Consider the following servlet conf:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>NewServlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>NewServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>NewServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/NewServlet/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
Now, when I hit the URL http://localhost:8084/JSPTemp1/NewServlet/jhi
, it will invoke NewServlet
as it is mapped with the pattern described above.
Here:
getRequestURI() = /JSPTemp1/NewServlet/jhi
getPathInfo() = /jhi
We have those ones:
getPathInfo()
returns
a String, decoded by the web container, specifying extra path information that comes after the servlet path but before the query string in the request URL; or null if the URL does not have any extra path information
getRequestURI()
returns
a String containing the part of the URL from the protocol name up to the query string
