Yes, there is a difference. continue forces the loop to start at the next iteration while pass means "there is no code to execute here" and will continue through the remainder or the loop body.

Run these and see the difference:

In my case, I did two things:

1. moved xampp/mysql/backup files into xampp/mysql/data
2. RUN XAMPP as Administrator

PowerShell is very powerful, more powerful than the standard built-ins of the Unix shells (but only because it includes much of the functionality usually shelled out to subprograms). Also, consider that you can write applets in any .NET language, including IronPython, IronRuby, PerlNet, etc.. or you can simply call your Cygwin commands from PowerShell, ignoring all the extra functionality and it will work similarly to Bash, KornShell, or whatever...

x +: N, The start position of the vector is given by x and you count up from x by N.

There is also

x -: N, in this case the start position is x and you count down from x by N.

N is a constant and x is an expression that can contain iterators.

So some of you have had gripes about my millisecond approach because of day light savings time. So Im going to bash this out. First, Some countries and states do not have Day light savings time. Second Adding exactly 24 hours is a full day. If the date number dose not change once a year but then gets fixed 6 months later i don't see a problem there. But for the purpose of being definite and having to deal with allot the evil Date() i have thought this through and now thoroughly hate Date. So this is my new Approach

So I often find myself writing a silly utility method for the quickest way to dummy out a code block, then in completing debugging find all calls to it, so provided the implementation doesn't change this can be used for that.

JLS points out if (false) does not trigger "unreachable code" for the specific reason that this would break support for debug flags, i.e., basically this use case (h/t @auselen). (static final boolean DEBUG = false; for instance).

I replaced while for if, producing a more obscure use case. I believe you can trip up your IDE, like Eclipse, with this behavior, but this edit is 4 years into the future, and I don't have an Eclipse environment to play with.

Typically this is bad practice. Since it is possible to call addEdge before addNode and have a NullPointerException (NPE) thrown, addEdge should check if the result is null and throw a more descriptive Exception. In my opinion, the only time it is acceptable not to check for nulls is when you expect the result to never be null, in which case, an NPE is plenty descriptive.

Let' say you have 3 Django models which are related.

Here you can query M2 model and its relative M1 objects using select_relation field and M3 objects using prefetch_relation field.

However as we've mentioned M1's relation from M2 is a ForeignKey, it just returns only 1 record for any M2 object. Same thing applies for OneToOneField as well.

But M3's relation from M2 is a ManyToManyField which might return any number of M1 objects.

Consider a case where you have 2 M2 objects m21, m22 who have same 5 associated M3 objects with IDs 1,2,3,4,5. When you fetch associated M3 objects for each of those M2 objects, if you use select related, this is how it's going to work.

Steps:

1. Find m21 object.
2. Query all the M3 objects related to m21 object whose IDs are 1,2,3,4,5.
3. Repeat same thing for m22 object and all other M2 objects.

As we have same 1,2,3,4,5 IDs for both m21, m22 objects, if we use select_related option, it's going to query the DB twice for the same IDs which were already fetched.

Instead if you use prefetch_related, when you try to get M2 objects, it will make a note of all the IDs that your objects returned (Note: only the IDs) while querying M2 table and as last step, Django is going to make a query to M3 table with the set of all IDs that your M2 objects have returned. and join them to M2 objects using Python instead of database.

This way you're querying all the M3 objects only once which improves performance.

There are no vertical lines in html that you can use but you can fake one by absolutely positioning a div outside of your container with a top:0; and bottom:0; style.

Actually not. A rails console is, under the hood, an IRB, so all you can do in IRB you will be able to do in a rails console. Since for printing in an IRB we use puts, we use the same command for printing in a rails console.

Imagine you are developing a web-application and you decide to decouple the functionality from the presentation of the application, because it affords greater freedom.

You create an API and let others implement their own front-ends over it as well. What you just did here is implement an SOA methodology, i.e. using web-services.

Web services make functional building-blocks accessible over standard Internet protocols independent of platforms and programming languages.

So, you design an interchange mechanism between the back-end (web-service) that does the processing and generation of something useful, and the front-end (which consumes the data), which could be anything. (A web, mobile, or desktop application, or another web-service). The only limitation here is that the front-end and back-end must "speak" the same "language".

That's where SOAP and REST come in. They are standard ways you'd pick communicate with the web-service.

SOAP:

SOAP internally uses XML to send data back and forth. SOAP messages have rigid structure and the response XML then needs to be parsed. WSDL is a specification of what requests can be made, with which parameters, and what they will return. It is a complete specification of your API.

REST:

REST is a design concept.

Indeed when both inputs are boolean, the operators are considered the Boolean Logical Operators and behave similar to the Conditional-And (&&) and Conditional-Or (||) operators except for the fact that they don't short-circuit so while the following is safe:

"Short-circuiting" means the operator does not necessarily examine all conditions. In the above examples, && will examine the second condition only when a is not null (otherwise the whole statement will return false, and it would be moot to examine following conditions anyway), so the statement of a.something will not raise an exception, or is considered "safe."

The & operator always examines every condition in the clause, so in the examples above, a.something may be evaluated when a is in fact a null value, raising an exception.

Use Range("A1").Text instead of .Value

Why?
Because the .Text property of Range object returns what is literally visible in the spreadsheet, so if you cell displays for example i100l:25he*_92 then <- Text will return exactly what it in the cell including any formatting.
The .Value and .Value2 properties return what's stored in the cell under the hood excluding formatting. Specially .Value2 for date types, it will return the decimal representation.

At the very top level I think quality REST API docs require at least the following:

• a list of all your API endpoints (base/relative URLs)
• corresponding HTTP GET/POST/... method type for each endpoint
• request/response MIME-type (how to encode params and parse replies)
• a sample request/response, including HTTP headers
• type and format specified for all params, including those in the URL, body and headers
• a brief text description and important notes
• a short code snippet showing the use of the endpoint in popular web programming languages

Also there are a lot of JSON/XML-based doc frameworks which can parse your API definition or schema and generate a convenient set of docs for you. But the choice for a doc generation system depends on your project, language, development environment and many other things.

Often when you use conditional WHERE clauses you end upp with a vastly inefficient query, which is noticeable for large datasets where indexes are used. A great way to optimize the query for different values of your parameter is to make a different execution plan for each value of the parameter. You can achieve this using OPTION (RECOMPILE).

In this example it would probably not make much difference, but say the condition should only be used in one of two cases, then you could notice a big impact.

There are probably embedded tabs (CHAR(9)) etc. as well. You can find out what other characters you need to replace (we have no idea what your goal is) with something like this:

You might also consider doing better cleansing of this data before it gets into your database. Cleaning it every time you need to search or display is not the best approach.

My reason for adding the visibility references were tabs. Apparently if you used the attached property on any other tab outside of the initially visible tab, the attached property didn't work until you manually focused the control.

The other obstacle was creating a more elegant way of resetting the underlying property to false when it lost focus. That's where the lost focus events came in.

Some applications launches themselves by protocols. like itunes with "itms://" links. I don't know however how you can register that with windows.

I strongly suggest using the "default_value_for" gem: https://github.com/FooBarWidget/default_value_for

There are some tricky scenarios that pretty much require overriding the initialize method, which that gem does.

Examples:

Your db default is NULL, your model/ruby-defined default is "some string", but you actually want to set the value to nil for whatever reason: MyModel.new(my_attr: nil)

Most solutions here will fail to set the value to nil, and will instead set it to the default.

OK, so instead of taking the ||= approach, you switch to my_attr_changed?...

BUT now imagine your db default is "some string", your model/ruby-defined default is "some other string", but under a certain scenario, you want to set the value to "some string" (the db default): MyModel.new(my_attr: 'some_string')

This will result in my_attr_changed? being false because the value matches the db default, which in turn will fire your ruby-defined default code and set the value to "some other string" -- again, not what you desired.

For those reasons I don't think this can properly be accomplished with just an after_initialize hook.

The easiest way to think of this is imagine that there is a variable global to the entire application that is holding the current exception.

As each exception is thrown, "currentException" is set to that exception. When the application ends, if currentException is != null, then the runtime reports the error.

In the test file, convert the import of the function from this:

I'm running under .NET 4.5.2, and I wasn't happy with any of these answers. As I'm talking to a system which supports TLS 1.2, and seeing as SSL3, TLS 1.0, and TLS 1.1 are all broken and unsafe for use, I don't want to enable these protocols. Under .NET 4.5.2, the SSL3 and TLS 1.0 protocols are both enabled by default, which I can see in code by inspecting ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol. Under .NET 4.7, there's the new SystemDefault protocol mode which explicitly hands over selection of the protocol to the OS, where I believe relying on registry or other system configuration settings would be appropriate. That doesn't seem to be supported under .NET 4.5.2 however. In the interests of writing forwards-compatible code, that will keep making the right decisions even when TLS 1.2 is inevitably broken in the future, or when I upgrade to .NET 4.7+ and hand over more responsibility for selecting an appropriate protocol to the OS, I adopted the following code:

This code will detect when a known insecure protocol is enabled, and in this case, we'll remove these insecure protocols. If no other explicit protocols remain, we'll then force enable TLS 1.2, as the only known secure protocol supported by .NET at this point in time. This code is forwards compatible, as it will take into consideration new protocol types it doesn't know about being added in the future, and it will also play nice with the new SystemDefault state in .NET 4.7, meaning I won't have to re-visit this code in the future. I'd strongly recommend adopting an approach like this, rather than hard-coding any particular security protocol states unconditionally, otherwise you'll have to recompile and replace your client with a new version in order to upgrade to a new security protocol when TLS 1.2 is inevitably broken, or more likely you'll have to leave the existing insecure protocols turned on for years on your server, making your organisation a target for attacks.

My issue was (as OP suggested) a corrupt .gitignore file. I didn't believe that it was and ignored the possibility until everything else failed. The corruption didn't show up in vi, but there were two bytes on the start of the file that caused the .gitignore file to be ignored. For me, these only showed up when I typed cat .gitignore, which showed:

I have no idea how these ended up there, but recreating the file fixed the issue. A hex analysis of the corrupt file showed the following:

If you're not completely attached to using "from" and "to" as your option names, it's fairly easy to implement this using getopts:

As the others are suggesting, if this is your first time writing bash scripts you should really read up on some basics. This was just a quick tutorial on how getopts works.

While there are two excellent answers telling you how to do it, I feel that another answer is missing: In most cases you shouldn't do it at all.

Arrays are cumbersome, in most cases you are better off using the Collection API.

With Collections, you can add and remove elements and there are specialized Collections for different functionality (index-based lookup, sorting, uniqueness, FIFO-access, concurrency etc.).

While it's of course good and important to know about Arrays and their usage, in most cases using Collections makes APIs a lot more manageable (which is why new libraries like Google Guava hardly use Arrays at all).

So, for your scenario, I'd prefer a List of Lists, and I'd create it using Guava:

You cannot insert data because you have a quota of 0 on the tablespace. To fix this, run

If you have Excel 2007 you can write VBA to alter the connections (i.e. the external data queries) in a workbook and update the CommandText property. Synchronized locks does not offer any mechanism of waiting queue in which after the execution of one thread any thread running in parallel can acquire the lock. Due to which the thread which is there in the system and running for a longer period of time never gets chance to access the shared resource thus leading to starvation.

An update for iOS 6 : using auto-layout, even though you still can't set the UITextField's height from the Size Inspector in the Interface Builder (as of Xcode 4.5 DP4 at least), it is now possible to set a Height constraint on it, which you can edit from the Interface Builder.

If you only ever intend to have one form element, in this case a submit button, one form for all should work just fine.

My recommendation Do one form per product, and change your markup to something like:

Think of strings as abstract objects, and char arrays as containers. The string can be any size but the container must be at least 1 more than the string length (to hold the null terminator).

C has very little syntactical support for strings. There are no string operators (only char-array and char-pointer operators). You can't assign strings.

But you can call functions to help achieve what you want.

The strncpy() function could be used here. For maximum safety I suggest following this pattern:

I got this to finally work in a semi-automatic fashion without the use of scripts... but it does take up 3 cells to pull it off. Borrowing from a bit from previous answers, I start with a cell that has nothing more than =NOW() it in to show the time. For example, we'll put this into cell A1...

I found a different solution to this issue. Apparently my IIS 7 did not have 32bit mode enabled in my Application Pool by default.

To enable 32bit mode, open IIS and select your Application Pool. Mine was named "ASP.NET v4.0".
Right click, go to "Advanced Settings" and change the section named: "Enabled 32-bit Applications" to true.

Restart your web server and try again.

I understand using a global variable is sometimes the most convenient thing to do, especially in cases where usage of class makes the easiest thing so much harder (e.g., multiprocessing). I ran into the same problem with declaring global variables and figured it out with some experiments.

The reason that g_c was not changed by the run function within your class is that the referencing to the global name within g_c was not established precisely within the function. The way Python handles global declaration is in fact quite tricky. The command global g_c has two effects:

1. Preconditions the entrance of the key "g_c" into the dictionary accessible by the built-in function, globals(). However, the key will not appear in the dictionary until after a value is assigned to it.

2. (Potentially) alters the way Python looks for the variable g_c within the current method.

The full understanding of (2) is particularly complex. First of all, it only potentially alters, because if no assignment to the name g_c occurs within the method, then Python defaults to searching for it among the globals(). This is actually a fairly common thing, as is the case of referencing within a method modules that are imported all the way at the beginning of the code.

However, if an assignment command occurs anywhere within the method, Python defaults to finding the name g_c within local variables. This is true even when a referencing occurs before an actual assignment, which will lead to the classic error:

UnboundLocalError: local variable 'g_c' referenced before assignment

Now, if the declaration global g_c occurs anywhere within the method, even after any referencing or assignment, then Python defaults to finding the name g_c within global variables. The currently-accepted answer to this question is wrong. C11 6.9.2/2:

If a translation unit contains one or more tentative definitions for an identifier, and the translation unit contains no external definition for that identifier, then the behavior is exactly as if the translation unit contains a file scope declaration of that identifier, with the composite type as of the end of the translation unit, with an initializer equal to 0.

So the original code in the question behaves as if file1.c and file2.c each contained the line int i = 0; at the end, which causes undefined behaviour due to multiple external definitions (6.9/5).

Since this is a Semantic rule and not a Constraint, no diagnostic is required.

std::map will sort its elements by keys. It doesn't care about the values when sorting.

You can use std::vector<std::pair<K,V>> then sort it using std::sort followed by std::stable_sort:

Thought this might help as well. A) it was designed to keep payload to its minimum while sending back to server, after each sort. (instead of sending all elements each time or iterating through many elements that server might chuck out) B) I needed to send back custom id without compromising the id / name of the element. This code will get the list from asp.net server and then upon sorting only 2 values will be sent back: The db id of sorted element and db id of the element next to which it was dropped. Based on those 2 values, server can easily identify the new postion.

JButton#isEnabled changes the user interactivity of a component, that is, whether a user is able to interact with it (press it) or not.

When a JButton is pressed, it fires a actionPerformed event.

You are receiving Add button is pressed when you press the confirm button because the add button is enabled. As stated, it has nothing to do with the pressed start of the button.

Based on you code, if you tried to check the "pressed" start of the add button within the confirm button's ActionListener it would always be false, as the button will only be in the pressed state while the add button's ActionListeners are being called.

Based on all this information, I would suggest you might want to consider using a JCheckBox which you can then use JCheckBox#isSelected to determine if it has being checked or not.

Closure

A closure is not a function, and not an expression. It must be seen as a kind of 'snapshot' from the used variables outside the function scope and used inside the function. Grammatically, one should say: 'take the closure of the variables'.

Again, in other words: A closure is a copy of the relevant context of variables on which the function depends on.

Once more (naïf): A closure is having access to variables who are not being passed as parameter.

Bear in mind that these functional concepts strongly depend upon the programming language / environment you use. In JavaScript, the closure depends on lexical scoping (which is true in most C-languages).

So, returning a function is mostly returning an anonymous/unnamed function. When the function access variables, not passed as parameter, and within its (lexical) scope, a closure has been taken.

All are using closures. Don't confuse the point of execution with closures. If the 'snapshot' of the closures is taken at the wrong moment, the values may be unexpected but certainly a closure is taken!

I think that the RoundingMode you are looking for is ROUND_HALF_EVEN. From the javadoc:

Rounding mode to round towards the "nearest neighbor" unless both neighbors are equidistant, in which case, round towards the even neighbor. Behaves as for ROUND_HALF_UP if the digit to the left of the discarded fraction is odd; behaves as for ROUND_HALF_DOWN if it's even. The problem is related to AppCompat library. With it, you have
