django import error - No module named core.management

As known this was a path issue.

the base of my custom packages shared a name with a directory set in a /etc/profile. The packages were in a different location however for the webserver. So I removed the offending entries from my $PYTHONPATH and was good to go!

Thanks for the help.

Xcode 6 Storyboard the wrong size?

While Asif Bilal's answer is a simpler solution that doesn't involve Size Classes (which were introduced in iOS 8.) it is strongly recommended you to get used to size classes as they are the future, and you will eventually jump in anyway at some point."

You probably haven't added the layout constraints.

Select your label, tap the layout constraints button on the bottom:

enter image description here

On that menu add width and height (it should NOT be the same as mine) by checking their checkbox and click add constraints. Then Control-drag your label to your main view, and then when you de-click, you should have the options to center horizontally and vertically in container. Add both, and you should be set up.

Python Array with String Indices

Even better, try an OrderedDict (assuming you want something like a list). Closer to a list than a regular dict since the keys have an order just like list elements have an order. With a regular dict, the keys have an arbitrary order.

Note that this is available in Python 3 and 2.7. If you want to use with an earlier version of Python you can find installable modules to do that.

Get path from open file in Python

I had the exact same issue. If you are using a relative path os.path.dirname(path) will only return the relative path. os.path.realpath does the trick:

>>> import os
>>> f = open('file.txt')
>>> os.path.realpath(f.name)

Replace negative values in an numpy array

You are halfway there. Try:

In [4]: a[a < 0] = 0

In [5]: a
Out[5]: array([1, 2, 3, 0, 5])

Eclipse shows errors but I can't find them

Go to project>clean and select the project which display error from check box and click ok , it will clear the error for you. Click the tab which display build automatically in the project menu And if this also does not work than restart the eclipse and try again it will work.

jQuery won't parse my JSON from AJAX query

If jQuery's error handler is being called and the XHR object contains "parser error", that's probably a parser error coming back from the server.

Is your multiple result scenario when you call the service without a parameter, but it's breaking when you try to supply a parameter to retrieve the single record?

What backend are you returning this from?

On ASMX services, for example, that's often the case when parameters are supplied to jQuery as a JSON object instead of a JSON string. If you provide jQuery an actual JSON object for its "data" parameter, it will serialize that into standard & delimited k,v pairs instead of sending it as JSON.

Chrome says "Resource interpreted as script but transferred with MIME type text/plain.", what gives?

If you're generating your javascript with a php file, add this as the beginning of your file:

<?php Header("Content-Type: application/x-javascript; charset=UTF-8"); ?>

Python unicode equal comparison failed

You may use the == operator to compare unicode objects for equality.

>>> s1 = u'Hello'
>>> s2 = unicode("Hello")
>>> type(s1), type(s2)
(<type 'unicode'>, <type 'unicode'>)
>>> s1==s2
True
>>>
>>> s3='Hello'.decode('utf-8')
>>> type(s3)
<type 'unicode'>
>>> s1==s3
True
>>>

But, your error message indicates that you aren't comparing unicode objects. You are probably comparing a unicode object to a str object, like so:

>>> u'Hello' == 'Hello'
True
>>> u'Hello' == '\x81\x01'
__main__:1: UnicodeWarning: Unicode equal comparison failed to convert both arguments to Unicode - interpreting them as being unequal
False

See how I have attempted to compare a unicode object against a string which does not represent a valid UTF8 encoding.

Your program, I suppose, is comparing unicode objects with str objects, and the contents of a str object is not a valid UTF8 encoding. This seems likely the result of you (the programmer) not knowing which variable holds unicide, which variable holds UTF8 and which variable holds the bytes read in from a file.

I recommend http://nedbatchelder.com/text/unipain.html, especially the advice to create a "Unicode Sandwich."

Django - limiting query results

Django querysets are lazy. That means a query will hit the database only when you specifically ask for the result.

So until you print or actually use the result of a query you can filter further with no database access.

As you can see below your code only executes one sql query to fetch only the last 10 items.

How to get the class of the clicked element?

I saw this question so I thought I might expand on it a little more. This is an expansion of the idea that @SteveFenton had. Instead of binding a click event to each li element, it would be more efficient to delegate the events from the ul down.

For jQuery 1.7 and higher

$("ul.tabs").on('click', 'li', function(e) {
   alert($(this).attr("class"));
});

Documentation: .on()

For jQuery 1.4.2 - 1.7

$("ul.tabs").delegate('li', 'click', function(e) {
   alert($(this).attr("class"));
});

Documentation: .delegate()

As a last resort for jQuery 1.3 - 1.4

$("ul.tabs").children('li').live('click', function(e) {
   alert($(this).attr("class"));
});

or

$("ul.tabs > li").live('click', function(e) {
   alert($(this).attr("class"));
});

Documentation: .live()

HRESULT: 0x800A03EC on Worksheet.range

I agree with Hugh W post "I conclude that the same error code is used to indicate multiple unrelated problems"

Other posts have not mentioned that this error occurs frequently if the worksheet is locked. While I haven't tested every scenario, it seems that anything that you can not do in excel when a worksheet is locked with throw this error if you attempt to do it via VSTO/Com while the sheet is locked. Setting HttpContext.Current.Session in a unit test

I was looking for something a little less invasive than the options mentioned above. In the end I came up with a cheesy solution, but it might get some folks moving a little faster.

First I created a TestSession class:

class TestSession : ISession
{

    public TestSession()
    {
        Values = new Dictionary<string, byte[]>();
    }

    public string Id
    {
        get
        {
            return "session_id";
        }
    }

    public bool IsAvailable
    {
        get
        {
            return true;
        }
    }

    public IEnumerable<string> Keys
    {
        get { return Values.Keys; }
    }

    public Dictionary<string, byte[]> Values { get; set; }

    public void Clear()
    {
        Values.Clear();
    }

    public Task CommitAsync()
    {
        throw new NotImplementedException();
    }

    public Task LoadAsync()
    {
        throw new NotImplementedException();
    }

    public void Remove(string key)
    {
        Values.Remove(key);
    }

    public void Set(string key, byte[] value)
    {
        if (Values.ContainsKey(key))
        {
            Remove(key);
        }
        Values.Add(key, value);
    }

    public bool TryGetValue(string key, out byte[] value)
    {
        if (Values.ContainsKey(key))
        {
            value = Values[key];
            return true;
        }
        value = new byte[0];
        return false;
    }
}

Then I added an optional parameter to my controller's constructor. If the parameter is present, use it for session manipulation. Otherwise, use the HttpContext.Session:

class MyController
{

    private readonly ISession _session;

    public MyController(ISession session = null)
    {
        _session = session;
    }

    public IActionResult Action1()
    {
        Session().SetString("Key", "Value");
        View();
    }

    public IActionResult Action2()
    {
        ViewBag.Key = Session().GetString("Key");
        View();
    }

    private ISession Session()
    {
        return _session ?? HttpContext.Session;
    }
}

Now I can inject my TestSession into the controller:

class MyControllerTest
{

    private readonly MyController _controller;

    public MyControllerTest()
    {
        var testSession = new TestSession();
        var _controller = new MyController(testSession);
    }
}

How to wrap async function calls into a sync function in Node.js or Javascript?

Nowadays this generator pattern can be a solution in many situations.

Here an example of sequential console prompts in nodejs using async readline.question function:

var main = (function* () {

  // just import and initialize 'readline' in nodejs
  var r = require('readline')
  var rl = r.createInterface({input: process.stdin, output: process.stdout })

  // magic here, the callback is the iterator.next
  var answerA = yield rl.question('do you want this? ', r=>main.next(r))

  // and again, in a sync fashion
  var answerB = yield rl.question('are you sure? ', r=>main.next(r))

  // readline boilerplate
  rl.close()

  console.log(answerA, answerB)

})() // <-- executed: iterator created from generator
main.next() // kick off the iterator,
                // runs until the first 'yield', including rightmost code
                // and waits until another main.next() happens

Add views in UIStackView programmatically

In my case the thing that was messing with I would expect was that I was missing this line:

stackView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false;

After that no need to set constraints to my arranged subviews whatsoever, the stackview is taking care of that.

Verify that the name of the file you are running is the same as the name of the project you are working in, and that the name of the public class in that file is the same as the name of the project you are working in as well.

Otherwise, restart Eclipse. Let me know if this solves the problem! Otherwise, comment, and I'll try and help.

How to remove first 10 characters from a string?

The Substring has a parameter called startIndex. Set it according to the index you want to start at.

Parsing a JSON string in Ruby

Just to extend the answers a bit with what to do with the parsed object:

# JSON Parsing example
require "rubygems" # don't need this if you're Ruby v1.9.3 or higher
require "json"

string = '{"desc":{"someKey":"someValue","anotherKey":"value"},"main_item":{"stats":{"a":8,"b":12,"c":10}}}'
parsed = JSON.parse(string) # returns a hash

p parsed["desc"]["someKey"]
p parsed["main_item"]["stats"]["a"]

# Read JSON from a file, iterate over objects
file = open("shops.json")
json = file.read

parsed = JSON.parse(json)

parsed["shop"].each do |shop|
  p shop["id"]
end

Bootstrap 4 - Responsive cards in card-columns

I realize this question was posted a while ago; nonetheless, Bootstrap v4.0 has card layout support out of the box. You can find the documentation here: Bootstrap Card Layouts.

I've gotten back into using Bootstrap for a recent project that relies heavily on the card layout UI. I've found success with the following implementation across the standard breakpoints:

After trying both the Bootstrap .card-group and .card-deck card layout classes with quirky results at best across the standard breakpoints, I finally decided to give the .card-columns class a shot. And it worked!

Your results may vary, but .card-columns seems to be the most stable implementation here.

Escaping a forward slash in a regular expression

Use the backslash \ or choose a different delimiter, ie m#.\d# instead of /.\d/ "In Perl, you can change the / regular expression delimiter to almost any other special character if you preceed it with the letter m (for match);"

Using LINQ to concatenate strings

Lots of choices here. You can use LINQ and a StringBuilder so you get the performance too like so:

StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
List<string> MyList = new List<string>() {"one","two","three"};

MyList.ForEach(w => builder.Append(builder.Length > 0 ? ", " + w : w));
return builder.ToString();

Face recognition Library

Update

OpenCV 2.4.2 now comes with the very new cv::FaceRecognizer. Please see the very detailed documentation at:

Original Post

I have released libfacerec, a modern face recognition library for the OpenCV C++ API (BSD license). libfacerec has no additional dependencies and implements the Eigenfaces method, Fisherfaces method and Local Binary Patterns Histograms. Parts of the library are going to be included in OpenCV 2.4.

The latest revision of the libfacerec is available at:

The library was written for OpenCV 2.3.1 with the upcoming OpenCV 2.4 in mind, so I don't support OpenCV versions earlier than 2.3.1. This project comes as a CMake project with a well-documented API, there's also a tutorial on gender classification. You can see a HTML version of the documentation at:

If you want to understand how those algorithms work, you might want to read my Guide To Face Recognition (includes Python and GNU Octave/MATLAB examples):

There's also a Python and GNU Octave/MATLAB implementation of the algorithms in my github repository. Both projects in facerec also include several cross validation methods for evaluating algorithms:

angular 2 how to return data from subscribe

You just can't return the value directly because it is an async call. An async call means it is running in the background (actually scheduled for later execution) while your code continues to execute.

You also can't have such code in the class directly. It needs to be moved into a method or the constructor.

What you can do is not to subscribe() directly but use an operator like map()

export class DataComponent{
    someMethod() {
      return this.http.get(path).map(res => {
        return res.json();
      });
    }
}

In addition, you can combine multiple .map with the same Observables as sometimes this improves code clarity and keeps things separate. Example:

validateResponse = (response) => validate(response);

parseJson = (json) => JSON.parse(json);

fetchUnits() {
    return this.http.get(requestUrl).map(this.validateResponse).map(this.parseJson);
}

This way an observable will be return the caller can subscribe to

export class DataComponent{
    someMethod() {
      return this.http.get(path).map(res => {
        return res.json();
      });
    }

    otherMethod() {
      this.someMethod().subscribe(data => this.data = data);
    }
}

The caller can also be in another class. Here it's just for brevity.

data => this.data = data

and

res => return res.json()

are arrow functions. They are similar to normal functions. These functions are passed to subscribe(...) or map(...) to be called from the observable when data arrives from the response. This is why data can't be returned directly, because when someMethod() is completed, the data wasn't received yet.

Should I use <i> tag for icons instead of <span>?

Why are they using <i> tag to display icons ?

Because it is:

  • Short
  • i stands for icon (although not in HTML)

Is it not a bad practice ?

Awful practice. It is a triumph of performance over semantics.

Copying a HashMap in Java

Since the OP has mentioned he does not have access to the base class inside of which exists a HashMap - I am afraid there are very few options available.

One (painfully slow and resource intensive) way of performing a deep copy of an object in Java is to abuse the 'Serializable' interface which many classes either intentionally - or unintentionally extend - and then utilise this to serialise your class to ByteStream. Upon de-serialisation you will have a deep copy of the object in question.

A guide for this can be found here: https://www.avajava.com/tutorials/lessons/how-do-i-perform-a-deep-clone-using-serializable.html

Applying CSS styles to all elements inside a DIV

Write all class/id CSS as below. #applyCSS ID will be parent of all CSS code.

For example you add class .ui-bar-a in CSS for applying to your div:

#applyCSS .ui-bar-a  { font-size:11px; } /* This will be your CSS part */

Below is your HTML part:

<div id="applyCSS">
   <div class="ui-bar-a">testing</div>

How to keep the local file or the remote file during merge using Git and the command line?

git checkout {branch-name} -- {file-name}

This will use the file from the branch of choice.

I like this because posh-git autocomplete works great with this. It also removes any ambiguity as to which branch is remote and which is local. And --theirs didn't work for me anyways.

.NET Core vs Mono

In a nutshell:

Mono = Compiler for C#

Mono Develop = Compiler+IDE

.Net Core = ASP Compiler

Current case for .Net Core is web only as soon as it adopts some open winform standard and wider language adoption, it could finally be the Microsoft killer dev powerhouse. Considering Oracle's recent Java licensing move, Microsoft have a huge time to shine.

How can I convert an HTML element to a canvas element?

You could spare yourself the transformations, you could use CSS3 Transitions to flip <div>'s and <ol>'s and any HTML tag you want. Here are some demos with source code explain to see and learn: http://www.webdesignerwall.com/trends/47-amazing-css3-animation-demos/

jQuery Array of all selected checkboxes (by class)

You can use the :checkbox and :checked pseudo-selectors and the .class selector, with that you will make sure that you are getting the right elements, only checked checkboxes with the class you specify.

Then you can easily use the Traversing/map method to get an array of values:

var values = $('input:checkbox:checked.group1').map(function () {
  return this.value;
}).get(); // ["18", "55", "10"]

How do I use 'git reset --hard HEAD' to revert to a previous commit?

WARNING: git clean -f will remove untracked files, meaning they're gone for good since they aren't stored in the repository. Make sure you really want to remove all untracked files before doing this.

Try this and see git clean -f.

git reset --hard will not remove untracked files, where as git-clean will remove any files from the tracked root directory that are not under Git tracking.

Alternatively, as @Paul Betts said, you can do this (beware though - that removes all ignored files too)

  • git clean -df
  • git clean -xdf CAUTION! This will also delete ignored files

Code formatting shortcuts in Android Studio for Operation Systems

I think is clear that for code formatting in Android Studio the combination keys are:

CTRL + ALT + L (Win/ Linux)

OPTION + CMD + L (Mac)

However, we forgot to answer about the Jumping into the method. Well to go into any declaration/implementation there three ways:

  1. Goto Declaration

CTRL + B or CTRL + CLICK (Win/ Linux)

CMD + B or CMD + CLICK (Mac)

  1. Goto Implementation

These commands show a list of all the classes/interfaces that are implementing the selected class/interface. On variables, it has the same effect as Goto Declaration.

CTRL + ALT + B (Win/ Linux)

CMD + ALT + B (Mac)

  1. Goto Type Declaration

These shortcuts will go into the declaration of the “AnyClass” class.

CTRL + SHIFT + B (Win/ Linux)

CTRL + SHIFT + B (Mac)

Additionally, there is a shortcut for Goto the Super Class. This will open the parent of the current symbol. Pretty much the opposite of Goto Implementation. For overridden methods, it will open its parent implementation.

CTRL + U (Win/ Linux)

CMD + U (Mac)

How to create a user in Django?

The correct way to create a user in Django is to use the create_user function. This will handle the hashing of the password, etc..

from django.contrib.auth.models import User

Unable to simultaneously satisfy constraints, will attempt to recover by breaking constraint

One thing to watch out for (at least this tripped me up) was that I was removing the constraint from the wrong view. The constraint I was trying to remove was not a child constraint of my view so when I did

myView.removeConstraint(theConstraint)

it wasn't actually removing anything because I needed to call

myView.superView.removeConstraint(theConstraint)

since the constraint was technically sibling constraint of my view.

Differences between dependencyManagement and dependencies in Maven

In Eclipse, there is one more feature in the dependencyManagement. When dependencies is used without it, the unfound dependencies are noticed in the pom file. If dependencyManagement is used, the unsolved dependencies remain unnoticed in the pom file and errors appear only in the java files. (imports and such...)

What is the incentive for curl to release the library for free?

I'm Daniel Stenberg.

I made curl

I founded the curl project back in 1998, I wrote the initial curl version and I created libcurl. I've written more than half of all the 24,000 commits done in the source code repository up to this point in time. I'm still the lead developer of the project. To a large extent, curl is my baby.

I shipped the first version of curl as open source since I wanted to "give back" to the open source world that had given me so much code already. I had used so much open source and I wanted to be as cool as the other open source authors.

Thanks to it being open source, literally thousands of people have been able to help us out over the years and have improved the products, the documentation. the web site and just about every other detail around the project. curl and libcurl would never have become the products that they are today were they not open source. The list of contributors now surpass 1900 names and currently the list grows with a few hundred names per year.

Thanks to curl and libcurl being open source and liberally licensed, they were immediately adopted in numerous products and soon shipped by operating systems and Linux distributions everywhere thus getting a reach beyond imagination.

Thanks to them being "everywhere", available and liberally licensed they got adopted and used everywhere and by everyone. It created a defacto transfer library standard.

At an estimated six billion installations world wide, we can safely say that curl is the most widely used internet transfer library in the world. It simply would not have gone there had it not been open source. curl runs in billions of mobile phones, a billion Windows 10 installations, in a half a billion games and several hundred million TVs - and more.

Should I have released it with proprietary license instead and charged users for it? It never occured to me, and it wouldn't have worked because I would never had managed to create this kind of stellar project on my own. And projects and companies wouldn't have used it.

Why do I still work on curl?

Now, why do I and my fellow curl developers still continue to develop curl and give it away for free to the world?

  1. I can't speak for my fellow project team members. We all participate in this for our own reasons.
  2. I think it's still the right thing to do. I'm proud of what we've accomplished and I truly want to make the world a better place and I think curl does its little part in this.
  3. There are still bugs to fix and features to add!
  4. curl is free but my time is not. I still have a job and someone still has to pay someone for me to get paid every month so that I can put food on the table for my family. I charge customers and companies to help them with curl. You too can get my help for a fee, which then indirectly helps making sure that curl continues to evolve, remain free and the kick-ass product it is.
  5. curl was my spare time project for twenty years before I started working with it full time. I've had great jobs and worked on awesome projects. I've been in a position of luxury where I could continue to work on curl on my spare time and keep shipping a quality product for free. My work on curl has given me friends, boosted my career and taken me to places I would not have been at otherwise.
  6. I would not do it differently if I could back and do it again.

Am I proud of what we've done?

Yes. So insanely much.

But I'm not satisfied with this and I'm not just leaning back, happy with what we've done. I keep working on curl every single day, to improve, to fix bugs, to add features and to make sure curl keeps being the number one file transfer solution for the world even going forward.

We do mistakes along the way. We make the wrong decisions and sometimes we implement things in crazy ways. But to win in the end and to conquer the world is about patience and endurance and constantly going back and reconsidering previous decisions and correcting previous mistakes. To continuously iterate, polish off rough edges and gradually improve over time.

Never give in. Never stop. Fix bugs. Add features. Iterate. To the end of time.

For real?

Yeah. For real.

Do I ever get tired? Is it ever done?

Sure I get tired at times. Working on something every day for over twenty years isn't a paved downhill road. Sometimes there are obstacles. During times things are rough. Occasionally people are just as ugly and annoying as people can be.

But curl is my life's project and I have patience. I have thick skin and I don't give up easily. The tough times pass and most days are awesome. I get to hang out with awesome people and the reward is knowing that my code helps driving the Internet revolution everywhere is an ego boost above normal.

curl will never be "done" and so far I think work on curl is pretty much the most fun I can imagine. Yes, I still think so even after twenty years in the driver's seat. And as long as I think it's fun I intend to keep at it.

How to pick an image from gallery (SD Card) for my app?

private static final int SELECT_PHOTO = 100;

Start intent

Intent photoPickerIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK);
photoPickerIntent.setType("image/*");
startActivityForResult(photoPickerIntent, SELECT_PHOTO);

Process result

@Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent imageReturnedIntent) {
    super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, imageReturnedIntent);

    switch(requestCode) {
    case SELECT_PHOTO:
        if(resultCode == RESULT_OK){
            Uri selectedImage = imageReturnedIntent.getData();
            InputStream imageStream = getContentResolver().openInputStream(selectedImage);
            Bitmap yourSelectedImage = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(imageStream);
        }
    }
}

Alternatively, you can also downsample your image to avoid OutOfMemory errors.

private Bitmap decodeUri(Uri selectedImage) throws FileNotFoundException {

        // Decode image size
        BitmapFactory.Options o = new BitmapFactory.Options();
        o.inJustDecodeBounds = true;
        BitmapFactory.decodeStream(getContentResolver().openInputStream(selectedImage), null, o);

        // The new size we want to scale to
        final int REQUIRED_SIZE = 140;

        // Find the correct scale value. It should be the power of 2.
        int width_tmp = o.outWidth, height_tmp = o.outHeight;
        int scale = 1;
        while (true) {
            if (width_tmp / 2 < REQUIRED_SIZE
               || height_tmp / 2 < REQUIRED_SIZE) {
                break;
            }
            width_tmp /= 2;
            height_tmp /= 2;
            scale *= 2;
        }

        // Decode with inSampleSize
        BitmapFactory.Options o2 = new BitmapFactory.Options();
        o2.inSampleSize = scale;
        return BitmapFactory.decodeStream(getContentResolver().openInputStream(selectedImage), null, o2);

    }

Memory address of variables in Java

Like Sunil said, this is not memory address.This is just the hashcode

To get the same @ content, you can:

If hashCode is not overridden in that class:

"@" + Integer.toHexString(obj.hashCode())

If hashCode is overridden, you get the original value with:

"@" + Integer.toHexString(System.identityHashCode(obj))

This is often confused with memory address because if you don't override hashCode(), the memory address is used to calculate the hash.

Working with TIFFs (import, export) in Python using numpy

First, I downloaded a test TIFF image from this page called a_image.tif. Then I opened with PIL like this:

>>> from PIL import Image
>>> im = Image.open('a_image.tif')
>>> im.show()

This showed the rainbow image. To convert to a numpy array, it's as simple as:

>>> import numpy
>>> imarray = numpy.array(im)

We can see that the size of the image and the shape of the array match up:

>>> imarray.shape
(44, 330)
>>> im.size
(330, 44)

And the array contains uint8 values:

>>> imarray
array([[  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246],
       [  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246],
       [  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246],
       ...,
       [  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246],
       [  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246],
       [  0,   1,   2, ..., 244, 245, 246]], dtype=uint8)

Once you're done modifying the array, you can turn it back into a PIL image like this:

>>> Image.fromarray(imarray)
<Image.Image image mode=L size=330x44 at 0x2786518>

Compare string with all values in list

I assume you mean list and not array? There is such a thing as an array in Python, but more often than not you want a list instead of an array.

The way to check if a list contains a value is to use in:

if paid[j] in d:
    # ...

How do I write a backslash (\) in a string?

The previous answer is correct but in this specific case I would recommend using the System.IO.Path.Combine method.

How to read multiple Integer values from a single line of input in Java?

Try this

public static void main(String[] args) {
    Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
    while (in.hasNext()) {
        if (in.hasNextInt())
            System.out.println(in.nextInt());
        else
            in.next();
    }
}

By default, Scanner uses the delimiter pattern "\p{javaWhitespace}+" which matches at least one white space as delimiter. you don't have to do anything special.

If you want to match either whitespace(1 or more) or a comma, replace the Scanner invocation with this

Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in).useDelimiter("[,\\s+]");

What is the difference between RTP or RTSP in a streaming server?

I hear your pain. I'm going through this right now (years later). From what I've learned, you can think of RTSP as a "VCR controller", the protocol allows you to specify which streams (presentations) you want to play, it will then send you a description of the media, and then you can use RTSP to play, stop, pause, and record the remote stream. The media itself goes over RTP. RTSP is normally implemented over a different socket or communication layer. Although it is simply a protocol, most often it's implemented by a server over a socket. For live streams, the RTSP stream you request is simply a name of a stream. It doesn't need to refer to a file on the server, the server's RTSP implementation can parse that stream, put together a live graph, and then provide the SDP (description) for that stream name. But, this is of course specific to the way the RTSP server has been implemented. For "live" streams, it's probably simpler to just use RTP, but you'll need a way to transfer the SDP from the RTP server to the client that wants to play that stream.

Adding additional data to select options using jQuery

To me, it sounds like you want to create a new attribute? Do you want

<option value="2" value2="somethingElse">...

To do this, you can do

$(your selector).attr('value2', 'the value');

And then to retrieve it, you can use

$(your selector).attr('value2')

How to use Visual Studio C++ Compiler?

You may be forgetting something. Before #include <iostream>, write #include <stdafx.h> and maybe that will help. Then, when you are done writing, click test, than click output from build, then when it is done processing/compiling, press Ctrl+F5 to open the Command Prompt and it should have the output and "press any key to continue."

How to access ssis package variables inside script component

I had the same problem as the OP except I remembered to declare the ReadOnlyVariables.

After some playing around, I discovered it was the name of my variable that was the issue. "File_Path" in SSIS somehow got converted to "FilePath". C# does not play nicely with underscores in variable names.

So to access the variable, I type

string fp = Variables.FilePath;

In the PreExecute() method of the Script Component.

How to access child's state in React?

Its 2020 and lots of you will come here looking for a similar solution but with Hooks ( They are great! ) and with latest approaches in terms of code cleanliness and syntax.

So as previous answers had stated, the best approach to this kind of problem is to hold the state outside of child component fieldEditor. You could do that in multiple ways.

The most "complex" is with global context (state) that both parent and children could access and modify. Its a great solution when components are very deep in the tree hierarchy and so its costly to send props in each level.

In this case I think its not worth it, and more simple approach will bring us the results we want, just using the powerful React.useState().

Approach with React.useState() hook, way simpler than with Class components

As said we will deal with changes and store the data of our child component fieldEditor in our parent fieldForm. To do that we will send a reference to the function that will deal and apply the changes to the fieldForm state, you could do that with:

function FieldForm({ fields }) {
  const [fieldsValues, setFieldsValues] = React.useState({});
  const handleChange = (event, fieldId) => {
    let newFields = { ...fieldsValues };
    newFields[fieldId] = event.target.value;

    setFieldsValues(newFields);
  };

  return (
    <div>
      {fields.map(field => (
        <FieldEditor
          key={field}
          id={field}
          handleChange={handleChange}
          value={fieldsValues[field]}
        />
      ))}
      <div>{JSON.stringify(fieldsValues)}</div>
    </div>
  );
}

Note that React.useState({}) will return an array with position 0 being the value specified on call (Empty object in this case), and position 1 being the reference to the function that modifies the value.

Now with the child component, FieldEditor, you don't even need to create a function with a return statement, a lean constant with an arrow function will do!

const FieldEditor = ({ id, value, handleChange }) => (
  <div className="field-editor">
    <input onChange={event => handleChange(event, id)} value={value} />
  </div>
);

Aaaaand we are done, nothing more, with just these two slime functional components we have our end goal "access" our child FieldEditor value and show it off in our parent.

You could check the accepted answer from 5 years ago and see how Hooks made React code leaner (By a lot!).

Hope my answer helps you learn and understand more about Hooks, and if you want to check a working example here it is.

How to set <Text> text to upper case in react native

iOS textTransform support has been added to react-native in 0.56 version. Android textTransform support has been added in 0.59 version. It accepts one of these options:

  • none
  • uppercase
  • lowercase
  • capitalize

Example:

<View>
  <Text style={{ textTransform: 'uppercase'}}>

javascript: detect scroll end

OK Here is a Good And Proper Solution

You have a Div call with an id="myDiv"

so the function goes.

function GetScrollerEndPoint()
{
   var scrollHeight = $("#myDiv").prop('scrollHeight');
   var divHeight = $("#myDiv").height();
   var scrollerEndPoint = scrollHeight - divHeight;

   var divScrollerTop =  $("#myDiv").scrollTop();
   if(divScrollerTop === scrollerEndPoint)
   {
       //Your Code
       //The Div scroller has reached the bottom
   }
}

How to send an HTTP request with a header parameter?

If it says the API key is listed as a header, more than likely you need to set it in the headers option of your http request. Normally something like this :

headers: {'Authorization': '[your API key]'}

Here is an example from another Question

$http({method: 'GET', url: '[the-target-url]', headers: {
  'Authorization': '[your-api-key]'}
});

Edit : Just saw you wanted to store the response in a variable. In this case I would probably just use AJAX. Something like this :

$.ajax({
   type : "GET",
   url : "[the-target-url]",
   beforeSend: function(xhr){xhr.setRequestHeader('Authorization', '[your-api-key]');},
   success : function(result) {
       //set your variable to the result
   },
   error : function(result) {
     //handle the error
   }
 });

I got this from this question and I'm at work so I can't test it at the moment but looks solid

Edit 2: Pretty sure you should be able to use this line :

headers: {'Authorization': '[your API key]'},

instead of the beforeSend line in the first edit. This may be simpler for you

How to make google spreadsheet refresh itself every 1 minute?

I had a similar problem with crypto updates. A kludgy hack that gets around this is to include a '+ now() - now()' stunt at the end of the cell formula, with the setting as above to recalculate every minute. This worked for my price updates, but, definitely an ugly hack.

How to set background color of an Activity to white programmatically?

You can use this to call predefined android colours:

element.setBackgroundColor(android.R.color.red);

If you want to use one of your own custom colours, you can add your custom colour to strings.xml and then use the below to call it.

element.setBackgroundColor(R.color.mycolour);

However if you want to set the colour in your layout.xml you can modify and add the below to any element that accepts it.

android:background="#FFFFFF"

Will iOS launch my app into the background if it was force-quit by the user?

The answer is YES, but shouldn't use 'Background Fetch' or 'Remote notification'. PushKit is the answer you desire.

In summary, PushKit, the new framework in ios 8, is the new push notification mechanism which can silently launch your app into the background with no visual alert prompt even your app was killed by swiping out from app switcher, amazingly you even cannot see it from app switcher.

PushKit reference from Apple:

The PushKit framework provides the classes for your iOS apps to receive pushes from remote servers. Pushes can be of one of two types: standard and VoIP. Standard pushes can deliver notifications just as in previous versions of iOS. VoIP pushes provide additional functionality on top of the standard push that is needed to VoIP apps to perform on-demand processing of the push before displaying a notification to the user.

To deploy this new feature, please refer to this tutorial: https://zeropush.com/guide/guide-to-pushkit-and-voip - I've tested it on my device and it works as expected.

Why is php not running?

Check out the apache config files. For Debian/Ubuntu theyre in /etc/apache2/sites-available/ for RedHat/CentOS/etc they're in /etc/httpd/conf.d/. If you've just installed it, the file in there is probably named default.

Make sure that the config file in there is pointing to the correct folder and then make sure your scripts are located there.

The line you're looking for in those files is DocumentRoot /path/to/directory.

For a blank install, your php files most likely needs to be in /var/www/.

What you'll also need to do is find your php.ini file, probably located at /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini or /etc/php.ini and find the entry for display_errors and switch it to On.

How do I remove leading whitespace in Python?

The question doesn't address multiline strings, but here is how you would strip leading whitespace from a multiline string using python's standard library textwrap module. If we had a string like:

s = """
    line 1 has 4 leading spaces
    line 2 has 4 leading spaces
    line 3 has 4 leading spaces
"""

if we print(s) we would get output like:

>>> print(s)
    this has 4 leading spaces 1
    this has 4 leading spaces 2
    this has 4 leading spaces 3

and if we used textwrap.dedent:

>>> import textwrap
>>> print(textwrap.dedent(s))
this has 4 leading spaces 1
this has 4 leading spaces 2
this has 4 leading spaces 3

PHP remove special character from string

You want str replace, because performance-wise it's much cheaper and still fits your needs!

$title = str_replace( array( '\'', '"', ',' , ';', '<', '>' ), ' ', $rawtitle);

(Unless this is all about security and sql injection, in that case, I'd rather to go with a POSITIVE list of ALLOWED characters... even better, stick with tested, proven routines.)

Btw, since the OP talked about title-setting: I wouldn't replace special chars with nothing, but with a space. A superficious space is less of a problem than two words glued together...

How to read until EOF from cin in C++

Wait, am I understanding you correctly? You're using cin for keyboard input, and you want to stop reading input when the user enters the EOF character? Why would the user ever type in the EOF character? Or did you mean you want to stop reading from a file at the EOF?

If you're actually trying to use cin to read an EOF character, then why not just specify the EOF as the delimiter?

// Needed headers: iostream

char buffer[256];
cin.get( buffer, '\x1A' );

If you mean to stop reading from a file at the EOF, then just use getline and once again specify the EOF as the delimiter.

// Needed headers: iostream, string, and fstream

string buffer;

    ifstream fin;
    fin.open("test.txt");
    if(fin.is_open()) {
        getline(fin,buffer,'\x1A');

        fin.close();
    }

Perform .join on value in array of objects

I've also come across using the reduce method, this is what it looks like:

[
  {name: "Joe", age: 22},
  {name: "Kevin", age: 24},
  {name: "Peter", age: 21}
].reduce(function (a, b) {return (a.name || a) + ", " + b.name})

The (a.name || a) is so the first element is treated correctly, but the rest (where a is a string, and so a.name is undefined) isn't treated as an object.

Edit: I've now refactored it further to this:

x.reduce(function(a, b) {return a + ["", ", "][+!!a.length] + b.name;}, "");

which I believe is cleaner as a is always a string, b is always an object (due to the use of the optional initialValue parameter in reduce)

Edit 6 months later: Oh what was I thinking. "cleaner". I've angered the code Gods.

Is there a version of JavaScript's String.indexOf() that allows for regular expressions?

For data with sparse matches, using string.search is the fastest across browsers. It re-slices a string each iteration to :

function lastIndexOfSearch(string, regex, index) {
  if(index === 0 || index)
     string = string.slice(0, Math.max(0,index));
  var idx;
  var offset = -1;
  while ((idx = string.search(regex)) !== -1) {
    offset += idx + 1;
    string = string.slice(idx + 1);
  }
  return offset;
}

For dense data I made this. It's complex compared to the execute method, but for dense data, it's 2-10x faster than every other method I tried, and about 100x faster than the accepted solution. The main points are:

  1. It calls exec on the regex passed in once to verify there is a match or quit early. I do this using (?= in a similar method, but on IE checking with exec is dramatically faster.
  2. It constructs and caches a modified regex in the format '(r).(?!.?r)'
  3. The new regex is executed and the results from either that exec, or the first exec, are returned;

    function lastIndexOfGroupSimple(string, regex, index) {
        if (index === 0 || index) string = string.slice(0, Math.max(0, index + 1));
        regex.lastIndex = 0;
        var lastRegex, index
        flags = 'g' + (regex.multiline ? 'm' : '') + (regex.ignoreCase ? 'i' : ''),
        key = regex.source + '$' + flags,
        match = regex.exec(string);
        if (!match) return -1;
        if (lastIndexOfGroupSimple.cache === undefined) lastIndexOfGroupSimple.cache = {};
        lastRegex = lastIndexOfGroupSimple.cache[key];
        if (!lastRegex)
            lastIndexOfGroupSimple.cache[key] = lastRegex = new RegExp('.*(' + regex.source + ')(?!.*?' + regex.source + ')', flags);
        index = match.index;
        lastRegex.lastIndex = match.index;
        return (match = lastRegex.exec(string)) ? lastRegex.lastIndex - match[1].length : index;
    };

jsPerf of methods

I don't understand the purpose of the tests up top. Situations that require a regex are impossible to compare against a call to indexOf, which I think is the point of making the method in the first place. To get the test to pass, it makes more sense to use 'xxx+(?!x)', than adjust the way the regex iterates.

enable/disable zoom in Android WebView

Ive modifiet Lukas Knuth's solution a little:

1) There's no need to subclass the webview,

2) the code will crash during bytecode verification on some Android 1.6 devices if you don't put nonexistant methods in seperate classes

3) Zoom controls will still appear if the user scrolls up/down a page. I simply set the zoom controller container to visibility GONE

  wv.getSettings().setSupportZoom(true);
  wv.getSettings().setBuiltInZoomControls(true);
  if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= android.os.Build.VERSION_CODES.HONEYCOMB) {
    // Use the API 11+ calls to disable the controls
    // Use a seperate class to obtain 1.6 compatibility
    new Runnable() {
      public void run() {
        wv.getSettings().setDisplayZoomControls(false);
      }
    }.run();
  } else {
    final ZoomButtonsController zoom_controll =
        (ZoomButtonsController) wv.getClass().getMethod("getZoomButtonsController").invoke(wv, null);
    zoom_controll.getContainer().setVisibility(View.GONE);
  }

How do I run a spring boot executable jar in a Production environment?

You can use the application called Supervisor. In supervisor config you can define multiple services and ways to execute the same.

For Java and Spring boot applications the command would be java -jar springbootapp.jar.

Options can be provided to keep the application running always.So if the EC2 restart then Supervisor will restart you application

I found Supervisor easy to use compared to putting startup scripts in /etc/init.d/.The startup scripts would hang or go into waiting state in case of errors .

How to update RecyclerView Adapter Data?

Another option is to use diffutil . It will compare the original list against the new list and use the new list as the update if there is a change.

Basically, we can use DiffUtil to compare the old data vs new data and let it call notifyItemRangeRemoved, and notifyItemRangeChanged and notifyItemRangeInserted on your behalf.

A quick example of using diffUtil instead of notifyDataSetChanged:

DiffResult diffResult = DiffUtil
                .calculateDiff(new MyDiffUtilCB(getItems(), items));

//any clear up on memory here and then
diffResult.dispatchUpdatesTo(this);

//and then, if necessary
items.clear()
items.addAll(newItems)

I do the calculateDiff work off the main thread in case it's a big list.

g++ undefined reference to typeinfo

One possible reason is because you are declaring a virtual function without defining it.

When you declare it without defining it in the same compilation unit, you're indicating that it's defined somewhere else - this means the linker phase will try to find it in one of the other compilation units (or libraries).

An example of defining the virtual function is:

virtual void fn() { /* insert code here */ }

In this case, you are attaching a definition to the declaration, which means the linker doesn't need to resolve it later.

The line

virtual void fn();

declares fn() without defining it and will cause the error message you asked about.

It's very similar to the code:

extern int i;
int *pi = &i;

which states that the integer i is declared in another compilation unit which must be resolved at link time (otherwise pi can't be set to it's address).

Then I chose an other version, Android 4.0 this time, clicked apply, then chose Android 2.2 again, clicked apply. This worked for me.

// Technically, .933 would be milliseconds.

A better solution would be:

// Rounds the value
const timestamp = Math.round(new Date() / 1000); // 1405792937

// - OR -

// Floors the value
const timestamp = new Date() / 1000 | 0; // 1405792936

Values without floats are also safer for conditional statements, as the float may produce unwanted results. The granularity you obtain with a float may be more than needed.

if (1405792936.993 < 1405792937) // true

How can I find the OWNER of an object in Oracle?

I found this question as the top result while Googling how to find the owner of a table in Oracle, so I thought that I would contribute a table specific answer for others' convenience.

To find the owner of a specific table in an Oracle DB, use the following query:

select owner from ALL_TABLES where TABLE_NAME ='<MY-TABLE-NAME>';

What is a good pattern for using a Global Mutex in C#?

Neither Mutex nor WinApi CreateMutex() works for me.

An alternate solution:

static class Program
{
    [STAThread]
    static void Main()
    {
        if (SingleApplicationDetector.IsRunning()) {
            return;
        }

        Application.Run(new MainForm());

        SingleApplicationDetector.Close();
    }
}

And the SingleApplicationDetector:

using System;
using System.Reflection;
using System.Runtime.InteropServices;
using System.Security.AccessControl;
using System.Threading;

public static class SingleApplicationDetector
{
    public static bool IsRunning()
    {
        string guid = ((GuidAttribute)Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetCustomAttributes(typeof(GuidAttribute), false).GetValue(0)).Value.ToString();
        var semaphoreName = @"Global\" + guid;
        try {
            __semaphore = Semaphore.OpenExisting(semaphoreName, SemaphoreRights.Synchronize);

            Close();
            return true;
        }
        catch (Exception ex) {
            __semaphore = new Semaphore(0, 1, semaphoreName);
            return false;
        }
    }

    public static void Close()
    {
        if (__semaphore != null) {
            __semaphore.Close();
            __semaphore = null;
        }
    }

    private static Semaphore __semaphore;
}

Reason to use Semaphore instead of Mutex:

The Mutex class enforces thread identity, so a mutex can be released only by the thread that acquired it. By contrast, the Semaphore class does not enforce thread identity.

Can one class extend two classes?

Java does not support multiple inheritance.

There are a few workarounds I can think of:

The first is aggregation: make a class that takes those two activities as fields.

The second is to use interfaces.

The third is to rethink your design: does it make sense for a Preferences class to be both a PreferenceActivity and an AbstractBillingActivity?

Creating a SearchView that looks like the material design guidelines

The first screenshot in your question is not a public widget. The support SearchView (android.support.v7.widget.SearchView) mimics Android 5.0 Lollipop's SearchView (android.widget.SearchView). Your second screenshot is used by other material designed apps like Google Play.

The SearchView in your first screenshot is used in Drive, YouTube and other closed source Google Apps. Fortunately, it is also used in the Android 5.0 Dialer. You can try to backport the view, but it uses some 5.0 APIs.

The classes which you will want to look at are:

SearchEditTextLayout, AnimUtils, and DialtactsActivity to understand how to use the View. You will also need resources from ContactsCommon.

Best of luck.

Not Able To Debug App In Android Studio

In my case near any line a red circle appeared with a cross and red line with a message: "No executable code found at line ..." like in Android studio gradle breakpoint No executable code found at line.

A problem appeared after updating of build.gradle. We included Kotlin support, so a number of methods exceeded 64K. Problem lines:

buildTypes {
    debug {
        minifyEnabled true

Change them to:

buildTypes {
    debug {
        minifyEnabled false
        debuggable true

Then sync a gradle with a button "Sync Project with Gradle Files". If after restarting of your application you will get an error: "Error:The number of method references in a .dex file cannot exceed 64K. Learn how to resolve this issue at https://developer.android.com/tools/building/multidex.html", then, like in The number of method references in a .dex file cannot exceed 64k API 17 add the following lines to build.gradle:

android {

    defaultConfig {
        ...

        // Enabling multidex support.
        multiDexEnabled true
    }
    ...
}

dependencies {
    implementation 'com.android.support:multidex:1.0.2'
}

UPDATE

According to https://developer.android.com/studio/build/multidex.html do the following to enable multidex support below Android 5.0. Else it won't start in these devices.

Open AndroidManifest and find tag <application>. Near android:name= is a reference to an Application class. Open this class. Extend Application class with MultiDexApplication so:

public class MyApplication extends MultiDexApplication { ... }

If no Application class set, write so:

<application
        android:name="android.support.multidex.MultiDexApplication" >
    ...
</application>

Jenkins Pipeline Wipe Out Workspace

Like @gotgenes pointed out with Jenkins Version. 2.74, the below works, not sure since when, maybe if some one can edit and add the version above

cleanWs()

With, Jenkins Version 2.16 and the Workspace Cleanup Plugin, that I have, I use

step([$class: 'WsCleanup'])

to delete the workspace.

You can view it by going to

JENKINS_URL/job/<any Pipeline project>/pipeline-syntax

Then selecting "step: General Build Step" from Sample step and then selecting "Delete workspace when build is done" from Build step

React : difference between <Route exact path="/" /> and <Route path="/" />

In short, if you have multiple routes defined for your app's routing, enclosed with Switch component like this;

<Switch>

  <Route exact path="/" component={Home} />
  <Route path="/detail" component={Detail} />

  <Route exact path="/functions" component={Functions} />
  <Route path="/functions/:functionName" component={FunctionDetails} />

</Switch>

Then you have to put exact keyword to the Route which it's path is also included by another Route's path. For example home path / is included in all paths so it needs to have exact keyword to differentiate it from other paths which start with /. The reason is also similar to /functions path. If you want to use another route path like /functions-detail or /functions/open-door which includes /functions in it then you need to use exact for the /functions route.

jQuery: how to change title of document during .ready()?

If you have got a serverside script get_title.php that echoes the current title session this works fine in jQuery:

$.get('get_title.php',function(*respons*){
    title=*respons* + 'whatever you want'
    $(document).attr('title',title)
})

How to get StackPanel's children to fill maximum space downward?

The reason that this is happening is because the stack panel measures every child element with positive infinity as the constraint for the axis that it is stacking elements along. The child controls have to return how big they want to be (positive infinity is not a valid return from the MeasureOverride in either axis) so they return the smallest size where everything will fit. They have no way of knowing how much space they really have to fill.

If your view doesn’t need to have a scrolling feature and the answer above doesn't suit your needs, I would suggest implement your own panel. You can probably derive straight from StackPanel and then all you will need to do is change the ArrangeOverride method so that it divides the remaining space up between its child elements (giving them each the same amount of extra space). Elements should render fine if they are given more space than they wanted, but if you give them less you will start to see glitches.

If you want to be able to scroll the whole thing then I am afraid things will be quite a bit more difficult, because the ScrollViewer gives you an infinite amount of space to work with which will put you in the same position as the child elements were originally. In this situation you might want to create a new property on your new panel which lets you specify the viewport size, you should be able to bind this to the ScrollViewer’s size. Ideally you would implement IScrollInfo, but that starts to get complicated if you are going to implement all of it properly.

Get top first record from duplicate records having no unique identity

YOur best bet is to fix the datbase design and add the identioty column to the table. Why do you havea table without one in the first place? Especially one with duplicate records! Clearly the database itself needs redesigning.

And why do you have to have this in a view, why isn't your solution with the temp table a valid solution? Views are not usually a really good thing to do to a perfectly nice database.

What is the difference between declarations, providers, and import in NgModule?

Components are declared, Modules are imported, and Services are provided. An example I'm working with:

import { BrowserModule } from '@angular/platform-browser';
import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';

import { AppComponent } from './app.component';
import {FormsModule} from '@angular/forms';
import { UserComponent } from './components/user/user.component';
import { StateService } from './services/state.service';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent,
    UserComponent
  ],
  imports: [
    BrowserModule,
    FormsModule
  ],
  providers: [ StateService ],
  bootstrap: [ AppComponent ]
})

How to make Java work with SQL Server?

Do not put both the old sqljdbc.jar and the new sqljdbc4.jar in your classpath - this will make it (more or less) unpredictable which classes are being used, if both of those JARs contain classes with the same qualified names.

You said you put sqljdbc4.jar in your classpath - did you remove the old sqljdbc.jar from the classpath? You said "it didn't work", what does that mean exactly? Are you sure you don't still have the old JAR in your classpath somewhere (maybe not explicitly)?

How to configure "Shorten command line" method for whole project in IntelliJ

You can set up a default way to shorten the command line and use it as a template for further configurations by changing the default JUnit Run/Debug Configuration template. Then all new Run/Debug configuration you create in project will use the same option.

Here is the related blog post about configurable command line shortener option.

Ant if else condition?

The if attribute does not exist for <copy>. It should be applied to the <target>.

Below is an example of how you can use the depends attribute of a target and the if and unless attributes to control execution of dependent targets. Only one of the two should execute.

<target name="prepare-copy" description="copy file based on condition"
    depends="prepare-copy-true, prepare-copy-false">
</target>

<target name="prepare-copy-true" description="copy file based on condition"
    if="copy-condition">
    <echo>Get file based on condition being true</echo>
    <copy file="${some.dir}/true" todir="." />
</target>

<target name="prepare-copy-false" description="copy file based on false condition"
    unless="copy-condition">
    <echo>Get file based on condition being false</echo>
    <copy file="${some.dir}/false" todir="." />
</target>

If you are using ANT 1.8+, then you can use property expansion and it will evaluate the value of the property to determine the boolean value. So, you could use if="${copy-condition}" instead of if="copy-condition".

In ANT 1.7.1 and earlier, you specify the name of the property. If the property is defined and has any value (even an empty string), then it will evaluate to true.

How to get the fragment instance from the FragmentActivity?

You can use use findFragmentById in FragmentManager.

Since you are using the Support library (you are extending FragmentActivity) you can use:

getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.pageview)

If you are not using the support library (so you are on Honeycomb+ and you don't want to use the support library):

getFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.pageview)

Please consider that using the support library is recommended even on Honeycomb+.

Sending HTML email using Python

From Python v2.7.14 documentation - 18.1.11. email: Examples:

Here’s an example of how to create an HTML message with an alternative plain text version:

#! /usr/bin/python

import smtplib

from email.mime.multipart import MIMEMultipart
from email.mime.text import MIMEText

# me == my email address
# you == recipient's email address
me = "[email protected]"
you = "[email protected]"

# Create message container - the correct MIME type is multipart/alternative.
msg = MIMEMultipart('alternative')
msg['Subject'] = "Link"
msg['From'] = me
msg['To'] = you

# Create the body of the message (a plain-text and an HTML version).
text = "Hi!\nHow are you?\nHere is the link you wanted:\nhttp://www.python.org"
html = """\

# Record the MIME types of both parts - text/plain and text/html.
part1 = MIMEText(text, 'plain')
part2 = MIMEText(html, 'html')

# Attach parts into message container.
# According to RFC 2046, the last part of a multipart message, in this case
# the HTML message, is best and preferred.
msg.attach(part1)
msg.attach(part2)

# Send the message via local SMTP server.
s = smtplib.SMTP('localhost')
# sendmail function takes 3 arguments: sender's address, recipient's address
# and message to send - here it is sent as one string.

Submitting HTML form using Jquery AJAX

If you add:

jquery.form.min.js

You can simply do this:

<script>
$('#myform').ajaxForm(function(response) {
  alert(response);
});

// this will register the AJAX for <form id="myform" action="some_url">
// and when you submit the form using <button type="submit"> or $('myform').submit(), then it will send your request and alert response
</script>

NOTE:

You could use simple $('FORM').serialize() as suggested in post above, but that will not work for FILE INPUTS... ajaxForm() will.

Practical uses for AtomicInteger

You can implement non-blocking locks using compareAndSwap (CAS) on atomic integers or longs. The "Tl2" Software Transactional Memory paper describes this:

We associate a special versioned write-lock with every transacted memory location. In its simplest form, the versioned write-lock is a single word spinlock that uses a CAS operation to acquire the lock and a store to release it. Since one only needs a single bit to indicate that the lock is taken, we use the rest of the lock word to hold a version number.

What it is describing is first read the atomic integer. Split this up into an ignored lock-bit and the version number. Attempt to CAS write it as the lock-bit cleared with the current version number to the lock-bit set and the next version number. Loop until you succeed and your are the thread which owns the lock. Unlock by setting the current version number with the lock-bit cleared. The paper describes using the version numbers in the locks to coordinate that threads have a consistent set of reads when they write.

This article describes that processors have hardware support for compare and swap operations making the very efficient. It also claims:

non-blocking CAS-based counters using atomic variables have better performance than lock-based counters in low to moderate contention

Method List in Visual Studio Code

Yes, there is the workbench.action.gotoSymbol command. On Windows and Linux it's set to CTRL+Shift+O by default.

If this command isn't available for the file types you are working with then you should take a look at the VSCode extensions. Not all languages support this feature.

Disabled form inputs do not appear in the request

I find this works easier. readonly the input field, then style it so the end user knows it's read only. inputs placed here (from AJAX for example) can still submit, without extra code.

<input readonly style="color: Grey; opacity: 1; ">

Drop shadow on a div container?

you might want to try this. Seems to be pretty easy and works on IE6 and Moz atleast.

<div id ="show" style="background-color:Silver;width:100px;height:100px;visibility:visible;border-bottom:outset 1px black;border-right:outset 1px black;" ></div>

The general syntax is : border-[postion]:[border-style] [border-width] [border-color] | inherit

The list of available [border-style]s are :

  • dashed
  • dotted
  • double
  • groove
  • hidden
  • inset
  • none
  • outset
  • ridge
  • solid
  • inherit

PHP - Modify current object in foreach loop

There are 2 ways of doing this

foreach($questions as $key => $question){
    $questions[$key]['answers'] = $answers_model->get_answers_by_question_id($question['question_id']);
}

This way you save the key, so you can update it again in the main $questions variable

or

foreach($questions as &$question){

Adding the & will keep the $questions updated. But I would say the first one is recommended even though this is shorter (see comment by Paystey)

Per the PHP foreach documentation:

In order to be able to directly modify array elements within the loop precede $value with &. In that case the value will be assigned by reference.

What to use now Google News API is deprecated?

Looks like you might have until the end of 2013 before they officially close it down. http://groups.google.com/group/google-ajax-search-api/browse_thread/thread/6aaa1b3529620610/d70f8eec3684e431?lnk=gst&q=news+api#d70f8eec3684e431

Also, it sounds like they are building a replacement... but it's going to cost you.

I'd say, go to a different service. I think bing has a news API.

How to remove all the punctuation in a string? (Python)

Strip won't work. It only removes leading and trailing instances, not everything in between: http://docs.python.org/2/library/stdtypes.html#str.strip

Having fun with filter:

import string
asking = "hello! what's your name?"
predicate = lambda x:x not in string.punctuation
filter(predicate, asking)

Nodejs - Redirect url

The logic of determining a "wrong" url is specific to your application. It could be a simple file not found error or something else if you are doing a RESTful app. Once you've figured that out, sending a redirect is as simple as:

response.writeHead(302, {
  'Location': 'your/404/path.html'
  //add other headers here...
});
response.end();

POST request not allowed - 405 Not Allowed - nginx, even with headers included

I had similiar issue but only with Chrome, Firefox was working. I noticed that Chrome was adding an Origin parameter in the header request.

So in my nginx.conf I added the parameter to avoid it under location/ block

proxy_set_header Origin "";

php timeout - set_time_limit(0); - don't work

I usually use set_time_limit(30) within the main loop (so each loop iteration is limited to 30 seconds rather than the whole script).

I do this in multiple database update scripts, which routinely take several minutes to complete but less than a second for each iteration - keeping the 30 second limit means the script won't get stuck in an infinite loop if I am stupid enough to create one.

I must admit that my choice of 30 seconds for the limit is somewhat arbitrary - my scripts could actually get away with 2 seconds instead, but I feel more comfortable with 30 seconds given the actual application - of course you could use whatever value you feel is suitable.

Hope this helps!

Count number of iterations in a foreach loop

Try:

$counter = 0;
foreach ($Contents as $item) {
          something
          your code  ...
      $counter++;
}
$total_count=$counter-1;

How do I display Ruby on Rails form validation error messages one at a time?

I resolved it like this:

<% @user.errors.each do |attr, msg| %>
  <li>
    <%= @user.errors.full_messages_for(attr).first if @user.errors[attr].first == msg %>
  </li>
<% end %>

This way you are using the locales for the error messages.

How do I use a custom Serializer with Jackson?

In my case (Spring 3.2.4 and Jackson 2.3.1), XML configuration for custom serializer:

<mvc:annotation-driven>
    <mvc:message-converters register-defaults="false">
        <bean class="org.springframework.http.converter.json.MappingJackson2HttpMessageConverter">
            <property name="objectMapper">
                <bean class="org.springframework.http.converter.json.Jackson2ObjectMapperFactoryBean">
                    <property name="serializers">
                        <array>
                            <bean class="com.example.business.serializer.json.CustomObjectSerializer"/>
                        </array>
                    </property>
                </bean>
            </property>
        </bean>
    </mvc:message-converters>
</mvc:annotation-driven>

was in unexplained way overwritten back to default by something.

This worked for me:

CustomObject.java

@JsonSerialize(using = CustomObjectSerializer.class)
public class CustomObject {

    private Long value;

    public Long getValue() {
        return value;
    }

    public void setValue(Long value) {
        this.value = value;
    }
}

CustomObjectSerializer.java

public class CustomObjectSerializer extends JsonSerializer<CustomObject> {

    @Override
    public void serialize(CustomObject value, JsonGenerator jgen,
        SerializerProvider provider) throws IOException,JsonProcessingException {
        jgen.writeStartObject();
        jgen.writeNumberField("y", value.getValue());
        jgen.writeEndObject();
    }

    @Override
    public Class<CustomObject> handledType() {
        return CustomObject.class;
    }
}

No XML configuration (<mvc:message-converters>(...)</mvc:message-converters>) is needed in my solution.

PackagesNotFoundError: The following packages are not available from current channels:

Thanks, Max S. conda-forge worked for me as well.

scikit-learn on Anaconda-Jupyter Notebook.

Upgrading my scikit-learn from 0.19.1 to 0.19.2 in anaconda installed on Ubuntu on Google VM instance:

Run the following commands in the terminal:

First, check available the packages with versions

conda list

It will show packages and their installed versions in the output:

scikit-learn              0.19.1           py36hedc7406_0

Upgrade to 0.19.2 July 2018 release.

conda config --append channels conda-forge
conda install scikit-learn=0.19.2

Now check the version installed correctly or not?

conda list

Output is:

scikit-learn              0.19.2          py36_blas_openblasha84fab4_201  [blas_openblas]  conda-forge

Note: Don't use pip command if you are using Anaconda or Miniconda

I tried following commands:

!conda update conda
!pip install -U scikit-learn

It will install the required packages also will show in the conda list but when try to import that package it will not work.

On the website http://scikit-learn.org/stable/install.html it is mentioned as: Warning To upgrade or uninstall scikit-learn installed with Anaconda or conda you should not use the pip.

"unadd" a file to svn before commit

svn rm --keep-local folder_name

Note: In svn 1.5.4 svn rm deletes unversioned files even when --keep-local is specified. See http://svn.haxx.se/users/archive-2009-11/0058.shtml for more information.

Repeat table headers in print mode

Some browsers repeat the thead element on each page, as they are supposed to. Others need some help: Add this to your CSS:

thead {display: table-header-group;}
tfoot {display: table-header-group;}

Opera 7.5 and IE 5 won't repeat headers no matter what you try.

How to check if IEnumerable is null or empty?

Another way would be to get the Enumerator and call the MoveNext() method to see if there are any items:

if (mylist != null && mylist.GetEnumerator().MoveNext())
{
    // The list is not null or empty
}

This works for IEnumerable as well as IEnumerable<T>.

How to change cursor from pointer to finger using jQuery?

Update! New & improved! Find plugin @ GitHub!

On another note, while that method is simple, I've created a jQuery plug (found at this jsFiddle, just copy and past code between comment lines) that makes changing the cursor on any element as simple as $("element").cursor("pointer").

But that's not all! Act now and you'll get the hand functions position & ishover for no extra charge! That's right, 2 very handy cursor functions ... FREE!

They work as simple as seen in the demo:

$("h3").cursor("isHover"); // if hovering over an h3 element, will return true,
    // else false
// also handy as
$("h2, h3").cursor("isHover"); // unless your h3 is inside an h2, this will be
    // false as it checks to see if cursor is hovered over both elements, not just the last!
// And to make this deal even sweeter - use the following to get a jQuery object
// of ALL elements the cursor is currently hovered over on demand!
$.cursor("isHover");

Also:

$.cursor("position"); // will return the current cursor position as { x: i, y: i }
    // at anytime you call it!

Supplies are limited, so Act Now!

How to remove last n characters from every element in the R vector

Here is an example of what I would do. I hope it's what you're looking for.

char_array = c("foo_bar","bar_foo","apple","beer")
a = data.frame("data"=char_array,"data2"=1:4)
a$data = substr(a$data,1,nchar(a$data)-3)

a should now contain:

  data data2
1 foo_ 1
2 bar_ 2
3   ap 3
4    b 4

I don't understand -Wl,-rpath -Wl,

The -Wl,xxx option for gcc passes a comma-separated list of tokens as a space-separated list of arguments to the linker. So

gcc -Wl,aaa,bbb,ccc

eventually becomes a linker call

ld aaa bbb ccc

In your case, you want to say "ld -rpath .", so you pass this to gcc as -Wl,-rpath,. Alternatively, you can specify repeat instances of -Wl:

gcc -Wl,aaa -Wl,bbb -Wl,ccc

Note that there is no comma between aaa and the second -Wl.

Or, in your case, -Wl,-rpath -Wl,..

Why es6 react component works only with "export default"?

Add { } while importing and exporting: export { ... }; | import { ... } from './Template';

exportimport { ... } from './Template'

export defaultimport ... from './Template'

Here is a working example:

// ExportExample.js
import React from "react";

function DefaultExport() {
  return "This is the default export";
}

function Export1() {
  return "Export without default 1";
}

function Export2() {
  return "Export without default 2";
}

export default DefaultExport;
export { Export1, Export2 };

// App.js
import React from "react";
import DefaultExport, { Export1, Export2 } from "./ExportExample";

export default function App() {
  return (
    <>
      <strong>
        <DefaultExport />
      </strong>
      <br />
      <Export1 />

What is the difference between H.264 video and MPEG-4 video?

They are names for the same standard from two different industries with different naming methods, the guys who make & sell movies and the guys who transfer the movies over the internet. Since 2003: "MPEG 4 Part 10" = "H.264" = "AVC". Before that the relationship was a little looser in that they are not equal but an "MPEG 4 Part 2" decoder can render a stream that's "H.263". The Next standard is "MPEG H Part 2" = "H.265" = "HEVC"

Python MySQLdb TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting

The accepted answer by @kevinsa5 is correct, but you might be thinking "I swear this code used to work and now it doesn't," and you would be right.

There was an API change in the MySQLdb library between 1.2.3 and 1.2.5. The 1.2.3 versions supported

cursor.execute("SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar = %s", 'baz')

but the 1.2.5 versions require

cursor.execute("SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar = %s", ['baz'])

as the other answers state. I can't find the change in the changelogs, and it's possible the earlier behavior was considered a bug.

The Ubuntu 14.04 repository has python-mysqldb 1.2.3, but Ubuntu 16.04 and later have python-mysqldb 1.3.7+.

If you're dealing with a legacy codebase that requires the old behavior but your platform is a newish Ubuntu, install MySQLdb from PyPI instead:

$ pip install MySQL-python==1.2.3

Could not load dynamic library 'cudart64_101.dll' on tensorflow CPU-only installation

A simpler way would be to create a link called cudart64_101.dll to point to cudart64_102.dll. This is not very orthodox but since TensorFlow is looking for cudart64_101.dll exported symbols and the nvidia folks are not amateurs, they would most likely not remove symbols from 101 to 102. It works, based on this assumption (mileage may vary).

What's the difference between passing by reference vs. passing by value?

Before understanding the 2 terms, you MUST understand the following. Every object, has 2 things that can make it be distinguished.

  • Its value.
  • Its address.

So if you say employee.name = "John"

know that there are 2 things about name. Its value which is "John" and also its location in the memory which is some hexadecimal number maybe like this: 0x7fd5d258dd00.

Depending on the language's architecture or the type (class, struct, etc.) of your object, you would be either transferring "John" or 0x7fd5d258dd00

Passing "John" is known as passing by value. Passing 0x7fd5d258dd00 is known as passing by reference. Anyone who is pointing to this memory location will have access to the value of "John".

For more on this, I recommend you to read about dereferencing a pointer and also why choose struct (value type) over class (reference type)

initializing a boolean array in java

The main difference is that Boolean is an object and boolean is an primitive.

  • Object default value is null;
  • boolean default value is false;

Deep copy an array in Angular 2 + TypeScript

The only solution I've found (almost instantly after posting the question), is to loop through the array and use Object.assign()

Like this:

public duplicateArray() {
  let arr = [];
  this.content.forEach((x) => {
    arr.push(Object.assign({}, x));
  })
  arr.map((x) => {x.status = DEFAULT});
  return this.content.concat(arr);
}

I know this is not optimal. And I wonder if there's any better solutions.

How do you rebase the current branch's changes on top of changes being merged in?

You've got what rebase does backwards. git rebase master does what you're asking for — takes the changes on the current branch (since its divergence from master) and replays them on top of master, then sets the head of the current branch to be the head of that new history. It doesn't replay the changes from master on top of the current branch.

How to create a Rectangle object in Java using g.fillRect method

Try this:

public void paint (Graphics g) {
    Rectangle r = new Rectangle(xPos,yPos,width,height);
    g.fillRect(r.getX(), r.getY(), r.getWidth(), r.getHeight());
}

[edit]

// With explicit casting
public void paint (Graphics g) {
        Rectangle r = new Rectangle(xPos, yPos, width, height);
        g.fillRect(
           (int)r.getX(),
           (int)r.getY(),
           (int)r.getWidth(),
           (int)r.getHeight()
        );
    }

How to use global variable in node.js?

Global variables can be used in Node when used wisely.

Declaration of global variables in Node:

a = 10;
GLOBAL.a = 10;
global.a = 10;

All of the above commands the same actions with different syntaxes.

Use global variables when they are not about to be changed

Here an example of something that can happen when using global variables:

// app.js
a = 10; // no var or let or const means global

// users.js
app.get("/users", (req, res, next) => {
   res.send(a); // 10;
});

// permissions.js
app.get("/permissions", (req, res, next) => {
   a = 11; // notice that there is no previous declaration of a in the permissions.js, means we looking for the global instance of a.
   res.send(a); // 11;
});

Explained:

Run users route first and receive 10;

Then run permissions route and receive 11;

Then run again the users route and receive 11 as well instead of 10;

Global variables can be overtaken!

Now think about using express and assignin res object as global.. And you end up with async error become corrupt and server is shuts down.

When to use global vars?

As I said - when var is not about to be changed. Anyways it's more recommended that you will be using the process.env object from the config file.
