When I worked on Mac OS X in the lab I was able to get the terminal colors from using Terminal (rather than X11) and then editing the profile (from the Mac menu bar). The interface is a bit odd on the colors, but you have to set the modified theme as default.

As far as best practices, keep an eye for recursive functions. In my case I ran into issues with recursion (where there didn't need to be). A simplified example of what I was doing:

Assuming you want to throw away any changes you have, first check the output of git status. For any file that says "unmerged" next to it, run git add <unmerged file>. Then follow up with git reset --hard. That will git rid of any local changes except for untracked files.

The easiest way I have found is to dump the database to a text file, run a sed command to do the replace, and reload the database back into MySQL.

You actually can switch on enums, but you can't switch on Strings until Java 7. You might consider using polymorphic method dispatch with Java enums rather than an explicit switch. Note that enums are objects in Java, not just symbols for ints like they are in C/C++. You can have a method on an enum type, then instead of writing a switch, just call the method - one line of code: done!

Don't know for sure, but it sounds like it is still submitting. I quick solution would be to change your (guessing at your code here):

To reflect the status as of 2015:

Behaviorally both 400 and 422 response codes will be treated the same by clients and intermediaries, so it actually doesn't make a concrete difference which you use.

TCP / HTTP Listening On Ports: How Can Many Users Share the Same Port

So, what happens when a server listen for incoming connections on a TCP port? For example, let's say you have a web-server on port 80. Let's assume that your computer has the public IP address of 24.14.181.229 and the person that tries to connect to you has IP address 10.1.2.3. This person can connect to you by opening a TCP socket to 24.14.181.229:80. Simple enough.

Intuitively (and wrongly), most people assume that it looks something like this:

    Local Computer    | Remote Computer
    --------------------------------
    <local_ip>:80     | <foreign_ip>:80

    ^^ not actually what happens, but this is the conceptual model a lot of people have in mind.

This is intuitive, because from the standpoint of the client, he has an IP address, and connects to a server at IP:PORT. Since the client connects to port 80, then his port must be 80 too? This is a sensible thing to think, but actually not what happens. If that were to be correct, we could only serve one user per foreign IP address. Once a remote computer connects, then he would hog the port 80 to port 80 connection, and no one else could connect.

Three things must be understood:

1.) On a server, a process is listening on a port. Once it gets a connection, it hands it off to another thread. The communication never hogs the listening port.

2.) Connections are uniquely identified by the OS by the following 5-tuple: (local-IP, local-port, remote-IP, remote-port, protocol). If any element in the tuple is different, then this is a completely independent connection.

3.) When a client connects to a server, it picks a random, unused high-order source port. This way, a single client can have up to ~64k connections to the server for the same destination port.

So, this is really what gets created when a client connects to a server:

First, let's use netstat to see what is happening on this computer. We will use port 500 instead of 80 (because a whole bunch of stuff is happening on port 80 as it is a common port, but functionally it does not make a difference).

As expected, the output is blank. Now let's start a web server:

Now, here is the output of running netstat again:

So now there is one process that is actively listening (State: LISTEN) on port 500. The local address is 0.0.0.0, which is code for "listening for all". An easy mistake to make is to listen on address 127.0.0.1, which will only accept connections from the current computer. So this is not a connection, this just means that a process requested to bind() to port IP, and that process is responsible for handling all connections to that port. This hints to the limitation that there can only be one process per computer listening on a port (there are ways to get around that using multiplexing, but this is a much more complicated topic). If a web-server is listening on port 80, it cannot share that port with other web-servers.

So now, let's connect a user to our machine:

CMake (Cross platform make) is a build system generator. It doesn't build your source, instead, generates what a build system needs: the build scripts. Doing so you don't need to write or maintain platform specific build files. CMake uses relatively high level CMake language which usually written in CMakeLists.txt files. Your general workflow when consuming third party libraries usually boils down the following commands:

The first line known as configuration step, this generates the build files on your system. -S(ource) is the library source, and -B(uild) folder. CMake falls back to generate build according to your system. it will be MSBuild on Windows, GNU Makefiles on Linux. You can specify the build using -G(enerator) paramater, like:

end of the this step, generates build scripts, like Makefile, *.sln files etc. on build directory.

The second line invokes the actual build command, it's like invoking make on the build folder.

The third line install the library. If you're on Windows, you can quickly open generated project by, cmake --open build.

I had the very same issue, not being able to instantiate the type of a class which I was absolutely sure was not abstract. Turns out I was implementing an abstract class from Java.util instead of implementing my own class.

So if the previous answers did not help you, please check that you import the class you actually wanted to import, and not something else with the same name that you IDE might have hinted you.

For example, if you were trying to instantiate the class Queue from the package myCollections which you coded yourself :

There is a fresh answer to that question now. SWIG, as of version 3.0 seems to provide javascript interface generators for Node.js, Webkit and v8.

I've been using SWIG extensively for Java and Python for a while, and once you understand how SWIG works, there is almost no effort(compared to ffi or the equivalent in the target language) needed for interfacing C++ code to the languages that SWIG supports.

As a small example, say you have a library with the header myclass.h:

I noticed that when it's set to false, I'm able to see the value of an item using the debugger. When it was set to true, I was getting an error - item.FullName.GetValue The embedded interop type 'FullName' does not contain a definition for 'QBFC11Lib.IItemInventoryRet' since it was not used in the compiled assembly. Consider casting to object or changing the 'Embed Interop Types' property to true.

As perhaps one of the older people here, and born late in the month, I find drop-down menus for birthdates to be frustrating. I typically have to scroll down on two drop-down menus, and that's awkward. I'd much rather type it in.

If you can have a control designed so that it can either accept drop-down menus or be typed into, and make it clear both work, that would be excellent.

It seems like you can also use the patch command. Put the diff in the root of the repository and run patch from the command line.

TCPView (Windows only) from Windows Sysinternals is my favorite app whenever I have a JVM_BIND error. It shows which processes are listening on which port. It also provides a convenient context menu to either kill the process or close the connection that is getting in the way.

The reason for the exception is that an integer does not hold rational numbers (= basically fractions). So, trying to parse 0.3 to a int is nonsense. A double or a float datatype can hold rational numbers.

The way Java casts a double to an int is done by removing the part after the decimal separator by rounding towards zero.

Simply casting to an int truncates the float, which if your system internally represent 2.0 as 1.9999999999, you will not get what you expect. Usually that will give you the top view, but there's no guarantee that it's visible to the user. It could be off the screen, have an alpha of 0.0, or could be have size of 0x0 for example.

It could also be that the keyWindow has no subviews, so you should probably test for that first. This would be unusual, but it's not impossible.

UIWindow is a subclass of UIView, so if you want to make sure your notification is visible to the user, you can add it directly to the keyWindow using addSubview: and it will instantly be the top most view. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking to do though. (Based on your question, it looks like you already know this.)

The solution to solve this is to find out why you're getting the segmentation fault, and fix that.

Since you aren't doing any aggregation, you don't want a GROUP BY in your query. Are you really sure that you need the DISTINCT? People often throw that in haphazardly or add it when they are missing a join condition rather than considering whether it is really necessary to do the extra work to identify and remove duplicates.

It is not good practice to save the value that is returned from JSON.stringify(userData) to a cookie; it can lead to a bug in some browsers.

I am just going to touch on overcoming the trade-off of regular adjacency list representation, since other answers have covered other aspects.

It is possible to represent a graph in adjacency list with EdgeExists query in amortized constant time, by taking advantage of Dictionary and HashSet data structures. The idea is to keep vertices in a dictionary, and for each vertex, we keep a hash set referencing to other vertices it has edges with.

One minor trade-off in this implementation is that it will have space complexity O(V + 2E) instead of O(V + E) as in regular adjacency list, since edges are represented twice here (because each vertex have its own hash set of edges). But operations such as AddVertex, AddEdge, RemoveEdge can be done in amortized time O(1) with this implementation, except for RemoveVertex which takes O(V) like adjacency matrix. This would mean that other than implementation simplicity, adjacency matrix don't have any specific advantage. We can save space on sparse graph with almost the same performance in this adjacency list implementation.

Take a look at implementations below in Github C# repository for details. Note that for weighted graph it uses a nested dictionary instead of dictionary-hash set combination so as to accommodate weight value. Similarly for directed graph there is separate hash sets for in & out edges.

Advanced-Algorithms

Note: I believe using lazy deletion we can further optimize RemoveVertex operation to O(1) amortized, even though I haven't tested that idea. For example, upon deletion just mark the vertex as deleted in dictionary, and then lazily clear orphaned edges during other operations.

Old question, but my solution is a bit different.

I was writing a single page web app that was constantly making ajax calls triggered by the user, and to make it even more difficult it required libraries that used methods other than jquery (like dojo, native xhr, etc). I wrote a plugin for one of my own libraries to cache ajax requests as efficiently as possible in a way that would work in all major browsers, regardless of which libraries were being used to make the ajax call.

The solution uses jSQL (written by me - a client-side persistent SQL implementation written in javascript which uses indexeddb and other dom storage methods), and is bundled with another library called XHRCreep (written by me) which is a complete re-write of the native XHR object.

To implement all you need to do is include the plugin in your page, which is here.

There are two options:

jSQL.xhrCache.max_time = 60;

Set the maximum age in minutes. any cached responses that are older than this are re-requested. Default is 1 hour.

jSQL.xhrCache.logging = true;

When set to true, mock XHR calls will be shown in the console for debugging.

You can clear the cache on any given page via

I've seen issues with some cmdlets (specifically enable/disable UMmailbox) not working with just the snapin loaded.

In Exchange 2010, they basically don't support using Powershell outside of the the implicit remoting environment of an actual EMS shell.

To use await/async you need methods that return promises. The core API functions don't do that without wrappers like promisify:

If you just need to test some of the concrete methods without touching any of the abstracts, you can use CALLS_REAL_METHODS (see Morten's answer), but if the concrete method under test calls some of the abstracts, or unimplemented interface methods, this won't work -- Mockito will complain "Cannot call real method on java interface."

(Yes, it's a lousy design, but some frameworks, e.g. Tapestry 4, kind of force it on you.)

The workaround is to reverse this approach -- use the ordinary mock behavior (i.e., everything's mocked/stubbed) and use doCallRealMethod() to explicitly call out the concrete method under test. E.g.

I see this thread has been inactive for a while, but this topic interested me and now with some CSS3 selectors, this just became easier (and pretty doable with only CSS).

This solution relies on having a max height of the table container. But it is supported as long as you can use the :first-child selector.

Ruby doesn't like that you are assigning the constant inside of a method because it risks re-assignment. Several SO answers before me give the alternative of assigning it outside of a method--but in the class, which is a better place to assign it.

I do not think the above answer is "wrong" but there are large areas of authentication that are not touched upon (or rather the emphasis is on "how to implement cookie sessions", not on "what options are available and what are the trade-offs".

My suggested edits/answers are

• The problem lies more in account setup than in password checking.
• The use of two-factor authentication is much more secure than more clever means of password encryption

• Do NOT try to implement your own login form or database storage of passwords, unless the data being stored is valueless at account creation and self-generated (that is, web 2.0 style like Facebook, Flickr, etc.)

  1. Digest Authentication is a standards-based approach supported in all major browsers and servers, that will not send a password even over a secure channel.

This avoids any need to have "sessions" or cookies as the browser itself will re-encrypt the communication each time. It is the most "lightweight" development approach.

However, I do not recommend this, except for public, low-value services. This is an issue with some of the other answers above - do not try an re-implement server-side authentication mechanisms - this problem has been solved and is supported by most major browsers. Do not use cookies. Do not store anything in your own hand-rolled database. Just ask, per request, if the request is authenticated. Everything else should be supported by configuration and third-party trusted software.

So ...

First, we are confusing the initial creation of an account (with a password) with the re-checking of the password subsequently. If I am Flickr and creating your site for the first time, the new user has access to zero value (blank web space). I truly do not care if the person creating the account is lying about their name. If I am creating an account of the hospital intranet/extranet, the value lies in all the medical records, and so I do care about the identity (*) of the account creator.

This is the very very hard part. The only decent solution is a web of trust. For example, you join the hospital as a doctor. You create a web page hosted somewhere with your photo, your passport number, and a public key, and hash them all with the private key. You then visit the hospital and the system administrator looks at your passport, sees if the photo matches you, and then hashes the web page/photo hash with the hospital private key. From now on we can securely exchange keys and tokens. As can anyone who trusts the hospital (there is the secret sauce BTW). The system administrator can also give you an RSA dongle or other two-factor authentication.

But this is a lot of a hassle, and not very web 2.0. However, it is the only secure way to create new accounts that have access to valuable information that is not self-created.

1. Kerberos and SPNEGO - single sign-on mechanisms with a trusted third party - basically the user verifies against a trusted third party. (NB this is not in any way the not to be trusted OAuth)

2. SRP - sort of clever password authentication without a trusted third party. But here we are getting into the realms of "it's safer to use two-factor authentication, even if that's costlier"

3. SSL client side - give the clients a public key certificate (support in all major browsers - but raises questions over client machine security).

In the end, it's a tradeoff - what is the cost of a security breach vs the cost of implementing more secure approaches. One day, we may see a proper PKI widely accepted and so no more own rolled authentication forms and databases. One day...

When Dialog 1 runs the code to open Dialog 2, after creating Dialog 2, have dialog 1 set a property on Dialog 2 that references the Dialog1 opener.

So if "childwindow" is you variable for the dialog 2 window object, and "window" is the variable for the Dialog 1 window object. After opening dialog 2, but before closing dialog 1 make an assignment similar to this:

After making the assignment above, close dialog 1. Then from the code running inside dialog2, you should be able to use window.appMainWindow to reference the main window, window object.

In addition to the solutions posted above, having gone through the exact same problem, make sure you check your HTML. More specifically whether you've properly labelled your elements, as well as class and id selectors. You can do this either manually or through a validator (https://validator.w3.org/).

For me, I missed the equal sign next to the class (<div class someDiv> vs <div class = "someDiv">, hence why no CSS property was applied.

indented underneath all like that, it's a build command. So this expands $(shell ls), then tries to run the command FILES ....

If FILES is supposed to be a make variable, these variables need to be assigned outside the recipe portion, e.g.:

If FILES is supposed to be a shell variable, you can set it but you need to do it in shell-ese, with no spaces, and quoted:

(In sh scripts, including the recipe portion of makefiles, another method is to use find ... -print0 | xargs -0 to avoid tripping over blanks, newlines, control characters, and so on.)

¹The GNU Make documentation notes further that POSIX make added ::= assignment in 2012. I have not found a quick reference link to a POSIX document for this, nor do I know off-hand which make variants support ::= assignment, although GNU make does today, with the same meaning as :=, i.e., do the assignment right now with expansion.

Note that VAR := $(shell command args...) can also be spelled VAR != command args... in several make variants, including all modern GNU and BSD variants as far as I know. These other variants do not have $(shell) so using VAR != command args... is superior in both being shorter and working in more variants.

If I understand your question correctly, I've made a fiddle that has this working correctly. This issue is with how you're assigning the event handlers and as others have said you have over riding event handlers. The current jQuery best practice is to use on() to register event handlers. Your original solution was pretty close but the way you added the event handlers is a bit confusing. It's considered best practice to not add events to HTML elements. I recommend reading up on Unobstrusive JavaScript.

It's so amazing that this one problem has so many different causes and possible solutions. I found yet a different solution that worked for me.

Well, it's not so much a solution but a discovery: I can see the Maven Dependencies node in the Package Explorer, which is the default for the Java perspective, but I can not see it in the Java EE perspective, which uses the Project Explorer by default. Both of those explorers look very similar at quick glance, so you may expect to see the Maven Dependencies in both.

As I was trying to figure this out, I hadn't realized that difference, so it wasn't really a problem for me in the end after all.

No need to initialize an empty DataFrame (you weren't even doing that, you'd need pd.DataFrame() with the parens).

Instead, to create a DataFrame where each series is a column,

1. make a list of Series, series, and
2. concatenate them horizontally with df = pd.concat(series, axis=1)

Something like:

I had similar problem, installing a 64-bit version for python27 on windows 7 64bit. Everything was up-to-date, yet I got the message

scipy-0.18.1-cp27-cp27m-win_amd64.whl is not supported wheel on this platform

Than I donwloaded a 32-bit whl and it worked.

You can use that code to create a new table with no data when you run it in a sql worksheet

sqldeveloper is a free to use app from oracle.

If the table has sequences or triggers the ddl will sometimes generate those for you too. You just have to be careful what order you make them in and know when to turn the triggers on or off.

I'd look around to find some (3rd party?) components that do what you want. I've had to create custom Swing components for an agenda view where you can book multiple resources, as well as an Excel-like grid that works well with keyboard navigation and so on. I had a terrible time getting them to work nicely because I needed to delve into many of Swing's many intricacies whenever I came upon a problem. Mouse and focus behaviour and a lot of other things can be very difficult to get right, especially for a casual Swing user. I would hope that JavaFX is a bit more future-orientated and smooth out of the box.

You are right. ArrayList.contains() tests equals(), not object identity:

returns true if and only if this list contains at least one element e such that (o==null ? e==null : o.equals(e))

If you got a NullPointerException, verify that you initialized your list, either in a constructor or the declaration. For example:

The 1 in GROUP BY 1 is a positional reference and a shortcut for GROUP BY movie in this case.

string_agg() expects data type text as input. Other types need to be cast explicitly (actor::text) - unless an implicit cast to text is defined - which is the case for all other character types (varchar, character, "char"), and some other types.

As isapir commented, you can add an ORDER BY clause in the aggregate call to get a sorted list - should you need that. Like:

This way you get the full power of Python's argument mechanics (mixing positional and keyword args, and can use symbolic names for names of weeks and months)

The CronTab class would be defined as simply sleeping in minute increments, and calling check() on each event. (There are probably some subtleties with daylight savings time / timezones to be wary of though). Here's a quick implementation:

A few things to note: Python's weekdays / months are zero indexed (unlike cron), and that range excludes the last element, hence syntax like "1-5" becomes range(0,5) - ie [0,1,2,3,4]. If you prefer cron syntax, parsing it shouldn't be too difficult however.

I would suggest you use TryParse:

This way, your application does not throw an exception, if you try to parse something like "1q" or "23e", because somebody made a faulty input.

Int32.TryParse returns a boolean value, so you can use it in an if statement, to see whether or not you need to branch of your code:

To your question: You will not find a solution to read an integer because ReadLine() reads the whole command line, threfor returns a string. What you can do is, try to convert this input into and int16/32/64 variable.

There are several methods for this:

• Int.Parse()
• Convert.ToInt()
• Int.TryParse()

If you are in doubt about the input, which is to be converted, always go for the TryParse methods, no matter if you try to parse strings, int variable or what not.

Update In C# 7.0 out variables can be declared directly where they are passed in as an argument, so the above code could be condensed into this:

Use an array, not a string, as given as guidance in BashFAQ #50.

Using a string is extremely bad security practice: Consider the case where password (or a where clause in the query, or any other component) is user-provided; you don't want to eval a password containing $(rm -rf .)!

It is named "destructor", not "deconstructor".

Inside the destructor of each class, you have to delete all other member variables that have been allocated with new.

edit: To clarify:

Say you have

Allocating an instance of B and then deleting is clean, because what B allocates internally will also be deleted in the destructor.

But instances of class C will leak memory, because it allocates an instance of A which it does not release (in this case C does not even have a destructor).

find . -name '*.pyc' -print0 | xargs -0 rm

The find recursively looks for *.pyc files. The xargs takes that list of names and sends it to rm. The -print0 and the -0 tell the two commands to seperate the filenames with null characters. This allows it to work correctly on file names containing spaces, and even a file name containing a new line.

The solution with -exec works, but it spins up a new copy of rm for every file. On a slow system or with a great many files, that'll take too long.

You could also add a couple more args:

find . -iname '*.pyc' -print0 | xargs -0 --no-run-if-empty  rm

iname adds case insensitivity, like *.PYC . The no-run-if-empty keeps you from getting an error from rm if you have no such files.

None of the above solutions worked for me in Visual Studio 2012 on a local project, Net Framework 4.5 MVC 4. For context, I was following a tutorial on creating a barebones Web Api on CodeProject (http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/615805/Creating-a-Clean-Minimal-Footprint-ASP-NET-WebAPI) when I ran into this problem.

What did work for me was explicitly adding "System.Web.Mvc" to my application's references, even though the application already did reference "System.Web".

What I ended up doing was: brew info git

Which gave me info that git was cloned into: /usr/local/Cellar/git/1.9.0

So I just added: /usr/local/Cellar/git/1.9.0/bin to the beginning of my PATH env variable.

Note: I don't know how to use homebrew... just want to get going quickly as I have other things to do... this basically gets gitk running for me so I'm sticking to it for now. (probably not the way to work with homebrew though).

• rake db:migrate:status gives a list of your migrations version, name and status (up or down)
• Your can also find the migration file, which contain a timestamp in the filename, that is the version number. Migrations are located in folder: /db/migrate
