Programs & Examples On #Expandablelistview

ExpandableListView is a standard Android widget that shows items in a vertically scrolling two-level list. Groups can be expanded or collapsed to show/hide their child items. Additional Information: - Android Developer ExpandableListView

RecyclerView expand/collapse items

Not saying this is the best approach, but it seems to work for me.

The full code may be found at: Example code at: https://github.com/dbleicher/recyclerview-grid-quickreturn

First off, add the expanded area to your cell/item layout, and make the enclosing cell layout animateLayoutChanges="true". This will ensure that the expand/collapse is animated:

<LinearLayout
    android:id="@+id/llCardBack"
    android:layout_width="fill_parent"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:background="@android:color/white"
    android:animateLayoutChanges="true"
    android:padding="4dp"
    android:orientation="vertical">

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/tvTitle"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_gravity="center|fill_horizontal"
        android:padding="10dp"
        android:gravity="center"
        android:background="@android:color/holo_green_dark"
        android:text="This is a long title to show wrapping of text in the view."
        android:textColor="@android:color/white"
        android:textSize="16sp" />

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/tvSubTitle"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_gravity="center|fill_horizontal"
        android:background="@android:color/holo_purple"
        android:padding="6dp"
        android:text="My subtitle..."
        android:textColor="@android:color/white"
        android:textSize="12sp" />

    <LinearLayout
        android:id="@+id/llExpandArea"
        android:visibility="gone"
        android:layout_width="fill_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:gravity="center"
        android:orientation="horizontal">

        <TextView
            android:layout_width="wrap_content"
            android:layout_height="wrap_content"
            android:layout_margin="6dp"
            android:text="Item One" />

        <TextView
            android:layout_width="wrap_content"
            android:layout_height="wrap_content"
            android:layout_margin="6dp"
            android:text="Item Two" />

    </LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>

Then, make your RV Adapter class implement View.OnClickListener so that you can act on the item being clicked. Add an int field to hold the position of the one expanded view, and initialize it to a negative value:

private int expandedPosition = -1;

Finally, implement your ViewHolder, onBindViewHolder() methods and override the onClick() method. You will expand the view in onBindViewHolder if it's position is equal to "expandedPosition", and hide it if not. You set the value of expandedPosition in the onClick listener:

@Override
public void onBindViewHolder(RVAdapter.ViewHolder holder, int position) {

    int colorIndex = randy.nextInt(bgColors.length);
    holder.tvTitle.setText(mDataset.get(position));
    holder.tvTitle.setBackgroundColor(bgColors[colorIndex]);
    holder.tvSubTitle.setBackgroundColor(sbgColors[colorIndex]);

    if (position == expandedPosition) {
        holder.llExpandArea.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
    } else {
        holder.llExpandArea.setVisibility(View.GONE);
    }
}

@Override
public void onClick(View view) {
    ViewHolder holder = (ViewHolder) view.getTag();
    String theString = mDataset.get(holder.getPosition());

    // Check for an expanded view, collapse if you find one
    if (expandedPosition >= 0) {
        int prev = expandedPosition;
        notifyItemChanged(prev);
    }
    // Set the current position to "expanded"
    expandedPosition = holder.getPosition();
    notifyItemChanged(expandedPosition);

    Toast.makeText(mContext, "Clicked: "+theString, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}

/**
 * Create a ViewHolder to represent your cell layout
 * and data element structure
 */
public static class ViewHolder extends RecyclerView.ViewHolder {
    TextView tvTitle;
    TextView tvSubTitle;
    LinearLayout llExpandArea;

    public ViewHolder(View itemView) {
        super(itemView);

        tvTitle = (TextView) itemView.findViewById(R.id.tvTitle);
        tvSubTitle = (TextView) itemView.findViewById(R.id.tvSubTitle);
        llExpandArea = (LinearLayout) itemView.findViewById(R.id.llExpandArea);
    }
}

This should expand only one item at a time, using the system-default animation for the layout change. At least it works for me. Hope it helps.

Get value (String) of ArrayList<ArrayList<String>>(); in Java

Because the second element is null after you clear the list.

Use:

String s = myList.get(0);

And remember, index 0 is the first element.

Simple way to unzip a .zip file using zlib

zlib handles the deflate compression/decompression algorithm, but there is more than that in a ZIP file.

You can try libzip. It is free, portable and easy to use.

UPDATE: Here I attach quick'n'dirty example of libzip, with all the error controls ommited:

#include <zip.h>

int main()
{
    //Open the ZIP archive
    int err = 0;
    zip *z = zip_open("foo.zip", 0, &err);

    //Search for the file of given name
    const char *name = "file.txt";
    struct zip_stat st;
    zip_stat_init(&st);
    zip_stat(z, name, 0, &st);

    //Alloc memory for its uncompressed contents
    char *contents = new char[st.size];

    //Read the compressed file
    zip_file *f = zip_fopen(z, name, 0);
    zip_fread(f, contents, st.size);
    zip_fclose(f);

    //And close the archive
    zip_close(z);

    //Do something with the contents
    //delete allocated memory
    delete[] contents;
}

Why should a Java class implement comparable?

For example when you want to have a sorted collection or map

Right HTTP status code to wrong input

We had the same problem when making our API as well. We were looking for an HTTP status code equivalent to an InvalidArgumentException. After reading the source article below, we ended up using 422 Unprocessable Entity which states:

The 422 (Unprocessable Entity) status code means the server understands the content type of the request entity (hence a 415 (Unsupported Media Type) status code is inappropriate), and the syntax of the request entity is correct (thus a 400 (Bad Request) status code is inappropriate) but was unable to process the contained instructions. For example, this error condition may occur if an XML request body contains well-formed (i.e., syntactically correct), but semantically erroneous, XML instructions.

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near ' '

For the OP's command:

select compid,2, convert(datetime, '01/01/' + CONVERT(char(4),cal_yr) ,101) ,0,  Update_dt, th1, th2, th3_pc , Update_id, Update_dt,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

I get this error:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

when debugging something like this split the long line up so you'll get a better row number:

select compid
,2
, convert(datetime
, '01/01/'
+ CONVERT(char(4)
,cal_yr)
,101)
,0
,  Update_dt
, th1
, th2
, th3_pc
, Update_id
, Update_dt
,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

this now results in:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 16
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

which is probably just from the OP not putting the entire command in the question, or use [ ] braces to signify the table name:

from [#tmp_CTF**]

if that is the table name.

How do I get bootstrap-datepicker to work with Bootstrap 3?

For anyone else who runs into this...

Version 1.2.0 of this plugin (current as of this post) doesn't quite work in all cases as documented with Bootstrap 3.0, but it does with a minor workaround.

Specifically, if using an input with icon, the HTML markup is of course slightly different as class names have changed:

<div class="input-group" data-datepicker="true">
    <input name="date" type="text" class="form-control" />
    <span class="input-group-addon"><i class="icon-calendar"></i></span>
</div>

It seems because of this, you need to use a selector that points directly to the input element itself NOT the parent container (which is what the auto generated HTML on the demo page suggests).

$('*[data-datepicker="true"] input[type="text"]').datepicker({
    todayBtn: true,
    orientation: "top left",
    autoclose: true,
    todayHighlight: true
});

Having done this you will probably also want to add a listener for clicking/tapping on the icon so it sets focus on the text input when clicked (which is the behaviour when using this plugin with TB 2.x by default).

$(document).on('touch click', '*[data-datepicker="true"] .input-group-addon', function(e){
    $('input[type="text"]', $(this).parent()).focus();
});

NB: I just use a data-datepicker boolean attribute because the class name 'datepicker' is reserved by the plugin and I already use 'date' for styling elements.

Wget output document and headers to STDOUT

Try the following, no extra headers

wget -qO- www.google.com

Note the trailing -. This is part of the normal command argument for -O to cat out to a file, but since we don't use > to direct to a file, it goes out to the shell. You can use -qO- or -qO -.

redistributable offline .NET Framework 3.5 installer for Windows 8

After several month without real solution for this problem, I suppose that the best solution is to upgrade the application to .NET framework 4.0, which is supported by Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 2012 Server by default and it is still available as offline installation for Windows XP.

How can I do width = 100% - 100px in CSS?

It started to work for me only when I checked all the spaces. So, it didn't work like this: width: calc(100%- 20px) or calc(100%-20px) and perfectly worked with width: calc(100% - 20px).

How to use continue in jQuery each() loop?

return or return false are not the same as continue. If the loop is inside a function the remainder of the function will not execute as you would expect with a true "continue".

belongs_to through associations

The has_many :choices creates an association named choices, not choice. Try using current_user.choices instead.

See the ActiveRecord::Associations documentation for information about about the has_many magic.

error LNK2005, already defined?

Presence of int k; in the header file causes symbol k to be defined within each translation unit this header is included to while linker expects it to be defined only once (aka One Definition Rule Violation).

While suggestion involving extern are not wrong, extern is a C-ism and should not be used.

Pre C++17 solution that would allow variable in header file to be defined in multiple translation units without causing ODR violation would be conversion to template:

template<typename x_Dummy = void> class
t_HeaderVariableHolder
{
    public: static int s_k;
};

template<typename x_Dummy> int t_HeaderVariableHolder<x_Dummy>::s_k{};

// Getter is necessary to decouple variable storage implementation details from access to it.
inline int & Get_K() noexcept
{
    return t_HeaderVariableHolder<>::s_k;
}

With C++17 things become much simpler as it allows inline variables:

inline int g_k{};

// Getter is necessary to decouple variable storage implementation details from access to it.
inline int & Get_K() noexcept
{
    return g_k;
}

How to make Twitter Bootstrap menu dropdown on hover rather than click

In addition to the answer from "My Head Hurts" (which was great):

ul.nav li.dropdown:hover ul.dropdown-menu{
    display: block;
}

There are 2 lingering issues:

  1. Clicking on the dropdown link will open the dropdown-menu. And it will stay open unless the user clicks somewhere else, or hovers back over it, creating an awkward UI.
  2. There is a 1px margin between the dropdown link, and dropdown-menu. This causes the dropdown-menu to become hidden if you move slowly between the dropdown and dropdown-menu.

The solution to (1) is removing the "class" and "data-toggle" elements from the nav link

<a href="#">
     Dropdown
     <b class="caret"></b>
</a>

This also gives you the ability to create a link to your parent page - which wasn't possible with the default implementation. You can just replace the "#" with whatever page you want to send the user.

The solution to (2) is removing the margin-top on the .dropdown-menu selector

.navbar .dropdown-menu {
    margin-top: 0px;
}

}

Convert nullable bool? to bool

You can use Nullable{T} GetValueOrDefault() method. This will return false if null.

 bool? nullableBool = null;

 bool actualBool = nullableBool.GetValueOrDefault();

Do you have to put Task.Run in a method to make it async?

When you use Task.Run to run a method, Task gets a thread from threadpool to run that method. So from the UI thread's perspective, it is "asynchronous" as it doesn't block UI thread.This is fine for desktop application as you usually don't need many threads to take care of user interactions.

However, for web application each request is serviced by a thread-pool thread and thus the number of active requests can be increased by saving such threads. Frequently using threadpool threads to simulate async operation is not scalable for web applications.

True Async doesn't necessarily involving using a thread for I/O operations, such as file / DB access etc. You can read this to understand why I/O operation doesn't need threads. http://blog.stephencleary.com/2013/11/there-is-no-thread.html

In your simple example,it is a pure CPU-bound calculation, so using Task.Run is fine.

How to connect to LocalDB in Visual Studio Server Explorer?

In Visual Studio 2012 all I had to do was enter:

(localdb)\v11.0

Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio 2017 changed to:

(localdb)\MSSQLLocalDB

as the server name when adding a Microsoft SQL Server Data source in:

View/Server Explorer/(Right click) Data Connections/Add Connection

and then the database names were populated. I didn't need to do all the other steps in the accepted answer, although it would be nice if the server name was available automatically in the server name combo box.

You can also browse the LocalDB database names available on your machine using:

View/SQL Server Object Explorer.

How do you get the magnitude of a vector in Numpy?

The function you're after is numpy.linalg.norm. (I reckon it should be in base numpy as a property of an array -- say x.norm() -- but oh well).

import numpy as np
x = np.array([1,2,3,4,5])
np.linalg.norm(x)

You can also feed in an optional ord for the nth order norm you want. Say you wanted the 1-norm:

np.linalg.norm(x,ord=1)

And so on.

What's the Kotlin equivalent of Java's String[]?

To create an empty Array of Strings in Kotlin you should use one of the following six approaches:

First approach:

val empty = arrayOf<String>()

Second approach:

val empty = arrayOf("","","")

Third approach:

val empty = Array<String?>(3) { null }

Fourth approach:

val empty = arrayOfNulls<String>(3)

Fifth approach:

val empty = Array<String>(3) { "it = $it" }

Sixth approach:

val empty = Array<String>(0, { _ -> "" })

How to check if a class inherits another class without instantiating it?

To check for assignability, you can use the Type.IsAssignableFrom method:

typeof(SomeType).IsAssignableFrom(typeof(Derived))

This will work as you expect for type-equality, inheritance-relationships and interface-implementations but not when you are looking for 'assignability' across explicit / implicit conversion operators.

To check for strict inheritance, you can use Type.IsSubclassOf:

typeof(Derived).IsSubclassOf(typeof(SomeType))

How to print the full NumPy array, without truncation?

You can use the array2string function - docs.

a = numpy.arange(10000).reshape(250,40)
print(numpy.array2string(a, threshold=numpy.nan, max_line_width=numpy.nan))
# [Big output]

How do I check if a string is valid JSON in Python?

I would say parsing it is the only way you can really entirely tell. Exception will be raised by python's json.loads() function (almost certainly) if not the correct format. However, the the purposes of your example you can probably just check the first couple of non-whitespace characters...

I'm not familiar with the JSON that facebook sends back, but most JSON strings from web apps will start with a open square [ or curly { bracket. No images formats I know of start with those characters.

Conversely if you know what image formats might show up, you can check the start of the string for their signatures to identify images, and assume you have JSON if it's not an image.

Another simple hack to identify a graphic, rather than a text string, in the case you're looking for a graphic, is just to test for non-ASCII characters in the first couple of dozen characters of the string (assuming the JSON is ASCII).

Move the most recent commit(s) to a new branch with Git

1) Create a new branch, which moves all your changes to new_branch.

git checkout -b new_branch

2) Then go back to old branch.

git checkout master

3) Do git rebase

git rebase -i <short-hash-of-B-commit>

4) Then the opened editor contains last 3 commit information.

...
pick <C's hash> C
pick <D's hash> D
pick <E's hash> E
...

5) Change pick to drop in all those 3 commits. Then save and close the editor.

...
drop <C's hash> C
drop <D's hash> D
drop <E's hash> E
...

6) Now last 3 commits are removed from current branch (master). Now push the branch forcefully, with + sign before branch name.

git push origin +master

Window vs Page vs UserControl for WPF navigation?

All depends on the app you're trying to build. Use Windows if you're building a dialog based app. Use Pages if you're building a navigation based app. UserControls will be useful regardless of the direction you go as you can use them in both Windows and Pages.

A good place to start exploring is here: http://windowsclient.net/learn

Create an empty data.frame

Just initialize it with empty vectors:

df <- data.frame(Date=as.Date(character()),
                 File=character(),
                 User=character(),
                 stringsAsFactors=FALSE)

Here's an other example with different column types :

df <- data.frame(Doubles=double(),
                 Ints=integer(),
                 Factors=factor(),
                 Logicals=logical(),
                 Characters=character(),
                 stringsAsFactors=FALSE)

str(df)
> str(df)
'data.frame':   0 obs. of  5 variables:
 $ Doubles   : num
 $ Ints      : int
 $ Factors   : Factor w/ 0 levels:
 $ Logicals  : logi
 $ Characters: chr

N.B. :

Initializing a data.frame with an empty column of the wrong type does not prevent further additions of rows having columns of different types.
This method is just a bit safer in the sense that you'll have the correct column types from the beginning, hence if your code relies on some column type checking, it will work even with a data.frame with zero rows.

php how to go one level up on dirname(__FILE__)

You can use realpath to remove unnessesary part:

// One level up
echo str_replace(realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/..'), '', realpath(dirname(__FILE__)));

// Two levels etc.
echo str_replace(realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../..'), '', realpath(dirname(__FILE__)));

On windows also replace \ with / if need that in URL.

proper hibernate annotation for byte[]

Thanks Justin, Pascal for guiding me to the right direction. I was also facing the same issue with Hibernate 3.5.3. Your research and pointers to the right classes had helped me identify the issue and do a fix.

For the benefit for those who are still stuck with Hibernate 3.5 and using oid + byte[] + @LoB combination, following is what I have done to fix the issue.

  1. I created a custom BlobType extending MaterializedBlobType and overriding the set and the get methods with the oid style access.

    public class CustomBlobType extends MaterializedBlobType {

    private static final String POSTGRESQL_DIALECT = PostgreSQLDialect.class.getName();

    /**
     * Currently set dialect.
     */
    private String dialect = hibernateConfiguration.getProperty(Environment.DIALECT);

    /*
     * (non-Javadoc)
     * @see org.hibernate.type.AbstractBynaryType#set(java.sql.PreparedStatement, java.lang.Object, int)
     */
    @Override
    public void set(PreparedStatement st, Object value, int index) throws HibernateException, SQLException {
        byte[] internalValue = toInternalFormat(value);

        if (POSTGRESQL_DIALECT.equals(dialect)) {
            try {

    //I had access to sessionFactory through a custom sessionFactory wrapper.
    st.setBlob(index, Hibernate.createBlob(internalValue, sessionFactory.getCurrentSession()));
                } catch (SystemException e) {
                    throw new HibernateException(e);
                }
            } else {
                st.setBytes(index, internalValue);
            }
        }

    /*
     * (non-Javadoc)
     * @see org.hibernate.type.AbstractBynaryType#get(java.sql.ResultSet, java.lang.String)
     */
    @Override
    public Object get(ResultSet rs, String name) throws HibernateException, SQLException {
        Blob blob = rs.getBlob(name);
        if (rs.wasNull()) {
            return null;
        }
        int length = (int) blob.length();
        return toExternalFormat(blob.getBytes(1, length));
      }
    }

    1. Register the CustomBlobType with Hibernate. Following is what i did to achieve that.

      hibernateConfiguration= new AnnotationConfiguration();
      Mappings mappings = hibernateConfiguration.createMappings();
      mappings.addTypeDef("materialized_blob", "x.y.z.BlobType", null);

Add Custom Headers using HttpWebRequest

A simple method of creating the service, adding headers and reading the JSON response,

private static void WebRequest()
{
    const string WEBSERVICE_URL = "<<Web Service URL>>";
    try
    {
        var webRequest = System.Net.WebRequest.Create(WEBSERVICE_URL);
        if (webRequest != null)
        {
            webRequest.Method = "GET";
            webRequest.Timeout = 20000;
            webRequest.ContentType = "application/json";
            webRequest.Headers.Add("Authorization", "Basic dcmGV25hZFzc3VudDM6cGzdCdvQ=");
            using (System.IO.Stream s = webRequest.GetResponse().GetResponseStream())
            {
                using (System.IO.StreamReader sr = new System.IO.StreamReader(s))
                {
                    var jsonResponse = sr.ReadToEnd();
                    Console.WriteLine(String.Format("Response: {0}", jsonResponse));
                }
            }
        }
    }
    catch (Exception ex)
    {
        Console.WriteLine(ex.ToString());
    }
}

Sorting a list with stream.sorted() in Java

It seems to be working fine:

List<BigDecimal> list = Arrays.asList(new BigDecimal("24.455"), new BigDecimal("23.455"), new BigDecimal("28.455"), new BigDecimal("20.455"));
System.out.println("Unsorted list: " + list);
final List<BigDecimal> sortedList = list.stream().sorted((o1, o2) -> o1.compareTo(o2)).collect(Collectors.toList());
System.out.println("Sorted list: " + sortedList);

Example Input/Output

Unsorted list: [24.455, 23.455, 28.455, 20.455]
Sorted list: [20.455, 23.455, 24.455, 28.455]

Are you sure you are not verifying list instead of sortedList [in above example] i.e. you are storing the result of stream() in a new List object and verifying that object?

force browsers to get latest js and css files in asp.net application

There is a simpler answer to this than the answer given by the op in the question (the approach is the same):

Define the key in the web.config:

<add key="VersionNumber" value="06032014"/>

Make the call to appsettings directly from the aspx page:

<link href="styles/navigation.css?v=<%=ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["VersionNumber"]%>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

What is the best way to delete a component with CLI

Make new column in Panda dataframe by adding values from other columns

As of Pandas version 0.16.0 you can use assign as follows:

df = pd.DataFrame({"A": [1,2,3], "B": [4,6,9]})
df.assign(C = df.A + df.B)

# Out[383]:
#    A  B   C
# 0  1  4   5
# 1  2  6   8
# 2  3  9  12

You can add multiple columns this way as follows:

df.assign(C = df.A + df.B,
          Diff = df.B - df.A,
          Mult = df.A * df.B)
# Out[379]:
#    A  B   C  Diff  Mult
# 0  1  4   5     3     4
# 1  2  6   8     4    12
# 2  3  9  12     6    27

How to convert a string variable containing time to time_t type in c++?

You can use strptime(3) to parse the time, and then mktime(3) to convert it to a time_t:

const char *time_details = "16:35:12";
struct tm tm;
strptime(time_details, "%H:%M:%S", &tm);
time_t t = mktime(&tm);  // t is now your desired time_t

Path to MSBuild

You wouldn't think there's much to add here, but perhaps it's time for a unified way of doing this across all versions. I've combined the registry-query approach (VS2015 and below) with use of vswhere (VS2017 and above) to come up with this:

function Find-MsBuild {
    Write-Host "Using VSWhere to find msbuild..."
    $path = & $vswhere -latest -requires Microsoft.Component.MSBuild -find MSBuild\**\Bin\MSBuild.exe | select-object -first 1

    if (!$path) {
        Write-Host "No results from VSWhere, using registry key query to find msbuild (note this will find pre-VS2017 versions)..."
        $path = Resolve-Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSBuild\ToolsVersions\* |
                    Get-ItemProperty -Name MSBuildToolsPath |
                    sort -Property @{ Expression={ [double]::Parse($_.PSChildName) }; Descending=$true } |
                    select -exp MSBuildToolsPath -First 1 |
                    Join-Path -ChildPath "msbuild.exe"
    }

    if (!$path) {
        throw "Unable to find path to msbuild.exe"
    }

    if (!(Test-Path $path)) {
        throw "Found path to msbuild as $path, but file does not exist there"
    }

    Write-Host "Using MSBuild at $path..."
    return $path
}

Can I write or modify data on an RFID tag?

I did some development with Mifare Classic (ISO 14443A) cards about 7-8 years ago. You can read and write to all sectors of the card, IIRC the only data you can't change is the serial number. Back then we used a proprietary library from Philips Semiconductors. The command interface to the card was quite alike the ISO 7816-4 (used with standard Smart Cards).

I'd recomment that you look at the OpenPCD platform if you are into development.

This is also of interest regarding the cryptographic functions in some RFID cards.

strange error in my Animation Drawable

Looks like whatever is in your Animation Drawable definition is too much memory to decode and sequence. The idea is that it loads up all the items and make them in an array and swaps them in and out of the scene according to the timing specified for each frame.

If this all can't fit into memory, it's probably better to either do this on your own with some sort of handler or better yet just encode a movie with the specified frames at the corresponding images and play the animation through a video codec.

sklearn: Found arrays with inconsistent numbers of samples when calling LinearRegression.fit()

To analyze two arrays (array1 and array2) they need to meet the following two requirements:

1) They need to be a numpy.ndarray

Check with

type(array1)
# and
type(array2)

If that is not the case for at least one of them perform

array1 = numpy.ndarray(array1)
# or
array2 = numpy.ndarray(array2)

2) The dimensions need to be as follows:

array1.shape #shall give (N, 1)
array2.shape #shall give (N,)

N is the number of items that are in the array. To provide array1 with the right number of axes perform:

array1 = array1[:, numpy.newaxis]

Angular 2 router no base href set

With angular 4 you can fix this issue by updating app.module.ts file as follows:

Add import statement at the top as below:

import {APP_BASE_HREF} from '@angular/common';

And add below line inside @NgModule

providers: [{provide: APP_BASE_HREF, useValue: '/my/app'}]

How can I remove a style added with .css() function?

There are several ways to remove a CSS property using jQuery:

1. Setting the CSS property to its default (initial) value

.css("background-color", "transparent")

See the initial value for the CSS property at MDN. Here the default value is transparent. You can also use inherit for several CSS properties to inherite the attribute from its parent. In CSS3/CSS4, you may also use initial, revert or unset but these keywords may have limited browser support.

2. Removing the CSS property

An empty string removes the CSS property, i.e.

.css("background-color","")

But beware, as specified in jQuery .css() documentation, this removes the property but it has compatibilty issues with IE8 for certain CSS shorthand properties, including background.

Setting the value of a style property to an empty string — e.g. $('#mydiv').css('color', '') — removes that property from an element if it has already been directly applied, whether in the HTML style attribute, through jQuery's .css() method, or through direct DOM manipulation of the style property. It does not, however, remove a style that has been applied with a CSS rule in a stylesheet or element. Warning: one notable exception is that, for IE 8 and below, removing a shorthand property such as border or background will remove that style entirely from the element, regardless of what is set in a stylesheet or element.

3. Removing the whole style of the element

.removeAttr("style")

How can I get the current network interface throughput statistics on Linux/UNIX?

I got another quick'n'dirty bash script for that:

#!/bin/bash
IF=$1
if [ -z "$IF" ]; then
        IF=`ls -1 /sys/class/net/ | head -1`
fi
RXPREV=-1
TXPREV=-1
echo "Listening $IF..."
while [ 1 == 1 ] ; do
        RX=`cat /sys/class/net/${IF}/statistics/rx_bytes`
        TX=`cat /sys/class/net/${IF}/statistics/tx_bytes`
        if [ $RXPREV -ne -1 ] ; then
                let BWRX=$RX-$RXPREV
                let BWTX=$TX-$TXPREV
                echo "Received: $BWRX B/s    Sent: $BWTX B/s"
        fi
        RXPREV=$RX
        TXPREV=$TX
        sleep 1
done

It's considering that sleep 1 will actually last exactly one second, which is not true, but good enough for a rough bandwidth assessment.

Thanks to @ephemient for the /sys/class/net/<interface>! :)

How to Use Content-disposition for force a file to download to the hard drive?

On the HTTP Response where you are returning the PDF file, ensure the content disposition header looks like:

Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=quot.pdf;

See content-disposition on the wikipedia MIME page.

how do I change text in a label with swift?

Swift uses the same cocoa-touch API. You can call all the same methods, but they will use Swift's syntax. In this example you can do something like this:

self.simpleLabel.text = "message"

Note the setText method isn't available. Setting the label's text with = will automatically call the setter in swift.

Adding days to $Date in PHP

All have to use bellow code:

$nday = time() + ( 24 * 60 * 60);
echo 'Now:       '. date('Y-m-d') ."\n";
echo 'Next Day: '. date('Y-m-d', $nday) ."\n";

Getting value from JQUERY datepicker

You can use the getDate method:

var d = $('div#someID').datepicker('getDate');

That will give you a Date object in d.

There aren't any options for positioning the popup but you might be able to do something with CSS or the beforeShow event if necessary.

How to make FileFilter in java?

From JDK8 on words it is as simple as

final String extension = ".java";
final File currentDir = new File(YOUR_DIRECTORY_PATH);
File[] files = currentDir.listFiles((File pathname) -> pathname.getName().endsWith(extension));

How to mock void methods with Mockito

Take a look at the Mockito API docs. As the linked document mentions (Point # 12) you can use any of the doThrow(),doAnswer(),doNothing(),doReturn() family of methods from Mockito framework to mock void methods.

For example,

Mockito.doThrow(new Exception()).when(instance).methodName();

or if you want to combine it with follow-up behavior,

Mockito.doThrow(new Exception()).doNothing().when(instance).methodName();

Presuming that you are looking at mocking the setter setState(String s) in the class World below is the code uses doAnswer method to mock the setState.

World mockWorld = mock(World.class);
doAnswer(new Answer<Void>() {
    public Void answer(InvocationOnMock invocation) {
      Object[] args = invocation.getArguments();
      System.out.println("called with arguments: " + Arrays.toString(args));
      return null;
    }
}).when(mockWorld).setState(anyString());

How to pass model attributes from one Spring MVC controller to another controller?

I used @ControllerAdvice , please check is available in Spring 3.X; I am using it in Spring 4.0.

Making the Android emulator run faster

On this year google I/O (2011), Google demonstrated a faster emulator. The problem is not so much on the byte code between ARM and x86 but the software rendering performed by QEMU. They bypass the rendering of QEMU and send the rendering directly to an X server I believe. They showed a car game with really good performace and fps.

I wonder when that will be available for developers...

Zsh: Conda/Pip installs command not found

I just ran into the same problem. As implicitly stated inside the .zshrc-file (in your user-root-folder), you need to migrate the pathes you've already inserted in your .bash_profile, bashrc or so to resolve this.

Copying all additional pathes from .bash_profile to .zshrc fixed it for me, cause zsh now knows where to look.

Instagram: Share photo from webpage

The short answer is: No. The only way to post images is through the mobile app.

From the Instagram API documentation: http://instagram.com/developer/endpoints/media/

At this time, uploading via the API is not possible. We made a conscious choice not to add this for the following reasons:

  • Instagram is about your life on the go – we hope to encourage photos from within the app. However, in the future we may give whitelist access to individual apps on a case by case basis.
  • We want to fight spam & low quality photos. Once we allow uploading from other sources, it's harder to control what comes into the Instagram ecosystem.

All this being said, we're working on ways to ensure users have a consistent and high-quality experience on our platform.

jQuery get selected option value (not the text, but the attribute 'value')

Source Link

Use jQuery val() to GET Selected Value and and text() to GET Option Text.

    <select id="myDropDown" class="form-control">

How can I recursively find all files in current and subfolders based on wildcard matching?

If you want to search special file with wildcard, you can used following code:

find . -type f -name "*.conf"

Suppose, you want to search every .conf files from here:

. means search started from here (current place)
-type means type of search item that here is file (f).
-name means you want to search files with *.conf names.

HRESULT: 0x800A03EC on Worksheet.range

Looking at the various responses above, and drawing on my own recent experience (I got this error code doing something completely unrelated -- setting Application.Calculation) I conclude that the same error code is used to indicate multiple unrelated problems. So @Garreh you should probably be asking a new question (not that anyone will be able to help based on the error code alone). I've seen the same thing working with Word interop from C#, where the same HRESULT seems to be used for almost every kind of error. I've never found any satisfactory Microsoft documentation on what the codes might mean.

javascript functions to show and hide divs

You need the link inside to be clickable, meaning it needs a href with some content, and also, close() is a built-in function of window, so you need to change the name of the function to avoid a conflict.

<div id="upbutton"><a href="#" onclick="close2()">click to close</a></div>

Also if you want a real "button" instead of a link, you should use <input type="button"/> or <button/>.

Dictionary returning a default value if the key does not exist

No, nothing like that exists. The extension method is the way to go, and your name for it (GetValueOrDefault) is a pretty good choice.

Display all post meta keys and meta values of the same post ID in wordpress

I use it in form of a meta box. Here is a function that dumps values of all the meta data for post.

    function dump_all_meta(){

        echo "<h3>All Post Meta</h3>";

        // Get all the data.
        $getPostCustom=get_post_custom();

        foreach( $getPostCustom as $name=>$value ) {

            echo "<strong>".$name."</strong>"."  =>  ";

            foreach($getPostCustom as $name=>$value) {

        echo "<strong>".$name."</strong>"."  =>  ";

        foreach($value as $nameAr=>$valueAr) {
                echo "<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;";
                echo $nameAr."  =>  ";
                echo var_dump($valueAr);
        }

        echo "<br /><br />";

        }
    } // Callback funtion ended.

Hope it helps. You can use it inside a meta box or at the front-end.

How do I access my SSH public key?

On Mac/unix and Windows:

ssh-keygen then follow the prompts. It will ask you for a name to the file (say you call it pubkey, for example). Right away, you should have your key fingerprint and your key's randomart image visible to you.

Then just use your favourite text editor and enter command vim pubkey.pub and it (your ssh-rsa key) should be there.

Replace vim with emacs or whatever other editor you have/prefer.

How to send data with angularjs $http.delete() request?

You can do an http DELETE via a URL like /users/1/roles/2. That would be the most RESTful way to do it.

Otherwise I guess you can just pass the user id as part of the query params? Something like

$http.delete('/roles/' + roleid, {params: {userId: userID}}).then...

Scale the contents of a div by a percentage?

You can simply use the zoom property:

#myContainer{
    zoom: 0.5;
    -moz-transform: scale(0.5);
}

Where myContainer contains all the elements you're editing. This is supported in all major browsers.

Phonegap Cordova installation Windows

Determine if map contains a value for a key?

To succinctly summarize some of the other answers:

If you're not using C++ 20 yet, you can write your own mapContainsKey function:

bool mapContainsKey(std::map<int, int>& map, int key)
{
  if (map.find(key) == map.end()) return false;
  return true;
}

If you'd like to avoid many overloads for map vs unordered_map and different key and value types, you can make this a template function.

If you're using C++ 20 or later, there will be a built-in contains function:

std::map<int, int> myMap;

// do stuff with myMap here

int key = 123;

if (myMap.contains(key))
{
  // stuff here
}

How to find all combinations of coins when given some dollar value

This is a really old question, but I came up with a recursive solution in java that seemed smaller than all the others, so here goes -

 public static void printAll(int ind, int[] denom,int N,int[] vals){
    if(N==0){
        System.out.println(Arrays.toString(vals));
        return;
    }
    if(ind == (denom.length))return;
    int currdenom = denom[ind];
    for(int i=0;i<=(N/currdenom);i++){
        vals[ind] = i;
        printAll(ind+1,denom,N-i*currdenom,vals);
    }
 }

Improvements:

  public static void printAllCents(int ind, int[] denom,int N,int[] vals){
        if(N==0){
            if(ind < denom.length) {
                for(int i=ind;i<denom.length;i++)
                    vals[i] = 0;
            }
            System.out.println(Arrays.toString(vals));
            return;
        }
        if(ind == (denom.length)) {
            vals[ind-1] = 0;
            return;
        }

        int currdenom = denom[ind];
        for(int i=0;i<=(N/currdenom);i++){
                vals[ind] = i;
                printAllCents(ind+1,denom,N-i*currdenom,vals);
        }
     }

json_encode sparse PHP array as JSON array, not JSON object

$arr3=array($arr1,$arr2);
print (json_encode($arr3));

Convert Iterable to Stream using Java 8 JDK

So as another answer mentioned Guava has support for this by using:

Streams.stream(iterable);

I want to highlight that the implementation does something slightly different than other answers suggested. If the Iterable is of type Collection they cast it.

public static <T> Stream<T> stream(Iterable<T> iterable) {
  return (iterable instanceof Collection)
    ? ((Collection<T>) iterable).stream()
    : StreamSupport.stream(iterable.spliterator(), false);
}

public static <T> Stream<T> stream(Iterator<T> iterator) {
  return StreamSupport.stream(
    Spliterators.spliteratorUnknownSize(iterator, 0),
    false
  );
}

When do I need to use a semicolon vs a slash in Oracle SQL?

I wanted to clarify some more use between the ; and the /

In SQLPLUS:

  1. ; means "terminate the current statement, execute it and store it to the SQLPLUS buffer"
  2. <newline> after a D.M.L. (SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT,...) statement or some types of D.D.L (Creating Tables and Views) statements (that contain no ;), it means, store the statement to the buffer but do not run it.
  3. / after entering a statement into the buffer (with a blank <newline>) means "run the D.M.L. or D.D.L. or PL/SQL in the buffer.
  4. RUN or R is a sqlsplus command to show/output the SQL in the buffer and run it. It will not terminate a SQL Statement.
  5. / during the entering of a D.M.L. or D.D.L. or PL/SQL means "terminate the current statement, execute it and store it to the SQLPLUS buffer"

NOTE: Because ; are used for PL/SQL to end a statement ; cannot be used by SQLPLUS to mean "terminate the current statement, execute it and store it to the SQLPLUS buffer" because we want the whole PL/SQL block to be completely in the buffer, then execute it. PL/SQL blocks must end with:

END;
/

What is the difference between README and README.md in GitHub projects?

.md is markdown. README.md is used to generate the html summary you see at the bottom of projects. Github has their own flavor of Markdown.

Order of Preference: If you have two files named README and README.md, the file named README.md is preferred, and it will be used to generate github's html summary.

FWIW, Stack Overflow uses local Markdown modifications as well (also see Stack Overflow's C# Markdown Processor)

How to pass event as argument to an inline event handler in JavaScript?

Since inline events are executed as functions you can simply use arguments.

<p id="p" onclick="doSomething.apply(this, arguments)">

and

function doSomething(e) {
  if (!e) e = window.event;
  // 'e' is the event.
  // 'this' is the P element
}

The 'event' that is mentioned in the accepted answer is actually the name of the argument passed to the function. It has nothing to do with the global event.

Reset CSS display property to default value

If you have access to JavaScript, you can create an element and read its computed style.

function defaultValueOfCssPropertyForElement(cssPropertyName, elementTagName, opt_pseudoElement) {
    var pseudoElement = opt_pseudoElement || null;
    var element = document.createElement(elementTagName);
    document.body.appendChild(element);
    var computedStyle = getComputedStyle(element, pseudoElement)[cssPropertyName];
    element.remove();
    return computedStyle;
}

// Usage:
defaultValueOfCssPropertyForElement('display', 'div'); // Output: 'block'
defaultValueOfCssPropertyForElement('content', 'div', ':after'); // Output: 'none'

How do I subscribe to all topics of a MQTT broker

Subscribing to # gives you a subscription to everything except for topics that start with a $ (these are normally control topics anyway).

It is better to know what you are subscribing to first though, of course, and note that some broker configurations may disallow subscribing to # explicitly.

Recursion or Iteration?

Recursion? Where do I start, wiki will tell you “it’s the process of repeating items in a self-similar way"

Back in day when I was doing C, C++ recursion was a god send, stuff like "Tail recursion". You'll also find many sorting algorithms use recursion. Quick sort example: http://alienryderflex.com/quicksort/

.NET Excel Library that can read/write .xls files

Is there a reason why you can't use the Excel ODBC connection to read and write to Excel? For example, I've used the following code to read from an Excel file row by row like a database:

private DataTable LoadExcelData(string fileName)
{
  string Connection = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + fileName + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\";";

  OleDbConnection con = new OleDbConnection(Connection);

  OleDbCommand command = new OleDbCommand();

  DataTable dt = new DataTable(); OleDbDataAdapter myCommand = new OleDbDataAdapter("select * from [Sheet1$] WHERE LastName <> '' ORDER BY LastName, FirstName", con);

  myCommand.Fill(dt);

  Console.WriteLine(dt.Rows.Count);

  return dt;
}

You can write to the Excel "database" the same way. As you can see, you can select the version number to use so that you can downgrade Excel versions for the machine with Excel 2003. Actually, the same is true for using the Interop. You can use the lower version and it should work with Excel 2003 even though you only have the higher version on your development PC.

How can I get the current array index in a foreach loop?

based on @fabien-snauwaert's answer but simplified if you do not need the original key

$array = array( 'cat' => 'meow', 'dog' => 'woof', 'cow' => 'moo', 'computer' => 'beep' );
foreach( array_values( $array ) as $index=>$value ) {

    // display the current index + value
    echo $index . ':' . $value;

    // first index
    if ( $index == 0 ) {
        echo ' -- This is the first element in the associative array';
    }

    // last index
    if ( $index == count( $array ) - 1 ) {
        echo ' -- This is the last element in the associative array';
    }
    echo '<br>';
}

OSError - Errno 13 Permission denied

You need to change the directory permission so that web server process can change the directory.

  • To change ownership of the directory, use chown:

    chown -R user-id:group-id /path/to/the/directory

  • To see which user own the web server process (change httpd accordingly):

    ps aux | grep httpd | grep -v grep

    OR

    ps -efl | grep httpd | grep -v grep

How to call a MySQL stored procedure from within PHP code?

This is my solution with prepared statements and stored procedure is returning several rows not only one value.

<?php

require 'config.php';
header('Content-type:application/json');
$connection->set_charset('utf8');

$mIds = $_GET['ids'];

$stmt = $connection->prepare("CALL sp_takes_string_returns_table(?)");
$stmt->bind_param("s", $mIds);

$stmt->execute();

$result = $stmt->get_result();
$response = $result->fetch_all(MYSQLI_ASSOC);
echo json_encode($response);

$stmt->close();
$connection->close();

Using grep to search for hex strings in a file

We tried several things before arriving at an acceptable solution:

xxd -u /usr/bin/xxd | grep 'DF'
00017b0: 4010 8D05 0DFF FF0A 0300 53E3 0610 A003  @.........S.....

root# grep -ibH "df" /usr/bin/xxd
Binary file /usr/bin/xxd matches
xxd -u /usr/bin/xxd | grep -H 'DF'
(standard input):00017b0: 4010 8D05 0DFF FF0A 0300 53E3 0610 A003  @.........S.....

Then found we could get usable results with

xxd -u /usr/bin/xxd > /tmp/xxd.hex ; grep -H 'DF' /tmp/xxd

Note that using a simple search target like 'DF' will incorrectly match characters that span across byte boundaries, i.e.

xxd -u /usr/bin/xxd | grep 'DF'
00017b0: 4010 8D05 0DFF FF0A 0300 53E3 0610 A003  @.........S.....
--------------------^^

So we use an ORed regexp to search for ' DF' OR 'DF ' (the searchTarget preceded or followed by a space char).

The final result seems to be

xxd -u -ps -c 10000000000 DumpFile > DumpFile.hex
egrep ' DF|DF ' Dumpfile.hex

0001020: 0089 0424 8D95 D8F5 FFFF 89F0 E8DF F6FF  ...$............
-----------------------------------------^^
0001220: 0C24 E871 0B00 0083 F8FF 89C3 0F84 DF03  .$.q............

Multiple inputs with same name through POST in php

In your html you can pass in an array for the name i.e

<input type="text" name="address[]" />

This way php will receive an array of addresses.

Summarizing count and conditional aggregate functions on the same factor

Assuming that your original dataset is similar to the one you created (i.e. with NA as character. You could specify na.strings while reading the data using read.table. But, I guess NAs would be detected automatically.

The price column is factor which needs to be converted to numeric class. When you use as.numeric, all the non-numeric elements (i.e. "NA", FALSE) gets coerced to NA) with a warning.

library(dplyr)
df %>%
     mutate(price=as.numeric(as.character(price))) %>%
     group_by(company, year, product) %>%
     summarise(total.count=n(),
               count=sum(is.na(price)),
               avg.price=mean(price,na.rm=TRUE),
               max.price=max(price, na.rm=TRUE))

data

I am using the same dataset (except the ... row) that was showed.

df = tbl_df(data.frame(company=c("Acme", "Meca", "Emca", "Acme", "Meca","Emca"),
 year=c("2011", "2010", "2009", "2011", "2010", "2013"), product=c("Wrench", "Hammer",
 "Sonic Screwdriver", "Fairy Dust", "Kindness", "Helping Hand"), price=c("5.67",
 "7.12", "12.99", "10.99", "NA",FALSE)))

Where is body in a nodejs http.get response?

A portion of Coffee here:

# My little helper
read_buffer = (buffer, callback) ->
  data = ''
  buffer.on 'readable', -> data += buffer.read().toString()
  buffer.on 'end', -> callback data

# So request looks like
http.get 'http://i.want.some/stuff', (res) ->
  read_buffer res, (response) ->
    # Do some things with your response

    eval(CoffeeScript.compile response, bare: true)

And compiled

var read_buffer;

read_buffer = function(buffer, callback) {
  var data;
  data = '';
  buffer.on('readable', function() {
    return data += buffer.read().toString();
  });
  return buffer.on('end', function() {
    return callback(data);
  });
};

http.get('http://i.want.some/stuff', function(res) {
  return read_buffer(res, function(response) {
    return eval(CoffeeScript.compile(response, {
      bare: true
    }));
  });
});

postgres: upgrade a user to be a superuser?

To expand on the above and make a quick reference:

  • To make a user a SuperUser: ALTER USER username WITH SUPERUSER;
  • To make a user no longer a SuperUser: ALTER USER username WITH NOSUPERUSER;
  • To just allow the user to create a database: ALTER USER username CREATEDB;

You can also use CREATEROLE and CREATEUSER to allow a user privileges without making them a superuser.

Is there a way to set background-image as a base64 encoded image?

Had the same problem with base64. For anyone in the future with the same problem:

url = "data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAAAAAAyCAYAAAAUYybjAAAgAElE...";

This would work executed from console, but not from within a script:

$img.css("background-image", "url('" + url + "')");

But after playing with it a bit, I came up with this:

var img = new Image();
img.src = url;
$img.css("background-image", "url('" + img.src + "')");

No idea why it works with a proxy image, but it does. Tested on Firefox Dev 37 and Chrome 40.

Hope it helps someone.

EDIT

Investigated a little bit further. It appears that sometimes base64 encoding (at least in my case) breaks with CSS because of line breaks present in the encoded value (in my case value was generated dynamically by ActionScript).

Simply using e.g.:

$img.css("background-image", "url('" + url.replace(/(\r\n|\n|\r)/gm, "") + "')");

works too, and even seems to be faster by a few ms than using a proxy image.

Specifying onClick event type with Typescript and React.Konva

As posted in my update above, a potential solution would be to use Declaration Merging as suggested by @Tyler-sebastion. I was able to define two additional interfaces and add the index property on the EventTarget in this way.

interface KonvaTextEventTarget extends EventTarget {
  index: number
}

interface KonvaMouseEvent extends React.MouseEvent<HTMLElement> {
  target: KonvaTextEventTarget
}

I then can declare the event as KonvaMouseEvent in my onclick MouseEventHandler function.

onClick={(event: KonvaMouseEvent) => {
          makeMove(ownMark, event.target.index)
}}

I'm still not 100% if this is the best approach as it feels a bit Kludgy and overly verbose just to get past the tslint error.

How to change heatmap.2 color range in R?

I got the color range to be asymmetric simply by changing the symkey argument to FALSE

symm=F,symkey=F,symbreaks=T, scale="none"

Solved the color issue with colorRampPalette with the breaks argument to specify the range of each color, e.g.

colors = c(seq(-3,-2,length=100),seq(-2,0.5,length=100),seq(0.5,6,length=100))

my_palette <- colorRampPalette(c("red", "black", "green"))(n = 299)

Altogether

heatmap.2(as.matrix(SeqCountTable), col=my_palette,
    breaks=colors, density.info="none", trace="none",
        dendrogram=c("row"), symm=F,symkey=F,symbreaks=T, scale="none")

Switch statement for greater-than/less-than

This is another option:

     switch (true) {
         case (value > 100):
             //do stuff
             break;
         case (value <= 100)&&(value > 75):
             //do stuff
             break;
         case (value < 50):
            //do stuff
             break;

How to get the android Path string to a file on Assets folder?

AFAIK the files in the assets directory don't get unpacked. Instead, they are read directly from the APK (ZIP) file.

So, you really can't make stuff that expects a file accept an asset 'file'.

Instead, you'll have to extract the asset and write it to a seperate file, like Dumitru suggests:

  File f = new File(getCacheDir()+"/m1.map");
  if (!f.exists()) try {

    InputStream is = getAssets().open("m1.map");
    int size = is.available();
    byte[] buffer = new byte[size];
    is.read(buffer);
    is.close();

    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(f);
    fos.write(buffer);
    fos.close();
  } catch (Exception e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); }

  mapView.setMapFile(f.getPath());

How do I serialize a C# anonymous type to a JSON string?

Please note this is from 2008. Today I would argue that the serializer should be built in and that you can probably use swagger + attributes to inform consumers about your endpoint and return data.

Iwould argue that you shouldn't be serializing an anonymous type. I know the temptation here; you want to quickly generate some throw-away types that are just going to be used in a loosely type environment aka Javascript in the browser. Still, I would create an actual type and decorate it as Serializable. Then you can strongly type your web methods. While this doesn't matter one iota for Javascript, it does add some self-documentation to the method. Any reasonably experienced programmer will be able to look at the function signature and say, "Oh, this is type Foo! I know how that should look in JSON."

Having said that, you might try JSON.Net to do the serialization. I have no idea if it will work

How to save and load numpy.array() data properly?

For a short answer you should use np.save and np.load. The advantages of these is that they are made by developers of the numpy library and they already work (plus are likely already optimized nicely) e.g.

import numpy as np
from pathlib import Path

path = Path('~/data/tmp/').expanduser()
path.mkdir(parents=True, exist_ok=True)

lb,ub = -1,1
num_samples = 5
x = np.random.uniform(low=lb,high=ub,size=(1,num_samples))
y = x**2 + x + 2

np.save(path/'x', x)
np.save(path/'y', y)

x_loaded = np.load(path/'x.npy')
y_load = np.load(path/'y.npy')

print(x is x_loaded) # False
print(x == x_loaded) # [[ True  True  True  True  True]]

Expanded answer:

In the end it really depends in your needs because you can also save it human readable format (see this Dump a NumPy array into a csv file) or even with other libraries if your files are extremely large (see this best way to preserve numpy arrays on disk for an expanded discussion).

However, (making an expansion since you use the word "properly" in your question) I still think using the numpy function out of the box (and most code!) most likely satisfy most user needs. The most important reason is that it already works. Trying to use something else for any other reason might take you on an unexpectedly LONG rabbit hole to figure out why it doesn't work and force it work.

Take for example trying to save it with pickle. I tried that just for fun and it took me at least 30 minutes to realize that pickle wouldn't save my stuff unless I opened & read the file in bytes mode with wb. Took time to google, try thing, understand the error message etc... Small detail but the fact that it already required me to open a file complicated things in unexpected ways. To add that it required me to re-read this (which btw is sort of confusing) Difference between modes a, a+, w, w+, and r+ in built-in open function?.

So if there is an interface that meets your needs use it unless you have a (very) good reason (e.g. compatibility with matlab or for some reason your really want to read the file and printing in python really doesn't meet your needs, which might be questionable). Furthermore, most likely if you need to optimize it you'll find out later down the line (rather than spend ages debugging useless stuff like opening a simple numpy file).

So use the interface/numpy provide. It might not be perfect it's most likely fine, especially for a library that's been around as long as numpy.

I already spent the saving and loading data with numpy in a bunch of way so have fun with it, hope it helps!

import numpy as np
import pickle
from pathlib import Path

path = Path('~/data/tmp/').expanduser()
path.mkdir(parents=True, exist_ok=True)

lb,ub = -1,1
num_samples = 5
x = np.random.uniform(low=lb,high=ub,size=(1,num_samples))
y = x**2 + x + 2

# using save (to npy), savez (to npz)
np.save(path/'x', x)
np.save(path/'y', y)
np.savez(path/'db', x=x, y=y)
with open(path/'db.pkl', 'wb') as db_file:
    pickle.dump(obj={'x':x, 'y':y}, file=db_file)

## using loading npy, npz files
x_loaded = np.load(path/'x.npy')
y_load = np.load(path/'y.npy')
db = np.load(path/'db.npz')
with open(path/'db.pkl', 'rb') as db_file:
    db_pkl = pickle.load(db_file)

print(x is x_loaded)
print(x == x_loaded)
print(x == db['x'])
print(x == db_pkl['x'])
print('done')

Some comments on what I learned:

  • np.save as expected, this already compresses it well (see https://stackoverflow.com/a/55750128/1601580), works out of the box without any file opening. Clean. Easy. Efficient. Use it.
  • np.savez uses a uncompressed format (see docs) Save several arrays into a single file in uncompressed .npz format. If you decide to use this (you were warned to go away from the standard solution so expect bugs!) you might discover that you need to use argument names to save it, unless you want to use the default names. So don't use this if the first already works (or any works use that!)
  • Pickle also allows for arbitrary code execution. Some people might not want to use this for security reasons.
  • human readable files are expensive to make etc. Probably not worth it.
  • there is something called hdf5 for large files. Cool! https://stackoverflow.com/a/9619713/1601580

Border around tr element doesn't show?

Add this to the stylesheet:

The reason why it behaves this way is actually described pretty well in the specification:

There are two distinct models for setting borders on table cells in CSS. One is most suitable for so-called separated borders around individual cells, the other is suitable for borders that are continuous from one end of the table to the other.

... and later, for collapse setting:

In the collapsing border model, it is possible to specify borders that surround all or part of a cell, row, row group, column, and column group.

Array String Declaration

As Tr?n Si Long suggested, use

String[] mStrings = new String[title.length];

And replace string concatation with proper parenthesis.

mStrings[i] = (urlbase + (title[i].replaceAll("[^a-zA-Z]", ""))).toLowerCase() + imgSel;

Try this. If it's problem due to concatation, it will be resolved with proper brackets. Hope it helps.

alias glist='for ref in $(git for-each-ref --sort=-committerdate --format="%(refname)" refs/heads/ refs/remotes ); do git log -n1 $ref --pretty=format:"%Cgreen%cr%Creset %C(yellow)%d%Creset %C(bold blue)<%an>%Creset%n" | cat ; done | awk '"'! a["'$0'"]++'"

How to check if a table exists in a given schema

For PostgreSQL 9.3 or less...Or who likes all normalized to text

Three flavors of my old SwissKnife library: relname_exists(anyThing), relname_normalized(anyThing) and relnamechecked_to_array(anyThing). All checks from pg_catalog.pg_class table, and returns standard universal datatypes (boolean, text or text[]).

Display special characters when using print statement

Do you merely want to print the string that way, or do you want that to be the internal representation of the string? If the latter, create it as a raw string by prefixing it with r: r"Hello\tWorld\nHello World".

>>> a = r"Hello\tWorld\nHello World"
>>> a # in the interpreter, this calls repr()
'Hello\\tWorld\\nHello World'
>>> print a
Hello\tWorld\nHello World

Also, \s is not an escape character, except in regular expressions, and then it still has a much different meaning than what you're using it for.

JAVA_HOME directory in Linux

echo $JAVA_HOME will print the value if it's set. However, if you didn't set it manually in your startup scripts, it probably isn't set.

If you try which java and it doesn't find anything, Java may not be installed on your machine, or at least isn't in your path. Depending on which Linux distribution you have and whether or not you have root access, you can go to http://www.java.com to download the version you need. Then, you can set JAVA_HOME to point to this directory. Remember, that this is just a convention and shouldn't be used to determine if java is installed or not.

how to kill the tty in unix

The simplest way is with the pkill command. In your case:

pkill -9 -t pts/6
pkill -9 -t pts/9
pkill -9 -t pts/10

Regarding tty sessions, the commands below are always useful:

w - shows active terminal sessions

tty - shows your current terminal session (so you won't close it by accident)

last | grep logged - shows currently logged users

Sometimes we want to close all sessions of an idle user (ie. when connections are lost abruptly).

pkill -u username - kills all sessions of 'username' user.

And sometimes when we want to kill all our own sessions except the current one, so I made a script for it. There are some cosmetics and some interactivity (to avoid accidental running on the script).

#!/bin/bash
MYUSER=`whoami`
MYSESSION=`tty | cut -d"/" -f3-`
OTHERSESSIONS=`w $MYUSER | grep "^$MYUSER" | grep -v "$MYSESSION" | cut -d" " -f2`
printf "\e[33mCurrent session\e[0m: $MYUSER[$MYSESSION]\n"

if [[ ! -z $OTHERSESSIONS ]]; then
  printf "\e[33mOther sessions:\e[0m\n"
  w $MYUSER | egrep "LOGIN@|^$MYUSER" | grep -v "$MYSESSION" | column -t
  echo ----------
  read -p "Do you want to force close all your other sessions? [Y]Yes/[N]No: " answer
  answer=`echo $answer | tr A-Z a-z`
  confirm=("y" "yes")

  if [[ "${confirm[@]}" =~ "$answer" ]]; then
  for SESSION in $OTHERSESSIONS
    do
         pkill -9 -t $SESSION
         echo Session $SESSION closed.
    done
  fi
else
        echo "There are no other sessions for the user '$MYUSER'".

Convert a Unicode string to an escaped ASCII string

To store actual Unicode codepoints, you have to first decode the String's UTF-16 codeunits to UTF-32 codeunits (which are currently the same as the Unicode codepoints). Use System.Text.Encoding.UTF32.GetBytes() for that, and then write the resulting bytes to the StringBuilder as needed,i.e.

static void Main(string[] args)
{
    String originalString = "This string contains the unicode character Pi(p)";
    Byte[] bytes = Encoding.UTF32.GetBytes(originalString);
    StringBuilder asAscii = new StringBuilder();
    for (int idx = 0; idx < bytes.Length; idx += 4)
    {
        uint codepoint = BitConverter.ToUInt32(bytes, idx);
        if (codepoint <= 127)
            asAscii.Append(Convert.ToChar(codepoint));
        else
            asAscii.AppendFormat("\\u{0:x4}", codepoint);
    }
    Console.WriteLine("Final string: {0}", asAscii);
    Console.ReadKey();
}

How to search contents of multiple pdf files?

There is another utility called ripgrep-all, which is based on ripgrep.

It can handle more than just PDF documents, like Office documents and movies, and the author claims it is faster than pdfgrep.

Command syntax for recursively searching the current directory, and the second one limits to PDF files only:

rga 'pattern' .
rga --type pdf 'pattern' .

Android Studio : Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK]

Similar to a few posts prior - I went to SDK Manager and uninstalled v20 and version L. Then I installed version 19 and this problem was resolved and I could debug using my android device, no errors.

Why does this CSS margin-top style not work?

What @BoltClock mentioned are pretty solid. And Here I just want to add several more solutions for this problem. check this w3c_collapsing margin. The green parts are the potential thought how this problem can be solved.

Solution 1

Margins between a floated box and any other box do not collapse (not even between a float and its in-flow children).

that means I can add float:left to either #outer or #inner demo1.

also notice that float would invalidate the auto in margin.

Solution 2

Margins of elements that establish new block formatting contexts (such as floats and elements with 'overflow' other than 'visible') do not collapse with their in-flow children.

other than visible, let's put overflow: hidden into #outer. And this way seems pretty simple and decent. I like it.

#outer{
    width: 500px;
    height: 200px;
    background: #FFCCCC;
    margin: 50px auto;
    overflow: hidden;
}
#inner {
    background: #FFCC33;
    height: 50px;
    margin: 50px;
}

Solution 3

Margins of absolutely positioned boxes do not collapse (not even with their in-flow children).

#outer{
    width: 500px;
    height: 200px;
    background: #FFCCCC;
    margin: 50px auto;
    position: absolute;
}
#inner{
    background: #FFCC33;
    height: 50px;
    margin: 50px;
}

or

#outer{
    width: 500px;
    height: 200px;
    background: #FFCCCC;
    margin: 50px auto;
    position: relative;
}
#inner {
    background: #FFCC33;
    height: 50px;
    margin: 50px;
    position: absolute;
}

these two methods will break the normal flow of div

Solution 4

Margins of inline-block boxes do not collapse (not even with their in-flow children).

is the same as @enderskill

Solution 5

The bottom margin of an in-flow block-level element always collapses with the top margin of its next in-flow block-level sibling, unless that sibling has clearance.

This has not much work to do with the question since it is the collapsing margin between siblings. it generally means if a top-box has margin-bottom: 30px and a sibling-box has margin-top: 10px. The total margin between them is 30px instead of 40px.

Solution 6

The top margin of an in-flow block element collapses with its first in-flow block-level child's top margin if the element has no top border, no top padding, and the child has no clearance.

This is very interesting and I can just add one top border line

#outer{
    width: 500px;
    height: 200px;
    background: #FFCCCC;
    margin: 50px auto;
    border-top: 1px solid red;

}
#inner {
    background: #FFCC33;
    height: 50px;
    margin: 50px;

}

And Also <div> is block-level in default, so you don't have to declare it on purpose. Sorry for not being able to post more than 2 links and images due to my novice reputation. At least you know where the problem comes from next time you see something similar.

Mockito. Verify method arguments

I have used Mockito.verify in this way

@UnitTest
public class JUnitServiceTest
{
    @Mock
    private MyCustomService myCustomService;

    @Test
    public void testVerifyMethod()
    {
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.never()).mymethod(parameters); // method will never call (an alternative can be pick to use times(0))
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.times(2)).mymethod(parameters); // method will call for 2 times
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.atLeastOnce()).mymethod(parameters); // method will call atleast 1 time
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.atLeast(2)).mymethod(parameters); // method will call atleast 2 times
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.atMost(3)).mymethod(parameters); // method will call at most 3 times
       Mockito.verify(myCustomService, Mockito.only()).mymethod(parameters); // no other method called except this
    }
}

ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. But the DLL's are there

I got this error when trying to import MySQLdb.

What worked for me was to uninstall Python and then reinstall it.

I got the error after installing npm (https://www.npmjs.com/get-npm). One thing it did was install Python even though I already had it.

base 64 encode and decode a string in angular (2+)

Use the btoa() function to encode:

_x000D_
_x000D_
console.log(btoa("password")); // cGFzc3dvcmQ=
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

To decode, you can use the atob() function:

_x000D_
_x000D_
console.log(atob("cGFzc3dvcmQ=")); // password
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

After trying everything, Yowsup library worked for me. The bug that I was facing was recently fixed. Anyone trying to do something with Whatsapp should try it.

Determine if two rectangles overlap each other?

bool Square::IsOverlappig(Square &other)

One time page refresh after first page load

When I meet this problem, I search to here but most of answers are trying to modify existing url. Here is another answer which works for me using localStorage.

<script type='text/javascript'>

(function()
{
  if( window.localStorage )
  {
    if( !localStorage.getItem('firstLoad') )
    {
      localStorage['firstLoad'] = true;
      window.location.reload();
    }
    else
      localStorage.removeItem('firstLoad');
  }
})();

</script>

How do I set GIT_SSL_NO_VERIFY for specific repos only?

You can do

git config http.sslVerify "false"

in your specific repo to disable SSL certificate checking for that repo only.

How can I change the user on Git Bash?

For any OS

This helped me so I'll put it here, just in case. Once you are done with adding the rsa keys for both the accounts, add a config file in your .ssh directory for both the accounts (.ssh/config)

# First account
Host github.com-<FIRST_ACCOUNT_USERNAME_HERE>
   HostName github.com
   User git
   IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa_user1

# Second account
Host github.com-<SECOND_ACCOUNT_USERNAME_HERE>
   HostName github.com
   User git
   IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa_user2

Make sure you use the correct usernames and RSA files. Next, you can open the terminal/git bash on the repository root and check which account you would be pushing from

git config user.email

Suppose this returns the first user email and you want to push from the second user. Change the local user.name and user.email :

git config user.name "SECOND_USER"
git config user.email "[email protected]"

(This won't change the global config and you can have the first user set up as the global user). Once done, you can confirm with git config user.email and it should return the email of the second user. You're all set to push to GitHub with the second user. The rest is all the same old git add , git commit and git push. To push from the first user, change the local user.name again and follow the same steps. Hope it helps :)

If the above steps are still not working for you, check to see if you have uploaded the RSA keys within GitHub portal. Refer to GitHub documentation:

Then, clear your ssh cached keys Reference

ssh-add -D

Then add you 2 ssh keys

ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa_user1
ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa_user2

Then type in your terminal:

ssh -T [email protected]<SECOND_ACCOUNT_USERNAME_HERE>

You should see the following output:

Hi <SECOND_USERNAME>! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access.

Then, assign the correct remote to your local repository. Make sure you put the same username as the one you gave in your .ssh/config file next to Host. In the following case [email protected]<SECOND_ACCOUNT_USERNAME_HERE>.

git remote rm origin
git remote add origin [email protected]<SECOND_ACCOUNT_USERNAME_HERE>:/your_username/your_repository.git

How to resolve this System.IO.FileNotFoundException

I came across a similar situation after publishing a ClickOnce application, and one of my colleagues on a different domain reported that it fails to launch.

To find out what was going on, I added a try catch statement inside the MainWindow method as @BradleyDotNET mentioned in one comment on the original post, and then published again.

public MainWindow()
{
    try
    {
        InitializeComponent();
    }
    catch (Exception exc)
    {
        MessageBox.Show(exc.ToString());
    }
}

Then my colleague reported to me the exception detail, and it was a missing reference of a third party framework dll file.

Added the reference and problem solved.

How to disable an input box using angular.js

I created a directive for this (angular stable 1.0.8)

<input type="text" input-disabled="editableInput" />
<button ng-click="editableInput = !editableInput">enable/disable</button>

app.controller("myController", function(){
  $scope.editableInput = false;
});

app.directive("inputDisabled", function(){
  return function(scope, element, attrs){
    scope.$watch(attrs.inputDisabled, function(val){
      if(val)
        element.removeAttr("disabled");
      else
        element.attr("disabled", "disabled");
    });
  }
});

pyplot axes labels for subplots

You can create a big subplot that covers the two subplots and then set the common labels.

import random
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

x = range(1, 101)
y1 = [random.randint(1, 100) for _ in range(len(x))]
y2 = [random.randint(1, 100) for _ in range(len(x))]

fig = plt.figure()
ax = fig.add_subplot(111)    # The big subplot
ax1 = fig.add_subplot(211)
ax2 = fig.add_subplot(212)

# Turn off axis lines and ticks of the big subplot
ax.spines['top'].set_color('none')
ax.spines['bottom'].set_color('none')
ax.spines['left'].set_color('none')
ax.spines['right'].set_color('none')
ax.tick_params(labelcolor='w', top=False, bottom=False, left=False, right=False)

ax1.loglog(x, y1)
ax2.loglog(x, y2)

# Set common labels
ax.set_xlabel('common xlabel')
ax.set_ylabel('common ylabel')

ax1.set_title('ax1 title')
ax2.set_title('ax2 title')

plt.savefig('common_labels.png', dpi=300)

common_labels.png

Another way is using fig.text() to set the locations of the common labels directly.

import random
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

x = range(1, 101)
y1 = [random.randint(1, 100) for _ in range(len(x))]
y2 = [random.randint(1, 100) for _ in range(len(x))]

fig = plt.figure()
ax1 = fig.add_subplot(211)
ax2 = fig.add_subplot(212)

ax1.loglog(x, y1)
ax2.loglog(x, y2)

# Set common labels
fig.text(0.5, 0.04, 'common xlabel', ha='center', va='center')
fig.text(0.06, 0.5, 'common ylabel', ha='center', va='center', rotation='vertical')

ax1.set_title('ax1 title')
ax2.set_title('ax2 title')

plt.savefig('common_labels_text.png', dpi=300)

common_labels_text.png

Set scroll position

Note that if you want to scroll an element instead of the full window, elements don't have the scrollTo and scrollBy methods. You should:

var el = document.getElementById("myel"); // Or whatever method to get the element

// To set the scroll
el.scrollTop = 0;
el.scrollLeft = 0;

// To increment the scroll
el.scrollTop += 100;
el.scrollLeft += 100;

You can also mimic the window.scrollTo and window.scrollBy functions to all the existant HTML elements in the webpage on browsers that don't support it natively:

Object.defineProperty(HTMLElement.prototype, "scrollTo", {
    value: function(x, y) {
        el.scrollTop = y;
        el.scrollLeft = x;
    },
    enumerable: false
});

Object.defineProperty(HTMLElement.prototype, "scrollBy", {
    value: function(x, y) {
        el.scrollTop += y;
        el.scrollLeft += x;
    },
    enumerable: false
});

so you can do:

var el = document.getElementById("myel"); // Or whatever method to get the element, again

// To set the scroll
el.scrollTo(0, 0);

// To increment the scroll
el.scrollBy(100, 100);

NOTE: Object.defineProperty is encouraged, as directly adding properties to the prototype is a breaking bad habit (When you see it :-).

How to set up file permissions for Laravel?

I'd do it like this:

sudo chown -R $USER:www-data laravel-project/

find laravel-project/ -type f -exec chmod 664 {} \;

find laravel-project/ -type d -exec chmod 775 {} \;

then finally, you need to give webserver permission to modify the storage and bootstrap/cache directories:

sudo chgrp -R www-data storage bootstrap/cache
sudo chmod -R ug+rwx storage bootstrap/cache

jquery onclick change css background image

I think this should be:

$('.home').click(function() {
     $(this).css('background', 'url(images/tabs3.png)');
 });

and remove this:

<div class="home" onclick="function()">
     //-----------^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^---------no need for this

You have to make sure you have a correct path to your image.

How do I call a non-static method from a static method in C#?

Perhaps what you are looking for is the Singleton pattern?

public class Singleton
{
    private Singleton() {}

    public void DoWork()
    {
        // do something
    }

    // You can call this static method which calls the singleton instance method.
    public static void DoSomeWork()
    {
        Instance.DoWork();
    }

    public static Singleton Instance
    {
        get { return instance; }
    }

    private static Singleton instance = new Singleton();
}

You still have to create an instance of the class but you ensure there is only one instance.

How to insert new row to database with AUTO_INCREMENT column without specifying column names?

Even better, use DEFAULT instead of NULL. You want to store the default value, not a NULL that might trigger a default value.

But you'd better name all columns, with a piece of SQL you can create all the INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE's you need. Just check the information_schema and construct the queries you need. There is no need to do it all by hand, SQL can help you out.

Mixing C# & VB In The Same Project

Right-click the Project. Choose Add Asp.Net Folder. Under The Folder, create two folders one named VBCodeFiles and the Other CSCodeFiles In Web.Config add a new element under compilation

<compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.5.1">
      <codeSubDirectories>
        <add directoryName="VBCodeFiles"/>
        <add directoryName="CSCodeFiles"/>
      </codeSubDirectories>
</compilation>

Now, Create an cshtml page. Add a reference to the VBCodeFiles.Namespace.MyClassName using

@using DMH.VBCodeFiles.Utils.RCMHD
@model MyClassname

Where MyClassName is an class object found in the namespace above. now write out the object in razor using a cshtml file.

<p>@Model.FirstName</p>

Please note, the directoryName="CSCodeFiles" is redundant if this is a C# Project and the directoryName="VBCodeFiles" is redundant if this is a VB.Net project.

How do I import a namespace in Razor View Page?

The first way is that use @using statement in .cshtml files, that imports a namespace to current file only, and the second:

In the "web.config" file in "Views" directory of your project (notice it is not the main web.config in project's root), find this section:

<system.web.webPages.razor>
  <pages pageBaseType="System.Web.Mvc.WebViewPage">
    <namespaces>
      <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc" />
      <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Ajax" />
      .
      .
      <!-- etc -->
    </namespaces>
  </pages>
</system.web.webPages.razor>

you can add your custom namespace like this:

<add namespace="My.Custom" />

that will add the namespace to all of .cshtml (and/or .vbhtml) files; also you can change views inheritance from here, like:

<pages pageBaseType="My.Custom.MyWebViewPage">

Regards.

UPDATE: Thanks to @Nick Silberstein to his reminder about areas! He said:

If you're working within an area, you must add the namespace within the Web.config under /Areas/<AreaName>/Views/ rather than /Views/

How to get jQuery to wait until an effect is finished?

With jQuery 1.6 version you can use the .promise() method.

$(selector).fadeOut('slow');
$(selector).promise().done(function(){
    // will be called when all the animations on the queue finish
});

MySQL joins and COUNT(*) from another table

Your groups_main table has a key column named id. I believe you can only use the USING syntax for the join if the groups_fans table has a key column with the same name, which it probably does not. So instead, try this:

LEFT JOIN groups_fans AS m ON m.group_id = g.id

Or replace group_id with whatever the appropriate column name is in the groups_fans table.

How to set width of mat-table column in angular?

As i have implemented, and it is working fine. you just need to add column width using matColumnDef="description"

for example :

<mat-table #table [dataSource]="dataSource" matSortDisableClear>
    <ng-container matColumnDef="productId">
        <mat-header-cell *matHeaderCellDef>product ID</mat-header-cell>
        <mat-cell *matCellDef="let product">{{product.id}}</mat-cell>
    </ng-container>
    <ng-container matColumnDef="productName">
        <mat-header-cell *matHeaderCellDef>Name</mat-header-cell>
        <mat-cell *matCellDef="let product">{{product.name}}</mat-cell>
    </ng-container>
    <ng-container matColumnDef="actions">
        <mat-header-cell *matHeaderCellDef>Actions</mat-header-cell>
        <mat-cell *matCellDef="let product">
            <button (click)="view(product)">
                <mat-icon>visibility</mat-icon>
            </button>
        </mat-cell>
    </ng-container>
    <mat-header-row *matHeaderRowDef="displayedColumns"></mat-header-row>
    <mat-row *matRowDef="let row; columns: displayedColumns"></mat-row>
</mat-table>

here matColumnDef is productId, productName and action

now we apply width by matColumnDef

styling

.mat-column-productId {
    flex: 0 0 10%;
}

Resolving javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed Error?

I want to chime in since I have a QEMU environment where I have to download files in java. It turns out the /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts in QEMU does have problem because it does not match the /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts in the host environment. The host environment is behind a company proxy so the java cacerts is a customized version.

If you are using a QEMU environment, make sure the host system can access files first. For example you can try this script on your host machine first to see. If the script runs just fine in host machine but not in QEMU, then you are having the same problem as me.

To solve this issue, I had to make a backup of the original file in QEMU, copy over the file in host environment to the QEMU chroot jail, and then java could download files normally in QEMU.

A better solution would be mount the /etc into the QEMU environment; however I am not sure if other files will get impacted in this process. So I decided to use this ugly but easy work-around.

What is the IntelliJ shortcut key to create a javadoc comment?

Typing /** + then pressing Enter above a method signature will create Javadoc stubs for you.

Toggle visibility property of div

There is another way of doing this with just JavaScript. All you have to do is toggle the visibility based on the current state of the DIV's visibility in CSS.

Example:

function toggleVideo() {
     var e = document.getElementById('video-over');

     if(e.style.visibility == 'visible') {
          e.style.visibility = 'hidden';
     } else if(e.style.visibility == 'hidden') {
          e.style.visibility = 'visible';
     }
}

How can I disable a button in a jQuery dialog from a function?

If anybody is looking to replace a button with something like a loading animation when clicked (for example when a "Submit" button submits the form in the dialog) - you can replace the button with your image like this:

...
buttons: {
    "Submit": function(evt) {
        $(evt.target).closest('button').replaceWith('<img src="loading.gif">');
    }
}

SELECT * FROM in MySQLi

"SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE field1 = 'value' && field2 = 'value2'";

becomes

"SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE field1 = ? && field2 = ?";

which is passed to the $mysqli::prepare:

$stmt = $mysqli->prepare(
  "SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE field1 = ? && field2 = ?");
$stmt->bind_param( "ss", $value, $value2);
// "ss' is a format string, each "s" means string
$stmt->execute();

$stmt->bind_result($col1, $col2);
// then fetch and close the statement

OP comments:

so if i have 5 parameters, i could potentially have "sssis" or something (depending on the types of inputs?)

Right, one type specifier per ? parameter in the prepared statement, all of them positional (first specifier applies to first ? which is replaced by first actual parameter (which is the second parameter to bind_param)).

mysqli will take care of escaping and quoting (I think).

fopen deprecated warning

This is just Microsoft being cheeky. "Deprecated" implies a language feature that may not be provided in future versions of the standard language / standard libraries, as decreed by the standards committee. It does not, or should not mean, "we, unilaterally, don't think you should use it", no matter how well-founded that advice is.

Using CSS to align a button bottom of the screen using relative positions

The below css code always keep the button at the bottom of the page

position:absolute;
bottom:0;

Since you want to do it in relative positioning, you should go for margin-top:100%

position:relative;
margin-top:100%;

EDIT1: JSFiddle1

EDIT2: To place button at center of the screen,

position:relative;
left: 50%;
margin-top:50%;

Multiple distinct pages in one HTML file

Well, you could, but you probably just want to have two sets of content in the same page, and switch between them. Example:

_x000D_
_x000D_
    <html>
    <head>
    <script>
    function show(shown, hidden) {
      document.getElementById(shown).style.display='block';
      document.getElementById(hidden).style.display='none';
      return false;
    }
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>

      <div id="Page1">
        Content of page 1
        <a href="#" onclick="return show('Page2','Page1');">Show page 2</a>
      </div>

      <div id="Page2" style="display:none">
        Content of page 2
        <a href="#" onclick="return show('Page1','Page2');">Show page 1</a>
      </div>

    </body>
    </html>

$http.get(...).success is not a function

This might be redundant but the above most voted answer says .then(function (success) and that didn't work for me as of Angular version 1.5.8. Instead use response then inside the block response.data got me my json data I was looking for.

$http({
    method: 'get',
    url: 'data/data.json'
}).then(function (response) {
    console.log(response, 'res');
    data = response.data;
},function (error){
    console.log(error, 'can not get data.');
});

how to load url into div tag

Not using iframes puts you in a world of handling #document security issues with cross domain and links firing unexpected ways that was not intended for originally, do you really need bad Advertisements?

You can use jquery .load function to send the page to whatever html element you want to target, assuming your not getting this from another domain.

You can use javascript .innerHTML value to set and to rewrite the element with whatever you want, but if you add another file you might be writing against 2 documents in 1... like a in another

iframes are old, another way we can add "src" into the html alone without any use for javascript. But it's old, prehistoric, and just plain OLD! Frameset makes it worse because I can put #document in those to handle multiple html files. An Old way people created navigation menu's Long and before people had FLIP phones.

1.) Yes you will have to work in Javascript if you do NOT want to use an Iframe.

2.) There is a good hack in which you can set the domain to equal each other without having to set server stuff around. Means you will have to have edit capabilities of the documents.

3.) javascript window.document is limited to the iframe itself and can NOT go above the iframe if you want to grab something through the DOM itself. Because it treats it like a separate tab, it also defines it in another document object model.

C++ Compare char array with string

your thinking about this program below

#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>

int main ()
{
char str[][5] = { "R2D2" , "C3PO" , "R2A6" };
int n;
puts ("Looking for R2 astromech droids...");
for (n=0 ; n<3 ; n++)
if (strncmp (str[n],"R2xx",2) == 0)
{
  printf ("found %s\n",str[n]);
}
return 0;
}
//outputs:
//
//Looking for R2 astromech droids...
//found R2D2
//found R2A6

when you should be thinking about inputting something into an array & then use strcmp functions like the program above ... check out a modified program below

#include <iostream>
#include<cctype>
#include <string.h>
#include <string>
using namespace std;

int main()
{
int Students=2;
int Projects=3, Avg2=0, Sum2=0, SumT2=0, AvgT2=0, i=0, j=0;
int Grades[Students][Projects];

for(int j=0; j<=Projects-1; j++){
  for(int i=0; i<=Students; i++) {
 cout <<"Please give grade of student "<< j <<"in project "<< i  <<  ":";
  cin >> Grades[j][i];

  }
  Sum2 = Sum2 + Grades[i][j];
     Avg2 = Sum2/Students;
}
SumT2 = SumT2 + Avg2;
AvgT2 = SumT2/Projects;
cout << "avg is  : " << AvgT2 << " and sum : " << SumT2 << ":";
return 0;
}

change to string except it only reads 1 input and throws the rest out maybe need two for loops and two pointers

//string userInput[26];
int i=0, n=0, m=0;

cout<<"Hello "<<name<< endl;

char *ptr=name;
for (i = 0; i < 20; i++)
{
cout<<i<<" "<<ptr[i]<<" "<<(int)ptr[i]<<endl;
}
int length = 0;

                }
cout<<name <<"is"<<length<<"chars long";
}

How to check if a double value has no decimal part

You probably want to round the double to 5 decimals or so before comparing since a double can contain very small decimal parts if you have done some calculations with it.

double d = 10.0;
d /= 3.0; // d should be something like 3.3333333333333333333333...
d *= 3.0; // d is probably something like 9.9999999999999999999999...

// d should be 10.0 again but it is not, so you have to use rounding before comparing

d = myRound(d, 5); // d is something like 10.00000
if (fmod(d, 1.0) == 0)
  // No decimals
else
  // Decimals

If you are using C++ i don't think there is a round-function, so you have to implement it yourself like in: http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/general/4011/

Run cURL commands from Windows console

I was able to use this site to easily download and install curl on my Windows machine. It took all of 30 seconds. I'm using Windows 7 (w/ Admin privelages), so I downloaded curl-7.37.0-win64.msi from http://curl.haxx.se/download.html.

Also, don't forget to restart your console/terminal after you install curl, otherwise you will get the same error messages.

Hadoop/Hive : Loading data from .csv on a local machine

There is another way of enabling this,

  1. use hadoop hdfs -copyFromLocal to copy the .csv data file from your local computer to somewhere in HDFS, say '/path/filename'

  2. enter Hive console, run the following script to load from the file to make it as a Hive table. Note that '\054' is the ascii code of 'comma' in octal number, representing fields delimiter.

CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE table name (foo INT, bar STRING)
 COMMENT 'from csv file'
 ROW FORMAT DELIMITED FIELDS TERMINATED BY '\054'
 STORED AS TEXTFILE
 LOCATION '/path/filename';

PHP send mail to multiple email addresses

The best way could be to save all the emails in a database.

You can try this code, assuming you have your email in a database

/*Your connection to your database comes here*/
$query="select email from yourtable";
$result =mysql_query($query);

/the above code depends on where you saved your email addresses, so make sure you replace it with your parameters/

Then you can make a comma separated string from the result,

while($row=$result->fetch_array()){
        if($rows=='') //this prevents from inserting comma on before the first element
        $rows.=$row['email'];
        else
        $rows.=','.$row['email'];
    }

Now you can use

$to = explode(',',$rows); // to change to array

$string =implode(',',$cc); //to get back the string separated by comma

With above code you can send the email like this

mail($string, "Test", "Hi, Happy X-Mas and New Year");

How to exclude property from Json Serialization

If you are using System.Web.Script.Serialization in the .NET framework you can put a ScriptIgnore attribute on the members that shouldn't be serialized. See the example taken from here:

Consider the following (simplified) case:

public class User {
    public int Id { get; set; }
    public string Name { get; set; }
    [ScriptIgnore]
    public bool IsComplete
    {
        get { return Id > 0 && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(Name); }
    }
}

In this case, only the Id and the Name properties will be serialized, thus the resulting JSON object would look like this:

{ Id: 3, Name: 'Test User' }

PS. Don't forget to add a reference to "System.Web.Extensions" for this to work

JavaScript: Create and destroy class instance through class method

1- There is no way to actually destroy an object in javascript, but using delete, we could remove a reference from an object:

var obj = {};
obj.mypointer = null;
delete obj.mypointer;

2- The important point about the delete keyword is that it does not actually destroy the object BUT if only after deleting that reference to the object, there is no other reference left in the memory pointed to the same object, that object would be marked as collectible. The delete keyword deletes the reference but doesn't GC the actual object. it means if you have several references of the same object, the object will be collected just after you delete all the pointed references.

3- there are also some tricks and workarounds that could help us out, when we want to make sure we do not leave any memory leaks behind. for instance if you have an array consisting several objects, without any other pointed reference to those objects, if you recreate the array all those objects would be killed. For instance if you have var array = [{}, {}] overriding the value of the array like array = [] would remove the references to the two objects inside the array and those two objects would be marked as collectible.

4- for your solution the easiest way is just this:

var storage = {};
storage.instance = new Class();
//since 'storage.instance' is your only reference to the object, whenever you wanted to destroy do this:
storage.instance = null;
// OR
delete storage.instance;

As mentioned above, either setting storage.instance = null or delete storage.instance would suffice to remove the reference to the object and allow it to be cleaned up by the GC. The difference is that if you set it to null then the storage object still has a property called instance (with the value null). If you delete storage.instance then the storage object no longer has a property named instance.

and WHAT ABOUT destroy method ??

the paradoxical point here is if you use instance.destroy in the destroy function you have no access to the actual instance pointer, and it won't let you delete it.

The only way is to pass the reference to the destroy function and then delete it:

// Class constructor
var Class = function () {
     this.destroy = function (baseObject, refName) {
         delete baseObject[refName];
     };
};

// instanciate
var storage = {};
storage.instance = new Class();
storage.instance.destroy(object, "instance");
console.log(storage.instance); // now it is undefined

BUT if I were you I would simply stick to the first solution and delete the object like this:

storage.instance = null;
// OR
delete storage.instance;

WOW it was too much :)

Creating a .p12 file

The openssl documentation says that file supplied as the -in argument must be in PEM format.

Turns out that, contrary to the CA's manual, the certificate returned by the CA which I stored in myCert.cer is not PEM format rather it is PKCS7.

In order to create my .p12, I had to first convert the certificate to PEM:

openssl pkcs7 -in myCert.cer -print_certs -out certs.pem

and then execute

openssl pkcs12 -export -out keyStore.p12 -inkey myKey.pem -in certs.pem

How to set calculation mode to manual when opening an excel file?

The best way around this would be to create an Excel called 'launcher.xlsm' in the same folder as the file you wish to open. In the 'launcher' file put the following code in the 'Workbook' object, but set the constant TargetWBName to be the name of the file you wish to open.

Private Const TargetWBName As String = "myworkbook.xlsx"

'// First, a function to tell us if the workbook is already open...
Function WorkbookOpen(WorkBookName As String) As Boolean
' returns TRUE if the workbook is open
    WorkbookOpen = False
    On Error GoTo WorkBookNotOpen
    If Len(Application.Workbooks(WorkBookName).Name) > 0 Then
        WorkbookOpen = True
        Exit Function
    End If
WorkBookNotOpen:
End Function

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    'Check if our target workbook is open
    If WorkbookOpen(TargetWBName) = False Then
        'set calculation to manual
        Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
        Workbooks.Open ThisWorkbook.Path & "\" & TargetWBName
        DoEvents
        Me.Close False
    End If
End Sub

Set the constant 'TargetWBName' to be the name of the workbook that you wish to open. This code will simply switch calculation to manual, then open the file. The launcher file will then automatically close itself. *NOTE: If you do not wish to be prompted to 'Enable Content' every time you open this file (depending on your security settings) you should temporarily remove the 'me.close' to prevent it from closing itself, save the file and set it to be trusted, and then re-enable the 'me.close' call before saving again. Alternatively, you could just set the False to True after Me.Close

Writing Unicode text to a text file?

The file opened by codecs.open is a file that takes unicode data, encodes it in iso-8859-1 and writes it to the file. However, what you try to write isn't unicode; you take unicode and encode it in iso-8859-1 yourself. That's what the unicode.encode method does, and the result of encoding a unicode string is a bytestring (a str type.)

You should either use normal open() and encode the unicode yourself, or (usually a better idea) use codecs.open() and not encode the data yourself.

How to set editable true/false EditText in Android programmatically?

Fetch the KeyListener value of EditText by editText.getKeyListener() and store in the KeyListener type variable, which will contain the Editable property value:

KeyListener variable;
variable = editText.getKeyListener();

Set the Editable property of EditText to false as:

 edittext.setKeyListener(null);

Now set Editable property of EditText to true as:

editText.setKeyListener(variable);

Note: In XML the default Editable property of EditText should be true.

How do I exit the Vim editor?

If you want to quit without saving in Vim and have Vim return a non-zero exit code, you can use :cq.

I use this all the time because I can't be bothered to pinky shift for !. I often pipe things to Vim which don't need to be saved in a file. We also have an odd SVN wrapper at work which must be exited with a non-zero value in order to abort a checkin.
