Another point of interest is the break statement. Each break statement terminates the enclosing switch statement. Control flow continues with the first statement following the switch block. The break statements are necessary because without them, statements in switch blocks fall through: All statements after the matching case label are executed in sequence, regardless of the expression of subsequent case labels, until a break statement is encountered.

What you really want to do is to remove any string that starts with either http:// or https:// plus any combination of non white space characters. Here is how I would solve it. My solution is very similar to that of @tolgayilmaz

Add rows to CSV File in powershell

To simply append to a file in powershell,you can use add-content.

So, to only add a new line to the file, try the following, where $YourNewDate and $YourDescription contain the desired values.

"{0},{1}" -f $YourNewDate,$YourDescription | add-content -path $file

This will just tag the new line to the end of the .csv, and will not work for creating new .csv files where you will need to add the header.

I just ran into this and fixed it by doing 2 things:

  1. Granting read/write servicePrincipalName permissions to the service account using ADSI Edit, as described in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/811889
  2. Removing the SPNs that previously existed on the SQL Server computer account (as opposed to the service account) using

    setspn -D MSSQLSvc/HOSTNAME.domain.name.com:1234 HOSTNAME
    

    where 1234 was the port number used by the instance (mine was not a default instance).

Check number of arguments passed to a Bash script

Just like any other simple command, [ ... ] or test requires spaces between its arguments.

Suggestions

When in Bash, prefer using [[ ]] instead as it doesn't do word splitting and pathname expansion to its variables that quoting may not be necessary unless it's part of an expression.

[[ $# -ne 1 ]]

It also has some other features like unquoted condition grouping, pattern matching (extended pattern matching with extglob) and regex matching.

The following example checks if arguments are valid. It allows a single argument or two.

[[ ($# -eq 1 || ($# -eq 2 && $2 == <glob pattern>)) && $1 =~ <regex pattern> ]]

For pure arithmetic expressions, using (( )) to some may still be better, but they are still possible in [[ ]] with its arithmetic operators like -eq, -ne, -lt, -le, -gt, or -ge by placing the expression as a single string argument:

A=1
[[ 'A + 1' -eq 2 ]] && echo true  ## Prints true.

That should be helpful if you would need to combine it with other features of [[ ]] as well.

Take note that [[ ]] and (( )) are keywords which have same level of parsing as if, case, while, and for.

Also as Dave suggested, error messages are better sent to stderr so they don't get included when stdout is redirected:

echo "Illegal number of parameters" >&2

Exiting the script

It's also logical to make the script exit when invalid parameters are passed to it. This has already been suggested in the comments by ekangas but someone edited this answer to have it with -1 as the returned value, so I might as well do it right.

-1 though accepted by Bash as an argument to exit is not explicitly documented and is not right to be used as a common suggestion. 64 is also the most formal value since it's defined in sysexits.h with #define EX_USAGE 64 /* command line usage error */. Most tools like ls also return 2 on invalid arguments. I also used to return 2 in my scripts but lately I no longer really cared, and simply used 1 in all errors. But let's just place 2 here since it's most common and probably not OS-specific.

Mock a constructor with parameter

To my knowledge, you can't mock constructors with mockito, only methods. But according to the wiki on the Mockito google code page there is a way to mock the constructor behavior by creating a method in your class which return a new instance of that class. then you can mock out that method. Below is an excerpt directly from the Mockito wiki:

Pattern 1 - using one-line methods for object creation

To use pattern 1 (testing a class called MyClass), you would replace a call like

   Foo foo = new Foo( a, b, c );

with

   Foo foo = makeFoo( a, b, c );

and write a one-line method

   Foo makeFoo( A a, B b, C c ) { 
        return new Foo( a, b, c );
   }

It's important that you don't include any logic in the method; just the one line that creates the object. The reason for this is that the method itself is never going to be unit tested.

When you come to test the class, the object that you test will actually be a Mockito spy, with this method overridden, to return a mock. What you're testing is therefore not the class itself, but a very slightly modified version of it.

Your test class might contain members like

  @Mock private Foo mockFoo;
  private MyClass toTest = spy(new MyClass());

Lastly, inside your test method you mock out the call to makeFoo with a line like

  doReturn( mockFoo )
      .when( toTest )
      .makeFoo( any( A.class ), any( B.class ), any( C.class ));

You can use matchers that are more specific than any() if you want to check the arguments that are passed to the constructor.

You can use inotifywait (with the modify,create,delete,move flags enabled) and rsync.

git: updates were rejected because the remote contains work that you do not have locally

I fixed it, I'm not exactly sure what I did. I tried simply pushing and pulling using:

git pull <remote> dev instead of git pull <remote> master:dev

Seems that fromFile() uses A file pointer, which I suppose could be insecure when memory addresses are exposed to all apps. But A file path String never hurt anybody, so it works without throwing FileUriExposedException.

Tested on API levels 9 to 29! Successfully opens the text file for editing in another app. Does not require FileProvider, nor the Android Support Library at all.

One way to speed things up is to explicitly perform multiple inserts or copy's within a transaction (say 1000). Postgres's default behavior is to commit after each statement, so by batching the commits, you can avoid some overhead. As the guide in Daniel's answer says, you may have to disable autocommit for this to work. Also note the comment at the bottom that suggests increasing the size of the wal_buffers to 16 MB may also help.

How do I pass a datetime value as a URI parameter in asp.net mvc?

The colon in your first example's url is going to cause an error (Bad Request) so you can't do exactly what you are looking for. Other than that, using a DateTime as an action parameter is most definitely possible.

If you are using the default routing, this 3rd portion of your example url is going to pickup the DateTime value as the {id} parameter. So your Action method might look like this:

You'll probably want to use a Nullable Datetime as I have, so if this parameter isn't included it won't cause an exception. Of course, if you don't want it to be named "id" then add another route entry replacing {id} with your name of choice.

As long as the text in the url will parse to a valid DateTime value, this is all you have to do. Something like the following works fine and will be picked up in your Action method without any errors:

The catch, in this case of course, is that I did not include the time. I'm not sure there are any ways to format a (valid) date string with the time not represented with colons, so if you MUST include the time in the url, you may need to use your own format and parse the result back into a DateTime manually. Say we replace the colon with a "!" in the actionlink: new { id = DateTime.Now.ToString("dd-MM-yyyy HH!mm") }.

Your action method will fail to parse this as a date so the best bet in this case would probably to accept it as a string:

To edit a commit other than the most recent:

Step1: git rebase -i HEAD~n to do interactive rebase for the last n commits affected. (i.e. if you want to change a commit message 3 commits back, do git rebase -i HEAD~3)

git will pop up an editor to handle those commits, notice this command:

#  r, reword = use commit, but edit the commit message

that is exactly we need!

Step2: Change pick to r for those commits that you want to update the message. Don't bother changing the commit message here, it will be ignored. You'll do that on the next step. Save and close the editor.

Note that if you edit your rebase 'plan' yet it doesn't begin the process of letting you rename the files, run:

git rebase --continue

If you want to change the text editor used for the interactive session (e.g. from the default vi to nano), run:

GIT_EDITOR=nano git rebase -i HEAD~n

Step3: Git will pop up another editor for every revision you put r before. Update the commit msg as you like, then save and close the editor.

Step4: After all commits msgs are updated. you might want to do git push -f to update the remote.

You first have to define a JTextArea as per usual:

The major concern here is that the collections don't keep the type in the definition. The types are only available in runtime. I came up with a function to test complex collections (it has one constraint though).

Check if the object is an instance of a generic collection. In order to represent a collection,

  • No classes, always false
  • One class, it is not a collection and returns the result of instanceof evaluation
  • To represent a List or Set, the type of the list comes next e.g. {List, Integer} for List<Integer>
  • To represent a Map, the key and value types come next e.g. {Map, String, Integer} for Map<String, Integer>

More complex use cases could be generated using the same rules. For example in order to represent List<Map<String, GenericRecord>>, it can be called as

Java and SSL - java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException

Try javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword instead of javax.net.ssl.keyPassword: the latter isn't mentioned in the JSSE ref guide.

The algorithms you mention should be there by default using the default security providers. NoSuchAlgorithmExceptions are often cause by other underlying exceptions (file not found, wrong password, wrong keystore type, ...). It's useful to look at the full stack trace.

You could also use -Djavax.net.debug=ssl, or at least -Djavax.net.debug=ssl,keymanager, to get more debugging information, if the information in the stack trace isn't sufficient.

DTO and DAO concepts and MVC

DTO is an abbreviation for Data Transfer Object, so it is used to transfer the data between classes and modules of your application.

  • DTO should only contain private fields for your data, getters, setters, and constructors.
  • DTO is not recommended to add business logic methods to such classes, but it is OK to add some util methods.

DAO is an abbreviation for Data Access Object, so it should encapsulate the logic for retrieving, saving and updating data in your data storage (a database, a file-system, whatever).

Here is an example of how the DAO and DTO interfaces would look like:

The MVC is a wider pattern. The DTO/DAO would be your model in the MVC pattern.

As for the second question, if you have a small application it is completely OK, however, if you want to follow the MVC pattern it would be better to have a separate controller, which would contain the business logic for your frame in a separate class and dispatch messages to this controller from the event handlers.
This would separate your business logic from the view.

For instance, a phone number of 11 numbers won't work with this option. The solution is to prefix your phone numbers with the country code.

Difference and uses of onCreate(), onCreateView() and onActivityCreated() in fragments

onCreate():

The onCreate() method in a Fragment is called after the Activity's onAttachFragment() but before that Fragment's onCreateView().
In this method, you can assign variables, get Intent extras, and anything else that doesn't involve the View hierarchy (i.e. non-graphical initialisations). This is because this method can be called when the Activity's onCreate() is not finished, and so trying to access the View hierarchy here may result in a crash.

onCreateView():

After the onCreate() is called (in the Fragment), the Fragment's onCreateView() is called. You can assign your View variables and do any graphical initialisations. You are expected to return a View from this method, and this is the main UI view, but if your Fragment does not use any layouts or graphics, you can return null (happens by default if you don't override).

onActivityCreated():

As the name states, this is called after the Activity's onCreate() has completed. It is called after onCreateView(), and is mainly used for final initialisations (for example, modifying UI elements). This is deprecated from API level 28.


To sum up...
... they are all called in the Fragment but are called at different times.
The onCreate() is called first, for doing any non-graphical initialisations. Next, you can assign and declare any View variables you want to use in onCreateView(). Afterwards, use onActivityCreated() to do any final initialisations you want to do once everything has completed.

If you bind the event through mootools' addEvent function your event handler will get a fixed (augmented) event passed as the parameter. It will always contain the preventDefault() method.

  1. You need to make sure that sanitize.js is loaded. For example, load it from https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/[LAST_VERSION]/angular-sanitize.min.js
  2. you need to include ngSanitize module on your app eg: var app = angular.module('myApp', ['ngSanitize']);
  3. you just need to bind with ng-bind-html the original html content. No need to do anything else in your controller. The parsing and conversion is automatically done by the ngBindHtml directive. (Read the How does it work section on this: $sce). So, in your case <div ng-bind-html="preview_data.preview.embed.html"></div> would do the work.

Running multiple async tasks and waiting for them all to complete

There should be a more succinct solution than the accepted answer. It shouldn't take three steps to run multiple tasks simultaneously and get their results.

  1. Create tasks
  2. await Task.WhenAll(tasks)
  3. Get task results (e.g., task1.Result)

Here's a method that cuts this down to two steps:

As it is, you've got Thing as an inner class, which (by definition) is associated with a particular instance of Hello (even if it never uses or refers to it), which means it's an error to say new Thing(); without having a particular Hello instance in scope.

passlib seems to be useful if you need to use hashes stored by an existing system. If you have control of the format, use a modern hash like bcrypt or scrypt. At this time, bcrypt seems to be much easier to use from python.

Trigger to fire only if a condition is met in SQL Server

Your where clause should have worked. I am at a loss as to why it didn't. Let me show you how I would have figured out the problem with the where clause as it might help you for the future.

When I create triggers, I start at the query window by creating a temp table called #inserted (and or #deleted) with all the columns of the table. Then I popultae it with typical values (Always multiple records and I try to hit the test cases in the values)

Then I write my triggers logic and I can test without it actually being in a trigger. In a case like your where clause not doing what was expected, I could easily test by commenting out the insert to see what the select was returning. I would then probably be easily able to see what the problem was. I assure you that where clasues do work in triggers if they are written correctly.

Once I know that the code works properly for all the cases, I global replace #inserted with inserted and add the create trigger code around it and voila, a tested trigger.

AS I said in a comment, I have a concern that the solution you picked will not work properly in a multiple record insert or update. Triggers should always be written to account for that as you cannot predict if and when they will happen (and they do happen eventually to pretty much every table.)

In my case I had JAVA_HOME set in the System variables as well as in my User Account variables and the latter was set to a wrong version of Java. I also had the same problem with the Path variable.

I had this problem, and the cause was rather silly. I was trying out Microsoft's demo regarding running a ServiceHost from w/in a Command Line executable. I followed the instructions, including where it says to add the appropriate Service (and interface). But I got the above error.

Turns out when I added the service class, VS automatically added the configuration to the app.config. And the demo was trying to add that info too. Since it was already in the config, I removed the demo part, and it worked.

In the accepted answer you get annoying spacing between the visible rows when the expandable row is hidden. You can get rid of that by adding this to css:

decimal vs double! - Which one should I use and when?

System.Single / float - 7 digits
System.Double / double - 15-16 digits
System.Decimal / decimal - 28-29 significant digits

The way I've been stung by using the wrong type (a good few years ago) is with large amounts:

  • £520,532.52 - 8 digits
  • £1,323,523.12 - 9 digits

You run out at 1 million for a float.

A 15 digit monetary value:

  • £1,234,567,890,123.45

9 trillion with a double. But with division and comparisons it's more complicated (I'm definitely no expert in floating point and irrational numbers - see Marc's point). Mixing decimals and doubles causes issues:

A mathematical or comparison operation that uses a floating-point number might not yield the same result if a decimal number is used because the floating-point number might not exactly approximate the decimal number.

On Ubuntu 13, the following does it, maybe a tad faster, as it reverses the sort and uses 'head' instead of 'tail', reducing the work. To show the 11 newest files in a tree:

Where is `%p` useful with printf?

They do not do the same thing. The latter printf statement interprets b as an unsigned int, which is wrong, as b is a pointer.

Pointers and unsigned ints are not always the same size, so these are not interchangeable. When they aren't the same size (an increasingly common case, as 64-bit CPUs and operating systems become more common), %x will only print half of the address. On a Mac (and probably some other systems), that will ruin the address; the output will be wrong.

Always use %p for pointers.

C - reading command line parameters

When you write your main function, you typically see one of two definitions:

  • int main(void)
  • int main(int argc, char **argv)

The second form will allow you to access the command line arguments passed to the program, and the number of arguments specified (arguments are separated by spaces).

The arguments to main are:

  • int argc - the number of arguments passed into your program when it was run. It is at least 1.
  • char **argv - this is a pointer-to-char *. It can alternatively be this: char *argv[], which means 'array of char *'. This is an array of C-style-string pointers.

Basic Example

For example, you could do this to print out the arguments passed to your C program:

Turns out escaping still occuring and unexpected happening, especially in a Java cookie environment where the cookie is wrapped with double quotes if it encounters the last characters.

jQuery - Redirect with post data

However, some really old FreeMarker integrations use a strange configuration, where the public Map methods (like getClass) appear as keys. You should avoid such a setup, as it mixes the methods with real Map entries. But if you run into such unfortunate setup, the way to escape the situation is using the exposed Java methods, such as user.entrySet(), user.get(key), etc., and not using the template language constructs like ?keys or user[key].

NPM doesn't install module dependencies

OP may be true for an older version of node. However, I faced the same with node 4.4.1 as well.

It very well may be linked to the node version you are using. Try to upgrade to a latest version. Certain dependencies don't load transitively if they are incompatible with node version.

I found this by running npm update.

After upgrading to latest version (4.4 -> 5.9); this got fixed.

The splat and spread operators are part of ES6, the planned next version of Javascript. So far only Firefox supports them. This code works in FF16+:

It's not clear whether you're asking this because you are new to programming, but if that's the case then you should probably read this article on loops and indeed read some basic materials on programming.

If you already know about control structures and you want the R-specific implementation details then there are dozens of tutorials around, such as this one. The other answer uses replicate and colMeans, which is idiomatic when writing in R and probably blazing fast as well, which is important if you want 10,000 iterations.

However, one more general and (for beginners) straightforward way to approach problems of this sort would be to use a for loop.

As mentioned above, replicate is a more natural way to deal with this specific problem using R. jQuery click events not working in iOS

Recently when working on a web app for a client, I noticed that any click events added to a non-anchor element didn't work on the iPad or iPhone. All desktop and other mobile devices worked fine - but as the Apple products are the most popular mobile devices, it was important to get it fixed.

Turns out that any non-anchor element assigned a click handler in jQuery must either have an onClick attribute (can be empty like below):

It's because the CPU doesn't have so many cache misses (where it has to wait for the array data to come from the RAM chips). It would be interesting for you to adjust the size of the arrays continually so that you exceed the sizes of the level 1 cache (L1), and then the level 2 cache (L2), of your CPU and plot the time taken for your code to execute against the sizes of the arrays. The graph shouldn't be a straight line like you'd expect.
