How to log SQL statements in Spring Boot?

Settings to avoid

You should not use this setting:

spring.jpa.show-sql=true 

The problem with show-sql is that the SQL statements are printed in the console, so there is no way to filter them, as you'd normally do with a Logging framework.

Using Hibernate logging

In your log configuration file, if you add the following logger:

Then, Hibernate will print the SQL statements when the JDBC PreparedStatement is created. That's why the statement will be logged using parameter placeholders:

If you want to log the bind parameter values, just add the following logger as well:

Using datasource-proxy

The datasource-proxy OSS framework allows you to proxy the actual JDBC DataSource, as illustrated by the following diagram:

Why are #ifndef and #define used in C++ header files?

They are called ifdef or include guards.

If writing a small program it might seems that it is not needed, but as the project grows you could intentionally or unintentionally include one file many times, which can result in compilation warning like variable already declared.

#ifndef checks whether HEADERFILE_H is not declared.
#define will declare HEADERFILE_H once #ifndef generates true.
#endif is to know the scope of #ifndef i.e end of #ifndef

If it is not declared which means #ifndef generates true then only the part between #ifndef and #endif executed otherwise not. This will prevent from again declaring the identifiers, enums, structure, etc...

Can't install Scipy through pip

I experienced similar issues with Python 3.7 (3.7.0b4). This was due to some changes regarding some encoding assumptions (Python 3.6 >> Python 3.7)

Yes, you can do this quite easily. Click on your project in the project explorer or Navigator, go to the Search menu at the top, click File..., input your search string, and make sure that 'Selected Resources' or 'Enclosing Projects' is selected, then hit search. The alternative way to open the window is with Ctrl-H. This may depend on your keyboard accelerator configuration.

You use the same casting technique to iterate over the fields:

Finding first and last index of some value in a list in Python

Perhaps the two most efficient ways to find the last index:

Benchmark results, my solutions are the red and green ones: unshuffled, full range

This is for searching a number in a list of a million numbers. The x-axis is for the location of the searched element: 0% means it's at the start of the list, 100% means it's at the end of the list. All solutions are fastest at location 100%, with the two reversed solutions taking pretty much no time for that, the double-reverse solution taking a little time, and the reverse-copy taking a lot of time.

A closer look at the right end: unshuffled, tail part

At location 100%, the reverse-copy solution and the double-reverse solution spend all their time on the reversals (index() is instant), so we see that the two in-place reversals are about seven times as fast as creating the reverse copy.

The above was with lst = list(range(1_000_000, 2_000_001)), which pretty much creates the int objects sequentially in memory, which is extremely cache-friendly. Let's do it again after shuffling the list with random.shuffle(lst) (probably less realistic, but interesting):

All got a lot slower, as expected. The reverse-copy solution suffers the most, at 100% it now takes about 32 times (!) as long as the double-reverse solution. And the enumerate-solution is now second-fastest only after location 98%.

Overall I like the operator.indexOf solution best, as it's the fastest one for the last half or quarter of all locations, which are perhaps the more interesting locations if you're actually doing rindex for something. And it's only a bit slower than the double-reverse solution in earlier locations.

All benchmarks done with CPython 3.9.0 64-bit on Windows 10 Pro 1903 64-bit.

  • git checkout dev
  • git checkout -b dev_feature_wo_E_H
  • git rebase --interactive --rebase-merges --no-ff D where I put drop front of E and H in the rebase editor
  • resolve conflicts, continue and commit

Steps to copy the the branch dev_feature_wo_E_H on target.

  • git checkout target
  • git merge --no-ff --no-commit dev_feature_wo_E_H
  • resolve conflicts, continue and commit

Some remarks

  • I've done that because of too much cherry-pick in the days before
  • git cherry-pick is powerful and simple but

    • it creates duplicates commits
    • and when I want to merge I have to resolve conflicts of the initial commits and duplicates commits, so for one or two cherry-pick, it's OK to "cherry-picking" but for more it's too verbose and the branch will become too complex
  • In my mind the steps I've done are more clear than git rebase --onto

Okay, I liberated the msajax string class, removing all the msajax dependencies. It Works great, just like the .NET string class, including trim functions, endsWith/startsWith, etc.

P.S. - I left all of the Visual Studio JavaScript IntelliSense helpers and XmlDocs in place. They are innocuous if you don't use Visual Studio, but you can remove them if you like.

Just for the record, you can filter on data with jquery (this question is quite old, and jQuery evolved since then, so it's right to write this solution as well):

You end up with both modified in the output of git status if there were conflicts produced by a merge. git isn't letting you change branch until you've resolved these conflicts. Sometimes it's more useful to increase the size of the backlog (acceptCount) instead of the maximum number of threads.

you can get much better performance in some cases, cause there would be less threads disputing the resources and the backlog queue would be consumed faster.

In any case, though, you have to do some benchmarks to really know what is best.

Proper use of 'yield return'

Assuming your products LINQ class uses a similar yield for enumerating/iterating, the first version is more efficient because its only yielding one value each time its iterated over.

The second example is converting the enumerator/iterator to a list with the ToList() method. This means it manually iterates over all the items in the enumerator and then returns a flat list.

I've had real trouble understanding this. gorkypl gave the correct solution above when I last re-installed my OS & Rstudio but this time round, setting my environment variable didn't resolve.

Uninstallled both R and Rstudio, creating directories C:\R and C:\Rstudio then reinstalled both.

Define R_LIBS_USER user variable to your prefered directory (as per gorkypl's answer) and restart your machine for User variable to be loaded. Open Rstudio, errors should be gone.

You can also use Sys.setenv() to modify R_LIBS_USER to the path of your alternative library which is easier and does not need to restart your computer.

To see what R_LIBS_USER is set to: ?Sys.getenv()

"Data too long for column" - why?

Very old question, but I tried everything suggested above and still could not get it resolved.

Turns out that, I had after insert/update trigger for the main table which tracked the changes by inserting the record in history table having similar structure. I increased the size in the main table column but forgot to change the size of history table column and that created the problem.

I did similar changes in the other table and error is gone.

&& and || are what is called "short circuiting". That means that they will not evaluate the second operand if the first operand is enough to determine the value of the expression.

For example if the first operand to && is false then there is no point in evaluating the second operand, since it can't change the value of the expression (false && true and false && false are both false). The same goes for || when the first operand is true.

setup an AT command to run task manager or process explorer as SYSTEM.

If process explorer was in your root C drive then this would open it as SYSTEM and you could kill any process without getting any access denied errors. Set this for like a minute in the future, then it will pop up for you.

throw ex; throws the original exception but resets the stack trace, destroying all stack trace information until your catch block.

For Python 3.2+ simple-date is a wrapper around pytz that tries to simplify things.

If you have a time then

SimpleDate(time).convert(tz="...")

Since you now specified you want to add to it, what you want isn't a simple IEnumerable<T> but at least an ICollection<T>. I recommend simply using a List<T> like this:

You can use myList everywhere an IEnumerable<object> is expected, since List<object> implements IEnumerable<object>.

You can't create an instance of IEnumerable<T> since it's a normal interface(It's sometimes possible to specify a default implementation, but that's usually used only with COM).

So what you really want is instantiate a class that implements the interface IEnumerable<T>. The behavior varies depending on which class you choose.

For an empty sequence use:

IEnumerable<object> e0=Enumerable.Empty<object>();

For an non empty enumerable you can use some collection that implements IEnumerable<T>. Common choices are the array T[], List<T> or if you want immutability ReadOnlyCollection<T>.

Its because that defeats the purpose of property binding. It is more meaningful to use that for setting the properties. {{}} is a normal string interpolation expression, that does not reveal to anyone reading the code that it makes special meaning. Using [] makes it easily to spot the properties that are set dynamically.

Thanks for the answer. I just got this working on Windows XP, with a few modifications. Here are my steps.

  1. Download and install latest xampp to G:\xampp. As of 2010/03/12, this is 1.7.3.
  2. Download the zip of xampp-win32-1.7.0.zip, which is the latest xampp distro without php 5.3. Extract somewhere, e.g. G:\xampp-win32-1.7.0\
  3. Remove directory G:\xampp\php
  4. Remove G:\xampp\apache\modules\php5apache2_2.dll and php5apache2_2_filter.dll
  5. Copy G:\xampp-win32-1.7.0\xampp\php to G:\xampp\php.
  6. Copy G:\xampp-win32-1.7.0\xampp\apache\bin\php* to G:\xampp\apache\bin
  7. Edit G:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-xampp.conf.
    • Immediately after the line, <IfModule alias_module> add the lines

What does InitializeComponent() do, and how does it work in WPF?

The call to InitializeComponent() (which is usually called in the default constructor of at least Window and UserControl) is actually a method call to the partial class of the control (rather than a call up the object hierarchy as I first expected).

This method locates a URI to the XAML for the Window/UserControl that is loading, and passes it to the System.Windows.Application.LoadComponent() static method. LoadComponent() loads the XAML file that is located at the passed in URI, and converts it to an instance of the object that is specified by the root element of the XAML file.

In more detail, LoadComponent creates an instance of the XamlParser, and builds a tree of the XAML. Each node is parsed by the XamlParser.ProcessXamlNode(). This gets passed to the BamlRecordWriter class. Some time after this I get a bit lost in how the BAML is converted to objects, but this may be enough to help you on the path to enlightenment.

Note: Interestingly, the InitializeComponent is a method on the System.Windows.Markup.IComponentConnector interface, of which Window/UserControl implement in the partial generated class.

Best way to parse RSS/Atom feeds with PHP

I use SimplePie to parse a Google Reader feed and it works pretty well and has a decent feature set.

 $/ = undef;

before $document = <FILE>;. $/ is the input record separator, which is a newline by default. By redefining it to undef, you are saying there is no field separator. This is called "slurp" mode.

Other solutions like undef $/ and local $/ (but not my $/) redeclare $/ and thus produce the same effect.

Oracle does use double-quotes, but you most likely need to place the object name in upper case, e.g. "TABLE". By default, if you create an object without double quotes, e.g.

Global variables in header file

The currently-accepted answer to this question is wrong. C11 6.9.2/2:

If a translation unit contains one or more tentative definitions for an identifier, and the translation unit contains no external definition for that identifier, then the behavior is exactly as if the translation unit contains a file scope declaration of that identifier, with the composite type as of the end of the translation unit, with an initializer equal to 0.

So the original code in the question behaves as if file1.c and file2.c each contained the line int i = 0; at the end, which causes undefined behaviour due to multiple external definitions (6.9/5).

Since this is a Semantic rule and not a Constraint, no diagnostic is required.

Here are two more questions about the same code with correct answers:

PostgreSQL column 'foo' does not exist

It could be quotes themselves that are the entire problem. I had a similar problem and it was due to quotes around the column name in the CREATE TABLE statement. Note there were no whitespace issues, just quotes causing problems.

The column looked like it was called anID but was really called "anID". The quotes don't appear in typical queries so it was hard to detect (for this postgres rookie). This is on postgres 9.4.1

Some more detail:

Doing postgres=# SELECT * FROM test; gave:

  anID | value 
 ------+-------
     1 | hello
     2 | baz
     3 | foo (3 rows)

but trying to select just the first column SELECT anID FROM test; resulted in an error:

ERROR:  column "anid" does not exist

Just looking at the column names didn't help: postgres=# \d test;

You have two errors in your code:

  • load() puts the HTML returned from the Ajax into the specified element:

    Load data from the server and place the returned HTML into the matched element.

    You cannot set the value of a textbox with that method.

  • $(selector).load() returns the a jQuery object. By default an object is converted to [object Object] when treated as string.

Further clarification:

Assuming your URL returns 5.

If your HTML looks like:

<div id="foo"></div>

then the result of

$('#foo').load('/your/url');

will be

<div id="foo">5</div>

But in your code, you have an input element. Theoretically (it is not valid HTML and does not work as you noticed), an equivalent call would result in

<input id="foo">5</input>

But you actually need

<input id="foo" value="5" />

Therefore, you cannot use load(). You have to use another method, get the response and set it as value yourself.

  • left: minimum x we see

  • -near: minimum z we see. Yes, this is -1 times near. So a negative input means positive z.
  • -far: maximum z we see. Also negative.

How it works under the hood

In the end, OpenGL always "uses":

glOrtho(-1.0, 1.0, -1.0, 1.0, -1.0, 1.0);

If we use neither glOrtho nor glFrustrum, that is what we get.

glOrtho and glFrustrum are just linear transformations (AKA matrix multiplication) such that:

  • glOrtho: takes a given 3D rectangle into the default cube
  • glFrustrum: takes a given pyramid section into the default cube

This transformation is then applied to all vertexes. This is what I mean in 2D:

The final step after transformation is simple:

  • remove any points outside of the cube (culling): just ensure that x, y and z are in [-1, +1]
  • ignore the z component and take only x and y, which now can be put into a 2D screen

With glOrtho, z is ignored, so you might as well always use 0.

One reason you might want to use z != 0 is to make sprites hide the background with the depth buffer.

Deprecation

glOrtho is deprecated as of OpenGL 4.5: the compatibility profile 12.1. "FIXED-FUNCTION VERTEX TRANSFORMATIONS" is in red.

So don't use it for production. In any case, understanding it is a good way to get some OpenGL insight.

Modern OpenGL 4 programs calculate the transformation matrix (which is small) on the CPU, and then give the matrix and all points to be transformed to OpenGL, which can do the thousands of matrix multiplications for different points really fast in parallel.

Manually written vertex shaders then do the multiplication explicitly, usually with the convenient vector data types of the OpenGL Shading Language.

Since you write the shader explicitly, this allows you to tweak the algorithm to your needs. Such flexibility is a major feature of more modern GPUs, which unlike the old ones that did a fixed algorithm with some input parameters, can now do arbitrary computations. The matrix for glOrtho is really simple, composed only of scaling and translation:

The glFrustum matrix is not too hard to calculate by hand either, but starts getting annoying. Note how frustum cannot be made up with only scaling and translations like glOrtho, more info at: https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/a/118848/25171

The GLM OpenGL C++ math library is a popular choice for calculating such matrices. http://glm.g-truc.net/0.9.2/api/a00245.html documents both an ortho and frustum operations.

Why is it important to override GetHashCode when Equals method is overridden?

It's actually very hard to implement GetHashCode() correctly because, in addition to the rules Marc already mentioned, the hash code should not change during the lifetime of an object. Therefore the fields which are used to calculate the hash code must be immutable.

I finally found a solution to this problem when I was working with NHibernate. My approach is to calculate the hash code from the ID of the object. The ID can only be set though the constructor so if you want to change the ID, which is very unlikely, you have to create a new object which has a new ID and therefore a new hash code. This approach works best with GUIDs because you can provide a parameterless constructor which randomly generates an ID.

What does $@ mean in a shell script?

Meaning.

In brief, $@ expands to the positional arguments passed from the caller to either a function or a script. Its meaning is context-dependent: Inside a function, it expands to the arguments passed to such function. If used in a script (not inside the scope a function), it expands to the arguments passed to such script.

Word splitting.

Now, another topic that is of paramount importance when understanding how $@ behaves in the shell is word splitting. The shell splits tokens based on the contents of the IFS variable. Its default value is \t\n; i.e., whitespace, tab, and newline.

Expanding "$@" gives you a pristine copy of the arguments passed. However, expanding $@ will not always. More specifically, if the arguments contain characters from IFS, they will split.


Most of the time what you will want to use is "$@", not $@.

What values can I pass to the event attribute of the f:ajax tag?

The event attribute of <f:ajax> can hold at least all supported DOM events of the HTML element which is been generated by the JSF component in question. An easy way to find them all out is to check all on* attribues of the JSF input component of interest in the JSF tag library documentation and then remove the "on" prefix. For example, the <h:inputText> component which renders <input type="text"> lists the following on* attributes (of which I've already removed the "on" prefix so that it ultimately becomes the DOM event type name):

  • blur
  • change
  • click
  • dblclick
  • focus
  • keydown
  • keypress
  • keyup
  • mousedown
  • mousemove
  • mouseout
  • mouseover
  • mouseup
  • select

Additionally, JSF has two more special event names for EditableValueHolder and ActionSource components, the real HTML DOM event being rendered depends on the component type:

  • valueChange (will render as change on text/select inputs and as click on radio/checkbox inputs)
  • action (will render as click on command links/buttons)

The above two are the default events for the components in question.

Some JSF component libraries have additional customized event names which are generally more specialized kinds of valueChange or action events, such as PrimeFaces <p:ajax> which supports among others tabChange, itemSelect, itemUnselect, dateSelect, page, sort, filter, close, etc depending on the parent <p:xxx> component. You can find them all in the "Ajax Behavior Events" subsection of each component's chapter in PrimeFaces Users Guide.

I don't know if this applies to JAX-WS, but for JAX-RS I was able to access a file by injecting a ServletContext and then calling getResourceAsStream() on it:

Quick easy way to migrate SQLite3 to MySQL?

I've just gone through this process, and there's a lot of very good help and information in this Q/A, but I found I had to pull together various elements (plus some from other Q/As) to get a working solution in order to successfully migrate.

However, even after combining the existing answers, I found that the Python script did not fully work for me as it did not work where there were multiple boolean occurrences in an INSERT. See here why that was the case.

So, I thought I'd post up my merged answer here. Credit goes to those that have contributed elsewhere, of course. But I wanted to give something back, and save others time that follow.

I'll post the script below. But firstly, here's the instructions for a conversion...

I ran the script on OS X 10.7.5 Lion. Python worked out of the box.

To generate the MySQL input file from your existing SQLite3 database, run the script on your own files as follows,

I then copied the resulting dumped_sql.sql file over to a Linux box running Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS where my MySQL database was to reside.

Another issue I had when importing the MySQL file was that some unicode UTF-8 characters (specifically single quotes) were not being imported correctly, so I had to add a switch to the command to specify UTF-8.

The resulting command to input the data into a spanking new empty MySQL database is as follows:

Let it cook, and that should be it! Don't forget to scrutinise your data, before and after.

As an aside, one thing I wasn't sure about before I looked into this migration, was whether created_at and updated_at field values would be preserved - the good news for me is that they are, so I could migrate my existing production data.

UPDATE

Since making this switch, I've noticed a problem that I hadn't noticed before. In my Rails application, my text fields are defined as 'string', and this carries through to the database schema. The process outlined here results in these being defined as VARCHAR(255) in the MySQL database. This places a 255 character limit on these field sizes - and anything beyond this was silently truncated during the import. To support text length greater than 255, the MySQL schema would need to use 'TEXT' rather than VARCHAR(255), I believe. The process defined here does not include this conversion.

HashMap is unordered per the second line of the documentation:

This class makes no guarantees as to the order of the map; in particular, it does not guarantee that the order will remain constant over time.

Perhaps you can do as aix suggests and use a LinkedHashMap, or another ordered collection. This link can help you find the most appropriate collection to use.

This thread helped me create my own solution that I will share here. I was using a GET ajax request at first without issues but it got to a point where the request URL length was exceeded so I had to swith to a POST.

add 0.5 before casting (if x > 0) or subtract 0.5 (if x < 0), because the compiler will always truncate.

C++11 also introduces std::round, which likely uses a similar logic of adding 0.5 to |x| under the hood (see the link if interested) but is obviously more robust.

SQL: Select columns with NULL values only

Here is an updated version of Bryan's query for 2008 and later. It uses INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS, adds variables for the table schema and table name. The column data type was added to the output. Including the column data type helps when looking for a column of a particular data type. I didn't added the column widths or anything.

For output the RAISERROR ... WITH NOWAIT is used so text will display immediately instead of all at once (for the most part) at the end like PRINT does.

Well, I got a similar problem with large data set and trying to force the application to use so much data is not really the right option. The best tip I can give you is to process your data in small chunk if it is possible. Because dealing with so much data, the problem will come back sooner or later. Plus, you cannot know the configuration of each machine that will run your application so there's always a risk that the exception will happens on another pc.

  2. That icon is called a favicon. According to Wikipedia:

The most interesting way I think is to create an object of the workbook and access the .SaveAs property that way. I have not tested it but you are never using Workbooks.Open rendering Application.AutomationSecurity inapplicable. Possibly saving resources and time as well.
