from the sub tree this can encourage a plan with nested loops for that part of the tree - which may not work out optimal in practice.

What is a handle in C++?

In C++/CLI, a handle is a pointer to an object located on the GC heap. Creating an object on the (unmanaged) C++ heap is achieved using new and the result of a new expression is a "normal" pointer. A managed object is allocated on the GC (managed) heap with a gcnew expression. The result will be a handle. You can't do pointer arithmetic on handles. You don't free handles. The GC will take care of them. Also, the GC is free to relocate objects on the managed heap and update the handles to point to the new locations while the program is running.

Request header field Access-Control-Allow-Headers is not allowed by itself in preflight response

In Post API call we are sending data in request body. So if we will send data by adding any extra header to an API call. Then first OPTIONS API call will happen and then post call will happen. Therefore, you have to handle OPTION API call first.

You can handle the issue by writing a filter and inside that you have to check for option call API call and return a 200 OK status. Below is the sample code:

package com.web.filter;

import java.io.IOException;

import javax.servlet.Filter;
import javax.servlet.FilterChain;
import javax.servlet.FilterConfig;
import javax.servlet.ServletException;
import javax.servlet.ServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.ServletResponse;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;

import org.apache.catalina.connector.Response;

public class CustomFilter implements Filter {
    public void doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse res, FilterChain chain)
            throws IOException, ServletException {
        HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) res;
        HttpServletRequest httpRequest = (HttpServletRequest) req;
        response.setHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", "*");
        response.setHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Methods", "POST, GET, PUT, OPTIONS, DELETE");
        response.setHeader("Access-Control-Max-Age", "3600");
        response.setHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Headers", "x-requested-with, Content-Type");
        if (httpRequest.getMethod().equalsIgnoreCase("OPTIONS")) {
            response.setStatus(Response.SC_OK);
        }
        chain.doFilter(req, res);
    }

Reading rows from a CSV file in Python

The csv module handles csv files by row. If you want to handle it by column, pandas is a good solution.

Besides, there are 2 ways to get all (or specific) columns with pure simple Python code.

1. csv.DictReader

with open('demo.csv') as file:
    data = {}
    for row in csv.DictReader(file):
        for key, value in row.items():
            if key not in data:
                data[key] = []
            data[key].append(value)

It is easy to understand.

2. csv.reader with zip

with open('demo.csv') as file:
    data = {values[0]: values[1:] for values in zip(*csv.reader(file))}

This is not very clear, but efficient.

zip(x, y, z) transpose (x, y, z), while x, y, z are lists. *csv.reader(file) make (x, y, z) for zip, with column names.

Demo Result

The content of demo.csv:

a,b,c
1,2,3
4,5,6
7,8,9

The result of 1:

>>> print(data)
{'c': ['3', '6', '9'], 'b': ['2', '5', '8'], 'a': ['1', '4', '7']}

The result of 2:

>>> print(data)
{'c': ('3', '6', '9'), 'b': ('2', '5', '8'), 'a': ('1', '4', '7')}

How to view table contents in Mysql Workbench GUI?

To get the convenient list of tables on the left panel below each database you have to click the tiny icon on the top right of the left panel. At least in MySQL Workbench 6.3 CE on Win7 this worked to get the full list of tables.

See my screenshot to explain.enter image description here

Sadly this icon not even has a mouseover title attribute, so it was a lucky guess that I found it.

AngularJS : The correct way of binding to a service properties

The Most Elegant Solutions...

app.service('svc', function(){ this.attr = []; return this; });
app.controller('ctrl', function($scope, svc){
    $scope.attr = svc.attr || [];
    $scope.$watch('attr', function(neo, old){ /* if necessary */ });
});
app.run(function($rootScope, svc){
    $rootScope.svc = svc;
    $rootScope.$watch('svc', function(neo, old){ /* change the world */ });
});

Also, I write EDAs (Event-Driven Architectures) so I tend to do something like the following [oversimplified version]:

var Service = function Service($rootScope) {
    var $scope = $rootScope.$new(this);
    $scope.that = [];
    $scope.$watch('that', thatObserver, true);
    function thatObserver(what) {
        $scope.$broadcast('that:changed', what);
    }
};

Then, I put a listener in my controller on the desired channel and just keep my local scope up to date this way.

In conclusion, there's not much of a "Best Practice" -- rather, its mostly preference -- as long as you're keeping things SOLID and employing weak coupling. The reason I would advocate the latter code is because EDAs have the lowest coupling feasible by nature. And if you aren't too concerned about this fact, let us avoid working on the same project together.

Hope this helps...

How to bundle an Angular app for production

Angular CLI 1.x.x (Works with Angular 4.x.x, 5.x.x)

This supports:

  • Angular 2.x and 4.x
  • Latest Webpack 2.x
  • Angular AoT compiler
  • Routing (normal and lazy)
  • SCSS
  • Custom file bundling (assets)
  • Additional development tools (linter, unit & end-to-end test setups)

Initial Setup

ng new project-name --routing

You can add --style=scss for SASS .scss support.

You can add --ng4 for using Angular 4 instead of Angular 2.

After creating the project, the CLI will automatically run npm install for you. If you want to use Yarn instead, or just want to look at the project skeleton without install, check how to do it here.

Bundle Steps

Inside the project folder:

ng build -prod

At the current version you need to to specify --aot manually, because it can be used in development mode (although that's not practical due to slowness).

This also performs AoT compilation for even smaller bundles (no Angular compiler, instead, generated compiler output). The bundles are much smaller with AoT if you use Angular 4 as the generated code is smaller.
You can test your app with AoT in development mode (sourcemaps, no minification) and AoT by running ng build --aot.

Output

The default output dir is ./dist, although it can be changed in ./angular-cli.json.

Deployable Files

The result of build step is the following:

(Note: <content-hash> refers to hash / fingerprint of the contents of the file that's meant to be a cache busting way, this is possible since Webpack writes the script tags by itself)

  • ./dist/assets
    Files copied as-is from ./src/assets/**
  • ./dist/index.html
    From ./src/index.html, after adding webpack scripts to it
    Source template file is configurable in ./angular-cli.json
  • ./dist/inline.js
    Small webpack loader / polyfill
  • ./dist/main.<content-hash>.bundle.js
    The main .js file containing all the .js scripts generated / imported
  • ./dist/styles.<content-hash>.bundle.js
    When you use Webpack loaders for CSS, which is the CLI way, they are loaded via JS here

In older versions it also created gzipped versions for checking their size, and .map sourcemaps files, but this is no longer happening as people kept asking to remove these.

Other Files

In certain other occasions, you might find other unwanted files/folders:

  • ./out-tsc/
    From ./src/tsconfig.json's outDir
  • ./out-tsc-e2e/
    From ./e2e/tsconfig.json's outDir
  • ./dist/ngfactory/
    From AoT compiler (not configurable without forking the CLI as of beta 16)

How to divide flask app into multiple py files?

You can use simple trick which is import flask app variable from main inside another file, like:

test-routes.py

from __main__ import app

@app.route('/test', methods=['GET'])
def test():
    return 'it works!'

and in your main files, where you declared flask app, import test-routes, like:

app.py

from flask import Flask, request, abort

app = Flask(__name__)

# import declared routes
import test-routes

It works from my side.

curl usage to get header

Every things seems correct. You might want to use the following css selector instead of what you used.

ul > li:not(:last-child):after

jquery: animate scrollLeft

First off I should point out that css animations would probably work best if you are doing this a lot but I ended getting the desired effect by wrapping .scrollLeft inside .animate

$('.swipeRight').click(function()
{

    $('.swipeBox').animate( { scrollLeft: '+=460' }, 1000);
});

$('.swipeLeft').click(function()
{
    $('.swipeBox').animate( { scrollLeft: '-=460' }, 1000);
});

The second parameter is speed, and you can also add a third parameter if you are using smooth scrolling of some sort.

SQL Server: Attach incorrect version 661

To clarify, a database created under SQL Server 2008 R2 was being opened in an instance of SQL Server 2008 (the version prior to R2). The solution for me was to simply perform an upgrade installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. I can only speak for the Express edition, but it worked.

Oddly, though, the Web Platform Installer indicated that I had Express R2 installed. The better way to tell is to ask the database server itself:

SELECT @@VERSION

Why do you need to invoke an anonymous function on the same line?

Another point of view

First, you can declare an anonymous function:

var foo = function(msg){
 alert(msg);
}

Then you call it:

foo ('Few');

Because foo = function(msg){alert(msg);} so you can replace foo as:

function(msg){
 alert(msg);
} ('Few');

But you should wrap your entire anonymous function inside pair of braces to avoid syntax error of declaring function when parsing. Then we have,

(function(msg){
 alert(msg);
}) ('Few');

By this way, It's easy understand for me.

Apache and Node.js on the Same Server

Running Node and Apache on one server is trivial as they don't conflict. NodeJS is just a way to execute JavaScript server side. The real dilemma comes from accessing both Node and Apache from outside. As I see it you have two choices:

  1. Set up Apache to proxy all matching requests to NodeJS, which will do the file uploading and whatever else in node.

  2. Have Apache and Node on different IP:port combinations (if your server has two IPs, then one can be bound to your node listener, the other to Apache).

I'm also beginning to suspect that this might not be what you are actually looking for. If your end goal is for you to write your application logic in Nodejs and some "file handling" part that you off-load to a contractor, then its really a choice of language, not a web server.

    var eventMethod = window.addEventListener ? "addEventListener" : "attachEvent";
    var eventer = window[eventMethod];
    var messageEvent = eventMethod == "attachEvent" ? "onmessage" : "message";
    eventer(messageEvent, function (e) {

How to convert map to url query string?

Update June 2016

Felt compelled to add an answer having seen far too many SOF answers with dated or inadequate answers to very common problem - a good library and some solid example usage for both parse and format operations.

Use org.apache.httpcomponents.httpclient library. The library contains this org.apache.http.client.utils.URLEncodedUtils class utility.

For example, it is easy to download this dependency from Maven:

 <dependency>
    <groupId>org.apache.httpcomponents</groupId>
    <artifactId>httpclient</artifactId>
    <version>4.5</version>
 </dependency>

For my purposes I only needed to parse (read from query string to name-value pairs) and format (read from name-value pairs to query string) query strings. However, there are equivalents for doing the same with a URI (see commented out line below).

// Required imports

import org.apache.http.NameValuePair;
import org.apache.http.client.utils.URLEncodedUtils;
import java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException;
import java.net.URLDecoder;
import java.nio.charset.StandardCharsets;

// code snippet

public static void parseAndFormatExample() throws UnsupportedEncodingException {
        final String queryString = "nonce=12345&redirectCallbackUrl=http://www.bbc.co.uk";
        System.out.println(queryString);
        // => nonce=12345&redirectCallbackUrl=http://www.bbc.co.uk

        final List<NameValuePair> params =
                URLEncodedUtils.parse(queryString, StandardCharsets.UTF_8);
        // List<NameValuePair> params = URLEncodedUtils.parse(new URI(url), "UTF-8");

        for (final NameValuePair param : params) {
            System.out.println(param.getName() + " : " + param.getValue());
            // => nonce : 12345
            // => redirectCallbackUrl : http://www.bbc.co.uk
        }

        final String newQueryStringEncoded =
                URLEncodedUtils.format(params, StandardCharsets.UTF_8);

        // decode when printing to screen
        final String newQueryStringDecoded =
                URLDecoder.decode(newQueryStringEncoded, StandardCharsets.UTF_8.toString());
        System.out.println(newQueryStringDecoded);
        // => nonce=12345&redirectCallbackUrl=http://www.bbc.co.uk
    }

This library did exactly what I needed and was able to replace some hacked custom code.

    • Steps
      • download latest version binary (gradle-6.0.1) from Gradle | Releases
      • unzip it (gradle-6.0.1-all.zip) and added gradle path into environment variable PATH
        • normally is edit and add following config into your startup script( ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc etc.):
export GRADLE_HOME=/path_to_your_gradle/gradle-6.0.1
export PATH=$GRADLE_HOME/bin:$PATH

some other basic note

Q: How to make PATH take effect immediately?

A: use source:

source ~/.bashrc

it will make/execute your .bashrc, so make PATH become your expected latest values, which include your added gradle path.

Q: How to check PATH is really take effect/working now?

A: use echo to see your added path in indeed in your PATH

?  ~ echo $PATH
xxx:/Users/crifan/dev/dev_tool/java/gradle/gradle-6.0.1/bin:xxx

you can see we added /Users/crifan/dev/dev_tool/java/gradle/gradle-6.0.1/bin into your PATH

Q: How to verify gradle is installed correctly on my Mac ?

A: use which to make sure can find gradle

?  ~ which gradle
/Users/crifan/dev/dev_tool/java/gradle/gradle-6.0.1/bin/gradle

AND to check and see gradle version

?  ~ gradle --version

Display a message in Visual Studio's output window when not debug mode?

The Trace.WriteLine method is a conditionally compiled method. That means that it will only be executed if the TRACE constant is defined when the code is compiled. By default in Visual Studio, TRACE is only defined in DEBUG mode.

Right Click on the Project and Select Properties. Go to the Compile tab. Select Release mode and add TRACE to the defined preprocessor constants. That should fix the issue for you.

mysql_config not found when installing mysqldb python interface

For Alpine Linux:

$ apk add mariadb-dev mariadb-client mariadb-libs

MariaDB is a drop-in replacement for MySQL and became the new standard as of Alpine 3.2. See https://bugs.alpinelinux.org/issues/4264

ObservableCollection Doesn't support AddRange method, so I get notified for each item added, besides what about INotifyCollectionChanging?

First of all, please vote and comment on the API request on the .NET repo.

Here's my optimized version of the ObservableRangeCollection (optimized version of James Montemagno's one).

It performs very fast and is meant to reuse existing elements when possible and avoid unnecessary events, or batching them into one, when possible. The ReplaceRange method replaces/removes/adds the required elements by the appropriate indices and batches the possible events.

Tested on Xamarin.Forms UI with great results for very frequent updates to the large collection (5-7 updates per second).

Note: Since WPF is not accustomed to work with range operations, it will throw a NotSupportedException, when using the ObservableRangeCollection from below in WPF UI-related work, such as binding it to a ListBox etc. (you can still use the ObservableRangeCollection<T> if not bound to UI).
However you can use the WpfObservableRangeCollection<T> workaround.
The real solution would be creating a CollectionView that knows how to deal with range operations, but I still didn't have the time to implement this.

How to debug Angular JavaScript Code

Since the add-ons don't work anymore, the most helpful set of tools I've found is using Visual Studio/IE because you can set breakpoints in your JS and inspect your data that way. Of course Chrome and Firefox have much better dev tools in general. Also, good ol' console.log() has been super helpful!

MySql: is it possible to 'SUM IF' or to 'COUNT IF'?

you want something like:

SELECT count(id), SUM(hour) as totHour, SUM(kind=1) as countKindOne;

Note that your second example was close, but the IF() function always takes three arguments, so it would have had to be COUNT(IF(kind=1,1,NULL)). I prefer the SUM() syntax shown above because it's concise.

How does the "this" keyword work?

Probably the most detailed and comprehensive article on this is the following:

Gentle explanation of 'this' keyword in JavaScript

The idea behind this is to understand that the function invocation types have the significant importance on setting this value.

When having troubles identifying this, do not ask yourself:

Where is this taken from?

but do ask yourself:

How is the function invoked?

For an arrow function (special case of context transparency) ask yourself:

What value has this where the arrow function is defined?

This mindset is correct when dealing with this and will save you from headache.

momentJS date string add 5 days

The function add() returns the old date, but changes the original date :)

startdate = "20.03.2014";
var new_date = moment(startdate, "DD.MM.YYYY");
new_date.add(5, 'days');
alert(new_date);

How do I set the default schema for a user in MySQL

There is no default database for user. There is default database for current session.

You can get it using DATABASE() function -

SELECT DATABASE();

And you can set it using USE statement -

USE database1;

You should set it manually - USE db_name, or in the connection string.

CSS body background image fixed to full screen even when zooming in/out

You can do quite a lot with plain css...the css property background-size can be set to a number of things as well as just cover as Ranjith pointed out.

The background-size: cover setting scales the image to cover the entire screen but may mean that some of the image is off screen if the aspect ratio of the screen and image are different.

A good alternative is background-size: contain which resizes the background image to fit the smaller of width and height, ensuring that the whole image is visible but may lead to letterboxing if the aspect ratios are different.

For example:

body {
      background: url(/images/bkgd.png) no-repeat rgb(30,30,30) fixed center center;
      background-size: contain;
     }

The other options that I find less useful are: background-size: length <widthpx> <heightpx> which sets the absolute size of the background image. background-size: percentage <width> <height> background image is a percentage of the window size. (see w3schools.com's page)

How to do what head, tail, more, less, sed do in Powershell?

more.exe exists on Windows, ports of less are easily found (and the PowerShell Community Extensions, PSCX, includes one).

PowerShell doesn't really provide any alternative to separate programs for either, but for structured data Out-Grid can be helpful.

Head and Tail can both be emulated with Select-Object using the -First and -Last parameters respectively.

Sed functions are all available but structured rather differently. The filtering options are available in Where-Object (or via Foreach-Object and some state for ranges). Other, transforming, operations can be done with Select-Object and Foreach-Object.

However as PowerShell passes (.NET) objects – with all their typed structure, eg. dates remain DateTime instances – rather than just strings, which each command needs to parse itself, much of sed and other such programs are redundant.

What is the significance of #pragma marks? Why do we need #pragma marks?

#pragma mark directives show up in Xcode in the menus for direct access to methods. They have no impact on the program at all.

For example, using it with Xcode 4 will make those items appear directly in the Jump Bar.

There is a special pragma mark - which creates a line.

window.close and self.close do not close the window in Chrome

I wanted to share my "solution" with this issue. It seems like most of us are trying to close a browser window in a standard browser session, where a user is visiting some website or another, after they've visited other websites, and before they'll visit some more.

However, my situation is that I am building a web app for a device that will essentially be the only thing the device does. You boot it up, it launches Chrome and navigates to our app. It's not even connected to the internet, any servers it talks to are on our local Docker containers. The user needs a way to close the app (aka close Chrome) so they can access the terminal to perform system updates.

So it boots up, launches Chrome in kiosk mode, at the correct address already. This happens to easily satisfy the second option in the spec:

A browsing context is script-closable if it is an auxiliary browsing context that was created by a script (as opposed to by an action of the user), or if it is a top-level browsing context whose session history contains only one Document.

So simply calling window.close() from my kiosk app just works!

Where is the default log location for SharePoint/MOSS?

For Sharepoint 2007

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS

Finding CN of users in Active Directory

You could try my Beavertail ADSI browser - it should show you the current AD tree, and from it, you should be able to figure out the path and all.

alt text

Or if you're on .NET 3.5, using the System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement namespace, you could also do it programmatically:

PrincipalContext ctx = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain);

This would create a basic, default domain context and you should be able to peek at its properties and find a lot of stuff from it.

Or:

UserPrincipal myself = UserPrincipal.Current;

This will give you a UserPrincipal object for yourself, again, with a ton of properties to inspect. I'm not 100% sure what you're looking for - but you most likely will be able to find it on the context or the user principal somewhere!

Confirmation before closing of tab/browser

If you want to ask based on condition:

var ask = true
window.onbeforeunload = function (e) {
    if(!ask) return null
    e = e || window.event;
    //old browsers
    if (e) {e.returnValue = 'Sure?';}
    //safari, chrome(chrome ignores text)
    return 'Sure?';
};

convert xml to java object using jaxb (unmarshal)

Tests

On the Tests class we will add an @XmlRootElement annotation. Doing this will let your JAXB implementation know that when a document starts with this element that it should instantiate this class. JAXB is configuration by exception, this means you only need to add annotations where your mapping differs from the default. Since the testData property differs from the default mapping we will use the @XmlElement annotation. You may find the following tutorial helpful: http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/MOXy/GettingStarted

package forum11221136;

import javax.xml.bind.annotation.*;

@XmlRootElement
public class Tests {

    TestData testData;

    @XmlElement(name="test-data")
    public TestData getTestData() {
        return testData;
    }

    public void setTestData(TestData testData) {
        this.testData = testData;
    }

}

TestData

On this class I used the @XmlType annotation to specify the order in which the elements should be ordered in. I added a testData property that appeared to be missing. I also used an @XmlElement annotation for the same reason as in the Tests class.

package forum11221136;

import java.util.List;
import javax.xml.bind.annotation.*;

@XmlType(propOrder={"title", "book", "count", "testData"})
public class TestData {
    String title;
    String book;
    String count;
    List<TestData> testData;

    public String getTitle() {
        return title;
    }
    public void setTitle(String title) {
        this.title = title;
    }
    public String getBook() {
        return book;
    }
    public void setBook(String book) {
        this.book = book;
    }
    public String getCount() {
        return count;
    }
    public void setCount(String count) {
        this.count = count;
    }
    @XmlElement(name="test-data")
    public List<TestData> getTestData() {
        return testData;
    }
    public void setTestData(List<TestData> testData) {
        this.testData = testData;
    }
}

Demo

Below is an example of how to use the JAXB APIs to read (unmarshal) the XML and populate your domain model and then write (marshal) the result back to XML.

package forum11221136;

import java.io.File;
import javax.xml.bind.*;

public class Demo {

    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance(Tests.class);

        Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jc.createUnmarshaller();
        File xml = new File("src/forum11221136/input.xml");
        Tests tests = (Tests) unmarshaller.unmarshal(xml);

        Marshaller marshaller = jc.createMarshaller();
        marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true);
        marshaller.marshal(tests, System.out);
    }

}

How to convert DOS/Windows newline (CRLF) to Unix newline (LF) in a Bash script?

tr -d "\r" < file

take a look here for examples using sed:

# IN UNIX ENVIRONMENT: convert DOS newlines (CR/LF) to Unix format.
sed 's/.$//' # assumes that all lines end with CR/LF
sed 's/^M$//'              # in bash/tcsh, press Ctrl-V then Ctrl-M
sed 's/\x0D$//' # works on ssed, gsed 3.02.80 or higher

# IN UNIX ENVIRONMENT: convert Unix newlines (LF) to DOS format.
sed "s/$/`echo -e \\\r`/"            # command line under ksh
sed 's/$'"/`echo \\\r`/" # command line under bash
sed "s/$/`echo \\\r`/" # command line under zsh
sed 's/$/\r/'                        # gsed 3.02.80 or higher

Use sed -i for in-place conversion e.g. sed -i 's/..../' file.

How do I specify "not equals to" when comparing strings in an XSLT <xsl:if>?

If you want to compare to a string literal you need to put it in (single) quotes:

<xsl:if test="Count != 'N/A'">

Remove plot axis values

you can also put labels inside plot:

plot(spline(sub$day, sub$counts), type ='l', labels = FALSE)

you'll get a warning. i think this is because labels is actually a parameter that's being passed down to a subroutine that plot runs (axes?). the warning will pop up because it wasn't directly a parameter of the plot function.

How to get MD5 sum of a string using python?

What's the correct way to communicate between controllers in AngularJS?

I've actually started using Postal.js as a message bus between controllers.

There are lots of benefits to it as a message bus such as AMQP style bindings, the way postal can integrate w/ iFrames and web sockets, and many more things.

I used a decorator to get Postal set up on $scope.$bus...

angular.module('MyApp')
.config(function ($provide) {
    $provide.decorator('$rootScope', ['$delegate', function ($delegate) {
        Object.defineProperty($delegate.constructor.prototype, '$bus', {
            get: function() {
                var self = this;

                return {
                    subscribe: function() {
                        var sub = postal.subscribe.apply(postal, arguments);

                        self.$on('$destroy',
                        function() {
                            sub.unsubscribe();
                        });
                    },
                    channel: postal.channel,
                    publish: postal.publish
                };
            },
            enumerable: false
        });

        return $delegate;
    }]);
});

Can I store images in MySQL

You will need to store the image in the database as a BLOB.

you will want to create a column called PHOTO in your table and set it as a mediumblob.

Then you will want to get it from the form like so:

    $data = file_get_contents($_FILES['photo']['tmp_name']);

and then set the column to the value in $data.

Of course, this is bad practice and you would probably want to store the file on the system with a name that corresponds to the users account.

Permissions error when connecting to EC2 via SSH on Mac OSx

Two possibilities I can think of, although they are both mentioned in the link you referenced:

  1. You're not specifying the correct SSH keypair file or user name in the ssh command you're using to log into the server:

    ssh -i [full path to keypair file] root@[EC2 instance hostname or IP address]

  2. You don't have the correct permissions on the keypair file; you should use

    chmod 600 [keypair file]

to ensure that only you can read or write the file.

Try using the -v option with ssh to get more info on where exactly it's failing, and post back here if you''d like more help.

[Update]: OK, so this is what you should have seen if everything was set up properly:

debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,gssapi-with-mic
debug1: Next authentication method: publickey
debug1: Trying private key: ec2-keypair
debug1: read PEM private key done: type RSA
debug1: Authentication succeeded (publickey).

Are you running the ssh command from the directory containing the ec2-keypair file ? If so, try specifying -i ./ec2-keypair just to eliminate path problems. Also check "ls -l [full path to ec2-keypair]" file and make sure the permissions are 600 (displayed as rw-------). If none of that works, I'd suspect the contents of the keypair file, so try recreating it using the steps in your link.
