Programs & Examples On #Package

Package broadly refers to two things: 1) a usable unit/component of built/compiled of software, or 2) a partition of the global namespace (java).

Unable to Install Any Package in Visual Studio 2015

I was able to resolve this issue by reinstalling Nuget Package Manager via Tools -> Extensions and Updates

How to unload a package without restarting R

Note also that you can only use unload() once. If you use it a second time without rerunning library(), y'll get the not very informative error message invalid 'name' argument:

How to clean node_modules folder of packages that are not in package.json?

Due to its folder nesting Windows can’t delete the folder as its name is too long. To solve this, install RimRaf:

npm install rimraf -g

rimraf node_modules

Are there best practices for (Java) package organization?

I organize packages by feature, not by patterns or implementation roles. I think packages like:

  • beans
  • factories
  • collections

are wrong.

I prefer, for example:

  • orders
  • store
  • reports

so I can hide implementation details through package visibility. Factory of orders should be in the orders package so details about how to create an order are hidden.

How to use org.apache.commons package?

Download commons-net binary from here. Extract the files and reference the commons-net-x.x.jar file.

How do I install an R package from source?

A supplementarily handy (but trivial) tip for installing older version of packages from source.

First, if you call "install.packages", it always installs the latest package from repo. If you want to install the older version of packages, say for compatibility, you can call install.packages("url_to_source", repo=NULL, type="source"). For example:

install.packages("http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/RNetLogo/RNetLogo_0.9-6.tar.gz", repo=NULL, type="source")

Without manually downloading packages to the local disk and switching to the command line or installing from local disk, I found it is very convenient and simplify the call (one-step).

Plus: you can use this trick with devtools library's dev_mode, in order to manage different versions of packages:

How can I specify the required Node.js version in package.json?

.nvmrc

If you are using NVM like this, which you likely should, then you can indicate the nodejs version required for given project in a git-tracked .nvmrc file:

echo v10.15.1 > .nvmrc

This does not take effect automatically on cd, which is sane: the user must then do a:

nvm use

and now that version of node will be used for the current shell.

You can list the versions of node that you have with:

nvm list

.nvmrc is documented at: https://github.com/creationix/nvm/tree/02997b0753f66c9790c6016ed022ed2072c22603#nvmrc

How to automatically select that node version on cd was asked at: Automatically switch to correct version of Node based on project

Tested with NVM 0.33.11.

How to install a python library manually

Here is the official FAQ on installing Python Modules: http://docs.python.org/install/index.html

There are some tips which might help you.

How should I deal with "package 'xxx' is not available (for R version x.y.z)" warning?

One thing that happened for me is that the version of R provided by my linux distribution (R version 3.0.2 provided by Ubuntu 14.04) was too old for the latest version of the package available on CRAN (in my case, plyr version 1.8.3 as of today). The solution was to use the packaging system of my distribution instead of trying to install from R (apt-get install r-cran-plyr got me version 1.8.1 of plyr). Maybe I could have tried to update R using updateR(), but I'm afraid that doing so would interfere with my distribution's package manager.

Edit (04/08/2020): I recently had an issue with a package (XML) reportedly not available for my R version (3.6.3, latest supported on Debian stretch), after an update of the package in CRAN. It was very unexpected because I already had installed it with success before (on the same version of R and same OS).

For some reason, the package was still there, but install.packages was only looking at the updated (and incompatible) version. The solution was to find the URL of the compatible version and force install.packages to use it, as follows:

install.packages("https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/XML/XML_3.99-0.3.tar.gz", repos=NULL, type="source", ask=FALSE)

Python: import module from another directory at the same level in project hierarchy

I faced the same issues. To solve this, I used export PYTHONPATH="$PWD". However, in this case, you will need to modify imports in your Scripts dir depending on the below:

Case 1: If you are in the user_management dir, your scripts should use this style from Modules import LDAPManager to import module.

Case 2: If you are out of the user_management 1 level like main, your scripts should use this style from user_management.Modules import LDAPManager to import modules.

How to install a Mac application using Terminal

Probably not exactly your issue..

Do you have any spaces in your package path? You should wrap it up in double quotes to be safe, otherwise it can be taken as two separate arguments

sudo installer -store -pkg "/User/MyName/Desktop/helloWorld.pkg" -target /

What is a Python egg?

The .egg file is a distribution format for Python packages. It’s just an alternative to a source code distribution or Windows exe. But note that for pure Python, the .egg file is completely cross-platform.

The .egg file itself is essentially a .zip file. If you change the extension to “zip”, you can see that it will have folders inside the archive.

Also, if you have an .egg file, you can install it as a package using easy_install

Example: To create an .egg file for a directory say mymath which itself may have several python scripts, do the following step:

# setup.py
from setuptools import setup, find_packages
setup(
    name = "mymath",
    version = "0.1",
    packages = find_packages()
    )

Then, from the terminal do:

 $ python setup.py bdist_egg

This will generate lot of outputs, but when it’s completed you’ll see that you have three new folders: build, dist, and mymath.egg-info. The only folder that we care about is the dist folder where you'll find your .egg file, mymath-0.1-py3.5.egg with your default python (installation) version number(mine here: 3.5)

How to change package name of Android Project in Eclipse?

Press F2 and then rename it (or right click on the project and select Rename). It changes wherever that package is declared in your project. It's automatically renamed all over.

What is __init__.py for?

The __init__.py file makes Python treat directories containing it as modules.

Furthermore, this is the first file to be loaded in a module, so you can use it to execute code that you want to run each time a module is loaded, or specify the submodules to be exported.

Check if Python Package is installed

Open your command prompt type

pip3 list

What's the difference between a Python module and a Python package?

From the Python glossary:

It’s important to keep in mind that all packages are modules, but not all modules are packages. Or put another way, packages are just a special kind of module. Specifically, any module that contains a __path__ attribute is considered a package.

Python files with a dash in the name, like my-file.py, cannot be imported with a simple import statement. Code-wise, import my-file is the same as import my - file which will raise an exception. Such files are better characterized as scripts whereas importable files are modules.

Is it possible to change the package name of an Android app on Google Play?

Never, you can't do it since package name is the unique name Identifier for your app.....

Why do package names often begin with "com"

It's just a namespace definition to avoid collision of class names. The com.domain.package.Class is an established Java convention wherein the namespace is qualified with the company domain in reverse.

"Python version 2.7 required, which was not found in the registry" error when attempting to install netCDF4 on Windows 8

I had the same issue when using an .exe to install a Python package (because I use Anaconda and it didn't add Python to the registry). I fixed the problem by running this script:

How to import local packages without gopath

Run:

go mod init yellow

Then create a file yellow.go:

package yellow

func Mix(s string) string {
   return s + "Yellow"
}

Then create a file orange/orange.go:

package main
import "yellow"

func main() {
   s := yellow.Mix("Red")
   println(s)
}

Then build:

go build

https://golang.org/doc/code.html

Python error: AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute

The way I would do it is to leave the __ init__.py files empty, and do:

import lib.mod1.mod11
lib.mod1.mod11.mod12()

or

from lib.mod1.mod11 import mod12
mod12()

You may find that the mod1 dir is unnecessary, just have mod12.py in lib.

How to find out which package version is loaded in R?

You can use packageVersion to see what version of a package is loaded

> packageVersion("snow")
[1] ‘0.3.9’

Although it sounds like you want to see what version of R you are running, in which case @Justin's sessionInfo suggestion is the way to go

Python 3: ImportError "No Module named Setuptools"

I was doing this inside a virtualenv on Oracle Linux 6.4 using python-2.6 so the apt-based solutions weren't an option for me, nor were the python-2.7 ideas. My fix was to upgrade my version of setuptools that had been installed by virtualenv:

pip install --upgrade setuptools

After that, I was able to install packages into the virtualenv. I know this question has already had an answer selected but I hope this answer will help others in my situation.

How to select a CRAN mirror in R

You should either get a window with a list of repositories or a text menu with some options. But if that is not appearing, you can always specify the mirror from where to download the packages yourself by using repos parameter. By doing that, R will not ask you anymore about the repository. Example:

install.packages('RMySQL', repos='http://cran.us.r-project.org')

Here you have a list of mirrors for R.

R not finding package even after package installation

I had this problem and the issue was that I had the package loaded in another R instance. Simply closing all R instances and installing on a fresh instance allowed for the package to be installed.

Generally, you can also install if every remaining instance has never loaded the package as well (even if it installed an old version).

How to get current class name including package name in Java?

There is a class, Class, that can do this:

Class c = Class.forName("MyClass"); // if you want to specify a class
Class c = this.getClass(); // if you want to use the current class

System.out.println("Package: "+c.getPackage()+"\nClass: "+c.getSimpleName()+"\nFull Identifier: "+c.getName());

If c represented the class MyClass in the package mypackage, the above code would print:

Package: mypackage
Class: MyClass
Full Identifier: mypackage.MyClass

You can take this information and modify it for whatever you need, or go check the API for more information.

Eclipse: The declared package does not match the expected package

Move your problem *.java files to other folder.

Click 'src' item and press "F5".

Red crosses will dissaperar.

Return your *.java files to "package path", click 'src' item and press "F5".

All should be ok.

Is __init__.py not required for packages in Python 3.3+

Based on my experience, even with python 3.3+, an empty __init__.py is still needed sometimes. One situation is when you want to refer a subfolder as a package. For example, when I ran python -m test.foo, it didn't work until I created an empty __init__.py under the test folder. And I'm talking about 3.6.6 version here which is pretty recent.

Apart from that, even for reasons of compatibility with existing source code or project guidelines, its nice to have an empty __init__.py in your package folder.

How to install a private NPM module without my own registry?

Update January 2016

In addition to other answers, there is sometimes the scenario where you wish to have private modules available in a team context.

Both Github and Bitbucket support the concept of generating a team API Key. This API key can be used as the password to perform API requests as this team.

In your private npm modules add

"private": true

to your package.json

Then to reference the private module in another module, use this in your package.json

    {
        "name": "myapp",
        "dependencies": {
            "private-repo":
"git+https://myteamname:[email protected]/myprivate.git",
        }
    }

where team name = myteamname, and API Key = aQqtcplwFzlumj0mIDdRGCbsAq5d6Xg4

Here I reference a bitbucket repo, but it is almost identical using github too.

Finally, as an alternative, if you really don't mind paying $7 per month (as of writing) then you can now have private NPM modules out of the box.

How to remove a package from Laravel using composer?

Got it working... The steps to remove a package from Laravel are:

  1. Remove declaration from composer.json (in "require" section)
  2. Remove Service Provider from config/app.php (reference in "providers" array)
  3. Remove any Class Aliases from config/app.php
  4. Remove any references to the package from your code :-)
  5. Run composer update vendor/package-name. This will remove the package folder from the vendor folder and will rebuild the composer autoloading map.
  6. Manually delete the published files (read the comment by zwacky)

It will remove the package folder from Vendor folder

Go build: "Cannot find package" (even though GOPATH is set)

TL;DR: Follow Go conventions! (lesson learned the hard way), check for old go versions and remove them. Install latest.

For me the solution was different. I worked on a shared Linux server and after verifying my GOPATH and other environment variables several times it still didn't work. I encountered several errors including 'Cannot find package' and 'unrecognized import path'. After trying to reinstall with this solution by the instructions on golang.org (including the uninstall part) still encountered problems.

Took me some time to realize that there's still an old version that hasn't been uninstalled (running go version then which go again... DAHH) which got me to this question and finally solved.

What should be the package name of android app?

Package name is the reversed domain name, it is a unique name for each application on Playstore. You can't upload two apps with the same package name. You can check package name of the app from playstore url

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=package_name

so you can easily check on playstore that this package name is in used by some other app or not before uploading it.

How to get package name from anywhere?

Just import Android.app,then you can use: <br/>Application.getProcessName()<br/>

Get the current Application Process Name without context, view, or activity.

Npm install failed with "cannot run in wd"

OP here, I have learned a lot more about node since I first asked this question. Though Dmitry's answer was very helpful, what ultimately did it for me is to install node with the correct permissions.

I highly recommend not installing node using any package managers, but rather to compile it yourself so that it resides in a local directory with normal permissions.

This article provides a very clear step-by-step instruction of how to do so:

How to install pip with Python 3?

To install pip, securely download get-pip.py.

Then run the following:

python get-pip.py

Be cautious if you're using a Python install that's managed by your operating system or another package manager. get-pip.py does not coordinate with those tools, and may leave your system in an inconsistent state.

Python: importing a sub-package or sub-module

The reason #2 fails is because sys.modules['module'] does not exist (the import routine has its own scope, and cannot see the module local name), and there's no module module or package on-disk. Note that you can separate multiple imported names by commas.

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'sklearn'

Brief Introduction

When using Anaconda, one needs to be aware of the environment that one is working.

Then, in Anaconda Prompt (base) one needs to use the following code:

conda $command -n $ENVIRONMENT_NAME $IDE/package/module

$command - Command that I intend to use (consult documentation for general commands)

$ENVIRONMENT NAME - The name of your environment (if one is working in the root, conda $command $IDE/package/module is enough)

$IDE/package/module - The name of the IDE or package or module

Solution

If one wants to install it in the root and one follows the requirements - (Python (>= 2.7 or >= 3.4), NumPy (>= 1.8.2), SciPy (>= 0.13.3).) - the following will solve the problem:

conda install scikit-learn

Let's say that one is working in the environment with the name ML.

Then the following will solve one's problem:

conda install -n ML scikit-learn

Note: If one needs to install/update packages, the logic is the same as mentioned in the introduction. If you need more information on Anaconda Packages, check the documentation.

If the above doesn't work, on Anaconda Prompt one can also use pip (here's how to pip install scikit-learn) so the following may help

pip install scikit-learn

Create an Oracle function that returns a table

I think you want a pipelined table function.

Something like this:

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE test AS

    TYPE measure_record IS RECORD(
       l4_id VARCHAR2(50),
       l6_id VARCHAR2(50),
       l8_id VARCHAR2(50),
       year NUMBER,
       period NUMBER,
       VALUE NUMBER);

    TYPE measure_table IS TABLE OF measure_record;

    FUNCTION get_ups(foo NUMBER)
        RETURN measure_table
        PIPELINED;
END;

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY test AS

    FUNCTION get_ups(foo number)
        RETURN measure_table
        PIPELINED IS

        rec            measure_record;

    BEGIN
        SELECT 'foo', 'bar', 'baz', 2010, 5, 13
          INTO rec
          FROM DUAL;

        -- you would usually have a cursor and a loop here
        PIPE ROW (rec);

        RETURN;
    END get_ups;
END;

For simplicity I removed your parameters and didn't implement a loop in the function, but you can see the principle.

Usage:

SELECT *
  FROM table(test.get_ups(0));

L4_ID L6_ID L8_ID       YEAR     PERIOD      VALUE
----- ----- ----- ---------- ---------- ----------
foo   bar   baz         2010          5         13
1 row selected.

What is thread safe or non-thread safe in PHP?

As per PHP Documentation,

What does thread safety mean when downloading PHP?

Thread Safety means that binary can work in a multithreaded webserver context, such as Apache 2 on Windows. Thread Safety works by creating a local storage copy in each thread, so that the data won't collide with another thread.

So what do I choose? If you choose to run PHP as a CGI binary, then you won't need thread safety, because the binary is invoked at each request. For multithreaded webservers, such as IIS5 and IIS6, you should use the threaded version of PHP.

Following Libraries are not thread safe. They are not recommended for use in a multi-threaded environment.

  • SNMP (Unix)
  • mSQL (Unix)
  • IMAP (Win/Unix)
  • Sybase-CT (Linux, libc5)

What is the difference between require() and library()?

You can use require() if you want to install packages if and only if necessary, such as:

if (!require(package, character.only=T, quietly=T)) {
    install.packages(package)
    library(package, character.only=T)
}

For multiple packages you can use

for (package in c('<package1>', '<package2>')) {
    if (!require(package, character.only=T, quietly=T)) {
        install.packages(package)
        library(package, character.only=T)
    }
}

Pro tips:

  • When used inside the script, you can avoid a dialog screen by specifying the repos parameter of install.packages(), such as

    install.packages(package, repos="http://cran.us.r-project.org")

  • You can wrap require() and library() in suppressPackageStartupMessages() to, well, suppress package startup messages, and also use the parameters require(..., quietly=T, warn.conflicts=F) if needed to keep the installs quiet.

How do I import a specific version of a package using go get?

There's a go edit -replace command to append a specific commit (even from another forked repository) on top of the current version of a package. What's cool about this option, is that you don't need to know the exact pseudo version beforehand, just the commit hash id.

For example, I'm using the stable version of package "github.com/onsi/ginkgo v1.8.0".

Now I want - without modifying this line of required package in go.mod - to append a patch from my fork, on top of the ginkgo version:

$ GO111MODULE="on"  go mod edit -replace=github.com/onsi/ginkgo=github.com/manosnoam/ginkgo@d6423c2

After the first time you build or test your module, GO will try to pull the new version, and then generate the "replace" line with the correct pseudo version. For example in my case, it will add on the bottom of go.mod:

replace github.com/onsi/ginkgo => github.com/manosnoam/ginkgo v0.0.0-20190902135631-1995eead7451

Standard way to embed version into python package?

Not directly an answer to your question, but you should consider naming it __version__, not version.

This is almost a quasi-standard. Many modules in the standard library use __version__, and this is also used in lots of 3rd-party modules, so it's the quasi-standard.

Usually, __version__ is a string, but sometimes it's also a float or tuple.

Edit: as mentioned by S.Lott (Thank you!), PEP 8 says it explicitly:

Module Level Dunder Names

Module level "dunders" (i.e. names with two leading and two trailing underscores) such as __all__, __author__, __version__, etc. should be placed after the module docstring but before any import statements except from __future__ imports.

You should also make sure that the version number conforms to the format described in PEP 440 (PEP 386 a previous version of this standard).

What is the convention for word separator in Java package names?

All three are not the conventions.

Use com.stackoverflow.mypackage.

The package names do not follow camel casing or underscores or hyphens package naming convention.

Also, Google Java Style Guide specifies exactly the same (i.e. com.stackoverflow.mypackage) convention:

5.2.1 Package names

Package names are all lowercase, with consecutive words simply concatenated together (no underscores). For example, com.example.deepspace, not com.example.deepSpace or com.example.deep_space.

Google Java Style Guide: 5.2 Rules by identifier type: 5.2.1 Package names.

"installation of package 'FILE_PATH' had non-zero exit status" in R

For those of you who are using MacOS and like me perhaps have been circling the internet as to why some R packages do not install here is a possible help.

If you get a non-zero exit status first check to ensure all dependencies are installed as well. Read through the messaging. If that is checked off, then look for indications such as gfortran: No such a file or directory. That might be due to Apple OS compiler issues that some packages will not install unless you use their binary version. Look for binary zip file in the package cran.r-project.org page, download it and use the following command to get the package installed:

install.packages("/PATH/zip file ", repos = NULL, type="source")

Edit: 2020-05-08: Is seems the website I quoted is no longer controlled by the person who wrote the advice, so I'm removing the link to the site. Thanks for letting me know baxx.

If someone's still struggling a bit after the great answers already provided, I found advice on a website that no longer is available.

Essential quote from the site I mentioned:

"The same can be specified programmatically in this way:

import sys

sys.path.append('..')

Of course the code above must be written before the other import statement.

It's pretty obvious that it has to be this way, thinking on it after the fact. I was trying to use the sys.path.append('..') in my tests, but ran into the issue posted by OP. By adding the import and sys.path defintion before my other imports, I was able to solve the problem.

Relative imports - ModuleNotFoundError: No module named x

How to make rpm auto install dependencies

I found a simpler solution. If you have all the RPMs in the same directory, all you need to do is,

$ sudo rpm -i *.rpm

rpm seems to figure out the correct order to install these and installs the RPMs.

Error in installation a R package

The solution indicated by Guannan Shen has one drawback that usually goes unnoticed.

When you run sudo R in order to run install.packages() as superuser, the directories in which you install the library end up belonging to root user, a.k.a., the superuser.

So, next time you need to update your libraries, you will not remember that you ran sudo, therefore leaving root as the owner of the files and directories; that eventually causes the error when trying to move files, because no one can overwrite root but themself.

That can be averted by running

sudo chown -R yourusername:yourusername *

in the directory lib that contains your local libraries, replacing yourusername by the adequated value in your installation. Then you try installing once again.

How to use custom packages

I am an experienced programmer, but, quite new into Go world ! And I confess I've faced few difficulties to understand Go... I faced this same problem when trying to organize my go files in sub-folders. The way I did it :

GO_Directory ( the one assigned to $GOPATH )

GO_Directory //the one assigned to $GOPATH
__MyProject
_____ main.go
_____ Entites
_____ Fiboo // in my case, fiboo is a database name
_________ Client.go // in my case, Client is a table name

On File MyProject\Entities\Fiboo\Client.go

package Fiboo

type Client struct{
    ID int
    name string
}

on file MyProject\main.go

package main

import(
    Fiboo "./Entity/Fiboo"
)

var TableClient  Fiboo.Client

func main(){
    TableClient.ID = 1
    TableClient.name = 'Hugo'

    // do your things here
}

( I am running Go 1.9 on Ubuntu 16.04 )

And remember guys, I am newbie on Go. If what I am doing is bad practice, let me know !

What is the difference between --save and --save-dev?

--save-dev is used for modules used in development of the application,not require while running it in production envionment --save is used to add it in package.json and it is required for running of the application.

Example: express,body-parser,lodash,helmet,mysql all these are used while running the application use --save to put in dependencies while mocha,istanbul,chai,sonarqube-scanner all are used during development ,so put those in dev-dependencies .

npm link or npm install will also install the dev-dependency modules along with dependency modules in your project folder

Best way to get all selected checkboxes VALUES in jQuery

You want the :checkbox:checked selector and map to create an array of the values:

var checkedValues = $('input:checkbox:checked').map(function() {
    return this.value;
}).get();

If your checkboxes have a shared class it would be faster to use that instead, eg. $('.mycheckboxes:checked'), or for a common name $('input[name="Foo"]:checked')

- Update -

If you don't need IE support then you can now make the map() call more succinct by using an arrow function:

var checkedValues = $('input:checkbox:checked').map((i, el) => el.value).get();

Strange out of memory issue while loading an image to a Bitmap object

Generally android device heap size is only 16MB (varies from device/OS see post Heap Sizes), if you are loading the images and it crosses the size of 16MB , it will throw out of memory exception, instead of using the Bitmap for , loading images from SD card or from resources or even from network try to using getImageUri , loading bitmap require more memory , or you can set bitmap to null if your work done with that bitmap.

Visual Studio 64 bit?

No! There is no 64-bit version of Visual Studio.

How to know it is not 64-bit: Once you download Visual Studio and click the install button, you will see that the initialization folder it selects automatically is C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0

As per my understanding, all 64-bit programs/applications goes to C:\Program Files and all 32-bit applications goes to C:\Program Files (x86) from Windows 7 onwards.

Using Django time/date widgets in custom form

The below will also work as a last resort if the above failed

class PaymentsForm(forms.ModelForm):
    class Meta:
        model = Payments

    def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs):
        super(PaymentsForm, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs)
        self.fields['date'].widget = SelectDateWidget()

Same as

class PaymentsForm(forms.ModelForm):
    date = forms.DateField(widget=SelectDateWidget())

    class Meta:
        model = Payments

put this in your forms.py from django.forms.extras.widgets import SelectDateWidget

How can I easily convert DataReader to List<T>?

I've covered this in a pet project.. use what you want.

Note that the ListEx implements the IDataReader interface.

people = new ListExCommand(command)
.Map(p=> new ContactPerson()
{
  Age = p.GetInt32(p.GetOrdinal("Age")),
  FirstName = p.GetString(p.GetOrdinal("FirstName")),
  IdNumber = p.GetInt64(p.GetOrdinal("IdNumber")),
  Surname = p.GetString(p.GetOrdinal("Surname")),
  Email = "[email protected]"
})
.ToListEx()
.Where("FirstName", "Peter");

Or use object mapping like in the following example.

people = new ListExAutoMap(personList)
.Map(p => new ContactPerson()
{
    Age = p.Age,
    FirstName = p.FirstName,
    IdNumber = p.IdNumber,
    Surname = p.Surname,
    Email = "[email protected]"
})
.ToListEx()
.Where(contactPerson => contactPerson.FirstName == "Zack");

How to generate and validate a software license key?

Simple answer - No matter what scheme you use it can be cracked.

Don't punish honest customers with a system meant to prevent hackers, as hackers will crack it regardless.

A simple hashed code tied to their email or similar is probably good enough. Hardware based IDs always become an issue when people need to reinstall or update hardware.

How to check all versions of python installed on osx and centos

The more easy way its by executing the next command:

Code coverage for Jest built on top of Jasmine

I had the same issue and I fixed it as below.

  1. install yarn npm install --save-dev yarn
  2. install jest-cli npm install --save-dev jest-cli
  3. add this to the package.json "jest-coverage": "yarn run jest -- --coverage"

After you write the tests, run the command npm run jest-coverage. This will create a coverage folder in the root directory. /coverage/icov-report/index.html has the HTML view of the code coverage.

Is there a "null coalescing" operator in JavaScript?

beware of the JavaScript specific definition of null. there are two definitions for "no value" in javascript. 1. Null: when a variable is null, it means it contains no data in it, but the variable is already defined in the code. like this:

var myEmptyValue = 1;
myEmptyValue = null;
if ( myEmptyValue === null ) { window.alert('it is null'); }
// alerts

in such case, the type of your variable is actually Object. test it.

window.alert(typeof myEmptyValue); // prints Object
  1. Undefined: when a variable has not been defined before in the code, and as expected, it does not contain any value. like this:

    if ( myUndefinedValue === undefined ) { window.alert('it is undefined'); }
    // alerts

if such case, the type of your variable is 'undefined'.

notice that if you use the type-converting comparison operator (==), JavaScript will act equally for both of these empty-values. to distinguish between them, always use the type-strict comparison operator (===).

Traverse all the Nodes of a JSON Object Tree with JavaScript

I wanted to use the perfect solution of @TheHippo in an anonymous function, without use of process and trigger functions. The following worked for me, sharing for novice programmers like myself.

(function traverse(o) {
    for (var i in o) {
        console.log('key : ' + i + ', value: ' + o[i]);

        if (o[i] !== null && typeof(o[i])=="object") {
            //going on step down in the object tree!!
            traverse(o[i]);
        }
    }
  })
  (json);

Angular ngClass and click event for toggling class

ngClass should be wrapped in square brackets as this is a property binding. Try this:

<div class="my_class" (click)="clickEvent($event)"  [ngClass]="{'active': toggle}">
     Some content
</div>

In your component:

     //define the toogle property
     private toggle : boolean = false;

    //define your method
    clickEvent(event){
       //if you just want to toggle the class; change toggle variable.
       this.toggle = !this.toggle;
    }

Hope that helps.

How to prevent favicon.ico requests?

I will first say that having a favicon in a Web page is a good thing (normally).

However it is not always desired and sometime developers need a way to avoid the extra payload. For example an IFRAME would request a favicon without showing it. Worst yet, in Chrome and Android an IFRAME will generate 3 requests for favicons:

"GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 404 183
"GET /apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png HTTP/1.1" 404 197
"GET /apple-touch-icon.png HTTP/1.1" 404 189

The following uses data URI and can be used to avoid fake favicon requests:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="data:image/x-icon;," type="image/x-icon">

For references see here:

UPDATE 1:

From the comments (jpic) it looks like Firefox >= 25 doesn't like the above syntax anymore. I tested on Firefox 27 and it doesn't work while it still work on Webkit/Chrome.

So here is the new one that should cover all recent browsers. I tested Safari, Chrome and Firefox:

<link rel="icon" href="data:;base64,=">

I left out the "shortcut" name from the "rel" attribute value since that's only for older IE and versions of IE < 8 doesn't like dataURIs either. Not tested on IE8.

UPDATE 2:

If you need your document to validate against HTML5 use this instead:

<link rel="icon" href="data:;base64,iVBORw0KGgo=">

Java, How to implement a Shift Cipher (Caesar Cipher)

Java Shift Caesar Cipher by shift spaces.

Restrictions:

  1. Only works with a positive number in the shift parameter.
  2. Only works with shift less than 26.
  3. Does a += which will bog the computer down for bodies of text longer than a few thousand characters.
  4. Does a cast number to character, so it will fail with anything but ascii letters.
  5. Only tolerates letters a through z. Cannot handle spaces, numbers, symbols or unicode.
  6. Code violates the DRY (don't repeat yourself) principle by repeating the calculation more than it has to.

Pseudocode:

  1. Loop through each character in the string.
  2. Add shift to the character and if it falls off the end of the alphabet then subtract shift from the number of letters in the alphabet (26)
  3. If the shift does not make the character fall off the end of the alphabet, then add the shift to the character.
  4. Append the character onto a new string. Return the string.

Function:

String cipher(String msg, int shift){
    String s = "";
    int len = msg.length();
    for(int x = 0; x < len; x++){
        char c = (char)(msg.charAt(x) + shift);
        if (c > 'z')
            s += (char)(msg.charAt(x) - (26-shift));
        else
            s += (char)(msg.charAt(x) + shift);
    }
    return s;
}

How to invoke it:

System.out.println(cipher("abc", 3));  //prints def
System.out.println(cipher("xyz", 3));  //prints abc

How to change or add theme to Android Studio?

Thought I would add this as an answer, for anyone who accidentally mess up like I did!
It't not really an answer to the original question, but a few other posts refer to this post, so thought I would add it here (cause its slightly relevant to the question). Hope it helps someone!

Today I accidentally set my IDE font size on Android Studio very high (was going to set it to 10, but it accidentally became 110).

Now, the big issue for me was that opening the file menu was not possible (well, could open it, but could not get to the settings choice), so I had to figure out how to do it manually.

I found the Android Studio IDE settings in the Users/%username%/.AndroidStudioPreview/config folder and in there, the ui.inf.xml file, in which I could change the option FONT_SIZE back to a more manageable size.

Following image is android studio with 110 px font size on a 1920x1080 screen: Android studio 110 px font size

Stored procedure return into DataSet in C# .Net

You can declare SqlConnection and SqlCommand instances at global level so that you can use it through out the class. Connection string is in Web.Config.

SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["SqlConnector"].ConnectionString);
SqlCommand sqlcomm = new SqlCommand();

Now you can use the below method to pass values to Stored Procedure and get the DataSet.

public DataSet GetDataSet(string paramValue)
{
    sqlcomm.Connection = sqlConn;
    using (sqlConn)
    {
        try
        {
            using (SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter())
            {
                // This will be your input parameter and its value
                sqlcomm.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterName", paramValue);

                // You can retrieve values of `output` variables
                var returnParam = new SqlParameter
                {
                    ParameterName = "@Error",
                    Direction = ParameterDirection.Output,
                    Size = 1000
                };
                sqlcomm.Parameters.Add(returnParam);
                // Name of stored procedure
                sqlcomm.CommandText = "StoredProcedureName";
                da.SelectCommand = sqlcomm;
                da.SelectCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

                DataSet ds = new DataSet();
                da.Fill(ds);
            }
        }
        catch (SQLException ex)
        {
            Console.WriteLine("SQL Error: " + ex.Message);
        }
        catch (Exception e)
        {
            Console.WriteLine("Error: " + e.Message);

How to find out when an Oracle table was updated the last time

Oracle can watch tables for changes and when a change occurs can execute a callback function in PL/SQL or OCI. The callback gets an object that's a collection of tables which changed, and that has a collection of rowid which changed, and the type of action, Ins, upd, del.

So you don't even go to the table, you sit and wait to be called. You'll only go if there are changes to write.

It's called Database Change Notification. It's much simpler than CDC as Justin mentioned, but both require some fancy admin stuff. The good part is that neither of these require changes to the APPLICATION.

The caveat is that CDC is fine for high volume tables, DCN is not.

Deleting multiple elements from a list

You may want to simply use np.delete:

list_indices = [0, 2]
original_list = [0, 1, 2, 3]
new_list = np.delete(original_list, list_indices)

Output

array([1, 3])

Here, the first argument is the original list, the second is the index or a list of indices you want to delete.

There is a third argument which you can use in the case of having ndarrays: axis (0 for rows and 1 for columns in case of ndarrays).

Certificate is trusted by PC but not by Android

I hope i am not too late, this solution here worked for me, i am using COMODO SSL, the above solutions seem invalid over time, my website lifetanstic.co.ke

Instead of contacting Comodo Support and gain a CA bundle file You can do the following:

When You get your new SSL cert from Comodo (by mail) they have a zip file attached. You need to unzip the zip-file and open the following files in a text editor like notepad:

AddTrustExternalCARoot.crt
COMODORSAAddTrustCA.crt
COMODORSADomainValidationSecureServerCA.crt

Then copy the text of each ".crt" file and paste the texts above eachother in the "Certificate Authority Bundle (optional)" field.

After that just add the SSL cert as usual in the "Certificate" field and click at "Autofil by Certificate" button and hit "Install".

Convert Iterator to ArrayList

Note there is a difference between Iterable and Iterator.

If you have an Iterable, then with Java 8 you can use this solution:

Iterable<Element> iterable = createIterable();
List<Element> array = StreamSupport
    .stream(iterable.spliterator(), false)
    .collect(Collectors.toList());

As I know Collectors.toList() creates ArrayList instance.

Actually in my opinion, it also looks good in one line.
For example if you need to return List<Element> from some method:

return StreamSupport.stream(iter.spliterator(), false).collect(Collectors.toList());

jQuery - select the associated label element of a input field

As long and your input and label elements are associated by their id and for attributes, you should be able to do something like this:

$('.input').each(function() {
   $this = $(this);
   $label = $('label[for="'+ $this.attr('id') +'"]');
   if ($label.length > 0 ) {
       //this input has a label associated with it, lets do something!
   }
});

If for is not set then the elements have no semantic relation to each other anyway, and there is no benefit to using the label tag in that instance, so hopefully you will always have that relationship defined.

Google Chromecast sender error if Chromecast extension is not installed or using incognito

How about filtering these errors ?

With the regex filter bellow, we can dismiss cast_sender.js errors :

^((?!cast_sender).)*$

Do not forget to check Regex box.

How to sum up an array of integers in C#

Yes there is. With .NET 3.5:

int sum = arr.Sum();
Console.WriteLine(sum);

If you're not using .NET 3.5 you could do this:

int sum = 0;
Array.ForEach(arr, delegate(int i) { sum += i; });
Console.WriteLine(sum);

iReport not starting using JRE 8

don't uninstall anything. a system with multiple versions of java works just fine. and you don't need to update your environment varables (e.g. java_home, path, etc..).

yes, ireports 3.6.1 needs java 7 (doesn't work with java 8).

all you have to do is edit C:\Program Files\Jaspersoft\iReport-nb-3.6.1\etc\ireport.conf:

# default location of JDK/JRE, can be overridden by using --jdkhome <dir> switch
jdkhome="C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0_45"

on linux (no spaces and standard file paths) its that much easier. keep your java 8 for other interesting projects...

Does Eclipse have line-wrap

As mentioned in the post by VonC on this same page. Eclipse now has this capability as of 06/2016 Neon.

Try this plugin Eclipse platform plugin

It looks like eclipse only has the ability to do it manually on its own and here are the commands. At that point you must reformat the highlighted text manually.

It's not terribly obvious how to control Eclipse line width and line wrapping in your Java source files. Here's how and where:

Comment width and line wrapping is set in Preferences->Java->Code Style->Formatter, then click on the Edit button and select the Comments tab. I like Line Width for Comments to be 120.

Code line wrapping is set nearby, in Preferences->Java->Code Style- >Formatter, then click on the Edit button and select the Line Wrapping tab. I like a line width of 120 and indent size of 4.

Indentation is set separately, in Preferences->Java->Code Style- >Formatter, then click on the Edit button and select the Indentation tab. I like an indent size of 4, consistent with the Line Wrapping indent setting.

As if that's not enough, you can also set printer margins, tab size, etc, in Preferences>General>Editors>Text Editors where I set the Displayed Tab Width to 4 and Print Margin Column to 120 or more.

You can also check the Show Print Margin box to get a faint vertical line at the printer margin column

How to programmatically disable page scrolling with jQuery

You can cover-up the window with a scrollable div for preventing scrolling of the content on a page. And, by hiding and showing, you can lock/unlock your scroll.

Do something like this:

#scrollLock {
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    position: fixed;
    overflow: scroll;
    opacity: 0;
    display:none
}

#scrollLock > div {
    height: 99999px;
}

function scrollLock(){
    $('#scrollLock').scrollTop('10000').show();
}

function scrollUnlock(){
    $('#scrollLock').hide();
}

Remove all git files from a directory?

Unlike other source control systems like SVN or CVS, git stores all of its metadata in a single directory, rather than in every subdirectory of the project. So just delete .git from the root (or use a script like git-export) and you should be fine.

C# binary literals

Adding to @StriplingWarrior's answer about bit flags in enums, there's an easy convention you can use in hexadecimal for counting upwards through the bit shifts. Use the sequence 1-2-4-8, move one column to the left, and repeat.

[Flags]
enum Scenery
{
  Trees   = 0x001, // 000000000001
  Grass   = 0x002, // 000000000010
  Flowers = 0x004, // 000000000100
  Cactus  = 0x008, // 000000001000
  Birds   = 0x010, // 000000010000
  Bushes  = 0x020, // 000000100000
  Shrubs  = 0x040, // 000001000000
  Trails  = 0x080, // 000010000000
  Ferns   = 0x100, // 000100000000
  Rocks   = 0x200, // 001000000000
  Animals = 0x400, // 010000000000
  Moss    = 0x800, // 100000000000
}

Scan down starting with the right column and notice the pattern 1-2-4-8 (shift) 1-2-4-8 (shift) ...

To answer the original question, I second @Sahuagin's suggestion to use hexadecimal literals. If you're working with binary numbers often enough for this to be a concern, it's worth your while to get the hang of hexadecimal.

If you need to see binary numbers in source code, I suggest adding comments with binary literals like I have above.

Install a Nuget package in Visual Studio Code

Nuget Gallery provides a GUI similar to the full Visual Studio. See below.

enter image description here

How To Use:

  1. Install Nuget Gallery from extension marketplace.
  2. Launch from the menu bar View > Command Palette or ??P (Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows and Linux). Type Nuget: Open Gallery.
  3. The GUI above is displayed. You can filter just like in regular Visual Studio.
  4. Make sure the .csproj file checkbox is selected, select version from dropdown, and click install button.

UPDATE

Earlier versions, as noted in the comments, had an issue where the .csproj checkbox was not visible when a package in the csproj file was missing a version number like below.

<PackageReference Include="Microsoft.AspNetCore.App" />

This has been fixed in newer versions of the extension so if you have an older version with this issue, please update it to the latest version.

How do I add my bot to a channel?

Now all clients allow to do it, but it's not pretty simple.
In any Telegram client:

  1. Open Channel info (in app title)
  2. Choose Administrators
  3. Add Administrator
  4. There will be no bots in contact list, so you need to search for it. Enter your bot's username
  5. Clicking on it you make it as administrator.

What is the difference between $routeProvider and $stateProvider?

$route: This is used for deep-linking URLs to controllers and views (HTML partials) and watches $location.url() in order to map the path from an existing definition of route.

When we use ngRoute, the route is configured with $routeProvider and when we use ui-router, the route is configured with $stateProvider and $urlRouterProvider.

<div ng-view></div>
    $routeProvider
        .when('/contact/', {
            templateUrl: 'app/views/core/contact/contact.html',
            controller: 'ContactCtrl'
        });

<div ui-view>
    <div ui-view='abc'></div>
    <div ui-view='abc'></div>
   </div>
    $stateProvider
        .state("contact", {
            url: "/contact/",
            templateUrl: '/app/Aisel/Contact/views/contact.html',
            controller: 'ContactCtrl'
        });

Getting Error "Form submission canceled because the form is not connected"

Adding for posterity since this isn't chrome related but this was the first thread that showed up on google when searching for this form submission error.

In our case we attached a function to replace the current div html with a "loading" animation on submission - since it occurred before the form was submitted there was no longer any form or data to submit.

Very obvious error in retrospect but in case anyone ends up here it might save them some time in the future.

How to expand a list to function arguments in Python

Try the following:

This can be found in the Python docs as Unpacking Argument Lists.

Docker: Multiple Dockerfiles in project

When working on a project that requires the use of multiple dockerfiles, simply create each dockerfile in a separate directory. For instance,

app/ db/

Each of the above directories will contain their dockerfile. When an application is being built, docker will search all directories and build all dockerfiles.

How to add/update an attribute to an HTML element using JavaScript?

Obligatory jQuery solution. Finds and sets the title attribute to foo. Note this selects a single element since I'm doing it by id, but you could easily set the same attribute on a collection by changing the selector.

$('#element').attr( 'title', 'foo' );

Why can't I define my workbook as an object?

It's actually a sensible question. Here's the answer from Excel 2010 help:

"The Workbook object is a member of the Workbooks collection. The Workbooks collection contains all the Workbook objects currently open in Microsoft Excel."

So, since that workbook isn't open - at least I assume it isn't - it can't be set as a workbook object. If it was open you'd just set it like:

Set wbk = workbooks("Master Benchmark Data Sheet.xlsx")

Max or Default?

You could always add Double.MinValue to the sequence. This would ensure that there is at least one element and Max would return it only if it is actually the minimum. To determine which option is more efficient (Concat, FirstOrDefault or Take(1)), you should perform adequate benchmarking.

double x = context.MyTable
    .Where(y => y.MyField == value)
    .Select(y => y.MyCounter)
    .Concat(new double[]{Double.MinValue})
    .Max();

    // then perform your select statement according to that label.
}
//try it it might work for you

How to write lists inside a markdown table?

Yes, you can merge them using HTML. When I create tables in .md files from Github, I always like to use HTML code instead of markdown.

Github Flavored Markdown supports basic HTML in .md file. So this would be the answer:

Markdown mixed with HTML:

| Tables        | Are           | Cool  |
| ------------- |:-------------:| -----:|
| col 3 is      | right-aligned | $1600 |
| col 2 is      | centered      |   $12 |
| zebra stripes | are neat      |    $1 |
| <ul><li>item1</li><li>item2</li></ul>| See the list | from the first column|

Or pure HTML:

<table>
  <tbody>
    <tr>
      <th>Tables</th>
      <th align="center">Are</th>
      <th align="right">Cool</th>
    </tr>
    <tr>
      <td>col 3 is</td>
      <td align="center">right-aligned</td>
      <td align="right">$1600</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
      <td>col 2 is</td>
      <td align="center">centered</td>
      <td align="right">$12</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
      <td>zebra stripes</td>
      <td align="center">are neat</td>
      <td align="right">$1</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
      <td>
        <ul>
          <li>item1</li>
          <li>item2</li>
        </ul>
      </td>
      <td align="center">See the list</td>
      <td align="right">from the first column</td>
    </tr>
  </tbody>
</table>

What is the best way to dump entire objects to a log in C#?

What I like doing is overriding ToString() so that I get more useful output beyond the type name. This is handy in the debugger, you can see the information you want about an object without needing to expand it.

How to get text in QlineEdit when QpushButton is pressed in a string?

Using ffmpeg to change framerate

You may consider using fps filter. It won't change the video playback speed:

ffmpeg -i <input> -filter:v fps=fps=30 <output>

Worked nice for reducing fps from 59.6 to 30.

Exponentiation in Python - should I prefer ** operator instead of math.pow and math.sqrt?

math.sqrt is the C implementation of square root and is therefore different from using the ** operator which implements Python's built-in pow function. Thus, using math.sqrt actually gives a different answer than using the ** operator and there is indeed a computational reason to prefer numpy or math module implementation over the built-in. Specifically the sqrt functions are probably implemented in the most efficient way possible whereas ** operates over a large number of bases and exponents and is probably unoptimized for the specific case of square root. On the other hand, the built-in pow function handles a few extra cases like "complex numbers, unbounded integer powers, and modular exponentiation".

See this Stack Overflow question for more information on the difference between ** and math.sqrt.

In terms of which is more "Pythonic", I think we need to discuss the very definition of that word. From the official Python glossary, it states that a piece of code or idea is Pythonic if it "closely follows the most common idioms of the Python language, rather than implementing code using concepts common to other languages." In every single other language I can think of, there is some math module with basic square root functions. However there are languages that lack a power operator like ** e.g. C++. So ** is probably more Pythonic, but whether or not it's objectively better depends on the use case.

         824      1508         2492      1.7      9.1          yday = period_end.toordinal() - date(period_end.year, 1, 1).toordinal() + 1
         825      1508         1852      1.2      6.8          yday = (period_end - date(period_end.year, 1, 1)).days + 1

So most efficient is

How to push a single file in a subdirectory to Github (not master)

Let me start by saying that the way git works is you are not pushing/fetching files; well, at least not directly.

You are pushing/fetching refs, that point to commits. Then a commit in git is a reference to a tree of objects (where files are represented as objects, among other objects).

So, when you are pushing a commit, what git does it pushes a set of references like in this picture:

git commits

If you didn't push your master branch yet, the whole history of the branch will get pushed.

So, in your example, when you commit and push your file, the whole master branch will be pushed, if it was not pushed before.

To do what you asked for, you need to create a clean branch with no history, like in this answer.

Correct way to pass multiple values for same parameter name in GET request

there is no standard, but most frameworks support both, you can see for example for java spring that it accepts both here

@GetMapping("/api/foos")
@ResponseBody
public String getFoos(@RequestParam List<String> id) {
    return "IDs are " + id;
}

And Spring MVC will map a comma-delimited id parameter:

http://localhost:8080/api/foos?id=1,2,3
----
IDs are [1,2,3]

Or a list of separate id parameters:

http://localhost:8080/api/foos?id=1&id=2
----
IDs are [1,2]

Weird PHP error: 'Can't use function return value in write context'

This can happen in more than one scenario, below is a list of well known scenarios :

// calling empty on a function
empty(myFunction($myVariable)); // the return value of myFunction should be saved into a variable
// then you can use empty on your variable

// using parenthesis to access an element of an array, parenthesis are used to call a function

if (isset($_POST('sms_code') == TRUE ) { ...
// that should be if(isset($_POST['sms_code']) == TRUE)

This also could be triggered when we try to increment the result of a function like below:

$myCounter = '356';

$myCounter = intVal($myCounter)++; // we try to increment the result of the intVal...
// like the first case, the ++ needs to be called on a variable, a variable should hold the the return of the function then we can call ++ operator on it.

For me I was getting the "error android resource linking failed" pointing to a line in a layout file using ConstraintLayout that had been working correctly until today when the only change to my app level gradle file was to update the versions of:

android.arch.navigation:navigation-fragment
android.arch.navigation:navigation-ui

from 1.0.0-rc01 to 1.0.0-rc02.

The error message said something about not recognizing layout_constraintTop_toTopOf which of course is silly because it had been compiling quite happily for months.

I am already on 28.0.3 of build tools and compileSdkVersion of 28. I've been using androidx.appcompat everywhere for a while now (converted this project months back to androidx).

I first went through a project clean (no help), and invalidating cache/restart (no help). The layout in question had been originally defined using

<TextView>, <EditText> and <ImageView> components (which had been working fine until today).

But after reading the above answers I thought maybe somehow there was confusion being caused here so I changed the layout to use:

<androidx.appcompat.widget

versions of all the various components. No change - still got the error.

I then deleted the <androidx.appcompat.widget.AppCompatTextView block that was causing the compilation error. I changed all references to it in the other widgets to refer to "parent" instead. Did a Make. This time the compile completed without error.

So something strange in that widget definition I thought....here is what it was:

<androidx.appcompat.widget.AppCompatTextView
    android:id="@+id/contact_firstname_label"
    android:layout_width="0dp"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:text="@string/contact_fname_label"
    android:gravity="end"
    android:textAppearance="@android:style/TextAppearance.Material.Small"
    app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent"
    app:layout_constraintLeft_toLeftOf="parent"
    app:layout_constraintRight_toLeftOf="@+id/contact_detail_fname"
    app:layout_constraintBaseline_toBaselineOf="@+id/contact_detail_fname"/>

I then pasted back the block I had Ctrl-V cut previously and changed the references back to that ID in the other components that reference it in the layout. Compile failed.

I cut the block again and pasted it to WordPad. Then reading from the WordPad paste, I actually typed it back in (i.e. I didn't copy/paste this time) - line by line, doing a make on the project after I typed in the minimal definition, and then again thereafter when I put in each new line. Each time the project compiled cleanly!

I don't know what to make of this. Perhaps some spurious invisible character was in the file originally?

border-radius not working

Your problem is unrelated to how you have set border-radius. Fire up Chrome and hit Ctrl+Shift+j and inspect the element. Uncheck width and the border will have curved corners.

How do I calculate the MD5 checksum of a file in Python?

In regards to your error and what's missing in your code. m is a name which is not defined for getmd5() function.

No offence, I know you are a beginner, but your code is all over the place. Let's look at your issues one by one :)

First, you are not using hashlib.md5.hexdigest() method correctly. Please refer explanation on hashlib functions in Python Doc Library. The correct way to return MD5 for provided string is to do something like this:

>>> import hashlib
>>> hashlib.md5("filename.exe").hexdigest()
'2a53375ff139d9837e93a38a279d63e5'

However, you have a bigger problem here. You are calculating MD5 on a file name string, where in reality MD5 is calculated based on file contents. You will need to basically read file contents and pipe it though MD5. My next example is not very efficient, but something like this:

>>> import hashlib
>>> hashlib.md5(open('filename.exe','rb').read()).hexdigest()
'd41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e'

As you can clearly see second MD5 hash is totally different from the first one. The reason for that is that we are pushing contents of the file through, not just file name.

A simple solution could be something like that:

# Import hashlib library (md5 method is part of it)
import hashlib

# File to check
file_name = 'filename.exe'

# Correct original md5 goes here
original_md5 = '5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592'

# Open,close, read file and calculate MD5 on its contents
with open(file_name) as file_to_check:
    # read contents of the file
    data = file_to_check.read()
    # pipe contents of the file through
    md5_returned = hashlib.md5(data).hexdigest()

# Finally compare original MD5 with freshly calculated
if original_md5 == md5_returned:
    print "MD5 verified."
else:
    print "MD5 verification failed!."

Please look at the post Python: Generating a MD5 checksum of a file. It explains in detail a couple of ways how it can be achieved efficiently.

Best of luck.

/** and /* in Java Comments

I don't think the existing answers adequately addressed this part of the question:

When should I use them?

If you're writing an API that will be published or reused within your organization, you should write comprehensive Javadoc comments for every public class, method, and field, as well as protected methods and fields of non-final classes. Javadoc should cover everything that cannot be conveyed by the method signature, such as preconditions, postconditions, valid arguments, runtime exceptions, internal calls, etc.

If you're writing an internal API (one that's used by different parts of the same program), Javadoc is arguably less important. But for the benefit of maintenance programmers, you should still write Javadoc for any method or field where the correct usage or meaning is not immediately obvious.

The "killer feature" of Javadoc is that it's closely integrated with Eclipse and other IDEs. A developer only needs to hover their mouse pointer over an identifier to learn everything they need to know about it. Constantly referring to the documentation becomes second nature for experienced Java developers, which improves the quality of their own code. If your API isn't documented with Javadoc, experienced developers will not want to use it.

Load properties file in JAR?

The problem is that you are using getSystemResourceAsStream. Use simply getResourceAsStream. System resources load from the system classloader, which is almost certainly not the class loader that your jar is loaded into when run as a webapp.

It works in Eclipse because when launching an application, the system classloader is configured with your jar as part of its classpath. (E.g. java -jar my.jar will load my.jar in the system class loader.) This is not the case with web applications - application servers use complex class loading to isolate webapplications from each other and from the internals of the application server. For example, see the tomcat classloader how-to, and the diagram of the classloader hierarchy used.

EDIT: Normally, you would call getClass().getResourceAsStream() to retrieve a resource in the classpath, but as you are fetching the resource in a static initializer, you will need to explicitly name a class that is in the classloader you want to load from. The simplest approach is to use the class containing the static initializer, e.g.

[public] class MyClass {
  static
  {
    ...
    props.load(MyClass.class.getResourceAsStream("/someProps.properties"));
  }
}

Is a Java hashmap search really O(1)?

A particular feature of a HashMap is that unlike, say, balanced trees, its behavior is probabilistic. In these cases its usually most helpful to talk about complexity in terms of the probability of a worst-case event occurring would be. For a hash map, that of course is the case of a collision with respect to how full the map happens to be. A collision is pretty easy to estimate.

pcollision = n / capacity

So a hash map with even a modest number of elements is pretty likely to experience at least one collision. Big O notation allows us to do something more compelling. Observe that for any arbitrary, fixed constant k.

O(n) = O(k * n)

We can use this feature to improve the performance of the hash map. We could instead think about the probability of at most 2 collisions.

pcollision x 2 = (n / capacity)2

This is much lower. Since the cost of handling one extra collision is irrelevant to Big O performance, we've found a way to improve performance without actually changing the algorithm! We can generalzie this to

pcollision x k = (n / capacity)k

And now we can disregard some arbitrary number of collisions and end up with vanishingly tiny likelihood of more collisions than we are accounting for. You could get the probability to an arbitrarily tiny level by choosing the correct k, all without altering the actual implementation of the algorithm.

We talk about this by saying that the hash-map has O(1) access with high probability

Proper way to handle multiple forms on one page in Django

I needed multiple forms that are independently validated on the same page. The key concepts I was missing were 1) using the form prefix for the submit button name and 2) an unbounded form does not trigger validation. If it helps anyone else, here is my simplified example of two forms AForm and BForm using TemplateView based on the answers by @adam-nelson and @daniel-sokolowski and comment by @zeraien (https://stackoverflow.com/a/17303480/2680349):

# views.py
def _get_form(request, formcls, prefix):
    data = request.POST if prefix in request.POST else None
    return formcls(data, prefix=prefix)

class MyView(TemplateView):
    template_name = 'mytemplate.html'

    def get(self, request, *args, **kwargs):
        return self.render_to_response({'aform': AForm(prefix='aform_pre'), 'bform': BForm(prefix='bform_pre')})

    def post(self, request, *args, **kwargs):
        aform = _get_form(request, AForm, 'aform_pre')
        bform = _get_form(request, BForm, 'bform_pre')
        if aform.is_bound and aform.is_valid():
            # Process aform and render response
        elif bform.is_bound and bform.is_valid():
            # Process bform and render response
        return self.render_to_response({'aform': aform, 'bform': bform})

# mytemplate.html
<form action="" method="post">
    {% csrf_token %}
    {{ aform.as_p }}
    <input type="submit" name="{{aform.prefix}}" value="Submit" />
    {{ bform.as_p }}
    <input type="submit" name="{{bform.prefix}}" value="Submit" />
</form>

Getting a map() to return a list in Python 3.x

Converting my old comment for better visibility: For a "better way to do this" without map entirely, if your inputs are known to be ASCII ordinals, it's generally much faster to convert to bytes and decode, a la bytes(list_of_ordinals).decode('ascii'). That gets you a str of the values, but if you need a list for mutability or the like, you can just convert it (and it's still faster). For example, in ipython microbenchmarks converting 45 inputs:

>>> %%timeit -r5 ordinals = list(range(45))
... list(map(chr, ordinals))
...
3.91 µs ± 60.2 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 5 runs, 100000 loops each)

>>> %%timeit -r5 ordinals = list(range(45))
... [*map(chr, ordinals)]
...
3.84 µs ± 219 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 5 runs, 100000 loops each)

>>> %%timeit -r5 ordinals = list(range(45))
... [*bytes(ordinals).decode('ascii')]
...
1.43 µs ± 49.7 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 5 runs, 1000000 loops each)

>>> %%timeit -r5 ordinals = list(range(45))
... bytes(ordinals).decode('ascii')
...
781 ns ± 15.9 ns per loop (mean ± std. dev. of 5 runs, 1000000 loops each)

If you leave it as a str, it takes ~20% of the time of the fastest map solutions; even converting back to list it's still less than 40% of the fastest map solution. Bulk convert via bytes and bytes.decode then bulk converting back to list saves a lot of work, but as noted, only works if all your inputs are ASCII ordinals (or ordinals in some one byte per character locale specific encoding, e.g. latin-1).

How do I correct "Commit Failed. File xxx is out of date. xxx path not found."

I've had the same issue today and I've not done any intermediate merges so from your opening post only #1 might apply - however i have made commits both from an svn client in ubuntu as well as tortoisesvn in windows. Luckily in my case no changes to the trunk were made so I could just replace the trunk with the branch. Possibly different svn versions then? That's quite worrying.

If you use the svn move / copy /delete functions though no history is lost in my case - i svn moved the trunk and then svn moved the branch to trunk.

Excel - Shading entire row based on change of value

I have found a simple solution to banding by content at Pearson Software Consulting: Let's say the header is from A1 to B1, table data is from A2 to B5, the controling cell is in the A column

  1. Make a new column, C
  2. At first the first row to color make the formula =true in the C2 cell
  3. In the second row make the formula =IF(A3=A2,C2,NOT(C2))
  4. Fill the column down to the last row
  5. Select the data range
  6. Select conditional formatting, choose Use a formula... and put =$C2 as the formula

Java, List only subdirectories from a directory, not files

I'd like to use the java.io.File functionality,

In 2012 (date of the question) yes, not today. java.nio API has to be favored for such requirements.

Terrible with so many answers, but not the simple way that I would use that is Files.walk().filter().collect().

Globally two approaches are possible :

1)Files.walk(Path start, ) has no maxDepth limitations while

2)Files.walk(Path start, int maxDepth, FileVisitOption... options) allows to set it.

Without specifying any depth limitation, it would give :

Path directory = Paths.get("/foo/bar");

try {
    List<Path> directories =
            Files.walk(directory)
                 .filter(Files::isDirectory)
                 .collect(Collectors.toList());
} catch (IOException e) {
    // process exception
}

And if for legacy reasons, you need to get a List of File you can just add a map(Path::toFile) operation before the collect :

Path directory = Paths.get("/foo/bar");

try {
    List<File> directories =
            Files.walk(directory)
                 .filter(Files::isDirectory)
                 .map(Path::toFile)
                 .collect(Collectors.toList());
} catch (IOException e) {
    // process exception
}

How to define object in array in Mongoose schema correctly with 2d geo index

I had a similar issue with mongoose :

fields:
    [ '[object Object]',
     '[object Object]',
     '[object Object]',
     '[object Object]' ] }

In fact, I was using "type" as a property name in my schema :

fields: [
    {
      name: String,
      type: {
        type: String
      },
      registrationEnabled: Boolean,
      checkinEnabled: Boolean
    }
  ]

To avoid that behavior, you have to change the parameter to :

fields: [
    {
      name: String,
      type: {
        type: { type: String }
      },
      registrationEnabled: Boolean,
      checkinEnabled: Boolean
    }
  ]

Correct modification of state arrays in React.js

For added new element into the array, push() should be the answer.

For remove element and update state of array, below code works for me. splice(index, 1) can not work.

const [arrayState, setArrayState] = React.useState<any[]>([]);
...

// index is the index for the element you want to remove
const newArrayState = arrayState.filter((value, theIndex) => {return index !== theIndex});
setArrayState(newArrayState);

Table row and column number in jQuery

Off the top of my head, one way would be to grab all previous elements and count them.

$('td').click(function(){
    var colIndex = $(this).prevAll().length;
    var rowIndex = $(this).parent('tr').prevAll().length;
});

How do I remove a property from a JavaScript object?

The delete operator is used to remove properties from objects.

const obj = { foo: "bar" }
delete obj.foo
obj.hasOwnProperty("foo") // false

Note that, for arrays, this is not the same as removing an element. To remove an element from an array, use Array#splice or Array#pop. For example:

arr // [0, 1, 2, 3, 4]
arr.splice(3,1); // 3
arr // [0, 1, 2, 4]

Details

delete in JavaScript has a different function to that of the keyword in C and C++: it does not directly free memory. Instead, its sole purpose is to remove properties from objects.

For arrays, deleting a property corresponding to an index, creates a sparse array (ie. an array with a "hole" in it). Most browsers represent these missing array indices as "empty".

var array = [0, 1, 2, 3]
delete array[2] // [0, 1, empty, 3]

Note that delete does not relocate array[3] into array[2].

Different built-in functions in JavaScript handle sparse arrays differently.

  • for...in will skip the empty index completely.

  • A traditional for loop will return undefined for the value at the index.

  • Any method using Symbol.iterator will return undefined for the value at the index.

  • forEach, map and reduce will simply skip the missing index.

So, the delete operator should not be used for the common use-case of removing elements from an array. Arrays have a dedicated methods for removing elements and reallocating memory: Array#splice() and Array#pop.

Array#splice(start[, deleteCount[, item1[, item2[, ...]]]])

Array#splice mutates the array, and returns any removed indices. deleteCount elements are removed from index start, and item1, item2... itemN are inserted into the array from index start. If deleteCount is omitted then elements from startIndex are removed to the end of the array.

let a = [0,1,2,3,4]
a.splice(2,2) // returns the removed elements [2,3]
// ...and `a` is now [0,1,4]

There is also a similarly named, but different, function on Array.prototype: Array#slice.

Array#slice([begin[, end]])

Array#slice is non-destructive, and returns a new array containing the indicated indices from start to end. If end is left unspecified, it defaults to the end of the array. If end is positive, it specifies the zero-based non-inclusive index to stop at. If end is negative it, it specifies the index to stop at by counting back from the end of the array (eg. -1 will omit the final index). If end <= start, the result is an empty array.

let a = [0,1,2,3,4]
let slices = [
    a.slice(0,2),
    a.slice(2,2),
    a.slice(2,3),
    a.slice(2,5) ]

//   a           [0,1,2,3,4]
//   slices[0]   [0 1]- - -
//   slices[1]    - - - - -
//   slices[2]    - -[3]- -
//   slices[3]    - -[2 4 5]

Array#pop

Array#pop removes the last element from an array, and returns that element. This operation changes the length of the array.

alert() not working in Chrome

Take a look at this thread: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=4158

The problem is caused by javascript method "window.open(URL, windowName[, windowFeatures])". If the 3rd parameter windowFeatures is specified, then alert box doesn't work in the popup constrained window in Chrome, here is a simplified reduction:

http://go/reductions/4158/test-home-constrained.html

If the 3rd parameter windowFeatures is ignored, then alert box works in the popup in Chrome(the popup is actually opened as a new tab in Chrome), like this:

http://go/reductions/4158/test-home-newtab.html

it doesn't happen in IE7, Firefox3 or Safari3, it's a chrome specific issue.

See also attachments for simplified reductions

How to extend a class in python?

Use:

import color

class Color(color.Color):
    ...

If this were Python 2.x, you would also want to derive color.Color from object, to make it a new-style class:

class Color(object):
    ...

This is not necessary in Python 3.x.

Check if element is clickable in Selenium Java

There are certain things you have to take care:

  • WebDriverWait inconjunction with ExpectedConditions as elementToBeClickable() returns the WebElement once it is located and clickable i.e. visible and enabled.
  • In this process, WebDriverWait will ignore instances of NotFoundException that are encountered by default in the until condition.
  • Once the duration of the wait expires on the desired element not being located and clickable, will throw a timeout exception.
  • The different approach to address this issue are:
    • To invoke click() as soon as the element is returned, you can use:

      new WebDriverWait(driver, 10).until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.xpath("(//div[@id='brandSlider']/div[1]/div/div/div/img)[50]"))).click();

    • To simply validate if the element is located and clickable, wrap up the WebDriverWait in a try-catch{} block as follows:

      try {
             new WebDriverWait(driver, 10).until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.xpath("(//div[@id='brandSlider']/div[1]/div/div/div/img)[50]")));
             System.out.println("Element is clickable");
           }
      catch(TimeoutException e) {
             System.out.println("Element isn't clickable");
          }

    • If WebDriverWait returns the located and clickable element but the element is still not clickable, you need to invoke executeScript() method as follows:

      WebElement element = new WebDriverWait(driver, 10).until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.xpath("(//div[@id='brandSlider']/div[1]/div/div/div/img)[50]")));
      ((JavascriptExecutor)driver).executeScript("arguments[0].click();", element);

How can I add a custom HTTP header to ajax request with js or jQuery?

You should avoid the usage of $.ajaxSetup() as described in the docs. Use the following instead:

$(document).ajaxSend(function(event, jqXHR, ajaxOptions) {
    jqXHR.setRequestHeader('my-custom-header', 'my-value');
});

How to add parameters to HttpURLConnection using POST using NameValuePair

By using org.apache.http.client.HttpClient also you can easily do this with more readable way as below.

HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://www.yoursite.com/script.php");

Within try catch you can insert

// Add your data
List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(2);
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("id", "12345"));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringdata", "AndDev is Cool!"));
httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs));

// Execute HTTP Post Request
HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost);

Connecting to Postgresql in a docker container from outside

I tried to connect from localhost (mac) to a postgres container. I changed the port in the docker-compose file from 5432 to 3306 and started the container. No idea why I did it :|

Then I tried to connect to postgres via PSequel and adminer and the connection could not be established.

After switching back to port 5432 all works fine.

  db:
    image: postgres
    ports:
      - 5432:5432
    restart: always
    volumes:
      - "db_sql:/var/lib/mysql"
    environment:
      POSTGRES_USER: root
      POSTGRES_PASSWORD: password
      POSTGRES_DB: postgres_db

This was my experience I wanted to share. Perhaps someone can make use of it.

How does Junit @Rule work?

Rules are used to add additional functionality which applies to all tests within a test class, but in a more generic way.

For instance, ExternalResource executes code before and after a test method, without having to use @Before and @After. Using an ExternalResource rather than @Before and @After gives opportunities for better code reuse; the same rule can be used from two different test classes.

The design was based upon: Interceptors in JUnit

For more information see JUnit wiki : Rules.

Jquery checking success of ajax post

If you need a failure function, you can't use the $.get or $.post functions; you will need to call the $.ajax function directly. You pass an options object that can have "success" and "error" callbacks.

Instead of this:

$.post("/post/url.php", parameters, successFunction);

you would use this:

$.ajax({
    url: "/post/url.php",
    type: "POST",
    data: parameters,
    success: successFunction,
    error: errorFunction
});

There are lots of other options available too. The documentation lists all the options available.

Declaring a custom android UI element using XML

Thanks a lot for the first answer.

As for me, I had just one problem with it. When inflating my view, i had a bug : java.lang.NoSuchMethodException : MyView(Context, Attributes)

I resolved it by creating a new constructor :

public MyView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) {
     super(context, attrs);
     // some code
}

Hope this will help !

Toggle Class in React

You have to use the component's State to update component parameters such as Class Name if you want React to render your DOM correctly and efficiently.

UPDATE: I updated the example to toggle the Sidemenu on a button click. This is not necessary, but you can see how it would work. You might need to use "this.state" vs. "this.props" as I have shown. I'm used to working with Redux components.

constructor(props){
    super(props);
}

getInitialState(){
  return {"showHideSidenav":"hidden"};
}

render() {
    return (
        <div className="header">
            <i className="border hide-on-small-and-down"></i>
            <div className="container">
                <a ref="btn" onClick={this.toggleSidenav.bind(this)} href="#" className="btn-menu show-on-small"><i></i></a>
                <Menu className="menu hide-on-small-and-down"/>
                <Sidenav className={this.props.showHideSidenav}/>
            </div>
        </div>
    )
}

toggleSidenav() {
    var css = (this.props.showHideSidenav === "hidden") ? "show" : "hidden";
    this.setState({"showHideSidenav":css});
}

Now, when you toggle the state, the component will update and change the class name of the sidenav component. You can use CSS to show/hide the sidenav using the class names.

.hidden {
   display:none;
}
.show{
   display:block;
}

move a virtual machine from one vCenter to another vCenter

Copying the VM files onto an external HDD and then bringing it in to the destination will take a lot longer and requires multiple steps. Using vCenter Converter Standalone Client will do everything for you and is much faster. No external HDD required. Not sure where you got the cloning part from. vCenter Converter Standalone Client is simply copying the VM files by importing and exporting from source to destination, shutdown the source VM, then register the VM at destination and power on. All in one step. Takes about 1 min to set that up vCenter Converter Standalone Client.

How to enter a formula into a cell using VBA?

You aren't building your formula right.

Worksheets("EmployeeCosts").Range("B" & var1a).Formula =  "=SUM(H5:H" & var1a & ")"

This does the same as the following lines do:

Dim myFormula As String
myFormula = "=SUM(H5:H"
myFormula = myFormula & var1a
myformula = myformula & ")"

which is what you are trying to do.

Also, you want to have the = at the beginning of the formala.

How to get duration, as int milli's and float seconds from <chrono>?

In AAA style using the explicitly typed initializer idiom:

#include <chrono>
#include <iostream>

int main(){
  auto start = std::chrono::high_resolution_clock::now();
  // Code to time here...
  auto end = std::chrono::high_resolution_clock::now();

  auto dur = end - start;
  auto i_millis = std::chrono::duration_cast<std::chrono::milliseconds>(dur);
  auto f_secs = std::chrono::duration_cast<std::chrono::duration<float>>(dur);
  std::cout << i_millis.count() << '\n';
  std::cout << f_secs.count() << '\n';
}

Pass connection string to code-first DbContext

I have a little solution example for that problem.

MyDBContext.cs

 public MyDBContext(DBConnectionType ConnectionType) //: base("ConnMain")
  {
      if(ConnectionType==DBConnectionType.MainConnection)
       {
         this.Database.Connection.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnMain"].ConnectionString;
       }
      else if(ConnectionType==DBConnectionType.BackupConnection)
       {
         this.Database.Connection.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnBackup"].ConnectionString;
       }
  }

MyClass.cs

public enum DBConnectionType
 {
    MainConnection=0,
    BackupConnection=1
 }

frmMyForm.cs

 MyDBContext db = new MyDBContext(DBConnectionType.MainConnection);
                               //or
//MyDBContext db = new MyDBContext(DBConnectionType.BackupConnection);

Requery a subform from another form?

Just a comment on the method of accomplishing this:

You're making your EntryForm permanently tied to the form you're calling it from. I think it's better to not have forms tied to context like that. I'd remove the requery from the Save/Close routine and instead open the EntryForm modally, using the acDialog switch:

  DoCmd.OpenForm "EntryForm", , ,"[ID]=" & Me!SubForm.Form!ID, , acDialog
  Me!SubForm.Form.Requery

That way, EntryForm is not tied down to use in one context. The alternative is to complicate EntryForm with something that is knowledgable of which form opened it and what needs to requeried. I think it's better to keep that kind of thing as close to the context in which it's used, and keep the called form's code as simple as possible.

Perhaps a principle here is that any time you are requerying a form using the Forms collection from another form, it's a good indication something's not right about your architecture -- that should happen seldom, in my opinion.

What should I do if the current ASP.NET session is null?

If your Session instance is null and your in an 'ashx' file, just implement the 'IRequiresSessionState' interface.

This interface doesn't have any members so you just need to add the interface name after the class declaration (C#):

public class MyAshxClass : IHttpHandler, IRequiresSessionState

Add IIS 7 AppPool Identities as SQL Server Logons

You can solve like this,

  1. Open "Applications Pools",
  2. You should right click that you have choosed application pool. Then choose "Advanced Settings".
  3. Click three point on the Identity tab then you should choose "LocalSystem" from field of "Built-in-account"

If you do this way, you don't need to create a user in database.

SOAP Action WSDL

We put together Web Services on Windows Server and were trying to connect with PHP on Apache. We got the same error. The issue ended up being different versions of the Soap client on the different servers. Matching the SOAP versions in the options on both servers solved the issue in our case.

Get human readable version of file size?

This will do what you need in almost any situation, is customizable with optional arguments, and as you can see, is pretty much self-documenting:

from math import log
def pretty_size(n,pow=0,b=1024,u='B',pre=['']+[p+'i'for p in'KMGTPEZY']):
    pow,n=min(int(log(max(n*b**pow,1),b)),len(pre)-1),n*b**pow
    return "%%.%if %%s%%s"%abs(pow%(-pow-1))%(n/b**float(pow),pre[pow],u)

Example output:

>>> pretty_size(42)
'42 B'

>>> pretty_size(2015)
'2.0 KiB'

>>> pretty_size(987654321)
'941.9 MiB'

>>> pretty_size(9876543210)
'9.2 GiB'

>>> pretty_size(0.5,pow=1)
'512 B'

>>> pretty_size(0)
'0 B'

Advanced customizations:

>>> pretty_size(987654321,b=1000,u='bytes',pre=['','kilo','mega','giga'])
'987.7 megabytes'

>>> pretty_size(9876543210,b=1000,u='bytes',pre=['','kilo','mega','giga'])
'9.9 gigabytes'

This code is both Python 2 and Python 3 compatible. PEP8 compliance is an exercise for the reader. Remember, it's the output that's pretty.

Update:

If you need thousands commas, just apply the obvious extension:

def prettier_size(n,pow=0,b=1024,u='B',pre=['']+[p+'i'for p in'KMGTPEZY']):
    r,f=min(int(log(max(n*b**pow,1),b)),len(pre)-1),'{:,.%if} %s%s'
    return (f%(abs(r%(-r-1)),pre[r],u)).format(n*b**pow/b**float(r))

For example:

>>> pretty_units(987654321098765432109876543210)
'816,968.5 YiB'

wp_nav_menu change sub-menu class name?

You can just use a Hook

add_filter( 'nav_menu_submenu_css_class', 'some_function', 10, 3 );
function some_function( $classes, $args, $depth ){
    foreach ( $classes as $key => $class ) {
    if ( $class == 'sub-menu' ) {
        $classes[ $key ] = 'my-sub-menu';
    }
}

return $classes;
}

where

$classes(array) - The CSS classes that are applied to the menu <ul> element.
$args(stdClass) - An object of wp_nav_menu() arguments.
$depth(int) - Depth of menu item. Used for padding.

Private vs Protected - Visibility Good-Practice Concern

No, you're not on the right track. A good rule of thumb is: make everything as private as possible. This makes your class more encapsulated, and allows for changing the internals of the class without affecting the code using your class.

If you design your class to be inheritable, then carefully choose what may be overridden and accessible from subclasses, and make that protected (and final, talking of Java, if you want to make it accessible but not overridable). But be aware that, as soon as you accept to have subclasses of your class, and there is a protected field or method, this field or method is part of the public API of the class, and may not be changed later without breaking subclasses.

A class that is not intended to be inherited should be made final (in Java). You might relax some access rules (private to protected, final to non-final) for the sake of unit-testing, but then document it, and make it clear that although the method is protected, it's not supposed to be overridden.

C# Double - ToString() formatting with two decimal places but no rounding

I suggest you truncate first, and then format:

double a = 123.4567;
double aTruncated = Math.Truncate(a * 100) / 100;
CultureInfo ci = new CultureInfo("de-DE");
string s = string.Format(ci, "{0:0.00}%", aTruncated);

Use the constant 100 for 2 digits truncate; use a 1 followed by as many zeros as digits after the decimal point you would like. Use the culture name you need to adjust the formatting result.

How to generate random colors in matplotlib?

elaborating @john-mee 's answer, if you have arbitrarily long data but don't need strictly unique colors:

for python 2:

from itertools import cycle
cycol = cycle('bgrcmk')

for X,Y in data:
    scatter(X, Y, c=cycol.next())

for python 3:

from itertools import cycle
cycol = cycle('bgrcmk')

for X,Y in data:
    scatter(X, Y, c=next(cycol))

this has the advantage that the colors are easy to control and that it's short.

Dictionary returning a default value if the key does not exist

I know this is an old post and I do favor extension methods, but here's a simple class I use from time to time to handle dictionaries when I need default values.

I wish this were just part of the base Dictionary class.

public class DictionaryWithDefault<TKey, TValue> : Dictionary<TKey, TValue>
{
  TValue _default;
  public TValue DefaultValue {
    get { return _default; }
    set { _default = value; }
  }
  public DictionaryWithDefault() : base() { }
  public DictionaryWithDefault(TValue defaultValue) : base() {
    _default = defaultValue;
  }
  public new TValue this[TKey key]
  {
    get {
      TValue t;
      return base.TryGetValue(key, out t) ? t : _default;
    }
    set { base[key] = value; }
  }
}

Beware, however. By subclassing and using new (since override is not available on the native Dictionary type), if a DictionaryWithDefault object is upcast to a plain Dictionary, calling the indexer will use the base Dictionary implementation (throwing an exception if missing) rather than the subclass's implementation.

How to mock void methods with Mockito

First of all: you should always import mockito static, this way the code will be much more readable (and intuitive):

import static org.mockito.Mockito.*;

For partial mocking and still keeping original functionality on the rest mockito offers "Spy".

You can use it as follows:

private World world = spy(new World());

To eliminate a method from being executed you could use something like this:

doNothing().when(someObject).someMethod(anyObject());

to give some custom behaviour to a method use "when" with an "thenReturn":

doReturn("something").when(this.world).someMethod(anyObject());

For more examples please find the excellent mockito samples in the doc.

How can I get the current contents of an element in webdriver

addEventListener, "change" and option selection

The problem is that you used the select option, this is where you went wrong. Select signifies that a textbox or textArea has a focus. What you need to do is use change. "Fires when a new choice is made in a select element", also used like blur when moving away from a textbox or textArea.

function start(){
      document.getElementById("activitySelector").addEventListener("change", addActivityItem, false);
      }

function addActivityItem(){
      //option is selected
      alert("yeah");
}

PhoneGap Eclipse Issue - eglCodecCommon glUtilsParamSize: unknow param errors

@theczechsensation's solution is already half way there.

For those who like to exclude noisy log messages and keep the log to their app only this is the solution:

New Logcat Filter Settings

Add your exclusions to Log Tag like this: ^(?!(eglCodecCommon|tagToExclude))

Add your package name or prefix to Package Name: com.mycompany.

This way it is possible to filter for as many strings you like and keep the log to your package.

Order by in Inner Join

I found this to be an issue when joining but you might find this blog useful in understanding how Joins work in the back. How Joins Work..

[Edited] @Shree Thank you for pointing that out. On the paragraph of Merge Join. It mentions on how joins work...

Like hash join, merge join consists of two steps. First, both tables of the join are sorted on the join attribute. This can be done with just two passes through each table via an external merge sort. Finally, the result tuples are generated as the next ordered element is pulled from each table and the join attributes are compared

.

Generate a unique id

If you want to use sha-256 (guid would be faster) then you would need to do something like

SHA256 shaAlgorithm = new SHA256Managed();
byte[] shaDigest = shaAlgorithm.ComputeHash(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(url));
return BitConverter.ToString(shaDigest);

Of course, it doesn't have to ascii and it can be any other kind of hashing algorithm as well

How do I initialize the base (super) class?

As of python 3.5.2, you can use:

class C(B):
def method(self, arg):

                           # super(C, self).method(arg)

Is it possible to refresh a single UITableViewCell in a UITableView?

Just to update these answers slightly with the new literal syntax in iOS 6--you can use Paths = @[indexPath] for a single object, or Paths = @[indexPath1, indexPath2,...] for multiple objects.

Personally, I've found the literal syntax for arrays and dictionaries to be immensely useful and big time savers. It's just easier to read, for one thing. And it removes the need for a nil at the end of any multi-object list, which has always been a personal bugaboo. We all have our windmills to tilt with, yes? ;-)

Just thought I'd throw this into the mix. Hope it helps.

Convert String to Carbon

You were almost there.

Remove protected $dates = ['license_expire']

and then change your LicenseExpire accessor to:

public function getLicenseExpireAttribute($date)
{
    return Carbon::parse($date);
}

This way it will return a Carbon instance no matter what. So for your form you would just have $employee->license_expire->format('Y-m-d') (or whatever format is required) and diffForHumans() should work on your home page as well.

How to check if ZooKeeper is running or up from command prompt?

I did some test:

When it's running:

$ /usr/lib/zookeeper/bin/zkServer.sh status
JMX enabled by default
Using config: /usr/lib/zookeeper/bin/../conf/zoo.cfg
Mode: follower

When it's stopped:

$ zkServer status

How do I add a project as a dependency of another project?

Assuming the MyEjbProject is not another Maven Project you own or want to build with maven, you could use system dependencies to link to the existing jar file of the project like so

<project>
   ...
   <dependencies>
      <dependency>
         <groupId>yourgroup</groupId>
         <artifactId>myejbproject</artifactId>
         <version>2.0</version>
         <scope>system</scope>
         <systemPath>path/to/myejbproject.jar</systemPath>
      </dependency>
   </dependencies>
   ...
</project>

That said it is usually the better (and preferred way) to install the package to the repository either by making it a maven project and building it or installing it the way you already seem to do.

If they are, however, dependent on each other, you can always create a separate parent project (has to be a "pom" project) declaring the two other projects as its "modules". (The child projects would not have to declare the third project as their parent). As a consequence you'd get a new directory for the new parent project, where you'd also quite probably put the two independent projects like this:

parent
|- pom.xml
|- MyEJBProject
|   `- pom.xml
`- MyWarProject
    `- pom.xml

The parent project would get a "modules" section to name all the child modules. The aggregator would then use the dependencies in the child modules to actually find out the order in which the projects are to be built)

<project>
   ...
   <artifactId>myparentproject</artifactId>
   <groupId>...</groupId>
   <version>...</version>

   <packaging>pom</packaging>
   ...
   <modules>
     <module>MyEJBModule</module>
     <module>MyWarModule</module>
   </modules>
   ...
</project>

That way the projects can relate to each other but (once they are installed in the local repository) still be used independently as artifacts in other projects

Finally, if your projects are not in related directories, you might try to give them as relative modules:

filesystem
 |- mywarproject
 |   `pom.xml
 |- myejbproject
 |   `pom.xml
 `- parent
     `pom.xml

now you could just do this (worked in maven 2, just tried it):

<!--parent-->
<project>
  <modules>
    <module>../mywarproject</module>
    <module>../myejbproject</module>
  </modules>
</project>

php pdo: get the columns name of a table

There is no need to do a secondary query. Just use the built in oci_field_name() function:

Here is an example:

oci_execute($stid);                  //This executes

    echo "<table border='1'>\n";
    $ncols = oci_num_fields($stid);
    echo "<tr>";
    for ($i = 1; $i <= $ncols; $i++) {
            $column_name  = oci_field_name($stid, $i);
            echo "<td>$column_name</td>";
    }
    echo "</tr>";

    while ($row = oci_fetch_array($stid, OCI_ASSOC+OCI_RETURN_NULLS)) {
            echo "<tr>\n";
            foreach ($row as $item) {
                    echo "    <td>" . ($item !== null ? htmlentities($item, ENT_QUOTES) : "&nbsp;") . "</td>\n";
            }
            echo "</tr>\n";
    }
    echo "</table>\n";

Classes residing in App_Code is not accessible

Put this at the top of the other files where you want to access the class:

using CLIck10.App_Code;

OR access the class from other files like this:

CLIck10.App_Code.Glob

Not sure if that's your issue or not but if you were new to C# then this is an easy one to get tripped up on.

Update: I recently found that if I add an App_Code folder to a project, then I must close/reopen Visual Studio for it to properly recognize this "special" folder.

What is the format for the PostgreSQL connection string / URL?

Here is the documentation for JDBC, the general URL is "jdbc:postgresql://host:port/database"

Chapter 3 here documents the ADO.NET connection string, the general connection string is Server=host;Port=5432;User Id=username;Password=secret;Database=databasename;

PHP documentation us here, the general connection string is host=hostname port=5432 dbname=databasename user=username password=secret

If you're using something else, you'll have to tell us.

Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061) (2003)

I encountered a similar problem. I am using WinNMP. When I started it, MariaDB was also not running and prompts "Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061) (2003)" whenever I try to connect to a database.

Just want to help. For WinNMP users like me, this worked for me:

  1. Run msyqld installer located at "C:\WinNMP\bin\MariaDB\bin".
  2. Restart your WinNMP.
  3. MariaDB should be running now.

Hope this helps someone! :D

Should I use past or present tense in git commit messages?

It is up to you. Just use the commit message as you wish. But it is easier if you are not switching between times and languages.

And if you develop in a team - it should be discussed and set fixed.

What is the apply function in Scala?

Mathematicians have their own little funny ways, so instead of saying "then we call function f passing it x as a parameter" as we programmers would say, they talk about "applying function f to its argument x".

In mathematics and computer science, Apply is a function that applies functions to arguments.
Wikipedia

apply serves the purpose of closing the gap between Object-Oriented and Functional paradigms in Scala. Every function in Scala can be represented as an object. Every function also has an OO type: for instance, a function that takes an Int parameter and returns an Int will have OO type of Function1[Int,Int].

 // define a function in scala
 (x:Int) => x + 1

 // assign an object representing the function to a variable
 val f = (x:Int) => x + 1

Since everything is an object in Scala f can now be treated as a reference to Function1[Int,Int] object. For example, we can call toString method inherited from Any, that would have been impossible for a pure function, because functions don't have methods:

  f.toString

Or we could define another Function1[Int,Int] object by calling compose method on f and chaining two different functions together:

 val f2 = f.compose((x:Int) => x - 1)

Now if we want to actually execute the function, or as mathematician say "apply a function to its arguments" we would call the apply method on the Function1[Int,Int] object:

 f2.apply(2)

Writing f.apply(args) every time you want to execute a function represented as an object is the Object-Oriented way, but would add a lot of clutter to the code without adding much additional information and it would be nice to be able to use more standard notation, such as f(args). That's where Scala compiler steps in and whenever we have a reference f to a function object and write f (args) to apply arguments to the represented function the compiler silently expands f (args) to the object method call f.apply (args).

Every function in Scala can be treated as an object and it works the other way too - every object can be treated as a function, provided it has the apply method. Such objects can be used in the function notation:

// we will be able to use this object as a function, as well as an object
object Foo {
  var y = 5
  def apply (x: Int) = x + y
}

Foo (1) // using Foo object in function notation

There are many usage cases when we would want to treat an object as a function. The most common scenario is a factory pattern. Instead of adding clutter to the code using a factory method we can apply object to a set of arguments to create a new instance of an associated class:

List(1,2,3) // same as List.apply(1,2,3) but less clutter, functional notation

// the way the factory method invocation would have looked
// in other languages with OO notation - needless clutter
List.instanceOf(1,2,3)

So apply method is just a handy way of closing the gap between functions and objects in Scala.

The cast to value type 'Int32' failed because the materialized value is null

A linq-to-sql query isn't executed as code, but rather translated into SQL. Sometimes this is a "leaky abstraction" that yields unexpected behaviour.

One such case is null handling, where there can be unexpected nulls in different places. ...DefaultIfEmpty(0).Sum(0) can help in this (quite simple) case, where there might be no elements and sql's SUM returns null whereas c# expect 0.

A more general approach is to use ?? which will be translated to COALESCE whenever there is a risk that the generated SQL returns an unexpected null:

var creditsSum = (from u in context.User
              join ch in context.CreditHistory on u.ID equals ch.UserID
              where u.ID == userID
              select (int?)ch.Amount).Sum() ?? 0;

This first casts to int? to tell the C# compiler that this expression can indeed return null, even though Sum() returns an int. Then we use the normal ?? operator to handle the null case.

Based on this answer, I wrote a blog post with details for both LINQ to SQL and LINQ to Entities.

How do I change an HTML selected option using JavaScript?

Your own answer technically wasn't incorrect, but you got the index wrong since indexes start at 0, not 1. That's why you got the wrong selection.

document.getElementById('personlist').getElementsByTagName('option')[**10**].selected = 'selected';

Also, your answer is actually a good one for cases where the tags aren't entirely English or numeric.

If they use, for example, Asian characters, the other solutions telling you to use .value() may not always function and will just not do anything. Selecting by tag is a good way to ignore the actual text and select by the element itself.

How can I initialise a static Map?

Even with Guava's nice ImmutableMap class, sometimes I'd like to build a mutable map fluently. Finding myself wanting to avoid static blocks & the anonymous subtype thing, when Java 8 came along I wrote a tiny library to help called Fluent.

// simple usage, assuming someMap is a Map<String, String> already declared
Map<String, String> example = new Fluent.HashMap<String, String>()
    .append("key1", "val1")
    .append("key2", "val2")
    .appendAll(someMap);

With Java 8 interface defaulting I could implement the Fluent.Map methods for all standard Java Map implementations (ie HashMap, ConcurrentSkipListMap, ... etc) without tedious repetition.

Unmodifiable maps are simple too.

Map<String, Integer> immutable = new Fluent.LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>()
    .append("one", 1)
    .append("two", 2)
    .append("three", 3)
    .unmodifiable();

See https://github.com/alexheretic/fluent for source, documentation and examples.

Multiple Python versions on the same machine?

I think it is totally independent. Just install them, then you have the commands e.g. /usr/bin/python2.5 and /usr/bin/python2.6. Link /usr/bin/python to the one you want to use as default.

All the libraries are in separate folders (named after the version) anyway.

If you want to compile the versions manually, this is from the readme file of the Python source code:

Installing multiple versions

On Unix and Mac systems if you intend to install multiple versions of Python using the same installation prefix (--prefix argument to the configure script) you must take care that your primary python executable is not overwritten by the installation of a different version. All files and directories installed using "make altinstall" contain the major and minor version and can thus live side-by-side. "make install" also creates ${prefix}/bin/python3 which refers to ${prefix}/bin/pythonX.Y. If you intend to install multiple versions using the same prefix you must decide which version (if any) is your "primary" version. Install that version using "make install". Install all other versions using "make altinstall".

For example, if you want to install Python 2.5, 2.6 and 3.0 with 2.6 being the primary version, you would execute "make install" in your 2.6 build directory and "make altinstall" in the others.

"SELECT ... IN (SELECT ...)" query in CodeIgniter

Look here.

Basically you have to do bind params:

$sql = "SELECT username FROM users WHERE locationid IN (SELECT locationid FROM locations WHERE countryid=?)";

$this->db->query($sql, '__COUNTRY_NAME__');

But, like Mr.E said, use joins:

$sql = "select username from users inner join locations on users.locationid = locations.locationid where countryid = ?";

$this->db->query($sql, '__COUNTRY_NAME__');

adb command not found

in my case I added the following line in my terminal:

export PATH="/Users/Username/Library/Android/sdk/platform-tools":$PATH

make sure that you replace "username" with YOUR user name.

hit enter then type 'adb' to see if the error is gone. if it is, this is what you should see: Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.40

...followed by a bunch of commands..and ending with this: $ADB_TRACE comma-separated list of debug info to log: all,adb,sockets,packets,rwx,usb,sync,sysdeps,transport,jdwp $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS colon-separated list of keys (files or directories) $ANDROID_SERIAL serial number to connect to (see -s) $ANDROID_LOG_TAGS tags to be used by logcat (see logcat --help)

if you get that, run npm run android again and it should work..

When to use references vs. pointers

The performances are exactly the same, as references are implemented internally as pointers. Thus you do not need to worry about that.

There is no generally accepted convention regarding when to use references and pointers. In a few cases you have to return or accept references (copy constructor, for instance), but other than that you are free to do as you wish. A rather common convention I've encountered is to use references when the parameter must refer an existing object and pointers when a NULL value is ok.

Some coding convention (like Google's) prescribe that one should always use pointers, or const references, because references have a bit of unclear-syntax: they have reference behaviour but value syntax.

alternative to "!is.null()" in R

I have also seen:

if(length(obj)) {
  # do this if object has length
  # NULL has no length
}

I don't think it's great though. Because some vectors can be of length 0. character(0), logical(0), integer(0) and that might be treated as a NULL instead of an error.

How to get the range of occupied cells in excel sheet

These two lines on their own wasnt working for me:

xlWorkSheet.Columns.ClearFormats();
xlWorkSheet.Rows.ClearFormats();

You can test by hitting ctrl+end in the sheet and seeing which cell is selected.

I found that adding this line after the first two solved the problem in all instances I've encountered:

Excel.Range xlActiveRange = WorkSheet.UsedRange;

Why doesn't indexOf work on an array IE8?

You can use this to replace the function if it doesn't exist:

<script>
if (!Array.prototype.indexOf) {
    Array.prototype.indexOf = function(elt /*, from*/) {
        var len = this.length >>> 0;

        var from = Number(arguments[1]) || 0;
        from = (from < 0) ? Math.ceil(from) : Math.floor(from);
        if (from < 0)
            from += len;

        for (; from < len; from++) {
            if (from in this && this[from] === elt)
                return from;
        }
        return -1;
    };
}

"call to undefined function" error when calling class method

Mates,

I stumbled upon this error today while testing a simple script. I am not using "class" function though so it take it with grain of salt. I was calling function before its definition & declaration ...something like this

      try{
             foo();
         }
       catch (exception $e)
           {
            echo "$e->getMessage()";
           }

       function foo(){
                       echo "blah blah blah";
                     }

so php was throwing me error "call to undefined function ".

This kinda seem classic programming error but may help someone in need of clue.

What are the differences between a clustered and a non-clustered index?

// Copied from MSDN, the second point of non-clustered index is not clearly mentioned in the other answers.

Clustered

  • Clustered indexes sort and store the data rows in the table or view based on their key values. These are the columns included in the index definition. There can be only one clustered index per table, because the data rows themselves can be stored in only one order.
  • The only time the data rows in a table are stored in sorted order is when the table contains a clustered index. When a table has a clustered index, the table is called a clustered table. If a table has no clustered index, its data rows are stored in an unordered structure called a heap.

Nonclustered

  • Nonclustered indexes have a structure separate from the data rows. A nonclustered index contains the nonclustered index key values and
    each key value entry has a pointer to the data row that contains the key value.
  • The pointer from an index row in a nonclustered index to a data row is called a row locator. The structure of the row locator depends on whether the data pages are stored in a heap or a clustered table. For a heap, a row locator is a pointer to the row. For a clustered table, the row locator is the clustered index key.

How to validate numeric values which may contain dots or commas?

\d{1,2}[,.]\d{1,2}

\d means a digit, the {1,2} part means 1 or 2 of the previous character (\d in this case) and the [,.] part means either a comma or dot.

Get ALL User Friends Using Facebook Graph API - Android

In v2.0 of the Graph API, calling /me/friends returns the person's friends who also use the app.

In addition, in v2.0, you must request the user_friends permission from each user. user_friends is no longer included by default in every login. Each user must grant the user_friends permission in order to appear in the response to /me/friends. See the Facebook upgrade guide for more detailed information, or review the summary below.

The /me/friendlists endpoint and user_friendlists permission are not what you're after. This endpoint does not return the users friends - its lets you access the lists a person has made to organize their friends. It does not return the friends in each of these lists. This API and permission is useful to allow you to render a custom privacy selector when giving people the opportunity to publish back to Facebook.

If you want to access a list of non-app-using friends, there are two options:

  1. If you want to let your people tag their friends in stories that they publish to Facebook using your App, you can use the /me/taggable_friends API. Use of this endpoint requires review by Facebook and should only be used for the case where you're rendering a list of friends in order to let the user tag them in a post.

  2. If your App is a Game AND your Game supports Facebook Canvas, you can use the /me/invitable_friends endpoint in order to render a custom invite dialog, then pass the tokens returned by this API to the standard Requests Dialog.

In other cases, apps are no longer able to retrieve the full list of a user's friends (only those friends who have specifically authorized your app using the user_friends permission).

For apps wanting allow people to invite friends to use an app, you can still use the Send Dialog on Web or the new Message Dialog on iOS and Android.

How to insert logo with the title of a HTML page?

Are you referring to the favicon?

Upload a 16x16px ico to your site, and link it in your head section.

What's the difference between getRequestURI and getPathInfo methods in HttpServletRequest?

Consider the following servlet conf:

   <servlet>
        <servlet-name>NewServlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>NewServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>NewServlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/NewServlet/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

Now, when I hit the URL http://localhost:8084/JSPTemp1/NewServlet/jhi, it will invoke NewServlet as it is mapped with the pattern described above.

Here:

getRequestURI() =  /JSPTemp1/NewServlet/jhi
getPathInfo() = /jhi

We have those ones:

  • getPathInfo()

    returns
    a String, decoded by the web container, specifying extra path information that comes after the servlet path but before the query string in the request URL; or null if the URL does not have any extra path information

  • getRequestURI()

    returns
    a String containing the part of the URL from the protocol name up to the query string

How to do multiple arguments to map function where one remains the same in python?

def func(a, b, c, d):

It complains because it needs to use ssh instead of https but your git is still configured with https. so basically as others mentioned previously you need to either enable prompts or to configure git to use ssh instead of https. a simple way to do this by running the following:

git config --global --add url."[email protected]:".insteadOf "https://github.com/"

or if you already use ssh with git in your machine, you can safely edit ~/.gitconfig and add the following line at the very bottom

Also, more importantly, if this is a private repository for a company or for your self, you may need to skip using proxy or checksum database for such repos to avoid exposing them publicly.

To do this, you need to set GOPRIVATE environment variable that controls which modules the go command considers to be private (not available publicly) and should therefore NOT use the proxy or checksum database.

The variable is a comma-separated list of patterns (same syntax of Go's path.Match) of module path prefixes. For example,

export GOPRIVATE=*.corp.example.com,github.com/mycompany/*

Or

go env -w GOPRIVATE=github.com/mycompany/*
  • For more information on how to solve private packages/modules checksum validation issues, please read this article.
  • For more information about go 13 modules and new enhancements, please check out Go 1.13 Modules Release notes.

One last thing not to forget to mention, you can still configure go get to authenticate and fetch over https, all you need to do is to add the following line to $HOME/.netrc

machine github.com login USERNAME password APIKEY
  • For GitHub accounts, the password can be a personal access tokens.
  • For more information on how to do this, please check Go FAQ page.

I hope this helps the community and saves others' time to solve described issues quickly. please feel free to leave a comment in case you want more support or help.

Stylesheet not loaded because of MIME-type

In my case the problem was solved just after changing the random value in the .scss file. After reloading the problem disappeared and the styles began to load well. Simple, but works :P

How do I invert BooleanToVisibilityConverter?

If you don't like writing custom converter, you could use data triggers to solve this:

<Style.Triggers>
        <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding YourBinaryOption}" Value="True">
                 <Setter Property="Visibility" Value="Visible" />
        </DataTrigger>
        <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding YourBinaryOption}" Value="False">
                 <Setter Property="Visibility" Value="Collapsed" />
        </DataTrigger>
</Style.Triggers>

How do I set default terminal to terminator?

The only way that worked for me was

  1. Open nautilus or nemo as root user gksudo nautilus
  2. Go to /usr/bin
  3. Change name of your default terminal to any other name for exemple "orig_gnome-terminal"
  4. rename your favorite terminal as "gnome-terminal"

Leave menu bar fixed on top when scrolled

same as adamb but I would add a dynamic variable num

num = $('.menuFlotante').offset().top;

to get the exact offset or position inside the window to avoid finding the right position.

 $(window).bind('scroll', function() {
         if ($(window).scrollTop() > num) {
             $('.menu').addClass('fixed');
         }
         else {
             num = $('.menuFlotante').offset().top;
             $('.menu').removeClass('fixed');
         }
    });

How to disable button in React.js

There are few typical methods how we control components render in React. enter image description here

But, I haven't used any of these in here, I just used the ref's to namespace underlying children to the component.

class AddItem extends React.Component {_x000D_
