java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

1.- Yes, but it pretty much refers to the whole memory used by your program.

2.- Yes see Java VM options

-Xms<size> set initial Java heap size
-Xmx<size> set maximum Java heap size

Ie

java -Xmx2g assign 2 gigabytes of ram as maximum to your app

But you should see if you don't have a memory leak first.

3.- It depends on the program. Try spot memory leaks. This question would be to hard to answer. Lately you can profile using JConsole to try to find out where your memory is going to

CSS div 100% height

I have another suggestion. When you want myDiv to have a height of 100%, use these extra 3 attributes on your div:

myDiv {
    min-height: 100%;
    overflow-y: hidden;
    position: relative;
}

That should do the job!

How do I programmatically click a link with javascript?

For me, I managed to make it work that way. I deployed the automatic click in 5000 milliseconds and then closed the loop after 1000 milliseconds. Then there was only 1 automatic click.

<script> var myVar = setInterval(function ({document.getElementById("test").click();}, 500)); setInterval(function () {clearInterval(myVar)}, 1000));</script>

The project description file (.project) for my project is missing

I had the same problem and in my case .project file was also present in the project directory and had correct permissions.

This problem happened to me after I closed and reopened multiple projects quickly one after another and Eclipse tried to rebuild them at the same time.

In my case Eclipse lost .location file in the workspace directory for 2 out of 5 projects: <workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/<project name>/.location

I've followed instructions on How to get project list if delete .metadata accidentally and imported the project in the workspace manually via File :: Import :: Other :: General :: Existing Projects. After that .location file was created again and Eclipse stopped complaining.

How to remove focus without setting focus to another control?

  1. You can use View.clearFocus().

  2. Use View.requestFocus() called from onResume().

let index = arrayObject.map((item) => item.name).indexOf("name1");
if (index > -1) {

  arrayObject.splice(index, 1);
  console.log("Result", arrayObject);

How to set div width using ng-style

The syntax of ng-style is not quite that. It accepts a dictionary of keys (attribute names) and values (the value they should take, an empty string unsets them) rather than only a string. I think what you want is this:

<div ng-style="{ 'width' : width, 'background' : bgColor }"></div>

And then in your controller:

$scope.width = '900px';
$scope.bgColor = 'red';

This preserves the separation of template and the controller: the controller holds the semantic values while the template maps them to the correct attribute name.

Adding a newline character within a cell (CSV)

This question was answered well at Can you encode CR/LF in into CSV files?.

Consider also reverse engineering multiple lines in Excel. To embed a newline in an Excel cell, press Alt+Enter. Then save the file as a .csv. You'll see that the double-quotes start on one line and each new line in the file is considered an embedded newline in the cell.

Dynamically access object property using variable

It gets interesting when you have to pass parameters to this function as well.

Code jsfiddle

var obj = {method:function(p1,p2,p3){console.log("method:",arguments)}}

var str = "method('p1', 'p2', 'p3');"

var match = str.match(/^\s*(\S+)\((.*)\);\s*$/);

var func = match[1]
var parameters = match[2].split(',');
for(var i = 0; i < parameters.length; ++i) {
  // clean up param begninning
    parameters[i] = parameters[i].replace(/^\s*['"]?/,'');
  // clean up param end
  parameters[i] = parameters[i].replace(/['"]?\s*$/,'');
}

obj[func](parameters); // sends parameters as array
obj[func].apply(this, parameters); // sends parameters as individual values

Check whether a string is not null and not empty

Just adding Android in here:

import android.text.TextUtils;

if (!TextUtils.isEmpty(str)) {
...
}

How can I set a website image that will show as preview on Facebook?

Note also that if you have wordpress just scroll down to the bottom of the webpage when in edit mode, and select "featured image" (bottom right side of screen).

Run jQuery function onclick

Using obtrusive JavaScript (i.e. inline code) as in your example, you can attach the click event handler to the div element with the onclick attribute like so:

 <div id="some-id" class="some-class" onclick="slideonlyone('sms_box');">
     ...
 </div>

However, the best practice is unobtrusive JavaScript which you can easily achieve by using jQuery's on() method or its shorthand click(). For example:

 $(document).ready( function() {
     $('.some-class').on('click', slideonlyone('sms_box'));
     // OR //
     $('.some-class').click(slideonlyone('sms_box'));
 });

Inside your handler function (e.g. slideonlyone() in this case) you can reference the element that triggered the event (e.g. the div in this case) with the $(this) object. For example, if you need its ID, you can access it with $(this).attr('id').

EDIT

After reading your comment to @fmsf below, I see you also need to dynamically reference the target element to be toggled. As @fmsf suggests, you can add this information to the div with a data-attribute like so:

<div id="some-id" class="some-class" data-target="sms_box">
    ...
</div>

To access the element's data-attribute you can use the attr() method as in @fmsf's example, but the best practice is to use jQuery's data() method like so:

 function slideonlyone() {
     var trigger_id = $(this).attr('id'); // This would be 'some-id' in our example
     var target_id  = $(this).data('target'); // This would be 'sms_box'
     ...
 }

Note how data-target is accessed with data('target'), without the data- prefix. Using data-attributes you can attach all sorts of information to an element and jQuery would automatically add them to the element's data object.

Retrieve specific commit from a remote Git repository

You can simply fetch a single commit of a remote repo with

git fetch <repo> <commit>

where,

  • <repo> can be a remote repo name (e.g. origin) or even a remote repo URL (e.g. https://git.foo.com/myrepo.git)
  • <commit> can be the SHA1 commit

for example

git fetch https://git.foo.com/myrepo.git 0a071603d87e0b89738599c160583a19a6d95545

after you fetched the commit (and the missing ancestors) you can simply checkout it with

git checkout FETCH_HEAD

Note that this will bring you in the "detached head" state.

What does the exclamation mark do before the function?

There is a good point for using ! for function invocation marked on airbnb JavaScript guide

Generally idea for using this technique on separate files (aka modules) which later get concatenated. The caveat here is that files supposed to be concatenated by tools which put the new file at the new line (which is anyway common behavior for most of concat tools). In that case, using ! will help to avoid error in if previously concatenated module missed trailing semicolon, and yet that will give the flexibility to put them in any order with no worry.

!function abc(){}();
!function bca(){}();

Will work the same as

!function abc(){}();
(function bca(){})();

but saves one character and arbitrary looks better.

And by the way any of +,-,~,void operators have the same effect, in terms of invoking the function, for sure if you have to use something to return from that function they would act differently.

abcval = !function abc(){return true;}() // abcval equals false
bcaval = +function bca(){return true;}() // bcaval equals 1
zyxval = -function zyx(){return true;}() // zyxval equals -1
xyzval = ~function xyz(){return true;}() // your guess?

but if you using IIFE patterns for one file one module code separation and using concat tool for optimization (which makes one line one file job), then construction

!function abc(/*no returns*/) {}()
+function bca() {/*no returns*/}()

Will do safe code execution, same as a very first code sample.

This one will throw error cause JavaScript ASI will not be able to do its work.

!function abc(/*no returns*/) {}()
(function bca() {/*no returns*/})()

One note regarding unary operators, they would do similar work, but only in case, they used not in the first module. So they are not so safe if you do not have total control over the concatenation order.

This works:

!function abc(/*no returns*/) {}()
^function bca() {/*no returns*/}()

This not:

^function abc(/*no returns*/) {}()
!function bca() {/*no returns*/}()

How can I make sticky headers in RecyclerView? (Without external lib)

You can check and take the implementation of the class StickyHeaderHelper in my FlexibleAdapter project, and adapt it to your use case.

But, I suggest to use the library since it simplifies and reorganizes the way you usually implement the Adapters for RecyclerView: Don't reinvent the wheel.

I would also say, don't use Decorators or deprecated libraries, as well as don't use libraries that do only 1 or 3 things, you will have to merge implementations of others libraries yourself.

How can I implement the Iterable interface?

Iterable is a generic interface. A problem you might be having (you haven't actually said what problem you're having, if any) is that if you use a generic interface/class without specifying the type argument(s) you can erase the types of unrelated generic types within the class. An example of this is in Non-generic reference to generic class results in non-generic return types.

So I would at least change it to:

public class ProfileCollection implements Iterable<Profile> {
    private ArrayList<Profile> m_Profiles;

    public Iterator<Profile> iterator() {
        Iterator<Profile> iprof = m_Profiles.iterator();
        return iprof;
    }

    ...

    public Profile GetActiveProfile() {
        return (Profile)m_Profiles.get(m_ActiveProfile);
    }
}

and this should work:

for (Profile profile : m_PC) {
    // do stuff
}

Without the type argument on Iterable, the iterator may be reduced to being type Object so only this will work:

for (Object profile : m_PC) {
    // do stuff
}

This is a pretty obscure corner case of Java generics.

If not, please provide some more info about what's going on.

Javascript, Time and Date: Getting the current minute, hour, day, week, month, year of a given millisecond time

Additionally, how do I retrieve the number of days of a given month?

Aside from calculating it yourself (and consequently having to get leap years right), you can use a Date calculation to do it:

var y= 2010, m= 11;            // December 2010 - trap: months are 0-based in JS

var next= Date.UTC(y, m+1); // timestamp of beginning of following month
var end= new Date(next-1); // date for last second of this month
var lastday= end.getUTCDate(); // 31

In general for timestamp/date calculations I'd recommend using the UTC-based methods of Date, like getUTCSeconds instead of getSeconds(), and Date.UTC to get a timestamp from a UTC date, rather than new Date(y, m), so you don't have to worry about the possibility of weird time discontinuities where timezone rules change.

Save and load weights in keras

For loading weights, you need to have a model first. It must be:

existingModel.save_weights('weightsfile.h5')
existingModel.load_weights('weightsfile.h5')

If you want to save and load the entire model (this includes the model's configuration, it's weights and the optimizer states for further training):

model.save_model('filename')
model = load_model('filename')

Excel is not updating cells, options > formula > workbook calculation set to automatic

On Excel 2016, using Alt+Ctrl+F9 work well.

This combination call Application.CalculateFull() VBA Excel function.

This can be time consuming if other Excel files are loaded because all Excel sheets of all opened workbooks will be calculated again!

I have searched a function to calculate a specific sheet but I don't have found something!

MySQL: Selecting multiple fields into multiple variables in a stored procedure

==========Advise==========

@martin clayton Answer is correct, But this is an advise only.

Please avoid the use of ambiguous variable in the stored procedure.

Example :

SELECT Id, dateCreated
INTO id, datecreated
FROM products
WHERE pName = iName

The above example will cause an error (null value error)

Example give below is correct. I hope this make sense.

Example :

SELECT Id, dateCreated
INTO val_id, val_datecreated
FROM products
WHERE pName = iName

You can also make them unambiguous by referencing the table, like:

[ Credit : maganap ]

SELECT p.Id, p.dateCreated INTO id, datecreated FROM products p
WHERE pName = iName

I want to compare two lists in different worksheets in Excel to locate any duplicates

Without VBA...

If you can use a helper column, you can use the MATCH function to test if a value in one column exists in another column (or in another column on another worksheet). It will return an Error if there is no match

To simply identify duplicates, use a helper column

Assume data in Sheet1, Column A, and another list in Sheet2, Column A. In your helper column, row 1, place the following formula:

=If(IsError(Match(A1, 'Sheet2'!A:A,False)),"","Duplicate")

Drag/copy this forumla down, and it should identify the duplicates.

To highlight cells, use conditional formatting:

With some tinkering, you can use this MATCH function in a Conditional Formatting rule which would highlight duplicate values. I would probably do this instead of using a helper column, although the helper column is a great way to "see" results before you make the conditional formatting rule.

Something like:

=NOT(ISERROR(MATCH(A1, 'Sheet2'!A:A,FALSE)))

Conditional formatting for Excel 2010

For Excel 2007 and prior, you cannot use conditional formatting rules that reference other worksheets. In this case, use the helper column and set your formatting rule in column A like:

=B1="Duplicate"

This screenshot is from the 2010 UI, but the same rule should work in 2007/2003 Excel.

Conditional formatting using helper column for rule

Input Type image submit form value?

I've found that image-buttons DO return a response, but you should NOT use a value-option. What I see returned are two version of the name="MYNAME" with .X and .Y endings.

For example:

<input type="image" src="/path-to/stop.png" name="STOP" width="25" height="25" align="top" alt="Stop sign">

This is within your <form> to </form>. If you click the image, what's returned are STOP.X and STOP.Y with numeric values. The existence of either indicates the STOP image-button was clicked. You don't need any special code. Just treat it as another kind of "submit" button that returns a pair of augmented NAMEs.

I've tried this on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. The image wasn't displayed with Safari, but where it was supposed to be located, my cursor turned into a finger-icon, and I could click it.

LINQ: When to use SingleOrDefault vs. FirstOrDefault() with filtering criteria

In my opinion FirstOrDefault is being overused a lot. In the majority of the cases when you’re filtering data you would either expect to get back a collection of elements matching the logical condition or a single unique element by its unique identifier – such as a user, book, post etc... That’s why we can even get as far as saying that FirstOrDefault() is a code smell not because there is something wrong with it but because it’s being used way too often. This blog post explores the topic in details. IMO most of the times SingleOrDefault() is a much better alternative so watch out for this mistake and make sure you use the most appropriate method that clearly represents your contract and expectations.

The accepted answer uses REGEX and you cannot create an alias command with REGEX, you have to put it into a shell script, I'm using Amazon Linux 2 and did the following:

  1. I put the accepted answer code into a file using :

    sudo vim find.sh

add this code:

find ./ -type f | perl -ne 'print $1 if m/\.([^.\/]+)$/' | sort -u

save the file by typing: :wq!

  1. sudo vim ~/.bash_profile

  2. alias getext=". /path/to/your/find.sh"

  3. :wq!

  4. . ~/.bash_profile

Is it still valid to use IE=edge,chrome=1?

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1" /> serves two purposes.

  1. IE=edge: specifies that IE should run in the highest mode available to that version of IE as opposed to a compatability mode; IE8 can support up to IE8 modes, IE9 can support up to IE9 modes, and so on.
  2. chrome=1: specifies that Google Chrome frame should start if the user has it installed

The IE=edge flag is still relevant for IE versions 10 and below. IE11 sets this mode as the default.

As for the chrome flag, you can leave it if your users still use Chrome Frame. Despite support and updates for Chrome Frame ending, one can still install and use the final release. If you remove the flag, Chrome Frame will not be activated when installed. For other users, chrome=1 will do nothing more than consume a few bytes of bandwidth.

I recommend you analyze your audience and see if their browsers prohibit any needed features and then decide. Perhaps it might be better to encourage them to use a more modern, evergreen browser.

Note, the W3C validator will flag chrome=1 as an error:

Error: A meta element with an http-equiv attribute whose value is
X-UA-Compatible must have a content attribute with the value IE=edge.

Run a php app using tomcat?

A tad late, but here goes.

How about http://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/UsingPhp if you just want to run the real php on tomcat.

Concerning running tomcat on port 80 there's always jsvc, just google jsvc + tomcat.

How to replace NA values in a table for selected columns

This is now trivial in tidyr with replace_na(). The function appears to work for data.tables as well as data.frames:

Npm install failed with "cannot run in wd"

I have experienced the same problem when trying to publish my nodejs app in a private server running CentOs using root user. The same error is fired by "postinstall": "./node_modules/bower/bin/bower install" in my package.json file so the only solution that was working for me is to use both options to avoid the error:

1: use --allow-root option for bower install command

"postinstall": "./node_modules/bower/bin/bower --allow-root install"

2: use --unsafe-perm option for npm install command

npm install --unsafe-perm

Compare two files report difference in python

You can add an conditional statement. If your array goes beyond index, then break and print the rest of the file.

Switch statement: must default be the last case?

The default condition can be anyplace within the switch that a case clause can exist. It is not required to be the last clause. I have seen code that put the default as the first clause. The case 2: gets executed normally, even though the default clause is above it.

As a test, I put the sample code in a function, called test(int value){} and ran:

  printf("0=%d\n", test(0));
  printf("1=%d\n", test(1));
  printf("2=%d\n", test(2));
  printf("3=%d\n", test(3));
  printf("4=%d\n", test(4));

The output is:

0=2
1=1
2=4
3=8
4=10

Mail multipart/alternative vs multipart/mixed

I hit this challenge today and I found these answers useful but not quite explicit enough for me.

Edit: Just found the Apache Commons Email that wraps this up nicely, meaning you don't need to know below.

If your requirement is an email with:

  1. text and html versions
  2. html version has embedded (inline) images
  3. attachments

The only structure I found that works with Gmail/Outlook/iPad is:

  • mixed
    • alternative
      • text
      • related
        • html
        • inline image
        • inline image
    • attachment
    • attachment

And the code is:

Dialog to pick image from gallery or from camera

The code below can be used for taking a photo and for picking a photo. Just show a dialog with two options and upon selection, use the appropriate code.

To take picture from camera:

Intent takePicture = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE);
startActivityForResult(takePicture, 0);//zero can be replaced with any action code (called requestCode)

To pick photo from gallery:

Intent pickPhoto = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,
           android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI);
startActivityForResult(pickPhoto , 1);//one can be replaced with any action code

onActivityResult code:

protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent imageReturnedIntent) {
    super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, imageReturnedIntent);
    switch(requestCode) {
    case 0:
        if(resultCode == RESULT_OK){

Non-conformable arrays error in code

The problem is that omega in your case is matrix of dimensions 1 * 1. You should convert it to a vector if you wish to multiply t(X) %*% X by a scalar (that is omega)

In particular, you'll have to replace this line:

omega   = rgamma(1,a0,1) / L0

with:

omega   = as.vector(rgamma(1,a0,1) / L0)

everywhere in your code. It happens in two places (once inside the loop and once outside). You can substitute as.vector(.) or c(t(.)). Both are equivalent.

Here's the modified code that should work:

gibbs = function(data, m01 = 0, m02 = 0, k01 = 0.1, k02 = 0.1,
                     a0 = 0.1, L0 = 0.1, nburn = 0, ndraw = 5000) {
    m0      = c(m01, m02)
    C0      = matrix(nrow = 2, ncol = 2)
    C0[1,1] = 1 / k01
    C0[1,2] = 0
    C0[2,1] = 0
    C0[2,2] = 1 / k02
    beta    = mvrnorm(1,m0,C0)
    omega   = as.vector(rgamma(1,a0,1) / L0)
    draws   = matrix(ncol = 3,nrow = ndraw)
    it      = -nburn

    while (it < ndraw) {
        it    = it + 1
        C1    = solve(solve(C0) + omega * t(X) %*% X)
        m1    = C1 %*% (solve(C0) %*% m0 + omega * t(X) %*% y)
        beta  = mvrnorm(1, m1, C1)
        a1    = a0 + n / 2
        L1    = L0 + t(y - X %*% beta) %*% (y - X %*% beta) / 2
        omega = as.vector(rgamma(1, a1, 1) / L1)
        if (it > 0) {
            draws[it,1] = beta[1]
            draws[it,2] = beta[2]
            draws[it,3] = omega
        }
    }

How do I specify different Layouts in the ASP.NET MVC 3 razor ViewStart file?

You could put a _ViewStart.cshtml file inside the /Views/Public folder which would override the default one in the /Views folder and specify the desired layout:

@{
    Layout = "~/Views/Shared/_PublicLayout.cshtml";
}

By analogy you could put another _ViewStart.cshtml file inside the /Views/Staff folder with:

@{
    Layout = "~/Views/Shared/_StaffLayout.cshtml";
}

You could also specify which layout should be used when returning a view inside a controller action but that's per action:

return View("Index", "~/Views/Shared/_StaffLayout.cshtml", someViewModel);

Yet another possibility is a custom action filter which would override the layout. As you can see many possibilities to achieve this. Up to you to choose which one fits best in your scenario.

UPDATE:

As requested in the comments section here's an example of an action filter which would choose a master page:

public class LayoutInjecterAttribute : ActionFilterAttribute
{
    private readonly string _masterName;
    public LayoutInjecterAttribute(string masterName)
    {
        _masterName = masterName;
    }

    public override void OnActionExecuted(ActionExecutedContext filterContext)
    {
        base.OnActionExecuted(filterContext);
        var result = filterContext.Result as ViewResult;
        if (result != null)
        {
            result.MasterName = _masterName;
        }
    }
}

and then decorate a controller or an action with this custom attribute specifying the layout you want:

[LayoutInjecter("_PublicLayout")]
public ActionResult Index()
{
    return View();
}

How to prevent gcc optimizing some statements in C?

Instead of using the new pragmas, you can also use __attribute__((optimize("O0"))) for your needs. This has the advantage of just applying to a single function and not all functions defined in the same file.

Usage example:

void __attribute__((optimize("O0"))) foo(unsigned char data) {
    // unmodifiable compiler code
}

Is it possible to write to the console in colour in .NET?

I've created a small plugin (available on NuGet) that allows you to add any (if supported by your terminal) color to your console output, without the limitations of the classic solutions.

It works by extending the String object and the syntax is very simple:

"colorize me".Pastel("#1E90FF");

Both foreground and background colors are supported.

Get keys of a Typescript interface as array of strings

As of TypeScript 2.3 (or should I say 2.4, as in 2.3 this feature contains a bug which has been fixed in [email protected]), you can create a custom transformer to achieve what you want to do.

Actually, I have already created such a custom transformer, which enables the following.

import { keys } from 'ts-transformer-keys';

  id: string;
  name: string;
  age: number;
}
const keysOfProps = keys<Props>();

console.log(keysOfProps); // ['id', 'name', 'age']

Unfortunately, custom transformers are currently not so easy to use. You have to use them with the TypeScript transformation API instead of executing tsc command. There is an issue requesting a plugin support for custom transformers.

.prop('checked',false) or .removeAttr('checked')?

I recommend to use both, prop and attr because I had problems with Chrome and I solved it using both functions.

if ($(':checkbox').is(':checked')){
    $(':checkbox').prop('checked', true).attr('checked', 'checked');
}
else {
    $(':checkbox').prop('checked', false).removeAttr('checked');
}

How to get time difference in minutes in PHP

How to align this span to the right of the div?

The solution using flexbox without justify-content: space-between.

<div class="title">
  <span>Cumulative performance</span>
  <span>20/02/2011</span>
</div>

.title {
  display: flex;
}

span:first-of-type {
  flex: 1;
}

When we use flex:1 on the first <span>, it takes up the entire remaining space and moves the second <span> to the right. The Fiddle with this solution: https://jsfiddle.net/2k1vryn7/

Here https://jsfiddle.net/7wvx2uLp/3/ you can see the difference between two flexbox approaches: flexbox with justify-content: space-between and flexbox with flex:1 on the first <span>.

Ruby on Rails form_for select field with class

Try this way:

<%= f.select(:object_field, ['Item 1', ...], {}, { :class => 'my_style_class' }) %>

select helper takes two options hashes, one for select, and the second for html options. So all you need is to give default empty options as first param after list of items and then add your class to html_options.

How to get Django and ReactJS to work together?

The first approach is building separate Django and React apps. Django will be responsible for serving the API built using Django REST framework and React will consume these APIs using the Axios client or the browser's fetch API. You'll need to have two servers, both in development and production, one for Django(REST API) and the other for React (to serve static files).

The second approach is different the frontend and backend apps will be coupled. Basically you'll use Django to both serve the React frontend and to expose the REST API. So you'll need to integrate React and Webpack with Django, these are the steps that you can follow to do that

First generate your Django project then inside this project directory generate your React application using the React CLI

For Django project install django-webpack-loader with pip:

pip install django-webpack-loader

Next add the app to installed apps and configure it in settings.py by adding the following object

WEBPACK_LOADER = {
    'DEFAULT': {
            'BUNDLE_DIR_NAME': '',
            'STATS_FILE': os.path.join(BASE_DIR, 'webpack-stats.json'),
        }
}

Then add a Django template that will be used to mount the React application and will be served by Django

{ % load render_bundle from webpack_loader % }

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="UTF-8" />
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />
    <title>Django + React </title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <div id="root">
     This is where React will be mounted
    </div>
    { % render_bundle 'main' % }
  </body>
</html>

Then add an URL in urls.py to serve this template

from django.conf.urls import url
from django.contrib import admin
from django.views.generic import TemplateView

urlpatterns = [

    url(r'^', TemplateView.as_view(template_name="main.html")),

]

If you start both the Django and React servers at this point you'll get a Django error saying the webpack-stats.json doesn't exist. So next you need to make your React application able to generate the stats file.

Go ahead and navigate inside your React app then install webpack-bundle-tracker

npm install webpack-bundle-tracker --save

Then eject your Webpack configuration and go to config/webpack.config.dev.js then add

var BundleTracker  = require('webpack-bundle-tracker');
//...

module.exports = {

    plugins: [
          new BundleTracker({path: "../", filename: 'webpack-stats.json'}),
    ]
}

This add BundleTracker plugin to Webpack and instruct it to generate webpack-stats.json in the parent folder.

Make sure also to do the same in config/webpack.config.prod.js for production.

Now if you re-run your React server the webpack-stats.json will be generated and Django will be able to consume it to find information about the Webpack bundles generated by React dev server.

There are some other things to. You can find more information from this tutorial.

Can PHP cURL retrieve response headers AND body in a single request?

My way is

$response = curl_exec($ch);
$x = explode("\r\n\r\n", $v, 3);
$header=http_parse_headers($x[0]);
if ($header=['Response Code']==100){ //use the other "header"
    $header=http_parse_headers($x[1]);
    $body=$x[2];
}else{
    $body=$x[1];
}

If needed apply a for loop and remove the explode limit.

How do I bind the enter key to a function in tkinter?

I found one good thing about using bind is that you get to know the trigger event: something like: "You clicked with event = [ButtonPress event state=Mod1 num=1 x=43 y=20]" due to the code below:

self.submit.bind('<Button-1>', self.parse)
def parse(self, trigger_event):
        print("You clicked with event = {}".format(trigger_event))

Comparing the following two ways of coding a button click:

btn = Button(root, text="Click me to submit", command=(lambda: reply(ent.get())))
btn = Button(root, text="Click me to submit")
btn.bind('<Button-1>', (lambda event: reply(ent.get(), e=event)))
def reply(name, e = None):
    messagebox.showinfo(title="Reply", message = "Hello {0}!\nevent = {1}".format(name, e))

The first one is using the command function which doesn't take an argument, so no event pass-in is possible. The second one is a bind function which can take an event pass-in and print something like "Hello Charles! event = [ButtonPress event state=Mod1 num=1 x=68 y=12]"

We can left click, middle click or right click a mouse which corresponds to the event number of 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Code:

btn = Button(root, text="Click me to submit")
buttonClicks = ["<Button-1>", "<Button-2>", "<Button-3>"]
for bc in buttonClicks:
    btn.bind(bc, lambda e : print("Button clicked with event = {}".format(e.num)))

Output:

Button clicked with event = 1
Button clicked with event = 2
Button clicked with event = 3

Python threading. How do I lock a thread?

You can see that your locks are pretty much working as you are using them, if you slow down the process and make them block a bit more. You had the right idea, where you surround critical pieces of code with the lock. Here is a small adjustment to your example to show you how each waits on the other to release the lock.

import threading
import time
import inspect

class Thread(threading.Thread):
    def __init__(self, t, *args):
        threading.Thread.__init__(self, target=t, args=args)
        self.start()

count = 0
lock = threading.Lock()

def incre():
    global count
    caller = inspect.getouterframes(inspect.currentframe())[1][3]
    print "Inside %s()" % caller
    print "Acquiring lock"
    with lock:
        print "Lock Acquired"
        count += 1
        time.sleep(2)

def bye():
    while count < 5:
        incre()

def hello_there():
    while count < 5:
        incre()

def main():
    hello = Thread(hello_there)
    goodbye = Thread(bye)

if __name__ == '__main__':
    main()

Sample output:

...
Inside hello_there()
Acquiring lock
Lock Acquired
Inside bye()
Acquiring lock
Lock Acquired
...

How do I prevent 'git diff' from using a pager?

Regarding the disabled color when piping:

Use --color to avoid that coloring is disabled.

git diff --color | less -R

Or configure it forced on (in e.g. .gitconfig):

[color]
        ui = on

git diff | less -R

For non-color tools, then use:

git diff --no-color | some-primitive-tool

Exporting environment variable LESS=-R (in e.g. .bashrc) turns on color support by default in "less":

git diff | less

Solution to "subquery returns more than 1 row" error

When one gets the error 'sub-query returns more than 1 row', the database is actually telling you that there is an unresolvable circular reference. It's a bit like using a spreadsheet and saying cell A1 = B1 and then saying B1 = A1. This error is typically associated with a scenario where one needs to have a double nested sub-query. I would recommend you look up a thing called a 'cross-tab query' this is the type of query one normally needs to solve this problem. It's basically an outer join (left or right) nested inside a sub-query or visa versa. One can also solve this problem with a double join (also considered to be a type of cross-tab query) such as below:

CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`localhost` PROCEDURE `SP_GET_VEHICLES_IN`(
    IN P_email VARCHAR(150),
    IN P_credentials VARCHAR(150)
)
BEGIN
    DECLARE V_user_id INT(11);
    SET V_user_id = (SELECT user_id FROM users WHERE email = P_email AND credentials = P_credentials LIMIT 1);
    SELECT vehicles_in.vehicle_id, vehicles_in.make_id, vehicles_in.model_id, vehicles_in.model_year,
    vehicles_in.registration, vehicles_in.date_taken, make.make_label, model.model_label
    FROM make
    LEFT OUTER JOIN vehicles_in ON vehicles_in.make_id = make.make_id
    LEFT OUTER JOIN model ON model.make_id = make.make_id AND vehicles_in.model_id = model.model_id
    WHERE vehicles_in.user_id = V_user_id;
END

In the code above notice that there are three tables in amongst the SELECT clause and these three tables show up after the FROM clause and after the two LEFT OUTER JOIN clauses, these three tables must be distinct amongst the FROM and LEFT OUTER JOIN clauses to be syntactically correct.

It is noteworthy that this is a very important construct to know as a developer especially if you're writing periodical report queries and it's probably the most important skill for any complex cross referencing, so all developers should study these constructs (cross-tab and double join).

Another thing I must warn about is: If you are going to use a cross-tab as a part of a working system and not just a periodical report, you must check the record count and reconfigure the join conditions until the minimum records are returned, otherwise large tables and cross-tabs can grind your server to a halt. Hope this helps.

Can I get all methods of a class?

Straight from the source: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/ALT/Reflection/ Then I modified it to be self contained, not requiring anything from the command line. ;-)

with the -R parameter for recursive copy (compulsory for copying directories).

MySQL and GROUP_CONCAT() maximum length

The correct syntax is mysql> SET @@global.group_concat_max_len = integer;
If you do not have the privileges to do this on the server where your database resides then use a query like:
mySQL="SET @@session.group_concat_max_len = 10000;"or a different value.
Next line:
SET objRS = objConn.Execute(mySQL)  your variables may be different.
then
mySQL="SELECT GROUP_CONCAT(......);" etc
I use the last version since I do not have the privileges to change the default value of 1024 globally (using cPanel).
Hope this helps.

Found 'OR 1=1/* sql injection in my newsletter database

'OR 1=1 is an attempt to make a query succeed no matter what
The /* is an attempt to start a multiline comment so the rest of the query is ignored.

An example would be

SELECT userid
FROM users
WHERE username = ''OR 1=1/*'
    AND password = ''
    AND domain = ''

As you can see if you were to populate the username field without escaping the ' no matter what credentials the user passes in the query would return all userids in the system likely granting access to the attacker (possibly admin access if admin is your first user). You will also notice the remainder of the query would be commented out because of the /* including the real '.

The fact that you can see the value in your database means that it was escaped and that particular attack did not succeed. However, you should investigate if any other attempts were made.

Remove characters from NSString?

You can try this

- (NSString *)stripRemoveSpaceFrom:(NSString *)str {
    while ([str rangeOfString:@"  "].location != NSNotFound) {
        str = [str stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@""];
    }
    return str;
}

How do I break out of a loop in Perl?

For Perl one-liners with implicit loops (using -n or -p command line options), use last or last LINE to break out of the loop that iterates over input records. For example, these simple examples all print the first 2 lines of the input:

echo 1 2 3 4 | xargs -n1 | perl -ne 'last if $. == 3; print;'
echo 1 2 3 4 | xargs -n1 | perl -ne 'last LINE if $. == 3; print;'
echo 1 2 3 4 | xargs -n1 | perl -pe 'last if $. == 3;'
echo 1 2 3 4 | xargs -n1 | perl -pe 'last LINE if $. == 3;'

All print:

1
2

The perl one-liners use these command line flags:
-e : tells Perl to look for code in-line, instead of in a file.
-n : loop over the input one line at a time, assigning it to $_ by default.
-p : same as -n, also add print after each loop iteration over the input.

Get ALL User Friends Using Facebook Graph API - Android

In v2.0 of the Graph API, calling /me/friends returns the person's friends who also use the app.

In addition, in v2.0, you must request the user_friends permission from each user. user_friends is no longer included by default in every login. Each user must grant the user_friends permission in order to appear in the response to /me/friends. See the Facebook upgrade guide for more detailed information, or review the summary below.

The /me/friendlists endpoint and user_friendlists permission are not what you're after. This endpoint does not return the users friends - its lets you access the lists a person has made to organize their friends. It does not return the friends in each of these lists. This API and permission is useful to allow you to render a custom privacy selector when giving people the opportunity to publish back to Facebook.

If you want to access a list of non-app-using friends, there are two options:

  1. If you want to let your people tag their friends in stories that they publish to Facebook using your App, you can use the /me/taggable_friends API. Use of this endpoint requires review by Facebook and should only be used for the case where you're rendering a list of friends in order to let the user tag them in a post.

  2. If your App is a Game AND your Game supports Facebook Canvas, you can use the /me/invitable_friends endpoint in order to render a custom invite dialog, then pass the tokens returned by this API to the standard Requests Dialog.

In other cases, apps are no longer able to retrieve the full list of a user's friends (only those friends who have specifically authorized your app using the user_friends permission).

For apps wanting allow people to invite friends to use an app, you can still use the Send Dialog on Web or the new Message Dialog on iOS and Android.

Passing references to pointers in C++

Your function expects a reference to an actual string pointer in the calling scope, not an anonymous string pointer. Thus:

string s;
string* _s = &s;
myfunc(_s);

should compile just fine.

However, this is only useful if you intend to modify the pointer you pass to the function. If you intend to modify the string itself you should use a reference to the string as Sake suggested. With that in mind it should be more obvious why the compiler complains about you original code. In your code the pointer is created 'on the fly', modifying that pointer would have no consequence and that is not what is intended. The idea of a reference (vs. a pointer) is that a reference always points to an actual object.

Java FileOutputStream Create File if not exists

FileUtils from apache commons is a pretty good way to achieve this in a single line.

FileOutputStream s = FileUtils.openOutputStream(new File("/home/nikhil/somedir/file.txt"))

This will create parent folders if do not exist and create a file if not exists and throw a exception if file object is a directory or cannot be written to. This is equivalent to:

File file = new File("/home/nikhil/somedir/file.txt");
file.getParentFile().mkdirs(); // Will create parent directories if not exists
file.createNewFile();
FileOutputStream s = new FileOutputStream(file,false);

All the above operations will throw an exception if the current user is not permitted to do the operation.

How do I center content in a div using CSS?

To align horizontally it's pretty straight forward:

    <style type="text/css">
body  {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    text-align: center;
}
.bodyclass #container {
    width: ???px; /*SET your width here*/
    margin: 0 auto;
    text-align: left;
}
</style>
<body class="bodyclass ">
<div id="container">type your content here</div>
</body>

and for vertical align, it's a bit tricky: here's the source

Install Chrome extension form outside the Chrome Web Store

For regular Windows users who are not skilled with computers, it is practically not possible to install and use extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store.

Users of other operating systems (Linux, Mac, Chrome OS) can easily install unpacked extensions (in developer mode).
Windows users can also load an unpacked extension, but they will always see an information bubble with "Disable developer mode extensions" when they start Chrome or open a new incognito window, which is really annoying. The only way for Windows users to use unpacked extensions without such dialogs is to switch to Chrome on the developer channel, by installing https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/index.html?extra=devchannel#eula.

Extensions can be loaded in unpacked mode by following the following steps:

  1. Visit chrome://extensions (via omnibox or menu -> Tools -> Extensions).
  2. Enable Developer mode by ticking the checkbox in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click on the "Load unpacked extension..." button.
  4. Select the directory containing your unpacked extension.

If you have a crx file, then it needs to be extracted first. CRX files are zip files with a different header. Any capable zip program should be able to open it. If you don't have such a program, I recommend 7-zip.

These steps will work for almost every extension, except extensions that rely on their extension ID. If you use the previous method, you will get an extension with a random extension ID. If it is important to preserve the extension ID, then you need to know the public key of your CRX file and insert this in your manifest.json. I have previously given a detailed explanation on how to get and use this key at https://stackoverflow.com/a/21500707.

How to get source code of a Windows executable?

You can't get the C++ source from an exe, and you can only get some version of the C# source via reflection.

Uninstall mongoDB from ubuntu

In my case mongodb packages are named mongodb-org and mongodb-org-*

So when I type sudo apt purge mongo then tab (for auto-completion) I can see all installed packages that start with mongo.

Another option is to run the following command (which will list all packages that contain mongo in their names or their descriptions):

dpkg -l | grep mongo

In summary, I would do (to purge all packages that start with mongo):

sudo apt purge mongo*

and then (to make sure that no mongo packages are left):

dpkg -l | grep mongo

Of course, as mentioned by @alicanozkara, you will need to manually remove some directories like /var/log/mongodb and /var/lib/mongodb

Running the following find commands:

sudo find /etc/ -name "*mongo*" and sudo find /var/ -name "*mongo*"

may also show some files that you may want to remove, like:

/etc/systemd/system/mongodb.service
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.2.list

and:

/var/lib/apt/lists/repo.mongodb.*

You may also want to remove user and group mongodb, to do so you need to run:

sudo userdel -r mongodb
sudo groupdel mongodb

To check whether mongodb user/group exists or not, try:

cut -d: -f1 /etc/passwd | grep mongo
cut -d: -f1 /etc/group | grep mongo

Process escape sequences in a string in Python

This is a bad way of doing it, but it worked for me when trying to interpret escaped octals passed in a string argument.

input_string = eval('b"' + sys.argv[1] + '"')

It's worth mentioning that there is a difference between eval and ast.literal_eval (eval being way more unsafe). See Using python's eval() vs. ast.literal_eval()?

Is there a way to change the spacing between legend items in ggplot2?

ggplot2 v3.0.0 released in July 2018 has working options to modify legend.spacing.x, legend.spacing.y and legend.text.

Example: Increase horizontal spacing between legend keys

library(ggplot2)

ggplot(mtcars, aes(factor(cyl), fill = factor(cyl))) +
  geom_bar() +
  coord_flip() +
  scale_fill_brewer("Cyl", palette = "Dark2") +
  theme_minimal(base_size = 14) +
  theme(legend.position = 'top',
        legend.spacing.x = unit(1.0, 'cm'))

Note: If you only want to expand the spacing to the right of the legend text, use stringr::str_pad()

Example: Move the legend key labels to the bottom and increase vertical spacing

ggplot(mtcars, aes(factor(cyl), fill = factor(cyl))) +
  geom_bar() +
  coord_flip() +
  scale_fill_brewer("Cyl", palette = "Dark2") +
  theme_minimal(base_size = 14) +
  theme(legend.position = 'top',
        legend.spacing.x = unit(1.0, 'cm'),
        legend.text = element_text(margin = margin(t = 10))) +
  guides(fill = guide_legend(title = "Cyl",
                             label.position = "bottom",
                             title.position = "left", title.vjust = 1))

Example: for scale_fill_xxx & guide_colorbar

ggplot(mtcars, aes(mpg, wt)) +
  geom_point(aes(fill = hp), pch = I(21), size = 5)+
  scale_fill_viridis_c(guide = FALSE) +
  theme_classic(base_size = 14) +
  theme(legend.position = 'top',
        legend.spacing.x = unit(0.5, 'cm'),
        legend.text = element_text(margin = margin(t = 10))) +
  guides(fill = guide_colorbar(title = "HP",
                               label.position = "bottom",
                               title.position = "left", title.vjust = 1,
                               # draw border around the legend
                               frame.colour = "black",
                               barwidth = 15,
                               barheight = 1.5))

For vertical legends, settinglegend.key.size only increases the size of the legend keys, not the vertical space between them

ggplot(mtcars) +
  aes(x = cyl, fill = factor(cyl)) +
  geom_bar() +
  scale_fill_brewer("Cyl", palette = "Dark2") +
  theme_minimal(base_size = 14) +
  theme(legend.key.size = unit(1, "cm"))

In order to increase the distance between legend keys, modification of the legend-draw.r function is needed. See this issue for more info

# function to increase vertical spacing between legend keys
# @clauswilke
draw_key_polygon3 <- function(data, params, size) {
  lwd <- min(data$size, min(size) / 4)

  grid::rectGrob(
    width = grid::unit(0.6, "npc"),
    height = grid::unit(0.6, "npc"),
    gp = grid::gpar(
      col = data$colour,
      fill = alpha(data$fill, data$alpha),
      lty = data$linetype,
      lwd = lwd * .pt,
      linejoin = "mitre"
    ))
}

### this step is not needed anymore per tjebo's comment below
### see also: https://ggplot2.tidyverse.org/reference/draw_key.html
# register new key drawing function,
# the effect is global & persistent throughout the R session
# GeomBar$draw_key = draw_key_polygon3

ggplot(mtcars) +
  aes(x = cyl, fill = factor(cyl)) +
  geom_bar(key_glyph = "polygon3") +
  scale_fill_brewer("Cyl", palette = "Dark2") +
  theme_minimal(base_size = 14) +
  theme(legend.key = element_rect(color = NA, fill = NA),
        legend.key.size = unit(1.5, "cm")) +
  theme(legend.title.align = 0.5)

How to Pass Parameters to Activator.CreateInstance<T>()

Keep in mind though that passing arguments on Activator.CreateInstance has a significant performance difference versus parameterless creation.

There are better alternatives for dynamically creating objects using pre compiled lambda. Of course always performance is subjective and it clearly depends on each case if it's worth it or not.

Details about the issue on this article.

Graph is taken from the article and represents time taken in ms per 1000 calls.

Creating a class object in c++

I can use the same in c++ like this [...] Where constructor is compulsory. From this tutorial I got that we can create object like this [...] Which do not require an constructor.

This is wrong. A constructor must exist in order to create an object. The constructor could be defined implicitly by the compiler under some conditions if you do not provide any, but eventually the constructor must be there if you want an object to be instantiated. In fact, the lifetime of an object is defined to begin when the constructor routine returns.

From Paragraph 3.8/1 of the C++11 Standard:

[...] The lifetime of an object of type T begins when:

— storage with the proper alignment and size for type T is obtained, and

— if the object has non-trivial initialization, its initialization is complete.

Therefore, a constructor must be present.

1) What is the difference between both the way of creating class objects.

When you instantiate object with automatic storage duration, like this (where X is some class):

X x;

You are creating an object which will be automatically destroyed when it goes out of scope. On the other hand, when you do:

X* x = new X();

You are creating an object dynamically and you are binding its address to a pointer. This way, the object you created will not be destroyed when your x pointer goes out of scope.

In Modern C++, this is regarded as a dubious programming practice: although pointers are important because they allow realizing reference semantics, raw pointers are bad because they could result in memory leaks (objects outliving all of their pointers and never getting destroyed) or in dangling pointers (pointers outliving the object they point to, potentially causing Undefined Behavior when dereferenced).

In fact, when creating an object with new, you always have to remember destroying it with delete:

delete x;

If you need reference semantics and are forced to use pointers, in C++11 you should consider using smart pointers instead:

std::shared_ptr<X> x = std::make_shared<X>();

Smart pointers take care of memory management issues, which is what gives you headache with raw pointers. Smart pointers are, in fact, almost the same as Java or C# object references. The "almost" is necessary because the programmer must take care of not introducing cyclic dependencies through owning smart pointers.

2) If i am creating object like Example example; how to use that in an singleton class.

You could do something like this (simplified code):

struct Example
{
    static Example& instance()
    {
        static Example example;
        return example;
    }

 private:

    Example() { }
    Example(Example const&) = delete;
    Example(Example&&) = delete;
    Example& operator = (Example const&) = delete;
    Example& operator = (Example&&) = delete;

};

What is the difference between & and && in Java?

I think my answer can be more understandable:

There are two differences between & and &&.

If they use as logical AND

& and && can be logical AND, when the & or && left and right expression result all is true, the whole operation result can be true.

when & and && as logical AND, there is a difference:

when use && as logical AND, if the left expression result is false, the right expression will not execute.

Take the example :

String str = null;

if(str!=null && !str.equals("")){ // the right expression will not execute

}

If using &:

String str = null;

if(str!=null & !str.equals("")){ // the right expression will execute, and throw the NullPointerException

}

An other more example:

int x = 0;
int y = 2;
if(x==0 & ++y>2){
    System.out.print(“y=”+y);  // print is: y=3
}

int x = 0;
int y = 2;
if(x==0 && ++y>2){
    System.out.print(“y=”+y);  // print is: y=2
}

& can be used as bit operator

& can be used as Bitwise AND operator, && can not.

The bitwise AND " &" operator produces 1 if and only if both of the bits in its operands are 1. However, if both of the bits are 0 or both of the bits are different then this operator produces 0. To be more precise bitwise AND " &" operator returns 1 if any of the two bits is 1 and it returns 0 if any of the bits is 0.

What MySQL data type should be used for Latitude/Longitude with 8 decimal places?

You can set your data-type as signed integer. When you storage coordinates to SQL you can set as lat*10000000 and long*10000000. And when you selecting with distance/radius you will divide storage coordinates to 10000000. I was test it with 300K rows, query response time is good. ( 2 x 2.67GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, MySQL 5.5.49 )

Remove carriage return in Unix

Using sed

sed $'s/\r//' infile > outfile

Using sed on Git Bash for Windows

sed '' infile > outfile

The first version uses ANSI-C quoting and may require escaping \ if the command runs from a script. The second version exploits the fact that sed reads the input file line by line by removing \r and \n characters. When writing lines to the output file, however, it only appends a \n character. A more general and cross-platform solution can be devised by simply modifying IFS

IFS=$'\r\n' # or IFS+=$'\r' if the lines do not contain whitespace
printf "%s\n" $(cat infile) > outfile
IFS=$' \t\n' # not necessary if IFS+=$'\r' is used

Warning: This solution performs filename expansion (*, ?, [...] and more if extglob is set). Use it only if you are sure that the file does not contain special characters or you want the expansion.
Warning: None of the solutions can handle \ in the input file.

Node.js - How to send data from html to express

Using http.createServer is very low-level and really not useful for creating web applications as-is.

A good framework to use on top of it is Express, and I would seriously suggest using it. You can install it using npm install express.

When you have, you can create a basic application to handle your form:

var express = require('express');
var bodyParser = require('body-parser');
var app     = express();

//Note that in version 4 of express, express.bodyParser() was
//deprecated in favor of a separate 'body-parser' module.
app.use(bodyParser.urlencoded({ extended: true }));

//app.use(express.bodyParser());

app.post('/myaction', function(req, res) {
  res.send('You sent the name "' + req.body.name + '".');
});

app.listen(8080, function() {
  console.log('Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8080/');
});

You can make your form point to it using:

<form action="http://127.0.0.1:8080/myaction" method="post">

The reason you can't run Node on port 80 is because there's already a process running on that port (which is serving your index.html). You could use Express to also serve static content, like index.html, using the express.static middleware.

Excluding directory when creating a .tar.gz file

tar -pczf <target_file.tar.gz> --exclude /path/to/exclude --exclude /another/path/to/exclude/* /path/to/include/ /another/path/to/include/*

Tested in Ubuntu 19.10.

  1. The = after exclude is optional. You can use = instead of space after keyword exclude if you like.
  2. Parameter exclude must be placed before the source.
  3. The difference between use folder name (like the 1st) or the * (like the 2nd) is: the 2nd one will include an empty folder in package but the 1st will not.

Is it valid to have a html form inside another html form?

In case someone find this post here is a great solution without the need of JS. Use two submit buttons with different name attributes check in your server language which submit button was pressed cause only one of them will be sent to the server.

<form method="post" action="ServerFileToExecute.php">
    <input type="submit" name="save" value="Click here to save" />
    <input type="submit" name="delete" value="Click here to delete" />
</form>

The server side could look something like this if you use php:

<?php
    if(isset($_POST['save']))
        echo "Stored!";
    else if(isset($_POST['delete']))
        echo "Deleted!";
    else
        echo "Action is missing!";
?>

What does FETCH_HEAD in Git mean?

The FETCH_HEAD is a reference to the tip of the last fetch, whether that fetch was initiated directly using the fetch command or as part of a pull. The current value of FETCH_HEAD is stored in the .git folder in a file named, you guessed it, FETCH_HEAD.

So if I issue:

git fetch https://github.com/ryanmaxwell/Fragaria

FETCH_HEAD may contain

3cfda7cfdcf9fb78b44d991f8470df56723658d3        https://github.com/ryanmaxwell/Fragaria

If I have the remote repo configured as a remote tracking branch then I can follow my fetch with a merge of the tracking branch. If I don't I can merge the tip of the last fetch directly using FETCH_HEAD.

git merge FETCH_HEAD

Easiest way to toggle 2 classes in jQuery

Here's another 'non-conventional' way.

  • It implies the use of underscore or lodash.
  • It assumes a context where you:
    • the element doesn't have an init class (that means you cannot do toggleClass('a b'))
    • you have to get the class dynamically from somewhere

An example of this scenario could be buttons that has the class to be switched on another element (say tabs in a container).

// 1: define the array of switching classes:
var types = ['web','email'];

// 2: get the active class:
var type = $(mybutton).prop('class');

// 3: switch the class with the other on (say..) the container. You can guess the other by using _.without() on the array:
$mycontainer.removeClass(_.without(types, type)[0]).addClass(type);

Configuring so that pip install can work from github

You need the whole python package, with a setup.py file in it.

A package named foo would be:

foo # the installable package

¦   +-- bar.py
+-- setup.py

And install from github like:

$ pip install git+ssh://[email protected]/myuser/foo.git
or
$ pip install git+https://github.com/myuser/foo.git@v123
or
$ pip install git+https://github.com/myuser/foo.git@newbranch

jQuery val is undefined?

I just ran across this myself yesterday on a project I was working on. I'm my specific case, it was not exactly what the input was named, but how the ID was named.

<input id="user_info[1][last_name]" ..... />
var last_name = $("#user_info[1][last_name]").val() // returned undefined

Removing the brackets solved the issue:

<input id="user_info1_last_name" ..... />
var last_name = $("#user_info1_last_name").val() // returned "MyLastNameValue"

Anyway, probably a no brainer for some people, but in case this helps anyone else... there you go!

MVC: How to Return a String as JSON

You just need to return standard ContentResult and set ContentType to "application/json". You can create custom ActionResult for it:

public class JsonStringResult : ContentResult
{
    public JsonStringResult(string json)
    {
        Content = json;
        ContentType = "application/json";
    }
}

And then return it's instance:

[HttpPost]
public JsonResult UpdateBatchSearchMembers()
{
    string returntext;
    if (!System.IO.File.Exists(path))
        returntext = Properties.Settings.Default.EmptyBatchSearchUpdate;
    else
        returntext = Properties.Settings.Default.ResponsePath;

    return new JsonStringResult(returntext);
}

dbms_lob.getlength() vs. length() to find blob size in oracle

length and dbms_lob.getlength return the number of characters when applied to a CLOB (Character LOB). When applied to a BLOB (Binary LOB), dbms_lob.getlength will return the number of bytes, which may differ from the number of characters in a multi-byte character set.

As the documentation doesn't specify what happens when you apply length on a BLOB, I would advise against using it in that case. If you want the number of bytes in a BLOB, use dbms_lob.getlength.

JUnit tests pass in Eclipse but fail in Maven Surefire

I had this problem today testing a method that converted an object that contained a Map to a JSON string. I assume Eclipse and the Maven surefire plugin were using different JREs which had different implementations of HashMap ordering or something, which caused the tests run through Eclipse to pass and the tests run through surefire to fail (assertEquals failed). The easiest solution was to use an implementation of Map that had reliable ordering.

Efficient way to insert a number into a sorted array of numbers?

Had your first code been bug free, my best guess is, it would have been how you do this job in JS. I mean;

  1. Make a binary search to find the index of insertion
  2. Use splice to perform your insertion.

This is almost always 2x faster than a top down or bottom up linear search and insert as mentioned in domoarigato's answer which i liked very much and took it as a basis to my benchmark and finally push and sort.

Of course under many cases you are probably doing this job on some objects in real life and here i have generated a benchmark test for these three cases for an array of size 100000 holding some objects. Feel free to play with it.

How to abort an interactive rebase if --abort doesn't work?

Try to follow the advice you see on the screen, and first reset your master's HEAD to the commit it expects.

git update-ref refs/heads/master b918ac16a33881ce00799bea63d9c23bf7022d67

Then, abort the rebase again.

How to delete files/subfolders in a specific directory at the command prompt in Windows

The simplest solution I can think of is removing the whole directory with

What exactly does Perl's "bless" do?

I'll provide an answer here since the ones here didn't quite click for me.

Perl's bless function associates any reference to all functions inside a package.

Why would we need this?

Let's begin by expressing an example in JavaScript:

(() => {
    'use strict';

    class Animal {
        constructor(args) {
            this.name = args.name;
            this.sound = args.sound;
        }
    }

    /* [WRONG] (global scope corruption)
     * var animal = Animal({
     *     'name': 'Jeff',
     *     'sound': 'bark'
     * });
     * console.log(animal.name + ', ' + animal.sound); // seems good
     * console.log(window.name); // my window's name is Jeff?
     */

    // new is important!
    var animal = new Animal(
        'name': 'Jeff',
        'sound': 'bark'
    );

    console.log(animal.name + ', ' + animal.sound); // still fine.
    console.log(window.name); // undefined
})();

Now lets strip away the class construct and make do without it:

(() => {
    'use strict';

    var Animal = function(args) {
        this.name = args.name;
        this.sound = args.sound;
        return this; // implicit context hashmap
    };

    // the "new" causes the Animal to be unbound from global context, and
    // rebinds it to an empty hash map before being constructed. The state is
    // now bound to animal, not the global scope.
    var animal = new Animal({
        'name': 'Jeff',
        'sound': 'bark'
    });
    console.log(animal.sound);
})();

The function takes a hash table of unordered properties(since it makes no sense to have to write properties in a specific order in dynamic languages in 2016) and returns a hash table with those properties, or if you forgot to put the new keyword, it will return the whole global context(eg window in browser or global in nodejs).

Perl has no "this" nor "new" nor "class", but it can still have a function that behaves similarly. We won't have a constructor nor a prototype, but we will be able to create new animals at will and modify their individual properties.

# self contained scope
(sub {
    my $Animal = (sub {
        return {
            'name' => $_[0]{'name'},
            'sound' => $_[0]{'sound'}
        };
    });

    my $animal = $Animal->({
        'name' => 'Jeff',
        'sound' => 'bark'
    });

    print $animal->{sound};
})->();

Now, we have a problem: What if we want the animal to perform the sounds by themselves instead of us printing what their voice is. That is, we want a function performSound that prints the animal's own sound.

One way to do this is by teaching each individual Animal how to do it's sound. This means that each Cat has its own duplicate function to performSound.

# self contained scope
(sub {
    my $Animal = (sub {
        $name = $_[0]{'name'};
        $sound = $_[0]{'sound'};

        return {
            'name' => $name,
            'sound' => $sound,
            'performSound' => sub {
                print $sound . "\n";
            }
        };
    });

    my $animal = $Animal->({
        'name' => 'Jeff',
        'sound' => 'bark'
    });

    $animal->{'performSound'}();
})->();

This is bad because performSound is put as a completely new function object each time an animal is constructed. 10000 animals means 10000 performSounds. We want to have a single function performSound that is used by all animals that looks up their own sound and prints it.

(() => {
    'use strict';

    /* a function that creates an Animal constructor which can be used to create animals */
    var Animal = (() => {
        /* function is important, as fat arrow does not have "this" and will not be bound to Animal. */
        var InnerAnimal = function(args) {
            this.name = args.name;
            this.sound = args.sound;
        };
        /* defined once and all animals use the same single function call */
        InnerAnimal.prototype.performSound = function() {
            console.log(this.name);
        };

        return InnerAnimal;
    })();

    /* we're gonna create an animal with arguments in different order
       because we want to be edgy. */
    var animal = new Animal({
        'sound': 'bark',
        'name': 'Jeff'
    });
    animal.performSound(); // Jeff
})();

Here is where the parallel to Perl kinda stops.

JavaScript's new operator is not optional, without it, "this" inside object methods corrupts global scope:

(() => {
    // 'use strict'; // uncommenting this prevents corruption and raises an error instead.

    var Person = function() {
        this.name = "Sam";
    };
// var wrong = Person(); // oops! we have overwritten window.name or global.main.
//    console.log(window.name); // my window's name is Sam?
    var correct = new Person; // person's name is actually stored in the person now.

})();

We want to have one function for each Animal that looks up that animal's own sound rather than hardcoding it at construction.

Blessing lets us use a package as the prototype of objects. This way, the object is aware of the "package" it is "referenced to", and in turn can have the functions in the package "reach into" the specific instances that were created from the constructor of that "package object":

package Animal;
sub new {
    my $packageRef = $_[0];
    my $name = $_[1]->{'name'};
    my $sound = $_[1]->{'sound'};

    my $this = {
        'name' => $name,
        'sound' => $sound
    };

    bless($this, $packageRef);
    return $this;
}

# all animals use the same performSound to look up their sound.
sub performSound {
    my $this = shift;
    my $sound = $this->{'sound'};
    print $sound . "\n";
}

package main;
my $animal = Animal->new({
    'name' => 'Cat',
    'sound' => 'meow'
});
$animal->performSound();

Summary/TL;DR:

Perl has no "this", "class", nor "new". blessing an object to a package gives that object a reference to the package, and when it calls functions in the package, their arguments will be offset by 1 slot, and the first argument($_[0] or shift) will be equivalent to javascript's "this". In turn, you can somewhat simulate JavaScript's prototype model.

Unfortunately it makes it impossible(to my understanding) to create "new classes" at runtime, as you need each "class" to have its own package, whereas in javascript, you don't need packages at all, as "new" keyword makes up an anonymous hashmap for you to use as a package at runtime to which you can add new functions and remove functions on the fly.

There are some Perl libraries creating their own ways of bridging this limitation in expressiveness, such as Moose.

Why the confusion?:

Because of packages. Our intuition tells us to bind the object to a hashmap containing its' prototype. This lets us create "packages" at runtime like JavaScript can. Perl does not have such flexibility(at least not built in, you have to invent it or get it from other modules), and in turn your runtime expressiveness is hindered. Calling it "bless" doesn't do it much favors neither.

What we want to do:

Something like this, but have binding to the prototype map recursive, and be implicitly bound to the prototype rather than having to explicitly do it.

Here is a naive attempt at it: the issue is that "call" does not know "what called it", so it may as well be a universal perl function "objectInvokeMethod(object, method)" which checks whether the object has the method, or its prototype has it, or its prototype has it, until it reaches the end and finds it or not (prototypical inheritence). Perl has nice eval magic to do it but I'll leave that for something I can try doing later.

Anyway here is the idea:

(sub {

    my $Animal = (sub {
        my $AnimalPrototype = {
            'performSound' => sub {
                return $_[0]->{'sound'};
            }
        };

        my $call = sub {
            my $this = $_[0];
            my $proc = $_[1];

            if (exists $this->{$proc}) {
                return $this->{$proc}->();
            } else {
                return $this->{prototype}->{$proc}->($this, $proc);
            }
        };

        return sub {
            my $name = $_[0]->{name};
            my $sound = $_[0]->{sound};

            my $this = {
                'this' => $this,
                'name' => $name,
                'sound' => $sound,
                'prototype' => $AnimalPrototype,
                'call' => $call
            };
        };
    })->();

    my $animal = $Animal->({
        'name' => 'Jeff',
        'sound'=> 'bark'
    });
    print($animal->{call}($animal, 'performSound'));
})->();

Anyway hopefully somebody will find this post useful.

PHP Include for HTML?

Try to get some debugging information, could be that the file path is wrong, for example.

Try these two things:- Add this line to the top of your sample page:

<?php error_reporting(E_ALL);?>

This will print all errors/warnings/notices in the page so if there is any problem you get a text message describing it instead of a blank page

Additionally you can change include() to require()

<?php require ('headings.php'); ?>
<?php require ('navbar.php'); ?>
<?php require ('image.php'); ?>

This will throw a FATAL error PHP is unable to load required pages, and should help you in getting better tracing what is going wrong..

You can post the error descriptions here, if you get any, and you are unable to figure out what it means..

Make sure that you actually save the file as UTF-8, alternatively use HTML entities (&#nnn;) for the special characters.

What is Mocking?

There are plenty of answers on SO and good posts on the web about mocking. One place that you might want to start looking is the post by Martin Fowler Mocks Aren't Stubs where he discusses a lot of the ideas of mocking.

In one paragraph - Mocking is one particlar technique to allow testing of a unit of code with out being reliant upon dependencies. In general, what differentiates mocking from other methods is that mock objects used to replace code dependencies will allow expectations to be set - a mock object will know how it is meant to be called by your code and how to respond.

Your original question mentioned TypeMock, so I've left my answer to that below:

TypeMock is the name of a commercial mocking framework.

It offers all the features of the free mocking frameworks like RhinoMocks and Moq, plus some more powerful options.

Whether or not you need TypeMock is highly debatable - you can do most mocking you would ever want with free mocking libraries, and many argue that the abilities offered by TypeMock will often lead you away from well encapsulated design.

As another answer stated 'TypeMocking' is not actually a defined concept, but could be taken to mean the type of mocking that TypeMock offers, using the CLR profiler to intercept .Net calls at runtime, giving much greater ability to fake objects (not requirements such as needing interfaces or virtual methods).

git with IntelliJ IDEA: Could not read from remote repository

Go to Preferences > Version Control > Git. Make sure SSH executable is set to “Native.” (If it's already so, switch it to “Built-in,” apply it, and then again switch back to “Native.”).

If this doesn't solve your issue, I would suggest to download a Git client such as GitHub client (free desktop app) and try to sync your project through the app. Then go back to IntelliJ and check if it works.

How to get height of entire document with JavaScript?

The "jQuery method" of determining the document size - query everything, take the highest value, and hope for the best - works in most cases, but not in all of them .

If you really need bullet-proof results for the document size, I'd suggest you use my jQuery.documentSize plugin. Unlike the other methods, it actually tests and evaluates browser behaviour when it is loaded and, based on the result, queries the right property from there on out.

The impact of this one-time test on performance is minimal, and the plugin returns the right results in even the weirdest scenarios - not because I say so, but because a massive, auto-generated test suite actually verifies that it does.

Because the plugin is written in vanilla Javascript, you can use it without jQuery, too.

Running Tensorflow in Jupyter Notebook

Although it's a long time after this question is being asked since I was searching so much for the same problem and couldn't find the extant solutions helpful, I write what fixed my trouble for anyone with the same issue: The point is, Jupyter should be installed in your virtual environment, meaning, after activating the tensorflow environment, run the following in the command prompt (in tensorflow virtual environment):

conda install jupyter

and then the jupyter will pop up.

  • Restart Terminal / Resource your profile
  • Run rvm requirements --with-gcc=clang You won't have to update Ruby because you downloaded the last stable version

How do I check if an index exists on a table field in MySQL?

You can't run a specific show index query because it will throw an error if an index does not exist. Therefore, you have to grab all indexes into an array and loop through them if you want to avoid any SQL errors.

Heres how I do it. I grab all of the indexes from the table (in this case, leads) and then, in a foreach loop, check if the column name (in this case, province) exists or not.

$this->name = 'province';

$stm = $this->db->prepare('show index from `leads`');
$stm->execute();
$res = $stm->fetchAll();
$index_exists = false;

foreach ($res as $r) {
    if ($r['Column_name'] == $this->name) {
        $index_exists = true;
    }
}

This way you can really narrow down the index attributes. Do a print_r of $res in order to see what you can work with.

How to deal with floating point number precision in JavaScript?

Notice that for the general purpose use, this behavior is likely to be acceptable.
The problem arises when comparing those floating points values to determine an appropriate action.
With the advent of ES6, a new constant Number.EPSILON is defined to determine the acceptable error margin :
So instead of performing the comparison like this

0.1 + 0.2 === 0.3 // which returns false

you can define a custom compare function, like this :

function epsEqu(x, y) {
    return Math.abs(x - y) < Number.EPSILON;
}
console.log(epsEqu(0.1+0.2, 0.3)); // true

Start index for iterating Python list

Why are people using list slicing (slow because it copies to a new list), importing a library function, or trying to rotate an array for this?

Use a normal for-loop with range(start, stop, step) (where start and step are optional arguments).

For example, looping through an array starting at index 1:

for i in range(1, len(arr)):
    print(arr[i])

Rotating a Vector in 3D Space

If you want to rotate a vector you should construct what is known as a rotation matrix.

Rotation in 2D

Say you want to rotate a vector or a point by ?, then trigonometry states that the new coordinates are

    x' = x cos ? - y sin ?
    y' = x sin ? + y cos ?

To demo this, let's take the cardinal axes X and Y; when we rotate the X-axis 90° counter-clockwise, we should end up with the X-axis transformed into Y-axis. Consider

    Unit vector along X axis = <1, 0>
    x' = 1 cos 90 - 0 sin 90 = 0
    y' = 1 sin 90 + 0 cos 90 = 1
    New coordinates of the vector, <x', y'> = <0, 1>  ?  Y-axis

When you understand this, creating a matrix to do this becomes simple. A matrix is just a mathematical tool to perform this in a comfortable, generalized manner so that various transformations like rotation, scale and translation (moving) can be combined and performed in a single step, using one common method. From linear algebra, to rotate a point or vector in 2D, the matrix to be built is

    |cos ?   -sin ?| |x| = |x cos ? - y sin ?| = |x'|
    |sin ?    cos ?| |y|   |x sin ? + y cos ?|   |y'|

Rotation in 3D

That works in 2D, while in 3D we need to take in to account the third axis. Rotating a vector around the origin (a point) in 2D simply means rotating it around the Z-axis (a line) in 3D; since we're rotating around Z-axis, its coordinate should be kept constant i.e. 0° (rotation happens on the XY plane in 3D). In 3D rotating around the Z-axis would be

    |cos ?   -sin ?   0| |x|   |x cos ? - y sin ?|   |x'|
    |sin ?    cos ?   0| |y| = |x sin ? + y cos ?| = |y'|
    |  0       0      1| |z|   |        z        |   |z'|

around the Y-axis would be

    | cos ?    0   sin ?| |x|   | x cos ? + z sin ?|   |x'|
    |   0      1       0| |y| = |         y        | = |y'|
    |-sin ?    0   cos ?| |z|   |-x sin ? + z cos ?|   |z'|

around the X-axis would be

    |1     0           0| |x|   |        x        |   |x'|
    |0   cos ?    -sin ?| |y| = |y cos ? - z sin ?| = |y'|
    |0   sin ?     cos ?| |z|   |y sin ? + z cos ?|   |z'|

Note 1: axis around which rotation is done has no sine or cosine elements in the matrix.

Note 2: This method of performing rotations follows the Euler angle rotation system, which is simple to teach and easy to grasp. This works perfectly fine for 2D and for simple 3D cases; but when rotation needs to be performed around all three axes at the same time then Euler angles may not be sufficient due to an inherent deficiency in this system which manifests itself as Gimbal lock. People resort to Quaternions in such situations, which is more advanced than this but doesn't suffer from Gimbal locks when used correctly.

I hope this clarifies basic rotation.

Rotation not Revolution

The aforementioned matrices rotate an object at a distance r = v(x² + y²) from the origin along a circle of radius r; lookup polar coordinates to know why. This rotation will be with respect to the world space origin a.k.a revolution. Usually we need to rotate an object around its own frame/pivot and not around the world's i.e. local origin. This can also be seen as a special case where r = 0. Since not all objects are at the world origin, simply rotating using these matrices will not give the desired result of rotating around the object's own frame. You'd first translate (move) the object to world origin (so that the object's origin would align with the world's, thereby making r = 0), perform the rotation with one (or more) of these matrices and then translate it back again to its previous location. The order in which the transforms are applied matters. Combining multiple transforms together is called concatenation or composition.

Composition

I urge you to read about linear and affine transformations and their composition to perform multiple transformations in one shot, before playing with transformations in code. Without understanding the basic maths behind it, debugging transformations would be a nightmare. I found this lecture video to be a very good resource. Another resource is this tutorial on transformations that aims to be intuitive and illustrates the ideas with animation (caveat: authored by me!).

Rotation around Arbitrary Vector

A product of the aforementioned matrices should be enough if you only need rotations around cardinal axes (X, Y or Z) like in the question posted. However, in many situations you might want to rotate around an arbitrary axis/vector. The Rodrigues' formula (a.k.a. axis-angle formula) is a commonly prescribed solution to this problem. However, resort to it only if you’re stuck with just vectors and matrices. If you're using Quaternions, just build a quaternion with the required vector and angle. Quaternions are a superior alternative for storing and manipulating 3D rotations; it's compact and fast e.g. concatenating two rotations in axis-angle representation is fairly expensive, moderate with matrices but cheap in quaternions. Usually all rotation manipulations are done with quaternions and as the last step converted to matrices when uploading to the rendering pipeline. See Understanding Quaternions for a decent primer on quaternions.

Where to put the gradle.properties file

Actually there are 3 places where gradle.properties can be placed:

  1. Under gradle user home directory defined by the GRADLE_USER_HOME environment variable, which if not set defaults to USER_HOME/.gradle
  2. The sub-project directory (myProject2 in your case)
  3. The root project directory (under myProject)

Gradle looks for gradle.properties in all these places while giving precedence to properties definition based on the order above. So for example, for a property defined in gradle user home directory (#1) and the sub-project (#2) its value will be taken from gradle user home directory (#1).

You can find more details about it in gradle documentation here.

Difference between RUN and CMD in a Dockerfile

I use a tool called Android Icon Set in the Eclipse for standard icons like Launcher, ActionBar, Tab icons and notification icons. You can launch it from File --> New --> Other.. --> Android --> Android Icon Set. The best part is that you can choose any file from your computer and it will automatically place all the images of standard sizes into your project directory.

How do I position a div relative to the mouse pointer using jQuery?

var mouseX;
var mouseY;
$(document).mousemove( function(e) {
   mouseX = e.pageX;
   mouseY = e.pageY;
});
$(".classForHoverEffect").mouseover(function(){
  $('#DivToShow').css({'top':mouseY,'left':mouseX}).fadeIn('slow');
});

the function above will make the DIV appear over the link wherever that may be on the page. It will fade in slowly when the link is hovered. You could also use .hover() instead. From there the DIV will stay, so if you would like the DIV to disappear when the mouse moves away, then,

$(".classForHoverEffect").mouseout(function(){
  $('#DivToShow').fadeOut('slow');
});

If you DIV is already positioned, you can simply use

$('.classForHoverEffect').hover(function(){
  $('#DivToShow').fadeIn('slow');
});

Also, keep in mind, your DIV style needs to be set to display:none; in order for it to fadeIn or show.

How to enable Bootstrap tooltip on disabled button?

You can wrap the disabled button and put the tooltip on the wrapper:

<div class="tooltip-wrapper" data-title="Dieser Link führt zu Google">
  <button class="btn btn-default" disabled>button disabled</button>
</div>

If the wrapper has display:inline then the tooltip doesn't seem to work. Using display:block and display:inline-block seem to work fine. It also appears to work fine with a floated wrapper.

UPDATE Here's an updated JSFiddle that works with the latest Bootstrap (3.3.6). Thanks to @JohnLehmann for suggesting pointer-events: none; for the disabled button.

Add days Oracle SQL

It's Simple.You can use

select (sysdate+2) as new_date from dual;

This will add two days from current date.

This action could not be completed. Try Again (-22421)

I had this problem over and over again. No descriptive description, just the error message that OP posted.

In fact, it was a problem with the build and so had nothing to do with Apple's servers at all, as you might think.

The solution was to go to Organizer and Export the build, then upload it via Application Loader. Here I got the correct error messages. In my case, it was a problem with CocoaPods breaking app extension validations. I solved this and then I could upload my build.

Hope this helps someone like me.

Even though setting a CSS height value to the select element does not work, the padding attribute works alright. Setting a top and bottom padding will make your select element look taller.

Reverse Contents in Array

The line

arr[i] = temp;

is wrong. (On the first iteration of your loop it sets arr[i] to an undefined value; further iterations set it to an incorrect value.) If you remove this line, your array should be reversed correctly.

After that, you should move the code which prints the reversed array into a new loop which iterates over the whole list. Your current code only prints the first count/2 elements.

int temp, i;
for (i = 0; i < count/2; ++i) {
    temp = arr[count-i-1];
    arr[count-i-1] = arr[i];
    arr[i] = temp;
}
for (i = 0; i < count; ++i) {
    cout << arr[i] << " ";
}

How to check if a string contains only numbers?

You may just remove all spaces and leverage LINQ All:

Determines whether all elements of a sequence satisfy a condition.

Use it as shown below:

Dim number As String = "077 234 211"
If number.Replace(" ", "").All(AddressOf Char.IsDigit) Then
    Console.WriteLine("The string is all numeric (spaces ignored)!")
Else
    Console.WriteLine("The string contains a char that is not numeric and space!")
End If

To only check if a string consists of only digits use:

If number.All(AddressOf Char.IsDigit) Then

What is the correct target for the JAVA_HOME environment variable for a Linux OpenJDK Debian-based distribution?

The standard Ubuntu install seems to put the various Java versions in /usr/lib/jvm. The javac, java you find in your path will softlink to this.

There's no issue with installing your own Java version anywhere you like, as long as you set the JAVA_HOME environment variable and make sure to have the new Java bin on your path.

A simple way to do this is to have the Java home exist as a softlink, so that if you want to upgrade or switch versions you only have to change the directory that this points to - e.g.:

/usr/bin/java --> /opt/jdk/bin/java,

/opt/jdk --> /opt/jdk1.6.011

Simple PHP calculator

You need to get the values the same way to get the calculator operation which looks like:

<?php
if($_POST['group1'] == add) {
echo "$_POST['first']+ $_POST['second'];
}
... and so on
?>

Or, to make it easier, just do:

    <!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>Answer</title>
</head>
<body>
<p>The answer is:
<?php
$first = $_POST['first'];
$second= $_POST['second'];

if($_POST['group1'] == add) {
echo "$first + $second";
}
else if($_POST['group1'] == subtract) {
echo "$first - $second";
}
else if($_POST['group1'] == times) {
echo "$first * $second";
}
else($_POST['group1'] == divide) {
echo "$first / $second";
}
?>
</p>
</body>

Using logging in multiple modules

I always do it as below.

Use a single python file to config my log as singleton pattern which named 'log_conf.py'

#-*-coding:utf-8-*-

import logging.config

def singleton(cls):
    instances = {}
    def get_instance():
        if cls not in instances:
            instances[cls] = cls()
        return instances[cls]
    return get_instance()

@singleton
class Logger():
    def __init__(self):
        logging.config.fileConfig('logging.conf')
        self.logr = logging.getLogger('root')

In another module, just import the config.

from log_conf import Logger

Logger.logr.info("Hello World")

This is a singleton pattern to log, simply and efficiently.

What is move semantics?

To illustrate the need for move semantics, let's consider this example without move semantics:

Here's a function that takes an object of type T and returns an object of the same type T:

T f(T o) { return o; }
  //^^^ new object constructed

The above function uses call by value which means that when this function is called an object must be constructed to be used by the function.
Because the function also returns by value, another new object is constructed for the return value:

T b = f(a);
  //^ new object constructed

Two new objects have been constructed, one of which is a temporary object that's only used for the duration of the function.

When the new object is created from the return value, the copy constructor is called to copy the contents of the temporary object to the new object b. After the function completes, the temporary object used in the function goes out of scope and is destroyed.

Now, let's consider what a copy constructor does.

It must first initialize the object, then copy all the relevant data from the old object to the new one.
Depending on the class, maybe its a container with very much data, then that could represent much time and memory usage

// Copy constructor
T::T(T &old) {
    copy_data(m_a, old.m_a);
    copy_data(m_b, old.m_b);
    copy_data(m_c, old.m_c);
}

With move semantics it's now possible to make most of this work less unpleasant by simply moving the data rather than copying.

// Move constructor
T::T(T &&old) noexcept {
    m_a = std::move(old.m_a);
    m_b = std::move(old.m_b);
    m_c = std::move(old.m_c);
}

Moving the data involves re-associating the data with the new object. And no copy takes place at all.

This is accomplished with an rvalue reference.
An rvalue reference works pretty much like an lvalue reference with one important difference:
an rvalue reference can be moved and an lvalue cannot.

From cppreference.com:

To make strong exception guarantee possible, user-defined move constructors should not throw exceptions. In fact, standard containers typically rely on std::move_if_noexcept to choose between move and copy when container elements need to be relocated. If both copy and move constructors are provided, overload resolution selects the move constructor if the argument is an rvalue (either a prvalue such as a nameless temporary or an xvalue such as the result of std::move), and selects the copy constructor if the argument is an lvalue (named object or a function/operator returning lvalue reference). If only the copy constructor is provided, all argument categories select it (as long as it takes a reference to const, since rvalues can bind to const references), which makes copying the fallback for moving, when moving is unavailable. In many situations, move constructors are optimized out even if they would produce observable side-effects, see copy elision. A constructor is called a 'move constructor' when it takes an rvalue reference as a parameter. It is not obligated to move anything, the class is not required to have a resource to be moved and a 'move constructor' may not be able to move a resource as in the allowable (but maybe not sensible) case where the parameter is a const rvalue reference (const T&&).

How do I do a Date comparison in Javascript?

JavaScript's dates can be compared using the same comparison operators the rest of the data types use: >, <, <=, >=, ==, !=, ===, !==.

If you have two dates A and B, then A < B if A is further back into the past than B.

But it sounds like what you're having trouble with is turning a string into a date. You do that by simply passing the string as an argument for a new Date:

var someDate = new Date("12/03/2008");

or, if the string you want is the value of a form field, as it seems it might be:

var someDate = new Date(document.form1.Textbox2.value);

Should that string not be something that JavaScript recognizes as a date, you will still get a Date object, but it will be "invalid". Any comparison with another date will return false. When converted to a string it will become "Invalid Date". Its getTime() function will return NaN, and calling isNaN() on the date itself will return true; that's the easy way to check if a string is a valid date.

How to check if element exists using a lambda expression?

While the accepted answer is correct, I'll add a more elegant version (in my opinion):

boolean idExists = tabPane.getTabs().stream()
    .map(Tab::getId)
    .anyMatch(idToCheck::equals);

Don't neglect using Stream#map() which allows to flatten the data structure before applying the Predicate.
