Now I need to connect that application from my local computer, but I don't know the JMX port number of the remote computer. Where can I find it? Or, must I restart that application with some VM parameters to specify the port number?

By default JMX does not publish on a port unless you specify the arguments from this page: How to activate JMX...

If you are running you should be able to access any of those system properties to see if they have been set:

Depending on how the server is connected, you might also have to specify the following parameter. As part of the initial JMX connection, jconsole connects up to the RMI port to determine which port the JMX server is running on. When you initially start up a JMX enabled application, it looks its own hostname to determine what address to return in that initial RMI transaction. If your hostname is not in /etc/hosts or if it is set to an incorrect interface address then you can override it with the following:

-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=<IP address>

As an aside, my SimpleJMX package allows you to define both the JMX server and the RMI port or set them both to the same port. The above port defined with com.sun.management.jmxremote.port is actually the RMI port. This tells the client what port the JMX server is running on.

jminix is an embedded web based JMX console. Not sure if it's maintained any longer, but still.

Getting JMX through the firewall isn't that hard at all. There is one small catch. You have to forward both your JMX configured port ie. 9010 and one of dynamic ports its listens to on my machine it was > 30000

To enable JMX remote, pass below VM parameters along with JAVA Command.

I had this exact issue, and created a GitHub project for testing and figuring out the correct settings.

It contains a working Dockerfile with supporting scripts, and a simple docker-compose.yml for quick testing.

I've developed jmxfuse which exposes JMX Mbeans as a Linux FUSE filesystem with similar functionality as the /proc fs. It relies on Jolokia as the bridge to JMX. Attributes and operations are exposed for reading and writing.

I found it hard to decipher what is meant by "working directory of the VM". In my example, I was using the Java Service Wrapper program to execute a jar - the dump files were created in the directory where I had placed the wrapper program, e.g. c:\myapp\bin. The reason I discovered this is because the files can be quite large and they filled up the hard drive before I discovered their location.

The smarter_csv gem was specifically created for this use-case: to read data from CSV file and quickly create database entries.

Running just "npm install" will look for dependencies listed in your package.json. The error you're getting says that you don't have a package.json file set up (or you're in the wrong directory).

If you're trying to install a specific package, you should use 'npm install {package name}'. See here for more info about the command.

Otherwise, you'll need to create a package.json file for your dependencies or go to the right directory and then run 'npm install'.

I would also recommend to take a look at HtmlUnit. HtmlUnit is a "GUI-Less browser for Java programs". http://htmlunit.sourceforge.net/

You can think of an iframe as an embedded browser window that you can put on an HTML page to show another URL inside it. This URL can be totally distinct from your web site/app.

You can put an iframe in any HTML page, so you could put one inside a contentplaceholder in a webform that has a Masterpage and it will appear with whatever URL you load into it (via Javascript, or C# if you turn your iframe into a server-side control (runat='server') on the final HTML page that your webform produces when requested.

And you can load a URL into your iframe that is a .aspx page.

But - iframes have nothing to do with the ASP.net mechanism. They are HTML elements that can be made to run server-side, but they are essentially 'dumb' and unmanaged/unconnected to the ASP.Net mechanisms - don't confuse a Contentplaceholder with an iframe.

Incidentally, the use of iframes is still contentious - do you really need to use one? Can you afford the negative trade-offs associated with them e.g. lack of navigation history ...?

It depends on the coding standard I'm working under. If we are using _ to denote an instance variable then "this" becomes redundant. If we are not using _ then I tend to use this to denote instance variable.

Annotations may be used as an alternative to external configuration files, but cannot be considered a complete replacement. You can find many examples where annotationi have been used to replace configuration files, like Hibernate, JPA, EJB 3 and almost all the technologies included in Java EE.

Anyway this is not always good choice. The purpose of using configuration files is usually to separate the code from the details of the environment where the application is running. In such situations, and mostly when the configuration is used to map the application to the structure of an external system, annotation are not a good replacement for configuration file, as they bring you to include the details of the external system inside the source code of your application. Here external files are to be considered the best choice, otherwise you'll need to modify the source code and to recompile every time you change a relevant detail in the execution environment.

Annotations are much more suited to decorate the source code with extra information that instruct processing tools, both at compile time and at runtime, to handle classes and class structures in special way. @Override and JUnit's @Test are good examples of such a usage, already explained in detail in other answers.

In the end the rule is always the same: keep inside the source the things that change with the source, and keep outside the source the things that change independently from the source.

I've found the python inspect module to be very useful

It's impossible to say without seeing your actual code. Likely the reason is a code path through your function that doesn't execute a return statement. When the code goes down that path, the function ends with no value returned, and so returns None.

Updated: It sounds like your code looks like this:

That else clause is your None path. You need to return the value that the recursive call returns:

At least Chrome still has a string that contains "Chrome" with the exact version number. But, for IE you must extrapolate from the things it supports to actually figure it out (who else would boast that they support .NET or Media Center :P), and then match it against the rv: at the very end to get the version number. Of course, even such sophisticated heuristics might very likely fail as soon as IE 12 (or whatever they want to call it) comes out.

In case you do not want to use Asset Catalog, you can add an iOS 7 icon for an old app by creating a 120x120 .png image. Name it Icon-120.png and drag in to the project.

Under TARGET > Your App > Info > Icon files, add one more entry in the Target Properties:

I tested on Xcode 5 and an app was submitted without the missing retina icon warning.

You can stop the running tomcat server by doing the following steps:

Step 1: go to your tomcat installation path (/bin) in your Windows system

Step 2: open cmd for that bin directory (you can easily do this by typing "cmd" at that directory )

You can provide a custom Comparator object that ranks elements in the reverse order:

A DataTable object represents tabular data as an in-memory, tabular cache of rows, columns, and constraints. The DataSet consists of a collection of DataTable objects that you can relate to each other with DataRelation objects.

• As of Apr 2013, it is possible to delete App IDs.

will not work, as it will compute integer division of x and y first, then construct a float from it.

Is semantically the best candidate.

gcc can actually compile c++ code just fine. The errors you received are linker errors, not compiler errors.

Odds are that if you change the compilation line to be this:

gcc info.C -lstdc++

which makes it link to the standard c++ library, then it will work just fine.

However, you should just make your life easier and use g++.

Rup says it best in his comment to another answer:

[...] gcc will select the correct back-end compiler based on file extension (i.e. will compile a .c as C and a .cc as C++) and links binaries against just the standard C and GCC helper libraries by default regardless of input languages; g++ will also select the correct back-end based on extension except that I think it compiles all C source as C++ instead (i.e. it compiles both .c and .cc as C++) and it includes libstdc++ in its link step regardless of input languages.

With the code in the question, you're only dealing interacting with the first of the four entries returned by that selector.

create a package protected (assumes test class in same package) method in the sub class that calls the super class method and then call that method in your overridden sub class method. you can then set expectations on this method in your test through the use of the spy pattern. not pretty but certainly better than having to deal with all the expectation setting for the super method in your test

git rm will remove the file from the index and working directory ( only index if you used --cached ) so that the deletion is staged for next commit.

Lodash has got _.mapValues() which is identical to Underscore.js's _.mapObject().

There are fancy solutions involving utilizing the browser itself to attempt to parse the text, identifying if any DOM nodes were constructed, which will be… slow. Or regular expressions which will be faster, but… potentially inaccurate. There are also two very distinct questions arising from this problem:

Q1: Does a string contain HTML fragments?

Is the string part of an HTML document, containing HTML element markup or encoded entities? This can be used as an indicator that the string may require bleaching / sanitization or entity decoding:

Consider this snippet in a concurrent environment:

The idea here is that some thread could change the value of isStopped from false to true in order to indicate to the subsequent loop that it is time to stop looping.

Intuitively, there is no problem. Logically if another thread makes isStopped equal to true, then the loop must terminate. The reality is that the loop will likely never terminate even if another thread makes isStopped equal to true.

The reason for this is not intuitive, but consider that modern processors have multiple cores and that each core has multiple registers and multiple levels of cache memory that are not accessible to other processors. In other words, values that are cached in one processor's local memory are not visisble to threads executing on a different processor. Herein lies one of the central problems with concurrency: visibility.

The Java Memory Model makes no guarantees whatsoever about when changes that are made to a variable in one thread may become visible to other threads. In order to guarantee that updates are visisble as soon as they are made, you must synchronize.

The volatile keyword is a weak form of synchronization. While it does nothing for mutual exclusion or atomicity, it does provide a guarantee that changes made to a variable in one thread will become visible to other threads as soon as it is made. Because individual reads and writes to variables that are not 8-bytes are atomic in Java, declaring variables volatile provides an easy mechanism for providing visibility in situations where there are no other atomicity or mutual exclusion requirements.

That will be possible only if the HTML file is also loaded with the file protocol from the local user's harddisk.

For this situation you have to connect to database in Single-User mode.

Starting SQL Server in single-user mode enables any member of the computer's local Administrators group to connect to the instance of SQL Server as a member of the sysadmin fixed server role.

1. Statement is used for static queries like DDLs i.e. create,drop,alter and prepareStatement is used for dynamic queries i.e. DML query.

Catching an exception while using a Python 'with' statement

The with statement has been available without the __future__ import since Python 2.6. You can get it as early as Python 2.5 (but at this point it's time to upgrade!) with:

Here's the closest thing to correct that you have. You're almost there, but with doesn't have an except clause:

Uninstalling JVM Monitor solved the issue for me.

I needed to do the same and had to query a query to get the result

I set my first query up to bring in all IDs from the table and all other information needed to filter:

This is how I worked around it as I couldn't get the Group By working at all - although I am rather "wet behind the ears" weith SQL (so please be gentle and constructive with feedback)

This means that the folder/file that you are trying to put on svn already exists there. My advice is that before doing anything just right click on the folder/file and click on repo-browser. By doing this you will be able to see all the files/sub-folders etc that are already present on svn. If the required file/folder is not present on the svn then you just delete(after taking backup) the file that you you want to add and then run an update.

I resized images as above and updated ios platform and cordova-plugin-splashscreen to latest and the flash to white screen after a second issue was fixed. However the initial spash image has a white border at bottom now.

The number of results can (theoretically) be greater than the range of an integer. I would refactor the code and work with the returned long value instead.

add_header works as well with proxy_pass as without. I just today set up a configuration where I've used exactly that directive. I have to admit though that I've struggled as well setting this up without exactly recalling the reason, though.

Right now I have a working configuration and it contains the following (among others):

Since nginx 1.7.5 you can use the keyword always to include custom headers even in error responses. For example:

Limitation: You cannot override the server header value using add_header.

I often do things like the following made-up example. (This example is from Informix SE running on Linux.)

The point of of this example is to delete all real estate exemption/abatement transaction records -- because the abatement application has a bug -- based on information in the real_estate table.

In this case last_update != nullmeans the account is not closed, and res_exempt != 'p' means the accounts are not personal property (commercial equipment/furnishings).

I like this method, because the filtering criteria -- at least for me -- is easier to read while creating the query, and to understand many months from now when I'm looking at it and wondering what I was thinking.

Not done this yet myself, but a quick bit of Google-Fu reveals a tech tip on blogs.oracle.com with examples of exactly what you ask for.

I had a similar problem, and found a way to work around it.

The problem is the way Laravel's query builder handles aggregates. It takes the first result returned and then returns the 'aggregate' value. This is usually fine, but when you combine count with groupBy you're returning a count per grouped item. So the first row's aggregate is just a count of the first group (so something low like 1 or 2 is likely).

So Laravel's count is out, but I combined the Laravel query builder with some raw SQL to get an accurate count of my grouped results.

For your example, I expect the following should work (and let you avoid the get):

If you want to make sure you're not wasting time selecting all the columns, you can avoid that when building your query:

I had the same issue. The solution was to add the link to the JQuery file as a trusted site in IE.

In regards to Python optimization, in addition to using PyPy (for pretty impressive speed-ups with zero change to your code), you could use PyPy's translation toolchain to compile an RPython-compliant version, or Cython to build an extension module, both of which are faster than the C version in my testing, with the Cython module nearly twice as fast. For reference I include C and PyPy benchmark results as well:

The RPython version has a couple of key changes. To translate into a standalone program you need to define your target, which in this case is the main function. It's expected to accept sys.argv as it's only argument, and is required to return an int. You can translate it by using translate.py, % translate.py euler12-rpython.py which translates to C and compiles it for you.

The Cython version was rewritten as an extension module _euler12.pyx, which I import and call from a normal python file. The _euler12.pyx is essentially the same as your version, with some additional static type declarations. I honestly have very little experience with either RPython or Cython, and was pleasantly surprised at the results. If you are using CPython, writing your CPU-intensive bits of code in a Cython extension module seems like a really easy way to optimize your program.

Mbstring is a non-default extension. This means it is not enabled by default. You must explicitly enable the module with the configure option.

Nobody seems to address the case of summing elements of a vector that can have NaN values in it, e.g. numerical_limits<double>::quite_NaN()

I usually loop through the elements and bluntly check.

Both the size attribute in HTML and the width property in CSS will set the width of an <input>. If you want to set the width to something closer to the width of each character use the **ch** unit as in:

CROSS APPLY can be used as a replacement with INNER JOIN when we need to get result from Master table and a function.

Note: the num variable can be any value close to 99.463, you will get the same print out. The point is to avoid the convenient c++11 "to_string" function. It took me a while to get out this trap. The best way is the stringstream and sprintf methods (C language). C++11 or newer should provided a second parameter as the number of digits after the floating point to show. Right now the default is 6. I am positing this so that others won't wast time on this subject.

I wrote my first version, please let me know if you find any bug that needs to be fixed. You can control the exact behavior with the iomanipulator. My function is for showing the number of digits after the decimal point.

Certainly if it's a simple, one-time function, I believe writing a plugin is overkill. It could be done much more easily by just passing the selector to the function as a parameter. Your code would look something like this:

Note that the $ in the variable name $param is not required. It is just a habit of mine to make it easy to remember that that variable contains a jQuery selector. You could just use param as well.

For this case word boundary (\b) can also be used instead of start anchor (^) and end anchor ($):

\b is a position between \w and \W (non-word char), or at the beginning or end of a string.

If you want to use $(formName).serializeArray() or $(formName).serialize(), you must add name='inputName' on your input element. or will not work!

player['score'] is your problem. player is apparently a list which means that there is no 'score' element. Instead you would do something like:

Of course, you would have to know the list indices (those are the 0 and 1 in my example).

Something like player['score'] is allowed in python, but player would have to be a dict.

If you are sure that the modification in the SQL file has no impact on your existing schema, you can also update the checksum of the existing schema.

I did this following a slight change in the sql file.

That's a technical answer, but you may be wondering why that's a case. Well, let's consider the following program.

What does this program print?

Did you guess 3? Too bad, this program won't compile. Why? Well, it so happens that addition of bytes in Java is defined to return an int. This, I believe was because the Java Virtual Machine doesn't define byte operations to save on bytecodes (there is a limited number of those, after all), using integer operations instead is an implementation detail exposed in a language.

But if a = a + b doesn't work, that would mean a += b would never work for bytes if it E1 += E2 was defined to be E1 = E1 + E2. As the previous example shows, that would be indeed the case. As a hack to make += operator work for bytes and shorts, there is an implicit cast involved. It's not that great of a hack, but back during the Java 1.0 work, the focus was on getting the language released to begin with. Now, because of backwards compatibility, this hack introduced in Java 1.0 couldn't be removed.

I once copied these files to the database storage folder for a mysql database which was working, started the db and waited for it to "repair" the files, then extracted them with mysqldump.

Sounds like the "...and I jump line by line..." part is wrong. Do you StepOver or StepIn and are you sure you don't accidentally miss the relevant call?

That said, debugging frameworks can be tedious for exactly this reason. To alleviate the problem, you can enable the "Enable frameworks debugging support" experiment. Happy debugging! :)

This was resolved. It turns out our IT Staff was correct. Both TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 were installed on the server. However, the issue was that our sites are running as ASP.NET 4.0 and you have to have ASP.NET 4.5 to run TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2. So, to resolve the issue, our IT Staff had to re-enable TLS 1.0 to allow a connection with PayTrace.

So in short, the error message, "the client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm", was caused because there was no SSL Protocol available on the server to communicate with PayTrace's servers.

UPDATE: Please do not enable TLS 1.0 on your servers, this was a temporary fix and is not longer applicable since there are now better work-arounds that ensure strong security practices. Please see accepted answer for a solution. FYI, I'm going to keep this answer on the site as it provides information on what the problem was, please do not down-vote.

I think I understand why Attent one does not work. It's because joining a computer to a domain is somehow also renaming the computer (the domain name part, enter in the name of the machine).

So do you try to do it in full WMI way, you've got a method in Win32_ComputerSystem class called JoinDomainOrWorkgroup. Doing it on the same level perhaps gives you more chance to make it work.

No one should ever have to keep writing app.use('/someRoute', require('someFile')) until it forms a heap of code.

It just doesn't make sense at all to be spending time invoking/defining routings. Even if you do need custom control, it's probably only for some of the time, and for the most bit you want to be able to just create a standard file structure of routings and have a module do it automatically.

Try Route Magic

As you scale your app, the routing invocations will start to form a giant heap of code that serves no purpose. You want to do just 2 lines of code to handle all the app.use routing invocations with Route Magic like this:

Defining ‘Midnight’

The word “midnight” is tricky to define.

Some think of it as the moment before a new day starts. Trying to represent that in software as tricky as the last moment of the day can always be subdivided as a smaller fraction of a second.

I suggest a better way of thinking about this is to get “first moment of the day”.

This supports the commonly used approach of defining a span of time as ‘Half-Open’, where the beginning is inclusive while the ending is exclusive. So a full day starts with the first moment of the day and runs up to, but not including, the first moment of the following day. A full day would like this (notice the date going from the 3rd to the 4th):

When you run a jar, your Main class itself becomes args[0] and your filename comes immediately after.

I had the same issue: I could locate my file when provided the absolute path from eclipse (because I was referring to the file as args[0]). Yet when I run the same from jar, it was trying to locate my main class - which is when I got the idea that I should be reading my file from args[1].

I made this Singleton for simple use, created an IOSVersion.swift file and added this code :

Following your comment posted to ceejayoz's answer, two things are messed up a litte:

1. $first is not an array, it's a string. Replace $first = $first[0] . "%" by $first .= "%". Just for simplicity. (PHP string operators)

2. The string being compared with LIKE operator should be quoted. Replace LIKE ".$first."") by LIKE '".$first."'"). (MySQL String Comparison Functions)

If you only need it once, it's overkill to load a plugin.

For a date "dd/mm/yyyy", this works for me:

So for a short answer: yes, this is an option, and a nice one. It says "when submitted, please don't go anywhere, just run this script" - quite to the point.

A minor improvement

To let the event handler know which form we're dealing with, it would seem an obvious way to pass on the sender object:

But instead, it will give you undefined. You can't access it because javascript: links live in a separate scope. Therefore I'd suggest the following format, it's only 13 characters more and works like a charm:

... now you can access the sender form properly. (You can write a simple "#" as action, it's quite common - but it has a side effect of scrolling to the top when submitting.)

Again, I like this approach because it's effortless and self-explaining. No "return false", no jQuery/domReady, no heavy weapons. It just does what it seems to do. Surely other methods work too, but for me, this is The Way Of The Samurai.

A note on validation

Forms only get submitted if their onsubmit event handler returns something truthy, so you can easily run some preemptive checks:

    <form action="/something.php" onsubmit="return isMyFormValid(this)">

Now isMyFormValid will run first, and if it returns false, server won't even be bothered. Needless to say, you will have to validate on server side too, and that's the more important one. But for quick and convenient early detection this is fine.

You are not forced to put it all on one line:-

It is much clearer than if/else because you can see immediately that both branches lead to x being assigned to.

If you're looking for an alternative to reflections I'd like to recommend Panda Utilities - AnnotationsScanner. It's a Guava-free (Guava has ~3MB, Panda Utilities has ~200kb) scanner based on the reflections library source code.

It's also dedicated for future-based searches. If you'd like to scan multiple times included sources or even provide an API, which allows someone scanning current classpath, AnnotationsScannerProcess caches all fetched ClassFiles, so it's really fast.

Simple example of AnnotationsScanner usage:

I had the same use case, You can change your method defination in the following way :

The only problem is it accepts any key in place of "fruits" but You can easily get rid of a wrapper if it is not big functionality.

In addition to that, passing true to $.noConflict(true); will also restore previous (if any) global variable jQuery, so that plugins can be initialized with correct jQuery version when multiple versions are being used.

Let me give my 2 cents of a real-world example-analogy close to IT.

Lets say you have a subscription site, e.g a wordpress site

Each user has a role, eg admin, subscriber and so on. Many users can be admins, subscribers etc..

So abstraction here is reflected in the fact that any user with admin role can do a set of things, it does not matter which specific user this is (this is an example of abstraction).

On the other hand, subscriber users do not have access to certain settings of the site, thus some internals of the application are encapsulated for plain subscribers (this is an example of encapsulation)

As one can see abstraction and encapsulation are relative concepts, they apply with respect to something specific.

One can follow this line of reasoning and explain polymoprhism and inheritance.
