How to fire an event when v-model changes?

This happens because your click handler fires before the value of the radio button changes. You need to listen to the change event instead:

<input
  type="radio"
  name="optionsRadios"
  id="optionsRadios2"
  value=""
  v-model="srStatus"
  v-on:change="foo"> //here

Also, make sure you really want to call foo() on ready... seems like maybe you don't actually want to do that.

ready:function(){
    foo();
},

The documentation of Google Guava's EventBus package and classes is a good example of Javadoc. Especially the package documentation with the quick start is well written.

How to find foreign key dependencies in SQL Server?

If you plan on deleting or renaming a table or column finding only foreign key dependencies might not be enough.

Referencing tables not connected with foreign key - You’ll also need to search for referencing tables that might not be connected with foreign key (I’ve seen many databases with bad design that didn’t have foreign keys defined but that did have related data). Solution might be to search for column name in all tables and look for similar columns.

Other database objects – this is probably a bit off topic but if you were looking for all references than it’s also important to check for dependent objects.

GUI Tools – Try SSMS “Find related objects” option or tools such as ApexSQL Search (free tool, integrates into SSMS) to identify all dependent objects including tables connected with foreign key.

What is the difference between RTP or RTSP in a streaming server?

RTSP (actually RTP) can be used for streaming video, but also many other types of media including live presentations. Rtsp is just the protocol used to setup the RTP session.

For all the details you can check out my open source RTSP Server implementation on the following address: https://net7mma.codeplex.com/

Or my article @ http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/507218/Managed-Media-Aggregation-using-Rtsp-and-Rtp

It supports re-sourcing streams as well as the dynamic creation of streams, various RFC's are implemented and the library achieves better performance and less memory then FFMPEG and just about any other solutions in the transport layer and thus makes it a good candidate to use as a centralized point of access for most scenarios.

How to force the browser to reload cached CSS and JavaScript files

I've heard this called "auto versioning". The most common method is to include the static file's modification time somewhere in the URL, and strip it out using rewrite handlers or URL configurations:

How to change Status Bar text color in iOS

  1. Set the UIViewControllerBasedStatusBarAppearance to YES in the .plist file.

  2. In the viewDidLoad do a [self setNeedsStatusBarAppearanceUpdate];

  3. Add the following method:

    - (UIStatusBarStyle)preferredStatusBarStyle
    {
        return UIStatusBarStyleLightContent;
    }

Note: This does not work for controllers inside UINavigationController, please see Tyson's comment below :)

Swift 3 - This will work controllers inside UINavigationController. Add this code inside your controller.

// Preferred status bar style lightContent to use on dark background.
// Swift 3
override var preferredStatusBarStyle: UIStatusBarStyle {
    return .lightContent
}

Swift 5 and SwiftUI

For SwiftUI create a new swift file called HostingController.swift

import Foundation
import UIKit
import SwiftUI

class HostingController: UIHostingController<ContentView> {
    override var preferredStatusBarStyle: UIStatusBarStyle {
        return .lightContent
    }
}

Then change the following lines of code in the SceneDelegate.swift

window.rootViewController = UIHostingController(rootView: ContentView())

to

window.rootViewController = HostingController(rootView: ContentView())

Where can I find decent visio templates/diagrams for software architecture?

For SOA system architecture, I use the SOACP Visio stencil. It provides the symbols that are used in Thomas Erl's SOA book series.

I use the Visio Network and Database stencils to model most other requirements.

SSH library for Java

The Java Secure Channel (JSCH) is a very popular library, used by maven, ant and eclipse. It is open source with a BSD style license.

WebForms UnobtrusiveValidationMode requires a ScriptResourceMapping for 'jquery'. Please add a ScriptResourceMapping named jquery(case-sensitive)

There are at least three ways to disable the use of unobtrusive JavaScript for client-side validation:

  1. Add the following to the web.config file:
    <configuration>
      <appSettings>
        <add key="ValidationSettings:UnobtrusiveValidationMode" value="None" />
      </appSettings>
    </configuration>
  2. Set the value of the System.Web.UI.ValidationSettings.UnobtrusiveValidationMode static property to System.Web.UI.UnobtrusiveValidationMode.None
  3. Set the value of the System.Web.UI.Page.UnobtrusiveValidationMode instance property to System.Web.UI.UnobtrusiveValidationMode.None

To disable the functionality on a per page basis, I prefer to set the Page.UnobtrusiveValidationMode property using the page directive:

<%@ Page Language="C#" UnobtrusiveValidationMode="None" %>

Generate a Hash from string in Javascript

I needed a similar function (but different) to generate a unique-ish ID based on the username and current time. So:

window.newId = ->
  # create a number based on the username
  unless window.userNumber?
    window.userNumber = 0
  for c,i in window.MyNamespace.userName
    char = window.MyNamespace.userName.charCodeAt(i)
    window.MyNamespace.userNumber+=char
  ((window.MyNamespace.userNumber + Math.floor(Math.random() * 1e15) + new Date().getMilliseconds()).toString(36)).toUpperCase()

edit Jun 2015: For new code I use shortid: https://www.npmjs.com/package/shortid

How do I find the difference between two values without knowing which is larger?

If you plan to use the signed distance calculation snippet posted by phi (like I did) and your b might have value 0, you probably want to fix the code as described below:

import math

def distance(a, b):
    if (a == b):
        return 0
    elif (a < 0) and (b < 0) or (a > 0) and (b >= 0): # fix: b >= 0 to cover case b == 0
        if (a < b):
            return (abs(abs(a) - abs(b)))
        else:
            return -(abs(abs(a) - abs(b)))
    else:
        return math.copysign((abs(a) + abs(b)),b)

The original snippet does not work correctly regarding sign when a > 0 and b == 0.

enable or disable checkbox in html

If you specify the disabled attribute then the value you give it must be disabled. (In HTML 5 you may leave off everything except the attribute value. In HTML 4 you may leave off everything except the attribute name.)

If you do not want the control to be disabled then do not specify the attribute at all.

Disabled:

<input type="checkbox" disabled>
<input type="checkbox" disabled="disabled">

Enabled:

<input type="checkbox">

Invalid (but usually error recovered to be treated as disabled):

<input type="checkbox" disabled="1">
<input type="checkbox" disabled="true">
<input type="checkbox" disabled="false">

So, without knowing your template language, I guess you are looking for:

<td><input type="checkbox" name="repriseCheckBox" {checkStat == 1 ? disabled : }/></td>

What is recursion and when should I use it?

Recursion is an expression directly or indirectly referencing itself.

Consider recursive acronyms as a simple example:

  • GNU stands for GNU's Not Unix
  • PHP stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor
  • YAML stands for YAML Ain't Markup Language
  • WINE stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator
  • VISA stands for Visa International Service Association

How to check if a column exists in a SQL Server table?

First check if the table/column(id/name) combination exists in dbo.syscolumns (an internal SQL Server table that contains field definitions), and if not issue the appropriate ALTER TABLE query to add it. For example:

IF NOT EXISTS ( SELECT *
            FROM    syscolumns
            WHERE   id = OBJECT_ID('Client')
                    AND name = 'Name' )

How to insert a line break in a SQL Server VARCHAR/NVARCHAR string

CodeIgniter: 404 Page Not Found on Live Server

There are a number of things you can check here. I'll go over each one with you.

1, When moving to a live server from localhost(htdocs) you need to make sure that the version of PHP you are using is supported.

To test this: Create an 'index.php' file and add the below line only.

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Just press 'Ctrl + F' and search "version". You will find the php version. It may need to be 5.3+ to support features.

2, Check your config/config.php and check your $config['base_url'] and $config['index_page'] screen shot below

enter image description here

I recommend putting site name in the base url example: 'www.site.com/' but remove the index.php for cleaning.

3, MOST LIKELY THE REASON SO START WITH THIS

It most likely is the .htaccess file. Here is mine Made by Elliot Haughton. Put this in your root directory and change line 9 'RewriteBase /' if necessary.

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
# !IMPORTANT! Set your RewriteBase here and don't forget trailing and leading
# slashes.
# If your page resides at
# http://www.example.com/mypage/test1
# then use
# RewriteBase /mypage/test1/
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]

<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
# If we don't have mod_rewrite installed, all 404's
# can be sent to index.php, and everything works as normal.
# Submitted by: ElliotHaughin
ErrorDocument 404 /index.php

(Make sure you use both parts above. The editor broke it in two but all code above is one .htaccess file).

If none of the above works, give me a shout back and we'll step through it.

How to shutdown a Spring Boot Application in a correct way?

Spring Boot provided several application listener while try to create application context one of them is ApplicationFailedEvent. We can use to know weather the application context initialized or not.

    import org.slf4j.Logger;
    import org.slf4j.LoggerFactory;
    import org.springframework.boot.context.event.ApplicationFailedEvent;
    import org.springframework.context.ApplicationListener;

    public class ApplicationErrorListener implements
                    ApplicationListener<ApplicationFailedEvent> {

        private static final Logger LOGGER =
        LoggerFactory.getLogger(ApplicationErrorListener.class);

        @Override
        public void onApplicationEvent(ApplicationFailedEvent event) {
           if (event.getException() != null) {
                LOGGER.info("!!!!!!Looks like something not working as
                                expected so stoping application.!!!!!!");
                         event.getApplicationContext().close();
                  System.exit(-1);
           }
        }
    }

Add to above listener class to SpringApplication.

    new SpringApplicationBuilder(Application.class)
            .listeners(new ApplicationErrorListener())
            .run(args);

Overlay normal curve to histogram in R

Here's a nice easy way I found:

h <- hist(g, breaks = 10, density = 10,
          col = "lightgray", xlab = "Accuracy", main = "Overall")
xfit <- seq(min(g), max(g), length = 40)
yfit <- dnorm(xfit, mean = mean(g), sd = sd(g))
yfit <- yfit * diff(h$mids[1:2]) * length(g)

lines(xfit, yfit, col = "black", lwd = 2)

C++ [Error] no matching function for call to

to add to John's answer:

what you want to pass to the shuffle function is a deck of cards from the class deckOfCards that you've declared in main; however, the deck of cards or vector<Card> deck that you've declared in your class is private, so not accessible from outside the class. this means you'd want a getter function, something like this:

class deckOfCards
{
    private:
        vector<Card> deck;

    public:
        deckOfCards();
        static int count;
        static int next;
        void shuffle(vector<Card>& deck);
        Card dealCard();
        bool moreCards();
        vector<Card>& getDeck() {   //GETTER
            return deck;
        }
};

this will in turn allow you to call your shuffle function from main like this:

deckOfCards cardDeck; // create DeckOfCards object
cardDeck.shuffle(cardDeck.getDeck()); // shuffle the cards in the deck

however, you have more problems, specifically when calling cout. first, you're calling the dealCard function wrongly; as dealCard is a memeber function of a class, you should be calling it like this cardDeck.dealCard(); instead of this dealCard(cardDeck);.

now, we come to your second problem - print to standard output. you're trying to print your deal card, which is an object of type Card by using the following instruction:

cout << cardDeck.dealCard();// deal the cards in the deck

yet, the cout doesn't know how to print it, as it's not a standard type. this means you should overload your << operator to print whatever you want it to print when calling with a Card type.

How can I get date and time formats based on Culture Info?

Culture can be changed for a specific cell in grid view.

Intro to GPU programming

I think the others have answered your second question. As for the first, the "Hello World" of CUDA, I don't think there is a set standard, but personally, I'd recommend a parallel adder (i.e. a programme that sums N integers).

If you look the "reduction" example in the NVIDIA SDK, the superficially simple task can be extended to demonstrate numerous CUDA considerations such as coalesced reads, memory bank conflicts and loop unrolling.

See this presentation for more info:

How to get the index of an item in a list in a single step?

If anyone wonders for the Array version, it goes like this:

Java string split with "." (dot)

I believe you should escape the dot. Try:

String filename = "D:/some folder/001.docx";
String extensionRemoved = filename.split("\\.")[0];

Otherwise dot is interpreted as any character in regular expressions.

Setting state on componentDidMount()

It is not an anti-pattern to call setState in componentDidMount. In fact, ReactJS provides an example of this in their documentation:

You should populate data with AJAX calls in the componentDidMount lifecycle method. This is so you can use setState to update your component when the data is retrieved.

Example From Doc

componentDidMount() {
    fetch("https://api.example.com/items")
      .then(res => res.json())
      .then(
        (result) => {
          this.setState({
            isLoaded: true,
            items: result.items
          });
        },
        // Note: it's important to handle errors here
        // instead of a catch() block so that we don't swallow
        // exceptions from actual bugs in components.
        (error) => {
          this.setState({
            isLoaded: true,
            error
          });
        }
      )
  }

Loop until a specific user input

As an alternative to @Mark Byers' approach, you can use while True:

guess = 50 # this should be outside the loop, I think
while True:    # infinite loop
    n = raw_input("\n\nTrue, False or Correct?: ")
    if n == "Correct":
        break  # stops the loop
    elif n == "True":
        # etc.

How to get a parent element to appear above child

Since your divs are position:absolute, they're not really nested as far as position is concerned. On your jsbin page I switched the order of the divs in the HTML to:

<div class="child"><div class="parent"></div></div>

and the red box covered the blue box, which I think is what you're looking for.

Set multiple system properties Java command line

You may be able to use the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable to set options. It worked for me with Rasbian. See Environment Variables and System Properties which has this to say:

In many environments, the command line is not readily accessible to start the application with the necessary command-line options.

This often happens with applications that use embedded VMs (meaning they use the Java Native Interface (JNI) Invocation API to start the VM), or where the startup is deeply nested in scripts. In these environments the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable can be useful to augment a command line.

When this environment variable is set, the JNI_CreateJavaVM function (in the JNI Invocation API), the JNI_CreateJavaVM function adds the value of the environment variable to the options supplied in its JavaVMInitArgs argument.

However this environment variable use may be disabled for security reasons.

In some cases, this option is disabled for security reasons. For example, on the Oracle Solaris operating system, this option is disabled when the effective user or group ID differs from the real ID.

See this example showing the difference between specifying on the command line versus using the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable.

PDOException SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory

This is because PDO treats "localhost" host specially:

Note: Unix only: When the host name is set to "localhost", then the connection to the server is made thru a domain socket. If PDO_MYSQL is compiled against libmysqlclient then the location of the socket file is at libmysqlclient's compiled in location. If PDO_MYSQL is compiled against mysqlnd a default socket can be set thru the pdo_mysql.default_socket setting.

(from http://php.net/manual/en/ref.pdo-mysql.connection.php)

Changing localhost to 127.0.0.1 will "force" the use of TCP.

Note: mysqli_connect is working fine with localhost.

What is causing the error `string.split is not a function`?

In clausule if, use (). For example:

Array.push() and unique items

You can use the Set structure from ES6 to make your code faster and more readable:

// Create Set
this.items = new Set();

add(item) {
    this.items.add(item);

    // Set to array
    console.log([...this.items]);
}

Difference between WebStorm and PHPStorm

I use IntelliJ Idea, PHPStorm, and WebStorm. I thought WebStorm would be sufficient for PHP coding, but in reality it's great for editing but doesn't feel like it real-time-error-checks PHP as well as PHPStorm. This is just an observation, coming from a regular user of a JetBrains products.

If you're a student try taking advantage of the free license while attending school; it gives you a chance to explore different JetBrains IDE... Did I mention CLion? =]

Real mouse position in canvas

The easiest way to compute the correct mouse click or mouse move position on a canvas event is to use this little equation:

canvas.addEventListener('click', event =>
{
    let bound = canvas.getBoundingClientRect();

    let x = event.clientX - bound.left - canvas.clientLeft;
    let y = event.clientY - bound.top - canvas.clientTop;

    context.fillRect(x, y, 16, 16);
});

If the canvas has padding-left or padding-top, subtract x and y via:

x -= parseFloat(style['padding-left'].replace('px'));
y -= parseFloat(style['padding-top'].replace('px'));

Normalization in DOM parsing with java - how does it work?

In simple, Normalisation is Reduction of Redundancies.
Examples of Redundancies:
a) white spaces outside of the root/document tags(...<document></document>...)
b) white spaces within start tag (<...>) and end tag (</...>)
c) white spaces between attributes and their values (ie. spaces between key name and =")
d) superfluous namespace declarations
e) line breaks/white spaces in texts of attributes and tags
f) comments etc...

How to make PyCharm always show line numbers

Bulk package updates using Conda

Before you proceed to conda update --all command, first update conda with conda update conda command if you haven't update it for a long time. It happent to me (Python 2.7.13 on Anaconda 64 bits).

Difference between long and int data types

From this reference:

An int was originally intended to be the "natural" word size of the processor. Many modern processors can handle different word sizes with equal ease.

Also, this bit:

On many (but not all) C and C++ implementations, a long is larger than an int. Today's most popular desktop platforms, such as Windows and Linux, run primarily on 32 bit processors and most compilers for these platforms use a 32 bit int which has the same size and representation as a long.

How to get the row number from a datatable?

ArrayList check = new ArrayList();

for (int i = 0; i < oDS.Tables[0].Rows.Count; i++)
{
    int iValue = Convert.ToInt32(oDS.Tables[0].Rows[i][3].ToString());
    check.Add(iValue);

}

Move column by name to front of table in pandas

Here is a generic set of code that I frequently use to rearrange the position of columns. You may find it useful.

cols = df.columns.tolist()
n = int(cols.index('Mid'))
cols = [cols[n]] + cols[:n] + cols[n+1:]
df = df[cols]

OpenSSL Verify return code: 20 (unable to get local issuer certificate)

This error also happens if you're using a self-signed certificate with a keyUsage missing the value keyCertSign.

Invalidating JSON Web Tokens

If you want to be able to revoke user tokens, you can keep track of all issued tokens on your DB and check if they're valid (exist) on a session-like table. The downside is that you'll hit the DB on every request.

I haven't tried it, but i suggest the following method to allow token revocation while keeping DB hits to a minimum -

To lower the database checks rate, divide all issued JWT tokens into X groups according to some deterministic association (e.g., 10 groups by first digit of the user id).

Each JWT token will hold the group id and a timestamp created upon token creation. e.g., { "group_id": 1, "timestamp": 1551861473716 }

The server will hold all group ids in memory and each group will have a timestamp that indicates when was the last log-out event of a user belonging to that group. e.g., { "group1": 1551861473714, "group2": 1551861487293, ... }

Requests with a JWT token that have an older group timestamp, will be checked for validity (DB hit) and if valid, a new JWT token with a fresh timestamp will be issued for client's future use. If the token's group timestamp is newer, we trust the JWT (No DB hit).

So -

  1. We only validate a JWT token using the DB if the token has an old group timestamp, while future requests won't get validated until someone in the user's group will log-out.
  2. We use groups to limit the number of timestamp changes (say there's a user logging in and out like there's no tomorrow - will only affect limited number of users instead of everyone)
  3. We limit the number of groups to limit the amount of timestamps held in memory
  4. Invalidating a token is a breeze - just remove it from the session table and generate a new timestamp for the user's group.

Why are unnamed namespaces used and what are their benefits?

Unnamed namespaces are a utility to make an identifier translation unit local. They behave as if you would choose a unique name per translation unit for a namespace:

namespace unique { /* empty */ }
using namespace unique;
namespace unique { /* namespace body. stuff in here */ }

The extra step using the empty body is important, so you can already refer within the namespace body to identifiers like ::name that are defined in that namespace, since the using directive already took place.

This means you can have free functions called (for example) help that can exist in multiple translation units, and they won't clash at link time. The effect is almost identical to using the static keyword used in C which you can put in in the declaration of identifiers. Unnamed namespaces are a superior alternative, being able to even make a type translation unit local.

namespace { int a1; }
static int a2;

Both a's are translation unit local and won't clash at link time. But the difference is that the a1 in the anonymous namespace gets a unique name.

Read the excellent article at comeau-computing Why is an unnamed namespace used instead of static? (Archive.org mirror).

CSS overflow-x: visible; and overflow-y: hidden; causing scrollbar issue

There is now a new way of addressing this issue - if you remove position: relative from the container which needs to have the overflow-y visible, you can have overflow-y visible and overflow-x hidden, and vice versa (have overflow-x visible and overflow-y hidden, just make sure the container with the visible property is not relatively positioned).

See this post from CSS Tricks for more details - it worked for me: https://css-tricks.com/popping-hidden-overflow/

get enum name from enum value

In my case value was not an integer but a String. getNameByCode method can be added to the enum to get name of a String value-

enum CODE {
    SUCCESS("SCS"), DELETE("DEL");

    private String status;

    /**
     * @return the status
     */
    public String getStatus() {
        return status;
    }

    /**
     * @param status
     *            the status to set
     */
    public void setStatus(String status) {
        this.status = status;
    }

    private CODE(String status) {
        this.status = status;
    }

    public static String getNameByCode(String code) {
        for (int i = 0; i < CODE.values().length; i++) {
            if (code.equals(CODE.values()[i].status))
                return CODE.values()[i].name();
        }
        return null;
    }

jQuery .val change doesn't change input value

This is just a possible scenario which happened to me. Well if it helps someone then great: I wrote a complicated app which somewhere along the code I used a function to clear all textboxes values before showing them. Sometime later I tried to set a textbox value using jquery val('value') but I did'nt notice that right after that I invoked the ClearAllInputs method.. so, this could also happen.

How to increase the distance between table columns in HTML?

You can just use padding. Like so:

http://jsfiddle.net/davidja/KG8Kv/

HTML

   <table>
        <tr>
            <td>item1</td>
            <td>item2</td>
            <td>item2</td>
        </tr>
    </table>

CSS

 td {padding:10px 25px 10px 25px;}

OR

 tr td:first-child {padding-left:0px;}
 td {padding:10px 0px 10px 50px;}

How to change value of ArrayList element in java

Where you say you're changing the value of the first element;

x = Integer.valueOf(9);

You're changing x to point to an entirely new Integer, but never using it again. You're not changing the collection in any way.

Since you're working with ArrayList, you can use ListIterator if you want an iterator that allows you to change the elements, this is the snippet of your code that would need to be changed;

//initialize the Iterator
ListIterator<Integer> i = a.listIterator();

//changed the value of frist element in List
if(i.hasNext()) {
    i.next();
    i.set(Integer.valueOf(9));    // Change the element the iterator is currently at
}

// New iterator, and print all the elements
Iterator iter = a.iterator();
while(iter.hasNext())
    System.out.print(iter.next());

>> 912345678

Sadly the same cannot be extended to other collections like Set<T>. Implementation details (a HashSet for example being implemented as a hash table and changing the object could change the hash value and therefore the iteration order) makes Set<T> a "add new/remove only" type of data structure, and changing the content at all while iterating over it is not safe.

How to get the current date and time

In Java 8 it's:

ZonedDateTime dateTime = ZonedDateTime.now();

How to dismiss notification after action has been clicked

In my opinion using a BroadcastReceiver is a cleaner way to cancel a Notification:

In AndroidManifest.xml:

<receiver
    android:name=.NotificationCancelReceiver" >
    <intent-filter android:priority="999" >
         <action android:name="com.example.cancel" />
    </intent-filter>
</receiver>

In java File:

Intent cancel = new Intent("com.example.cancel");
PendingIntent cancelP = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, cancel, PendingIntent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT);

NotificationCompat.Action actions[] = new NotificationCompat.Action[1];

NotificationCancelReceiver

public class NotificationCancelReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
    @Override
    public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
        //Cancel your ongoing Notification
    };
}

Populate XDocument from String

You can use XDocument.Parse(string) instead of Load(string).

ssh: Could not resolve hostname github.com: Name or service not known; fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

Recently, I have seen this problem too. Below, you have my solution:

  1. ping github.com, if ping failed. it is DNS error.
  2. sudo vim /etc/resolv.conf, the add: nameserver 8.8.8.8 nameserver 8.8.4.4

Or it can be a genuine network issue. Restart your network-manager using sudo service network-manager restart or fix it up

I have just received this error after switching from HTTPS to SSH (for my origin remote). To fix, I simply ran the following command (for each repo):

ssh -T [email protected]

Upon receiving a successful response, I could fetch/push to the repo with ssh.

I took that command from Git's Testing your SSH connection guide, which is part of the greater Connecting to GitHub with with SSH guide.

compare differences between two tables in mysql

 select t1.user_id,t2.user_id
 from t1 left join t2 ON t1.user_id = t2.user_id
 and t1.username=t2.username
 and t1.first_name=t2.first_name
 and t1.last_name=t2.last_name

try this. This will compare your table and find all matching pairs, if any mismatch return NULL on left.

Android Button setOnClickListener Design

You can use array to handle several button click listener in android like this: here i am setting button click listener for n buttons by using array as:

Button btn[] = new Button[n];

NOTE: n is a constant positive integer

Code example:

//class androidMultipleButtonActions
package a.b.c.app;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.View.OnClickListener;
import android.widget.Button;

public class androidMultipleButtonActions extends Activity implements OnClickListener{
    Button btn[] = new Button[3];

    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.main);
        btn[0] = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button1);
        btn[1] = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button2);
        btn[2] = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button3);
        for(int i=0; i<3; i++){
            btn[i].setOnClickListener(this);
        }
    }

    public void onClick(View v) {
        if(v == findViewById(R.id.Button1)){
            //do here what u wanna do.
        }
        else if(v == findViewById(R.id.Button2)){
            //do here what u wanna do.
        }
        else if(v == findViewById(R.id.Button3)){
            //do here what u wanna do.
        }
    }
}

Note: First write an main.xml file if u dont know how to write please mail to: [email protected]

Position absolute and overflow hidden

An absolutely positioned element is actually positioned regarding a relative parent, or the nearest found relative parent. So the element with overflow: hidden should be between relative and absolute positioned elements:

<div class="relative-parent">
  <div class="hiding-parent">
    <div class="child"></div>
  </div>
</div>

.relative-parent {
  position:relative;
}
.hiding-parent {
  overflow:hidden;
}
.child {
  position:absolute;
}

Twitter Bootstrap Multilevel Dropdown Menu

I was able to fix the sub-menu's always pinning to the top of the parent menu from Andres's answer with the following addition:

.dropdown-menu li {
    position: relative;
}

I also add an icon "icon-chevron-right" on items which contain menu sub-menus, and change the icon from black to white on hover (to compliment the text changing to white and look better with the selected blue background).

Here is the full less/css change (replace the above with this):

.dropdown-menu li {
    position: relative;

    [class^="icon-"] {
        float: right;
    }

    &:hover {
        // Switch to white icons on hover
        [class^="icon-"] {
            background-image: url("../img/glyphicons-halflings-white.png");
        }
    }
}

Closing JFrame with button click

JButton b3 = new JButton("CLOSE");

b3.setBounds(50, 375, 250, 50);

b3.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
    {
        System.exit(0);
    }
});

Bootstrap 3 Carousel Not Working

For me, the carousel wasn't working in the DreamWeaver CC provided the code in the "template" page I am playing with. I needed to add the data-ride="carousel" attribute to the carousel div in order for it to start working. Thanks to Adarsh for his code snippet which highlighted the missing attribute.

Push existing project into Github

you will need to specify which branch and which remote when pushing:

? git init ./
? git add Readme.md
? git commit -m "Initial Commit"
? git remote add github <project url>
? git push github master

Will work as expected.

You can set this up by default by doing:

? git branch -u github/master master

which will allow you to do a git push from master without specifying the remote or branch.

JavaFX FXML controller - constructor vs initialize method

In Addition to the above answers, there probably should be noted that there is a legacy way to implement the initialization. There is an interface called Initializable from the fxml library.

import javafx.fxml.Initializable;

class MyController implements Initializable {
    @FXML private TableView<MyModel> tableView;

    @Override
    public void initialize(URL location, ResourceBundle resources) {
        tableView.getItems().addAll(getDataFromSource());
    }
}

Parameters:

location - The location used to resolve relative paths for the root object, or null if the location is not known.
resources - The resources used to localize the root object, or null if the root object was not localized.

And the note of the docs why the simple way of using @FXML public void initialize() works:

NOTE This interface has been superseded by automatic injection of location and resources properties into the controller. FXMLLoader will now automatically call any suitably annotated no-arg initialize() method defined by the controller. It is recommended that the injection approach be used whenever possible.

Display PNG image as response to jQuery AJAX request

Method 1

You should not make an ajax call, just put the src of the img element as the url of the image.

This would be useful if you use GET instead of POST

<script type="text/javascript" >

  $(document).ready( function() {
      $('.div_imagetranscrits').html('<img src="get_image_probes_via_ajax.pl?id_project=xxx" />')
  } );

</script>

Method 2

If you want to POST to that image and do it the way you do (trying to parse the contents of the image on the client side, you could try something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_URI_scheme

You'll need to encode the data to base64, then you could put data:[<MIME-type>][;charset=<encoding>][;base64],<data> into the img src

as example:

<img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAUAAAAFCAYAAACNbyblAAAAHElEQVQI12P4//8/w38GIAXDIBKE0DHxgljNBAAO9TXL0Y4OHwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==" alt="Red dot img" />

To encode to base64:

Convert canvas to PDF

So for today, jspdf-1.5.3. To answer the question of having the pdf file page exactly same as the canvas. After many tries of different combinations, I figured you gotta do something like this. We first need to set the height and width for the output pdf file with correct orientation, otherwise the sides might be cut off. Then we get the dimensions from the 'pdf' file itself, if you tried to use the canvas's dimensions, the sides might be cut off again. I am not sure why that happens, my best guess is the jsPDF convert the dimensions in other units in the library.

  // Download button
  $("#download-image").on('click', function () {
    let width = __CANVAS.width;
    let height = __CANVAS.height;

    //set the orientation
    if(width > height){
      pdf = new jsPDF('l', 'px', [width, height]);
    }
    else{
      pdf = new jsPDF('p', 'px', [height, width]);
    }
    //then we get the dimensions from the 'pdf' file itself
    width = pdf.internal.pageSize.getWidth();
    height = pdf.internal.pageSize.getHeight();
    pdf.addImage(__CANVAS, 'PNG', 0, 0,width,height);
    pdf.save("download.pdf");
  });

Learnt about switching orientations from here: https://github.com/MrRio/jsPDF/issues/476

How to access nested elements of json object using getJSONArray method

You can try this:

JSONObject result = new JSONObject("Your string here").getJSONObject("result");
JSONObject map = result.getJSONObject("map");
JSONArray entries= map.getJSONArray("entry");

I hope this helps.

file.delete() returns false even though file.exists(), file.canRead(), file.canWrite(), file.canExecute() all return true

As Jon Skeet commented, you should close your file in the finally {...} block, to ensure that it's always closed. And, instead of swallowing the exceptions with the e.printStackTrace, simply don't catch and add the exception to the method signature. If you can't for any reason, at least do this:

catch(IOException ex) {
    throw new RuntimeException("Error processing file XYZ", ex);
}

Now, question number #2:

What if you do this:

...
to.close();
System.out.println("Please delete the file and press <enter> afterwards!");
System.in.read();
...

Would you be able to delete the file?

Also, files are flushed when they're closed. I use IOUtils.closeQuietly(...), so I use the flush method to ensure that the contents of the file are there before I try to close it (IOUtils.closeQuietly doesn't throw exceptions). Something like this:

...
try {
    ...
    to.flush();
} catch(IOException ex) {
    throw new CannotProcessFileException("whatever", ex);
} finally {
    IOUtils.closeQuietly(to);
}

So I know that the contents of the file are in there. As it usually matters to me that the contents of the file are written and not if the file could be closed or not, it really doesn't matter if the file was closed or not. In your case, as it matters, I would recommend closing the file yourself and treating any exceptions according.

How to make Bootstrap carousel slider use mobile left/right swipe

I needed to add this functionality to a project I was working on recently and adding jQuery Mobile just to solve this problem seemed like overkill, so I came up with a solution and put it on github: bcSwipe (Bootstrap Carousel Swipe).

It's a lightweight jQuery plugin (~600 bytes minified vs jQuery Mobile touch events at 8kb), and it's been tested on Android and iOS.

This is how you use it:

$('.carousel').bcSwipe({ threshold: 50 });

Why does an onclick property set with setAttribute fail to work in IE?

Actually, as far as I know, dynamically created inline event-handlers DO work perfectly within Internet Explorer 8 when created with the x.setAttribute() command; you just have to position them properly within your JavaScript code. I stumbled across the solution to your problem (and mine) here.

When I moved all of my statements containing x.appendChild() to their correct positions (i.e., immediately following the last setAttribute command within their groups), I found that EVERY single setAttribute worked in IE8 as it was supposed to, including all form input attributes (including "name" and "type" attributes, as well as my "onclick" event-handlers).

I found this quite remarkable, since all I got in IE before I did this was garbage rendered across the screen, and one error after another. In addition, I found that every setAttribute still worked within the other browsers as well, so if you just remember this simple coding-practice, you'll be good to go in most cases.

However, this solution won't work if you have to change any attributes on the fly, since they cannot be changed in IE once their HTML element has been appended to the DOM; in this case, I would imagine that one would have to delete the element from the DOM, and then recreate it and its attributes (in the correct order, of course!) for them to work properly, and not throw any errors.

getting error HTTP Status 405 - HTTP method GET is not supported by this URL but not used `get` ever?

The problem is that you mapped your servlet to /register.html and it expects POST method, because you implemented only doPost() method. So when you open register.html page, it will not open html page with the form but servlet that handles the form data.

Alternatively when you submit POST form to non-existing URL, web container will display 405 error (method not allowed) instead of 404 (not found).

To fix:

No output to console from a WPF application?

You'll have to create a Console window manually before you actually call any Console.Write methods. That will init the Console to work properly without changing the project type (which for WPF application won't work).

Here's a complete source code example, of how a ConsoleManager class might look like, and how it can be used to enable/disable the Console, independently of the project type.

With the following class, you just need to write ConsoleManager.Show() somewhere before any call to Console.Write...

[SuppressUnmanagedCodeSecurity]
public static class ConsoleManager
{
    private const string Kernel32_DllName = "kernel32.dll";

may be you can specify where the buildfile is located and then invoke desired action.

Eg: ant -file {BuildfileLocation/build.xml} -v

How can I take a screenshot with Selenium WebDriver?

Python

webdriver.get_screenshot_as_file(filepath)

The above method will take a screenshot and also store it as a file in the location provided as a parameter.

get DATEDIFF excluding weekends using sql server

Example query below, here are some details on how I solved it.

Using DATEDIFF(WK, ...) will give us the number of weeks between the 2 dates. SQL Server evaluates this as a difference between week numbers rather than based on the number of days. This is perfect, since we can use this to determine how many weekends passed between the dates.

So we can multiple that value by 2 to get the number of weekend days that occurred and subtract that from the DATEDIFF(dd, ...) to get the number of weekdays.

This doesn't behave 100% correctly when the start or end date falls on Sunday, though. So I added in some case logic at the end of the calculation to handle those instances.

You may also want to consider whether or not the DATEDIFF should be fully inclusive. e.g. Is the difference between 9/10 and 9/11 1 day or 2 days? If the latter, you'll want to add 1 to the final product.

declare @d1 datetime, @d2 datetime
select @d1 = '9/9/2011',  @d2 = '9/18/2011'

select datediff(dd, @d1, @d2) - (datediff(wk, @d1, @d2) * 2) -
       case when datepart(dw, @d1) = 1 then 1 else 0 end +
      case when datepart(dw, @d2) = 1 then 1 else 0 end

Selecting the last value of a column

Is it acceptable to answer the original question with a strictly off topic answer:) You can write a formula in the spreadsheet to do this. Ugly perhaps? but effective in the normal operating of a spreadsheet.

=indirect("R"&ArrayFormula(max((G:G<>"")*row(G:G)))&"C"&7)

(G:G<>"") gives an array of true false values representing non-empty/empty cells
(G:G<>"")*row(G:G) gives an array of row numbers with zeros where cell is empty
max((G:G<>"")*row(G:G)) is the last non-empty cell in G

This is offered as a thought for a range of questions in the script area that could be delivered reliably with array formulas which have the advantage of often working in similar fashion in excel and openoffice.

html5 <input type="file" accept="image/*" capture="camera"> display as image rather than "choose file" button

You can trigger a file input element by sending it a Javascript click event, e.g.

<input type="file" ... id="file-input">

$("#file-input").click();

You could put this in a click event handler for the image, for instance, then hide the file input with CSS. It'll still work even if it's invisible.

Once you've got that part working, you can set a change event handler on the input element to see when the user puts a file into it. This event handler can create a temporary "blob" URL for the image by using window.URL.createObjectURL, e.g.:

var file = document.getElementById("file-input").files[0];
var blob_url = window.URL.createObjectURL(file);

That URL can be set as the src for an image on the page. (It only works on that page, though. Don't try to save it anywhere.)

Note that not all browsers currently support camera capture. (In fact, most desktop browsers don't.) Make sure your interface still makes sense if the user gets asked to pick a file.

Cannot find runtime 'node' on PATH - Visual Studio Code and Node.js

Had the same issue and in my case it was a problem with a vs code extension. Try running code as:

Once in the editor, I ran my program in the debug mode and worked, and then started code with

$ code

And it continued working fine.

Hope it works for you.

How to create text file and insert data to that file on Android

I'm using Kotlin here

Just adding the information in here, you can also create readable file outside Private Directory for the apps by doing this example

var teks="your teks"
var NamaFile="Text1.txt"
var strwrt:FileWriter
 strwrt=FileWriter(File("sdcard/${NamaFile}"))
            strwrt.write(teks)
            strwrt.close()

after that you can acces File Manager and look up on the Internal Storage. Text1.txt will be on there below all the folder.

Letsencrypt add domain to existing certificate

You can replace the certificate by just running the certbot again with ./certbot-auto certonly

You will be prompted with this message if you try to generate a certificate for a domain that you have already covered by an existing certificate:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have an existing certificate that contains a portion of the domains you
requested (ref: /etc/letsencrypt/renewal/<domain>.conf)

It contains these names: <domain>

You requested these names for the new certificate: <domain>,
<the domain you want to add to the cert>.

Do you want to expand and replace this existing certificate with the new
certificate?

How can I get the actual video URL of a YouTube live stream?

You need to get the HLS m3u8 playlist files from the video's manifest. There are ways to do this by hand, but for simplicity I'll be using the youtube-dl tool to get this information. I'll be using this live stream as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gtc-GtLlTk

Its because of the float of the div. Add overflow: hidden on the outside element.

    <div style="width:500px; height:200px; background-color:black; float:right">

Query to check index on a table

First you check your table id (aka object_id)

SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE type = 'U' ORDER BY name

then you can get the column's names. For example assuming you obtained from previous query the number 4 as object_id

SELECT c.name
FROM sys.index_columns ic
INNER JOIN sys.columns c ON  c.column_id = ic.column_id
WHERE ic.object_id = 4
AND c.object_id = 4

How to add System.Windows.Interactivity to project?

Although this issue is quite old, i think this is relevant news / the most recent answer: Microsoft open-sourced XAML Behaviours and posted a blog post how to update to this version: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/open-sourcing-xaml-behaviors-for-wpf/

To save you a click, this is the main steps to migrate:

  1. Remove reference to “Microsoft.Expression.Interactions” and “System.Windows.Interactivity”
  2. Install the Microsoft.Xaml.Behaviors.Wpf NuGet package.
  3. XAML files – replace the xmlns namespaces http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactivity and http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactions with http://schemas.microsoft.com/xaml/behaviors
  4. C# files – replace the usings in c# files “Microsoft.Xaml.Interactivity” and “Microsoft.Xaml.Interactions” with “Microsoft.Xaml.Behaviors”

How to Insert BOOL Value to MySQL Database

TRUE and FALSE are keywords, and should not be quoted as strings:

INSERT INTO first VALUES (NULL, 'G22', TRUE);
INSERT INTO first VALUES (NULL, 'G23', FALSE);

By quoting them as strings, MySQL will then cast them to their integer equivalent (since booleans are really just a one-byte INT in MySQL), which translates into zero for any non-numeric string. Thus, you get 0 for both values in your table.

Non-numeric strings cast to zero:

mysql> SELECT CAST('TRUE' AS SIGNED), CAST('FALSE' AS SIGNED), CAST('12345' AS SIGNED);
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+
| CAST('TRUE' AS SIGNED) | CAST('FALSE' AS SIGNED) | CAST('12345' AS SIGNED) |
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+
|                      0 |                       0 |                   12345 |
+------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------+

But the keywords return their corresponding INT representation:

mysql> SELECT TRUE, FALSE;
+------+-------+
| TRUE | FALSE |
+------+-------+
|    1 |     0 |
+------+-------+

Note also, that I have replaced your double-quotes with single quotes as are more standard SQL string enclosures. Finally, I have replaced your empty strings for id with NULL. The empty string may issue a warning.

Aggregate function in SQL WHERE-Clause

You can't use an aggregate directly in a WHERE clause; that's what HAVING clauses are for.

You can use a sub-query which contains an aggregate in the WHERE clause.

Python object.__repr__(self) should be an expression?

'repr' means represention. First,we create an instance of class coordinate.

x = Coordinate(3, 4)

Then if we input x into console,th output is

<__main__.Coordinate at 0x7fcd40ab27b8>

If you use repr():

>>> repr(x)
Coordinate(3, 4)

the output is as same as 'Coordinate(3, 4)',except it is a string.You can use it to recreate a instance of coordinate.

In conclusion,repr() meathod is print out a string,which is the representation of the obeject.

How to make a Qt Widget grow with the window size?

The accepted answer (its image) is wrong, at least now in QT5. Instead you should assign a layout to the root object/widget (pointing to the aforementioned image, it should be the MainWindow instead of centralWidget). Also note that you must have at least one QObject created beneath it for this to work. Do this and your ui will become responsive to window resizing.

To check whether a process/command returned 0 or not, use the operators && == 0 or not == 0 ||:

Just add operator to your script:

execute_command && (

       echo\Return 0, with no execution error
) || (
        echo\Return non 0, something went wrong
     )

command && echo\Return 0 || echo\Return non 0

Regex pattern for checking if a string starts with a certain substring?

The StartsWith method will be faster, as there is no overhead of interpreting a regular expression, but here is how you do it:

if (Regex.IsMatch(theString, "^(mailto|ftp|joe):")) ...

The ^ mathes the start of the string. You can put any protocols between the parentheses separated by | characters.

edit:

Another approach that is much faster, is to get the start of the string and use in a switch. The switch sets up a hash table with the strings, so it's faster than comparing all the strings:

int index = theString.IndexOf(':');
if (index != -1) {
  switch (theString.Substring(0, index)) {
    case "mailto":
    case "ftp":
    case "joe":
      // do something
      break;
  }
}

Append to string variable

var str1 = 'abc';
var str2 = str1+' def'; // str2 is now 'abc def'

How to return JSON with ASP.NET & jQuery

This structure works for me - I used it in a small tasks management application.

The controller:

public JsonResult taskCount(string fDate)
{
  // do some stuff based on the date

  // totalTasks is a count of the things I need to do today
  // tasksDone is a count of the tasks I actually did
  // pcDone is the percentage of tasks done

  return Json(new {
    totalTasks = totalTasks,
    tasksDone = tasksDone,
    percentDone = pcDone
  });
}

In the AJAX call I access the data like this:

.done(function (data) {
  // data.totalTasks
  // data.tasksDone
  // data.percentDone
});

How to uninstall Golang?

I just have to answer here after reading such super-basic advice in the other answers.

For MacOS the default paths are:

  1. /user/bracicot/go (working dir)
  2. /usr/local/go (install dir)

When uninstalling remove both directories.
If you've installed manually obviously these directories may be in other places.

One script I came across installed to /usr/local/.go/ a hidden folder because of permissioning... this could trip you up.

In terminal check:

echo $GOPATH
echo $GOROOT
#and
go version

For me after deleting all go folders I was still getting a go version.

Digging through my system path echo $PATH

/Users/bracicot/google-cloud-sdk/bin:/usr/local/bin:

revealed some places to check for still-existing go files such as /usr/local/bin

Another user mentioned: /etc/paths.d/go

You may also want to remove GOPATH and GOROOT environment variables.
Check .zshsrc and or .bash_profile.
Or you can unset GOPATH and unset GOROOT

How to allow users to check for the latest app version from inside the app?

Navigate to your play page:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yourpackage

Using a standard HTTP GET. Now the following jQuery finds important info for you:

Current Version

$("[itemprop='softwareVersion']").text()

What's new

$(".recent-change").each(function() { all += $(this).text() + "\n"; })

Now that you can extract these information manually, simply make a method in your app that executes this for you.

public static String[] getAppVersionInfo(String playUrl) {
    HtmlCleaner cleaner = new HtmlCleaner();
    CleanerProperties props = cleaner.getProperties();
    props.setAllowHtmlInsideAttributes(true);
    props.setAllowMultiWordAttributes(true);
    props.setRecognizeUnicodeChars(true);
    props.setOmitComments(true);
    try {
        URL url = new URL(playUrl);
        URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
        TagNode node = cleaner.clean(new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream()));
        Object[] new_nodes = node.evaluateXPath("//*[@class='recent-change']");
        Object[] version_nodes = node.evaluateXPath("//*[@itemprop='softwareVersion']");

        String version = "", whatsNew = "";
        for (Object new_node : new_nodes) {
            TagNode info_node = (TagNode) new_node;
            whatsNew += info_node.getAllChildren().get(0).toString().trim()
                    + "\n";
        }
        if (version_nodes.length > 0) {
            TagNode ver = (TagNode) version_nodes[0];
            version = ver.getAllChildren().get(0).toString().trim();
        }
        return new String[]{version, whatsNew};
    } catch (IOException | XPatherException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
        return null;
    }

C# Public Enums in Classes

Currently, your enum is nested inside of your Card class. All you have to do is move the definition of the enum out of the class:

// A better name which follows conventions instead of card_suits is
public enum CardSuit
{
    Clubs,
    Hearts,
    Spades,
    Diamonds
}

public class Card
{
}

To Specify:

The name change from card_suits to CardSuit was suggested because Microsoft guidelines suggest Pascal Case for Enumerations and the singular form is more descriptive in this case (as a plural would suggest that you're storing multiple enumeration values by ORing them together).

jQuery click function doesn't work after ajax call?

The problem is that .click only works for elements already on the page. You have to use something like on if you are wiring up future elements

$("#LangTable").on("click",".deletelanguage", function(){
  alert("success");
});

What is the maximum length of a String in PHP?

PHP's string length is limited by the way strings are represented in PHP; memory does not have anything to do with it.

According to phpinternalsbook.com, strings are stored in struct { char *val; int len; } and since the maximum size of an int in C is 4 bytes, this effectively limits the maximum string size to 2GB.

How do I check/uncheck all checkboxes with a button using jQuery?

Try this:

$('.checkAll').on('click', function(e) {
     $('.cb-element').prop('checked', $(e.target).prop('checked'));
});

e is the event generated when you do click, and e.target is the element clicked (.checkAll), so you only have to put the property checked of elements with class .cb-element like that of element with class .checkAll`.

MySql difference between two timestamps in days?

SELECT DATEDIFF(max_date, min_date) as days from my table. This works even if the col max_date and min_date are in string data types.

What does "select count(1) from table_name" on any database tables mean?

SELECT COUNT(1) from <table name>

should do the exact same thing as

SELECT COUNT(*)  from <table name>

There may have been or still be some reasons why it would perform better than SELECT COUNT(*)on some database, but I would consider that a bug in the DB.

SELECT COUNT(col_name) from <table name>

however has a different meaning, as it counts only the rows with a non-null value for the given column.

What is a .pid file and what does it contain?

To understand pid files, refer this DOC

Some times there are certain applications that require additional support of extra plugins and utilities. So it keeps track of these utilities and plugin process running ids using this pid file for reference.

That is why whenever you restart an application all necessary plugins and dependant apps must be restarted since the pid file will become stale.

Associating existing Eclipse project with existing SVN repository

I came across the same issue. I checked out using Tortoise client and then tried to import the projects in Eclipse using import wizard. Eclipse did not recognize the svn location. I tried share option as mentioned in the above posts and it tried to commit these projects into SVN. But my issue was a version mismatch. I selected svn 1.8 version in eclipse (I was using 1.7 in eclipse and 1.8.8 in tortoise) and then re imported the projects. It resolved with no issues.

How to scale an Image in ImageView to keep the aspect ratio

I use this:

<ImageView
android:id="@+id/logo"

android:scaleType="centerInside"
android:src="@drawable/logo" />

Invalid shorthand property initializer

Use : instead of =

see the example below that gives an error

app.post('/mews', (req, res) => {
if (isValidMew(req.body)) {
    // insert into db
    const mew = {
        name = filter.clean(req.body.name.toString()),
        content = filter.clean(req.body.content.toString()),
        created: new Date()
    };

That gives Syntex Error: invalid shorthand proprty initializer.

Then i replace = with : that's solve this error.

app.post('/mews', (req, res) => {
if (isValidMew(req.body)) {
    // insert into db
    const mew = {
        name: filter.clean(req.body.name.toString()),
        content: filter.clean(req.body.content.toString()),
        created: new Date()
    };

Execute command on all files in a directory

How to serialize Object to JSON?

You make the http request

HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httpget);
HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity();

inputStream = entity.getContent();

BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputStream, "UTF-8"), 8);
            StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();

You read the Buffer

String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null)
{
sb.append(line + "\n");
}
Log.d("Result", sb.toString());
result = sb.toString();

Create a JSONObject and pass the result string to the constructor:

JSONObject json = new JSONObject(result);

Parse the json results to your desired variables:

String usuario= json.getString("usuario");
int idperon = json.getInt("idperson");
String nombre = json.getString("nombre");

Do not forget to import:

import org.json.JSONObject;

Element implicitly has an 'any' type because expression of type 'string' can't be used to index

When we do something like this obj[key] Typescript can't know for sure if that key exists in that object. What I did:

Object.entries(data).forEach(item => {
    formData.append(item[0], item[1]);
});

Maximum number of rows in an MS Access database engine table?

We're not necessarily talking theoretical limits here, we're talking about real world limits of the 2GB max file size AND database schema.

  • Is your db a single table or multiple?
  • How many columns does each table have?
  • What are the datatypes?

The schema is on even footing with the row count in determining how many rows you can have.

We have used Access MDBs to store exports of MS-SQL data for statistical analysis by some of our corporate users. In those cases we've exported our core table structure, typically four tables with 20 to 150 columns varying from a hundred bytes per row to upwards of 8000 bytes per row. In these cases, we would bump up against a few hundred thousand rows of data were permissible PER MDB that we would ship them.

So, I just don't think that this question has an answer in absence of your schema.

Picking a random element from a set

With Guava we can do a little better than Khoth's answer:

  int index = random.nextInt(set.size();
  if (set instanceof ImmutableSet) {
    // ImmutableSet.asList() is O(1), as is .get() on the returned list
    return set.asList().get(index);
  }
  return Iterables.get(set, index);

How do I get a list of installed CPAN modules?

To walk through the @INC directory trees without using an external program like ls(1), one could use the File::Find::Rule module, which has a nice declarative interface.

Also, you want to filter out duplicates in case previous Perl versions contain the same modules. The code to do this looks like:

#! /usr/bin/perl -l

use strict;
use warnings;
use File::Find::Rule;

my %seen;
for my $path (@INC) {
    for my $file (File::Find::Rule->name('*.pm')->in($path)) {
        my $module = substr($file, length($path)+1);
        $module =~ s/.pm$//;
        $module =~ s{[\\/]}{::}g;
        print $module unless $seen{$module}++;
    }
}

At the end of the run, you also have all your module names as keys in the %seen hash. The code could be adapted to save the canonical filename (given in $file) as the value of the key instead of a count of times seen.

When do you use map vs flatMap in RxJava?

I just wanted to add that with flatMap, you don't really need to use your own custom Observable inside the function and you can rely on standard factory methods/operators:

Observable.from(jsonFile).flatMap(new Func1<File, Observable<String>>() {
    @Override public Observable<String> call(final File file) {
        try {
            String json = new Gson().toJson(new FileReader(file), Object.class);
            return Observable.just(json);
        } catch (FileNotFoundException ex) {
            return Observable.<String>error(ex);
        }
    }
});

Generally, you should avoid throwing (Runtime-) exceptions from onXXX methods and callbacks if possible, even though we placed as many safeguards as we could in RxJava.

What is web.xml file and what are all things can I do with it?

What is web.xml file and what all things can I do with it ?

The /WEB-INF/web.xml file is the Web Application Deployment Descriptor of your application. This file is an XML document that defines everything about your application that a server needs to know (except the context path, which is assigned by the Application Deployer and Administrator when the application is deployed): servlets and other components like filters or listeners, initialization parameters, container-managed security constraints, resources, welcome pages, etc.

Note that reference you mentioned is pretty old (Java EE 1.4), there have been few changes in Java EE 5 and even more in Java EE 6 (which makes the web.xml "optional" and introduces Web Fragments).

Is there any configuration parameter which should be avoided like plague?

No.

Any parameters related to performance or memory usage?

No, such things are not configured at the application level but at the container level.

Security related risk due to common mis-configuration ?

Well, if you want to use container-managed security constraints and fail at configuring them properly, resources won't obviously be properly protected. Apart from that, the biggest security risks come from the code you'll deploy IMO.

Android: How can I get the current foreground activity (from a service)?

It can be done by:

  1. Implement your own application class, register for ActivityLifecycleCallbacks - this way you can see what is going on with our app. On every on resume the callback assigns the current visible activity on the screen and on pause it removes the assignment. It uses method registerActivityLifecycleCallbacks() which was added in API 14.

    public class App extends Application {

    private Activity activeActivity;

    @Override
    public void onCreate() {
        super.onCreate();
        setupActivityListener();
    }

    private void setupActivityListener() {
    registerActivityLifecycleCallbacks(new ActivityLifecycleCallbacks() {
            @Override
            public void onActivityCreated(Activity activity, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivityStarted(Activity activity) {
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivityResumed(Activity activity) {
                activeActivity = activity;
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivityPaused(Activity activity) {
                activeActivity = null;
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivityStopped(Activity activity) {
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivitySaveInstanceState(Activity activity, Bundle outState) {
            }
            @Override
            public void onActivityDestroyed(Activity activity) {
            }
        });
    }

    public Activity getActiveActivity(){
        return activeActivity;
    }

    }

  2. In your service call getApplication() and cast it to your app class name (App in this case). Than you can call app.getActiveActivity() - that will give you a current visible Activity (or null when no activity is visible). You can get the name of the Activity by calling activeActivity.getClass().getSimpleName()

Access denied; you need (at least one of) the SUPER privilege(s) for this operation

When we create a new RDS DB instance, the default master user is not the root user. But only gets certain privileges for that DB instance. This permission does not include SET permission. Now if your default master user tries to execute mysql SET commands, then you will face this error: Access denied; you need (at least one of) the SUPER or SYSTEM_VARIABLES_ADMIN privilege(s) for this operation

Solution 1

Comment out or remove these lines

SET @MYSQLDUMP_TEMP_LOG_BIN = @@SESSION.SQL_LOG_BIN;
SET @@SESSION.SQL_LOG_BIN= 1;
SET @@GLOBAL.GTID_PURGED=/*!80000 '+'*/ '';

You can also ignore the errors by using the -f option to load the rest of the dump file.

mysql -f <REPLACE_DB_NAME> -u <REPLACE_DB_USER> -h <DB_HOST_HERE> -p < dumpfile.sql

Difference between partition key, composite key and clustering key in Cassandra?

Worth to note, you will probably use those lots more than in similar concepts in relational world (composite keys).

Example - suppose you have to find last N users who recently joined user group X. How would you do this efficiently given reads are predominant in this case? Like that (from offical Cassandra guide):

CREATE TABLE group_join_dates (
    groupname text,
    joined timeuuid,
    join_date text,
    username text,
    email text,
    age int,
    PRIMARY KEY ((groupname, join_date), joined)
) WITH CLUSTERING ORDER BY (joined DESC)

Here, partitioning key is compound itself and the clustering key is a joined date. The reason why a clustering key is a join date is that results are already sorted (and stored, which makes lookups fast). But why do we use a compound key for partitioning key? Because we always want to read as few partitions as possible. How putting join_date in there helps? Now users from the same group and the same join date will reside in a single partition! This means we will always read as few partitions as possible (first start with the newest, then move to older and so on, rather than jumping between them).

In fact, in extreme cases you would also need to use the hash of a join_date rather than a join_date alone - so that if you query for last 3 days often those share the same hash and therefore are available from same partition!

operator is used to extract properties of an object.

Regular expression to match a word or its prefix

Square brackets are meant for character class, and you're actually trying to match any one of: s, |, s (again), e, a, s (again), o and n.

Use parentheses instead for grouping:

(s|season)

or non-capturing group:

(?:s|season)

Note: Non-capture groups tell the engine that it doesn't need to store the match, while the other one (capturing group does). For small stuff, either works, for 'heavy duty' stuff, you might want to see first if you need the match or not. If you don't, better use the non-capture group to allocate more memory for calculation instead of storing something you will never need to use.

Default optional parameter in Swift function

You are conflating Optional with having a default. An Optional accepts either a value or nil. Having a default permits the argument to be omitted in calling the function. An argument can have a default value with or without being of Optional type.

func someFunc(param1: String?,
          param2: String = "default value",
          param3: String? = "also has default value") {
    print("param1 = \(param1)")

    print("param2 = \(param2)")

    print("param3 = \(param3)")
}

Example calls with output:

someFunc(param1: nil, param2: "specific value", param3: "also specific value")

param1 = nil
param2 = specific value
param3 = Optional("also specific value")

someFunc(param1: "has a value")

param1 = Optional("has a value")
param2 = default value
param3 = Optional("also has default value")

someFunc(param1: nil, param3: nil)

param1 = nil
param2 = default value
param3 = nil

To summarize:

  • Type with ? (e.g. String?) is an Optional may be nil or may contain an instance of Type
  • Argument with default value may be omitted from a call to function and the default value will be used
  • If both Optional and has default, then it may be omitted from function call OR may be included and can be provided with a nil value (e.g. param1: nil)

Difference between DOMContentLoaded and load events

The DOMContentLoaded event will fire as soon as the DOM hierarchy has been fully constructed, the load event will do it when all the images and sub-frames have finished loading.

DOMContentLoaded will work on most modern browsers, but not on IE including IE9 and above. There are some workarounds to mimic this event on older versions of IE, like the used on the jQuery library, they attach the IE specific onreadystatechange event.

Count the number of occurrences of a character in a string in Javascript

Here is my solution. Lots of solution already posted before me. But I love to share my view here.

const mainStr = 'str1,str2,str3,str4';

const commaAndStringCounter = (str) => {
  const commas = [...str].filter(letter => letter === ',').length;
  const numOfStr = str.split(',').length;

  return `Commas: ${commas}, String: ${numOfStr}`;
}

// Run the code
console.log(commaAndStringCounter(mainStr)); // Output: Commas: 3, String: 4

How to update std::map after using the find method?

I would use the operator[].

map <char, int> m1;

m1['G'] ++; // If the element 'G' does not exist then it is created and
             // initialized to zero. A reference to the internal value
             // is returned. so that the ++ operator can be applied.

// If 'G' did not exist it now exist and is 1.
// If 'G' had a value of 'n' it now has a value of 'n+1'

So using this technique it becomes really easy to read all the character from a stream and count them:

map <char, int>                m1;
std::ifstream                  file("Plop");
std::istreambuf_iterator<char> end;

for(std::istreambuf_iterator<char> loop(file); loop != end; ++loop)
{
    ++m1[*loop]; // prefer prefix increment out of habbit
}

Keep placeholder text in UITextField on input in IOS

Instead of using the placeholder text, you'll want to set the actual text property of the field to MM/YYYY, set the delegate of the text field and listen for this method:

- (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string {     // update the text of the label }

Inside that method, you can figure out what the user has typed as they type, which will allow you to update the label accordingly.

registerForRemoteNotificationTypes: is not supported in iOS 8.0 and later

iOS 8 has changed notification registration in a non-backwards compatible way. While you need to support iOS 7 and 8 (and while apps built with the 8 SDK aren't accepted), you can check for the selectors you need and conditionally call them correctly for the running version.

Here's a category on UIApplication that will hide this logic behind a clean interface for you that will work in both Xcode 5 and Xcode 6.

Header:

//Call these from your application code for both iOS 7 and 8
//put this in the public header
@interface UIApplication (RemoteNotifications)

- (BOOL)pushNotificationsEnabled;
- (void)registerForPushNotifications;

@end

Implementation:

//these declarations are to quiet the compiler when using 7.x SDK
//put this interface in the implementation file of this category, so they are
//not visible to any other code.
@interface NSObject (IOS8)

- (BOOL)isRegisteredForRemoteNotifications;
- (void)registerForRemoteNotifications;

+ (id)settingsForTypes:(NSUInteger)types categories:(NSSet*)categories;
- (void)registerUserNotificationSettings:(id)settings;

@end

@implementation UIApplication (RemoteNotifications)

- (BOOL)pushNotificationsEnabled

        Class uiUserNotificationSettings = NSClassFromString(@"UIUserNotificationSettings");

        //If you want to add other capabilities than just banner alerts, you'll need to grab their declarations from the iOS 8 SDK and define them in the same way.
        NSUInteger UIUserNotificationTypeAlert   = 1 << 2;

        id settings = [uiUserNotificationSettings settingsForTypes:UIUserNotificationTypeAlert categories:[NSSet set]];

Get Root Directory Path of a PHP project

You could also use realpath.

realpath(".") returns your document root.

You can call realpath with your specific path. Note that it will NOT work if the target folder or file does not exist. In such case it will return false, which could be useful for testing if a file exists.

In my case I needed to specify a path for a new file to be written to disk, and the solution was to append the path relative to document root:

$filepath = realpath(".") . "/path/to/newfile.txt";

Hope this helps anyone.

JPA Criteria API - How to add JOIN clause (as general sentence as possible)

Maybe the following extract from the Chapter 23 - Using the Criteria API to Create Queries of the Java EE 6 tutorial will throw some light (actually, I suggest reading the whole Chapter 23):

Querying Relationships Using Joins

For queries that navigate to related entity classes, the query must define a join to the related entity by calling one of the From.join methods on the query root object, or another join object. The join methods are similar to the JOIN keyword in JPQL.

The target of the join uses the Metamodel class of type EntityType<T> to specify the persistent field or property of the joined entity.

The join methods return an object of type Join<X, Y>, where X is the source entity and Y is the target of the join.

Example 23-10 Joining a Query

CriteriaQuery<Pet> cq = cb.createQuery(Pet.class);
Metamodel m = em.getMetamodel();
EntityType<Pet> Pet_ = m.entity(Pet.class);

Root<Pet> pet = cq.from(Pet.class);
Join<Pet, Owner> owner = pet.join(Pet_.owners);

Joins can be chained together to navigate to related entities of the target entity without having to create a Join<X, Y> instance for each join.

Example 23-11 Chaining Joins Together in a Query

CriteriaQuery<Pet> cq = cb.createQuery(Pet.class);
Metamodel m = em.getMetamodel();
EntityType<Pet> Pet_ = m.entity(Pet.class);
EntityType<Owner> Owner_ = m.entity(Owner.class);

Root<Pet> pet = cq.from(Pet.class);
Join<Owner, Address> address = cq.join(Pet_.owners).join(Owner_.addresses);

That being said, I have some additional remarks:

First, the following line in your code:

Root entity_ = cq.from(this.baseClass);

Makes me think that you somehow missed the Static Metamodel Classes part. Metamodel classes such as Pet_ in the quoted example are used to describe the meta information of a persistent class. They are typically generated using an annotation processor (canonical metamodel classes) or can be written by the developer (non-canonical metamodel). But your syntax looks weird, I think you are trying to mimic something that you missed.

Second, I really think you should forget this assay_id foreign key, you're on the wrong path here. You really need to start to think object and association, not tables and columns.

Third, I'm not really sure to understand what you mean exactly by adding a JOIN clause as generical as possible and what your object model looks like, since you didn't provide it (see previous point). It's thus just impossible to answer your question more precisely.

To sum up, I think you need to read a bit more about JPA 2.0 Criteria and Metamodel API and I warmly recommend the resources below as a starting point.

Git Clone: Just the files, please?

The git command that would be the closest from what you are looking for would by git archive.
See backing up project which uses git: it will include in an archive all files (including submodules if you are using the git-archive-all script)

You can then use that archive anywhere, giving you back only files, no .git directory.

git archive --remote=<repository URL> | tar -t

If you need folders and files just from the first level:

git archive --remote=<repository URL> | tar -t --exclude="*/*"

To list only first-level folders of a remote repo:

git archive --remote=<repository URL> | tar -t --exclude="*/*" | grep "/"

Note: that does not work for GitHub (not supported)

So you would need to clone (shallow to quicken the clone step), and then archive locally:

git clone --depth=1 [email protected]:xxx/yyy.git
cd yyy
git archive --format=tar aTag -o aTag.tar

Another option would be to do a shallow clone (as mentioned below), but locating the .git folder elsewhere.

git --git-dir=/path/to/another/folder.git clone --depth=1 /url/to/repo

The repo folder would include only the file, without .git.

Note: git --git-dir is an option of the command git, not git clone.

Update with Git 2.14.X/2.15 (Q4 2017): it will make sure to avoid adding empty folders.

"git archive", especially when used with pathspec, stored an empty directory in its output, even though Git itself never does so.
This has been fixed.

See commit 4318094 (12 Sep 2017) by René Scharfe (``).
Suggested-by: Jeff King (peff).
(Merged by Junio C Hamano -- gitster -- in commit 62b1cb7, 25 Sep 2017)

archive: don't add empty directories to archives

While git doesn't track empty directories, git archive can be tricked into putting some into archives.
While that is supported by the object database, it can't be represented in the index and thus it's unlikely to occur in the wild.

As empty directories are not supported by git, they should also not be written into archives.
If an empty directory is really needed then it can be tracked and archived by placing an empty .gitignore file in it.

If you are using numpy, the closest, I can think of is using a mask

>>> import numpy as np
>>> arr = np.arange(1,10)
>>> mask = np.ones(arr.shape,dtype=bool)
>>> mask[5]=0
>>> arr[mask]
array([1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9])

Something similar can be achieved using itertools without numpy

>>> from itertools import compress
>>> arr = range(1,10)
>>> mask = [1]*len(arr)
>>> mask[5]=0
>>> list(compress(arr,mask))
[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9]

What is a software framework?

The summary at Wikipedia (Software Framework) (first google hit btw) explains it quite well:

A software framework, in computer programming, is an abstraction in which common code providing generic functionality can be selectively overridden or specialized by user code providing specific functionality. Frameworks are a special case of software libraries in that they are reusable abstractions of code wrapped in a well-defined Application programming interface (API), yet they contain some key distinguishing features that separate them from normal libraries.

Software frameworks have these distinguishing features that separate them from libraries or normal user applications:

  1. inversion of control - In a framework, unlike in libraries or normal user applications, the overall program's flow of control is not dictated by the caller, but by the framework.[1]
  2. default behavior - A framework has a default behavior. This default behavior must actually be some useful behavior and not a series of no-ops.
  3. extensibility - A framework can be extended by the user usually by selective overriding or specialized by user code providing specific functionality.
  4. non-modifiable framework code - The framework code, in general, is not allowed to be modified. Users can extend the framework, but not modify its code.

You may "need" it because it may provide you with a great shortcut when developing applications, since it contains lots of already written and tested functionality. The reason is quite similar to the reason we use software libraries.

SVN (Subversion) Problem "File is scheduled for addition, but is missing" - Using Versions

I'm not sure what you're trying to do: If you added the file via

svn add myfile

you only told svn to put this file into your repository when you do your next commit. There's no change to the repository before you type an

svn commit

If you delete the file before the commit, svn has it in its records (because you added it) but cannot send it to the repository because the file no longer exist.

So either you want to save the file in the repository and then delete it from your working copy: In this case try to get your file back (from the trash?), do the commit and delete the file afterwards via

svn delete myfile
svn commit

If you want to undo the add and just throw the file away, you can to an

svn revert myfile

which tells svn (in this case) to undo the add-Operation.

EDIT

Sorry, I wasn't aware that you're using the "Versions" GUI client for Max OSX. So either try a revert on the containing directory using the GUI or jump into the cold water and fire up your hidden Mac command shell :-) (it's called "Terminal" in the german OSX, no idea how to bring it up in the english version...)

Why can't Python parse this JSON data?

Justin Peel's answer is really helpful, but if you are using Python 3 reading JSON should be done like this:

with open('data.json', encoding='utf-8') as data_file:
    data = json.loads(data_file.read())

Note: use json.loads instead of json.load. In Python 3, json.loads takes a string parameter. json.load takes a file-like object parameter. data_file.read() returns a string object.

To be honest, I don't think it's a problem to load all json data into memory in most cases. I see this in JS, Java, Kotlin, cpp, rust almost every language I use. Consider memory issue like a joke to me :)

On the other hand, I don't think you can parse json without reading all of it.
