Maximum size of a varchar(max) variable

EDIT: After further investigation, my original assumption that this was an anomaly (bug?) of the declare @var datatype = value syntax is incorrect.

I modified your script for 2005 since that syntax is not supported, then tried the modified version on 2008. In 2005, I get the Attempting to grow LOB beyond maximum allowed size of 2147483647 bytes. error message. In 2008, the modified script is still successful.

declare @KMsg varchar(max); set @KMsg = REPLICATE('a',1024);
declare @MMsg varchar(max); set @MMsg = REPLICATE(@KMsg,1024);
declare @GMsg varchar(max); set @GMsg = REPLICATE(@MMsg,1024);
declare @GGMMsg varchar(max); set @GGMMsg = @GMsg + @GMsg + @MMsg;
select LEN(@GGMMsg)

A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: SIGSEGV, libjvm

7f0b024734d7:       0f 8e cb 05 00 00       jle    0x7f0b02473aa8

And what it does is:

rdx = 0x00007f0a808d4ed2 * 8; // equals 0x0003F854046A7690. WTF???
rdx = rdx + something from old gen heap; // results 0x000600007f090486
rdi = rdx + 16; // results 0x000600007f090496
ebx = something from edi address (0x000600007f090496) + 8

Well I've had a look at the address map and there is nothing mapped to 0x000600007f090496 which is why you are getting a SEGV. Are you getting the same error with 1.6.0_26 JVM? Can you try it on a 32bit JVM? Looks like a JVM issue to me. Why would it do the first rdx=0x0... * 8 thing?

Mutex example / tutorial?

The function pthread_mutex_lock() either acquires the mutex for the calling thread or blocks the thread until the mutex can be acquired. The related pthread_mutex_unlock() releases the mutex.

Think of the mutex as a queue; every thread that attempts to acquire the mutex will be placed on the end of the queue. When a thread releases the mutex, the next thread in the queue comes off and is now running.

A critical section refers to a region of code where non-determinism is possible. Often this because multiple threads are attempting to access a shared variable. The critical section is not safe until some sort of synchronization is in place. A mutex lock is one form of synchronization.

Using member variable in lambda capture list inside a member function

Summary of the alternatives:

capture this:

auto lambda = [this](){};

use a local reference to the member:

auto& tmp = grid;
auto lambda = [ tmp](){}; // capture grid by (a single) copy
auto lambda = [&tmp](){}; // capture grid by ref

C++14:

auto lambda = [ grid = grid](){}; // capture grid by copy
auto lambda = [&grid = grid](){}; // capture grid by ref

Hbase quickly count number of rows

If you're using a scanner, in your scanner try to have it return the least number of qualifiers as possible. In fact, the qualifier(s) that you do return should be the smallest (in byte-size) as you have available. This will speed up your scan tremendously.

Unfortuneately this will only scale so far (millions-billions?). To take it further, you can do this in real time but you will first need to run a mapreduce job to count all rows.

Store the Mapreduce output in a cell in HBase. Every time you add a row, increment the counter by 1. Every time you delete a row, decrement the counter.

When you need to access the number of rows in real time, you read that field in HBase.

There is no fast way to count the rows otherwise in a way that scales. You can only count so fast.

Where does git config --global get written to?

I am running Windows 7 and using git as setup by following the instructions on GitHub (a year or two back). A rather common use-case I would have thought. None of the answers above helped me, and after much frustration I eventually found my 'real' gitconfig file in the following directory;

C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local\GitHub\PortableGit_054f2e797ebafd44a30203088cd 3d58663c627ef\etc

Obviously substitute your user name and presumably the suffix after PortableGit_ is a unique GUID or similar.

Cannot drop database because it is currently in use

A brute force workaround could be:

  1. Stop the SQL Server Service.

  2. Delete the corresponding .mdf and .ldf files.

  3. Start the SQL Server Service.

  4. Connect with SSMS and delete the database.

How to get a substring of text?

if you need it in rails you can use first (source code)

'1234567890'.first(5) # => "12345"

there is also last (source code)

'1234567890'.last(2) # => "90"

alternatively check from/to (source code):

"hello".from(1).to(-2) # => "ell"

How to fix Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

I had a similar problem. I had saved some xml in a file and when reading it into a DOM document, it failed due to special character. Then I used the following code to fix it:

String enco = new String(Files.readAllBytes(Paths.get(listPayloadPath+"/Payload.xml")), StandardCharsets.UTF_8);

Document doc = builder.parse(new ByteArrayInputStream(enco.getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8)));

Let me know if it works for you.

Create JPA EntityManager without persistence.xml configuration file

Is there a way to initialize the EntityManager without a persistence unit defined?

You should define at least one persistence unit in the persistence.xml deployment descriptor.

Can you give all the required properties to create an Entitymanager?

  • The name attribute is required. The other attributes and elements are optional. (JPA specification). So this should be more or less your minimal persistence.xml file:
<persistence>
    <persistence-unit name="[REQUIRED_PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME_GOES_HERE]">
        SOME_PROPERTIES
    </persistence-unit>
</persistence>

In Java EE environments, the jta-data-source and non-jta-data-source elements are used to specify the global JNDI name of the JTA and/or non-JTA data source to be used by the persistence provider.

So if your target Application Server supports JTA (JBoss, Websphere, GlassFish), your persistence.xml looks like:

<persistence>
    <persistence-unit name="[REQUIRED_PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME_GOES_HERE]">
        <!--GLOBAL_JNDI_GOES_HERE-->
        <jta-data-source>jdbc/myDS</jta-data-source>
    </persistence-unit>
</persistence>

If your target Application Server does not support JTA (Tomcat), your persistence.xml looks like:

<persistence>
    <persistence-unit name="[REQUIRED_PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME_GOES_HERE]">
        <!--GLOBAL_JNDI_GOES_HERE-->
        <non-jta-data-source>jdbc/myDS</non-jta-data-source>
    </persistence-unit>
</persistence>

If your data source is not bound to a global JNDI (for instance, outside a Java EE container), so you would usually define JPA provider, driver, url, user and password properties. But property name depends on the JPA provider. So, for Hibernate as JPA provider, your persistence.xml file will looks like:

<persistence>
    <persistence-unit name="[REQUIRED_PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME_GOES_HERE]">
        <provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
        <class>br.com.persistence.SomeClass</class>
        <properties>
            <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class" value="org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver"/>
            <property name="hibernate.connection.url" value="jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/EmpServDB;create=true"/>
            <property name="hibernate.connection.username" value="APP"/>
            <property name="hibernate.connection.password" value="APP"/>
        </properties>
    </persistence-unit>
</persistence>

Transaction Type Attribute

In general, in Java EE environments, a transaction-type of RESOURCE_LOCAL assumes that a non-JTA datasource will be provided. In a Java EE environment, if this element is not specified, the default is JTA. In a Java SE environment, if this element is not specified, a default of RESOURCE_LOCAL may be assumed.

  • To insure the portability of a Java SE application, it is necessary to explicitly list the managed persistence classes that are included in the persistence unit (JPA specification)

I need to create the EntityManager from the user's specified values at runtime

So use this:

Map addedOrOverridenProperties = new HashMap();

// Let's suppose we are using Hibernate as JPA provider
addedOrOverridenProperties.put("hibernate.show_sql", true);

Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(<PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME_GOES_HERE>, addedOrOverridenProperties);

How to catch exception output from Python subprocess.check_output()?

This did the trick for me. It captures all the stdout output from the subprocess(For python 3.8):

from subprocess import check_output, STDOUT
cmd = "Your Command goes here"
try:
    cmd_stdout = check_output(cmd, stderr=STDOUT, shell=True).decode()
except Exception as e:
    print(e.output.decode()) # print out the stdout messages up to the exception
    print(e) # To print out the exception message

Is there a way to specify how many characters of a string to print out using printf()?

Print first four characters:

printf("%.4s\n", "A string that is more than 8 chars");

See this link for more information (check .precision -section)

What strategies and tools are useful for finding memory leaks in .NET?

If the leaks you are observing are due to a runaway cache implementation, this is a scenario where you might want to consider the use of WeakReference. This could help to ensure that memory is released when necessary.

However, IMHO it would be better to consider a bespoke solution - only you really know how long you need to keep the objects around, so designing appropriate housekeeping code for your situation is usually the best approach.

Angular + Material - How to refresh a data source (mat-table)

I achieved a good solution using two resources:

refreshing both dataSource and paginator:

this.dataSource.data = this.users;
this.dataSource.connect().next(this.users);
this.paginator._changePageSize(this.paginator.pageSize);

where for example dataSource is defined here:

    users: User[];
    ...
    dataSource = new MatTableDataSource(this.users);
    ...
    this.dataSource.paginator = this.paginator;
    ...

SQL Server : login success but "The database [dbName] is not accessible. (ObjectExplorer)"

Really stupid solution but I'll add it here in case anyone gets here from a Google search.

I'd just restarted the SQL service and was getting this error and in my case, just waiting 10 minutes was enough and it was fine again. Seems this is the error you get when it is just starting up.

Change column type in pandas

How about creating two dataframes, each with different data types for their columns, and then appending them together?

d1 = pd.DataFrame(columns=[ 'float_column' ], dtype=float)
d1 = d1.append(pd.DataFrame(columns=[ 'string_column' ], dtype=str))

Results

In[8}:  d1.dtypes
Out[8]:
float_column     float64
string_column     object
dtype: object

After the dataframe is created, you can populate it with floating point variables in the 1st column, and strings (or any data type you desire) in the 2nd column.

concat scope variables into string in angular directive expression

It's not very clear what the problem is and what you are trying to accomplish from the code you posted, but I'll take a stab at it.

In general, I suggest calling a function on ng-click like so:

<a ng-click="navigateToPath()">click me</a>

obj.val1 & obj.val2 should be available on your controller's $scope, you dont need to pass those into a function from the markup.

then, in your controller:

$scope.navigateToPath = function(){
   var path = '/somePath/' + $scope.obj.val1 + '/' + $scope.obj.val2; //dont need the '#'
   $location.path(path)
}

TSQL PIVOT MULTIPLE COLUMNS

Since you want to pivot multiple columns of data, I would first suggest unpivoting the result, score and grade columns so you don't have multiple columns but you will have multiple rows.

Depending on your version of SQL Server you can use the UNPIVOT function or CROSS APPLY. The syntax to unpivot the data will be similar to:

select ratio, col, value
from GRAND_TOTALS
cross apply
(
  select 'result', cast(result as varchar(10)) union all
  select 'score', cast(score as varchar(10)) union all
  select 'grade', grade
) c(col, value)

See SQL Fiddle with Demo. Once the data has been unpivoted, then you can apply the PIVOT function:

select ratio = col,
  [current ratio], [gearing ratio], [performance ratio], total
from
(
  select ratio, col, value
  from GRAND_TOTALS
  cross apply
  (
    select 'result', cast(result as varchar(10)) union all
    select 'score', cast(score as varchar(10)) union all
    select 'grade', grade
  ) c(col, value)
) d
pivot
(
  max(value)
  for ratio in ([current ratio], [gearing ratio], [performance ratio], total)
) piv;

See SQL Fiddle with Demo. This will give you the result:

|  RATIO | CURRENT RATIO | GEARING RATIO | PERFORMANCE RATIO |     TOTAL |
|--------|---------------|---------------|-------------------|-----------|
|  grade |          Good |          Good |      Satisfactory |      Good |
| result |       1.29400 |       0.33840 |           0.04270 |    (null) |
|  score |      60.00000 |      70.00000 |          50.00000 | 180.00000 |

postgresql - add boolean column to table set default

Just for future reference, if you already have a boolean column and you just want to add a default do:

ALTER TABLE users
  ALTER COLUMN priv_user SET DEFAULT false;

Qt: resizing a QLabel containing a QPixmap while keeping its aspect ratio

In order to change the label size you can select an appropriate size policy for the label like expanding or minimum expanding.

You can scale the pixmap by keeping its aspect ratio every time it changes:

QPixmap p; // load pixmap
// get label dimensions
int w = label->width();
int h = label->height();

// set a scaled pixmap to a w x h window keeping its aspect ratio
label->setPixmap(p.scaled(w,h,Qt::KeepAspectRatio));

There are two places where you should add this code:

  • When the pixmap is updated
  • In the resizeEvent of the widget that contains the label

What is the best way to merge mp3 files?

Instead of using the command line to do

copy /b 1.mp3+2.mp3 3.mp3

you could instead use "The Rename" to rename all the MP3 fragments into a series of names that are in order based on some kind of counter. Then you could just use the same command line format but change it a little to:

copy /b *.mp3 output_name.mp3

That is assuming you ripped all of these fragment MP3's at the same time and they have the same audio settings. Worked great for me when I was converting an Audio book I had in .aa to a single .mp3. I had to burn all the .aa files to 9 CD's then rip all 9 CD's and then I was left with about 90 mp3's. Really a pain in the a55.

How to simulate target="_blank" in JavaScript

This might help you to open all page links:

$(".myClass").each(
     function(i,e){
        window.open(e, '_blank');
     }
);

It will open every <a href="" class="myClass"></a> link items to another tab like you would had clicked each one.

You only need to paste it to browser console. jQuery framework required

Javascript: formatting a rounded number to N decimals

That's not a rounding ploblem, that is a display problem. A number doesn't contain information about significant digits; the value 2 is the same as 2.0000000000000. It's when you turn the rounded value into a string that you have make it display a certain number of digits.

You could just add zeroes after the number, something like:

var s = number.toString();
if (s.indexOf('.') == -1) s += '.';
while (s.length < s.indexOf('.') + 4) s += '0';

(Note that this assumes that the regional settings of the client uses period as decimal separator, the code needs some more work to function for other settings.)

"The POM for ... is missing, no dependency information available" even though it exists in Maven Repository

In my case the reason was since the remote repo artifact (non-central) had dependencies from the Maven Central in the .pom file, and the older version of mvn (older than 3.6.0) was used. So, it tried to check the Maven Central artifacts mentioned in the remote repo's .pom for the specific artifact I've added to my dependencies and faced the Maven Central http access issue behind the scenes (I believe the same as described there: Maven dependencies are failing with a 501 error - that is about using https access to Maven Central by default and prohibiting the http access).

Using more recent Maven (from 3.1 to 3.6.0) made it use https to check Maven Central repo dependencies mentioned in the .pom files of the remote repositories and I no longer face the issue.

PostgreSQL next value of the sequences?

I stumbled upon this question b/c I was trying to find the next sequence value by table. This didn't answer my question however this is how its done, and it may help those looking for the sequence value not by name but by table:

SELECT nextval(pg_get_serial_sequence('<your_table>', 'id')) AS new_id;

Hope it helps :)

Getting query parameters from react-router hash fragment

The above answers won't work in react-router v4. Here's what I did to solve the problem -

First Install query-string which will be required for parsing.

npm install -save query-string

Now in the routed component you can access the un-parsed query string like this

this.props.location.search

You can cross check it by logging in the console.

Finally parse to access the query parameters

const queryString = require('query-string');
var parsed = queryString.parse(this.props.location.search);
console.log(parsed.param); // replace param with your own

So if query is like ?hello=world

console.log(parsed.hello) will log world

How to get response as String using retrofit without using GSON or any other library in android

** Update ** A scalars converter has been added to retrofit that allows for a String response with less ceremony than my original answer below.

Example interface --

public interface GitHubService {
    @GET("/users/{user}")
    Call<String> listRepos(@Path("user") String user);
}

Add the ScalarsConverterFactory to your retrofit builder. Note: If using ScalarsConverterFactory and another factory, add the scalars factory first.

Retrofit retrofit = new Retrofit.Builder()
    .baseUrl(BASE_URL)
    .addConverterFactory(ScalarsConverterFactory.create())
    // add other factories here, if needed.
    .build();

You will also need to include the scalars converter in your gradle file --

implementation 'com.squareup.retrofit2:converter-scalars:2.1.0'

--- Original Answer (still works, just more code) ---

I agree with @CommonsWare that it seems a bit odd that you want to intercept the request to process the JSON yourself. Most of the time the POJO has all the data you need, so no need to mess around in JSONObject land. I suspect your specific problem might be better solved using a custom gson TypeAdapter or a retrofit Converter if you need to manipulate the JSON. However, retrofit provides more the just JSON parsing via Gson. It also manages a lot of the other tedious tasks involved in REST requests. Just because you don't want to use one of the features, doesn't mean you have to throw the whole thing out. There are times you just want to get the raw stream, so here is how to do it -

First, if you are using Retrofit 2, you should start using the Call API. Instead of sending an object to convert as the type parameter, use ResponseBody from okhttp --

public interface GitHubService {
    @GET("/users/{user}")
    Call<ResponseBody> listRepos(@Path("user") String user);
}

then you can create and execute your call --

GitHubService service = retrofit.create(GitHubService.class);
Call<ResponseBody> result = service.listRepos(username);
result.enqueue(new Callback<ResponseBody>() {
    @Override
    public void onResponse(Response<ResponseBody> response) {
        try {
            System.out.println(response.body().string());
        } catch (IOException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
    }

    @Override
    public void onFailure(Throwable t) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }
});

Note The code above calls string() on the response object, which reads the entire response into a String. If you are passing the body off to something that can ingest streams, you can call charStream() instead. See the ResponseBody docs.

How to create query parameters in Javascript?

I have improved the function of shog9`s to handle array values

function encodeQueryData(data) {
    const ret = [];
    for (let d in data) {
        if (typeof data[d] === 'object' || typeof data[d] === 'array') {
            for (let arrD in data[d]) {
                ret.push(`${encodeURIComponent(d)}[]=${encodeURIComponent(data[d][arrD])}`)
            }
        } else if (typeof data[d] === 'null' || typeof data[d] === 'undefined') {
            ret.push(encodeURIComponent(d))
        } else {
            ret.push(`${encodeURIComponent(d)}=${encodeURIComponent(data[d])}`)
        }

    }
    return ret.join('&');
}

Example

let data = {
  user: 'Mark'
  fruits: ['apple', 'banana']
}

encodeQueryData(data) // user=Mark&fruits[]=apple&fruits[]=banana

Best practice to validate null and empty collection in Java

That is the best way to check it. You could write a helper method to do it:

public static boolean isNullOrEmpty( final Collection< ? > c ) {
    return c == null || c.isEmpty();
}

public static boolean isNullOrEmpty( final Map< ?, ? > m ) {
    return m == null || m.isEmpty();
}

How to declare a global variable in JavaScript

Declare the variable outside of functions

}

How do I debug "Error: spawn ENOENT" on node.js?

in windows, simply adding shell: true option solved my problem:

incorrect:

const { spawn } = require('child_process');
const child = spawn('dir');

correct:

const { spawn } = require('child_process');
const child = spawn('dir', [], {shell: true});

MySQL Like multiple values

Your query should be SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE find_in_set(interests, "sports,pub")>0

What I understand is that you store the interests in one field of your table, which is a misconception. You should definitively have an "interest" table.

Given URL is not permitted by the application configuration

Sometimes this error occurs for old javascript sdk. If you save locally javascript file. Update it. I prefer to load it form the facebook server all the time.

Remove duplicates from a dataframe in PySpark

if you have a data frame and want to remove all duplicates -- with reference to duplicates in a specific column (called 'colName'):

count before dedupe:

df.count()

do the de-dupe (convert the column you are de-duping to string type):

from pyspark.sql.functions import col
df = df.withColumn('colName',col('colName').cast('string'))

df.drop_duplicates(subset=['colName']).count()

can use a sorted groupby to check to see that duplicates have been removed:

df.groupBy('colName').count().toPandas().set_index("count").sort_index(ascending=False)

Split large string in n-size chunks in JavaScript

What about this small piece of code:

function splitME(str, size) {

Bound method error

Your helpful comments led me to the following solution:

    def __init__(self, sentences):
        self.sentences = sentences

    def parser(self):
        self.word_list = self.sentences.split()

        word_list = self.word_list
        return word_list

    def sort_word_list(self):
        self.sorted_word_list = sorted(self.sentences.split())
        sorted_word_list = self.sorted_word_list
        return sorted_word_list

    def get_num_words(self):
        self.num_words = len(self.word_list)
        num_words = self.num_words
        return num_words

test = Word_Parser("mary had a little lamb")
test.parser()
test.sort_word_list()
test.get_num_words()
print test.word_list
print test.sorted_word_list
print test.num_words

and returns: ['mary', 'had', 'a', 'little', 'lamb'] ['a', 'had', 'lamb', 'little', 'mary'] 5

Go to "next" iteration in JavaScript forEach loop

You can simply return if you want to skip the current iteration.

Since you're in a function, if you return before doing anything else, then you have effectively skipped execution of the code below the return statement.

Getting pids from ps -ef |grep keyword

You can use pgrep as long as you include the -f options. That makes pgrep match keywords in the whole command (including arguments) instead of just the process name.

pgrep -f keyword

From the man page:

-f       The pattern is normally only matched against the process name. When -f is set, the full command line is used.

If you really want to avoid pgrep, try:

ps -ef | awk '/[k]eyword/{print $2}'

Note the [] around the first letter of the keyword. That's a useful trick to avoid matching the awk command itself.

Can I get JSON to load into an OrderedDict?

The normally used load command will work if you specify the object_pairs_hook parameter:

import json
from  collections import OrderedDict
with open('foo.json', 'r') as fp:
    metrics_types = json.load(fp, object_pairs_hook=OrderedDict)

stop service in android

To stop the service we must use the method stopService():

  Intent myService = new Intent(MainActivity.this, BackgroundSoundService.class);
  //startService(myService);
  stopService(myService);

then the method onDestroy() in the service is called:

  @Override
    public void onDestroy() {

        Log.i(TAG, "onCreate() , service stopped...");
    }

Here is a complete example including how to stop the service.

1 << ADDR_WIDTH means 1 will be shifted 8 bits to the left and will be assigned as the value for RAM_DEPTH.

In addition, 1 << ADDR_WIDTH also means 2^ADDR_WIDTH.

Given ADDR_WIDTH = 8, then 2^8 = 256 and that will be the value for RAM_DEPTH

How to change ProgressBar's progress indicator color in Android

simply add android:indeterminateTint="@color/colorPrimary" to your progressBar

Example:

<ProgressBar

    style="?android:attr/progressBarStyle"
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:indeterminateTint="@color/colorPrimary"/>

in case of progressBarStyleHorizontal change android:progressTint="@color/colorPrimary"

Example:

 <ProgressBar
    android:id="@+id/progressBar"
    style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal"
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:progress="50"
    android:progressTint="@color/colorPrimary" />

How to write a SQL DELETE statement with a SELECT statement in the WHERE clause?

You need to identify the primary key in TableA in order to delete the correct record. The primary key may be a single column or a combination of several columns that uniquely identifies a row in the table. If there is no primary key, then the ROWID pseudo column may be used as the primary key.

DELETE FROM tableA
WHERE ROWID IN
  ( SELECT q.ROWID
    FROM tableA q
      INNER JOIN tableB u on (u.qlabel = q.entityrole AND u.fieldnum = q.fieldnum)
    WHERE (LENGTH(q.memotext) NOT IN (8,9,10) OR q.memotext NOT LIKE '%/%/%')
      AND (u.FldFormat = 'Date'));

Understanding implicit in Scala

A very basic example of Implicits in scala.

Implicit parameters:

val value = 10
implicit val multiplier = 3
def multiply(implicit by: Int) = value * by
val result = multiply // implicit parameter wiil be passed here
println(result) // It will print 30 as a result

Note: Here multiplier will be implicitly passed into the function multiply. Missing parameters to the function call are looked up by type in the current scope meaning that code will not compile if there is no implicit variable of type Int in the scope.

Implicit conversions:

implicit def convert(a: Double): Int = a.toInt
val res = multiply(2.0) // Type conversions with implicit functions
println(res)  // It will print 20 as a result

Note: When we call multiply function passing a double value, the compiler will try to find the conversion implicit function in the current scope, which converts Int to Double (As function multiply accept Int parameter). If there is no implicit convert function then the compiler will not compile the code.

How to fix Uncaught InvalidValueError: setPosition: not a LatLng or LatLngLiteral: in property lat: not a number?

You're probably passing null value if you're loading the coordinates dynamically, set a check before you call the map loader ie: if(mapCords){loadMap}

How to re-sign the ipa file?

  1. Unzip the .ipa file by changing its extension with .zip
  2. Go to Payload. You will find .app file
  3. Right click the .app file and click Show package contents
  4. Delete the _CodeSigned folder
  5. Replace the embedded.mobileprovision file with the new provision profile
  6. Go to KeyChain Access and make sure the certificate associated with the provisional profile is present
  7. Execute the below mentioned command: /usr/bin/codesign -f -s "iPhone Distribution: Certificate Name" --resource-rules "Payload/Application.app/ResourceRules.plist" "Payload/Application.app"

  8. Now zip the Payload folder again and change the .zip extension with .ipa

Hope this helpful.

CommandError: You must set settings.ALLOWED_HOSTS if DEBUG is False

From documentation: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.10/ref/settings/

if DEBUG is False, you also need to properly set the ALLOWED_HOSTS setting. Failing to do so will result in all requests being returned as ā€œBad Request (400)ā€.

And from here: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.10/ref/settings/#std:setting-ALLOWED_HOSTS

I am using something like this:

ALLOWED_HOSTS = ['localhost', '127.0.0.1', 'www.mysite.com']

How to show validation message below each textbox using jquery?

You could put static elements after the fields and show them, or you could inject the validation message dynamically. See the below example for how to inject dynamically.

This example also follows the best practice of setting focus to the blank field so user can easily correct the issue.

Note that you could easily genericize this to work with any label & field (for required fields anyway), instead of my example which specifically codes each validation.

Your fiddle is updated, see here: jsfiddle

The code:

$('form').on('submit', function (e) {
    var focusSet = false;
    if (!$('#email').val()) {
        if ($("#email").parent().next(".validation").length == 0) // only add if not added
        {
            $("#email").parent().after("<div class='validation' style='color:red;margin-bottom: 20px;'>Please enter email address</div>");
        }
        e.preventDefault(); // prevent form from POST to server
        $('#email').focus();
        focusSet = true;
    } else {
        $("#email").parent().next(".validation").remove(); // remove it
    }
    if (!$('#password').val()) {
        if ($("#password").parent().next(".validation").length == 0) // only add if not added
        {
            $("#password").parent().after("<div class='validation' style='color:red;margin-bottom: 20px;'>Please enter password</div>");
        }
        e.preventDefault(); // prevent form from POST to server
        if (!focusSet) {
            $("#password").focus();
        }
    } else {
        $("#password").parent().next(".validation").remove(); // remove it
    }
});

The CSS:

    .validation
    {
      color: red;
      margin-bottom: 20px;
    }

Connecting client to server using Socket.io

You need to make sure that you add forward slash before your link to socket.io:

<script src="/socket.io/socket.io.js"></script>

Then in the view/controller just do:

var socket = io.connect()

That should solve your problem.

How do you comment an MS-access Query?

In the query design:

  • add a column
  • enter your comment (in quotes) in the field
  • uncheck Show
  • sort in assending.

Note:

If you don't sort, the field will be removed by access. So, make sure you've unchecked show and sorted the column.

Retrieving values from nested JSON Object

for (Map.Entry in jsonChildOBject.entrySet()) {
    System.out.println("Key = " + entry.getKey() + ", Value = " + entry.getValue());
}

How is a non-breaking space represented in a JavaScript string?

Remember that .text() strips out markup, thus I don't believe you're going to find &nbsp; in a non-markup result.

Made in to an answer....

var p = $('<p>').html('&nbsp;');
if (p.text() == String.fromCharCode(160) && p.text() == '\xA0')
    alert('Character 160');

Shows an alert, as the ASCII equivalent of the markup is returned instead.

When use ResponseEntity<T> and @RestController for Spring RESTful applications

According to official documentation: Creating REST Controllers with the @RestController annotation

@RestController is a stereotype annotation that combines @ResponseBody and @Controller. More than that, it gives more meaning to your Controller and also may carry additional semantics in future releases of the framework.

It seems that it's best to use @RestController for clarity, but you can also combine it with ResponseEntity for flexibility when needed (According to official tutorial and the code here and my question to confirm that).

For example:

@RestController
public class MyController {

    @GetMapping(path = "/test")
    @ResponseStatus(HttpStatus.OK)
    public User test() {
        User user = new User();
        user.setName("Name 1");

        return user;
    }

}

is the same as:

@RestController
public class MyController {

    @GetMapping(path = "/test")
    public ResponseEntity<User> test() {
        User user = new User();
        user.setName("Name 1");

        HttpHeaders responseHeaders = new HttpHeaders();
        // ...
        return new ResponseEntity<>(user, responseHeaders, HttpStatus.OK);
    }

}

This way, you can define ResponseEntity only when needed.

Update

You can use this:

    return ResponseEntity.ok().headers(responseHeaders).body(user);

How to find the path of the local git repository when I am possibly in a subdirectory

git rev-parse --show-toplevel

could be enough if executed within a git repo.
From git rev-parse man page:

--show-toplevel

Show the absolute path of the top-level directory.

For older versions (before 1.7.x), the other options are listed in "Is there a way to get the git root directory in one command?":

git rev-parse --git-dir

That would give the path of the .git directory.

The OP mentions:

git rev-parse --show-prefix

which returns the local path under the git repo root. (empty if you are at the git repo root)

Note: for simply checking if one is in a git repo, I find the following command quite expressive:

git rev-parse --is-inside-work-tree

And yes, if you need to check if you are in a .git git-dir folder:

git rev-parse --is-inside-git-dir

How to do what head, tail, more, less, sed do in Powershell?

Here are the built-in ways to do head and tail. Don't use pipes because if you have a large file, it will be extremely slow. Using these built-in options will be extremely fast even for huge files.

gc log.txt -head 10
gc log.txt -tail 10
gc log.txt -tail 10 -wait # equivalent to tail -f

How to import an existing project from GitHub into Android Studio

Unzip the github project to a folder. Open Android Studio. Go to File -> New -> Import Project. Then choose the specific project you want to import and then click Next->Finish. It will build the Gradle automatically and'll be ready for you to use.

P.S: In some versions of Android Studio a certain error occurs-
error:package android.support.v4.app does not exist.
To fix it go to Gradle Scripts->build.gradle(Module:app) and the add the dependecies:

dependencies {
    compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
    compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:21.0.3'
}

Android Facebook style slide

Can't comment on the answer given by @Paul Grime yet, anyway I've submitted on his github project the fix for the flicker problem....

I'll post the fix here, maybe someone needs it. You just need to add two lines of code. The first one below the anim.setAnimationListener call:

anim.setFillAfter(true);

And the second one after app.layout() call:

app.clearAnimation();

Hope this helps :)

Convert datetime value into string

Try this:

concat(left(datefield,10),left(timefield,8))
  • 10 char on date field based on full date yyyy-MM-dd.

  • 8 char on time field based on full time hh:mm:ss.

It depends on the format you want it. normally you can use script above and you can concat another field or string as you want it.

Because actually date and time field tread as string if you read it. But of course you will got error while update or insert it.

Angular 2 execute script after template render

Actually ngAfterViewInit() will initiate only once when the component initiate.

If you really want a event triggers after the HTML element renter on the screen then you can use ngAfterViewChecked()

AngularJS : Prevent error $digest already in progress when calling $scope.$apply()

This is my utils service:

angular.module('myApp', []).service('Utils', function Utils($timeout) {
    var Super = this;

    this.doWhenReady = function(scope, callback, args) {
        if(!scope.$$phase) {
            if (args instanceof Array)
                callback.apply(scope, Array.prototype.slice.call(args))
            else
                callback();
        }
        else {
            $timeout(function() {
                Super.doWhenReady(scope, callback, args);
            }, 250);
        }
    };
});

and this is an example for it's usage:

angular.module('myApp').controller('MyCtrl', function ($scope, Utils) {
    $scope.foo = function() {
        // some code here . . .
    };

    Utils.doWhenReady($scope, $scope.foo);

    $scope.fooWithParams = function(p1, p2) {
        // some code here . . .
    };

    Utils.doWhenReady($scope, $scope.fooWithParams, ['value1', 'value2']);
};

How can I link a photo in a Facebook album to a URL

You can only do this to you own photos. Due to recent upgrades, Facebook has made this more difficult. To do this, go to the album page where the photo is that you want to link to. You should see thumbnail images of the photos in the album. Hold down the "Control" or "Command" key while clicking the photo that you wish to link to. A new browser tab will open with the picture you clicked. Under the picture there is a URL that you can send to others to share the photo. You might have to have the privacy settings for that album set so that anyone can see the photos in that album. If you don't the person who clicks the link may have to be signed in and also be your "friend."

Here is an example of one of my photos: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=43764341&l=0d8a526a64&id=25502298 -it's my cat.

Update:

The link below the photo no longer appears. Once you open the photo in a new tab you can right click the photo (Control+click for Mac users) and click "Copy Image URL" or similar and then share this link. Based on my tests the person who clicks the link doesn't need to use Facebook. The photo will load without the Facebook interface. Like this - http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/189088_867367406856_25502298_43764341_1304758_n.jpg

Split string and get first value only

These are the two options I managed to build, not having the luxury of working with var type, nor with additional variables on the line:

string f = "aS.".Substring(0, "aS.".IndexOf("S"));
Console.WriteLine(f);

string s = "aS.".Split("S".ToCharArray(),StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)[0];
Console.WriteLine(s);

This is what it gets:

How to use Fiddler to monitor WCF service

You need to add this in your web.config

<system.net>
  <defaultProxy>
    <proxy bypassonlocal="False" usesystemdefault="True" proxyaddress="http://127.0.0.1:8888" />
  </defaultProxy>
</system.net>
  1. then Start Fiddler on the WEBSERVER machine.
  2. Click Tools | Fiddler Options => Connections => adjust the port as 8888.(allow remote if you need that)
  3. Ok, then from file menu, capture the traffic.

That's all, but don't forget to remove the web.config lines after closing the fiddler, because if you don't it will make an error.

How to retrieve a user environment variable in CMake (Windows)

Getting variables into your CMake script

You can pass a variable on the line with the cmake invocation:

FOO=1 cmake

or by exporting a variable in BASH:

export FOO=1

Then you can pick it up in a cmake script using:

$ENV{FOO}

Can I pass parameters in computed properties in Vue.Js

Yes methods are there for using params. Like answers stated above, in your example it's best to use methods since execution is very light.

Only for reference, in a situation where the method is complex and cost is high, you can cache the results like so:

data() {
    return {
        fullNameCache:{}
    };
}

methods: {
    fullName(salut) {
        if (!this.fullNameCache[salut]) {
            this.fullNameCache[salut] = salut + ' ' + this.firstName + ' ' + this.lastName;
        }
        return this.fullNameCache[salut];
    }
}

understanding private setters

I think a few folks have danced around this, but for me, the value of private setters is that you can encapsulate the behavior of a property, even within a class. As abhishek noted, if you want to fire a property changed event every time a property changes, but you don't want a property to be read/write to the public, then you either must use a private setter, or you must raise the event anywhere you modify the backing field. The latter is error prone because you might forget. Relatedly, if updating a property value results in some calculation being performed or another field being modified, or a lazy initialization of something, then you will also want to wrap that up in the private setter rather than having to remember to do it everywhere you make use of the backing field.

How to increase number of threads in tomcat thread pool?

From Tomcat Documentation

maxConnections When this number has been reached, the server will accept, but not process, one further connection. once the limit has been reached, the operating system may still accept connections based on the acceptCount setting. (The maximum queue length for incoming connection requests when all possible request processing threads are in use. Any requests received when the queue is full will be refused. The default value is 100.) For BIO the default is the value of maxThreads unless an Executor is used in which case the default will be the value of maxThreads from the executor. For NIO and NIO2 the default is 10000. For APR/native, the default is 8192. Note that for APR/native on Windows, the configured value will be reduced to the highest multiple of 1024 that is less than or equal to maxConnections. This is done for performance reasons.

maxThreads
The maximum number of request processing threads to be created by this Connector, which therefore determines the maximum number of simultaneous requests that can be handled. If not specified, this attribute is set to 200. If an executor is associated with this connector, this attribute is ignored as the connector will execute tasks using the executor rather than an internal thread pool.

How to make spring inject value into a static field

You have two possibilities:

  1. non-static setter for static property/field;
  2. using org.springframework.beans.factory.config.MethodInvokingFactoryBean to invoke a static setter.

In the first option you have a bean with a regular setter but instead setting an instance property you set the static property/field.

public void setTheProperty(Object value) {
    foo.bar.Class.STATIC_VALUE = value;
}

but in order to do this you need to have an instance of a bean that will expose this setter (its more like an workaround).

In the second case it would be done as follows:

<bean class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.MethodInvokingFactoryBean">
    <property name="staticMethod" value="foo.bar.Class.setTheProperty"/>
    <property name="arguments">
        <list>
            <ref bean="theProperty"/>
        </list>
   </property>
</bean>

On you case you will add a new setter on the Utils class:

public static setDataBaseAttr(Properties p)

and in your context you will configure it with the approach exemplified above, more or less like:

<bean class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.MethodInvokingFactoryBean">
    <property name="staticMethod" value="foo.bar.Utils.setDataBaseAttr"/>
    <property name="arguments">
        <list>
            <ref bean="dataBaseAttr"/>
        </list>
   </property>
</bean>

How Big can a Python List Get?

12000 elements is nothing in Python... and actually the number of elements can go as far as the Python interpreter has memory on your system.

invalid use of non-static data member

The nested class doesn't know about the outer class, and protected doesn't help. You'll have to pass some actual reference to objects of the nested class type. You could store a foo*, but perhaps a reference to the integer is enough:

class Outer
{
    int n;

public:
    class Inner
    {
        int & a;
    public:
        Inner(int & b) : a(b) { }
        int & get() { return a; }
    };

    // ...  for example:

    Inner inn;
    Outer() : inn(n) { }
};

Now you can instantiate inner classes like Inner i(n); and call i.get().

Difference between xcopy and robocopy

Robocopy replaces XCopy in the newer versions of windows

  1. Uses Mirroring, XCopy does not
  2. Has a /RH option to allow a set time for the copy to run
  3. Has a /MON:n option to check differences in files
  4. Copies over more file attributes than XCopy

Yes i agree with Mark Setchell, They are both crap. (brought to you by Microsoft)

UPDATE:

XCopy return codes:

0 - Files were copied without error.
1 - No files were found to copy.
2 - The user pressed CTRL+C to terminate xcopy. enough memory or disk space, or you entered an invalid drive name or invalid syntax on the command line.
5 - Disk write error occurred.

Robocopy returns codes:

0 - No errors occurred, and no copying was done. The source and destination directory trees are completely synchronized.
1 - One or more files were copied successfully (that is, new files have arrived).
2 - Some Extra files or directories were detected. No files were copied Examine the output log for details.
3 - (2+1) Some files were copied. Additional files were present. No failure was encountered.
4 - Some Mismatched files or directories were detected. Examine the output log. Some housekeeping may be needed.
5 - (4+1) Some files were copied. Some files were mismatched. No failure was encountered.
6 - (4+2) Additional files and mismatched files exist. No files were copied and no failures were encountered. This means that the files already exist in the destination directory
7 - (4+1+2) Files were copied, a file mismatch was present, and additional files were present.
8 - Some files or directories could not be copied (copy errors occurred and the retry limit was exceeded). Check these errors further.
16 - Serious error. Robocopy did not copy any files. Either a usage error or an error due to insufficient access privileges on the source or destination directories.

There is more details on Robocopy return values here: http://ss64.com/nt/robocopy-exit.html

How to click on hidden element in Selenium WebDriver?

overflow:hidden

could possibly be shown as "Plastic Spir..." or similar. So it is possible, that this linkText indeed is non existent.

How I can get web page's content and save it into the string variable

I've run into issues with Webclient.Downloadstring before. If you do, you can try this:

WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com");
WebResponse response = request.GetResponse();
Stream data = response.GetResponseStream();
string html = String.Empty;
using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(data))
{
    html = sr.ReadToEnd();
}

Difference between 'struct' and 'typedef struct' in C++?

There is a difference, but subtle. Look at it this way: struct Foo introduces a new type. The second one creates an alias called Foo (and not a new type) for an unnamed struct type.

7.1.3 The typedef specifier

1 [...]

A name declared with the typedef specifier becomes a typedef-name. Within the scope of its declaration, a typedef-name is syntactically equivalent to a keyword and names the type associated with the identifier in the way described in Clause 8. A typedef-name is thus a synonym for another type. A typedef-name does not introduce a new type the way a class declaration (9.1) or enum declaration does.

8 If the typedef declaration defines an unnamed class (or enum), the first typedef-name declared by the declaration to be that class type (or enum type) is used to denote the class type (or enum type) for linkage purposes only (3.5). [ Example:

typedef struct { } *ps, S; // S is the class name for linkage purposes

So, a typedef always is used as an placeholder/synonym for another type.

How to check if an element is in an array

Use this extension:

extension Array {
    func contains<T where T : Equatable>(obj: T) -> Bool {
        return self.filter({$0 as? T == obj}).count > 0
    }
}

Use as:

array.contains(1)

Updated for Swift 2/3

Note that as of Swift 3 (or even 2), the extension is no longer necessary as the global contains function has been made into a pair of extension method on Array, which allow you to do either of:

let a = [ 1, 2, 3, 4 ]

a.contains(2) // => true, only usable if Element : Equatable

a.contains { $0 < 1 }   // => false

Add column in dataframe from list

First let's create the dataframe you had, I'll ignore columns B and C as they are not relevant.

df = pd.DataFrame({'A': [0, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 6,5]})

And the mapping that you desire:

mapping = dict(enumerate([2,5,6,8,12,16,26,32]))

df['D'] = df['A'].map(mapping)

Done!

print df

Output:

   A   D
0  0   2
1  4  12
2  5  16
3  6  26
4  7  32
5  7  32
6  6  26
7  5  16

Opening Android Settings programmatically

I used the code from the most upvoted answer:

startActivityForResult(new Intent(android.provider.Settings.ACTION_SETTINGS), 0);

It opens the device settings in the same window, thus got the users of my android application (finnmglas/Launcher) for android stuck in there.

The answer for 2020 and beyond (in Kotlin):

startActivity(Intent(Settings.ACTION_SETTINGS))

It works in my app, should also be working in yours without any unwanted consequences.

What is the shortcut to Auto import all in Android Studio?

On Windows, highlight the code that has classes which need to be resolved and hit Alt+Enter

no matching function for call to ' '

You are trying to pass pointers (which you do not delete, thus leaking memory) where references are needed. You do not really need pointers here:

Complex secondComplexNumber(31, 19);

cout << "Numarul complex este: " << firstComplexNumber << endl;
// ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ No need to dereference now

// ...

Complex::distanta(firstComplexNumber, secondComplexNumber);

Tensorflow 2

To get the graph in Tensorflow 2, instead of tf.get_default_graph() you need to instantiate a tf.function first and access the graph attribute, for example:

graph = func.get_concrete_function().graph

where func is a tf.function

Using context in a fragment

Always use the getActivity() method to get the context of your attached activity, but always remember one thing: Fragments are slightly unstable and getActivity returns null some times, so for that, always check the isAdded() method of fragment before getting context by getActivity().

Make just one slide different size in Powerpoint

Although you cannot use different sized slides in one PowerPoint file, for the actual presentation you can link several different files together to create a presentation that has different slide sizes.

The process to do so is as follows:

  1. Create the two Powerpoints (with your desired slide dimensions)
    • They need to be properly filled in to have linkable objects and selectable slides
  2. Select an object in the main PowerPoint to act as the hyperlink
  3. Go to "Insert -> Links -> Action"
  4. Select either the "Mouse Click" or the "Mouse Over" tab
  5. Select "Hyperlink to:" and in the drop down menu choose "other PowerPoint Presentation"
  6. Select the slide that you want to link to.
    • Any slide that isn't empty should appear in the "Hyperlink to Slide" dialog box
  7. Repeat the Process in the second Presentation to link back to your main presentation

How to update core-js to core-js@3 dependency?

Install

npm i core-js

Modular standard library for JavaScript. Includes polyfills for ECMAScript up to 2019: promises, symbols, collections, iterators, typed arrays, many other features, ECMAScript proposals, some cross-platform WHATWG / W3C features and proposals like URL. You can load only required features or use it without global namespace pollution.

Create or update mapping in elasticsearch

In later Elasticsearch versions (7.x), types were removed. Updating a mapping can becomes:

curl -XPUT "http://localhost:9200/test/_mapping" -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d'{
  "properties": {
    "new_geo_field": {
      "type": "geo_point"
    }
  }
}'

As others have pointed out, if the field exists, you typically have to reindex. There are exceptions, such as adding a new sub-field or changing analysis settings.

You can't "create a mapping", as the mapping is created with the index. Typically, you'd define the mapping when creating the index (or via index templates):

curl -XPUT "http://localhost:9200/test" -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d'{
  "mappings": {
    "properties": {
      "foo_field": {
        "type": "text"
      }
    }
  }
}'

That's because, in production at least, you'd want to avoid letting Elasticsearch "guess" new fields. Which is what generated this question: geo data was read as an array of long values.

How to make all controls resize accordingly proportionally when window is maximized?

Well, it's fairly simple to do.

On the window resize event handler, calculate how much the window has grown/shrunk, and use that fraction to adjust 1) Height, 2) Width, 3) Canvas.Top, 4) Canvas.Left properties of all the child controls inside the canvas.

Here's the code:

private void window1_SizeChanged(object sender, SizeChangedEventArgs e)
        {
            myCanvas.Width = e.NewSize.Width;
            myCanvas.Height = e.NewSize.Height;

            double xChange = 1, yChange = 1;

            if (e.PreviousSize.Width != 0)
            xChange = (e.NewSize.Width/e.PreviousSize.Width);

            if (e.PreviousSize.Height != 0)
            yChange = (e.NewSize.Height / e.PreviousSize.Height);

            foreach (FrameworkElement fe in myCanvas.Children )
            {
                /*because I didn't want to resize the grid I'm having inside the canvas in this particular instance. (doing that from xaml) */
                if (fe is Grid == false)
                {
                    fe.Height = fe.ActualHeight * yChange;
                    fe.Width = fe.ActualWidth * xChange;

                    Canvas.SetTop(fe, Canvas.GetTop(fe) * yChange);
                    Canvas.SetLeft(fe, Canvas.GetLeft(fe) * xChange);

                }
            }
        }

Convert Word doc, docx and Excel xls, xlsx to PDF with PHP

The easiest way to do this in my experience is with the Cloudmersive free native PHP library, just call convertDocumentDocxToPdf:

<?php
require_once(__DIR__ . '/vendor/autoload.php');

// Configure API key authorization: Apikey
$config = Swagger\Client\Configuration::getDefaultConfiguration()->setApiKey('Apikey', 'YOUR_API_KEY');

$apiInstance = new Swagger\Client\Api\ConvertDocumentApi(

    new GuzzleHttp\Client(),
    $config
);
$input_file = "/path/to/file.txt"; // \SplFileObject | Input file to perform the operation on.

try {
    $result = $apiInstance->convertDocumentDocxToPdf($input_file);
    print_r($result);
} catch (Exception $e) {
    echo 'Exception when calling ConvertDocumentApi->convertDocumentDocxToPdf: ', $e->getMessage(), PHP_EOL;
}
?>

Be sure to replace $input_file with the appropriate file path. You can also configure it to use a byte array if you prefer to do it that way. The result will be the bytes of the converted PDF file.

Why I cannot cout a string?

You do not have to reference std::cout or std::endl explicitly.
They are both included in the namespace std. using namespace std instead of using scope resolution operator :: every time makes is easier and cleaner.

#include<iostream>
#include<string>
using namespace std;

psycopg2: insert multiple rows with one query

New execute_values method in Psycopg 2.7:

data = [(1,'x'), (2,'y')]
insert_query = 'insert into t (a, b) values %s'
psycopg2.extras.execute_values (
    cursor, insert_query, data, template=None, page_size=100
)

The pythonic way of doing it in Psycopg 2.6:

data = [(1,'x'), (2,'y')]
records_list_template = ','.join(['%s'] * len(data))
insert_query = 'insert into t (a, b) values {}'.format(records_list_template)
cursor.execute(insert_query, data)

Explanation: If the data to be inserted is given as a list of tuples like in

data = [(1,'x'), (2,'y')]

then it is already in the exact required format as

  1. the values syntax of the insert clause expects a list of records as in

    insert into t (a, b) values (1, 'x'),(2, 'y')

  2. Psycopg adapts a Python tuple to a Postgresql record.

The only necessary work is to provide a records list template to be filled by psycopg

# We use the data list to be sure of the template length
records_list_template = ','.join(['%s'] * len(data))

and place it in the insert query

insert_query = 'insert into t (a, b) values {}'.format(records_list_template)

Printing the insert_query outputs

insert into t (a, b) values %s,%s

Now to the usual Psycopg arguments substitution

cursor.execute(insert_query, data)

Or just testing what will be sent to the server

print (cursor.mogrify(insert_query, data).decode('utf8'))

Output:

insert into t (a, b) values (1, 'x'),(2, 'y')

Read line with Scanner

next() and nextLine() methods are associated with Scanner and is used for getting String inputs. Their differences are...

next() can read the input only till the space. It can't read two words separated by space. Also, next() places the cursor in the same line after reading the input.

nextLine() reads input including space between the words (that is, it reads till the end of line \n). Once the input is read, nextLine() positions the cursor in the next line.

Read article :Difference between next() and nextLine()

Replace your while loop with :

while(r.hasNext()) {
                scan = r.next();
                System.out.println(scan);
                if(scan.length()==0) {continue;}
                //treatment
            }

Using hasNext() and next() methods will resolve the issue.

how to run vibrate continuously in iphone?

Thankfully, it's not possible to change the duration of the vibration. The only way to trigger the vibration is to play the kSystemSoundID_Vibrate as you have. If you really want to though, what you can do is to repeat the vibration indefinitely, resulting in a pulsing vibration effect instead of a long continuous one. To do this, you need to register a callback function that will get called when the vibration sound that you play is complete:

 AudioServicesAddSystemSoundCompletion (
        kSystemSoundID_Vibrate,
        NULL,
        NULL,
        MyAudioServicesSystemSoundCompletionProc,
        NULL
    );
    AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(kSystemSoundID_Vibrate);

Then you define your callback function to replay the vibrate sound again:

#pragma mark AudioService callback function prototypes
void MyAudioServicesSystemSoundCompletionProc (
   SystemSoundID  ssID,
   void           *clientData
);

#pragma mark AudioService callback function implementation

// Callback that gets called after we finish buzzing, so we
// can buzz a second time.
void MyAudioServicesSystemSoundCompletionProc (
   SystemSoundID  ssID,
   void           *clientData
) {
  if (iShouldKeepBuzzing) { // Your logic here...
      AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(kSystemSoundID_Vibrate);
  } else {
      //Unregister, so we don't get called again...
      AudioServicesRemoveSystemSoundCompletion(kSystemSoundID_Vibrate);
  }
}

How to add buttons like refresh and search in ToolBar in Android?

Try to do this:

getSupportActionBar().setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false);
getSupportActionBar().setDisplayHomeAsUpEnabled(false);
getSupportActionBar().setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false);

and if you made your custom toolbar (which i presume you did) then you can use the simplest way possible to do this:

toolbarTitle = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.toolbar_title);
toolbarSubTitle = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.toolbar_subtitle);
toolbarTitle.setText("Title");
toolbarSubTitle.setText("Subtitle");

Same goes for any other views you put in your toolbar. Hope it helps.

How to run functions in parallel?

You could use threading or multiprocessing.

Due to peculiarities of CPython, threading is unlikely to achieve true parallelism. For this reason, multiprocessing is generally a better bet.

Here is a complete example:

from multiprocessing import Process

def func1():
  print 'func1: starting'
  for i in xrange(10000000): pass
  print 'func1: finishing'

def func2():
  print 'func2: starting'
  for i in xrange(10000000): pass
  print 'func2: finishing'

if __name__ == '__main__':
  p1 = Process(target=func1)
  p1.start()
  p2 = Process(target=func2)
  p2.start()
  p1.join()
  p2.join()

The mechanics of starting/joining child processes can easily be encapsulated into a function along the lines of your runBothFunc:

def runInParallel(*fns):
  proc = []
  for fn in fns:
    p = Process(target=fn)
    p.start()
    proc.append(p)
  for p in proc:
    p.join()

runInParallel(func1, func2)

python numpy vector math

You can just use numpy arrays. Look at the numpy for matlab users page for a detailed overview of the pros and cons of arrays w.r.t. matrices.

As I mentioned in the comment, having to use the dot() function or method for mutiplication of vectors is the biggest pitfall. But then again, numpy arrays are consistent. All operations are element-wise. So adding or subtracting arrays and multiplication with a scalar all work as expected of vectors.

Edit2: Starting with Python 3.5 and numpy 1.10 you can use the @ infix-operator for matrix multiplication, thanks to pep 465.

Edit: Regarding your comment:

  1. Yes. The whole of numpy is based on arrays.

  2. Yes. linalg.norm(v) is a good way to get the length of a vector. But what you get depends on the possible second argument to norm! Read the docs.

  3. To normalize a vector, just divide it by the length you calculated in (2). Division of arrays by a scalar is also element-wise.

    An example in ipython:

    In [1]: import math

    In [2]: import numpy as np

    In [3]: a = np.array([4,2,7])

    In [4]: np.linalg.norm(a)
    Out[4]: 8.3066238629180749

    In [5]: math.sqrt(sum([n**2 for n in a]))
    Out[5]: 8.306623862918075

    In [6]: b = a/np.linalg.norm(a)

    In [7]: np.linalg.norm(b)
    Out[7]: 1.0

    Note that In [5] is an alternative way to calculate the length. In [6] shows normalizing the vector.

web-api POST body object always null

I just ran into this and was frustrating. My setup: The header was set to Content-Type: application/JSON and was passing the info from the body with JSON format, and was reading [FromBody] on the controller.

Everything was set up fine and I expect it to work, but the problem was with the JSON sent over. Since it was a complex structure, one of my classes which was defined 'Abstract' was not getting initialized and hence the values weren't assigned to the model properly. I removed the abstract keyword and it just worked..!!!

One tip, the way I could figure this out was to send data in parts to my controller and check when it becomes null... since it was a complex model I was appending one model at a time to my request params. Hope it helps someone who runs into this stupid issue.

    ) digits
) d3
WHERE CAST(d1.digit + d2.digit + d3.digit as int) < 365
ORDER BY d1.digit, d2.digit, d3.digit -- order not really needed here

Bonus points if you can give me a cross-platform syntax to re-use the digits table.

text-shadow : 0 0 0 #your-font-color;

ES6 class variable alternatives

The way I solved this, which is another option (if you have jQuery available), was to Define the fields in an old-school object and then extend the class with that object. I also didn't want to pepper the constructor with assignments, this appeared to be a neat solution.

function MyClassFields(){
    this.createdAt = new Date();
}

MyClassFields.prototype = {
    id : '',
    type : '',
    title : '',
    createdAt : null,
};

class MyClass {
    constructor() {
        $.extend(this,new MyClassFields());
    }
};

-- Update Following Bergi's comment.

No JQuery Version:

class SavedSearch  {
    constructor() {
        Object.assign(this,{
            id : '',
            type : '',
            title : '',
            createdAt: new Date(),
        });

    }
}

You still do end up with 'fat' constructor, but at least its all in one class and assigned in one hit.

EDIT #2: I've now gone full circle and am now assigning values in the constructor, e.g.

class SavedSearch  {
    constructor() {
        this.id = '';
        this.type = '';
        this.title = '';
        this.createdAt = new Date();
    }
}

Why? Simple really, using the above plus some JSdoc comments, PHPStorm was able to perform code completion on the properties. Assigning all the vars in one hit was nice, but the inability to code complete the properties, imo, isn't worth the (almost certainly minuscule) performance benefit.

How to set app icon for Electron / Atom Shell App

Please be aware that the examples for icon file path tend to assume that main.js is under the base directory. If the file is not in the base directory of the app, the path specification must account for that fact.

For example, if the main.js is under the src/ subdirectory, and the icon is under assets/icons/, this icon path specification will work:

icon: __dirname + "../assets/icons/icon.png"

Collision resolution in Java HashMap

There is no collision in your example. You use the same key, so the old value gets replaced with the new one. Now, if you used two keys that map to the same hash code, then you'd have a collision. But even in that case, HashMap would replace your value! If you want the values to be chained in case of a collision, you have to do it yourself, e.g. by using a list as a value.

Detect whether there is an Internet connection available on Android

I check for both Wi-fi and Mobile internet as follows...

private boolean haveNetworkConnection() {
    boolean haveConnectedWifi = false;
    boolean haveConnectedMobile = false;

    ConnectivityManager cm = (ConnectivityManager) getSystemService(Context.CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE);
    NetworkInfo[] netInfo = cm.getAllNetworkInfo();
    for (NetworkInfo ni : netInfo) {
        if (ni.getTypeName().equalsIgnoreCase("WIFI"))
            if (ni.isConnected())
                haveConnectedWifi = true;
        if (ni.getTypeName().equalsIgnoreCase("MOBILE"))
            if (ni.isConnected())
                haveConnectedMobile = true;
    }
    return haveConnectedWifi || haveConnectedMobile;
}

Obviously, It could easily be modified to check for individual specific connection types, e.g., if your app needs the potentially higher speeds of Wi-fi to work correctly etc.

Convert double to Int, rounded down

Another option either using Double or double is use Double.valueOf(double d).intValue();. Simple and clean

How to convert char* to wchar_t*?

In your example, wc is a local variable which will be deallocated when the function call ends. This puts you into undefined behavior territory.

The simple fix is this:

const wchar_t *GetWC(const char *c)
{
    const size_t cSize = strlen(c)+1;
    wchar_t* wc = new wchar_t[cSize];
    mbstowcs (wc, c, cSize);

    return wc;
}

Note that the calling code will then have to deallocate this memory, otherwise you will have a memory leak.

How to hide a button programmatically?

I would suggest you only use one button an change the text and the behavior on the button on demand. That's easier and cleaner than handling two buttons which are overlapping.

    }

    if(curText.equals("Stop")){
        ((TextView)v).setText("Play");
    }
 }

Windows Scipy Install: No Lapack/Blas Resources Found

Intel now provides a Python distribution for Linux / Windows / OS X for free called "Intel distribution for Python".

Its a complete Python distribution (e.g. python.exe is included in the package) which includes some pre-installed modules compiled against Intel's MKL (Math Kernel Library) and thus optimized for faster performance.

The distribution includes the modules NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, pandas, matplotlib, Numba, tbb, pyDAAL, Jupyter, and others. The drawback is a bit of lateness in upgrading to more recent versions of Python. For example as of today (1 May 2017) the distribution provides CPython 3.5 while the 3.6 version is already out. But if you don't need the new features they should be perfectly fine.

Unable to run Java GUI programs with Ubuntu

I stopped getting this exception when I installed default-jdk using apt. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr), and the problem appears to have been the result of having a "headless" Java installed. All I did was:

sudo apt-get install default-jdk

How do you resize a form to fit its content automatically?

This technique solved my problem:

In parent form:

frmEmployee frm = new frmEmployee();
frm.MdiParent = this;
frm.Dock = DockStyle.Fill;
frm.Show();

In the child form (Load event):

this.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized;

Resolve absolute path from relative path and/or file name

Without having to have another batch file to pass arguments to (and use the argument operators), you can use FOR /F:

FOR /F %%i IN ("..\relativePath") DO echo absolute path: %%~fi

where the i in %%~fi is the variable defined at /F %%i. eg. if you changed that to /F %%a then the last part would be %%~fa.

To do the same thing right at the command prompt (and not in a batch file) replace %% with %...

How to do SQL Like % in Linq?

I do always this:

from h in OH
where h.Hierarchy.Contains("/12/")
select h

I know I don't use the like statement but it's work fine in the background is this translated into a query with a like statement.

Windows equivalent of $export

There is not an equivalent statement for export in Windows Command Prompt. In Windows the environment is copied so when you exit from the session (from a called command prompt or from an executable that set a variable) the variable in Windows get lost. You can set it in user registry or in machine registry via setx but you won't see it if you not start a new command prompt.

How to handle AssertionError in Python and find out which line or statement it occurred on?

The traceback module and sys.exc_info are overkill for tracking down the source of an exception. That's all in the default traceback. So instead of calling exit(1) just re-raise:

try:
    assert "birthday cake" == "ice cream cake", "Should've asked for pie"
except AssertionError:
    print 'Houston, we have a problem.'
    raise

Which gives the following output that includes the offending statement and line number:

Houston, we have a problem.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/tmp/poop.py", line 2, in <module>
    assert "birthday cake" == "ice cream cake", "Should've asked for pie"
AssertionError: Should've asked for pie

Similarly the logging module makes it easy to log a traceback for any exception (including those which are caught and never re-raised):

import logging

try:
    assert False == True
except AssertionError:
    logging.error("Nothing is real but I can't quit...", exc_info=True)

What is the difference between a pandas Series and a single-column DataFrame?

Series is a one-dimensional object that can hold any data type such as integers, floats and strings e.g

   import pandas as pd
   x = pd.Series([A,B,C])

0 A
1 B
2 C

The first column of Series is known as index i.e 0,1,2 the second column is your actual data i.e A,B,C

DataFrames is two-dimensional object that can hold series, list, dictionary

df=pd.DataFrame(rd(5,4),['A','B','C','D','E'],['W','X','Y','Z'])

Git pull command from different user

Was looking for the solution of a similar problem. Thanks to the answer provided by Davlet and Cupcake I was able to solve my problem.

Posting this answer here since I think this is the intended question

So I guess generally the problem that people like me face is what to do when a repo is cloned by another user on a server and that user is no longer associated with the repo.

How to pull from the repo without using the credentials of the old user ?

You edit the .git/config file of your repo.

and change

url = https://<old-username>@github.com/abc/repo.git/

to

url = https://<new-username>@github.com/abc/repo.git/

After saving the changes, from now onwards git pull will pull data while using credentials of the new user.

I hope this helps anyone with a similar problem

SQL LIKE condition to check for integer?

In PostreSQL you can use SIMILAR TO operator (more):

-- only digits
select * from books where title similar to '^[0-9]*$';
-- start with digit
select * from books where title similar to '^[0-9]%$';

Angular ng-click with call to a controller function not working

You should probably use the ngHref directive along with the ngClick:

 <a ng-href='#here' ng-click='go()' >click me</a>

Here is an example: http://plnkr.co/edit/FSH0tP0YBFeGwjIhKBSx?p=preview

<body ng-controller="MainCtrl">
    <p>Hello {{name}}!</p>
    {{msg}}
    <a ng-href='#here' ng-click='go()' >click me</a>
    <div style='height:1000px'>

      <a id='here'></a>

    </div>
     <h1>here</h1>
  </body>

var app = angular.module('plunker', []);

app.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope) {
  $scope.name = 'World';

  $scope.go = function() {

    $scope.msg = 'clicked';
  }
});

I don't know if this will work with the library you are using but it will at least let you link and use the ngClick function.

** Update **

Here is a demo of the set and get working fine with a service.

http://plnkr.co/edit/FSH0tP0YBFeGwjIhKBSx?p=preview

var app = angular.module('plunker', []);

app.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope, sharedProperties) {
  $scope.name = 'World';

  $scope.go = function(item) {
    sharedProperties.setListName(item);

  }

  $scope.getItem = function() {

    $scope.msg = sharedProperties.getListName();
  }
});

app.service('sharedProperties', function () {
    var list_name = '';

    return {

        getListName: function() {
            return list_name;
        },
        setListName: function(name) {
            list_name = name;
        }
    };

});

* Edit *

Please review https://github.com/centralway/lungo-angular-bridge which talks about how to use lungo and angular. Also note that if your page is completely reloading when browsing to another link, you will need to persist your shared properties into localstorage and/or a cookie.

clear cache of browser by command line

Remove all subviews?

This does only apply to OSX since in iOS a copy of the array is kept

When removing all the subviews, it is a good idea to start deleting at the end of the array and keep deleting until you reach the beginning. This can be accomplished with this two lines of code:

for (int i=mySuperView.subviews.count-1; i>=0; i--)
        [[mySuperView.subviews objectAtIndex:i] removeFromSuperview];

SWIFT 1.2

for var i=mySuperView.subviews.count-1; i>=0; i-- {
    mySuperView.subviews[i].removeFromSuperview();
}

or (less efficient, but more readable)

for subview in mySuperView.subviews.reverse() {
    subview.removeFromSuperview()
}

NOTE

You should NOT remove the subviews in normal order, since it may cause a crash if a UIView instance is deleted before the removeFromSuperview message has been sent to all objects of the array. (Obviously, deleting the last element would not cause a crash)

Therefore, the code

[[someUIView subviews] makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(removeFromSuperview)];

should NOT be used.

Quote from Apple documentation about makeObjectsPerformSelector:

Sends to each object in the array the message identified by a given selector, starting with the first object and continuing through the array to the last object.

(which would be the wrong direction for this purpose)

Xcode/Simulator: How to run older iOS version?

I was searching for how to do this on a much newer version of xcode than the original question and while the answers here got me where I needed to go, they aren't quite accurate for location anymore. Xcode 11.3.1, you need to go into Preferences -> Components, then select the desired Simulators. You can also select tvOS and watchOS similators from the same window.

Explanation of JSONB introduced by PostgreSQL

I was at the pgopen today benchmarks are way faster than mongodb, I believe it was around 500% faster for selects. Pretty much everything was faster at least by at 200% when contrasted with mongodb, than one exception right now is a update which requires completely rewriting the entire json column something mongodb handles better.

The gin indexing on on jsonb sounds amazing.

Also postgres will persist types of jsonb internally and basically match this with types such as numeric, text, boolean etc.

Joins will also be possible using jsonb

Add PLv8 for stored procedures and this will basically be a dream come true for node.js developers.

Being it's stored as binary jsonb will also strip all whitespace, change the ordering of properties and remove duplicate properties using the last occurance of the property.

Besides the index when querying against a jsonb column contrasted to a json column postgres doesn't have to actually run the functionality to convert the text to json on every row which will likely save a vast amount of time alone.

C# Version Of SQL LIKE

UEFA/FIFA scores API

You can find stats-dot-com - personally I think their are better than opta. ESPN seems don't provide data in full and do not provide live data feeds (unfortunatelly).

We've been seeking for official data feed providing for our fantasy games (solutionsforfantasysport.com) and still staying with stats-com mainly (used opta, datafactory as well)

Sorting a tab delimited file

You need to put an actual tab character after the -t\ and to do that in a shell you hit ctrl-v and then the tab character. Most shells I've used support this mode of literal tab entry.

Beware, though, because copying and pasting from another place generally does not preserve tabs.

How to remove provisioning profiles from Xcode

XML to CSV Using XSLT

Here is a version with configurable parameters that you can set programmatically:

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
  <xsl:output method="text" encoding="utf-8" />

  <xsl:param name="delim" select="','" />
  <xsl:param name="quote" select="'&quot;'" />
  <xsl:param name="break" select="'&#xA;'" />

  <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:apply-templates select="projects/project" />
  </xsl:template>

  <xsl:template match="project">
    <xsl:apply-templates />
    <xsl:if test="following-sibling::*">
      <xsl:value-of select="$break" />
    </xsl:if>
  </xsl:template>

  <xsl:template match="*">
    <!-- remove normalize-space() if you want keep white-space at it is -->
    <xsl:value-of select="concat($quote, normalize-space(), $quote)" />
    <xsl:if test="following-sibling::*">
      <xsl:value-of select="$delim" />
    </xsl:if>

Programmatically relaunch/recreate an activity?

If you want to pass a parameter to onCreate() then you have to create a new intent with adding extra and call StartActivity with it. Here is a simple example which i did using this way.

              String eczSabit = sa.getItem(position).getValue();
              if(!Util.IsNullOrEmpty(eczSabit)){
                  sabit = Long.parseLong(eczSabit);
                  Intent intent = new Intent(eczaneSegmentasyon.this,eczaneSegmentasyon.class);
                  intent.putExtra("sabit", sabit);
                  startActivity(intent);
              }

How to get the date and time values in a C program?

Use time() and localtime() to get the time:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <time.h>

int main()
{
  time_t t = time(NULL);
  struct tm tm = *localtime(&t);
  printf("now: %d-%02d-%02d %02d:%02d:%02d\n", tm.tm_year + 1900, tm.tm_mon + 1, tm.tm_mday, tm.tm_hour, tm.tm_min, tm.tm_sec);
}

Unable to instantiate default tuplizer [org.hibernate.tuple.entity.PojoEntityTuplizer]

In my case I had a isSomething() boolean getter and got this error.

I resolved it by annotating the method with the JPA @Transient annotation and find a confirmation in an answer to this SO question, so telling the provider not to persist the attribute.

What is the difference between Trap and Interrupt?

A trap is a software interrupt.If you write a program in which you declare a variable having divide by zero value then it is treated as a trap.Whenever you run this program it will throw same error at the same time.System call is a special version of trap in which a program asks os for its required service. In case of interrupt(a general word for hardware interrupts)like an i/o error,the cpu is interrupted at random time and off course it is not the fault of our programmers.It is the hardware that brings them up.

Pass a PHP string to a JavaScript variable (and escape newlines)

Expanding on someone else's answer:

<script>
  var myvar = <?php echo json_encode($myVarValue); ?>;
</script>

Using json_encode() requires:

  • PHP 5.2.0 or greater
  • $myVarValue encoded as UTF-8 (or US-ASCII, of course)

Since UTF-8 supports full Unicode, it should be safe to convert on the fly.

Note that because json_encode escapes forward slashes, even a string that contains </script> will be escaped safely for printing with a script block.

Difference between links and depends_on in docker_compose.yml

The post needs an update after the links option is deprecated.

Basically, links is no longer needed because its main purpose, making container reachable by another by adding environment variable, is included implicitly with network. When containers are placed in the same network, they are reachable by each other using their container name and other alias as host.

For docker run, --link is also deprecated and should be replaced by a custom network.

docker network create mynet
docker run -d --net mynet --name container1 my_image
docker run -it --net mynet --name container1 another_image

depends_on expresses start order (and implicitly image pulling order), which was a good side effect of links.

Using PowerShell to remove lines from a text file if it contains a string

The pipe character | has a special meaning in regular expressions. a|b means "match either a or b". If you want to match a literal | character, you need to escape it:

... | Select-String -Pattern 'H\|159' -NotMatch | ...

What is the difference between varchar and nvarchar?

Although NVARCHAR stores Unicode, you should consider by the help of collation also you can use VARCHAR and save your data of your local languages.

Just imagine the following scenario.

The collation of your DB is Persian and you save a value like '???' (Persian writing of Ali) in the VARCHAR(10) datatype. There is no problem and the DBMS only uses three bytes to store it.

However, if you want to transfer your data to another database and see the correct result your destination database must have the same collation as the target which is Persian in this example.

If your target collation is different, you see some question marks(?) in the target database.

Finally, remember if you are using a huge database which is for usage of your local language, I would recommend to use location instead of using too many spaces.

I believe the design can be different. It depends on the environment you work on.

How to get multiple counts with one SQL query?

I think this can also works for you select count(*) as anc,(select count(*) from Patient where sex='F')as patientF,(select count(*) from Patient where sex='M') as patientM from anc

and also you can select and count related tables like this select count(*) as anc,(select count(*) from Patient where Patient.Id=anc.PatientId)as patientF,(select count(*) from Patient where sex='M') as patientM from anc

Salt and hash a password in Python

EDIT: This answer is wrong. A single iteration of SHA512 is fast, which makes it inappropriate for use as a password hashing function. Use one of the other answers here instead.

Looks fine by me. However, I'm pretty sure you don't actually need base64. You could just do this:

import hashlib, uuid
salt = uuid.uuid4().hex
hashed_password = hashlib.sha512(password + salt).hexdigest()

If it doesn't create difficulties, you can get slightly more efficient storage in your database by storing the salt and hashed password as raw bytes rather than hex strings. To do so, replace hex with bytes and hexdigest with digest.

SpringMVC RequestMapping for GET parameters

If you are willing to change your uri, you could also use PathVariable.

@RequestMapping(value="/mapping/foo/{foo}/{bar}", method=RequestMethod.GET)
public String process(@PathVariable String foo,@PathVariable String bar) {
    //Perform logic with foo and bar
}

NB: The first foo is part of the path, the second one is the PathVariable

How to asynchronously call a method in Java

You can use AsyncFunc from Cactoos:

boolean matches = new AsyncFunc(
  x -> x.matches("something")
).apply("The text").get();

It will be executed at the background and the result will be available in get() as a Future.

PHP DOMDocument loadHTML not encoding UTF-8 correctly

The problem is that when you add a parameter to DOMDocument::saveHTML() function, you lose the encoding. In a few cases, you'll need to avoid the use of the parameter and use old string function to find what your are looking for.

I think the previous answer works for you, but since this workaround didn't work for me, I'm adding that answer to help people who may be in my case.
