How to implement OnFragmentInteractionListener

For those of you who still don't understand after reading @meda answer, here is my concise and complete explanation for this issue:

Let's say you have 2 Fragments, Fragment_A and Fragment_B which are auto-generated from the app. On the bottom part of your generated fragments, you're going to find this code:

jQuery UI DatePicker to show month year only

I needed a Month/Year picker for two fields (From & To) and when one was chosen the Max/Min was set on the other one...a la picking airline ticket dates. I was having issues setting the max and min...the dates of the other field would get erased. Thanks to several of the above posts...I finally figured it out. You have to set options and dates in a very specific order.

Force “landscape” orientation mode

I had the same problem, it was a missing manifest.json file, if not found the browser decide with orientation is best fit, if you don't specify the file or use a wrong path.

I fixed just calling the manifest.json correctly on html headers.

There are some misconceptions in your question.

There are no associative arrays in Javascript. Only Arrays and Objects.

These are arrays:

var a1 = [1, 2, 3];
var a2 = ["a", "b", "c"];
var a3 = [];
a3[0] = "a";

This is an array, too:

var a3 = [];
a3[29938] = "a";
a3[32994] = "b";

It's basically an array with holes in it, because every array does have continous indexing. It's slower than arrays without holes. But iterating manually through the array is even slower (mostly).

This is an object:

You can't add static methods to a type. You can only add (pseudo-)instance methods to an instance of a type.

First of all, you do not have to develop any form yourself : phpMyAdmin, depending on its configuration (i.e. config.inc.php) will display an identification form, asking for a login and password.

To get that form, you should not use :

But you should use :

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie';

(At least, that's what I have on a server which prompts for login/password, using a form)

First, Add Fragment1 to BackStack with a name (e.g "Frag1"):

As suggested, you can use some 3rd party library, or do it manually (which is not that much work), but the simplest and the most flexible is to perhaps use the built-in functionality in .NET. For more see:

I say "it’s the most flexible" because .NET does not try to interpret or coalesce the data in any way. For each EXIF you basically get an array of bytes. This may be good or bad depending on how much control you actually want.

Also, I should point out that the property list does not in fact directly correspond to the EXIF values. EXIF itself is stored in multiple tables with overlapping ID’s, but .NET puts everything in one list and redefines ID’s of some items. But as long as you don’t care about the precise EXIF ID’s, you should be fine with the .NET mapping.

But as an IN-THEORY solution you can write a function which is selecting the elements classed by .visibilityCheck (not all visible elements) and check their visibility property value; if true then do something.

Afterward, the function should be performed periodically using the setInterval() function. You can stop the timer using the clearInterval() upon successful call-out.

Threads vs Processes in Linux

To complicate matters further, there is such a thing as thread-local storage, and Unix shared memory.

Thread-local storage allows each thread to have a separate instance of global objects. The only time I've used it was when constructing an emulation environment on linux/windows, for application code that ran in an RTOS. In the RTOS each task was a process with it's own address space, in the emulation environment, each task was a thread (with a shared address space). By using TLS for things like singletons, we were able to have a separate instance for each thread, just like under the 'real' RTOS environment.

Shared memory can (obviously) give you the performance benefits of having multiple processes access the same memory, but at the cost/risk of having to synchronize the processes properly. One way to do that is have one process create a data structure in shared memory, and then send a handle to that structure via traditional inter-process communication (like a named pipe).

You'll be wanting to use the 'read' command

Note that "$name" is quoted -- if it's not, it will be split using the characters in $IFS as delimiters. This probably won't be noticed if you're just echoing the variable, but if your file contains a list of file names which you want to copy, those will get broken down by $IFS if the variable is unquoted, which is not what you want or expect.

If you want to use Mike Clark's approach (loading into a variable rather than using read), you can do it without the use of cat:

First, use the bounding boxes as described by Jonathan Holland to find if you may have a collision.

InStr

You can use the InStr build-in function to test if a String contains a substring. InStr will either return the index of the first match, or 0. So you can test if a String begins with a substring by doing the following:

I think if you overwrite a method and want to all the super-class version of it (like, say for equals), then you virtually always want to call the direct superclass version first, which one will call its superclass version in turn if it wants.

Getting Database connection in pure JPA setup

I'm using a old version of Hibernate (3.3.0) with a newest version of OpenEJB (4.6.0). My solution was:

Commit can not be set while enrolled in a transaction

Because this code above was inside a EJB Controller (you can't commit inside a transaction). I annotated the method with @TransactionAttribute(value = TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED) and the problem was gone.

Style input type file?

After looking around on Google for a long time, trying out several solutions, both CSS, JavaScript and JQuery, i found that most of them were using an Image as the button. Some of them were hard to use, but i did manage to piece together something that ended out working out for me.

The important parts for me was:

  • The Browse button had to be a Button (not an image).
  • The button had to have a hover effect (to make it look nice).
  • The Width of both the Text and the button had to be easy to adjust.
  • The solution had to work in IE8, FF, Chrome and Safari.

This is the solution i came up with. And hope it can be of use to others as well.

Change the width of .file_input_textbox to change the width of the textbox.

Change the width of both .file_input_div, .file_input_button and .file_input_button_hover to change the width of the button. You might need to tweak a bit on the positions also. I never figured out why...

To test this solution, make a new html file and paste the content into it.

Export table data from one SQL Server to another

Just for the kicks.

Since I wasnt able to create linked server and since just connecting to production server was not enough to use INSERT INTO i did the following:

  • created a backup of production server database
  • restored the database on my test server
  • executed the insert into statements

Its a backdoor solution, but since i had problems it worked for me.

Since i have created empty tables using SCRIPT TABLE AS / CREATE in order to transfer all the keys and indexes I couldnt use SELECT INTO. SELECT INTO only works if the tables do not exist on the destination location but it does not copy keys and indexes, so you have to do that manualy. The downside of using INSERT INTO statement is that you have to manualy provide with all the column names, plus it might give you some problems if some foreign key constraints fail.

Thanks to all anwsers, there are some great solutions but i have decided to accept marc_s anwser.

SQL Scripting method is useful to generate one single script for the tables’ schema and data, including the indexes and keys. But again this method doesn’t generate the tables’ creation script in the correct order if there are relations between the tables.

The java.time framework is built into Java 8 and later. These classes supplant the troublesome old legacy date-time classes such as java.util.Date, Calendar, & SimpleDateFormat.

The Joda-Time project, now in maintenance mode, advises migration to the java.time classes.

Using a JDBC driver compliant with JDBC 4.2 or later, you may exchange java.time objects directly with your database. No need for strings nor java.sql.* classes.

Time zone is crucial to determining a date. Better to specify the zone rather than rely implicitly on the JVM’s current default time zone being assigned.

Prevent a webpage from navigating away using JavaScript

Unlike other methods presented here, this bit of code will not cause the browser to display a warning asking the user if he wants to leave; instead, it exploits the evented nature of the DOM to redirect back to the current page (and thus cancel navigation) before the browser has a chance to unload it from memory.

Since it works by short-circuiting navigation directly, it cannot be used to prevent the page from being closed; however, it can be used to disable frame-busting.

You could try to create your own color palette using the RColorBrewer package

and see how this looks like. But I assume in your case only scaling would help if you really want to keep the black in "the middle". You can simply use my_palette instead of the redgreen()

I recommend that you check out the RColorBrewer package, they have pretty nice in-built palettes, and see interactive website for colorbrewer.

Force browser to clear cache

You could also consider using getting the indexes of last elements in each specified dimensions using this as following;

Chrome is a Chromium-based browser and Chromium-based browsers only allow maximum 6 open socket connections at a time, when the 7th connection starts up it will just sit idle and wait for one of the 6 which are running to stop and then it will start running. What is the point of "final class" in Java?

As above told, if you want no one can change the functionality of the method then you can declare it as final.

Example: Application server file path for download/upload, splitting string based on offset, such methods you can declare it Final so that these method functions will not be altered. And if you want such final methods in a separate class, then define that class as Final class. So Final class will have all final methods, where as Final method can be declared and defined in non-final class.

You can create an empty file whether it exists or not ...

if you want to leave the file if it exists ...

You will only get a FileNotFoundException if you try to create the file in a directory which doesn't exist.

Initialize empty vector in structure - c++

The default vector constructor will create an empty vector. As such, you should be able to write:

struct user r = { string(), vector<unsigned char>() };

Note, I've also used the default string constructor instead of "".

You might want to consider making user a class and adding a default constructor that does this for you:

Then just writing:

Will result in a correctly initialized user.

What is a good naming convention for vars, methods, etc in C++?

While many people will suggest more or less strict Hungarian notation variants (scary!), for naming suggestions I'd suggest you take a look at Google C++ Coding Guidelines. This may well be not the most popular naming conventions, but at least it's fairly complete. Apart from sound naming conventions, there's some useful guidelines there, however much of it should be taken with a grain of salt (exception ban for example, and the tendency to keep away from modern C++ coding style).

Although personally I like the extreme low-tech convention style of STL and Boost ;).

What is MATLAB good for? Why is it so used by universities? When is it better than Python?

MATLAB is a popular and widely adapted piece of a sophisticated software package. It'd be a mistake to think it's merely a math software since it has a wide range of "toolboxes". I recently used Matplotlib to plot some data from a database and it did the job without needing all the bells and whistles of MATLAB. However, it may not be proper to compare Python and MATLAB in every situation. As with everything else the decision depends on what you need to do.

I used MATLAB in undergrad for control systems design and simulation and also for image processing in grad school. For these fields MATLAB makes the most sense because of the powerful control and image processing toolboxes. As everyone mentioned, array operations, which are used in every MATLAB script you'd need to write, are very easy with MATLAB.

Another nice thing about MATLAB is that it's very easy and fast to do prototyping and trying out ideas using the built in toolbox functions. For instance, it takes no effort to import an image and compute it's histogram or do some simple processing on it. One disadvantage of MATLAB could be it's speed because of its interpreted nature. However, if one really needs speed than he can choose to implement the tested logic in C/C++, etc.

For further comparison with Python, I can say that MATLAB provides a full package for you to do your work without the need of looking around for external libraries and implementing extra functions.

One last point about MATLAB which I see is not mentioned in the answers here is that it has a very powerful visual modeling/simulation environment called Simulink. It's easier to design and simulate larger systems with Simulink.

Finally, again, it all depends on the problem you need to solve. If your problem domain can make use of one of MATLAB's toolboxes and you have access to MATLAB then you can be sure that you'll have the right tool to solve it.

Here is some interesting information about SET / SELECT

  • SET is the ANSI standard for variable assignment, SELECT is not.
  • SET can only assign one variable at a time, SELECT can make multiple assignments at once.
  • If assigning from a query, SET can only assign a scalar value. If the query returns multiple values/rows then SET will raise an error. SELECT will assign one of the values to the variable and hide the fact that multiple values were returned (so you'd likely never know why something was going wrong elsewhere - have fun troubleshooting that one)
  • When assigning from a query if there is no value returned then SET will assign NULL, where SELECT will not make the assignment at all (so the variable will not be changed from it's previous value)
  • As far as speed differences - there are no direct differences between SET and SELECT. However SELECT's ability to make multiple assignments in one shot does give it a slight speed advantage over SET.

There is function ReadLine in package bufio.

Please note that if the line does not fit into the read buffer, the function will return an incomplete line. If you want to always read a whole line in your program by a single call to a function, you will need to encapsulate the ReadLine function into your own function which calls ReadLine in a for-loop.

bufio.ReadString('\n') isn't fully equivalent to ReadLine because ReadString is unable to handle the case when the last line of a file does not end with the newline character.

Eclipse doesn't stop at breakpoints

Thanks guys, this really saved my day too. I antecedently pressed on skip break points, if you did the same this will result on break point appearing with a backslash icon on them.

To bring it back to normal:

  1. Switch to Debug perspective.
  2. press on the breakpoints view tap -->> upper right hand corner of the screen, you also can go there by Window->show view-> breakpoints.
  3. 5th icon from the left you will see break point with backslash. press on that one.

To confirm, try putting break point on any line, and it should appear normally.
