Bootstrap 3 Collapse show state with Chevron icon

Thanks to biggates and steakpi. As answer of question Dreamonic, I made a little changes to make all headers clickable (not only title string and gluphs) and took off underline from link. To force an icons appear on same line I added h4 at the end of CSS instructions. Here is the modified code:

<div class="panel-group" id="accordion">
  <div class="panel panel-default">
    <div class="panel-heading">
        <a class="accordion-toggle collapsed" data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#accordion" href="#collapseOne">
          <h4 class="panel-title">Collapsible Group Item #1</h4>
        </a>
    </div>
    <div id="collapseOne" class="panel-collapse collapse">
      <div class="panel-body">

  <div class="panel panel-default">
    <div class="panel-heading">

And the modified CSS:

.panel-heading .accordion-toggle h4:after {

.panel-heading .accordion-toggle.collapsed h4:after {
    /* symbol for "collapsed" panels */
    content: "\e080";
}
a.accordion-toggle{
    text-decoration: none;

How can I add shadow to the widget in flutter?

Before you start reinventing the wheel with one of these answers, check out the Material Card widget. It also allows you to define a global style via the app theme directly:

Understanding Chrome network log "Stalled" state

https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/network-performance/understanding-resource-timing

This comes from the official site of Chome-devtools and it helps. Here i quote:

  • Queuing If a request is queued it indicated that:
    • The request was postponed by the rendering engine because it's considered lower priority than critical resources (such as scripts/styles). This often happens with images.
    • The request was put on hold to wait for an unavailable TCP socket that's about to free up.
    • The request was put on hold because the browser only allows six TCP connections per origin on HTTP 1. Time spent making disk cache entries (typically very quick.)
  • Stalled/Blocking Time the request spent waiting before it could be sent. It can be waiting for any of the reasons described for Queueing. Additionally, this time is inclusive of any time spent in proxy negotiation.

How can I brew link a specific version?

The usage info:

Usage: brew switch <formula> <version>

Example:

brew switch mysql 5.5.29

You can find the versions installed on your system with info.

brew info mysql

And to see the available versions to install, you can provide a dud version number, as brew will helpfully respond with the available version numbers:

brew switch mysql 0

Update (15.10.2014):

The brew versions command has been removed from brew, but, if you do wish to use this command first run brew tap homebrew/boneyard.

The recommended way to install an old version is to install from the homebrew/versions repo as follows:

$ brew tap homebrew/versions
$ brew install mysql55

For detailed info on all the ways to install an older version of a formula read this answer.

Does Spring Data JPA have any way to count entites using method name resolving?

If anyone wants to get the count with based on multiple conditions than here is a sample custom query

@Query("select count(sl) from SlUrl sl where sl.user =?1 And sl.creationDate between ?2 And ?3")
    long countUrlsBetweenDates(User user, Date date1, Date date2);

How to redirect a URL path in IIS?

If you have loads of re-directs to create, having loads of virtual directories over the places is a nightmare to maintain. You could try using ISAPI redirect an IIS extension. Then all you re-directs are managed in one place.

http://www.isapirewrite.com/docs/

It allows also you to match patterns based on reg ex expressions etc. I've used where I've had to re-direct 100's of pages and its saved a lot of time.

Context.startForegroundService() did not then call Service.startForeground()

I have fixed the problem with starting the service with startService(intent) instead of Context.startForeground() and calling startForegound() immediately after super.OnCreate(). Additionally, if you starting service on boot, you can start Activity that starts service on the boot broadcast. Although it is not a permanent solution, it works.

Repeat String - Javascript

Note to new readers: This answer is old and and not terribly practical - it's just "clever" because it uses Array stuff to get String things done. When I wrote "less process" I definitely meant "less code" because, as others have noted in subsequent answers, it performs like a pig. So don't use it if speed matters to you.

I'd put this function onto the String object directly. Instead of creating an array, filling it, and joining it with an empty char, just create an array of the proper length, and join it with your desired string. Same result, less process!

String.prototype.repeat = function( num )
{
    return new Array( num + 1 ).join( this );
}

alert( "string to repeat\n".repeat( 4 ) );

Writing outputs to log file and console

I tried joonty's answer, but I also got the

exec: 1: not found

error. This is what works best for me (confirmed to work in zsh also):

#!/bin/bash
LOG_FILE=/tmp/both.log
exec > >(tee ${LOG_FILE}) 2>&1
echo "this is stdout"
chmmm 77 /makeError

The file /tmp/both.log afterwards contains

this is stdout
chmmm command not found

The /tmp/both.log is appended unless you remove the -a from tee.

Hint: >(...) is a process substitution. It lets the exec to the tee command as if it were a file.

If '<selector>' is an Angular component, then verify that it is part of this module

You must declare your MyComponentComponent in the same module of your AppComponent.

import { AppComponent } from '...';
import { MyComponentComponent } from '...';

@NgModule({
   declarations: [ AppComponent, MyComponentComponent ],
   bootstrap: [ AppComponent ]
})
export class AppModule {}

SET versus SELECT when assigning variables?

Aside from the one being ANSI and speed etc., there is a very important difference that always matters to me; more than ANSI and speed. The number of bugs I have fixed due to this important overlook is large. I look for this during code reviews all the time.

-- Arrange
create table Employee (EmployeeId int);
insert into dbo.Employee values (1);
insert into dbo.Employee values (2);
insert into dbo.Employee values (3);

-- Act
declare @employeeId int;
select @employeeId = e.EmployeeId from dbo.Employee e;

-- Assert
-- This will print 3, the last EmployeeId from the query (an arbitrary value)
-- Almost always, this is not what the developer was intending.
print @employeeId;

Almost always, that is not what the developer is intending. In the above, the query is straight forward but I have seen queries that are quite complex and figuring out whether it will return a single value or not, is not trivial. The query is often more complex than this and by chance it has been returning single value. During developer testing all is fine. But this is like a ticking bomb and will cause issues when the query returns multiple results. Why? Because it will simply assign the last value to the variable.

Now let's try the same thing with SET:

 -- Act
 set @employeeId = (select e.EmployeeId from dbo.Employee e);

You will receive an error:

Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.

That is amazing and very important because why would you want to assign some trivial "last item in result" to the @employeeId. With select you will never get any error and you will spend minutes, hours debugging.

Perhaps, you are looking for a single Id and SET will force you to fix your query. Thus you may do something like:

-- Act
-- Notice the where clause
set @employeeId = (select e.EmployeeId from dbo.Employee e where e.EmployeeId = 1);
print @employeeId;

Cleanup

drop table Employee;

In conclusion, use:

  • SET: When you want to assign a single value to a variable and your variable is for a single value.
  • SELECT: When you want to assign multiple values to a variable. The variable may be a table, temp table or table variable etc.

How to draw a circle with text in the middle?

For a web design I was recently given I had to solve the centered and unknown amount of text in a fixed circle issue and I thought I'd share the solution here for other people looking into circle/text combos.

The main issue I had was text would often break the bounds of the circle. To solve this I ended up using 4 divs. One rectangular container that specified the max (fixed) boundaries of the circle. Inside that would be the div that draws the circle with its width and height set to 100% so changing the size of the parent changes the size of the actual circle. Inside that would be another rectangular div which, using %'s, would create a text boundary area preventing any text leaving the circle (for the most part) Then finally the actual div for the text and vertical centering.

It makes more sense as code:

_x000D_
_x000D_
/* Main Container - this controls the size of the circle */_x000D_
.circle_container_x000D_
{_x000D_
 width : 128px;_x000D_

/* border : 1px solid red; */_x000D_
}_x000D_

}
_x000D_
<div class="circle_container">_x000D_
 <div class="circle_main">_x000D_
  <div class="circle_text_container">_x000D_

  </div>_x000D_
 </div>_x000D_
</div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

You can uncomment the border colours on the container divs to see how it constrains.

Things to be aware of: You can still break the bounds of the circle if you put too much text in or use words/unbroken text that are too long. It's still not a good fit for completely unknown text (such as user input) but works best when you know vaguely what the largest amount of text you'll need to store is and set your circle size and font sizes accordingly. You can set the text container div to hide any overflow of course, but that may just look "broken" and is no replacement for actually accounting for max size properly in your design.

Hope this is useful to someone! HTML/CSS is not my main discipline so I'm sure it can be improved on!

Eclipse/Maven error: "No compiler is provided in this environment"

Maven requires JDK to compile. In Eclipse you need to CHANGE/ REPLACE your JRE to the JDK path that your JAVA_HOME points to. Navigate to Window > Preferences > Java > Installed JREs.

Make sure that the maven-compiler-plugin in you pom.xml has the source and target of the java version in your JAVA_HOME

Cross Domain Form POSTing

The same origin policy is applicable only for browser side programming languages. So if you try to post to a different server than the origin server using JavaScript, then the same origin policy comes into play but if you post directly from the form i.e. the action points to a different server like:

<form action="http://someotherserver.com">

and there is no javascript involved in posting the form, then the same origin policy is not applicable.

Using the passwd command from within a shell script

This is the definitive answer for a teradata node admin.

Go to your /etc/hosts file and create a list of IP's or node names in a text file.

SMP007-1
SMP007-2
SMP007-3

Put the following script in a file.

#set a password across all nodes
printf "User ID: "
read MYUSERID
printf "New Password: "
read MYPASS

while read -r i; do
    echo changing password on "$i"
    ssh root@"$i" sudo echo "$MYUSERID":"$MYPASS" | chpasswd
    echo password changed on "$i"
done< /usr/bin/setpwd.srvrs

Okay I know I've broken a cardinal security rule with ssh and root but I'll let you security folks deal with it.

Now put this in your /usr/bin subdir along with your setpwd.srvrs config file.

When you run the command it prompts you one time for the User ID then one time for the password. Then the script traverses all nodes in the setpwd.srvrs file and does a passwordless ssh to each node, then sets the password without any user interaction or secondary password validation.

What issues should be considered when overriding equals and hashCode in Java?

The theory (for the language lawyers and the mathematically inclined):

equals() (javadoc) must define an equivalence relation (it must be reflexive, symmetric, and transitive). In addition, it must be consistent (if the objects are not modified, then it must keep returning the same value). Furthermore, o.equals(null) must always return false.

hashCode() (javadoc) must also be consistent (if the object is not modified in terms of equals(), it must keep returning the same value).

The relation between the two methods is:

Whenever a.equals(b), then a.hashCode() must be same as b.hashCode().

In practice:

If you override one, then you should override the other.

Use the same set of fields that you use to compute equals() to compute hashCode().

Use the excellent helper classes EqualsBuilder and HashCodeBuilder from the Apache Commons Lang library. An example:

public class Person {
    private String name;
    private int age;
    // ...

    @Override
    public int hashCode() {
        return new HashCodeBuilder(17, 31). // two randomly chosen prime numbers
            // if deriving: appendSuper(super.hashCode()).
            append(name).
            append(age).
            toHashCode();
    }

    @Override
    public boolean equals(Object obj) {
       if (!(obj instanceof Person))
            return false;
        if (obj == this)
            return true;

        Person rhs = (Person) obj;
        return new EqualsBuilder().
            // if deriving: appendSuper(super.equals(obj)).
            append(name, rhs.name).
            append(age, rhs.age).
            isEquals();
    }
}

Also remember:

When using a hash-based Collection or Map such as HashSet, LinkedHashSet, HashMap, Hashtable, or WeakHashMap, make sure that the hashCode() of the key objects that you put into the collection never changes while the object is in the collection. The bulletproof way to ensure this is to make your keys immutable, which has also other benefits.

Push method in React Hooks (useState)?

The same way you do it with "normal" state in React class components.

example:

function App() {
  const [state, setState] = useState([]);

  return (
    <div>
      <p>You clicked {state.join(" and ")}</p>
      //destructuring
      <button onClick={() => setState([...state, "again"])}>Click me</button>
      //old way
      <button onClick={() => setState(state.concat("again"))}>Click me</button>
    </div>
  );
}

How to implement drop down list in flutter?

Let say we are creating a drop down list of currency:

List _currency = ["INR", "USD", "SGD", "EUR", "PND"];
List<DropdownMenuItem<String>> _dropDownMenuCurrencyItems;
String _currentCurrency;

List<DropdownMenuItem<String>> getDropDownMenuCurrencyItems() {
  List<DropdownMenuItem<String>> items = new List();
  for (String currency in _currency) {
    items.add(
      new DropdownMenuItem(value: currency, child: new Text(currency)));
  }
  return items;
}

void changedDropDownItem(String selectedCurrency) {
  setState(() {
    _currentCurrency = selectedCurrency;
  });
}

Add below code in body part:

new Row(children: <Widget>[
  new Text("Currency: "),
  new Container(
    padding: new EdgeInsets.all(16.0),
  ),
  new DropdownButton(
    value: _currentCurrency,
    items: _dropDownMenuCurrencyItems,
    onChanged: changedDropDownItem,
  )
])

What is PECS (Producer Extends Consumer Super)?

In a nutshell, three easy rules to remember PECS:

  1. Use the <? extends T> wildcard if you need to retrieve object of type T from a collection.
  2. Use the <? super T> wildcard if you need to put objects of type T in a collection.
  3. If you need to satisfy both things, well, don’t use any wildcard. As simple as that.

How to reduce the image file size using PIL

The main image manager in PIL is PIL's Image module.

from PIL import Image
import math

foo = Image.open("path\\to\\image.jpg")
x, y = foo.size
x2, y2 = math.floor(x-50), math.floor(y-20)
foo = foo.resize((x2,y2),Image.ANTIALIAS)
foo.save("path\\to\\save\\image_scaled.jpg",quality=95)

You can add optimize=True to the arguments of you want to decrease the size even more, but optimize only works for JPEG's and PNG's. For other image extensions, you could decrease the quality of the new saved image. You could change the size of the new image by just deleting a bit of code and defining the image size and you can only figure out how to do this if you look at the code carefully. I defined this size:

x, y = foo.size
x2, y2 = math.floor(x-50), math.floor(y-20)

just to show you what is (almost) normally done with horizontal images. For vertical images you might do:

x, y = foo.size
x2, y2 = math.floor(x-20), math.floor(y-50)

. Remember, you can still delete that bit of code and define a new size.

Attach event to dynamic elements in javascript

This is due to the fact that your element is dynamically created. You should use event delegation to handle the event.

 document.addEventListener('click',function(e){
    if(e.target && e.target.id== 'brnPrepend'){
          //do something
     }
 });

jquery makes it easier:

 $(document).on('click','#btnPrepend',function(){//do something})

Here is an article about event delegation event delegation article

POST JSON fails with 415 Unsupported media type, Spring 3 mvc

I've had this happen before with Spring @ResponseBody and it was because there was no accept header sent with the request. Accept header can be a pain to set with jQuery, but this worked for me source

$.postJSON = function(url, data, callback) {
    return jQuery.ajax({
    headers: {
        'Accept': 'application/json',
        'Content-Type': 'application/json'
    },
    'type': 'POST',
    'url': url,
    'data': JSON.stringify(data),
    'dataType': 'json',
    'success': callback
    });
};

The Content-Type header is used by @RequestBody to determine what format the data being sent from the client in the request is. The accept header is used by @ResponseBody to determine what format to sent the data back to the client in the response. That's why you need both headers.

Order data frame rows according to vector with specific order

Try match:

df <- data.frame(name=letters[1:4], value=c(rep(TRUE, 2), rep(FALSE, 2)))
target <- c("b", "c", "a", "d")
df[match(target, df$name),]

  name value
2    b  TRUE
3    c FALSE
1    a  TRUE
4    d FALSE

It will work as long as your target contains exactly the same elements as df$name, and neither contain duplicate values.

From ?match:

match returns a vector of the positions of (first) matches of its first argument
in its second.

Therefore match finds the row numbers that matches target's elements, and then we return df in that order.

UIView touch event in controller

For swift 4

@IBOutlet weak var someView: UIView!
let gesture = UITapGestureRecognizer(target: self, action:  #selector (self.someAction (_:)))
self.someView.addGestureRecognizer(gesture)

@objc func someAction(_ sender:UITapGestureRecognizer){
    print("view was clicked")
}

Java: Local variable mi defined in an enclosing scope must be final or effectively final

As I can see the array is of String only.For each loop can be used to get individual element of the array and put them in local inner class for use.

Below is the code snippet for it :

     //WorkAround
    for (String color : colors ){

String pos = Character.toUpperCase(color.charAt(0)) + color.substring(1);
JMenuItem Jmi =new JMenuItem(pos);
Jmi.setIcon(new IconA(color));

Jmi.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
        @Override
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            JMenuItem item = (JMenuItem) e.getSource();
            IconA icon = (IconA) item.getIcon();
            // HERE YOU USE THE String color variable and no errors!!!
            Color kolorIkony = getColour(color);
            textArea.setForeground(kolorIkony);
        }
    });

    mnForeground.add(Jmi);
}

}

You could use ROW_NUMBER() with a ORDER BY clause in sub-query and use this column in replacement of TOP N. This can be explained step-by-step.

See the below table which have two columns NAME and DT_CREATED.

enter image description here

If you need to take only the first two dates irrespective of NAME, you could use the below query. The logic has been written inside query

-- The number of records can be specified in WHERE clause
SELECT RNO,NAME,DT_CREATED
FROM
(
    -- Generates numbers in a column in sequence in the order of date
    SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY DT_CREATED) AS RNO,
    NAME,DT_CREATED
    FROM DEMOTOP
)TAB
WHERE RNO<3;

RESULT

enter image description here

In some situations, we need to select TOP N results respective to each NAME. In such case we can use PARTITION BY with an ORDER BY clause in sub-query. Refer the below query.

-- The number of records can be specified in WHERE clause
SELECT RNO,NAME,DT_CREATED
FROM
(
  --Generates numbers in a column in sequence in the order of date for each NAME
    SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY NAME ORDER BY DT_CREATED) AS RNO,
    NAME,DT_CREATED
    FROM DEMOTOP
)TAB
WHERE RNO<3;

RESULT

Why does Boolean.ToString output "True" and not "true"

It's simple code to convert that to all lower case.

Not so simple to convert "true" back to "True", however.

true.ToString().ToLower()

is what I use for xml output.

BeautifulSoup getting href

You can use find_all in the following way to find every a element that has an href attribute, and print each one:

from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup

html = '''<a href="some_url">next</a>
<span class="class"><a href="another_url">later</a></span>'''

soup = BeautifulSoup(html)

for a in soup.find_all('a', href=True):
    print "Found the URL:", a['href']

The output would be:

Found the URL: some_url
Found the URL: another_url

Note that if you're using an older version of BeautifulSoup (before version 4) the name of this method is findAll. In version 4, BeautifulSoup's method names were changed to be PEP 8 compliant, so you should use find_all instead.

If you want all tags with an href, you can omit the name parameter:

href_tags = soup.find_all(href=True)

Directly export a query to CSV using SQL Developer

After Ctrl+End, you can do the Ctrl+A to select all in the buffer and then paste into Excel. Excel even put each Oracle column into its own column instead of squishing the whole row into one column. Nice..

Capturing mobile phone traffic on Wireshark

Another option which has not been suggested here is to run the app you want to monitor in the Android emulator from the Android SDK. You can then easily capture the traffic with wireshark on the same machine.

This was the easiest option for me.

How to show another window from mainwindow in QT

  1. Implement a slot in your QMainWindow where you will open your new Window,
  2. Place a widget on your QMainWindow,
  3. Connect a signal from this widget to a slot from the QMainWindow (for example: if the widget is a QPushButton connect the signal click() to the QMainWindow custom slot you have created).

Code example:

MainWindow.h

// ...
include "newwindow.h"
// ...
public slots:
   void openNewWindow();
// ...
private:
   NewWindow *mMyNewWindow;
// ...
}

MainWindow.cpp

// ...
   MainWindow::MainWindow()
   {
      // ...
      connect(mMyButton, SIGNAL(click()), this, SLOT(openNewWindow()));
      // ...
   }
// ...
void MainWindow::openNewWindow()
{
   mMyNewWindow = new NewWindow(); // Be sure to destroy your window somewhere
   mMyNewWindow->show();
   // ...
}

This is an example on how display a custom new window. There are a lot of ways to do this.

Paging with Oracle

Ask Tom on pagination and very, very useful analytic functions.

This is excerpt from that page:

select * from (
    select /*+ first_rows(25) */
     object_id,object_name,
     row_number() over
    (order by object_id) rn
    from all_objects
)
where rn between :n and :m
order by rn;

Show pop-ups the most elegant way

See http://adamalbrecht.com/2013/12/12/creating-a-simple-modal-dialog-directive-in-angular-js/ for a simple way of doing modal dialog with Angular and without needing bootstrap

Edit: I've since been using ng-dialog from http://likeastore.github.io/ngDialog which is flexible and doesn't have any dependencies.

Select SQL Server database size

You can check how this query works following this link.

    IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#spacetable') IS NOT NULL
    DROP TABLE tempdb..#spacetable
    create table #spacetable
    (
    database_name varchar(50) ,
    total_size_data int,
    space_util_data int,
    space_data_left int,
    percent_fill_data float,
    total_size_data_log int,
    space_util_log int,
    space_log_left int,
    percent_fill_log char(50),
    [total db size] int,
    [total size used] int,
    [total size left] int
    )
    insert into  #spacetable
    EXECUTE master.sys.sp_MSforeachdb 'USE [?];
    select x.[DATABASE NAME],x.[total size data],x.[space util],x.[total size data]-x.[space util] [space left data],
    x.[percent fill],y.[total size log],y.[space util],
    y.[total size log]-y.[space util] [space left log],y.[percent fill],
    y.[total size log]+x.[total size data] ''total db size''
    ,x.[space util]+y.[space util] ''total size used'',
    (y.[total size log]+x.[total size data])-(y.[space util]+x.[space util]) ''total size left''
     from (select DB_NAME() ''DATABASE NAME'',

    ,case when sum(size*8/1024)=0 then ''divide by zero'' else
    substring(cast((sum(FILEPROPERTY(name,''SpaceUsed''))*1.0*100/sum(size)) as CHAR(50)),1,6) end ''percent fill''

How can I SELECT rows with MAX(Column value), DISTINCT by another column in SQL?

You are so close! All you need to do is select BOTH the home and its max date time, then join back to the topten table on BOTH fields:

SELECT tt.*
FROM topten tt
INNER JOIN
    (SELECT home, MAX(datetime) AS MaxDateTime
    FROM topten
    GROUP BY home) groupedtt
ON tt.home = groupedtt.home
AND tt.datetime = groupedtt.MaxDateTime

How do I make UITableViewCell's ImageView a fixed size even when the image is smaller

This worked for me in swift:

Create a subclass of UITableViewCell (make sure you link up your cell in the storyboard)

class MyTableCell:UITableViewCell{
    override func layoutSubviews() {
        super.layoutSubviews()

        if(self.imageView?.image != nil){

            let cellFrame = self.frame
            let textLabelFrame = self.textLabel?.frame
            let detailTextLabelFrame = self.detailTextLabel?.frame
            let imageViewFrame = self.imageView?.frame

            self.imageView?.contentMode = .ScaleAspectFill
            self.imageView?.clipsToBounds = true
            self.imageView?.frame = CGRectMake((imageViewFrame?.origin.x)!,(imageViewFrame?.origin.y)! + 1,40,40)
            self.textLabel!.frame = CGRectMake(50 + (imageViewFrame?.origin.x)! , (textLabelFrame?.origin.y)!, cellFrame.width-(70 + (imageViewFrame?.origin.x)!), textLabelFrame!.height)
            self.detailTextLabel!.frame = CGRectMake(50 + (imageViewFrame?.origin.x)!, (detailTextLabelFrame?.origin.y)!, cellFrame.width-(70 + (imageViewFrame?.origin.x)!), detailTextLabelFrame!.height)
        }
    }
}

In cellForRowAtIndexPath , dequeue the cell as your new cell type:

    let cell = tableView.dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier("MyCell", forIndexPath: indexPath) as! MyTableCell

Obviously change number values to suit your layout

NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'boolean java.lang.String.equalsIgnoreCase(java.lang.String)' on a null object reference

The exception occurs due to this statement,

called_from.equalsIgnoreCase("add")

It seem that the previous statement

String called_from = getIntent().getStringExtra("called");

returned a null reference.

You can check whether the intent to start this activity contains such a key "called".

Access parent DataContext from DataTemplate

I was searching how to do something similar in WPF and I got this solution:

<ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyItems,Mode=OneWay}">
<ItemsControl.ItemsPanel>
    <ItemsPanelTemplate>
        <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" />
    </ItemsPanelTemplate>
</ItemsControl.ItemsPanel>
<ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
    <DataTemplate>
        <RadioButton
            Content="{Binding}"
            Command="{Binding Path=DataContext.CustomCommand,
                        RelativeSource={RelativeSource Mode=FindAncestor,
                        AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl}} }"
            CommandParameter="{Binding}" />
    </DataTemplate>
</ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>

I hope this works for somebody else. I have a data context which is set automatically to the ItemsControls, and this data context has two properties: MyItems -which is a collection-, and one command 'CustomCommand'. Because of the ItemTemplate is using a DataTemplate, the DataContext of upper levels is not directly accessible. Then the workaround to get the DC of the parent is use a relative path and filter by ItemsControl type.

Using generic std::function objects with member functions in one class

Unfortunately, C++ does not allow you to directly get a callable object referring to an object and one of its member functions. &Foo::doSomething gives you a "pointer to member function" which refers to the member function but not the associated object.

There are two ways around this, one is to use std::bind to bind the "pointer to member function" to the this pointer. The other is to use a lambda that captures the this pointer and calls the member function.

std::function<void(void)> f = std::bind(&Foo::doSomething, this);
std::function<void(void)> g = [this](){doSomething();};

I would prefer the latter.

With g++ at least binding a member function to this will result in an object three-pointers in size, assigning this to an std::function will result in dynamic memory allocation.

On the other hand, a lambda that captures this is only one pointer in size, assigning it to an std::function will not result in dynamic memory allocation with g++.

While I have not verified this with other compilers, I suspect similar results will be found there.

sql query with multiple where statements

What is meta_key? Strip out all of the meta_value conditionals, reduce, and you end up with this:

SELECT
*
FROM
meta_data
WHERE
(
        (meta_key = 'lat')
)
AND
(
        (meta_key = 'long')
)
GROUP BY
item_id

Since meta_key can never simultaneously equal two different values, no results will be returned.

Based on comments throughout this question and answers so far, it sounds like you're looking for something more along the lines of this:

SELECT
*
FROM
meta_data
WHERE
(
    (meta_key = 'lat')
    AND
    (
        (meta_value >= '60.23457047672217')
        OR
        (meta_value <= '60.23457047672217')
    )
)
OR
(
    (meta_key = 'long')
    AND
    (
        (meta_value >= '24.879140853881836')
        OR
        (meta_value <= '24.879140853881836')
    )
)
GROUP BY
item_id

Note the OR between the top-level conditionals. This is because you want records which are lat or long, since no single record will ever be lat and long.

I'm still not sure what you're trying to accomplish by the inner conditionals. Any non-null value will match those numbers. So maybe you can elaborate on what you're trying to do there. I'm also not sure about the purpose of the GROUP BY clause, but that might be outside the context of this question entirely.

How do I get the XML SOAP request of an WCF Web service request?

I am using below solution for IIS hosting in ASP.NET compatibility mode. Credits to Rodney Viana's MSDN blog.

Add following to your web.config under appSettings:

<add key="LogPath" value="C:\\logpath" />
<add key="LogRequestResponse" value="true" />

Replace your global.asax.cs with below (also fix namespace name):

using System;

Get rid of "The value for annotation attribute must be a constant expression" message

This is what a constant expression in Java looks like:

package com.mycompany.mypackage;

public class MyLinks {
  // constant expression
  public static final String GUESTBOOK_URL = "/guestbook";
}

You can use it with annotations as following:

import com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLinks;

@WebServlet(urlPatterns = {MyLinks.GUESTBOOK_URL})
public class GuestbookServlet extends HttpServlet {
  // ...
}

How to destroy JWT Tokens on logout?

You can add "issue time" to token and maintain "last logout time" for each user on the server. When you check token validity, also check "issue time" be after "last logout time".

This can also happen when you forget to make a first commit.

You need a more specific expression. Try grep " OK$" or grep "[0-9]* OK". You want to choose a pattern that matches what you want, but won't match what you don't want. That pattern will depend upon what your whole file contents might look like.

You can also do: grep -w "OK" which will only match a whole word "OK", such as "1 OK" but won't match "1OK" or "OKFINE".

$ cat test.txt | grep -w "OK"
1 OK
2 OK
4 OK

Remove CSS from a Div using JQuery

I used the second solution of user147767

However, there is a typo here. It should be

curCssName.toUpperCase().indexOf(cssName.toUpperCase() + ':') < 0

not <= 0

I also changed this condition for:

!curCssName.match(new RegExp(cssName + "(-.+)?:"), "mi")

as sometimes we add a css property over jQuery, and it's added in a different way for different browsers (i.e. the border property will be added as "border" for Firefox, and "border-top", "border-bottom" etc for IE).

If you learn Python first and then Java. I think it plays the same role as __str__() method in Python, it is a magic method like __dict__() and __init__() but to refer to a string representing the the object.

mysqldump with create database line

Here is how to do dump the database (with just the schema):

How to display Toast in Android?

Simple Way

toast("Your Message")

OR

toast(R.string.some_message)

Just add two methods in your BaseActivity. Or create new BaseActivity if you are not already using.

public class BaseActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
    public void toast(String msg) {
        Toast.makeText(this, msg, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
    }

    public void toast(@StringRes int msg) {
        Toast.makeText(this, msg, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
    }
}

and extend all your activities by BaseActivity.

Storing sex (gender) in database

An Int (or TinyInt) aligned to an Enum field would be my methodology.

First, if you have a single bit field in a database, the row will still use a full byte, so as far as space savings, it only pays off if you have multiple bit fields.

Second, strings/chars have a "magic value" feel to them, regardless of how obvious they may seem at design time. Not to mention, it lets people store just about any value they would not necessarily map to anything obvious.

Third, a numeric value is much easier (and better practice) to create a lookup table for, in order to enforce referential integrity, and can correlate 1-to-1 with an enum, so there is parity in storing the value in memory within the application or in the database.

iPhone - Get Position of UIView within entire UIWindow

That's an easy one:

[aView convertPoint:localPosition toView:nil];

... converts a point in local coordinate space to window coordinates. You can use this method to calculate a view's origin in window space like this:

[aView.superview convertPoint:aView.frame.origin toView:nil];

2014 Edit: Looking at the popularity of Matt__C's comment it seems reasonable to point out that the coordinates...

  1. don't change when rotating the device.
  2. always have their origin in the top left corner of the unrotated screen.
  3. are window coordinates: The coordinate system ist defined by the bounds of the window. The screen's and device coordinate systems are different and should not be mixed up with window coordinates.

What is the most efficient way to get first and last line of a text file?

Convert an enum to List<string>

Use Enum's static method, GetNames. It returns a string[], like so:

Enum.GetNames(typeof(DataSourceTypes))

If you want to create a method that does only this for only one type of enum, and also converts that array to a List, you can write something like this:

public List<string> GetDataSourceTypes()
{
    return Enum.GetNames(typeof(DataSourceTypes)).ToList();
}

You will need Using System.Linq; at the top of your class to use .ToList()

Is there a job scheduler library for node.js?

I am the auhor of node-runnr . It have a very simple approach to create job. Also its very easy and clear to declare time and interval. For example, to execute a job at every 10min 20sec,

Runnr.addIntervalJob('10:20', function(){...}, 'myjob')

To do a job at 10am and 3pm daily,

Runnr.addDailyJob(['10:0:0', '15:0:0'], function(){...}, 'myjob')

Its that simple. For further detail: https://github.com/Saquib764/node-runnr

Send JSON data from Javascript to PHP?

PHP has a built in function called json_decode(). Just pass the JSON string into this function and it will convert it to the PHP equivalent string, array or object.

In order to pass it as a string from Javascript, you can convert it to JSON using

JSON.stringify(object);

How can I make my match non greedy in vim?

If you're more comfortable PCRE regex syntax, which

  1. supports the non-greedy operator ?, as you asked in OP; and
  2. doesn't require backwhacking grouping and cardinality operators (an utterly counterintuitive vim syntax requirement since you're not matching literal characters but specifying operators); and
  3. you have [g]vim compiled with perl feature, test using

    :ver and inspect features; if +perl is there you're good to go)

try search/replace using

:perldo s///

Example. Swap src and alt attributes in img tag:

:perldo s/(src=".*?")\s+(alt=".*?")/$2 $1/

Upload a file to Amazon S3 with NodeJS

I found the following to be a working solution::

npm install aws-sdk

Once you've installed the aws-sdk , use the following code replacing values with your where needed.

var AWS = require('aws-sdk');
var fs =  require('fs');

var s3 = new AWS.S3();

// Bucket names must be unique across all S3 users

var myBucket = 'njera';

var myKey = 'jpeg';
//for text file
//fs.readFile('demo.txt', function (err, data) {
//for Video file
//fs.readFile('demo.avi', function (err, data) {
//for image file
fs.readFile('demo.jpg', function (err, data) {
  if (err) { throw err; }

     params = {Bucket: myBucket, Key: myKey, Body: data };

     s3.putObject(params, function(err, data) {

         if (err) {

             console.log(err)

         } else {

             console.log("Successfully uploaded data to myBucket/myKey");

How can I change the class of an element with jQuery>

I like to write a small plugin to make things cleaner:

$.fn.setClass = function(classes) {

That way you can simply do

$('button').setClass('btn btn-primary');

Are there any naming convention guidelines for REST APIs?

I have a list of guidelines at http://soaprobe.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/soa-rest-service-naming-guideline.html which we have used in prod. Guidelines are always debatable... I think consistency is sometimes more important than getting things perfect (if there is such a thing).

A Simple, 2d cross-platform graphics library for c or c++?

One neat engine I came across is Angel-Engine. Info from the project site:

  • Cross-Platform functionality (Windows and Mac)
  • Actors (game objects with color, shape, responses, attributes, etc.)
  • Texturing with Transparency
  • "Animations" (texture swapping at defined intervals)
  • Rigid-Body Physics
    • A clever programmer can do soft-body physics with it
  • Sound
  • Text Rendering with multiple fonts
  • Particle Systems
  • Some basic AI (state machine and pathfinding)
  • Config File Processing
  • Logging
  • Input from a mouse, keyboard, or Xbox 360 controller
    • Binding inputs from a config file
  • Python Scripting
    • In-Game Console

Some users (including me) have succesfully (without any major problems) compiled it under linux.

Displaying files (e.g. images) stored in Google Drive on a website

However this answer is simple, infact very simple and yea many have mentioned it that simply put the id of image into the following link https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id={fileId}

But however easy that is, I made a script to run in the console. Feed in an array of complete sharable links from google drive and get them converted into the above link. Then they can be simply used as static addresses.

This will reset the 30 day timer for activation back to 30 days so you can enter in the key normally.

SQL Bulk Insert with FIRSTROW parameter skips the following line

To let SQL handle quote escape and everything else do this

BULK INSERT Test_CSV
FROM  'C:\MyCSV.csv'
WITH (
 FORMAT='CSV'
 --FIRSTROW = 2, --uncomment this if your CSV contains header, so start parsing at line 2
);

In regards to other answers, here is valuable info as well:

I keep seeing this in all answers: ROWTERMINATOR = '\n'
The \n means LF and it is Linux style EOL

In Windows the EOL is made of 2 chars CRLF so you need ROWTERMINATOR = '\r\n'

WebSocket with SSL

1 additional caveat (besides the answer by kanaka/peter): if you use WSS, and the server certificate is not acceptable to the browser, you may not get any browser rendered dialog (like it happens for Web pages). This is because WebSockets is treated as a so-called "subresource", and certificate accept / security exception / whatever dialogs are not rendered for subresources.

In Node.js, how do I "include" functions from my other files?

You need no new functions nor new modules. You simply need to execute the module you're calling if you don't want to use namespace.

in tools.js

module.exports = function() {
    this.sum = function(a,b) { return a+b };
    this.multiply = function(a,b) { return a*b };
    //etc
}

in app.js

or in any other .js like myController.js :

instead of

var tools = require('tools.js') which force us to use a namespace and call tools like tools.sum(1,2);

we can simply call

require('tools.js')();

and then

sum(1,2);

in my case I have a file with controllers ctrls.js

module.exports = function() {
    this.Categories = require('categories.js');
}

and I can use Categories in every context as public class after require('ctrls.js')()

getting integer values from textfield

As You're getting values from textfield as jTextField3.getText();.

As it is a textField it will return you string format as its format says:

String getText()

      Returns the text contained in this TextComponent.

So, convert your String to Integer as:

int jml = Integer.parseInt(jTextField3.getText());

instead of directly setting

   int jml = jTextField3.getText();

How to set xlim and ylim for a subplot in matplotlib

You should use the OO interface to matplotlib, rather than the state machine interface. Almost all of the plt.* function are thin wrappers that basically do gca().*.

plt.subplot returns an axes object. Once you have a reference to the axes object you can plot directly to it, change its limits, etc.

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

ax1 = plt.subplot(131)
ax1.scatter([1, 2], [3, 4])
ax1.set_xlim([0, 5])
ax1.set_ylim([0, 5])

ax2 = plt.subplot(132)
ax2.scatter([1, 2],[3, 4])
ax2.set_xlim([0, 5])
ax2.set_ylim([0, 5])

and so on for as many axes as you want.

or better, wrap it all up in a loop:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

DATA_x = ([1, 2],
          [2, 3],
          [3, 4])

DATA_y = DATA_x[::-1]

XLIMS = [[0, 10]] * 3
YLIMS = [[0, 10]] * 3

for j, (x, y, xlim, ylim) in enumerate(zip(DATA_x, DATA_y, XLIMS, YLIMS)):
    ax = plt.subplot(1, 3, j + 1)
    ax.scatter(x, y)
    ax.set_xlim(xlim)
    ax.set_ylim(ylim)

     myObject.value3 = somevalue3;

What is the significance of #pragma marks? Why do we need #pragma marks?

#pragma mark directives show up in Xcode in the menus for direct access to methods. They have no impact on the program at all.

For example, using it with Xcode 4 will make those items appear directly in the Jump Bar.

There is a special pragma mark - which creates a line.

Your scanf("%s", s); is commented out. That means s is uninitialized, so when this line ln = strlen(s); executes, you get a seg fault.

It always helps to initialize a pointer to NULL, and then test for null before using the pointer.

"Unable to acquire application service" error while launching Eclipse

I got this problem with Mac OS Lion, after transfer OS/Data from an older machine to a new one.

Solved deleting the old eclipse folder (which I have in Applications folder) and copy eclipse folder again (same version, same unpacked zip file, no changes).

Keeping it simple and how to do multiple CTE in a query

You certainly are able to have multiple CTEs in a single query expression. You just need to separate them with a comma. Here is an example. In the example below, there are two CTEs. One is named CategoryAndNumberOfProducts and the second is named ProductsOverTenDollars.

WITH CategoryAndNumberOfProducts (CategoryID, CategoryName, NumberOfProducts) AS
(
   SELECT
      CategoryID,
      CategoryName,
      (SELECT COUNT(1) FROM Products p
       WHERE p.CategoryID = c.CategoryID) as NumberOfProducts
   FROM Categories c
),

ProductsOverTenDollars (ProductID, CategoryID, ProductName, UnitPrice) AS
(
   SELECT
      ProductID,
      CategoryID,
      ProductName,
      UnitPrice
   FROM Products p
   WHERE UnitPrice > 10.0
)

SELECT c.CategoryName, c.NumberOfProducts,
      p.ProductName, p.UnitPrice
FROM ProductsOverTenDollars p
   INNER JOIN CategoryAndNumberOfProducts c ON
      p.CategoryID = c.CategoryID
ORDER BY ProductName

How do I delete specific lines in Notepad++?

Here is a way that removes the lines containing "YOURTEXT" completely:

  • Open the Replace dialog
  • Enter the following search string: .*YOURTEXT.*[\r]?[\n] (replace YOURTEXT with your text)
  • Enable "Regular expression"
  • Disable ". matches newline"

The given regular expression matches both Windows and Unix end of lines.

If your text contains characters that have a special meaning for regular expression, like the backslash, you will need to escape them.

List of encodings that Node.js supports

If the above solution does not work for you it is may be possible to obtain the same result with the following pure nodejs code. The above did not work for me and resulted in a compilation exception when running 'npm install iconv' on OSX:

fs.readFileSync() returns a Buffer if no encoding is specified. And Buffer has a toString() method that will convert to UTF8 if no encoding is specified giving you the file's contents. See the nodejs documentation. This worked for me.

Checking for #N/A in Excel cell from VBA code

First check for an error (N/A value) and then try the comparisation against cvErr(). You are comparing two different things, a value and an error. This may work, but not always. Simply casting the expression to an error may result in similar problems because it is not a real error only the value of an error which depends on the expression.

If IsError(ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Publish").Range("G4").offset(offsetCount, 0).Value) Then
  If (ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Publish").Range("G4").offset(offsetCount, 0).Value <> CVErr(xlErrNA)) Then
    'do something
  End If
End If

ENDLIST;

$arr = explode("\n", $csv);
foreach ($arr as &$line) {
  $line = str_getcsv($line);

How to truncate a foreign key constrained table?

Tested on MYSQL Database

Solution 1:

SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 0;
TRUNCATE table1;

Solution 2:

DELETE FROM table1;
ALTER TABLE table1 AUTO_INCREMENT = 1;
TRUNCATE table1;

This works for me. I hope, this will help you also. Thanks for asking this question.

Match line break with regular expression

You could search for:

<li><a href="#">[^\n]+

And replace with:

Where $0 is the whole match. The exact semantics will depend on the language are you using though.

What's the "Content-Length" field in HTTP header?

According to the spec:

The Content-Length entity-header field indicates the size of the entity-body, in decimal number of OCTETs, sent to the recipient or, in the case of the HEAD method, the size of the entity-body that would have been sent had the request been a GET.

Content-Length    = "Content-Length" ":" 1*DIGIT

An example is

Content-Length: 3495

Applications SHOULD use this field to indicate the transfer-length of the message-body, unless this is prohibited by the rules in section 4.4.

Any Content-Length greater than or equal to zero is a valid value. Section 4.4 describes how to determine the length of a message-body if a Content-Length is not given.

Note that the meaning of this field is significantly different from the corresponding definition in MIME, where it is an optional field used within the "message/external-body" content-type. In HTTP, it SHOULD be sent whenever the message's length can be determined prior to being transferred, unless this is prohibited by the rules in section 4.4.

What is the python keyword "with" used for?

In python the with keyword is used when working with unmanaged resources (like file streams). It is similar to the using statement in VB.NET and C#. It allows you to ensure that a resource is "cleaned up" when the code that uses it finishes running, even if exceptions are thrown. It provides 'syntactic sugar' for try/finally blocks.

From Python Docs:

The with statement clarifies code that previously would use try...finally blocks to ensure that clean-up code is executed. In this section, I’ll discuss the statement as it will commonly be used. In the next section, I’ll examine the implementation details and show how to write objects for use with this statement.

The with statement is a control-flow structure whose basic structure is:

with expression [as variable]:
    with-block

The expression is evaluated, and it should result in an object that supports the context management protocol (that is, has __enter__() and __exit__() methods).

Update fixed VB callout per Scott Wisniewski's comment. I was indeed confusing with with using.

WPF Label Foreground Color

I checked your XAML, it works fine - e.g. both labels have a gray foreground.
My guess is that you have some style which is affecting the way it looks...

Try moving your XAML to a brand-new window and see for yourself... Then, check if you have any themes or styles (in the Window.Resources for instance) which might be affecting the labels...

How to round double to nearest whole number and then convert to a float?

Here is a quick example:

public class One {

    /**
     * @param args
     */
    public static void main(String[] args) {

        double a = 4.56777;
        System.out.println( new Float( Math.round(a)) );

    }

}

the result and output will be: 5.0
the closest upper bound Float to the starting value of double a = 4.56777
in this case the use of round is recommended since it takes in double values and provides whole long values

How to compare two colors for similarity/difference

A color value has more than one dimension, so there is no intrinsic way to compare two colors. You have to determine for your use case the meaning of the colors and thereby how to best compare them.

Most likely you want to compare the hue, saturation and/or lightness properties of the colors as oppposed to the red/green/blue components. If you are having trouble figuring out how you want to compare them, take some pairs of sample colors and compare them mentally, then try to justify/explain to yourself why they are similar/different.

Once you know which properties/components of the colors you want to compare, then you need to figure out how to extract that information from a color.

Most likely you will just need to convert the color from the common RedGreenBlue representation to HueSaturationLightness, and then calculate something like

avghue = (color1.hue + color2.hue)/2
distance = abs(color1.hue-avghue)

This example would give you a simple scalar value indicating how far the gradient/hue of the colors are from each other.

See HSL and HSV at Wikipedia.

Representing EOF in C code?

I've read all the comments. It's interesting to notice what happens when you print out this:

printf("\nInteger =    %d\n", EOF);             //OUTPUT = -1
printf("Decimal =    %d\n", EOF);               //OUTPUT = -1
printf("Octal =  %o\n", EOF);                   //OUTPUT = 37777777777
printf("Hexadecimal =  %x\n", EOF);             //OUTPUT = ffffffff
printf("Double and float =  %f\n", EOF);        //OUTPUT = 0.000000
printf("Long double =  %Lf\n", EOF);            //OUTPUT = 0.000000
printf("Character =  %c\n", EOF);               //OUTPUT = nothing

As we can see here, EOF is NOT a character (whatsoever).

Could not find folder 'tools' inside SDK

My solution was to remove the Eclipse ADT plugin via menu "Help > About Eclipse SDK > Installation Details". Eclipse will restart.

Next go to Menu "Help > Install New Software", then add the ADT plugin url "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse" (or select the existing link from the dropdown).

This will re-install the latest ADT, including the DDMS files.

Doing HTTP requests FROM Laravel to an external API

Basic Solution for Laravel 8 is

use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Http;

$response = Http::get('http://example.com');

I had conflict between "GuzzleHTTP sending requests" and "Illuminate\Http\Request;" don't ask me why... [it's here to be searchable]

So looking for 1sec i found in Laravel 8 Doc...

**Guzzle is inside the Laravel 8 Http Request !**

https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/http-client#making-requests

as you can see

https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/http-client#introduction

Laravel provides an expressive, minimal API around the Guzzle HTTP client, allowing you to quickly make outgoing HTTP requests to communicate with other web applications. Laravel's wrapper around Guzzle is focused on its most common use cases and a wonderful developer experience.

It worked for me very well, have fun and if helpful point up!

Why Python 3.6.1 throws AttributeError: module 'enum' has no attribute 'IntFlag'?

Installing version 1.1.8 of enum34 worked for me.

I was able to fix this by adding enum34 = "==1.1.8" to pyproject.toml. Apparently enum34 had a feature in v1.1.8 that avoided this error, but this regressed in v1.1.9+. This is just a workaround though. The better solution would be for packages to use environment markers so you don't have to install enum34 at all unless needed.

How do you make an array of structs in C?

That error means that the compiler is not able to find the definition of the type of your struct before the declaration of the array of structs, since you're saying you have the definition of the struct in a header file and the error is in nbody.c then you should check if you're including correctly the header file. Check your #include's and make sure the definition of the struct is done before declaring any variable of that type.

How to get start and end of previous month in VB

The first day of the previous month is always 1, to get the last day of the previous month, use 0 with DateSerial:

''Today is 20/03/2013 in dd/mm/yyyy
DateSerial(Year(Date),Month(Date),0) = 28/02/2013
DateSerial(Year(Date),1,0) = 31/12/2012

You can get the first day from the above like so:

LastDay = DateSerial(Year(Date),Month(Date),0)
FirstDay = LastDay-Day(LastDay)+1

jQuery UI Alert Dialog as a replacement for alert()

There is an issue that if you close the dialog it will execute the onCloseCallback function. This is a better design.

function jAlert2(outputMsg, titleMsg, onCloseCallback) {
    if (!titleMsg)
        titleMsg = 'Alert';

    if (!outputMsg)
        outputMsg = 'No Message to Display.';

            "Cancel": function() {
          $( this ).dialog( "destroy" );
            }

        },
    });

CSS filter: make color image with transparency white

To my knowledge, there is sadly no CSS filter to colorise an element (perhaps with the use of some SVG filter magic, but I'm somewhat unfamiliar with that) and even if that wasn't the case, filters are basically only supported by webkit browsers.

With that said, you could still work around this and use a canvas to modify your image. Basically, you can draw an image element onto a canvas and then loop through the pixels, modifying the respective RGBA values to the colour you want.

However, canvases do come with some restrictions. Most importantly, you have to make sure that the image src comes from the same domain as the page. Otherwise the browser won't allow you to read or modify the pixel data of the canvas.

Here's a JSFiddle changing the colour of the JSFiddle logo.

name.blade.php

  <html>

Returning binary file from controller in ASP.NET Web API

For anyone having the problem of the API being called more than once while downloading a fairly large file using the method in the accepted answer, please set response buffering to true System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Buffer = true;

This makes sure that the entire binary content is buffered on the server side before it is sent to the client. Otherwise you will see multiple request being sent to the controller and if you do not handle it properly, the file will become corrupt.

Using Java 8's Optional with Stream::flatMap

Java 9

Optional.stream has been added to JDK 9. This enables you to do the following, without the need of any helper method:

Optional<Other> result =
    things.stream()
          .map(this::resolve)
          .flatMap(Optional::stream)
          .findFirst();

Java 8

Yes, this was a small hole in the API, in that it's somewhat inconvenient to turn an Optional<T> into a zero-or-one length Stream<T>. You could do this:

Optional<Other> result =
    things.stream()
          .map(this::resolve)
          .flatMap(o -> o.isPresent() ? Stream.of(o.get()) : Stream.empty())
          .findFirst();

Having the ternary operator inside the flatMap is a bit cumbersome, though, so it might be better to write a little helper function to do this:

/**
 * Turns an Optional<T> into a Stream<T> of length zero or one depending upon
 * whether a value is present.
 */
static <T> Stream<T> streamopt(Optional<T> opt) {
    if (opt.isPresent())
        return Stream.of(opt.get());
    else
        return Stream.empty();
}

Optional<Other> result =
    things.stream()
          .flatMap(t -> streamopt(resolve(t)))
          .findFirst();

Here, I've inlined the call to resolve() instead of having a separate map() operation, but this is a matter of taste.

AngularJS ng-class if-else expression

A workaround of mine is to manipulate a model variable just for the ng-class toggling:

For example, I want to toggle class according to the state of my list:

1) Whenever my list is empty, I update my model:

$scope.extract = function(removeItemId) {
    $scope.list= jQuery.grep($scope.list, function(item){return item.id != removeItemId});
    if (!$scope.list.length) {
        $scope.liststate = "empty";
    }
}

2) Whenever my list is not empty, I set another state

$scope.extract = function(item) {
    $scope.list.push(item);
    $scope.liststate = "notempty";
}

3) When my list is not ever touched, I want to give another class (this is where the page is initiated):

$scope.liststate = "init";

3) I use this additional model on my ng-class:

ng-class="{'bg-empty': liststate == 'empty', 'bg-notempty': liststate == 'notempty', 'bg-init': liststate = 'init'}"

How can I position my div at the bottom of its container?

For those only have one child in the container, you can use the table-cell and vertical-align approach which worked reliably for positioning a single div at the bottom of its parent.

Note that using table-footer-group as other answers mentioned will break the height calculation of parent table.

How to know what the 'errno' means?

There's a few useful functions for dealing with errnos. (Just to make it clear, these are built-in to libc -- I'm just providing sample implementations because some people find reading code clearer than reading English.)

#include <string.h>
char *strerror(int errnum);

/* you can think of it as being implemented like this: */
static char strerror_buf[1024];
const char *sys_errlist[] = {
    [EPERM]  = "Operation not permitted",
    [ENOENT] = "No such file or directory",
    [ESRCH]  = "No such process",
    [EINTR]  = "Interrupted system call",
    [EIO]    = "I/O error",
    [ENXIO] = "No such device or address",
    [E2BIG] = "Argument list too long",
    /* etc. */
};
int sys_nerr = sizeof(sys_errlist) / sizeof(char *);
char *strerror(int errnum) {
    if (0 <= errnum && errnum < sys_nerr && sys_errlist[errnum])
        strcpy(strerror_buf, sys_errlist[errnum]);
    else
        sprintf(strerror_buf, "Unknown error %d", errnum);
    return strerror_buf;
}

strerror returns a string describing the error number you've passed to it. Caution, this is not thread- or interrupt-safe; it is free to rewrite the string and return the same pointer on the next invocation. Use strerror_r if you need to worry about that.

#include <stdio.h>
void perror(const char *s);

/* you can think of it as being implemented like this: */
void perror(const char *s) {
    fprintf(stderr, "%s: %s\n", s, strerror(errno));
}

perror prints out the message you give it, plus a string describing the current errno, to standard error.

Configure DataSource programmatically in Spring Boot

If you're using latest spring boot (with jdbc starter and Hikari) you'll run into: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: jdbcUrl is required with driverClassName. To solve this:

  1. In your application.properties:

datasource.oracle.url=youroracleurl

  1. In your application define as bean (@Primary is mandatory!):
@Bean
@Primary
@ConfigurationProperties("datasource.oracle")
public DataSourceProperties getDatasourceProperties() {
    return new DataSourceProperties();
}

@Bean
@ConfigurationProperties("datasource.oracle")
public DataSource getDatasource() {
    return getDatasourceProperties().initializeDataSourceBuilder()
           .username("username")
           .password("password")
           .build();
}

How to see top processes sorted by actual memory usage?

First you should read an explanation on the output of free. Bottom line: you have at least 10.7 GB of memory readily usable by processes.

Then you should define what "memory usage" is for a process (it's not easy or unambiguous, trust me).

Then we might be able to help more :-)

Where to put a textfile I want to use in eclipse?

Ask first yourself: Is your file an internal component of your application? (That usually implies that it's packed inside your JAR, or WAR if it is a web-app; typically, it's some configuration file or static resource, read-only).

If the answer is yes, you don't want to specify an absolute path for the file. But you neither want to access it with a relative path (as your example), because Java assumes that path is relative to the "current directory". Usually the preferred way for this scenario is to load it relatively from the classpath.

Java provides you the classLoader.getResource() method for doing this. And Eclipse (in the normal setup) assumes src/ is to be in the root of your classpath, so that, after compiling, it copies everything to your output directory ( bin/ ), the java files in compiled form ( .class ), the rest as is.

So, for example, if you place your file in src/Files/myfile.txt, it will be copied at compile time to bin/Files/myfile.txt ; and, at runtime, bin/ will be in (the root of) your classpath. So, by calling getResource("/Files/myfile.txt") (in some of its variants) you will be able to read it.

Edited: Further, if your file is conceptually tied to a java class (eg, some com.example.MyClass has a MyClass.cfg associated configuration file), you can use the getResource() method from the class and use a (resource) relative path: MyClass.getResource("MyClass.cfg"). The file then will be searched in the classpath, but with the class package pre-appended. So that, in this scenario, you'll typically place your MyClass.cfg and MyClass.java files in the same directory.

How to label each equation in align environment?

You can label each line separately, in your case:

\begin{align}
  \lambda_i + \mu_i = 0 \label{eq:1}\\
  \mu_i \xi_i = 0 \label{eq:2}\\
  \lambda_i [y_i( w^T x_i + b) - 1 + \xi_i] = 0 \label{eq:3}
\end{align}

Note that this only works for AMS environments that are designed for multiple equations (as opposed to multiline single equations).

Those are varargs they are used to create a method that receive any number of arguments.

For instance PrintStream.printf method uses it, since you don't know how many would arguments you'll use.

They can only be used as final position of the arguments.

varargs was was added on Java 1.5

Calling a Sub in VBA

For anyone still coming to this post, the other option is to simply omit the parentheses:

Sub SomeOtherSub(Stattyp As String)
    'Daty and the other variables are defined here

    CatSubProduktAreakum Stattyp, Daty + UBound(SubCategories) + 2

End Sub

The Call keywords is only really in VBA for backwards compatibilty and isn't actually required.

If however, you decide to use the Call keyword, then you have to change your syntax to suit.

'// With Call
Call Foo(Bar)

'// Without Call
Foo Bar

Both will do exactly the same thing.

That being said, there may be instances to watch out for where using parentheses unnecessarily will cause things to be evaluated where you didn't intend them to be (as parentheses do this in VBA) so with that in mind the better option is probably to omit the Call keyword and the parentheses

How can I store and retrieve images from a MySQL database using PHP?

My opinion is, Instead of storing images directly to the database, It is recommended to store the image location in the database. As we compare both options, Storing images in the database is safe for security purpose. Disadvantage are

  1. If database is corrupted, no way to retrieve.

  2. Retrieving image files from db is slow when compare to other option.

On the other hand, storing image file location in db will have following advantages.

  1. It is easy to retrieve.

  2. If more than one images are stored, we can easily retrieve image information.

What is two way binding?

Worth mentioning that there are many different solutions which offer two way binding and play really nicely.

I have had a pleasant experience with this model binder - https://github.com/theironcook/Backbone.ModelBinder. which gives sensible defaults yet a lot of custom jquery selector mapping of model attributes to input elements.

Can you use if/else conditions in CSS?

Not in the traditional sense, but you can use classes for this, if you have access to the HTML. Consider this:

<p class="normal">Text</p>

<p class="active">Text</p>

and in your CSS file:

p.normal {
  background-position : 150px 8px;
}
p.active {
  background-position : 4px 8px;
}

That's the CSS way to do it.

Then there are CSS preprocessors like Sass. You can use conditionals there, which'd look like this:

$type: monster;
p {
  @if $type == ocean {
    color: blue;
  } @else if $type == matador {
    color: red;
  } @else if $type == monster {
    color: green;
  } @else {
    color: black;
  }
}

Disadvantages are, that you're bound to pre-process your stylesheets, and that the condition is evaluated at compile time, not run time.

A newer feature of CSS proper are custom properties (a.k.a. CSS variables). They are evaluated at run time (in browsers supporting them).

With them you could do something along the line:

:root {
  --main-bg-color: brown;
}

.one {
  background-color: var(--main-bg-color);
}

.two {
  background-color: black;
}

Finally, you can preprocess your stylesheet with your favourite server-side language. If you're using PHP, serve a style.css.php file, that looks something like this:

p {
  background-position: <?php echo (@$_GET['foo'] == 'bar')? "150" : "4"; ?>px 8px;
}

In this case, you will however have a performance impact, since caching such a stylesheet will be difficult.

PowerMockito mock single static method and return object

What you want to do is a combination of part of 1 and all of 2.

You need to use the PowerMockito.mockStatic to enable static mocking for all static methods of a class. This means make it possible to stub them using the when-thenReturn syntax.

But the 2-argument overload of mockStatic you are using supplies a default strategy for what Mockito/PowerMock should do when you call a method you haven't explicitly stubbed on the mock instance.

From the javadoc:

Creates class mock with a specified strategy for its answers to interactions. It's quite advanced feature and typically you don't need it to write decent tests. However it can be helpful when working with legacy systems. It is the default answer so it will be used only when you don't stub the method call.

The default default stubbing strategy is to just return null, 0 or false for object, number and boolean valued methods. By using the 2-arg overload, you're saying "No, no, no, by default use this Answer subclass' answer method to get a default value. It returns a Long, so if you have static methods which return something incompatible with Long, there is a problem.

Instead, use the 1-arg version of mockStatic to enable stubbing of static methods, then use when-thenReturn to specify what to do for a particular method. For example:

import static org.mockito.Mockito.*;

import org.junit.Test;
import org.junit.runner.RunWith;
import org.mockito.invocation.InvocationOnMock;
import org.mockito.stubbing.Answer;
import org.powermock.api.mockito.PowerMockito;
import org.powermock.core.classloader.annotations.PrepareForTest;
import org.powermock.modules.junit4.PowerMockRunner;

class ClassWithStatics {
  public static String getString() {
    return "String";
  }

  public static int getInt() {
    return 1;
  }
}

@RunWith(PowerMockRunner.class)
@PrepareForTest(ClassWithStatics.class)
public class StubJustOneStatic {
  @Test
  public void test() {
    PowerMockito.mockStatic(ClassWithStatics.class);

    when(ClassWithStatics.getString()).thenReturn("Hello!");

    System.out.println("String: " + ClassWithStatics.getString());
    System.out.println("Int: " + ClassWithStatics.getInt());
  }
}

The String-valued static method is stubbed to return "Hello!", while the int-valued static method uses the default stubbing, returning 0.

Regular expression \p{L} and \p{N}

\p{L} matches a single code point in the category "letter".
\p{N} matches any kind of numeric character in any script.

Source: regular-expressions.info

If you're going to work with regular expressions a lot, I'd suggest bookmarking that site, it's very useful.

Preloading images with JavaScript

I recommend you use a try/catch to prevent some possible issues:

OOP:

    var preloadImage = function (url) {
        try {
            var _img = new Image();
            _img.src = url;
        } catch (e) { }
    }

Standard:

    function preloadImage (url) {
        try {
            var _img = new Image();
            _img.src = url;
        } catch (e) { }
    }

Also, while I love DOM, old stupid browsers may have problems with you using DOM, so avoid it altogether IMHO contrary to freedev's contribution. Image() has better support in old trash browsers.

How to change JDK version for an Eclipse project

The JDK (JAVA_HOME) used to launch Eclipse is not necessarily the one used to compiled your project.

To see what JRE you can select for your project, check the preferences:

General ? Java Installed JRE

By default, if you have not added any JRE, the only one declared will be the one used to launched Eclipse (which can be defined in your eclipse.ini).

You can add any other JRE you want, including one compatible with your project.

After that, you will need to check in your project properties (or in the general preferences) what JRE is used, with what compliance level:

ArrayList: how does the size increase?

Default capacity of ArrayList is 10. Once the Capacity reaches its maximum capacity, Size of the ArrayList will be 16, once the capacity reaches its maximum capacity of 16, size of the ArrayList will be 25 and keep on increasing based on Data size.....

How? Here is the Answer and Formula

New capacity = (Current Capacity * 3/2) + 1

So, if the default capacity is 10, then

Current Capacity = 10
New capacity = (10 * 3/2) + 1
Output is 16

What is the role of "Flatten" in Keras?

Flatten make explicit how you serialize a multidimensional tensor (tipically the input one). This allows the mapping between the (flattened) input tensor and the first hidden layer. If the first hidden layer is "dense" each element of the (serialized) input tensor will be connected with each element of the hidden array. If you do not use Flatten, the way the input tensor is mapped onto the first hidden layer would be ambiguous.

Checking if a collection is empty in Java: which is the best method?

If you have the Apache common utilities in your project rather use the first one. Because its shorter and does exactly the same as the latter one. There won't be any difference between both methods but how it looks inside the source code.

Also a empty check using

listName.size() != 0

Is discouraged because all collection implementations have the

listName.isEmpty()

function that does exactly the same.

So all in all, if you have the Apache common utils in your classpath anyway, use

if (CollectionUtils.isNotEmpty(listName))

in any other case use

if(listName != null && listName.isEmpty())

You will not notice any performance difference. Both lines do exactly the same.

  routeTemplate: "api/{controller}/{action}/{id}",
  defaults: new { action = "get", id = RouteParameter.Optional });

Then implement your API as bellow

    // GET: api/Controller_Name/Show/1
    [ActionName("Show")]
    [HttpGet]
    public EventPlanner Id(int id){}

Easy way to dismiss keyboard?

the easist way is to call the method

- (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event
{
    if(![txtfld resignFirstResponder])
    {
        [txtfld resignFirstResponder];
    }
    else
    {

    }
    [super touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event];
}

Jquery, checking if a value exists in array or not

Try jQuery.inArray()

Here is a jsfiddle link using the same code : http://jsfiddle.net/yrshaikh/SUKn2/

The $.inArray() method is similar to JavaScript's native .indexOf() method in that it returns -1 when it doesn't find a match. If the first element within the array matches value, $.inArray() returns 0

Example Code :

<html>
   <head>
      <style>
         div { color:blue; }
         span { color:red; }
  </style>
      <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script>
   </head>
   <body>
      <div>"John" found at <span></span></div>
      <div>4 found at <span></span></div>
      <div>"Karl" not found, so <span></span></div>
      <div>
         "Pete" is in the array, but not at or after index 2, so <span></span>
      </div>
      <script>
         var arr = [ 4, "Pete", 8, "John" ];
         var $spans = $("span");
         $spans.eq(0).text(jQuery.inArray("John", arr));
         $spans.eq(1).text(jQuery.inArray(4, arr));
         $spans.eq(2).text(jQuery.inArray("Karl", arr));
         $spans.eq(3).text(jQuery.inArray("Pete", arr, 2));
      </script>
   </body>
</html>

Output:

"John" found at 3
4 found at 0
"Karl" not found, so -1
"Pete" is in the array, but not at or after index 2, so -1

Is it possible to get all arguments of a function as single object inside that function?

Similar answer to Gunnar, with more complete example: You can even transparently return the whole thing:

function dumpArguments(...args) {
  for (var i = 0; i < args.length; i++)
    console.log(args[i]);
  return args;
}

dumpArguments("foo", "bar", true, 42, ["yes", "no"], { 'banana': true });

Output:

foo
bar
true
42
["yes","no"]
{"banana":true}

How to get URL of current page in PHP

 $uri = $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];

This will give you the requested directory and file name. If you use mod_rewrite, this is extremely useful because it tells you what page the user was looking at.

If you need the actual file name, you might want to try either $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'], the magic constant __FILE__, or $_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME']. The latter 2 give you the complete path (from the root of the server), rather than just the root of your website. They are useful for includes and such.

$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] gives you the file name relative to the root of the website.

 $relative_path = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
 $complete_path = __FILE__;
 $complete_path = $_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'];

How can I create an utility class?

For a completely stateless utility class in Java, I suggest the class be declared public and final, and have a private constructor to prevent instantiation. The final keyword prevents sub-classing and can improve efficiency at runtime.

The class should contain all static methods and should not be declared abstract (as that would imply the class is not concrete and has to be implemented in some way).

The class should be given a name that corresponds to its set of provided utilities (or "Util" if the class is to provide a wide range of uncategorized utilities).

The class should not contain a nested class unless the nested class is to be a utility class as well (though this practice is potentially complex and hurts readability).

Methods in the class should have appropriate names.

Methods only used by the class itself should be private.

The class should not have any non-final/non-static class fields.

The class can also be statically imported by other classes to improve code readability (this depends on the complexity of the project however).

Example:

public final class ExampleUtilities {
    // Example Utility method
    public static int foo(int i, int j) {
        int val;

        //Do stuff

        return val;
    }

    // Example Utility method overloaded
    public static float foo(float i, float j) {
        float val;

        //Do stuff

        return val;
    }

    // Example Utility method calling private method
    public static long bar(int p) {
        return hid(p) * hid(p);
    }

    // Example private method
    private static long hid(int i) {
        return i * 2 + 1;
    }
}

Perhaps most importantly of all, the documentation for each method should be precise and descriptive. Chances are methods from this class will be used very often and its good to have high quality documentation to complement the code.

Process with an ID #### is not running in visual studio professional 2013 update 3

Resolution I found;

Head to the following directory

%userprofile%\documents\IISExpress\Config directory

Delete all files within that folder. Restart visual studio and works like a charm.
