How to show all shared libraries used by executables in Linux?

on ubuntu print packages related to an executable

Java compile error: "reached end of file while parsing }"

You need to enclose your class in { and }. A few extra pointers: According to the Java coding conventions, you should

  • Put your { on the same line as the method declaration:
  • Name your classes using CamelCase (with initial capital letter)
  • Name your methods using camelCase (with small initial letter)

Here's how I would write it:

public class ModMyMod extends BaseMod {

    public String version() {
         return "1.2_02";
    }

    public void addRecipes(CraftingManager recipes) {
       recipes.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Item.diamond), new Object[] {
          "#", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt
       });
    }
}

How do I get the path of the current executed file in Python?

You can use Path from the pathlib module:

from pathlib import Path

# ...

Path(__file__)

You can use call to parent to go further in the path:

Path(__file__).parent

Disabled form inputs do not appear in the request

If you absolutely have to have the field disabled and pass the data you could use a javascript to input the same data into a hidden field (or just set the hidden field too). This would allow you to have it disabled but still post the data even though you'd be posting to another page.

Trouble setting up git with my GitHub Account error: could not lock config file

In my case, the .git/config file was created not in my $HOME directory, but inside my repository on .git/config.lock

How to do constructor chaining in C#

I hope following example shed some light on constructor chaining.
my use case here for example, you are expecting user to pass a directory to your constructor, user doesn't know what directory to pass and decides to let you assign default directory. you step up and assign a default directory that you think will work.

BTW, I used LINQPad for this example in case you are wondering what *.Dump() is.
cheers

void Main()
{

    CtorChaining ctorNoparam = new CtorChaining();
    ctorNoparam.Dump();
    //Result --> BaseDir C:\Program Files (x86)\Default\

    CtorChaining ctorOneparam = new CtorChaining("c:\\customDir");
    ctorOneparam.Dump();
    //Result --> BaseDir c:\customDir
}

public class CtorChaining
{
    public string BaseDir;
    public static string DefaultDir = @"C:\Program Files (x86)\Default\";

    public CtorChaining(): this(null) {}

    public CtorChaining(string baseDir): this(baseDir, DefaultDir){}

    public CtorChaining(string baseDir, string defaultDir)
    {
        //if baseDir == null, this.BaseDir = @"C:\Program Files (x86)\Default\"
        this.BaseDir = baseDir ?? defaultDir;
    }
}

problem with <select> and :after with CSS in WebKit

I haven't checked this extensively, but I'm under the impression that this isn't (yet?) possible, due to the way in which select elements are generated by the OS on which the browser runs, rather than the browser itself.

Disabling enter key for form

For a non-javascript solution, try putting a <button disabled>Submit</button> into your form, positioned before any other submit buttons/inputs. I suggest immediately after the <form> opening tag (and using CSS to hide it, accesskey='-1' to get it out of the tab sequence, etc)

AFAICT, user agents look for the first submit button when ENTER is hit in an input, and if that button is disabled will then stop looking for another.

A form element's default button is the first submit button in tree order whose form owner is that form element.

If the user agent supports letting the user submit a form implicitly (for example, on some platforms hitting the "enter" key while a text field is focused implicitly submits the form), then doing so for a form whose default button has a defined activation behavior must cause the user agent to run synthetic click activation steps on that default button.

Consequently, if the default button is disabled, the form is not submitted when such an implicit submission mechanism is used. (A button has no activation behavior when disabled.)

https://www.w3.org/TR/html5/forms.html#implicit-submission

However, I do know that Safari 10 MacOS misbehaves here, submitting the form even if the default button is disabled.

So, if you can assume javascript, insert <button onclick="return false;">Submit</button> instead. On ENTER, the onclick handler will get called, and since it returns false the submission process stops. Browsers I've tested this with won't even do the browser-validation thing (focussing the first invalid form control, displaying an error message, etc).

Sort rows in data.table in decreasing order on string key `order(-x,v)` gives error on data.table 1.9.4 or earlier

DT[order(-x)] works as expected. I have data.table version 1.9.4. Maybe this was fixed in a recent version.
Also, I suggest the setorder(DT, -x) syntax in keeping with the set* commands like setnames, setkey

Should I make HTML Anchors with 'name' or 'id'?

How about using name attribute for old browsers and id attribute to the new browsers. Both options will be used and fallback method will be implemented by default!!!

"implements Runnable" vs "extends Thread" in Java

Runnable because:

  • Leaves more flexibility for the Runnable implementation to extend another class
  • Separates the code from execution
  • Allows you to run your runnable from a Thread Pool, the event thread, or in any other way in the future.

Even if you don't need any of this now, you may in the future. Since there is no benefit to overriding Thread, Runnable is a better solution.

HorizontalScrollView within ScrollView Touch Handling

Thanks to Neevek his answer worked for me but it doesn't lock the vertical scrolling when user has started scrolling the horizontal view(ViewPager) in horizontal direction and then without lifting the finger scroll vertically it starts to scroll the underlying container view(ScrollView). I fixed it by making a slight change in Neevak's code:

private float xDistance, yDistance, lastX, lastY;

int lastEvent=-1;

boolean isLastEventIntercepted=false;
@Override
public boolean onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent ev) {
    switch (ev.getAction()) {
        case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN:
            xDistance = yDistance = 0f;
            lastX = ev.getX();
            lastY = ev.getY();

            break;

        case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE:
            final float curX = ev.getX();
            final float curY = ev.getY();
            xDistance += Math.abs(curX - lastX);
            yDistance += Math.abs(curY - lastY);
            lastX = curX;
            lastY = curY;

            if(isLastEventIntercepted && lastEvent== MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE){
                return false;
            }

            if(xDistance > yDistance )
                {

                isLastEventIntercepted=true;
                lastEvent = MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE;
                return false;
                }

    }

    lastEvent=ev.getAction();

    isLastEventIntercepted=false;
    return super.onInterceptTouchEvent(ev);

}

Using Linq select list inside list

list.Where(m => m.application == "applicationName" &&
           m.users.Any(u => u.surname=="surname"));

if you want to filter users as TimSchmelter commented, you can use

list.Where(m => m.application == "applicationName")
    .Select(m => new Model
    {
        application = m.application,
        users = m.users.Where(u => u.surname=="surname").ToList()
    });

How many concurrent requests does a single Flask process receive?

Currently there is a far simpler solution than the ones already provided. When running your application you just have to pass along the threaded=True parameter to the app.run() call, like:

app.run(host="your.host", port=4321, threaded=True)

Another option as per what we can see in the werkzeug docs, is to use the processes parameter, which receives a number > 1 indicating the maximum number of concurrent processes to handle:

  • threaded – should the process handle each request in a separate thread?
  • processes – if greater than 1 then handle each request in a new process up to this maximum number of concurrent processes.

Something like:

app.run(host="your.host", port=4321, processes=3) #up to 3 processes

More info on the run() method here, and the blog post that led me to find the solution and api references.

Note: on the Flask docs on the run() methods it's indicated that using it in a Production Environment is discouraged because (quote): "While lightweight and easy to use, Flask’s built-in server is not suitable for production as it doesn’t scale well."

However, they do point to their Deployment Options page for the recommended ways to do this when going for production.

How to set the JDK Netbeans runs on?

All the other answers have described how to explicitly specify the location of the java platform, which is fine if you really want to use a specific version of java. However, if you just want to use the most up-to-date version of jdk, and you have that installed in a "normal" place for your operating system, then the best solution is to NOT specify a jdk location. Instead, let the Netbeans launcher search for jdk every time you start it up.

To do this, do not specify jdkhome on the command line, and comment out the line setting netbeans_jdkhome variable in any netbeans.conf files. (See other answers for where to look for these files.)

If you do this, when you install a new version of java, your netbeans will automagically use it. In most cases, that's probably exactly what you want.

C compiler for Windows?

There is another free C compiler for Windows: Pelles C.

Pelles C is a complete development kit for Windows and Windows Mobile. It contains among other things an optimizing C compiler, a macro assembler, a linker, a resource compiler, a message compiler, a make utility and install builders for both Windows and Windows Mobile. It also contains an integrated development environment (IDE) with project management, debugger, source code editor and resource editors for dialogs, menus, string tables, accelerator tables, bitmaps, icons, cursors, animated cursors, animation videos (AVI's without sound), versions and XP manifests.

How to write PNG image to string with the PIL?

You can use the BytesIO class to get a wrapper around strings that behaves like a file. The BytesIO object provides the same interface as a file, but saves the contents just in memory:

import io

with io.BytesIO() as output:
    image.save(output, format="GIF")
    contents = output.getvalue()

You have to explicitly specify the output format with the format parameter, otherwise PIL will raise an error when trying to automatically detect it.

If you loaded the image from a file it has a format parameter that contains the original file format, so in this case you can use format=image.format.

In old Python 2 versions before introduction of the io module you would have used the StringIO module instead.

how to check for special characters php

how to get last insert id after insert query in codeigniter active record

Try this

function add_post($post_data){
   $this->db->insert('posts', $post_data);
   $insert_id = $this->db->insert_id();

   return  $insert_id;
}

In case of multiple inserts you could use

$this->db->trans_start();
$this->db->trans_complete();

Is there a Google Voice API?

I looked for a C/C++ API for Google Voice for quite a while and never found anything close (the closest was a C# API). Since I really needed it, I decided to just write one myself:

http://github.com/mastermind202/GoogleVoice

I hope others find it useful. Feedback and suggestions welcome.

'Linker command failed with exit code 1' when using Google Analytics via CocoaPods

Had this issue, but it wasn't related to the bitcode setting. I had somehow ended up with duplicate framework files in the Frameworks folder of my XCode project. I deleted all frameworks files that were red (and duplicates). This solved the "Apple Mach O, Linker Command failed with exit code 1" error.

Kubernetes how to make Deployment to update image

You can configure your pod with a grace period (for example 30 seconds or more, depending on container startup time and image size) and set "imagePullPolicy: "Always". And use kubectl delete pod pod_name. A new container will be created and the latest image automatically downloaded, then the old container terminated.

Example:

spec:
  terminationGracePeriodSeconds: 30
  containers:
  - name: my_container
    image: my_image:latest
    imagePullPolicy: "Always"

I'm currently using Jenkins for automated builds and image tagging and it looks something like this:

kubectl --user="kube-user" --server="https://kubemaster.example.com"  --token=$ACCESS_TOKEN set image deployment/my-deployment mycontainer=myimage:"$BUILD_NUMBER-$SHORT_GIT_COMMIT"

Another trick is to intially run:

kubectl set image deployment/my-deployment mycontainer=myimage:latest

and then:

kubectl set image deployment/my-deployment mycontainer=myimage

It will actually be triggering the rolling-update but be sure you have also imagePullPolicy: "Always" set.

Update:

another trick I found, where you don't have to change the image name, is to change the value of a field that will trigger a rolling update, like terminationGracePeriodSeconds. You can do this using kubectl edit deployment your_deployment or kubectl apply -f your_deployment.yaml or using a patch like this:

kubectl patch deployment your_deployment -p \
  '{"spec":{"template":{"spec":{"terminationGracePeriodSeconds":31}}}}'

Just make sure you always change the number value.

Find if a String is present in an array

This is what you're looking for:

List<String> dan = Arrays.asList("Red", "Orange", "Yellow", "Green", "Blue", "Violet", "Orange", "Blue");

boolean contains = dan.contains(say.getText());

If you have a list of not repeated values, prefer using a Set<String> which has the same contains method

How to remove all whitespace from a string?

In general, we want a solution that is vectorised, so here's a better test example:

whitespace <- " \t\n\r\v\f" # space, tab, newline,
                            # carriage return, vertical tab, form feed
x <- c(
  " x y ",           # spaces before, after and in between
  " \u2190 \u2192 ", # contains unicode chars
  paste0(            # varied whitespace
    whitespace,
    "x",
    whitespace,
    "y",
    whitespace,
    collapse = ""
  ),
  NA                 # missing
)
## [1] " x y "
## [2] " ? ? "
## [3] " \t\n\r\v\fx \t\n\r\v\fy \t\n\r\v\f"
## [4] NA

The base R approach: gsub

gsub replaces all instances of a string (fixed = TRUE) or regular expression (fixed = FALSE, the default) with another string. To remove all spaces, use:

gsub(" ", "", x, fixed = TRUE)
## [1] "xy"                            "??"
## [3] "\t\n\r\v\fx\t\n\r\v\fy\t\n\r\v\f" NA

As DWin noted, in this case fixed = TRUE isn't necessary but provides slightly better performance since matching a fixed string is faster than matching a regular expression.

If you want to remove all types of whitespace, use:

gsub("[[:space:]]", "", x) # note the double square brackets
## [1] "xy" "??" "xy" NA

gsub("\\s", "", x)         # same; note the double backslash

library(regex)
gsub(space(), "", x)       # same

"[:space:]" is an R-specific regular expression group matching all space characters. \s is a language-independent regular-expression that does the same thing.

The stringr approach: str_replace_all and str_trim

stringr provides more human-readable wrappers around the base R functions (though as of Dec 2014, the development version has a branch built on top of stringi, mentioned below). The equivalents of the above commands, using [str_replace_all][3], are:

library(stringr)
str_replace_all(x, fixed(" "), "")
str_replace_all(x, space(), "")

stringr also has a str_trim function which removes only leading and trailing whitespace.

str_trim(x)
## [1] "x y"          "? ?"          "x \t\n\r\v\fy" NA
str_trim(x, "left")
## [1] "x y "                   "? ? "
## [3] "x \t\n\r\v\fy \t\n\r\v\f" NA
str_trim(x, "right")
## [1] " x y"                   " ? ?"
## [3] " \t\n\r\v\fx \t\n\r\v\fy" NA

The stringi approach: stri_replace_all_charclass and stri_trim

stringi is built upon the platform-independent ICU library, and has an extensive set of string manipulation functions. The equivalents of the above are:

library(stringi)
stri_replace_all_fixed(x, " ", "")
stri_replace_all_charclass(x, "\\p{WHITE_SPACE}", "")

Here "\\p{WHITE_SPACE}" is an alternate syntax for the set of Unicode code points considered to be whitespace, equivalent to "[[:space:]]", "\\s" and space(). For more complex regular expression replacements, there is also stri_replace_all_regex.

stringi also has trim functions.

stri_trim(x)
stri_trim_both(x)    # same
stri_trim(x, "left")
stri_trim_left(x)    # same
stri_trim(x, "right")
stri_trim_right(x)   # same

How can I pause setInterval() functions?

i wrote a simple ES6 class that may come handy. inspired by https://stackoverflow.com/a/58580918/4907364 answer

export class IntervalTimer {
    private callbackStartTime;
    private remaining= 0;
    private paused= false;
    public timerId = null;
    private readonly _callback;
    private readonly _delay;

    constructor(callback, delay) {
        this._callback = callback;
        this._delay = delay;
    }

    pause() {
        if (!this.paused) {
            this.clear();
            this.remaining = new Date().getTime() - this.callbackStartTime;
            this.paused = true;
        }
    }

    resume() {
        if (this.paused) {
            if (this.remaining) {
                setTimeout(() => {
                    this.run();
                    this.paused = false;
                    this.start();
                }, this.remaining);
            } else {
                this.paused = false;
                this.start();
            }
        }
    }

    clear() {
        clearInterval(this.timerId);
    }

    start() {
        this.clear();
        this.timerId = setInterval(() => {
            this.run();
        }, this._delay);
    }

    private run() {
        this.callbackStartTime = new Date().getTime();
        this._callback();
    }
}

usage is pretty straightforward,

const interval = new IntervalTimer(console.log(aaa), 3000);
interval.start();
interval.pause();
interval.resume();
interval.clear();

Select <a> which href ends with some string

Selector documentation can be found at http://docs.jquery.com/Selectors

For attributes:

= is exactly equal
!= is not equal
^= is starts with
$= is ends with
*= is contains
~= is contains word
|= is starts with prefix (i.e., |= "prefix" matches "prefix-...")

Most Useful Attributes

[EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Never)] allows you to hide properties and methods from IntelliSense if the project is not in your solution. Very helpful for hiding invalid flows for fluent interfaces. How often do you want to GetHashCode() or Equals()?

For MVC [ActionName("Name")] allows you to have a Get action and Post action with the same method signature, or to use dashes in the action name, which otherwise would not be possible without creating a route for it.

Spring Boot Remove Whitelabel Error Page

You can remove it completely by specifying:

import org.springframework.context.annotation.Configuration;
import org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.web.servlet.error.ErrorMvcAutoConfiguration;
...
@Configuration
@EnableAutoConfiguration(exclude = {ErrorMvcAutoConfiguration.class})
public static MainApp { ... }

However, do note that doing so will probably cause servlet container's whitelabel pages to show up instead :)

EDIT: Another way to do this is via application.yaml. Just put in the value:

spring:
  autoconfigure:
    exclude: org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.web.servlet.error.ErrorMvcAutoConfiguration

Documentation

For Spring Boot < 2.0, the class is located in package org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.web.

Concatenation of strings in Lua

Concatenation:

The string concatenation operator in Lua is denoted by two dots ('..'). If both operands are strings or numbers, then they are converted to strings according to the rules mentioned in §2.2.1. Otherwise, the "concat" metamethod is called (see §2.8).

MongoDB or CouchDB - fit for production?

Speaking production, seamless failover/recovery both require a baby sitter
1- Couchbase, there is no seamless failover/recovery, manual intervention is required.
rebalancing takes too much time, too much risk if more than one node get lost.

2- Mongo with shards, data recovery from loosing a config server, is not an easy task

How to set the font size in Emacs?

M-x customize-face RET default will allow you to set the face default face, on which all other faces base on. There you can set the font-size.

Here is what is in my .emacs. actually, color-theme will set the basics, then my custom face setting will override some stuff. the custom-set-faces is written by emacs's customize-face mechanism:

;; my colour theme is whateveryouwant :)
(require 'color-theme)
(color-theme-initialize)
(color-theme-whateveryouwant)

(custom-set-faces
  ;; custom-set-faces was added by Custom.
  ;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful.
  ;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
  ;; If there is more than one, they won't work right.

f( x, y ) -> 2^x * 3^y

The downside is that the image tends to span quite a large range of integers so when it comes to expressing the mapping in a computer algorithm you may have issues with choosing an appropriate type for the result.

You could modify this to deal with negative x and y by encoding a flags with powers of 5 and 7 terms.

e.g.

f( x, y ) -> 2^|x| * 3^|y| * 5^(x<0) * 7^(y<0)

Delete all documents from index/type without deleting type

You have these alternatives:

1) Delete a whole index:

curl -XDELETE 'http://localhost:9200/indexName'

example:

curl -XDELETE 'http://localhost:9200/mentorz'

For more details you can find here -https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/indices-delete-index.html

2) Delete by Query to those that match:

curl -XDELETE 'http://localhost:9200/mentorz/users/_query' -d
    '{
        "query":
            {
                "match_all": {}
            }
    }'

*Here mentorz is an index name and users is a type

How to return a value from a Form in C#?

If you want to pass data to form2 from form1 without passing like new form(sting "data");

Do like that in form 1

using (Form2 form2= new Form2())
{
   form2.ReturnValue1 = "lalala";
   form2.ShowDialog();
}

in form 2 add

public string ReturnValue1 { get; set; }

private void form2_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
   MessageBox.Show(ReturnValue1);
}

Also you can use value in form1 like this if you want to swap something in form1

just in form1

textbox.Text =form2.ReturnValue1

Is there a foreach in MATLAB? If so, how does it behave if the underlying data changes?

MATLAB's FOR loop is static in nature; you cannot modify the loop variable between iterations, unlike the for(initialization;condition;increment) loop structure in other languages. This means that the following code always prints 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 regardless of the value of B.

A = 1:5;

for i = A
    A = B;
    disp(i);
end

If you want to be able to respond to changes in the data structure during iterations, a WHILE loop may be more appropriate --- you'll be able to test the loop condition at every iteration, and set the value of the loop variable(s) as you wish:

n = 10;
f = n;
while n > 1
    n = n-1;
    f = f*n;
end
disp(['n! = ' num2str(f)])

Btw, the for-each loop in Java (and possibly other languages) produces unspecified behavior when the data structure is modified during iteration. If you need to modify the data structure, you should use an appropriate Iterator instance which allows the addition and removal of elements in the collection you are iterating. The good news is that MATLAB supports Java objects, so you can do something like this:

A = java.util.ArrayList();
A.add(1);
A.add(2);
A.add(3);
A.add(4);
A.add(5);

itr = A.listIterator();

while itr.hasNext()

    k = itr.next();
    disp(k);

    % modify data structure while iterating
    itr.remove();
    itr.add(k);

end

How to split a string with angularJS

You may want to wrap that functionality up into a filter, this way you don't have to put the mySplit function in all of your controllers. For example

angular.module('myModule', [])
    .filter('split', function() {
        return function(input, splitChar, splitIndex) {
            // do some bounds checking here to ensure it has that index
            return input.split(splitChar)[splitIndex];
        }
    });

From here, you can use a filter as you originally intended

{{test | split:',':0}}
{{test | split:',':0}}

is it possible to add colors to python output?

If your console (like your standard ubuntu console) understands ANSI color codes, you can use those.

Here an example:

print ('This is \x1b[31mred\x1b[0m.')

The X-Frame-Options is defined in the Http Header and not in the <head> section of the page you want to use in the iframe.

Accepted values are: DENY, SAMEORIGIN and ALLOW-FROM "url"

How can I get the index from a JSON object with value?

In all previous solutions, you must know the name of the attribute or field. A more generic solution for any attribute is this:

let data =

    "name": "placeHolder",
    "section": "right"
}, {
    "name": "Overview",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "ByFunction",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "Time",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "allFit",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "allbMatches",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "allOffers",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "allInterests",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "allResponses",
    "section": "left"
}, {
    "name": "divChanged",
    "section": "right"
}]

function findByKey(key, value) {
    return (item, i) => item[key] === value
}

let findParams = findByKey('name', 'allOffers')
let index = data.findIndex(findParams)

is there any IE8 only css hack?

So a recent question prompted me to notice a selector set hack for excluding IE 8 only.

.selector, #excludeIE8::before {} will cause IE 8 to throw out the entire selector set, while 5-7 and 9-11 will read it just fine. Any of the :: selectors (::first-line, ::before, ::first-letter, ::selection) will work, I've merely chosen ::before so the line reads accurately. Note that the goal of the fake ::before selector is to be fake, so be sure to change it to something else if you actually have an element with the ID excludeIE8

Interestingly enough, in modern browsers (FF 45-52, GC 49-57, Edge 25/13) a bad :: selector eats the entire selector set (dabblet demo). It seems that the last Windows version of Safari (and LTE IE 7, lol) doesn't have this behavior while still understanding ::before. Additionally, I can't find anything in the spec to indicate that this is intended behavior, and since it would cause breakage on any selector set containing: ::future-legitimate-pseudoelement... I'm inclined to say this is a bug- and one that'll nibble our rears in the future.

However, if you only want something at the property level (rather than the rule level), Ziga above had the best solution via appending  \9 (the space is key; do NOT copypaste that inline as it uses an nbsp):

/*property-level hacks:*/
/*Standards, Edge*/
prop:val;
/*lte ie 11*/
prop:val\9;
/*lte ie 8*/
prop:val \9;
/*lte ie 7*/
*prop:val;
/*lte ie 6*/
_prop:val;

/*other direction...*/
/*gte ie 8, NOT Edge*/
prop:val\0;

Side note, I feel like a dirty necromancer- but I wanted somewhere to document the exclude-IE8-only selector set hack I found today, and this seemed to be the most fitting place.

SQLite "INSERT OR REPLACE INTO" vs. "UPDATE ... WHERE"

I'm currently working on such a statement and figured out another fact to notice: INSERT OR REPLACE will replace any values not supplied in the statement. For instance if your table contains a column "lastname" which you didn't supply a value for, INSERT OR REPLACE will nullify the "lastname" if possible (constraints allow it) or fail.

How to find my realm file?

One Easy Alternative For Simulator Apps

Create a smart folder/search in Finder. Gives quick and easy clickable access to all your realm files.

  1. Open the folder /Users/$USER/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices in Finder.

    With terminal open /Users/$USER/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices

  2. Search for .realm

  3. Change the search to look in the "Devices" folder only.

  1. Save the search to your sidebar (e.g. as Realms)

When sorted by date this will give you a quick and easy clickable list of the latest modified Simulator .realm files.

SQL Server 2008 Insert with WHILE LOOP

First of all I'd like to say that I 100% agree with John Saunders that you must avoid loops in SQL in most cases especially in production.

But occasionally as a one time thing to populate a table with a hundred records for testing purposes IMHO it's just OK to indulge yourself to use a loop.

For example in your case to populate your table with records with hospital ids between 16 and 100 and make emails and descriptions distinct you could've used

CREATE PROCEDURE populateHospitals
AS
DECLARE @hid INT;
SET @hid=16;
WHILE @hid < 100
BEGIN
    INSERT hospitals ([Hospital ID], Email, Description)
    VALUES(@hid, 'user' + LTRIM(STR(@hid)) + '@mail.com', 'Sample Description' + LTRIM(STR(@hid)));
    SET @hid = @hid + 1;
END

And result would be

ID   Hospital ID Email            Description
---- ----------- ---------------- ---------------------
1    16          [email protected]  Sample Description16
2    17          [email protected]  Sample Description17
...
84   99          [email protected]  Sample Description99

Best way to generate xml?

I've tried a some of the solutions in this thread, and unfortunately, I found some of them to be cumbersome (i.e. requiring excessive effort when doing something non-trivial) and inelegant. Consequently, I thought I'd throw my preferred solution, web2py HTML helper objects, into the mix.

First, install the the standalone web2py module:

pip install web2py

Unfortunately, the above installs an extremely antiquated version of web2py, but it'll be good enough for this example. The updated source is here.

Import web2py HTML helper objects documented here.

from gluon.html import *

Now, you can use web2py helpers to generate XML/HTML.

words = ['this', 'is', 'my', 'item', 'list']
# helper function
create_item = lambda idx, word: LI(word, _id = 'item_%s' % idx, _class = 'item')
# create the HTML
items = [create_item(idx, word) for idx,word in enumerate(words)]
ul = UL(items, _id = 'my_item_list', _class = 'item_list')
my_div = DIV(ul, _class = 'container')

>>> my_div

<gluon.html.DIV object at 0x00000000039DEAC8>

>>> my_div.xml()
# I added the line breaks for clarity
<div class="container">
   <ul class="item_list" id="my_item_list">
      <li class="item" id="item_0">this</li>
      <li class="item" id="item_1">is</li>
      <li class="item" id="item_2">my</li>
      <li class="item" id="item_3">item</li>
      <li class="item" id="item_4">list</li>
   </ul>
</div>

Determining whether an object is a member of a collection in VBA

Not exactly elegant, but the best (and quickest) solution i could find was using OnError. This will be significantly faster than iteration for any medium to large collection.

    errNumber = CLng(Err.Number)
  On Error GoTo 0

  '5 is not in, 0 and 438 represent incollection
  If errNumber = 5 Then ' it is 5 if not in collection
    InCollection = False
  Else
    InCollection = True

Maximum length of the textual representation of an IPv6 address?

As indicated a standard ipv6 address is at most 45 chars, but an ipv6 address can also include an ending % followed by a "scope" or "zone" string, which has no fixed length but is generally a small positive integer or a network interface name, so in reality it can be bigger than 45 characters. Network interface names are typically "eth0", "eth1", "wlan0", so choosing 50 as the limit is likely good enough.

AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute

For me, the reason for this error was that there was a folder with the same name as the python module I was trying to import.

|-- core <-- empty directory on the same level as the module that throws the error

And python treated that folder as a python package and tried to import from that empty package "core", not from core.py.

Seems like for some reason git left that empty folder during the branches switch

So I just removed that folder and everything worked like a charm

Editable text to string

If I understand correctly, you want to get the String of an Editable object, right? If yes, try using toString().

Python map object is not subscriptable

In Python 3, map returns an iterable object of type map, and not a subscriptible list, which would allow you to write map[i]. To force a list result, write

payIntList = list(map(int,payList))

However, in many cases, you can write out your code way nicer by not using indices. For example, with list comprehensions:

payIntList = [pi + 1000 for pi in payList]
for pi in payIntList:
    print(pi)

CSS3 transition doesn't work with display property

Made some changes, but I think I got the effect you want using visibility. http://jsfiddle.net/9dsGP/49/

I also made these changes:

position: absolute; /* so it doesn't expand the button background */
top: calc(1em + 8px); /* so it's under the "button" */
left:8px; /* so it's shifted by padding-left */
width: 182px; /* so it fits nicely under the button, width - padding-left - padding-right - border-left-width - border-right-width, 200 - 8 - 8 - 1 - 1 = 182 */

Alternatively, you could put .content as a sibling of .button, but I didn't make an example for this.

How do you echo a 4-digit Unicode character in Bash?

So long as your text-editors can cope with Unicode (presumably encoded in UTF-8) you can enter the Unicode code-point directly.

For instance, in the Vim text-editor you would enter insert mode and press Ctrl + V + U and then the code-point number as a 4-digit hexadecimal number (pad with zeros if necessary). So you would type Ctrl + V + U 2 6 2 0. See: What is the easiest way to insert Unicode characters into a document?

At a terminal running Bash you would type CTRL+SHIFT+U and type in the hexadecimal code-point of the character you want. During input your cursor should show an underlined u. The first non-digit you type ends input, and renders the character. So you could be able to print U+2620 in Bash using the following:

echo CTRL+SHIFT+U2620ENTERENTER

(The first enter ends Unicode input, and the second runs the echo command.)

LaTeX Optional Arguments

I had a similar problem, when I wanted to create a command, \dx, to abbreviate \;\mathrm{d}x (i.e. put an extra space before the differential of the integral and have the "d" upright as well). But then I also wanted to make it flexible enough to include the variable of integration as an optional argument. I put the following code in the preamble.

\usepackage{ifthen}

\newcommand{\dx}[1][]{%
   \ifthenelse{ \equal{#1}{} }
      {\ensuremath{\;\mathrm{d}x}}
      {\ensuremath{\;\mathrm{d}#1}}
}

Then

\begin{document}
   $$\int x\dx$$
   $$\int t\dx[t]$$
\end{document}

gives \dx with optional argument

How to get a substring between two strings in PHP?

I have to add something to the post of Julius Tilvikas. I looked for a solution like this one he described in his post. But i think there is a mistake. I don't get realy the string between two string, i also get more with this solution, because i have to substract the lenght of the start-string. When do this, i realy get the String between two strings.

Here are my changes of his solution:

function get_string_between ($string, $start, $end, $inclusive = false){
    $string = " ".$string;

    if ($start == "") { $ini = 0; }
    else { $ini = strpos($string, $start); }

    if ($end == "") { $len = strlen($string); }
    else { $len = strpos($string, $end, $ini) - $ini - strlen($start);}

    if (!$inclusive) { $ini += strlen($start); }
    else { $len += strlen($end); }

    return substr($string, $ini, $len);
}

Reasons for a 409/Conflict HTTP error when uploading a file to sharepoint using a .NET WebRequest?

We are also getting the same error while we are trying to access a same resource with in milliseconds. Like if i try to POST some data to www.abc.com/blog and with in milliseconds an other request will also go for the same resource i.e. www.abc.com/blog from the same user. So it'll give the 409 error.

Can not deserialize instance of java.util.ArrayList out of VALUE_STRING

This is the solution for my old question:

I implemented my own ContextResolver in order to enable the DeserializationConfig.Feature.ACCEPT_SINGLE_VALUE_AS_ARRAY feature.

package org.lig.hadas.services.mapper;

import javax.ws.rs.Produces;
import javax.ws.rs.core.MediaType;
import javax.ws.rs.ext.ContextResolver;
import javax.ws.rs.ext.Provider;

import org.codehaus.jackson.map.DeserializationConfig;
import org.codehaus.jackson.map.ObjectMapper;

@Produces(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON)
@Provider
public class ObjectMapperProvider implements ContextResolver<ObjectMapper>
{
   ObjectMapper mapper;

   public ObjectMapperProvider(){
       mapper = new ObjectMapper();
       mapper.configure(DeserializationConfig.Feature.ACCEPT_SINGLE_VALUE_AS_ARRAY, true);
   }
   @Override
   public ObjectMapper getContext(Class<?> type) {
       return mapper;
   }
}

And in the web.xml I registered my package into the servlet definition...

<servlet>
    <servlet-name>...</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.sun.jersey.spi.container.servlet.ServletContainer</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
        <param-name>com.sun.jersey.config.property.packages</param-name>
        <param-value>...;org.lig.hadas.services.mapper</param-value>
    </init-param>
    ...
</servlet>

... all the rest is transparently done by jersey/jackson.

Styling a disabled input with css only

A space in a CSS selector selects child elements.

.btn input

This is basically what you wrote and it would select <input> elements within any element that has the btn class.

I think you're looking for

input[disabled].btn:hover, input[disabled].btn:active, input[disabled].btn:focus

This would select <input> elements with the disabled attribute and the btn class in the three different states of hover, active and focus.

LinkButton Send Value to Code Behind OnClick

Just add to the CommandArgument parameter and read it out on the Click handler:

<asp:LinkButton ID="ENameLinkBtn" runat="server"
    style="font-weight: 700; font-size: 8pt;" CommandArgument="YourValueHere"
    OnClick="ENameLinkBtn_Click" >

Then in your click event:

protected void ENameLinkBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    LinkButton btn = (LinkButton)(sender);
    string yourValue = btn.CommandArgument;
    // do what you need here
}

Also you can set the CommandArgument argument when binding if you are using the LinkButton in any bindable controls by doing:

CommandArgument='<%# Eval("SomeFieldYouNeedArguementFrom") %>'

Adding machineKey to web.config on web-farm sites

This should answer:

How To: Configure MachineKey in ASP.NET 2.0 - Web Farm Deployment Considerations

Web Farm Deployment Considerations

If you deploy your application in a Web farm, you must ensure that the configuration files on each server share the same value for validationKey and decryptionKey, which are used for hashing and decryption respectively. This is required because you cannot guarantee which server will handle successive requests.

With manually generated key values, the settings should be similar to the following example.

<machineKey
validationKey="21F090935F6E49C2C797F69BBAAD8402ABD2EE0B667A8B44EA7DD4374267A75D7
               AD972A119482D15A4127461DB1DC347C1A63AE5F1CCFAACFF1B72A7F0A281B"

decryptionKey="ABAA84D7EC4BB56D75D217CECFFB9628809BDB8BF91CFCD64568A145BE59719F"
validation="SHA1"
decryption="AES"
/>

If you want to isolate your application from other applications on the same server, place the in the Web.config file for each application on each server in the farm. Ensure that you use separate key values for each application, but duplicate each application's keys across all servers in the farm.

In short, to set up the machine key refer the following link: Setting Up a Machine Key - Orchard Documentation.

Setting Up the Machine Key Using IIS Manager

If you have access to the IIS management console for the server where Orchard is installed, it is the easiest way to set-up a machine key.

Start the management console and then select the web site. Open the machine key configuration: The IIS web site configuration panel

The machine key control panel has the following settings:

The machine key configuration panel

Uncheck "Automatically generate at runtime" for both the validation key and the decryption key.

Click "Generate Keys" under "Actions" on the right side of the panel.

Click "Apply".

and add the following line to the web.config file in all the webservers under system.web tag if it does not exist.

<machineKey
    validationKey="21F0SAMPLEKEY9C2C797F69BBAAD8402ABD2EE0B667A8B44EA7DD4374267A75D7
                   AD972A119482D15A4127461DB1DC347C1A63AE5F1CCFAACFF1B72A7F0A281B"
    decryptionKey="ABAASAMPLEKEY56D75D217CECFFB9628809BDB8BF91CFCD64568A145BE59719F"
    validation="SHA1"
    decryption="AES"
/>

Please make sure that you have a permanent backup of the machine keys and web.config file

XMLHttpRequest (Ajax) Error

I see 2 possible problems:

Problem 1

  • the XMLHTTPRequest object has not finished loading the data at the time you are trying to use it

Solution: assign a callback function to the objects "onreadystatechange" -event and handle the data in that function

xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = callbackFunctionName;

Once the state has reached DONE (4), the response content is ready to be read.

Problem 2

  • the XMLHTTPRequest object does not exist in all browsers (by that name)

Solution: Either use a try-catch for creating the correct object for correct browser ( ActiveXObject in IE) or use a framework, for example jQuery ajax-method

Note: if you decide to use jQuery ajax-method, you assign the callback-function with jqXHR.done()

jQuery text() and newlines

$(someElem).html('this<br> has<br> newlines);

how to set textbox value in jquery

Note that the .value attribute is a JavaScript feature. If you want to use jQuery, use:

$('#pid').val()

to get the value, and:

$('#pid').val('value')

to set it.

http://api.jquery.com/val/

Regarding your second issue, I have never tried automatically setting the HTML value using the load method. For sure, you can do something like this:

$('#subtotal').load( 'compz.php?prodid=' + x + '&qbuys=' + y, function(response){ $('#subtotal').val(response);
});

Note that the code above is untested.

Yii2 data provider default sorting

if you have CRUD (index) and you need set default sorting your controller for GridView, or ListView, or more... Example

public function actionIndex()

    // set default sorting
    $dataProvider->sort->defaultOrder = ['id' => SORT_DESC];

    return $this->render('index', [
        'searchModel' => $searchModel,
        'dataProvider' => $dataProvider,
    ]);
}

you need add

$dataProvider->sort->defaultOrder = ['id' => SORT_DESC];

Fatal error: Class 'PHPMailer' not found

I suggest you look into getting composer. https://getcomposer.org Composer makes getting third-party libraries a LOT easier and using a single autoloader for all of them. It also standardizes on where all your dependencies are located, along with some automatization capabilities.

Download https://getcomposer.org/composer.phar to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php

Delete your C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php\PHPMailer\ directory.

Use composer.phar to get the phpmailer package using the command line to execute

cd C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php
php composer.phar require phpmailer/phpmailer

After it is finished it will create a C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php\vendor directory along with all of the phpmailer files and generate an autoloader.

Next in your main project configuration file you need to include the autoload file.

require_once 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php\vendor\autoload.php';

The vendor\autoload.php will include the information for you to use $mail = new \PHPMailer;

Additional information on the PHPMailer package can be found at https://packagist.org/packages/phpmailer/phpmailer

Getting "conflicting types for function" in C, why?

In "classic" C language (C89/90) when you call an undeclared function, C assumes that it returns an int and also attempts to derive the types of its parameters from the types of the actual arguments (no, it doesn't assume that it has no parameters, as someone suggested before).

In your specific example the compiler would look at do_something(dest, src) call and implicitly derive a declaration for do_something. The latter would look as follows

int do_something(char *, char *)

However, later in the code you explicitly declare do_something as

char *do_something(char *, const char *)

As you can see, these declarations are different from each other. This is what the compiler doesn't like.

How do I read all classes from a Java package in the classpath?

Brent - the reason the association is one way has to do with the fact that any class on any component of your CLASSPATH can declare itself in any package (except for java/javax). Thus there just is no mapping of ALL the classes in a given "package" because nobody knows nor can know. You could update a jar file tomorrow and remove or add classes. It's like trying to get a list of all people named John/Jon/Johan in all the countries of the world - none of us is omniscient therefore none of us will ever have the correct answer.

How to pass parameter to function using in addEventListener?

When you use addEventListener, this will be bound automatically. So if you want a reference to the element on which the event handler is installed, just use this from within your function:

productLineSelect.addEventListener('change',getSelection,false);

function getSelection(){
    var value = sel.options[this.selectedIndex].value;
    alert(value);
}

If you want to pass in some other argument from the context where you call addEventListener, you can use a closure, like this:

productLineSelect.addEventListener('change', function(){
    // pass in `this` (the element), and someOtherVar
    getSelection(this, someOtherVar);
},false);

function getSelection(sel, someOtherVar){
    var value = sel.options[sel.selectedIndex].value;
    alert(value);
    alert(someOtherVar);
}

Can I obtain method parameter name using Java reflection?

To add my 2 cents; parameter info is available in a class file "for debugging" when you use javac -g to compile the source. And it is available to APT but you'll need an annotation so no use to you. (Somebody discussed something similar 4-5 years ago here: http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=13467&tstart=0 )

Overall in-short you can't get it unless you work on Source files directly (similar to what APT does at compile time).

Difference between timestamps with/without time zone in PostgreSQL

I try to explain it more understandably than the referred PostgreSQL documentation.

Neither TIMESTAMP variants store a time zone (or an offset), despite what the names suggest. The difference is in the interpretation of the stored data (and in the intended application), not in the storage format itself:

  • TIMESTAMP WITHOUT TIME ZONE stores local date-time (aka. wall calendar date and wall clock time). Its time zone is unspecified as far as PostgreSQL can tell (though your application may knows what it is). Hence, PostgreSQL does no time zone related conversion on input or output. If the value was entered into the database as '2011-07-01 06:30:30', then no mater in what time zone you display it later, it will still say year 2011, month 07, day 01, 06 hours, 30 minutes, and 30 seconds (in some format). Also, any offset or time zone you specify in the input is ignored by PostgreSQL, so '2011-07-01 06:30:30+00' and '2011-07-01 06:30:30+05' are the same as just '2011-07-01 06:30:30'. For Java developers: it's analogous to java.time.LocalDateTime.

  • TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE stores a point on the UTC time line. How it looks (how many hours, minutes, etc.) depends on your time zone, but it always refers to the same "physical" instant (like the moment of an actual physical event). The input is internally converted to UTC, and that's how it's stored. For that, the offset of the input must be known, so when the input contains no explicit offset or time zone (like '2011-07-01 06:30:30') it's assumed to be in the current time zone of the PostgreSQL session, otherwise the explicitly specified offset or time zone is used (as in '2011-07-01 06:30:30+05'). The output is displayed converted to the current time zone of the PostgreSQL session. For Java developers: It's analogous to java.time.Instant (with lower resolution though), but with JDBC and JPA 2.2 you are supposed to map it to java.time.OffsetDateTime (or to java.util.Date or java.sql.Timestamp of course).

Some say that both TIMESTAMP variations store UTC date-time. Kind of, but it's confusing to put it that way in my opinion. TIMESTAMP WITHOUT TIME ZONE is stored like a TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE, which rendered with UTC time zone happens to give the same year, month, day, hours, minutes, seconds, and microseconds as they are in the local date-time. But it's not meant to represent the point on the time line that the UTC interpretation says, it's just the way the local date-time fields are encoded. (It's some cluster of dots on the time line, as the real time zone is not UTC; we don't know what it is.)

How to rename a single column in a data.frame?

You can use the rename.vars in the gdata package.

library(gdata)
df <- rename.vars(df, from = "oldname", to = "newname")

This is particularly useful where you have more than one variable name to change or you want to append or pre-pend some text to the variable names, then you can do something like:

df <- rename.vars(df, from = c("old1", "old2", "old3",
         to = c("new1", "new2", "new3"))

For an example of appending text to a subset of variables names see: https://stackoverflow.com/a/28870000/180892

Ruby on Rails. How do I use the Active Record .build method in a :belongs to relationship?

Where it is documented:

From the API documentation under the has_many association in "Module ActiveRecord::Associations::ClassMethods"

collection.build(attributes = {}, …) Returns one or more new objects of the collection type that have been instantiated with attributes and linked to this object through a foreign key, but have not yet been saved. Note: This only works if an associated object already exists, not if it‘s nil!

The answer to building in the opposite direction is a slightly altered syntax. In your example with the dogs,

Class Dog
   has_many :tags
   belongs_to :person
end

Class Person
  has_many :dogs
end

d = Dog.new
d.build_person(:attributes => "go", :here => "like normal")

or even

t = Tag.new
t.build_dog(:name => "Rover", :breed => "Maltese")

You can also use create_dog to have it saved instantly (much like the corresponding "create" method you can call on the collection)

How to do SQL Like % in Linq?

I'm assuming you're using Linq-to-SQL* (see note below). If so, use string.Contains, string.StartsWith, and string.EndsWith to generate SQL that use the SQL LIKE operator.

from o in dc.Organization
join oh in dc.OrganizationsHierarchy on o.Id equals oh.OrganizationsId
where oh.Hierarchy.Contains(@"/12/")
select new { o.Id, o.Name }

or

from o in dc.Organization
where o.OrganizationsHierarchy.Hierarchy.Contains(@"/12/")
select new { o.Id, o.Name }

Note: * = if you are using the ADO.Net Entity Framework (EF / L2E) in .net 3.5, be aware that it will not do the same translation as Linq-to-SQL. Although L2S does a proper translation, L2E v1 (3.5) will translate into a t-sql expression that will force a full table scan on the table you're querying unless there is another better discriminator in your where clause or join filters.
Update: This is fixed in EF/L2E v4 (.net 4.0), so it will generate a SQL LIKE just like L2S does.

HTML to PDF with Node.js

Package

I used html-pdf

Easy to use and allows not only to save pdf as file, but also pipe pdf content to a WriteStream (so I could stream it directly to Google Storage to save there my reports).

Using css + images

It takes css into account. The only problem I faced - it ignored my images. The solution I found was to replace url in src attrribute value by base64, e.g.

<img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBOR...kSuQmCC">

You can do it with your code or to use one of online converters, e.g. https://www.base64-image.de/

Compile valid html code from html fragment + css

  1. I had to get a fragment of my html document (I just appiled .html() method on jQuery selector).
  2. Then I've read the content of the relevant css file.

Using this two values (stored in variables html and css accordingly) I've compiled a valid html code using Template string

var htmlContent = `
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <style>
      ${css}
    </style>
  </head>
  <body id=direct-sellers-bill>
    ${html}
  </body>
</html>`

and passed it to create method of html-pdf.

How can I change an element's class with JavaScript?

classList DOM API:

A very convenient manner of adding and removing classes is the classList DOM API. This API allows us to select all classes of a specific DOM element in order to modify the list using javascript. For example:

_x000D_
_x000D_
const el = document.getElementById("main");_x000D_
console.log(el.classList);
_x000D_
<div class="content wrapper animated" id="main"></div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

We can observe in the log that we are getting back an object with not only the classes of the element, but also many auxiliary methods and properties. This object inherits from the interface DOMTokenList, an interface which is used in the DOM to represent a set of space separated tokens (like classes).

Example:

_x000D_
_x000D_
const el = document.getElementById('container');_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_
function addClass () {_x000D_
   el.classList.add('newclass');_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_
function replaceClass () {_x000D_
     el.classList.replace('foo', 'newFoo');_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_
function removeClass () {_x000D_
       el.classList.remove('bar');_x000D_
}

How to create a Rectangle object in Java using g.fillRect method

Try this:

public void paint (Graphics g) {
    Rectangle r = new Rectangle(xPos,yPos,width,height);
    g.fillRect(r.getX(), r.getY(), r.getWidth(), r.getHeight());
}

[edit]

// With explicit casting
public void paint (Graphics g) {
        Rectangle r = new Rectangle(xPos, yPos, width, height);
        g.fillRect(
           (int)r.getX(),
           (int)r.getY(),
           (int)r.getWidth(),
           (int)r.getHeight()
        );
    }

Runtime vs. Compile time

we can classify these under different two broad groups static binding and dynamic binding. It is based on when the binding is done with the corresponding values. If the references are resolved at compile time, then it is static binding and if the references are resolved at runtime then it is dynamic binding. Static binding and dynamic binding also called as early binding and late binding. Sometimes they are also referred as static polymorphism and dynamic polymorphism.

Cannot deserialize instance of object out of START_ARRAY token in Spring Webservice

I've had a very similar issue using spring-boot-starter-data-redis. To my implementation there was offered a @Bean for RedisTemplate as follows:

@Bean
public RedisTemplate<String, List<RoutePlantCache>> redisTemplate(RedisConnectionFactory connectionFactory) {
    final RedisTemplate<String, List<RoutePlantCache>> template = new RedisTemplate<>();
    template.setConnectionFactory(connectionFactory);
    template.setKeySerializer(new StringRedisSerializer());
    template.setValueSerializer(new Jackson2JsonRedisSerializer<>(RoutePlantCache.class));

    // Add some specific configuration here. Key serializers, etc.
    return template;
}

The fix was to specify an array of RoutePlantCache as following:

template.setValueSerializer(new Jackson2JsonRedisSerializer<>(RoutePlantCache[].class));

Below the exception I had:

Explain ggplot2 warning: "Removed k rows containing missing values"

Even if your data falls within your specified limits (e.g. c(0, 335)), adding a geom_jitter() statement could push some points outside those limits, producing the same error message.

library(ggplot2)

range(mtcars$hp)
#> [1]  52 335

# No jitter -- no error message
ggplot(mtcars, aes(mpg, hp)) +
    geom_point() +
    scale_y_continuous(limits=c(0,335))

# Jitter is too large -- this generates the error message
ggplot(mtcars, aes(mpg, hp)) +
    geom_point() +
    geom_jitter(position = position_jitter(w = 0.2, h = 0.2)) +
    scale_y_continuous(limits=c(0,335))
#> Warning: Removed 1 rows containing missing values (geom_point).

How to redirect the output of the time command to a file in Linux?

Simple. The GNU time utility has an option for that.

But you have to ensure that you are not using your shell's builtin time command, at least the bash builtin does not provide that option! That's why you need to give the full path of the time utility:

/usr/bin/time -o time.txt sleep 1

PHP session handling errors

you have to change your session.save_path setting to the accessible dir, /tmp/ for example

How to change: http://php.net/session_save_path

Being on the shared host, it is advised to set your session save path inside of your home directory but below document root

also note that

  • using ob_start is unnecessary here,
  • and I am sure you put @ operator by accident and already going to remove it forever, don't you?

REST API - why use PUT DELETE POST GET?

This is a security and maintainability question.

safe methods

Whenever possible, you should use 'safe' (unidirectional) methods such as GET and HEAD in order to limit potential vulnerability.

idempotent methods

Whenever possible, you should use 'idempotent' methods such as GET, HEAD, PUT and DELETE, which can't have side effects and are therefore less error prone/easier to control.

How can I use NSError in my iPhone App?

Another design pattern that I have seen involves using blocks, which is especially useful when a method is being run asynchronously.

Say we have the following error codes defined:

typedef NS_ENUM(NSInteger, MyErrorCodes) {
    MyErrorCodesEmptyString = 500,
    MyErrorCodesInvalidURL,
    MyErrorCodesUnableToReachHost,
};

You would define your method that can raise an error like so:

- (void)getContentsOfURL:(NSString *)path success:(void(^)(NSString *html))success failure:(void(^)(NSError *error))failure {
    if (path.length == 0) {
        if (failure) {
            failure([NSError errorWithDomain:@"com.example" code:MyErrorCodesEmptyString userInfo:nil]);
        }
        return;
    }

    NSString *htmlContents = @"";

    // Exercise for the reader: get the contents at that URL or raise another error.

    if (success) {
        success(htmlContents);
    }
}

And then when you call it, you don't need to worry about declaring the NSError object (code completion will do it for you), or checking the returning value. You can just supply two blocks: one that will get called when there is an exception, and one that gets called when it succeeds:

[self getContentsOfURL:@"http://google.com" success:^(NSString *html) {
    NSLog(@"Contents: %@", html);
} failure:^(NSError *error) {
    NSLog(@"Failed to get contents: %@", error);
    if (error.code == MyErrorCodesEmptyString) { // make sure to check the domain too
        NSLog(@"You must provide a non-empty string");
    }
}];

How to get all selected values from <select multiple=multiple>?

Actually, I found the best, most-succinct, fastest, and most-compatible way using pure JavaScript (assuming you don't need to fully support IE lte 8) is the following:

var values = Array.prototype.slice.call(document.querySelectorAll('#select-meal-type option:checked'),0).map(function(v,i,a) {
    return v.value;
});

UPDATE (2017-02-14):

An even more succinct way using ES6/ES2015 (for the browsers that support it):

const selected = document.querySelectorAll('#select-meal-type option:checked');
const values = Array.from(selected).map(el => el.value);

Jquery Ajax, return success/error from mvc.net controller

 $.ajax({
    type: "POST",
    data: formData,
    url: "/Forms/GetJobData",
    dataType: 'json',
    contentType: false,
    processData: false,
    success: function (response) {
        if (response.success) {
            alert(response.responseText);
        } else {
            // DoSomethingElse()
            alert(response.responseText);
        }
    },
    error: function (response) {
        alert("error!");  //
    }

});

Controller:

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult GetJobData(Jobs jobData)
{
    var mimeType = jobData.File.ContentType;
    var isFileSupported = IsFileSupported(mimeType);

    if (!isFileSupported){
         //  Send "false"
        return Json(new { success = false, responseText = "The attached file is not supported." }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
    }
    else
    {
        //  Send "Success"
        return Json(new { success = true, responseText= "Your message successfuly sent!"}, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
    }
}

---Supplement:---

basically you can send multiple parameters this way:

Controller:

 return Json(new {
                success = true,
                Name = model.Name,
                Phone = model.Phone,
                Email = model.Email
            },
            JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);

Html:

<script>
     $.ajax({
                type: "POST",
                url: '@Url.Action("GetData")',
                contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8',
                success: function (response) {

                   if(response.success){
                      console.log(response.Name);
                      console.log(response.Phone);
                      console.log(response.Email);
                    }

                },
                error: function (response) {
                    alert("error!");
                }
            });

You're missing the return statement because if your list size is 0, the for loop will never execute, thus the if will never run, and thus you will never return.

Move the if statement out of the loop.

        })
    .OrderBy(x => x.name);

Why does configure say no C compiler found when GCC is installed?

try yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

if the installation is success then you will have a full set of development tools. Such as gcc, g++, make, ld ect. After that you can try the compilation of Code Blocks again.

Since yum is deprecated you can use dnf instead:

dnf groupinstall "Development Tools"

Unresolved external symbol on static class members

in my case, I declared one static variable in .h file, like

//myClass.h
class myClass
{
static int m_nMyVar;
static void myFunc();
}

and in myClass.cpp, I tried to use this m_nMyVar. It got LINK error like:

error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static class... The link error related cpp file looks like:

//myClass.cpp
void myClass::myFunc()
{
myClass::m_nMyVar = 123; //I tried to use this m_nMyVar here and got link error
}

So I add below code on the top of myClass.cpp

//myClass.cpp
int myClass::m_nMyVar; //it seems redefine m_nMyVar, but it works well
void myClass::myFunc()
{
myClass::m_nMyVar = 123; //I tried to use this m_nMyVar here and got link error
}

then LNK2001 is gone.

Differences between "java -cp" and "java -jar"?

java -cp CLASSPATH is necesssary if you wish to specify all code in the classpath. This is useful for debugging code.

The jarred executable format: java -jar JarFile can be used if you wish to start the app with a single short command. You can specify additional dependent jar files in your MANIFEST using space separated jars in a Class-Path entry, e.g.:

Class-Path: mysql.jar infobus.jar acme/beans.jar

Both are comparable in terms of performance.

Laravel 5.4 ‘cross-env’ Is Not Recognized as an Internal or External Command

Set element focus in angular way

The problem with your solution is that it does not work well when tied down to other directives that creates a new scope, e.g. ng-repeat. A better solution would be to simply create a service function that enables you to focus elements imperatively within your controllers or to focus elements declaratively in the html.

DEMO

JAVASCRIPT

Service

 .factory('focus', function($timeout, $window) {
    return function(id) {
      // timeout makes sure that it is invoked after any other event has been triggered.
      // e.g. click events that need to run before the focus or
      // inputs elements that are in a disabled state but are enabled when those events
      // are triggered.
      $timeout(function() {
        var element = $window.document.getElementById(id);
        if(element)
          element.focus();
      });
    };
  });

Directive

  .directive('eventFocus', function(focus) {
    return function(scope, elem, attr) {
      elem.on(attr.eventFocus, function() {
        focus(attr.eventFocusId);
      });

      // Removes bound events in the element itself
      // when the scope is destroyed
      scope.$on('$destroy', function() {
        elem.off(attr.eventFocus);
      });
    };
  });

Controller

.controller('Ctrl', function($scope, focus) {
    $scope.doSomething = function() {
      // do something awesome
      focus('email');
    };
  });

HTML

Checking if a textbox is empty in Javascript

function valid(id)
    {
        var textVal=document.getElementById(id).value;
        if (!textVal.match("Tryit")
        {
            alert("Field says Tryit");
            return false;
        }
        else
        {
            return true;
        }
     }

Use this for expressing things

Uploading file using POST request in Node.js

Looks like you're already using request module.

in this case all you need to post multipart/form-data is to use its form feature:

var req = request.post(url, function (err, resp, body) {
  if (err) {
    console.log('Error!');
  } else {
    console.log('URL: ' + body);
  }
});
var form = req.form();
form.append('file', '<FILE_DATA>', {
  filename: 'myfile.txt',
  contentType: 'text/plain'
});

but if you want to post some existing file from your file system, then you may simply pass it as a readable stream:

form.append('file', fs.createReadStream(filepath));

request will extract all related metadata by itself.

For more information on posting multipart/form-data see node-form-data module, which is internally used by request.

How to beautify JSON in Python?

Try underscore-cli:

cat myfile.json | underscore print --color

It's a pretty nifty tool that can elegantly do a lot of manipulation of structured data, execute js snippets, fill templates, etc. It's ridiculously well documented, polished, and ready for serious use. And I wrote it. :)

#1146 - Table 'phpmyadmin.pma_recent' doesn't exist

I also have same problem.. I tried everything solution in google, but still error.

But, now i resolved it.

I've resolved with make give double slash like that:

//$cfg['Servers'][1]['table_uiprefs'] = 'pma__table_uiprefs';

It works!!

Run as java application option disabled in eclipse

Copying formula to the next row when inserting a new row

One other key thing that I found regarding copying rows within a table, is that the worksheet you are working on needs to be activated. If you have a workbook with multiple sheets, you need to save the sheet you called the macro from, and then activate the sheet with the table. Once you are done, you can re-activate the original sheet.

You can use Application.ScreenUpdating = False to make sure the user doesn't see that you are switching worksheets within your macro.

If you don't have the worksheet activated, the copy doesn't seem to work properly, i.e. some stuff seem to work, and other stuff doesn't ??

A SELECT statement that assigns a value to a variable must not be combined with data-retrieval operations

Column values from the SELECT statement are assigned into @low and @day local variables; the @adjustedLow value is not assigned into any variable and it causes the problem:

The problem is here:

select
    top 1 @low = low
    , @day = day
    , @adjustedLow  -- causes error!
--select high
from
    securityquote sq
...

Detailed explanation and workaround: SQL Server Error Messages - Msg 141 - A SELECT statement that assigns a value to a variable must not be combined with data-retrieval operations.

Java: how to initialize String[]?

String[] arr = {"foo", "bar"};

If you pass a string array to a method, do:

myFunc(arr);

or do:

myFunc(new String[] {"foo", "bar"});

Padding characters in printf

Bash + seq to allow parameter expansion

Similar to @Dennis Williamson answer, but if seq is available, the length of the pad string need not be hardcoded. The following code allows for passing a variable to the script as a positional parameter:

COLUMNS="${COLUMNS:=80}"
padlength="${1:-$COLUMNS}"
pad=$(printf '\x2D%.0s' $(seq "$padlength") )

string2='bbbbbbb'
for string1 in a aa aaaa aaaaaaaa
do
     printf '%s' "$string1"
     printf '%*.*s' 0 $(("$padlength" - "${#string1}" - "${#string2}" )) "$pad"
     printf '%s\n' "$string2"
     string2=${string2:1}
done

The ASCII code "2D" is used instead of the character "-" to avoid the shell interpreting it as a command flag. Another option is "3D" to use "=".

In absence of any padlength passed as an argument, the code above defaults to the 80 character standard terminal width.

To take advantage of the the bash shell variable COLUMNS (i.e., the width of the current terminal), the environment variable would need to be available to the script. One way is to source all the environment variables by executing the script preceded by . ("dot" command), like this:

. /path/to/script

or (better) explicitly pass the COLUMNS variable when executing, like this:

/path/to/script $COLUMNS

Reason for Column is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause

Your query will work in MYSQL if you set to disable ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY server mode (and by default It is). But in this case, you are using different RDBMS. So to make your query work, add all non-aggregated columns to your GROUP BY clause, eg

SELECT col1, col2, SUM(col3) totalSUM
FROM tableName
GROUP BY col1, col2

Non-Aggregated columns means the column is not pass into aggregated functions like SUM, MAX, COUNT, etc..

Performance of Arrays vs. Lists

[See also this question]

I've modified Marc's answer to use actual random numbers and actually do the same work in all cases.

Results:

         for      foreach
Array : 1575ms     1575ms (+0%)
List  : 1630ms     2627ms (+61%)
         (+3%)     (+67%)

If you need alarm only for a single time then replace

with

 alarmManager.set( AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, System.currentTimeMillis() + result , pendingIntent );

Creating C formatted strings (not printing them)

I haven't done this, so I'm just going to point at the right answer.

C has provisions for functions that take unspecified numbers of operands, using the <stdarg.h> header. You can define your function as void log_out(const char *fmt, ...);, and get the va_list inside the function. Then you can allocate memory and call vsprintf() with the allocated memory, format, and va_list.

Alternately, you could use this to write a function analogous to sprintf() that would allocate memory and return the formatted string, generating it more or less as above. It would be a memory leak, but if you're just logging out it may not matter.

Can I override and overload static methods in Java?

Static methods can not be overridden because they are not part of the object's state. Rather, they belongs to the class (i.e they are class methods). It is ok to overload static (and final) methods.

Python Script to convert Image into Byte array

This works for me

# Convert image to bytes

pil_im.save(b, 'jpeg')
im_bytes = b.getvalue()
return im_bytes

What's the right way to decode a string that has special HTML entities in it?

This is so good answer. You can use this with angular like this:

 moduleDefinitions.filter('sanitize', ['$sce', function($sce) {
    return function(htmlCode) {
        var txt = document.createElement("textarea");
        txt.innerHTML = htmlCode;
        return $sce.trustAsHtml(txt.value);
    }
}]);

What should I set JAVA_HOME environment variable on macOS X 10.6?

I am having MAC OS X(Sierra) 10.12.2.

I set JAVA_HOME to work on React Native(for Android apps) by following the following steps.

  • Open Terminal (Command+R, type Terminal, Hit ENTER).

  • Add the following lines to ~/.bash_profile. export JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home)

  • Now run the following command. source ~/.bash_profile

  • You can check the exact value of JAVA_HOME by typing the following command. echo $JAVA_HOME

The value(output) returned will be something like below. /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_131.jdk/Contents/Home

That's it.

PHP read and write JSON from file

If you want to display the JSON data in well defined formate you can modify the code as:

file_put_contents($file, json_encode($json,TRUE));

$headers = array('http'=>array('method'=>'GET','header'=>'Content: type=application/json \r\n'.'$agent \r\n'.'$hash'));

$context=stream_context_create($headers);

$str = file_get_contents("list.txt",FILE_USE_INCLUDE_PATH,$context);

$str1=utf8_encode($str);

$str1=json_decode($str1,true);

foreach($str1 as $key=>$value)
{

    echo "key is: $key.\n";

    echo "values are: \t";
        foreach ($value as $k) {

        echo " $k. \t";
        # code...
    }
        echo "<br></br>";
        echo "\n";

}

Python `if x is not None` or `if not x is None`?

There's no performance difference, as they compile to the same bytecode:

>>> import dis
>>> dis.dis("not x is None")
  1           0 LOAD_NAME                0 (x)
              2 LOAD_CONST               0 (None)
              4 COMPARE_OP               9 (is not)
              6 RETURN_VALUE
>>> dis.dis("x is not None")
  1           0 LOAD_NAME                0 (x)
              2 LOAD_CONST               0 (None)
              4 COMPARE_OP               9 (is not)
              6 RETURN_VALUE

Stylistically, I try to avoid not x is y, a human reader might misunderstand it as (not x) is y. If I write x is not y then there is no ambiguity.

SQL Server - Adding a string to a text column (concat equivalent)

Stop using the TEXT data type in SQL Server!

It's been deprecated since the 2005 version. Use VARCHAR(MAX) instead, if you need more than 8000 characters.

The TEXT data type doesn't support the normal string functions, while VARCHAR(MAX) does - your statement would work just fine, if you'd be using just VARCHAR types.

How can I remove all my changes in my SVN working directory?

Will remove any file which has been modified. I seem to remember having trouble with revert when files and directories may have been added.

Groovy built-in REST/HTTP client?

I don't think http-builder is a Groovy module, but rather an external API on top of apache http-client so you do need to import classes and download a bunch of APIs. You are better using Gradle or @Grab to download the jar and dependencies:

@Grab(group='org.codehaus.groovy.modules.http-builder', module='http-builder', version='0.7.1' )
import groovyx.net.http.*
import static groovyx.net.http.ContentType.*
import static groovyx.net.http.Method.*

Note: since the CodeHaus site went down, you can find the JAR at (https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.codehaus.groovy.modules.http-builder/http-builder)

border-radius not working

To add a bit on to @ethanmay 's answer: (https://stackoverflow.com/a/44334424/8479303)...

If there are contents within the div that has the curved corners, you have to set overflow: hidden because otherwise the child div's overflow can give the impression that the border-radius isn't working.

<!-- This will look like the border-radius isn't working-->
<div style="border: 1px solid black; border-radius: 10px;">
  <div style="background: red;">
      text!
  </div>
</div>

<!-- but here the contents properly fit within the rounded div -->
<div style="border: 1px solid black; border-radius: 10px; overflow: hidden;">
  <div style="background: red;">
      text!
  </div>
</div>
