Programs & Examples On #Ixmlserializable

Provides custom formatting for XML serialization and deserialization.

XML Serialize generic list of serializable objects

The easiest way to do it, that I have found.. Apply the System.Xml.Serialization.XmlArray attribute to it.

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlArray] //This is the part that makes it work
List<object> serializableList = new List<object>();

XmlSerializer xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(serializableList.GetType());

serializableList.Add(PersonList);

using (StreamWriter streamWriter = System.IO.File.CreateText(fileName))
{
    xmlSerializer.Serialize(streamWriter, serializableList);
}

The serializer will pick up on it being an array and serialize the list's items as child nodes.

RuntimeError on windows trying python multiprocessing

In my case it was a simple bug in the code, using a variable before it was created. Worth checking that out before trying the above solutions. Why I got this particular error message, Lord knows.

Reset CSS display property to default value

No, it is generally not possible. Once some CSS (or HTML) code sets a value for a property on an element, there is no way to undo it and tell the browser to use its default value.

It is of course possible to set a property a value that you expect to be the default value. This may work rather widely if you check the Rendering section of HTML5 CR, mostly reflecting what browsers actually do.

Still, the answer is “No”, because browsers may have whatever default values they like. You should analyze what was the reason for wanting to reset to defaults; the original problem may still be solvable.

How to bind bootstrap popover on dynamic elements

Try this HTML

<a href="#" data-toggle="popover" data-popover-target="#popover-content-1">Do Popover 1</a>
<a href="#" data-toggle="popover" data-popover-target="#popover-content-2">Do Popover</a>

<div id="popover-content-1" style="display: none">Content 1</div>
<div id="popover-content-2" style="display: none">Content 2</div>

jQuery:

$(function() {
  $('[data-toggle="popover"]').each(function(i, obj) {
    var popover_target = $(this).data('popover-target');
    $(this).popover({
        html: true,
        trigger: 'focus',
        placement: 'right',
        content: function(obj) {
            return $(popover_target).html();
        }
    });
  });
});

nodeJs callbacks simple example

var myCallback = function(data) {
  console.log('got data: '+data);
};

var usingItNow = function(callback) {
  callback('get it?');
};

Now open node or browser console and paste the above definitions.

Finally use it with this next line:

usingItNow(myCallback);

With Respect to the Node-Style Error Conventions

Costa asked what this would look like if we were to honor the node error callback conventions.

In this convention, the callback should expect to receive at least one argument, the first argument, as an error. Optionally we will have one or more additional arguments, depending on the context. In this case, the context is our above example.

Here I rewrite our example in this convention.

var myCallback = function(err, data) {
  if (err) throw err; // Check for the error and throw if it exists.
  console.log('got data: '+data); // Otherwise proceed as usual.
};

var usingItNow = function(callback) {
  callback(null, 'get it?'); // I dont want to throw an error, so I pass null for the error argument
};

If we want to simulate an error case, we can define usingItNow like this

var usingItNow = function(callback) {
  var myError = new Error('My custom error!');
  callback(myError, 'get it?'); // I send my error as the first argument.
};

The final usage is exactly the same as in above:

usingItNow(myCallback);

The only difference in behavior would be contingent on which version of usingItNow you've defined: the one that feeds a "truthy value" (an Error object) to the callback for the first argument, or the one that feeds it null for the error argument.

How to populate/instantiate a C# array with a single value?

How to make readonly all inputs in some div in Angular2?

You can do like this. Open a ts file ad there make an interface with inputs you want and in the page you want to show under export class write

readonly yourinterface = yourinterface
readonly level: number[] = [];

and in your template do like this *ngFor="let yourtype of yourinterface"

Vbscript list all PDF files in folder and subfolders

(For those who stumble upon this from your search engine of choice)

This just recursively traces down the folder, so you don't need to duplicate your code twice. Also the OPs logic is needlessly complex.

Wscript.Echo "begin."
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set objSuperFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(WScript.Arguments(0))
Call ShowSubfolders (objSuperFolder)

Wscript.Echo "end."

WScript.Quit 0

Sub ShowSubFolders(fFolder)
    Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(fFolder.Path)
    Set colFiles = objFolder.Files
    For Each objFile in colFiles
        If UCase(objFSO.GetExtensionName(objFile.name)) = "PDF" Then
            Wscript.Echo objFile.Name
        End If
    Next

    For Each Subfolder in fFolder.SubFolders
        ShowSubFolders(Subfolder)
    Next
End Sub

Outputting data from unit test in Python

I think I might have been overthinking this. One way I've come up with that does the job, is simply to have a global variable, that accumulates the diagnostic data.

Somthing like this:

log1 = dict()
class TestBar(unittest.TestCase):
    def runTest(self):
        for t1, t2 in testdata:
            f = Foo(t1)
            if f.bar(t2) != 2:
                log1("TestBar.runTest") = (f, t1, t2)
                self.fail("f.bar(t2) != 2")

Thanks for the replies. They have given me some alternative ideas for how to record information from unit tests in python.

How do I get milliseconds from epoch (1970-01-01) in Java?

java.time

Using the java.time framework built into Java 8 and later.

import java.time.Instant;

Instant.now().toEpochMilli(); //Long = 1450879900184
Instant.now().getEpochSecond(); //Long = 1450879900

This works in UTC because Instant.now() is really call to Clock.systemUTC().instant()

Boolean vs tinyint(1) for boolean values in MySQL

My experience when using Dapper to connect to MySQL is that it does matter. I changed a non nullable bit(1) to a nullable tinyint(1) by using the following script:

ALTER TABLE TableName MODIFY Setting BOOLEAN null;

Then Dapper started throwing Exceptions. I tried to look at the difference before and after the script. And noticed the bit(1) had changed to tinyint(1).

I then ran:

ALTER TABLE TableName CHANGE COLUMN Setting Setting BIT(1) NULL DEFAULT NULL;

Which solved the problem.

Do HTTP POST methods send data as a QueryString?

The best way to visualize this is to use a packet analyzer like Wireshark and follow the TCP stream. HTTP simply uses TCP to send a stream of data starting with a few lines of HTTP headers. Often this data is easy to read because it consists of HTML, CSS, or XML, but it can be any type of data that gets transfered over the internet (Executables, Images, Video, etc).

For a GET request, your computer requests a specific URL and the web server usually responds with a 200 status code and the the content of the webpage is sent directly after the HTTP response headers. This content is the same content you would see if you viewed the source of the webpage in your browser. The query string you mentioned is just part of the URL and gets included in the HTTP GET request header that your computer sends to the web server. Below is an example of an HTTP GET request to http://accel91.citrix.com:8000/OA_HTML/OALogout.jsp?menu=Y, followed by a 302 redirect response from the server. Some of the HTTP Headers are wrapped due to the size of the viewing window (these really only take one line each), and the 302 redirect includes a simple HTML webpage with a link to the redirected webpage (Most browsers will automatically redirect any 302 response to the URL listed in the Location header instead of displaying the HTML response):

HTTP GET with 302 redirect

For a POST request, you may still have a query string, but this is uncommon and does not have anything to do with the data that you are POSTing. Instead, the data is included directly after the HTTP headers that your browser sends to the server, similar to the 200 response that the web server uses to respond to a GET request. In the case of POSTing a simple web form this data is encoded using the same URL encoding that a query string uses, but if you are using a SOAP web service it could also be encoded using a multi-part MIME format and XML data.

For example here is what an HTTP POST to an XML based SOAP web service located at http://192.168.24.23:8090/msh looks like in Wireshark Follow TCP Stream:

HTTP POST TCP Stream

How to click an element in Selenium WebDriver using JavaScript

Executing a click via JavaScript has some behaviors of which you should be aware. If for example, the code bound to the onclick event of your element invokes window.alert(), you may find your Selenium code hanging, depending on the implementation of the browser driver. That said, you can use the JavascriptExecutor class to do this. My solution differs from others proposed, however, in that you can still use the WebDriver methods for locating the elements.

// Assume driver is a valid WebDriver instance that
// has been properly instantiated elsewhere.
WebElement element = driver.findElement(By.id("gbqfd"));
JavascriptExecutor executor = (JavascriptExecutor)driver;
executor.executeScript("arguments[0].click();", element);

You should also note that you might be better off using the click() method of the WebElement interface, but disabling native events before instantiating your driver. This would accomplish the same goal (with the same potential limitations), but not force you to write and maintain your own JavaScript.

MySQL - UPDATE multiple rows with different values in one query

I did it this way:

<update id="updateSettings" parameterType="PushSettings">
    <foreach collection="settings" item="setting">
        UPDATE push_setting SET status = #{setting.status}
        WHERE type = #{setting.type} AND user_id = #{userId};
    </foreach>
</update>

where PushSettings is

public class PushSettings {

    private List<PushSetting> settings;
    private String userId;
}

it works fine

Converting a string to a date in a cell

I was struggling with this for some time and after some help on a post I was able to come up with this formula =(DATEVALUE(LEFT(XX,10)))+(TIMEVALUE(MID(XX,12,5))) where XX is the cell in reference.

I've come across many other forums with people asking the same thing and this, to me, seems to be the simplest answer. What this will do is return text that is copied in from this format 2014/11/20 11:53 EST and turn it in to a Date/Time format so it can be sorted oldest to newest. It works with short date/long date and if you want the time just format the cell to display time and it will show. Hope this helps anyone who goes searching around like I did.

C: socket connection timeout

On Linux you can also use:

struct timeval timeout;
timeout.tv_sec  = 7;  // after 7 seconds connect() will timeout
timeout.tv_usec = 0;
setsockopt(fd, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDTIMEO, &timeout, sizeof(timeout));
connect(...)

Don't forget to clear SO_SNDTIMEO after connect() if you don't need it.

PHP Convert String into Float/Double

Surprisingly there is no accepted answer. The issue only exists in 32-bit PHP.

From the documentation,

If the string does not contain any of the characters '.', 'e', or 'E' and the numeric value fits into integer type limits (as defined by PHP_INT_MAX), the string will be evaluated as an integer. In all other cases it will be evaluated as a float.

In other words, the $string is first interpreted as INT, which cause overflow (The $string value 2968789218 exceeds the maximum value (PHP_INT_MAX) of 32-bit PHP, which is 2147483647.), then evaluated to float by (float) or floatval().

Thus, the solution is:

$string = "2968789218";
echo 'Original: ' . floatval($string) . PHP_EOL;
$string.= ".0";
$float = floatval($string);
echo 'Corrected: ' . $float . PHP_EOL;

which outputs:

Original: 2.00
Corrected: 2968789218

To check whether your PHP is 32-bit or 64-bit, you can:

echo PHP_INT_MAX;

If your PHP is 64-bit, it will print out 9223372036854775807, otherwise it will print out 2147483647.

What and When to use Tuple?

A tuple allows you to combine multiple values of possibly different types into a single object without having to create a custom class. This can be useful if you want to write a method that for example returns three related values but you don't want to create a new class.

Usually though you should create a class as this allows you to give useful names to each property. Code that extensively uses tuples will quickly become unreadable because the properties are called Item1, Item2, Item3, etc..

ComboBox SelectedItem vs SelectedValue

If you want Selected.Value being worked you have to do following things:

1. Set DisplayMember
2. Set ValueMember
3. Set DataSource (not use Items.Add, Items.AddRange, DataBinding etc.)

The key point is Set DataSource!

Two-dimensional array in Swift

Before using multidimensional arrays in Swift, consider their impact on performance. In my tests, the flattened array performed almost 2x better than the 2D version:

var table = [Int](repeating: 0, count: size * size)
let array = [Int](1...size)
for row in 0..<size {
    for column in 0..<size {
        let val = array[row] * array[column]
        // assign
        table[row * size + column] = val
    }
}

Average execution time for filling up a 50x50 Array: 82.9ms

vs.

var table = [[Int]](repeating: [Int](repeating: 0, count: size), count: size)
let array = [Int](1...size)
for row in 0..<size {
    for column in 0..<size {
        // assign
        table[row][column] = val
    }
}

Average execution time for filling up a 50x50 2D Array: 135ms

Both algorithms are O(n^2), so the difference in execution times is caused by the way we initialize the table.

Finally, the worst you can do is using append() to add new elements. That proved to be the slowest in my tests:

var table = [Int]()
let array = [Int](1...size)
for row in 0..<size {
    for column in 0..<size {
        table.append(val)
    }
}

Average execution time for filling up a 50x50 Array using append(): 2.59s

Conclusion

Avoid multidimensional arrays and use access by index if execution speed matters. 1D arrays are more performant, but your code might be a bit harder to understand.

You can run the performance tests yourself after downloading the demo project from my GitHub repo: https://github.com/nyisztor/swift-algorithms/tree/master/big-o-src/Big-O.playground

javascript: get a function's variable's value within another function

Your nameContent scope is only inside first function. You'll never get it's value that way.

}

function second() {
    first();
    y=nameContent;

How can I get the name of an object in Python?

You define a class and add the Unicode private function insert the class like

class example:
  def __init__(self, name):
    self.name = name

  def __unicode__(self):
    return self.name

Of course you have to add extra variable self.name which is the name of the object.

    <a class="glyphicon glyphicon-remove-sign form-control-feedback form-control-clear" ng-click="ctrl.clearSearch()" style="pointer-events: auto; text-decoration: none;cursor: pointer;"></a>
</div>

As I don't use bootstrap's JavaScript, just the CSS together with Angular, I don't need the classes has-clear and form-control-clear, and I implemented the clear function in my AngularJS controller. With bootstrap's JavaScript this might be possible without own JavaScript.

how to save and read array of array in NSUserdefaults in swift?

Here is an example of reading and writing a list of objects of type SNStock that implements NSCoding - we have an accessor for the entire list, watchlist, and two methods to add and remove objects, that is addStock(stock: SNStock) and removeStock(stock: SNStock).

import Foundation

class DWWatchlistController {

  private let kNSUserDefaultsWatchlistKey: String = "dw_watchlist_key"

  private let userDefaults: NSUserDefaults

  private(set) var watchlist:[SNStock] {

    get {
      if let watchlistData : AnyObject = userDefaults.objectForKey(kNSUserDefaultsWatchlistKey) {
        if let watchlist : AnyObject = NSKeyedUnarchiver.unarchiveObjectWithData(watchlistData as! NSData) {
          return watchlist as! [SNStock]
        }
      }
      return []
    }

    set(watchlist) {
      let watchlistData = NSKeyedArchiver.archivedDataWithRootObject(watchlist)
      userDefaults.setObject(watchlistData, forKey: kNSUserDefaultsWatchlistKey)
      userDefaults.synchronize()
    }
  }

  init() {
    userDefaults = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
  }

  func addStock(stock: SNStock) {
    var watchlist = self.watchlist
    watchlist.append(stock)
    self.watchlist = watchlist
  }

  func removeStock(stock: SNStock) {
    var watchlist = self.watchlist
    if let index = find(watchlist, stock) {
      watchlist.removeAtIndex(index)
      self.watchlist = watchlist
    }
  }

}

Remember that your object needs to implement NSCoding or else the encoding won't work. Here is what SNStock looks like:

import Foundation

class SNStock: NSObject, NSCoding
{
  let ticker: NSString
  let name: NSString

  init(ticker: NSString, name: NSString)
  {
    self.ticker = ticker
    self.name = name
  }

  //MARK: NSCoding

  required init(coder aDecoder: NSCoder) {
    self.ticker = aDecoder.decodeObjectForKey("ticker") as! NSString
    self.name = aDecoder.decodeObjectForKey("name") as! NSString
  }

  func encodeWithCoder(aCoder: NSCoder) {
    aCoder.encodeObject(ticker, forKey: "ticker")
    aCoder.encodeObject(name, forKey: "name")
  }

  //MARK: NSObjectProtocol

  override func isEqual(object: AnyObject?) -> Bool {
    if let object = object as? SNStock {
      return self.ticker == object.ticker &&
        self.name == object.name
    } else {
      return false
    }
  }

  override var hash: Int {
    return ticker.hashValue
  }
}

Hope this helps!

Why is my method undefined for the type object?

The line

Object EchoServer0;

says that you are allocating an Object named EchoServer0. This has nothing to do with the class EchoServer0. Furthermore, the object is not initialized, so EchoServer0 is null. Classes and identifiers have separate namespaces. This will actually compile:

String String = "abc"; // My use of String String was deliberate.

Please keep to the Java naming standards: classes begin with a capital letter, identifiers begin with a small letter, constants and enums are all-capitals.

public final String ME = "Eric Jablow";
public final double GAMMA = 0.5772;
public enum Color { RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET}
public COLOR background = Color.RED;

How to update value of a key in dictionary in c#?

Try this simple function to add an dictionary item if it does not exist or update when it exists:

    public void AddOrUpdateDictionaryEntry(string key, int value)
    {
        if (dict.ContainsKey(key))
        {
            dict[key] = value;
        }
        else
        {
            dict.Add(key, value);
        }
    }

This is the same as dict[key] = value.

SHA1 vs md5 vs SHA256: which to use for a PHP login?

Everyone is talking about this like they can be hacked over the internet. As already stated, limiting attempts makes it impossible to crack a password over the Internet and has nothing to do with the hash.

The salt is a must, but the complexity or multiple salts doesn't even matter. Any salt alone stops the attacker from using a premade rainbow table. A unique salt per user stops the attacker from creating a new rainbow table to use against your entire user base.

The security really comes into play when the entire database is compromised and a hacker can then perform 100 million password attempts per second against the md5 hash. SHA512 is about 10,000 times slower. A complex password with today's power could still take 100 years to bruteforce with md5 and would take 10,000 times as long with SHA512. The salts don't stop a bruteforce at all as they always have to be known, which if the attacker downloaded your database, he probably was in your system anyway.

Java, return if trimmed String in List contains String

You can use your own code. You don't need to use the looping structure, if you don't want to use the looping structure as you said above. Only you have to focus to remove space or trim the String of the list.

If you are using java8 you can simply trim the String using the single line of the code:

myList = myList.stream().map(String :: trim).collect(Collectors.toList());

The importance of the above line is, in the future, you can use a List or set as well. Now you can use your own code:

if(myList.contains("A")){
    //true
}else{
    // false
}

XSL if: test with multiple test conditions

Thanks to @IanRoberts, I had to use the normalize-space function on my nodes to check if they were empty.

  This worked perfectly fine.

How to get DATE from DATETIME Column in SQL?

Try this:

SELECT SUM(transaction_amount) FROM TransactionMaster WHERE Card_No ='123' AND CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),GETDATE(),111)

The GETDATE() function returns the current date and time from the SQL Server.

Simple argparse example wanted: 1 argument, 3 results

Note the Argparse Tutorial in Python HOWTOs. It starts from most basic examples, like this one:

import argparse
parser = argparse.ArgumentParser()
parser.add_argument("square", type=int,
                    help="display a square of a given number")
args = parser.parse_args()
print(args.square**2)

and progresses to less basic ones.

There is an example with predefined choice for an option, like what is asked:

import argparse
parser = argparse.ArgumentParser()
parser.add_argument("square", type=int,
                    help="display a square of a given number")
parser.add_argument("-v", "--verbosity", type=int, choices=[0, 1, 2],
                    help="increase output verbosity")
args = parser.parse_args()
answer = args.square**2
if args.verbosity == 2:
    print("the square of {} equals {}".format(args.square, answer))
elif args.verbosity == 1:
    print("{}^2 == {}".format(args.square, answer))
else:
    print(answer)

How to use ng-repeat without an html element

You might want to flatten the data within your controller:

function MyCtrl ($scope) {
  $scope.myData = [[1,2,3], [4,5,6], [7,8,9]];
  $scope.flattened = function () {
    var flat = [];
    $scope.myData.forEach(function (item) {
      flat.concat(item);
    }
    return flat;
  }
}

And then in the HTML:

<table>
  <tbody>
    <tr ng-repeat="item in flattened()"><td>{{item}}</td></tr>
  </tbody>
</table>

WPF Datagrid set selected row

You don't need to iterate through the DataGrid rows, you can achieve your goal with a more simple solution. In order to match your row you can iterate through you collection that was bound to your DataGrid.ItemsSource property then assign this item to you DataGrid.SelectedItem property programmatically, alternatively you can add it to your DataGrid.SelectedItems collection if you want to allow the user to select more than one row. See the code below:

<Window x:Class="ProgGridSelection.MainWindow"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525" Loaded="OnWindowLoaded">
<StackPanel>
    <DataGrid Name="empDataGrid" ItemsSource="{Binding}" Height="200"/>
    <TextBox Name="empNameTextBox"/>
    <Button Content="Click" Click="OnSelectionButtonClick" />
</StackPanel>

public partial class MainWindow : Window
{
    public class Employee
    {
        public string Code { get; set; }
        public string Name { get; set; }
    }

    private ObservableCollection<Employee> _empCollection;

    public MainWindow()
    {
        InitializeComponent();
    }

    private void OnWindowLoaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    {
        // Generate test data
        _empCollection =
            new ObservableCollection<Employee>
                {
                    new Employee {Code = "E001", Name = "Mohammed A. Fadil"},
                    new Employee {Code = "E013", Name = "Ahmed Yousif"},
                    new Employee {Code = "E431", Name = "Jasmin Kamal"},
                };

        /* Set the Window.DataContext, alternatively you can set your
         * DataGrid DataContext property to the employees collection.
         * on the other hand, you you have to bind your DataGrid
         * DataContext property to the DataContext (see the XAML code)
         */
        DataContext = _empCollection;
    }

    private void OnSelectionButtonClick(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    {
        /* select the employee that his name matches the
         * name on the TextBox
         */
        var emp = (from i in _empCollection
                   where i.Name == empNameTextBox.Text.Trim()
                   select i).FirstOrDefault();

        /* Now, to set the selected item on the DataGrid you just need
         * assign the matched employee to your DataGrid SeletedItem
         * property, alternatively you can add it to your DataGrid
         * SelectedItems collection if you want to allow the user
         * to select more than one row, e.g.:
         *    empDataGrid.SelectedItems.Add(emp);
         */
        if (emp != null)
            empDataGrid.SelectedItem = emp;
    }

Why do package names often begin with "com"

It's the domain name spelt out in reverse.

For example, one of my domains is hedgee.com. So, I use com.hedgee as the base name of all my packages.

Is there a way to programmatically scroll a scroll view to a specific edit text?

In my case, that's not EditText, that's googleMap. And it works successfully like this.

    private final void focusCenterOnView(final ScrollView scroll, final View view) {
    new Handler().post(new Runnable() {
        @Override
        public void run() {
            int centreX=(int) (view.getX() + view.getWidth()  / 2);
            int centreY= (int) (view.getY() + view.getHeight() / 2);
            scrollView.smoothScrollBy(centreX, centreY);
        }
    });
}

versionCode vs versionName in Android Manifest

versionCode

A positive integer used as an internal version number. This number is used only to determine whether one version is more recent than another, with higher numbers indicating more recent versions. This is not the version number shown to users; that number is set by the versionName setting, below. The Android system uses the versionCode value to protect against downgrades by preventing users from installing an APK with a lower versionCode than the version currently installed on their device.

The value is a positive integer so that other apps can programmatically evaluate it, for example to check an upgrade or downgrade relationship. You can set the value to any positive integer you want, however you should make sure that each successive release of your app uses a greater value. You cannot upload an APK to the Play Store with a versionCode you have already used for a previous version.

versionName

A string used as the version number shown to users. This setting can be specified as a raw string or as a reference to a string resource.

The value is a string so that you can describe the app version as a .. string, or as any other type of absolute or relative version identifier. The versionName has no purpose other than to be displayed to users.

CSS image resize percentage of itself?

I have 2 methods for you.

Method 1. demo on jsFiddle

This method resize image only visual not it actual dimensions in DOM, and visual state after resize centered in middle of original size.

html:

<img class="fake" src="example.png" />

css:

img {
  -webkit-transform: scale(0.5); /* Saf3.1+, Chrome */
     -moz-transform: scale(0.5); /* FF3.5+ */
      -ms-transform: scale(0.5); /* IE9 */
       -o-transform: scale(0.5); /* Opera 10.5+ */
          transform: scale(0.5);
             /* IE6–IE9 */
             filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(M11=0.9999619230641713, M12=-0.008726535498373935, M21=0.008726535498373935, M22=0.9999619230641713,SizingMethod='auto expand');
}?

Browser support note: browsers statistics showed inline in css.

Method 2. demo on jsFiddle

html:

<div id="wrap">
    <img class="fake" src="example.png" />
    <div id="img_wrap">
        <img class="normal" src="example.png" />
    </div>
</div>?

css:

#wrap {
    overflow: hidden;
    position: relative;
    float: left;
}

#wrap img.fake {
    float: left;
    visibility: hidden;
    width: auto;
}

#img_wrap {
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
    right: 0;
    bottom: 0;
    left: 0;
}

#img_wrap img.normal {
    width: 50%;
}?

Note: img.normal and img.fake is the same image.
Browser support note: This method will work in all browsers, because all browsers support css properties used in method.

The method works in this way:

  1. #wrap and #wrap img.fake have flow
  2. #wrap has overflow: hidden so that its dimensions are identical to inner image (img.fake)
  3. img.fake is the only element inside #wrap without absolute positioning so that it doesn't break the second step
  4. #img_wrap has absolute positioning inside #wrap and extends in size to the entire element (#wrap)
  5. The result of the fourth step is that #img_wrap has the same dimensions as the image.
  6. By setting width: 50% on img.normal, its size is 50% of #img_wrap, and therefore 50% of the original image size.

What's the difference setting Embed Interop Types true and false in Visual Studio?

I noticed that when it's set to false, I'm able to see the value of an item using the debugger. When it was set to true, I was getting an error - item.FullName.GetValue The embedded interop type 'FullName' does not contain a definition for 'QBFC11Lib.IItemInventoryRet' since it was not used in the compiled assembly. Consider casting to object or changing the 'Embed Interop Types' property to true.

filtering NSArray into a new NSArray in Objective-C

Assuming that your objects are all of a similar type you could add a method as a category of their base class that calls the function you're using for your criteria. Then create an NSPredicate object that refers to that method.

In some category define your method that uses your function

@implementation BaseClass (SomeCategory)
- (BOOL)myMethod {
    return someComparisonFunction(self, whatever);
}
@end

Then wherever you'll be filtering:

- (NSArray *)myFilteredObjects {
    NSPredicate *pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"myMethod = TRUE"];
    return [myArray filteredArrayUsingPredicate:pred];
}

Of course, if your function only compares against properties reachable from within your class it may just be easier to convert the function's conditions to a predicate string.

Failed to run sdkmanager --list with Java 9

The only working solution for me is to use the java shipped with the Android studio.

set the JAVA_HOME to /Applications/Android\ Studio.app/Contents/jre/jdk/Contents/Home

in .bashrc

set JAVA_HOME="/Applications/Android\ Studio.app/Contents/jre/jdk/Contents/Home"

If you are using fish shel, put this in ~/.config/fish/config.fish

set -gx JAVA_HOME /Applications/Android\ Studio.app/Contents/jre/jdk/Contents/Home

(This is for mac, but I am sure it should work with linux and windows by setting the correct path)

Python Math - TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not subscriptable

lista = list.sort(lista)

This should be

lista.sort()

The .sort() method is in-place, and returns None. If you want something not in-place, which returns a value, you could use

sorted_list = sorted(lista)

Aside #1: please don't call your lists list. That clobbers the builtin list type.

Aside #2: I'm not sure what this line is meant to do:

print str("value 1a")+str(" + ")+str("value 2")+str(" = ")+str("value 3a ")+str("value 4")+str("\n")

is it simply

print "value 1a + value 2 = value 3a value 4"

? In other words, I don't know why you're calling str on things which are already str.

Aside #3: sometimes you use print("something") (Python 3 syntax) and sometimes you use print "something" (Python 2). The latter would give you a SyntaxError in py3, so you must be running 2.*, in which case you probably don't want to get in the habit or you'll wind up printing tuples, with extra parentheses. I admit that it'll work well enough here, because if there's only one element in the parentheses it's not interpreted as a tuple, but it looks strange to the pythonic eye..

The exception TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not subscriptable happens because the value of lista is actually None. You can reproduce TypeError that you get in your code if you try this at the Python command line:

None[0]

The reason that lista gets set to None is because the return value of list.sort() is None... it does not return a sorted copy of the original list. Instead, as the documentation points out, the list gets sorted in-place instead of a copy being made (this is for efficiency reasons).

If you do not want to alter the original version you can use

other_list = sorted(lista)

What is the difference among col-lg-*, col-md-* and col-sm-* in Bootstrap?

well it's used to tell bootstrap how many columns are to be placed in a row depending on the screen size-

col-xs-2

would show only 2 columns in a row in extra small(xs) screen, in the same way as sm defines a small screen, md(medium sized), lg(large sized), but according to bootstrap smaller first rule, if you mention

xs-col-2 md-col-4

then 2 columns would be shown in every row for screen sizes from xs upto sm(included) and changes when it gets next size i.e. for md up to lg(included) for a better understanding of screen sizes try running them in various screen modes in chrome's developer mode(ctr+shift+i) and try various pixels or devices

JavaScript: Create and save file

You cannot do this purely in Javascript. Javascript running on browsers does not have enough permission yet (there have been proposals) due to security reasons.

Instead, I would recommend using Downloadify:

A tiny javascript + Flash library that enables the creation and download of text files without server interaction.

You can see a simple demo here where you supply the content and can test out saving/cancelling/error handling functionality.

Java regex to extract text between tags

To be quite honest, regular expressions are not the best idea for this type of parsing. The regular expression you posted will probably work great for simple cases, but if things get more complex you are going to have huge problems (same reason why you cant reliably parse HTML with regular expressions). I know you probably don't want to hear this, I know I didn't when I asked the same type of questions, but string parsing became WAY more reliable for me after I stopped trying to use regular expressions for everything.

jTopas is an AWESOME tokenizer that makes it quite easy to write parsers by hand (I STRONGLY suggest jtopas over the standard java scanner/etc.. libraries). If you want to see jtopas in action, here are some parsers I wrote using jTopas to parse this type of file

If you are parsing XML files, you should be using an xml parser library. Dont do it youself unless you are just doing it for fun, there are plently of proven options out there

Any way to select without causing locking in MySQL?

Found an article titled "MYSQL WITH NOLOCK"

https://web.archive.org/web/20100814144042/http://sqldba.org/articles/22-mysql-with-nolock.aspx

in MS SQL Server you would do the following:

SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME WITH (nolock)

and the MYSQL equivalent is

SET SESSION TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED ;
SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME ;
SET SESSION TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL REPEATABLE READ ;

EDIT

Michael Mior suggested the following (from the comments)

SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED ;
SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME ;

bad_words = ['doc:', 'strickland:','\n']

with open('linetest.txt') as oldfile, open('linetestnew.txt', 'w') as newfile:
    for line in oldfile:
        if not any(bad_word in line for bad_word in bad_words):
            newfile.write(line)

The \n is a Unicode escape sequence for a newline.

Taking multiple inputs from user in python

# the more input you want to add variable accordingly
x,y,z=input("enter the numbers: ").split( )
#for printing
print("value of x: ",x)
print("value of y: ",y)
print("value of z: ",z)

#for multiple inputs
#using list, map
#split seperates values by ( )single space in this case

x=list(map(int,input("enter the numbers: ").split( )))

#we will get list of our desired elements

print("print list: ",x)

hope you got your answer :)

how to fix groovy.lang.MissingMethodException: No signature of method:

Because you are passing three arguments to a four arguments method. Also, you are not using the passed closure.

If you want to specify the operations to be made on top of the source contents, then use a closure. It would be something like this:

def copyAndReplaceText(source, dest, closure){
    dest.write(closure( source.text ))
}

// And you can keep your usage as:
copyAndReplaceText(source, dest){
    it.replaceAll('Visa', 'Passport!!!!')
}

If you will always swap strings, pass both, as your method signature already states:

def copyAndReplaceText(source, dest, targetText, replaceText){
    dest.write(source.text.replaceAll(targetText, replaceText))
}

copyAndReplaceText(source, dest, 'Visa', 'Passport!!!!')

How to install mcrypt extension in xampp

The recent versions of XAMPP for Windows runs PHP 7.x which are NOT compatible with mbcrypt. If you have a package like Laravel that requires mbcrypt, you will need to install an older version of XAMPP. OR, you can run XAMPP with multiple versions of PHP by downloading a PHP package from Windows.PHP.net, installing it in your XAMPP folder, and configuring php.ini and httpd.conf to use the correct version of PHP for your site.

Variables within app.config/web.config

I thought I just saw this question.

In short, no, there's no variable interpolation within an application configuration.

You have two options

  1. You could roll your own to substitute variables at runtime
  2. At build time, massage the application configuration to the particular specifics of the target deployment environment. Some details on this at dealing with the configuration-nightmare

What does the question mark operator mean in Ruby?

Also note ? along with a character, will return the ASCII character code for A

For example:

?F # => will return 70

Alternately in ruby 1.8 you can do:

"F"[0]

or in ruby 1.9:

"F".ord

Also notice that ?F will return the string "F", so in order to make the code shorter, you can also use ?F.ord in Ruby 1.9 to get the same result as "F".ord.

How to interpret "loss" and "accuracy" for a machine learning model

The lower the loss, the better a model (unless the model has over-fitted to the training data). The loss is calculated on training and validation and its interperation is how well the model is doing for these two sets. Unlike accuracy, loss is not a percentage. It is a summation of the errors made for each example in training or validation sets.

In the case of neural networks, the loss is usually negative log-likelihood and residual sum of squares for classification and regression respectively. Then naturally, the main objective in a learning model is to reduce (minimize) the loss function's value with respect to the model's parameters by changing the weight vector values through different optimization methods, such as backpropagation in neural networks.

Loss value implies how well or poorly a certain model behaves after each iteration of optimization. Ideally, one would expect the reduction of loss after each, or several, iteration(s).

The accuracy of a model is usually determined after the model parameters are learned and fixed and no learning is taking place. Then the test samples are fed to the model and the number of mistakes (zero-one loss) the model makes are recorded, after comparison to the true targets. Then the percentage of misclassification is calculated.

For example, if the number of test samples is 1000 and model classifies 952 of those correctly, then the model's accuracy is 95.2%.

enter image description here

There are also some subtleties while reducing the loss value. For instance, you may run into the problem of over-fitting in which the model "memorizes" the training examples and becomes kind of ineffective for the test set. Over-fitting also occurs in cases where you do not employ a regularization, you have a very complex model (the number of free parameters W is large) or the number of data points N is very low.

How do I get the function name inside a function in PHP?

How can I read pdf in python?

You can USE PyPDF2 package

#install pyDF2
pip install PyPDF2

# importing all the required modules
import PyPDF2

# creating an object
file = open('example.pdf', 'rb')

# creating a pdf reader object
fileReader = PyPDF2.PdfFileReader(file)

# print the number of pages in pdf file
print(fileReader.numPages)

Print Html template in Angular 2 (ng-print in Angular 2)

Windows applications usually come with build in print capability, but for a web application, I would choose to simply generate a PDF file.

The simplest way that I found is to generate a PDf file using PDFMake (www.pdfmake.org). You can then offer the user the choice to open or download the generated PDF file.

ActiveModel::ForbiddenAttributesError when creating new user

There is an easier way to avoid the Strong Parameters at all, you just need to convert the parameters to a regular hash, as:

unlocked_params = ActiveSupport::HashWithIndifferentAccess.new(params)

model.create!(unlocked_params)

This defeats the purpose of strong parameters of course, but if you are in a situation like mine (I'm doing my own management of allowed params in another part of my system) this will get the job done.

Unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'int' and 'str'

You're trying to concatenate a string and an integer, which is incorrect.

Change print(numlist.pop(2)+" has been removed") to any of these:

Explicit int to str conversion:

print(str(numlist.pop(2)) + " has been removed")

Use , instead of +:

print(numlist.pop(2), "has been removed")

String formatting:

print("{} has been removed".format(numlist.pop(2)))

Correct way to add external jars (lib/*.jar) to an IntelliJ IDEA project

You add them as libraries to your module.

I usually have a /lib directory in my source. I put all the JARs I need there, add /lib as a library, and make it part of my module dependencies.

2018 update: I'm using IntelliJ 2017/2018 now.

I'm fully committed to Maven and Nexus for dependency management.

This is the way the world has gone. Every open source Java project that I know of uses Maven or Gradle. You should, too.

Convert string to a variable name

assign is good, but I have not found a function for referring back to the variable you've created in an automated script. (as.name seems to work the opposite way). More experienced coders will doubtless have a better solution, but this solution works and is slightly humorous perhaps, in that it gets R to write code for itself to execute.

Say I have just assigned value 5 to x (var.name <- "x"; assign(var.name, 5)) and I want to change the value to 6. If I am writing a script and don't know in advance what the variable name (var.name) will be (which seems to be the point of the assign function), I can't simply put x <- 6 because var.name might have been "y". So I do:

var.name <- "x"
#some other code...
assign(var.name, 5)
#some more code...

#write a script file (1 line in this case) that works with whatever variable name
write(paste0(var.name, " <- 6"), "tmp.R")
#source that script file
source("tmp.R")
#remove the script file for tidiness
file.remove("tmp.R")

x will be changed to 6, and if the variable name was anything other than "x", that variable will similarly have been changed to 6.

MSIE and addEventListener Problem in Javascript?

In IE you have to use attachEvent rather than the standard addEventListener.

A common practice is to check if the addEventListener method is available and use it, otherwise use attachEvent:

if (el.addEventListener){
  el.addEventListener('click', modifyText, false);
} else if (el.attachEvent){
  el.attachEvent('onclick', modifyText);
}

You can make a function to do it:

function bindEvent(el, eventName, eventHandler) {
  if (el.addEventListener){
    el.addEventListener(eventName, eventHandler, false);
  } else if (el.attachEvent){
    el.attachEvent('on'+eventName, eventHandler);
  }
}
// ...
bindEvent(document.getElementById('myElement'), 'click', function () {
  alert('element clicked');
});

You can run an example of the above code here.

The third argument of addEventListener is useCapture; if true, it indicates that the user wishes to initiate event capturing.

CSS: Position text in the middle of the page

Try this CSS:

h1 {
    left: 0;
    line-height: 200px;
    margin-top: -100px;
    position: absolute;
    text-align: center;
    top: 50%;
    width: 100%;

Laravel blank white screen

Sometimes in route.php you may have

Route::get('/{id}', 'Controller@show'..

written before

Route::get('/add', 'Controller@add'..

It can be empty method Controller::show() when you begin to develop your controller from scratch. In this case you will get empty blank page when requesting /add url. It happens because the request was handled by /{id} route, and its method returns nothing.

Just try to place /add route before /{id}

console.log showing contents of array object

there are two potential simple solutions to dumping an array as string. Depending on the environment you're using:

…with modern browsers use JSON:

JSON.stringify(filters);
// returns this
"{"dvals":[{"brand":"1","count":"1"},{"brand":"2","count":"2"},{"brand":"3","count":"3"}]}"

…with something like node.js you can use console.info()

console.info(filters);
// will output:
{ dvals:
[ { brand: '1', count: '1' },
  { brand: '2', count: '2' },
  { brand: '3', count: '3' } ] }

Edit:

JSON.stringify comes with two more optional parameters. The third "spaces" parameter enables pretty printing:

JSON.stringify(
                obj, // the object to stringify
                replacer, // a function or array transforming the result
                spaces    // prettyprint indentation spaces
              )

example:

JSON.stringify(filters, null, "  ");
// returns this
"{
 "dvals": [
  {
   "brand": "1",
   "count": "1"
  },
  {
   "brand": "2",
   "count": "2"
  },
  {
   "brand": "3",
   "count": "3"
  }
 ]
}"

Comparing arrays in JUnit assertions, concise built-in way?

I know the question is for JUnit4, but if you happen to be stuck at JUnit3, you could create a short utility function like that:

private void assertArrayEquals(Object[] esperado, Object[] real) {
    assertEquals(Arrays.asList(esperado), Arrays.asList(real));
}

In JUnit3, this is better than directly comparing the arrays, since it will detail exactly which elements are different.

Send an Array with an HTTP Get

I know this post is really old, but I have to reply because although BalusC's answer is marked as correct, it's not completely correct.

You have to write the query adding "[]" to foo like this:

And change the order of that line, bringing index.php to the first position:

DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.cgi index.pl index.xhtml index.htm

How to get the mobile number of current sim card in real device?

I have to make an application which shows the Contact no of the SIM card that is being used in the cell. For that I need to use Telephony Manager class. Can i get details on its usage?

Yes, You have to use Telephony Manager;If at all you not found the contact no. of user; You can get Sim Serial Number of Sim Card and Imei No. of Android Device by using the same Telephony Manager Class...

Add permission:

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE"/>

Import:

import android.telephony.TelephonyManager;

Use the below code:

TelephonyManager tm = (TelephonyManager)getSystemService(Context.TELEPHONY_SERVICE);

         // get IMEI
         imei = tm.getDeviceId();

         // get SimSerialNumber
         simSerialNumber = tm.getSimSerialNumber();

How to make sure you don't get WCF Faulted state exception?

Similar to Ryan Rodemoyer's answer, I found that when the UriTemplate on the Contract is not valid you can get this error. In my case, I was using the same parameter twice. For example:

/Root/{Name}/{Name}

warning: control reaches end of non-void function [-Wreturn-type]

You just need to return from the main function at some point. The error message says that the function is defined to return a value but you are not returning anything.

  /* .... */
  if (Date1 == Date2)
     fprintf (stderr , "Indicating that the first date is equal to second date.\n");

  return 0;
}

Add new row to dataframe, at specific row-index, not appended?

What is the equivalent of the C# 'var' keyword in Java?

Java 10 did get local variable type inference, so now it has var which is pretty much equivalent to the C# one (so far as I am aware).

It can also infer non-denotable types (types which couldn't be named in that place by the programmer; though which types are non-denotable is different). See e.g. Tricks with var and anonymous classes (that you should never use at work).

The one difference I could find is that in C#,

If a type named var is in scope, then the var keyword will resolve to that type name and will not be treated as part of an implicitly typed local variable declaration.

In Java 10 var is not a legal type name.

How to get thread id from a thread pool?

Using Thread.currentThread():

private class MyTask implements Runnable {
    public void run() {
        long threadId = Thread.currentThread().getId();
        logger.debug("Thread # " + threadId + " is doing this task");
    }
}

Throw HttpResponseException or return Request.CreateErrorResponse?

As far as I can tell, whether you throw an exception, or you return Request.CreateErrorResponse, the result is the same. If you look at the source code for System.Web.Http.dll, you will see as much. Take a look at this general summary, and a very similar solution that I have made: Web Api, HttpError, and the behavior of exceptions

T-SQL stored procedure that accepts multiple Id values

Yeah, your current solution is prone to SQL injection attacks.

The best solution that I've found is to use a function that splits text into words (there are a few posted here, or you can use this one from my blog) and then join that to your table. Something like:

SELECT d.[Name]
FROM Department d
    JOIN dbo.SplitWords(@DepartmentIds) w ON w.Value = d.DepartmentId

MySQL "Or" Condition

Wrap your AND logic in parenthesis, like this:

mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Drinks WHERE email='$Email' AND (date='$Date_Today' OR date='$Date_Yesterday' OR date='$Date_TwoDaysAgo' OR date='$Date_ThreeDaysAgo' OR date='$Date_FourDaysAgo' OR date='$Date_FiveDaysAgo' OR date='$Date_SixDaysAgo' OR date='$Date_SevenDaysAgo')");

disable all form elements inside div

For me the accepted answer did not work as I had some asp net hidden fields which got disabled as well so I chose only to disable visible fields

//just to save the list so we can enable fields later
var list = [];
$('#parent-selector').find(':input:visible:not([readonly][disabled]),button').each(function () {
    list.push('#' + this.id);
});

$(list.join(',')).attr('readonly', true);

How to force uninstallation of windows service

You don't have to restart your machine. Start cmd or PowerShell in elevated mode.

sc.exe queryex <SERVICE_NAME>

Then you'll get some info. A PID number will show.

taskkill /pid <SERVICE_PID> /f

Where /f is to force stop.

Now you can install or launch your service.

What is the difference between Left, Right, Outer and Inner Joins?

Simple Example: Let's say you have a Students table, and a Lockers table. In SQL, the first table you specify in a join, Students, is the LEFT table, and the second one, Lockers, is the RIGHT table.

Each student can be assigned to a locker, so there is a LockerNumber column in the Student table. More than one student could potentially be in a single locker, but especially at the beginning of the school year, you may have some incoming students without lockers and some lockers that have no students assigned.

For the sake of this example, let's say you have 100 students, 70 of which have lockers. You have a total of 50 lockers, 40 of which have at least 1 student and 10 lockers have no student.

INNER JOIN is equivalent to "show me all students with lockers".
Any students without lockers, or any lockers without students are missing.
Returns 70 rows

LEFT OUTER JOIN would be "show me all students, with their corresponding locker if they have one".
This might be a general student list, or could be used to identify students with no locker.
Returns 100 rows

RIGHT OUTER JOIN would be "show me all lockers, and the students assigned to them if there are any".
This could be used to identify lockers that have no students assigned, or lockers that have too many students.
Returns 80 rows (list of 70 students in the 40 lockers, plus the 10 lockers with no student)

FULL OUTER JOIN would be silly and probably not much use.
Something like "show me all students and all lockers, and match them up where you can"
Returns 110 rows (all 100 students, including those without lockers. Plus the 10 lockers with no student)

CROSS JOIN is also fairly silly in this scenario.
It doesn't use the linked lockernumber field in the students table, so you basically end up with a big giant list of every possible student-to-locker pairing, whether or not it actually exists.
Returns 5000 rows (100 students x 50 lockers). Could be useful (with filtering) as a starting point to match up the new students with the empty lockers.

Set a form's action attribute when submitting?

HTML5's formaction does not work on old IE browsers. An easy fix, based on some of the responses above, is:

<button onclick="this.form.action='/PropertiesList';"

How to tell if a <script> tag failed to load

I know this is an old thread but I got a nice solution to you (I think). It's copied from an class of mine, that handles all AJAX stuff.

When the script cannot be loaded, it set an error handler but when the error handler is not supported, it falls back to a timer that checks for errors for 15 seconds.

function jsLoader()
{
    var o = this;

    // simple unstopable repeat timer, when t=-1 means endless, when function f() returns true it can be stopped
    o.timer = function(t, i, d, f, fend, b)

        if( t == -1 || t > 0 )
        {
            setTimeout(function() {
                b=(f()) ? 1 : 0;
                o.timer((b) ? 0 : (t>0) ? --t : t, i+((d) ? d : 0), d, f, fend,b );
            }, (b || i < 0) ? 0.1 : i);
        }
        else if(typeof fend == 'function')

HTML5 Pre-resize images before uploading

Resizing images in a canvas element is generally bad idea since it uses the cheapest box interpolation. The resulting image noticeable degrades in quality. I'd recommend using http://nodeca.github.io/pica/demo/ which can perform Lanczos transformation instead. The demo page above shows difference between canvas and Lanczos approaches.

It also uses web workers for resizing images in parallel. There is also WEBGL implementation.

There are some online image resizers that use pica for doing the job, like https://myimageresizer.com

Vuex - Computed property "name" was assigned to but it has no setter

It should be like this.

In your Component

computed: {
        ...mapGetters({
                nameFromStore: 'name'
            }),
        name: {
           get(){
             return this.nameFromStore
           },
           set(newName){
             return newName
           }
        }
    }

In your store

export const store = new Vuex.Store({
         state:{
             name : "Stackoverflow"
         },
         getters: {
                 name: (state) => {
                     return state.name;
                 }
         }
}

Regex to validate JSON

A trailing comma in a JSON array caused my Perl 5.16 to hang, possibly because it kept backtracking. I had to add a backtrack-terminating directive:

(?<json>   \s* (?: (?&number) | (?&boolean) | (?&string) | (?&array) | (?&object) )(*PRUNE) \s* )
                                                                                   ^^^^^^^^

This way, once it identifies a construct that is not 'optional' (* or ?), it shouldn't try backtracking over it to try to identify it as something else.

Why does the html input with type "number" allow the letter 'e' to be entered in the field?

HTML input number type allows "e/E" because "e" stands for exponential which is a numeric symbol.

Example 200000 can also be written as 2e5. I hope this helps thank you for the question.

How to submit an HTML form without redirection

Using this snippet, you can submit the form and avoid redirection. Instead you can pass the success function as argument and do whatever you want.

function submitForm(form, successFn){
    if (form.getAttribute("id") != '' || form.getAttribute("id") != null){
        var id = form.getAttribute("id");
    } else {
        console.log("Form id attribute was not set; the form cannot be serialized");
    }

    $.ajax({
        type: form.method,
        url: form.action,
        data: $(id).serializeArray(),
        dataType: "json",
        success: successFn,
        //error: errorFn(data)
    });
}

And then just do:

var formElement = document.getElementById("yourForm");
submitForm(formElement, function() {
    console.log("Form submitted");
});

UIViewController viewDidLoad vs. viewWillAppear: What is the proper division of labor?

It's important to note that using viewDidLoad for positioning is a bit risky and should be avoided since the bounds are not set. this may cause unexpected results (I had a variety of issues...)

This post describes quite well the different methods and what happens in each of them.

currently for one-time init and positioning I'm thinking of using viewDidAppear with a flag, if anyone has any other recommendation please let me know.

How to locate the git config file in Mac

I use this function which is saved in .bash_profile and it works a treat for me.

function show_hidden () {
        { defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles $1; killall -HUP Finder; }
}

How to use:

show_hidden true|false

Multiple try codes in one block

You'll have to make this separate try blocks:

try:
    code a
except ExplicitException:
    pass

try:
    code b
except ExplicitException:
    try:
        code c
    except ExplicitException:
        try:
            code d
        except ExplicitException:
            pass

This assumes you want to run code c only if code b failed.

If you need to run code c regardless, you need to put the try blocks one after the other:

try:
    code a
except ExplicitException:
    pass

try:
    code b
except ExplicitException:
    pass

try:
    code c
except ExplicitException:
    pass

try:
    code d
except ExplicitException:
    pass

I'm using except ExplicitException here because it is never a good practice to blindly ignore all exceptions. You'll be ignoring MemoryError, KeyboardInterrupt and SystemExit as well otherwise, which you normally do not want to ignore or intercept without some kind of re-raise or conscious reason for handling those.

Determine on iPhone if user has enabled push notifications

Below you'll find a complete example that covers both iOS8 and iOS7 (and lower versions). Please note that prior to iOS8 you can't distinguish between "remote notifications disabled" and "only View in lockscreen enabled".

BOOL remoteNotificationsEnabled = false, noneEnabled,alertsEnabled, badgesEnabled, soundsEnabled;

if ([[UIApplication sharedApplication] respondsToSelector:@selector(registerUserNotificationSettings:)]) {
    // iOS8+
    remoteNotificationsEnabled = [UIApplication sharedApplication].isRegisteredForRemoteNotifications;

    UIUserNotificationSettings *userNotificationSettings = [UIApplication sharedApplication].currentUserNotificationSettings;

    noneEnabled = userNotificationSettings.types == UIUserNotificationTypeNone;
    alertsEnabled = userNotificationSettings.types & UIUserNotificationTypeAlert;
    badgesEnabled = userNotificationSettings.types & UIUserNotificationTypeBadge;
    soundsEnabled = userNotificationSettings.types & UIUserNotificationTypeSound;

} else {
    // iOS7 and below
    UIRemoteNotificationType enabledRemoteNotificationTypes = [UIApplication sharedApplication].enabledRemoteNotificationTypes;

    noneEnabled = enabledRemoteNotificationTypes == UIRemoteNotificationTypeNone;
    alertsEnabled = enabledRemoteNotificationTypes & UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert;
    badgesEnabled = enabledRemoteNotificationTypes & UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge;
    soundsEnabled = enabledRemoteNotificationTypes & UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound;
}

if ([[UIApplication sharedApplication] respondsToSelector:@selector(registerUserNotificationSettings:)]) {
    NSLog(@"Remote notifications enabled: %@", remoteNotificationsEnabled ? @"YES" : @"NO");
}

NSLog(@"Notification type status:");
NSLog(@"  None: %@", noneEnabled ? @"enabled" : @"disabled");
NSLog(@"  Alerts: %@", alertsEnabled ? @"enabled" : @"disabled");
NSLog(@"  Badges: %@", badgesEnabled ? @"enabled" : @"disabled");
NSLog(@"  Sounds: %@", soundsEnabled ? @"enabled" : @"disabled");

SelectedValue vs SelectedItem.Value of DropDownList

They are both different. SelectedValue property gives you the actual value of the item in selection whereas SelectedItem.Text gives you the display text. For example: you drop down may have an itme like

<asp:ListItem Text="German" Value="de"></asp:ListItem>

So, in this case SelectedValue would be de and SelectedItem.Text would give 'German'

EDIT:

In that case, they aare both same ... Cause SelectedValue will give you the value stored for current selected item in your dropdown and SelectedItem.Value will be Value of the currently selected item.

So they both would give you the same result.

Postgresql SQL: How check boolean field with null and True,False Value?

I'm not expert enough in the inner workings of Postgres to know why your query with the double condition in the WHERE clause be not working. But one way to get around this would be to use a UNION of the two queries which you know do work:

SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE boolean_column IS NULL
UNION
SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE boolean_column = FALSE

You could also try using COALESCE:

SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE COALESCE(boolean_column, FALSE) = FALSE

This second query will replace all NULL values with FALSE and then compare against FALSE in the WHERE condition.

How can I change image tintColor in iOS and WatchKit

Swift 3 version of extension answer from fuzz

func imageWithColor(color: UIColor) -> UIImage {

    context.scaleBy(x: 1.0, y: -1.0);
    context.setBlendMode(.normal)

    let rect = CGRect(x: 0, y: 0, width: self.size.width, height: self.size.height) as CGRect
    context.clip(to: rect, mask: self.cgImage!)

How to add column if not exists on PostgreSQL?

CREATE OR REPLACE function f_add_col(_tbl regclass, _col text, _type regtype)
  RETURNS bool AS
$func$
BEGIN
   IF EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM pg_attribute
              WHERE  attrelid = _tbl
              AND    attname = _col
              AND    NOT attisdropped) THEN
      RETURN FALSE;
   ELSE
      EXECUTE format('ALTER TABLE %s ADD COLUMN %I %s', _tbl, _col, _type);
      RETURN TRUE;
   END IF;
END
$func$  LANGUAGE plpgsql;

Call:

SELECT f_add_col('public.kat', 'pfad1', 'int');

Returns TRUE on success, else FALSE (column already exists).
Raises an exception for invalid table or type name.

Why another version?

  • This could be done with a DO statement, but DO statements cannot return anything. And if it's for repeated use, I would create a function.

  • I use the object identifier types regclass and regtype for _tbl and _type which a) prevents SQL injection and b) checks validity of both immediately (cheapest possible way). The column name _col has still to be sanitized for EXECUTE with quote_ident(). More explanation in this related answer:

  • format() requires Postgres 9.1+. For older versions concatenate manually:

    EXECUTE 'ALTER TABLE ' || _tbl || ' ADD COLUMN ' || quote_ident(_col) || ' ' || _type;

  • You can schema-qualify your table name, but you don't have to.
    You can double-quote the identifiers in the function call to preserve camel-case and reserved words (but you shouldn't use any of this anyway).

  • I query pg_catalog instead of the information_schema. Detailed explanation:

  • Blocks containing an EXCEPTION clause like the currently accepted answer are substantially slower. This is generally simpler and faster. The documentation:

Tip: A block containing an EXCEPTION clause is significantly more expensive to enter and exit than a block without one. Therefore, don't use EXCEPTION without need.

javascript: detect scroll end

Since innerHeight doesn't work in some old IE versions, clientHeight can be used:

$(window).scroll(function (e){
    var body = document.body;
    //alert (body.clientHeight);
    var scrollTop = this.pageYOffset || body.scrollTop;
    if (body.scrollHeight - scrollTop === parseFloat(body.clientHeight)) {
        loadMoreNews();
    }
});

Why is an OPTIONS request sent and can I disable it?

One solution I have used in the past - lets say your site is on mydomain.com, and you need to make an ajax request to foreigndomain.com

Configure an IIS rewrite from your domain to the foreign domain - e.g.

<rewrite>
  <rules>
    <rule name="ForeignRewrite" stopProcessing="true">
        <match url="^api/v1/(.*)$" />
        <action type="Rewrite" url="https://foreigndomain.com/{R:1}" />
    </rule>
  </rules>
</rewrite>

on your mydomain.com site - you can then make a same origin request, and there's no need for any options request :)

}

Message: Trying to access array offset on value of type null

This happens because $cOTLdata is not null but the index 'char_data' does not exist. Previous versions of PHP may have been less strict on such mistakes and silently swallowed the error / notice while 7.4 does not do this anymore.

To check whether the index exists or not you can use isset():

isset($cOTLdata['char_data'])

Which means the line should look something like this:

$len = isset($cOTLdata['char_data']) ? count($cOTLdata['char_data']) : 0;

Note I switched the then and else cases of the ternary operator since === null is essentially what isset already does (but in the positive case).

Can I assume (bool)true == (int)1 for any C++ compiler?

According to the standard, you should be safe with that assumption. The C++ bool type has two values - true and false with corresponding values 1 and 0.

The thing to watch about for is mixing bool expressions and variables with BOOL expression and variables. The latter is defined as FALSE = 0 and TRUE != FALSE, which quite often in practice means that any value different from 0 is considered TRUE.

A lot of modern compilers will actually issue a warning for any code that implicitly tries to cast from BOOL to bool if the BOOL value is different than 0 or 1.

What is the difference between char, nchar, varchar, and nvarchar in SQL Server?

My attempt to summarize and correct the existing answers:

First, char and nchar will always use a fixed amount of storage space, even when the string to be stored is smaller than the available space, whereas varchar and nvarchar will use only as much storage space as is needed to store that string (plus two bytes of overhead, presumably to store the string length). So remember, "var" means "variable", as in variable space.

The second major point to understand is that, nchar and nvarchar store strings using exactly two bytes per character, whereas char and varchar use an encoding determined by the collation code page, which will usually be exactly one byte per character (though there are exceptions, see below). By using two bytes per character, a very wide range of characters can be stored, so the basic thing to remember here is that nchar and nvarchar tend to be a much better choice when you want internationalization support, which you probably do.

Now for some some finer points.

First, nchar and nvarchar columns always store data using UCS-2. This means that exactly two bytes per character will be used, and any Unicode character in the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) can be stored by an nchar or nvarchar field. However, it is not the case that any Unicode character can be stored. For example, according to Wikipedia, the code points for Egyptian hieroglyphs fall outside of the BMP. There are, therefore, Unicode strings that can be represented in UTF-8 and other true Unicode encodings that cannot be stored in a SQL Server nchar or nvarchar field, and strings written in Egyptian hieroglyphs would be among them. Fortunately your users probably don't write in that script, but it's something to keep in mind!

Another confusing but interesting point that other posters have highlighted is that char and varchar fields may use two bytes per character for certain characters if the collation code page requires it. (Martin Smith gives an excellent example in which he shows how Chinese_Traditional_Stroke_Order_100_CS_AS_KS_WS exhibits this behavior. Check it out.)

UPDATE: As of SQL Server 2012, there are finally code pages for UTF-16, for example Latin1_General_100_CI_AS_SC, which can truly cover the entire Unicode range.

scp from Linux to Windows

For all, who has installed GiT completly with "Git Bash": You can just write:

scp login@ip_addres:/location/to/folders/file.tar .

(with space and DOT at the end to copy to current location). Than just add certificate (y), write password and that's all.

Autowiring fails: Not an managed Type

After encountering this issue and tried different method of adding the entity packaname name to EntityScan, ComponentScan etc, none of it worked.

Added the package to packageScan config in the EntityManagerFactory of the repository config. The below code gives the code based configuration as opposed to XML based ones answered above.

@Primary
@Bean(name = "entityManagerFactory")
public EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory() {
    LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean emf = new LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean();
    emf.setDataSource(dataSource);
    emf.setJpaVendorAdapter(jpaVendorAdapter);
    emf.setPackagesToScan("org.package.entity");
    emf.setPersistenceUnitName("default");
    emf.afterPropertiesSet();
    return emf.getObject();
}

Count number of objects in list

Advice for R newcomers like me : beware, the following is a list of a single object :

> mylist <- list (1:10)
> length (mylist)
[1] 1

In such a case you are not looking for the length of the list, but of its first element :

> length (mylist[[1]])
[1] 10

This is a "true" list :

> mylist <- list(1:10, rnorm(25), letters[1:3])
> length (mylist)
[1] 3

Also, it seems that R considers a data.frame as a list :

> df <- data.frame (matrix(0, ncol = 30, nrow = 2))
> typeof (df)
[1] "list"

In such a case you may be interested in ncol() and nrow() rather than length() :

> ncol (df)
[1] 30
> nrow (df)
[1] 2

Though length() will also work (but it's a trick when your data.frame has only one column) :

> length (df)
[1] 30
> length (df[[1]])
[1] 2

How to pass optional parameters while omitting some other optional parameters?

Another approach is:

error(message: string, options?: {title?: string, autoHideAfter?: number});

So when you want to omit the title parameter, just send the data like that:

error('the message', { autoHideAfter: 1 })

I'd rather this options because allows me to add more parameter without having to send the others.

tar: add all files and directories in current directory INCLUDING .svn and so on

There are a couple of steps to take:

  1. Replace * by . to include hidden files as well.
  2. To create the archive in the same directory a --exclude=workspace.tar.gz can be used to exclude the archive itself.
  3. To prevent the tar: .: file changed as we read it error when the archive is not yet created, make sure it exists (e.g. using touch), so the --exclude matches with the archive filename. (It does not match it the file does not exists)

Combined this results in the following script:

touch workspace.tar.gz
tar -czf workspace.tar.gz --exclude=workspace.tar.gz .

How to enable php7 module in apache?

I found the solution on the following thread : https://askubuntu.com/questions/760907/upgrade-to-16-04-php7-not-working-in-browser

Im my case not only the php wasn't working but phpmyadmin aswell i did step by step like that

sudo apt install php libapache2-mod-php
sudo apt install php7.0-mbstring
sudo a2dismod mpm_event
sudo a2enmod mpm_prefork
service apache2 restart

And then to:

gksu gedit /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

In the last line I do add Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf

That make a deal with all problems

If it solves your problem, up vote this solution in the original post.

Assign a login to a user created without login (SQL Server)

You have an orphaned user and this can't be remapped with ALTER USER (yet) becauses there is no login to map to. So, you need run CREATE LOGIN first.

If the database level user is

  • a Windows Login, the mapping will be fixed automatcially via the AD SID
  • a SQL Login, use "sid" from sys.database_principals for the SID option for the login

Then run ALTER USER

Edit, after comments and updates

The sid from sys.database_principals is for a Windows login.

So trying to create and re-map to a SQL Login will fail

Run this to get the Windows login

SELECT SUSER_SNAME(0x0105000000000009030000001139F53436663A4CA5B9D5D067A02390)

How to load my app from Eclipse to my Android phone instead of AVD

Yes! You can Debug Android Application While you are developing them follow these steps.. Make sure that you have PC suite of the mobile manufacturer. For Example:if you are using samsung you should have samsung kies

1.Enable USB debugging on your device:Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging 2.Enable Unknownresources:Settings>Unknowresoures
3.Connect your device to PC
4.Select your Application Right click it: RunAS>Run configurations>Choose Device>Target Select your device Run.

How to select where ID in Array Rails ActiveRecord without exception

If it is just avoiding the exception you are worried about, the "find_all_by.." family of functions works without throwing exceptions.

Comment.find_all_by_id([2, 3, 5])

will work even if some of the ids don't exist. This works in the

user.comments.find_all_by_id(potentially_nonexistent_ids)

case as well.

Update: Rails 4

Comment.where(id: [2, 3, 5])

Why does Date.parse give incorrect results?

Another solution is to build an associative array with date format and then reformat data.

This method is useful for date formatted in an unussual way.

An example:

    mydate='01.02.12 10:20:43':
    myformat='dd/mm/yy HH:MM:ss';

    dtsplit=mydate.split(/[\/ .:]/);
    dfsplit=myformat.split(/[\/ .:]/);

    // creates assoc array for date
    df = new Array();
    for(dc=0;dc<6;dc++) {
            df[dfsplit[dc]]=dtsplit[dc];
            }

    // uses assc array for standard mysql format
    dstring[r] = '20'+df['yy']+'-'+df['mm']+'-'+df['dd'];
    dstring[r] += ' '+df['HH']+':'+df['MM']+':'+df['ss'];

illegal use of break statement; javascript

You need to make sure requestAnimFrame stops being called once game == 1. A break statement only exits a traditional loop (e.g. while()).

function loop() {
    if (isPlaying) {
        jet1.draw();
        drawAllEnemies();
        if (game != 1) {
            requestAnimFrame(loop);
        }
    }
}

Or alternatively you could simply skip the second if condition and change the first condition to if (isPlaying && game !== 1). You would have to make a variable called game and give it a value of 0. Add 1 to it every game.

Apache Tomcat Not Showing in Eclipse Server Runtime Environments

In my case I needed to install "JST Server Adapters". I am running Eclipse 3.6 Helios RCP Edition.

Here are the steps I followed:

  1. Help -> Install New Software
  2. Choose "Helios - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios" site or kepler - http://download.ecliplse.org/releases/kepler
  3. Expand "Web, XML, and Java EE Development"
  4. Check JST Server Adapters (version 3.2.2)

After that I could define new Server Runtime Environments.

EDIT: With Eclipse 3.7 Indigo Classic, Eclipse Kepler and Luna, the steps are the same (with appropriate update site) but you need both JST Server Adapters and JST Server Adapters Extentions to get the Server Runtime Environment options.

DynamoDB vs MongoDB NoSQL

For quick overview comparisons, I really like this website, that has many comparison pages, eg AWS DynamoDB vs MongoDB; http://db-engines.com/en/system/Amazon+DynamoDB%3BMongoDB

How to check if array element exists or not in javascript?

you can simply use this:

var tmp = ['a', 'b'];
index = 3 ;

    console.log(tmp[index] + '\n');
}else{
    console.log(' does not exist');
}

How to change current Theme at runtime in Android

What is the difference between XML and XSD?

SIMPLE XML EXAMPLE:

<school>
  <firstname>John</firstname>
  <lastname>Smith</lastname>
</school>

XSD OF ABOVE XML(Explained):

<xs:element name="school">
  <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
      <xs:element name="firstname" type="xs:string"/>
      <xs:element name="lastname" type="xs:string"/>
    </xs:sequence>
  </xs:complexType>
</xs:element>

Here:

xs:element : Defines an element.

xs:sequence : Denotes child elements only appear in the order mentioned.

xs:complexType : Denotes it contains other elements.

xs:simpleType : Denotes they do not contain other elements.

type: string, decimal, integer, boolean, date, time,

  • In simple words, xsd is another way to represent and validate XML data with the specific type.
  • With the help of extra attributes, we can perform multiple operations.

  • Performing any task on xsd is simpler than xml.

Deserialize JSON into C# dynamic object?

You can do this using System.Web.Helpers.Json - its Decode method returns a dynamic object which you can traverse as you like.

It's included in the System.Web.Helpers assembly (.NET 4.0).

var dynamicObject = Json.Decode(jsonString);

Calling functions in a DLL from C++

You can either go the LoadLibrary/GetProcAddress route (as Harper mentioned in his answer, here's link to the run-time dynamic linking MSDN sample again) or you can link your console application to the .lib produced from the DLL project and include the hea.h file with the declaration of your function (as described in the load-time dynamic linking MSDN sample)

In both cases, you need to make sure your DLL exports the function you want to call properly. The easiest way to do it is by using __declspec(dllexport) on the function declaration (as shown in the creating a simple dynamic-link library MSDN sample), though you can do it also through the corresponding .def file in your DLL project.

For more information on the topic of DLLs, you should browse through the MSDN About Dynamic-Link Libraries topic.

How to add a custom HTTP header to every WCF call?

A bit late to the party but Juval Lowy addresses this exact scenario in his book and the associated ServiceModelEx library.

Basically he defines ClientBase and ChannelFactory specialisations that allow specifying type-safe header values. I suggesst downloading the source and looking at the HeaderClientBase and HeaderChannelFactory classes.

How to get the category title in a post in Wordpress?

You can use

<?php the_category(', '); ?>

which would output them in a comma separated list.

You can also do the same for tags as well:

<?php the_tags('<em>:</em>', ', ', ''); ?>

How do I capture the output of a script if it is being ran by the task scheduler?

This snippet uses wmic.exe to build the date string. It isn't mangled by locale settings

rem DATE as YYYY-MM-DD via WMIC.EXE

set RDATE=%datetime:~0,4%-%datetime:~4,2%-%datetime:~6,2%

How can I print variable and string on same line in Python?

I copied and pasted your script into a .py file. I ran it as-is with Python 2.7.10 and received the same syntax error. I also tried the script in Python 3.5 and received the following output:

File "print_strings_on_same_line.py", line 16
print fiveYears
              ^
SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print'

Then, I modified the last line where it prints the number of births as follows:

currentPop = 312032486
oneYear = 365
hours = 24
minutes = 60
seconds = 60

# seconds in a single day
secondsInDay = hours * minutes * seconds

# seconds in a year
secondsInYear = secondsInDay * oneYear

fiveYears = secondsInYear * 5

#Seconds in 5 years
print fiveYears

# fiveYears in seconds, divided by 7 seconds
births = fiveYears // 7

print "If there was a birth every 7 seconds, there would be: " + str(births) + " births"

The output was (Python 2.7.10):

157680000
If there was a birth every 7 seconds, there would be: 22525714 births

I hope this helps.

Complexities of binary tree traversals

O(n),I would say . I am doing for a balanced tree,applicable for all the trees. Assuming that you use recursion,

T(n) = 2*T(n/2) + 1 ----------> (1)

T(n/2) for left sub-tree and T(n/2) for right sub-tree and '1' for verifying the base case.

On Simplifying (1) you can prove that the traversal(either inorder or preorder or post order) is of order O(n).

Postgres Error: More than one row returned by a subquery used as an expression

This error means that the SELECT store_key FROM store query has returned two or more rows in the SERVER1 database. If you would like to update all customers, use a join instead of a scalar = operator. You need a condition to "connect" customers to store items in order to do that.

If you wish to update all customer_ids to the same store_key, you need to supply a WHERE clause to the remotely executed SELECT so that the query returns a single row.

Where does Chrome store cookies?

On Windows the path is:

C:\Users\<current_user>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\<Profile 1>\Cookies(Type:File)

Chrome doesn't store each cookies in separate text file. It stores all of the cookies together in a single file in the profile folder. That file is not readable.

Keystore change passwords

If the keystore contains other key-entries with different password you have to change them also or you can isolate your key to different keystore using below command,

keytool -importkeystore -srckeystore mystore.jck -destkeystore myotherstore.jks -srcstoretype jceks
-deststoretype jks -srcstorepass mystorepass -deststorepass myotherstorepass -srcalias myserverkey
-destalias myotherserverkey -srckeypass mykeypass -destkeypass myotherkeypass

align right in a table cell with CSS

How to position block elements in a td cell

The answers provided do a great job to right-align text in a td cell.

This might not be the solution when you're looking to align a block element as commented in the accepted answer. To achieve such with a block element, I have found it useful to make use of margins;

general syntax

selector {
  margin: top right bottom left;
}

justify right

td {
  /* there is a shorthand, TODO!  */
  margin: auto 0 auto auto;
}

justify center

td {
  margin: auto auto auto auto;
}

/* or the short-hand */
margin: auto;

align center

td {
  margin: auto;
}

JS Fiddle example

Alternatively, you could make you td content display inline-block if that's an option, but that may distort the position of its child elements.

FlutterError: Unable to load asset

Dec 25th, 2019 :

Whoever facing issue regarding Image not showing in Flutter , let me give you simple checkpoints :

  1. Image.asset('assets/images/photo1.png'); -- here make sure dont use / (forward slash ) before assets.
  2. YAML file always be clear dont use space , instead use TAB.
  3. YAML file add entries for assets. as mentioned in above comment.

First point is very important

Can dplyr join on multiple columns or composite key?

Updating to use tibble()

You can pass a named vector of length greater than 1 to the by argument of left_join():

library(dplyr)

d1 <- tibble(
  x = letters[1:3],
  y = LETTERS[1:3],
  a = rnorm(3)
  )

d2 <- tibble(
  x2 = letters[3:1],
  y2 = LETTERS[3:1],
  b = rnorm(3)
  )

left_join(d1, d2, by = c("x" = "x2", "y" = "y2"))

AngularJS - add HTML element to dom in directive without jQuery

You could use something like this

var el = document.createElement("svg");
el.style.width="600px";
el.style.height="100px";
....
iElement[0].appendChild(el)

Can I pass column name as input parameter in SQL stored Procedure

You can do this in a couple of ways.

One, is to build up the query yourself and execute it.

SET @sql = 'SELECT ' + @columnName + ' FROM yourTable'
sp_executesql @sql

If you opt for that method, be very certain to santise your input. Even if you know your application will only give 'real' column names, what if some-one finds a crack in your security and is able to execute the SP directly? Then they can execute just about anything they like. With dynamic SQL, always, always, validate the parameters.

Alternatively, you can write a CASE statement...

SELECT
  CASE @columnName
    WHEN 'Col1' THEN Col1
    WHEN 'Col2' THEN Col2
                ELSE NULL
  END as selectedColumn
FROM
  yourTable

This is a bit more long winded, but a whole lot more secure.

How to define constants in ReactJS

well, there are many ways to do this in javascript just like other says. I don't think there's a way to do it in react. here's what I would do:

in a js file:

module.exports = {
    small_square: 's',
    large_square: 'q'
}

in your react file:

'use strict';

var Constant = require('constants');
....
var something = Constant.small_square;

something for you to consider, hope this helps

ORA-00942: table or view does not exist (works when a separate sql, but does not work inside a oracle function)

There's a strong chance that the privileges to select from table1 have been granted to a role, and the role has been granted to you. Privileges granted to a role are not available to PL/SQL written by a user, even if the user has been granted the role.

You see this a lot for users that have been granted the dba role on objects owned by sys. A user with dba role will be able to, say, SELECT * from V$SESSION, but will not be able to write a function that includes SELECT * FROM V$SESSION.

The fix is to grant explicit permissions on the object in question to the user directly, for example, in the case above, the SYS user has to GRANT SELECT ON V_$SESSION TO MyUser;

How to comment in Vim's config files: ".vimrc"?

Same as above. Use double quote to start the comment and without the closing quote.

java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert to internal representation

I had the same problem and this is my solution. I had the following code:

se.GiftDescription = rs.getString(1);
se.GiftAmount = rs.getInt(2);

And I changed it to:

se.GiftDescription = rs.getString("DESCRIPTION");
se.GiftAmount = rs.getInt("AMOUNT");

And the problem was, after I restarted my PC, the column positions changed. That's why I got this error.

Does the join order matter in SQL?

For INNER joins, no, the order doesn't matter. The queries will return same results, as long as you change your selects from SELECT * to SELECT a.*, b.*, c.*.

For (LEFT, RIGHT or FULL) OUTER joins, yes, the order matters - and (updated) things are much more complicated.

First, outer joins are not commutative, so a LEFT JOIN b is not the same as b LEFT JOIN a

Outer joins are not associative either, so in your examples which involve both (commutativity and associativity) properties:

a LEFT JOIN b
    ON b.ab_id = a.ab_id
  LEFT JOIN c
    ON c.ac_id = a.ac_id

is equivalent to:

a LEFT JOIN c
    ON c.ac_id = a.ac_id
  LEFT JOIN b
    ON b.ab_id = a.ab_id

but:

a LEFT JOIN b
    ON  b.ab_id = a.ab_id
  LEFT JOIN c
    ON  c.ac_id = a.ac_id
    AND c.bc_id = b.bc_id

is not equivalent to:

a LEFT JOIN c
    ON  c.ac_id = a.ac_id
  LEFT JOIN b
    ON  b.ab_id = a.ab_id
    AND b.bc_id = c.bc_id

Another (hopefully simpler) associativity example. Think of this as (a LEFT JOIN b) LEFT JOIN c:

a LEFT JOIN b
    ON b.ab_id = a.ab_id          -- AB condition
 LEFT JOIN c
    ON c.bc_id = b.bc_id          -- BC condition

This is equivalent to a LEFT JOIN (b LEFT JOIN c):

a LEFT JOIN
    b LEFT JOIN c
        ON c.bc_id = b.bc_id          -- BC condition
    ON b.ab_id = a.ab_id          -- AB condition

only because we have "nice" ON conditions. Both ON b.ab_id = a.ab_id and c.bc_id = b.bc_id are equality checks and do not involve NULL comparisons.

You can even have conditions with other operators or more complex ones like: ON a.x <= b.x or ON a.x = 7 or ON a.x LIKE b.x or ON (a.x, a.y) = (b.x, b.y) and the two queries would still be equivalent.

If however, any of these involved IS NULL or a function that is related to nulls like COALESCE(), for example if the condition was b.ab_id IS NULL, then the two queries would not be equivalent.

In jQuery how can I set "top,left" properties of an element with position values relative to the parent and not the document?

Use offset() function of jQuery. Here it would be:

$container.offset({
        'left': 100,
        'top': mouse.y - ( event_state.mouse_y - event_state.container_top )
    });

What does @media screen and (max-width: 1024px) mean in CSS?

It targets some specified feature to execute some other codes...

For example:

@media all and (max-width: 600px) {
  .navigation {
    -webkit-flex-flow: column wrap;
    flex-flow: column wrap;
    padding: 0;

  }

the above snippet say if the device that run this program have screen with 600px or less than 600px width, in this case our program must execute this part .
