I just encountered this problem myself and found that Ubuntu 14.04 uses Upstart instead of Systemd, so systemctl commands will not work. This changed in 15.04, so one way around this would be to update your ubuntu install.

If this is not an option for you (it's not for me right now), you need to find the Upstart command that does what you need to do.

For enable, the generic looks to be the following:

You forgot about Action-Domain-Responder (ADR).

As explained in some graphics above, there's a direct relation/link between the Model and the View in MVC. An action is performed on the Controller, which will execute an action on the Model. That action in the Model, will trigger a reaction in the View. The View, is always updated when the Model's state changes.

Some people keep forgetting, that MVC was created in the late 70", and that the Web was only created in late 80"/early 90". MVC wasn't originally created for the Web, but for Desktop applications instead, where the Controller, Model and View would co-exist together.

Because we use web frameworks (eg:. Laravel) that still use the same naming conventions (model-view-controller), we tend to think that it must be MVC, but it's actually something else.

Instead, have a look at Action-Domain-Responder. In ADR, the Controller gets an Action, which will perform an operation in the Model/Domain. So far, the same. The difference is, it then collects that operation's response/data, and pass it to a Responder (eg:. view()) for rendering. When a new action is requested on the same component, the Controller is called again, and the cycle repeats itself. In ADR, there's no connection between the Model/Domain and the View (Reponser's response).

Note: Wikipedia states that "Each ADR action, however, is represented by separate classes or closures.". This is not necessarily true. Several Actions can be in the same Controller, and the pattern is still the same.

Python 3: logging

Instead of using the basic print() function, the more flexible logging module can be used to log the exception. The logging module offers a lot extra functionality, e.g. logging messages into a given log file, logging messages with timestamps and additional information about where the logging happened. The order in terms of verbosity, from least to most is ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG, VERBOSE. Verbose should never be compiled into an application except during development. Debug logs are compiled in but stripped at runtime. Error, warning and info logs are always kept.

There's a general point to be made about such optimizations.

The optimization you get is proportional to the amount of time the program counter is actually in that code.

If you sample the program counter, you will find out where it spends its time, and that is usually in a tiny part of the code, and often in library routines you have no control over.

Only if you find it spending much time in the heap-allocation of your objects will it be noticeably faster to stack-allocate them.

The issue could be that the VM is connected to the network via NAT. You need to set the network adapter of the VM to a bridged connection so that the VM will get it's own IP within the actual network and not on the LAN on the host.

To tell the long story short this field is used to check if serialized data can be deserialized correctly. Serialization and deserialization are often made by different copies of program - for example server converts object to string and client converts received string to object. This field tells that both operates with same idea about what this object is. This field helps when:

• you have many different copies of your program in different places (like 1 server and 100 clients). If you will change your object, alter your version number and forget to update one this clients, it will know that he is not capable of deserialization

• you have stored your data in some file and later on you try to open it with updated version of your program with modified object - you will know that this file is not compatible if you keep your version right

When is it important?

Most obvious - if you add some fields to your object, older versions will not be able to use them because they do not have these fields in their object structure.

Less obvious - When you deserialize object, fields that where not present in string will be kept as NULL. If you have removed field from your object, older versions will keep this field as allways-NULL that can lead to misbehavior if older versions rely on data in this field (anyway you have created it for something, not just for fun :-) )

Least obvious - Sometimes you change the idea you put in some field's meaning. For example when you are 12 years old you mean "bicycle" under "bike", but when you are 18 you mean "motorcycle" - if your friends will invite you to "bike ride across city" and you will be the only one who came on bicycle, you will undestand how important it is to keep same meaning across fields :-)

In Excel for Mac at least, you can do this by saving as "CSV for MS DOS" which adds double quotes for any field which needs them.

Elements that are not being rendered (be it through visibility: hidden, display: none, opacity: 0.0, whatever) will not indicate focus. The browser will not draw a focus border around nothing.

If you want the text to be focusable, that's completely doable. You can wrap the whole thing in an element that can receive focus (for example, a hyperlink), or allow another tag to have focus using the tabindex property:

In this case, the <label> tag above is actually receiving focus and everything within it will have a focus border when it's in focus.

I do question what your goal is. If you're using a hidden checkbox to internally track some sort of state, you might be better off using a <input type="hidden" /> tag instead.

Hmmm...

As Darin said, you can specify a higher connection timeout value, but I doubt that's really the issue.

When you get connection timeouts, it's typically a problem with one of the following:

1. Network configuration - slow connection between your web server/dev box and the SQL server. Increasing the timeout may correct this, but it'd be wise to investigate the underlying problem.

2. Connection string. I've seen issues where an incorrect username/password will, for some reason, give a timeout error instead of a real error indicating "access denied." This shouldn't happen, but such is life.

3. Connection String 2: If you're specifying the name of the server incorrectly, or incompletely (for instance, mysqlserver instead of mysqlserver.webdomain.com), you'll get a timeout. Can you ping the server using the server name exactly as specified in the connection string from the command line?

4. Connection string 3 : If the server name is in your DNS (or hosts file), but the pointing to an incorrect or inaccessible IP, you'll get a timeout rather than a machine-not-found-ish error.

5. The query you're calling is timing out. It can look like the connection to the server is the problem, but, depending on how your app is structured, you could be making it all the way to the stage where your query is executing before the timeout occurs.

6. Connection leaks. How many processes are running? How many open connections? I'm not sure if raw ADO.NET performs connection pooling, automatically closes connections when necessary ala Enterprise Library, or where all that is configured. This is probably a red herring. When working with WCF and web services, though, I've had issues with unclosed connections causing timeouts and other unpredictable behavior.

Things to try:

1. Do you get a timeout when connecting to the server with SQL Management Studio? If so, network config is likely the problem. If you do not see a problem when connecting with Management Studio, the problem will be in your app, not with the server.

2. Run SQL Profiler, and see what's actually going across the wire. You should be able to tell if you're really connecting, or if a query is the problem.

3. Run your query in Management Studio, and see how long it takes.

Know ye all persons by these presents that you should not confuse "playing around on your own" with "implementing a standard." Yeesh.

The most correct way is to use HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/App_Data");. This means you can only retrieve the path from a method where the HttpContext is available. It makes sense: the App_Data directory is a web project folder structure [1].

If you need the path to ~/App_Data from a class where you don't have access to the HttpContext you can always inject a provider interface using your IoC container:

Use android:gravity="center" in TextView instead of layout_gravity.

I personally prefer to use as few not built-in bash commands as I can (to reduce the number of expensive fork and exec syscalls). To sort by date the ls needed to be called. But using of head is not really necessary. I use the following one-liner (works only on systems supporting name pipes):

Packages are a way of structuring Python’s module namespace by using “dotted module names”. For example, the module name A.B designates a submodule named B in a package named A.

When importing the package, Python searches through the directories on sys.path looking for the package subdirectory.

The __init__.py files are required to make Python treat the directories as containing packages; this is done to prevent directories with a common name, such as string, from unintentionally hiding valid modules that occur later on the module search path.

SECOND, for the "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'Soft'" error caused by from ...Mans import man1 in man1test.py, the documented solution to that is to add man1.py to sys.path since Mans is outside the MansTest package. See The Module Search Path from the Python documentation. But if you don't want to modify sys.path directly, you can also modify PYTHONPATH:

sys.path is initialized from these locations:

• The directory containing the input script (or the current directory when no file is specified).
• PYTHONPATH (a list of directory names, with the same syntax as the shell variable PATH).
• The installation-dependent default.

THIRD, for from ...MansTest.SoftLib import Soft which you said "was to facilitate the aforementioned import statement in man1.py", that's now how imports work. If you want to import Soft.SoftLib in man1.py, you have to setup man1.py to find Soft.SoftLib and import it there directly.

With that said, here's how I got it to work.

As a suggestion, maybe re-think the purpose of those SoftLib files. Is it some sort of "bridge" between man1.py and man1test.py? The way your files are setup right now, I don't think it's going to work as you expect it to be. Also, it's a bit confusing for the code-under-test (man1.py) to be importing stuff from under the test folder (MansTest).

This is possible, but you'll have to build it manually from the location object:

location.protocol + '//' + location.host + location.pathname

I think it is confusing to think of it in terms of negative numbers. Since it is a logarithm think of the negative values the same way you think of powers of ten. 10^3 = 1000 while 10^-3 = 0.001.

When I think of it like this I find that it's easier to see that the more negative the dBm value then the farther to the right of the decimal the actual power value is.

When it comes to mobile networks, it not so much that they aren't powerful enough, rather it is that they are more sensitive. When you see receivers specs with dBm far into the negative values, then what you are seeing is more sensitive equipment.

Normally you would want your transmitter to be powerful (further in to the positives) and your receiver to be sensitive (further in to the negatives).

I was looking for a inline editing solution and I found a plunker that seemed promising, but it didn't work for me out of the box. After some tinkering with the code I got it working. Kudos to the person who made the initial effort to code this piece.

for me, removing .git/info/ref kick things going.There shouldn't be a ref file when git is not running. But in my case there were one for whatever reason and caused the problem.

Removing the file will not remove any of your local commits or branches.

When the JVM tries to run your application, it calls your main method statically; something like this:

LinkedList.main();

That means there is no instance of your LinkedList class. In order to call your toString() method, you can create a new instance of your LinkedList class.

forward():

A hook is a means of executing custom code (function) either before, after, or instead of existing code. For example, a function may be written to "hook" into the login process in order to execute a Captcha function before continuing on to the normal login process.

Adding a reference to System.Net.Http.Formatting.dll may cause DLL mismatch issues. Right now, System.Net.Http.Formatting.dll appears to reference version 4.5.0.0 of Newtonsoft.Json.DLL, whereas the latest version is 6.0.0.0. That means you'll need to also add a binding redirect to avoid a .NET Assembly exception if you reference the latest Newtonsoft NuGet package or DLL:

MongoDB will (at least seem) to use up a lot of available memory, but it actually leaves it up to the OS's VMM to tell it to release the memory (see Caching in the MongoDB docs.)

You should be able to release any and all memory by restarting MongoDB.

However, to some extent MongoDB isn't really "using" the memory.

Depending on the platform you may see the mapped files as memory in the process, but this is not strictly correct. Unix top may show way more memory for mongod than is really appropriate. The Operating System (the virtual memory manager specifically, depending on OS) manages the memory where the "Memory Mapped Files" reside. This number is usually shown in a program like "free -lmt".

It is called "cached" memory.

The roundabout is to employ an On Error Resume Next and check the Err.Number right after the LBound(arr1)/UBound(arr1) call - it should be 0 if the array is initialized, otherwise non-zero. As there is some VBA built-in misbehavior, the further check of array's limits is needed. Detailed explanation may everybody read at Chip Pearson's website (which should be celebrated as a Mankind Treasure Of VBA Wisdom ...)

I faced the same problem, but when i was lokking for php.ini and php.exe i found php.exe at C:\UwAmp\bin\php\php-5.4.15 when php.ini at C:\UwAmp\bin\apache. I just copy php.ini at C:\UwAmp\bin\php\php-5.4.15 and Uncomment the line extension=php_openssl.dll and it fixed.

There's a solution for multi-line text with pure css. It's called line-clamp, but it only works in webkit browsers. Almost all of the python files should live in their respective folders (C:\Python26 and C:\Python27). Some installers (ActiveState) will also associate .py* files and add the python path to %PATH% with an install if you tick the "use this as the default installation" box.

I encounted this error and found that it was because the "strict" parameter was set to true in the tsconfig.json file. Just set it "false" (obviously). In my case I had generated the tsconfig file from the cmd prompt and simply missed the "strict" parameter, which was located further down in the file.

I have got used to using "DoEvents" more often, but still tend to set things running without really double checking a sure stop method.

Then, today, having done it again, I thought, "Well just wait for the end in 3 hours", and started paddling around in the ribbon. Earlier, I had noticed in the "View" section of the Ribbon a "Macros" pull down, and thought I have a look to see if I could see my interminable Macro running....

I now realise you can also get this up using Alt-F8.

Then I thought, well what if I "Step into" a different Macro, would that rescue me? It did :-) It also works if you step into your running Macro (but you still lose where you're upto), unless you are a very lazy programmer like me and declare lots of "Global" variables, in which case the Global data is retained :-)

There are in fact 3 questions in your question :

• Define frontend, middle and back end
• How and when do they overlap ?
• Their associated usual bottlenecks.

What JB King has described is correct, but it is a particular, simple version, where in fact he mapped front, middle and bacn to an MVC layer. He mapped M to the back, V to the front, and C to the middle.

For many people, it is just fine, since they come from the ugly world where even MVC was not applied, and you could have direct DB calls in a view.

However in real, complex web applications, you indeed have two or three different layers, called front, middle and back. Each of them may have an associated database and a controller.

The front-end will be visible by the end-user. It should not be confused with the front-office, which is the UI for parameters and administration of the front. The front-end will usually be some kind of CMS or e-commerce Platform (Magento, etc.)

The middle-end is not compulsory and is where the business logics is. It will be based on a PIM, a MDM tool, or some kind of custom database where you enrich your produts or your articles (for CMS). It'll also be the place where you code business functions that need to be shared between differents frontends (for instance between the PC frontend and the API-based mobile application). Sometimes, an ESB or tool like ActiveMQ will be your middle-end

The back-end will be a 3rd layer, surrouding your source database or your ERP. It may be jsut the API wrting to and reading from your ERP. It may be your supplier DB, if you are doing e-commerce. In fact, it really depends on web projects, but it is always a central repository. It'll be accessed either through a DB call, through an API, or an Hibernate layer, or a full-featured back-end application

This description means that answering the other 2 questions is not possible in this thread, as bottlenecks really depend on what your 3 ends contain : what JB King wrote remains true for simple MVC architectures

at the time the question was asked (5 years ago), maybe the MVC pattern was not yet so widely adopted. Now, there is absolutely no reason why the MVC pattern would not be followed and a view would be tied to DB calls. If you read the question "Are there cases where they MUST overlap, and frontend/backend cannot be separated?" in a broader sense, with 3 different components, then there times when the 3 layers architecture is useless of course. Think of a simple personal blog, you'll not need to pull external data or poll RabbitMQ queues.

You need to make the x-factor into an ordered factor with the ordering you want, e.g

The system tables/views of the server itself (SYSCAT.TABLES, dbo.sysindexes, ALL_TABLES, information_schema.columns, etc.) are almost always plural. I guess for the sake of consistency I'd follow their lead.

If your administrator changed your password, and Windows 10 still stores your old password you will not be asked for a new password. Windows 10 will use the stored old password, and authentication will fail.

You can delete your old password by

1. Click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials
2. Windows credentials
3. Modify or delete the stored password

If you delete a password, when you try to use SVN, you will be asked for the new password.

The first example is more "easy to read".

It's written to handle async loading of JS but you might want to sync load this script first unless you're minifying. I've found it useful in development.

Modern browsers also support async loading of scripts which further enhances the experience. Support for async means multiple scripts can be downloaded simultaneously all while still rendering the page. Just watch out when depending on other scripts loaded asynchronously or use a minifier or something like browserify to handle dependencies.

From the documentation:

The $.browser property is deprecated in jQuery 1.3, and its functionality may be moved to a team-supported plugin in a future release of jQuery.

So, yes, it is deprecated, but your existing implementations will continue to work. If the functionality is removed, it will likely be easily accessible using a plugin.

As to whether there is an alternative... The answer is "yes, probably". It is far, far better to do feature detection using $.support rather than browser detection: detect the actual feature you need, not the browser that provides it. Most important features that vary from browser to browser are detected with that.

Update 16 February 2013: In jQuery 1.9, this feature was removed (docs). It is far better not to use it. If you really, really must use its functionality, you can restore it with the jQuery Migrate plugin.

$x is always a scalar. The hint is the sigil $: any variable (or dereferencing of some other type) starting with $ is a scalar. (See perldoc perldata for more about data types.)

A reference is just a particular type of scalar. The built-in function ref will tell you what kind of reference it is. On the other hand, if you have a blessed reference, ref will only tell you the package name the reference was blessed into, not the actual core type of the data (blessed references can be hashrefs, arrayrefs or other things). You can use Scalar::Util 's reftype will tell you what type of reference it is:

I think it is so it can keep consistency with the available options used when settings multiple css styles in one function call through the use of an object, for example...

as you can see the property are not specified as strings. JQuery also supports using string if you still wanted to use the dash, or for properties that perhaps cannot be set without the dash, so the following still works...

without the quotes here, the javascript would not parse correctly as property names cannot have a dash in them.

EDIT: It would appear that JQuery is not actually making the distinction itsleft, instead it is just passing the property specified for the DOM to care about, most likely with style[propertyName];

DataContractAttribute is in System.Runtime.Serialization namespace and you should reference System.Runtime.Serialization.dll. It's only available in .Net >= 3

I know it's not your specific problem, but I faced the same symptoms when I configured a static IP address in the network adapter settings and forgot to enter a "Default Gateway".

Leaving the field blank, the network icon shows an Internet connection, and I could ping internal servers but not external ones, so I assumed it was a DNS problem. NSLookup still worked, but of course, ping failed to find the server (again, seemed like a DNS issue.) Anyway, one more thing to check. =P

Similar to the accepted answer, the following code block might come in handy if you also want to make sure to create any (non-existent) folders in the path to the destination.

Just an observation about the markup The markup form in prior versions of HTML provided an anchor point. The markup forms in HTML5 using the id attribute, while mostly equivalent, require an element to identify, almost all of which are normally expected to contain content.

An empty span or div could be used, for instance, but this usage looks and smells degenerate.

One thought is to use the wbr element for this purpose. The wbr has an empty content model and simply declares that a line break is possible; this is still a slightly gratuitous use of a markup tag, but much less so than gratuitous document divisions or empty text spans.

You have to first declare delegate's type because delegates are strongly typed:

If they really absolutely have to remain unsorted (which they really don't.. and if you're dealing with hundreds of thousands of elements then I have to ask why you would be comparing vectors like this), you can hack together a compare method which works with unsorted arrays.

The only way I though of to do that was to create a temporary vector3 and pretend to do a set_intersection by adding all elements of vector1 to it, then doing a search for each individual element of vector2 in vector3 and removing it if found. I know that sounds terrible, but that's why I'm not writing any C++ standard libraries anytime soon.

Really, though, just sort them first.

I tried @maurice cruz answer and was unable to get the actual drivers. Then I found this post which had a download for global LG driver (not sure if it covers all, but many) for their devices. After installing, then toggling usb debugging off then back on, I was prompted with RSA acceptance.

You can use the createQuery method (direct in the controller) :
