Programs & Examples On #Pdflib

PDFlib is a library for generating and manipulating files in Adobe’s well known Portable Document Format (PDF).

Documentation for using JavaScript code inside a PDF file

The comprehensive place for Acrobat JavaScript documentation is the Acrobat SDK, which can be downloaded from the Adobe website. In the Documentation section, you will find all the material needed to work with Acrobat JavaScript.

To complete the documentation you may in addition get the specification of the JavaScript Core. My book of choice for that is "JavaScript, the Definitive Guide" by David Flanagan, published by O'Reilly.

Which one is the best PDF-API for PHP?

The Zend Framework's Zend_Pdf is really good. It's on par with pdflib in terms of control of output and complexity and is more portable because its a pure php solution. That said, its slower and uses more memory than pdflib. Pecl modules are always more efficient than a php solution.

DOMPdf is the easiest way to make a pdf quickly. Like Mike said, feed it html and it outputs a pdf. Under the hood, it has the option to use either r&ospdf or pdflib as the rendering engine.

WHERE vs HAVING

WHERE filters before data is grouped, and HAVING filters after data is grouped. This is an important distinction; rows that are eliminated by a WHERE clause will not be included in the group. This could change the calculated values which, in turn(=as a result) could affect which groups are filtered based on the use of those values in the HAVING clause.

And continues,

HAVING is so similar to WHERE that most DBMSs treat them as the same thing if no GROUP BY is specified. Nevertheless, you should make that distinction yourself. Use HAVING only in conjunction with GROUP BY clauses. Use WHERE for standard row-level filtering.

What are rvalues, lvalues, xvalues, glvalues, and prvalues?

As the previous answers exhaustively covered the theory behind the value categories, there is just another thing I'd like to add: you can actually play with it and test it.

For some hands-on experimentation with the value categories, you can make use of the decltype specifier. Its behavior explicitly distinguishes between the three primary value categories (xvalue, lvalue, and prvalue).

Using the preprocessor saves us some typing ...

Primary categories:

#define IS_XVALUE(X) std::is_rvalue_reference<decltype((X))>::value
#define IS_LVALUE(X) std::is_lvalue_reference<decltype((X))>::value
#define IS_PRVALUE(X) !std::is_reference<decltype((X))>::value

Mixed categories:

#define IS_GLVALUE(X) (IS_LVALUE(X) || IS_XVALUE(X))
#define IS_RVALUE(X) (IS_PRVALUE(X) || IS_XVALUE(X))

Now we can reproduce (almost) all the examples from cppreference on value category.

Here are some examples with C++17 (for terse static_assert):

void doesNothing(){}
struct S
{
    int x{0};
};
int x = 1;
int y = 2;
S s;

static_assert(IS_LVALUE(x));
static_assert(IS_LVALUE(x+=y));
static_assert(IS_LVALUE("Hello world!"));
static_assert(IS_LVALUE(++x));

static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(1));
static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(x++));
static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(static_cast<double>(x)));
static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(std::string{}));
static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(throw std::exception()));
static_assert(IS_PRVALUE(doesNothing()));

static_assert(IS_XVALUE(std::move(s)));
// The next one doesn't work in gcc 8.2 but in gcc 9.1. Clang 7.0.0 and msvc 19.16 are doing fine.
static_assert(IS_XVALUE(S().x));

The mixed categories are kind of boring once you figured out the primary category.

For some more examples (and experimentation), check out the following link on compiler explorer. Don't bother reading the assembly, though. I added a lot of compilers just to make sure it works across all the common compilers.

Cross-reference (named anchor) in markdown

There's no readily available syntax to do this in the original Markdown syntax, but Markdown Extra provides a means to at least assign IDs to headers — which you can then link to easily. Note also that you can use regular HTML in both Markdown and Markdown Extra, and that the name attribute has been superseded by the id attribute in more recent versions of HTML.

sql - insert into multiple tables in one query

I had the same problem. I solve it with a for loop.

Example:

If I want to write in 2 identical tables, using a loop

for x = 0 to 1

 if x = 0 then TableToWrite = "Table1"
 if x = 1 then TableToWrite = "Table2"
  Sql = "INSERT INTO " & TableToWrite & " VALUES ('1','2','3')"
NEXT

either

ArrTable = ("Table1", "Table2")

for xArrTable = 0 to Ubound(ArrTable)
 Sql = "INSERT INTO " & ArrTable(xArrTable) & " VALUES ('1','2','3')"
NEXT

If you have a small query I don't know if this is the best solution, but if you your query is very big and it is inside a dynamical script with if/else/case conditions this is a good solution.

jQuery validate Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'nodeName' of null

I have found the problem.

The problem was that the HTML I was trying to validate was not contained within a <form>...</form> tag.

As soon as I did that, I had a context that was not null.

Reduce size of legend area in barplot

The cex parameter will do that for you.

a <- c(3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 2 )
barplot(a, beside = T,
        col = 1:6, space = c(0, 2))
legend("topright",
       legend = c("a", "b", "c", "d", "e", "f"),
       fill = 1:6, ncol = 2,
       cex = 0.75)

The plot

Shuffling a list of objects

You can go for this:

>>> A = ['r','a','n','d','o','m']
>>> B = [1,2,3,4,5,6]
>>> import random
>>> random.sample(A+B, len(A+B))
[3, 'r', 4, 'n', 6, 5, 'm', 2, 1, 'a', 'o', 'd']

if you want to go back to two lists, you then split this long list into two.

Split text file into smaller multiple text file using command line

This "File Splitter" Windows command line program works nicely: https://github.com/dubasdey/File-Splitter

It's open source, simple, documented, proven, and worked for me.

Example:

How to diff a commit with its parent?

If you know how far back, you can try something like:

# Current branch vs. parent
git diff HEAD^ HEAD

# Current branch, diff between commits 2 and 3 times back
git diff HEAD~3 HEAD~2

Prior commits work something like this:

# Parent of HEAD
git show HEAD^1

# Grandparent
git show HEAD^2

There are a lot of ways you can specify commits:

# Great grandparent
git show HEAD~3

Using Vim's tabs like buffers

This is an answer for those not familiar with Vim and coming from other text editors (in my case Sublime Text).

I read through all these answers and it still wasn't clear. If you read through them enough things begin to make sense, but it took me hours of going back and forth between questions.

The first thing is, as others have explained:

Tab Pages, sound a lot like tabs, they act like tabs and look a lot like tabs in most other GUI editors, but they're not. I think it's an a bad mental model that was built on in Vim, which unfortunately clouds the extra power that you have within a tab page.

The first description that I understood was from @crenate's answer is that they are the equivalent to multiple desktops. When seen in that regard you'd only ever have a couple of desktops open but have lots of GUI windows open within each one.

I would say they are similar to in other editors/browsers:

  1. Tab groupings
  2. Sublime Text workspaces (i.e. a list of the open files that you have in a project)

When you see them like that you realise the power of them that you can easily group sets of files (buffers) together e.g. your CSS files, your HTML files and your JS files in different tab pages. Which is actually pretty awesome.

Other descriptions that I find confusing

Viewport

This makes no sense to me. A viewport which although it does have a defined dictionary term, I've only heard referring to Vim windows in the :help window doc. Viewport is not a term I've ever heard with regards to editors like Sublime Text, Visual Studio, Atom, Notepad++. In fact I'd never heard about it for Vim until I started to try using tab pages.

If you view tab pages like multiple desktops, then referring to a desktop as a single window seems odd.

Workspaces

This possibly makes more sense, the dictionary definition is:

A memory storage facility for temporary use.

So it's like a place where you store a group of buffers.

I didn't initially sound like Sublime Text's concept of a workspace which is a list of all the files that you have open in your project:

the sublime-workspace file, which contains user specific data, such as the open files and the modifications to each.

However thinking about it more, this does actually agree. If you regard a Vim tab page like a Sublime Text project, then it would seem odd to have just one file open in each project and keep switching between projects. Hence why using a tab page to have open only one file is odd.

Collection of windows

The :help window refers to tab pages this way. Plus numerous other answers use the same concept. However until you get your head around what a vim window is, then that's not much use, like building a castle on sand.

As I referred to above, a vim window is the same as a viewport and quiet excellently explained in this linux.com article:

A really useful feature in Vim is the ability to split the viewable area between one or more files, or just to split the window to view two bits of the same file more easily. The Vim documentation refers to this as a viewport or window, interchangeably.

You may already be familiar with this feature if you've ever used Vim's help feature by using :help topic or pressing the F1 key. When you enter help, Vim splits the viewport and opens the help documentation in the top viewport, leaving your document open in the bottom viewport.

I find it odd that a tab page is referred to as a collection of windows instead of a collection of buffers. But I guess you can have two separate tab pages open each with multiple windows all pointing at the same buffer, at least that's what I understand so far.

What should I do when 'svn cleanup' fails?

I had the exact same problem. I couldn't commit, and cleanup would fail.

Using a command-line client I was able to see an error message indicating that it was failing to move a file from .svn/props to .svn/prop-base.

I looked at the specific file and found that it was marked read-only. After removing the read-only attribute I was able to cleanup the folder and the commit my changes.

Creating and playing a sound in swift

Swift code example:

import UIKit
import AudioToolbox

class ViewController: UIViewController {

override func viewDidLoad() {

}

@IBAction func notePressed(_ sender: UIButton) {

    if let soundURL = Bundle.main.url(forResource: "note1", withExtension: "wav") {
        var mySound: SystemSoundID = 0

    // Play

        AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(mySound);
    }
}

importing a CSV into phpmyadmin

Using the LOAD DATA INFILE SQL statement you can import the CSV file, but you can't update data. However, there is a trick you can use.

  • Create another temporary table to use for the import
  • Load onto this table from the CSC

    LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/file.csv'
    INTO TABLE temp_table
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    LINES TERMINATED BY '\n'
    (field1, field2, field3);

  • UPDATE the real table joining the table

    UPDATE maintable
    INNER JOIN temp_table A USING (field1)
    SET maintable.field1 = temp_table.field1

Python Set Comprehension

You can generate pairs like this:

{(x, x + 2) for x in r if x + 2 in r}

Then all that is left to do is to get a condition to make them prime, which you have already done in the first example.

A different way of doing it: (Although slower for large sets of primes)

{(x, y) for x in r for y in r if x + 2 == y}

Returning first x items from array

If you just want to output the first 5 elements, you should write something like:

<?php

  if (!empty ( $an_array ) ) {

    $min = min ( count ( $an_array ), 5 );

    $i = 0;

    foreach ($value in $an_array) {

      echo $value;
      $i++;
      if ($i == $min) break;

    }

  }

?>

If you want to write a function which returns part of the array, you should use array_slice:

<?php

  function GetElements( $an_array, $elements ) {
    return array_slice( $an_array, 0, $elements );
  }

?>

Saving numpy array to txt file row wise

Display QImage with QtGui

Thanks All, I found how to do it, which is the same as Dave and Sergey:

I am using QT Creator:

In the main GUI window create using the drag drop GUI and create label (e.g. "myLabel")

In the callback of the button (clicked) do the following using the (*ui) pointer to the user interface window:

void MainWindow::on_pushButton_clicked()
{
     QImage imageObject;
     imageObject.load(imagePath);
     ui->myLabel->setPixmap(QPixmap::fromImage(imageObject));

     //OR use the other way by setting the Pixmap directly

     QPixmap pixmapObject(imagePath");
     ui->myLabel2->setPixmap(pixmapObject);
}

How can I avoid ResultSet is closed exception in Java?

make sure you have closed all your statments and resultsets before running rs.next. Finaly guarantees this

        ps.setInt( 2, idStatus );

        rs = ps.executeQuery();

        Long count = 0L;

        if ( rs != null ) {
            while ( rs.next() ) {
                count = rs.getLong( 1 );
                break;
            }
        }

        LogUtil.logSuccessMethod();

        return count > 0L;
    } catch ( Exception e ) {
        String errorMsg = String

Python Finding Prime Factors

For prime number generation I always use Sieve of Eratosthenes:

def primes(n):
    if n<=2:
        return []
    sieve=[True]*(n+1)
    for x in range(3,int(n**0.5)+1,2):
        for y in range(3,(n//x)+1,2):
            sieve[(x*y)]=False

    return [2]+[i for i in range(3,n,2) if sieve[i]]

In [42]: %timeit primes(10**5)
10 loops, best of 3: 60.4 ms per loop

In [43]: %timeit primes(10**6)
1 loops, best of 3: 1.01 s per loop

You can use Miller-Rabin primality test to check whether a number is prime or not. You can find its Python implementations here.

Always use timeit module to time your code, the 2nd one takes just 15us:

def func():
    n = 600851475143
    i = 2
    while i * i < n:
         while n % i == 0:
            n = n / i
         i = i + 1

In [19]: %timeit func()
1000 loops, best of 3: 1.35 ms per loop

def func():
    i=1
    while i<100:i+=1
   ....:

In [21]: %timeit func()
10000 loops, best of 3: 15.3 us per loop

Removing elements by class name?

If you prefer not to use JQuery:

function removeElementsByClass(className){

How to merge 2 JSON objects from 2 files using jq?

First, {"value": .value} can be abbreviated to just {value}.

Second, the --argfile option (available in jq 1.4 and jq 1.5) may be of interest as it avoids having to use the --slurp option.

Putting these together, the two objects in the two files can be combined in the specified way as follows:

$ jq -n --argfile o1 file1 --argfile o2 file2 '$o1 * $o2 | {value}'

The '-n' flag tells jq not to read from stdin, since inputs are coming from the --argfile options here.

Note on --argfile

The jq manual deprecates --argfile because its semantics are non-trivial: if the specified input file contains exactly one JSON entity, then that entity is read as is; otherwise, the items in the stream are wrapped in an array.

If you are uncomfortable using --argfile, there are several alternatives you may wish to consider. In doing so, be assured that using --slurpfile does not incur the inefficiencies of the -s command-line option when the latter is used with multiple files.

How to add a class with React.js?

this is pretty useful:

https://github.com/JedWatson/classnames

You can do stuff like

classNames('foo', 'bar'); // => 'foo bar'
classNames('foo', { bar: true }); // => 'foo bar'
classNames({ 'foo-bar': true }); // => 'foo-bar'
classNames({ 'foo-bar': false }); // => ''
classNames({ foo: true }, { bar: true }); // => 'foo bar'
classNames({ foo: true, bar: true }); // => 'foo bar'

// lots of arguments of various types
classNames('foo', { bar: true, duck: false }, 'baz', { quux: true }); // => 'foo bar baz quux'

// other falsy values are just ignored
classNames(null, false, 'bar', undefined, 0, 1, { baz: null }, ''); // => 'bar 1'

or use it like this

var btnClass = classNames('btn', this.props.className, {
  'btn-pressed': this.state.isPressed,
  'btn-over': !this.state.isPressed && this.state.isHovered
});

Convert number to month name in PHP

A simple tricks here you can use strtotime() function workable as per your need, a convert number to month name.

1.If you want a result in Jan, Feb and Mar Then try below one with the 'M' as a parameter inside the date.

$month=5;
$nmonth = date('M',strtotime("01-".$month."-".date("Y")));
echo $nmonth;

Output : May

/2. You can try with the 'F' instead of 'M' to get the full month name as an output January February March etc.

$month=1;
$nmonth = date('M',strtotime("01-".$month."-".date("Y")));
echo $nmonth;

Output : January

NSRange from Swift Range?

The answers are fine, but with Swift 4 you could simplify your code a bit:

let text = "Test string"
let substring = "string"

let substringRange = text.range(of: substring)!
let nsRange = NSRange(substringRange, in: text)

Be cautious, as the result of range function has to be unwrapped.

CSV API for Java

Reading CSV format description makes me feel that using 3rd party library would be less headache than writing it myself:

Wikipedia lists 10 or something known libraries:

I compared libs listed using some kind of check list. OpenCSV turned out a winner to me (YMMV) with the following results:

+ maven

+ maven - release version // had some cryptic issues at _Hudson_ with snapshot references => prefer to be on a safe side

+ code examples

+ open source // as in "can hack myself if needed"

+ understandable javadoc // as opposed to eg javadocs of _genjava gj-csv_

+ compact API // YAGNI (note *flatpack* seems to have much richer API than OpenCSV)

- reference to specification used // I really like it when people can explain what they're doing

- reference to _RFC 4180_ support // would qualify as simplest form of specification to me

- releases changelog // absence is quite a pity, given how simple it'd be to get with maven-changes-plugin // _flatpack_, for comparison, has quite helpful changelog

+ bug tracking

+ active // as in "can submit a bug and expect a fixed release soon"

+ positive feedback // Recommended By 51 users at sourceforge (as of now)

OpenMP set_num_threads() is not working

Besides calling omp_get_num_threads() outside of the parallel region in your case, calling omp_set_num_threads() still doesn't guarantee that the OpenMP runtime will use exactly the specified number of threads. omp_set_num_threads() is used to override the value of the environment variable OMP_NUM_THREADS and they both control the upper limit of the size of the thread team that OpenMP would spawn for all parallel regions (in the case of OMP_NUM_THREADS) or for any consequent parallel region (after a call to omp_set_num_threads()). There is something called dynamic teams that could still pick smaller number of threads if the run-time system deems it more appropriate. You can disable dynamic teams by calling omp_set_dynamic(0) or by setting the environment variable OMP_DYNAMIC to false.

To enforce a given number of threads you should disable dynamic teams and specify the desired number of threads with either omp_set_num_threads():

omp_set_dynamic(0); // Explicitly disable dynamic teams
omp_set_num_threads(4); // Use 4 threads for all consecutive parallel regions
#pragma omp parallel ...
{
    ... 4 threads used here ...
}

or with the num_threads OpenMP clause:

omp_set_dynamic(0); // Explicitly disable dynamic teams
// Spawn 4 threads for this parallel region only
#pragma omp parallel ... num_threads(4)
{
    ... 4 threads used here ...
}

batch file to check 64bit or 32bit OS

The correct way, as SAM write before is:

reg Query "HKLM\Hardware\Description\System\CentralProcessor\0" /v "Identifier" | find /i "x86" > NUL && set OS=32BIT || set OS=64BIT

but with /v "Identifier" a little bit correct.

Filter object properties by key in ES6

The cleanest way you can find is with Lodash#pick

const _ = require('lodash');

const allowed = ['item1', 'item3'];

const obj = {
  item1: { key: 'sdfd', value:'sdfd' },
  item2: { key: 'sdfd', value:'sdfd' },
  item3: { key: 'sdfd', value:'sdfd' }
}

const filteredObj = _.pick(obj, allowed)

NodeJS - What does "socket hang up" actually mean?

I my case it's was not an error, but expected behavior for chrome browser. Chrome keeps tls connection alive (for speed i think), but node.js server stop it after 2 min and you get an error.

If you try GET request using edge browser, there will be no error at all. If you will close chrome window - you will get error right away.

So what to do? 1)You can filter this errors, because they are not really errors. 2)Maybe there is a better solution :)

iOS Detection of Screenshot?

Looks like there are no direct way to do this to detect if user has tapped on home + power button. As per this, it was possible earlier by using darwin notification, but it doesn't work any more. Since snapchat is already doing it, my guess is that they are checking the iPhone photo album to detect if there is a new picture got added in between this 10 seconds, and in someway they are comparing with the current image displayed. May be some image processing is done for this comparison. Just a thought, probably you can try to expand this to make it work. Check this for more details.

Edit:

Looks like they might be detecting the UITouch cancel event(Screen capture cancels touches) and showing this error message to the user as per this blog: How to detect screenshots on iOS (like SnapChat)

In that case you can use – touchesCancelled:withEvent: method to sense the UITouch cancellation to detect this. You can remove the image in this delegate method and show an appropriate alert to the user.

- (void)touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event
{
    [super touchesCancelled:touches withEvent:event];

    NSLog(@"Touches cancelled");

    [self.imageView removeFromSuperView]; //and show an alert to the user
}

Adding two Java 8 streams, or an extra element to a stream

If you don't mind using 3rd Party Libraries cyclops-react has an extended Stream type that will allow you to do just that via the append / prepend operators.

Individual values, arrays, iterables, Streams or reactive-streams Publishers can be appended and prepended as instance methods.

Stream stream = ReactiveSeq.of(1,2)
                           .filter(x -> x!=0)
                           .append(ReactiveSeq.of(3,4))
                           .filter(x -> x!=1)
                           .append(5)
                           .filter(x -> x!=2);

[Disclosure I am the lead developer of cyclops-react]

JFrame Exit on close Java

You need the line

frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);

Because the default behaviour for the JFrame when you press the X button is the equivalent to

frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.HIDE_ON_CLOSE);

So almost all the times you'll need to add that line manually when creating your JFrame

I am currently referring to constants in WindowConstants like WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE instead of the same constants declared directly in JFrame as the prior reflect better the intent.

How to create a DataTable in C# and how to add rows?

You can write one liner using DataRow.Add(params object[] values) instead of four lines.

dt.Rows.Add("Ravi", "500");

As you create new DataTable object, there seems no need to Clear DataTable in very next statement. You can also use DataTable.Columns.AddRange to add columns with on statement. Complete code would be.

DataTable dt = new DataTable();
dt.Columns.AddRange(new DataColumn[] { new DataColumn("Name"), new DataColumn("Marks") });
dt.Rows.Add("Ravi", "500");

Android: Rotate image in imageview by an angle

If you're supporting API 11 or higher, you can just use the following XML attribute:

android:rotation="90"

It might not display correctly in Android Studio xml preview, but it works as expected.

Reset select2 value and show placeholder

If you want to clear all select2 inputs when closing a modal for instance then you can add a class "select2" and set them all back to their place holders like so.

$('#myModal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function (e) {
    $(this)
        .find(".select2").select2({placeholder: "Choose an option"})
        .val('').trigger('change.select2');
});

This approach of resetting all at once can be used for forms either. The version is which this is working for me is 4.0.10

You could use a ArrayList instead of array. So that you can add n number of elements

preg_match in JavaScript?

JavaScript has a RegExp object which does what you want. The String object has a match() function that will help you out.

var matches = text.match(/price\[(\d+)\]\[(\d+)\]/);
var productId = matches[1];
var shopId    = matches[2];

exec failed because the name not a valid identifier?

As was in my case if your sql is generated by concatenating or uses converts then sql at execute need to be prefixed with letter N as below

e.g.

Exec N'Select bla..'

the N defines string literal is unicode.

JavaScript open in a new window, not tab

You don't need to use height, just make sure you use _blank, Without it, it opens in a new tab.

For a empty window:

window.open('', '_blank', 'toolbar=0,location=0,menubar=0');

For a specific URL:

window.open('http://www.google.com', '_blank', 'toolbar=0,location=0,menubar=0');

What datatype should be used for storing phone numbers in SQL Server 2005?

Does this include:

  • International numbers?
  • Extensions?
  • Other information besides the actual number (like "ask for bobby")?

If all of these are no, I would use a 10 char field and strip out all non-numeric data. If the first is a yes and the other two are no, I'd use two varchar(50) fields, one for the original input and one with all non-numeric data striped and used for indexing. If 2 or 3 are yes, I think I'd do two fields and some kind of crazy parser to determine what is extension or other data and deal with it appropriately. Of course you could avoid the 2nd column by doing something with the index where it strips out the extra characters when creating the index, but I'd just make a second column and probably do the stripping of characters with a trigger.

Update: to address the AJAX issue, it may not be as bad as you think. If this is realistically the main way anything is done to the table, store only the digits in a secondary column as I said, and then make the index for that column the clustered one.

How to move all files including hidden files into parent directory via *

Let me introduce you to my friend "dotglob". It turns on and off whether or not "*" includes hidden files.

$ mkdir test
$ cd test
$ touch a b c .hidden .hi .den
$ ls -a
. ..  .den  .hi .hidden a b c

$ shopt -u dotglob
$ ls *
a b c
$ for i in * ; do echo I found: $i ; done
I found: a
I found: b
I found: c

$ shopt -s dotglob
$ ls *
.den  .hi .hidden a b c
$ for i in * ; do echo I found: $i ; done
I found: .den
I found: .hi
I found: .hidden
I found: a
I found: b
I found: c

It defaults to "off".

$ shopt dotglob
dotglob         off

It is best to turn it back on when you are done otherwise you will confuse things that assume it will be off.

How does one use glide to download an image into a bitmap?

UPDATE

Now we need to use Custom Targets

SAMPLE CODE

    Glide.with(mContext)
            .asBitmap()
            .load("url")
            .into(new CustomTarget<Bitmap>() {
                @Override
                public void onResourceReady(@NonNull Bitmap resource, @Nullable Transition<? super Bitmap> transition) {

                }

                @Override
                public void onLoadCleared(@Nullable Drawable placeholder) {
                }
            });

How does one use glide to download an image into a bitmap?

The above all answer are correct but outdated

because in new version of Glide implementation 'com.github.bumptech.glide:glide:4.8.0'

You will find below error in code

  • The .asBitmap() is not available in glide:4.8.0

  • SimpleTarget<Bitmap> is deprecated

Usage of unicode() and encode() functions in Python

str is text representation in bytes, unicode is text representation in characters.

You decode text from bytes to unicode and encode a unicode into bytes with some encoding.

That is:

>>> 'abc'.decode('utf-8')  # str to unicode
u'abc'
>>> u'abc'.encode('utf-8') # unicode to str
'abc'

UPD Sep 2020: The answer was written when Python 2 was mostly used. In Python 3, str was renamed to bytes, and unicode was renamed to str.

>>> b'abc'.decode('utf-8') # bytes to str
'abc'
>>> 'abc'.encode('utf-8'). # str to bytes
b'abc'

How can I export data to an Excel file

MS provides the OpenXML SDK V 2.5 - see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb448854(v=office.15).aspx

This can read+write MS Office files (including Excel)...

Another option see http://www.codeproject.com/KB/office/OpenXML.aspx

Passing data through intent using Serializable

I use the following method when sending a List<MySerializableObject> via intent:

List<Thumbnail> thumbList = new ArrayList<>();
//Populate ...

Intent intent = new Intent(context, OtherClass.class);
intent.putExtra("ThumbArray", thumbList.toArray(new Thumbnail[0]));
//Send intent...

And retrieving it like so:

Thumbnail[] thumbArr = (Thumbnail[]) getIntent().getSerializableExtra("ThumbArray");
if (thumbArr != null) {
    List<Thumbnail> thumbList = Arrays.asList(thumbArr);
}

How do I force "git pull" to overwrite local files?

I had the same problem and for some reason, even a git clean -f -d would not do it. Here is why: For some reason, if your file is ignored by Git (via a .gitignore entry, I assume), it still bothers about overwriting this with a later pull, but a clean will not remove it, unless you add -x.

The system cannot find the file specified in java

When you run a jar, your Main class itself becomes args[0] and your filename comes immediately after.

I had the same issue: I could locate my file when provided the absolute path from eclipse (because I was referring to the file as args[0]). Yet when I run the same from jar, it was trying to locate my main class - which is when I got the idea that I should be reading my file from args[1].

Passing command line arguments from Maven as properties in pom.xml

You can give variable names as project files. For instance in you plugin configuration give only one tag as below:-

<projectFile>${projectName}</projectFile>

Then on command line you can pass the project name as parameter:-

mvn [your-command] -DprojectName=[name of project]

Looking for a 'cmake clean' command to clear up CMake output

CMake 3.X

CMake 3.X offers a 'clean' target.

cmake --build C:/foo/build/ --target clean

From the CMake docs for 3.0.2:

--clean-first = Build target 'clean' first, then build.
                 (To clean only, use --target 'clean'.)

CMake 2.X

There is no cmake clean in CMake version 2.X

I usually build the project in a single folder like "build". So if I want to make clean, I can just rm -rf build.

The "build" folder in the same directory as the root "CMakeLists.txt" is usually a good choice. To build your project, you simply give cmake the location of the CMakeLists.txt as an argument. For example: cd <location-of-cmakelists>/build && cmake ... (From @ComicSansMS)

Is there a way to delete created variables, functions, etc from the memory of the interpreter?

If you are in an interactive environment like Jupyter or ipython you might be interested in clearing unwanted var's if they are getting heavy.

The magic-commands reset and reset_selective is vailable on interactive python sessions like ipython and Jupyter

1) reset

reset Resets the namespace by removing all names defined by the user, if called without arguments.

in and the out parameters specify whether you want to flush the in/out caches. The directory history is flushed with the dhist parameter.

reset in out

Another interesting one is array that only removes numpy Arrays:

reset array

2) reset_selective

Resets the namespace by removing names defined by the user. Input/Output history are left around in case you need them.

Clean Array Example:

In [1]: import numpy as np
In [2]: littleArray = np.array([1,2,3,4,5])
In [3]: who_ls
Out[3]: ['littleArray', 'np']
In [4]: reset_selective -f littleArray
In [5]: who_ls
Out[5]: ['np']

True
>>> bool(-5)

Zoom in on a point (using scale and translate)

I want to put here some information for those, who do separately drawing of picture and moving -zooming it.

This may be useful when you want to store zooms and position of viewport.

Here is drawer:

function redraw_ctx(){
   self.ctx.clearRect(0,0,canvas_width, canvas_height)
   self.ctx.save()
   self.ctx.scale(self.data.zoom, self.data.zoom) //
   self.ctx.translate(self.data.position.left, self.data.position.top) // position second
   // Here We draw useful scene My task - image:
   self.ctx.drawImage(self.img ,0,0) // position 0,0 - we already prepared
   self.ctx.restore(); // Restore!!!
}

Notice scale MUST be first.

And here is zoomer:

function zoom(zf, px, py){
    // zf - is a zoom factor, which in my case was one of (0.1, -0.1)
    // px, py coordinates - is point within canvas
    // eg. px = evt.clientX - canvas.offset().left
    // py = evt.clientY - canvas.offset().top
    var z = self.data.zoom;
    var x = self.data.position.left;
    var y = self.data.position.top;

    var nz = z + zf; // getting new zoom
    var K = (z*z + z*zf) // putting some magic

    var nx = x - ( (px*zf) / K );
    var ny = y - ( (py*zf) / K);

    self.data.position.left = nx; // renew positions
    self.data.position.top = ny;
    self.data.zoom = nz; // ... and zoom
    self.redraw_ctx(); // redraw context
    }

and, of course, we would need a dragger:

this.my_cont.mousemove(function(evt){
    if (is_drag){
        var cur_pos = {x: evt.clientX - off.left,
                       y: evt.clientY - off.top}
        var diff = {x: cur_pos.x - old_pos.x,
                    y: cur_pos.y - old_pos.y}

        self.data.position.left += (diff.x / self.data.zoom); // we want to move the point of cursor strictly
        self.data.position.top += (diff.y / self.data.zoom);

        old_pos = cur_pos;
        self.redraw_ctx();

    }

})

#define in Java

Manifold Preprocessor implemented as a javac compiler plugin is designed exclusively for conditional compilation of Java source code. It uses familiar C/C++ style of directives: #define, #undef, #if, #elif, #else, #endif, #error. and #warning.

It has Maven and Gradle plugins.

LaTeX table too wide. How to make it fit?

Use p{width} column specifier: e.g. \begin{tabular}{ l p{10cm} } will put column's content into 10cm-wide parbox, and the text will be properly broken to several lines, like in normal paragraph.

You can also use tabular* environment to specify width for the entire table.

Why use Gradle instead of Ant or Maven?

I agree partly with Ed Staub. Gradle definitely is more powerful compared to maven and provides more flexibility long term.

After performing an evaluation to move from maven to gradle, we decided to stick to maven itself for two issues we encountered with gradle ( speed is slower than maven, proxy was not working ) .

Guid.NewGuid() vs. new Guid()

Guid.NewGuid(), as it creates GUIDs as intended.

Guid.NewGuid() creates an empty Guid object, initializes it by calling CoCreateGuid and returns the object.

new Guid() merely creates an empty GUID (all zeros, I think).

I guess they had to make the constructor public as Guid is a struct.

How to crop an image using PIL?

An easier way to do this is using crop from ImageOps. You can feed the number of pixels you want to crop from each side.

from PIL import ImageOps

border = (0, 30, 0, 30) # left, up, right, bottom
ImageOps.crop(img, border)

'sprintf': double precision in C

The problem is with sprintf

sprintf(aa,"%lf",a);

%lf says to interpet "a" as a "long double" (16 bytes) but it is actually a "double" (8 bytes). Use this instead:

sprintf(aa, "%f", a);

UIWebView open links in Safari

In Swift you can use the following code:

extension YourViewController: UIWebViewDelegate {
    func webView(_ webView: UIWebView, shouldStartLoadWith request: URLRequest, navigationType: UIWebView.NavigationType) -> Bool {
        if let url = request.url, navigationType == UIWebView.NavigationType.linkClicked {
            UIApplication.shared.open(url, options: [:], completionHandler: nil)
            return false
        }
        return true
    }

}

Make sure you check for the URL value and the navigationType.

Javascript Date - set just the date, ignoring time?

How about .toDateString()?

Alternatively, use .getDate(), .getMonth(), and .getYear()?

In my mind, if you want to group things by date, you simply want to access the date, not set it. Through having some set way of accessing the date field, you can compare them and group them together, no?

Check out all the fun Date methods here: MDN Docs

Edit: If you want to keep it as a date object, just do this:

var newDate = new Date(oldDate.toDateString());

Date's constructor is pretty smart about parsing Strings (though not without a ton of caveats, but this should work pretty consistently), so taking the old Date and printing it to just the date without any time will result in the same effect you had in the original post.

How to create an ArrayList from an Array in PowerShell?

I can't get that constructor to work either. This however seems to work:

# $temp = Get-ResourceFiles
$resourceFiles = New-Object System.Collections.ArrayList($null)
$resourceFiles.AddRange($temp)

You can also pass an integer in the constructor to set an initial capacity.

What do you mean when you say you want to enumerate the files? Why can't you just filter the wanted values into a fresh array?

Edit:

It seems that you can use the array constructor like this:

$resourceFiles = New-Object System.Collections.ArrayList(,$someArray)

Note the comma. I believe what is happening is that when you call a .NET method, you always pass parameters as an array. PowerShell unpacks that array and passes it to the method as separate parameters. In this case, we don't want PowerShell to unpack the array; we want to pass the array as a single unit. Now, the comma operator creates arrays. So PowerShell unpacks the array, then we create the array again with the comma operator. I think that is what is going on.

Adding HTML entities using CSS content

CSS is not HTML. &nbsp; is a named character reference in HTML; equivalent to the decimal numeric character reference &#160;. 160 is the decimal code point of the NO-BREAK SPACE character in Unicode (or UCS-2; see the HTML 4.01 Specification). The hexadecimal representation of that code point is U+00A0 (160 = 10 × 161 + 0 × 160). You will find that in the Unicode Code Charts and Character Database.

In CSS you need to use a Unicode escape sequence for such characters, which is based on the hexadecimal value of the code point of a character. So you need to write

.breadcrumbs a:before {
  content: '\a0';
}

This works as long as the escape sequence comes last in a string value. If characters follow, there are two ways to avoid misinterpretation:

a) (mentioned by others) Use exactly six hexadecimal digits for the escape sequence:

.breadcrumbs a:before {
  content: '\0000a0foo';
}

b) Add one white-space (e. g., space) character after the escape sequence:

.breadcrumbs a:before {
  content: '\a0 foo';
}

(Since f is a hexadecimal digit, \a0f would otherwise mean GURMUKHI LETTER EE here, or ? if you have a suitable font.)

The delimiting white-space will be ignored, and this will be displayed  foo, where the displayed space here would be a NO-BREAK SPACE character.

The white-space approach ('\a0 foo') has the following advantages over the six-digit approach ('\0000a0foo'):

  • it is easier to type, because leading zeroes are not necessary, and digits do not need to be counted;
  • it is easier to read, because there is white-space between escape sequence and following text, and digits do not need to be counted;
  • it requires less space, because leading zeroes are not necessary;
  • it is upwards-compatible, because Unicode supporting code points beyond U+10FFFF in the future would require a modification of the CSS Specification.

Thus, to display a space after an escaped character, use two spaces in the stylesheet –

.breadcrumbs a:before {
  content: '\a0  foo';
}

– or make it explicit:

.breadcrumbs a:before {
  content: '\a0\20 foo';
}

See CSS 2.1, section "4.1.3 Characters and case" for details.

php string to int

You can remove the spaces before casting to int:

(int)str_replace(' ', '', $b);

Also, if you want to strip other commonly used digit delimiters (such as ,), you can give the function an array (beware though -- in some countries, like mine for example, the comma is used for fraction notation):

(int)str_replace(array(' ', ','), '', $b);

Command to list all files in a folder as well as sub-folders in windows

An alternative to the above commands that is a little more bulletproof.

It can list all files irrespective of permissions or path length.

robocopy "C:\YourFolderPath" "C:\NULL" /E /L /NJH /NJS /FP /NS /NC /B /XJ

I have a slight issue with the use of C:\NULL which I have written about in my blog

https://theitronin.com/bulletproofdirectorylisting/

But nevertheless it's the most robust command I know.

jQuery's jquery-1.10.2.min.map is triggering a 404 (Not Found)

I was presented with the same issue. The cause for me was Grunt concatenating my JavaScript file.

I was using a ;\n as a separator which caused the path to the source map to 404.

So dev tools was looking for jquery.min.map; instead of jquery.min.map.

I know that isn't the answer to the original question, but I am sure there are others out there with a similar Grunt configuration.

Iterating through a list in reverse order in java

If the lists are fairly small so that performance is not a real issue, one can use the reverse-metod of the Lists-class in Google Guava. Yields pretty for-each-code, and the original list stays the same. Also, the reversed list is backed by the original list, so any change to the original list will be reflected in the reversed one.

import com.google.common.collect.Lists;

[...]

final List<String> myList = Lists.newArrayList("one", "two", "three");
final List<String> myReverseList = Lists.reverse(myList);

System.out.println(myList);
System.out.println(myReverseList);

myList.add("four");

System.out.println(myList);
System.out.println(myReverseList);

Yields the following result:

[one, two, three]
[three, two, one]
[one, two, three, four]
[four, three, two, one]

Which means that reverse iteration of myList can be written as:

for (final String someString : Lists.reverse(myList)) {
    //do something
}

sudo yum remove php-cli mod_php php-common

Install the new PHP 7 packages from IUS. Again, press y and Enter when prompted.

sudo yum install mod_php70u php70u-cli php70u-mysqlnd

Finally, restart Apache to load the new version of mod_php:

sudo apachectl restart

You can check on the status of Apache, which is managed by the httpd systemd unit, using systemctl:

systemctl status httpd

How to unload a package without restarting R

You can uncheck the checkbox button in RStudio (packages).

RStudio packages pane

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.WebPages.Razor, Version=2.0.0.0

So simple. In Nuget Package Manager Console:

Update-Package Microsoft.AspNet.Mvc -Reinstall

Display open transactions in MySQL

Although there won't be any remaining transaction in the case, as @Johan said, you can see the current transaction list in InnoDB with the query below if you want.

SELECT * FROM information_schema.innodb_trx\G

From the document:

The INNODB_TRX table contains information about every transaction (excluding read-only transactions) currently executing inside InnoDB, including whether the transaction is waiting for a lock, when the transaction started, and the SQL statement the transaction is executing, if any.

SQL Plus change current directory

I don't think you can!

/home/export/user1 $ sqlplus /
> @script1.sql
> HOST CD /home/export/user2
> @script2.sql

script2.sql has to be in /home/export/user1.

You either use the full path, or exit the script and start sqlplus again from the right directory.

#!/bin/bash
oraenv .
cd /home/export/user1
sqlplus / @script1.sql
cd /home/export/user2
sqlplus / @script2.sql

(something like that - doing this from memory!)

maven-dependency-plugin (goals "copy-dependencies", "unpack") is not supported by m2e

This is a problem of M2E for Eclipse M2E plugin execution not covered.

To solve this problem, all you got to do is to map the lifecycle it doesn't recognize and instruct M2E to execute it.

You should add this after your plugins, inside the build. This will remove the error and make M2E recognize the goal copy-depencies of maven-dependency-plugin and make the POM work as expected, copying dependencies to folder every time Eclipse build it. If you just want to ignore the error, then you change <execute /> for <ignore />. No need for enclosing your maven-dependency-plugin into pluginManagement, as suggested before.

<pluginManagement>
  <plugins>
    <plugin>

How to parse JSON in Kotlin?

This uses kotlinx.serialization like Elisha's answer. Meanwhile the API is being stabilized for the upcoming 1.0 release. Note that e.g. JSON.parse was renamed to Json.parse and is now Json.decodeFromString. Also it is imported in gradle differently starting in Kotlin 1.4.0:

dependencies {
    implementation "org.jetbrains.kotlinx:kotlinx-serialization-core:1.0.0-RC"
}
apply plugin: 'kotlinx-serialization'

Example usage:

@Serializable
data class Properties(val nid: Int, val tid: Int)
@Serializable
data class Feature(val pos: List<Double>, val properties: Properties? = null,
    val count: Int? = null)
@Serializable
data class Root(val features: List<Feature>)

val root = Json.decodeFromString<Root>(jsonStr)
val rootAlt = Json.decodeFromString(Root.serializer(), jsonStr)  // equivalent

val str = Json.encodeToString(root) // type 'Root' can be inferred!

// For a *top-level* list (does not apply in my case) you would use
val fList = Json.decodeFromString<List<Feature>>(jsonStr)
val fListAlt = Json.decodeFromString(ListSerializer(Feature.serializer()), jsonStr)

Kotlin's data class defines a class that mainly holds data and has .toString() and other methods (e.g. destructuring declarations) automatically defined. I'm using nullable (?) types here for optional fields.

Disable activity slide-in animation when launching new activity?

IMHO this answer here solve issue in the most elegant way..

Developer should create a style,

<style name="noAnimTheme" parent="android:Theme">
  <item name="android:windowAnimationStyle">@null</item>
</style>

then in manifest set it as theme for activity or whole application.

<activity android:name=".ui.ArticlesActivity" android:theme="@style/noAnimTheme">
</activity>

Voila! Nice and easy..

I've used py2exe in the past and have been very happy with it. I didn't particularly enjoy using cx-freeze as much, though

Creating a blurring overlay view

Here's a fast implementation in Swift using CIGaussianBlur:

func blur(image image: UIImage) -> UIImage {
    let radius: CGFloat = 20;
    let context = CIContext(options: nil);
    let inputImage = CIImage(CGImage: image.CGImage!);
    let filter = CIFilter(name: "CIGaussianBlur");
    filter?.setValue(inputImage, forKey: kCIInputImageKey);
    filter?.setValue("\(radius)", forKey:kCIInputRadiusKey);
    let result = filter?.valueForKey(kCIOutputImageKey) as! CIImage;
    let rect = CGRectMake(radius * 2, radius * 2, image.size.width - radius * 4, image.size.height - radius * 4)
    let cgImage = context.createCGImage(result, fromRect: rect);
    let returnImage = UIImage(CGImage: cgImage);

    return returnImage;
}

Python URLLib / URLLib2 POST

u = urllib2.urlopen('http://myserver/inout-tracker', data)
h.request('POST', '/inout-tracker/index.php', data, headers)

Using the path /inout-tracker without a trailing / doesn't fetch index.php. Instead the server will issue a 302 redirect to the version with the trailing /.

Doing a 302 will typically cause clients to convert a POST to a GET request.

difference between $query>num_rows() and $this->db->count_all_results() in CodeIgniter & which one is recommended

We can also use

return $this->db->count_all('table_name');

or

$this->db->from('table_name');
return $this->db->count_all_result();

or

return $this->db->count_all_result('table_name');

or

$query = $this->db->query('select * from tab');
return $query->num_rows();

When to use React "componentDidUpdate" method?

Sometimes you might add a state value from props in constructor or componentDidMount, you might need to call setState when the props changed but the component has already mounted so componentDidMount will not execute and neither will constructor; in this particular case, you can use componentDidUpdate since the props have changed, you can call setState in componentDidUpdate with new props.

How to create an alert message in jsp page after submit process is complete

You can also create a new jsp file sayng that form is submited and in your main action file just write its file name

Eg. Your form is submited is in a file succes.jsp Then your action file will have

Request.sendRedirect("success.jsp")

Why would someone use WHERE 1=1 AND <conditions> in a SQL clause?

Here's a closely related example: using a SQL MERGE statement to update the target tabled using all values from the source table where there is no common attribute on which to join on e.g.

MERGE INTO Circles
   USING
      (
        SELECT pi
         FROM Constants
      ) AS SourceTable
   ON 1 = 1
WHEN MATCHED THEN
  UPDATE
     SET circumference = 2 * SourceTable.pi * radius;

ASP.NET MVC Yes/No Radio Buttons with Strongly Bound Model MVC

I ended up packaging this into an extension method so (1) I could generate the label and radio at once and (2) so I didn't have to fuss with specifying my own IDs:

public static class HtmlHelperExtensions
{
    public static MvcHtmlString RadioButtonAndLabelFor<TModel, TProperty>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> self, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, bool value, string labelText)
    {
        // Retrieve the qualified model identifier
        string name = ExpressionHelper.GetExpressionText(expression);
        string fullName = self.ViewContext.ViewData.TemplateInfo.GetFullHtmlFieldName(name);

        // Generate the base ID
        TagBuilder tagBuilder = new TagBuilder("input");
        tagBuilder.GenerateId(fullName);
        string idAttr = tagBuilder.Attributes["id"];

        // Create an ID specific to the boolean direction
        idAttr = String.Format("{0}_{1}", idAttr, value);

        // Create the individual HTML elements, using the generated ID
        MvcHtmlString radioButton = self.RadioButtonFor(expression, value, new { id = idAttr });
        MvcHtmlString label = self.Label(idAttr, labelText);

        return new MvcHtmlString(radioButton.ToHtmlString() + label.ToHtmlString());
    }
}

Usage:

@Html.RadioButtonAndLabelFor(m => m.IsMarried, true, "Yes, I am married")

Java equivalent to Explode and Implode(PHP)

I'm not familiar with PHP, but I think String.split is Java equivalent to PHP explode. As for implode, standart library does not provide such functionality. You just iterate over your array and build string using StringBuilder/StringBuffer. Or you can try excellent Google Guava Splitter and Joiner or split/join methods from Apache Commons StringUtils.

Properties file in python (similar to Java Properties)

i have used this, this library is very useful

print(p)
print(p.items())
print(p['name3'])
p['name3'] = 'changed = value'

How to call a PHP function on the click of a button

To show $message in your input:

<?php
    if(isset($_POST['insert'])){
        $message= "The insert function is called.";
    }
    if(isset($_POST['select'])){
        $message="The select function is called.";
    }
?>

<form  method="post">
    <input type="text" name="txt" value="<?php if(isset($message)){ echo $message;}?>" >
    <input type="submit" name="insert" value="insert">
    <input type="submit" name="select" value="select" >

To use functioncalling.php as an external file you have to include it somehow in your HTML document.

Check which element has been clicked with jQuery

Answer from vpiTriumph lays out the details nicely.
Here's a small handy variation for when there are unique element ids for the data set you want to access:

$('.news-article').click(function(event){
    var id = event.target.id;
    console.log('id = ' + id);
});

What is Hive: Return Code 2 from org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.MapRedTask

The top answer is right, that the error code doesn't give you much info. One of the common causes that we saw in our team for this error code was when the query was not optimized well. A known reason was when we do an inner join with the left side table magnitudes bigger than the table on right side. Swapping these tables would usually do the trick in such cases.

How to change the color of a button?

You can change the colour two ways; through XML or through coding. I would recommend XML since it's easier to follow for beginners.

XML:

<Button
    android:background="@android:color/white"
    android:textColor="@android:color/black"
/>

You can also use hex values ex.

android:background="@android:color/white"

Coding:

//btn represents your button object

btn.setBackgroundColor(Color.WHITE);
btn.setTextColor(Color.BLACK);

How to display (print) vector in Matlab?

Here's another approach that takes advantage of Matlab's strjoin function. With strjoin it's easy to customize the delimiter between values.

x = [1, 2, 3];
fprintf('Answer: (%s)\n', strjoin(cellstr(num2str(x(:))),', '));

This results in: Answer: (1, 2, 3)

MySQL JOIN ON vs USING?

For those experimenting with this in phpMyAdmin, just a word:

phpMyAdmin appears to have a few problems with USING. For the record this is phpMyAdmin run on Linux Mint, version: "4.5.4.1deb2ubuntu2", Database server: "10.2.14-MariaDB-10.2.14+maria~xenial - mariadb.org binary distribution".

I have run SELECT commands using JOIN and USING in both phpMyAdmin and in Terminal (command line), and the ones in phpMyAdmin produce some baffling responses:

1) a LIMIT clause at the end appears to be ignored.
2) the supposed number of rows as reported at the top of the page with the results is sometimes wrong: for example 4 are returned, but at the top it says "Showing rows 0 - 24 (2503 total, Query took 0.0018 seconds.)"

Logging on to mysql normally and running the same queries does not produce these errors. Nor do these errors occur when running the same query in phpMyAdmin using JOIN ... ON .... Presumably a phpMyAdmin bug.

How to fix corrupt HDFS FIles

If you just want to get your HDFS back to normal state and don't worry much about the data, then

This will list the corrupt HDFS blocks:

hdfs fsck -list-corruptfileblocks

This will delete the corrupted HDFS blocks:

hdfs fsck / -delete

Note that, you might have to use sudo -u hdfs if you are not the sudo user (assuming "hdfs" is name of the sudo user)

How to both read and write a file in C#

you can try this:"Filename.txt" file will be created automatically in the bin->debug folder everytime you run this code or you can specify path of the file like: @"C:/...". you can check ëxistance of "Hello" by going to the bin -->debug folder

P.S dont forget to add Console.Readline() after this code snippet else console will not appear.

TextWriter tw = new StreamWriter("filename.txt");
        String text = "Hello";
        tw.WriteLine(text);

Combine multiple JavaScript files into one JS file

You can do this via

  • a. Manually: copy of all the Javascript files into one, run a compressor on it (optional but recommended) and upload to the server and link to that file.
  • b. Use PHP: Just create an array of all JS files and include them all and output into a <script> tag

How to create a showdown.js markdown extension

In your last block you have a comma after 'lang', followed immediately with a function. This is not valid json.

Count items in a folder with PowerShell

To count the number of a specific filetype in a folder. The example is to count mp3 files on F: drive.

( Get-ChildItme F: -Filter *.mp3 - Recurse | measure ).Count

Tested in 6.2.3, but should work >4.

Modifying location.hash without page scrolling

Adding this here because the more relevant questions have all been marked as duplicates pointing here…

My situation is simpler:

  • user clicks the link (a[href='#something'])
  • click handler does: e.preventDefault()
  • smoothscroll function: $("html,body").stop(true,true).animate({ "scrollTop": linkoffset.top }, scrollspeed, "swing" );
  • then window.location = link;

This way, the scroll occurs, and there's no jump when the location is updated.

JS. How to replace html element with another element/text, represented in string?

Because you are talking about your replacement being anything, and also replacing in the middle of an element's children, it becomes more tricky than just inserting a singular element, or directly removing and appending:

function replaceTargetWith( targetID, html ){
  /// find our target
  var i, tmp, elm, last, target = document.getElementById(targetID);
  /// create a temporary div or tr (to support tds)
  tmp = document.createElement(html.indexOf('<td')!=-1?'tr':'div'));
  /// fill that div with our html, this generates our children
  tmp.innerHTML = html;
  /// step through the temporary div's children and insertBefore our target
  i = tmp.childNodes.length;
  /// the insertBefore method was more complicated than I first thought so I
  /// have improved it. Have to be careful when dealing with child lists as
  /// they are counted as live lists and so will update as and when you make
  /// changes. This is why it is best to work backwards when moving children
  /// around, and why I'm assigning the elements I'm working with to `elm`
  /// and `last`
  last = target;
  while(i--){
    target.parentNode.insertBefore((elm = tmp.childNodes[i]), last);
    last = elm;
  }
  /// remove the target.
  target.parentNode.removeChild(target);
}

example usage:

replaceTargetWith( 'idTABLE', 'I <b>can</b> be <div>anything</div>' );

demo:

By using the .innerHTML of our temporary div this will generate the TextNodes and Elements we need to insert without any hard work. But rather than insert the temporary div itself -- this would give us mark up that we don't want -- we can just scan and insert it's children.

...either that or look to using jQuery and it's replaceWith method.

jQuery('#idTABLE').replaceWith('<blink>Why this tag??</blink>');

update 2012/11/15

As a response to EL 2002's comment above:

It not always possible. For example, when createElement('div') and set its innerHTML as <td>123</td>, this div becomes <div>123</div> (js throws away inappropriate td tag)

The above problem obviously negates my solution as well - I have updated my code above accordingly (at least for the td issue). However for certain HTML this will occur no matter what you do. All user agents interpret HTML via their own parsing rules, but nearly all of them will attempt to auto-correct bad HTML. The only way to achieve exactly what you are talking about (in some of your examples) is to take the HTML out of the DOM entirely, and manipulate it as a string. This will be the only way to achieve a markup string with the following (jQuery will not get around this issue either):

<table><tr>123 text<td>END</td></tr></table>

If you then take this string an inject it into the DOM, depending on the browser you will get the following:

123 text<table><tr><td>END</td></tr></table>

<table><tr><td>END</td></tr></table>

The only question that remains is why you would want to achieve broken HTML in the first place? :)

'this' vs $scope in AngularJS controllers

$scope has a different 'this' then the controller 'this'.Thus if you put a console.log(this) inside controller it gives you a object(controller) and this.addPane() adds addPane Method to the controller Object. But the $scope has different scope and all method in its scope need to be accesed by $scope.methodName(). this.methodName() inside controller means to add methos inside controller object.$scope.functionName() is in HTML and inside

$scope.functionName(){
    this.name="Name";
    //or
    $scope.myname="myname"//are same}

Paste this code in your editor and open console to see...

subtract time from date - moment js

There is a simple function subtract which moment library gives us to subtract time from some time. Using it is also very simple.

moment(Date.now()).subtract(7, 'days'); // This will subtract 7 days from current time
moment(Date.now()).subtract(3, 'd'); // This will subtract 3 days from current time

//You can do this for days, years, months, hours, minutes, seconds
//You can also subtract multiple things simulatneously

//You can chain it like this.
moment(Date.now()).subtract(3, 'd').subtract(5. 'h'); // This will subtract 3 days and 5 hours from current time

//You can also use it as object literal
moment(Date.now()).subtract({days:3, hours:5}); // This will subtract 3 days and 5 hours from current time

Hope this helps!

The best way to calculate the height in a binary search tree? (balancing an AVL-tree)

Here's where it gets confusing, the text states "If the balance factor of R is 1, it means the insertion occurred on the (external) right side of that node and a left rotation is needed". But from m understanding the text said (as I quoted) that if the balance factor was within [-1, 1] then there was no need for balancing?

Okay, epiphany time.

Consider what a rotation does. Let's think about a left rotation.

 P = parent
 O = ourself (the element we're rotating)
 RC = right child
 LC = left child (of the right child, not of ourself)

 P              10
  \               \
   O               15
    \                \
     RC               20
    /                /
   LC               18

          ?
 P              10
   \               \
     RC              20
   /               /
  O              15
   \               \
   LC              18

 basically, what happens is;

 1. our right child moves into our position
 2. we become the left child of our right child
 3. our right child's left child becomes our right

Now, the big thing you have to notice here - this left rotation HAS NOT CHANGED THE DEPTH OF THE TREE. We're no more balanced for having done it.

But - and here's the magic in AVL - if we rotated the right child to the right FIRST, what we'd have is this...

 P
  \
   O
    \
     LC
      \
       RC

And NOW if we rotate O left, what we get is this...

 P
   \
     LC
    /  \
   O   RC

Magic! we've managed to get rid of a level of the tree - we've made the tree balanced.

Balancing the tree means getting rid of excess depth, and packing the upper levels more completely - which is exactly what we've just done.

That whole stuff about single/double rotations is simply that you have to have your subtree looking like this;

 P
  \
   O
    \
     LC
      \
       RC

before you rotate - and you may have to do a right rotate to get into that state. But if you're already in that state, you only need to do the left rotate.

matplotlib get ylim values

It's an old question, but I don't see mentioned that, depending on the details, the sharey option may be able to do all of this for you, instead of digging up axis limits, margins, etc. There's a demo in the docs that shows how to use sharex, but the same can be done with y-axes.

Removing viewcontrollers from navigation stack

If you are trying to move to 2nd view controller from 5th view controller (skipping 3rd and 4th), you would like to use [self.navigationController popToviewController:secondViewController].

You can obtain the secondViewController from the navigation controller stack.

secondViewController =  [self.navigationController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:yourViewControllerIndex];

JavaScript backslash (\) in variables is causing an error

The backslash (\) is an escape character in Javascript (along with a lot of other C-like languages). This means that when Javascript encounters a backslash, it tries to escape the following character. For instance, \n is a newline character (rather than a backslash followed by the letter n).

In order to output a literal backslash, you need to escape it. That means \\ will output a single backslash (and \\\\ will output two, and so on). The reason "aa ///\" doesn't work is because the backslash escapes the " (which will print a literal quote), and thus your string is not properly terminated. Similarly, "aa ///\\\" won't work, because the last backslash again escapes the quote.

Just remember, for each backslash you want to output, you need to give Javascript two.

Passing an array to a query using a WHERE clause

Safer.

$galleries = array(1,2,5);
array_walk($galleries , 'intval');
$ids = implode(',', $galleries);
$sql = "SELECT * FROM galleries WHERE id IN ($ids)";

NameError: global name 'unicode' is not defined - in Python 3

Python 3 renamed the unicode type to str, the old str type has been replaced by bytes.

if isinstance(unicode_or_str, str):
    text = unicode_or_str
    decoded = False
else:
    text = unicode_or_str.decode(encoding)
    decoded = True

You may want to read the Python 3 porting HOWTO for more such details. There is also Lennart Regebro's Porting to Python 3: An in-depth guide, free online.

Last but not least, you could just try to use the 2to3 tool to see how that translates the code for you.

E: Unable to locate package npm

For Debian Stretch (Debian version 9), nodejs does not include npm, and to install it as a separate package, you have to enable stretch-backports.

echo 'deb http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-backports main' |
sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/stretch-backports.list
apt-get update -y
apt-get -t stretch-backports install -y npm

In Buster (Debian 10), npm is a regular package, so going forward, this should just work. But some of us will still be stuck partially on Stretch boxes for some time to come.

How to detect window.print() finish

Given that you wish to wait for the print dialog to go away I would use focus binding on the window.

print();

var handler = function(){
    //unbind task();
    $(window).unbind("focus",handler);
}

$(window).bind("focus",handler);

By putting in the unbind in the handler function we prevent the focus event staying bond to the window.

How do I view the Explain Plan in Oracle Sql developer?

Explain only shows how the optimizer thinks the query will execute.

To show the real plan, you will need to run the sql once. Then use the same session run the following:

@yoursql
select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor())

This way can show the real plan used during execution. There are several other ways in showing plan using dbms_xplan. You can Google with term "dbms_xplan".

Does it make sense to use Require.js with Angular.js?

Using RequireJS with AngularJS makes sense but only if you understand how each of them works regarding dependency injection, as although both of them injects dependencies, they inject very different things.

AngularJS has its own dependency system that let you inject AngularJS modules to a newly created module in order to reuse implementations. Let's say you created a "first" module that implements an AngularJS filter "greet":

angular
  .module('first', [])
  .filter('greet', function() {
    return function(name) {
      return 'Hello, ' + name + '!';
    }
  });

And now let's say you want to use the "greet" filter in another module called "second" that implements a "goodbye" filter. You may do that injecting the "first" module to the "second" module:

angular
  .module('second', ['first'])
  .filter('goodbye', function() {
    return function(name) {
      return 'Good bye, ' + name + '!';
    }
  });

The thing is that in order to make this work correctly without RequireJS, you have to make sure that the "first" AngularJS module is loaded on the page before you create the "second" AngularJS module. Quoting documentation:

Depending on a module implies that required module needs to be loaded before the requiring module is loaded.

In that sense, here is where RequireJS can help you as RequireJS provides a clean way to inject scripts to the page helping you organize script dependencies between each other.

Going back to the "first" and "second" AngularJS modules, here is how you can do it using RequireJS separating the modules on different files to leverage script dependencies loading:

// firstModule.js file
define(['angular'], function(angular) {
  angular
    .module('first', [])
    .filter('greet', function() {
      return function(name) {
        return 'Hello, ' + name + '!';
      }
    });
});
// secondModule.js file
define(['angular', 'firstModule'], function(angular) {
  angular
    .module('second', ['first'])
    .filter('goodbye', function() {
      return function(name) {
        return 'Good bye, ' + name + '!';
      }
    });
});

You can see that we are depending on "firstModule" file to be injected before the content of the RequireJS callback can be executed which needs "first" AngularJS module to be loaded to create "second" AngularJS module.

Side note: Injecting "angular" on the "firstModule" and "secondModule" files as dependency is required in order to use AngularJS inside the RequireJS callback function and it have to be configured on RequireJS config to map "angular" to the library code. You may have AngularJS loaded to the page in a traditional manner too (script tag) although defeats RequireJS benefits.

SQL Server Service not available in service list after installation of SQL Server Management Studio

downloaded Sql server management 2008 r2 and got it installed. Its getting installed but when I try to connect it via .\SQLEXPRESS it shows error. DO I need to install any SQL service on my system?

You installed management studio which is just a management interface to SQL Server. If you didn't (which is what it seems like) already have SQL Server installed, you'll need to install it in order to have it on your system and use it.

How to Solve the XAMPP 1.7.7 - PHPMyAdmin - MySQL Error #2002 in Ubuntu

The problem might be with service mysql-server and apache2 running while system start. You can do the following.

sudo /opt/lampp/lampp stop

To stop already running default services

sudo service apache2 stop
sudo service mysql  stop

To remove the services completely, so that they won't create problem in next system-restart, If you are in ubuntu(debian)

sudo apt-get remove apache2
sudo apt-get remove mysql-server

If you are in redhat or other, You could use yum or similar command to uninstall the services

Then start the lampp again

sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start

Also, don't install mysql-server in the system, because it might start in system start-up, occupy the port, and create problem for mysql of lampp.

My approach was similar to @SoftwareFactor, but different, perhaps because I'm running a different OS, Windows Server 2012. These steps worked for me.

Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services, right-click SQL Server Browser > Properties > General tab, change Startup type to Automatic, click Apply button, then click Start button in Service Status area.

Keystore type: which one to use?

Here is a post which introduces different types of keystore in Java and the differences among different types of keystore. http://www.pixelstech.net/article/1408345768-Different-types-of-keystore-in-Java----Overview

Below are the descriptions of different keystores from the post:

JKS, Java Key Store. You can find this file at sun.security.provider.JavaKeyStore. This keystore is Java specific, it usually has an extension of jks. This type of keystore can contain private keys and certificates, but it cannot be used to store secret keys. Since it's a Java specific keystore, so it cannot be used in other programming languages.

JCEKS, JCE key store. You can find this file at com.sun.crypto.provider.JceKeyStore. This keystore has an extension of jceks. The entries which can be put in the JCEKS keystore are private keys, secret keys and certificates.

PKCS12, this is a standard keystore type which can be used in Java and other languages. You can find this keystore implementation at sun.security.pkcs12.PKCS12KeyStore. It usually has an extension of p12 or pfx. You can store private keys, secret keys and certificates on this type.

PKCS11, this is a hardware keystore type. It servers an interface for the Java library to connect with hardware keystore devices such as Luna, nCipher. You can find this implementation at sun.security.pkcs11.P11KeyStore. When you load the keystore, you no need to create a specific provider with specific configuration. This keystore can store private keys, secret keys and cetrificates. When loading the keystore, the entries will be retrieved from the keystore and then converted into software entries.

Correct way to detach from a container without stopping it

Update: As mentioned in below answers Ctrl+p, Ctrl+q will now turn interactive mode into daemon mode.

Well Ctrl+C (or Ctrl+\) should detach you from the container but it will kill the container because your main process is a bash.

A little lesson about docker. The container is not a real full functional OS. When you run a container the process you launch take the PID 1 and assume init power. So when that process is terminated the daemon stop the container until a new process is launched (via docker start) (More explanation on the matter http://phusion.github.io/baseimage-docker/#intro)

If you want a container that run in detached mode all the time, i suggest you use

docker run -d foo

With an ssh server on the container. (easiest way is to follow the dockerizing openssh tutorial https://docs.docker.com/engine/examples/running_ssh_service/)

Or you can just relaunch your container via

docker start foo

(it will be detached by default)

break/exit script

Here:

if(n < 500)
{
    # quit()
    # or
    # stop("this is some message")
}
else
{
    *insert rest of program here*
}

Both quit() and stop(message) will quit your script. If you are sourcing your script from the R command prompt, then quit() will exit from R as well.

TypeError: object of type 'int' has no len() error assistance needed

Abstract:

The reason why you are getting this error message is because you are trying to call a method on an int type of a variable. This would work if would have called len() function on a list type of a variable. Let's examin the two cases:

Fail:

num = 10

print(len(num))

The above will produce an error similar to yours due to calling len() function on an int type of a variable;

Success:

data = [0, 4, 8, 9, 12]

print(len(data))

The above will work since you are calling a function on a list type of a variable;

Reading in double values with scanf in c

Use the %lf format specifier to read a double:

double a;
scanf("%lf",&a);

Wikipedia has a decent reference for available format specifiers.

You'll need to use the %lf format specifier to print out the results as well:

printf("%lf %lf",a,b);

Implement paging (skip / take) functionality with this query

In order to do this in SQL Server, you must order the query by a column, so you can specify the rows you want.

Example:

select * from table order by [some_column]
offset 10 rows
FETCH NEXT 10 rows only

And you can't use the "TOP" keyword when doing this.

You can learn more here: https://technet.microsoft.com/pt-br/library/gg699618%28v=sql.110%29.aspx

Anaconda vs. miniconda

Anaconda or Miniconda?

Choose Anaconda if you:

  1. Are new to conda or Python.

  2. Like the convenience of having Python and over 1,500 scientific packages automatically installed at once.

  3. Have the time and disk space---a few minutes and 3 GB.

  4. Do not want to individually install each of the packages you want to use.

Choose Miniconda if you:

  1. Do not mind installing each of the packages you want to use individually.

  2. Do not have time or disk space to install over 1,500 packages at once.

  3. Want fast access to Python and the conda commands and you wish to sort out the other programs later.

Is it possible in Java to check if objects fields are null and then add default value to all those attributes?

You need to manually filter input to constructors and setters. Well... you could use reflection but I wouldn't advise it. Part of the job of constructors and setters is to validate input. That can include things like:

public void setPrice(double price) {
  if (price < 0.0d) {
    throw new IllegalArgumentException("price cannot be negative " + price);
  }
  this.price = price;
}

and

public void setName(String name) {
  if (name == null) {
    throw new NullPointerException("name cannot be null");
  }
  this.name = name;
}

You could use wrapper functions for the actual check and throwing the exception.

PostgreSQL: Resetting password of PostgreSQL on Ubuntu

Assuming you're the administrator of the machine, Ubuntu has granted you the right to sudo to run any command as any user.
Also assuming you did not restrict the rights in the pg_hba.conf file (in the /etc/postgresql/9.1/main directory), it should contain this line as the first rule:

# Database administrative login by Unix domain socket
local   all             postgres                                peer

(About the file location: 9.1 is the major postgres version and main the name of your "cluster". It will differ if using a newer version of postgres or non-default names. Use the pg_lsclusters command to obtain this information for your version/system).

Anyway, if the pg_hba.conf file does not have that line, edit the file, add it, and reload the service with sudo service postgresql reload.

Then you should be able to log in with psql as the postgres superuser with this shell command:

sudo -u postgres psql

Once inside psql, issue the SQL command:

ALTER USER postgres PASSWORD 'newpassword';

In this command, postgres is the name of a superuser. If the user whose password is forgotten was ritesh, the command would be:

ALTER USER ritesh PASSWORD 'newpassword';

References: PostgreSQL 9.1.13 Documentation, Chapter 19. Client Authentication

Keep in mind that you need to type postgres with a single S at the end

If leaving the password in clear text in the history of commands or the server log is a problem, psql provides an interactive meta-command to avoid that, as an alternative to ALTER USER ... PASSWORD:

\password username

It asks for the password with a double blind input, then hashes it according to the password_encryption setting and issue the ALTER USER command to the server with the hashed version of the password, instead of the clear text version.

How do I make a redirect in PHP?

Use the header() function to send an HTTP Location header:

header('Location: '.$newURL);

Contrary to what some think, die() has nothing to do with redirection. Use it only if you want to redirect instead of normal execution.

File example.php:

<?php
    header('Location: static.html');
    $fh = fopen('/tmp/track.txt', 'a');
    fwrite($fh, $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] . ' ' . date('c') . "\n");
    fclose($fh);
?>

Result of three executions:

bart@hal9k:~> cat /tmp/track.txt

Resuming — obligatory die()/exit() is some urban legend that has nothing to do with actual PHP. It has nothing to do with client "respecting" the Location: header. Sending a header does not stop PHP execution, regardless of the client used.

Select from where field not equal to Mysql Php

The key is the sql query, which you will set up as a string:

$sqlquery = "SELECT field1, field2 FROM table WHERE NOT columnA = 'x' AND NOT columbB = 'y'";

Note that there are a lot of ways to specify NOT. Another one that works just as well is:

$sqlquery = "SELECT field1, field2 FROM table WHERE columnA != 'x' AND columbB != 'y'";

Here is a full example of how to use it:

$link = mysql_connect($dbHost,$dbUser,$dbPass) or die("Unable to connect to database");
mysql_select_db("$dbName") or die("Unable to select database $dbName");
$sqlquery = "SELECT field1, field2 FROM table WHERE NOT columnA = 'x' AND NOT columbB = 'y'";
$result=mysql_query($sqlquery);

while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result) {
//do stuff
}

You can do whatever you would like within the above while loop. Access each field of the table as an element of the $row array which means that $row['field1'] will give you the value for field1 on the current row, and $row['field2'] will give you the value for field2.

Note that if the column(s) could have NULL values, those will not be found using either of the above syntaxes. You will need to add clauses to include NULL values:

$sqlquery = "SELECT field1, field2 FROM table WHERE (NOT columnA = 'x' OR columnA IS NULL) AND (NOT columbB = 'y' OR columnB IS NULL)";

How to find the remainder of a division in C?

You can use the % operator to find the remainder of a division, and compare the result with 0.

Example:

if (number % divisor == 0)
{
    //code for perfect divisor
}
else
{
    //the number doesn't divide perfectly by divisor
}

jQuery AJAX cross domain

I know 3 way to resolve your problem:

  1. First if you have access to both domains you can allow access for all other domain using :

    header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *");

    or just a domain by adding code bellow to .htaccess file:

    <FilesMatch "\.(ttf|otf|eot|woff)$"> <IfModule mod_headers.c> SetEnvIf Origin "http(s)?://(www\.)?(google.com|staging.google.com|development.google.com|otherdomain.net|dev02.otherdomain.net)$" AccessControlAllowOrigin=$0 Header add Access-Control-Allow-Origin %{AccessControlAllowOrigin}e env=AccessControlAllowOrigin </IfModule> </FilesMatch>

  2. you can have ajax request to a php file in your server and handle request to another domain using this php file.

  3. you can use jsonp , because it doesn't need permission. for this you can read our friend @BGerrissen answer.
