How to force the browser to reload cached CSS and JavaScript files

You can force a "session-wide caching" if you add the session-id as a spurious parameter of the JavaScript/CSS file:

Func vs. Action vs. Predicate

The difference between Func and Action is simply whether you want the delegate to return a value (use Func) or not (use Action).

Func is probably most commonly used in LINQ - for example in projections:

 list.Select(x => x.SomeProperty)

or filtering:

 list.Where(x => x.SomeValue == someOtherValue)

or key selection:

 list.Join(otherList, x => x.FirstKey, y => y.SecondKey, ...)

Action is more commonly used for things like List<T>.ForEach: execute the given action for each item in the list. I use this less often than Func, although I do sometimes use the parameterless version for things like Control.BeginInvoke and Dispatcher.BeginInvoke.

Predicate is just a special cased Func<T, bool> really, introduced before all of the Func and most of the Action delegates came along. I suspect that if we'd already had Func and Action in their various guises, Predicate wouldn't have been introduced... although it does impart a certain meaning to the use of the delegate, whereas Func and Action are used for widely disparate purposes.

Predicate is mostly used in List<T> for methods like FindAll and RemoveAll.

jQuery check/uncheck radio button onclick

If all you want to do is have a checkbox that checks, don't worry about doing it with JQuery. That is default functionality of a checkbox on click. However, if you want to do additional things, you can add them with JQuery. Prior to jQuery 1.9, you can use use $(this).attr('checked'); to get the value instead of $(this).attr('checked', true);, as the second will set the value.

Here is a fiddle demonstration that shows the default checkbox functionality vs. what you are doing with JQuery.

Note: After JQuery 1.6, you should use $(this).prop; instead of $(this).attr in all three places (thanks @Whatevo for pointing this out and see here for further details).

UPDATE:

Sorry, missed the requirement that it had to be a radio button. You still may want to consider the checkbox, but here is the updated code for the radio input version. It works by setting the previousValue as an attribute on the checkbox, as I don't think prop is supported in 1.3.2. You could also do this in a scoped variable, as some people don't like setting random attributes on fields. Here is the new example.

As Josh pointed out, the previous solution only worked with one radio button. Here's a function that makes a group of radios deselectable by their name, and a fiddle:

You are getting Unknown command error for your command as -safemode isn't a sub-command for hadoop fs, but it is of hadoop dfsadmin.

Also after the above command, I would suggest you to once run hadoop fsck so that any inconsistencies crept in the hdfs might be sorted out.

Update:

Use hdfs command instead of hadoop command for newer distributions. The hadoop command is being deprecated:

hdfs dfsadmin -safemode leave

hadoop dfsadmin has been deprecated and so is hadoop fs command, all hdfs related tasks are being moved to a separate command hdfs.

Consider the example below:

Go doesn't really have a character type as such. byte is often used for ASCII characters, and rune is used for Unicode characters, but they are both just aliases for integer types (uint8 and int32). I'm having the same problem. Jade does not pass local variables in (or do any templating at all) to javascript scripts, it simply passes the entire block in as literal text. If you use the local variables 'address' and 'port' in your Jade file above the script tag they should show up.

Possible solutions are listed in the question I linked to above, but you can either: - pass every line in as unescaped text (!= at the beginning of every line), and simply put "-" before every line of javascript that uses a local variable, or: - Pass variables in through a dom element and access through JQuery (ugly)

How can I find out if an .EXE has Command-Line Options?

Unless the writer of the executable has specifically provided a way for you to display a list of all the command line switches that it offers, then there is no way of doing this.

As Marcin suggests, the typical switches for displaying all of the options are either /? or /help (some applications might prefer the Unix-style syntax, -? and -help, respectively). But those are just a common convention.

If those don't work, you're out of luck. You'll need to check the documentation for the application, or perhaps try decompiling the executable (if you know what you're looking for).

Using curl POST with variables defined in bash script functions

Curl can post binary data from a file so I have been using process substitution and taking advantage of file descriptors whenever I need to post something nasty with curl and still want access to the vars in the current shell. Something like:

Do AJAX requests retain PHP Session info?

Well, not always. Using cookies, you are good. But the "can I safely rely on the id being present" urged me to extend the discussion with an important point (mostly for reference, as the visitor count of this page seems quite high).

PHP can be configured to maintain sessions by URL-rewriting, instead of cookies. (How it's good or bad (<-- see e.g. the topmost comment there) is a separate question, let's now stick to the current one, with just one side-note: the most prominent issue with URL-based sessions -- the blatant visibility of the naked session ID -- is not an issue with internal Ajax calls; but then, if it's turned on for Ajax, it's turned on for the rest of the site, too, so there...)

In case of URL-rewriting (cookieless) sessions, Ajax calls must take care of it themselves that their request URLs are properly crafted. (Or you can roll your own custom solution. You can even resort to maintaining sessions on the client side, in less demanding cases.) The point is the explicit care needed for session continuity, if not using cookies:

  1. If the Ajax calls just extract URLs verbatim from the HTML (as received from PHP), that should be OK, as they are already cooked (umm, cookified).

  2. If they need to assemble request URIs themselves, the session ID needs to be added to the URL manually. (Check here, or the page sources generated by PHP (with URL-rewriting on) to see how to do it.)

Init function in javascript and how it works

That pattern will create a new execution context (EC) in which any local variable objects (VO's) will live, and will likewise die when the EC exits. The only exception to this lifetime is for VO's which become part of a closure.

Please note that JavaScript has no magic "init" function. You might associate this pattern with such since most any self-respecting JS library (jQuery, YUI, etc.) will do this so that they don't pollute the global NS more than they need to.

You could write this as a psql script, e.g.,

Raising errors with parameters isn't possible in PostgreSQL directly. When porting such code, some people encode the necessary information in the error string and parse it out if necessary.

It all works a bit differently, so be prepared to relearn/rethink/rewrite a lot of things.

The preferred way of creating a new element with jQuery

I would recommend the first option, where you actually build elements using jQuery. the second approach simply sets the innerHTML property of the element to a string, which happens to be HTML, and is more error prone and less flexible.

Setting state on componentDidMount()

It is not an anti-pattern to call setState in componentDidMount. In fact, ReactJS provides an example of this in their documentation:

You should populate data with AJAX calls in the componentDidMount lifecycle method. This is so you can use setState to update your component when the data is retrieved.

What the error is telling, is that you can't convert an entire list into an integer. You could get an index from the list and convert that into an integer:

If you're trying to convert a whole list into an integer, you are going to have to convert the list into a string first:

If your list elements are not strings, you'll have to convert them to strings before using str.join:

Also, as stated above, make sure that you're not returning a nested list.

Generally the reason why the "instanceof" operator is frowned upon in a case like that (where the instanceof is checking for subclasses of this base class) is because what you should be doing is moving the operations into a method and overridding it for the appropriate subclasses. For instance, if you have:

In my.ini file there are defined sections for different settings, look for section [mysqld] (create it if it does not exist) and add the command: innodb_buffer_pool_size=4G

The size of the buffer_pool file will depend on your specific machine, in most cases, 2G or 4G will fix the problem.

Remember to restart the server so it takes the new configuration, it corrected the problem for me.

Basically I was trying to get my code to have a middle section on a 'row' to auto-adjust to the content on both sides (in my case, a dotted line separator). Like @Michael_B suggested, the key is using display:flex on the row container and at least making sure your middle container on the row has a flex-grow value of at least 1 higher than the outer containers (if outer containers don't have any flex-grow properties applied, middle container only needs 1 for flex-grow).

Using the css :before and a data-* attribute for the list is a great idea, but can be modified slightly to be more handicap accessible as well:

HTML:

This will make a list with the "header" pseudo element above it with text set to the value in the aria-label attribute. You can then easily style it to your needs.

The benefit of this over using a data-* attribute is that aria-label will be read off by screen readers as a "label" for the list, which is semantically correct for your intended use of this data.

Note: IE8 supports :before attributes, but must use the single colon version (and must have a valid doctype defined). IE7 does not support :before, but Modernizer or Selectivizr should fix that issue for you. All modern browsers support the older :before syntax, but prefer that the ::before syntax be used. Generally the best way to handle this is to have an external stylesheet for IE7/8 that uses the old format and a general stylesheet using the new format, but in practice, most just use the old single colon format since it is still 100% cross browser, even if not technically valid for CSS3.

Answer: there aren't. The sitemap spec is https://www.sitemaps.org, and using Google site: searches you can confirm that it does not contain the words or phrases mime, mimetype, content-type, application/xml, or text/xml anywhere. In other words, it is entirely silent on the topic of what Content-Type should be used for serving sitemaps.

Actually, ojdbc14.jar doesn't really say anything about the real version of the driver (see JDBC Driver Downloads), except that it predates Oracle 11g. In such situation, you should provide the exact version.

Anyway, I think you'll find some explanation in What is going on with DATE and TIMESTAMP? In short, they changed the behavior in 9.2 drivers and then again in 11.1 drivers.

This might explain the differences you're experiencing (and I suggest using the most recent version i.e. the 11.2 drivers).

Android Gradle Could not reserve enough space for object heap

Faced this issue on Android studio 4.1, windows 10.

The solution that worked for me:

1 - Go to gradle.properties file which is in the root directory of the project.

2 - Comment this line or similar one (org.gradle.jvmargs=-Xmx1536m) to let android studio decide on the best compatible option.

3 - Now close any open project from File -> close project.

4 - On the Welcome window, Go to Configure > Settings.

5 - Go to Build, Execution, Deployment > Compiler

6 - Change Build process heap size (Mbytes) to 1024 and VM Options to -Xmx512m.

Now close the android studio and restart it. The issue will be gone.

Single-pass forward-scanning solution with no backtracking. Every character in the source string is tested exactly once twice. (So it should be faster than most of the other solutions here, especially if the source string has a lot of trailing spaces.)

This includes two solutions, one to copy and trim a source string into another destination string, and the other to trim the source string in place. Both functions use the same code.

The (modifiable) string is moved in-place, so the original pointer to it remains unchanged.

I personally prefer the "boolean1 ^ boolean2" expression due to its succinctness.

If I was in your situation (working in a team), I would strike a compromise by encapsulating the "boolean1 ^ boolean2" logic in a function with a descriptive name such as "isDifferent(boolean1, boolean2)".

For example, instead of using "boolean1 ^ boolean2", you would call "isDifferent(boolean1, boolean2)" like so:

The first line search.Contains(log.Id.ToString()) does work fine, but the last line that deals with a DateTime object made it fail miserably:

Remove the problematic line and problem solved.

I do not fully understand why, but it seems as ToString() is a LINQ expression for strings, but not for Entities. LINQ for Entities deals with database queries like SQL, and SQL has no notion of ToString(). As such, we can not throw ToString() into a .Where() clause.

But how then does the first line work? Instead of ToString(), SQL have CAST and CONVERT, so my best guess so far is that linq for entities uses that in some simple cases. DateTime objects are not always found to be so simple...

What is the difference between "screen" and "only screen" in media queries?

The following is from Adobe docs.


The media queries specification also provides the keyword only, which is intended to hide media queries from older browsers. Like not, the keyword must come at the beginning of the declaration. For example:

media="only screen and (min-width: 401px) and (max-width: 600px)"

Browsers that don't recognize media queries expect a comma-separated list of media types, and the specification says they should truncate each value immediately before the first nonalphanumeric character that isn't a hyphen. So, an old browser should interpret the preceding example as this:

media="only"

Because there is no such media type as only, the stylesheet is ignored. Similarly, an old browser should interpret

media="screen and (min-width: 401px) and (max-width: 600px)"

as

media="screen"

In other words, it should apply the style rules to all screen devices, even though it doesn't know what the media queries mean.

Unfortunately, IE 6–8 failed to implement the specification correctly.

Instead of applying the styles to all screen devices, it ignores the style sheet altogether.

In spite of this behavior, it's still recommended to prefix media queries with only if you want to hide the styles from other, less common browsers.


So, using

media="only screen and (min-width: 401px)"

and

media="screen and (min-width: 401px)"

will have the same effect in IE6-8: both will prevent those styles from being used. They will, however, still be downloaded.

Also, in browsers that support CSS3 media queries, both versions will load the styles if the viewport width is larger than 401px and the media type is screen.

I'm not entirely sure which browsers that don't support CSS3 media queries would need the only version

media="only screen and (min-width: 401px)"

You can always add the "!" into your float-options. This way, latex tries really hard to place the figure where you want it (I mostly use [h!tb]), stretching the normal rules of type-setting.

I have found another solution:

In some cases it might make more sense to process each selected item one at a time.

In other words, make a separate server call for each selected item passing the value of the selected item. In some cases the list will need to be processed as a whole, but in some not.

I needed to process a list of selected people and then have the results of the query show up on an existing page beneath the existing data for that person. I initially though of passing the whole list to the server, parsing the list, then passing back the data for all of the patients. I would have then needed to parse the returning data and insert it into the page in each of the appropriate places. Sending the request for the data one person at a time turned out to be much easier. I am giving an example for fixing a common shebang error in python sources.

You can try the grep/sed approach. Here is one that works with GNU sed and won't break a git repo:

$ grep -rli --exclude '*.git*' '#!/usr/bin/python' . | xargs -I {} \
gsed -i '' -e 's/#!\/usr\/bin\/python/#!\/usr\/bin\/env python/' {}

Or you can use greptile :)

I just tested the first script, and the second should work as well. Be careful with escape characters, I think it should be easier to use greptile in most cases. Of course, you can do many interesting things with sed, and for that it may be preferable to master using it with xargs.

Live Video Streaming with PHP

I am not saying that you have to abandon PHP, but you need different technologies here.

Let's start off simple (without Akamai :-)) and think about the implications here. Video, chat, etc. - it's all client-side in the beginning. The user has a webcam, you want to grab the signal somehow and send it to the server. There is no PHP so far.

I know that Flash supports this though (check this tutorial on webcams and flash) so you could use Flash to transport the content to the server. I think if you'll stay with Flash, then Flex (flex and webcam tutorial) is probably a good idea to look into.

So those are just the basics, maybe it gives you an idea of where you need to research because obviously this won't give you a full video chat inside your app yet. For starters, you will need some sort of way to record the streams and re-publish them so others see other people from the chat, etc..

I'm also not sure how much traffic and bandwidth this is gonna consume though and generally, you will need way more than a Stackoverflow question to solve this issue. Best would be to do a full spec of your app and then hire some people to help you build it.

I wrote my own function in numba with just in time compilation, which is roughly 16x faster:

Using HTTPS with REST in Java

When you say "is there an easier way to... trust this cert", that's exactly what you're doing by adding the cert to your Java trust store. And this is very, very easy to do, and there's nothing you need to do within your client app to get that trust store recognized or utilized.

On your client machine, find where your cacerts file is (that's your default Java trust store, and is, by default, located at <java-home>/lib/security/certs/cacerts.

Then, type the following:

keytool -import -alias <Name for the cert> -file <the .cer file> -keystore <path to cacerts>

That will import the cert into your trust store, and after this, your client app will be able to connect to your Grizzly HTTPS server without issue.

If you don't want to import the cert into your default trust store -- i.e., you just want it to be available to this one client app, but not to anything else you run on your JVM on that machine -- then you can create a new trust store just for your app. Instead of passing keytool the path to the existing, default cacerts file, pass keytool the path to your new trust store file:

keytool -import -alias <Name for the cert> -file <the .cer file> -keystore <path to new trust store>

You'll be asked to set and verify a new password for the trust store file. Then, when you start your client app, start it with the following parameters:

Sounds like you have a pre-Excel 2007 workbook open in Excel 2007 in compatibility mode (look in the title bar and see if it says compatibility mode). If so, the workbook has 65,536 rows, not 1,048,576. You can save the workbook as an Excel workbook which will be in Excel 2007 format, close the workbook and re-open it.

when ob1 is created then the constructor is called where "t.start()" is written but still run() method is not executed rather main() method is executed further. So why is this happening?

here your threads and main thread has equal priority.Execution of equal priority thread totally depends on the Thread schedular.You can't expect which to execute first.

join() method is used to wait until the thread on which it is called does not terminates, but here in output we see alternate outputs of the thread why??

Here your calling below statements from main thread.

     ob1.t.join();
     ob2.t.join();
     ob3.t.join();

So main thread waits for ob1.t,ob2.t,ob3.t threads to die(look into Thread#join doc).So all three threads executes successfully and main thread completes after that

Use the following command to find if your tomcat port is already in use,

netstat -a -b

netstat -a -o | findstr :port

For example

netstat -a -o | findstr :8080

Exception: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind:80

means that port 80 is configured by your Tomcat server and it is already used by some other application running on your computer. Please quit Skype if open or change the default port in Skype or other application's port to something other than 80. Or change the tomcat port to something else than 80(e.g. 8080 or 9090) in the server.xml file under the config folder of your tomcat installation directory.

Exception: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

means you din't stop the tomcat server properly and you are trying to start the server again. In Eclipse, the solution for me was to remove the project from the servers tab and right click and run the project as Run on server. This added the project back to the Tomcat 7 and I din't get the BindException error. This was due to closing eclipse the last time you used without stopping the Tomcat server.

ConnectionTimeout versus SocketTimeout

A connection timeout occurs only upon starting the TCP connection. This usually happens if the remote machine does not answer. This means that the server has been shut down, you used the wrong IP/DNS name, wrong port or the network connection to the server is down.

A socket timeout is dedicated to monitor the continuous incoming data flow. If the data flow is interrupted for the specified timeout the connection is regarded as stalled/broken. Of course this only works with connections where data is received all the time.

By setting socket timeout to 1 this would require that every millisecond new data is received (assuming that you read the data block wise and the block is large enough)!

If only the incoming stream stalls for more than a millisecond you are running into a timeout.

In your case, you just need to remove the line breaks (<br> tags) between the elements - input elements are inline-block by default (in Chrome at least). (updated example).
