This is a method that I use to update AppSettings, works for both web and desktop applications. If you need to edit connectionStrings you can get that value from System.Configuration.ConnectionStringSettings config = configFile.ConnectionStrings.ConnectionStrings["YourConnectionStringName"]; and then set a new value with config.ConnectionString = "your connection string";. 3. Overwrite your existing tags

When you want to increment or decrement, you typically want to do that on an integer. Like so:

Beware of the restrictions. You have to respond quickly to this notification, you've got 5 seconds to complete the task. Take longer and Windows will kill your code unceremoniously. Ans: I found this piece of lines in application. This lines made my app not recieving any ViewWillAppear notification's. When I commented these lines it's working fine.

These questions come up all the time due to JavaScript's typing system. People think they are getting a number when they're getting the string of a number.

Here are some things you might see that take advantage of the way JavaScript deals with strings and numbers. Personally, I wish JavaScript had used some symbol other than + for string concatenation.

Step (1) Concatenate "1", "2", "3" into "123"

result = "1" + "2" + "3";

Step (2) Convert "123" into 123

result = +"123";

Step (3) Add 123 + 100 = 223

If you know WHY these work, you're less likely to get into trouble with JavaScript expressions.

This happened to me. A policy on the domain was taking away the SQL Server user account's "Log on as a service" rights. You can work around this using JLo's solution, but does not address the group policy problem specifically and it will return next time the group policies are refreshed on the machine.

Your data is problematic in that you have inner wrapper objects in your array. Presumably your Vendor object is designed to handle id, name, company_id, but each of those multiple objects are also wrapped in an object with a single property vendor.

I'm assuming that you're using the Jackson Data Binding model.

If so then there are two things to consider:

The first is using a special Jackson config property. Jackson - since 1.9 I believe, this may not be available if you're using an old version of Jackson - provides UNWRAP_ROOT_VALUE. It's designed for cases where your results are wrapped in a top-level single-property object that you want to discard.

So, play around with:

The second is using wrapper objects. Even after discarding the outer wrapper object you still have the problem of your Vendor objects being wrapped in a single-property object. Use a wrapper to get around this:

There's an easier way, by extending an empty LatLngBounds rather than creating one explicitly from two points. (See this question for more details)

I think you should count the results with FOUND_ROWS() and SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS. You'll need two queries: select, group_by, etc. You'll add a plus select: SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS user_id. After this query run a query: SELECT FOUND_ROWS(). This will return the desired number.

The -Xlinker option of gcc above just passes -v to ld. However:

I ran task manager and looked for httpd.exe in process. Their were two of them running. I stopped one of them gone back to xampp control pannel and started apache. It worked.

IIF is a non-standard T-SQL function. It was added to SQL SERVER 2012, so that Access could migrate to SQL Server without refactoring the IIF's to CASE before hand. Once the Access db is fully migrated into SQL Server, you can refactor.

There is an appropriate index on column_having_index, and its use actually increase performance, but Oracle didn't use it...
You should gather statistics on your table to let optimizer see that index access can help. Using direct hint is not a good practice.

Q: Why do we need to return or exit?

A: To indicate execution status.

In your example even if you didnt have return or exit statements the code would run fine (Assuming everything else is syntactically,etc-ally correct. Also, if (and it should be) main returns int you need that return 0 at the end).

But, after execution you don't have a way to find out if your code worked as expected. You can use the return code of the program (In *nix environments , using $?) which gives you the code (as set by exit or return) . Since you set these codes yourself you understand at which point the code reached before terminating.

You can write return 123 where 123 indicates success in the post execution checks.

Usually, in *nix environments 0 is taken as success and non-zero codes as failures.

Mockito matchers are static methods and calls to those methods, which stand in for arguments during calls to when and verify.

Hamcrest matchers (archived version) (or Hamcrest-style matchers) are stateless, general-purpose object instances that implement Matcher<T> and expose a method matches(T) that returns true if the object matches the Matcher's criteria. They are intended to be free of side effects, and are generally used in assertions such as the one below.

Mockito matchers are invoked through static methods such as eq, any, gt, and startsWith on org.mockito.Matchers and org.mockito.AdditionalMatchers. There are also adapters, which have changed across Mockito versions:

• For Mockito 1.x, Matchers featured some calls (such as intThat or argThat) are Mockito matchers that directly accept Hamcrest matchers as parameters. ArgumentMatcher<T> extended org.hamcrest.Matcher<T>, which was used in the internal Hamcrest representation and was a Hamcrest matcher base class instead of any sort of Mockito matcher.
• For Mockito 2.0+, Mockito no longer has a direct dependency on Hamcrest. Matchers calls phrased as intThat or argThat wrap ArgumentMatcher<T> objects that no longer implement org.hamcrest.Matcher<T> but are used in similar ways. Hamcrest adapters such as argThat and intThat are still available, but have moved to MockitoHamcrest instead.

Regardless of whether the matchers are Hamcrest or simply Hamcrest-style, they can be adapted like so:

In the above statement: foo.setPowerLevel is a method that accepts an int. is(greaterThan(9000)) returns a Matcher<Integer>, which wouldn't work as a setPowerLevel argument. The Mockito matcher intThat wraps that Hamcrest-style Matcher and returns an int so it can appear as an argument; Mockito matchers like gt(9000) would wrap that entire expression into a single call, as in the first line of example code.

What matchers do/return

When not using argument matchers, Mockito records your argument values and compares them with their equals methods.

When you call a matcher like any or gt (greater than), Mockito stores a matcher object that causes Mockito to skip that equality check and apply your match of choice. In the case of argumentCaptor.capture() it stores a matcher that saves its argument instead for later inspection.

Matchers return dummy values such as zero, empty collections, or null. Mockito tries to return a safe, appropriate dummy value, like 0 for anyInt() or any(Integer.class) or an empty List<String> for anyListOf(String.class). Because of type erasure, though, Mockito lacks type information to return any value but null for any() or argThat(...), which can cause a NullPointerException if trying to "auto-unbox" a null primitive value.

Matchers like eq and gt take parameter values; ideally, these values should be computed before the stubbing/verification starts. Calling a mock in the middle of mocking another call can interfere with stubbing.

Matcher methods can't be used as return values; there is no way to phrase thenReturn(anyInt()) or thenReturn(any(Foo.class)) in Mockito, for instance. Mockito needs to know exactly which instance to return in stubbing calls, and will not choose an arbitrary return value for you.

Implementation details

Matchers are stored (as Hamcrest-style object matchers) in a stack contained in a class called ArgumentMatcherStorage. MockitoCore and Matchers each own a ThreadSafeMockingProgress instance, which statically contains a ThreadLocal holding MockingProgress instances. It's this MockingProgressImpl that holds a concrete ArgumentMatcherStorageImpl. Consequently, mock and matcher state is static but thread-scoped consistently between the Mockito and Matchers classes.

Most matcher calls only add to this stack, with an exception for matchers like and, or, and not. This perfectly corresponds to (and relies on) the evaluation order of Java, which evaluates arguments left-to-right before invoking a method:

1. Add anyInt() to the stack.

5. Call foo.quux(0, 0), which (unless otherwise stubbed) returns the default value false. Internally Mockito marks quux(int, int) as the most recent call.
6. Call when(false), which discards its argument and prepares to stub method quux(int, int) identified in 5. The only two valid states are with stack length 0 (equality) or 2 (matchers), and there are two matchers on the stack (steps 1 and 4), so Mockito stubs the method with an any() matcher for its first argument and and(gt(10), lt(20)) for its second argument and clears the stack.

This demonstrates a few rules:

• Mockito can't tell the difference between quux(anyInt(), 0) and quux(0, anyInt()). They both look like a call to quux(0, 0) with one int matcher on the stack. Consequently, if you use one matcher, you have to match all arguments.

• Call order isn't just important, it's what makes this all work. Extracting matchers to variables generally doesn't work, because it usually changes the call order. Extracting matchers to methods, however, works great.

• The stack changes often enough that Mockito can't police it very carefully. It can only check the stack when you interact with Mockito or a mock, and has to accept matchers without knowing whether they're used immediately or abandoned accidentally. In theory, the stack should always be empty outside of a call to when or verify, but Mockito can't check that automatically. You can check manually with Mockito.validateMockitoUsage().

• In a call to when, Mockito actually calls the method in question, which will throw an exception if you've stubbed the method to throw an exception (or require non-zero or non-null values). doReturn and doAnswer (etc) do not invoke the actual method and are often a useful alternative.

• If you had called a mock method in the middle of stubbing (e.g. to calculate an answer for an eq matcher), Mockito would check the stack length against that call instead, and likely fail.

• If you try to do something bad, like stubbing/verifying a final method, Mockito will call the real method and also leave extra matchers on the stack. The final method call may not throw an exception, but you may get an InvalidUseOfMatchersException from the stray matchers when you next interact with a mock.

Common problems

• InvalidUseOfMatchersException:

  • Check that every single argument has exactly one matcher call, if you use matchers at all, and that you haven't used a matcher outside of a when or verify call. Matchers should never be used as stubbed return values or fields/variables.

  • Check that you're not calling a mock as a part of providing a matcher argument.

  • Check that you're not trying to stub/verify a final method with a matcher. It's a great way to leave a matcher on the stack, and unless your final method throws an exception, this might be the only time you realize the method you're mocking is final.

• NullPointerException with primitive arguments: (Integer) any() returns null while any(Integer.class) returns 0; this can cause a NullPointerException if you're expecting an int instead of an Integer. In any case, prefer anyInt(), which will return zero and also skip the auto-boxing step.

• NullPointerException or other exceptions: Calls to when(foo.bar(any())).thenReturn(baz) will actually call foo.bar(null), which you might have stubbed to throw an exception when receiving a null argument. Switching to doReturn(baz).when(foo).bar(any()) skips the stubbed behavior.

General troubleshooting

• Use MockitoJUnitRunner, or explicitly call validateMockitoUsage in your tearDown or @After method (which the runner would do for you automatically). This will help determine whether you've misused matchers.

• For debugging purposes, add calls to validateMockitoUsage in your code directly. This will throw if you have anything on the stack, which is a good warning of a bad symptom.

Given that the "why int by default" question hasn't been answered ...

First, "default" is not really the right term (although close enough). As noted by VonC, an expression composed of ints and longs will have a long result. And an operation consisting of ints/logs and doubles will have a double result. The compiler promotes the terms of an expression to whatever type provides a greater range and/or precision in the result (floating point types are presumed to have greater range and precision than integral, although you do lose precision converting large longs to double).

One caveat is that this promotion happens only for the terms that need it. So in the following example, the subexpression 5/4 uses only integral values and is performed using integer math, even though the overall expression involves a double. The result isn't what you might expect...

OK, so why are byte and short promoted to int? Without any references to back me up, it's due to practicality: there are a limited number of bytecodes.

"Bytecode," as its name implies, uses a single byte to specify an operation. For example iadd, which adds two ints. Currently, 205 opcodes are defined, and integer math takes 18 for each type (ie, 36 total between integer and long), not counting conversion operators.

If short, and byte each got their own set of opcodes, you'd be at 241, limiting the ability of the JVM to expand. As I said, no references to back me up on this, but I suspect that Gosling et al said "how often do people actually use shorts?" On the other hand, promoting byte to int leads to this not-so-wonderful effect (the expected answer is 96, the actual is -16):

Since this is the most active message for this type of error, I wanted to mention my solution (after spending hours to fix this).

On Ubuntu 18.04, using Chrome 70 and Chromedriver 2.44, and Python3 I kept getting the same DevToolsActivePort error, even when I disabled all options listed above. The chromedriver log file as well as ps showed that the chromedriver I set in chrome_options.binary_location was running, but it always gave DevToolsActivePort error. When I removed chrome_options.binary_location='....' and add it to webdriver creation, I get it working fine. webdriver.Chrome('/path to ... /chromedriver',chrome_options=chrome_options)

I've found this issue to be prevalent in Entity Framework when we instantiate an Entity manually rather than through DBContext which will resolve all the Navigation Properties. If there are Foreign Key references (Navigation Properties) between tables and you use those references in your lambda (e.g. ProductDetail.Products.ID) then that "Products" context remains null if you manually created the Entity.

If you want the conversion to always succeed, probably the best way to convert the string would be to consider "1" as true and anything else as false (as Kevin does). If you wanted the conversion to fail if anything other than "1" or "0" is returned, then the following would suffice (you could put it in a helper method):

I tried all of the listed answers and none of them was useful. The problem was due to existence of an another plist file linked from a submodule via cocoapods. Luckily this was my own module, so I just deleted this plist from the submodule project and reinstalled pods.

Later on I understood that the key of the problem was in the name of that second plist: simply info.plist. You may rename the file and relink it via a sources section of a submodule

That second plist file had a unique name, so Xcode was not supposed to become frustrated. Even my target settings pointed on a main plist, not on a info.plist. Looks like Xcode takes special consideraions about that name

My issue was that there was no __init__.py file in the same folder as the migrations. On adding the __init__.py to the folder which contained them, manage.py migrate found and ran them.

I would just create a separate CSS class:

persist() is well defined. It makes a transient instance persistent. However, it doesn't guarantee that the identifier value will be assigned to the persistent instance immediately, the assignment might happen at flush time. The spec doesn't say that, which is the problem I have with persist().

After becoming frustrated with the too many limitations of cut, I wrote my own replacement, which I called cuts for "cut on steroids".

cuts provides what is likely the most minimalist solution to this and many other related cut/paste problems.

Important: Unless you have a very particular use-case, do not encrypt passwords, use a password hashing algorithm instead. When someone says they encrypt their passwords in a server-side application, they're either uninformed or they're describing a dangerous system design. Safely storing passwords is a totally separate problem from encryption.

Be informed. Design safe systems.

Portable Data Encryption in PHP

If you're using PHP 5.4 or newer and don't want to write a cryptography module yourself, I recommend using an existing library that provides authenticated encryption. The library I linked relies only on what PHP provides and is under periodic review by a handful of security researchers. (Myself included.)

If your portability goals do not prevent requiring PECL extensions, libsodium is highly recommended over anything you or I can write in PHP.

Update (2016-06-12): You can now use sodium_compat and use the same crypto libsodium offers without installing PECL extensions.

If you want to try your hand at cryptography engineering, read on.

First, you should take the time to learn the dangers of unauthenticated encryption and the Cryptographic Doom Principle.

• Encrypted data can still be tampered with by a malicious user.
• Authenticating the encrypted data prevents tampering.
• Authenticating the unencrypted data does not prevent tampering.

Encryption and Decryption

Encryption in PHP is actually simple (we're going to use openssl_encrypt() and openssl_decrypt() once you have made some decisions about how to encrypt your information. Consult openssl_get_cipher_methods() for a list of the methods supported on your system. The best choice is AES in CTR mode:

• aes-128-ctr
• aes-192-ctr
• aes-256-ctr

There is currently no reason to believe that the AES key size is a significant issue to worry about (bigger is probably not better, due to bad key-scheduling in the 256-bit mode).

Note: We are not using mcrypt because it is abandonware and has unpatched bugs that might be security-affecting. Because of these reasons, I encourage other PHP developers to avoid it as well.

One slow, dependable, old-school method that always works in every operating system with every language (and even between languages) is to write the "system/environment" data you need to a temporary text file, read it when you need it, and then erase it. Of course, if you're running in parallel, then you need unique names for the file, and if you're putting sensitive information in it, then you need to encrypt it.

dex file is a file that is executed on the Dalvik VM.

Dalvik VM includes several features for performance optimization, verification, and monitoring, one of which is Dalvik Executable (DEX).

Java source code is compiled by the Java compiler into .class files. Then the dx (dexer) tool, part of the Android SDK processes the .class files into a file format called DEX that contains Dalvik byte code. The dx tool eliminates all the redundant information that is present in the classes. In DEX all the classes of the application are packed into one file. The following table provides comparison between code sizes for JVM jar files and the files processed by the dex tool.

The table compares code sizes for system libraries, web browser applications, and a general purpose application (alarm clock app). In all cases dex tool reduced size of the code by more than 50%.

In standard Java environments each class in Java code results in one .class file. That means, if the Java source code file has one public class and two anonymous classes, let’s say for event handling, then the java compiler will create total three .class files.

The compilation step is same on the Android platform, thus resulting in multiple .class files. But after .class files are generated, the “dx” tool is used to convert all .class files into a single .dex, or Dalvik Executable, file. It is the .dex file that is executed on the Dalvik VM. The .dex file has been optimized for memory usage and the design is primarily driven by sharing of data.

After reading all this good answers for different versions and having solved the problem for myself, I think there are very small details that are very important, and rare to GNU/Linux general use, that aren't stressed enough and deserves more than comments.

So I'm not going to try to answer the question for every case, but instead, try to register where to look when things doesn't work.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTICE:

1. THE ORDER OF THE OPTIONS MATTER: it is not the same put the --exclude before than after the file option and directories to backup. This is unexpected at least to me, because in my experience, in GNU/Linux commands, usually the order of the options doesn't matter.
2. Different tar versions expects this options in different order: for instance, @Andrew's answer indicates that in GNU tar v 1.26 and 1.28 the excludes comes last, whereas in my case, with GNU tar 1.29, it's the other way.
3. THE TRAILING SLASHES MATTER: at least in GNU tar 1.29, it shouldn't be any.

In my case, for GNU tar 1.29 on Debian stretch, the command that worked was

tar --exclude="/home/user/.config/chromium" --exclude="/home/user/.cache" -cf file.tar  /dir1/ /home/ /dir3/

The quotes didn't matter, it worked with or without them.

This is a re-implementation of the FullOuterJoin method using essentially a simplified, customized version of LINQKit Invoke/Expand for Expression so that it should work the Entity Framework. Using an ORM or plain SQL?

Take a look at some of the other O/RM solutions out there, L2S isn't the only one (NHibernate, ActiveRecord)

to address the specific questions:

1. Depends on the quality of the O/RM solution, L2S is pretty good at generating SQL
2. This is normally much faster using an O/RM once you grok the process
3. Code is also usually much neater and more maintainable
4. Straight SQL will of course get you more flexibility, but most O/RM's can do all but the most complicated queries
5. Overall I would suggest going with an O/RM, the flexibility loss is negligable

You can run the SQL Profiler, and filter by CPU or Duration so that you're excluding all the "small stuff". Then it should be a lot easier to determine if you have a problem like a specific stored proc that is running much longer than it should (could be a missing index or something).

Two caveats:

• If the problem is massive amounts of tiny transactions, then the filter I describe above would exclude them, and you'd miss this.
• Also, if the problem is a single, massive job (like an 8-hour analysis job or a poorly designed select that has to cross-join a billion rows) then you might not see this in the profiler until it is completely done, depending on what events you're profiling (sp:completed vs sp:statementcompleted).

But normally I start with the Activity Monitor or sp_who2.

key is simply a string which you are establishing to identify that particular measurement of time. You can have multiple measures which you can go back and reference your timer stats using the keys you create.

I was facing the same problem and the second method proposed in the accepted answer, as noted in the comments, can be problematic when dealing with foreign keys.

My workaround is to export the database to a sql file making sure that the INSERT statements include column names. I do it using DB Browser for SQLite which has an handy feature for that. After that you just have to edit the create table statement and insert the new column where you want it and recreate the db.

In *nix like systems is just something along the lines of

cat db.sql | sqlite3 database.db

I don't know how feasible this is with very big databases, but it worked in my case.

In SQL Server you would generally use. I don't know about other database engines.

My suggestion is: do not use activities at all, instead use fragments, and replace them in the container (Linear Layout for example) where you show your first fragment.

It is advisable that you should use more and more fragments in your application, and there should be only four basic activities local to your application, that you mention in your AndroidManifest.xml apart from the external ones (FacebookActivity for example):

1. SplashActivity: uses no fragment, and uses FullScreen theme.

2. LoginSignUpActivity: Do not require NavigationDrawer at all, and no back button as well, so simply use the normal toolbar, but at the least, 3 or 4 fragments will be required. Uses no-action-bar theme

3. HomeActivity or DashBoard Activity: Uses no-action-bar theme. Here you require Navigation drawer, also all the screens that follow will be fragments or nested fragments, till the leaf view, with the shared drawer. All the settings, user profile and etc. will be here as fragments, in this activity. The fragments here will not be added to the back stack and will be opened from the drawer menu items. In the case of fragments that require back button instead of the drawer, there is a fourth kind of activity below.

4. Activity without drawer. This activity has a back button on top and the fragments inside will be sharing the same action-bar. These fragments will be added to the back-stack, as there will be a navigation history.

All variables in querystrings need to be urlencoded to ensure proper transmission. You should never pass a user's personal information in a url because urls are very leaky. Urls end up in log files, browsing histories, referal headers, etc. The list goes on and on.

As for proper url encoding, it can be achieved using either urlencode() or http_build_query(). Either one of these should work:

SQL Server has its own built in system for security that covers logins and roles. This is separate and parallel to Windows users and groups. You can use just SQL security and then all administration will occur within SQL server and there's no connection between those logins and the Windows users. If you use mixed mode then Windows users are treated just like SQL logins.

There are a number of features of each approach -

1) If you want to use connection pooling you have to use SQL logins, or all share the same windows user - not a good idea.

2) If you want to track what a particular user is doing, then using the windows authentication makes sense.

3) Using the windows tools to administer users is much more powerful than SQL, but the link between the two is tenuous, for instance if you remove a windows user then the related data within SQL isn't updated.

A) The main GUI thread will run endlessly on the call to Application.Run, so your while loop will never be reached

Yes a correct sign() function should be at least in the math module - as it is in numpy. Because one frequently needs it for math oriented code.

But math.copysign() is also useful independently.

cmp() and obj.__cmp__() ... have generally high importance independently. Not just for math oriented code. Consider comparing/sorting tuples, date objects, ...

The dev arguments at http://bugs.python.org/issue1640 regarding the omission of math.sign() are odd, because:

No, there are no dictionaries in php. The closest thing you have is an array. However, an array is different than a dictionary in that arrays have both an index and a key. Dictionaries only have keys and no index. What do I mean by that?

I had the same problem with MyEclipse and Eclipse 6.6.0. It red lined the uri value in every

If you are using JavaScript/CSS, you must use 'id' of control to apply any CSS/JavaScript stuff on it.

new Date(timestamp.getTime()) should work, but the new fancy Java 8 way (which may be more elegant and more type safe, as well as help lead you to use the new time classes) is to call Date.from(timestamp.toInstant()).

Since it's a long time and people keep suggesting to use Scanner#nextLine(), there's another chance that Scanner can take spaces included in input.

Class Scanner

A Scanner breaks its input into tokens using a delimiter pattern, which by default matches whitespace.

You can use Scanner#useDelimiter() to change the delimiter of Scanner to another pattern such as a line feed or something else.

I don't see php file, but that could be that -
replace in your php file:

with:

Most probably, at first time you running your script without ?query_age=[something] and $_GET has no key like query_age.
