The quantile() function will do much of what you probably want, but since the question was ambiguous, I will provide an alternate answer that does something slightly different from quantile().

ecdf(infert$age)(infert$age)

will generate a vector of the same length as infert$age giving the proportion of infert$age that is below each observation. You can read the ecdf documentation, but the basic idea is that ecdf() will give you a function that returns the empirical cumulative distribution. Thus ecdf(X)(Y) is the value of the cumulative distribution of X at the points in Y. If you wanted to know just the probability of being below 30 (thus what percentile 30 is in the sample), you could say

ecdf(infert$age)(30)

The main difference between this approach and using the quantile() function is that quantile() requires that you put in the probabilities to get out the levels, and this requires that you put in the levels to get out the probabilities.

Just to add that the percentile function in numpy by default calculates the output as a linear weighted average of the two neighboring entries in the input vector. In some cases people may want the returned percentile to be an actual element of the vector, in this case, from v1.9.0 onwards you can use the "interpolation" option, with either "lower", "higher" or "nearest".

You're looking for the placeholder attribute. Use it like any other attribute inside your ASP.net control:

A fine way of applying the hint to the control is using resources. This way you may have localized hints. Let's say you have an index.aspx file, your App_LocalResources/index.aspx.resx file contains

Add attribute in code behind

When you set the Drawable of an ImageView by using the setBackgroundDrawable method, the image will always be scaled. Parameters as adjustViewBounds or different ScaleTypes will just be ignored. The only solution to keep the aspect ratio I found, is to resize the ImageView after loading your drawable. Here is the code snippet I used:

An important thing to note is the change of the layout parameters. This is necessary because setMaxHeight and setMaxWidth will only make a difference if the width and height are defined to wrap the content, not to fill the parent. Fill parent on the other hand is the desired setting at the beginning, because otherwise containerWidth and containerHeight will both have values equal to 0. So, in your layout file you will have something like this for your ImageView:

A bit decent web application consists of a mix of design patterns. I'll mention only the most important ones.

Model View Controller pattern

The core (architectural) design pattern you'd like to use is the Model-View-Controller pattern. The Controller is to be represented by a Servlet which (in)directly creates/uses a specific Model and View based on the request. The Model is to be represented by Javabean classes. This is often further dividable in Business Model which contains the actions (behaviour) and Data Model which contains the data (information). The View is to be represented by JSP files which have direct access to the (Data) Model by EL (Expression Language).

Then, there are variations based on how actions and events are handled. The popular ones are:

• Request (action) based MVC: this is the simplest to implement. The (Business) Model works directly with HttpServletRequest and HttpServletResponse objects. You have to gather, convert and validate the request parameters (mostly) yourself. The View can be represented by plain vanilla HTML/CSS/JS and it does not maintain state across requests. This is how among others Spring MVC, Struts and Stripes works.

• Component based MVC: this is harder to implement. But you end up with a simpler model and view wherein all the "raw" Servlet API is abstracted completely away. You shouldn't have the need to gather, convert and validate the request parameters yourself. The Controller does this task and sets the gathered, converted and validated request parameters in the Model. All you need to do is to define action methods which works directly with the model properties. The View is represented by "components" in flavor of JSP taglibs or XML elements which in turn generates HTML/CSS/JS. The state of the View for the subsequent requests is maintained in the session. This is particularly helpful for server-side conversion, validation and value change events. This is how among others JSF, Wicket and Play! works.

As a side note, hobbying around with a homegrown MVC framework is a very nice learning exercise, and I do recommend it as long as you keep it for personal/private purposes. But once you go professional, then it's strongly recommended to pick an existing framework rather than reinventing your own. Learning an existing and well-developed framework takes in long term less time than developing and maintaining a robust framework yourself.

In the below detailed explanation I'll restrict myself to request based MVC since that's easier to implement.

Front Controller pattern (Mediator pattern)

First, the Controller part should implement the Front Controller pattern (which is a specialized kind of Mediator pattern). It should consist of only a single servlet which provides a centralized entry point of all requests. It should create the Model based on information available by the request, such as the pathinfo or servletpath, the method and/or specific parameters. The Business Model is called Action in the below HttpServlet example.

Executing the action should return some identifier to locate the view. Simplest would be to use it as filename of the JSP. Map this servlet on a specific url-pattern in web.xml, e.g. /pages/*, *.do or even just *.html.

In case of prefix-patterns as for example /pages/* you could then invoke URL's like http://example.com/pages/register, http://example.com/pages/login, etc and provide /WEB-INF/register.jsp, /WEB-INF/login.jsp with the appropriate GET and POST actions. The parts register, login, etc are then available by request.getPathInfo() as in above example.

When you're using suffix-patterns like *.do, *.html, etc, then you could then invoke URL's like http://example.com/register.do, http://example.com/login.do, etc and you should change the code examples in this answer (also the ActionFactory) to extract the register and login parts by request.getServletPath() instead.

Strategy pattern

The Action should follow the Strategy pattern. It needs to be defined as an abstract/interface type which should do the work based on the passed-in arguments of the abstract method (this is the difference with the Command pattern, wherein the abstract/interface type should do the work based on the arguments which are been passed-in during the creation of the implementation).

Factory method pattern

The ActionFactory should follow the Factory method pattern. Basically, it should provide a creational method which returns a concrete implementation of an abstract/interface type. In this case, it should return an implementation of the Action interface based on the information provided by the request. For example, the method and pathinfo (the pathinfo is the part after the context and servlet path in the request URL, excluding the query string).

Other patterns

Those were the important patterns so far.

To get a step further, you could use the Facade pattern to create a Context class which in turn wraps the request and response objects and offers several convenience methods delegating to the request and response objects and pass that as argument into the Action#execute() method instead. This adds an extra abstract layer to hide the raw Servlet API away. You should then basically end up with zero import javax.servlet.* declarations in every Action implementation. In JSF terms, this is what the FacesContext and ExternalContext classes are doing. You can find a concrete example in this answer.

Then there's the State pattern for the case that you'd like to add an extra abstraction layer to split the tasks of gathering the request parameters, converting them, validating them, updating the model values and execute the actions. In JSF terms, this is what the LifeCycle is doing.

Then there's the Composite pattern for the case that you'd like to create a component based view which can be attached with the model and whose behaviour depends on the state of the request based lifecycle. In JSF terms, this is what the UIComponent represent.

This way you can evolve bit by bit towards a component based framework.

Long hand the verb is max() but note the na.rm = TRUE which is useful for examples where there are NAs as in the closed question: Merge rows in a dataframe where the rows are disjoint and contain NAs:

I don't see any difference w.r.t safety or versatility, since you can do the same thing with pointer or reference. I also don't think there is any visible difference in performance since references are implemented by pointers.

But I think using reference is better because it is consistent with the standard library. For example, chaining in iostream is done by reference rather than pointer.

How can I duplicate it with another Version?

You can detach entity which retrieved from provider, change the key of Entry and then persist it as a new entity.

As I mentioned in this answer, if the server runs on a port other than 80 (as might be common on a development/intranet machine) then HTTP_HOST contains the port, while SERVER_NAME does not.

I had this problem too but the cause was different. I'm using VS2017 with F# 4.0.

Firstly, the console in Visual Studio does not give you enough details why the tests could not be found; it will just fail to the load the DLL with the tests. So use NUnit3console.exe on the command line as this gives you more details.

In my case, it was because the test adapter was looking for a newer version of the F# Core DLL (4.4.1.0) (F# 4.1) whereas I'm still using 4.4.0.0 (F# 4.0). So I just added this to the app.config of the test project:-

You just need to add ? with Intent in onActivityResult as the data can be null if user cancels the transaction or anything goes wrong. So we need to define data as nullable in onActivityResult

I had this issue and realised that whilst I did have libxml2 installed, I didn't have the necessary development libraries required by the python package. Installing them solved the problem:

If using Visual Studio 2012 and later (which uses .NET regular expressions), you can remove trailing whitespace without removing blank lines by using the following regex

Some explanation

The reason you need the rather complicated expression is that the character class \s matches spaces, tabs and newline characters, so \s+ will match a group of lines containing only whitespace. It doesn't help adding a $ termination to this regex, because this will still match a group of lines containing only whitespace and newline characters.

You may also want to know (as I did) exactly what the (?([^\r\n])\s) expression means. This is an Alternation Construct, which effectively means match to the whitespace character class if it is not a carriage return or linefeed.

Alternation constructs normally have a true and false part,

(?( expression ) yes | no )

but in this case the false part is not specified.

It allows browsers to determine if they can handle the scripting/style language before making a request for the script or stylesheet (or, in the case of embedded script/style, identify which language is being used).

This would be much more important if there had been more competition among languages in browser space, but VBScript never made it beyond IE and PerlScript never made it beyond an IE specific plugin while JSSS was pretty rubbish to begin with.

The draft of HTML5 makes the attribute optional.

First of all, your variable "isLeapYear" is the same name as the method. That's just bad practice.

Second, you're not declaring "isLeapYear" as a variable. Java is strongly typed so you need a boolean isLeapYear; in the beginning of your method.

This call: System.out.println(boolean isLeapYear); is just wrong. There are no declarations in method calls.

Once you have declared isLeapYear to be a boolean variable, you can call System.out.println(isLeapYear);

Regarding tokens carrying information, JSON Web Tokens (http://jwt.io) is a brilliant technology. The main concept is to embed information elements (claims) into the token, and then signing the whole token so that the validating end can verify that the claims are indeed trustworthy.

Please note the following:

C# GUIDs are guaranteed to be unique. This solution is very likely to be unique. There is a huge gap between "very likely" and "guaranteed" and you don't want to fall through this gap.

JavaScript-generated GUIDs are great to use as a temporary key that you use while waiting for a server to respond, but I wouldn't necessarily trust them as the primary key in a database. If you are going to rely on a JavaScript-generated GUID, I would be tempted to check a register each time a GUID is created to ensure you haven't got a duplicate (an issue that has come up in the Chrome browser in some cases).

To summarize the below posts a bit:

If all you care about is if at least one matching row is in the DB then use exists as it is the most efficient way of checking this: it will return true as soon as it finds at least one matching row whereas count, etc will find all matching rows.

If you actually need to use the data for processing or if the query has side effects, or if you need to know the actual total number of rows then checking the ROWCOUNT or count is probably the best way on hand.

Just looking at the message it sounds like one or more of the components that you reference, or one or more of their dependencies is not registered properly.

If you know which component it is you can use regsvr32.exe to register it, just open a command prompt, go to the directory where the component is and type regsvr32 filename.dll (assuming it's a dll), if it works, try to run the code again otherwise come back here with the error.

If you don't know which component it is, try re-installing/repairing the GIS software (I assume you've installed some GIS software that includes the component you're trying to use).

You don't have to uninstall any higher version of sdk. just install jdk1.8.0_161 or don't if it is already install.

Not true for the OP, but this error can be caused by using single quotation marks (') instead of double (") for strings.

Your fns is a cellstr array. You need to index in to it with {} instead of () to get the single string out as char.

Indexing in to it with () returns a 1-long cellstr array, which isn't the same format as the char array that the ".(name)" dynamic field reference wants. The formatting, especially in the display output, can be confusing. To see the difference, try this.

You need to store all of the extra rows in the files in your dictionary, not just one of them:

We have experienced similar issue, and the problem was MySQL used /tmp directory for its needs (it's default configuration). And /tmp was located on its own partition, that had too few space for big MySQL requests.

On my Mac that I'm sure I'm not going to allow java anyplace other than a specific site, I was able to use Preferences->Java to bring up the Java control panel and turned the checking off. If DLink ever fixes their certificate, I'll turn it back on.

I got lucky and answered this in a comment to the question, but I'm posting a full answer for the sake of completeness and so we can mark this question as "Answered".

It depends on what you want to accomplish by sharing a controller; you can either share the same controller (though have different instances), or you can share the same controller instance.

Share a Controller

Two directives can use the same controller by passing the same method to two directives, like so:

require ensures the presence of another directive and then includes its controller as a parameter to the link function. So if you have two directives on one element, your directive can require the presence of the other directive and gain access to its controller methods. A common use case for this is to require ngModel.

^require, with the addition of the caret, checks elements above directive in addition to the current element to try to find the other directive. This allows you to create complex components where "sub-components" can communicate with the parent component through its controller to great effect. Examples could include tabs, where each pane can communicate with the overall tabs to handle switching; an accordion set could ensure only one is open at a time; etc.

In either event, you have to use the two directives together for this to work. require is a way of communicating between components.

The way I've done this, which is a bit convoluted, is as follows:

1. Sort rows by the points in descending order
2. Create an additional column (D) starting at D2 with numbers 1,2,3,... total number of positions
3. In the cell for the actual positions (D2) use the formula if(C2=C1), D2, C1). This checks if the points in this row are the same as the points in the previous row. If it is it gives you the position of the previous row, otherwise it uses the value from column D and thus handle people with equal positions.
4. Copy this formula down the entire column
5. Copy the positions column(C), then paste special >> values to overwrite the formula with positions
6. Resort the rows to their original order

That's worked for me! If there's a better way I'd love to know it!

One of the best semi solutions is to copy %1 into a variable and then use delayed expansion, as delayedExp. is always safe against any content.

Point of an async Task is to let it execute in background without locking the main thread, such as doing a DownloadFileAsync

System.Threading.Thread.Sleep isn't something that is "being done", it just sleeps, and therefore your next line is reached after 5 seconds ...

Why do I need the descriptor class?

It gives you extra control over how attributes work. If you're used to getters and setters in Java, for example, then it's Python's way of doing that. One advantage is that it looks to users just like an attribute (there's no change in syntax). So you can start with an ordinary attribute and then, when you need to do something fancy, switch to a descriptor.

An attribute is just a mutable value. A descriptor lets you execute arbitrary code when reading or setting (or deleting) a value. So you could imagine using it to map an attribute to a field in a database, for example – a kind of ORM.

Another use might be refusing to accept a new value by throwing an exception in __set__ – effectively making the "attribute" read only.

What is instance and owner here? (in __get__). What is the purpose of these parameters?

This is pretty subtle (and the reason I am writing a new answer here - I found this question while wondering the same thing and didn't find the existing answer that great).

A descriptor is defined on a class, but is typically called from an instance. When it's called from an instance both instance and owner are set (and you can work out owner from instance so it seems kinda pointless). But when called from a class, only owner is set – which is why it's there.

This is only needed for __get__ because it's the only one that can be called on a class. If you set the class value you set the descriptor itself. Similarly for deletion. Which is why the owner isn't needed there.

How would I call/use this example?

Well, here's a cool trick using similar classes:

You can have any length, but of course, there can be a memory issue on the computer if the String input is too long. The output is always 32 characters.

This is typical programming practice for defining variables that are member variables. So when you're using them later, you don't need to see where they're defined to know their scope. This is also great if you already know the scope and you're using something like intelliSense, you can start with m_ and a list of all your member variables are shown. Assuming you're not writing a rubygem, Gemfile.lock should be in your repository. It's used as a snapshot of all your required gems and their dependencies. This way bundler doesn't have to recalculate all the gem dependencies each time you deploy, etc.

If you are working on a gem, then DO NOT check in your Gemfile.lock. If you are working on a Rails app, then DO check in your Gemfile.lock.

Facelets is an XML-based view technology for the JavaServer Faces framework. Designed specifically for JSF, Facelets is intended to be a simpler and more powerful alternative to JSP-based views. Initially a separate project, the technology was standardized as part of JSF 2.0 and Java-EE 6 and has deprecated JSP. Almost all JSF 2.0 targeted component libraries do not support JSP anymore, but only Facelets.

Sadly the best plain tutorial description I found was on Wikipedia and not a tutorial site. In fact the section describing templates even does along the lines of what the original question was asking for.

Due to the fact that Java-EE 6 has deprecated JSP I would recommend going with Facelets despite the fact that it looks like there might be more required for little to no gain over JSP.

You can easily validate an XML file or tree against an XML Schema (XSD) with the xmlschema Python package. It's pure Python, available on PyPi and doesn't have many dependencies.

Example - validate a file:

A pure virtual function is usually not (but can be) implemented in a base class and must be implemented in a leaf subclass.

You denote that fact by appending the "= 0" to the declaration, like this:

What you want to do is separate the content of the table from the header of the table. You want only the <th> elements to be scrolled. You can easily define this separation in HTML with the <tbody> and the <thead> elements.
Now the header and the body of the table are still connected to each other, they will still have the same width (and same scroll properties). Now to let them not 'work' as a table anymore you can set the display: block. This way <thead> and <tbody> are separated.

to achieve "alignment", you have to know "in advance" how wide each column will need to be (otherwise, alignment is impossible). Once you do know the needed width for each column (there are several possible ways to achieve that depending on where your data's coming from), then the setw function mentioned in the other answer will help, or (more brutally;-) you could emit carefully computed number of extra spaces (clunky, to be sure), etc. I don't recommend tabs anyway as you have no real control on how the final output device will render those, in general.

Back to the core issue, if you have each column's value in a vector<T> of some sort, for example, you can do a first formatting pass to determine the maximum width of the column, for example (be sure to take into account the width of the header for the column, too, of course).

If your rows are coming "one by one", and alignment is crucial, you'll have to cache or buffer the rows as they come in (in memory if they fit, otherwise on a disk file that you'll later "rewind" and re-read from the start), taking care to keep updated the vector of "maximum widths of each column" as the rows do come. You can't output anything (not even the headers!), if keeping alignment is crucial, until you've seen the very last row (unless you somehow magically have previous knowledge of the columns' widths, of course;-).

Well it seems that you are missing a reference to some library. I had the similar error solved it by adding a reference to the #pragma comment(lib, "windowscodecs.lib")

If you are using jdk1.7.0_04, upgrade to jdk1.7.0_21. The problem has been fixed in that update.

Don't specify the column or value when inserting and the DEFAULT constaint's value will be substituted for the missing value.

I don't know how this would work in a single column table. I mean: it would, but it wouldn't be very useful.

To make sure all possible ways of line breaks (Windows, Mac and Unix) are replaced you should use:

I recently stumbled upon this great Gist that gives a working implementation of a drag sort ListView, with no external dependencies needed.

Basically it consists on creating your custom Adapter extending ArrayAdapter as an inner class to the activity containing your ListView. On this adapter one then sets an onTouchListener to your List Items that will signal the start of the drag.

In that Gist they set the listener to a specific part of the layout of the List Item (the "handle" of the item), so one does not accidentally move it by pressing any part of it. Personally, I preferred to go with an onLongClickListener instead, but that is up to you to decide. Here an excerpt of that part:

The expression listb.pop is a valid python expression which results in a reference to the pop method, but doesn't actually call that method. You need to add the open and close parentheses to call the method.

You could try the search feature in pip,

In many environments (e.g. Heroku), and as a convention, you can set the environment variable PORT to tell your web server what port to listen on.

So process.env.PORT || 3000 means: whatever is in the environment variable PORT, or 3000 if there's nothing there.

So you pass that to app.listen, or to app.set('port', ...), and that makes your server able to accept a "what port to listen on" parameter from the environment.

If you pass 3000 hard-coded to app.listen(), you're always listening on port 3000, which might be just for you, or not, depending on your requirements and the requirements of the environment in which you're running your server.

This cannot be done with the native javascript dialog box, but a lot of javascript libraries include more flexible dialogs. You can use something like jQuery UI's dialog box for this.

I dislike "Don't" answers, but... don't.

make's variables are global and are supposed to be evaluated during makefile's "parsing" stage, not during execution stage.

In this case, as long as the variable local to a single target, follow @nobar's answer and make it a shell variable.

Target-specific variables, too, are considered harmful by other make implementations: kati, Mozilla pymake. Because of them, a target can be built differently depending on if it's built standalone, or as a dependency of a parent target with a target-specific variable. And you won't know which way it was, because you don't know what is already built.

I other word there might be plenty of cases where you would get FileNotFoundException meaning "Could not create your file", but you would not be able to find the reason of why the file creation failed.

A solution is to remove any call to the File API and use the Files API instead as it provides much better error handling. Typically replace any new FileOutputStream(f) with Files.newOutputStream(p).

In cases where you do need to use the File API (because you use an external interface using File for example), using Files.createFile(p) is a good way to make sure your file is created properly and if not you would know why it didn't work. Some people commented above that this is redundant. It is true, but you get better error handling which might be necessary in some cases.

The most common reason for this message seems to be unzipping the eclipse zip file wrongly (for instance unzipping without recreating the directory structure). Therefore please unzip the zipped Eclipse again with a good unzip tool (like 7-zip) and make sure that the necessary sub directories are created during the extraction.

Also make sure that the path to the unzipped Eclipse does not get very long. I've seen cases where Eclipse was unzipped into a deeply nested directory structure (to put it at some place into an SVN repository) and that led to the same error message.

If that still doesn't work, you may try launching eclipse.exe with administrative rights. That should not really be necessary, but maybe your access rights are somehow broken after the re-installation of Windows.

DISCUSSION

The answers discussing kill and race conditions are exactly right if the body of the test is a "kill". I came looking for the general "how do you test for a PID existence in bash".

To help you with your problem I found this blog which talks about making laravel production optimized. Most of what you need to do to make your app fast would now be in the hands of how efficient your code is, your network capacity, CDN, caching, database.

Now I will talk about the issue:

Laravel is slow out of the box. There are ways to optimize it. You also have the option of using caching in your code, improving your server machine, yadda yadda yadda. But in the end Laravel is still slow.

Laravel uses a lot of symfony libraries and as you can see in techempower's benchmarks, symfony ranks very low (last to say the least). You can even find the laravel benchmark to be almost at the bottom.

A lot of auto-loading is happening in the background, things you might not even need gets loaded. So technically because laravel is easy to use, it helps you build apps fast, it also makes it slow.

But I am not saying Laravel is bad, it is great, great at a lot of things. But if you expect a high surge of traffic you will need a lot more hardware just to handle the requests. It would cost you a lot more. But if you are filthy rich then you can achieve anything with Laravel. :D

The usual trade-off:

 Easy = Slow, Hard = Fast

I would consider C or Java to have a hard learning curve and a hard maintainability but it ranks very high in web frameworks.

PDFJet offers an open-source version of their library that should be able to handle any basic PDF generation task. It's a purely Java-based solution and it is stated to be compatible with Android. There is a commercial version with some additional features that does not appear to be too expensive.

The following takes any valid datetime value and returns the number of days in the associated month... it eliminates the ambiguity of both other answers...

This problem was solved by following steps -

1. Go to the local m2 repository and find the directory org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-surefire-plugin.
2. Delete the problematic version.
3. maven update the project, then download it again.

You have empty $_POST. If your web-server wants see data in json-format you need to read the raw input and then parse it with JSON decode.

You need something like that:

Also on your web-service page you should remove one of the lines header('Content-type: application/json');. It must be called only once.

If you are using python elasticsearch5 module or curl:

1. make sure each document that gets inserted has
   • a timestamp field that is type datetime
   • and you are monotonically increasing the timestamp value for each document

2. from python you do

There's no need to start idle transactions on the master. In postgresql-9.1 the most direct way to solve this problem is by setting

hot_standby_feedback = on

This will make the master aware of long-running queries. From the docs:

The first option is to set the parameter hot_standby_feedback, which prevents VACUUM from removing recently-dead rows and so cleanup conflicts do not occur.

Why isn't this the default? This parameter was added after the initial implementation and it's the only way that a standby can affect a master.

I've solved this problem by configuring MySQL.

Some advantages to the second option:

1. You can use this inside onclick to reference the anchor itself (doing the same in option 1 will give you window instead).

2. You can set the href to a non-JS compatible URL to support older browsers (or those that have JS disabled); browsers that support JavaScript will execute the function instead (to stay on the page you have to use onclick="return someFunction();" and return false from inside the function or onclick="return someFunction(); return false;" to prevent default action).

3. I've seen weird stuff happen when using href="javascript:someFunction()" and the function returns a value; the whole page would get replaced by just that value.

Pitfalls

Inline code:

1. Runs in document scope as opposed to code defined inside <script> tags which runs in window scope; therefore, symbols may be resolved based on an element's name or id attribute, causing the unintended effect of attempting to treat an element as a function.

2. Is harder to reuse; delicate copy-paste is required to move it from one project to another.

3. Adds weight to your pages, whereas external code files can be cached by the browser.

Write the src tag for calling the js file as
