Copying data from one SQLite database to another

I needed to move data from a sql server compact database to sqlite, so using sql server 2008 you can right click on the table and select 'Script Table To' and then 'Data to Inserts'. Copy the insert statements remove the 'GO' statements and it executed successfully when applied to the sqlite database using the 'DB Browser for Sqlite' app.

PHP sessions default timeout

Yes typically, a session will end after 20 minutes in PHP.

How to write to Console.Out during execution of an MSTest test

I found a solution of my own. I know that Andras answer is probably the most consistent with MSTEST, but I didn't feel like refactoring my code.

[TestMethod]
public void OneIsOne()
{
    using (ConsoleRedirector cr = new ConsoleRedirector())
    {
        Assert.IsFalse(cr.ToString().Contains("New text"));
        /* call some method that writes "New text" to stdout */
        Assert.IsTrue(cr.ToString().Contains("New text"));
    }
}

The disposable ConsoleRedirector is defined as:

internal class ConsoleRedirector : IDisposable
{
    private StringWriter _consoleOutput = new StringWriter();
    private TextWriter _originalConsoleOutput;
    public ConsoleRedirector()
    {
        this._originalConsoleOutput = Console.Out;
        Console.SetOut(_consoleOutput);
    }
    public void Dispose()
    {
        Console.SetOut(_originalConsoleOutput);
        Console.Write(this.ToString());
        this._consoleOutput.Dispose();
    }
    public override string ToString()
    {
        return this._consoleOutput.ToString();
    }
}

How to find an available port?

If your server starts up, then that socket was not used.

EDIT

Something like:

ServerSocket s = null ;

try {
    s = new ServerSocket( 0 );
} catch( IOException ioe ){
   for( int i = START; i < END ; i++ ) try {
        s = new ServerSocket( i );
    } catch( IOException ioe ){}
}
// At this point if s is null we are helpless
if( s == null ) {
    throw new IOException(
       Strings.format("Unable to open server in port range(%d-%d)",START,END));
}

download file using an ajax request

@Joao Marcos solution works for me but I had to modify the code to make it work on IE, below if what the code looks like

       downloadFile(url,filename) {
        var that = this;
        const extension =  url.split('/').pop().split('?')[0].split('.').pop();

        var req = new XMLHttpRequest();
        req.open("GET", url, true);
        req.responseType = "blob";
        req.onload = function (event) {
            const fileName = `${filename}.${extension}`;
            const blob = req.response;

            if (window.navigator.msSaveBlob) { // IE
                window.navigator.msSaveOrOpenBlob(blob, fileName);
            }
            const link = document.createElement('a');
            link.href = window.URL.createObjectURL(blob);
            link.download = fileName;
            link.click();
            URL.revokeObjectURL(link.href);

        };

        req.send();
    },

Can I add and remove elements of enumeration at runtime in Java

A working example in widespread use is in modded Minecraft. See EnumHelper.addEnum() methods on Github

However, note that in rare situations practical experience has shown that adding Enum members can lead to some issues with the JVM optimiser. The exact issues may vary with different JVMs. But broadly it seems the optimiser may assume that some internal fields of an Enum, specifically the size of the Enum's .values() array, will not change. See issue discussion. The recommended solution there is not to make .values() a hotspot for the optimiser. So if adding to an Enum's members at runtime, it should be done once and once only when the application is initialised, and then the result of .values() should be cached to avoid making it a hotspot.

The way the optimiser works and the way it detects hotspots is obscure and may vary between different JVMs and different builds of the JVM. If you don't want to take the risk of this type of issue in production code, then don't change Enums at runtime.

Opposite of %in%: exclude rows with values specified in a vector

You can use the ! operator to basically make any TRUE FALSE and every FALSE TRUE. so:

D2 = subset(D1, !(V1 %in% c('B','N','T')))

EDIT: You can also make an operator yourself:

'%!in%' <- function(x,y)!('%in%'(x,y))

c(1,3,11)%!in%1:10
[1] FALSE FALSE  TRUE

How can I get a process handle by its name in C++?

The following code can be used:

DWORD FindProcessId(const std::wstring& processName)
{
    PROCESSENTRY32 processInfo;
    processInfo.dwSize = sizeof(processInfo);

    HANDLE processesSnapshot = CreateToolhelp32Snapshot(TH32CS_SNAPPROCESS, NULL);
    if (processesSnapshot == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) {
        return 0;
    }

    Process32First(processesSnapshot, &processInfo);
    if (!processName.compare(processInfo.szExeFile))
    {
        CloseHandle(processesSnapshot);
        return processInfo.th32ProcessID;
    }

    while (Process32Next(processesSnapshot, &processInfo))
    {
        if (!processName.compare(processInfo.szExeFile))
        {
            CloseHandle(processesSnapshot);
            return processInfo.th32ProcessID;
        }
    }

    CloseHandle(processesSnapshot);
    return 0;
}

Usage:

auto processId = FindProcessId(L"blabla.exe");

Getting a handle should be obvious, just call OpenProcess() or similar on it.

Adding an onclicklistener to listview (android)

If your Activity extends ListActivity, you can simply override the OnListItemClick() method like so:

/** {@inheritDoc} */
@Override
protected void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int pos, long id) {
    super.onListItemClick(l, v, pos, id);

    // TODO : Logic
}

Count the number of commits on a Git branch

How much commits was done to current branch since begin of history, not counting commits from merged branches:

git rev-list HEAD --count --first-parent

From documentation git rev-list --help:

--first-parent

Follow only the first parent commit upon seeing a merge commit. This option can give a better overview when viewing the evolution of a particular topic branch, because merges into a topic branch tend to be only about adjusting to updated upstream from time to time, and this option allows you to ignore the individual commits brought in to your history by such a merge. Cannot be combined with --bisect.

Note: Shallow clone will shrink the history size. E.g. if you clone with --depth 1, will return 1.

number of commits done since some other commit:

git rev-list HEAD abc0923f --count --first-parent

or the same:

git rev-list abc0923f.. --count --first-parent

or use any other git reference:

git rev-list master tag-v20 --count --first-parent

Count commits done since 2018 year

git rev-list HEAD --count --first-parent --since=2018-01-01

01-01-2018, 01.01.2018, 2018.01.01 also works.

git rev-label

I wrote a script to get version-revision from Git in format like '$refname-c$count-g$short$_dirty' which expands to master-c137-gabd32ef.

Class has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Environment

I had a similar issue from the console after building a Jar in Intellij. Using the Java configuration to update to a newer version (Windows -> Configure Java -> Update -> Update Now) didn't work and stuck at version 1.8 (Java 8).

To switch to a more recent version locally I had to install the Java 15 JDK from https://www.oracle.com/uk/java/technologies/javase-jdk15-downloads.html and add that to my Java runtime environment settings.

Constants in Objective-C

A slight modification of the suggestion of @Krizz, so that it works properly if the constants header file is to be included in the PCH, which is rather normal. Since the original is imported into the PCH, it won't reload it into the .m file and thus you get no symbols and the linker is unhappy.

However, the following modification allows it to work. It's a bit convoluted, but it works.

You'll need 3 files, .h file which has the constant definitions, the .h file and the .m file, I'll use ConstantList.h, Constants.h and Constants.m, respectively. the contents of Constants.h are simply:

// Constants.h
#define STR_CONST(name, value) extern NSString* const name
#include "ConstantList.h"

and the Constants.m file looks like:

// Constants.m
#ifdef STR_CONST
    #undef STR_CONST
#endif
#define STR_CONST(name, value) NSString* const name = @ value
#include "ConstantList.h"

Finally, the ConstantList.h file has the actual declarations in it and that is all:

// ConstantList.h
STR_CONST(kMyConstant, "Value");
…

A couple of things to note:

  1. I had to redefine the macro in the .m file after #undefing it for the macro to be used.

  2. I also had to use #include instead of #import for this to work properly and avoid the compiler seeing the previously precompiled values.

  3. This will require a recompile of your PCH (and probably the entire project) whenever any values are changed, which is not the case if they are separated (and duplicated) as normal.

Hope that is helpful for someone.

$lookup on ObjectId's in an array

I have to disagree, we can make $lookup work with IDs array if we preface it with $match stage.

_x000D_
_x000D_
// replace IDs array with lookup results_x000D_
db.products.aggregate([_x000D_
    { $match: { products : { $exists: true } } },_x000D_
    {_x000D_
        $lookup: {_x000D_
            from: "products",_x000D_
            localField: "products",_x000D_
            foreignField: "_id",_x000D_
            as: "productObjects"_x000D_
        }_x000D_
    }_x000D_
])
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

It becomes more complicated if we want to pass the lookup result to a pipeline. But then again there's a way to do so (already suggested by @user12164):

_x000D_
_x000D_
// replace IDs array with lookup results passed to pipeline_x000D_
db.products.aggregate([_x000D_
    { $match: { products : { $exists: true } } },_x000D_
    {_x000D_
        $lookup: {_x000D_
            from: "products",_x000D_
             let: { products: "$products"},_x000D_
             pipeline: [_x000D_
                 { $match: { $expr: {$in: ["$_id", "$$products"] } } },_x000D_
                 { $project: {_id: 0} } // suppress _id_x000D_
             ],_x000D_
            as: "productObjects"_x000D_
        }_x000D_
    }_x000D_
])

What is Bootstrap?

Bootstrap, as I know it, is a well defined CSS. Although using Bootstrap you could also use JavaScript, jQuery etc. But the main difference is that, using Bootstrap you can just call the class name and then you get the output on the HTML form. for eg. coloring of buttons shaping of text, using layouts. For all this you do not have to write a CSS file rather you just have to use the correct class name for shaping your HTML form.

Running ASP.Net on a Linux based server

dotnet is the official home of .NET on GitHub. It's a great starting point to find many .NET OSS projects from Microsoft and the community, including many that are part of the .NET Foundation.

This may be a great start to support Linux.

How to use querySelectorAll only for elements that have a specific attribute set?

You can use querySelectorAll() like this:

var test = document.querySelectorAll('input[value][type="checkbox"]:not([value=""])');

This translates to:

get all inputs with the attribute "value" and has the attribute "value" that is not blank.

In this demo, it disables the checkbox with a non-blank value.

Flutter Circle Design

you can use decoration like this :

   Container(
                    width: 60,
                    height: 60,
                    child: Icon(CustomIcons.option, size: 20,),
                    decoration: BoxDecoration(
                        shape: BoxShape.circle,
                        color: Color(0xFFe0f2f1)),
                  )

Now you have circle shape and Icon on it.

How do I UPDATE from a SELECT in SQL Server?

In SQL Server 2008 (or better), use MERGE

MERGE INTO YourTable T
   USING other_table S
      ON T.id = S.id
         AND S.tsql = 'cool'
WHEN MATCHED THEN
   UPDATE
      SET col1 = S.col1,
          col2 = S.col2;

Alternatively:

MERGE INTO YourTable T
   USING (
          SELECT id, col1, col2
            FROM other_table
           WHERE tsql = 'cool'
         ) S
      ON T.id = S.id
WHEN MATCHED THEN
   UPDATE
      SET col1 = S.col1,
          col2 = S.col2;

How to add an auto-incrementing primary key to an existing table, in PostgreSQL?

To use an identity column in v10,

ALTER TABLE test
ADD COLUMN id { int | bigint | smallint}
GENERATED { BY DEFAULT | ALWAYS } AS IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY;

For an explanation of identity columns, see https://blog.2ndquadrant.com/postgresql-10-identity-columns/.

For the difference between GENERATED BY DEFAULT and GENERATED ALWAYS, see https://www.cybertec-postgresql.com/en/sequences-gains-and-pitfalls/.

For altering the sequence, see https://popsql.io/learn-sql/postgresql/how-to-alter-sequence-in-postgresql/.

Change default timeout for mocha

By default Mocha will read a file named test/mocha.opts that can contain command line arguments. So you could create such a file that contains:

--timeout 5000

Whenever you run Mocha at the command line, it will read this file and set a timeout of 5 seconds by default.

Another way which may be better depending on your situation is to set it like this in a top level describe call in your test file:

describe("something", function () {
    this.timeout(5000);

    // tests...
});

This would allow you to set a timeout only on a per-file basis.

You could use both methods if you want a global default of 5000 but set something different for some files.

Note that you cannot generally use an arrow function if you are going to call this.timeout (or access any other member of this that Mocha sets for you). For instance, this will usually not work:

describe("something", () => {
    this.timeout(5000); //will not work

    // tests...
});

This is because an arrow function takes this from the scope the function appears in. Mocha will call the function with a good value for this but that value is not passed inside the arrow function. The documentation for Mocha says on this topic:

Passing arrow functions (“lambdas”) to Mocha is discouraged. Due to the lexical binding of this, such functions are unable to access the Mocha context.

How can Print Preview be called from Javascript?

It can be done using javascript. Say your html/aspx code goes this way:

<span>Main heading</span>
<asp:Label ID="lbl1" runat="server" Text="Contents"></asp:Label>
<asp:Label Text="Contractor Name" ID="lblCont" runat="server"></asp:Label>
<div id="forPrintPreview">
  <asp:Label Text="Company Name" runat="server"></asp:Label>
  <asp:GridView runat="server">

      //GridView Content goes here

  </asp:GridView
</div>

<input type="button" onclick="PrintPreview();" value="Print Preview" />

Here on click of "Print Preview" button we will open a window with data for print. Observe that 'forPrintPreview' is the id of a div. The function for Print preview goes this way:

function PrintPreview() {
 var Contractor= $('span[id*="lblCont"]').html();
 printWindow = window.open("", "", "location=1,status=1,scrollbars=1,width=650,height=600");
 printWindow.document.write('<html><head>');
 printWindow.document.write('<style type="text/css">@media print{.no-print, .no-print *{display: none !important;}</style>');
 printWindow.document.write('</head><body>');
 printWindow.document.write('<div style="width:100%;text-align:right">');

  //Print and cancel button
 printWindow.document.write('<input type="button" id="btnPrint" value="Print" class="no-print" style="width:100px" onclick="window.print()" />');
 printWindow.document.write('<input type="button" id="btnCancel" value="Cancel" class="no-print"  style="width:100px" onclick="window.close()" />');

 printWindow.document.write('</div>');

 //You can include any data this way.
 printWindow.document.write('<table><tr><td>Contractor name:'+ Contractor +'</td></tr>you can include any info here</table');

 printWindow.document.write(document.getElementById('forPrintPreview').innerHTML);
 //here 'forPrintPreview' is the id of the 'div' in current page(aspx).
 printWindow.document.write('</body></html>');
 printWindow.document.close();
 printWindow.focus();
}

Observe that buttons 'print' and 'cancel' has the css class 'no-print', So these buttons will not appear in the print.

How do I declare a global variable in VBA?

To use global variables, Insert New Module from VBA Project UI and declare variables using Global

Circle-Rectangle collision detection (intersection)

This is the fastest solution:

public static boolean intersect(Rectangle r, Circle c)
{
    float cx = Math.abs(c.x - r.x - r.halfWidth);
    float xDist = r.halfWidth + c.radius;
    if (cx > xDist)
        return false;
    float cy = Math.abs(c.y - r.y - r.halfHeight);
    float yDist = r.halfHeight + c.radius;
    if (cy > yDist)
        return false;
    if (cx <= r.halfWidth || cy <= r.halfHeight)
        return true;
    float xCornerDist = cx - r.halfWidth;
    float yCornerDist = cy - r.halfHeight;
    float xCornerDistSq = xCornerDist * xCornerDist;
    float yCornerDistSq = yCornerDist * yCornerDist;
    float maxCornerDistSq = c.radius * c.radius;
    return xCornerDistSq + yCornerDistSq <= maxCornerDistSq;
}

Note the order of execution, and half the width/height is pre-computed. Also the squaring is done "manually" to save some clock cycles.

Getting the computer name in Java

I'm not so thrilled about the InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName() solution that you can find so many places on the Internet and indeed also here. That method will get you the hostname as seen from a network perspective. I can see two problems with this:

  1. What if the host has multiple network interfaces ? The host may be known on the network by multiple names. The one returned by said method is indeterminate afaik.

  2. What if the host is not connected to any network and has no network interfaces ?

All OS'es that I know of have the concept of naming a node/host irrespective of network. Sad that Java cannot return this in an easy way. This would be the environment variable COMPUTERNAME on all versions of Windows and the environment variable HOSTNAME on Unix/Linux/MacOS (or alternatively the output from host command hostname if the HOSTNAME environment variable is not available as is the case in old shells like Bourne and Korn).

I would write a method that would retrieve (depending on OS) those OS vars and only as a last resort use the InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName() method. But that's just me.

UPDATE (Unices)

As others have pointed out the HOSTNAME environment variable is typically not available to a Java application on Unix/Linux as it is not exported by default. Hence not a reliable method unless you are in control of the clients. This really sucks. Why isn't there a standard property with this information?

Alas, as far as I can see the only reliable way on Unix/Linux would be to make a JNI call to gethostname() or to use Runtime.exec() to capture the output from the hostname command. I don't particularly like any of these ideas but if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears. (update: I recently came across gethostname4j which seems to be the answer to my prayers).

Long read

I've created a long explanation in another answer on another post. In particular you may want to read it because it attempts to establish some terminology, gives concrete examples of when the InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName() solution will fail, and points to the only safe solution that I know of currently, namely gethostname4j.

It's sad that Java doesn't provide a method for obtaining the computername. Vote for JDK-8169296 if you are able to.

What's wrong with using == to compare floats in Java?

Two different calculations which produce equal real numbers do not necessarily produce equal floating point numbers. People who use == to compare the results of calculations usually end up being surprised by this, so the warning helps flag what might otherwise be a subtle and difficult to reproduce bug.

Get device information (such as product, model) from adb command

The correct way to do it would be:

adb -s 123abc12 shell getprop

Which will give you a list of all available properties and their values. Once you know which property you want, you can give the name as an argument to getprop to access its value directly, like this:

adb -s 123abc12 shell getprop ro.product.model

The details in adb devices -l consist of the following three properties: ro.product.name, ro.product.model and ro.product.device.

Note that ADB shell ends lines with \r\n, which depending on your platform might or might not make it more difficult to access the exact value (e.g. instead of Nexus 7 you might get Nexus 7\r).

      super.viewDidLoad()
      NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(keyboardWillShow), name: .UIKeyboardWillShow, object: nil)
}

func keyboardWillShow(notification: NSNotification) {

      if let keyboardSize = (notification.userInfo?[UIKeyboardFrameBeginUserInfoKey] as? NSValue)?.cgRectValue {
             let keyboardHeight : Int = Int(keyboardSize.height)
             print("keyboardHeight",keyboardHeight)
      }

}

How to search through all Git and Mercurial commits in the repository for a certain string?

To add just one more solution not yet mentioned, I had to say that using gitg's graphical search box was the simplest solution for me. It will select the first occurrence and you can find the next with Ctrl-G.

What underlies this JavaScript idiom: var self = this?

Yes, you'll see it everywhere. It's often that = this;.

See how self is used inside functions called by events? Those would have their own context, so self is used to hold the this that came into Note().

The reason self is still available to the functions, even though they can only execute after the Note() function has finished executing, is that inner functions get the context of the outer function due to closure.

How do I check for null values in JavaScript?

This will not work in case of Boolean values coming from DB for ex:

 value = false

 if(!value) {
   // it will change all false values to not available
   return "not available"
 }

Want to move a particular div to right

This will do the job:

_x000D_
_x000D_
<div style="position:absolute; right:0;">Hello world</div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Try using collections to store the values of a key:

Map<Key, Collection<Value>>

you have to maintain the value list yourself

How to center images on a web page for all screen sizes

<div style='width:200px;margin:0 auto;> sometext or image tag</div>

How to get the current time as datetime

Incase you need to format the answer in a particular way, you can easily use this method, the default = "dd-MM-yyyy".

extension Date {

   func today(format : String = "dd-MM-yyyy") -> String{
      let date = Date()
      let formatter = DateFormatter()
      formatter.dateFormat = format
      return formatter.string(from: date)
   }
}

Getting today's date can now be done using

Date().today() or Date().today("dd/MM/yyyy")

What is the difference between Sessions and Cookies in PHP?

One part missing in all these explanations is how are Cookies and Session linked- By SessionID cookie. Cookie goes back and forth between client and server - the server links the user (and its session) by session ID portion of the cookie. You can send SessionID via url also (not the best best practice) - in case cookies are disabled by client.

how to convert Lower case letters to upper case letters & and upper case letters to lower case letters

You don't have to track whether you've already changed the character from upper to lower. Your code is already doing that since it's basically:

1   for each character x:
2       if x is uppercase:
3           convert x to lowercase
4       else:
5           if x is lowercase:
6                convert x to uppercase.

The fact that you have that else in there (on line 4) means that a character that was initially uppercase will never be checked in the second if statement (on line 5).

Example, start with A. Because that's uppercase, it will be converted to lowercase on line 3 and then you'll go back up to line 1 for the next character.

If you start with z, the if on line 2 will send you directly to line 5 where it will be converted to uppercase. Anything that's neither upper nor lowercase will fail both if statements and therefore remain untouched.

How to remove a class from elements in pure JavaScript?

elements is an array of DOM objects. You should do something like this

for (var i = 0; i < elements.length; i++) {
   elements[i].classList.remove('hover');
}

ie: enumerate the elements collection, and for each element inside the collection call the remove method

/exclude in xcopy just for a file type

How to enable local network users to access my WAMP sites?

You must have the Apache process (httpd.exe) allowed through firewall (recommended).

Or disable your firewall on LAN (just to test, not recommended).

Example with Wamp (with Apache activated):

  1. Check if Wamp is published locally if it is, continue;
  2. Access Control Panel
  3. Click "Firewall"
  4. Click "Allow app through firewall"
  5. Click "Allow some app"
  6. Find and choose C:/wamp64/bin/apache2/bin/httpd.exe
  7. Restart Wamp

Now open the browser in another host of your network and access your Apache server by IP (e.g. 192.168.0.5). You can discover your local host IP by typing ipconfig on your command prompt.

It works

Accessing clicked element in angularjs

While AngularJS allows you to get a hand on a click event (and thus a target of it) with the following syntax (note the $event argument to the setMaster function; documentation here: http://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng.directive:ngClick):

function AdminController($scope) {
  $scope.setMaster = function(obj, $event){
    console.log($event.target);
  }
}

this is not very angular-way of solving this problem. With AngularJS the focus is on the model manipulation. One would mutate a model and let AngularJS figure out rendering.

The AngularJS-way of solving this problem (without using jQuery and without the need to pass the $event argument) would be:

<div ng-controller="AdminController">
    <ul class="list-holder">
        <li ng-repeat="section in sections" ng-class="{active : isSelected(section)}">
            <a ng-click="setMaster(section)">{{section.name}}</a>
        </li>
    </ul>
    <hr>
    {{selected | json}}
</div>

where methods in the controller would look like this:

$scope.setMaster = function(section) {
    $scope.selected = section;
}

$scope.isSelected = function(section) {
    return $scope.selected === section;
}

Duplicate keys in .NET dictionaries?

Here is one way of doing this with List< KeyValuePair< string, string > >

public class ListWithDuplicates : List<KeyValuePair<string, string>>
{
    public void Add(string key, string value)
    {
        var element = new KeyValuePair<string, string>(key, value);
        this.Add(element);
    }
}

var list = new ListWithDuplicates();
list.Add("k1", "v1");
list.Add("k1", "v2");
list.Add("k1", "v3");

foreach(var item in list)
{
    string x = string.format("{0}={1}, ", item.Key, item.Value);
}

Outputs k1=v1, k1=v2, k1=v3

CSS – why doesn’t percentage height work?

Without content, the height has no value to calculate the percentage of. The width, however, will take the percentage from the DOM, if no parent is specified. (Using your example) Placing the second div inside the first div, would have rendered a result...example below...

<div id="working">
  <div id="not-working"></div>
</div>

The second div would be 30% of the first div's height.

Open Popup window using javascript

To create a popup you'll need the following script:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

function popitup(url) {
newwindow=window.open(url,'name','height=200,width=150');
if (window.focus) {newwindow.focus()}
return false;
}

</script>

Then, you link to it by:

  <a href="popupex.html" onclick="return popitup('popupex.html')">Link to popup</a>

If you want you can call the function directly from document.ready also. Or maybe from another function.

How do I get values from a SQL database into textboxes using C#?

The line reader.Read() is missing in your code. You should add it. It is the function which actually reads data from the database:

string conString = "Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=LoginScreen;Integrated Security=True";
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(conString);

string selectSql = "select * from Pending_Tasks";
SqlCommand com = new SqlCommand(selectSql, con);

try
{
    con.Open();

    using (SqlDataReader read = cmd.ExecuteReader())
    {
        while(reader.Read())
        {
            CustID.Text = (read["Customer_ID"].ToString());
            CustName.Text = (read["Customer_Name"].ToString());
            Add1.Text = (read["Address_1"].ToString());
            Add2.Text = (read["Address_2"].ToString());
            PostBox.Text = (read["Postcode"].ToString());
            PassBox.Text = (read["Password"].ToString());
            DatBox.Text = (read["Data_Important"].ToString());
            LanNumb.Text = (read["Landline"].ToString());
            MobNumber.Text = (read["Mobile"].ToString());
            FaultRep.Text = (read["Fault_Report"].ToString());
        }
    }
}
finally
{
    con.Close();
}

EDIT : This code works supposing you want to write the last record to your textboxes. If you want to apply a different scenario, like for example to read all the records from database and to change data in the texboxes when you click the Next button, you should create and use your own Model, or you can store data in the DataTable and refer to them later if you wish.

how to bold words within a paragraph in HTML/CSS?

I know this question is old but I ran across it and I know other people might have the same problem. All these answers are okay but do not give proper detail or actual TRUE advice.

When wanting to style a specific section of a paragraph use the span tag.

<p><span style="font-weight:900">Andy Warhol</span> (August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987)

was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop

art.</p>

Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art.

As the code shows, the span tag styles on the specified words: "Andy Warhol". You can further style a word using any CSS font styling codes.

{font-weight; font-size; text-decoration; font-family; margin; color}, etc.

Any of these and more can be used to style a word, group of words, or even specified paragraphs without having to add a class to the CSS Style Sheet Doc. I hope this helps someone!

Python 3.1.1 string to hex

base64.b16encode and base64.b16decode convert bytes to and from hex and work across all Python versions. The codecs approach also works, but is less straightforward in Python 3.

Call multiple functions onClick ReactJS

You can use nested.

There are tow function one is openTab() and another is closeMobileMenue(), Firstly we call openTab() and call another function inside closeMobileMenue().

function openTab() {
    window.open('https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drishya');
    closeMobileMenue() //After open new tab, Nav Menue will close.
}

onClick={openTab}

How can I test a Windows DLL file to determine if it is 32 bit or 64 bit?

Gory details

A DLL uses the PE executable format, and it's not too tricky to read that information out of the file.

See this MSDN article on the PE File Format for an overview. You need to read the MS-DOS header, then read the IMAGE_NT_HEADERS structure. This contains the IMAGE_FILE_HEADER structure which contains the info you need in the Machine member which contains one of the following values

  • IMAGE_FILE_MACHINE_I386 (0x014c)
  • IMAGE_FILE_MACHINE_IA64 (0x0200)
  • IMAGE_FILE_MACHINE_AMD64 (0x8664)

This information should be at a fixed offset in the file, but I'd still recommend traversing the file and checking the signature of the MS-DOS header and the IMAGE_NT_HEADERS to be sure you cope with any future changes.

Use ImageHelp to read the headers...

You can also use the ImageHelp API to do this - load the DLL with LoadImage and you'll get a LOADED_IMAGE structure which will contain a pointer to an IMAGE_NT_HEADERS structure. Deallocate the LOADED_IMAGE with ImageUnload.

...or adapt this rough Perl script

Here's rough Perl script which gets the job done. It checks the file has a DOS header, then reads the PE offset from the IMAGE_DOS_HEADER 60 bytes into the file.

It then seeks to the start of the PE part, reads the signature and checks it, and then extracts the value we're interested in.

#!/usr/bin/perl
#
# usage: petype <exefile>
#
$exe = $ARGV[0];

open(EXE, $exe) or die "can't open $exe: $!";
binmode(EXE);
if (read(EXE, $doshdr, 64)) {

   ($magic,$skip,$offset)=unpack('a2a58l', $doshdr);
   die("Not an executable") if ($magic ne 'MZ');

   seek(EXE,$offset,SEEK_SET);
   if (read(EXE, $pehdr, 6)){
       ($sig,$skip,$machine)=unpack('a2a2v', $pehdr);
       die("No a PE Executable") if ($sig ne 'PE');

       if ($machine == 0x014c){
            print "i386\n";
       }
       elsif ($machine == 0x0200){
            print "IA64\n";
       }
       elsif ($machine == 0x8664){
            print "AMD64\n";
       }
       else{
            printf("Unknown machine type 0x%lx\n", $machine);
       }
   }
}

close(EXE);

How to convert milliseconds into a readable date?

I just tested this and it works fine

var d = new Date(1441121836000);

The data object has a constructor which takes milliseconds as an argument.

Fast way to get the min/max values among properties of object

// 1. iterate through object values and get them
// 2. sort that array of values ascending or descending and take first,
// which is min or max accordingly
let obj = { 'a': 4, 'b': 0.5, 'c': 0.35, 'd': 5 }
let min = Object.values(obj).sort((prev, next) => prev - next)[0] // 0.35
let max = Object.values(obj).sort((prev, next) => next - prev)[0] // 5

Sample random rows in dataframe

You could do this:

library(dplyr)

cols <- paste0("a", 1:10)
tab <- matrix(1:1000, nrow = 100) %>% as.tibble() %>% set_names(cols)
tab
# A tibble: 100 x 10
      a1    a2    a3    a4    a5    a6    a7    a8    a9   a10
   <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int>
 1     1   101   201   301   401   501   601   701   801   901
 2     2   102   202   302   402   502   602   702   802   902
 3     3   103   203   303   403   503   603   703   803   903
 4     4   104   204   304   404   504   604   704   804   904
 5     5   105   205   305   405   505   605   705   805   905
 6     6   106   206   306   406   506   606   706   806   906
 7     7   107   207   307   407   507   607   707   807   907
 8     8   108   208   308   408   508   608   708   808   908
 9     9   109   209   309   409   509   609   709   809   909
10    10   110   210   310   410   510   610   710   810   910
# ... with 90 more rows

Above I just made a dataframe with 10 columns and 100 rows, ok?

Now you can sample it with sample_n:

sample_n(tab, size = 800, replace = T)
# A tibble: 800 x 10
      a1    a2    a3    a4    a5    a6    a7    a8    a9   a10
   <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int> <int>
 1    53   153   253   353   453   553   653   753   853   953
 2    14   114   214   314   414   514   614   714   814   914
 3    10   110   210   310   410   510   610   710   810   910
 4    70   170   270   370   470   570   670   770   870   970
 5    36   136   236   336   436   536   636   736   836   936
 6    77   177   277   377   477   577   677   777   877   977
 7    13   113   213   313   413   513   613   713   813   913
 8    58   158   258   358   458   558   658   758   858   958

How do I simulate a low bandwidth, high latency environment?

For macOS, there is the Network Link Conditioner that simulates configurable bandwidth, latency, and packet loss. It is contained in the Additional Tools for Xcode package. Screenshot

How can I get a list of all classes within current module in Python?

Try this:

import sys
current_module = sys.modules[__name__]

In your context:

import sys, inspect
def print_classes():
    for name, obj in inspect.getmembers(sys.modules[__name__]):
        if inspect.isclass(obj):
            print(obj)

And even better:

clsmembers = inspect.getmembers(sys.modules[__name__], inspect.isclass)

Because inspect.getmembers() takes a predicate.

jQuery changing style of HTML element

I think you can use this code also: and you can manage your class css better

<style>
   .navigationClass{
        display: inline-block;
        padding: 0px 0px 0px 6px;
        background-color: whitesmoke;
        border-radius: 2px;
    }
</style>
<div id="header" class="row">
    <div id="logo" class="col_12">And the winner is<span>n't...</span></div>
    <div id="navigation" class="row">
        <ul id="pirra">
            <li><a href="#">Why?</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Synopsis</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Stills/Photos</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Videos/clips</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Quotes</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Quiz</a></li>
        </ul>
    </div>
 <script>
    $(document).ready(function() {
$('#navigation ul li').addClass('navigationClass'); //add class navigationClass to the #navigation .

});
 </script>

How do you get the selected value of a Spinner?

To get the selected value of a spinner you can follow this example.

Create a nested class that implements AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener. This will provide a callback method that will notify your application when an item has been selected from the Spinner.

Within "onItemSelected" method of that class, you can get the selected item:

public class YourItemSelectedListener implements OnItemSelectedListener {

    public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int pos, long id) {
        String selected = parent.getItemAtPosition(pos).toString();
    }

    public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView parent) {
        // Do nothing.
    }
}

Finally, your ItemSelectedListener needs to be registered in the Spinner:

spinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new MyOnItemSelectedListener());

align 3 images in same row with equal spaces?

This should be your answer

<div align="center">
 <img src="@Url.Content("~/images/image3.bmp")" alt="" align="right" style="float:right"/>
 <img src="@Url.Content("~/images/image1.bmp")" alt="" align="left" style="float:left" />
 <div id="content" align="center">
     <img src="@Url.Content("~/images/image2.bmp")" alt="" align="center" />
 </div>
 </div>

How to open a second activity on click of button in android app

You can move to desired activity on button click. just add this line.

android:onClick="sendMessage"

xml:

 <Button
        android:id="@+id/button1"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:onClick="sendMessage"
        android:text="@string/button" />

In your main activity just add this method:

public void sendMessage(View view) {
    Intent intent = new Intent(FromActivity.this, ToActivity.class);
    startActivity(intent);
}

And the most important thing: don't forget to define your activity in manifest.xml

 <activity>
      android:name=".ToActivity"
      android:label="@string/app_name">
 </activity>

How can I use a C++ library from node.js?

There is a fresh answer to that question now. SWIG, as of version 3.0 seems to provide javascript interface generators for Node.js, Webkit and v8.

I've been using SWIG extensively for Java and Python for a while, and once you understand how SWIG works, there is almost no effort(compared to ffi or the equivalent in the target language) needed for interfacing C++ code to the languages that SWIG supports.

As a small example, say you have a library with the header myclass.h:

#include<iostream>

class MyClass {
        int myNumber;
public:
        MyClass(int number): myNumber(number){}
        void sayHello() {
                std::cout << "Hello, my number is:"
                << myNumber <<std::endl;
        }
};

In order to use this class in node, you simply write the following SWIG interface file (mylib.i):

%module "mylib"
%{
#include "myclass.h"
%}
%include "myclass.h"

Create the binding file binding.gyp:

{
  "targets": [
    {
      "target_name": "mylib",
      "sources": [ "mylib_wrap.cxx" ]
    }
  ]
}

Run the following commands:

swig -c++ -javascript -node mylib.i
node-gyp build

Now, running node from the same folder, you can do:

> var mylib = require("./build/Release/mylib")
> var c = new mylib.MyClass(5)
> c.sayHello()
Hello, my number is:5

Even though we needed to write 2 interface files for such a small example, note how we didn't have to mention the MyClass constructor nor the sayHello method anywhere, SWIG discovers these things, and automatically generates natural interfaces.

Android Button click go to another xml page

Write below code in your MainActivity.java file instead of your code.

public class MainActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener {

    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

        Button mBtn1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.mBtn1);
        mBtn1.setOnClickListener(this);
    }

    @Override
    public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
        // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
        getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.activity_main, menu);
        return true;
    }

    @Override
    public void onClick(View v) {
        Log.i("clicks","You Clicked B1");
        Intent i=new Intent(MainActivity.this, MainActivity2.class);
        startActivity(i);
    }
}

And Declare MainActivity2 into your Androidmanifest.xml file using below code.

<activity
    android:name=".MainActivity2"
    android:label="@string/title_activity_main">
</activity>

Shell command to tar directory excluding certain files/folders

old question with many answers, but I found that none were quite clear enough for me, so I would like to add my try.

if you have the following structure

/home/ftp/mysite/

with following file/folders

/home/ftp/mysite/file1
/home/ftp/mysite/file2
/home/ftp/mysite/file3
/home/ftp/mysite/folder1
/home/ftp/mysite/folder2
/home/ftp/mysite/folder3

so, you want to make a tar file that contain everyting inside /home/ftp/mysite (to move the site to a new server), but file3 is just junk, and everything in folder3 is also not needed, so we will skip those two.

we use the format

tar -czvf <name of tar file> <what to tar> <any excludes>

where the c = create, z = zip, and v = verbose (you can see the files as they are entered, usefull to make sure none of the files you exclude are being added). and f= file.

so, my command would look like this

cd /home/ftp/
tar -czvf mysite.tar.gz mysite --exclude='file3' --exclude='folder3'

note the files/folders excluded are relatively to the root of your tar (I have tried full path here relative to / but I can not make that work).

hope this will help someone (and me next time I google it)

Print very long string completely in pandas dataframe

In the newer version of pandas, use:

pd.set_option('display.max_colwidth', None)

jQuery: Setting select list 'selected' based on text, failing strangely

The following works for text entries both with and without spaces:

$("#mySelect1").find("option[text=" + text1 + "]").attr("selected", true);

Verify ImageMagick installation

Remember that after installing Imagick (or indeed any PHP module) you need to restart your web server and/or php-fpm if you're using it, for the module to appear in phpinfo().

How do I crop an image in Java?

There are two potentially major problem with the leading answer to this question. First, as per the docs:

public BufferedImage getSubimage(int x, int y, int w, int h)

Returns a subimage defined by a specified rectangular region. The returned BufferedImage shares the same data array as the original image.

Essentially, what this means is that result from getSubimage acts as a pointer which points at a subsection of the original image.

Why is this important? Well, if you are planning to edit the subimage for any reason, the edits will also happen to the original image. For example, I ran into this problem when I was using the smaller image in a separate window to zoom in on the original image. (kind of like a magnifying glass). I made it possible to invert the colors to see certain details more easily, but the area that was "zoomed" also got inverted in the original image! So there was a small section of the original image that had inverted colors while the rest of it remained normal. In many cases, this won't matter, but if you want to edit the image, or if you just want a copy of the cropped section, you might want to consider a method.

Which brings us to the second problem. Fortunately, it is not as big a problem as the first. getSubImage shares the same data array as the original image. That means that the entire original image is still stored in memory. Assuming that by "crop" the image you actually want a smaller image, you will need to redraw it as a new image rather than just get the subimage.

Try this:

BufferedImage img = image.getSubimage(startX, startY, endX, endY); //fill in the corners of the desired crop location here
BufferedImage copyOfImage = new BufferedImage(img.getWidth(), img.getHeight(), BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
Graphics g = copyOfImage.createGraphics();
g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, null);
return copyOfImage; //or use it however you want

This technique will give you the cropped image you are looking for by itself, without the link back to the original image. This will preserve the integrity of the original image as well as save you the memory overhead of storing the larger image. (If you do dump the original image later)

How to install SQL Server Management Studio 2012 (SSMS) Express?

You need to install ENU\x64\SQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU.exe which is Express with Tools (RTM release. SP1 release can be found here).

As the page states

Express with Tools (with LocalDB) Includes the database engine and SQL Server Management Studio Express) This package contains everything needed to install and configure SQL Server as a database server. Choose either LocalDB or Express depending on your needs above.

So install this and use the management studio included with it.

The operation cannot be completed because the DbContext has been disposed error

The reason why it is throwing the error is the object is disposed and after that we are trying to access the table values through the object, but object is disposed.Better to convert that into ToList() so that we can have values

Maybe it isn't actually getting the data until you use it (it is lazy loading), so dataContext doesn't exist when you are trying to do the work. I bet if you did the ToList() in scope it would be ok.

try
{
    IQueryable<User> users;
    var ret = null;

    using (var dataContext = new dataContext())
    {
        users = dataContext.Users.Where(x => x.AccountID == accountId && x.IsAdmin == false);

        if(users.Any())
        {
            ret = users.Select(x => x.ToInfo()).ToList();
        }

     }

   Return ret;
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
    ...
}

Java8: sum values from specific field of the objects in a list

You can do this method: "IntSummaryStatistics"

IntSummaryStatistics insum = li.stream().filter(v-> v%2==0).mapToInt(mapper->mapper).summaryStatistics();

how to remove new lines and returns from php string?

you can pass an array of strings to str_replace, so you can do all in a single statement:

$content = str_replace(["\r\n", "\n", "\r"], "", $content);

How to Display Multiple Google Maps per page with API V3

Here is how I have been able to generate multiple maps on the same page using Google Map API V3. Kindly note that this is an off the cuff code that addresses the issue above.

The HTML bit

<div id="map_canvas" style="width:700px; height:500px; margin-left:80px;"></div>
<div id="map_canvas2" style="width:700px; height:500px; margin-left:80px;"></div>

Javascript for map initialization

<script type="text/javascript">
var map, map2;

function initialize(condition) {
    // create the maps
    var myOptions = {
        zoom: 14,
        center: new google.maps.LatLng(0.0, 0.0),
        mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
    }
    map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions);

    map2 = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas2"), myOptions);
}
</script>

Use table name in MySQL SELECT "AS"

To declare a string literal as an output column, leave the Table off and just use Test. It doesn't need to be associated with a table among your joins, since it will be accessed only by its column alias. When using a metadata function like getColumnMeta(), the table name will be an empty string because it isn't associated with a table.

SELECT
  `field1`,
  `field2`,
  'Test' AS `field3`
FROM `Test`;

Note: I'm using single quotes above. MySQL is usually configured to honor double quotes for strings, but single quotes are more widely portable among RDBMS.

If you must have a table alias name with the literal value, you need to wrap it in a subquery with the same name as the table you want to use:

SELECT
  field1,
  field2,
  field3
FROM
  /* subquery wraps all fields to put the literal inside a table */
  (SELECT field1, field2, 'Test' AS field3 FROM Test) AS Test

Now field3 will come in the output as Test.field3.

Batch file to run a command in cmd within a directory

You Can Also Check It:

cmd /c cd /d C:\activiti-5.9\setup & ant demo.start

/bin/sh: pushd: not found

This ought to do the trick:

( cd dirname ; pwd ); pwd

The parentheses start a new child shell, thus the cd changes the directory within the child only, and any command after it within the parentheses will run in that folder. Once you exit the parentheses you are back in wherever you were before..

Error message "unreported exception java.io.IOException; must be caught or declared to be thrown"

The error message means that any method that calls showfile() must either declare that it, in turn, throws IOException, or the call must be inside a try block that catches IOException. When you call showfile(), you do neither of these; for example, your filecontent constructor neither declares IOException nor contains a try block.

The intent is that some method, somewhere, should contain a try block, and catch and handle this exception. The compiler is trying to force you to handle the exception somewhere.

By the way, this code is (sorry to be so blunt) horrible. You don't close any of the files you open, the BufferedReader always points to the first file, even though you seem to be trying to make it point to another, the loops contain off-by-one errors that will cause various exceptions, etc. When you do get this to compile, it will not work as you expect. I think you need to slow down a little.

Input type for HTML form for integer

You should change your type to number If you accept decimals first and remove them on keyUp, you might solve this...

$("#state").on('keyup', function(){
    $(this).val($(this).val().replace(".", ''));
})

or

$("#state").on('keyup', function(){
    $(this).val(parseInt($(this).val()));
})

This will remove the period, but there is no 'Integer Type'.

JavaScript: undefined !== undefined?

It turns out that you can set window.undefined to whatever you want, and so get object.x !== undefined when object.x is the real undefined. In my case I inadvertently set undefined to null.

The easiest way to see this happen is:

window.undefined = null;
alert(window.xyzw === undefined); // shows false

Of course, this is not likely to happen. In my case the bug was a little more subtle, and was equivalent to the following scenario.

var n = window.someName; // someName expected to be set but is actually undefined
window[n]=null; // I thought I was clearing the old value but was actually changing window.undefined to null
alert(window.xyzw === undefined); // shows false

What does the "__block" keyword mean?

Normally when you don't use __block, the block will copy(retain) the variable, so even if you modify the variable, the block has access to the old object.

NSString* str = @"hello";
void (^theBlock)() = ^void() {
    NSLog(@"%@", str);
};
str = @"how are you";
theBlock(); //prints @"hello"

In these 2 cases you need __block:

1.If you want to modify the variable inside the block and expect it to be visible outside:

__block NSString* str = @"hello";
void (^theBlock)() = ^void() {
    str = @"how are you";
};
theBlock();
NSLog(@"%@", str); //prints "how are you"

2.If you want to modify the variable after you have declared the block and you expect the block to see the change:

__block NSString* str = @"hello";
void (^theBlock)() = ^void() {
    NSLog(@"%@", str);
};
str = @"how are you";
theBlock(); //prints "how are you"

time delayed redirect?

Edit:

The problem i face is that HTML5 is all on one index page. So i need the timer to start on click of the blog link.

Try calling the setTimeout inside a click handler on the blog link,

$('#blogLink').click (function (e) {
   e.preventDefault(); //will stop the link href to call the blog page

   setTimeout(function () {
       window.location.href = "blog.html"; //will redirect to your blog page (an ex: blog.html)
    }, 2000); //will call the function after 2 secs.

});

Try using setTimeout function like below,

setTimeout(function () {
   window.location.href = "blog.html"; //will redirect to your blog page (an ex: blog.html)
}, 2000); //will call the function after 2 secs.

error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5:

error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5

If you see this, your distro probably has a newer version of libncurse installed. First find out what version of libncurses your distro has:

$ ls -1 /usr/lib/libncurses*
/usr/lib/libncurses.so
/usr/lib/libncurses++.so
/usr/lib/libncurses++w.so
/usr/lib/libncursesw.so
/usr/lib/libncurses++w.so.6
/usr/lib/libncursesw.so.6
/usr/lib/libncurses++w.so.6.0
/usr/lib/libncursesw.so.6.0

In this case, we are dealing with version 6, so we make two symlinks:

$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libncursesw.so.6.0 /usr/lib/libncurses.so.5
$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libncursesw.so.6.0 /usr/lib/libtinfo.so.5

After this, the program should run normally.

Illegal string offset Warning PHP

TL;DR

You're trying to access a string as if it were an array, with a key that's a string. string will not understand that. In code we can see the problem:

"hello"["hello"];
// PHP Warning: Illegal string offset 'hello' in php shell code on line 1

"hello"[0];
// No errors.

array("hello" => "val")["hello"];
// No errors. This is *probably* what you wanted.

In depth

Let's see that error:

Warning: Illegal string offset 'port' in ...

What does it say? It says we're trying to use the string 'port' as an offset for a string. Like this:

$a_string = "string";

// This is ok:
echo $a_string[0]; // s
echo $a_string[1]; // t
echo $a_string[2]; // r
// ...

// !! Not good:
echo $a_string['port'];
// !! Warning: Illegal string offset 'port' in ...

What causes this?

For some reason you expected an array, but you have a string. Just a mix-up. Maybe your variable was changed, maybe it never was an array, it's really not important.

What can be done?

If we know we should have an array, we should do some basic debugging to determine why we don't have an array. If we don't know if we'll have an array or string, things become a bit trickier.

What we can do is all sorts of checking to ensure we don't have notices, warnings or errors with things like is_array and isset or array_key_exists:

$a_string = "string";
$an_array = array('port' => 'the_port');

if (is_array($a_string) && isset($a_string['port'])) {
    // No problem, we'll never get here.
    echo $a_string['port'];
}

if (is_array($an_array) && isset($an_array['port'])) {
    // Ok!
    echo $an_array['port']; // the_port
}

if (is_array($an_array) && isset($an_array['unset_key'])) {
    // No problem again, we won't enter.
    echo $an_array['unset_key'];
}

// Similar, but with array_key_exists
if (is_array($an_array) && array_key_exists('port', $an_array)) {
    // Ok!
    echo $an_array['port']; // the_port
}

There are some subtle differences between isset and array_key_exists. For example, if the value of $array['key'] is null, isset returns false. array_key_exists will just check that, well, the key exists.

Jquery bind double click and single click separately

I've written a jQuery plugin that allow also to delegate the click and dblclick events

// jQuery plugin to bind both single and double click to objects
// parameter 'delegateSelector' is optional and allow to delegate the events
// parameter 'dblclickWait' is optional default is 300
(function($) {
$.fn.multipleClicks = function(delegateSelector, clickFun, dblclickFun, dblclickWait) {
    var obj;
    if (typeof(delegateSelector)==='function' && typeof(clickFun)==='function') {
        dblclickWait = dblclickFun; dblclickFun = clickFun; clickFun = delegateSelector; delegateSelector = null; // If 'delegateSelector' is missing reorder arguments
    } else if (!(typeof(delegateSelector)==='string' && typeof(clickFun)==='function' && typeof(dblclickFun)==='function')) {
        return false;
    }
    return $(this).each(function() {
        $(this).on('click', delegateSelector, function(event) {
            var self = this;
            clicks = ($(self).data('clicks') || 0)+1;
            $(self).data('clicks', clicks);
            if (clicks == 1) {
                setTimeout(function(){
                    if ($(self).data('clicks') == 1) {
                        clickFun.call(self, event); // Single click action
                    } else {
                        dblclickFun.call(self, event); // Double click action
                    }
                    $(self).data('clicks', 0);
                }, dblclickWait || 300);
            }
        });
    });
};
})(jQuery);

Reading a resource file from within jar

Rather than trying to address the resource as a File just ask the ClassLoader to return an InputStream for the resource instead via getResourceAsStream:

InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/file.txt");
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in));

As long as the file.txt resource is available on the classpath then this approach will work the same way regardless of whether the file.txt resource is in a classes/ directory or inside a jar.

The URI is not hierarchical occurs because the URI for a resource within a jar file is going to look something like this: file:/example.jar!/file.txt. You cannot read the entries within a jar (a zip file) like it was a plain old File.

This is explained well by the answers to:

How do I get the SharedPreferences from a PreferenceActivity in Android?

having to pass context around everywhere is really annoying me. the code becomes too verbose and unmanageable. I do this in every project instead...

public class global {
    public static Activity globalContext = null;

and set it in the main activity create

@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    Thread.setDefaultUncaughtExceptionHandler(new CustomExceptionHandler(
            global.sdcardPath,
            ""));
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

    //Start
    //Debug.startMethodTracing("appname.Trace1");

    global.globalContext = this;

also all preference keys should be language independent, I'm shocked nobody has mentioned that.

getText(R.string.yourPrefKeyName).toString()

now call it very simply like this in one line of code

global.globalContext.getSharedPreferences(global.APPNAME_PREF, global.MODE_PRIVATE).getBoolean("isMetric", true);

    constructor(private elementHost: ElementRef) {}

    @HostListener("focus")
    setInputFocus(): void {
        this.elementHost.nativeElement.classList.add("has-focus");
    }

    @HostListener("blur")
    setInputFocusOut(): void {
        this.elementHost.nativeElement.classList.remove("has-focus");
    }

Splitting dataframe into multiple dataframes

Can I ask why not just do it by slicing the data frame. Something like

#create some data with Names column
data = pd.DataFrame({'Names': ['Joe', 'John', 'Jasper', 'Jez'] *4, 'Ob1' : np.random.rand(16), 'Ob2' : np.random.rand(16)})

#create unique list of names
UniqueNames = data.Names.unique()

#create a data frame dictionary to store your data frames
DataFrameDict = {elem : pd.DataFrame for elem in UniqueNames}

for key in DataFrameDict.keys():
    DataFrameDict[key] = data[:][data.Names == key]

Hey presto you have a dictionary of data frames just as (I think) you want them. Need to access one? Just enter

DataFrameDict['Joe']

Hope that helps

Extracting first n columns of a numpy matrix

I know this is quite an old question -

A = [[1, 2, 3],
     [4, 5, 6],
     [7, 8, 9]]

Let's say, you want to extract the first 2 rows and first 3 columns

A_NEW = A[0:2, 0:3]
A_NEW = [[1, 2, 3],
         [4, 5, 6]]

Understanding the syntax

A_NEW = A[start_index_row : stop_index_row,
          start_index_column : stop_index_column)]

If one wants row 2 and column 2 and 3

A_NEW = A[1:2, 1:3]

Selecting option by text content with jQuery

Replace this:

var cat = $.jqURL.get('category');
var $dd = $('#cbCategory');
var $options = $('option', $dd);
$options.each(function() {
if ($(this).text() == cat)
    $(this).select(); // This is where my problem is
});

With this:

$('#cbCategory').val(cat);

Calling val() on a select list will automatically select the option with that value, if any.

Why I'm getting 'Non-static method should not be called statically' when invoking a method in a Eloquent model?

For use the syntax like return Post::getAll(); you should have a magic function __callStatic in your class where handle all static calls:

public static function __callStatic($method, $parameters)
{
    return (new static)->$method(...$parameters);
}

When to use IList and when to use List

IEnumerable
You should try and use the least specific type that suits your purpose.
IEnumerable is less specific than IList.
You use IEnumerable when you want to loop through the items in a collection.

IList
IList implements IEnumerable.
You should use IList when you need access by index to your collection, add and delete elements, etc...

List
List implements IList.

Hibernate dialect for Oracle Database 11g?

At least in case of EclipseLink 10g and 11g differ. Since 11g it is not recommended to use first_rows hint for pagination queries.

See "Is it possible to disable jpa hints per particular query". Such a query should not be used in 11g.

SELECT * FROM (
  SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ a.*, ROWNUM rnum  FROM (
    SELECT * FROM TABLES INCLUDING JOINS, ORDERING, etc.) a
  WHERE ROWNUM <= 10 )
WHERE rnum > 0;

But there can be other nuances.

How to analyze a JMeter summary report?

A Jmeter Test Plan must have listener to showcase the result of performance test execution.

  • Listeners capture the response coming back from Server while Jmeter runs and showcase in the form of – tree, tables, graphs and log files.

  • It also allows you to save the result in a file for future reference. There are many types of listeners Jmeter provides. Some of them are: Summary Report, Aggregate Report, Aggregate Graph, View Results Tree, View Results in Table etc.

Here is the detailed understanding of each parameter in Summary report.

By referring to the figure:

image

Label: It is the name/URL for the specific HTTP(s) Request. If you have selected “Include group name in label?” option then the name of the Thread Group is applied as the prefix to each label.

Samples: This indicates the number of virtual users per request.

Average: It is the average time taken by all the samples to execute specific label. In our case, the average time for Label 1 is 942 milliseconds & total average time is 584 milliseconds.

Min: The shortest time taken by a sample for specific label. If we look at Min value for Label 1 then, out of 20 samples shortest response time one of the sample had was 584 milliseconds.

Max: The longest time taken by a sample for specific label. If we look at Max value for Label 1 then, out of 20 samples longest response time one of the sample had was 2867 milliseconds.

Std. Dev.: This shows the set of exceptional cases which were deviating from the average value of sample response time. The lesser this value more consistent the data. Standard deviation should be less than or equal to half of the average time for a label.

Error%: Percentage of Failed requests per Label.

Throughput: Throughput is the number of request that are processed per time unit(seconds, minutes, hours) by the server. This time is calculated from the start of first sample to the end of the last sample. Larger throughput is better.

KB/Sec: This indicates the amount of data downloaded from server during the performance test execution. In short, it is the Throughput measured in Kilobytes per second.

How to change legend title in ggplot

I noticed there are two ways to change/specify legend.title for ggboxplot():

library(ggpubr)

bxp.defaultLegend <- ggboxplot(ToothGrowth, x = "dose", y = "len",
                               color = "dose", palette = "jco")

# Solution 1, setup legend.title directly in ggboxplot()
bxp.legend <- ggboxplot(ToothGrowth, x = "dose", y = "len",
                 color = "dose", palette = "jco", legend.title="Dose (mg)")

# Solution 2: Change legend title and appearnace in ggboxplot() using labs() and theme() option:
plot1 <-  bxp.defaultLegend + labs(color = "Dose (mg)") +
  theme(legend.title = element_text(color = "blue", size = 10), legend.text = element_text(color = "red"))

ggarrange(list(bxp.legend, bxp.defaultLegend, plot1), nrow = 1, ncol = 3,  common.legend = TRUE)

The code is modified based on the example from GitHub.

How to convert a string to integer in C?

Ok, I had the same problem.I came up with this solution.It worked for me the best.I did try atoi() but didn't work well for me.So here is my solution:

void splitInput(int arr[], int sizeArr, char num[])
{
    for(int i = 0; i < sizeArr; i++)
        // We are subtracting 48 because the numbers in ASCII starts at 48.
        arr[i] = (int)num[i] - 48;
}

How to pass a Javascript Array via JQuery Post so that all its contents are accessible via the PHP $_POST array?

This is fairly straightforward. In your JS, all you would do is this or something similar:

var array = ["thing1", "thing2", "thing3"];

var parameters = {
  "array1[]": array,
  ...
};

$.post(
  'your/page.php',
  parameters
)
.done(function(data, statusText) {
    // This block is optional, fires when the ajax call is complete
});

In your php page, the values in array form will be available via $_POST['array1'].

How to make Bitmap compress without change the bitmap size?

Here's a short means I used to reduce the size of Images that have a high byteCount (basically pixels)

fun resizeImage(image: Bitmap): Bitmap {

    val width = image.width
    val height = image.height

    val scaleWidth = width / 10
    val scaleHeight = height / 10

    if (image.byteCount <= 1000000)
        return image

    return Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(image, scaleWidth, scaleHeight, false)
}

This returns a scaled Bitmap that is over 10 times smaller than the Bitmap passed as a parameter. Might not be the most ideal solution but it works.

A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found for debug mode

I had this problem too with Xcode 5.0.1. One fine day the application simply did not want to be installed on the device to which it was installed five minutes ago without any problems.

I tried to clean settings, delete derived data, recreate provisioning profiles, sign with another certificates/profiles, remove the device from the organizer, etc.

Finally, I reset my device's content and settings and successfully built my project with old profiles, certificates and bundle ID.

ORACLE convert number to string

Using the FM format model modifier to get close, as you won't get the trailing zeros after the decimal separator; but you will still get the separator itself, e.g. 50.. You can use rtrim to get rid of that:

select to_char(a, '99D90'),
    to_char(a, '90D90'),
    to_char(a, 'FM90D99'),
    rtrim(to_char(a, 'FM90D99'), to_char(0, 'D'))
from (
    select 50 a from dual
    union all select 50.57 from dual
    union all select 5.57 from dual
    union all select 0.35 from dual
    union all select 0.4 from dual
)
order by a;

TO_CHA TO_CHA TO_CHA RTRIM(
------ ------ ------ ------
   .35   0.35 0.35   0.35
   .40   0.40 0.4    0.4
  5.57   5.57 5.57   5.57
 50.00  50.00 50.    50
 50.57  50.57 50.57  50.57

Note that I'm using to_char(0, 'D') to generate the character to trim, to match the decimal separator - so it looks for the same character, , or ., as the first to_char adds.

The slight downside is that you lose the alignment. If this is being used elsewhere it might not matter, but it does then you can also wrap it in an lpad, which starts to make it look a bit complicated:

...
lpad(rtrim(to_char(a, 'FM90D99'), to_char(0, 'D')), 6)
...

TO_CHA TO_CHA TO_CHA RTRIM( LPAD(RTRIM(TO_CHAR(A,'FM
------ ------ ------ ------ ------------------------
   .35   0.35 0.35   0.35     0.35
   .40   0.40 0.4    0.4       0.4
  5.57   5.57 5.57   5.57     5.57
 50.00  50.00 50.    50         50
 50.57  50.57 50.57  50.57   50.57

For beginners, let imageView is the name of the UIImageView object we are about to create.

An example for embedding an image into a viewControler file would look like this:

import UIKit

class TutorialViewCotroller: UIViewController {
    override func viewDidLoad() {
        super.viewDidLoad()
        let imageView = UIImageView(image: #imageLiteral(resourceName: "intoImage"))
        view.addSubview(imageView)
    }
}

Please notice that I did not use any extension for the image file name, as in my case it is a group of images.

kill a process in bash

You have a multiple options:

First, you can use kill. But you need the pid of your process, which you can get by using ps, pidof or pgrep.

ps -A // to get the pid, can be combined with grep
-or-
pidof <name>
-or-
pgrep <name>

kill <pid>

It is possible to kill a process by just knowing the name. Use pkill or killall.

pkill <name>
-or-
killall <name>

All commands send a signal to the process. If the process hung up, it might be neccessary to send a sigkill to the process (this is signal number 9, so the following examples do the same):

pkill -9 <name>
pkill -SIGKILL <name>

You can use this option with kill and killall, too.

Read this article about controlling processes to get more informations about processes in general.

How do I do a not equal in Django queryset filtering?

Your query appears to have a double negative, you want to exclude all rows where x is not 5, so in other words you want to include all rows where x is 5. I believe this will do the trick:

results = Model.objects.filter(x=5).exclude(a=True)

To answer your specific question, there is no "not equal to" field lookup but that's probably because Django has both filter and exclude methods available so you can always just switch the logic around to get the desired result.

How do I add an element to a list in Groovy?

From the documentation:

We can add to a list in many ways:

assert [1,2] + 3 + [4,5] + 6 == [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
assert [1,2].plus(3).plus([4,5]).plus(6) == [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
    //equivalent method for +
def a= [1,2,3]; a += 4; a += [5,6]; assert a == [1,2,3,4,5,6]
assert [1, *[222, 333], 456] == [1, 222, 333, 456]
assert [ *[1,2,3] ] == [1,2,3]
assert [ 1, [2,3,[4,5],6], 7, [8,9] ].flatten() == [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

def list= [1,2]
list.add(3) //alternative method name
list.addAll([5,4]) //alternative method name
assert list == [1,2,3,5,4]

list= [1,2]
list.add(1,3) //add 3 just before index 1
assert list == [1,3,2]
list.addAll(2,[5,4]) //add [5,4] just before index 2
assert list == [1,3,5,4,2]

list = ['a', 'b', 'z', 'e', 'u', 'v', 'g']
list[8] = 'x'
assert list == ['a', 'b', 'z', 'e', 'u', 'v', 'g', null, 'x']

You can also do:

def myNewList = myList << "fifth"

Compare given date with today

Compare date time objects:

(I picked 10 days - Anything older than 10 days is "OLD", else "NEW")

$now   = new DateTime();
$diff=date_diff($yourdate,$now);
$diff_days = $diff->format("%a");
if($diff_days > 10){
    echo "OLD! " . $yourdate->format('m/d/Y');
}else{
    echo "NEW! " . $yourdate->format('m/d/Y');
}

How to send an HTTP request with a header parameter?

With your own Code and a Slight Change withou jQuery,

What is the size of a pointer?

On 32-bit machine sizeof pointer is 32 bits ( 4 bytes), while on 64 bit machine it's 8 byte. Regardless of what data type they are pointing to, they have fixed size.

Spring Boot Adding Http Request Interceptors

I had the same issue of WebMvcConfigurerAdapter being deprecated. When I searched for examples, I hardly found any implemented code. Here is a piece of working code.

create a class that extends HandlerInterceptorAdapter

import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;

import org.slf4j.Logger;
import org.slf4j.LoggerFactory;
import org.springframework.stereotype.Component;
import org.springframework.web.servlet.handler.HandlerInterceptorAdapter;

import me.rajnarayanan.datatest.DataTestApplication;
@Component
public class EmployeeInterceptor extends HandlerInterceptorAdapter {
    private static final Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger(DataTestApplication.class);
    @Override
    public boolean preHandle(HttpServletRequest request,
            HttpServletResponse response, Object handler) throws Exception {

            String x = request.getMethod();
            logger.info(x + "intercepted");
        return true;
    }

}

then Implement WebMvcConfigurer interface

import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.context.annotation.Configuration;
import org.springframework.web.servlet.config.annotation.InterceptorRegistry;
import org.springframework.web.servlet.config.annotation.WebMvcConfigurer;

import me.rajnarayanan.datatest.interceptor.EmployeeInterceptor;
@Configuration
public class WebMvcConfig implements WebMvcConfigurer {
    @Autowired
    EmployeeInterceptor employeeInterceptor ;

    @Override
    public void addInterceptors(InterceptorRegistry registry){
        registry.addInterceptor(employeeInterceptor).addPathPatterns("/employee");
    }
}

Shorthand if/else statement Javascript

y = (y != undefined) ? y : x;

The parenthesis are not necessary, I just add them because I think it's easier to read this way.

How can I get the class name from a C++ object?

Do you want [classname] to be 'one' and [objectname] to be 'A'?

If so, this is not possible. These names are only abstractions for the programmer, and aren't actually used in the binary code that is generated. You could give the class a static variable classname, which you set to 'one' and a normal variable objectname which you would assign either directly, through a method or the constructor. You can then query these methods for the class and object names.

jQuery click function doesn't work after ajax call?

$('body').delegate('.deletelanguage','click',function(){

or

$('body').on('click','.deletelanguage',function(){

});

Permission denied at hdfs

You are experiencing two separate problems here:

hduser@ubuntu:/usr/local/hadoop$ hadoop fs -put /usr/local/input-data/ /input put: /usr/local/input-data (Permission denied)

Here, the user hduser does not have access to the local directory /usr/local/input-data. That is, your local permissions are too restrictive. You should change it.

hduser@ubuntu:/usr/local/hadoop$ sudo bin/hadoop fs -put /usr/local/input-data/ /inwe put: org.apache.hadoop.security.AccessControlException: Permission denied: user=root, access=WRITE, inode="":hduser:supergroup:rwxr-xr-x

Here, the user root (since you are using sudo) does not have access to the HDFS directory /input. As you can see: hduser:supergroup:rwxr-xr-x says only hduser has write access. Hadoop doesn't really respect root as a special user.

To fix this, I suggest you change the permissions on the local data:

sudo chmod -R og+rx /usr/local/input-data/

Then, try the put command again as hduser.

List files in local git repo?

git ls-tree --full-tree -r HEAD and git ls-files return all files at once. For a large project with hundreds or thousands of files, and if you are interested in a particular file/directory, you may find more convenient to explore specific directories. You can do it by obtaining the ID/SHA-1 of the directory that you want to explore and then use git cat-file -p [ID/SHA-1 of directory]. For example:

git cat-file -p 14032aabd85b43a058cfc7025dd4fa9dd325ea97
100644 blob b93a4953fff68df523aa7656497ee339d6026d64    glyphicons-halflings-regular.eot
100644 blob 94fb5490a2ed10b2c69a4a567a4fd2e4f706d841    glyphicons-halflings-regular.svg
100644 blob 1413fc609ab6f21774de0cb7e01360095584f65b    glyphicons-halflings-regular.ttf
100644 blob 9e612858f802245ddcbf59788a0db942224bab35    glyphicons-halflings-regular.woff
100644 blob 64539b54c3751a6d9adb44c8e3a45ba5a73b77f0    glyphicons-halflings-regular.woff2

In the example above, 14032aabd85b43a058cfc7025dd4fa9dd325ea97 is the ID/SHA-1 of the directory that I wanted to explore. In this case, the result was that four files within that directory were being tracked by my Git repo. If the directory had additional files, it would mean those extra files were not being tracked. You can add files using git add <file>... of course.

Get user profile picture by Id

To get largest size of the image

https://graph.facebook.com/{userID}?fields=picture.width(720).height(720)

or anything else you need as size. Based on experience, type=large is not the largest result you can obtain.

jQuery $(this) keyword

$(this) returns a cached version of the element, hence improving performance since jQuery doesn't have to do a complete lookup in the DOM of the element again.

What is the fastest way to compare two sets in Java?

There's an O(N) solution for very specific cases where:

  • the sets are both sorted
  • both sorted in the same order

The following code assumes that both sets are based on the records comparable. A similar method could be based on on a Comparator.

    public class SortedSetComparitor <Foo extends Comparable<Foo>>
            implements Comparator<SortedSet<Foo>> {

        @Override
        public int compare( SortedSet<Foo> arg0, SortedSet<Foo> arg1 ) {
            Iterator<Foo> otherRecords = arg1.iterator();
            for (Foo thisRecord : arg0) {
                // Shorter sets sort first.
                if (!otherRecords.hasNext()) return 1;
                int comparison = thisRecord.compareTo(otherRecords.next());
                if (comparison != 0) return comparison;
            }
            // Shorter sets sort first
            if (otherRecords.hasNext()) return -1;
            else return 0;
        }
    }

How to wait for a JavaScript Promise to resolve before resuming function?

If using ES2016 you can use async and await and do something like:

(async () => {
  const data = await fetch(url)
  myFunc(data)
}())

If using ES2015 you can use Generators. If you don't like the syntax you can abstract it away using an async utility function as explained here.

If using ES5 you'll probably want a library like Bluebird to give you more control.

Finally, if your runtime supports ES2015 already execution order may be preserved with parallelism using Fetch Injection.

How do you add swap to an EC2 instance?

Using David's Instance Storage answer initially worked for me (on a m5d.2xlarge) however, after stopping the EC2 instance and turning it back on, I was unable to ssh in to the instance again.

The instance logs reported: "You are in emergency mode. After logging in, type "journalctl -xb" to view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or "exit" to boot into default mode. Press Enter for maintenance"

I instead followed the AWS instructions in this link and everything worked perfectly, including after turning the instance off and on again.

https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/ec2-memory-swap-file/

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1G count=4

sudo chmod 600 /swapfile

sudo mkswap /swapfile

sudo swapon /swapfile

sudo swapon -s

sudo vi /etc/fstab
/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0

Clear text from textarea with selenium

It is general syntax

driver.find_element_by_id('Locator value').clear();
driver.find_element_by_name('Locator value').clear();

Best way to track onchange as-you-type in input type="text"?

Below code works fine for me with Jquery 1.8.3

HTML : <input type="text" id="myId" />

Javascript/JQuery:

$("#myId").on('change keydown paste input', function(){
      doSomething();
});

What is the preferred syntax for initializing a dict: curly brace literals {} or the dict() function?

The first, curly braces. Otherwise, you run into consistency issues with keys that have odd characters in them, like =.

# Works fine.
a = {
    'a': 'value',
    'b=c': 'value',
}

# Eeep! Breaks if trying to be consistent.
b = dict(
    a='value',
    b=c='value',
)

How to pass objects to functions in C++?

Pass by value:

void func (vector v)

Pass variables by value when the function needs complete isolation from the environment i.e. to prevent the function from modifying the original variable as well as to prevent other threads from modifying its value while the function is being executed.

The downside is the CPU cycles and extra memory spent to copy the object.

Pass by const reference:

void func (const vector& v);

This form emulates pass-by-value behavior while removing the copying overhead. The function gets read access to the original object, but cannot modify its value.

The downside is thread safety: any change made to the original object by another thread will show up inside the function while it's still executing.

Pass by non-const reference:

void func (vector& v)

Use this when the function has to write back some value to the variable, which will ultimately get used by the caller.

Just like the const reference case, this is not thread-safe.

Pass by const pointer:

void func (const vector* vp);

Functionally same as pass by const-reference except for the different syntax, plus the fact that the calling function can pass NULL pointer to indicate it has no valid data to pass.

Not thread-safe.

Pass by non-const pointer:

void func (vector* vp);

Similar to non-const reference. The caller typically sets the variable to NULL when the function is not supposed to write back a value. This convention is seen in many glibc APIs. Example:

void func (string* str, /* ... */) {
    if (str != NULL) {
        *str = some_value; // assign to *str only if it's non-null
    }
}

Just like all pass by reference/pointer, not thread-safe.

display Java.util.Date in a specific format

You can use simple date format in Java using the code below

SimpleDateFormat simpledatafo = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
Date newDate = new Date();
String expectedDate= simpledatafo.format(newDate);

How to prevent scanf causing a buffer overflow in C?

If you are using gcc, you can use the GNU-extension a specifier to have scanf() allocate memory for you to hold the input:

int main()
{
  char *str = NULL;

  scanf ("%as", &str);
  if (str) {
      printf("\"%s\"\n", str);
      free(str);
  }
  return 0;
}

Edit: As Jonathan pointed out, you should consult the scanf man pages as the specifier might be different (%m) and you might need to enable certain defines when compiling.

Access XAMPP Localhost from Internet

I know this very old but for future's sake:

I also used a dynamic dns provider. Wanted to test the website (IIS) BEHIND my (home) router. So i thought i use something like this:

my.dynamic.dnss.ip:8080 (because my router's port 80 was used to admin it).

So this seemed to be the only solution.
But: Paypal seemed to not like port 8080: only port 80 and 443 are allowed (don't know why!!)

100% Min Height CSS layout

Probably the shortest solution (works only in modern browsers)

This small piece of CSS makes "the middle content part fill 100% of the space in between with the footer fixed to the bottom":

html, body { height: 100%; }
your_container { min-height: calc(100% - height_of_your_footer); }

the only requirement is that you need to have a fixed height footer.

For example for this layout:

    <html><head></head><body>
      <main> your main content </main>
      </footer> your footer content </footer>
    </body></html>

you need this CSS:

    html, body { height: 100%; }
    main { min-height: calc(100% - 2em); }
    footer { height: 2em; }

How to make an ng-click event conditional?

It is not good to manipulate with DOM (including checking of attributes) in any place except directives. You can add into scope some value indicating if link should be disabled.

But other problem is that ngDisabled does not work on anything except form controls, so you can't use it with <a>, but you can use it with <button> and style it as link.

Another way is to use lazy evaluation of expressions like isDisabled || action() so action wouold not be called if isDisabled is true.

Here goes both solutions: http://plnkr.co/edit/5d5R5KfD4PCE8vS3OSSx?p=preview

Nested or Inner Class in PHP

I think I wrote an elegant solution to this problem by using namespaces. In my case, the inner class does not need to know his parent class (like the static inner class in Java). As an example I made a class called 'User' and a subclass called 'Type', used as a reference for the user types (ADMIN, OTHERS) in my example. Regards.

User.php (User class file)

<?php
namespace
{
    class User
    {
        private $type;

        public function getType(){ return $this->type;}
        public function setType($type){ $this->type = $type;}
    }
}

namespace User
{
    class Type
    {
        const ADMIN = 0;
        const OTHERS = 1;
    }
}
?>

Using.php (An example of how to call the 'subclass')

<?php
    require_once("User.php");

    //calling a subclass reference:
    echo "Value of user type Admin: ".User\Type::ADMIN;
?>

How can I throw CHECKED exceptions from inside Java 8 streams?

I think this approach is the right one:

public List<Class> getClasses() throws ClassNotFoundException {
    List<Class> classes;
    try {
        classes = Stream.of("java.lang.Object", "java.lang.Integer", "java.lang.String").map(className -> {
            try {
                return Class.forName(className);
            } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
                throw new UndeclaredThrowableException(e);
            }
        }).collect(Collectors.toList());
    } catch (UndeclaredThrowableException e) {
        if (e.getCause() instanceof ClassNotFoundException) {
            throw (ClassNotFoundException) e.getCause();
        } else {
            // this should never happen
            throw new IllegalStateException(e.getMessage(), e);
        }
    }
    return classes;
}

Wrapping the checked exception inside the Callable in a UndeclaredThrowableException (that’s the use case for this exception) and unwrapping it outside.

Yes, I find it ugly, and I would advise against using lambdas in this case and just fall back to a good old loop, unless you are working with a parallel stream and paralellization brings an objective benefit that justifies the unreadability of the code.

As many others have pointed out, there are solutions to this situation, and I hope one of them will make it into a future version of Java.

How do a send an HTTPS request through a proxy in Java?

Try the Apache Commons HttpClient library instead of trying to roll your own: http://hc.apache.org/httpclient-3.x/index.html

From their sample code:

  HttpClient httpclient = new HttpClient();
  httpclient.getHostConfiguration().setProxy("myproxyhost", 8080);

  /* Optional if authentication is required.
  httpclient.getState().setProxyCredentials("my-proxy-realm", " myproxyhost",
   new UsernamePasswordCredentials("my-proxy-username", "my-proxy-password"));
  */

  PostMethod post = new PostMethod("https://someurl");
  NameValuePair[] data = {
     new NameValuePair("user", "joe"),
     new NameValuePair("password", "bloggs")
  };
  post.setRequestBody(data);
  // execute method and handle any error responses.
  // ...
  InputStream in = post.getResponseBodyAsStream();
  // handle response.

  /* Example for a GET reqeust
  GetMethod httpget = new GetMethod("https://someurl");
  try {
    httpclient.executeMethod(httpget);
    System.out.println(httpget.getStatusLine());
  } finally {
    httpget.releaseConnection();
  }
  */

Where is the Postgresql config file: 'postgresql.conf' on Windows?

On my machine:

C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.4\data\postgresql.conf

storing user input in array

You have at least these 3 issues:

  1. you are not getting the element's value properly
  2. The div that you are trying to use to display whether the values have been saved or not has id display yet in your javascript you attempt to get element myDiv which is not even defined in your markup.
  3. Never name variables with reserved keywords in javascript. using "string" as a variable name is NOT a good thing to do on most of the languages I can think of. I renamed your string variable to "content" instead. See below.

You can save all three values at once by doing:

var title=new Array();
var names=new Array();//renamed to names -added an S-
                      //to avoid conflicts with the input named "name"
var tickets=new Array();

function insert(){
    var titleValue = document.getElementById('title').value;
    var actorValue = document.getElementById('name').value;
    var ticketsValue = document.getElementById('tickets').value;
    title[title.length]=titleValue;
    names[names.length]=actorValue;
    tickets[tickets.length]=ticketsValue;
  }

And then change the show function to:

function show() {
  var content="<b>All Elements of the Arrays :</b><br>";
  for(var i = 0; i < title.length; i++) {
     content +=title[i]+"<br>";
  }
  for(var i = 0; i < names.length; i++) {
     content +=names[i]+"<br>";
  }
  for(var i = 0; i < tickets.length; i++) {
     content +=tickets[i]+"<br>";
  }
  document.getElementById('display').innerHTML = content; //note that I changed
                                                    //to 'display' because that's
                                              //what you have in your markup
}

Here's a jsfiddle for you to play around.

How to get diff between all files inside 2 folders that are on the web?

Once you have the source trees, e.g.

diff -ENwbur repos1/ repos2/

Even better

diff -ENwbur repos1/ repos2/  | kompare -o -

and have a crack at it in a good gui tool :)

  • -Ewb ignore the bulk of whitespace changes
  • -N detect new files
  • -u unified
  • -r recurse

What are forward declarations in C++?

one quick addendum regarding: usually you put those forward references into a header file belonging to the .c(pp) file where the function/variable etc. is implemented. in your example it would look like this: add.h:

extern int add(int a, int b);

the keyword extern states that the function is actually declared in an external file (could also be a library etc.). your main.c would look like this:

#include
#include "add.h"

int main()
{
.
.
.

How to get a parent element to appear above child

Fortunately a solution exists. You must add a wrapper for parent and change z-index of this wrapper for example 10, and set z-index for child to -1:

_x000D_
_x000D_
.parent {_x000D_
    position: relative;_x000D_
    width: 750px;_x000D_
    height: 7150px;_x000D_
    background: red;_x000D_
    border: solid 1px #000;_x000D_
    z-index: initial;_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
.child {_x000D_
    position: relative;_x000D_
    background-color: blue;_x000D_
    z-index: -1;_x000D_
    color: white;_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
.wrapper {_x000D_
    position: relative;_x000D_
    background: green;_x000D_
    z-index: 10;_x000D_
}
_x000D_
<div class="wrapper">_x000D_
    <div class="parent">parent parent_x000D_
        <div class="child">child child child</div>_x000D_
    </div>_x000D_
</div>

convert xml to java object using jaxb (unmarshal)

Tests

On the Tests class we will add an @XmlRootElement annotation. Doing this will let your JAXB implementation know that when a document starts with this element that it should instantiate this class. JAXB is configuration by exception, this means you only need to add annotations where your mapping differs from the default. Since the testData property differs from the default mapping we will use the @XmlElement annotation. You may find the following tutorial helpful: http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/MOXy/GettingStarted

package forum11221136;

import javax.xml.bind.annotation.*;

@XmlRootElement
public class Tests {

    TestData testData;

    @XmlElement(name="test-data")
    public TestData getTestData() {
        return testData;
    }

    public void setTestData(TestData testData) {
        this.testData = testData;
    }

}

TestData

On this class I used the @XmlType annotation to specify the order in which the elements should be ordered in. I added a testData property that appeared to be missing. I also used an @XmlElement annotation for the same reason as in the Tests class.

package forum11221136;

import java.util.List;
import javax.xml.bind.annotation.*;

@XmlType(propOrder={"title", "book", "count", "testData"})
public class TestData {
    String title;
    String book;
    String count;
    List<TestData> testData;

    public String getTitle() {
        return title;
    }
    public void setTitle(String title) {
        this.title = title;
    }
    public String getBook() {
        return book;
    }
    public void setBook(String book) {
        this.book = book;
    }
    public String getCount() {
        return count;
    }
    public void setCount(String count) {
        this.count = count;
    }
    @XmlElement(name="test-data")
    public List<TestData> getTestData() {
        return testData;
    }
    public void setTestData(List<TestData> testData) {
        this.testData = testData;
    }
}

Demo

Below is an example of how to use the JAXB APIs to read (unmarshal) the XML and populate your domain model and then write (marshal) the result back to XML.

package forum11221136;

import java.io.File;
import javax.xml.bind.*;

public class Demo {

    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance(Tests.class);

        Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jc.createUnmarshaller();
        File xml = new File("src/forum11221136/input.xml");
        Tests tests = (Tests) unmarshaller.unmarshal(xml);

        Marshaller marshaller = jc.createMarshaller();
        marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true);
        marshaller.marshal(tests, System.out);
    }

}

How can I convert a Word document to PDF?

I agree with posters listing OpenOffice as a high-fidelity import/export facility of word / pdf docs with a Java API and it also works across platforms. OpenOffice import/export filters are pretty powerful and preserve most formatting during conversion to various formats including PDF. Docmosis and JODReports value-add to make life easier than learning the OpenOffice API directly which can be challenging because of the style of the UNO api and the crash-related bugs.

How to download image using requests

As easy as to import Image and requests

from PIL import Image
import requests

img = Image.open(requests.get(url, stream = True).raw)
img.save('img1.jpg')

sql primary key and index

a PK will become a clustered index unless you specify non clustered

Bash Templating: How to build configuration files from templates with Bash?

I think eval works really well. It handles templates with linebreaks, whitespace, and all sorts of bash stuff. If you have full control over the templates themselves of course:

$ cat template.txt
variable1 = ${variable1}
variable2 = $variable2
my-ip = \"$(curl -s ifconfig.me)\"

$ echo $variable1
AAA
$ echo $variable2
BBB
$ eval "echo \"$(<template.txt)\"" 2> /dev/null
variable1 = AAA
variable2 = BBB
my-ip = "11.22.33.44"

This method should be used with care, of course, since eval can execute arbitrary code. Running this as root is pretty much out of the question. Quotes in the template need to be escaped, otherwise they will be eaten by eval.

You can also use here documents if you prefer cat to echo

$ eval "cat <<< \"$(<template.txt)\"" 2> /dev/null

@plockc provoded a solution that avoids the bash quote escaping issue:

$ eval "cat <<EOF
$(<template.txt)
EOF
" 2> /dev/null

Edit: Removed part about running this as root using sudo...

Edit: Added comment about how quotes need to be escaped, added plockc's solution to the mix!

How can I change all input values to uppercase using Jquery?

You can use each()

$('#id-submit').click(function () {
      $(":input").each(function(){
          this.value = this.value.toUpperCase();
      });
});

jQuery ajax upload file in asp.net mvc

You can't upload files via ajax, you need to use an iFrame or some other trickery to do a full postback. This is mainly due to security concerns.

Here's a decent write-up including a sample project using SWFUpload and ASP.Net MVC by Steve Sanderson. It's the first thing I read getting this working properly with Asp.Net MVC (I was new to MVC at the time as well), hopefully it's as helpful for you.

How do I display the current value of an Android Preference in the Preference summary?

Here is my solution... FWIW

package com.example.PrefTest;

import android.content.SharedPreferences.OnSharedPreferenceChangeListener;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.preference.EditTextPreference;
import android.preference.ListPreference;
import android.preference.Preference;
import android.preference.PreferenceActivity;
import android.preference.PreferenceGroup;
import android.preference.PreferenceManager;

public class Preferences extends PreferenceActivity implements
        OnSharedPreferenceChangeListener {

    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.preferences);
        PreferenceManager.setDefaultValues(Preferences.this, R.xml.preferences,
            false);
        initSummary(getPreferenceScreen());
    }

    @Override

        if (p instanceof PreferenceGroup) {
            PreferenceGroup pGrp = (PreferenceGroup) p;
            for (int i = 0; i < pGrp.getPreferenceCount(); i++) {
                initSummary(pGrp.getPreference(i));
            }
        } else {
            updatePrefSummary(p);
        }
    }

    private void updatePrefSummary(Preference p) {
        if (p instanceof ListPreference) {

Using Linq select list inside list

If you want to filter the models by applicationname and the remaining models by surname:

List<Model> newList = list.Where(m => m.application == "applicationname")
    .Select(m => new Model {
        application = m.application,
        users = m.users.Where(u => u.surname == "surname").ToList()
    }).ToList();

As you can see, it needs to create new models and user-lists, hence it is not the most efficient way.

If you instead don't want to filter the list of users but filter the models by users with at least one user with a given username, use Any:

List<Model> newList = list
    .Where(m => m.application == "applicationname"
            &&  m.users.Any(u => u.surname == "surname"))
    .ToList();

Postgres: check if array field contains value?

With ANY operator you can search for only one value.

For example,

select * from mytable where 'Book' = ANY(pub_types);

If you want to search multiple values, you can use @> operator.

For example,

select * from mytable where pub_types @> '{"Journal", "Book"}';

You can specify in which ever order you like.

ReactJS map through Object

When calling Object.keys it returns a array of the object's keys.

Object.keys({ test: '', test2: ''}) // ['test', 'test2']

When you call Array#map the function you pass will give you 2 arguments;

  1. the item in the array,
  2. the index of the item.

When you want to get the data, you need to use item (or in the example below keyName) instead of i

{Object.keys(subjects).map((keyName, i) => (
    <li className="travelcompany-input" key={i}>
        <span className="input-label">key: {i} Name: {subjects[keyName]}</span>
    </li>
))}

Set colspan dynamically with jquery

How about

$([your selector]).attr('colspan',3);

I would imagine that to work but have no way to test at the moment. Using .attr() would be the usual jQuery way of setting attributes of elements in the wrapped set.

As has been mentioned in another answer, in order to get this to work would require removing the td elements that have no text in them from the DOM. It may be easier to do this all server side

EDIT:

As was mentioned in the comments, there is a bug in attempting to set colspan using attr() in IE, but the following works in IE6 and FireFox 3.0.13.

Working Demo

notice the use of the attribute colSpan and not colspan - the former works in both IE and Firefox, but the latter does not work in IE. Looking at jQuery 1.3.2 source, it would appear that attr() attempts to set the attribute as a property of the element if

  1. it exists as a property on the element (colSpan exists as a property and defaults to 1 on <td> HTMLElements in IE and FireFox)
  2. the document is not xml and
  3. the attribute is none of href, src or style

using colSpan as opposed to colspan works with attr() because the former is a property defined on the element whereas the latter is not.

the fall-through for attr() is to attempt to use setAttribute() on the element in question, setting the value to a string, but this causes problems in IE (bug #1070 in jQuery)

// convert the value to a string (all browsers do this but IE) see #1070
elem.setAttribute( name, "" + value );

In the demo, for each row, the text in each cell is evaluated. If the text is a blank string, then the cell is removed and a counter incremented. The first cell in the row that does not have class="colTime" has a colspan attribute set to the value of the counter + 1 (for the span it occupies itself).

After this, for each row, the text in the cell with class="colspans" is set to the colspan attribute values of each cell in the row from left to right.

jQuery code

$(function() {

  $('table.tblSimpleAgenda tr').each(function() {
    var tr = this;
    var counter = 0;

    $('td', tr).each(function(index, value) {
      var td = $(this);

      if (td.text() == "") {
        counter++;
        td.remove();
      }
    });

    if (counter !== 0) {
      $('td:not(.colTime):first', tr)
        .attr('colSpan', '' + parseInt(counter + 1,10) + '');
    }
  });

  $('td.colspans').each(function(){
    var td = $(this);
    var colspans = [];

    td.siblings().each(function() {
      colspans.push(($(this).attr('colSpan')) == null ? 1 : $(this).attr('colSpan'));
    });

    td.text(colspans.join(','));
  });

});

This is just a demonstration to show that attr() can be used, but to be aware of it's implementation and the cross-browser quirks that come with it. I've also made some assumptions about your table layout in the demo (i.e. apply the colspan to the first "non-Time" cell in each row), but hopefully you get the idea.

Remove values from select list based on condition

The index I will change as soon as it removes the 1st element. This code will remove values 52-140 from wifi channel combo box

obj = document.getElementById("id");
if (obj)
{
        var l = obj.length;
        for (var i=0; i < l; i++)
        {
            var channel = obj.options[i].value;

            if ( channel >= 52 &&  channel <= 140 )
            {
                obj.remove(i);
                i--;//after remove the length will decrease by 1
            }
        }
    }

What are the -Xms and -Xmx parameters when starting JVM?

Run the command java -X and you will get a list of all -X options:

-XshowSettings:vm show all vm related settings and continue
-XshowSettings:properties show all property settings and continue
-XshowSettings:locale show all locale related settings and continue

The -X options are non-standard and subject to change without notice.

I hope this will help you understand Xms, Xmx as well as many other things that matters the most. :)

How to use adb pull command?

I don't think adb pull handles wildcards for multiple files. I ran into the same problem and did this by moving the files to a folder and then pulling the folder.

I found a link doing the same thing. Try following these steps.

How to copy selected files from Android with adb pull

Split string using a newline delimiter with Python

If you want to split only by newlines, you can use str.splitlines():

Example:

>>> data = """a,b,c
... d,e,f
... g,h,i
... j,k,l"""
>>> data
'a,b,c\nd,e,f\ng,h,i\nj,k,l'
>>> data.splitlines()
['a,b,c', 'd,e,f', 'g,h,i', 'j,k,l']

With str.split() your case also works:

>>> data = """a,b,c
... d,e,f
... g,h,i
... j,k,l"""
>>> data
'a,b,c\nd,e,f\ng,h,i\nj,k,l'
>>> data.split()
['a,b,c', 'd,e,f', 'g,h,i', 'j,k,l']

However if you have spaces (or tabs) it will fail:

>>> data = """
... a, eqw, qwe
... v, ewr, err
... """
>>> data
'\na, eqw, qwe\nv, ewr, err\n'
>>> data.split()
['a,', 'eqw,', 'qwe', 'v,', 'ewr,', 'err']

java collections - keyset() vs entrySet() in map

Every time you call itr2.next() you are getting a distinct value. Not the same value. You should only call this once in the loop.

Iterator<String> itr2 = keys.iterator();
    while(itr2.hasNext()){
        String v = itr2.next();
        System.out.println("Key: "+v+" ,value: "+m.get(v));
    }

Excel Formula to SUMIF date falls in particular month

=Sumifs(B:B,A:A,">=1/1/2013",A:A,"<=1/31/2013")

The beauty of this formula is you can add more data to columns A and B and it will just recalculate.

Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The files c or directory could not be found

I have solved this issue as follows:

removed from chrome extension and install ext again. It will work ISA

How can a add a row to a data frame in R?

If you want to make an empty data frame and add contents in a loop, the following may help:

# Number of students in class
student.count <- 36

# Gather data about the students
student.age <- sample(14:17, size = student.count, replace = TRUE)
student.gender <- sample(c('male', 'female'), size = student.count, replace = TRUE)
student.marks <- sample(46:97, size = student.count, replace = TRUE)

# Create empty data frame
student.data <- data.frame()

# Populate the data frame using a for loop
for (i in 1 : student.count) {
    # Get the row data
    age <- student.age[i]
    gender <- student.gender[i]
    marks <- student.marks[i]

    # Populate the row
    new.row <- data.frame(age = age, gender = gender, marks = marks)

    # Add the row
    student.data <- rbind(student.data, new.row)
}

# Print the data frame
student.data

Hope it helps :)

How to wait for async method to complete?

Here is a workaround using a flag:

//outside your event or method, but inside your class
private bool IsExecuted = false;

private async Task MethodA()
{

//Do Stuff Here

IsExecuted = true;
}

.
.
.

//Inside your event or method

{
await MethodA();

while (!isExecuted) Thread.Sleep(200); // <-------

await MethodB();
}

Push an associative item into an array in JavaScript

Another method for creating a JavaScript associative array

First create an array of objects,

 var arr = {'name': []};

Next, push the value to the object.

  var val = 2;
  arr['name'].push(val);

To read from it:

var val = arr.name[0];

jQuery send HTML data through POST

As far as you're concerned once you've "pulled out" the contents with something like .html() it's just a string. You can test that with

<html>
  <head>
    <title>runthis</title>
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        $(document).ready( function() {
            var x = $("#foo").html();
            alert( typeof(x) );
        });
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
        <div id="foo"><table><tr><td>x</td></tr></table><span>xyz</span></div>
    </body>
</html>

The alert text is string. As long as you don't pass it to a parser there's no magic about it, it's a string like any other string.
There's nothing that hinders you from using .post() to send this string back to the server.

edit: Don't pass a string as the parameter data to .post() but an object, like

var data = {
  id: currid,
  html: div_html
};
$.post("http://...", data, ...);

jquery will handle the encoding of the parameters.
If you (for whatever reason) want to keep your string you have to encode the values with something like escape().

var data = 'id='+ escape(currid) +'&html='+ escape(div_html);

Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object not found

I think I got what I was looking for..

data.train <- read.table("Assign2.WineComplete.csv",sep=",",header=T)
fit <- rpart(quality ~ ., method="class",data=data.train)
plot(fit)
text(fit, use.n=TRUE)
summary(fit)

Size of Matrix OpenCV

For 2D matrix:

mat.rows – Number of rows in a 2D array.

mat.cols – Number of columns in a 2D array.

Or: C++: Size Mat::size() const

The method returns a matrix size: Size(cols, rows) . When the matrix is more than 2-dimensional, the returned size is (-1, -1).

For multidimensional matrix, you need to use

int thisSizes[3] = {2, 3, 4};
cv::Mat mat3D(3, thisSizes, CV_32FC1);
// mat3D.size tells the size of the matrix
// mat3D.size[0] = 2;
// mat3D.size[1] = 3;
// mat3D.size[2] = 4;

Note, here 2 for z axis, 3 for y axis, 4 for x axis. By x, y, z, it means the order of the dimensions. x index changes the fastest.

How to check if anonymous object has a method?

One way to do it must be if (typeof myObj.prop1 != "undefined") {...}

Where is the php.ini file on a Linux/CentOS PC?

You can find the path to php.ini in the output of phpinfo(). See under "Loaded Configuration File".

Copy a file list as text from Windows Explorer

If you paste the listing into your word processor instead of Notepad, (since each file name is in quotation marks with the full path name), you can highlight all the stuff you don't want on the first file, then use Find and Replace to replace every occurrence of that with nothing. Same with the ending quote (").

It makes a nice clean list of file names.

Create a folder if it doesn't already exist

Here is the missing piece. You need to pass 'recursive' flag as third argument (boolean true) in mkdir call like this:

mkdir('path/to/directory', 0755, true);
