Android ClassNotFoundException: Didn't find class on path

I ran into the same issue. I solved it by first deleting the build folder in your android project folder and the build folder in your app folder. then clean your project and build.

Integrate ZXing in Android Studio

I was integrating ZXING into an Android application and there were no good sources for the input all over, I will give you a hint on what worked for me - because it turned out to be very easy.

There is a real handy git repository that provides the zxing android library project as an AAR archive.

All you have to do is add this to your build.gradle

repositories {
    jcenter()
}

dependencies {
    implementation 'com.journeyapps:zxing-android-embedded:3.0.2@aar'
    implementation 'com.google.zxing:core:3.2.0'
}

and Gradle does all the magic to compile the code and makes it accessible in your app.

To start the Scanner afterwards, use this class/method: From the Activity:

new IntentIntegrator(this).initiateScan(); // `this` is the current Activity

From a Fragment:

IntentIntegrator.forFragment(this).initiateScan(); // `this` is the current Fragment
// If you're using the support library, use IntentIntegrator.forSupportFragment(this) instead.

There are several customizing options:

IntentIntegrator integrator = new IntentIntegrator(this);
integrator.setDesiredBarcodeFormats(IntentIntegrator.ONE_D_CODE_TYPES);
integrator.setPrompt("Scan a barcode");
integrator.setCameraId(0); // Use a specific camera of the device
integrator.setBeepEnabled(false);
integrator.setBarcodeImageEnabled(true);
integrator.initiateScan();

They have a sample-project and are providing several integration examples:

If you already visited the link you going to see that I just copy&pasted the code from the git README. If not, go there to get some more insight and code examples.

How to get current location in Android

I'm using this tutorial and it works nicely for my application.

In my activity I put this code:

GPSTracker tracker = new GPSTracker(this);
    if (!tracker.canGetLocation()) {
        tracker.showSettingsAlert();
    } else {
        latitude = tracker.getLatitude();
        longitude = tracker.getLongitude();
    }

also check if your emulator runs with Google API

SecurityException: Permission denied (missing INTERNET permission?)

if it was an IPv6 address, have a look at this: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=33046

Looks like there was a bug in Android that was fixed in 4.3(?).

Unable instantiate android.gms.maps.MapFragment

Update

Please follow Commonsware MapV2 code snippets to get better understanding.

(It is present in Omnibus edition)

https://github.com/commonsguy/cw-omnibus/tree/master/MapsV2

Following snippet is working fine at my end.I choose to use SupportMapFragment.

Dont forget to add google-play-services.jar into your project.

Google Maps Android API v2 Authorization failure

I faced the same issue.

If you issued an api for your release version of the application. Then that api will only work for the release version not for the debug version. So make sure you are using the release version in your phone or emulator .

This app won't run unless you update Google Play Services (via Bazaar)

From Android SDK Manager, install: Extras: Google Play services

Why does the Google Play store say my Android app is incompatible with my own device?

In Android some permissions <uses-permission> will imply <uses-feature> requirements to the app.

For example <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH" />
Will imply <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.bluetooth"/>

You can check the whole list here https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/uses-feature-element#permissions

Convert byte slice to io.Reader

To get a type that implements io.Reader from a []byte slice, you can use bytes.NewReader in the bytes package:

r := bytes.NewReader(byteData)

This will return a value of type bytes.Reader which implements the io.Reader (and io.ReadSeeker) interface.

Don't worry about them not being the same "type". io.Reader is an interface and can be implemented by many different types. To learn a little bit more about interfaces in Go, read Effective Go: Interfaces and Types.

Why does Java have an "unreachable statement" compiler error?

While I think this compiler error is a good thing, there is a way you can work around it. Use a condition you know will be true:

public void myMethod(){

    someCodeHere();

    if(1 < 2) return; // compiler isn't smart enough to complain about this

    moreCodeHere();

}

The compiler is not smart enough to complain about that.

How to loop through a HashMap in JSP?

Just the same way as you would do in normal Java code.

for (Map.Entry<String, String> entry : countries.entrySet()) {
    String key = entry.getKey();
    String value = entry.getValue();
    // ...
}

However, scriptlets (raw Java code in JSP files, those <% %> things) are considered a poor practice. I recommend to install JSTL (just drop the JAR file in /WEB-INF/lib and declare the needed taglibs in top of JSP). It has a <c:forEach> tag which can iterate over among others Maps. Every iteration will give you a Map.Entry back which in turn has getKey() and getValue() methods.

Here's a basic example:

<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>

<c:forEach items="${map}" var="entry">
    Key = ${entry.key}, value = ${entry.value}<br>
</c:forEach>

Thus your particular issue can be solved as follows:

<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>

<select name="country">
    <c:forEach items="${countries}" var="country">
        <option value="${country.key}">${country.value}</option>
    </c:forEach>
</select>

You need a Servlet or a ServletContextListener to place the ${countries} in the desired scope. If this list is supposed to be request-based, then use the Servlet's doGet():

protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) {
    Map<String, String> countries = MainUtils.getCountries();
    request.setAttribute("countries", countries);
    request.getRequestDispatcher("/WEB-INF/page.jsp").forward(request, response);
}

Or if this list is supposed to be an application-wide constant, then use ServletContextListener's contextInitialized() so that it will be loaded only once and kept in memory:

public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent event) {
    Map<String, String> countries = MainUtils.getCountries();
    event.getServletContext().setAttribute("countries", countries);
}

In both cases the countries will be available in EL by ${countries}.

Hope this helps.

How to convert BigInteger to String in java

//How to solve BigDecimal & BigInteger and return a String.

  BigDecimal x = new BigDecimal( a );

Correct way to initialize empty slice

The two alternative you gave are semantically identical, but using make([]int, 0) will result in an internal call to runtime.makeslice (Go 1.14).

You also have the option to leave it with a nil value:

var myslice []int

As written in the Golang.org blog:

a nil slice is functionally equivalent to a zero-length slice, even though it points to nothing. It has length zero and can be appended to, with allocation.

A nil slice will however json.Marshal() into "null" whereas an empty slice will marshal into "[]", as pointed out by @farwayer.

None of the above options will cause any allocation, as pointed out by @ArmanOrdookhani.

Knockout validation

Have a look at Knockout-Validation which cleanly setups and uses what's described in the knockout documentation. Under: Live Example 1: Forcing input to be numeric

You can see it live in Fiddle

UPDATE: the fiddle has been updated to use the latest KO 2.0.3 and ko.validation 1.0.2 using the cloudfare CDN urls

To setup ko.validation:

ko.validation.rules.pattern.message = 'Invalid.';

ko.validation.configure({
    registerExtenders: true,
    messagesOnModified: true,
    insertMessages: true,
    parseInputAttributes: true,
    messageTemplate: null
});

To setup validation rules, use extenders. For instance:

var viewModel = {
    firstName: ko.observable().extend({ minLength: 2, maxLength: 10 }),
    lastName: ko.observable().extend({ required: true }),
    emailAddress: ko.observable().extend({  // custom message
        required: { message: 'Please supply your email address.' }
    })
};

vagrant login as root by default

If Vagrantfile as below:

config.ssh.username = 'root'
config.ssh.password = 'vagrant'
config.ssh.insert_key = 'true'

But vagrant still ask you root password, most likely the base box you used do not configured to allow root login.

For example, the offical ubuntu14.04 box do not set PermitRootLogin yes in /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

So If you want a box can login as root default(only Vagrantfile, no more work), you have to :

  1. Setup a vm by username vagrant(whatever name but root)

  2. Login and edit sshd config file.

    ubuntu: edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config, set PermitRootLogin yes

    others: ....

    (I only use ubuntu, feel free to add workaround of other platforms)

  3. Build a new base box:

    vagrant package --base your-vm-name

    this create a file package.box

  4. Add that base box to vagrant:

    vagrant box add ubuntu-root file:///somepath/package.box

    then, you need use this base box to build vm which allow auto login as root.

  5. Destroy original vm by vagrant destroy

  6. Edit original Vagrantfile, change box name to ubuntu-root and username to root, then vagrant up create a new one.

It cost me some time to figure out , it is too complicate in my opinion. Hope vagrant would improve this.

MySQL user DB does not have password columns - Installing MySQL on OSX

Thank you for your help. Just in case if people are still having problems, try this.

For MySQL version 5.6 and under

Have you forgotten your Mac OS X 'ROOT' password  and need to reset it?  Follow these 4 simple steps:

  1.  Stop the mysqld server.  Typically this can be done by from 'System Prefrences' > MySQL > 'Stop MySQL Server'
  2.  Start the server in safe mode with privilege bypass      From a terminal:      sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables
  3.  In a new terminal window:      sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u root      UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('NewPassword') WHERE User='root';      FLUSH PRIVILEGES;      \q
  4.  Stop the mysqld server again and restart it in normal mode.

For MySQL version 5.7 and up

  3.  In a new terminal window:            sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u root      UPDATE mysql.user SET authentication_string=PASSWORD('NewPassword') WHERE User='root';      FLUSH PRIVILEGES;      \q
  4.  Stop the mysqld server again and restart it in normal mode.

What is the difference between varchar and nvarchar?

Mainly nvarchar stores Unicode characters and varchar stores non-Unicode characters.

"Unicodes" means 16-bit character encoding scheme allowing characters from lots of other languages like Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, to be encoded in a single character set.

That means unicodes is using 2 bytes per character to store and nonunicodes uses only one byte per character to store. Which means unicodes need double capacity to store compared to non-unicodes.

Firestore Getting documents id from collection

For document references, not collections, you need:

// when you know the 'id'

this.afs.doc(`items/${id}`)
  .snapshotChanges().pipe(
    map((doc: any) => {
      const data = doc.payload.data();
      const id = doc.payload.id;
      return { id, ...data };
    });

as .valueChanges({ idField: 'id'}); will not work here. I assume it was not implemented since generally you search for a document by the id...

org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP:

The problem is caused because you need to import the pageNumber.Member class in your JSP. Make sure to also include another packages and classes like java.util.List.

<%@ page import="pageNumber.*, java.util.*" %>

Still, you have a major problem by using scriptlets in your JSP. Refer to How to avoid Java Code in JSP-Files? and start practicing EL and JSTL and focusing more on a MVC solution instead.

change type of input field with jQuery

This will do the trick. Although it could be improved to ignore attributes that are now irrelevant.

Plugin:

(function($){
  $.fn.changeType = function(type) {
    return this.each(function(i, elm) {
        var newElm = $("<input type=\""+type+"\" />");
        for(var iAttr = 0; iAttr < elm.attributes.length; iAttr++) {
            var attribute = elm.attributes[iAttr].name;
            if(attribute === "type") {
                continue;
            }
            newElm.attr(attribute, elm.attributes[iAttr].value);
        }
        $(elm).replaceWith(newElm);
    });
  };
})(jQuery);

Usage:

$(":submit").changeType("checkbox");

XAMPP Object not found error

Drixson Oseña you are right but when you newly install xampp on your system "Object not found!

However all folder in the htdocs but only open is that xampp website because of index.php error, so that's not a big deal just remove the index.html and index.php and try to open localhost again you'll be succeed.

Executing a stored procedure within a stored procedure

Inline Stored procedure we using as per our need. Example like different Same parameter with different values we have to use in queries..

Create Proc SP1
(
 @ID int,
 @Name varchar(40)
 -- etc parameter list, If you don't have any parameter then no need to pass.
 )

  AS
  BEGIN

  -- Here we have some opereations

 -- If there is any Error Before Executing SP2 then SP will stop executing.

  Exec SP2 @ID,@Name,@SomeID OUTPUT

 -- ,etc some other parameter also we can use OutPut parameters like

 -- @SomeID is useful for some other operations for condition checking insertion etc.

 -- If you have any Error in you SP2 then also it will stop executing.

 -- If you want to do any other operation after executing SP2 that we can do here.

Connecting to remote MySQL server using PHP

This maybe not the answer to poster's question.But this may helpful to people whose face same situation with me:

The client have two network cards,a wireless one and a normal one. The ping to server can be succeed.However telnet serverAddress 3306 would fail. And would complain

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (10060)

when try to connect to server.So I forbidden the normal network adapters. And tried telnet serverAddress 3306 it works.And then it work when connect to MySQL server.

Div with margin-left and width:100% overflowing on the right side

Just remove the width from both divs.

A div is a block level element and will use all available space (unless you start floating or positioning them) so the outer div will automatically be 100% wide and the inner div will use all remaining space after setting the left margin.

I have added an example with a textarea on jsfiddle.

Updated example with an input.

How to define hash tables in Bash?

I create HashMaps in bash 3 using dynamic variables. I explained how that works in my answer to: Associative arrays in Shell scripts

Also you can take a look in shell_map, which is a HashMap implementation made in bash 3.

Sort array of objects by single key with date value

For completeness here is a possible short generic implementation of sortBy:

function sortBy(list, keyFunc) {
  return list.sort((a,b) => keyFunc(a) - keyFunc(b));
}

sortBy([{"key": 2}, {"key": 1}], o => o["key"])

Note that this uses the arrays sort method that sorts in place. for a copy you can use arr.concat() or arr.slice(0) or similar method to create a copy.

How do I properly escape quotes inside HTML attributes?

If you are using Javascript and Lodash, then you can use _.escape(), which escapes ", ', <, >, and &.

Excel VBA - Range.Copy transpose paste

WorksheetFunction Transpose()

Instead of copying, pasting via PasteSpecial, and using the Transpose option you can simply type a formula

    =TRANSPOSE(Sheet1!A1:A5)

or if you prefer VBA:

    Dim v
    v = WorksheetFunction.Transpose(Sheet1.Range("A1:A5"))
    Sheet2.Range("A1").Resize(1, UBound(v)) = v

Note: alternatively you could use late-bound Application.Transpose instead.

MS help reference states that having a current version of Microsoft 365, one can simply input the formula in the top-left-cell of the target range, otherwise the formula must be entered as a legacy array formula via Ctrl+Shift+Enter to confirm it.

Versions Excel vers. 2007+, Mac since 2011, Excel for Microsoft 365

How to get only time from date-time C#

If you're looking to compare times, and not the dates, you could just have a standard comparison date, or match to the date you're using, as in...

DateTime time = DateTime.Parse("6/22/2009 10:00AM");
DateTime compare = DateTime.Parse(time.ToShortDateString() + " 2:00PM");
bool greater = (time > compare);

There may be better ways to to this, but keeps your dates matching.

When should we implement Serializable interface?

  1. From What's this "serialization" thing all about?:

    It lets you take an object or group of objects, put them on a disk or send them through a wire or wireless transport mechanism, then later, perhaps on another computer, reverse the process: resurrect the original object(s). The basic mechanisms are to flatten object(s) into a one-dimensional stream of bits, and to turn that stream of bits back into the original object(s).

    Like the Transporter on Star Trek, it's all about taking something complicated and turning it into a flat sequence of 1s and 0s, then taking that sequence of 1s and 0s (possibly at another place, possibly at another time) and reconstructing the original complicated "something."

    So, implement the Serializable interface when you need to store a copy of the object, send them to another process which runs on the same system or over the network.

  2. Because you want to store or send an object.

  3. It makes storing and sending objects easy. It has nothing to do with security.

rsync: difference between --size-only and --ignore-times

You are missing that rsync can also compare files by checksum.

--size-only means that rsync will skip files that match in size, even if the timestamps differ. This means it will synchronise fewer files than the default behaviour. It will miss any file with changes that don't affect the overall file size. If you have something that changes the dates on files without changing the files, and you don't want rsync to spend lots of time checksumming those files to discover they haven't changed, this is the option to use.

--ignore-times means that rsync will checksum every file, even if the timestamps and file sizes match. This means it will synchronise more files than the default behaviour. It will include changes to files even where the file size is the same and the modification date/time has been reset to the original value. Checksumming every file means it has to be entirely read from disk, which may be slow. Some build pipelines will reset timestamps to a specific date (like 1970-01-01) to ensure that the final build file is reproducible bit for bit, e.g. when packed into a tar file that saves the timestamps.

About "*.d.ts" in TypeScript

This answer assumes you have some JavaScript that you don't want to convert to TypeScript, but you want to benefit from type checking with minimal changes to your .js. A .d.ts file is very much like a C or C++ header file. Its purpose is to define an interface. Here is an example:

mashString.d.ts

/** Makes a string harder to read. */
declare function mashString(
    /** The string to obscure */
    str: string
):string;
export = mashString;

mashString.js

// @ts-check
/** @type {import("./mashString")} */
module.exports = (str) => [...str].reverse().join("");

main.js

// @ts-check
const mashString = require("./mashString");
console.log(mashString("12345"));

The relationship here is: mashString.d.ts defines an interface, mashString.js implements the interface and main.js uses the interface.

To get the type checking to work you add // @ts-check to your .js files. But this only checks that main.js uses the interface correctly. To also ensure that mashString.js implements it correctly we add /** @type {import("./mashString")} */ before the export.

You can create your initial .d.ts files using tsc -allowJs main.js -d then edit them as required manually to improve the type checking and documentation.

In most cases the implementation and interface have the same name, here mashString. But you can have alternative implementations. For example we could rename mashString.js to reverse.js and have an alternative encryptString.js.

How to use struct timeval to get the execution time?

Change:

struct timeval, tvalBefore, tvalAfter; /* Looks like an attempt to
                                          delcare a variable with
                                          no name. */

to:

struct timeval tvalBefore, tvalAfter;

It is less likely (IMO) to make this mistake if there is a single declaration per line:

struct timeval tvalBefore;
struct timeval tvalAfter;

It becomes more error prone when declaring pointers to types on a single line:

struct timeval* tvalBefore, tvalAfter;

tvalBefore is a struct timeval* but tvalAfter is a struct timeval.

window.location.href doesn't redirect

window.location.replace is the best way to emulate a redirect:

function ShowComments(){
    var movieShareId = document.getElementById('movieId');
    window.location.replace("/comments.aspx?id=" + (movieShareId.textContent || movieShareId.innerText) + "/");
}

More information about why window.location.replace is the best javascript redirect can be found right here.

Calculate percentage saved between two numbers?

I know this is fairly old but I figured this was as good as any to put this. I found a post from yahoo with a good explanation:

Let's say you have two numbers, 40 and 30.

  30/40*100 = 75.
  So 30 is 75% of 40.

  40/30*100 = 133.
  So 40 is 133% of 30.

The percentage increase from 30 to 40 is:
  (40-30)/30 * 100 = 33%

The percentage decrease from 40 to 30 is:
  (40-30)/40 * 100 = 25%.

These calculations hold true whatever your two numbers.

Eclipse Build Path Nesting Errors

Here is a simple solution:

  1. Right click the project >> properties >> build path;
  2. In Source tab, Select all the source folders;
  3. Remove them;
  4. Right click on project, Maven >> Update the project.

Error: Selection does not contain a main type

Right click on the folder where you put your main class then click on Build Path --> Use as Source Folder.

Finally run your main file as java application. Hope this problem will be solved.

SSH to AWS Instance without key pairs

1) You should be able to change the ssh configuration (on Ubuntu this is typically in /etc/ssh or /etc/sshd) and re-enable password logins.

2) There's nothing really AWS specific about this - Apache can handle VHOSTS (virtual hosts) out-of-the-box - allowing you to specify that a certain domain is served from a certain directory. I'd Google that for more info on the specifics.

Convert timedelta to total seconds

You have a problem one way or the other with your datetime.datetime.fromtimestamp(time.mktime(time.gmtime())) expression.

(1) If all you need is the difference between two instants in seconds, the very simple time.time() does the job.

(2) If you are using those timestamps for other purposes, you need to consider what you are doing, because the result has a big smell all over it:

gmtime() returns a time tuple in UTC but mktime() expects a time tuple in local time.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia where the standard TZ is UTC+10, but daylight saving is still in force until tomorrow morning so it's UTC+11. When I executed the following, it was 2011-04-02T20:31 local time here ... UTC was 2011-04-02T09:31

>>> import time, datetime
>>> t1 = time.gmtime()
>>> t2 = time.mktime(t1)
>>> t3 = datetime.datetime.fromtimestamp(t2)
>>> print t0
1301735358.78
>>> print t1
time.struct_time(tm_year=2011, tm_mon=4, tm_mday=2, tm_hour=9, tm_min=31, tm_sec=3, tm_wday=5, tm_yday=92, tm_isdst=0) ### this is UTC
>>> print t2
1301700663.0
>>> print t3
2011-04-02 10:31:03 ### this is UTC+1
>>> tt = time.time(); print tt
1301736663.88
>>> print datetime.datetime.now()
2011-04-02 20:31:03.882000 ### UTC+11, my local time
>>> print datetime.datetime(1970,1,1) + datetime.timedelta(seconds=tt)
2011-04-02 09:31:03.880000 ### UTC
>>> print time.localtime()
time.struct_time(tm_year=2011, tm_mon=4, tm_mday=2, tm_hour=20, tm_min=31, tm_sec=3, tm_wday=5, tm_yday=92, tm_isdst=1) ### UTC+11, my local time

You'll notice that t3, the result of your expression is UTC+1, which appears to be UTC + (my local DST difference) ... not very meaningful. You should consider using datetime.datetime.utcnow() which won't jump by an hour when DST goes on/off and may give you more precision than time.time()

How to run SQL in shell script

Code

PL_CONNECT_STRING="$DB_USERNAME/$DB_PASSWORD@$DB_SERVICE"

OUTPUT=$(sqlplus -s $PL_CONNECT_STRING <<-END-OF-SQL
           select count(*) from table;
exit;
END-OF-SQL)
echo "COMPLETED GATHER STATS $OUTPUT";

Explanation:

PL_CONNECT_STRING carry database username, password and it service name

sqlplus is used to connect the Database with PL_CONNECT_STRING details

END-OF-SQL tag contain the query which you want to execute

echo is used to print the output of the query

NOTE: You can give multiple Query inside the END-OF-SQL tag, so its useful for batch execution as well

How to convert milliseconds to seconds with precision

Surely you just need:

double seconds = milliseconds / 1000.0;

There's no need to manually do the two parts separately - you just need floating point arithmetic, which the use of 1000.0 (as a double literal) forces. (I'm assuming your milliseconds value is an integer of some form.)

Note that as usual with double, you may not be able to represent the result exactly. Consider using BigDecimal if you want to represent 100ms as 0.1 seconds exactly. (Given that it's a physical quantity, and the 100ms wouldn't be exact in the first place, a double is probably appropriate, but...)

Pandas Split Dataframe into two Dataframes at a specific row

I generally use array split because it's easier simple syntax and scales better with more than 2 partitions.

import numpy as np
partitions = 2
dfs = np.array_split(df, partitions)

np.split(df, [100,200,300], axis=0] wants explicit index numbers which may or may not be desirable.

Change first commit of project with Git?

As mentioned by ecdpalma below, git 1.7.12+ (August 2012) has enhanced the option --root for git rebase:

"git rebase [-i] --root $tip" can now be used to rewrite all the history leading to "$tip" down to the root commit.

That new behavior was initially discussed here:

I personally think "git rebase -i --root" should be made to just work without requiring "--onto" and let you "edit" even the first one in the history.
It is understandable that nobody bothered, as people are a lot less often rewriting near the very beginning of the history than otherwise.

The patch followed.

(original answer, February 2010)

As mentioned in the Git FAQ (and this SO question), the idea is:

  1. Create new temporary branch
  2. Rewind it to the commit you want to change using git reset --hard
  3. Change that commit (it would be top of current HEAD, and you can modify the content of any file)
  4. Rebase branch on top of changed commit, using:

    git rebase --onto <tmp branch> <commit after changed> <branch>`

The trick is to be sure the information you want to remove is not reintroduced by a later commit somewhere else in your file. If you suspect that, then you have to use filter-branch --tree-filter to make sure the content of that file does not contain in any commit the sensible information.

In both cases, you end up rewriting the SHA1 of every commit, so be careful if you have already published the branch you are modifying the contents of. You probably shouldn’t do it unless your project isn’t yet public and other people haven’t based work off the commits you’re about to rewrite.

Simple Popup by using Angular JS

Built a modal popup example using syarul's jsFiddle link. Here is the updated fiddle.

Created an angular directive called modal and used in html. Explanation:-

HTML

<div ng-controller="MainCtrl" class="container">
  <button ng-click="toggleModal('Success')" class="btn btn-default">Success</button>
  <button ng-click="toggleModal('Remove')" class="btn btn-default">Remove</button>
  <button ng-click="toggleModal('Deny')" class="btn btn-default">Deny</button>
  <button ng-click="toggleModal('Cancel')" class="btn btn-default">Cancel</button>
  <modal visible="showModal">
      Any additional data / buttons
  </modal>
</div>

On button click toggleModal() function is called with the button message as parameter. This function toggles the visibility of popup. Any tags that you put inside will show up in the popup as content since ng-transclude is placed on modal-body in the directive template.

JS

var mymodal = angular.module('mymodal', []);

mymodal.controller('MainCtrl', function ($scope) {
    $scope.showModal = false;
    $scope.buttonClicked = "";
    $scope.toggleModal = function(btnClicked){
        $scope.buttonClicked = btnClicked;
        $scope.showModal = !$scope.showModal;
    };
  });

mymodal.directive('modal', function () {
    return {
      template: '<div class="modal fade">' +
          '<div class="modal-dialog">' +
            '<div class="modal-content">' +
              '<div class="modal-header">' +
                '<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>' +
                '<h4 class="modal-title">{{ buttonClicked }} clicked!!</h4>' +
              '</div>' +
              '<div class="modal-body" ng-transclude></div>' +
            '</div>' +
          '</div>' +
        '</div>',
      restrict: 'E',
      transclude: true,
      replace:true,
      scope:true,
      link: function postLink(scope, element, attrs) {
        scope.title = attrs.title;

        scope.$watch(attrs.visible, function(value){
          if(value == true)
            $(element).modal('show');
          else
            $(element).modal('hide');
        });

        $(element).on('shown.bs.modal', function(){
          scope.$apply(function(){
            scope.$parent[attrs.visible] = true;
          });
        });

        $(element).on('hidden.bs.modal', function(){
          scope.$apply(function(){
            scope.$parent[attrs.visible] = false;
          });
        });
      }
    };
  });

Append text with .bat

I am not proficient at batch scripting but I can tell you that REM stands for Remark. The append won't occur as it is essentially commented out.

Also, the append operator redirects the output of a command to a file. In the snippet you posted it is not clear what output should be redirected.

What is the difference between application server and web server?

IMO, it's mostly about separating concerns.

From a purely technical point of view, you can do everything (web content + business logic) in a single web server. If you'd do that, then the information would be embedded inside requested the HTML content. What would be the impact?

For example, imagine you have 2 different apps which renders entirely different HTML content on the browser. If you would separate the business logic into an app-server than you could provide different web-servers looking up the same data in the app-server via scripts. However, If you wouldn't separate the logic and keep it in the web-server, whenever you change your business model, you would end up changing it in every single web-server you have which would take more time, be less reliable and error-prone.

Is Eclipse the best IDE for Java?

Eclipse! It can be slow at times and uses a lot of memory but it works well.

What's the purpose of META-INF?

I've noticed that some Java libraries have started using META-INF as a directory in which to include configuration files that should be packaged and included in the CLASSPATH along with JARs. For example, Spring allows you to import XML Files that are on the classpath using:

<import resource="classpath:/META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" />
<import resource="classpath:/META-INF/cxf/cxf-extensions-*.xml" />

In this example, I'm quoting straight out of the Apache CXF User Guide. On a project I worked on in which we had to allow multiple levels of configuration via Spring, we followed this convention and put our configuration files in META-INF.

When I reflect on this decision, I don't know what exactly would be wrong with simply including the configuration files in a specific Java package, rather than in META-INF. But it seems to be an emerging de facto standard; either that, or an emerging anti-pattern :-)

WPF Check box: Check changed handling

Im putting this in an answer because it's too long for a comment:

If you need the VM to be aware when the CheckBox is changed, you should really bind the CheckBox to the VM, and not a static value:

public class ViewModel
{
    private bool _caseSensitive;
    public bool CaseSensitive
    {
        get { return _caseSensitive; }
        set
        {
            _caseSensitive = value;
            NotifyPropertyChange(() => CaseSensitive);

            Settings.Default.bSearchCaseSensitive = value;
        }
    }
}

XAML:

<CheckBox Content="Case Sensitive" IsChecked="{Binding CaseSensitive}"/>

What is the difference between '/' and '//' when used for division?

In Python 3.x, 5 / 2 will return 2.5 and 5 // 2 will return 2. The former is floating point division, and the latter is floor division, sometimes also called integer division.

In Python 2.2 or later in the 2.x line, there is no difference for integers unless you perform a from __future__ import division, which causes Python 2.x to adopt the 3.x behavior.

Regardless of the future import, 5.0 // 2 will return 2.0 since that's the floor division result of the operation.

You can find a detailed description at https://docs.python.org/whatsnew/2.2.html#pep-238-changing-the-division-operator

Does Django scale?

I was at the EuroDjangoCon conference the other week, and this was the subject of a couple of talks - including from the founders of what was the largest Django-based site, Pownce (slides from one talk here). The main message is that it's not Django you have to worry about, but things like proper caching, load balancing, database optimisation, etc.

Django actually has hooks for most of those things - caching, in particular, is made very easy.

>>> type(tup)
<type 'tuple'>
>>> tup
(1, 2, 'stackoverflow', 'python')

smart way

>>>tuple(item for item in l)
(1, 2, 'stackoverflow', 'python')

Remember tuple is immutable ,used for storing something valuable. For example password,key or hashes are stored in tuples or dictionaries. If knife is needed why to use sword to cut apples. Use it wisely, it will also make your program efficient.

Parse time of format hh:mm:ss

String time = "12:32:22";
String[] values = time.split(":");

This will take your time and split it where it sees a colon and put the value in an array, so you should have 3 values after this.

Then loop through string array and convert each one. (with Integer.parseInt)

How to remove a directory from git repository?

If, for some reason, what karmakaze said doesn't work, you could try deleting the directory you want using or with your file system browser (ex. In Windows File Explorer). After deleting the directory, issuing the command:
git add -A
and then
git commit -m 'deleting directory'
and then
git push origin master.

Spring Boot - Error creating bean with name 'dataSource' defined in class path resource

I was facing this issue even after supplying all required datasource properties in application.properties. Then I realized that properties configuration class was not getting scanned by Spring boot because it was in different package hierarchy compared to my Spring boot Application.java and hence no properties were applied to datasource object. I changed the package name of my properties configuration class and it started working.

How to obfuscate Python code effectively?

Maybe you should look into using something simple like a truecrypt volume for source code storage as that seems to be a concern of yours. You can create an encrypted file on a usb key or just encrypt the whole volume (provided the code will fit) so you can simply take the key with you at the end of the day.

To compile, you could then use something like PyInstaller or py2exe in order to create a stand-alone executable. If you really wanted to go the extra mile, look into a packer or compression utility in order to add more obfuscation. If none of these are an option, you could at least compile the script into bytecode so it isn't immediately readable. Keep in mind that these methods will merely slow someone trying to debug or decompile your program.

Case in Select Statement

I think these could be helpful for you .

Using a SELECT statement with a simple CASE expression

Within a SELECT statement, a simple CASE expression allows for only an equality check; no other comparisons are made. The following example uses the CASE expression to change the display of product line categories to make them more understandable.

USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
SELECT   ProductNumber, Category =
      CASE ProductLine
         WHEN 'R' THEN 'Road'
         WHEN 'M' THEN 'Mountain'
         WHEN 'T' THEN 'Touring'
         WHEN 'S' THEN 'Other sale items'
         ELSE 'Not for sale'
      END,
   Name
FROM Production.Product
ORDER BY ProductNumber;
GO

Using a SELECT statement with a searched CASE expression

Within a SELECT statement, the searched CASE expression allows for values to be replaced in the result set based on comparison values. The following example displays the list price as a text comment based on the price range for a product.

USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
SELECT ProductNumber, Name, "Price Range" =
      CASE
         WHEN ListPrice = 0 THEN 'Mfg item - not for resale'
         WHEN ListPrice < 50 THEN 'Under $50'
         WHEN ListPrice >= 50 and ListPrice < 250 THEN 'Under $250'
         WHEN ListPrice >= 250 and ListPrice < 1000 THEN 'Under $1000'
         ELSE 'Over $1000'
      END
FROM Production.Product
ORDER BY ProductNumber ;
GO

Using CASE in an ORDER BY clause

The following examples uses the CASE expression in an ORDER BY clause to determine the sort order of the rows based on a given column value. In the first example, the value in the SalariedFlag column of the HumanResources.Employee table is evaluated. Employees that have the SalariedFlag set to 1 are returned in order by the BusinessEntityID in descending order. Employees that have the SalariedFlag set to 0 are returned in order by the BusinessEntityID in ascending order. In the second example, the result set is ordered by the column TerritoryName when the column CountryRegionName is equal to 'United States' and by CountryRegionName for all other rows.

SELECT BusinessEntityID, SalariedFlag
FROM HumanResources.Employee
ORDER BY CASE SalariedFlag WHEN 1 THEN BusinessEntityID END DESC
        ,CASE WHEN SalariedFlag = 0 THEN BusinessEntityID END;
GO

SELECT BusinessEntityID, LastName, TerritoryName, CountryRegionName
FROM Sales.vSalesPerson
WHERE TerritoryName IS NOT NULL
ORDER BY CASE CountryRegionName WHEN 'United States' THEN TerritoryName
         ELSE CountryRegionName END;

Using CASE in an UPDATE statement

The following example uses the CASE expression in an UPDATE statement to determine the value that is set for the column VacationHours for employees with SalariedFlag set to 0. When subtracting 10 hours from VacationHours results in a negative value, VacationHours is increased by 40 hours; otherwise, VacationHours is increased by 20 hours. The OUTPUT clause is used to display the before and after vacation values.

USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
UPDATE HumanResources.Employee
SET VacationHours =
    ( CASE
         WHEN ((VacationHours - 10.00) < 0) THEN VacationHours + 40
         ELSE (VacationHours + 20.00)
       END
    )
OUTPUT Deleted.BusinessEntityID, Deleted.VacationHours AS BeforeValue,
       Inserted.VacationHours AS AfterValue
WHERE SalariedFlag = 0;

Using CASE in a HAVING clause

The following example uses the CASE expression in a HAVING clause to restrict the rows returned by the SELECT statement. The statement returns the the maximum hourly rate for each job title in the HumanResources.Employee table. The HAVING clause restricts the titles to those that are held by men with a maximum pay rate greater than 40 dollars or women with a maximum pay rate greater than 42 dollars.

USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
SELECT JobTitle, MAX(ph1.Rate)AS MaximumRate
FROM HumanResources.Employee AS e
JOIN HumanResources.EmployeePayHistory AS ph1 ON e.BusinessEntityID = ph1.BusinessEntityID
GROUP BY JobTitle
HAVING (MAX(CASE WHEN Gender = 'M'
        THEN ph1.Rate
        ELSE NULL END) > 40.00
     OR MAX(CASE WHEN Gender  = 'F'
        THEN ph1.Rate
        ELSE NULL END) > 42.00)
ORDER BY MaximumRate DESC;

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes)

I had this problem. I searched the internet, took all advices, changes configurations, but the problem is still there. Finally with the help of the server administrator, he found that the problem lies in MySQL database column definition. one of the columns in the a table was assigned to 'Longtext' which leads to allocate 4,294,967,295 bites of memory. It seems working OK if you don't use MySqli prepare statement, but once you use prepare statement, it tries to allocate that amount of memory. I changed the column type to Mediumtext which needs 16,777,215 bites of memory space. The problem is gone. Hope this help.

How to start an Intent by passing some parameters to it?

I think you want something like this:

Intent foo = new Intent(this, viewContacts.class);
foo.putExtra("myFirstKey", "myFirstValue");
foo.putExtra("mySecondKey", "mySecondValue");
startActivity(foo);

or you can combine them into a bundle first. Corresponding getExtra() routines exist for the other side. See the intent topic in the dev guide for more information.

How to avoid soft keyboard pushing up my layout?

I did have the same problem and at first I added:

<activity
    android:name="com.companyname.applicationname"
    android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan">

to my manifest file. But this alone did not solve the issue. Then as mentioned by Artem Russakovskii, I added:

<ScrollView
    android:layout_width="fill_parent"
    android:layout_height="fill_parent"
    android:isScrollContainer="false">
</ScrollView>

in the scrollview.

This is what worked for me.

AngularJS disable partial caching on dev machine

There is no solution to prevent browser/proxy caching since you cannot have the control on it.

The other way to force fresh content to your users it to rename the HTML file! Exactly like https://www.npmjs.com/package/grunt-filerev does for assets.

How can I create an Asynchronous function in Javascript?

Unfortunately, JavaScript doesn't provide an async functionality. It works only in a single one thread. But the most of the modern browsers provide Workers, that are second scripts which gets executed in background and can return a result. So, I reached a solution I think it's useful to asynchronously run a function, which creates a worker for each async call.

The code below contains the function async to call in background.

Function.prototype.async = function(callback) {
    let blob = new Blob([ "self.addEventListener('message', function(e) { self.postMessage({ result: (" + this + ").apply(null, e.data) }); }, false);" ], { type: "text/javascript" });
    let worker = new Worker(window.URL.createObjectURL(blob));
    worker.addEventListener("message", function(e) {
        this(e.data.result);
    }.bind(callback), false);
    return function() {
        this.postMessage(Array.from(arguments));
    }.bind(worker);
};

This is an example for usage:

(function(x) {
    for (let i = 0; i < 999999999; i++) {}
        return x * 2;
}).async(function(result) {
    alert(result);
})(10);

This executes a function which iterate a for with a huge number to take time as demonstration of asynchronicity, and then gets the double of the passed number. The async method provides a function which calls the wanted function in background, and in that which is provided as parameter of async callbacks the return in its unique parameter. So in the callback function I alert the result.

How to set default values for Angular 2 component properties?

Here is the best solution for this. (ANGULAR All Version)

Addressing solution: To set a default value for @Input variable. If no value passed to that input variable then It will take the default value.

I have provided solution for this kind of similar question. You can find the full solution from here

export class CarComponent implements OnInit {
  private _defaultCar: car = {
    // default isCar is true
    isCar: true,
    // default wheels will be 4
    wheels: 4
  };

  @Input() newCar: car = {};

  constructor() {}

  ngOnInit(): void {

   // this will concate both the objects and the object declared later (ie.. ...this.newCar )
   // will overwrite the default value. ONLY AND ONLY IF DEFAULT VALUE IS PRESENT

    this.newCar = { ...this._defaultCar, ...this.newCar };
   //  console.log(this.newCar);
  }
}

Java: how do I initialize an array size if it's unknown?

I agree that a data structure like a List is the best way to go:

List<Integer> values = new ArrayList<Integer>();
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
int value;
int numValues = 0;
do {
    value = in.nextInt();
    values.add(value);
} while (value >= 1) && (value <= 100);

Or you can just allocate an array of a max size and load values into it:

int maxValues = 100;
int [] values = new int[maxValues];
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
int value;
int numValues = 0;
do {
    value = in.nextInt();
    values[numValues++] = value;
} while (value >= 1) && (value <= 100) && (numValues < maxValues);

How do I give PHP write access to a directory?

An easy way is to let PHP create the directory itself in the first place.

<?php
 $dir = 'myDir';

 // create new directory with 744 permissions if it does not exist yet
 // owner will be the user/group the PHP script is run under
 if ( !file_exists($dir) ) {
     mkdir ($dir, 0744);
 }

 file_put_contents ($dir.'/test.txt', 'Hello File');

This saves you the hassle with permissions.

Include CSS and Javascript in my django template

Read this https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/howto/static-files/:

For local development, if you are using runserver or adding staticfiles_urlpatterns to your URLconf, you’re done with the setup – your static files will automatically be served at the default (for newly created projects) STATIC_URL of /static/.

And try:

~/tmp$ django-admin.py startproject myprj
~/tmp$ cd myprj/
~/tmp/myprj$ chmod a+x manage.py
~/tmp/myprj$ ./manage.py startapp myapp

Then add 'myapp' to INSTALLED_APPS (myprj/settings.py).

~/tmp/myprj$ cd myapp/
~/tmp/myprj/myapp$ mkdir static
~/tmp/myprj/myapp$ echo 'alert("hello!");' > static/hello.js
~/tmp/myprj/myapp$ mkdir templates
~/tmp/myprj/myapp$ echo '<script src="{{ STATIC_URL }}hello.js"></script>' > templates/hello.html

Edit myprj/urls.py:

from django.conf.urls import patterns, include, url
from django.views.generic import TemplateView

class HelloView(TemplateView):
    template_name = "hello.html"

urlpatterns = patterns('',
    url(r'^$', HelloView.as_view(), name='hello'),
)

And run it:

~/tmp/myprj/myapp$ cd ..
~/tmp/myprj$ ./manage.py runserver

It works!

Java String to JSON conversion

Converting the String to JsonNode using ObjectMapper object :

ObjectMapper mapper = new ObjectMapper();

// For text string
JsonNode = mapper.readValue(mapper.writeValueAsString("Text-string"), JsonNode.class)

// For Array String
JsonNode = mapper.readValue("[\"Text-Array\"]"), JsonNode.class)

// For Json String
String json = "{\"id\" : \"1\"}";
ObjectMapper mapper = new ObjectMapper();
JsonFactory factory = mapper.getFactory();
JsonParser jsonParser = factory.createParser(json);
JsonNode node = mapper.readTree(jsonParser);

Difference between Subquery and Correlated Subquery

CORRELATED SUBQUERIES: Is evaluated for each row processed by the Main query. Execute the Inner query based on the value fetched by the Outer query. Continues till all the values returned by the main query are matched. The INNER Query is driven by the OUTER Query

Ex:

SELECT empno,fname,sal,deptid FROM emp e WHERE sal=(SELECT AVG(sal) FROM emp WHERE deptid=e.deptid)

The Correlated subquery specifically computes the AVG(sal) for each department.

SUBQUERY: Runs first,executed once,returns values to be used by the MAIN Query. The OUTER Query is driven by the INNER QUERY

JavaScript: replace last occurrence of text in a string

Old fashioned and big code but efficient as possible:

function replaceLast(origin,text){
    textLenght = text.length;
    originLen = origin.length
    if(textLenght == 0)
        return origin;

    start = originLen-textLenght;
    if(start < 0){
        return origin;
    }
    if(start == 0){
        return "";
    }
    for(i = start; i >= 0; i--){
        k = 0;
        while(origin[i+k] == text[k]){
            k++
            if(k == textLenght)
                break;
        }
        if(k == textLenght)
            break;
    }
    //not founded
    if(k != textLenght)
        return origin;

    //founded and i starts on correct and i+k is the first char after
    end = origin.substring(i+k,originLen);
    if(i == 0)
        return end;
    else{
        start = origin.substring(0,i)
        return (start + end);
    }
}

D3 Appending Text to a SVG Rectangle

Have you tried the SVG text element?

.append("text").text(function(d, i) { return d[whichevernode];})

rect element doesn't permit text element inside of it. It only allows descriptive elements (<desc>, <metadata>, <title>) and animation elements (<animate>, <animatecolor>, <animatemotion>, <animatetransform>, <mpath>, <set>)

Append the text element as a sibling and work on positioning.

Using g grouping, how about something like this? fiddle

You can certainly move the logic to a CSS class you can append to, remove from the group (this.parentNode)

Create iOS Home Screen Shortcuts on Chrome for iOS

Can't change the default browser, but try this (found online a while ago). Add a bookmark in Safari called "Open in Chrome" with the following.

javascript:location.href=%22googlechrome%22+location.href.substring(4);

Will open the current page in Chrome. Not as convenient, but maybe someone will find it useful.

Get Unix timestamp with C++

C++20 introduced a guarantee that time_since_epoch is relative to the UNIX epoch, and cppreference.com gives an example that I've distilled to the relevant code, and changed to units of seconds rather than hours:

#include <iostream>
#include <chrono>

int main()
{
    const auto p1 = std::chrono::system_clock::now();

    std::cout << "seconds since epoch: "
              << std::chrono::duration_cast<std::chrono::seconds>(
                   p1.time_since_epoch()).count() << '\n';
}

Using C++17 or earlier, time() is the simplest function - seconds since Epoch, which for Linux and UNIX at least would be the UNIX epoch. Linux manpage here.

The cppreference page linked above gives this example:

#include <ctime>
#include <iostream>

int main()
{
    std::time_t result = std::time(nullptr);
    std::cout << std::asctime(std::localtime(&result))
              << result << " seconds since the Epoch\n";
}

What is the garbage collector in Java?

Automatic garbage collection is a process where the JVM gets rid of or keeps certain data points in memory to ultimately free up space for the running program. Memory is first sent to heap memory, that is where the garbage collector (GC) does its work, then is decided to be terminated or kept. Java assumes that the programmer cannot always be trusted, so it terminates items it thinks it doesn't need.

shell script. how to extract string using regular expressions

One way would be with sed. For example:

echo $name | sed -e 's?http://www\.??'

Normally the sed regular expressions are delimited by `/', but you can use '?' since you're searching for '/'. Here's another bash trick. @DigitalTrauma's answer reminded me that I ought to suggest it. It's similar:

echo ${name#http://www.}

(DigitalTrauma also gets credit for reminding me that the "http://" needs to be handled.)

Find element's index in pandas Series

>>> myseries[myseries == 7]
3    7
dtype: int64
>>> myseries[myseries == 7].index[0]
3

Though I admit that there should be a better way to do that, but this at least avoids iterating and looping through the object and moves it to the C level.

How do you stop tracking a remote branch in Git?

The simplest way is to edit .git/config

Here is an example file

Send HTTP POST message in ASP.NET Core using HttpClient PostAsJsonAsync

Microsoft now recommends using an IHttpClientFactory with the following benefits:

  • Provides a central location for naming and configuring logical HttpClient instances. For example, a client named github could be registered and configured to access GitHub. A default client can be registered for general access.
  • Codifies the concept of outgoing middleware via delegating handlers in HttpClient. Provides extensions for Polly-based middleware to take advantage of delegating handlers in HttpClient.
  • Manages the pooling and lifetime of underlying HttpClientMessageHandler instances. Automatic management avoids common DNS (Domain Name System) problems that occur when manually managing HttpClient lifetimes.
  • Adds a configurable logging experience (via ILogger) for all requests sent through clients created by the factory.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/fundamentals/http-requests?view=aspnetcore-3.1

Setup:

public class Startup

    public void ConfigureServices(IServiceCollection services)
    {
        services.AddHttpClient();

How to import a SQL Server .bak file into MySQL?

For those attempting Richard's solution above, here are some additional information that might help navigate common errors:

1) When running restore filelistonly you may get Operating system error 5(Access is denied). If that's the case, open SQL Server Configuration Manager and change the login for SQLEXPRESS to a user that has local write privileges.

2) @"This will list the contents of the backup - what you need is the first fields that tell you the logical names" - if your file lists more than two headers you will need to also account for what to do with those files in the RESTORE DATABASE command. If you don't indicate what to do with files beyond the database and the log, the system will apparently try to use the attributes listed in the .bak file. Restoring a file from someone else's environment will produce a 'The path has invalid attributes. It needs to be a directory' (as the path in question doesn't exist on your machine). Simply providing a MOVE statement resolves this problem.

In my case there was a third FTData type file. The MOVE command I added:

MOVE 'mydbName_log' TO 'c:\temp\mydbName_data.ldf',
MOVE 'sysft_...' TO 'c:\temp\other';

in my case I actually had to make a new directory for the third file. Initially I tried to send it to the same folder as the .mdf file but that produced a 'failed to initialize correctly' error on the third FTData file when I executed the restore.

Tar error: Unexpected EOF in archive

May be you have ftped the file in ascii mode instead of binary mode ? If not, this might help.

$ gunzip myarchive.tar.gz

And then untar the resulting tar file using

$ tar xvf myarchive.tar

Hope this helps.

Modifying list while iterating

The general rule of thumb is that you don't modify a collection/array/list while iterating over it.

Use a secondary list to store the items you want to act upon and execute that logic in a loop after your initial loop.

Retrieve the position (X,Y) of an HTML element relative to the browser window

If page includes - at least- any "DIV", the function given by meouw throws the "Y" value beyond current page limits. In order to find the exact position, you need to handle both offsetParent's and parentNode's.

Try the code given below (it is checked for FF2):

var getAbsPosition = function(el){
    var el2 = el;
    var curtop = 0;
    var curleft = 0;
    if (document.getElementById || document.all) {
        do  {
            curleft += el.offsetLeft-el.scrollLeft;
            curtop += el.offsetTop-el.scrollTop;

Maybe you're not doing it as root?

Try sudo nginx -s reload, if it still doesn't work, you might want to try sudo pkill -HUP nginx.

How to get current time and date in C++?

The ffead-cpp provides multiple utility classes for various tasks, one such class is the Date class which provides a lot of features right from Date operations to date arithmetic, there's also a Timer class provided for timing operations. You can have a look at the same.

anyone an idea why? What's the difference?

Stack, Static, and Heap in C++

A similar question was asked, but it didn't ask about statics.

Summary of what static, heap, and stack memory are:

  • A static variable is basically a global variable, even if you cannot access it globally. Usually there is an address for it that is in the executable itself. There is only one copy for the entire program. No matter how many times you go into a function call (or class) (and in how many threads!) the variable is referring to the same memory location.

  • The heap is a bunch of memory that can be used dynamically. If you want 4kb for an object then the dynamic allocator will look through its list of free space in the heap, pick out a 4kb chunk, and give it to you. Generally, the dynamic memory allocator (malloc, new, et c.) starts at the end of memory and works backwards.

  • Explaining how a stack grows and shrinks is a bit outside the scope of this answer, but suffice to say you always add and remove from the end only. Stacks usually start high and grow down to lower addresses. You run out of memory when the stack meets the dynamic allocator somewhere in the middle (but refer to physical versus virtual memory and fragmentation). Multiple threads will require multiple stacks (the process generally reserves a minimum size for the stack).

When you would want to use each one:

  • Statics/globals are useful for memory that you know you will always need and you know that you don't ever want to deallocate. (By the way, embedded environments may be thought of as having only static memory... the stack and heap are part of a known address space shared by a third memory type: the program code. Programs will often do dynamic allocation out of their static memory when they need things like linked lists. But regardless, the static memory itself (the buffer) is not itself "allocated", but rather other objects are allocated out of the memory held by the buffer for this purpose. You can do this in non-embedded as well, and console games will frequently eschew the built in dynamic memory mechanisms in favor of tightly controlling the allocation process by using buffers of preset sizes for all allocations.)

  • Stack variables are useful for when you know that as long as the function is in scope (on the stack somewhere), you will want the variables to remain. Stacks are nice for variables that you need for the code where they are located, but which isn't needed outside that code. They are also really nice for when you are accessing a resource, like a file, and want the resource to automatically go away when you leave that code.

  • Heap allocations (dynamically allocated memory) is useful when you want to be more flexible than the above. Frequently, a function gets called to respond to an event (the user clicks the "create box" button). The proper response may require allocating a new object (a new Box object) that should stick around long after the function is exited, so it can't be on the stack. But you don't know how many boxes you would want at the start of the program, so it can't be a static.

Garbage Collection

I've heard a lot lately about how great Garbage Collectors are, so maybe a bit of a dissenting voice would be helpful.

Garbage Collection is a wonderful mechanism for when performance is not a huge issue. I hear GCs are getting better and more sophisticated, but the fact is, you may be forced to accept a performance penalty (depending upon use case). And if you're lazy, it still may not work properly. At the best of times, Garbage Collectors realize that your memory goes away when it realizes that there are no more references to it (see reference counting). But, if you have an object that refers to itself (possibly by referring to another object which refers back), then reference counting alone will not indicate that the memory can be deleted. In this case, the GC needs to look at the entire reference soup and figure out if there are any islands that are only referred to by themselves. Offhand, I'd guess that to be an O(n^2) operation, but whatever it is, it can get bad if you are at all concerned with performance. (Edit: Martin B points out that it is O(n) for reasonably efficient algorithms. That is still O(n) too much if you are concerned with performance and can deallocate in constant time without garbage collection.)

Personally, when I hear people say that C++ doesn't have garbage collection, my mind tags that as a feature of C++, but I'm probably in the minority. Probably the hardest thing for people to learn about programming in C and C++ are pointers and how to correctly handle their dynamic memory allocations. Some other languages, like Python, would be horrible without GC, so I think it comes down to what you want out of a language. If you want dependable performance, then C++ without garbage collection is the only thing this side of Fortran that I can think of. If you want ease of use and training wheels (to save you from crashing without requiring that you learn "proper" memory management), pick something with a GC. Even if you know how to manage memory well, it will save you time which you can spend optimizing other code. There really isn't much of a performance penalty anymore, but if you really need dependable performance (and the ability to know exactly what is going on, when, under the covers) then I'd stick with C++. There is a reason that every major game engine that I've ever heard of is in C++ (if not C or assembly). Python, et al are fine for scripting, but not the main game engine.

Xcode - Warning: Implicit declaration of function is invalid in C99

The function has to be declared before it's getting called. This could be done in various ways:

  • Write down the prototype in a header
    Use this if the function shall be callable from several source files. Just write your prototype
    int Fibonacci(int number);
    down in a .h file (e.g. myfunctions.h) and then #include "myfunctions.h" in the C code.

  • Move the function before it's getting called the first time
    This means, write down the function
    int Fibonacci(int number){..}
    before your main() function

  • Explicitly declare the function before it's getting called the first time
    This is the combination of the above flavors: type the prototype of the function in the C file before your main() function

As an additional note: if the function int Fibonacci(int number) shall only be used in the file where it's implemented, it shall be declared static, so that it's only visible in that translation unit.

Create an empty object in JavaScript with {} or new Object()?

Var Obj = {};

This is the most used and simplest method.

Using

var Obj = new Obj()

is not preferred.

There is no need to use new Object().

For simplicity, readability and execution speed, use the first one (the object literal method).

cin and getline skipping input

I faced this issue, and resolved this issue using getchar() to catch the ('\n') new char

"inappropriate ioctl for device"

I tried the following code that seemed to work:

}

Using PHP variables inside HTML tags?

I recommend using the short ' instead of ". If you do so, you wont longer have to escape the double quote (\").

In that case you would write

echo '<a href="http://www.whatever.com/'. $param .'">Click Here</a>';

But look onto nicolaas' answer "what you really should do" to learn how to produce cleaner code.

How do I import a sql data file into SQL Server?

Next, open the SQL file using File --> Open option. Select .sql file.

Once it is open, you can execute the file by pressing F5.

Is it correct to use DIV inside FORM?

Your question doesn't address what you want to put in the DIV tags, which is probably why you've received some incomplete/wrong answers. The truth is that you can, as Royi said, put DIV tags inside of your forms. You don't want to do this for labels, for instance, but if you have a form with a bunch of checkboxes that you want to lay out into three columns, then by all means, use DIV tags (or SPAN, HEADER, etc.) to accomplish the look and feel you're trying to achieve.

How to call a Python function from Node.js

Most of previous answers call the success of the promise in the on("data"), it is not the proper way to do it because if you receive a lot of data you will only get the first part. Instead you have to do it on the end event.

const { spawn } = require('child_process');
const pythonDir = (__dirname + "/../pythonCode/"); // Path of python script folder
const python = pythonDir + "pythonEnv/bin/python"; // Path of the Python interpreter

/** remove warning that you don't care about */
function cleanWarning(error) {
    return error.replace(/Detector is not able to detect the language reliably.\n/g,"");
}

function callPython(scriptName, args) {
    return new Promise(function(success, reject) {
        const script = pythonDir + scriptName;
        const pyArgs = [script, JSON.stringify(args) ]
        const pyprog = spawn(python, pyArgs );
        let result = "";
        let resultError = "";
        pyprog.stdout.on('data', function(data) {
            result += data.toString();
        });

        pyprog.stderr.on('data', (data) => {
            resultError += cleanWarning(data.toString());
        });

        pyprog.stdout.on("end", function(){
            if(resultError == "") {
                success(JSON.parse(result));
            }else{
                console.error(`Python error, you can reproduce the error with: \n${python} ${script} ${pyArgs.join(" ")}`);
                const error = new Error(resultError);
                console.error(error);
                reject(resultError);
            }
        })
   });
}
module.exports.callPython = callPython;

Call:

const pythonCaller = require("../core/pythonCaller");
const result = await pythonCaller.callPython("preprocessorSentiment.py", {"thekeyYouwant": value});

python:

try:
    argu = json.loads(sys.argv[1])
except:
    raise Exception("error while loading argument")

Display the binary representation of a number in C?

There is no direct way (i.e. using printf or another standard library function) to print it. You will have to write your own function.

/* This code has an obvious bug and another non-obvious one :) */
void printbits(unsigned char v) {
   for (; v; v >>= 1) putchar('0' + (v & 1));
}

If you're using terminal, you can use control codes to print out bytes in natural order:

void printbits(unsigned char v) {
    printf("%*s", (int)ceil(log2(v)) + 1, "");
    for (; v; v >>= 1) printf("\x1b[2D%c",'0' + (v & 1));
}

Android M - check runtime permission - how to determine if the user checked "Never ask again"?

You can check shouldShowRequestPermissionRationale() in your onRequestPermissionsResult().

shouldShowRequestPermissionRationale https://youtu.be/C8lUdPVSzDk?t=2m23s

Check whether permission was granted or not in onRequestPermissionsResult(). If not then check shouldShowRequestPermissionRationale().

  1. If this method returns true then show an explanation that why this particular permission is needed. Then depending on user's choice again requestPermissions().
  2. If it returns false then show an error message that permission was not granted and app cannot proceed further or a particular feature is disabled.

Below is sample code.

@Override
public void onRequestPermissionsResult(int requestCode, @NonNull String[] permissions, @NonNull int[] grantResults) {
    super.onRequestPermissionsResult(requestCode, permissions, grantResults);
    switch (requestCode) {
        case STORAGE_PERMISSION_REQUEST:
            if (grantResults.length > 0
                    && grantResults[0] == PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED) {
                // permission was granted :)
                downloadFile();
            } else {
                // permission was not granted
                if (getActivity() == null) {
                    return;
                }
                if (ActivityCompat.shouldShowRequestPermissionRationale(getActivity(), Manifest.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)) {
                    showStoragePermissionRationale();
                } else {
                    Snackbar snackbar = Snackbar.make(getView(), getResources().getString(R.string.message_no_storage_permission_snackbar), Snackbar.LENGTH_LONG);
                    snackbar.setAction(getResources().getString(R.string.settings), new View.OnClickListener() {
                        @Override
                        public void onClick(View v) {
                            if (getActivity() == null) {
                                return;
                            }
                            Intent intent = new Intent();
                            intent.setAction(Settings.ACTION_APPLICATION_DETAILS_SETTINGS);
                            Uri uri = Uri.fromParts("package", getActivity().getPackageName(), null);
                            intent.setData(uri);
                            OrderDetailFragment.this.startActivity(intent);
                        }
                    });
                    snackbar.show();
                }
            }
            break;
    }
}

Apparently, google maps does exactly this for location permission.

Add CSS to <head> with JavaScript?

Here's a simple way.

/**

 */
function addCssToDocument(css){
  var style = document.createElement('style')
  style.innerText = css
  document.head.appendChild(style)
}

Making href (anchor tag) request POST instead of GET?

Using jQuery it is very simple assuming the URL you wish to post to is on the same server or has implemented CORS

$(function() {
  $("#employeeLink").on("click",function(e) {
    e.preventDefault(); // cancel the link itself
    $.post(this.href,function(data) {
      $("#someContainer").html(data);
    });
  });
});

If you insist on using frames which I strongly discourage, have a form and submit it with the link

<form action="employee.action" method="post" target="myFrame" id="myForm"></form>

and use (in plain JS)

 window.addEventListener("load",function() {
   document.getElementById("employeeLink").addEventListener("click",function(e) {
     e.preventDefault(); // cancel the link
     document.getElementById("myForm").submit(); // but make sure nothing has name or ID="submit"
   });
 });

Without a form we need to make one

 window.addEventListener("load",function() {
   document.getElementById("employeeLink").addEventListener("click",function(e) {
     e.preventDefault(); // cancel the actual link
     var myForm = document.createElement("form");
     myForm.action=this.href;// the href of the link
     myForm.target="myFrame";
     myForm.method="POST";
     myForm.submit();
   });
 });

Check if a div does NOT exist with javascript

Check both my JavaScript and JQuery code :

JavaScript:

}

JQuery:

if (!$("#MyElementId").length){
    alert('Does not exist!');
}

How should I multiple insert multiple records?

If I were you I would not use either of them.

The disadvantage of the first one is that the parameter names might collide if there are same values in the list.

The disadvantage of the second one is that you are creating command and parameters for each entity.

The best way is to have the command text and parameters constructed once (use Parameters.Add to add the parameters) change their values in the loop and execute the command. That way the statement will be prepared only once. You should also open the connection before you start the loop and close it after it.

Fastest Convert from Collection to List<T>

Since 3.5, anything inherited from System.Collection.IEnumerable has the convenient extension method OfType available.

If your collection is from ICollection or IEnumerable, you can just do this:

List<ManagementObject> managementList = ManagementObjectCollection.OfType<ManagementObject>().ToList();

Can't find any way simpler. : )

Why doesn't "System.out.println" work in Android?

I dont having fancy IDE to use LogCat as I use a mobile IDE.

I had to use various other methods and I have the classes and utilties for you to use if you need.

  1. class jav.android.Msg. Has a collection of static methods. A: methods for printing android TOASTS. B: methods for popping up a dialog box. Each method requires a valid Context. You can set the default context.

  2. A more ambitious way, An Android Console. You instantiate a handle to the console in your app, which fires up the console(if it is installed), and you can write to the console. I recently updated the console to implement reading input from the console. Which doesnt return until the input is recieved, like a regular console. A: Download and install Android Console( get it from me) B: A java file is shipped with it(jav.android.console.IConsole). Place it at the appropriate directory. It contains the methods to operate Android Console. C: Call the constructor which completes the initialization. D: read<*> and write the console. There is still work to do. Namely, since OnServiceConnected is not called immediately, You cannot use IConsole in the same function you instantiated it.

  3. Before creating Android Console, I created Console Dialog, which was a dialog operating in the same app to resemble a console. Pro: no need to wait on OnServiceConnected to use it. Con: When app crashes, you dont get the message that crashed the app.

Since Android Console is a seperate app in a seperate process, if your app crashes, you definately get to see the error. Furthermore IConsole sets an uncaught exception handler in your app incase you are not keen in exception handling. It pretty much prints the stack traces and exception messages to Android Console. Finally, if Android Console crashes, it sends its stacktrace and exceptions to you and you can choose an app to read it. Actually, AndroidConsole is not required to crash.

Edit Extras I noticed that my while APK Builder has no LogCat; AIDE does. Then I realized a pro of using my Android Console anyhow.

  1. Android Console is design to take up only a portion of the screen, so you can see both your app, and data emitted from your app to the console. This is not possible with AIDE. So I I want to touch the screen and see coordinates, Android Console makes this easy.

  2. Android Console is designed to pop up when you write to it.

  3. Android Console will hide when you backpress.

In HTML I can make a checkmark with &#x2713; . Is there a corresponding X-mark?

Personally, I like to use named entities when they are available, because they make my HTML more readable. Because of that, I like to use &check; for ✓ and &cross; for ✗. If you're not sure whether a named entity exists for the character you want, try the &what search site. It includes the name for each entity, if there is one.

As mentioned in the comments, &check; and &cross; are not supported in HTML4, so you may be better off using the more cryptic &#x2713; and &#x2717; if you want to target the most browsers. The most definitive references I could find were on the W3C site: HTML4 and HTML5.

In the rules file, each device manufacturer is identified by a unique vendor ID, as specified by the ATTR{idVendor} property. For a list of vendor IDs, click here. To set up device detection on Ubuntu Linux:

  1. Log in as root and create this file: /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules.
  2. Use this format to add each vendor to the file:
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666", GROUP="plugdev"
    In this example, the vendor ID is for HTC. The MODE assignment specifies read/write permissions, and GROUP defines which Unix group owns the device node.
  3. Now execute: chmod a+r /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules

Note: The rule syntax may vary slightly depending on your environment. Consult the udev documentation for your system as needed. For an overview of rule syntax, see this guide to writing udev rules.

5. Run the project with your connected device.

With Eclipse/ADT: run or debug your application as usual. You will be presented with a Device Chooser dialog that lists the available emulator(s) and connected device(s).

With ADB: issue commands with the -d flag to target your connected device.

Installing Python packages from local file system folder to virtualenv with pip

Assuming you have virtualenv and a requirements.txt file, then you can define inside this file where to get the packages:

# Published pypi packages
PyJWT==1.6.4
email_validator==1.0.3
# Remote GIT repo package, this will install as django-bootstrap-themes
git+https://github.com/marquicus/django-bootstrap-themes#egg=django-bootstrap-themes
# Local GIT repo package, this will install as django-knowledge
git+file:///soft/SANDBOX/python/django/forks/django-knowledge#egg=django-knowledge

Obtain smallest value from array in Javascript?

Jon Resig illustrated in this article how this could be achieved by extending the Array prototype and invoking the underlying Math.min method which unfortunately doesn't take an array but a variable number of arguments:

Array.min = function( array ){
    return Math.min.apply( Math, array );
};

and then:

var minimum = Array.min(array);

How to make connection to Postgres via Node.js

Slonik is an alternative to answers proposed by Kuberchaun and Vitaly.

Slonik implements safe connection handling; you create a connection pool and connection opening/handling is handled for you.

import {
  createPool,
  sql
} from 'slonik';

const pool = createPool('postgres://user:password@host:port/database');

return pool.connect((connection) => {
  // You are now connected to the database.
  return connection.query(sql`SELECT foo()`);
})
  .then(() => {
    // You are no longer connected to the database.
  });

postgres://user:password@host:port/database is your connection string (or more canonically a connection URI or DSN).

The benefit of this approach is that your script ensures that you never accidentally leave hanging connections.

Other benefits for using Slonik include:

Accessing Redux state in an action creator?

Presenting an alternative way of solving this. This may be better or worse than Dan's solution, depending on your application.

You can get the state from the reducers into the actions by splitting the action in 2 separate functions: first ask for the data, second act on the data. You can do that by using redux-loop.

First 'kindly ask for the data'

export const SOME_ACTION = 'SOME_ACTION';
export function someAction() {
    return {
        type: SOME_ACTION,
    }
}

In the reducer, intercept the ask and provide the data to the second stage action by using redux-loop.

import { loop, Cmd } from 'redux-loop';
const initialState = { data: '' }
export default (state=initialState, action) => {
    switch(action.type) {
        case SOME_ACTION: {
            return loop(state, Cmd.action(anotherAction(state.data))
        }
    }
}

With the data in hand, do whatever you initially wanted

export const ANOTHER_ACTION = 'ANOTHER_ACTION';
export function anotherAction(data) {
    return {
        type: ANOTHER_ACTION,
        payload: data,
    }
}

Hope this helps someone.

Creating a timer in python

You can really simplify this whole program by using time.sleep:

import time
run = raw_input("Start? > ")
mins = 0
# Only run if the user types in "start"
if run == "start":
    # Loop until we reach 20 minutes running
    while mins != 20:
        print(">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> {}".format(mins))
        # Sleep for a minute
        time.sleep(60)
        # Increment the minute total
        mins += 1
    # Bring up the dialog box here

How to do a Postgresql subquery in select clause with join in from clause like SQL Server?

I'm not sure I understand your intent perfectly, but perhaps the following would be close to what you want:

select n1.name, n1.author_id, count_1, total_count
  from (select id, name, author_id, count(1) as count_1
          from names
          group by id, name, author_id) n1
inner join (select id, author_id, count(1) as total_count
              from names
              group by id, author_id) n2
  on (n2.id = n1.id and n2.author_id = n1.author_id)

Unfortunately this adds the requirement of grouping the first subquery by id as well as name and author_id, which I don't think was wanted. I'm not sure how to work around that, though, as you need to have id available to join in the second subquery. Perhaps someone else will come up with a better solution.

if block inside echo statement?

In sake of readability it should be something like

<?php
  $countries = $myaddress->get_countries();
  foreach($countries as $value) {
    $selected ='';
    if($value=='United States') $selected ='selected="selected"';
    echo '<option value="'.$value.'"'.$selected.'>'.$value.'</option>';
  }
?>

desire to stuff EVERYTHING in a single line is a decease, man. Write distinctly.

But there is another way, a better one. There is no need to use echo at all. Learn to use templates. Prepare your data first, and display it only then ready.

Business logic part:

$countries = $myaddress->get_countries();
$selected_country = 1;

Template part:

<? foreach($countries as $row): ?>
<option value="<?=$row['id']?>"<? if ($row['id']==$current_country):> "selected"><? endif ?>
  <?=$row['name']?>
</option>
<? endforeach ?>

What is the proper way to display the full InnerException?

I usually do like this to remove most of the noise:

void LogException(Exception error) {
    Exception realerror = error;
    while (realerror.InnerException != null)
        realerror = realerror.InnerException;

    Console.WriteLine(realerror.ToString())
}

Edit: I forgot about this answer and is surprised no one pointed out that you can just do

void LogException(Exception error) {
    Console.WriteLine(error.GetBaseException().ToString())
}

Reverse a string in Java

package ThingsInArray;

public class MagicWithSelectionSort {

    public static void main(String[] arg) {
        isSort("uhsnamiH");
    }

    private static void isSort(String name) {
        String revName="";
        for (int i = name.toCharArray().length-1; i >0 ; i--) {
            revName=revName+name.charAt(i);
        }
        System.out.println(revName);
    }

}

_DEBUG vs NDEBUG

Unfortunately DEBUG is overloaded heavily. For instance, it's recommended to always generate and save a pdb file for RELEASE builds. Which means one of the -Zx flags, and -DEBUG linker option. While _DEBUG relates to special debug versions of runtime library such as calls to malloc and free. Then NDEBUG will disable assertions.

Remove certain characters from a string

You can use Replace function as;

REPLACE ('Your String with cityname here', 'cityname', 'xyz')
--Results
'Your String with xyz here'

If you apply this to a table column where stringColumnName, cityName both are columns of YourTable

SELECT REPLACE(stringColumnName, cityName, '')
FROM YourTable

Or if you want to remove 'cityName' string from out put of a column then

SELECT REPLACE(stringColumnName, 'cityName', '')
FROM yourTable

EDIT: Since you have given more details now, REPLACE function is not the best method to sort your problem. Following is another way of doing it. Also @MartinSmith has given a good answer. Now you have the choice to select again.

SELECT RIGHT (O.Ort, LEN(O.Ort) - LEN(C.CityName)-1) As WithoutCityName
FROM   tblOrtsteileGeo O
       JOIN dbo.Cities C
         ON C.foo = O.foo
WHERE  O.GKZ = '06440004'

Importing large sql file to MySql via command line

Guys regarding time taken for importing huge files most importantly it takes more time is because default setting of mysql is "autocommit = true", you must set that off before importing your file and then check how import works like a gem...

First open MySQL:

mysql -u root -p

Then, You just need to do following :

mysql>use your_db

mysql>SET autocommit=0 ; source the_sql_file.sql ; COMMIT ;

What's the difference between align-content and align-items?

The align-items property of flex-box aligns the items inside a flex container along the cross axis just like justify-content does along the main axis. (For the default flex-direction: row the cross axis corresponds to vertical and the main axis corresponds to horizontal. With flex-direction: column those two are interchanged respectively).

Here's an example of how align-items:center looks:

align-items: center

But align-content is for multi line flexible boxes. It has no effect when items are in a single line. It aligns the whole structure according to its value. Here's an example for align-content: space-around;: enter image description here

And here's how align-content: space-around; with align-items:center looks: enter image description here

Note the 3rd box and all other boxes in first line change to vertically centered in that line.

Here are some codepen links to play with:

Here's a super cool pen which shows and lets you play with almost everything in flexbox.

How to iterate over the keys and values with ng-repeat in AngularJS?

we can follow below procedure to avoid display of key-values in alphabetical order.

How to change Vagrant 'default' machine name?

If you want to change anything else instead of 'default', then just add these additional lines to your Vagrantfile:

Change the basebox name, when using "vagrant status"

 config.vm.define "tendo" do |tendo|
  end

Where "tendo" will be the name that will appear instead of default

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xxxxxxx', database 'zzzzzzz', schema 'dbo'

Giving such permission can be dangerous, especially if your web application uses that same username.

Now the web user (and the whole world wide web) also has the permission to create and drop objects within your database. Think SQL Injection!

I recommend granting Execute privileges only to the specific user on the given object as follows:

grant execute on storedProcedureNameNoquotes to myusernameNoquotes

Now the user myusernameNoquotes can execute procedure storedProcedureNameNoquotes without other unnecessary permissions to your valuable data.

RegEx to exclude a specific string constant

In .NET you can use grouping to your advantage like this:

http://regexhero.net/tester/?id=65b32601-2326-4ece-912b-6dcefd883f31

You'll notice that:

(ABC)|(.)

Will grab everything except ABC in the 2nd group. Parenthesis surround each group. So (ABC) is group 1 and (.) is group 2.

So you just grab the 2nd group like this in a replace:

$2

Or in .NET look at the Groups collection inside the Regex class for a little more control.

You should be able to do something similar in most other regex implementations as well.

UPDATE: I found a much faster way to do this here: http://regexhero.net/tester/?id=997ce4a2-878c-41f2-9d28-34e0c5080e03

It still uses grouping (I can't find a way that doesn't use grouping). But this method is over 10X faster than the first.

Prevent overwriting a file using cmd if exist

I noticed some issues with this that might be useful for someone just starting, or a somewhat inexperienced user, to know. First...

CD /D "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Start Menu\Programs\"

two things one is that a /D after the CD may prove to be useful in making sure the directory is changed but it's not really necessary, second, if you are going to pass this from user to user you have to add, instead of your name, the code %username%, this makes the code usable on any computer, as long as they have your setup.exe file in the same location as you do on your computer. of course making sure of that is more difficult. also...

start \\filer\repo\lab\"software"\"myapp"\setup.exe

the start code here, can be set up like that, but the correct syntax is

start "\\filter\repo\lab\software\myapp\" setup.exe

This will run: setup.exe, located in: \filter\repo\lab...etc.\

Tomcat 8 throwing - org.apache.catalina.webresources.Cache.getResource Unable to add the resource

This isn’t a solution in the sense that it doesn’t resolve the conditions which cause the message to appear in the logs, but the message can be suppressed by appending the following to conf/logging.properties:

org.apache.catalina.webresources.Cache.level = SEVERE

This filters out the “Unable to add the resource” logs, which are at level WARNING.

In my view a WARNING is not necessarily an error that needs to be addressed, but rather can be ignored if desired.

Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_assoc() on a non-object

Most likely your query failed, and the query call returned a boolean FALSE (or an error object of some sort), which you then try to use as if was a resultset object, causing the error. Try something like var_dump($result) to see what you really got.

Check for errors after EVERY database query call. Even if the query itself is syntactically valid, there's far too many reasons for it to fail anyways - checking for errors every time will save you a lot of grief at some point.

Height of status bar in Android

Out of all the code samples I've used to get the height of the status bar, the only one that actually appears to work in the onCreate method of an Activity is this:

public int getStatusBarHeight() {
    int result = 0;
    int resourceId = getResources().getIdentifier("status_bar_height", "dimen", "android");
    if (resourceId > 0) {
        result = getResources().getDimensionPixelSize(resourceId);
    }
    return result;
}

Apparently the actual height of the status bar is kept as an Android resource. The above code can be added to a ContextWrapper class (e.g. an Activity).

Best way to check if an PowerShell Object exist?

In your particular example perhaps you do not have to perform any checks at all. Is that possible that New-Object return null? I have never seen that. The command should fail in case of a problem and the rest of the code in the example will not be executed. So why should we do that checks at all?

Only in the code like below we need some checks (explicit comparison with $null is the best):

# we just try to get a new object
$ie = $null
try {
    $ie = New-Object -ComObject InternetExplorer.Application
}
catch {
    Write-Warning $_
}

# check and continuation
if ($ie -ne $null) {

}

Postfix is installed but how do I test it?

(I just got this working, with my main issue being that I don't have a real internet hostname, so answering this question in case it helps someone)

You need to specify a hostname with HELO. Even so, you should get an error, so Postfix is probably not running.

Also, the => is not a command. The '.' on a single line without any text around it is what tells Postfix that the entry is complete. Here are the entries I used:

telnet localhost 25
(says connected)
EHLO howdy.com
(returns a bunch of 250 codes)
MAIL FROM: [email protected]
RCPT TO: (use a real email address you want to send to)
DATA (type whatever you want on muliple lines)
. (this on a single line tells Postfix that the DATA is complete)

You should get a response like:

250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 6E414C4643A

The email will probably end up in a junk folder. If it is not showing up, then you probably need to setup the 'Postfix on hosts without a real Internet hostname'. Here is the breakdown on how I completed that step on my Ubuntu box:

sudo vim /etc/postfix/main.cf
smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic (add this line somewhere)
(edit or create the file 'generic' if it doesn't exist)
sudo vim /etc/postfix/generic
(add these lines, I don't think it matters what names you use, at least to test)
[email protected]             [email protected]
[email protected]             [email protected]
@localdomain.local                [email protected]
then run:
postmap /etc/postfix/generic (this needs to be run whenever you change the
generic file)

    throw new RuntimeException("hu?\ntrace-line1\ntrace-line2");
} catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage()); // prints "hu?"
}

So maybe the code you are calling catches an exception and rethrows a ScriptException. In this case maybe e.getCause().getMessage() can help you.

My C# application is returning 0xE0434352 to Windows Task Scheduler but it is not crashing

I had this issue and it was due to the .Net framework version. I had upgraded the build to framework 4.0 but this seemed to affect some comms dlls the application was using. I rolled back to framework 3.5 and it worked fine.

Error: Could not find or load main class in intelliJ IDE

This might help:

1) "Build" menu -> "Rebuild Project". Sometimes Intellij doesn't rewrite the classes because they already exist, this way you ask Intellij to rewrite everything.

2) "Run" menu -> "Edit configuration" -> delete the profile -> add back the profile ("Application" if it's a Java application), choose your main class from the "Main Class" dropdown menu.

3)"Build" menu -> "Rebuild Project".

CSS Margin: 0 is not setting to 0

It seems that nobody actually read your question and looked at your source code. Here's the answer you all have been waiting for:

#header_content p {
    margin-top: 0;
}

Add button to a layout programmatically

If you just have included a layout file at the beginning of onCreate() inside setContentView and want to get this layout to add new elements programmatically try this:

ViewGroup linearLayout = (ViewGroup) findViewById(R.id.linearLayoutID);

then you can create a new Button for example and just add it:

Button bt = new Button(this);
bt.setText("A Button");
bt.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT,
                                    LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT));
linerLayout.addView(bt);
