Importing larger sql files into MySQL

On item 1.16 of phpMyAdmin they say:

1.16 I cannot upload big dump files (memory, HTTP or timeout problems).

Starting with version 2.7.0, the import engine has been re–written and these problems should not occur. If possible, upgrade your phpMyAdmin to the latest version to take advantage of the new import features.

The first things to check (or ask your host provider to check) are the values of upload_max_filesize, memory_limit and post_max_size in the php.ini configuration file. All of these three settings limit the maximum size of data that can be submitted and handled by PHP. One user also said that post_max_size and memory_limit need to be larger than upload_max_filesize. There exist several workarounds if your upload is too big or your hosting provider is unwilling to change the settings:

Look at the $cfg['UploadDir'] feature. This allows one to upload a file to the server via scp, ftp, or your favorite file transfer method. PhpMyAdmin is then able to import the files from the temporary directory. More information is available in the Configuration of this document.

Using a utility (such as BigDump) to split the files before uploading. We cannot support this or any third party applications, but are aware of users having success with it.

If you have shell (command line) access, use MySQL to import the files directly. You can do this by issuing the “source” command from within MySQL:

source filename.sql;

What characters are valid in a URL?

All the gory details can be found in the current RFC on the topic: RFC 3986 (Uniform Resource Identifier (URI): Generic Syntax)

Based on this related answer, you are looking at a list that looks like: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, -, ., _, ~, :, /, ?, #, [, ], @, !, $, &, ', (, ), *, +, ,, ;, %, and =. Everything else must be url-encoded. Also, some of these characters can only exist in very specific spots in a URI and outside of those spots must be url-encoded (e.g. % can only be used in conjunction with url encoding as in %20), the RFC has all of these specifics.

How do I run a node.js app as a background service?

If you are using pm2, you can use it with autorestart set to false:

$ pm2 ecosystem

This will generate a sample ecosystem.config.js:

module.exports = {
  apps: [
    {
      script: './scripts/companies.js',
      autorestart: false,
    },
    {
      script: './scripts/domains.js',
      autorestart: false,
    },
    {
      script: './scripts/technologies.js',
      autorestart: false,
    },
  ],
}

$ pm2 start ecosystem.config.js

if checkbox is checked, do this

Check this code:

<!-- script to check whether checkbox checked or not using prop function -->
<script>
$('#change_password').click(function(){
    if($(this).prop("checked") == true){ //can also use $(this).prop("checked") which will return a boolean.
        alert("checked");
    }
    else if($(this).prop("checked") == false){
        alert("Checkbox is unchecked.");
    }
});
</script>

Nullable DateTime conversion

You might want to do it like this:

DateTime? lastPostDate =  (DateTime?)(reader.IsDbNull(3) ? null : reader[3]);

The problem you are having is that the ternary operator wants a viable cast between the left and right sides. And null can't be cast to DateTime.

Note the above works because both sides of the ternary are object's. The object is explicitly cast to DateTime? which works: as long as reader[3] is in fact a date.

ModelState.AddModelError - How can I add an error that isn't for a property?

How do I interpret precision and scale of a number in a database?

Numeric precision refers to the maximum number of digits that are present in the number.

ie 1234567.89 has a precision of 9

Numeric scale refers to the maximum number of decimal places

ie 123456.789 has a scale of 3

Thus the maximum allowed value for decimal(5,2) is 999.99

Loading basic HTML in Node.js

we can load the html document with connect frame work. I have placed my html document and the related images in the public folder of my project where the below code and node modules present.

//server.js
var http=require('http');
var connect=require('connect');

var app = connect()
  .use(connect.logger('dev'))
  .use(connect.static('public'))
  .use(function(req, res){
   res.end('hello world\n');
 })

http.createServer(app).listen(3000);

I have tried the readFile() method of fs, but it fails to load the images, that's why i have used the connect framework.

How can I import a large (14 GB) MySQL dump file into a new MySQL database?

I'm posting my finding in a few of the responses I've seen that didn't mention what I ran into, and apprently this would even defeat BigDump, so check it:

I was trying to load a 500 meg dump via Linux command line and kept getting the "Mysql server has gone away" errors. Settings in my.conf didn't help. What turned out to fix it is...I was doing one big extended insert like:

    insert into table (fields) values (a record, a record, a record, 500 meg of data);

I needed to format the file as separate inserts like this:

    insert into table (fields) values (a record);
    insert into table (fields) values (a record);
    insert into table (fields) values (a record);
    Etc.

And to generate the dump, I used something like this and it worked like a charm:

    SELECT
        id,
        status,
        email
    FROM contacts
    INTO OUTFILE '/tmp/contacts.sql'
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    LINES STARTING BY "INSERT INTO contacts (id,status,email) values ("
    TERMINATED BY ');\n'

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I encountered the same problem, probably when I uninstalled it and tried to install it again. This happens because of the database file containing login details is still stored in the pc, and the new password will not match the older one. So you can solve this by just uninstalling mysql, and then removing the left over folder from the C: drive (or wherever you must have installed).

Cannot deserialize instance of object out of START_ARRAY token in Spring Webservice

Your json contains an array, but you're trying to parse it as an object. This error occurs because objects must start with {.

You have 2 options:

  1. You can get rid of the ShopContainer class and use Shop[] instead

    ShopContainer response  = restTemplate.getForObject(
        url, ShopContainer.class);

    replace with

    Shop[] response  = restTemplate.getForObject(url, Shop[].class);

    and then make your desired object from it.

  2. You can change your server to return an object instead of a list

    return mapper.writerWithDefaultPrettyPrinter().writeValueAsString(list);

    replace with

    return mapper.writerWithDefaultPrettyPrinter().writeValueAsString(
        new ShopContainer(list));

IE 8: background-size fix

I created jquery.backgroundSize.js: a 1.5K jquery plugin that can be used as a IE8 fallback for "cover" and "contain" values. Have a look at the demo.

Solving your problem could be as simple as:

Push existing project into Github

Hate to add yet another answer, but my particular scenario isn't quite covered here. I had a local repo with a history of changes I wanted to preserve, and a non-empty repo created for me on Github (that is, with the default README.md). Yes, you can always re-create the Github repo as an empty repo, but in my case someone else has the permissions to create this particular repo, and I didn't want to trouble him, if there was an easy workaround.

In this scenario, you will encounter this error when you attempt to git push after setting the remote origin:

 ! [rejected] master -> master (fetch first)
error: failed to push some refs to '[email protected]:<my repo>.git'
hint: Updates were rejected because the remote contains work that you do
hint: not have locally. This is usually caused by another repository pushing
hint: to the same ref. You may want to first integrate the remote changes
hint: (e.g., 'git pull ...') before pushing again.
hint: See the 'Note about fast-forwards' in 'git push --help' for details.

As the error indicates, I needed to do a git pull after setting the remote origin, but I needed to specify the --allow-unrelated-histories option. Without this option, git pull complains warning: no common commits.

So here is the exact sequence of commands that worked for me:

git remote add origin <github repo url>
cp README.md README.md-save
git pull origin master --allow-unrelated-histories
mv README.md-save README.md
git commit -a
git push

Detect if a Form Control option button is selected in VBA

You should remove .Value from all option buttons because option buttons don't hold the resultant value, the option group control does. If you omit .Value then the default interface will report the option button status, as you are expecting. You should write all relevant code under commandbutton_click events because whenever the commandbutton is clicked the option button action will run.

If you want to run action code when the optionbutton is clicked then don't write an if loop for that.

EXAMPLE:

Sub CommandButton1_Click
    If OptionButton1 = true then
        (action code...)
    End if
End sub

Sub OptionButton1_Click
    (action code...)
End sub

Equal height rows in CSS Grid Layout

Short Answer

If the goal is to create a grid with equal height rows, where the tallest cell in the grid sets the height for all rows, here's a quick and simple solution:

  • Set the container to grid-auto-rows: 1fr

How it works

Grid Layout provides a unit for establishing flexible lengths in a grid container. This is the fr unit. It is designed to distribute free space in the container and is somewhat analogous to the flex-grow property in flexbox.

If you set all rows in a grid container to 1fr, let's say like this:

grid-auto-rows: 1fr;

... then all rows will be equal height.

It doesn't really make sense off-the-bat because fr is supposed to distribute free space. And if several rows have content with different heights, then when the space is distributed, some rows would be proportionally smaller and taller.

Except, buried deep in the grid spec is this little nugget:

7.2.3. Flexible Lengths: the fr unit

...

When the available space is infinite (which happens when the grid container’s width or height is indefinite), flex-sized (fr) grid tracks are sized to their contents while retaining their respective proportions.

The used size of each flex-sized grid track is computed by determining the max-content size of each flex-sized grid track and dividing that size by the respective flex factor to determine a “hypothetical 1fr size”.

The maximum of those is used as the resolved 1fr length (the flex fraction), which is then multiplied by each grid track’s flex factor to determine its final size.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, when dealing with a dynamically-sized grid (e.g., the height is indefinite), grid tracks (rows, in this case) are sized to their contents.

The height of each row is determined by the tallest (max-content) grid item.

The maximum height of those rows becomes the length of 1fr.

That's how 1fr creates equal height rows in a grid container.

Why flexbox isn't an option

As noted in the question, equal height rows are not possible with flexbox.

Flex items can be equal height on the same row, but not across multiple rows.

This behavior is defined in the flexbox spec:

6. Flex Lines

In a multi-line flex container, the cross size of each line is the minimum size necessary to contain the flex items on the line.

In other words, when there are multiple lines in a row-based flex container, the height of each line (the "cross size") is the minimum height necessary to contain the flex items on the line.

DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension

I appreciate this is part of your extensions, but I see this message in all sorts of places these days, and I hate it: how I fixed it (EDIT: this fix seems to massively speed up the browser too) was by adding a dead file

  1. physically create the file it wants\ where it wants, as a blank file (EG: "popper.min.js.map")

  2. put this in the blank file

    {
     "version": 1,
     "mappings": "",
     "sources": [],
     "names": [],
     "file": "popper.min.js"
    }

  3. make sure that "file": "*******" in the content of the blank file MATCHES the name of your file ******.map (minus the word ".map")

(EDIT: I suspect you could physically add this dead file method to the addon yourself)

How to make external HTTP requests with Node.js

node-http-proxy is a great solution as was suggested by @hross above. If you're not deadset on using node, we use NGINX to do the same thing. It works really well with node. We use it for example to process SSL requests before forwarding them to node. It can also handle cacheing and forwarding routes. Yay!

How to concatenate two IEnumerable<T> into a new IEnumerable<T>?

Yes, LINQ to Objects supports this with Enumerable.Concat:

var together = first.Concat(second);

NB: Should first or second be null you would receive a ArgumentNullException. To avoid this & treat nulls as you would an empty set, use the null coalescing operator like so:

var together = (first ?? Enumerable.Empty<string>()).Concat(second ?? Enumerable.Empty<string>()); //amending `<string>` to the appropriate type

The original code is mostly there, but you need btn-groups around each button. In Bootstrap 3 you can use a btn-toolbar and a btn-group to get the job done; I haven't done BS4 but it has similar constructs.

  <div class="btn-group" role="group">

  </div>
  <div class="btn-group" role="group">
    <button class="btn btn-default">Button 2</button>
  </div>
</div>

Not officially, no. It's just Objective-C though and the compiler's open source - you could probably get the headers and compile it and somehow get the binary on the device. Another option is compiling on the device. All these options will require jailbreaking though.

How to get Maven project version to the bash command line

Either you have mvn give you the answer (as most answers suggest), or you extract the answer from the pom.xml. The only drawback of the second approach is that you can very easily extract the value of the <version/> tag, but it will be meaningful only if it's literal, that is, not a Maven property. I chose this approach anyway because:

  • mvn is way to verbose and I simply don't like filtering its output.
  • Starting mvn is very slow compared to reading the pom.xml.
  • I always use literal values in <version/>.

mvn-version is a zsh shell script that uses xmlstarlet to read the pom.xml and print the version of the project (if it exists) or the version of the parent project (if it exists):

$ mvn-version .
1.0.0-SNAPSHOT

The advantage is that it's way quicker than running mvn:

$ time mvn-version .
1.1.0-SNAPSHOT
mvn-version .  0.01s user 0.01s system 75% cpu 0.019 total

$ time mvn org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-help-plugin:2.1.1:evaluate \
> -Dexpression=project.version
mvn org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-help-plugin:2.1.1:evaluate   4.17s user 0.21s system 240% cpu 1.823 total

The difference on my machine is greater than two orders of magnitude.

Set multiple system properties Java command line

Answer is NO. You might have seen an example where somebody would have set something like :

-DArguments=a=1,b=2,c=3,d=4,e=cow

Then the application would parse value of Arguments property string to get individual values. In your main you can get the key values as(Assuming input format is guaranteed):

String line = System.getProperty("Arguments");
if(line != null) {
  String str[] = line.split(",");
    for(int i=1;i<str.length;i++){
        String arr[] = str[i].split("=");
        System.out.println("Key = " + arr[0]);
        System.out.println("Value = " +  arr[1]);

Also, the -D should be before the main class or the jar file in the java command line. Example : java -DArguments=a=1,b=2,c=3,d=4,e=cow MainClass

Python Error: "ValueError: need more than 1 value to unpack"

Probably you didn't provide an argument on the command line. In that case, sys.argv only contains one value, but it would have to have two in order to provide values for both user_name and script.

Bootstrap full responsive navbar with logo or brand name text

The placeholder image you're including has a height of 50px. It is wrapped in an anchor (.navbar-brand) with a padding-top of 15px and a height of 50px. That's why the placeholder logo flows out of the bar. Try including a smaller image or play with the anchor's padding by assigning a class or an id to it wich you can reference in your css.

EDIT Or remove the static height: 50px from .navbar-brand. Your navbar will then take the height of its highest child.

h3 in bootstrap by default has a padding-top of 20px. Again, it is wrapped with that padding-top: 15px anchor. That's why it's not vertically centered like you want it. You could give the h3 a class or and id that resets the margin-top. And the same you could do with the padding of the anchor.

Here's something to play with: http://jsbin.com/jelec/1/edit?html,output

How do I check if there are duplicates in a flat list?

I found this to do the best performance because it short-circuit the operation when the first duplicated it found, then this algorithm has time and space complexity O(n) where n is the list's length:

def has_duplicated_elements(iterable):
    """ Given an `iterable`, return True if there are duplicated entries. """
    clean_elements_set = set()
    clean_elements_set_add = clean_elements_set.add

    for possible_duplicate_element in iterable:

        if possible_duplicate_element in clean_elements_set:
            return True

        else:
            clean_elements_set_add( possible_duplicate_element )

    return False

Why can't I have "public static const string S = "stuff"; in my Class?

const is similar to static we can access both varables with class name but diff is static variables can be modified and const can not.

How can I remove the outline around hyperlinks images?

I'm unsure if this is still an issue for this individual, but I know it can be a pain for many people in general. Granted, the above solutions will work in some instances, but if you are, for example, using a CMS like WordPress, and the outlines are being generated by either a plugin or theme, you will most likely not have this issue resolved, depending on how you are adding the CSS.

I'd suggest having a separate StyleSheet (for example, use 'Lazyest StyleSheet' plugin), and enter the following CSS within it to override the existing plugin (or theme)-forced style:

a:hover,a:active,a:link {
    outline: 0 !important;
    text-decoration: none !important;
}

Adding '!important' to the specific rule will make this a priority to generate even if the rule may be elsewhere (whether it's in a plugin, theme, etc.).

This helps save time when developing. Sure, you can dig for the original source, but when you're working on many projects, or need to perform updates (where your changes can be overridden [not suggested!]), or add new plugins or themes, this is the best recourse to save time.

Hope this helps...Peace!

How to create custom view programmatically in swift having controls text field, button etc

Swift 3 / Swift 4 Update:

let screenSize: CGRect = UIScreen.main.bounds
let myView = UIView(frame: CGRect(x: 0, y: 0, width: screenSize.width - 10, height: 10))
self.view.addSubview(myView)

Wrap a text within only two lines inside div

Limiting output to two lines of text is possible with CSS, if you set the line-height and height of the element, and set overflow:hidden;:

#someDiv {
    line-height: 1.5em;
    height: 3em; /* height is 2x line-height, so two lines will display */
    overflow: hidden; /* prevents extra lines from being visible */
}

--- jsFiddle DEMO ---

Alternatively, you can use the CSS text-overflow and white-space properties to add ellipses, but this only appears to work for a single line.

#someDiv {
    line-height: 1.5em;
    height: 3em;
    overflow: hidden;
    white-space: nowrap;
    text-overflow: ellipsis;
    width: 100%;
}

And a demo:

--- jsFiddle DEMO ---

Achieving both multiple lines of text and ellipses appears to be the realm of javascript.

Forbidden You don't have permission to access /wp-login.php on this server

Sometimes if you are using some simple login info like this: username: 'admin' and pass: 'admin', the hosting is seeing you as a potential Brute Force Attack through WP login file, and blocks you IP address or that particularly file.

I had that issue with ixwebhosting and just got that info from their support guy. They must unban your IP in this situation. And you must change your WP admin login info to something more secure.

That solved my problem.

How to add ASP.NET 4.0 as Application Pool on IIS 7, Windows 7

In the top level of the IIS Manager (above Sites), you should see the Application Pools tree node. Right click on "Application Pools", choose "Add Application Pool".

Give it a name, choose .NET Framework 4.0 and either Integrated or Classic mode.

When you add or edit a web site, your new application pools will now show up in the list.

how to write value into cell with vba code without auto type conversion?

This is probably too late, but I had a similar problem with dates that I wanted entered into cells from a text variable. Inevitably, it converted my variable text value to a date. What I finally had to do was concatentate a ' to the string variable and then put it in the cell like this:

prvt_rng_WrkSht.Cells(prvt_rng_WrkSht.Rows.Count, cnst_int_Col_Start_Date).Formula = "'" & _

Using two values for one switch case statement

JEP 354: Switch Expressions (Preview) in JDK-13 and JEP 361: Switch Expressions (Standard) in JDK-14 will extend the switch statement so it can be used as an expression.

Now you can:

  • directly assign variable from switch expression,
  • use new form of switch label (case L ->):

    The code to the right of a "case L ->" switch label is restricted to be an expression, a block, or (for convenience) a throw statement.

  • use multiple constants per case, separated by commas,
  • and also there are no more value breaks:

    To yield a value from a switch expression, the break with value statement is dropped in favor of a yield statement.

So the demo from one of the answers might look like this:

public class SwitchExpression {

  public static void main(String[] args) {
      int month = 9;
      int year = 2018;
      int numDays = switch (month) {
        case 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 -> 31;
        case 4, 6, 9, 11 -> 30;
        case 2 -> {
          if (java.time.Year.of(year).isLeap()) {
            System.out.println("Wow! It's leap year!");
            yield 29;
          } else {
            yield 28;
          }
        }
        default -> {
          System.out.println("Invalid month.");
          yield 0;
        }
      };
      System.out.println("Number of Days = " + numDays);
  }
}

JavaScript running in a browser doesn't generally have access to the local file system. That's outside the sandbox. So I think the answer is no.

Why doesn't git recognize that my file has been changed, therefore git add not working

I had some git submodule misconfiguration. I went to repo's root and issued these commands on the directories that had .git folders previously:

git rm --cached sub/directory/path -f

Then the directories appeared in git status.

You may want to make a copy of your repo before trying this just in case.

LINQ's Distinct() on a particular property

I've written an article that explains how to extend the Distinct function so that you can do as follows:

var people = new List<Person>();

people.Add(new Person(1, "a", "b"));
people.Add(new Person(2, "c", "d"));
people.Add(new Person(1, "a", "b"));

foreach (var person in people.Distinct(p => p.ID))
    // Do stuff with unique list here.

    var jvalue = ((JProperty)(x)).Value ;

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'password'; //mysql password here

How do I deal with "signed/unsigned mismatch" warnings (C4018)?

If you can't/won't use iterators and if you can't/won't use std::size_t for the loop index, make a .size() to int conversion function that documents the assumption and does the conversion explicitly to silence the compiler warning.

#include <cassert>
#include <cstddef>
#include <limits>

// When using int loop indexes, use size_as_int(container) instead of
// container.size() in order to document the inherent assumption that the size
// of the container can be represented by an int.
template <typename ContainerType>
/* constexpr */ int size_as_int(const ContainerType &c) {
    const auto size = c.size();  // if no auto, use `typename ContainerType::size_type`
    assert(size <= static_cast<std::size_t>(std::numeric_limits<int>::max()));
    return static_cast<int>(size);
}

Then you write your loops like this:

for (int i = 0; i < size_as_int(things); ++i) { ... }

The instantiation of this function template will almost certainly be inlined. In debug builds, the assumption will be checked. In release builds, it won't be and the code will be as fast as if you called size() directly. Neither version will produce a compiler warning, and it's only a slight modification to the idiomatic loop.

If you want to catch assumption failures in the release version as well, you can replace the assertion with an if statement that throws something like std::out_of_range("container size exceeds range of int").

Note that this solves both the signed/unsigned comparison as well as the potential sizeof(int) != sizeof(Container::size_type) problem. You can leave all your warnings enabled and use them to catch real bugs in other parts of your code.

MetadataException: Unable to load the specified metadata resource

I also had the same problem and solution as per Rick, except that I was importing an existing .edmx to a new project, and while the base namespace didn't matter it was imported into a different subdirectory so I also had to update the connection string inside Web.Config in three places, to include the different subdirectory naming:

What does it mean to bind a multicast (UDP) socket?

The "bind" operation is basically saying, "use this local UDP port for sending and receiving data. In other words, it allocates that UDP port for exclusive use for your application. (Same holds true for TCP sockets).

When you bind to "0.0.0.0" (INADDR_ANY), you are basically telling the TCP/IP layer to use all available adapters for listening and to choose the best adapter for sending. This is standard practice for most socket code. The only time you wouldn't specify 0 for the IP address is when you want to send/receive on a specific network adapter.

Similarly if you specify a port value of 0 during bind, the OS will assign a randomly available port number for that socket. So I would expect for UDP multicast, you bind to INADDR_ANY on a specific port number where multicast traffic is expected to be sent to.

The "join multicast group" operation (IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP) is needed because it basically tells your network adapter to listen not only for ethernet frames where the destination MAC address is your own, it also tells the ethernet adapter (NIC) to listen for IP multicast traffic as well for the corresponding multicast ethernet address. Each multicast IP maps to a multicast ethernet address. When you use a socket to send to a specific multicast IP, the destination MAC address on the ethernet frame is set to the corresponding multicast MAC address for the multicast IP. When you join a multicast group, you are configuring the NIC to listen for traffic sent to that same MAC address (in addition to its own).

Without the hardware support, multicast wouldn't be any more efficient than plain broadcast IP messages. The join operation also tells your router/gateway to forward multicast traffic from other networks. (Anyone remember MBONE?)

If you join a multicast group, all the multicast traffic for all ports on that IP address will be received by the NIC. Only the traffic destined for your binded listening port will get passed up the TCP/IP stack to your app. In regards to why ports are specified during a multicast subscription - it's because multicast IP is just that - IP only. "ports" are a property of the upper protocols (UDP and TCP).

You can read more about how multicast IP addresses map to multicast ethernet addresses at various sites. The Wikipedia article is about as good as it gets:

The IANA owns the OUI MAC address 01:00:5e, therefore multicast packets are delivered by using the Ethernet MAC address range 01:00:5e:00:00:00 - 01:00:5e:7f:ff:ff. This is 23 bits of available address space. The first octet (01) includes the broadcast/multicast bit. The lower 23 bits of the 28-bit multicast IP address are mapped into the 23 bits of available Ethernet address space.

Verilog generate/genvar in an always block

Within a module, Verilog contains essentially two constructs: items and statements. Statements are always found in procedural contexts, which include anything in between begin..end, functions, tasks, always blocks and initial blocks. Items, such as generate constructs, are listed directly in the module. For loops and most variable/constant declarations can exist in both contexts.

In your code, it appears that you want the for loop to be evaluated as a generate item but the loop is actually part of the procedural context of the always block. For a for loop to be treated as a generate loop it must be in the module context. The generate..endgenerate keywords are entirely optional(some tools require them) and have no effect. See this answer for an example of how generate loops are evaluated.

//Compiler sees this
parameter ROWBITS = 4;
reg [ROWBITS-1:0] temp;
genvar c;

    always @(posedge sysclk) //Procedural context starts here
    begin
        for (c = 0; c < ROWBITS; c = c + 1) begin: test
            temp[c] <= 1'b0; //Still a genvar
        end
    end

R: Plotting a 3D surface from x, y, z

You could look at using Lattice. In this example I have defined a grid over which I want to plot z~x,y. It looks something like this. Note that most of the code is just building a 3D shape that I plot using the wireframe function.

The variables "b" and "s" could be x or y.

require(lattice)

# begin generating my 3D shape
b <- seq(from=0, to=20,by=0.5)
s <- seq(from=0, to=20,by=0.5)
payoff <- expand.grid(b=b,s=s)
payoff$payoff <- payoff$b - payoff$s
payoff$payoff[payoff$payoff < -1] <- -1
# end generating my 3D shape

wireframe(payoff ~ s * b, payoff, shade = TRUE, aspect = c(1, 1),
    light.source = c(10,10,10), main = "Study 1",
    scales = list(z.ticks=5,arrows=FALSE, col="black", font=10, tck=0.5),
    screen = list(z = 40, x = -75, y = 0))

How to get an element by its href in jquery?

Yes, you can use jQuery's attribute selector for that.

var linksToGoogle = $('a[href="http://google.com"]');

Alternatively, if your interest is rather links starting with a certain URL, use the attribute-starts-with selector:

var allLinksToGoogle = $('a[href^="http://google.com"]');

In your case I would consider using Set and not List, to ensure you have unique values only. unless you need sometimes to include duplicates.

In this case, you don't need to add any wrapper functions around lists.

How to add a second x-axis in matplotlib

I'm forced to post this as an answer instead of a comment due to low reputation. I had a similar problem to Matteo. The difference being that I had no map from my first x-axis to my second x-axis, only the x-values themselves. So I wanted to set the data on my second x-axis directly, not the ticks, however, there is no axes.set_xdata. I was able to use Dhara's answer to do this with a modification:

ax2.lines = []

instead of using:

ax2.cla()

When in use also cleared my plot from ax1.

MySQL select 10 random rows from 600K rows fast

If you have just one Read-Request

Combine the answer of @redsio with a temp-table (600K is not that much):

DROP TEMPORARY TABLE IF EXISTS tmp_randorder;
CREATE TABLE tmp_randorder (id int(11) not null auto_increment primary key, data_id int(11));
INSERT INTO tmp_randorder (data_id) select id from datatable;

And then take a version of @redsios Answer:

SELECT dt.*
FROM
       (SELECT (RAND() *
                     (SELECT MAX(id)
                        FROM tmp_randorder)) AS id)
        AS rnd
 INNER JOIN tmp_randorder rndo on rndo.id between rnd.id - 10 and rnd.id + 10
 INNER JOIN datatable AS dt on dt.id = rndo.data_id
 ORDER BY abs(rndo.id - rnd.id)
 LIMIT 1;

If the table is big, you can sieve on the first part:

INSERT INTO tmp_randorder (data_id) select id from datatable where rand() < 0.01;

If you have many read-requests

  1. Version: You could keep the table tmp_randorder persistent, call it datatable_idlist. Recreate that table in certain intervals (day, hour), since it also will get holes. If your table gets really big, you could also refill holes

    select l.data_id as whole from datatable_idlist l left join datatable dt on dt.id = l.data_id where dt.id is null;

  2. Version: Give your Dataset a random_sortorder column either directly in datatable or in a persistent extra table datatable_sortorder. Index that column. Generate a Random-Value in your Application (I'll call it $rand).

    select l.*
    from datatable l
    order by abs(random_sortorder - $rand) desc
    limit 1;

This solution discriminates the 'edge rows' with the highest and the lowest random_sortorder, so rearrange them in intervals (once a day).

Specifying width and height as percentages without skewing photo proportions in HTML

Given the lack of information regarding the original image size, specifying percentages for the width and height would result in highly erratic results. If you are trying to ensure that an image will fit within a specific location on your page then you'll need to use some server side code to manage that rescaling.

Unable to find valid certification path to requested target - error even after cert imported

(repost from my other response)
Use cli utility keytool from java software distribution for import (and trust!) needed certificates

Sample:

  1. From cli change dir to jre\bin

  2. Check keystore (file found in jre\bin directory)
    keytool -list -keystore ..\lib\security\cacerts
    Password is changeit

  3. Download and save all certificates in chain from needed server.

  4. Add certificates (before need to remove "read-only" attribute on file ..\lib\security\cacerts), run:

    keytool -alias REPLACE_TO_ANY_UNIQ_NAME -import -keystore.\lib\security\cacerts -file "r:\root.crt"

accidentally I found such a simple tip. Other solutions require the use of InstallCert.Java and JDK

When to use RDLC over RDL reports?

While I currently lean toward RDL because it seems more flexible and easier to manage, RDLC has an advantage in that it seems to simplify your licensing. Because RDLC doesn’t need a Reporting Services instance, you won't need a Reporting Services License to use it.

I’m not sure if this still applies with the newer versions of SQL Server, but at one time if you chose to put the SQL Server Database and Reporting Services instances on two separate machines, you were required to have two separate SQL Server licenses:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlgetstarted/thread/82dd5acd-9427-4f64-aea6-511f09aac406/

You can Bing for other similar blogs and posts regarding Reporting Services licensing.

Optional args in MATLAB functions

A simple way of doing this is via nargin (N arguments in). The downside is you have to make sure that your argument list and the nargin checks match.

It is worth remembering that all inputs are optional, but the functions will exit with an error if it calls a variable which is not set. The following example sets defaults for b and c. Will exit if a is not present.

function [ output_args ] = input_example( a, b, c )
if nargin < 1
  error('input_example :  a is a required input')
end

if nargin < 2
  b = 20
end

if nargin < 3
  c = 30
end
end

Javascript decoding html entities

There is a jQuery solution in this thread. Try something like this:

var decoded = $("<div/>").html('your string').text();

This sets the innerHTML of a new <div> element (not appended to the page), causing jQuery to decode it into HTML, which is then pulled back out with .text().

Cannot add a project to a Tomcat server in Eclipse

After following the steps suggested by previous posters, do the following steps:

  • Right click on the project
  • Click Maven, then Update Project
  • Tick the checkbox "Force Update of Snapshots/Releases", then click OK

You should be good to go now.

How to get the body's content of an iframe in Javascript?

Chalkey is correct, you need to use the src attribute to specify the page to be contained in the iframe. Providing you do this, and the document in the iframe is in the same domain as the parent document, you can use this:

var e = document.getElementById("id_description_iframe");
if(e != null) {
   alert(e.contentWindow.document.body.innerHTML);
}

Obviously you can then do something useful with the contents instead of just putting them in an alert.

How to get the current directory in a C program?

Although the question is tagged Unix, people also get to visit it when their target platform is Windows, and the answer for Windows is the GetCurrentDirectory() function:

DWORD WINAPI GetCurrentDirectory(
  _In_  DWORD  nBufferLength,
  _Out_ LPTSTR lpBuffer
);

These answers apply to both C and C++ code.

Link suggested by user4581301 in a comment to another question, and verified as the current top choice with a Google search 'site:microsoft.com getcurrentdirectory'.

How do I search for a pattern within a text file using Python combining regex & string/file operations and store instances of the pattern?

Doing it in one bulk read:

import re

textfile = open(filename, 'r')
filetext = textfile.read()
textfile.close()
matches = re.findall("(<(\d{4,5})>)?", filetext)

Line by line:

import re

textfile = open(filename, 'r')
matches = []
reg = re.compile("(<(\d{4,5})>)?")
for line in textfile:
    matches += reg.findall(line)
textfile.close()

But again, the matches that returns will not be useful for anything except counting unless you added an offset counter:

import re

textfile = open(filename, 'r')
matches = []
offset = 0
reg = re.compile("(<(\d{4,5})>)?")
for line in textfile:
    matches += [(reg.findall(line),offset)]
    offset += len(line)
textfile.close()

But it still just makes more sense to read the whole file in at once.

Event when window.location.href changes

Have you tried beforeUnload? This event fires immediately before the page responds to a navigation request, and this should include the modification of the href.

Beware, however, that your event will fire whenever you navigate away from the page, whether this is because of the script, or somebody clicking on a link. Your real challenge, is detecting the different reasons for the event being fired. (If this is important to your logic)

How to compare LocalDate instances Java 8

Using equals() LocalDate does override equals:

int compareTo0(LocalDate otherDate) {
    int cmp = (year - otherDate.year);
    if (cmp == 0) {
        cmp = (month - otherDate.month);
        if (cmp == 0) {
            cmp = (day - otherDate.day);
        }
    }
    return cmp;
}

If you are not happy with the result of equals(), you are good using the predefined methods of LocalDate.

Notice that all of those method are using the compareTo0() method and just check the cmp value. if you are still getting weird result (which you shouldn't), please attach an example of input and output

Keep the order of the JSON keys during JSON conversion to CSV

In the real world, an application will almost always have java bean or domain that is to be serialized/de-serialized to/from JSON. Its already mentioned that JSON Object specification does not guarantee order and any manipulation to that behavior does not justify the requirement. I had the same scenario in my application where I needed to preserve order just for the sack of readability purpose. I used standard jackson way to serialize my java bean to JSON:

Object object = getObject(); //the source java bean that needs conversion
String jsonString = new com.fasterxml.jackson.databind.ObjectMapper().writeValueAsString(object);

In order to make the json with an ordered set of elements I just use JSON property annotation in the the Java bean I used for conversion. An example below:

@JsonInclude(JsonInclude.Include.NON_NULL)
@JsonPropertyOrder({"name","phone","city","id"})
public class SampleBean implements Serializable {
    private int id;
    private String name:
    private String city;
    private String phone;

    //...standard getters and setters
}

the getObject() used above:

public SampleBean getObject(){
    SampleBean bean  = new SampleBean();
    bean.setId("100");
    bean.setName("SomeName");
    bean.setCity("SomeCity");
    bean.setPhone("1234567890");
    return bean;
}

The output shows as per Json property order annotation:

{
    name: "SomeName",
    phone: "1234567890",
    city: "SomeCity",
    id: 100
}

Convert a CERT/PEM certificate to a PFX certificate

If you have a self-signed certificate generated by makecert.exe on a Windows machine, you will get two files: cert.pvk and cert.cer. These can be converted to a pfx using pvk2pfx

pvk2pfx is found in the same location as makecert (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin\x86 or similar)

pvk2pfx -pvk cert.pvk -spc cert.cer -pfx cert.pfx

Submit form on pressing Enter with AngularJS

you can simply bind @Hostlistener with the component, and rest will take care by it. It won't need binding of any method from its HTML template.

@HostListener('keydown',['$event'])
onkeydown(event:keyboardEvent){
  if(event.key == 'Enter'){
           // TODO do something here
           // form.submit() OR API hit for any http method
  }
}

The above code should work with Angular 1+ version

How do I indent multiple lines at once in Notepad++?

Notepad++ will only auto-insert subsequent indents if you manually indent the first line in a block; otherwise you can re-indent your code after the fact using TextFX > TextFX Edit > Reindent C++ code.

Unfinished Stubbing Detected in Mockito

For those who use com.nhaarman.mockitokotlin2.mock {}

This error occurs when, for example, we create a mock inside another mock

mock {
    on { x() } doReturn mock {
        on { y() } doReturn z()
    }
}

The solution to this is to create the child mock in a variable and use the variable in the scope of the parent mock to prevent the mock creation from being explicitly nested.

val liveDataMock = mock {
        on { y() } doReturn z()
}
mock {
    on { x() } doReturn liveDataMock
}

Alternative for <blink>

If you're looking to re-enable the blink tag for your own browsing, you can install this simple Chrome extension I wrote: https://github.com/etlovett/Blink-Tag-Enabler-Chrome-Extension. It just hides and shows all <blink> tags on every page using setInterval.

How do you do relative time in Rails?

Since the most answer here suggests time_ago_in_words.

Instead of using :

<%= time_ago_in_words(comment.created_at) %>

In Rails, prefer:

<abbr class="timeago" title="<%= comment.created_at.getutc.iso8601 %>">
  <%= comment.created_at.to_s %>
</abbr>

along with a jQuery library http://timeago.yarp.com/, with code:

$("abbr.timeago").timeago();

Main advantage: caching

Good NumericUpDown equivalent in WPF?

A control that is missing from the original set of WPF controls, but much used, is the NumericUpDown control. It is a neat way to get users to select a number from a fixed range, in a small area. A slider could be used, but for compact forms with little horizontal real-estate, the NumericUpDown is essential.

Solution A (via WindowsFormsHost)

You can use the Windows Forms NumericUpDown control in WPF by hosting it in a WindowsFormsHost. Pay attention that you have to include a reference to System.Windows.Forms.dll assembly.

<Window x:Class="WpfApplication61.MainWindow"
        xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
        xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
        xmlns:wf="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Forms;assembly=System.Windows.Forms"
        Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525">
    <StackPanel>
        <WindowsFormsHost>
            <wf:NumericUpDown/>
        </WindowsFormsHost>
...

Solution B (custom)

There are several commercial and codeplex versions around, but both involve installing 3rd party dlls and overheads to your project. Far simpler to build your own, and a aimple way to do that is with the ScrollBar.

A vertical ScrollBar with no Thumb (just the repeater buttons) is in fact just what we want. It inherits rom RangeBase, so it has all the properties we need, like Min, Max, and SmallChange (set to 1, to restrict it to Integer values)

So we change the ScrollBar ControlTemplate. First we remove the Thumb and Horizontal trigger actions. Then we group the remains into a grid and add a TextBlock for the number:

<Grid Margin="2">
    <Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
        <ColumnDefinition/>
        <ColumnDefinition />
    </Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="20" MinWidth="25" Text="{Binding Value, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}"/>
    <Grid Grid.Column="1" x:Name="GridRoot" Width="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemParameters.VerticalScrollBarWidthKey}}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}">
        <Grid.RowDefinitions>
            <RowDefinition MaxHeight="18"/>
            <RowDefinition Height="0.00001*"/>
            <RowDefinition MaxHeight="18"/>
        </Grid.RowDefinitions>
        <RepeatButton x:Name="DecreaseRepeat" Command="ScrollBar.LineDownCommand" Focusable="False">
            <Grid>
                <Path x:Name="DecreaseArrow" Stroke="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" StrokeThickness="1" Data="M 0 4 L 8 4 L 4 0 Z"/>
            </Grid>
        </RepeatButton>
        <RepeatButton Grid.Row="2" x:Name="IncreaseRepeat" Command="ScrollBar.LineUpCommand" Focusable="False">
            <Grid>
                <Path x:Name="IncreaseArrow" Stroke="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" StrokeThickness="1" Data="M 0 0 L 4 4 L 8 0 Z"/>
            </Grid>
        </RepeatButton>
    </Grid>
</Grid>

Java Multithreading concept and join() method

when ob1 is created then the constructor is called where "t.start()" is written but still run() method is not executed rather main() method is executed further. So why is this happening?

here your threads and main thread has equal priority.Execution of equal priority thread totally depends on the Thread schedular.You can't expect which to execute first.

join() method is used to wait until the thread on which it is called does not terminates, but here in output we see alternate outputs of the thread why??

Here your calling below statements from main thread.

     ob1.t.join();
     ob2.t.join();
     ob3.t.join();

So main thread waits for ob1.t,ob2.t,ob3.t threads to die(look into Thread#join doc).So all three threads executes successfully and main thread completes after that

Delete all rows in a table based on another table

Since the OP does not ask for a specific DB, better use a standard compliant statement. Only MERGE is in SQL standard for deleting (or updating) rows while joining something on target table.

merge table1 t1
    using (
        select t2.ID
            from table2 t2
    ) as d
    on t1.ID = d.ID
    when matched then delete;

MERGE has a stricter semantic, protecting from some error cases which may go unnoticed with DELETE ... FROM. It enforces 'uniqueness' of match : if many rows in the source (the statement inside using) match the same row in the target, the merge must be canceled and an error must be raised by the SQL engine.

What is the difference between a token and a lexeme?

a) Tokens are symbolic names for the entities that make up the text of the program; e.g. if for the keyword if, and id for any identifier. These make up the output of the lexical analyser. 5

(b) A pattern is a rule that specifies when a sequence of characters from the input constitutes a token; e.g the sequence i, f for the token if , and any sequence of alphanumerics starting with a letter for the token id.

(c) A lexeme is a sequence of characters from the input that match a pattern (and hence constitute an instance of a token); for example if matches the pattern for if , and foo123bar matches the pattern for id.

How can I use a custom font in Java?

Here is how I did it!

//create the font

try {
    //create the font to use. Specify the size!
    Font customFont = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, new File("Fonts\\custom_font.ttf")).deriveFont(12f);
    GraphicsEnvironment ge = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment();
    //register the font
    ge.registerFont(customFont);
} catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
} catch(FontFormatException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
}

//use the font
yourSwingComponent.setFont(customFont);

Calculating moving average

In fact RcppRoll is very good.

The code posted by cantdutchthis must be corrected in the fourth line to the window be fixed:

ma <- function(arr, n=15){
  res = arr
  for(i in n:length(arr)){
    res[i] = mean(arr[(i-n+1):i])
  }
  res
}

Another way, which handles missings, is given here.

A third way, improving cantdutchthis code to calculate partial averages or not, follows:

  ma <- function(x, n=2,parcial=TRUE){
  res = x #set the first values

  if (parcial==TRUE){
    for(i in 1:length(x)){
      t<-max(i-n+1,1)
      res[i] = mean(x[t:i])
    }
    res

  }else{
    for(i in 1:length(x)){
      t<-max(i-n+1,1)
      res[i] = mean(x[t:i])
    }
    res[-c(seq(1,n-1,1))] #remove the n-1 first,i.e., res[c(-3,-4,...)]
  }
}

R: Select values from data table in range

Construct some data

df <- data.frame( name=c("John", "Adam"), date=c(3, 5) )

Extract exact matches:

subset(df, date==3)

  name date
1 John    3

Extract matches in range:

subset(df, date>4 & date<6)

  name date
2 Adam    5

The following syntax produces identical results:

df[df$date>4 & df$date<6, ]

  name date
2 Adam    5

Phone Number Validation MVC

Or you can use JQuery - just add your input field to the class "phone" and put this in your script section:

$(".phone").keyup(function () {
        $(this).val($(this).val().replace(/^(\d{3})(\d{3})(\d)+$/, "($1)$2-$3"));

There is no error message but you can see that the phone number is not correctly formatted until you have entered all ten digits.

how to make a whole row in a table clickable as a link?

i would prefer to use onclick="" attribute as it is easy to use and understand for newbie like

    <td>UserName</td>
    <td>Email</td>
    <td>Address</td>
</tr>

How to drop a list of rows from Pandas dataframe?

If I want to drop a row which has let's say index x, I would do the following:

df = df[df.index != x]

If I would want to drop multiple indices (say these indices are in the list unwanted_indices), I would do:

desired_indices = [i for i in len(df.index) if i not in unwanted_indices]
desired_df = df.iloc[desired_indices]

lists and arrays in VBA

You will have to change some of your data types but the basics of what you just posted could be converted to something similar to this given the data types I used may not be accurate.

Dim DateToday As String: DateToday = Format(Date, "yyyy/MM/dd")
Dim Computers As New Collection
Dim disabledList As New Collection
Dim compArray(1 To 1) As String

'Assign data to first item in array
compArray(1) = "asdf"

'Format = Item, Key
Computers.Add "ErrorState", "Computer Name"

'Prints "ErrorState"
Debug.Print Computers("Computer Name")

Collections cannot be sorted so if you need to sort data you will probably want to use an array.

Here is a link to the outlook developer reference. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff866465%28v=office.14%29.aspx

Another great site to help you get started is http://www.cpearson.com/Excel/Topic.aspx

Moving everything over to VBA from VB.Net is not going to be simple since not all the data types are the same and you do not have the .Net framework. If you get stuck just post the code you're stuck converting and you will surely get some help!

Edit:

Sub ArrayExample()
    Dim subject As String
    Dim TestArray() As String
    Dim counter As Long

    subject = "Example"
    counter = Len(subject)

    For counter = 1 To Len(subject)
        TestArray(counter) = Right(Left(subject, counter), 1)
    Next
End Sub

"Could not find or load main class" Error while running java program using cmd prompt

Hello World!!

Starting of Tomcat failed from Netbeans

For NetBeans to be able to interact with tomcat, it needs the user as setup in netbeans to be properly configured in the tomcat-users.xml file. NetBeans can do so automatically.

That is, within the tomcat-users.xml, which you can find in ${CATALINA_HOME}/conf, or ${CATALINA_BASE}/conf,

  1. make sure that the user (as chosen in netbeans) is added the script-manager role

Example, change

<user password="tomcat" roles="manager,admin" username="tomcat"/>

To

<user password="tomcat" roles="manager-script,manager,admin" username="tomcat"/>
  1. make sure that the manager-script role is declared

Add

<role rolename="manager-script"/>

Actually the netbeans online-help incorrectly states:

Username - Specifies the user name that the IDE uses to log into the server's manager application. The user must be associated with the manager role. The first time the IDE started the Tomcat Web Server, such as through the Start/Stop menu action or by executing a web component from the IDE, the IDE adds an admin user with a randomly-generated password to the tomcat-base-path/conf/tomcat-users.xml file. (Right-click the Tomcat Web server instance node in the Services window and select Properties. In the Properties dialog box, the Base Directory property points to the base-dir directory.) The admin user entry in the tomcat-users.xml file looks similar to the following: <user username="idea" password="woiehh" roles="manager"/>

The role should be manager-script, and not manager.

For a more complete tomcat-users.xml file:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
<tomcat-users>
  <role rolename="manager-script"/>
  <role rolename="manager-gui"/>
  <user password="tomcat" roles="manager-script" username="tomcat"/>
  <user password="pass" roles="manager-gui" username="me"/>
</tomcat-users>

Git update submodules recursively

As it may happens that the default branch of your submodules are not master (which happens a lot in my case), this is how I automate the full Git submodules upgrades:

git submodule init
git submodule update
git submodule foreach 'git fetch origin; git checkout $(git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD); git reset --hard origin/$(git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD); git submodule update --recursive; git clean -dfx'

Media Queries: How to target desktop, tablet, and mobile?

  1. I have used this site to find the resolution and developed CSS per actual numbers. My numbers vary quite a bit from the above answers, except that the my CSS actually hits the desired devices.

  2. Also, have this debugging piece of code right after your media query e.g:

    @media only screen and (min-width: 769px) and (max-width: 1281px) {
      /* for 10 inches tablet screens */

ssh: Could not resolve hostname github.com: Name or service not known; fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

Recently, I have seen this problem too. Below, you have my solution:

  1. ping github.com, if ping failed. it is DNS error.
  2. sudo vim /etc/resolv.conf, the add: nameserver 8.8.8.8 nameserver 8.8.4.4

Or it can be a genuine network issue. Restart your network-manager using sudo service network-manager restart or fix it up

I have just received this error after switching from HTTPS to SSH (for my origin remote). To fix, I simply ran the following command (for each repo):

ssh -T [email protected]

Upon receiving a successful response, I could fetch/push to the repo with ssh.

I took that command from Git's Testing your SSH connection guide, which is part of the greater Connecting to GitHub with with SSH guide.

Facebook page automatic "like" URL (for QR Code)

The answers above seem partly outdated.

The URL builder on https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-button/ worked nicely for me.

You can configure, preview and the get the code/URL in different flavors: HTML5, XFBML, IFRAME, URL

Implementing multiple interfaces with Java - is there a way to delegate?

There's no pretty way. You might be able to use a proxy with the handler having the target methods and delegating everything else to them. Of course you'll have to use a factory because there'll be no constructor.

Entity Framework: One Database, Multiple DbContexts. Is this a bad idea?

My gut told me the same thing when I came across this design.

I am working on a code base where there are three dbContexts to one database. 2 out of the 3 dbcontexts are dependent on information from 1 dbcontext because it serves up the administrative data. This design has placed constraints on how you can query your data. I ran into this problem where you cannot join across dbcontexts. Instead what you are required to do is query the two separate dbcontexts then do a join in memory or iterate through both to get the combination of the two as a result set. The problem with that is instead of querying for a specific result set you are now loading all your records into memory and then doing a join against the two result sets in memory. It can really slow things down.

I would ask the question "just because you can, should you?"

See this article for the problem I came across related to this design. The specified LINQ expression contains references to queries that are associated with different contexts

What are callee and caller saved registers?

Caller-saved registers (AKA volatile registers, or call-clobbered) are used to hold temporary quantities that need not be preserved across calls.

For that reason, it is the caller's responsibility to push these registers onto the stack or copy them somewhere else if it wants to restore this value after a procedure call.

It's normal to let a call destroy temporary values in these registers, though.

Callee-saved registers (AKA non-volatile registers, or call-preserved) are used to hold long-lived values that should be preserved across calls.

When the caller makes a procedure call, it can expect that those registers will hold the same value after the callee returns, making it the responsibility of the callee to save them and restore them before returning to the caller. Or to not touch them.

How can I export tables to Excel from a webpage

simple google search turned up this:

If the data is actually an HTML page and has NOT been created by ASP, PHP, or some other scripting language, and you are using Internet Explorer 6, and you have Excel installed on your computer, simply right-click on the page and look through the menu. You should see "Export to Microsoft Excel." If all these conditions are true, click on the menu item and after a few prompts it will be imported to Excel.

if you can't do that, he gives an alternate "drag-and-drop" method:

How do I create a local database inside of Microsoft SQL Server 2014?

As per comments, First you need to install an instance of SQL Server if you don't already have one - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143219.aspx

Once this is installed you must connect to this instance (server) and then you can create a database here - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms186312.aspx

Controlling number of decimal digits in print output in R

If you are producing the entire output yourself, you can use sprintf(), e.g.

> sprintf("%.10f",0.25)
[1] "0.2500000000"

specifies that you want to format a floating point number with ten decimal points (in %.10f the f is for float and the .10 specifies ten decimal points).

I don't know of any way of forcing R's higher level functions to print an exact number of digits.

Displaying 100 digits does not make sense if you are printing R's usual numbers, since the best accuracy you can get using 64-bit doubles is around 16 decimal digits (look at .Machine$double.eps on your system). The remaining digits will just be junk.

How to export non-exportable private key from store

You're right, no API at all that I'm aware to export PrivateKey marked as non-exportable. But if you patch (in memory) normal APIs, you can use the normal way to export :)

There is a new version of mimikatz that also support CNG Export (Windows Vista / 7 / 2008 ...)

  1. download (and launch with administrative privileges) : http://blog.gentilkiwi.com/mimikatz (trunk version or last version)

Run it and enter the following commands in its prompt:

  1. privilege::debug (unless you already have it or target only CryptoApi)
  2. crypto::patchcng (nt 6) and/or crypto::patchcapi (nt 5 & 6)
  3. crypto::exportCertificates and/or crypto::exportCertificates CERT_SYSTEM_STORE_LOCAL_MACHINE

The exported .pfx files are password protected with the password "mimikatz"

In Jinja2, how do you test if a variable is undefined?

Consider using default filter if it is what you need. For example:

{% set host = jabber.host | default(default.host) -%}

or use more fallback values with "hardcoded" one at the end like:

{% set connectTimeout = config.stackowerflow.connect.timeout | default(config.stackowerflow.timeout) | default(config.timeout) | default(42) -%}

Proper way to get page content

I've answered my own question. Call apply_filter and there you go.

<?php
$id=47;
$post = get_post($id);
$content = apply_filters('the_content', $post->post_content);
echo $content;
?>

Method to Add new or update existing item in Dictionary

There's no problem. I would even remove the CreateNewOrUpdateExisting from the source and use map[key] = value directly in your code, because this this is much more readable, because developers would usually know what map[key] = value means.

How to include bootstrap css and js in reactjs app?

Since Bootstrap/Reactstrap has released their latest version i.e. Bootstrap 4 you can use this by following these steps

  1. Navigate to your project
  2. Open the terminal
  3. I assume npm is already installed and then type the following command

    npm install --save reactstrap react react-dom

This will install Reactstrap as a dependency in your project.

Here is the code for a button created using Reactstrap

Tensorflow image reading & display

After speaking with you in the comments, I believe that you can just do this using numpy/scipy. The ideas is to read the image in the numpy 3d-array and feed it into the variable.

from scipy import misc
import tensorflow as tf

img = misc.imread('01.png')
print img.shape    # (32, 32, 3)

img_tf = tf.Variable(img)
print img_tf.get_shape().as_list()  # [32, 32, 3]

Then you can run your graph:

init = tf.initialize_all_variables()
sess = tf.Session()
sess.run(init)
im = sess.run(img_tf)

and verify that it is the same:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
fig = plt.figure()
fig.add_subplot(1,2,1)
plt.imshow(im)
fig.add_subplot(1,2,2)
plt.imshow(img)
plt.show()

enter image description here

P.S. you mentioned: Since it's supposed to parallelize reading, it seems useful to know.. To which I can say that rarely in data-analysis reading of the data is the bottleneck. Most of your time you will spend training your model.

Creating a PHP header/footer

You can do it by using include_once() function in php. Construct a header part in the name of header.php and construct the footer part by footer.php. Finally include all the content in one file.

For example:

header.php

<html>
<title>
<link href="sample.css">

footer.php

</html>

So the final files look like

include_once("header.php")

body content(The body content changes based on the file dynamically)

include_once("footer.php")

$messageHTML="This is my message."
. PHP_EOL . "<br/>" .

. "<br/>" .

a page can have only one server-side form tag

Does your page contain these

<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1"
Runat="Server">
</asp:content>

tags, and are all your controls inside these? You should only have the Form tags in the MasterPage.

Here are some of my understanding and suggestion:

Html element can be put in the body of html pages and html page does support multiple elements, however they can not be nested each other, you can find the detailed description from the W3C html specification:

The FORM element

http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/html3/forms.html

And as for ASP.NET web form page, it is based on a single server-side form element which contains all the controls inside it, so generally we do not recommend that we put multiple elements. However, this is still supported in ASP.NET page(master page) and I think the problem in your master page should be caused by the unsupported nested element, and multiple in the same level should be ok. e.g:

In addition, if what you want to do through multiple forms is just make our page posting to multiple pages, I think you can consider using the new feature for cross-page posting in ASP.NET 2.0. This can help us use button controls to postback to different pages without having multpile forms on the page:

Much easier aproach. Consider a task:

How to convert numpy arrays to standard TensorFlow format?

You can use tf.convert_to_tensor():

import tensorflow as tf
import numpy as np

data = [[1,2,3],[4,5,6]]
data_np = np.asarray(data, np.float32)

data_tf = tf.convert_to_tensor(data_np, np.float32)

sess = tf.InteractiveSession()
print(data_tf.eval())

sess.close()

Here's a link to the documentation for this method:

Using NOT operator in IF conditions

I never heard of this one before.

How is

if (doSomething()) {
} else {
   // blah
}

better than

if (!doSomething()) {
   // blah
}

The later is more clear and concise.

Besides the ! operator can appear in complex conditions such as (!a || b). How do you avoid it then?

Use the ! operator when you need.

Common elements comparison between 2 lists

Use a generator:

common = (x for x in list1 if x in list2)

The advantage here is that this will return in constant time (nearly instant) even when using huge lists or other huge iterables.

For example,

list1 =  list(range(0,10000000))
list2=list(range(1000,20000000))
common = (x for x in list1 if x in list2)

All other answers here will take a very long time with these values for list1 and list2.

You can then iterate the answer with

for i in common: print(i)

Or convert it to a list with

list(i)

How to get pixel data from a UIImage (Cocoa Touch) or CGImage (Core Graphics)?

Based on different answers but mainly on this, this works for what I need:

UIImage *image1 = ...; // The image from where you want a pixel data
int pixelX = ...; // The X coordinate of the pixel you want to retrieve
int pixelY = ...; // The Y coordinate of the pixel you want to retrieve

uint32_t pixel1; // Where the pixel data is to be stored
CGContextRef context1 = CGBitmapContextCreate(&pixel1, 1, 1, 8, 4, CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(), kCGImageAlphaNoneSkipFirst);
CGContextDrawImage(context1, CGRectMake(-pixelX, -pixelY, CGImageGetWidth(image1.CGImage), CGImageGetHeight(image1.CGImage)), image1.CGImage);
CGContextRelease(context1);

As a result of this lines, you will have a pixel in AARRGGBB format with alpha always set to FF in the 4 byte unsigned integer pixel1.

So you use this:

$("#YourButton").click(function()

then inside partial view html you call button trigger click like:

Mergesort with Python

After implementing different versions of solution, I finally made a trade-off to achieve these goals based on CLRS version.

Goal

  • not using list.pop() to iterate values
  • not creating a new list for saving result, modifying the original one instead
  • not using float('inf') as sentinel values
def mergesort(A, p, r):
    if(p < r):
        q = (p+r)//2
        mergesort(A, p, q)
        mergesort(A, q+1, r)
        merge(A, p, q, r)
def merge(A, p, q, r):
    L = A[p:q+1]
    R = A[q+1:r+1]
    i = 0
    j = 0
    k = p
    while i < len(L) and j < len(R):
        if(L[i] < R[j]):
            A[k] = L[i]
            i += 1
        else:
            A[k] = R[j]
            j += 1
        k += 1
    if i < len(L):
        A[k:r+1] = L[i:]
if __name__ == "__main__":
    items = [6, 2, 9, 1, 7, 3, 4, 5, 8]
    mergesort(items, 0, len(items)-1)
    print items
    assert items == [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

Why is synchronized block better than synchronized method?

It should not be considered as a question of best for usage, but it really depends on the use case or the scenario.

Synchronized Methods

An entire method can be marked as synchronized resulting an implicit lock on the this reference (instance methods) or class (static methods). This is very convenient mechanism to achieve synchronization.

Steps A thread access the synchronized method. It implicitly acquires the lock and execute the code. If other thread want to access the above method, it has to wait. The thread can't get the lock, will be blocked and has to wait till the lock is released.

Synchronized Blocks

To acquire a lock on an object for a specific set of code block, synchronized blocks are the best fit. As a block is sufficient, using a synchronized method will be a waste.

More specifically with Synchronized Block , it is possible to define the object reference on which are want to acquire a lock.

wp_nav_menu change sub-menu class name?

This is an old question and I'm not sure if the solution I'm going to mention was available by the time you asked, but I think it's worth mentioning. You can achieve what you want by adding a filter to nav_menu_submenu_css_class. See the example below - you can replace my-new-submenu-class by the class(es) you want:

function my_nav_menu_submenu_css_class( $classes ) {
    $classes[] = 'my-new-submenu-class';
    return $classes;
}
add_filter( 'nav_menu_submenu_css_class', 'my_nav_menu_submenu_css_class' );

MySQL VARCHAR size?

VARCHAR means that it's a variable-length character, so it's only going to take as much space as is necessary. But if you knew something about the underlying structure, it may make sense to restrict VARCHAR to some maximum amount.

For instance, if you were storing comments from the user, you may limit the comment field to only 4000 characters; if so, it doesn't really make any sense to make the sql table have a field that's larger than VARCHAR(4000).

SQL Server NOLOCK and joins

I was pretty sure that you need to specify the NOLOCK for each JOIN in the query. But my experience was limited to SQL Server 2005.

When I looked up MSDN just to confirm, I couldn't find anything definite. The below statements do seem to make me think, that for 2008, your two statements above are equivalent though for 2005 it is not the case:

[SQL Server 2008 R2]

All lock hints are propagated to all the tables and views that are accessed by the query plan, including tables and views referenced in a view. Also, SQL Server performs the corresponding lock consistency checks.

[SQL Server 2005]

In SQL Server 2005, all lock hints are propagated to all the tables and views that are referenced in a view. Also, SQL Server performs the corresponding lock consistency checks.

Additionally, point to note - and this applies to both 2005 and 2008:

The table hints are ignored if the table is not accessed by the query plan. This may be caused by the optimizer choosing not to access the table at all, or because an indexed view is accessed instead. In the latter case, accessing an indexed view can be prevented by using the OPTION (EXPAND VIEWS) query hint.

How can I group by date time column without taking time into consideration

GROUP BY DATEADD(day, DATEDIFF(day, 0, MyDateTimeColumn), 0)

Or in SQL Server 2008 onwards you could simply cast to Date as @Oded suggested:

GROUP BY CAST(orderDate AS DATE)

http post - how to send Authorization header?

Ok. I found problem.

It was not on the Angular side. To be honest, there were no problem at all.

Reason why I was unable to perform my request succesfuly was that my server app was not properly handling OPTIONS request.

Why OPTIONS, not POST? My server app is on different host, then frontend. Because of CORS my browser was converting POST to OPTION: http://restlet.com/blog/2015/12/15/understanding-and-using-cors/

With help of this answer: Standalone Spring OAuth2 JWT Authorization Server + CORS

I implemented proper filter on my server-side app.

Thanks to @Supamiu - the person which fingered me that I am not sending POST at all.

How to remove line breaks from a file in Java?

Linebreaks are not the same under windows/linux/mac. You should use System.getProperties with the attribute line.separator.

How to get element by class name?

The name of the DOM function is actually getElementsByClassName, not getElementByClassName, simply because more than one element on the page can have the same class, hence: Elements.

The return value of this will be a NodeList instance, or a superset of the NodeList (FF, for instance returns an instance of HTMLCollection). At any rate: the return value is an array-like object:

var y = document.getElementsByClassName('foo');
var aNode = y[0];

If, for some reason you need the return object as an array, you can do that easily, because of its magic length property:

var arrFromList = Array.prototype.slice.call(y);
//or as per AntonB's comment:
var arrFromList = [].slice.call(y);

As yckart suggested querySelector('.foo') and querySelectorAll('.foo') would be preferable, though, as they are, indeed, better supported (93.99% vs 87.24%), according to caniuse.com:

Use jquery to set value of div tag

To put text, use .text('text')

If you want to use .html(SomeValue), SomeValue should have html tags that can be inside a div it must work too.

Just check your script location, as farzad said.

How do I remove duplicate items from an array in Perl?

Previous answers pretty much summarize the possible ways of accomplishing this task.

However, I suggest a modification for those who don't care about counting the duplicates, but do care about order.

my @record = qw( yeah I mean uh right right uh yeah so well right I maybe );
my %record;
print grep !$record{$_} && ++$record{$_}, @record;

Note that the previously suggested grep !$seen{$_}++ ... increments $seen{$_} before negating, so the increment occurs regardless of whether it has already been %seen or not. The above, however, short-circuits when $record{$_} is true, leaving what's been heard once 'off the %record'.

You could also go for this ridiculousness, which takes advantage of autovivification and existence of hash keys:

...
grep !(exists $record{$_} || undef $record{$_}), @record;

That, however, might lead to some confusion.

And if you care about neither order or duplicate count, you could for another hack using hash slices and the trick I just mentioned:

...
undef @record{@record};
keys %record; # your record, now probably scrambled but at least deduped

Cannot create a connection to data source Error (rsErrorOpeningConnection) in SSRS

In SQL Server 2008 in addition to the above two options you have a third option to make this setting through SQL Server Management Studio.

1.Start Management Studio and connect to Report Server Instance (make sure you select 'Reporting Services' server type).

2.Right click on the ReportServer and Select Properties

3.Click Advanced

4.In EnableRemoteErrors, select True.

5.Click OK.

What are database normal forms and can you give examples?

1NF is the most basic of normal forms - each cell in a table must contain only one piece of information, and there can be no duplicate rows.

2NF and 3NF are all about being dependent on the primary key. Recall that a primary key can be made up of multiple columns. As Chris said in his response:

The data depends on the key [1NF], the whole key [2NF] and nothing but the key [3NF] (so help me Codd).

2NF

Say you have a table containing courses that are taken in a certain semester, and you have the following data:

|-----Primary Key----|               uh oh |
                                           V
CourseID | SemesterID | #Places  | Course Name  |
------------------------------------------------|
IT101    |   2009-1   | 100      | Programming  |
IT101    |   2009-2   | 100      | Programming  |
IT102    |   2009-1   | 200      | Databases    |
IT102    |   2010-1   | 150      | Databases    |
IT103    |   2009-2   | 120      | Web Design   |

This is not in 2NF, because the fourth column does not rely upon the entire key - but only a part of it. The course name is dependent on the Course's ID, but has nothing to do with which semester it's taken in. Thus, as you can see, we have duplicate information - several rows telling us that IT101 is programming, and IT102 is Databases. So we fix that by moving the course name into another table, where CourseID is the ENTIRE key.

Primary Key |

CourseID    |  Course Name |
---------------------------|
IT101       | Programming  |
IT102       | Databases    |
IT103       | Web Design   |

No redundancy!

3NF

Okay, so let's say we also add the name of the teacher of the course, and some details about them, into the RDBMS:

|-----Primary Key----|                           uh oh |
                                                       V
Course  |  Semester  |  #Places   |  TeacherID  | TeacherName  |
---------------------------------------------------------------|
IT101   |   2009-1   |  100       |  332        |  Mr Jones    |
IT101   |   2009-2   |  100       |  332        |  Mr Jones    |
IT102   |   2009-1   |  200       |  495        |  Mr Bentley  |
IT102   |   2010-1   |  150       |  332        |  Mr Jones    |
IT103   |   2009-2   |  120       |  242        |  Mrs Smith   |

Now hopefully it should be obvious that TeacherName is dependent on TeacherID - so this is not in 3NF. To fix this, we do much the same as we did in 2NF - take the TeacherName field out of this table, and put it in its own, which has TeacherID as the key.

 Primary Key |

 TeacherID   | TeacherName  |
 ---------------------------|
 332         |  Mr Jones    |
 495         |  Mr Bentley  |
 242         |  Mrs Smith   |

No redundancy!!

One important thing to remember is that if something is not in 1NF, it is not in 2NF or 3NF either. So each additional Normal Form requires everything that the lower normal forms had, plus some extra conditions, which must all be fulfilled.

Remove row lines in twitter bootstrap

Access PHP variable in JavaScript

You can't, you'll have to do something like

<script type="text/javascript">
   var php_var = "<?php echo $php_var; ?>";
</script>

You can also load it with AJAX

rhino is right, the snippet lacks of a type for the sake of brevity.

Also, note that if $php_var has quotes, it will break your script. You shall use addslashes, htmlentities or a custom function.

How to get a reference to an iframe's window object inside iframe's onload handler created from parent window

You're declaring everything in the parent page. So the references to window and document are to the parent page's. If you want to do stuff to the iframe's, use iframe || iframe.contentWindow to access its window, and iframe.contentDocument || iframe.contentWindow.document to access its document.

There's a word for what's happening, possibly "lexical scope": What is lexical scope?

The only context of a scope is this. And in your example, the owner of the method is doc, which is the iframe's document. Other than that, anything that's accessed in this function that uses known objects are the parent's (if not declared in the function). It would be a different story if the function were declared in a different place, but it's declared in the parent page.

This is how I would write it:

(function () {
  var dom, win, doc, where, iframe;

  iframe = document.createElement('iframe');
  iframe.src = "javascript:false";

  where = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
  where.parentNode.insertBefore(iframe, where);

  win = iframe.contentWindow || iframe;
  doc = iframe.contentDocument || iframe.contentWindow.document;

  doc.open();
  doc._l = (function (w, d) {
    return function () {
      w.vanishing_global = new Date().getTime();

      var js = d.createElement("script");
      js.src = 'test-vanishing-global.js?' + w.vanishing_global;

      w.name = "foobar";
      d.foobar = "foobar:" + Math.random();
      d.foobar = "barfoo:" + Math.random();
      d.body.appendChild(js);
    };
  })(win, doc);
  doc.write('<body onload="document._l();"></body>');
  doc.close();
})();

The aliasing of win and doc as w and d aren't necessary, it just might make it less confusing because of the misunderstanding of scopes. This way, they are parameters and you have to reference them to access the iframe's stuff. If you want to access the parent's, you still use window and document.

I'm not sure what the implications are of adding methods to a document (doc in this case), but it might make more sense to set the _l method on win. That way, things can be run without a prefix...such as <body onload="_l();"></body>

Top 5 time-consuming SQL queries in Oracle

The following query returns SQL statements that perform large numbers of disk reads (also includes the offending user and the number of times the query has been run):

SELECT t2.username, t1.disk_reads, t1.executions,
    t1.disk_reads / DECODE(t1.executions, 0, 1, t1.executions) as exec_ratio,
    t1.command_type, t1.sql_text
  FROM v$sqlarea t1, dba_users t2
  WHERE t1.parsing_user_id = t2.user_id
    AND t1.disk_reads > 100000
  ORDER BY t1.disk_reads DESC

Run the query as SYS and adjust the number of disk reads depending on what you deem to be excessive (100,000 works for me).

I have used this query very recently to track down users who refuse to take advantage of Explain Plans before executing their statements.

I found this query in an old Oracle SQL tuning book (which I unfortunately no longer have), so apologies, but no attribution.

Truststore and Keystore Definitions

  1. A keystore contains private keys. You only need this if you are a server, or if the server requires client authentication.

  2. A truststore contains CA certificates to trust. If your server’s certificate is signed by a recognized CA, the default truststore that ships with the JRE will already trust it (because it already trusts trustworthy CAs), so you don’t need to build your own, or to add anything to the one from the JRE.
