Programs & Examples On #Browser tab

How can I get the URL of the current tab from a Google Chrome extension?

Other answers assume you want to know it from a popup or background script.

In case you want to know the current URL from a content script, the standard JS way applies:

window.location.toString()

You can use properties of window.location to access individual parts of the URL, such as host, protocol or path.

How to open link in new tab on html?

Set the 'target' attribute of the link to _blank:

<a href="#" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Link</a>

Edit: for other examples, see here: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp

(Note: I previously suggested blank instead of _blank because, if used, it'll open a new tab and then use the same tab if the link is clicked again. However, this is only because, as GolezTrol pointed out, it refers to the name a of a frame/window, which would be set and used when the link is pressed again to open it in the same tab).

Security Consideration!

The rel="noopener noreferrer" is to prevent the newly opened tab from being able to modify the original tab maliciously. For more information about this vulnerability see these resources:

How to open a link in new tab (chrome) using Selenium WebDriver?

If you can get the link element you can use this. It will also take you to the tab that you have opened.

WebElement link= driver.findElement(By.tagname("a"));
String keyString =   Keys.CONTROL+Keys.SHIFT.toString()+Keys.ENTER.toString());
link.sendKeys(keyString);

How to open a new tab using Selenium WebDriver

driver.findElement(By.cssSelector("body")).sendKeys(Keys.CONTROL +"t");

javascript variable reference/alias

in 2019 I need to write minified jquery plugins so I need it too this alias and so testing these examples and others ,from other sources,I found a way without copy in the memory of whe entire object ,but creating only a reference. I tested this already with firefox and watching task manager's tab memory on firefox before. The code is:

var {p: d} ={p: document};
console.log(d.body);

optional parameters in SQL Server stored proc?

Yes, it is. Declare parameter as so:

@Sort varchar(50) = NULL

Now you don't even have to pass the parameter in. It will default to NULL (or whatever you choose to default to).

How to install Visual C++ Build tools?

I just stumbled onto this issue accessing some Python libraries: Microsoft Visual C++ 14.0 is required. Get it with "Microsoft Visual C++ Build Tools". The latest link to that is actually here: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#build-tools-for-visual-studio-2019

When you begin the installer, it will have several "options" enabled which will balloon the install size to 5gb. If you have Windows 10, you'll need to leave selected the "Windows 10 SDK" option as mentioned here.

I hope it helps save others time!

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near ' '

For the OP's command:

select compid,2, convert(datetime, '01/01/' + CONVERT(char(4),cal_yr) ,101) ,0,  Update_dt, th1, th2, th3_pc , Update_id, Update_dt,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

I get this error:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

when debugging something like this split the long line up so you'll get a better row number:

select compid
,2
, convert(datetime
, '01/01/'
+ CONVERT(char(4)
,cal_yr)
,101)
,0
,  Update_dt
, th1
, th2
, th3_pc
, Update_id
, Update_dt
,1
from  #tmp_CTF**

this now results in:

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 16
Incorrect syntax near '*'.

which is probably just from the OP not putting the entire command in the question, or use [ ] braces to signify the table name:

from [#tmp_CTF**]

if that is the table name.

When would you use the different git merge strategies?

"Resolve" vs "Recursive" merge strategy

Recursive is the current default two-head strategy, but after some searching I finally found some info about the "resolve" merge strategy.

Taken from O'Reilly book Version Control with Git (Amazon) (paraphrased):

Originally, "resolve" was the default strategy for Git merges.

In criss-cross merge situations, where there is more than one possible merge basis, the resolve strategy works like this: pick one of the possible merge bases, and hope for the best. This is actually not as bad as it sounds. It often turns out that the users have been working on different parts of the code. In that case, Git detects that it's remerging some changes that are already in place and skips the duplicate changes, avoiding the conflict. Or, if these are slight changes that do cause conflict, at least the conflict should be easy for the developer to handle..

I have successfully merged trees using "resolve" that failed with the default recursive strategy. I was getting fatal: git write-tree failed to write a tree errors, and thanks to this blog post (mirror) I tried "-s resolve", which worked. I'm still not exactly sure why... but I think it was because I had duplicate changes in both trees, and resolve "skipped" them properly.

Entity Framework is Too Slow. What are my options?

The Entity Framework should not cause major bottlenecks itself. Chances are that there are other causes. You could try to switch EF to Linq2SQL, both have comparing features and the code should be easy to convert but in many cases Linq2SQL is faster than EF.

Java: print contents of text file to screen

Before Java 7:

 BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("foo.txt"));
 String line;
 while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
   System.out.println(line);
 }
  • add exception handling
  • add closing the stream

Since Java 7, there is no need to close the stream, because it implements autocloseable

try (BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("foo.txt"))) {
   String line;
   while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
       System.out.println(line);
   }
}

How to create a Restful web service with input parameters?

        todo.setSummary(varX);
        todo.setDescription(varY);
        return todo;
}

Then call your service with this URL;

How can I fix the Microsoft Visual Studio error: "package did not load correctly"?

You need to find file devenv.exe.config in C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ and update it. (Or C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\, depending on the location of your devenv.exe file.)

For this particular case, you should find rows that setup redirects for System.Collections.Immutable and change newVersion from 1.1.36.0 to 1.1.37.0.

Remove non-ascii character in string

None of these answers properly handle tabs, newlines, carriage returns, and some don't handle extended ASCII and unicode. Open a workbook using FileDialog and manipulate it in Excel VBA

Unless I misunderstand your question, you can just open a file read only. Here is a simply example, without any checks.

To get the file path from the user use this function:

Private Function get_user_specified_filepath() As String
    'or use the other code example here.
    Dim fd As Office.FileDialog
    Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
    fd.AllowMultiSelect = False
    fd.Title = "Please select the file."
    get_user_specified_filepath = fd.SelectedItems(1)
End Function

Then just open the file read only and assign it to a variable:

dim wb as workbook
set wb = Workbooks.Open(get_user_specified_filepath(), ReadOnly:=True)

Error handling in C code

When I write programs, during initialization, I usually spin off a thread for error handling, and initialize a special structure for errors, including a lock. Then, when I detect an error, through return values, I enter in the info from the exception into the structure and send a SIGIO to the exception handling thread, then see if I can't continue execution. If I can't, I send a SIGURG to the exception thread, which stops the program gracefully.

What is the correct way to restore a deleted file from SVN?

I always seem to use svn copy as a server operation so not sure if it works with two working paths.

Here is an example of restoring a deleted file into a local working copy of the project:

svn copy https://repos/project/modules/module.js@3502 modules/module.js

While being inside the project directory. This works as well for restoring entire directories.

Merge commits: retains all of the commits in your branch and interleaves them with commits on the base branchenter image description here

Merge Squash: retains the changes but omits the individual commits from history enter image description here

Rebase: This moves the entire feature branch to begin on the tip of the master branch, effectively incorporating all of the new commits in master

How to make HTML Text unselectable

I altered the jQuery plugin posted above so it would work on live elements.

(function ($) {
$.fn.disableSelection = function () {
    return this.each(function () {
        if (typeof this.onselectstart != 'undefined') {
            this.onselectstart = function() { return false; };
        } else if (typeof this.style.MozUserSelect != 'undefined') {
            this.style.MozUserSelect = 'none';
        } else {
            this.onmousedown = function() { return false; };
        }
    });
};
})(jQuery);

Then you could so something like:

$(document).ready(function() {
    $('label').disableSelection();

    // Or to make everything unselectable
    $('*').disableSelection();
});

How to sleep the thread in node.js without affecting other threads?

In case you have a loop with an async request in each one and you want a certain time between each request you can use this code:

   var startTimeout = function(timeout, i){
        setTimeout(function() {
            myAsyncFunc(i).then(function(data){
                console.log(data);
            })
        }, timeout);
   }

   var myFunc = function(){
        timeout = 0;
        i = 0;
        while(i < 10){
            // By calling a function, the i-value is going to be 1.. 10 and not always 10
            startTimeout(timeout, i);
            // Increase timeout by 1 sec after each call
            timeout += 1000;
            i++;
        }
    }

This examples waits 1 second after each request before sending the next one.

C# using Sendkey function to send a key to another application

If notepad is already started, you should write:

// import the function in your class
[DllImport ("User32.dll")]
static extern int SetForegroundWindow(IntPtr point);

//...

Process p = Process.GetProcessesByName("notepad").FirstOrDefault();
if (p != null)
{
    IntPtr h = p.MainWindowHandle;
    SetForegroundWindow(h);
    SendKeys.SendWait("k");
}

GetProcessesByName returns an array of processes, so you should get the first one (or find the one you want).

If you want to start notepad and send the key, you should write:

Process p = Process.Start("notepad.exe");
p.WaitForInputIdle();
IntPtr h = p.MainWindowHandle;
SetForegroundWindow(h);
SendKeys.SendWait("k");

The only situation in which the code may not work is when notepad is started as Administrator and your application is not.

How to Delete a topic in apache kafka

Deletion of a topic has been supported since 0.8.2.x version. You have to enable topic deletion (setting delete.topic.enable to true) on all brokers first.

Note: Ever since 1.0.x, the functionality being stable, delete.topic.enable is by default true.

Follow this step by step process for manual deletion of topics

  1. Stop Kafka server
  2. Delete the topic directory, on each broker (as defined in the logs.dirs and log.dir properties) with rm -rf command
  3. Connect to Zookeeper instance: zookeeper-shell.sh host:port

Two arrays in foreach loop

I solved a problem like yours by this way:

foreach(array_keys($idarr) as $i) {
 echo "Student ID: ".$idarr[$i]."<br />";
 echo "Present: ".$presentarr[$i]."<br />";
 echo "Reason: ".$reasonarr[$i]."<br />";
 echo "Mark: ".$markarr[$i]."<br />";
}

How do I collapse a table row in Bootstrap?

problem is that the collapse item (div) is nested in the table elements. The div is hidden, the tr and td of the table are still visible and some css-styles are applied to them (border and padding).
Why are you using tables? Is there a reason for? When you dont´t have to use them, dont´use them :-)

C#: List All Classes in Assembly

Use Assembly.GetTypes. For example:

Assembly mscorlib = typeof(string).Assembly;
foreach (Type type in mscorlib.GetTypes())
{
    Console.WriteLine(type.FullName);
}

See whether an item appears more than once in a database column

To expand on Solomon Rutzky's answer, if you are looking for a piece of data that shows up in a range (i.e. more than once but less than 5x), you can use

having count(*) > 1 and count(*) < 5

And you can use whatever qualifiers you desire in there - they don't have to match, it's all just included in the 'having' statement. https://webcheatsheet.com/sql/interactive_sql_tutorial/sql_having.php

#1214 - The used table type doesn't support FULLTEXT indexes

The problem occurred because of wrong table type.MyISAM is the only type of table that Mysql supports for Full-text indexes.

To correct this error run following sql.

html select scroll bar

One options will be to show the selected option above (or below) the select list like following:

HTML

<div id="selText"><span>&nbsp;</span></div><br/>
<select size="4" id="mySelect" style="width:65px;color:#f98ad3;">
    <option value="1" selected>option 1 The Long Option</option>
    <option value="2">option 2</option>
    <option value="3">option 3</option>
    <option value="4">option 4</option>
    <option value="5">option 5 Another Longer than the Long Option ;)</option>
    <option value="6">option 6</option>
</select>

JavaScript

<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.min.js"
  type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
    $("select#mySelect").change(function(){
      //$("#selText").html($($(this).children("option:selected")[0]).text());
       var txt = $($(this).children("option:selected")[0]).text();
       $("<span>" + txt + "<br/></span>").appendTo($("#selText span:last"));
    });
});
</script>

PS:- Set height of div#selText otherwise it will keep shifting select list downward.

Calculating the area under a curve given a set of coordinates, without knowing the function

If you have sklearn isntalled, a simple alternative is to use sklearn.metrics.auc

This computes the area under the curve using the trapezoidal rule given arbitrary x, and y array

import numpy as np
from sklearn.metrics import auc

dx = 5
xx = np.arange(1,100,dx)
yy = np.arange(1,100,dx)

print('computed AUC using sklearn.metrics.auc: {}'.format(auc(xx,yy)))
print('computed AUC using np.trapz: {}'.format(np.trapz(yy, dx = dx)))

both output the same area: 4607.5

the advantage of sklearn.metrics.auc is that it can accept arbitrarily-spaced 'x' array, just make sure it is ascending otherwise the results will be incorrect

What is the role of the bias in neural networks?

The bias is not an NN term, it's a generic algebra term to consider.

Y = M*X + C (straight line equation)

Now if C(Bias) = 0 then, the line will always pass through the origin, i.e. (0,0), and depends on only one parameter, i.e. M, which is the slope so we have less things to play with.

C, which is the bias takes any number and has the activity to shift the graph, and hence able to represent more complex situations.

In a logistic regression, the expected value of the target is transformed by a link function to restrict its value to the unit interval. In this way, model predictions can be viewed as primary outcome probabilities as shown: Sigmoid function on Wikipedia

This is the final activation layer in the NN map that turns on and off the neuron. Here also bias has a role to play and it shifts the curve flexibly to help us map the model.

if (boolean condition) in Java

if (turnedOn) {
    //do stuff when the condition is false or true?
}
else {
    //do else of if
}

It can be written like:

if (turnedOn == true) {
        //do stuff when the condition is false or true?
    }
else { // turnedOn == false or !turnedOn
        //do else of if
}

So if your turnedOn variable is true, if will be called, if is assigned to false, else will be called. boolean values are implicitly assigned to false if you won't assign them explicitly e.q. turnedOn = true

Resize UIImage and change the size of UIImageView

Use the category below and then apply border from Quartz into your image:

[yourimage.layer setBorderColor:[[UIColor whiteColor] CGColor]];
[yourimage.layer setBorderWidth:2];

The category: UIImage+AutoScaleResize.h

#import <Foundation/Foundation.h>

@interface UIImage (AutoScaleResize)

- (UIImage *)imageByScalingAndCroppingForSize:(CGSize)targetSize;

@end

UIImage+AutoScaleResize.m

#import "UIImage+AutoScaleResize.h"

    UIImage *sourceImage = self;
    UIImage *newImage = nil;
    CGSize imageSize = sourceImage.size;
    CGFloat width = imageSize.width;
    CGFloat height = imageSize.height;
    CGFloat targetWidth = targetSize.width;
    CGFloat targetHeight = targetSize.height;
    CGFloat scaleFactor = 0.0;
    CGFloat scaledWidth = targetWidth;
    CGFloat scaledHeight = targetHeight;
    CGPoint thumbnailPoint = CGPointMake(0.0,0.0);

    if (CGSizeEqualToSize(imageSize, targetSize) == NO)
    {
        CGFloat widthFactor = targetWidth / width;
        CGFloat heightFactor = targetHeight / height;

        if (widthFactor > heightFactor)
        {
            scaleFactor = widthFactor; // scale to fit height
        }
        else
        {
            scaleFactor = heightFactor; // scale to fit width
        }

        scaledWidth  = width * scaleFactor;
        scaledHeight = height * scaleFactor;

        // center the image
        if (widthFactor > heightFactor)
        {

Selecting specific rows and columns from NumPy array

As Toan suggests, a simple hack would be to just select the rows first, and then select the columns over that.

>>> a[[0,1,3], :]            # Returns the rows you want
array([[ 0,  1,  2,  3],
       [ 4,  5,  6,  7],
       [12, 13, 14, 15]])
>>> a[[0,1,3], :][:, [0,2]]  # Selects the columns you want as well
array([[ 0,  2],
       [ 4,  6],
       [12, 14]])

[Edit] The built-in method: np.ix_

I recently discovered that numpy gives you an in-built one-liner to doing exactly what @Jaime suggested, but without having to use broadcasting syntax (which suffers from lack of readability). From the docs:

Using ix_ one can quickly construct index arrays that will index the cross product. a[np.ix_([1,3],[2,5])] returns the array [[a[1,2] a[1,5]], [a[3,2] a[3,5]]].

So you use it like this:

>>> a = np.arange(20).reshape((5,4))
>>> a[np.ix_([0,1,3], [0,2])]
array([[ 0,  2],
       [ 4,  6],
       [12, 14]])

And the way it works is that it takes care of aligning arrays the way Jaime suggested, so that broadcasting happens properly:

>>> np.ix_([0,1,3], [0,2])
(array([[0],
        [1],
        [3]]), array([[0, 2]]))

Also, as MikeC says in a comment, np.ix_ has the advantage of returning a view, which my first (pre-edit) answer did not. This means you can now assign to the indexed array:

>>> a[np.ix_([0,1,3], [0,2])] = -1
>>> a
array([[-1,  1, -1,  3],
       [-1,  5, -1,  7],
       [ 8,  9, 10, 11],
       [-1, 13, -1, 15],
       [16, 17, 18, 19]])

Python error "ImportError: No module named"

I ran into something very similar when I did this exercise in LPTHW; I could never get Python to recognise that I had files in the directory I was calling from. But I was able to get it to work in the end. What I did, and what I recommend, is to try this:

(NOTE: From your initial post, I am assuming you are using an *NIX-based machine and are running things from the command line, so this advice is tailored to that. Since I run Ubuntu, this is what I did)

1) Change directory (cd) to the directory above the directory where your files are. In this case, you're trying to run the mountain.py file, and trying to call the toolkit.interface.py module, which are in separate directories. In this case, you would go to the directory that contains paths to both those files (or in other words, the closest directory that the paths of both those files share). Which in this case is the toolkit directory.

2) When you are in the tookit directory, enter this line of code on your command line:

export PYTHONPATH=.

This sets your PYTHONPATH to ".", which basically means that your PYTHONPATH will now look for any called files within the directory you are currently in, (and more to the point, in the sub-directory branches of the directory you are in. So it doesn't just look in your current directory, but in all the directories that are in your current directory).

3) After you've set your PYTHONPATH in the step above, run your module from your current directory (the toolkit directory). Python should now find and load the modules you specified.

Hope this helps. I was quite frustrated with this myself.

Can I call a function of a shell script from another shell script?

Refactor your second.sh script like this:

function func1 {
   fun=$1
   book=$2
   printf "fun=%s,book=%s\n" "${fun}" "${book}"
}

function func2 {
   fun2=$1
   book2=$2
   printf "fun2=%s,book2=%s\n" "${fun2}" "${book2}"
}

And then call these functions from script first.sh like this:

source ./second.sh
func1 love horror
func2 ball mystery

OUTPUT:

fun=love,book=horror
fun2=ball,book2=mystery

How do you run a script on login in *nix?

From wikipedia Bash

When Bash starts, it executes the commands in a variety of different scripts.

When Bash is invoked as an interactive login shell, it first reads and executes commands from the file /etc/profile, if that file exists. After reading that file, it looks for ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_login, and ~/.profile, in that order, and reads and executes commands from the first one that exists and is readable.

When a login shell exits, Bash reads and executes commands from the file ~/.bash_logout, if it exists.

When an interactive shell that is not a login shell is started, Bash reads and executes commands from ~/.bashrc, if that file exists. This may be inhibited by using the --norc option. The --rcfile file option will force Bash to read and execute commands from file instead of ~/.bashrc.

How to push JSON object in to array using javascript

You need to have the 'data' array outside of the loop, otherwise it will get reset in every loop and also you can directly push the json. Find the solution below:-

var my_json;
$.getJSON("https://api.thingspeak.com/channels/"+did+"/feeds.json?api_key="+apikey+"&results=300", function(json1) {
console.log(json1);
var data = [];
json1.feeds.forEach(function(feed,i){
    console.log("\n The details of " + i + "th Object are :  \nCreated_at: " + feed.created_at + "\nEntry_id:" + feed.entry_id + "\nField1:" + feed.field1 + "\nField2:" + feed.field2+"\nField3:" + feed.field3);
    my_json = feed;
    console.log(my_json); //Object {created_at: "2017-03-14T01:00:32Z", entry_id: 33358, field1: "4", field2: "4", field3: "0"}
    data.push(my_json);
     //["2017-03-14T01:00:32Z", 33358, "4", "4", "0"]
});
console.log(data);

How are people unit testing with Entity Framework 6, should you bother?

If you want to unit test code then you need to isolate your code you want to test (in this case your service) from external resources (e.g. databases). You could probably do this with some sort of in-memory EF provider, however a much more common way is to abstract away your EF implementation e.g. with some sort of repository pattern. Without this isolation any tests you write will be integration tests, not unit tests.

As for testing EF code - I write automated integration tests for my repositories that write various rows to the database during their initialization, and then call my repository implementations to make sure that they behave as expected (e.g. making sure that results are filtered correctly, or that they are sorted in the correct order).

These are integration tests not unit tests, as the tests rely on having a database connection present, and that the target database already has the latest up-to-date schema installed.

How do I run Visual Studio as an administrator by default?

Applying this change will make it so that when you double click on a .sln file Visual Studio will not open. Also, you will not be able to drag and drop files into Visual Studio.

Follow the numbered instructions for each file in the bullited list. The paths are for a standard 64-bit install so you may have to adjust them for your system.

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\MSEnv\VSLauncher.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe

    1. Right click on the file and select Properties
    2. Select the Compatibility tab
    3. Optional: Select Change settings for all users
    4. Select Run this program as an administrator

The data-toggle attributes in Twitter Bootstrap

For example, say you were creating a web application to list and display recipes. You might want your customers to be able to sort the list, display features of the recipes, and so on before they choose the recipe to open. In order to do this, you need to associate things like cooking time, primary ingredient, meal position, and so on right inside the list elements for the recipes.

<li><a href="recipe1.html">Borscht</a></li>
<li><a href="recipe2.html">Chocolate Mousse</a></li>
<li><a href="recipe3.html">Almond Radiccio Salad</a></li>
<li><a href="recipe4.html">Deviled Eggs</a></li>

In order to get that information into the page, you could do many different things. You could add comments to each LI element, you could add rel attributes to the list items, you could place all the recipes in separate folders based on time, meal, and ingredient (i.e. ). The solution that most developers took was to use class attributes to store information about the current element. This has several advantages:

  • You can store multiple classes on an element
  • The class names can be human readable
  • It’s easy to access classes with JavaScript (className)
  • The class is associated with the element it’s on

But there are some major drawbacks to this method:

  • You have to remember what the classes do. If you forget or a new developer takes over the project, the classes might be removed or changed without realizing that that affects how the application runs.
  • Classes are also used for styling with CSS, and you might duplicate CSS classes with data classes by mistake, ending up with strange styles on your live pages.
  • It’s more difficult to add on multiple data elements. If you have multiple data elements, you need to access them in some way with your JavaScript, either by the name of the class or the position in the class list. But it’s easy to mess up.

All the other methods I suggested had these problems as well as others. But since it was the only way to quickly and easily include data, that’s what we did. HTML5 Data Attributes to the Rescue

HTML5 added a new type of attribute to any element—the custom data element (data-*). These are custom (denoted by the *) attributes that you can add to your HTML elements to define any type of data you want. They consist of two parts:

Attribute Name This is the name of the attribute. It must be at least one lowercase character and have the prefix data-. For example: data-main-ingredient, data-cooking-time, data-meal. This is the name of your data.

Attribute Vaule Like any other HTML attribute, you include the data itself in quotes separated by an equal sign. This data can be any string that is valid on a web page. For example: data-main-ingredient="chocolate".

You can then apply these data attributes to any HTML element you want. For example, you could define the information in the example list above:

<li data-main-ingredient="beets" data-cooking-time="1 hour" data-meal="dinner"><a href="recipe1.html">Borscht</a></li>
<li data-main-ingredient="chocolate" data-cooking-time="30 minutes" data-meal="dessert"><a href="recipe2.html">Chocolate Mousse</a></li>
<li data-main-ingredient="radiccio" data-cooking-time="20 minutes" data-meal="dinner"><a href="recipe1.html">Almond Radiccio Salad</a></li>
<li data-main-ingredient="eggs" data-cooking-time="15 minutes" data-meal="appetizer"><a href="recipe1.html">Deviled Eggs</a></li>

Once you have that information in your HTML, you will be able to access it with JavaScript and manipulate the page based on that data.

it saves your .bat file to "Appdata of current user" ,if it does not exist and remove the attributes and after that set the "hidden" attributes to file after writing your cmd code and run it silently and capture all output saves it to file so if u wanna save all output of cmd to file just add your like this

code > C:\Users\Lenovo\Desktop\output.txt

just replace word "code" with your .bat file code or command and after that the directory of output file I found one code recently after searching alot if u wanna run .bat file in vb or c# or simply just add this in the same manner in which i have written

How can I check if an InputStream is empty without reading from it?

Based on the suggestion of using the PushbackInputStream, you'll find an exemple implementation here:

/**
 * @author Lorber Sebastien <i>([email protected])</i>
 */
public class NonEmptyInputStream extends FilterInputStream {

  /**
   * Once this stream has been created, do not consume the original InputStream
   * because there will be one missing byte...
   * @param originalInputStream
   * @throws IOException
   * @throws EmptyInputStreamException
   */
  public NonEmptyInputStream(InputStream originalInputStream) throws IOException, EmptyInputStreamException {
    super( checkStreamIsNotEmpty(originalInputStream) );
  }

  /**
   * Permits to check the InputStream is empty or not
   * Please note that only the returned InputStream must be consummed.
   *
   * see:
   * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1524299/how-can-i-check-if-an-inputstream-is-empty-without-reading-from-it
   *
   * @param inputStream
   * @return
   */
  private static InputStream checkStreamIsNotEmpty(InputStream inputStream) throws IOException, EmptyInputStreamException {
    Preconditions.checkArgument(inputStream != null,"The InputStream is mandatory");
    PushbackInputStream pushbackInputStream = new PushbackInputStream(inputStream);
    int b;
    b = pushbackInputStream.read();
    if ( b == -1 ) {
      throw new EmptyInputStreamException("No byte can be read from stream " + inputStream);
    }
    pushbackInputStream.unread(b);
    return pushbackInputStream;
  }

  public static class EmptyInputStreamException extends RuntimeException {
    public EmptyInputStreamException(String message) {
      super(message);
    }
  }

}

And here are some passing tests:

  @Test(expected = EmptyInputStreamException.class)
  public void test_check_empty_input_stream_raises_exception_for_empty_stream() throws IOException {
    InputStream emptyStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(new byte[0]);
    new NonEmptyInputStream(emptyStream);
  }

  @Test
  public void test_check_empty_input_stream_ok_for_non_empty_stream_and_returned_stream_can_be_consummed_fully() throws IOException {
    String streamContent = "HELLooooô wörld";
    InputStream inputStream = IOUtils.toInputStream(streamContent, StandardCharsets.UTF_8);
    inputStream = new NonEmptyInputStream(inputStream);
    assertThat(IOUtils.toString(inputStream,StandardCharsets.UTF_8)).isEqualTo(streamContent);
  }

Pass request headers in a jQuery AJAX GET call

As of jQuery 1.5, there is a headers hash you can pass in as follows:

$.ajax({
    url: "/test",
    headers: {"X-Test-Header": "test-value"}
});

From http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax:

headers (added 1.5): A map of additional header key/value pairs to send along with the request. This setting is set before the beforeSend function is called; therefore, any values in the headers setting can be overwritten from within the beforeSend function.

How to compare pointers?

Comparing pointers is not portable, for example in DOS different pointer values points to the same location, comparison of the pointers returns false.

/*--{++:main.c}--------------------------------------------------*/
#include <dos.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(void)
{
  int   val_a = 123;
  int * ptr_0 = &val_a;
  int * ptr_1 = MK_FP(FP_SEG(&val_a) + 1, FP_OFF(&val_a) - 16);

  printf(" val_a = %d -> @%p\n", val_a, (void *)(&val_a));
  printf("*ptr_0 = %d -> @%p\n", *ptr_0, (void *)ptr_0);
  printf("*ptr_1 = %d -> @%p\n", *ptr_1, (void *)ptr_1);

  /* Check what returns the pointers comparison: */
  printf("&val_a == ptr_0 ====> %d\n", &val_a == ptr_0);
  printf("&val_a == ptr_1 ====> %d\n", &val_a == ptr_1);
  printf(" ptr_0 == ptr_1 ====> %d\n",  ptr_0 == ptr_1);

  printf("val_a = %d\n", val_a);

  printf(">> *ptr_0 += 100;\n");
             *ptr_0 += 100;

  printf("val_a = %d\n", val_a);

  printf(">> *ptr_1 += 500;\n");
             *ptr_1 += 500;

  printf("val_a = %d\n", val_a);

  return EXIT_SUCCESS;
}
/*--{--:main.c}--------------------------------------------------*/

Compile it under Borland C 5.0, here is the result:

/*--{++:result}--------------------------------------------------*/
 val_a = 123 -> @167A:0FFE
*ptr_0 = 123 -> @167A:0FFE
*ptr_1 = 123 -> @167B:0FEE
&val_a == ptr_0 ====> 1
&val_a == ptr_1 ====> 0
 ptr_0 == ptr_1 ====> 0
val_a = 123
>> *ptr_0 += 100;
val_a = 223
>> *ptr_1 += 500;
val_a = 723

how to put image in center of html page?

Put your image in a container div then use the following CSS (changing the dimensions to suit your image.

.imageContainer{
        position: absolute;
        width: 100px; /*the image width*/
        height: 100px; /*the image height*/
        left: 50%;
        top: 50%;
        margin-left: -50px; /*half the image width*/
        margin-top: -50px; /*half the image height*/
    }

SQL - ORDER BY 'datetime' DESC

  1. use single quotes for strings
  2. do NOT put single quotes around table names(use ` instead)
  3. do NOT put single quotes around numbers (you can, but it's harder to read)
  4. do NOT put AND between ORDER BY and LIMIT
  5. do NOT put = between ORDER BY, LIMIT keywords and condition

So you query will look like:

SELECT post_datetime
FROM post
WHERE type = 'published'
ORDER BY post_datetime DESC
LIMIT 3

Force uninstall of Visual Studio

I was running in to the same issue, but have just managed a full uninstall by means of trusty old CMD:

D:\vs_ultimate.exe /uninstall /force

Where D: is the location of your installation media (mounted iso, etc).

You could also pass /passive (no user input required - just progress displayed) or /quiet to the above command line.

EDIT: Adding link below to MSDN article mentioning that this forcibly removes ALL installed components.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/heaths/archive/2015/07/17/removing-visual-studio-components-left-behind-after-an-uninstall.aspx

Also, to ensure link rot doesn't invalidate this, adding brief text below from original article.

Starting with Visual Studio 2013, you can forcibly remove almost all components. A few core components – like the .NET Framework and VC runtimes – are left behind because of their ubiquity, though you can remove those separately from Programs and Features if you really want.

Warning: This will remove all components regardless of whether other products require them. This may cause other products to function incorrectly or not function at all.

Good luck!

How to combine date from one field with time from another field - MS SQL Server

This is an alternative solution without any char conversions:

DATEADD(ms, DATEDIFF(ms, '00:00:00', [Time]), CONVERT(DATETIME, [Date]))

You will only get milliseconds accuracy this way, but that would normally be OK. I have tested this in SQL Server 2008.

What is difference between Errors and Exceptions?

Error is something that most of the time you cannot handle it.

Exception was meant to give you an opportunity to do something with it. like try something else or write to the log.

try{
  //connect to database 1
}
catch(DatabaseConnctionException err){
  //connect to database 2
  //write the err to log
}

What to do with branch after merge

I prefer RENAME rather than DELETE

All my branches are named in the form of

  • Fix/fix-<somedescription> or
  • Ftr/ftr-<somedescription> or
  • etc.

Using Tower as my git front end, it neatly organizes all the Ftr/, Fix/, Test/ etc. into folders.
Once I am done with a branch, I rename them to Done/...-<description>.

That way they are still there (which can be handy to provide history) and I can always go back knowing what it was (feature, fix, test, etc.)

Difference between @click and v-on:click Vuejs

They may look a bit different from normal HTML, but : and @ are valid chars for attribute names and all Vue.js supported browsers can parse it correctly. In addition, they do not appear in the final rendered markup. The shorthand syntax is totally optional, but you will likely appreciate it when you learn more about its usage later.

How to gracefully handle the SIGKILL signal in Java

It is impossible for any program, in any language, to handle a SIGKILL. This is so it is always possible to terminate a program, even if the program is buggy or malicious. But SIGKILL is not the only means for terminating a program. The other is to use a SIGTERM. Programs can handle that signal. The program should handle the signal by doing a controlled, but rapid, shutdown. When a computer shuts down, the final stage of the shutdown process sends every remaining process a SIGTERM, gives those processes a few seconds grace, then sends them a SIGKILL.

The way to handle this for anything other than kill -9 would be to register a shutdown hook. If you can use (SIGTERM) kill -15 the shutdown hook will work. (SIGINT) kill -2 DOES cause the program to gracefully exit and run the shutdown hooks.

Registers a new virtual-machine shutdown hook.

The Java virtual machine shuts down in response to two kinds of events:

  • The program exits normally, when the last non-daemon thread exits or when the exit (equivalently, System.exit) method is invoked, or
  • The virtual machine is terminated in response to a user interrupt, such as typing ^C, or a system-wide event, such as user logoff or system shutdown.

I tried the following test program on OSX 10.6.3 and on kill -9 it did NOT run the shutdown hook, as expected. On a kill -15 it DOES run the shutdown hook every time.

public class TestShutdownHook
{
    public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException
    {
        Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(new Thread()
        {
            @Override
            public void run()
            {
                System.out.println("Shutdown hook ran!");
            }
        });

        while (true)
        {
            Thread.sleep(1000);
        }
    }
}

There isn't any way to really gracefully handle a kill -9 in any program.

In rare circumstances the virtual machine may abort, that is, stop running without shutting down cleanly. This occurs when the virtual machine is terminated externally, for example with the SIGKILL signal on Unix or the TerminateProcess call on Microsoft Windows.

The only real option to handle a kill -9 is to have another watcher program watch for your main program to go away or use a wrapper script. You could do with this with a shell script that polled the ps command looking for your program in the list and act accordingly when it disappeared.

#!/usr/bin/env bash

java TestShutdownHook
wait
# notify your other app that you quit
echo "TestShutdownHook quit"

Why can't I do <img src="C:/localfile.jpg">?

we can use javascript's FileReader() and it's readAsDataURL(fileContent) function to show local drive/folder file. Bind change event to image then call javascript's showpreview function. Try this -

JPA CriteriaBuilder - How to use "IN" comparison operator

If I understand well, you want to Join ScheduleRequest with User and apply the in clause to the userName property of the entity User.

I'd need to work a bit on this schema. But you can try with this trick, that is much more readable than the code you posted, and avoids the Join part (because it handles the Join logic outside the Criteria Query).

List<String> myList = new ArrayList<String> ();
for (User u : usersList) {
    myList.add(u.getUsername());
}
Expression<String> exp = scheduleRequest.get("createdBy");
Predicate predicate = exp.in(myList);
criteria.where(predicate);

In order to write more type-safe code you could also use Metamodel by replacing this line:

Expression<String> exp = scheduleRequest.get("createdBy");

with this:

Expression<String> exp = scheduleRequest.get(ScheduleRequest_.createdBy);

If it works, then you may try to add the Join logic into the Criteria Query. But right now I can't test it, so I prefer to see if somebody else wants to try.

Not a perfect answer though may be code snippets might help.

public <T> List<T> findListWhereInCondition(Class<T> clazz,
            String conditionColumnName, Serializable... conditionColumnValues) {
        QueryBuilder<T> queryBuilder = new QueryBuilder<T>(clazz);
        addWhereInClause(queryBuilder, conditionColumnName,

Plot a legend outside of the plotting area in base graphics?

Another solution, besides the ondes already mentioned (using layout or par(xpd=TRUE)) is to overlay your plot with a transparent plot over the entire device and then add the legend to that.

The trick is to overlay a (empty) graph over the complete plotting area and adding the legend to that. We can use the par(fig=...) option. First we instruct R to create a new plot over the entire plotting device:

par(fig=c(0, 1, 0, 1), oma=c(0, 0, 0, 0), mar=c(0, 0, 0, 0), new=TRUE)

Setting oma and mar is needed since we want to have the interior of the plot cover the entire device. new=TRUE is needed to prevent R from starting a new device. We can then add the empty plot:

plot(0, 0, type='n', bty='n', xaxt='n', yaxt='n')

And we are ready to add the legend:

legend("bottomright", ...)

will add a legend to the bottom right of the device. Likewise, we can add the legend to the top or right margin. The only thing we need to ensure is that the margin of the original plot is large enough to accomodate the legend.

Putting all this into a function;

add_legend <- function(...) {
  opar <- par(fig=c(0, 1, 0, 1), oma=c(0, 0, 0, 0),
    mar=c(0, 0, 0, 0), new=TRUE)
  on.exit(par(opar))
  plot(0, 0, type='n', bty='n', xaxt='n', yaxt='n')
  legend(...)
}

And an example. First create the plot making sure we have enough space at the bottom to add the legend:

par(mar = c(5, 4, 1.4, 0.2))
plot(rnorm(50), rnorm(50), col=c("steelblue", "indianred"), pch=20)

Then add the legend

add_legend("topright", legend=c("Foo", "Bar"), pch=20,
   col=c("steelblue", "indianred"),
   horiz=TRUE, bty='n', cex=0.8)

Resulting in:

Example figure shown legend in top margin

Insert variable values in the middle of a string

You can use string.Format:

string template = "Hi We have these flights for you: {0}. Which one do you want";
string data = "A, B, C, D";
string message = string.Format(template, data);

You should load template from your resource file and data is your runtime values.

Be careful if you're translating to multiple languages, though: in some cases, you'll need different tokens (the {0}) in different languages.

H.264 file size for 1 hr of HD video

It is whatever size you want it to be, the only thing that changes is quality. If you intend it to be played back on a non-PC device (or a slow PC), you may need to respect a certain profile (standardized set of compression settings that ensure a fixed device can play back the content).

You can see the main H.264 profiles at Wikipedia

While it is highly subjective (and highly dependent on the content being compressed), it is claimed that H.264 can achieve the same quality as DVD MPEG2 using half the bitrate.

How to access model hasMany Relation with where condition?

I have fixed the similar issue by passing associative array as the first argument inside Builder::with method.

Imagine you want to include child relations by some dynamic parameters but don't want to filter parent results.

Model.php

public function child ()
{
    return $this->hasMany(ChildModel::class);
}

Then, in other place, when your logic is placed you can do something like filtering relation by HasMany class. For example (very similar to my case):

$search = 'Some search string';
$result = Model::query()->with(
    [
        'child' => function (HasMany $query) use ($search) {
            $query->where('name', 'like', "%{$search}%");
        }
    ]
);

Then you will filter all the child results but parent models will not filter. Thank you for attention.

How to log Apache CXF Soap Request and Soap Response using Log4j?

Another easy way is to set the logger like this- ensure that you do it before you load the cxf web service related classes. You can use it in some static blocks.

YourClientConstructor() {

  LogUtils.setLoggerClass(org.apache.cxf.common.logging.Log4jLogger.class);

  URL wsdlURL = YOurURL;//

  //create the service
  YourService = new YourService(wsdlURL, SERVICE_NAME);
  port = yourService.getServicePort();

  Client client = ClientProxy.getClient(port);
  client.getInInterceptors().add(new LoggingInInterceptor());
  client.getOutInterceptors().add(new LoggingOutInterceptor());
}

Then the inbound and outbound messages will be printed to Log4j file instead of the console. Make sure your log4j is configured properly

What is the difference between onBlur and onChange attribute in HTML?

onChange is when something within a field changes eg, you write something in a text input.

onBlur is when you take focus away from a field eg, you were writing in a text input and you have clicked off it.

So really they are almost the same thing but for onChange to behave the way onBlur does something in that input needs to change.

How to draw circle by canvas in Android?

If you are using your own CustomView extending View class, you need to call canvas.invalidate() method which will internally call onDraw method. You can use default API for canvas to draw a circle. The x, y cordinate define the center of the circle. You can also define color and styling in paint & pass the paint object.

public class CustomView extends View {

    public CustomView(Context context,  AttributeSet attrs) {
        super(context, attrs);
        setupPaint();
    }
}

Define default paint settings and canvas (Initialise paint in constructor so that you can reuse the same object everywhere and change only specific settings wherever required)

private Paint drawPaint;

// Setup paint with color and stroke styles
private void setupPaint() {
    drawPaint = new Paint();
    drawPaint.setColor(Color.BLUE);
    drawPaint.setAntiAlias(true);
    drawPaint.setStrokeWidth(5);
    drawPaint.setStyle(Paint.Style.FILL_AND_STROKE);
    drawPaint.setStrokeJoin(Paint.Join.ROUND);
    drawPaint.setStrokeCap(Paint.Cap.ROUND);
}

And initialise canvas object

private Canvas canvas;

@Override
protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) {
    super.onDraw(canvas);
    this.canvas = canvas;
    canvas.drawCircle(xCordinate, yCordinate, RADIUS, drawPaint);
}

And finally, for every view refresh or new draw on the screen, you need to call invalidate method. Remember your entire view is redrawn, hence this is an expensive call. Make sure you do only the necessary operations in onDraw

canvas.invalidate();

How do I sum values in a column that match a given condition using pandas?

The essential idea here is to select the data you want to sum, and then sum them. This selection of data can be done in several different ways, a few of which are shown below.

Boolean indexing

Arguably the most common way to select the values is to use Boolean indexing.

With this method, you find out where column 'a' is equal to 1 and then sum the corresponding rows of column 'b'. You can use loc to handle the indexing of rows and columns:

>>> df.loc[df['a'] == 1, 'b'].sum()
15

The Boolean indexing can be extended to other columns. For example if df also contained a column 'c' and we wanted to sum the rows in 'b' where 'a' was 1 and 'c' was 2, we'd write:

df.loc[(df['a'] == 1) & (df['c'] == 2), 'b'].sum()

Query

Another way to select the data is to use query to filter the rows you're interested in, select column 'b' and then sum:

>>> df.query("a == 1")['b'].sum()
15

Again, the method can be extended to make more complicated selections of the data:

df.query("a == 1 and c == 2")['b'].sum()

Note this is a little more concise than the Boolean indexing approach.

Groupby

The alternative approach is to use groupby to split the DataFrame into parts according to the value in column 'a'. You can then sum each part and pull out the value that the 1s added up to:

>>> df.groupby('a')['b'].sum()[1]
15

This approach is likely to be slower than using Boolean indexing, but it is useful if you want check the sums for other values in column a:

>>> df.groupby('a')['b'].sum()
a
1    15
2     8

Android - how to make a scrollable constraintlayout?

There is a type of constraint which breaks the scroll function:

Just make sure you are not using this constraint on any view when wanting your ConstraintLayout to be scrollable with ScrollView :

app:layout_constraintBottom_toBottomOf=“parent”

If you remove these your scroll should work.

Explanation:

Setting the height of the child to match that of a ScrollView parent is contradictory to what the component is meant to do. What we want most of the time is for some dynamic sized content to be scrollable when it is larger than a screen/frame; matching the height with the parent ScrollView would force all the content to be displayed into a fixed frame (the height of the parent) hence invalidating any scrolling functionality.

This also happens when regular direct child components are set to layout_height="match_parent".

If you want the child of the ScrollView to match the height of the parent when there is not enough content, simply set android:fillViewport to true for the ScrollView.

CSS disable text selection

Don't apply these properties to the whole body. Move them to a class and apply that class to the elements you want to disable select:

.disable-select {
  -webkit-user-select: none;
  -moz-user-select: none;
  -ms-user-select: none;
  user-select: none;
}

py2exe - generate single executable file

The way to do this using py2exe is to use the bundle_files option in your setup.py file. For a single file you will want to set bundle_files to 1, compressed to True, and set the zipfile option to None. That way it creates one compressed file for easy distribution.

Here is a more complete description of the bundle_file option quoted directly from the py2exe site*

Using "bundle_files" and "zipfile"

An easier (and better) way to create single-file executables is to set bundle_files to 1 or 2, and to set zipfile to None. This approach does not require extracting files to a temporary location, which provides much faster program startup.

Valid values for bundle_files are:

  • 3 (default) don't bundle
  • 2 bundle everything but the Python interpreter
  • 1 bundle everything, including the Python interpreter

If zipfile is set to None, the files will be bundle within the executable instead of library.zip.

Here is a sample setup.py:

from distutils.core import setup
import py2exe, sys, os

sys.argv.append('py2exe')

setup(
    options = {'py2exe': {'bundle_files': 1, 'compressed': True}},
    windows = [{'script': "single.py"}],
    zipfile = None,
)

How does a Java HashMap handle different objects with the same hash code?

import java.util.HashMap;

public class Students  {
    String name;
    int age;

    Students(String name, int age ){
        this.name = name;
        this.age=age;
    }

    @Override
    public int hashCode() {
        System.out.println("__hash__");
        final int prime = 31;
        int result = 1;
        result = prime * result + age;
        result = prime * result + ((name == null) ? 0 : name.hashCode());
        return result;
    }

    @Override
    public boolean equals(Object obj) {
        System.out.println("__eq__");
        if (this == obj)
            return true;
        if (obj == null)
            return false;
        if (getClass() != obj.getClass())
            return false;
        Students other = (Students) obj;
        if (age != other.age)
            return false;
        if (name == null) {
            if (other.name != null)
                return false;
        } else if (!name.equals(other.name))
            return false;
        return true;
    }

    public static void main(String[] args) {

        Students S1 = new Students("taj",22);
        Students S2 = new Students("taj",21);

        System.out.println(S1.hashCode());
        System.out.println(S2.hashCode());

        HashMap<Students,String > HM = new HashMap<Students,String > ();
        HM.put(S1, "tajinder");
        HM.put(S2, "tajinder");
        System.out.println(HM.size());
    }
}

Output:

__ hash __

116232

__ hash __

116201

__ hash __

__ hash __

2

So here we see that if both the objects S1 and S2 have different content, then we are pretty sure that our overridden Hashcode method will generate different Hashcode(116232,11601) for both objects. NOW since there are different hash codes, so it won't even bother to call EQUALS method. Because a different Hashcode GUARANTEES DIFFERENT content in an object.

    public static void main(String[] args) {

        Students S1 = new Students("taj",21);
        Students S2 = new Students("taj",21);

        System.out.println(S1.hashCode());
        System.out.println(S2.hashCode());

        HashMap<Students,String > HM = new HashMap<Students,String > ();
        HM.put(S1, "tajinder");
        HM.put(S2, "tajinder");
        System.out.println(HM.size());
    }
}

Now lets change out main method a little bit. Output after this change is

__ hash __

116201

__ hash __

116201

__ hash __

__ hash __

__ eq __

1
We can clearly see that equal method is called. Here is print statement __eq__, since we have same hashcode, then content of objects MAY or MAY not be similar. So program internally calls Equal method to verify this.

Conclusion
If hashcode is different , equal method will not get called.
if hashcode is same, equal method will get called.

Thanks , hope it helps.

"Incorrect string value" when trying to insert UTF-8 into MySQL via JDBC?

I had the same problem in my rails project:

Incorrect string value: '\xF0\xA9\xB8\xBDs ...' for column 'subject' at row1

Solution 1: before saving to db convert string to base64 by Base64.encode64(subject) and after fetching from db use Base64.decode64(subject)

Solution 2:

Step 1: Change the character set (and collation) for subject column by

ALTER TABLE t1 MODIFY
subject VARCHAR(255)
  CHARACTER SET utf8mb4
  COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;

Step 2: In database.yml use

encoding :utf8mb4

Command copy exited with code 4 when building - Visual Studio restart solves it

I don't see anything in here to suggest that this is a web-app but I have experienced this issue myself - I've got two xcopy commands on a post-build event and only one of them was failing. Something had a lock on the file, and it wasn't Visual Studio (as I tried restarting it.)

The only other thing that would have used the dll I built was IIS. And lo and behold,

A simple iisreset did the trick for me.

What is the difference between tree depth and height?

The “depth” (or equivalently the “level number”) of a node is the number of edges on the “path” from the root node

The “height” of a node is the number of edges on the longest path from the node to a leaf node.

Interfaces with static fields in java for sharing 'constants'

It's generally considered bad practice. The problem is that the constants are part of the public "interface" (for want of a better word) of the implementing class. This means that the implementing class is publishing all of these values to external classes even when they are only required internally. The constants proliferate throughout the code. An example is the SwingConstants interface in Swing, which is implemented by dozens of classes that all "re-export" all of its constants (even the ones that they don't use) as their own.

But don't just take my word for it, Josh Bloch also says it's bad:

The constant interface pattern is a poor use of interfaces. That a class uses some constants internally is an implementation detail. Implementing a constant interface causes this implementation detail to leak into the class's exported API. It is of no consequence to the users of a class that the class implements a constant interface. In fact, it may even confuse them. Worse, it represents a commitment: if in a future release the class is modified so that it no longer needs to use the constants, it still must implement the interface to ensure binary compatibility. If a nonfinal class implements a constant interface, all of its subclasses will have their namespaces polluted by the constants in the interface.

An enum may be a better approach. Or you could simply put the constants as public static fields in a class that cannot be instantiated. This allows another class to access them without polluting its own API.

What is the difference between an expression and a statement in Python?

An expression is something that can be reduced to a value, for example "1+3" is an expression, but "foo = 1+3" is not.

It's easy to check:

print(foo = 1+3)

If it doesn't work, it's a statement, if it does, it's an expression.

Another statement could be:

class Foo(Bar): pass

as it cannot be reduced to a value.

How to make inactive content inside a div?

div[disabled]

The above code makes the contents of the div disabled. You can make div disabled by adding disabled attribute.

<div disabled>

</div>

Excel - Shading entire row based on change of value

A simpler version of one of the above answers. Column A is the key.
Yes, it needs a helper column. That's column K.
1) Set first cell in table to TRUE (K8)
2) On second row at K9, and to end of table (K99), paste: =IF(A8=A9,K8,NOT(K8))
This gives a pattern of TRUE...TRUE, FALSE...FALSE,...
3) Select key column A1:A99, or whole table A1:K99
4) Set Home/Conditional/New Rule/Formula  =K8
5) Format as you wish for the TRUE cells
6) Select the range from (3) and Right-click Format White (or whatever
background color you want) for the FALSE cells

Note that this solution (and the others) have a major flaw, in that this
highlighting doesn't work properly when you have filters active in your
table. I want that fix :)

C# cannot convert method to non delegate type

To execute a method you need to add parentheses, even if the method does not take arguments.

So it should be:

string t = obj.getTitle();

Use YAML with variables

This is how I was able to configure yaml files to refer to variable.

I have values.yaml where we have root level fields which are used as template variables inside values.yaml

values.yaml

.....
databaseUserPropName: spring.datasource.username
databaseUserName: sa
.....
secrets:
    type: Opaque
    name: dbservice-secrets
    data:
      - name: "{{ .Values.databaseUserPropName }}"
        value: "{{ .Values.databaseUserName }}"
.....

When referencing these values in secret.yaml, we would use tpl function using syntax {{ tpl TEMPLATE_STRING VALUES }}

secret.yaml

when using inside range i:e iteration

  {{ range .Values.deployments.secrets.data }}
    {{ tpl .name $ }}: "{{ tpl .value $ }}"
  {{ end }}

when directly referring as variable

  {{ tpl .Values.deployments.secrets.data.name . }}
  {{ tpl .Values.deployments.secrets.data.value . }}

$ - this is global variable and will always point to the root context . - this variable will point to the root context based on where it used.

how to call service method from ng-change of select in angularjs?

You have at least two issues in your code:

  • ng-change="getScoreData(Score)

    Angular doesn't see getScoreData method that refers to defined service

  • getScoreData: function (Score, callback)

    We don't need to use callback since GET returns promise. Use then instead.

Here is a working example (I used random address only for simulation):

HTML

<select ng-model="score"
        ng-change="getScoreData(score)"
        ng-options="score as score.name for score in  scores"></select>
    <pre>{{ScoreData|json}}</pre>

JS

var fessmodule = angular.module('myModule', ['ngResource']);

fessmodule.controller('fessCntrl', function($scope, ScoreDataService) {

    $scope.scores = [{
        name: 'Bukit Batok Street 1',
        URL: 'http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=Singapore, SG, Singapore, 153 Bukit Batok Street 1&sensor=true'
    }, {
        name: 'London 8',
        URL: 'http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=Singapore, SG, Singapore, London 8&sensor=true'
    }];

    $scope.getScoreData = function(score) {
        ScoreDataService.getScoreData(score).then(function(result) {
            $scope.ScoreData = result;

Different CURRENT_TIMESTAMP and SYSDATE in oracle

  1. SYSDATE, systimestamp return datetime of server where database is installed. SYSDATE - returns only date, i.e., "yyyy-mm-dd". systimestamp returns date with time and zone, i.e., "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss:ms timezone"
  2. now() returns datetime at the time statement execution, i.e., "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss"
  3. CURRENT_DATE - "yyyy-mm-dd", CURRENT_TIME - "hh:mm:ss", CURRENT_TIMESTAMP - "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss timezone". These are related to a record insertion time.

Register .NET Framework 4.5 in IIS 7.5

use .NET3.5 it worked for me for similar issue.

Wait one second in running program

Personally I think Thread.Sleep is a poor implementation. It locks the UI etc. I personally like timer implementations since it waits then fires.

Usage: DelayFactory.DelayAction(500, new Action(() => { this.RunAction(); }));

//Note Forms.Timer and Timer() have similar implementations.

public static void DelayAction(int millisecond, Action action)
{
    var timer = new DispatcherTimer();
    timer.Tick += delegate

    {
        action.Invoke();
        timer.Stop();
    };

    timer.Interval = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(millisecond);
    timer.Start();
}

How to get the top 10 values in postgresql?

Seems you are looking for ORDER BY in DESCending order with LIMIT clause:

SELECT
 *
FROM
  scores
ORDER BY score DESC
LIMIT 10

Of course SELECT * could seriously affect performance, so use it with caution.

Getting the name of the currently executing method

I don't know what is the intention behind getting the currently executed method's name, but if that's just for debugging purpose, then logging frameworks like "logback" can help here. For example, in logback, all you need to do is to use the pattern "%M" in your logging configuration. However, this should be used with caution as this may degrade performance.

Is there an equivalent of CSS max-width that works in HTML emails?

There is a trick you can do for Outlook 2007 using conditional html comments.
The code below will make sure that Outlook table is 800px wide, its not max-width but it works better than letting the table span across the entire window.

<!--[if gte mso 9]>
<style>
#tableForOutlook {
  width:800px;
}
</style>
<![endif]-->

<table style="width:98%;max-width:800px">
<!--[if gte mso 9]>
  <table id="tableForOutlook"><tr><td>
<![endif]-->
    <tr><td>
    [Your Content Goes Here]
    </td></tr>
<!--[if gte mso 9]>
  </td></tr></table>
<![endif]-->
<table>

How to check if a variable is an integer or a string?

The isdigit method of the str type returns True iff the given string is nothing but one or more digits. If it's not, you know the string should be treated as just a string.

How to search through all Git and Mercurial commits in the repository for a certain string?

Don't know about git, but in Mercurial I'd just pipe the output of hg log to some sed/perl/whatever script to search for whatever it is you're looking for. You can customize the output of hg log using a template or a style to make it easier to search on, if you wish.

This will include all named branches in the repo. Mercurial does not have something like dangling blobs afaik.

Already defined in .obj - no double inclusions

You probably don't want to do this:

#include "client.cpp"

A *.cpp file will have been compiled by the compiler as part of your build. By including it in other files, it will be compiled again (and again!) in every file in which you include it.

Now here's the thing: You are guarding it with #ifndef SOCKET_CLIENT_CLASS, however, each file that has #include "client.cpp" is built independently and as such will find SOCKET_CLIENT_CLASS not yet defined. Therefore it's contents will be included, not #ifdef'd out.

If it contains any definitions at all (rather than just declarations) then these definitions will be repeated in every file where it's included.

Case Function Equivalent in Excel

I know it a little late to answer but I think this short video will help you a lot.

http://www.xlninja.com/2012/07/25/excel-choose-function-explained/

Essentially it is using the choose function. He explains it very well in the video so I'll let do it instead of typing 20 pages.

Another video of his explains how to use data validation to populate a drop down which you can select from a limited range.

http://www.xlninja.com/2012/08/13/excel-data-validation-using-dependent-lists/

You could combine the two and use the value in the drop down as your index to the choose function. While he did not show how to combine them, I'm sure you could figure it out as his videos are good. If you have trouble, let me know and I'll update my answer to show you.

Undefined reference to main - collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Executable file needs a main function. See below hello world demo.

#include <stdio.h>
int main(void)
{
        printf("Hello world!\n");
        return 0;
}

As you can see there is a main function. if you don't have this main function, ld will report "undefined reference to main' "

check my result:

$ cat es3.c
#include <stdio.h>
int main(void)
{
    printf("Hello world!\n");

}
$ gcc -Wall -g -c es3.c

Parsing json and searching through it

As json.loads simply returns a dict, you can use the operators that apply to dicts:

>>> jdata = json.load('{"uri": "http:", "foo", "bar"}')
>>> 'uri' in jdata # Check if 'uri' is in jdata's keys
True
>>> jdata['uri'] # Will return the value belonging to the key 'uri'
u'http:'

Edit: to give an idea regarding how to loop through the data, consider the following example:

>>> import json
>>> jdata = json.loads(open ('bookmarks.json').read())
>>> for c in jdata['children'][0]['children']:
... print 'Title: {}, URI: {}'.format(c.get('title', 'No title'),
                                          c.get('uri', 'No uri'))
...
Title: Recently Bookmarked, URI: place:folder=BOOKMARKS_MENU(...)
Title: Recent Tags, URI: place:sort=14&type=6&maxResults=10&queryType=1
Title: , URI: No uri
Title: Mozilla Firefox, URI: No uri

Inspecting the jdata data structure will allow you to navigate it as you wish. The pprint call you already have is a good starting point for this.

Edit2: Another attempt. This gets the file you mentioned in a list of dictionaries. With this, I think you should be able to adapt it to your needs.

>>> def build_structure(data, d=[]):
...     if 'children' in data:
...         for c in data['children']:
...             d.append({'title': c.get('title', 'No title'),
...                                      'uri': c.get('uri', None)})
...             build_structure(c, d)
...     return d
...
>>> pprint.pprint(build_structure(jdata))
[{'title': u'Bookmarks Menu', 'uri': None},
 {'title': u'Recently Bookmarked',
  'uri':   u'place:folder=BOOKMARKS_MENU&folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS&(...)'},
 {'title': u'Recent Tags',
  'uri':   u'place:sort=14&type=6&maxResults=10&queryType=1'},
 {'title': u'', 'uri': None},
 {'title': u'Mozilla Firefox', 'uri': None},
 {'title': u'Help and Tutorials',
  'uri':   u'http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/help/'},
 (...)
}]

To then "search through it for u'uri': u'http:'", do something like this:

for c in build_structure(jdata):
    if c['uri'].startswith('http:'):
        print 'Started with http'

How to add bootstrap to an angular-cli project

  1. Install Bootstrap using npm

    npm install bootstrap

2.Install Popper.js

npm install --save popper.js

3.Goto angular.json in Angular 6 project / .angular-cli.json in Angular 5 and add the listed:

 "styles": [
          "node_modules/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.css",
          "src/styles.css"
        ],

        "scripts": [

Import Excel to Datagridview

Since you have not replied to my comment above, I am posting a solution for both.

You are missing ' in Extended Properties

For Excel 2003 try this (TRIED AND TESTED)

    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        String name = "Items";
        String constr = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" +
                        "C:\\Sample.xls" +
                        ";Extended Properties='Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;';";

        OleDbConnection con = new OleDbConnection(constr);
        OleDbCommand oconn = new OleDbCommand("Select * From [" + name + "$]", con);
        con.Open();

        OleDbDataAdapter sda = new OleDbDataAdapter(oconn);
        DataTable data = new DataTable();
        sda.Fill(data);
        grid_items.DataSource = data;
    }

BTW, I stopped working with Jet longtime ago. I use ACE now.

    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        String name = "Items";
        String constr = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" +
                        "C:\\Sample.xls" +
                        ";Extended Properties='Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;';";

        OleDbConnection con = new OleDbConnection(constr);
        OleDbCommand oconn = new OleDbCommand("Select * From [" + name + "$]", con);
        con.Open();

        OleDbDataAdapter sda = new OleDbDataAdapter(oconn);
        DataTable data = new DataTable();
        sda.Fill(data);
        grid_items.DataSource = data;
    }

enter image description here

For Excel 2007+

    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        String name = "Items";
        String constr = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" +
                        "C:\\Sample.xlsx" +
                        ";Extended Properties='Excel 12.0 XML;HDR=YES;';";

        OleDbConnection con = new OleDbConnection(constr);
        OleDbCommand oconn = new OleDbCommand("Select * From [" + name + "$]", con);
        con.Open();

        OleDbDataAdapter sda = new OleDbDataAdapter(oconn);
        DataTable data = new DataTable();
        sda.Fill(data);
        grid_items.DataSource = data;
    }

Get file name from URL

Get File Name with Extension, without Extension, only Extension with just 3 line:

String urlStr = "http://www.example.com/yourpath/foler/test.png";

String fileName = urlStr.substring(urlStr.lastIndexOf('/')+1, urlStr.length());
String fileNameWithoutExtension = fileName.substring(0, fileName.lastIndexOf('.'));
String fileExtension = urlStr.substring(urlStr.lastIndexOf("."));

Log.i("File Name", fileName);
Log.i("File Name Without Extension", fileNameWithoutExtension);
Log.i("File Extension", fileExtension);

Log Result:

File Name(13656): test.png
File Name Without Extension(13656): test
File Extension(13656): .png

Get a Windows Forms control by name in C#

Assuming you have Windows.Form Form1 as the parent form which owns the menu you've created. One of the form's attributes is named .Menu. If the menu was created programmatically, it should be the same, and it would be recognized as a menu and placed in the Menu attribute of the Form.

In this case, I had a main menu called File. A sub menu, called a MenuItem under File contained the tag Open and was named menu_File_Open. The following worked. Assuming you

// So you don't have to fully reference the objects.
using System.Windows.Forms;

// More stuff before the real code line, but irrelevant to this discussion.

MenuItem my_menuItem = (MenuItem)Form1.Menu.MenuItems["menu_File_Open"];

// Now you can do what you like with my_menuItem;

Passing a string array as a parameter to a function java

I believe this should be the way this is done...

public void function(String [] array){
....
}

And the calling will be done like...

public void test(){
    String[] stringArray = {"a","b","c","d","e","f","g","h","t","k","k","k","l","k"};
    function(stringArray);
}

Comparing arrays in JUnit assertions, concise built-in way?

Class Assertions in org.junit.jupiter.api

Use:

public static void assertArrayEquals(int[] expected,
                                     int[] actual)

Correct way to handle conditional styling in React

First, I agree with you as a matter of style - I would also (and do also) conditionally apply classes rather than inline styles. But you can use the same technique:

<div className={{completed ? "completed" : ""}}></div>

For more complex sets of state, accumulate an array of classes and apply them:

var classes = [];

if (completed) classes.push("completed");
if (foo) classes.push("foo");
if (someComplicatedCondition) classes.push("bar");

return <div className={{classes.join(" ")}}></div>;

How can I know when an EditText loses focus?

Have your Activity implement OnFocusChangeListener() if you want a factorized use of this interface, example:

public class Shops extends AppCompatActivity implements View.OnFocusChangeListener{

In your OnCreate you can add a listener for example:

editTextResearch.setOnFocusChangeListener(this);
editTextMyWords.setOnFocusChangeListener(this);
editTextPhone.setOnFocusChangeListener(this);

then android studio will prompt you to add the method from the interface, accept it... it will be like:

@Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
// todo your code here...
}

and as you've got a factorized code, you'll just have to do that:

@Override
public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) {
   if (hasFocus) {
        editTextResearch.setText("");
        editTextMyWords.setText("");
        editTextPhone.setText("");
    }
    if (!hasFocus){
        editTextResearch.setText("BlaBlaBla");
        editTextMyWords.setText(" One Two Tree!");
        editTextPhone.setText("\"your phone here:\"");
    }
}

anything you code in the !hasFocus is for the behavior of the item that loses focus, that should do the trick! But beware that in such state, the change of focus might overwrite the user's entries!

Getting multiple values with scanf()

Passable for getting multiple values with scanf()

int r,m,v,i,e,k;

scanf("%d%d%d%d%d%d",&r,&m,&v,&i,&e,&k);

DataTable: Hide the Show Entries dropdown but keep the Search box

If using Datatable > 1.1.0 then lengthChange option is what you need as below :

$('#example').dataTable( {
  "lengthChange": false
});

Remove blue border from css custom-styled button in Chrome

Until all modern browsers will start support css-selector :focus-visible,
the simplest and possibly best way to save accessibility is to remove this tricky focus only for mouse users and to save it for keyboard users:

1.Use this tiny polyfill (about 10kb): https://github.com/WICG/focus-visible
2.Add next code somewhere in your css:

.js-focus-visible :focus:not(.focus-visible) {
  outline: none;
}

Browser-support of css4-selector :focus-visible right now very weak:
https://caniuse.com/#search=focus-visible

Spark: Add column to dataframe conditionally

My bad, I had missed one part of the question.

Best, cleanest way is to use a UDF. Explanation within the code.

// create some example data...BY DataFrame
// note, third record has an empty string
case class Stuff(a:String,b:Int)
val d= sc.parallelize(Seq( ("a",1),("b",2),
     ("",3) ,("d",4)).map { x => Stuff(x._1,x._2)  }).toDF

// now the good stuff.
import org.apache.spark.sql.functions.udf
// function that returns 0 is string empty
val func = udf( (s:String) => if(s.isEmpty) 0 else 1 )
// create new dataframe with added column named "notempty"
val r = d.select( $"a", $"b", func($"a").as("notempty") )

    scala> r.show
+---+---+--------+
|  a|  b|notempty|
+---+---+--------+
|  a|  1|    1111|
|  b|  2|    1111|
|   |  3|       0|
|  d|  4|    1111|
+---+---+--------+

Getting a "This application is modifying the autolayout engine from a background thread" error?

I also encountered this problem, seeing a ton of these messages and stack traces being printed in the output, when I resized the window to a smaller size than its initial value. Spending a long time figuring out the problem, I thought I'd share the rather simple solution. I had once enabled Can Draw Concurrently on an NSTextView through IB. That tells AppKit that it can call the view's draw(_:) method from another thread. After disabling it, I no longer got any error messages. I didn't experience any problems before updating to macOS 10.14 Beta, but at the same time, I also started modifying the code to perform work with the text view.

Write a number with two decimal places SQL Server

Less aggressive compilation with CSS3 calc

There's a tidier way to include variables inside the escaped calc, as explained in this post: CSS3 calc() function doesn't work with Less #974

@variable: 2em;

body{ width: calc(~"100% - @{variable} * 2");}

By using the curly brackets you don't need to close and reopen the escaping quotes.

How can I wrap text in a label using WPF?

Often you cannot replace a Label with a TextBlock as you want to the use the Target property (which sets focus to the targeted control when using the keyboard e.g. ALT+C in the sample code below), as that's all a Label really offers over a TextBlock.

However, a Label uses a TextBlock to render text (if a string is placed in the Content property, which it typically is); therefore, you can add a style for TextBlock inside the Label like so:

<Label
    Content="_Content Text:"
    Target="{Binding ElementName=MyTargetControl}">
    <Label.Resources>
        <Style TargetType="TextBlock">
            <Setter Property="TextWrapping" Value="Wrap" />
        </Style>
    </Label.Resources>
 </Label>
 <CheckBox x:Name = "MyTargetControl" />

This way you get to keep the functionality of a Label whilst also being able to wrap the text.

Bootstrap full responsive navbar with logo or brand name text

If you want to achieve this (you can resize the window to see how it will look for mobile version), all you have to do is to have 2 logo images (1 for desktop and one for mobile) and display them depending of the enviroment using visible-xs and hidden-xs classes.

So i used something like this:

<img class="hidden-xs" src="http://placehold.it/150x50&text=Logo" alt="">
<img class="visible-xs" src="http://placehold.it/120x40&text=Logo" alt="">

And ofcourse, i styled the mobile logo using:

@media (max-width: 767px) {
    .navbar-brand {
        padding: 0;
    }

    .navbar-brand img {
        margin-top: 5px;
        margin-left: 5px;
    }
}

You can see all the code here. In case you need a text on mobile version insted of the logo, it's not a big deal. Just replace the logo with a <h1 class="visible-xs">AppName</h3> and change the style inside the media query like this:

@media (max-width: 767px) {
    .navbar-brand {
        padding: 0;
    }

    .navbar-brand h1{
        //here add your style depending of the position you want the text to be placed
    }
}

EDIT:

You need this conditions to make it work:

.navbar-toggle {
   margin: 23px 0;
}

.navbar-nav, .navbar-nav li, .navbar-nav li a {
  height: 80px;
  line-height: 80px;
}

.navbar-nav li a {
  padding-top: 0;
  padding-bottom:0;
}

    ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(1, columnNumber), Cells(LastRow, columnNumber)).Select
End Sub

Other commands you will need to get familiar with are copy and paste commands:

Sub CopyOneToTwo()
    SelectEntireColumn (1)
    Selection.Copy

    Sheets("sheet1").Select
    ActiveSheet.Range("B1").PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues
End Sub

Finally, you can reference worksheets in other workbooks by using the following syntax:

Dim book2
Set book2 = Workbooks.Open("C:\book2.xls")
book2.Worksheets("sheet1")

How to insert element as a first child?

What is the connection string for localdb for version 11

1) Requires .NET framework 4 updated to at least 4.0.2. If you have 4.0.2, then you should have

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319\SKUs\.NETFramework,Version=v4.0.2

If you have installed latest VS 2012 chances are that you already have 4.0.2. Just verify first.

2) Next you need to have an instance of LocalDb. By default you have an instance whose name is a single v character followed by the LocalDB release version number in the format xx.x. For example, v11.0 represents SQL Server 2012. Automatic instances are public by default. You can also have named instances which are private. Named instances provide isolation from other instances and can improve performance by reducing resource contention with other database users. You can check the status of instances using the SqlLocalDb.exe utility (run it from command line).

3) Next your connection string should look like:

"Server=(localdb)\\v11.0;Integrated Security=true;"

or

"Data Source=(localdb)\\test;Integrated Security=true;"

from your code. They both are the same. Notice the two \\ required because \v and \t means special characters. Also note that what appears after (localdb)\\ is the name of your LocalDb instance. v11.0 is the default public instance, test is something I have created manually which is private.

  1. If you have a database (.mdf file) already:

    "Server=(localdb)\\Test;Integrated Security=true;AttachDbFileName= myDbFile;"

  2. If you don't have a Sql Server database:

    "Server=(localdb)\\v11.0;Integrated Security=true;"

And you can create your own database programmatically:

a) to save it in the default location with default setting:

var query = "CREATE DATABASE myDbName;";

b) To save it in a specific location with your own custom settings:

// your db name
string dbName = "myDbName";

// path to your db files:
// ensure that the directory exists and you have read write permission.
string[] files = { Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, dbName + ".mdf"),
                   Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, dbName + ".ldf") };

// db creation query:
// note that the data file and log file have different logical names
var query = "CREATE DATABASE " + dbName +
    " ON PRIMARY" +
    " (NAME = " + dbName + "_data," +
    " FILENAME = '" + files[0] + "'," +
    " SIZE = 3MB," +
    " MAXSIZE = 10MB," +
    " FILEGROWTH = 10%)" +

    " LOG ON" +
    " (NAME = " + dbName + "_log," +
    " FILENAME = '" + files[1] + "'," +
    " SIZE = 1MB," +
    " MAXSIZE = 5MB," +
    " FILEGROWTH = 10%)" +
    ";";

And execute!

A sample table can be loaded into the database with something like:

 @"CREATE TABLE supportContacts
    (
        id int identity primary key,
        type varchar(20),
        details varchar(30)
    );
   INSERT INTO supportContacts
   (type, details)
   VALUES
   ('Email', '[email protected]'),
   ('Twitter', '@sqlfiddle');";

Note that SqlLocalDb.exe utility doesnt give you access to databases, you separately need sqlcmd utility which is sad..

EDIT: moved position of semicolon otherwise error would occur if code was copy/pasted

JQuery ajax call default timeout value

There doesn't seem to be a standardized default value. I have the feeling the default is 0, and the timeout event left totally dependent on browser and network settings.

For IE, there is a timeout property for XMLHTTPRequests here. It defaults to null, and it says the network stack is likely to be the first to time out (which will not generate an ontimeout event by the way).

Uploading Images to Server android

use below code it helps you....

        BitmapFactory.Options options = new BitmapFactory.Options();

        options.inSampleSize = 4;
        options.inPurgeable = true;
        Bitmap bm = BitmapFactory.decodeFile("your path of image",options);

        ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();

        bm.compress(Bitmap.CompressFormat.JPEG,40,baos);

        // bitmap object

        byteImage_photo = baos.toByteArray();

                    //generate base64 string of image

                   String encodedImage =Base64.encodeToString(byteImage_photo,Base64.DEFAULT);

  //send this encoded string to server

What is the difference between 127.0.0.1 and localhost

There is nothing different. One is easier to remember than the other. Generally, you define a name to associate with an IP address. You don't have to specify localhost for 127.0.0.1, you could specify any name you want.

How do I run .sh or .bat files from Terminal?

Based on IsmailS' comment the command which worked for me on OSX was:

sudo sh ./startup.sh

Virtualbox "port forward" from Guest to Host

That's not possible. localhost always defaults to the loopback device on the local operating system.
As your virtual machine runs its own operating system it has its own loopback device which you cannot access from the outside.

If you want to access it e.g. in a browser, connect to it using the local IP instead:

http://192.168.180.1:8000

This is just an example of course, you can find out the actual IP by issuing an ifconfig command on a shell in the guest operating system.

JSON string to JS object

You can use this library from JSON.org to translate your string into a JSON object.

var var1_obj = JSON.parse(var1);

Or you can use the jquery-json library as well.

var var1_obj = $.toJSON(var1);

Can someone explain how to append an element to an array in C programming?

If you have a code like int arr[10] = {0, 5, 3, 64}; , and you want to append or add a value to next index, you can simply add it by typing a[5] = 5.

The main advantage of doing it like this is you can add or append a value to an any index not required to be continued one, like if I want to append the value 8 to index 9, I can do it by the above concept prior to filling up before indices. But in python by using list.append() you can do it by continued indices.

How to convert JSON object to an Typescript array?

To convert any JSON to array, use the below code:

const usersJson: any[] = Array.of(res.json());

AngularJS - difference between pristine/dirty and touched/untouched

$pristine/$dirty tells you whether the user actually changed anything, while $touched/$untouched tells you whether the user has merely been there/visited.

This is really useful for validation. The reason for $dirty was always to avoid showing validation responses until the user has actually visited a certain control. But, by using only the $dirty property, the user wouldn't get validation feedback unless they actually altered the value. So, an $invalid field still wouldn't show the user a prompt if the user didn't change/interact with the value. If the user entirely ignored a required field, everything looked OK.

With Angular 1.3 and ng-touched, you can now set a particular style on a control as soon as the user has blurred, regardless of whether they actually edited the value or not.

Here's a CodePen that shows the difference in behavior.

'uint32_t' identifier not found error

I had to run project in VS2010 and I could not introduce any modifications in the code. My solution was to install vS2013 and in VS2010 point VC++ Directories->IncludeDirectories to Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\include. Then my project compiled without any issues.

Mysql where id is in array

Your query translates to:

SELECT name FROM users WHERE id IN ('Array');

Or something to that affect.

Try using prepared queries instead, something like:

$numbers = explode(',', $string);
$prepare = array_map(function(){ return '?'; }, $numbers);
$statement = mysqli_prepare($link , "SELECT name FROM users WHERE id IN ('".implode(',', $prepare)."')");
if($statement) {
   $ints = array_map(function(){ return 'i'; }, $numbers);
   call_user_func_array("mysqli_stmt_bind_param", array_merge(
      array($statement, implode('', $ints)), $numbers
   ));
   $results = mysqli_stmt_execute($statement);
   // do something with results
   // ...
}

Giving multiple URL patterns to Servlet Filter

In case you are using the annotation method for filter definition (as opposed to defining them in the web.xml), you can do so by just putting an array of mappings in the @WebFilter annotation:

/**
 * Filter implementation class LoginFilter
 */
@WebFilter(urlPatterns = { "/faces/Html/Employee","/faces/Html/Admin", "/faces/Html/Supervisor"})
public class LoginFilter implements Filter {
    ...

And just as an FYI, this same thing works for servlets using the servlet annotation too:

/**
 * Servlet implementation class LoginServlet
 */
@WebServlet({"/faces/Html/Employee", "/faces/Html/Admin", "/faces/Html/Supervisor"})
public class LoginServlet extends HttpServlet {
    ...

Format price in the current locale and currency

Create a date time with month and day only, no year

How about creating a timer with the next date?

In your timer callback you create the timer for the following year? DateTime has always a year value. What you want to express is a recurring time specification. This is another type which you would need to create. DateTime is always represents a specific date and time but not a recurring date.

When does SQLiteOpenHelper onCreate() / onUpgrade() run?

no such table found is mainly when you have not opened the SQLiteOpenHelper class with getwritabledata() and before this you also have to call make constructor with databasename & version. And OnUpgrade is called whenever there is upgrade value in version number given in SQLiteOpenHelper class.

Below is the code snippet (No such column found may be because of spell in column name):

public class database_db {
    entry_data endb;
    String file_name="Record.db";
    SQLiteDatabase sq;
    public database_db(Context c)
    {
        endb=new entry_data(c, file_name, null, 8);
    }
    public database_db open()
    {
        sq=endb.getWritableDatabase();
        return this;
    }
    public Cursor getdata(String table)
    {
        return sq.query(table, null, null, null, null, null, null);
    }
    public long insert_data(String table,ContentValues value)
    {
        return sq.insert(table, null, value);
    }
    public void close()
    {
        sq.close();
    }
    public void delete(String table)
    {
        sq.delete(table,null,null);
    }
}
class entry_data extends SQLiteOpenHelper
{

    public entry_data(Context context, String name, SQLiteDatabase.CursorFactory factory,
                      int version) {
        super(context, name, factory, version);
        // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub
    }

    @Override
    public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase sqdb) {
        // TODO Auto-generated method stub

        sqdb.execSQL("CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS 'YOUR_TABLE_NAME'(Column_1 text not null,Column_2 text not null);");

    }

    public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) {
          onCreate(db);
    }

}

How to display pdf in php

Simple way to display pdf files from database and we can download it.
$resume is pdf file name which comes from database.
../resume/filename is path of folder where your file is stored.

<a href="../resumes/<?php echo $resume; ?>"/><?php echo $resume; ?></a>

Sequelize OR condition object

See the docs about querying.

It would be:

I think to add timestamp to every record and get the latest. In this situation you can get any ids, pack rows and other ops.

How do you use MySQL's source command to import large files in windows

With xampp I think you need to use the full path at the command line, something like this, perhaps:

C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysql -u {username} -p {databasename} < file_name.sql

How can I align all elements to the left in JPanel?

The easiest way I've found to place objects on the left is using FlowLayout.

JPanel panel = new JPanel(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT));

adding a component normally to this panel will place it on the left

How to get folder directory from HTML input type "file" or any other way?

Stumbled on this page as well, and then found out this is possible with just javascript (no plugins like ActiveX or Flash), but just in chrome:

https://plus.google.com/+AddyOsmani/posts/Dk5UhZ6zfF3

Basically, they added support for a new attribute on the file input element "webkitdirectory". You can use it like this:

<input type="file" id="ctrl" webkitdirectory directory multiple/>

It allows you to select directories. The multiple attribute is a good fallback for browsers that support multiple file selection but not directory selection.

When you select a directory the files are available through the dom object for the control (document.getElementById('ctrl')), just like they are with the multiple attribute. The browsers adds all files in the selected directory to that list recursively.

You can already add the directory attribute as well in case this gets standardized at some point (couldn't find any info regarding that)

Custom Listview Adapter with filter Android

One thing I've noticed is that whenever you are editing the list (adding items for example) as well as filtering for it, then inside the @Override getView method, you shouldn't use filteredData.get(position), as it throws an IndexOutOfBounds exception.

Instead, what worked for me, was using the getItem(position) method, which belongs to the ArrayAdapter class.
