Sys is undefined

Hi thanx a lot it solved my issue ,

By default vs 2008 will add

 <!--<add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="Microsoft.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, Microsoft.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" />
      <add verb="GET" path="ScriptResource.axd" type="Microsoft.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler" validate="false" />-->

Need to correct Default config(Above) to below code FIX

 <add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"/>
  <add verb="GET" path="ScriptResource.axd" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler" validate="false"/>

Show/Hide Multiple Divs with Jquery

If you want to be able to show / hide singular divs and / or groups of divs with less code, just apply several classes to them, to insert them into groups if needed.

Example :

.group1 {}
.group2 {}
.group3 {}

<div class="group3"></div>
<div class="group1 group2"></div>
<div class="group1 group3 group2"></div>

Then you just need to use an identifier to link the action to he target, and with 5,6 lines of jquery code you have everything you need.

How to add column to numpy array

It can be done like this:

import numpy as np

# create a random matrix:
A = np.random.normal(size=(5,2))

# add a column of zeros to it:
print(np.hstack((A,np.zeros((A.shape[0],1)))))

In general, if A is an m*n matrix, and you need to add a column, you have to create an n*1 matrix of zeros, then use "hstack" to add the matrix of zeros to the right of the matrix A.

Reloading the page gives wrong GET request with AngularJS HTML5 mode

I have resolved the issue by adding below code snippet into node.js file.

app.get("/*", function (request, response) {
    console.log('Unknown API called');
    response.redirect('/#' + request.url);
});

Note : when we refresh the page, it will look for the API instead of Angular page (Because of no # tag in URL.) . Using the above code, I am redirecting to the url with #

php date validation

You could use checkdate. For example, something like this:

$test_date = '03/22/2010';
$test_arr  = explode('/', $test_date);
if (checkdate($test_arr[0], $test_arr[1], $test_arr[2])) {
    // valid date ...
}

A more paranoid approach, that doesn't blindly believe the input:

$test_date = '03/22/2010';
$test_arr  = explode('/', $test_date);
if (count($test_arr) == 3) {
    if (checkdate($test_arr[0], $test_arr[1], $test_arr[2])) {
        // valid date ...
    } else {
        // problem with dates ...
    }
} else {
    // problem with input ...
}

Dealing with "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space" error

The java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space message indicates that the Permanent Generation’s area in memory is exhausted.

Any Java applications is allowed to use a limited amount of memory. The exact amount of memory your particular application can use is specified during application startup.

Java memory is separated into different regions which can be seen in the following image:

enter image description here

Metaspace: A new memory space is born

The JDK 8 HotSpot JVM is now using native memory for the representation of class metadata and is called Metaspace; similar to the Oracle JRockit and IBM JVM's.

The good news is that it means no more java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space problems and no need for you to tune and monitor this memory space anymore using Java_8_Download or higher.

Convert String to equivalent Enum value

Assuming you use Java 5 enums (which is not so certain since you mention old Enumeration class), you can use the valueOf method of java.lang.Enum subclass:

MyEnum e = MyEnum.valueOf("ONE_OF_CONSTANTS");

How to get filename without extension from file path in Ruby

If you have access to ENV variables, scan combined with this little regex (which finds the last but one word, a dot, then the last word of the string) will put the file's name into 'filename':

filename = ENV['SCRIPT_NAME'].scan(/\w+\.\w+$/)

Obviously, you can use scan and the regex on any path name that includes the filename, and __FILE__ is the obvious choice:

__FILE__.scan(/\w+\.\w+$/)

MAX function in where clause mysql

Getting mouse position in c#

To answer your specific example:

// your example
Location.X = Cursor.Position.X;
Location.Y = Cursor.Position.Y;

// sample code
Console.WriteLine("x: " + Cursor.Position.X + " y: " + Cursor.Position.Y);

Don't forget to add using System.Windows.Forms;, and adding the reference to it (right click on references > add reference > .NET tab > Systems.Windows.Forms > ok)

Generate a Hash from string in Javascript

If you want to avoid collisions you may want to use a secure hash like SHA-256. There are several JavaScript SHA-256 implementations.

I wrote tests to compare several hash implementations, see https://github.com/brillout/test-javascript-hash-implementations.

Or go to http://brillout.github.io/test-javascript-hash-implementations/, to run the tests.

Adding HTML entities using CSS content

Update: PointedEars mentions that the correct stand in for &nbsp; in all css situations would be
'\a0 ' implying that the space is a terminator to the hex string and is absorbed by the escaped sequence. He further pointed out this authoritative description which sounds like a good solution to the problem I described and fixed below.

What you need to do is use the escaped unicode. Despite what you've been told \00a0 is not a perfect stand-in for &nbsp; within CSS; so try:

content:'>\a0 ';          /* or */
content:'>\0000a0';       /* because you'll find: */
content:'No\a0 Break';    /* and */
content:'No\0000a0Break'; /* becomes No&nbsp;Break as opposed to below */

Specifically using \0000a0 as &nbsp;. If you try, as suggested by mathieu and millikin:

content:'No\00a0Break'   /* becomes No&#2571;reak */

It takes the B into the hex escaped characters. The same occurs with 0-9a-fA-F.

How to extract a string between two delimiters

  String s = "ABC[This is to extract]";

    System.out.println(s);
    int startIndex = s.indexOf('[');
    System.out.println("indexOf([) = " + startIndex);
    int endIndex = s.indexOf(']');
    System.out.println("indexOf(]) = " + endIndex);
    System.out.println(s.substring(startIndex + 1, endIndex));

How to redirect output of systemd service to a file

If you have a newer distro with a newer systemd (systemd version 236 or newer), you can set the values of StandardOutput or StandardError to file:YOUR_ABSPATH_FILENAME.

Long story:

In newer versions of systemd there is a relatively new option (the github request is from 2016 ish and the enhancement is merged/closed 2017 ish) where you can set the values of StandardOutput or StandardError to file:YOUR_ABSPATH_FILENAME. The file:path option is documented in the most recent systemd.exec man page.

This new feature is relatively new and so is not available for older distros like centos-7 (or any centos before that).

Updating property value in properties file without deleting other values

Open the output stream and store properties after you have closed the input stream.

FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream("First.properties");
Properties props = new Properties();
props.load(in);
in.close();

FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream("First.properties");
props.setProperty("country", "america");
props.store(out, null);
out.close();

Get current NSDate in timestamp format

    NSDate *todaysDate = [NSDate new];
NSDateFormatter *formatter = [NSDateFormatter new];
[formatter setDateFormat:@"MM-dd-yyyy HH:mm:ss"];
NSString *strDateTime = [formatter stringFromDate:todaysDate];

NSString *strFileName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"/Users/Shared/Recording_%@.mov",strDateTime];
NSLog(@"filename:%@",strFileName);

Log will be : filename:/Users/Shared/Recording_06-28-2016 12:53:26.mov

How to hide console window in python?

If all you want to do is run your Python Script on a windows computer that has the Python Interpreter installed, converting the extension of your saved script from '.py' to '.pyw' should do the trick.

But if you're using py2exe to convert your script into a standalone application that would run on any windows machine, you will need to make the following changes to your 'setup.py' file.

The following example is of a simple python-GUI made using Tkinter:

from distutils.core import setup
import py2exe
setup (console = ['tkinter_example.pyw'],
       options = { 'py2exe' : {'packages':['Tkinter']}})

Change "console" in the code above to "windows"..

from distutils.core import setup
import py2exe
setup (windows = ['tkinter_example.pyw'],
       options = { 'py2exe' : {'packages':['Tkinter']}})

This will only open the Tkinter generated GUI and no console window.

How to make a launcher

Just develop a normal app and then add a couple of lines to the app's manifest file.

First you need to add the following attribute to your activity:

            android:launchMode="singleTask"

Then add two categories to the intent filter :

            <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
            <category android:name="android.intent.category.HOME" />

The result could look something like this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
        package="com.dummy.app"
        android:versionCode="1"
        android:versionName="1.0" >

        <uses-sdk
            android:minSdkVersion="11"
            android:targetSdkVersion="19" />

        <application
            android:allowBackup="true"
            android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher"
            android:label="@string/app_name"
            android:theme="@style/AppTheme" >
            <activity
                android:name="com.dummy.app.MainActivity"
                android:launchMode="singleTask"
                android:label="@string/app_name" >
                <intent-filter>
                    <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
                    <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
                    <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
                    <category android:name="android.intent.category.HOME" />
                </intent-filter>
            </activity>
        </application>

    </manifest>

It's that simple!

What are 'get' and 'set' in Swift?

The getting and setting of variables within classes refers to either retrieving ("getting") or altering ("setting") their contents.

Consider a variable members of a class family. Naturally, this variable would need to be an integer, since a family can never consist of two point something people.

So you would probably go ahead by defining the members variable like this:

class family {
   var members:Int
}

This, however, will give people using this class the possibility to set the number of family members to something like 0 or 1. And since there is no such thing as a family of 1 or 0, this is quite unfortunate.

This is where the getters and setters come in. This way you can decide for yourself how variables can be altered and what values they can receive, as well as deciding what content they return.

Returning to our family class, let's make sure nobody can set the members value to anything less than 2:

class family {
  var _members:Int = 2
  var members:Int {
   get {
     return _members
   }
   set (newVal) {
     if newVal >= 2 {
       _members = newVal
     } else {
       println('error: cannot have family with less than 2 members')
     }
   }
  }
}

Now we can access the members variable as before, by typing instanceOfFamily.members, and thanks to the setter function, we can also set it's value as before, by typing, for example: instanceOfFamily.members = 3. What has changed, however, is the fact that we cannot set this variable to anything smaller than 2 anymore.

Note the introduction of the _members variable, which is the actual variable to store the value that we set through the members setter function. The original members has now become a computed property, meaning that it only acts as an interface to deal with our actual variable.

Reading From A Text File - Batch

Your code "for /f "tokens=* delims=" %%x in (a.txt) do echo %%x" will work on most Windows Operating Systems unless you have modified commands.

So you could instead "cd" into the directory to read from before executing the "for /f" command to follow out the string. For instance if the file "a.txt" is located at C:\documents and settings\%USERNAME%\desktop\a.txt then you'd use the following.

cd "C:\documents and settings\%USERNAME%\desktop"
for /f "tokens=* delims=" %%x in (a.txt) do echo %%x
echo.
echo.
echo.
pause >nul
exit

But since this doesn't work on your computer for x reason there is an easier and more efficient way of doing this. Using the "type" command.

@echo off
color a
cls
cd "C:\documents and settings\%USERNAME%\desktop"
type a.txt
echo.
echo.
pause >nul
exit

Or if you'd like them to select the file from which to write in the batch you could do the following.

@echo off
:A
color a
cls
echo Choose the file that you want to read.
echo.
echo.
tree
echo.
echo.
echo.
set file=
set /p file=File:
cls
echo Reading from %file%
echo.
type %file%
echo.
echo.
echo.
set re=
set /p re=Y/N?:
if %re%==Y goto :A
if %re%==y goto :A
exit

How can I use an http proxy with node.js http.Client?

One thing that took me a while to figure out, use 'http' to access the proxy, even if you're trying to proxy through to a https server. This works for me using Charles (osx protocol analyser):

var http = require('http');

http.get ({
    host: '127.0.0.1',
    port: 8888,
    path: 'https://www.google.com/accounts/OAuthGetRequestToken'
}, function (response) {
    console.log (response);
});

Is it ok to use `any?` to check if an array is not empty?

I'll suggest using unlessand blank to check is empty or not.

Example :

unless a.blank?
  a = "Is not empty"
end

This will know 'a' empty or not. If 'a' is blank then the below code will not run.

Sending JWT token in the headers with Postman

I had the same issue in Flask and after trying the first 2 solutions which are the same (Authorization: Bearer <token>), and getting this:

{
    "description": "Unsupported authorization type",
    "error": "Invalid JWT header",
    "status_code": 401
}

I managed to finally solve it by using:

Authorization: jwt <token>

Thought it might save some time to people who encounter the same thing.

How is __eq__ handled in Python and in what order?

The a == b expression invokes A.__eq__, since it exists. Its code includes self.value == other. Since int's don't know how to compare themselves to B's, Python tries invoking B.__eq__ to see if it knows how to compare itself to an int.

If you amend your code to show what values are being compared:

class A(object):
    def __eq__(self, other):
        print("A __eq__ called: %r == %r ?" % (self, other))
        return self.value == other
class B(object):
    def __eq__(self, other):
        print("B __eq__ called: %r == %r ?" % (self, other))
        return self.value == other

a = A()
a.value = 3
b = B()
b.value = 4
a == b

it will print:

A __eq__ called: <__main__.A object at 0x013BA070> == <__main__.B object at 0x013BA090> ?
B __eq__ called: <__main__.B object at 0x013BA090> == 3 ?

Copy a file in a sane, safe and efficient way

I want to make the very important note that the LINUX method using sendfile() has a major problem in that it can not copy files more than 2GB in size! I had implemented it following this question and was hitting problems because I was using it to copy HDF5 files that were many GB in size.

http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/sendfile.2.html

sendfile() will transfer at most 0x7ffff000 (2,147,479,552) bytes, returning the number of bytes actually transferred. (This is true on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.)

Drop all data in a pandas dataframe

You need to pass the labels to be dropped.

df.drop(df.index, inplace=True)

By default, it operates on axis=0.

You can achieve the same with

df.iloc[0:0]

which is much more efficient.

Efficient way to return a std::vector in c++

You should return by value.

The standard has a specific feature to improve the efficiency of returning by value. It's called "copy elision", and more specifically in this case the "named return value optimization (NRVO)".

Compilers don't have to implement it, but then again compilers don't have to implement function inlining (or perform any optimization at all). But the performance of the standard libraries can be pretty poor if compilers don't optimize, and all serious compilers implement inlining and NRVO (and other optimizations).

When NRVO is applied, there will be no copying in the following code:

std::vector<int> f() {
    std::vector<int> result;
    ... populate the vector ...
    return result;
}

std::vector<int> myvec = f();

But the user might want to do this:

std::vector<int> myvec;
... some time later ...
myvec = f();

Copy elision does not prevent a copy here because it's an assignment rather than an initialization. However, you should still return by value. In C++11, the assignment is optimized by something different, called "move semantics". In C++03, the above code does cause a copy, and although in theory an optimizer might be able to avoid it, in practice its too difficult. So instead of myvec = f(), in C++03 you should write this:

std::vector<int> myvec;
... some time later ...
f().swap(myvec);

There is another option, which is to offer a more flexible interface to the user:

template <typename OutputIterator> void f(OutputIterator it) {
    ... write elements to the iterator like this ...
    *it++ = 0;
    *it++ = 1;
}

You can then also support the existing vector-based interface on top of that:

std::vector<int> f() {
    std::vector<int> result;
    f(std::back_inserter(result));
    return result;
}

This might be less efficient than your existing code, if your existing code uses reserve() in a way more complex than just a fixed amount up front. But if your existing code basically calls push_back on the vector repeatedly, then this template-based code ought to be as good.

Download file and automatically save it to folder

A much simpler solution would be to download the file using Chrome. In this manner you don't have to manually click on the save button.

using System;
using System.Diagnostics;
using System.ComponentModel;

namespace MyProcessSample
{
    class MyProcess
    {
        public static void Main()
        {
            Process myProcess = new Process();
            myProcess.Start("chrome.exe","http://www.com/newfile.zip");
        }
    }
}

Sending credentials with cross-domain posts?

In jQuery 3 and perhaps earlier versions, the following simpler config also works for individual requests:

$.ajax(
        'https://foo.bar.com,
        {
            dataType: 'json',
            xhrFields: {
                withCredentials: true
            },
            success: successFunc
        }
    );

The full error I was getting in Firefox Dev Tools -> Network tab (in the Security tab for an individual request) was:

An error occurred during a connection to foo.bar.com.SSL peer was unable to negotiate an acceptable set of security parameters.Error code: SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE_ALERT

Column order manipulation using col-lg-push and col-lg-pull in Twitter Bootstrap 3

If you need to organize data in columns of 1 / 2 / 4 depending of the viewport size then push and pull may be no option at all. No matter how you order your items in the first place, one of the sizes may give you a wrong order.

A solution in this case is to use nested rows and cols without any push or pull classes.

Example

In XS you want...

A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H

In SM you want...

A   E
B   F
C   G
D   H

In MD and above you want...

A   C   E   G
B   D   F   H

Solution

Use nested two-column child elements in a surrounding two-column parent element:

Here is a working snippet:

_x000D_
_x000D_
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.12.4.min.js" type="text/javascript" ></script>_x000D_
<link href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"> _x000D_
<script src="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>_x000D_
_x000D_
<div class="row">_x000D_
  <div class="col-sm-6">_x000D_
    <div class="row">_x000D_
      <div class="col-md-6"><p>A</p><p>B</p></div>_x000D_
      <div class="col-md-6"><p>C</p><p>D</p></div>_x000D_
    </div>_x000D_
  </div>_x000D_
  <div class="col-sm-6">_x000D_
    <div class="row">_x000D_
      <div class="col-md-6"><p>E</p><p>F</p></div>_x000D_
      <div class="col-md-6"><p>G</p><p>H</p></div>_x000D_
    </div>_x000D_
  </div>_x000D_
</div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Another beauty of this solution is, that the items appear in the code in their natural order (A, B, C, ... H) and don't have to be shuffled, which is nice for CMS generation.

Is there a wikipedia API just for retrieve content summary?

This code allows you to retrieve the content of the first paragraph of the page in plain text.

Parts of this answer come from here and thus here. See MediaWiki API documentation for more information.

// action=parse: get parsed text
// page=Baseball: from the page Baseball
// format=json: in json format
// prop=text: send the text content of the article
// section=0: top content of the page

$url = 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=parse&page=Baseball&prop=text&section=0';
$ch = curl_init($url);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "TestScript"); // required by wikipedia.org server; use YOUR user agent with YOUR contact information. (otherwise your IP might get blocked)
$c = curl_exec($ch);

$json = json_decode($c);

$content = $json->{'parse'}->{'text'}->{'*'}; // get the main text content of the query (it's parsed HTML)

// pattern for first match of a paragraph
$pattern = '#<p>(.*)</p>#Us'; // http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/showthread.php?t=10352690

Mongoose: CastError: Cast to ObjectId failed for value "[object Object]" at path "_id"

For all those people stuck with this problem, but still couldn't solve it: I stumbled upon the same error and found the _id field being empty.

I described it here in more detail. Still have not found a solution except changing the fields in _id to not-ID fields which is a dirty hack to me. I'm probably going to file a bug report for mongoose. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: I updated my thread. I filed a ticket and they confirmed the missing _id problem. It is going to be fixed in the 4.x.x version which has a release candidate available right now. The rc is not recommended for productive use!

String concatenation in Ruby

I'd prefer using Pathname:

require 'pathname' # pathname is in stdlib
Pathname(ROOT_DIR) + project + 'App.config'

about << and + from ruby docs:

+: Returns a new String containing other_str concatenated to str

<<: Concatenates the given object to str. If the object is a Fixnum between 0 and 255, it is converted to a character before concatenation.

so difference is in what becomes to first operand (<< makes changes in place, + returns new string so it is memory heavier) and what will be if first operand is Fixnum (<< will add as if it was character with code equal to that number, + will raise error)

How to import JsonConvert in C# application?

After instaling the package you need to add the newtonsoft.json.dll into assemble path by runing the flowing command.

Before we can use our assembly, we have to add it to the global assembly cache (GAC). Open the Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt again (for Vista/Windows7/etc. open it as Administrator). And execute the following command. gacutil /i d:\myMethodsForSSIS\myMethodsForSSIS\bin\Release\myMethodsForSSIS.dll

How can I solve the error 'TS2532: Object is possibly 'undefined'?

For others facing a similar problem to mine, where you know a particular object property cannot be null, you can use the non-null assertion operator (!) after the item in question. This was my code:

  const naciStatus = dataToSend.naci?.statusNACI;
  if (typeof naciStatus != "undefined") {
    switch (naciStatus) {
      case "AP":
        dataToSend.naci.certificateStatus = "FALSE";
        break;
      case "AS":
      case "WR":
        dataToSend.naci.certificateStatus = "TRUE";
        break;
      default:
        dataToSend.naci.certificateStatus = "";
    }
  }

And because dataToSend.naci cannot be undefined in the switch statement, the code can be updated to include exclamation marks as follows:

  const naciStatus = dataToSend.naci?.statusNACI;
  if (typeof naciStatus != "undefined") {
    switch (naciStatus) {
      case "AP":
        dataToSend.naci!.certificateStatus = "FALSE";
        break;
      case "AS":
      case "WR":
        dataToSend.naci!.certificateStatus = "TRUE";
        break;
      default:
        dataToSend.naci!.certificateStatus = "";
    }
  }

Can we overload the main method in Java?

Yes According to my point of view, we are able to overload the main method but method overloading that's it. For Example

class main_overload {
    public static void main(int a) {
        System.out.println(a);
    }
    public static void main(String args[]) {
        System.out.println("That's My Main Function");
        main(100);
    }
}

In This Double Back slash Step, I am just calling the main method....

How do I load a PHP file into a variable?

If your file has a return statement like this:

<?php return array(
  'AF' => 'Afeganistão',
  'ZA' => 'África do Sul',
  ...
  'ZW' => 'Zimbabué'
);

You can get this to a variable like this:

$data = include $filePath;

Why can't I use switch statement on a String?

An example of direct String usage since 1.7 may be shown as well:

public static void main(String[] args) {

    switch (args[0]) {
        case "Monday":
        case "Tuesday":
        case "Wednesday":
            System.out.println("boring");
            break;
        case "Thursday":
            System.out.println("getting better");
        case "Friday":
        case "Saturday":
        case "Sunday":
            System.out.println("much better");
            break;
    }

}

redirect_to action_name_resource_path(resource_object_id, param_1: 'value_1', param_2: 'value_2')

or
#if its a collection action like index, you can omit the id as follows
redirect_to action_name_resource_path(param_1: 'value_1', param_2: 'value_2')

#An example with nested resource is as follows:

Style bottom Line in Android

A Simple solution :

Create a drawable file as edittext_stroke.xml in drawable folder. Add the below code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:shape="line"
   >
    <stroke
        android:width="1dp"
        android:color="@android:color/white" >
    </stroke>
</shape>

In layout file , add the drawable to edittext as

android:drawableBottom="@drawable/edittext_stroke"

<EditText
      android:textColor="@android:color/white"
      android:layout_width="match_parent"
      android:layout_height="wrap_content"
      android:drawableBottom="@drawable/edittext_stroke"

How to add a WiX custom action that happens only on uninstall (via MSI)?

I used Custom Action separately coded in C++ DLL and used the DLL to call appropriate function on Uninstalling using this syntax :

<CustomAction Id="Uninstall" BinaryKey="Dll_Name"
              DllEntry="Function_Name" Execute="deferred" />

Using the above code block, I was able to run any function defined in C++ DLL on uninstall. FYI, my uninstall function had code regarding Clearing current user data and registry entries.

'printf' with leading zeros in C

Your format specifier is incorrect. From the printf() man page on my machine:

0 A zero '0' character indicating that zero-padding should be used rather than blank-padding. A '-' overrides a '0' if both are used;

Field Width: An optional digit string specifying a field width; if the output string has fewer characters than the field width it will be blank-padded on the left (or right, if the left-adjustment indicator has been given) to make up the field width (note that a leading zero is a flag, but an embedded zero is part of a field width);

Precision: An optional period, '.', followed by an optional digit string giving a precision which specifies the number of digits to appear after the decimal point, for e and f formats, or the maximum number of characters to be printed from a string; if the digit string is missing, the precision is treated as zero;

For your case, your format would be %09.3f:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
  printf("%09.3f\n", 4917.24);
  return 0;
}

Output:

$ make testapp
cc     testapp.c   -o testapp
$ ./testapp
04917.240

Note that this answer is conditional on your embedded system having a printf() implementation that is standard-compliant for these details - many embedded environments do not have such an implementation.

Add and remove a class on click using jQuery?

Here is an article with live working demo Class Animation In JQuery

You can try this,

$(function () {
   $("#btnSubmit").click(function () {
   $("#btnClass").removeClass("btnDiv").addClass("btn");
   });
});

you can also use switchClass() method - it allows you to animate the transition of adding and removing classes at the same time.

$(function () {
        $("#btnSubmit").click(function () {
            $("#btnClass").switchClass("btn", "btnReset", 1000, "easeInOutQuad");
        });

How to prevent Browser cache for php site

Here, if you want to control it through HTML: do like below Option 1:

<meta http-equiv="expires" content="Sun, 01 Jan 2014 00:00:00 GMT"/>
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" />

And if you want to control it through PHP: do it like below Option 2:

header('Expires: Sun, 01 Jan 2014 00:00:00 GMT');
header('Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate');
header('Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0', FALSE);
header('Pragma: no-cache');

AND Option 2 IS ALWAYS BETTER in order to avoid proxy based caching issue.

BSTR to std::string (std::wstring) and vice versa

Simply pass the BSTR directly to the wstring constructor, it is compatible with a wchar_t*:

BSTR btest = SysAllocString(L"Test");
assert(btest != NULL);
std::wstring wtest(btest);
assert(0 == wcscmp(wtest.c_str(), btest));

Converting BSTR to std::string requires a conversion to char* first. That's lossy since BSTR stores a utf-16 encoded Unicode string. Unless you want to encode in utf-8. You'll find helper methods to do this, as well as manipulate the resulting string, in the ICU library.

Running MSBuild fails to read SDKToolsPath

Short answer: In the .csproj file, there is a way to specify the path to sgen.exe, using SGenToolPath:

<Project DefaultTargets="Build" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="14.0">
  <PropertyGroup>
    <SGenToolPath>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v10.0A\bin\NETFX 4.6 Tools</SGenToolPath>
  </PropertyGroup>

Your path may be different, but SGenToolPath is what you want.

For a list of other common MSBuild Project properties, see: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629394.aspx

We ended up using this SGenToolPath setting in the .csproj file, instead of editing the registry values on the build server. Editing the registry values on my local machine had worked as well, but was a bit more complicated and we didn't want to mess with the registry on the build server.

For the registry: In that case the problem was that the SDK40ToolsPath(s) under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSBuild were pointing to a registry value $(Registry:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\WinSDK-NetFx40Tools-x86@InstallationFolder) which did not exist. I just replaced that with the actual path directly.

How to change webservice url endpoint?

IMO, the provider is telling you to change the service endpoint (i.e. where to reach the web service), not the client endpoint (I don't understand what this could be). To change the service endpoint, you basically have two options.

Use the Binding Provider to set the endpoint URL

The first option is to change the BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY property value of the BindingProvider (every proxy implements javax.xml.ws.BindingProvider interface):

...
EchoService service = new EchoService();
Echo port = service.getEchoPort();

/* Set NEW Endpoint Location */
String endpointURL = "http://NEW_ENDPOINT_URL";
BindingProvider bp = (BindingProvider)port;
bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, endpointURL);

System.out.println("Server said: " + echo.echo(args[0]));
...

The drawback is that this only works when the original WSDL is still accessible. Not recommended.

Use the WSDL to get the endpoint URL

The second option is to get the endpoint URL from the WSDL.

...
URL newEndpoint = new URL("NEW_ENDPOINT_URL");
QName qname = new QName("http://ws.mycompany.tld","EchoService");

EchoService service = new EchoService(newEndpoint, qname);
Echo port = service.getEchoPort();

System.out.println("Server said: " + echo.echo(args[0]));
...

remove all special characters in java

Your problem is that the indices returned by match.start() correspond to the position of the character as it appeared in the original string when you matched it; however, as you rewrite the string c every time, these indices become incorrect.

The best approach to solve this is to use replaceAll, for example:

        System.out.println(c.replaceAll("[^a-zA-Z0-9]", ""));

at last i used "ClickOnce" and it worked fine.

So i believe here also , "CLICKONCE" would help you.

Laravel password validation rule

I have had a similar scenario in Laravel and solved it in the following way.

The password contains characters from at least three of the following five categories:

  • English uppercase characters (A – Z)
  • English lowercase characters (a – z)
  • Base 10 digits (0 – 9)
  • Non-alphanumeric (For example: !, $, #, or %)
  • Unicode characters

First, we need to create a regular expression and validate it.

Your regular expression would look like this:

^.*(?=.{3,})(?=.*[a-zA-Z])(?=.*[0-9])(?=.*[\d\x])(?=.*[!$#%]).*$

I have tested and validated it on this site. Yet, perform your own in your own manner and adjust accordingly. This is only an example of regex, you can manipluated the way you want.

So your final Laravel code should be like this:

'password' => 'required|
               min:6|
               regex:/^.*(?=.{3,})(?=.*[a-zA-Z])(?=.*[0-9])(?=.*[\d\x])(?=.*[!$#%]).*$/|
               confirmed',

Update As @NikK in the comment mentions, in Laravel 5.5 and newer the the password value should encapsulated in array Square brackets like

'password' => ['required',
               'min:6',
               'regex:/^.*(?=.{3,})(?=.*[a-zA-Z])(?=.*[0-9])(?=.*[\d\x])(?=.*[!$#%]).*$/',
               'confirmed']

I have not testing it on Laravel 5.5 so I am trusting @NikK hence I have moved to working with c#/.net these days and have no much time for Laravel.

Note:

  1. I have tested and validated it on both the regular expression site and a Laravel 5 test environment and it works.
  2. I have used min:6, this is optional but it is always a good practice to have a security policy that reflects different aspects, one of which is minimum password length.
  3. I suggest you to use password confirmed to ensure user typing correct password.
  4. Within the 6 characters our regex should contain at least 3 of a-z or A-Z and number and special character.
  5. Always test your code in a test environment before moving to production.
  6. Update: What I have done in this answer is just example of regex password

Change icon-bar (?) color in bootstrap

I do not know if your still looking for the answer to this problem but today I happened the same problem and solved it. You need to specify in the HTML code,

**<Div class = "navbar"**>
         div class = "container">
               <Div class = "navbar-header">

or

**<Div class = "navbar navbar-default">**
        div class = "container">
               <Div class = "navbar-header">

You got that place in your CSS

.navbar-default-toggle .navbar .icon-bar {
  background-color: # 0000ff;
}

and what I did was add above

.navbar .navbar-toggle .icon-bar {
  background-color: # ff0000;
}

Because my html code is

**<Div class = "navbar">**
         div class = "container">
               <Div class = "navbar-header">

and if you associate a file less / css

search this section and also here placed the color you want to change, otherwise it will self-correct the css file to the state it was before

// Toggle Navbar
@ Navbar-default-toggle-hover-bg: #ddd;
**@ Navbar-default-toggle-icon-bar-bg: # 888;**
@ Navbar-default-toggle-border-color: #ddd;

if your html code is like mine and is not navbar-default, add it as you did with the css.

// Toggle Navbar
@ Navbar-default-toggle-hover-bg: #ddd;
**@ Navbar-toggle-icon-bar-bg : #888;**
@ Navbar-default-toggle-icon-bar-bg: # 888;
@ Navbar-default-toggle-border-color: #ddd;

good luck

Setup a Git server with msysgit on Windows

You don't need SSH for sharing git. If you're on a LAN or VPN, you can export a git project as a shared folder, and mount it on a remote machine. Then configure the remote repo using "file://" URLs instead of "git@" URLs. Takes all of 30 seconds. Done!

N x 1:
    Error varies for each point, but the error values are symmetric (i.e. the
    lower and upper values are equal).

2 x N:
    Error varies for each point, and the lower and upper limits (in that order)
    are different (asymmetric case)

Database cluster and load balancing

Database clustering is a bit of an ambiguous term, some vendors consider a cluster having two or more servers share the same storage, some others call a cluster a set of replicated servers.

Replication defines the method by which a set of servers remain synchronized without having to share the storage being able to be geographically disperse, there are two main ways of going about it:

  • master-master (or multi-master) replication: Any server can update the database. It is usually taken care of by a different module within the database (or a whole different software running on top of them in some cases).

    Downside is that it is very hard to do well, and some systems lose ACID properties when in this mode of replication.

    Upside is that it is flexible and you can support the failure of any server while still having the database updated.

  • master-slave replication: There is only a single copy of authoritative data, which is the pushed to the slave servers.

    Downside is that it is less fault tolerant, if the master dies, there are no further changes in the slaves.

    Upside is that it is easier to do than multi-master and it usually preserve ACID properties.

Load balancing is a different concept, it consists distributing the queries sent to those servers so the load is as evenly distributed as possible. It is usually done at the application layer (or with a connection pool). The only direct relation between replication and load balancing is that you need some replication to be able to load balance, else you'd have a single server.

Making href (anchor tag) request POST instead of GET?

To do POST you'll need to have a form.

<form action="employee.action" method="post">

There are some ways to post data with hyperlinks, but you'll need some javascript, and a form.

Some tricks: Make a link use POST instead of GET and How do you post data with a link

Edit: to load response on a frame you can target your form to your frame:

<form action="employee.action" method="post" target="myFrame">

How to create strings containing double quotes in Excel formulas?

I use a function for this (if the workbook already has VBA).

Function Quote(inputText As String) As String
  Quote = Chr(34) & inputText & Chr(34)

How can I turn a List of Lists into a List in Java 8?

You can use flatMap to flatten the internal lists (after converting them to Streams) into a single Stream, and then collect the result into a list:

List<List<Object>> list = ...
List<Object> flat =
    list.stream()
        .flatMap(List::stream)
        .collect(Collectors.toList());

Meaning of = delete after function declaration

The coding standards I've worked with have had the following for most of class declarations.

// coding standard: disallow when not used
T(void)                  = delete; // default ctor    (1)
~T(void)                 = delete; // default dtor    (2)
T(const T&)              = delete; // copy ctor       (3)
T(const T&&)             = delete; // move ctor       (4)
T& operator= (const T&)  = delete; // copy assignment (5)
T& operator= (const T&&) = delete; // move assignment (6)

If you use any of these 6, you simply comment out the corresponding line.

Example: class FizzBus require only dtor, and thus do not use the other 5.

// coding standard: disallow when not used
FizzBuzz(void)                         = delete; // default ctor (1)
// ~FizzBuzz(void);                              // dtor         (2)
FizzBuzz(const FizzBuzz&)              = delete; // copy ctor    (3)
FizzBuzz& operator= (const FizzBuzz&)  = delete; // copy assig   (4)
FizzBuzz(const FizzBuzz&&)             = delete; // move ctor    (5)
FizzBuzz& operator= (const FizzBuzz&&) = delete; // move assign  (6)

We comment out only 1 here, and install the implementation of it else where (probably where the coding standard suggests). The other 5 (of 6) are disallowed with delete.

You can also use '= delete' to disallow implicit promotions of different sized values ... example

// disallow implicit promotions
template <class T> operator T(void)              = delete;
template <class T> Vuint64& operator=  (const T) = delete;
template <class T> Vuint64& operator|= (const T) = delete;
template <class T> Vuint64& operator&= (const T) = delete;

How many characters can you store with 1 byte?

The syntax of TINYINT data type is TINYINT(M),

where M indicates the maximum display width (used only if your MySQL client supports it).

The (m) indicates the column width in SELECT statements; however, it doesn't control the accepted range of numbers for that field.

A TINYINT is an 8-bit integer value, a BIT field can store between 1 bit, BIT(1), and 64 >bits, BIT(64). For a boolean values, BIT(1) is pretty common.

Load text file as strings using numpy.loadtxt()

Is it essential that you need a NumPy array? Otherwise you could speed things up by loading the data as a nested list.

def load(fname):
    ''' Load the file using std open'''
    f = open(fname,'r')

    data = []
    for line in f.readlines():
        data.append(line.replace('\n','').split(' '))

    f.close()

    return data

For a text file with 4000x4000 words this is about 10 times faster than loadtxt.

How do you convert WSDLs to Java classes using Eclipse?

Using command prompt in windows you can use below command to get class files.

wsimport "complete file path of your .wsdl file"
example : wsimport C:\Users\schemas\com\myprofile\myprofile2019.wsdl

if you want to generate source code you should be using below commnad.

wsimport -keep -s src "complete file path of your .wsdl file"
example : wsimport -keep -s src C:\Users\schemas\com\myprofile\myprofile2019.wsdl

Note : Here "-s" means source directory and "src" is name of folder that should be created before executing this command. Wsimport is a tool which is bundled along with JAVA SE, no seperate download is required.

How to Install Sublime Text 3 using Homebrew

How to un-commit last un-pushed git commit without losing the changes

There are a lot of ways to do so, for example:

in case you have not pushed the commit publicly yet:

git reset HEAD~1 --soft

That's it, your commit changes will be in your working directory, whereas the LAST commit will be removed from your current branch. See git reset man

In case you did push publicly (on a branch called 'master'):

git checkout -b MyCommit //save your commit in a separate branch just in case (so you don't have to dig it from reflog in case you screw up :) )

revert commit normally and push

git checkout master
git revert a8172f36 #hash of the commit you want to destroy
# this introduces a new commit (say, it's hash is 86b48ba) which removes changes, introduced in the commit in question (but those changes are still visible in the history)
git push origin master

now if you want to have those changes as you local changes in your working copy ("so that your local copy keeps the changes made in that commit") - just revert the revert commit with --no-commit option:

git revert --no-commit 86b48ba (hash of the revert commit).

I've crafted a small example: https://github.com/Isantipov/git-revert/commits/master

Example JavaScript code to parse CSV data

Just use .split(','):

var str = "How are you doing today?";
var n = str.split(" ");

How do I make a branch point at a specific commit?

If you are currently not on branch master, that's super easy:

git branch -f master 1258f0d0aae

This does exactly what you want: It points master at the given commit, and does nothing else.

If you are currently on master, you need to get into detached head state first. I'd recommend the following two command sequence:

git checkout 1258f0d0aae #detach from master
git branch -f master HEAD #exactly as above

#optionally reattach to master
git checkout master

Be aware, though, that any explicit manipulation of where a branch points has the potential to leave behind commits that are no longer reachable by any branches, and thus become object to garbage collection. So, think before you type git branch -f!

This method is better than the git reset --hard approach, as it does not destroy anything in the index or working directory.

Is JavaScript's "new" keyword considered harmful?

Case 1: new isn't required and should be avoided

var str = new String('asd'); // type: object
var str = String('asd');      // type: string

var num = new Number(12); // type: object
var num = Number(12);         // type: number

Case 2: new is required, otherwise you'll get an error

new Date().getFullYear(); // correct, returns the current year, i.e. 2010
Date().getFullYear(); // invalid, returns an error

pandas loc vs. iloc vs. at vs. iat?

loc: only work on index
iloc: work on position
at: get scalar values. It's a very fast loc
iat: Get scalar values. It's a very fast iloc

Also,

at and iat are meant to access a scalar, that is, a single element in the dataframe, while loc and iloc are ments to access several elements at the same time, potentially to perform vectorized operations.

how to generate public key from windows command prompt

Just download and install openSSH for windows. It is open source, and it makes your cmd ssh ready. A quick google search will give you a tutorial on how to install it, should you need it.

After it is installed you can just go ahead and generate your public key if you want to put in on a server. You generate it by running:

ssh-keygen -t rsa

After that you can just can just press enter, it will automatically assign a name for the key (example: id_rsa.pub)

How to debug Google Apps Script (aka where does Logger.log log to?)

If you have the script editor open you will see the logs under View->Logs. If your script has an onedit trigger, make a change to the spreadsheet which should trigger the function with the script editor opened in a second tab. Then go to the script editor tab and open the log. You will see whatever your function passes to the logger.

Basically as long as the script editor is open, the event will write to the log and show it for you. It will not show if someone else is in the file elsewhere.

How to resolve Value cannot be null. Parameter name: source in linq?

System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value

This error message is not very helpful!

You can get this error in many different ways. The error may not always be with the parameter name: value. It could be whatever parameter name is being passed into a function.

As a generic way to solve this, look at the stack trace or call stack:

Test method GetApiModel threw exception:
System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: value
    at Newtonsoft.Json.JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(String value, Type type, JsonSerializerSettings settings)

You can see that the parameter name value is the first parameter for DeserializeObject. This lead me to check my AutoMapper mapping where we are deserializing a JSON string. That string is null in my database.

You can change the code to check for null.

Cause of No suitable driver found for

The way I ended up solving my problem was to forgo using java.sql.DriverManager to get a connection and instead built up an instance of org.hsqldb.jdbc.jdbcDataSource and used that.

The root cause of my problem (I believe) had to do with the classloader hierarchy and the fact that the JRE was running Java 5. Even though I could successfully load the jdbcDriver class, the classloader behind java.sql.DriverManager was higher up, to the point that it couldn't see the hsqldb.jar I needed.

Anyway, just putting this note here in case someone else stumbles by with a similar problem.

Your project path contains non-ASCII characters android studio

If you face with the problem at the first time installing Android Studio on your computer.

  1. mklink /D "c:\Android-Sdk" "C:\Users\ **YOUR-USERNAME** \AppData\Local\Android\sdk"

  2. Go to "C:\Users\ YOUR-USERNAME \AppData\Local\" path and create Android\sdk folders inside it.

  3. After that you can continue installation.

How do I use $rootScope in Angular to store variables?

There are multiple ways to achieve this one:-

1. Add $rootScope in .run method

.run(function ($rootScope) {
    $rootScope.name = "Peter";
});

// Controller
.controller('myController', function ($scope,$rootScope) {
    console.log("Name in rootscope ",$rootScope.name);
    OR
    console.log("Name in scope ",$scope.name);
});

2. Create one service and access it in both the controllers.

.factory('myFactory', function () {
     var object = {};

     object.users = ['John', 'James', 'Jake'];

     return object;
})
// Controller A

.controller('ControllerA', function (myFactory) {
    console.log("In controller A ", myFactory);
})

// Controller B

.controller('ControllerB', function (myFactory) {
    console.log("In controller B ", myFactory);
})

Find files in a folder using Java

I know, this is an old question. But just for the sake of completeness, the lambda version.

Requests -- how to tell if you're getting a 404

Look at the r.status_code attribute:

if r.status_code == 404:
    # A 404 was issued.

Demo:

>>> import requests
>>> r = requests.get('http://httpbin.org/status/404')
>>> r.status_code
404

If you want requests to raise an exception for error codes (4xx or 5xx), call r.raise_for_status():

>>> r = requests.get('http://httpbin.org/status/404')
>>> r.raise_for_status()
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
  File "requests/models.py", line 664, in raise_for_status
    raise http_error
requests.exceptions.HTTPError: 404 Client Error: NOT FOUND
>>> r = requests.get('http://httpbin.org/status/200')
>>> r.raise_for_status()
>>> # no exception raised.

You can also test the response object in a boolean context; if the status code is not an error code (4xx or 5xx), it is considered ‘true’:

if r:
    # successful response

If you want to be more explicit, use if r.ok:.

Github permission denied: ssh add agent has no identities

I have been stucked a while on the same problem, which I eventually resolved.

My problem: I could not execute any push. I could check & see my remote (using git remote -v), but when I executed git push origin master, it returned : Permission denied (publickey). fatal: Could not read from remote repository. and so.

How I solved it :

  • I generated a key using ssh-keygen -t rsa. Entering a name for the key file (when asked) was useless.
  • I could then add the key (to git): ssh-add /Users/federico/.ssh/id_rsa , which successfully returned Identity added: /Users/myname/.ssh/id_rsa (/Users/myname/.ssh/id_rsa)
  • I added the SSH key to github using this help page.
  • Having tried all the commands in Github's 'Permission denied publickey' help page, only the ssh-add -l command worked / seemed useful (after having ran the previous steps), it successfully returned my key. The last step shows you where to check your public key on your GitHub page. And this command will help you check all your keys : ls -al ~/.ssh.

Then the push command eventually worked !

I hope this will help ! Best luck to all.

How do I dump the data of some SQLite3 tables?

You're not saying what you wish to do with the dumped file.

I would use the following to get a CSV file, which I can import into almost everything

.mode csv
-- use '.separator SOME_STRING' for something other than a comma.
.headers on
.out file.csv
select * from MyTable;

If you want to reinsert into a different SQLite database then:

.mode insert <target_table_name>
.out file.sql
select * from MyTable;

onSaveInstanceState () and onRestoreInstanceState ()

I can do like that (sorry it's c# not java but it's not a problem...) :

private int iValue = 1234567890;

function void MyTest()
{
    Intent oIntent = new Intent (this, typeof(Camera2Activity));
    Bundle oBundle = new Bundle();
    oBundle.PutInt("MYVALUE", iValue); //=> 1234567890
    oIntent.PutExtras (oBundle);
    iRequestCode = 1111;
    StartActivityForResult (oIntent, 1111);
}

AND IN YOUR ACTIVITY FOR RESULT

private int iValue = 0;

protected override void OnCreate(Bundle bundle)
{
    Bundle oBundle =  Intent.Extras;
    if (oBundle != null)
    {
        iValue = oBundle.GetInt("MYVALUE", 0);
        //=>1234567890
    }
}

private void FinishActivity(bool bResult)
{
    Intent oIntent = new Intent();
    Bundle oBundle = new Bundle();
    oBundle.PutInt("MYVALUE", iValue);//=>1234567890
    oIntent.PutExtras(oBundle);
    if (bResult)
        {
            SetResult (Result.Ok, oIntent);
        }
    else
        SetResult(Result.Canceled, oIntent);
    GC.Collect();
    Finish();
}

FINALLY

protected override void OnActivityResult(int iRequestCode, Android.App.Result oResultCode, Intent oIntent)
{
    base.OnActivityResult (iRequestCode, oResultCode, oIntent);
    iValue = oIntent.Extras.GetInt("MYVALUE", -1); //=> 1234567890

Check if file exists and whether it contains a specific string

Instead of storing the output of grep in a variable and then checking whether the variable is empty, you can do this:

if grep -q "poet" $file_name
then
    echo "poet was found in $file_name"

============

Here are some commonly used tests:

   -d FILE
          FILE exists and is a directory
   -e FILE
          FILE exists
   -f FILE
          FILE exists and is a regular file
   -h FILE
          FILE exists and is a symbolic link (same as -L)
   -r FILE
          FILE exists and is readable
   -s FILE
          FILE exists and has a size greater than zero
   -w FILE
          FILE exists and is writable
   -x FILE
          FILE exists and is executable
   -z STRING
          the length of STRING is zero

Example:

if [ -e "$file_name" ] && [ ! -z "$used_var" ]
then
    echo "$file_name exists and $used_var is not empty"

How to check if a string contains a specific text

If you need to know if a word exists in a string you can use this. As it is not clear from your question if you just want to know if the variable is a string or not. Where 'word' is the word you are searching in the string.

if (strpos($a,'word') !== false) {
echo 'true';
}

or use the is_string method. Whichs returns true or false on the given variable.

<?php
$a = '';
is_string($a);
?>

Setting CSS pseudo-class rules from JavaScript

I threw together a small library for this since I do think there are valid use cases for manipulating stylesheets in JS. Reasons being:

  • Setting styles that must be calculated or retrieved - for example setting the user's preferred font-size from a cookie.
  • Setting behavioural (not aesthetic) styles, especially for UI widget/plugin developers. Tabs, carousels, etc, often require some basic CSS simply to function - shouldn't demand a stylesheet for the core function.
  • Better than inline styles since CSS rules apply to all current and future elements, and don't clutter the HTML when viewing in Firebug / Developer Tools.

What is the difference between canonical name, simple name and class name in Java Class?

It is interesting to note that getCanonicalName() and getSimpleName() can raise InternalError when the class name is malformed. This happens for some non-Java JVM languages, e.g., Scala.

Consider the following (Scala 2.11 on Java 8):

scala> case class C()
defined class C

scala> val c = C()
c: C = C()

scala> c.getClass.getSimpleName
java.lang.InternalError: Malformed class name
  at java.lang.Class.getSimpleName(Class.java:1330)
  ... 32 elided

scala> c.getClass.getCanonicalName
java.lang.InternalError: Malformed class name
  at java.lang.Class.getSimpleName(Class.java:1330)
  at java.lang.Class.getCanonicalName(Class.java:1399)
  ... 32 elided

scala> c.getClass.getName
res2: String = C

This can be a problem for mixed language environments or environments that dynamically load bytecode, e.g., app servers and other platform software.

Make 2 functions run at the same time

The thread module does work simultaneously unlike multiprocess, but the timing is a bit off. The code below prints a "1" and a "2". These are called by different functions respectively. I did notice that when printed to the console, they would have slightly different timings.

from threading import Thread

def one():
    while(1 == num):
        print("1")
        time.sleep(2)

def two():
    while(1 == num):
        print("2")
        time.sleep(2)

p1 = Thread(target = one)
p2 = Thread(target = two)

p1.start()
p2.start()

Output: (Note the space is for the wait in between printing)

1
2

2
1

12

21

12

1
2

Not sure if there is a way to correct this, or if it matters at all. Just something I noticed.

Sorting string array in C#

            string[] testArray = new string[]
            {
                "aa",
                "ab",
                "ac",
                "ad",
                "ab",
                "af"
            };

            Array.Sort(testArray, StringComparer.InvariantCulture);

            Array.ForEach(testArray, x => Console.WriteLine(x));
        }

Django CSRF check failing with an Ajax POST request

Real solution

Ok, I managed to trace the problem down. It lies in the Javascript (as I suggested below) code.

What you need is this:

$.ajaxSetup({
     beforeSend: function(xhr, settings) {
         function getCookie(name) {
             var cookieValue = null;
             if (document.cookie && document.cookie != '') {
                 var cookies = document.cookie.split(';');
                 for (var i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
                     var cookie = jQuery.trim(cookies[i]);
                     // Does this cookie string begin with the name we want?
                     if (cookie.substring(0, name.length + 1) == (name + '=')) {
                         cookieValue = decodeURIComponent(cookie.substring(name.length + 1));
                         break;
                     }
                 }
             }
             return cookieValue;
         }
         if (!(/^http:.*/.test(settings.url) || /^https:.*/.test(settings.url))) {
             // Only send the token to relative URLs i.e. locally.
             xhr.setRequestHeader("X-CSRFToken", getCookie('csrftoken'));
         }
     }
});

instead of the code posted in the official docs: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/ref/csrf/

The working code, comes from this Django entry: http://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2011/feb/08/security/

So the general solution is: "use ajaxSetup handler instead of ajaxSend handler". I don't know why it works. But it works for me :)

Previous post (without answer)

I'm experiencing the same problem actually.

It occurs after updating to Django 1.2.5 - there were no errors with AJAX POST requests in Django 1.2.4 (AJAX wasn't protected in any way, but it worked just fine).

Just like OP, I have tried the JavaScript snippet posted in Django documentation. I'm using jQuery 1.5. I'm also using the "django.middleware.csrf.CsrfViewMiddleware" middleware.

I tried to follow the the middleware code and I know that it fails on this:

request_csrf_token = request.META.get('HTTP_X_CSRFTOKEN', '')

and then

if request_csrf_token != csrf_token:
    return self._reject(request, REASON_BAD_TOKEN)

this "if" is true, because "request_csrf_token" is empty.

Basically it means that the header is NOT set. So is there anything wrong with this JS line:

xhr.setRequestHeader("X-CSRFToken", getCookie('csrftoken'));

?

I hope that provided details will help us in resolving the issue :)

Use of #pragma in C

I would generally try to avoid the use of #pragmas if possible, since they're extremely compiler-dependent and non-portable. If you want to use them in a portable fashion, you'll have to surround every pragma with a #if/#endif pair. GCC discourages the use of pragmas, and really only supports some of them for compatibility with other compilers; GCC has other ways of doing the same things that other compilers use pragmas for.

For example, here's how you'd ensure that a structure is packed tightly (i.e. no padding between members) in MSVC:

#pragma pack(push, 1)
struct PackedStructure
{
  char a;
  int b;
  short c;
};
#pragma pack(pop)
// sizeof(PackedStructure) == 7

Here's how you'd do the same thing in GCC:

struct PackedStructure __attribute__((__packed__))
{
  char a;
  int b;
  short c;
};
// sizeof(PackedStructure == 7)

The GCC code is more portable, because if you want to compile that with a non-GCC compiler, all you have to do is

#define __attribute__(x)

Whereas if you want to port the MSVC code, you have to surround each pragma with a #if/#endif pair. Not pretty.

How to launch PowerShell (not a script) from the command line

If you go to C:\Windows\system32\Windowspowershell\v1.0 (and C:\Windows\syswow64\Windowspowershell\v1.0 on x64 machines) in Windows Explorer and double-click powershell.exe you will see that it opens PowerShell with a black background. The PowerShell console shows up as blue when opened from the start menu because the console properties for shortcuts to powershell.exe can be set independently from the default properties.

To set the default options, font, colors and layout, open a PowerShell console, type Alt-Space, and select the Defaults menu option.

Running start powershell from cmd.exe should start a new console with your default settings.

Pivoting rows into columns dynamically in Oracle

First of all, dynamically pivot using pivot xml again needs to be parsed. We have another way of doing this by storing the column names in a variable and passing them in the dynamic sql as below.

Consider we have a table like below.

enter image description here

If we need to show the values in the column YR as column names and the values in those columns from QTY, then we can use the below code.

declare
  sqlqry clob;
  cols clob;
begin
  select listagg('''' || YR || ''' as "' || YR || '"', ',') within group (order by YR)
  into   cols
  from   (select distinct YR from EMPLOYEE);

  sqlqry :=
  '
  select * from
  (
      select *
      from EMPLOYEE
  )
  pivot
  (
    MIN(QTY) for YR in (' || cols  || ')
  )';

  execute immediate sqlqry;
end;
/

How to show data in a table by using psql command line interface?

Newer versions: (from 8.4 - mentioned in release notes)

TABLE mytablename;

Longer but works on all versions:

SELECT * FROM mytablename;

You may wish to use \x first if it's a wide table, for readability.

For long data:

SELECT * FROM mytable LIMIT 10;

or similar.

For wide data (big rows), in the psql command line client, it's useful to use \x to show the rows in key/value form instead of tabulated, e.g.

 \x
SELECT * FROM mytable LIMIT 10;

Note that in all cases the semicolon at the end is important.

What is the difference between HAVING and WHERE in SQL?

HAVING: is used to check conditions after the aggregation takes place.
WHERE: is used to check conditions before the aggregation takes place.

This code:

select City, CNT=Count(1)
From Address
Where State = 'MA'
Group By City

Gives you a table of all cities in MA and the number of addresses in each city.

This code:

select City, CNT=Count(1)
From Address
Where State = 'MA'
Group By City
Having Count(1)>5

Gives you a table of cities in MA with more than 5 addresses and the number of addresses in each city.

Oracle SQL - select within a select (on the same table!)

This is something I'd use the LAG function for:

SELECT eh.gc_staff_number,
       eh.start_date,
       LAG(eh.end_date) OVER (PARTITION BY eh.gc_staff_number
                                  ORDER BY eh.end_date) AS prev_end_date
  FROM EMPLOYMENT_HISTORY eh
 WHERE eh.current_flag = 'Y'

If you wanted to peek a row ahead, you'd use the LEAD function.

Compatibility:

To my knowledge, this is supported 9i+ but I haven't confirmed that 8i is supported like the documentation claims.

LEAD and LAG are finally ANSI, but only Oracle and PostgreSQL v8.4+ support them currently.

How can I get the name of an object in Python?

Generally when you are wanting to do something like this, you create a class to hold all of these functions and name them with some clear prefix cmd_ or the like. You then take the string from the command, and try to get that attribute from the class with the cmd_ prefixed to it. Now you only need to add a new function/method to the class, and it's available to your callers. And you can use the doc strings for automatically creating the help text.

As described in other answers, you may be able to do the same approach with globals() and regular functions in your module to more closely match what you asked for.

Something like this:

class Tasks:
    def cmd_doit(self):
        # do it here

func_name = parse_commandline()
try:
    func = getattr('cmd_' + func_name, Tasks())
except AttributeError:
    # bad command: exit or whatever
func()

What is the most efficient/quickest way to loop through rows in VBA (excel)?

If you are just looping through 10k rows in column A, then dump the row into a variant array and then loop through that.

You can then either add the elements to a new array (while adding rows when needed) and using Transpose() to put the array onto your range in one move, or you can use your iterator variable to track which row you are on and add rows that way.

Dim i As Long
Dim varray As Variant

varray = Range("A2:A" & Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row).Value

For i = 1 To UBound(varray, 1)
    ' do stuff to varray(i, 1)
Next

Here is an example of how you could add rows after evaluating each cell. This example just inserts a row after every row that has the word "foo" in column A. Not that the "+2" is added to the variable i during the insert since we are starting on A2. It would be +1 if we were starting our array with A1.

Sub test()

Dim varray As Variant
Dim i As Long

varray = Range("A2:A10").Value

'must step back or it'll be infinite loop
For i = UBound(varray, 1) To LBound(varray, 1) Step -1
    'do your logic and evaluation here
    If varray(i, 1) = "foo" Then
       'not how to offset the i variable
       Range("A" & i + 2).EntireRow.Insert
    End If
Next

End Sub

C# Iterating through an enum? (Indexing a System.Array)

How about a dictionary list?

Dictionary<string, int> list = new Dictionary<string, int>();
foreach( var item in Enum.GetNames(typeof(MyEnum)) )
{
    list.Add(item, (int)Enum.Parse(typeof(MyEnum), item));
}

and of course you can change the dictionary value type to whatever your enum values are.

No Network Security Config specified, using platform default - Android Log

I have a same problem, with volley, but this is my solution:

  1. In Android Manifiest, in tag application add:

    android:usesCleartextTraffic="true"
    android:networkSecurityConfig="@xml/network_security_config"

  2. create in folder xml this file network_security_config.xml and write this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
      <network-security-config>
        <base-config cleartextTrafficPermitted="true" />
      </network-security-config>

  3. inside tag application add this tag:

    <uses-library android:name="org.apache.http.legacy" android:required="false"/>

Does C# have extension properties?

No they do not exist in C# 3.0 and will not be added in 4.0. It's on the list of feature wants for C# so it may be added at a future date.

At this point the best you can do is GetXXX style extension methods.

Why can't Python find shared objects that are in directories in sys.path?

You can also set LD_RUN_PATH to /usr/local/lib in your user environment when you compile pycurl in the first place. This will embed /usr/local/lib in the RPATH attribute of the C extension module .so so that it automatically knows where to find the library at run time without having to have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set at run time.

try doing var_dump($_GLOBALS).

A potential cause could be that there is a script running before yours which unsets the global variables. Such as:

"Input string was not in a correct format."

I ran into this exact exception, except it had nothing to do with parsing numerical inputs. So this isn't an answer to the OP's question, but I think it's acceptable to share the knowledge.

I'd declared a string and was formatting it for use with JQTree which requires curly braces ({}). You have to use doubled curly braces for it to be accepted as a properly formatted string:

string measurements = string.empty;
measurements += string.Format(@"
    {{label: 'Measurement Name: {0}',
        children: [
            {{label: 'Measured Value: {1}'}},
            {{label: 'Min: {2}'}},
            {{label: 'Max: {3}'}},
            {{label: 'Measured String: {4}'}},
            {{label: 'Expected String: {5}'}},
        ]
    }},",
    drv["MeasurementName"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["MeasurementName"],
    drv["MeasuredValue"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["MeasuredValue"],
    drv["Min"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["Min"],
    drv["Max"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["Max"],
    drv["MeasuredString"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["MeasuredString"],
    drv["ExpectedString"] == null ? "NULL" : drv["ExpectedString"]);

Hopefully this will help other folks who find this question but aren't parsing numerical data.

Is the buildSessionFactory() Configuration method deprecated in Hibernate

Yes it is deprecated. Replace your SessionFactory with the following:

In Hibernate 4.0, 4.1, 4.2

private static SessionFactory sessionFactory;
private static ServiceRegistry serviceRegistry;

public static SessionFactory createSessionFactory() {
    Configuration configuration = new Configuration();
    configuration.configure();
    ServiceRegistry serviceRegistry = new ServiceRegistryBuilder().applySettings(
            configuration.getProperties()). buildServiceRegistry();
    sessionFactory = configuration.buildSessionFactory(serviceRegistry);
    return sessionFactory;
}

UPDATE:

In Hibernate 4.3 ServiceRegistryBuilder is deprecated. Use the following instead.

serviceRegistry = new StandardServiceRegistryBuilder().applySettings(
            configuration.getProperties()).build();

Error: unable to verify the first certificate in nodejs

unable to verify the first certificate

The certificate chain is incomplete.

It means that the webserver you are connecting to is misconfigured and did not include the intermediate certificate in the certificate chain it sent to you.

Certificate chain

It most likely looks as follows:

  1. Server certificate - stores a certificate signed by intermediate.
  2. Intermediate certificate - stores a certificate signed by root.
  3. Root certificate - stores a self-signed certificate.

Intermediate certificate should be installed on the server, along with the server certificate.
Root certificates are embedded into the software applications, browsers and operating systems.

The application serving the certificate has to send the complete chain, this means the server certificate itself and all the intermediates. The root certificate is supposed to be known by the client.

Recreate the problem

Go to https://incomplete-chain.badssl.com using your browser.

It doesn't show any error (padlock in the address bar is green).
It's because browsers tend to complete the chain if it’s not sent from the server.

Now, connect to https://incomplete-chain.badssl.com using Node:

// index.js
const axios = require('axios');

axios.get('https://incomplete-chain.badssl.com')
  .then(function (response) {
    console.log(response);
  })
  .catch(function (error) {
    console.log(error);
  });

Logs: "Error: unable to verify the first certificate".

Solution

You need to complete the certificate chain yourself.

To do that:

1: You need to get the missing intermediate certificate in .pem format, then

2a: extend Node’s built-in certificate store using NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS,

2b: or pass your own certificate bundle (intermediates and root) using ca option.

1. How do I get intermediate certificate?

Using openssl (comes with Git for Windows).

Save the remote server's certificate details:

openssl s_client -connect incomplete-chain.badssl.com:443 -servername incomplete-chain.badssl.com | tee logcertfile

We're looking for the issuer (the intermediate certificate is the issuer / signer of the server certificate):

openssl x509 -in logcertfile -noout -text | grep -i "issuer"

It should give you URI of the signing certificate. Download it:

curl --output intermediate.crt http://cacerts.digicert.com/DigiCertSHA2SecureServerCA.crt

Finally, convert it to .pem:

openssl x509 -inform DER -in intermediate.crt -out intermediate.pem -text

2a. NODE_EXTRA_CERTS

I'm using cross-env to set environment variables in package.json file:

"start": "cross-env NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS=\"C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Desktop\\ssl-connect\\intermediate.pem\" node index.js"

2b. ca option

This option is going to overwrite the Node's built-in root CAs.

That's why we need to create our own root CA. Use ssl-root-cas.

Then, create a custom https agent configured with our certificate bundle (root and intermediate). Pass this agent to axios when making request.

// index.js
const axios = require('axios');
const path = require('path');
const https = require('https');
const rootCas = require('ssl-root-cas').create();

rootCas.addFile(path.resolve(__dirname, 'intermediate.pem'));
const httpsAgent = new https.Agent({ca: rootCas});

axios.get('https://incomplete-chain.badssl.com', { httpsAgent })
  .then(function (response) {
    console.log(response);
  })
  .catch(function (error) {
    console.log(error);
  });

Instead of creating a custom https agent and passing it to axios, you can place the certifcates on the https global agent:

// Applies to ALL requests (whether using https directly or the request module)
https.globalAgent.options.ca = rootCas;

Update with two tables?

Your query does not work because you have no FROM clause that specifies the tables you are aliasing via A/B.

Please try using the following:

UPDATE A
    SET A.NAME = B.NAME
FROM TableNameA A, TableNameB B
WHERE A.ID = B.ID

Personally I prefer to use more explicit join syntax for clarity i.e.

UPDATE A
    SET A.NAME = B.NAME
FROM TableNameA A
    INNER JOIN TableName B ON
        A.ID = B.ID

Copying one structure to another

In C, memcpy is only foolishly risky. As long as you get all three parameters exactly right, none of the struct members are pointers (or, you explicitly intend to do a shallow copy) and there aren't large alignment gaps in the struct that memcpy is going to waste time looping through (or performance never matters), then by all means, memcpy. You gain nothing except code that is harder to read, fragile to future changes and has to be hand-verified in code reviews (because the compiler can't), but hey yeah sure why not.

In C++, we advance to the ludicrously risky. You may have members of types which are not safely memcpyable, like std::string, which will cause your receiving struct to become a dangerous weapon, randomly corrupting memory whenever used. You may get surprises involving virtual functions when emulating slice-copies. The optimizer, which can do wondrous things for you because it has a guarantee of full type knowledge when it compiles =, can do nothing for your memcpy call.

In C++ there's a rule of thumb - if you see memcpy or memset, something's wrong. There are rare cases when this is not true, but they do not involve structs. You use memcpy when, and only when, you have reason to blindly copy bytes.

Assignment on the other hand is simple to read, checks correctness at compile time and then intelligently moves values at runtime. There is no downside.

SQL JOIN and different types of JOINs

Definition:

JOINS are way to query the data that combined together from multiple tables simultaneously.

Types of JOINS:

Concern to RDBMS there are 5-types of joins:

  • Equi-Join: Combines common records from two tables based on equality condition. Technically, Join made by using equality-operator (=) to compare values of Primary Key of one table and Foreign Key values of another table, hence result set includes common(matched) records from both tables. For implementation see INNER-JOIN.

  • Natural-Join: It is enhanced version of Equi-Join, in which SELECT operation omits duplicate column. For implementation see INNER-JOIN

  • Non-Equi-Join: It is reverse of Equi-join where joining condition is uses other than equal operator(=) e.g, !=, <=, >=, >, < or BETWEEN etc. For implementation see INNER-JOIN.

  • Self-Join:: A customized behavior of join where a table combined with itself; This is typically needed for querying self-referencing tables (or Unary relationship entity). For implementation see INNER-JOINs.

  • Cartesian Product: It cross combines all records of both tables without any condition. Technically, it returns the result set of a query without WHERE-Clause.

As per SQL concern and advancement, there are 3-types of joins and all RDBMS joins can be achieved using these types of joins.

  1. INNER-JOIN: It merges(or combines) matched rows from two tables. The matching is done based on common columns of tables and their comparing operation. If equality based condition then: EQUI-JOIN performed, otherwise Non-EQUI-Join.

  2. OUTER-JOIN: It merges(or combines) matched rows from two tables and unmatched rows with NULL values. However, can customized selection of un-matched rows e.g, selecting unmatched row from first table or second table by sub-types: LEFT OUTER JOIN and RIGHT OUTER JOIN.

    2.1. LEFT Outer JOIN (a.k.a, LEFT-JOIN): Returns matched rows from two tables and unmatched from the LEFT table(i.e, first table) only.

    2.2. RIGHT Outer JOIN (a.k.a, RIGHT-JOIN): Returns matched rows from two tables and unmatched from the RIGHT table only.

    2.3. FULL OUTER JOIN (a.k.a OUTER JOIN): Returns matched and unmatched from both tables.

  3. CROSS-JOIN: This join does not merges/combines instead it performs Cartesian product.

enter image description here Note: Self-JOIN can be achieved by either INNER-JOIN, OUTER-JOIN and CROSS-JOIN based on requirement but the table must join with itself.

For more information:

Examples:

1.1: INNER-JOIN: Equi-join implementation

SELECT  *
FROM Table1 A
 INNER JOIN Table2 B ON A.<Primary-Key> =B.<Foreign-Key>;

1.2: INNER-JOIN: Natural-JOIN implementation

Select A.*, B.Col1, B.Col2          --But no B.ForeignKeyColumn in Select
 FROM Table1 A
 INNER JOIN Table2 B On A.Pk = B.Fk;

1.3: INNER-JOIN with NON-Equi-join implementation

Select *
 FROM Table1 A INNER JOIN Table2 B On A.Pk <= B.Fk;

1.4: INNER-JOIN with SELF-JOIN

Select *
 FROM Table1 A1 INNER JOIN Table1 A2 On A1.Pk = A2.Fk;

2.1: OUTER JOIN (full outer join)

Select *
 FROM Table1 A FULL OUTER JOIN Table2 B On A.Pk = B.Fk;

2.2: LEFT JOIN

Select *
 FROM Table1 A LEFT OUTER JOIN Table2 B On A.Pk = B.Fk;

2.3: RIGHT JOIN

Select *
 FROM Table1 A RIGHT OUTER JOIN Table2 B On A.Pk = B.Fk;

3.1: CROSS JOIN

Select *
 FROM TableA CROSS JOIN TableB;

3.2: CROSS JOIN-Self JOIN

Select *
 FROM Table1 A1 CROSS JOIN Table1 A2;

//OR//

Select *
 FROM Table1 A1,Table1 A2;

Why can't decimal numbers be represented exactly in binary?

It's the same reason you cannot represent 1/3 exactly in base 10, you need to say 0.33333(3). In binary it is the same type of problem but just occurs for different set of numbers.

c++ string array initialization

In C++11 and above, you can also initialize std::vector with an initializer list. For example:

using namespace std; // for example only

for (auto s : vector<string>{"one","two","three"} )
    cout << s << endl;

So, your example would become:

void foo(vector<string> strArray){
  // some code
}

vector<string> s {"hi", "there"}; // Works
foo(s); // Works

foo(vector<string> {"hi", "there"}); // also works

How to append to a file in Node?

Using jfile package :

myFile.text+='\nThis is new line to be appended'; //myFile=new JFile(path);

What exactly are DLL files, and how do they work?

What is a DLL?

DLL files are binary files that can contain executable code and resources like images, etc. Unlike applications, these cannot be directly executed, but an application will load them as and when they are required (or all at once during startup).

Are they important?

Most applications will load the DLL files they require at startup. If any of these are not found the system will not be able to start the process at all.

DLL files might require other DLL files

In the same way that an application requires a DLL file, a DLL file might be dependent on other DLL files itself. If one of these DLL files in the chain of dependency is not found, the application will not load. This is debugged easily using any dependency walker tools, like Dependency Walker.

There are so many of them in the system folders

Most of the system functionality is exposed to a user program in the form of DLL files as they are a standard form of sharing code / resources. Each functionality is kept separately in different DLL files so that only the required DLL files will be loaded and thus reduce the memory constraints on the system.

Installed applications also use DLL files

DLL files also becomes a form of separating functionalities physically as explained above. Good applications also try to not load the DLL files until they are absolutely required, which reduces the memory requirements. This too causes applications to ship with a lot of DLL files.

DLL Hell

However, at times system upgrades often breaks other programs when there is a version mismatch between the shared DLL files and the program that requires them. System checkpoints and DLL cache, etc. have been the initiatives from M$ to solve this problem. The .NET platform might not face this issue at all.

How do we know what's inside a DLL file?

You have to use an external tool like DUMPBIN or Dependency Walker which will not only show what publicly visible functions (known as exports) are contained inside the DLL files and also what other DLL files it requires and which exports from those DLL files this DLL file is dependent upon.

How do we create / use them?

Refer the programming documentation from your vendor. For C++, refer to LoadLibrary in MSDN.

Delete from two tables in one query

You should either create a FOREIGN KEY with ON DELETE CASCADE:

ALTER TABLE usersmessages
ADD CONSTRAINT fk_usermessages_messageid
FOREIGN KEY (messageid)
REFERENCES messages (messageid)
ON DELETE CASCADE

, or do it using two queries in a transaction:

START TRANSACTION;;

DELETE
FROM    usermessages
WHERE   messageid = 1

DELETE
FROM    messages
WHERE   messageid = 1;

COMMIT;

Transaction affects only InnoDB tables, though.
