Programs & Examples On #Nullable

The nullable tag is for issues relating to nullable members or types.

How to set null value to int in c#?

Additionally, you cannot use "null" as a value in a conditional assignment. e.g...

bool testvalue = false;
int? myint = (testvalue == true) ? 1234 : null;

FAILS with: Type of conditional expression cannot be determined because there is no implicit conversion between 'int' and '<null>'.

So, you have to cast the null as well... This works:

int? myint = (testvalue == true) ? 1234 : (int?)null;

Java check if boolean is null

In Java, null only applies to object references; since boolean is a primitive type, it cannot be assigned null.

It's hard to get context from your example, but I'm guessing that if hideInNav is not in the object returned by getProperties(), the (default value?) you've indicated will be false. I suspect this is the bug that you're seeing, as false is not equal to null, so hideNavigation is getting the empty string?

You might get some better answers with a bit more context to your code sample.

Why can't I check if a 'DateTime' is 'Nothing'?

Some examples on working with nullable DateTime values.

(See Nullable Value Types (Visual Basic) for more.)

'
' An ordinary DateTime declaration. It is *not* nullable. Setting it to
' 'Nothing' actually results in a non-null value.
'
Dim d1 As DateTime = Nothing
Console.WriteLine(String.Format("d1 = [{0}]\n", d1))
' Output:  d1 = [1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM]

' Console.WriteLine(String.Format("d1 is Nothing? [{0}]\n", (d1 Is Nothing)))
'
' Compilation error on above expression '(d1 Is Nothing)':
'
' 'Is' operator does not accept operands of type 'Date'.
' Operands must be reference or nullable types.

'
' Three different but equivalent ways to declare a DateTime
' nullable:
'
Dim d2? As DateTime = Nothing
Console.WriteLine(String.Format("d2 = [{0}][{1}]\n", d2, (d2 Is Nothing)))
' Output:  d2 = [][True]

Dim d3 As DateTime? = Nothing
Console.WriteLine(String.Format("d3 = [{0}][{1}]\n", d3, (d3 Is Nothing)))
' Output:  d3 = [][True]

Dim d4 As Nullable(Of DateTime) = Nothing
Console.WriteLine(String.Format("d4 = [{0}][{1}]\n", d4, (d4 Is Nothing)))
' Output:  d4 = [][True]

Also, on how to check whether a variable is null (from Nothing (Visual Basic)):

When checking whether a reference (or nullable value type) variable is null, do not use = Nothing or <> Nothing. Always use Is Nothing or IsNot Nothing.

How to convert C# nullable int to int

It will assign value of v1 to v2 if it is not null, else it will take a default value as zero.

v2=v1??0

Or below is the other way to write it.

v2 = v1.HasValue?v1:0

Convert nullable bool? to bool

Something like:

if (bn.HasValue)
{
  b = bn.Value
}

How to change a PG column to NULLABLE TRUE?

From the fine manual:

ALTER TABLE mytable ALTER COLUMN mycolumn DROP NOT NULL;

There's no need to specify the type when you're just changing the nullability.

How to use @Nullable and @Nonnull annotations more effectively?

What I do in my projects is to activate the following option in the "Constant conditions & exceptions" code inspection:
Suggest @Nullable annotation for methods that may possibly return null and report nullable values passed to non-annotated parameters Inspections

When activated, all non-annotated parameters will be treated as non-null and thus you will also see a warning on your indirect call:

clazz.indirectPathToA(null);

For even stronger checks the Checker Framework may be a good choice (see this nice tutorial.
Note: I have not used that yet and there may be problems with the Jack compiler: see this bugreport

How do I use DateTime.TryParse with a Nullable<DateTime>?

Here is a slightly concised edition of what Jason suggested:

DateTime? d; DateTime dt;
d = DateTime.TryParse(DateTime.Now.ToString(), out dt)? dt : (DateTime?)null;

C# elegant way to check if a property's property is null

Assuming you have empty values of types one approach would be this:

var x = (((objectA ?? A.Empty).PropertyOfB ?? B.Empty).PropertyOfC ?? C.Empty).PropertyOfString;

I'm a big fan of C# but a very nice thing in new Java (1.7?) is the .? operator:

 var x = objectA.?PropertyOfB.?PropertyOfC.?PropertyOfString;

How to parse a string into a nullable int

int.TryParse is probably a tad easier:

public static int? ToNullableInt(this string s)
{
    int i;
    if (int.TryParse(s, out i)) return i;
    return null;
}

Edit @Glenn int.TryParse is "built into the framework". It and int.Parse are the way to parse strings to ints.

C# nullable string error

You are making it complicated. string is already nullable. You don't need to make it more nullable. Take out the ? on the property type.

Which is preferred: Nullable<T>.HasValue or Nullable<T> != null?

In VB.Net. Do NOT use "IsNot Nothing" when you can use ".HasValue". I just solved an "Operation could destabilize the runtime" Medium trust error by replacing "IsNot Nothing" with ".HasValue" In one spot. I don't really understand why, but something is happening differently in the compiler. I would assume that "!= null" in C# may have the same issue.

Checkbox for nullable boolean

Radio buttons are useful, but they don't allow you to deselect. If you want this behaviour, then consider using a drop-down/select. The following code will generate the SelectList and this binds successfully to a nullable boolean:

public static SelectList GetBoolTriState()
{
    var items = new List<SelectListItem>
    {
        new SelectListItem {Value = "", Text = ""},
        new SelectListItem {Value = "True", Text = "Yes"},
        new SelectListItem {Value = "False", Text = "No"},
    };

    return new SelectList(items, "Value", "Text");
}

c# why can't a nullable int be assigned null as a value

What Harry S says is exactly right, but

int? accom = (accomStr == "noval" ? null : (int?)Convert.ToInt32(accomStr));

would also do the trick. (We Resharper users can always spot each other in crowds...)

How to set enum to null

If this is C#, it won't work: enums are value types, and can't be null.

The normal options are to add a None member:

public enum Color
{
  None,
  Red,
  Green,
  Yellow
}

Color color = Color.None;

...or to use Nullable:

Color? color = null;

How can I format a nullable DateTime with ToString()?

I like this option:

Console.WriteLine(dt2?.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss") ?? "n/a");

Laravel Migration Change to Make a Column Nullable

Here's the complete answer for the future reader. Note that this is only possible in Laravel 5+.

First of all you'll need the doctrine/dbal package:

composer require doctrine/dbal

Now in your migration you can do this to make the column nullable:

public function up()
{
    Schema::table('users', function (Blueprint $table) {
        // change() tells the Schema builder that we are altering a table
        $table->integer('user_id')->unsigned()->nullable()->change();
    });
}

You may be wondering how to revert this operation. Sadly this syntax is not supported:

// Sadly does not work :'(
$table->integer('user_id')->unsigned()->change();

This is the correct syntax to revert the migration:

$table->integer('user_id')->unsigned()->nullable(false)->change();

Or, if you prefer, you can write a raw query:

public function down()
{
    /* Make user_id un-nullable */
    DB::statement('UPDATE `users` SET `user_id` = 0 WHERE `user_id` IS NULL;');
    DB::statement('ALTER TABLE `users` MODIFY `user_id` INTEGER UNSIGNED NOT NULL;');
}

Hopefully you'll find this answer useful. :)

How to declare a type as nullable in TypeScript?

i had this same question a while back.. all types in ts are nullable, because void is a subtype of all types (unlike, for example, scala).

see if this flowchart helps - https://github.com/bcherny/language-types-comparison#typescript

What's the difference between 'int?' and 'int' in C#?

the symbol ? after the int means that it can be nullable.

The ? symbol is usually used in situations whereby the variable can accept a null or an integer or alternatively, return an integer or null.

Hope the context of usage helps. In this way you are not restricted to solely dealing with integers.

Can't find @Nullable inside javax.annotation.*

you can add latest version of this by adding following line inside your gradle.build.

implementation group: 'com.google.code.findbugs', name: 'jsr305', version: '3.0.2'

Check if Nullable Guid is empty in c#

You should use the HasValue property:

SomeProperty.HasValue

For example:

if (SomeProperty.HasValue)
{
    // Do Something
}
else
{
    // Do Something Else
}

FYI

public Nullable<System.Guid> SomeProperty { get; set; }

is equivalent to:

public System.Guid? SomeProperty { get; set; }

How to set null to a GUID property

Is there a way to set my property as null or string.empty in order to restablish the field in the database as null.

No. Because it's non-nullable. If you want it to be nullable, you have to use Nullable<Guid> - if you didn't, there'd be no point in having Nullable<T> to start with. You've got a fundamental issue here - which you actually know, given your first paragraph. You've said, "I know if I want to achieve A, I must do B - but I want to achieve A without doing B." That's impossible by definition.

The closest you can get is to use one specific GUID to stand in for a null value - Guid.Empty (also available as default(Guid) where appropriate, e.g. for the default value of an optional parameter) being the obvious candidate, but one you've rejected for unspecified reasons.

The type 'string' must be a non-nullable type in order to use it as parameter T in the generic type or method 'System.Nullable<T>'

string is a reference type, a class. You can only use Nullable<T> or the T? C# syntactic sugar with non-nullable value types such as int and Guid.

In particular, as string is a reference type, an expression of type string can already be null:

string lookMaNoText = null;

Nullable property to entity field, Entity Framework through Code First

In Ef .net core there are two options that you can do; first with data annotations:

public class Blog
{
    public int BlogId { get; set; }
    [Required]
    public string Url { get; set; }
}

Or with fluent api:

class MyContext : DbContext
{
    public DbSet<Blog> Blogs { get; set; }

    protected override void OnModelCreating(ModelBuilder modelBuilder)
    {
        modelBuilder.Entity<Blog>()
            .Property(b => b.Url)
            .IsRequired(false)//optinal case
            .IsRequired()//required case
            ;
    }
}

public class Blog
{
    public int BlogId { get; set; }
    public string Url { get; set; }
}

nullable object must have a value

I got this message when trying to access values of a null valued object.

sName = myObj.Name;

this will produce error. First you should check if object not null

if(myObj != null)
  sName = myObj.Name;

This works.

Best way to check for nullable bool in a condition expression (if ...)

Just think of bool? as having 3 values, then things get easier:

if (someNullableBool == true) // only if true
if (someNullableBool == false) // only if false
if (someNullableBool == null) // only if null

python save image from url

Anyone who is wondering how to get the image extension then you can try split method of string on image url:

str_arr = str(img_url).split('.')
img_ext = '.' + str_arr[3] #www.bigbasket.com/patanjali-atta.jpg (jpg is after 3rd dot so)
img_data = requests.get(img_url).content
with open(img_name + img_ext, 'wb') as handler:
    handler.write(img_data)

What is the common header format of Python files?

Also see PEP 263 if you are using a non-ascii characterset

Abstract

This PEP proposes to introduce a syntax to declare the encoding of a Python source file. The encoding information is then used by the Python parser to interpret the file using the given encoding. Most notably this enhances the interpretation of Unicode literals in the source code and makes it possible to write Unicode literals using e.g. UTF-8 directly in an Unicode aware editor.

Problem

In Python 2.1, Unicode literals can only be written using the Latin-1 based encoding "unicode-escape". This makes the programming environment rather unfriendly to Python users who live and work in non-Latin-1 locales such as many of the Asian countries. Programmers can write their 8-bit strings using the favorite encoding, but are bound to the "unicode-escape" encoding for Unicode literals.

Proposed Solution

I propose to make the Python source code encoding both visible and changeable on a per-source file basis by using a special comment at the top of the file to declare the encoding.

To make Python aware of this encoding declaration a number of concept changes are necessary with respect to the handling of Python source code data.

Defining the Encoding

Python will default to ASCII as standard encoding if no other encoding hints are given.

To define a source code encoding, a magic comment must be placed into the source files either as first or second line in the file, such as:

      # coding=<encoding name>

or (using formats recognized by popular editors)

      #!/usr/bin/python
      # -*- coding: <encoding name> -*-

or

      #!/usr/bin/python
      # vim: set fileencoding=<encoding name> :

Using psql how do I list extensions installed in a database?

This SQL query gives output similar to \dx:

SELECT e.extname AS "Name", e.extversion AS "Version", n.nspname AS "Schema", c.description AS "Description"

git push origin master -f

or:

git push origin master --force

How to get EditText value and display it on screen through TextView?

I'm just beginner to help you for getting edittext value to textview. Try out this code -

EditText edit = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editext1);

This will get the text which is in EditText Hope this helps you.

Show a number to two decimal places

$number = sprintf('%0.2f', $numbers); // 520.89898989 -> 520.89

This will give you 2 number after decimal.

What is difference between 'git reset --hard HEAD~1' and 'git reset --soft HEAD~1'?

This is a useful article which graphically shows the explanation of the reset command.

https://git-scm.com/docs/git-reset

Reset --hard can be quite dangerous as it overwrites your working copy without checking, so if you haven't commited the file at all, it is gone.

As for Source tree, there is no way I know of to undo commits. It would most likely use reset under the covers anyway

Can someone post a well formed crossdomain.xml sample?

This is what I've been using for development:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="*" />
</cross-domain-policy>

This is a very liberal approach, but is fine for my application.

As others have pointed out below, beware the risks of this.

IntelliJ and Tomcat.. Howto..?

Which version of IntelliJ are you using? Note that since last year, IntelliJ exists in two versions:

  • Ultimate Edition, which is the complete IDE
  • Community Edition, which is free but does not support JavaEE developments.

(see differences here)

In case you are using the Community Edition, you will not be able to manage a Tomcat installation.

In case you are using the Ultimate Edition, you can have a look at:

What is a Subclass

A subclass is something that extends the functionality of your existing class. I.e.

Superclass - describes the catagory of objects:

public abstract class Fruit {

    public abstract Color color;

}

Subclass1 - describes attributes of the individual Fruit objects:

public class Apple extends Fruit {

    Color color = red;

}

Subclass2 - describes attributes of the individual Fruit objects:

public class Banana extends Fruit {

    Color color = yellow;

}

The 'abstract' keyword in the superclass means that the class will only define the mandatory information that each subclass must have i.e. A piece of fruit must have a color so it is defines in the super class and all subclasses must 'inherit' that attribute and define the value that describes the specific object.

Does that make sense?

How do I display a MySQL error in PHP for a long query that depends on the user input?

Try something like this:

$link = @new mysqli($this->host, $this->user, $this->pass)
$statement = $link->prepare($sqlStatement);
                if(!$statement)
                {
                    $this->debug_mode('query', 'error', '#Query Failed<br/>' . $link->error);
                    return false;
                }

How to clear Flutter's Build cache?

Same issue with mine.

New to Flutter. I'm using VS build-in terminal to do flutter run, to run the app in iPhone. It gives me error Error when reading 'lib/student_model.dart': No such file..., which is an old code version in my code. I have changed it to lib/model/student_model.dart.

And I search this line 'lib/student_model.dart'in the project, it appears filekernel_snapshot.d` containing it. So, it build the project with old code version.

For me, Flutter clean is not working. Restart VS fix the issue, not sure the problem is due to Flutter or VS?

And I'm wondering if there is some command to just build flutter project without run?

How to pass multiple parameters in json format to a web service using jquery?

This is a stab in the dark, but maybe do you need to wrap your JSON arguments; like say something like this:

data: "{'Ids':[{'Id1':'2'},{'Id2':'2'}]}"

Make sure your JSON is properly formed?

How do I specify different layouts for portrait and landscape orientations?

  1. Right click res folder,
  2. New -> Android Resource File
  3. in Available qualifiers, select Orientation,
  4. add to Chosen qualifier
  5. in Screen orientation, select Landscape
  6. Press OK

Using Android Studio 3.4.1, it no longer creates layout-land folder. It will create a folder and put two layout files together.

Adding a Time to a DateTime in C#

Combine both. The Date-Time-Picker does support picking time, too.

You just have to change the Format-Property and maybe the CustomFormat-Property.

How to change color and font on ListView

If you want to use a color from colors.xml , experiment :

   public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
        ...
        View rowView = inflater.inflate(this.rowLayoutID, parent, false);
        rowView.setBackgroundColor(rowView.getResources().getColor(R.color.my_bg_color));
        TextView title = (TextView) rowView.findViewById(R.id.txtRowTitle);
        title.setTextColor(
            rowView.getResources().getColor(R.color.my_title_color));
        ...
     }

You can use too:

private static final int bgColor = 0xAAAAFFFF;
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
        ...
        View rowView = inflater.inflate(this.rowLayoutID, parent, false);
            rowView.setBackgroundColor(bgColor);
...
}

How to change the window title of a MATLAB plotting figure?

You need to set figure properties.

At the very beginning of the script, call

figure('name','something else')

Calling figure is a good thing, anyway, because without it, you always plot into the same window, and sometimes you may want to compare two windows side-by-side.

Alternatively, you can store the figure's handle by calling

figH = figure;

so that you can later change the figure properties to your liking (the 'numberTitle' property setting eliminates the "figure X" text)

set(figH,'Name','something else','NumberTitle','off')

Have a look at the figure properties in the MATLAB documentation to see what else you can change if you want.

How to ssh connect through python Paramiko with ppk public key

@VonC's answer to a duplicate question:

If, as commented, Paraminko does not support PPK key, the official solution, as seen here, would be to use PuTTYgen.

But you can also use the Python library CkSshKey to make that same conversion directly in your program.

See "Convert PuTTY Private Key (ppk) to OpenSSH (pem)"

import sys
import chilkat

key = chilkat.CkSshKey()

# Load an unencrypted or encrypted PuTTY private key.

# If your PuTTY private key is encrypted, set the Password
#  property before calling FromPuttyPrivateKey.
# If your PuTTY private key is not encrypted, it makes no diffference
# if Password is set or not set.
key.put_Password("secret")

# First load the .ppk file into a string:

keyStr = key.loadText("putty_private_key.ppk")

# Import into the SSH key object:
success = key.FromPuttyPrivateKey(keyStr)
if (success != True):
    print(key.lastErrorText())
    sys.exit()

# Convert to an encrypted or unencrypted OpenSSH key.

# First demonstrate converting to an unencrypted OpenSSH key

bEncrypt = False
unencryptedKeyStr = key.toOpenSshPrivateKey(bEncrypt)
success = key.SaveText(unencryptedKeyStr,"unencrypted_openssh.pem")
if (success != True):
    print(key.lastErrorText())
    sys.exit()

Cannot connect to local SQL Server with Management Studio

Check the sql log in the LOG directory of your instance - see if anything is going on there. You'll need to stop the service to open the log - or restart and you can read the old one - named with .1 on the end.

With the error you're getting, you need to enable TCP/IP or Named pipes for named connections. Shared memory connection should work, but you seem to not be using that. Are you trying to connect through SSMS?

In my log I see entries like this...

Server local connection provider is ready to accept connection on [\\.\pipe\mssql$sqlexpress\sql\query ]

As the comments said, .\SQLEXPRESS should work. Also worstationName\SQLEXPRESS will work.

onclick or inline script isn't working in extension

I had the same problem, and didn´t want to rewrite the code, so I wrote a function to modify the code and create the inline declarated events:

function compile(qSel){
    var matches = [];
    var match = null;
    var c = 0;

    var html = $(qSel).html();
    var pattern = /(<(.*?)on([a-zA-Z]+)\s*=\s*('|")(.*)('|")(.*?))(>)/mg;

    while (match = pattern.exec(html)) {
        var arr = [];
        for (i in match) {
            if (!isNaN(i)) {
                arr.push(match[i]);
            }
        }
        matches.push(arr);

    var items_with_events = [];
    var compiledHtml = html;

            on : matches[i][3],
        };
        items_with_events.push(item_with_event);
        compiledHtml = compiledHtml.replace(/(<(.*?)on([a-zA-Z]+)\s*=\s*('|")(.*)('|")(.*?))(>)/m, "<$2 custom_id='"+item_with_event.custom_id+"' $7 $8");
    }

    $(qSel).html(compiledHtml);

    for ( var i in items_with_events ){
        $("[custom_id='"+items_with_events[i].custom_id+"']").bind(items_with_events[i].on, function(){
            eval(items_with_events[i].code);
        });
    }
}

$(document).ready(function(){
    compile('#content');
})

This should remove all inline events from the selected node, and recreate them with jquery instead.

How do I set the classpath in NetBeans?

Maven

The Answer by Bhesh Gurung is correct… unless your NetBeans project is Maven based.

Dependency

Under Maven, you add a "dependency". A dependency is a description of a library (its name & version number) you want to use from your code.

Or a dependency could be a description of a library which another library needs ("depends on"). Maven automatically handles this chain, libraries that need other libraries that then need other libraries and so on. For the mathematical-minded, perhaps the phrase "Maven resolves the transitive dependencies" makes sense.

Repository

Maven gets this related-ness information, and the libraries themselves from a Maven repository. A repository is basically an online database and collection of download files (the dependency library).

Easy to Use

Adding a dependency to a Maven-based project is really quite easy. That is the whole point to Maven, to make managing dependent libraries easy and to make building them into your project easy. To get started with adding a dependency, see this Question, Adding dependencies in Maven Netbeans and my Answer with screenshot.

How to resize JLabel ImageIcon?

I agree this code works, to size an ImageIcon from a file for display while keeping the aspect ratio I have used the below.

/*
 * source File of image, maxHeight pixels of height available, maxWidth pixels of width available
 * @return an ImageIcon for adding to a label
 */

public ImageIcon rescaleImage(File source,int maxHeight, int maxWidth)
{
    int newHeight = 0, newWidth = 0; // Variables for the new height and width
    int priorHeight = 0, priorWidth = 0;
    BufferedImage image = null;
    ImageIcon sizeImage;

    try {
            image = ImageIO.read(source);        // get the image
    } catch (Exception e) {

            e.printStackTrace();
            System.out.println("Picture upload attempted & failed");
    }

    sizeImage = new ImageIcon(image);

    if(sizeImage != null)
    {
        priorHeight = sizeImage.getIconHeight();
        priorWidth = sizeImage.getIconWidth();
    }

    // Calculate the correct new height and width
    if((float)priorHeight/(float)priorWidth > (float)maxHeight/(float)maxWidth)
    {
        newHeight = maxHeight;
        newWidth = (int)(((float)priorWidth/(float)priorHeight)*(float)newHeight);
    }
    else
    {
        newWidth = maxWidth;
        newHeight = (int)(((float)priorHeight/(float)priorWidth)*(float)newWidth);
    }

    // Resize the image

    // 1. Create a new Buffered Image and Graphic2D object
    BufferedImage resizedImg = new BufferedImage(newWidth, newHeight, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D g2 = resizedImg.createGraphics();

    // 2. Use the Graphic object to draw a new image to the image in the buffer
    g2.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR);
    g2.drawImage(image, 0, 0, newWidth, newHeight, null);
    g2.dispose();

    // 3. Convert the buffered image into an ImageIcon for return
    return (new ImageIcon(resizedImg));
}

javascript: get a function's variable's value within another function

Your nameContent variable is inside the function scope and not visible outside that function so if you want to use the nameContent outside of the function then declare it global inside the <script> tag and use inside functions without the var keyword as follows

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    var nameContent; // In the global scope
    function first(){
        nameContent=document.getElementById('full_name').value;
    }

    function second() {
        first();
        y=nameContent;
        alert(y);
    }
    second();
</script>

Http 415 Unsupported Media type error with JSON

I had the same issue. My problem was complicated object for serialization. One attribute of my object was Map<Object1, List<Object2>>. I changed this attribute like List<Object3> where Object3 contains Object1 and Object2 and everything works fine.

How to process a file in PowerShell line-by-line as a stream

If you are really about to work on multi-gigabyte text files then do not use PowerShell. Even if you find a way to read it faster processing of huge amount of lines will be slow in PowerShell anyway and you cannot avoid this. Even simple loops are expensive, say for 10 million iterations (quite real in your case) we have:

# "empty" loop: takes 10 seconds
measure-command { for($i=0; $i -lt 10000000; ++$i) {} }

# "simple" job, just output: takes 20 seconds
measure-command { for($i=0; $i -lt 10000000; ++$i) { $i } }

# "more real job": 107 seconds
measure-command { for($i=0; $i -lt 10000000; ++$i) { $i.ToString() -match '1' } }

UPDATE: If you are still not scared then try to use the .NET reader:

$reader = [System.IO.File]::OpenText("my.log")
try {
    for() {
        $line = $reader.ReadLine()
        if ($line -eq $null) { break }
        # process the line
        $line
    }
}
finally {
    $reader.Close()
}

UPDATE 2

There are comments about possibly better / shorter code. There is nothing wrong with the original code with for and it is not pseudo-code. But the shorter (shortest?) variant of the reading loop is

$reader = [System.IO.File]::OpenText("my.log")
while($null -ne ($line = $reader.ReadLine())) {
    $line
}

Split string with JavaScript

Assuming you're using jQuery..

var input = '19 51 2.108997\n20 47 2.1089';
var lines = input.split('\n');
var output = '';
$.each(lines, function(key, line) {
    var parts = line.split(' ');
    output += '<span>' + parts[0] + ' ' + parts[1] + '</span><span>' + parts[2] + '</span>\n';
});
$(output).appendTo('body');

How do I escape only single quotes?

In some cases, I just convert it into ENTITIES:

                        // i.e.,  $x= ABC\DEFGH'IJKL
$x = str_ireplace("'",  "&apos;", $x);
$x = str_ireplace("\\", "&bsol;", $x);
$x = str_ireplace('"',  "&quot;", $x);

On the HTML page, the visual output is the same:

ABC\DEFGH'IJKL

However, it is sanitized in source.

div background color, to change onhover

html code:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <head><title>this is your web page</title></head>
    <body>
    <div class = "nicecolor"></div>
    </body>
    </html>

css code:

    .nicecolor {
      color:red;
      width:200px;
      height:200px;
     }

    .nicecolor:hover {
      color:blue;
     }

and thats how youll change your div from red to blue by hovering over it.

Why does z-index not work?

The z-index property only works on elements with a position value other than static (e.g. position: absolute;, position: relative;, or position: fixed).

There is also position: sticky; that is supported in Firefox, is prefixed in Safari, worked for a time in older versions of Chrome under a custom flag, and is under consideration by Microsoft to add to their Edge browser.

Important
For regular positioning, be sure to include position: relative on the elements where you also set the z-index. Otherwise, it won't take effect.

how to check if the input is a number or not in C?

Using fairly simple code:

    n = sscanf(argv[i], "%d%c", &value, &ch);

    if (n != 1) {

    }
    else {

NoClassDefFoundError on Maven dependency

when I try to run it, I get NoClassDefFoundError

Run it how? You're probably trying to run it with eclipse without having correctly imported your maven classpath. See the m2eclipse plugin for integrating maven with eclipse for that.

To verify that your maven config is correct, you could run your app with the exec plugin using:

mvn exec:java -D exec.mainClass=<your main class>

Update: First, regarding your error when running exec:java, your main class is tr.edu.hacettepe.cs.b21127113.bil138_4.App. When talking about class names, they're (almost) always dot-separated. The simple class name is just the last part: App in your case. The fully-qualified name is the full package plus the simple class name, and that's what you give to maven or java when you want to run something. What you were trying to use was a file system path to a source file. That's an entirely different beast. A class name generally translates directly to a class file that's found in the class path, as compared to a source file in the file system. In your specific case, the class file in question would probably be at target/classes/tr/edu/hacettepe/cs/b21127113/bil138_4/App.class because maven compiles to target/classes, and java traditionally creates a directory for each level of packaging.

Your original problem is simply that you haven't put the Jackson jars on your class path. When you run a java program from the command line, you have to set the class path to let it know where it can load classes from. You've added your own jar, but not the other required ones. Your comment makes me think you don't understand how to manually build a class path. In short, the class path can have two things: directories containing class files and jars containing class files. Directories containing jars won't work. For more details on building a class path, see "Setting the class path" and the java and javac tool documentation.

Your class path would need to be at least, and without the line feeds:

target/bil138_4-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar:
/home/utdemir/.m2/repository/org/codehaus/jackson/jackson-core-asl/1.9.6/jackson-core-asl-1.9.6.jar:
/home/utdemir/.m2/repository/org/codehaus/jackson/jackson-mapper-asl/1.9.6/jackson-mapper-asl-1.9.6.jar

Note that the separator on Windows is a semicolon (;).

I apologize for not noticing it sooner. The problem was sitting there in your original post, but I missed it.

Why does Java have an "unreachable statement" compiler error?

Because unreachable code is meaningless to the compiler. Whilst making code meaningful to people is both paramount and harder than making it meaningful to a compiler, the compiler is the essential consumer of code. The designers of Java take the viewpoint that code that is not meaningful to the compiler is an error. Their stance is that if you have some unreachable code, you have made a mistake that needs to be fixed.

There is a similar question here: Unreachable code: error or warning?, in which the author says "Personally I strongly feel it should be an error: if the programmer writes a piece of code, it should always be with the intention of actually running it in some scenario." Obviously the language designers of Java agree.

Whether unreachable code should prevent compilation is a question on which there will never be consensus. But this is why the Java designers did it.

A number of people in comments point out that there are many classes of unreachable code Java doesn't prevent compiling. If I understand the consequences of Gödel correctly, no compiler can possibly catch all classes of unreachable code.

Unit tests cannot catch every single bug. We don't use this as an argument against their value. Likewise a compiler can't catch all problematic code, but it is still valuable for it to prevent compilation of bad code when it can.

The Java language designers consider unreachable code an error. So preventing it compiling when possible is reasonable.

(Before you downvote: the question is not whether or not Java should have an unreachable statement compiler error. The question is why Java has an unreachable statement compiler error. Don't downvote me just because you think Java made the wrong design decision.)

Div Background Image Z-Index Issue

For z-index to work, you also need to give it a position:

header {
    width: 100%;
    height: 100px;
    background: url(../img/top.png) repeat-x;
    z-index: 110;
    position: relative;
}

How to avoid "cannot load such file -- utils/popen" from homebrew on OSX

To me it feels like you have missing header files for popen, which is a C system library.

Regex (grep) for multi-line search needed

I am not very good in grep. But your problem can be solved using AWK command. Just see

awk '/select/,/from/' *.sql

The above code will result from first occurence of select till first sequence of from. Now you need to verify whether returned statements are having customername or not. For this you can pipe the result. And can use awk or grep again.

Visual Studio: Relative Assembly References Paths

Probably, the easiest way to achieve this is to simply add the reference to the assembly and then (manually) patch the textual representation of the reference in the corresponding Visual Studio project file (extension .csproj) such that it becomes relative.

I've done this plenty of times in VS 2005 without any problems.

How to add a button dynamically in Android?

Try this code

 Button btn=new Button(this);
btn.setId(btn);
btn.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.image);
btn.setMinimumHeight(150);
btn.setMinimumWidth(150);
Relativelayout.addView(btn);

Do conditional INSERT with SQL?

It is possible with EXISTS condition. WHERE EXISTS tests for the existence of any records in a subquery. EXISTS returns true if the subquery returns one or more records. Here is an example

UPDATE  TABLE_NAME
SET val1=arg1 , val2=arg2
WHERE NOT EXISTS
    (SELECT FROM TABLE_NAME WHERE val1=arg1 AND val2=arg2)

Virtualhost For Wildcard Subdomain and Static Subdomain

<VirtualHost *:80>
  DocumentRoot /var/www/app1
  ServerName app1.example.com
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
  DocumentRoot /var/www/example
  ServerName example.com
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
  DocumentRoot /var/www/wildcard
  ServerName other.example.com
  ServerAlias *.example.com
</VirtualHost>

Should work. The first entry will become the default if you don't get an explicit match. So if you had app.otherexample.com point to it, it would be caught be app1.example.com.

How to add Options Menu to Fragment in Android

In your menu folder make a .menu xml file and add this xml

<item
    android:id="@+id/action_search"
    android:icon="@android:drawable/ic_menu_search"
    android:title="@string/action_search"
    app:actionViewClass="android.support.v7.widget.SearchView"
    app:showAsAction="always|collapseActionView" />

In your fragment class overide this method and

implement SearchView.OnQueryTextListener in your fragment class

@Override
 public void onViewCreated(View view, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
  super.onViewCreated(view, savedInstanceState);
  setHasOptionsMenu(true);

}

Now just setup your menu xml file in fragment class

@Override
public void onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu, MenuInflater inflater) {
    inflater.inflate(R.menu.menu_main, menu);

    final MenuItem item = menu.findItem(R.id.action_search);
    final SearchView searchView = (SearchView)
    MenuItemCompat.getActionView(item);

    MenuItemCompat.setOnActionExpandListener(item,
            new MenuItemCompat.OnActionExpandListener() {
                @Override
                public boolean onMenuItemActionCollapse(MenuItem item) {
                    // Do something when collapsed

                    return true; // Return true to collapse action view
                }

                @Override
                public boolean onMenuItemActionExpand(MenuItem item) {
                    // Do something when expanded
                    return true; // Return true to expand action view
                }
            });

}

matrix multiplication algorithm time complexity

Using linear algebra, there exist algorithms that achieve better complexity than the naive O(n3). Solvay Strassen algorithm achieves a complexity of O(n2.807) by reducing the number of multiplications required for each 2x2 sub-matrix from 8 to 7.

The fastest known matrix multiplication algorithm is Coppersmith-Winograd algorithm with a complexity of O(n2.3737). Unless the matrix is huge, these algorithms do not result in a vast difference in computation time. In practice, it is easier and faster to use parallel algorithms for matrix multiplication.

Using comma as list separator with AngularJS

I like simbu's approach, but I ain't comfortable to use first-child or last-child. Instead I only modify the content of a repeating list-comma class.

.list-comma + .list-comma::before {
    content: ', ';
}
<span class="list-comma" ng-repeat="destination in destinations">
    {{destination.name}}

Exec : display stdout "live"

child_process.spawn returns an object with stdout and stderr streams. You can tap on the stdout stream to read data that the child process sends back to Node. stdout being a stream has the "data", "end", and other events that streams have. spawn is best used to when you want the child process to return a large amount of data to Node - image processing, reading binary data etc.

so you can solve your problem using child_process.spawn as used below.

var spawn = require('child_process').spawn,
ls = spawn('coffee -cw my_file.coffee');

ls.stdout.on('data', function (data) {
  console.log('stdout: ' + data.toString());
});

ls.stderr.on('data', function (data) {
  console.log('stderr: ' + data.toString());
});

ls.on('exit', function (code) {
  console.log('code ' + code.toString());
});

How do I check if a Socket is currently connected in Java?

  • socket.isConnected() returns always true once the client connects (and even after the disconnect) weird !!
  • socket.getInputStream().read()
    • makes the thread wait for input as long as the client is connected and therefore makes your program not do anything - except if you get some input
    • returns -1 if the client disconnected
  • socket.getInetAddress().isReachable(int timeout): From isReachable(int timeout)

    Test whether that address is reachable. Best effort is made by the implementation to try to reach the host, but firewalls and server configuration may block requests resulting in a unreachable status while some specific ports may be accessible. A typical implementation will use ICMP ECHO REQUESTs if the privilege can be obtained, otherwise it will try to establish a TCP connection on port 7 (Echo) of the destination host.

Removing duplicate objects with Underscore for Javascript

here's my solution (coffeescript) :

_.mixin
  deepUniq: (coll) ->
    result = []
    remove_first_el_duplicates = (coll2) ->

      rest = _.rest(coll2)
      first = _.first(coll2)
      result.push first
      equalsFirst = (el) -> _.isEqual(el,first)

      newColl = _.reject rest, equalsFirst

      unless _.isEmpty newColl
        remove_first_el_duplicates newColl

    remove_first_el_duplicates(coll)
    result

example:

_.deepUniq([ {a:1,b:12}, [ 2, 1, 2, 1 ], [ 1, 2, 1, 2 ],[ 2, 1, 2, 1 ], {a:1,b:12} ])
//=> [ { a: 1, b: 12 }, [ 2, 1, 2, 1 ], [ 1, 2, 1, 2 ] ]

How to initialize all members of an array to the same value?

A slightly tongue-in-cheek answer; write the statement

array = initial_value

in your favourite array-capable language (mine is Fortran, but there are many others), and link it to your C code. You'd probably want to wrap it up to be an external function.

How to split a string with any whitespace chars as delimiters

In most regex dialects there are a set of convenient character summaries you can use for this kind of thing - these are good ones to remember:

\w - Matches any word character.

\W - Matches any nonword character.

\s - Matches any white-space character.

\S - Matches anything but white-space characters.

\d - Matches any digit.

\D - Matches anything except digits.

A search for "Regex Cheatsheets" should reward you with a whole lot of useful summaries.

Differences between key, superkey, minimal superkey, candidate key and primary key

Largely based on the accepted answer, but with a few tweaks to fit better the definitions taught in some courses:

  • Key: A set of = 1 columns.
  • Superkey: A key that ? a candidate key.
    • Therefore, a superkey must contain > 1 columns.
    • Minimal Super key = Candidate Key: A key that can uniquely identify each row in a table.
    • Primary Key: The chosen Candidate Key for doing that.
    • Secondary key / Alternate key: A Candidate Key not chosen for doing that.
  • Search Key: A key used for locating records.
  • Composite key or concatenate key: A key with > 1 columns.
    • Usually implies "composite primary key", although "composite alternate key" is also a thing.
  • Sort or control key: A key used to physically sequence the stored data.
  • Foreign Key A key in one table that matches the Primary Key of another table.
    • The table in which foreign key resides is called as dependent table.
    • The table to which foreign key refers is known as parent table.

How to send a simple string between two programs using pipes?

From Creating Pipes in C, this shows you how to fork a program to use a pipe. If you don't want to fork(), you can use named pipes.

In addition, you can get the effect of prog1 | prog2 by sending output of prog1 to stdout and reading from stdin in prog2. You can also read stdin by opening a file named /dev/stdin (but not sure of the portability of that).

SQL exclude a column using SELECT * [except columnA] FROM tableA?

I know this is a little old, but I had just run into the same issue and was looking for an answer. Then I had a senior developer show me a very simple trick.

If you are using the management studio query editor, expand the database, then expand the table that you are selecting from so that you can see the columns folder.

In your select statement, just highlight the referenced columns folder above and drag and drop it into the query window. It will paste all of the columns of the table, then just simply remove the identity column from the list of columns...

What .NET collection provides the fastest search

If it's possible to sort your items then there is a much faster way to do this then doing key lookups into a hashtable or b-tree. Though if you're items aren't sortable you can't really put them into a b-tree anyway.

Anyway, if sortable sort both lists then it's just a matter of walking the lookup list in order.

Walk lookup list
   While items in check list <= lookup list item
     if check list item = lookup list item do something
   Move to next lookup list item

CodeIgniter: How to get Controller, Action, URL information

The methods are deprecated.

$this->router->fetch_class();
$this->router->fetch_method();

You can access the properties instead.

$this->router->class;
$this->router->method;

See codeigniter user guide

URI Routing methods fetch_directory(), fetch_class(), fetch_method()

With properties CI_Router::$directory, CI_Router::$class and CI_Router::$method being public and their respective fetch_*() no longer doing anything else to just return the properties - it doesn’t make sense to keep them.

Those are all internal, undocumented methods, but we’ve opted to deprecate them for now in order to maintain backwards-compatibility just in case. If some of you have utilized them, then you can now just access the properties instead:

$this->router->directory;
$this->router->class;
$this->router->method;

Similarity String Comparison in Java

I translated the Levenshtein distance algorithm into JavaScript:

String.prototype.LevenshteinDistance = function (s2) {
    var array = new Array(this.length + 1);
    for (var i = 0; i < this.length + 1; i++)
        array[i] = new Array(s2.length + 1);

    for (var i = 0; i < this.length + 1; i++)
        array[i][0] = i;
    for (var j = 0; j < s2.length + 1; j++)
        array[0][j] = j;

    for (var i = 1; i < this.length + 1; i++) {
        for (var j = 1; j < s2.length + 1; j++) {
            if (this[i - 1] == s2[j - 1]) array[i][j] = array[i - 1][j - 1];
            else {
                array[i][j] = Math.min(array[i][j - 1] + 1, array[i - 1][j] + 1);
                array[i][j] = Math.min(array[i][j], array[i - 1][j - 1] + 1);
            }
        }
    }
    return array[this.length][s2.length];
};

Replace words in the body text

I was trying to replace a really large string and for some reason regular expressions were throwing some errors/exceptions.

So I found this alternative to regular expressions which also runs pretty fast. At least it was fast enough for me:

var search = "search string";
var replacement = "replacement string";

document.body.innerHTML = document.body.innerHTML.split(search).join(replacement)

How can I set size of a button?

Try with setPreferredSize instead of setSize.

UPDATE: GridLayout take up all space in its container, and BoxLayout seams to take up all the width in its container, so I added some glue-panels that are invisible and just take up space when the user stretches the window. I have just done this horizontally, and not vertically, but you could implement that in the same way if you want it.

Since GridLayout make all cells in the same size, it doesn't matter if they have a specified size. You have to specify a size for its container instead, as I have done.

import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;

public class PanelModel {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        JFrame frame = new JFrame("Colored Trails");
        frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);

        JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel();
        mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS));

        JPanel firstPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(4, 4));
        firstPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(4*100, 4*100));
        for (int i=1; i<=4; i++) {
            for (int j=1; j<=4; j++) {
                firstPanel.add(new JButton());
            }
        }

        JPanel firstGluePanel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout());
        firstGluePanel.add(firstPanel, BorderLayout.WEST);
        firstGluePanel.add(Box.createHorizontalGlue(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
        firstGluePanel.add(Box.createVerticalGlue(), BorderLayout.SOUTH);

        JPanel secondPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(13, 5));
        secondPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(5*40, 13*40));
        for (int i=1; i<=5; i++) {
            for (int j=1; j<=13; j++) {
                secondPanel.add(new JButton());
            }
        }

        secondGluePanel.add(Box.createHorizontalGlue(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
        secondGluePanel.add(Box.createVerticalGlue(), BorderLayout.SOUTH);

        mainPanel.add(firstGluePanel);
        mainPanel.add(secondGluePanel);
        frame.getContentPane().add(mainPanel);

Wrapping text inside input type="text" element HTML/CSS

To create a text input in which the value under the hood is a single line string but is presented to the user in a word-wrapped format you can use the contenteditable attribute on a <div> or other element:

_x000D_
const el = document.querySelector('div[contenteditable]');_x000D_
_x000D_
// Get value from element on input events_x000D_
el.addEventListener('input', () => console.log(el.textContent));_x000D_
_x000D_
// Set some value_x000D_
el.textContent = 'Lorem ipsum curae magna venenatis mattis, purus luctus cubilia quisque in et, leo enim aliquam consequat.'
_x000D_
div[contenteditable] {_x000D_
  border: 1px solid black;_x000D_
  width: 200px;_x000D_
}

String formatting: % vs. .format vs. string literal

One situation where % may help is when you are formatting regex expressions. For example,

'{type_names} [a-z]{2}'.format(type_names='triangle|square')

raises IndexError. In this situation, you can use:

'%(type_names)s [a-z]{2}' % {'type_names': 'triangle|square'}

This avoids writing the regex as '{type_names} [a-z]{{2}}'. This can be useful when you have two regexes, where one is used alone without format, but the concatenation of both is formatted.

C# Ignore certificate errors?

Allowing all certificates is very powerful but it could also be dangerous. If you would like to only allow valid certificates plus some certain certificates it could be done like this.

.Net core:

using (var httpClientHandler = new HttpClientHandler())
{
    httpClientHandler.ServerCertificateCustomValidationCallback = (message, cert, chain, sslPolicyErrors) => {
        if (sslPolicyErrors == SslPolicyErrors.None)
        {
            return true;   //Is valid
        }

        if (cert.GetCertHashString() == "99E92D8447AEF30483B1D7527812C9B7B3A915A7")
        {
            return true;
        }

How to get cert.GetCertHashString() value in Chrome:

Click on Secure or Not Secure in the address bar.

Then click on Certificate -> Details -> Thumbprint and copy the value. Remember to do cert.GetCertHashString().ToLower().

JSONDecodeError: Expecting value: line 1 column 1

If you look at the output you receive from print() and also in your Traceback, you'll see the value you get back is not a string, it's a bytes object (prefixed by b):

b'{\n  "note":"This file    .....

If you fetch the URL using a tool such as curl -v, you will see that the content type is

Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8

So it's JSON, encoded as UTF-8, and Python is considering it a byte stream, not a simple string. In order to parse this, you need to convert it into a string first.

Change the last line of code to this:

info = json.loads(js.decode("utf-8"))

Get current batchfile directory

System read-only variable %CD% keeps the path of the caller of the batch, not the batch file location.

You can get the name of the batch script itself as typed by the user with %0 (e.g. scripts\mybatch.bat). Parameter extensions can be applied to this so %~dp0 will return the Drive and Path to the batch script (e.g. W:\scripts\) and %~f0 will return the full pathname (e.g. W:\scripts\mybatch.cmd).

You can refer to other files in the same folder as the batch script by using this syntax:

CALL %0\..\SecondBatch.cmd

This can even be used in a subroutine, Echo %0 will give the call label but, echo "%~nx0" will give you the filename of the batch script.

When the %0 variable is expanded, the result is enclosed in quotation marks.

5. Enable "Less Secure Apps" In Gmail using help of below link

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255

6. Send A Test Email

mail -s "subject" [email protected]

press enter

add body of mail as your wish press enter then press ctrl+d for proper termination

if it not working check the all steps again and check if u enable "less secure app" in your gmail

then restart postfix if u modify anything in that

for shell script create the .sh file and add 6 step command as your requirement

for example just for a sample

#!/bin/bash
REALVALUE=$(df / | grep / | awk '{ print $5}' | sed 's/%//g')
THRESHOLD=80

if [ "$REALVALUE" -gt "$THRESHOLD" ] ; then
    mail -s 'Disk Space Alert' [email protected] << EOF
Your root partition remaining free space is critically low. Used: $REALVALUE%
EOF
fi

The script sends an email when the disk usage rises above the percentage specified by the THRESHOLD varialbe (80% here).

Use jQuery to change an HTML tag?

Is there a specific reason that you need to change the tag? If you just want to make the text bigger, changing the p tag's CSS class would be a better way to go about that.

Something like this:

$('#change').click(function(){
  $('p').addClass('emphasis');
});

I need to learn Web Services in Java. What are the different types in it?

If your application often uses http protocol then REST is best because of its light weight, and knowing that your application uses only http protocol choosing SOAP is not so good because it heavy,Better to make decision on web service selection based on the protocols we use in our applications.

The conversion of the varchar value overflowed an int column

Declare @phoneNumber int

select @phoneNumber=Isnull('08041159620',0);

Give error :

The conversion of the varchar value '8041159620' overflowed an int column.: select cast('8041159620' as int)

AS

Integer is defined as :

Integer (whole number) data from -2^31 (-2,147,483,648) through 2^31 - 1 (2,147,483,647). Storage size is 4 bytes. The SQL-92 synonym for int is integer.

Solution

Declare @phoneNumber bigint

#pragma mark in Swift?

I think Extensions is a better way instead of #pragma mark.

The Code before using Extensions:

class ViewController: UIViewController, UICollectionViewDataSource, UICollectionViewDelegate {
    ...

    func collectionView(_ collectionView: UICollectionView, numberOfItemsInSection section: Int) -> Int {
        ...
    }

    func collectionView(_ collectionView: UICollectionView, cellForItemAt indexPath: IndexPath) -> UICollectionViewCell {

    }

    func collectionView(_ collectionView: UICollectionView, didSelectItemAt indexPath: IndexPath) {

How to convert an array into an object using stdClass()

One of the easiest solution is

SQL SELECT WHERE field contains words

Note that if you use LIKE to determine if a string is a substring of another string, you must escape the pattern matching characters in your search string.

If your SQL dialect supports CHARINDEX, it's a lot easier to use it instead:

SELECT * FROM MyTable
WHERE CHARINDEX('word1', Column1) > 0
  AND CHARINDEX('word2', Column1) > 0
  AND CHARINDEX('word3', Column1) > 0

Also, please keep in mind that this and the method in the accepted answer only cover substring matching rather than word matching. So, for example, the string 'word1word2word3' would still match.

Passing an array to a query using a WHERE clause

BEWARE! This answer contains a severe SQL injection vulnerability. Do NOT use the code samples as presented here, without making sure that any external input is sanitized.

$ids = join("','",$galleries);
$sql = "SELECT * FROM galleries WHERE id IN ('$ids')";

Where is the php.ini file on a Linux/CentOS PC?

In your terminal/console (only Linux, in windows you need Putty)

ssh user@ip
php -i | grep "Loaded Configuration File"

And it will show you something like this Loaded Configuration File => /etc/php.ini.

ALTERNATIVE METHOD

You can make a php file on your website, which run: <?php phpinfo(); ?>, and you can see the php.ini location on the line with: "Loaded Configuration File".

Update This command gives the path right away

cli_php_ini=php -i | grep /.+/php.ini -oE  #ref. https://stackoverflow.com/a/15763333/248616
    php_ini="${cli_php_ini/cli/apache2}"   #replace cli by apache2 ref. https://stackoverflow.com/a/13210909/248616

Increase max execution time for php

Well, since your on a shared server, you can't do anything about it. They usually set the max execution time so that you can't override it. I suggest you contact them.

Fetching distinct values on a column using Spark DataFrame

This solution demonstrates how to transform data with Spark native functions which are better than UDFs. It also demonstrates how dropDuplicates which is more suitable than distinct for certain queries.

Suppose you have this DataFrame:

+-------+-------------+
|country|    continent|
+-------+-------------+
|  china|         asia|
| brazil|south america|
| france|       europe|
|  china|         asia|
+-------+-------------+

Here's how to take all the distinct countries and run a transformation:

df
  .select("country")
  .distinct
  .withColumn("country", concat(col("country"), lit(" is fun!")))
  .show()
+--------------+
|       country|
+--------------+
|brazil is fun!|
|france is fun!|
| china is fun!|
+--------------+

You can use dropDuplicates instead of distinct if you don't want to lose the continent information:

df
  .dropDuplicates("country")
  .withColumn("description", concat(col("country"), lit(" is a country in "), col("continent")))
  .show(false)
+-------+-------------+------------------------------------+
|country|continent    |description                         |
+-------+-------------+------------------------------------+
|brazil |south america|brazil is a country in south america|
|france |europe       |france is a country in europe       |
|china  |asia         |china is a country in asia          |
+-------+-------------+------------------------------------+

See here for more information about filtering DataFrames and here for more information on dropping duplicates.

Ultimately, you'll want to wrap your transformation logic in custom transformations that can be chained with the Dataset#transform method.

How to modify values of JsonObject / JsonArray directly?

Strangely, the answer is to keep adding back the property. I was half expecting a setter method. :S

System.out.println("Before: " + obj.get("DebugLogId")); // original "02352"

obj.addProperty("DebugLogId", "YYY");

System.out.println("After: " + obj.get("DebugLogId")); // now "YYY"

Passing variables through handlebars partial

Handlebars partials take a second parameter which becomes the context for the partial:

{{> person this}}

In versions v2.0.0 alpha and later, you can also pass a hash of named parameters:

{{> person headline='Headline'}}

You can see the tests for these scenarios: https://github.com/wycats/handlebars.js/blob/ce74c36118ffed1779889d97e6a2a1028ae61510/spec/qunit_spec.js#L456-L462 https://github.com/wycats/handlebars.js/blob/e290ec24f131f89ddf2c6aeb707a4884d41c3c6d/spec/partials.js#L26-L32

Using filesystem in node.js with async / await

Node.js 8.0.0

Native async / await

Promisify

From this version, you can use native Node.js function from util library.

const fs = require('fs')
const { promisify } = require('util')

const readFileAsync = promisify(fs.readFile)
const writeFileAsync = promisify(fs.writeFile)

const run = async () => {
  const res = await readFileAsync('./data.json')
  console.log(res)
}

run()

Promise Wrapping

const fs = require('fs')

const readFile = (path, opts = 'utf8') =>
  new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
    fs.readFile(path, opts, (err, data) => {
      if (err) reject(err)
      else resolve(data)
    })
  })

const writeFile = (path, data, opts = 'utf8') =>
  new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
    fs.writeFile(path, data, opts, (err) => {
      if (err) reject(err)
      else resolve()
    })
  })

module.exports = {
  readFile,
  writeFile
}

...

// in some file, with imported functions above
// in async block
const run = async () => {
  const res = await readFile('./data.json')
  console.log(res)
}

run()

Advice

Always use try..catch for await blocks, if you don't want to rethrow exception upper.

Clear all fields in a form upon going back with browser back button

If you need to compatible with older browsers as well "pageshow" option might not work. Following code worked for me.

$(window).load(function() {
    $('form').get(0).reset(); //clear form data on page load
});

How can I kill all sessions connecting to my oracle database?

If you want to stop new users from connecting, but allow current sessions to continue until they are inactive, you can put the database in QUIESCE mode:

ALTER SYSTEM QUIESCE RESTRICTED;

From the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide:

Non-DBA active sessions will continue until they become inactive. An active session is one that is currently inside of a transaction, a query, a fetch, or a PL/SQL statement; or a session that is currently holding any shared resources (for example, enqueues). No inactive sessions are allowed to become active...Once all non-DBA sessions become inactive, the ALTER SYSTEM QUIESCE RESTRICTED statement completes, and the database is in a quiesced state

What does %w(array) mean?

There is also %s that allows you to create any symbols, for example:

%s|some words|          #Same as :'some words'
%s[other words] #Same as :'other words'
%s_last example_ #Same as :'last example'

Since Ruby 2.0.0 you also have:

%i( a b c )   # => [ :a, :b, :c ]
%i[ a b c ]   # => [ :a, :b, :c ]
%i_ a b c _   # => [ :a, :b, :c ]
# etc...

moving committed (but not pushed) changes to a new branch after pull

  1. Checkout fresh copy of you sources

    git clone ........

  2. Make branch from desired position

    git checkout {position} git checkout -b {branch-name}

  3. Add remote repository

    git remote add shared ../{original sources location}.git

  4. Get remote sources

    git fetch shared

  5. Checkout desired branch

    git checkout {branch-name}

  6. Merge sources

    git merge shared/{original branch from shared repository}

Capturing multiple line output into a Bash variable

After trying most of the solutions here, the easiest thing I found was the obvious - using a temp file. I'm not sure what you want to do with your multiple line output, but you can then deal with it line by line using read. About the only thing you can't really do is easily stick it all in the same variable, but for most practical purposes this is way easier to deal with.

./myscript.sh > /tmp/foo
while read line ; do
    echo 'whatever you want to do with $line'
done < /tmp/foo

Quick hack to make it do the requested action:

result=""
./myscript.sh > /tmp/foo
while read line ; do
  result="$result$line\n"
done < /tmp/foo
echo -e $result

Note this adds an extra line. If you work on it you can code around it, I'm just too lazy.

EDIT: While this case works perfectly well, people reading this should be aware that you can easily squash your stdin inside the while loop, thus giving you a script that will run one line, clear stdin, and exit. Like ssh will do that I think? I just saw it recently, other code examples here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/24260/reading-lines-from-a-file-with-bash-for-vs-while

One more time! This time with a different filehandle (stdin, stdout, stderr are 0-2, so we can use &3 or higher in bash).

result=""
./test>/tmp/foo
while read line  <&3; do
    result="$result$line\n"
done 3</tmp/foo
echo -e $result

you can also use mktemp, but this is just a quick code example. Usage for mktemp looks like:

filenamevar=`mktemp /tmp/tempXXXXXX`
./test > $filenamevar

Then use $filenamevar like you would the actual name of a file. Probably doesn't need to be explained here but someone complained in the comments.

Palindrome check in Javascript

I used a ternary in this case to keep track of the index backwards:

function palindromeCheck(string) {
  let str = string.toLowerCase();
  let palindrome;
   for (let i = 0; i < str.length; i++) {
    if (str[i] === str[str.length - (i == 0 ? 1 : i + 1)]) {
    palindrome = true;
    } else {
      palindrome = false;
   }
}

How do you 'redo' changes after 'undo' with Emacs?

Doom Emacs users, I hope you've scrolled this far or searched for 'doom' on the page...

  • Doom Emacs breaks the vanilla Emacs redo shortcut: C-g C-/ C-/ C-/ etc (or C-g C-_ C-_ C-_ etc) ...and instead that just keeps undoing.
  • Doom Emacs also breaks the undo-tree redo shortcut mentioned in one of the other answers as being useful for spacemacs etc: S-C-/ (AKA C-?) ...and instead that throws the error "C-? is not defined".

What you need is:

  • to be in evil-mode (C-z to toggle in and out of evil-mode) (in evil-mode should see blue cursor, not orange cursor) and
  • to be in 'command mode' AKA 'normal mode' (as opposed to 'insert mode') (Esc to switch to command mode) (should see block cursor, not line cursor), and then it's
  • u for undo and
  • C-r for redo

Mocking methods of local scope objects with Mockito

You could avoid changing the code (although I recommend Boris' answer) and mock the constructor, like in this example for mocking the creation of a File object inside a method. Don't forget to put the class that will create the file in the @PrepareForTest.

package hello.easymock.constructor;

import java.io.File;

import org.easymock.EasyMock;
import org.junit.Assert;
import org.junit.Test;
import org.junit.runner.RunWith;
import org.powermock.api.easymock.PowerMock;
import org.powermock.core.classloader.annotations.PrepareForTest;
import org.powermock.modules.junit4.PowerMockRunner;

@RunWith(PowerMockRunner.class)
@PrepareForTest({File.class})
public class ConstructorExampleTest {

    @Test
    public void testMockFile() throws Exception {

        // first, create a mock for File
        final File fileMock = EasyMock.createMock(File.class);
        EasyMock.expect(fileMock.getAbsolutePath()).andReturn("/my/fake/file/path");
        EasyMock.replay(fileMock);

        // then return the mocked object if the constructor is invoked
        Class<?>[] parameterTypes = new Class[] { String.class };
        PowerMock.expectNew(File.class, parameterTypes , EasyMock.isA(String.class)).andReturn(fileMock);
        PowerMock.replay(File.class);

        // try constructing a real File and check if the mock kicked in
        final String mockedFilePath = new File("/real/path/for/file").getAbsolutePath();
        Assert.assertEquals("/my/fake/file/path", mockedFilePath);
    }
}

UITableView Separator line

you can try below:

UIView *separator = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, cell.contentView.frame.size.height - 1.0, cell.contentView.frame.size.width, 1)];
separator.backgroundColor = myColor;
[cell.contentView addSubview:separator];

or

- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
   UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"separator.png"]];
   imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 100, 320, 1);
   [customCell.contentView addSubview:imageView];

   return customCell;
}

How do I get the file extension of a file in Java?

Just a regular-expression based alternative. Not that fast, not that good.

Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("\\.([^.]*)$");
Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(fileName);

if (matcher.find()) {
    String ext = matcher.group(1);
}

SQL How to remove duplicates within select query?

here is the solution for your query returning only one row for each date in that table here in the solution 'tony' will occur twice as two different start dates are there for it

SELECT * FROM

    SELECT T1.*, ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY TRUNC(START_DATE),OWNER_NAME ORDER BY 1,2 DESC )  RNM
    FROM TABLE T1
)
WHERE RNM=1

Super-simple example of C# observer/observable with delegates

I've tied together a couple of the great examples above (thank you as always to Mr. Skeet and Mr. Karlsen) to include a couple of different Observables and utilized an interface to keep track of them in the Observer and allowed the Observer to to "observe" any number of Observables via an internal list:

namespace ObservablePattern
{
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;

    internal static class Program
    {
        private static void Main()
        {
            var observable = new Observable();
            var anotherObservable = new AnotherObservable();

            using (IObserver observer = new Observer(observable))
            {
                observable.DoSomething();
                observer.Add(anotherObservable);
                anotherObservable.DoSomething();
            }

            Console.ReadLine();
        }
    }

    internal interface IObservable
    {
        event EventHandler SomethingHappened;
    }

    internal sealed class Observable : IObservable
    {
        public event EventHandler SomethingHappened;

        public void DoSomething()
        {
            var handler = this.SomethingHappened;

            Console.WriteLine("About to do something.");
            if (handler != null)
            {
                handler(this, EventArgs.Empty);
            }
        }
    }

    internal sealed class AnotherObservable : IObservable
    {
        public event EventHandler SomethingHappened;

        public void DoSomething()
        {
            var handler = this.SomethingHappened;

            Console.WriteLine("About to do something different.");
            if (handler != null)
            {
                handler(this, EventArgs.Empty);
            }
        }
    }

    internal interface IObserver : IDisposable

How to reference image resources in XAML?

One of the benefit of using the resource file is accessing the resources by names, so the image can change, the image name can change, as long as the resource is kept up to date correct image will show up.

Here is a cleaner approach to accomplish this: Assuming Resources.resx is in 'UI.Images' namespace, add the namespace reference in your xaml like this:

xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
xmlns:UI="clr-namespace:UI.Images"

Set your Image source like this:

<Image Source={Binding {x:Static UI:Resources.Search}} /> where 'Search' is name of the resource.

Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS] when I tried to update my application

It might mean the application is already installed for another user on your device. Users share applications. I don't know why they do but they do. So if one user updates an application is updated for the other user also. If you uninstall on one, it doesn't remove the app from the system on the other.

Last element in .each() set

For future Googlers i've a different approach to check if it's last element. It's similar to last lines in OP question.

This directly compares elements rather than just checking index numbers.

$yourset.each(function() {
    var $this = $(this);
    if($this[0] === $yourset.last()[0]) {
        //$this is the last one
    }
});

Useful example of a shutdown hook in Java?

You could do the following:

  • Let the shutdown hook set some AtomicBoolean (or volatile boolean) "keepRunning" to false
  • (Optionally, .interrupt the working threads if they wait for data in some blocking call)
  • Wait for the working threads (executing writeBatch in your case) to finish, by calling the Thread.join() method on the working threads.
  • Terminate the program

Some sketchy code:

  • Add a static volatile boolean keepRunning = true;
  • In run() you change to

    for (int i = 0; i < N && keepRunning; ++i)
        writeBatch(pw, i);

  • In main() you add:

    final Thread mainThread = Thread.currentThread();
    Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(new Thread() {
        public void run() {
            keepRunning = false;
            mainThread.join();
        }
    });

That's roughly how I do a graceful "reject all clients upon hitting Control-C" in terminal.

From the docs:

When the virtual machine begins its shutdown sequence it will start all registered shutdown hooks in some unspecified order and let them run concurrently. When all the hooks have finished it will then run all uninvoked finalizers if finalization-on-exit has been enabled. Finally, the virtual machine will halt.

That is, a shutdown hook keeps the JVM running until the hook has terminated (returned from the run()-method.

What's "this" in JavaScript onclick?

When calling a function, the word "this" is a reference to the object that called the function.

In your example, it is a reference to the anchor element. At the other end, the function call then access member variables of the element through the parameter that was passed.

How to output an Excel *.xls file from classic ASP

You can always just export the HTML table to an XLS document. Excel does a pretty good job understanding HTML tables.

Another possiblitly is to export the HTML tables as a CSV or TSV file, but you would need to setup the formatting in your code. This isn't too difficult to accomplish.

There's some classes in the Microsoft.Office.Interop that allow you to create an Excel file programatically, but I have always found them to be a little clumsy. You can find a .NET version of creating a spreadsheet here, which should be pretty easy to modify for classic ASP.

As for .NET, I've always liked CarlosAG's Excel XML Writer Library. It has a nice generator so you can setup your Excel file, save it as an XML spreadsheet and it generates the code to do all the formatting and everything. I know it's not classic ASP, but I thought that I would throw it out there.

With what you're trying above, try adding the header:

"Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=excelTest.xls"

See if that works. Also, I always use this for the content type:

  Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
    Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"

MySql : Grant read only options?

A step by step guide I found here.

To create a read-only database user account for MySQL

At a UNIX prompt, run the MySQL command-line program, and log in as an administrator by typing the following command:

mysql -u root -p

Type the password for the root account. At the mysql prompt, do one of the following steps:

To give the user access to the database from any host, type the following command:

grant select on database_name.* to 'read-only_user_name'@'%' identified by 'password';

If the collector will be installed on the same host as the database, type the following command:

grant select on database_name.* to 'read-only_user_name' identified by 'password';

This command gives the user read-only access to the database from the local host only. If you know the host name or IP address of the host that the collector is will be installed on, type the following command:

grant select on database_name.* to 'read-only_user_name'@'host_name or IP_address' identified by 'password';

The host name must be resolvable by DNS or by the local hosts file. At the mysql prompt, type the following command:

flush privileges;

Type quit.

The following is a list of example commands and confirmation messages:

mysql> grant select on dbname.* to 'readonlyuser'@'%' identified
by 'pogo$23';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.11 sec)
mysql> flush privileges;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
mysql> quit

what is the differences between sql server authentication and windows authentication..?

Mssql Authentication is highly preferable where possible. It allows you to conform with an existing windows domain already used at your workplace, and you don't have to know your user's passwords.

However, It seems that it would not be possible for use in the occasion that the server's machine does not authenticate to your local workplace's intranet.

If you use sql authentication, security will be entirely up to you.

If you use microsoft authentication, security is essentially taken care of for you, but you'll be dealing with additional restrictions.

What is default session timeout in ASP.NET?

It is 20 Minutes according to MSDN

From MSDN:

Optional TimeSpan attribute.

Specifies the number of minutes a session can be idle before it is abandoned. The timeout attribute cannot be set to a value that is greater than 525,601 minutes (1 year) for the in-process and state-server modes. The session timeout configuration setting applies only to ASP.NET pages. Changing the session timeout value does not affect the session time-out for ASP pages. Similarly, changing the session time-out for ASP pages does not affect the session time-out for ASP.NET pages. The default is 20 minutes.

Shell script current directory?

Most answers get you the current path and are context sensitive. In order to run your script from any directory, use the below snippet.

DIR="$( cd "$( dirname "$0" )" && pwd )"

By switching directories in a subshell, we can then call pwd and get the correct path of the script regardless of context.

You can then use $DIR as "$DIR/path/to/file"

Reload parent window from child window

This working for me:

  window.close();

In this case Current tab will close and parent tab will refresh.

React: how to update state.item[1] in state using setState?

It's really simple.

First pull the entire items object from state, updated the part of the items object as desired, and put the entire items object back in state via setState.

handleChange: function (e) {
  items = Object.assign(this.state.items); // Pull the entire items object out. Using object.assign is a good idea for objects.
  items[1].name = 'newName'; // update the items object as needed
  this.setState({ items }); // Put back in state
}

Removing Duplicate Values from ArrayList

Simple function for removing duplicates from list

private void removeDuplicates(List<?> list)
{
    int count = list.size();

    for (int i = 0; i < count; i++)
    {
        for (int j = i + 1; j < count; j++)
        {
            if (list.get(i).equals(list.get(j)))
            {
                list.remove(j--);
                count--;
            }
        }
    }
}

Example:
Input: [1, 2, 2, 3, 1, 3, 3, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 1]
Output: [1, 2, 3, 4]

TypeError: 'tuple' object does not support item assignment when swapping values

Evaluating "1,2,3" results in (1, 2, 3), a tuple. As you've discovered, tuples are immutable. Convert to a list before processing.

How should I escape strings in JSON?

Ideally, find a JSON library in your language that you can feed some appropriate data structure to, and let it worry about how to escape things. It'll keep you much saner. If for whatever reason you don't have a library in your language, you don't want to use one (I wouldn't suggest thisÂą), or you're writing a JSON library, read on.

Escape it according to the RFC. JSON is pretty liberal: The only characters you must escape are \, ", and control codes (anything less than U+0020).

This structure of escaping is specific to JSON. You'll need a JSON specific function. All of the escapes can be written as \uXXXX where XXXX is the UTF-16 code unitÂą for that character. There are a few shortcuts, such as \\, which work as well. (And they result in a smaller and clearer output.)

For full details, see the RFC.

ÂąJSON's escaping is built on JS, so it uses \uXXXX, where XXXX is a UTF-16 code unit. For code points outside the BMP, this means encoding surrogate pairs, which can get a bit hairy. (Or, you can just output the character directly, since JSON's encoded for is Unicode text, and allows these particular characters.)

! [rejected] master -> master (fetch first)

Follow the steps given below as I also had the same problem:

$ git pull origin master --allow-unrelated-histories

(To see if local branch can be easily merged with remote one)

$ git push -u origin master

(Now push entire content of local git repository to your online repository)

How to allocate aligned memory only using the standard library?

If there are constraints that, you cannot waste a single byte, then this solution works: Note: There is a case where this may be executed infinitely :D

   void *mem;
   void *ptr;
try:
   mem =  malloc(1024);
   if (mem % 16 != 0) {
       free(mem);
       goto try;
   }
   ptr = mem;
   memset_16aligned(ptr, 0, 1024);

How to get HttpClient returning status code and response body?

You can avoid the BasicResponseHandler, but use the HttpResponse itself to get both status and response as a String.

int statusCode = response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode();

// Getting the response body.
String responseBody = EntityUtils.toString(response.getEntity());

shuffling/permutating a DataFrame in pandas

Here is a work around I found if you want to only shuffle a subset of the DataFrame:

df = pd.concat([df.iloc[np.random.permutation(range(shuffle_to_index))], df.iloc[shuffle_to_index:]])

How to check if a word is an English word with Python?

Using a set to store the word list because looking them up will be faster:

with open("english_words.txt") as word_file:
    english_words = set(word.strip().lower() for word in word_file)

def is_english_word(word):
    return word.lower() in english_words

print is_english_word("ham") # should be true if you have a good english_words.txt

To answer the second part of the question, the plurals would already be in a good word list, but if you wanted to specifically exclude those from the list for some reason, you could indeed write a function to handle it. But English pluralization rules are tricky enough that I'd just include the plurals in the word list to begin with.

As to where to find English word lists, I found several just by Googling "English word list". Here is one: http://www.sil.org/linguistics/wordlists/english/wordlist/wordsEn.txt You could Google for British or American English if you want specifically one of those dialects.

How to install OpenJDK 11 on Windows?

  1. Extract the zip file into a folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\ and it will create a jdk-11 folder (where the bin folder is a direct sub-folder). You may need Administrator privileges to extract the zip file to this location.

  2. Set a PATH:

    • Select Control Panel and then System.
    • Click Advanced and then Environment Variables.
    • Add the location of the bin folder of the JDK installation to the PATH variable in System Variables.
    • The following is a typical value for the PATH variable: C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;"C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11\bin"
  3. Set JAVA_HOME:

    • Under System Variables, click New.
    • Enter the variable name as JAVA_HOME.
    • Enter the variable value as the installation path of the JDK (without the bin sub-folder).
    • Click OK.
    • Click Apply Changes.
  4. Configure the JDK in your IDE (e.g. IntelliJ or Eclipse).

You are set.

To see if it worked, open up the Command Prompt and type java -version and see if it prints your newly installed JDK.

If you want to uninstall - just undo the above steps.

Note: You can also point JAVA_HOME to the folder of your JDK installations and then set the PATH variable to %JAVA_HOME%\bin. So when you want to change the JDK you change only the JAVA_HOME variable and leave PATH as it is.

How should I do integer division in Perl?

Integer division $x divided by $y ...

$z = -1 & $x / $y

How does it work?

$x / $y

return the floating point division

&

perform a bit-wise AND

-1

stands for

&HFFFFFFFF

for the largest integer ... whence

$z = -1 & $x / $y

gives the integer division ...

How to create a multiline UITextfield?

Ok I did it with some trick ;) First build a UITextField and increased it's size like this :

CGRect frameRect = textField.frame;
        frameRect.size.height = 53;
        textField.frame = frameRect;

Then build a UITextView exactly in the same area that u made my UITextField, and deleted its background color. Now it looks like that u have a multiple lines TextField !

Why is C so fast, and why aren't other languages as fast or faster?

Just step through the machine code in your IDE, and you'll see why it's faster (if it's faster). It leaves out a lot of hand-holding. Chances are your Cxx can also be told to leave it out too, in which case it should be about the same.

Compiler optimizations are overrated, as are almost all perceptions about language speed.

Optimization of generated code only makes a difference in hotspot code, that is, tight algorithms devoid of function calls (explicit or implicit). Anywhere else, it achieves very little.

Re-enabling window.alert in Chrome

UNC path to a folder on my local computer

If you're going to access your local computer (or any computer) using UNC, you'll need to setup a share. If you haven't already setup a share, you could use the default administrative shares. Example:

\\localhost\c$\my_dir

... accesses a folder called "my_dir" via UNC on your C: drive. By default all the hard drives on your machine are shared with hidden shares like c$, d$, etc.

Does it matter what extension is used for SQLite database files?

SQLite doesn't define any particular extension for this, it's your own choice. Personally, I name them with the .sqlite extension, just so there isn't any ambiguity when I'm looking at my files later.

Monitoring the Full Disclosure mailinglist

Two generic ways to do the same thing... I'm not aware of any specific open solutions to do this, but it'd be rather trivial to do.

You could write a daily or weekly cron/jenkins job to scrape the previous time period's email from the archive looking for your keyworkds/combinations. Sending a batch digest with what it finds, if anything.

But personally, I'd Setup a specific email account to subscribe to the various security lists you're interested in. Add a simple automated script to parse the new emails for various keywords or combinations of keywords, when it finds a match forward that email on to you/your team. Just be sure to keep the keywords list updated with new products you're using.

You could even do this with a gmail account and custom rules, which is what I currently do, but I have setup an internal inbox in the past with a simple python script to forward emails that were of interest.

Convert array into csv

A slight adaptation to the solution above by kingjeffrey for when you want to create and echo the CSV within a template (Ie - most frameworks will have output buffering enabled and you are required to set headers etc in controllers.)

// Create Some data
<?php
    $data = array(
        array( 'row_1_col_1', 'row_1_col_2', 'row_1_col_3' ),
        array( 'row_2_col_1', 'row_2_col_2', 'row_2_col_3' ),
        array( 'row_3_col_1', 'row_3_col_2', 'row_3_col_3' ),
    );

// Create a stream opening it with read / write mode
$stream = fopen('data://text/plain,' . "", 'w+');

// Iterate over the data, writting each line to the text stream
foreach ($data as $val) {
    fputcsv($stream, $val);
}

// Rewind the stream
rewind($stream);

// You can now echo it's content
echo stream_get_contents($stream);

// Close the stream
fclose($stream);

Credit to Kingjeffrey above and also to this blog post where I found the information about creating text streams.

How to specify "does not contain" in dplyr filter

Note that %in% returns a logical vector of TRUE and FALSE. To negate it, you can use ! in front of the logical statement:

SE_CSVLinelist_filtered <- filter(SE_CSVLinelist_clean,
 !where_case_travelled_1 %in%
   c('Outside Canada','Outside province/territory of residence but within Canada'))

Regarding your original approach with -c(...), - is a unary operator that "performs arithmetic on numeric or complex vectors (or objects which can be coerced to them)" (from help("-")). Since you are dealing with a character vector that cannot be coerced to numeric or complex, you cannot use -.

Display Parameter(Multi-value) in Report

Hopefully someone else finds this useful:

Using the Join is the best way to use a multi-value parameter. But what if you want to have an efficient 'Select All'? If there are 100s+ then the query will be very inefficient.

To solve this instead of using a SQL Query as is, change it to using an expression (click the Fx button top right) then build your query something like this (speech marks are necessary):

= "Select * from tProducts Where 1 = 1 "
IIF(Parameters!ProductID.Value(0)=-1,Nothing," And ProductID In (" & Join(Parameters!ProductID.Value,"','") & ")")

In your Parameter do the following:

    SELECT -1 As ProductID, 'All' as ProductName Union All
    Select
    tProducts.ProductID,tProducts.ProductName
    FROM
    tProducts

By building the query as an expression means you can make the SQL Statement more efficient but also handle the difficulty SQL Server has with handling values in an 'In' statement.

Where is svcutil.exe in Windows 7?

I don't think it is very important to find the location of Svcutil.exe. You can use Visual Studio Command prompt to execute directly without its absolute path,

Syntax:
svcutil.exe /language:[vb|cs] /out:[YourClassName].[cs|vb] /config:[YourAppConfigFile.config] [YourServiceAddress]

example:
svcutil.exe /language:cs /out:MyClientClass.cs /config:app.config http://localhost:8370/MyService/

SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Symfony2

Ok, so this might not fix your issue but it definitely worked for me.

So you've created your Mysql user I take it? Go to user privileges on PhpMyAdmin and click edit next to the user your using for Symfony. Scroll down to near the bottom and where it says which host you want to use make sure you've selected LocalHost not % Any.

Then in your config file swap 127.0.0.1 for localhost. Hopefully that will work for you. Just worked for me as I was having the same issue.

LISTAGG in Oracle to return distinct values

Further refining @YoYo's correction to @a_horse_with_no_name's row_number() based approach using DECODE vs CASE (i saw here). I see that @Martin Vrbovsky also has this case approach answer.

select
  col1,
  listagg(col2, ',') within group (order by col2) AS col2_list,
  listagg(col3, ',') within group (order by col3) AS col3_list,
  SUM(col4) AS col4
from (
  select
    col1,
    decode(row_number() over (partition by col1, col2 order by null),1,col2) as col2,
    decode(row_number() over (partition by col1, col3 order by null),1,col3) as col3
  from foo
)
group by col1;

Difference between JOIN and INNER JOIN

As the other answers already state there is no difference in your example.

The relevant bit of grammar is documented here

<join_type> ::=
    [ { INNER | { { LEFT | RIGHT | FULL } [ OUTER ] } } [ <join_hint> ] ]
    JOIN

Showing that all are optional. The page further clarifies that

INNER Specifies all matching pairs of rows are returned. Discards unmatched rows from both tables. When no join type is specified, this is the default.

The grammar does also indicate that there is one time where the INNER is required though. When specifying a join hint.

See the example below

CREATE TABLE T1(X INT);
CREATE TABLE T2(Y INT);

SELECT *
FROM   T1
       LOOP JOIN T2
         ON X = Y;

SELECT *
FROM   T1
       INNER LOOP JOIN T2
         ON X = Y;

Why does javascript map function return undefined?

You can implement like a below logic. Suppose you want an array of values.

let test = [ {name:'test',lastname:'kumar',age:30},
             {name:'test',lastname:'kumar',age:30},
             {name:'test3',lastname:'kumar',age:47},
             {name:'test',lastname:'kumar',age:28},
             {name:'test4',lastname:'kumar',age:30},
             {name:'test',lastname:'kumar',age:29}]

let result1 = test.map(element =>
              {
                 if (element.age === 30)
                 {
                    return element.lastname;
                 }
              }).filter(notUndefined => notUndefined !== undefined);

output : ['kumar','kumar','kumar']

How to overwrite the previous print to stdout in python?

The accepted answer is not perfect. The line that was printed first will stay there and if your second print does not cover the entire new line, you will end up with garbage text.

To illustrate the problem save this code as a script and run it (or just take a look):

import time

n = 100
for i in range(100):
    for j in range(100):
        print("Progress {:2.1%}".format(j / 100), end="\r")
        time.sleep(0.01)
    print("Progress {:2.1%}".format(i / 100))

The output will look something like this:

Progress 0.0%%
Progress 1.0%%
Progress 2.0%%
Progress 3.0%%

What works for me is to clear the line before leaving a permanent print. Feel free to adjust to your specific problem:

import time

ERASE_LINE = '\x1b[2K' # erase line command
n = 100
for i in range(100):
    for j in range(100):
        print("Progress {:2.1%}".format(j / 100), end="\r")
        time.sleep(0.01)
    print(ERASE_LINE + "Progress {:2.1%}".format(i / 100)) # clear the line first

And now it prints as expected:

Progress 0.0%
Progress 1.0%
Progress 2.0%
Progress 3.0%

moment.js - UTC gives wrong date

By default, MomentJS parses in local time. If only a date string (with no time) is provided, the time defaults to midnight.

In your code, you create a local date and then convert it to the UTC timezone (in fact, it makes the moment instance switch to UTC mode), so when it is formatted, it is shifted (depending on your local time) forward or backwards.

If the local timezone is UTC+N (N being a positive number), and you parse a date-only string, you will get the previous date.

Here are some examples to illustrate it (my local time offset is UTC+3 during DST):

>>> moment('07-18-2013', 'MM-DD-YYYY').utc().format("YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm")
"2013-07-17 21:00"
>>> moment('07-18-2013 12:00', 'MM-DD-YYYY HH:mm').utc().format("YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm")
"2013-07-18 09:00"
>>> Date()
"Thu Jul 25 2013 14:28:45 GMT+0300 (Jerusalem Daylight Time)"

If you want the date-time string interpreted as UTC, you should be explicit about it:

>>> moment(new Date('07-18-2013 UTC')).utc().format("YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm")
"2013-07-18 00:00"

or, as Matt Johnson mentions in his answer, you can (and probably should) parse it as a UTC date in the first place using moment.utc() and include the format string as a second argument to prevent ambiguity.

>>> moment.utc('07-18-2013', 'MM-DD-YYYY').format("YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm")
"2013-07-18 00:00"

To go the other way around and convert a UTC date to a local date, you can use the local() method, as follows:

>>> moment.utc('07-18-2013', 'MM-DD-YYYY').local().format("YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm")
"2013-07-18 03:00"

How to use EOF to run through a text file in C?

One possible C loop would be:

#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
    int c;
    while ((c = getchar()) != EOF)
    {
        /*
        ** Do something with c, such as check against '\n'
        ** and increment a line counter.
        */
    }
}

For now, I would ignore feof and similar functions. Exprience shows that it is far too easy to call it at the wrong time and process something twice in the belief that eof hasn't yet been reached.

Pitfall to avoid: using char for the type of c. getchar returns the next character cast to an unsigned char and then to an int. This means that on most [sane] platforms the value of EOF and valid "char" values in c don't overlap so you won't ever accidentally detect EOF for a 'normal' char.

How do I add items to an array in jQuery?

You are making an ajax request which is asynchronous therefore your console log of the list length occurs before the ajax request has completed.

The only way of achieving what you want is changing the ajax call to be synchronous. You can do this by using the .ajax and passing in asynch : false however this is not recommended as it locks the UI up until the call has returned, if it fails to return the user has to crash out of the browser.

Which Android IDE is better - Android Studio or Eclipse?

Working with Eclipse can be difficult at times, probably when debugging and designing layouts Eclipse sometimes get stuck and we have to restart Eclipse from time to time. Also you get problems with emulators.

Android studio was released very recently and this IDE is not yet heavily used by developers. Therefore, it may contain certain bugs.

This describes the difference between android android studio and eclipse project structure: Android Studio Project Structure (v.s. Eclipse Project Structure)

This teaches you how to use the android studio: http://www.infinum.co/the-capsized-eight/articles/android-studio-vs-eclipse-1-0

This would be useful at least to get the ID easily and to get the timestamps when relevant. This is actually the default behavior got when scaffolding with Rails.

I really do not see any advantage to returning only the ID and doing a GET request after, to get the data you could have got with your initial POST.

Anyway as long as your API is consistent I think that you should choose the pattern that fits your needs the best. There is not any correct way of how to build a REST API, imo.

How do I get the n-th level parent of an element in jQuery?

You could use something like this:

(function($) {
    $.fn.parentNth = function(n) {
        var el = $(this);
        for(var i = 0; i < n; i++)
            el = el.parent();

        return el;
    };
})(jQuery);

alert($("#foo").parentNth(2).attr("id"));

Select 2 columns in one and combine them

Yes,

SELECT CONCAT(field1, field2) AS WHOLENAME FROM TABLE
WHERE ...

will result in data set like:

WHOLENAME
field1field2

pandas dataframe groupby datetime month

Managed to do it:

b = pd.read_csv('b.dat')
b.index = pd.to_datetime(b['date'],format='%m/%d/%y %I:%M%p')
b.groupby(by=[b.index.month, b.index.year])

Or

b.groupby(pd.Grouper(freq='M'))  # update for v0.21+

How do I put a clear button inside my HTML text input box like the iPhone does?

Of course the best approach is to use the ever-more-supported <input type="search" />.

Anyway for a bit of coding fun I thought that it could be achieved also using the form's reset button, and this is the working result (it is worth noting that you cannot have other inputs in the form but the search field with this approach, or the reset button will erase them too), no javascript needed:

form input {
    width: 100%;

    box-sizing: border-box;
}

form input:placeholder-shown + button{
  opacity: 0;
  pointer-events: none;

Delete commits from a branch in Git

For me rebase did the trick

$ git rebase -i HEAD~98

# Delete everything except for the most recent commit on the shown editor caused by "rebase"

$ git push origin -f production-static

NOTE: After forcing the push to reduce my comments. I then pushed another set of files and then I tried pulled with the same "repository & branch" on another computer. Surprisingly there is no conflict. This became my way to reduce repository size while avoiding pull conflicts on my other locals that uses the same git

How to change color in markdown cells ipython/jupyter notebook?

You can simply use raw html tags like

foo <font color='red'>bar</font> foo

Be aware that this will not survive a conversion of the notebook to latex.

As there are some complaints about the deprecation of the proposed solution. They are totally valid and Scott has already answered the question with a more recent, i.e. CSS based approach. Nevertheless, this answer shows some general approach to use html tags within IPython to style markdown cell content beyond the available pure markdown capabilities.

Convert a byte array to integer in Java and vice versa

i think this is a best mode to cast to int

   public int ByteToint(Byte B){
        String comb;
        int out=0;
        comb=B+"";
        salida= Integer.parseInt(comb);
        out=out+128;
        return out;
    }

first comvert byte to String

comb=B+"";

next step is comvert to a int

out= Integer.parseInt(comb);

but byte is in rage of -128 to 127 for this reasone, i think is better use rage 0 to 255 and you only need to do this:

out=out+256;

Values of disabled inputs will not be submitted

Yes, all browsers should not submit the disabled inputs, as they are read-only.

More information (section 17.12.1)

Attribute definitions

disabled [CI] When set for a form control, this Boolean attribute disables the control for user input. When set, the disabled attribute has the following effects on an element:

  • Disabled controls do not receive focus.
  • Disabled controls are skipped in tabbing navigation.
  • Disabled controls cannot be successful.

The following elements support the disabled attribute: BUTTON, INPUT, OPTGROUP, OPTION, SELECT, and TEXTAREA.

This attribute is inherited but local declarations override the inherited value.

How disabled elements are rendered depends on the user agent. For example, some user agents "gray out" disabled menu items, button labels, etc.

In this example, the INPUT element is disabled. Therefore, it cannot receive user input nor will its value be submitted with the form.

<INPUT disabled name="fred" value="stone">

Note. The only way to modify dynamically the value of the disabled attribute is through a script.

Check if boolean is true?

Almost everyone I've seen expressing an opinion prefers

if (foo)
{
}

Indeed, I've seen many people criticize the explicit comparison, and I may even have done so myself before now. I'd say the "short" style is idiomatic.

EDIT:

Note that this doesn't mean that line of code is always incorrect. Consider:

bool? maybeFoo = GetSomeNullableBooleanValue();
if (maybeFoo == true)
{
    ...
}

That will compile, but without the "== true" it won't, as there's no implicit conversion from bool? to bool.
