Programs & Examples On #Nsurlrequest

on iOS , NSURLRequest objects represent a URL load request in a manner independent of protocol and URL scheme. NSURLRequest encapsulates two basic data elements of a load request: the URL to load, and the policy to use when consulting the URL content cache made available by the implementation.

ZIP file content type for HTTP request

NSURLConnection Using iOS Swift

Check Below Codes :

1. SynchronousRequest

Swift 1.2

    let urlPath: String = "YOUR_URL_HERE"
    var url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    var request1: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    var response: AutoreleasingUnsafeMutablePointer<NSURLResponse?>=nil
    var dataVal: NSData = NSURLConnection.sendSynchronousRequest(request1, returningResponse: response, error:nil)!
    var err: NSError
    println(response)
    var jsonResult: NSDictionary = NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(dataVal, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers, error: &err) as? NSDictionary
    println("Synchronous\(jsonResult)")

Swift 2.0 +

let urlPath: String = "YOUR_URL_HERE"
    let url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    let request1: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    let response: AutoreleasingUnsafeMutablePointer<NSURLResponse?>=nil

    do{

        let dataVal = try NSURLConnection.sendSynchronousRequest(request1, returningResponse: response)

            print(response)
            do {
                if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(dataVal, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
                    print("Synchronous\(jsonResult)")
                }
            } catch let error as NSError {
                print(error.localizedDescription)
            }

    }catch let error as NSError
    {
         print(error.localizedDescription)
    }

2. AsynchonousRequest

Swift 1.2

let urlPath: String = "YOUR_URL_HERE"
    var url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    var request1: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    let queue:NSOperationQueue = NSOperationQueue()
    NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request1, queue: queue, completionHandler:{ (response: NSURLResponse!, data: NSData!, error: NSError!) -> Void in
        var err: NSError
        var jsonResult: NSDictionary = NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers, error: nil) as NSDictionary
        println("Asynchronous\(jsonResult)")
       })

Swift 2.0 +

let urlPath: String = "YOUR_URL_HERE"
    let url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    let request1: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    let queue:NSOperationQueue = NSOperationQueue()

    NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request1, queue: queue, completionHandler:{ (response: NSURLResponse?, data: NSData?, error: NSError?) -> Void in

        do {
            if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
                print("ASynchronous\(jsonResult)")
            }
        } catch let error as NSError {
            print(error.localizedDescription)
        }

    })

3. As usual URL connection

Swift 1.2

    var dataVal = NSMutableData()
    let urlPath: String = "YOUR URL HERE"
    var url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    var request: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    var connection: NSURLConnection = NSURLConnection(request: request, delegate: self, startImmediately: true)!
    connection.start()

Then

 func connection(connection: NSURLConnection!, didReceiveData data: NSData!){
    self.dataVal?.appendData(data)
}

func connectionDidFinishLoading(connection: NSURLConnection!)
{
    var error: NSErrorPointer=nil

    var jsonResult: NSDictionary = NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(dataVal!, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers, error: error) as NSDictionary

    println(jsonResult)

}

Swift 2.0 +

   var dataVal = NSMutableData()
    let urlPath: String = "YOUR URL HERE"
    var url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    var request: NSURLRequest = NSURLRequest(URL: url)
    var connection: NSURLConnection = NSURLConnection(request: request, delegate: self, startImmediately: true)!
    connection.start()

Then

func connection(connection: NSURLConnection!, didReceiveData data: NSData!){
    dataVal.appendData(data)
}

func connectionDidFinishLoading(connection: NSURLConnection!)
{

    do {
        if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(dataVal, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
            print(jsonResult)
        }
    } catch let error as NSError {
        print(error.localizedDescription)
    }

}

4. Asynchronous POST Request

let urlPath: String = "YOUR URL HERE"
    let url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    let request1: NSMutableURLRequest = NSMutableURLRequest(URL: url)

    request1.HTTPMethod = "POST"
    let stringPost="deviceToken=123456" // Key and Value

    let data = stringPost.dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding)

    request1.timeoutInterval = 60
    request1.HTTPBody=data
    request1.HTTPShouldHandleCookies=false

    let queue:NSOperationQueue = NSOperationQueue()

    NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request1, queue: queue, completionHandler:{ (response: NSURLResponse?, data: NSData?, error: NSError?) -> Void in

        do {
            if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
                print("ASynchronous\(jsonResult)")
            }
        } catch let error as NSError {
            print(error.localizedDescription)
        }

    })

5. Asynchronous GET Request

Swift 1.2

    let urlPath: String = "YOUR URL HERE"
    var url: NSURL = NSURL(string: urlPath)!
    var request1: NSMutableURLRequest = NSMutableURLRequest(URL: url)

    request1.HTTPMethod = "GET"
    request1.timeoutInterval = 60
    let queue:NSOperationQueue = NSOperationQueue()

     NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request1, queue: queue, completionHandler:{ (response: NSURLResponse!, data: NSData!, error: NSError!) -> Void in

        var err: NSError

        var jsonResult: NSDictionary = NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers, error: nil) as NSDictionary

    let queue:NSOperationQueue = NSOperationQueue()

    NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request1, queue: queue, completionHandler:{ (response: NSURLResponse?, data: NSData?, error: NSError?) -> Void in

        do {
            if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
                print("ASynchronous\(jsonResult)")
            }
        } catch let error as NSError {
            print(error.localizedDescription)
        }

    })

6. Image(File) Upload

Swift 2.0 +

  let mainURL = "YOUR_URL_HERE"

    let url = NSURL(string: mainURL)
    let request = NSMutableURLRequest(URL: url!)
    let boundary = "78876565564454554547676"
    request.addValue("multipart/form-data; boundary=\(boundary)", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")

    request.HTTPMethod = "POST" // POST OR PUT What you want
    let session = NSURLSession(configuration:NSURLSessionConfiguration.defaultSessionConfiguration(), delegate: nil, delegateQueue: nil)

    let imageData = UIImageJPEGRepresentation(UIImage(named: "Test.jpeg")!, 1)

    var body = NSMutableData()

    body.appendData("--\(boundary)\r\n".dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding)!)

    body.appendData(imageData!)
    body.appendData("\r\n".dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding)!)

    body.appendData("--\(boundary)--\r\n".dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding)!)

    request.HTTPBody = body

    let dataTask = session.dataTaskWithRequest(request) { (data, response, error) -> Void in

        if error != nil {

            //handle error

        }
        else {

            let outputString : NSString = NSString(data:data!, encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding)!
            print("Response:\(outputString)")

        }
    }
    dataTask.resume()

7. GET,POST,Etc Swift 3.0 +

request.httpMethod = "POST" // POST ,GET, PUT What you want

let session = URLSession.shared

  let dataTask = session.dataTask(with: request as URLRequest) {data,response,error in

do {
            if let jsonResult = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: []) as? NSDictionary {
                print("ASynchronous\(jsonResult)")
            }
        } catch let error as NSError {
            print(error.localizedDescription)
        }

    }
    dataTask.resume()

How to send json data in the Http request using NSURLRequest

Here's an updated example that is using NSURLConnection +sendAsynchronousRequest: (10.7+, iOS 5+), The "Post" request remains the same as with the accepted answer and is omitted here for the sake of clarity:

NSURL *apiURL = [NSURL URLWithString:
    [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myserver.com/api/api.php?request=%@", @"someRequest"]];
NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:apiURL]; // this is using GET, for POST examples see the other answers here on this page
[NSURLConnection sendAsynchronousRequest:request
                                   queue:[NSOperationQueue mainQueue]
                       completionHandler:^(NSURLResponse *response, NSData *data, NSError *connectionError) {
     if(data.length) {
         NSString *responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
         if(responseString && responseString.length) {
             NSLog(@"%@", responseString);
         }
     }
}];

Swift GET request with parameters

You can extend your Dictionary to only provide stringFromHttpParameter if both key and value conform to CustomStringConvertable like this

extension Dictionary where Key : CustomStringConvertible, Value : CustomStringConvertible {
  func stringFromHttpParameters() -> String {
    var parametersString = ""
    for (key, value) in self {
      parametersString += key.description + "=" + value.description + "&"
    }
    return parametersString
  }
}

this is much cleaner and prevents accidental calls to stringFromHttpParameters on dictionaries that have no business calling that method

Append data to a POST NSURLRequest

 NSURL *url= [NSURL URLWithString:@"https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr"];
 NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:aUrl
                                                        cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy
                                                    timeoutInterval:10.0];
[request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"];
 NSString *postString = @"userId=2323";
[request setHTTPBody:[postString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]];

Getting Raw XML From SOAPMessage in Java

How to convert int to date in SQL Server 2008

You can't convert an integer value straight to a date but you can first it to a datetime then to a date type

select cast(40835 as datetime)

and then convert to a date (SQL 2008)

select cast(cast(40835 as datetime) as date)

Run jar file with command line arguments

For the question

How can i run a jar file in command prompt but with arguments

.

To pass arguments to the jar file at the time of execution

java -jar myjar.jar arg1 arg2

In the main() method of "Main-Class" [mentioned in the manifest.mft file]of your JAR file. you can retrieve them like this:

String arg1 = args[0];
String arg2 = args[1];

how to redirect to home page

window.location = '/';

Should usually do the trick, but it depends on your sites directories. This will work for your example

How do I POST XML data to a webservice with Postman?

Send XML requests with the raw data type, then set the Content-Type to text/xml.

  1. After creating a request, use the dropdown to change the request type to POST.

    Set request type to POST

  2. Open the Body tab and check the data type for raw.

    Setting data type to raw

  3. Open the Content-Type selection box that appears to the right and select either XML (application/xml) or XML (text/xml)

    Selecting content-type text/xml

  4. Enter your raw XML data into the input field below

Use of def, val, and var in scala

I'd start by the distinction that exists in Scala between def, val and var.

  • def - defines an immutable label for the right side content which is lazily evaluated - evaluate by name.

  • val - defines an immutable label for the right side content which is eagerly/immediately evaluated - evaluated by value.

  • var - defines a mutable variable, initially set to the evaluated right side content.

Example, def

scala> def something = 2 + 3 * 4
something: Int
scala> something // now it's evaluated, lazily upon usage
res30: Int = 14

Example, val

scala> val somethingelse = 2 + 3 * 5 // it's evaluated, eagerly upon definition
somethingelse: Int = 17

Example, var

scala> var aVariable = 2 * 3
aVariable: Int = 6

scala> aVariable = 5
aVariable: Int = 5

According to above, labels from def and val cannot be reassigned, and in case of any attempt an error like the below one will be raised:

scala> something = 5 * 6
<console>:8: error: value something_= is not a member of object $iw
       something = 5 * 6
       ^

When the class is defined like:

scala> class Person(val name: String, var age: Int)
defined class Person

and then instantiated with:

scala> def personA = new Person("Tim", 25)
personA: Person

an immutable label is created for that specific instance of Person (i.e. 'personA'). Whenever the mutable field 'age' needs to be modified, such attempt fails:

scala> personA.age = 44
personA.age: Int = 25

as expected, 'age' is part of a non-mutable label. The correct way to work on this consists in using a mutable variable, like in the following example:

scala> var personB = new Person("Matt", 36)
personB: Person = Person@59cd11fe

scala> personB.age = 44
personB.age: Int = 44    // value re-assigned, as expected

as clear, from the mutable variable reference (i.e. 'personB') it is possible to modify the class mutable field 'age'.

I would still stress the fact that everything comes from the above stated difference, that has to be clear in mind of any Scala programmer.

ADB server version (36) doesn't match this client (39) {Not using Genymotion}

I had the same error. In my case, using Appium, I had two versions of ADB

$ /usr/local/bin/adb version 36

and

$ /Users/user/Library/Android/sdk/platform-tools/adb version 39

The solution was:

  1. be sure that your $PATH in bash_profile is pointing to: /Users/user/Library/Android/sdk/platform-tools/

  2. stop the adb server: adb kill-server and check Appium is stopped.

  3. delete the adb version 36 (or you can rename it to have a backup): rm /usr/local/bin/adb

  4. start adb server: adb start-server or just starting Appium

I don't think you can. You may need to use an Iframe instead.

How to POST using HTTPclient content type = application/x-www-form-urlencoded

The best solution for me is:

// Add key/value
var dict = new Dictionary<string, string>();
dict.Add("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");

// Execute post method
using (var response = httpClient.PostAsync(path, new FormUrlEncodedContent(dict))){}

How can I list all tags for a Docker image on a remote registry?

If you want to use the docker registry v2 API, it lists tags by pages. To list all the tags of an image, you may would like to add a large page_size parameter to the url, e.g.

curl -L -s 'https://registry.hub.docker.com/v2/repositories/library/centos/tags?page_size=1024'|jq '."results"[]["name"]'

How do I request and receive user input in a .bat and use it to run a certain program?

If the input is, say, N, your IF lines evaluate like this:

If N=="y" goto yes
If N=="n" goto no
…

That is, you are comparing N with "y", then "n" etc. including "N". You are never going to get a match unless the user somehow decides to input "N" or "y" (i.e. either of the four characters, but enclosed in double quotes).

So you need either to remove " from around y, n, Y and N or put them around %INPUT% in your conditional statements. I would recommend the latter, because that way you would be escaping at least some of the characters that have special meaning in batch scripts (if the user managed to type them in). So, this is what you should get:

If "%INPUT%"=="y" goto yes
If "%INPUT%"=="n" goto no
If "%INPUT%"=="Y" goto yes
If "%INPUT%"=="N" goto no

By the way, you could reduce the number of conditions by applying the /I switch to the IF statement, like this:

If /I "%INPUT%"=="y" goto yes
If /I "%INPUT%"=="n" goto no

The /I switch makes the comparisons case-insensitive, and so you don't need separate checks for different-case strings.

One other issue is that, after the development mode command is executed, there's no jumping over the other command, and so, if the user agrees to run Java in the development mode, he'll get it run both in the development mode and the non-development mode. So maybe you need to add something like this to your script:

...
:yes
java -jar lib/RSBot-4030.jar -dev
echo Starting RSbot in developer mode
goto cont
:no
java -jar lib/RSBot-4030.jar
echo Starting RSbot in regular mode
:cont
pause

Finally, to address the issue of processing incorrect input, you could simply add another (unconditional) goto command just after the conditional statements, just before the yes label, namely goto Ask, to return to the beginning of your script where the prompt is displayed and the input is requested, or you could also add another ECHO command before the jump, explaining that the input was incorrect, something like this:

@echo off
:Ask
echo Would you like to use developer mode?(Y/N)
set INPUT=
set /P INPUT=Type input: %=%
If /I "%INPUT%"=="y" goto yes
If /I "%INPUT%"=="n" goto no
echo Incorrect input & goto Ask
:yes
...

Note: Some of the issues mentioned here have also been addressed by @xmjx in their answer, which I fully acknowledge.

what is Promotional and Feature graphic in Android Market/Play Store?

It's here http://www.android.com/market/featured.html Weirdly, you don't get to that page if you start from the android market and hit "featured". Mary

Oracle PL Sql Developer cannot find my tnsnames.ora file

If you are certain your tnsnames.ora file is correct (eg by testing the connection with the Oracle Net Config Assistant, or logging in successfully with SQLplus), and you are able to open the PLSQL Developer application, but you still can't connect to the database in PLSQL Developer, then follow these steps:

  1. In PLSQL Developer (version 11.0) go to Help/Support Info

  2. Click the TNS Names tab. If the path in PLSQL Developer is wrong it will be blank (no tns file found) or incorrect (wrong tns file in use)

  3. On the Info tab scroll down to the TNS File entry and to see the path for the tns file PLSQL Developer is using. Very likely this is wrong.

  4. To correct the path:

    • open a command prompt
    • navigate to the PLSQL Developer directory in Program Files
    • enter this command:

      plsqldev.exe TNS_ADMIN=c:\your\tns\directory\path\here

    *path is to the directory containing your tnsnames.ora file - for me this is: c:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin

  5. A new PLSQL Developer UI will open and you should be able to connect.

  6. Make sure you have a Windows environment variable TNS_ADMIN set to the same path

    • On Windows 7 you go to Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Environment Variables to view/add/update environment variables

Java HashMap: How to get a key and value by index?

You can iterate over keys by calling map.keySet(), or iterate over the entries by calling map.entrySet(). Iterating over entries will probably be faster.

for (Map.Entry<String, List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) {
    List<String> list = entry.getValue();
    // Do things with the list
}

If you want to ensure that you iterate over the keys in the same order you inserted them then use a LinkedHashMap.

By the way, I'd recommend changing the declared type of the map to <String, List<String>>. Always best to declare types in terms of the interface rather than the implementation.

Java Delegates?

I know this post is old, but Java 8 has added lambdas, and the concept of a functional interface, which is any interface with only one method. Together these offer similar functionality to C# delegates. See here for more info, or just google Java Lambdas. http://cr.openjdk.java.net/~briangoetz/lambda/lambda-state-final.html

How to use SearchView in Toolbar Android

Implementing the SearchView without the use of the menu.xml file and open through button

In your Activity we need to use the method of the onCreateOptionsMenumethod in which we will programmatically inflate the SearchView

private MenuItem searchMenu;
private String mSearchString="";

@Override
    public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
        super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu);

        SearchManager searchManager = (SearchManager) StoreActivity.this.getSystemService(Context.SEARCH_SERVICE);

        SearchView mSearchView = new SearchView(getSupportActionBar().getThemedContext());
        mSearchView.setQueryHint(getString(R.string.prompt_search)); /// YOUR HINT MESSAGE
        mSearchView.setMaxWidth(Integer.MAX_VALUE);

        searchMenu = menu.add("searchMenu").setVisible(false).setActionView(mSearchView);
        searchMenu.setShowAsAction(MenuItem.SHOW_AS_ACTION_IF_ROOM | MenuItem.SHOW_AS_ACTION_COLLAPSE_ACTION_VIEW);

        assert searchManager != null;
        mSearchView.setSearchableInfo(searchManager.getSearchableInfo(getComponentName()));
        mSearchView.setIconifiedByDefault(false);

        SearchView.OnQueryTextListener queryTextListener = new SearchView.OnQueryTextListener() {
            public boolean onQueryTextChange(String newText) {
                mSearchString = newText;

                return true;
            }

            public boolean onQueryTextSubmit(String query) {
                mSearchString = query;

                searchMenu.collapseActionView();

                return true;
            }
        };

        mSearchView.setOnQueryTextListener(queryTextListener);

        return true;
    }

And in your Activity class, you can open the SearchView on any button click on toolbar like below

YOUR_BUTTON.setOnClickListener(view -> {

            searchMenu.expandActionView();

        });

What is the difference between a database and a data warehouse?

The simplest way to explain it would be to say that a data warehouse consists of more than just a database. A database is an collection of data organized in some way, but a data warehouse is organized specifically to "facilitate reporting and analysis". This however is not the entire story as data warehousing also contains "the means to retrieve and analyze data, to extract, transform and load data, and to manage the data dictionary are also considered essential components of a data warehousing system".

How to install SQL Server Management Studio 2008 component only

The accepted answer was correct up until July 2011. To get the latest version, including the Service Pack you should find the latest version as described here:

For example, if you check the SP2 CTP and SP1, you'll find the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio under SP1:

Download the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) version of the SQLManagementStudio*.exe files as appropriate and install it. You can find out whether your system is 32-bit or 64-bit by right clicking Computer, selecting Properties and looking at the System Type.

Although you could apply the service pack to the base version that results from following the accepted answer, it's easier to just download the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio and simply install it in one step.

How to Retrieve value from JTextField in Java Swing?

How do we retrieve a value from a text field?

mytestField.getText();

    textArea.append(text + newline);
    textField.selectAll();
}

How do you uninstall the package manager "pip", if installed from source?

That way you haven't installed pip, you installed just the easy_install i.e. setuptools.

First you should remove all the packages you installed with easy_install using (see uninstall):

easy_install -m PackageName

This includes pip if you installed it using easy_install pip.

After this you remove the setuptools following the instructions from here:

If setuptools package is found in your global site-packages directory, you may safely remove the following file/directory:

setuptools-*.egg

If setuptools is installed in some other location such as the user site directory (eg: ~/.local, ~/Library/Python or %APPDATA%), then you may safely remove the following files:

pkg_resources.py
easy_install.py
setuptools/
setuptools-*.egg-info/

How to make vim paste from (and copy to) system's clipboard?

It may also be worth mentioning, on OSX using Vim, you can select text with the mouse, Cmd-C to copy to OSX system clipboard, and the copied text will be available in the clipboard outside of Vim.

In other words, OSX treats it like it were a regular window, and this is where the much-maligned Apple "Command" button comes in handy.

if-else statement inside jsx: ReactJS

You can't provide if-else condition in the return block, make use of ternary block, also this.state will be an object, you shouldn't be comparing it with a value, see which state value you want to check, also return returns only one element, make sure to wrap them in a View

render() {
    return (
      <View style={styles.container}>
      {this.state.page === 'news'? <Text>data</Text>: null}
      </View>

     )
}

How do I change the background color of a plot made with ggplot2

Here's a custom theme to make the ggplot2 background white and a bunch of other changes that's good for publications and posters. Just tack on +mytheme. If you want to add or change options by +theme after +mytheme, it will just replace those options from +mytheme.

library(ggplot2)
library(cowplot)
theme_set(theme_cowplot())

mytheme = list(
    theme_classic()+
        theme(panel.background = element_blank(),strip.background = element_rect(colour=NA, fill=NA),panel.border = element_rect(fill = NA, color = "black"),
              legend.title = element_blank(),legend.position="bottom", strip.text = element_text(face="bold", size=9),
              axis.text=element_text(face="bold"),axis.title = element_text(face="bold"),plot.title = element_text(face = "bold", hjust = 0.5,size=13))
)

ggplot(data=data.frame(a=c(1,2,3), b=c(2,3,4)), aes(x=a, y=b)) + mytheme + geom_line()

How to open local files in Swagger-UI

Instead of opening swagger ui as a file - you put into browser file:///D:/swagger-ui/dist/index.html you can: create iis virtual directory which enables browsing and points to D:/swagger-ui

  1. open mmc, add iis services, expand Default Web Site add virtual directory, put alias: swagger-ui, physical path:(your path...) D:/swagger-ui
  2. in mmc in the middle pane double click on "directory browsing"
  3. in mmc in the right pane click "enable"
  4. after that in browser put url to open your local swagger-ui http://localhost/swagger-ui/dist/
  5. now you can use ../my.json if you copied file into dist folder or you can created separate forlder for samples, say D:/swagger-ui/samples and use ../samples/my.json or http://localhost/swagger-ui/samples/my.json

Simulate a button click in Jest

#1 Using Jest

This is how I use the Jest mock callback function to test the click event:

import React from 'react';
import { shallow } from 'enzyme';
import Button from './Button';

describe('Test Button component', () => {
  it('Test click event', () => {
    const mockCallBack = jest.fn();

    const button = shallow((<Button onClick={mockCallBack}>Ok!</Button>));
    button.find('button').simulate('click');
    expect(mockCallBack.mock.calls.length).toEqual(1);
  });
});

I am also using a module called enzyme. Enzyme is a testing utility that makes it easier to assert and select your React Components

#2 Using Sinon

Also, you can use another module called Sinon which is a standalone test spy, stubs and mocks for JavaScript. This is how it looks:

import React from 'react';
import { shallow } from 'enzyme';
import sinon from 'sinon';

import Button from './Button';

describe('Test Button component', () => {
  it('simulates click events', () => {
    const mockCallBack = sinon.spy();
    const button = shallow((<Button onClick={mockCallBack}>Ok!</Button>));

    button.find('button').simulate('click');
    expect(mockCallBack).toHaveProperty('callCount', 1);
  });
});

#3 Using Your own Spy

Finally, you can make your own naive spy (I don't recommend this approach unless you have a valid reason for that).

function MySpy() {
  this.calls = 0;
}

MySpy.prototype.fn = function () {
  return () => this.calls++;
}

it('Test Button component', () => {
  const mySpy = new MySpy();
  const mockCallBack = mySpy.fn();

  const button = shallow((<Button onClick={mockCallBack}>Ok!</Button>));

  button.find('button').simulate('click');
  expect(mySpy.calls).toEqual(1);
});

C# Timer or Thread.Sleep

A timer is a better idea, IMO. That way, if your service is asked to stop, it can respond to that very quickly, and just not call the timer tick handler again... if you're sleeping, the service manager will either have to wait 50 seconds or kill your thread, neither of which is terribly nice.

How can I catch all the exceptions that will be thrown through reading and writing a file?

Do you mean catch an Exception of any type that is thrown, as opposed to just specific Exceptions?

If so:

try {
   //...file IO...
} catch(Exception e) {
   //...do stuff with e, such as check its type or log it...
}

Difference between static memory allocation and dynamic memory allocation

Static memory allocation. Memory allocated will be in stack.

int a[10];

Dynamic memory allocation. Memory allocated will be in heap.

int *a = malloc(sizeof(int) * 10);

and the latter should be freed since there is no Garbage Collector(GC) in C.

free(a);

jquery dialog save cancel button styling

I have JQuery UI 1.8.11 version and this is my working code. You can also customize its height and width depending on your requirements.

$("#divMain").dialog({
    modal:true,
    autoOpen: false,
    maxWidth: 500,
    maxHeight: 300,
    width: 500,
    height: 300,
    title: "Customize Dialog",
        buttons: {
            "SAVE": function () {
                //Add your functionalities here
            },
            "Cancel": function () {
                $(this).dialog("close");
            }
        },
        close: function () {}
});

How to declare a structure in a header that is to be used by multiple files in c?

For a structure definition that is to be used across more than one source file, you should definitely put it in a header file. Then include that header file in any source file that needs the structure.

The extern declaration is not used for structure definitions, but is instead used for variable declarations (that is, some data value with a structure type that you have defined). If you want to use the same variable across more than one source file, declare it as extern in a header file like:

extern struct a myAValue;

Then, in one source file, define the actual variable:

struct a myAValue;

If you forget to do this or accidentally define it in two source files, the linker will let you know about this.

Is a URL allowed to contain a space?

Why does it have to be encoded? A request looks like this:

GET /url HTTP/1.1
(Ignoring headers)

There are 3 fields separated by a white space. If you put a space in your url:

GET /url end_url HTTP/1.1

You know have 4 fields, the HTTP server will tell you it is an invalid request.

GET /url%20end_url HTTP/1.1

3 fields => valid

Note: in the query string (after ?), a space is usually encoded as a +

GET /url?var=foo+bar HTTP/1.1

rather than

GET /url?var=foo%20bar HTTP/1.1

How can I execute a python script from an html button?

Best way is to Use a Python Web Frame Work you can choose Django/Flask. I will suggest you to Use Django because it's more powerful. Here is Step by guide to get complete your task :

pip install django
django-admin createproject buttonpython

then you have to create a file name views.py in buttonpython directory.

write below code in views.py:

from django.http import HttpResponse

def sample(request):
    #your python script code
    output=code output
    return HttpResponse(output)

Once done navigate to urls.py and add this stanza

from . import views

path('', include('blog.urls')),

Now go to parent directory and execute manage.py

python manage.py runserver 127.0.0.1:8001

Step by Step Guide in Detail: Run Python script on clicking HTML button

Is there a shortcut to make a block comment in Xcode?

@Nikola Milicevic

Here is the screenshot of the indentation issue. This is very minor, but it is strange that it seems to work so well, in your example visual.

I am also adding a screenshot of my Automator set-up...

Thanks

How can I solve Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException error

This is the problem

double a[] = null;

Since a is null, NullPointerException will arise every time you use it until you initialize it. So this:

a[i] = var;

will fail.

A possible solution would be initialize it when declaring it:

double a[] = new double[PUT_A_LENGTH_HERE]; //seems like this constant should be 7

IMO more important than solving this exception, is the fact that you should learn to read the stacktrace and understand what it says, so you could detect the problems and solve it.

java.lang.NullPointerException

This exception means there's a variable with null value being used. How to solve? Just make sure the variable is not null before being used.

at twoten.TwoTenB.(TwoTenB.java:29)

This line has two parts:

  • First, shows the class and method where the error was thrown. In this case, it was at <init> method in class TwoTenB declared in package twoten. When you encounter an error message with SomeClassName.<init>, means the error was thrown while creating a new instance of the class e.g. executing the constructor (in this case that seems to be the problem).
  • Secondly, shows the file and line number location where the error is thrown, which is between parenthesis. This way is easier to spot where the error arose. So you have to look into file TwoTenB.java, line number 29. This seems to be a[i] = var;.

From this line, other lines will be similar to tell you where the error arose. So when reading this:

at javapractice.JavaPractice.main(JavaPractice.java:32)

It means that you were trying to instantiate a TwoTenB object reference inside the main method of your class JavaPractice declared in javapractice package.

Remove Item in Dictionary based on Value

You can use the following as extension method

 public static void RemoveByValue<T,T1>(this Dictionary<T,T1> src , T1 Value)
    {
        foreach (var item in src.Where(kvp => kvp.Value.Equals( Value)).ToList())
        {
            src.Remove(item.Key);
        }
    }

Compare two objects' properties to find differences?

Sure you can with reflection. Here is the code to grab the properties off of a given type.

var info = typeof(SomeType).GetProperties();

If you can give more info on what you're comparing about the properties we can get together a basic diffing algorithmn. This code for intstance will diff on names

public bool AreDifferent(Type t1, Type t2) {
  var list1 = t1.GetProperties().OrderBy(x => x.Name).Select(x => x.Name);
  var list2 = t2.GetProperties().OrderBy(x => x.Name).Select(x => x.Name);
  return list1.SequenceEqual(list2);
}

Is there a performance difference between a for loop and a for-each loop?

The for-each loop should generally be preferred. The "get" approach may be slower if the List implementation you are using does not support random access. For example, if a LinkedList is used, you would incur a traversal cost, whereas the for-each approach uses an iterator that keeps track of its position in the list. More information on the nuances of the for-each loop.

Getting a UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning when testing using mocha/chai

For those who are looking for the error/warning UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning outside of a testing environment, It could be probably because nobody in the code is taking care of the eventual error in a promise:

For instance, this code will show the warning reported in this question:

new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
  return reject('Error reason!');
});

(node:XXXX) UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning: Unhandled promise rejection (rejection id: 1): Error: Error reason!

and adding the .catch() or handling the error should solve the warning/error

new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
  return reject('Error reason!');
}).catch(() => { /* do whatever you want here */ });

Or using the second parameter in the then function

new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
  return reject('Error reason!');
}).then(null, () => { /* do whatever you want here */ });

Standard way to embed version into python package?

Not directly an answer to your question, but you should consider naming it __version__, not version.

This is almost a quasi-standard. Many modules in the standard library use __version__, and this is also used in lots of 3rd-party modules, so it's the quasi-standard.

Usually, __version__ is a string, but sometimes it's also a float or tuple.

Edit: as mentioned by S.Lott (Thank you!), PEP 8 says it explicitly:

Module Level Dunder Names

Module level "dunders" (i.e. names with two leading and two trailing underscores) such as __all__, __author__, __version__, etc. should be placed after the module docstring but before any import statements except from __future__ imports.

You should also make sure that the version number conforms to the format described in PEP 440 (PEP 386 a previous version of this standard).

What is the canonical way to trim a string in Ruby without creating a new string?

If you want to use another method after you need something like this:

( str.strip || str ).split(',')

This way you can strip and still do something after :)

How to alter a column and change the default value?

As a follow up, if you just want to set a default, pretty sure you can use the ALTER .. SET syntax. Just don't put all the other stuff in there. If you're gonna put the rest of the column definition in, use the MODIFY or CHANGE syntax as per the accepted answer.

Anyway, the ALTER syntax for setting a column default, (since that's what I was looking for when I came here):

ALTER TABLE table_name ALTER COLUMN column_name SET DEFAULT 'literal';

For which 'literal' could also be a number (e.g. ...SET DEFAULT 0). I haven't tried it with ...SET DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP but why not eh?

Send and Receive a file in socket programming in Linux with C/C++ (GCC/G++)

Minimal runnable POSIX read + write example

Usage:

  1. get two computers on a LAN.

    For example, this will work if both computers are connected to your home router in most cases, which is how I tested it.

  2. On the server computer:

    1. Find the server local IP with ifconfig, e.g. 192.168.0.10

    2. Run:

      ./server output.tmp 12345

  3. On the client computer:

    printf 'ab\ncd\n' > input.tmp
    ./client input.tmp 192.168.0.10 12345

  4. Outcome: a file output.tmp is created on the sever computer containing 'ab\ncd\n'!

Further comments

Possible improvements:

  • Currently output.tmp gets overwritten each time a send is done.

    This begs for the creation of a simple protocol that allows to pass a filename so that multiple files can be uploaded, e.g.: filename up to the first newline character, max filename 256 chars, and the rest until socket closure are the contents. Of course, that would require sanitation to avoid a path transversal vulnerability.

    Alternatively, we could make a server that hashes the files to find filenames, and keeps a map from original paths to hashes on disk (on a database).

  • Only one client can connect at a time.

    This is specially harmful if there are slow clients whose connections last for a long time: the slow connection halts everyone down.

    One way to work around that is to fork a process / thread for each accept, start listening again immediately, and use file lock synchronization on the files.

  • Add timeouts, and close clients if they take too long. Or else it would be easy to do a DoS.

What is the volatile keyword useful for?

No one has mentioned the treatment of read and write operation for long and double variable type. Reads and writes are atomic operations for reference variables and for most primitive variables, except for long and double variable types, which must use the volatile keyword to be atomic operations. @link

How to limit the number of selected checkboxes?

Using change event you can do something like this:

var limit = 3;
$('input.single-checkbox').on('change', function(evt) {
   if($(this).siblings(':checked').length >= limit) {
       this.checked = false;
   }
});

How do I programmatically force an onchange event on an input?

If you add all your events with this snippet of code:

//put this somewhere in your JavaScript:
HTMLElement.prototype.addEvent = function(event, callback){
  if(!this.events)this.events = {};
  if(!this.events[event]){
    this.events[event] = [];
    var element = this;
    this['on'+event] = function(e){
      var events = element.events[event];
      for(var i=0;i<events.length;i++){
        events[i](e||event);
      }
    }
  }
  this.events[event].push(callback);
}
//use like this:
element.addEvent('change', function(e){...});

then you can just use element.on<EVENTNAME>() where <EVENTNAME> is the name of your event, and that will call all events with <EVENTNAME>

Spark SQL: apply aggregate functions to a list of columns

Current answers are perfectly correct on how to create the aggregations, but none actually address the column alias/renaming that is also requested in the question.

Typically, this is how I handle this case:

val dimensionFields = List("col1")
val metrics = List("col2", "col3", "col4")
val columnOfInterests = dimensions ++ metrics

val df = spark.read.table("some_table").
    .select(columnOfInterests.map(c => col(c)):_*)
    .groupBy(dimensions.map(d => col(d)): _*)
    .agg(metrics.map( m => m -> "sum").toMap)
    .toDF(columnOfInterests:_*)    // that's the interesting part

The last line essentially renames every columns of the aggregated dataframe to the original fields, essentially changing sum(col2) and sum(col3) to simply col2 and col3.

Is Android using NTP to sync time?

Not an exact answer to your question, but a bit of information: if your device does use NTP for time (eg. if it is a tablet with no 3G or GPS capabilities), the server can be configured in /system/etc/gps.conf - obviously this file can only be edited with root access, but is viewable on non-rooted devices.

Input type number "only numeric value" validation

Sometimes it is just easier to try something simple like this.

validateNumber(control: FormControl): { [s: string]: boolean } {

  //revised to reflect null as an acceptable value
  if (control.value === null) return null;

  // check to see if the control value is no a number
  if (isNaN(control.value)) {
    return { 'NaN': true };
  }

  return null;
}

Hope this helps.

updated as per comment, You need to to call the validator like this

number: new FormControl('',[this.validateNumber.bind(this)])

The bind(this) is necessary if you are putting the validator in the component which is how I do it.

SQLException: No suitable driver found for jdbc:derby://localhost:1527

Encountered the same problem. I was doing something like:

connect 'jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/~/databases/db1'

Replacing the path with the absolute path fixed this problem:

connect 'jdbc:derby://localhost:1527//Users/ayush99/databases/db1'.

In summary: Avoid using ~ or any such variables in the path of existing database.

how to get value of selected item in autocomplete

When autocomplete changes a value, it fires a autocompletechange event, not the change event

$(document).ready(function () {
    $('#tags').on('autocompletechange change', function () {
        $('#tagsname').html('You selected: ' + this.value);
    }).change();
});

Demo: Fiddle

Another solution is to use select event, because the change event is triggered only when the input is blurred

$(document).ready(function () {
    $('#tags').on('change', function () {
        $('#tagsname').html('You selected: ' + this.value);
    }).change();
    $('#tags').on('autocompleteselect', function (e, ui) {
        $('#tagsname').html('You selected: ' + ui.item.value);
    });
});

Note: This solution is outdated. It only works on Android devices up to 5.1. Android 6.0 and above do not include the Apache http client used in this answer.

Http Client from Apache Commons is the way to go. It is already included in android. Here's a simple example of how to do HTTP Post using it.

public void postData() {
    // Create a new HttpClient and Post Header
    HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();
    HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://www.yoursite.com/script.php");

    try {
        // Add your data
        List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(2);
        nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("id", "12345"));
        nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringdata", "Hi"));
        httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs));

        // Execute HTTP Post Request
        HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost);

    } catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
        // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    } catch (IOException e) {
        // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    }

GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM problem when working with terminal and MacFusion

Coming here from first Google hit:

You can turn off the behavior AND and warning by exporting GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM=1.

On heroku, if you heroku config:set GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM=1 the warning will go away.

It's probably because you are building a gem from source and the gemspec shells out to git, like many do today. So, you'll still get the warning fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git but addressing that is for another day :)

My answer is a duplicate of: - comment GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM problem when working with terminal and MacFusion

Reverse of JSON.stringify?

$("#save").click(function () {
    debugger
    var xx = [];
    var dd = { "firstname": "", "lastname": "", "address": "" };
    var otable1 = $("#table1").dataTable().fnGetData();

    for (var i = 0; i < otable1.length; i++) {
        dd.firstname = otable1[i][0];
        dd.lastname = otable1[i][1];
        dd.address = otable1[i][2];
        xx.push(dd);
        var dd = { "firstname": "", "lastname": "", "address": "" };
    }
    JSON.stringify(alert(xx));
    $.ajax({

        url: '../Home/save',
        type: 'POST',
        data: JSON.stringify({ u: xx }),
        contentType: 'application/json;',
        dataType: 'json',
        success: function (event) {
            alert(event);
            $("#table2").dataTable().fnDraw();
            location.reload();
        }

How should I resolve java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: protocol = https host = null Exception?

This code seems completely unnecessary:

String serverURLS = getRecipientURL(message);

serverURLS = "https:\\\\abc.my.domain.com:55555\\update";

if (serverURLS != null){
    serverURL = new URL(serverURLS);
}
  1. serverURLS is assigned the result of getRecipientURL(message)
  2. Then immediately you overwrite the value of serverURLS, making the previous statement a dead store
  3. Then, because if (serverURLS != null) evaluates to true, since you just assigned the variable a value in the preceding statement, you assign a value to serverURL. It is impossible for if (serverURLS != null) to evaluate to false!
  4. You never actually use the variable serverURLS beyond the previous line of code.

You could replace all of this with just:

serverURL = new URL("https:\\\\abc.my.domain.com:55555\\update");

How do I get the value of text input field using JavaScript?

One can use the form.elements to get all elements in a form. If an element has id it can be found with .namedItem("id"). Example:

var myForm = document.getElementById("form1");
var text = myForm.elements.namedItem("searchTxt").value;
var url = "http://www.myurl.com/search/" + text;

How to remove Left property when position: absolute?

left:auto;

This will default the left back to the browser default.

So if you have your Markup/CSS as:

<div class="myClass"></div>

.myClass
{
  position:absolute;
  left:0;
}

When setting RTL, you could change to:

<div class="myClass rtl"></div>

.myClass
{
  position:absolute;
  left:0;
}
.myClass.rtl
{
  left:auto;
  right:0;
}

Object Required Error in excel VBA

The Set statement is only used for object variables (like Range, Cell or Worksheet in Excel), while the simple equal sign '=' is used for elementary datatypes like Integer. You can find a good explanation for when to use set here.

The other problem is, that your variable g1val isn't actually declared as Integer, but has the type Variant. This is because the Dim statement doesn't work the way you would expect it, here (see example below). The variable has to be followed by its type right away, otherwise its type will default to Variant. You can only shorten your Dim statement this way:

Dim intColumn As Integer, intRow As Integer 'This creates two integers

For this reason, you will see the "Empty" instead of the expected "0" in the Watches window.

Try this example to understand the difference:

Sub Dimming()

  Dim thisBecomesVariant, thisIsAnInteger As Integer
  Dim integerOne As Integer, integerTwo As Integer

  MsgBox TypeName(thisBecomesVariant)  'Will display "Empty"
  MsgBox TypeName(thisIsAnInteger ) 'Will display "Integer"
  MsgBox TypeName(integerOne ) 'Will display "Integer"
  MsgBox TypeName(integerTwo ) 'Will display "Integer"

  'By assigning an Integer value to a Variant it becomes Integer, too
  thisBecomesVariant = 0
  MsgBox TypeName(thisBecomesVariant)  'Will display "Integer"

End Sub

Two further notices on your code:

First remark: Instead of writing

'If g1val is bigger than the value in the current cell
If g1val > Cells(33, i).Value Then
  g1val = g1val   'Don't change g1val
Else
  g1val = Cells(33, i).Value  'Otherwise set g1val to the cell's value
End If

you could simply write

'If g1val is smaller or equal than the value in the current cell
If g1val <= Cells(33, i).Value Then
  g1val = Cells(33, i).Value  'Set g1val to the cell's value
End If

Since you don't want to change g1val in the other case.

Second remark: I encourage you to use Option Explicit when programming, to prevent typos in your program. You will then have to declare all variables and the compiler will give you a warning if a variable is unknown.

I want to exception handle 'list index out of range.'

You have two options; either handle the exception or test the length:

if len(dlist) > 1:
    newlist.append(dlist[1])
    continue

or

try:
    newlist.append(dlist[1])
except IndexError:
    pass
continue

Use the first if there often is no second item, the second if there sometimes is no second item.

python: creating list from string

If you need to convert some of them to numbers and don't know in advance which ones, some additional code will be needed. Try something like this:

b = []
for x in a:
    temp = []
    items = x.split(",")
    for item in items:
        try:
            n = int(item)
        except ValueError:
            temp.append(item)
        else:
            temp.append(n)
    b.append(temp)

This is longer than the other answers, but it's more versatile.

How to properly URL encode a string in PHP?

Here is my use case, which requires an exceptional amount of encoding. Maybe you think it contrived, but we run this on production. Coincidently, this covers every type of encoding, so I'm posting as a tutorial.

Use case description

Somebody just bought a prepaid gift card ("token") on our website. Tokens have corresponding URLs to redeem them. This customer wants to email the URL to someone else. Our web page includes a mailto link that lets them do that.

PHP code

// The order system generates some opaque token
$token = 'w%a&!e#"^2(^@azW';

// Here is a URL to redeem that token
$redeemUrl = 'https://httpbin.org/get?token=' . urlencode($token);

// Actual contents we want for the email
$subject = 'I just bought this for you';
$body = 'Please enter your shipping details here: ' . $redeemUrl;

// A URI for the email as prescribed
$mailToUri = 'mailto:?subject=' . rawurlencode($subject) . '&body=' . rawurlencode($body);

// Print an HTML element with that mailto link
echo '<a href="' . htmlspecialchars($mailToUri) . '">Email your friend</a>';

Note: the above assumes you are outputting to a text/html document. If your output media type is text/json then simply use $retval['url'] = $mailToUri; because output encoding is handled by json_encode().

Test case

  1. Run the code on a PHP test site (is there a canonical one I should mention here?)
  2. Click the link
  3. Send the email
  4. Get the email
  5. Click that link

You should see:

"args": {
  "token": "w%a&!e#\"^2(^@azW"
},

And of course this is the JSON representation of $token above.

Calculate the display width of a string in Java

Use the getWidth method in the following class:

import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.geom.*;
import java.awt.font.*;

class StringMetrics {

  Font font;
  FontRenderContext context;

  public StringMetrics(Graphics2D g2) {

    font = g2.getFont();
    context = g2.getFontRenderContext();
  }

  Rectangle2D getBounds(String message) {

    return font.getStringBounds(message, context);
  }

  double getWidth(String message) {

    Rectangle2D bounds = getBounds(message);
    return bounds.getWidth();
  }

  double getHeight(String message) {

    Rectangle2D bounds = getBounds(message);
    return bounds.getHeight();
  }

}

Java collections maintaining insertion order

Theres's a section in the O'Reilly Java Cookbook called "Avoiding the urge to sort" The question you should be asking is actually the opposite of your original question ... "Do we gain something by sorting?" It take a lot of effort to sort and maintain that order. Sure sorting is easy but it usually doesn't scale in most programs. If you're going to be handling thousands or tens of thousands of requests (insrt,del,get,etc) per second whether not you're using a sorted or non sorted data structure is seriously going to matter.

How to tell if JRE or JDK is installed

A generic, pure Java solution..

For Windows and MacOS, the following can be inferred (most of the time)...

public static boolean isJDK() {
    String path = System.getProperty("sun.boot.library.path");
    if(path != null && path.contains("jdk")) {
        return true;
    }
    return false;
}

However... on Linux this isn't as reliable... For example...

  • Many JREs on Linux contain openjdk the path
  • There's no guarantee that the JRE doesn't also contain a JDK.

So a more fail-safe approach is to check for the existence of the javac executable.

public static boolean isJDK() {
    String path = System.getProperty("sun.boot.library.path");
    if(path != null) {
        String javacPath = "";
        if(path.endsWith(File.separator + "bin")) {
            javacPath = path;
        } else {
            int libIndex = path.lastIndexOf(File.separator + "lib");
            if(libIndex > 0) {
                javacPath = path.substring(0, libIndex) + File.separator + "bin";
            }
        }
        if(!javacPath.isEmpty()) {
            return new File(javacPath, "javac").exists() || new File(javacPath, "javac.exe").exists();
        }
    }
    return false;
}

Warning: This will still fail for JRE + JDK combos which report the JRE's sun.boot.library.path identically between the JRE and the JDK. For example, Fedora's JDK will fail (or pass depending on how you look at it) when the above code is run. See unit tests below for more info...

Unit tests:

Why should you need manipulations with packages.config or .csproj files?
The error explicitly says: Use NuGet Package Restore to download them.
Use it accordingly this instruction: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/nuget/consume-packages/package-restore-troubleshooting:

Quick solution for Visual Studio users
1.Select the Tools > NuGet Package Manager > Package Manager Settings menu command.
2.Set both options under Package Restore.

How do I check if a string contains another string in Objective-C?

With iOS 8 and Swift, we can use localizedCaseInsensitiveContainsString method

 let string: NSString = "Café"
 let substring: NSString = "É"

 string.localizedCaseInsensitiveContainsString(substring) // true

Objective-C implicit conversion loses integer precision 'NSUInteger' (aka 'unsigned long') to 'int' warning

Doing the expicit casting to the "int" solves the problem in my case. I had the same issue. So:

int count = (int)[myColors count];

How to get String Array from arrays.xml file

Your array.xml is not right. change it to like this

Here is array.xml file

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
    <string-array name="testArray">
        <item>first</item>
        <item>second</item>
        <item>third</item>
        <item>fourth</item>
        <item>fifth</item>
   </string-array>
</resources>

Comparing the contents of two files in Sublime Text

UPDATE
(Given the upvotes, I feel there is a need for a complete step-by-step explanation...)

  1. In the Menu bar click on File->Open Folder...
  2. Select a folder (the actual folder does not really matter, this step is just to make the FOLDERS sidebar available)
  3. If there is no Side Bar shown yet, make it appear via View -> Side Bar -> Show Side Bar
  4. Use this FOLDERS-titled Side Bar to navigate to the first file you want to compare.
  5. Select it (click on it), hold down ctrl and select the second file.
  6. Having two files selected, right click on one of the two and select Diff Files...

There should be a new Tab now showing the comparison.

Original short answer:
Note that:

The "Diff files" only appears with the "folders" sidebar (to open a folder: File->Open Folder) , not with "open files" sidebar.

What to do with commit made in a detached head

Alternatively, you could cherry-pick the commit-id onto your branch.

<commit-id> made in detached head state

git checkout master

git cherry-pick <commit-id>

No temporary branches, no merging.

How to access host port from docker container

Format certain floating dataframe columns into percentage in pandas

The accepted answer suggests to modify the raw data for presentation purposes, something you generally do not want. Imagine you need to make further analyses with these columns and you need the precision you lost with rounding.

You can modify the formatting of individual columns in data frames, in your case:

output = df.to_string(formatters={
    'var1': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var2': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var3': '{:,.2%}'.format
})
print(output)

For your information '{:,.2%}'.format(0.214) yields 21.40%, so no need for multiplying by 100.

You don't have a nice HTML table anymore but a text representation. If you need to stay with HTML use the to_html function instead.

from IPython.core.display import display, HTML
output = df.to_html(formatters={
    'var1': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var2': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var3': '{:,.2%}'.format
})
display(HTML(output))

Update

As of pandas 0.17.1, life got easier and we can get a beautiful html table right away:

df.style.format({
    'var1': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var2': '{:,.2f}'.format,
    'var3': '{:,.2%}'.format,
})

How to build and use Google TensorFlow C++ api

One alternative to using Tensorflow C++ API I found is to use cppflow.

It's a lightweight C++ wrapper around Tensorflow C API. You get very small executables and it links against the libtensorflow.so already compiled file. There are also examples of use and you use CMAKE instead of Bazel.

Can't install gems on OS X "El Capitan"

How to loop over directories in Linux?

cd /tmp
find . -maxdepth 1 -mindepth 1 -type d -printf '%f\n'

A short explanation:

  • find finds files (quite obviously)

  • . is the current directory, which after the cd is /tmp (IMHO this is more flexible than having /tmp directly in the find command. You have only one place, the cd, to change, if you want more actions to take place in this folder)

  • -maxdepth 1 and -mindepth 1 make sure that find only looks in the current directory and doesn't include . itself in the result

  • -type d looks only for directories

  • -printf '%f\n prints only the found folder's name (plus a newline) for each hit.

Et voilà!

Default value in Doctrine

Adding to @romanb brilliant answer.

This adds a little overhead in migration, because you obviously cannot create a field with not null constraint and with no default value.

// this up() migration is autogenerated, please modify it to your needs
$this->abortIf($this->connection->getDatabasePlatform()->getName() != "postgresql");

//lets add property without not null contraint
$this->addSql("ALTER TABLE tablename ADD property BOOLEAN");

//get the default value for property
$object = new Object();
$defaultValue = $menuItem->getProperty() ? "true":"false";

$this->addSql("UPDATE tablename SET property = {$defaultValue}");

//not you can add constraint
$this->addSql("ALTER TABLE tablename ALTER property SET NOT NULL");

With this answer, I encourage you to think why do you need the default value in the database in the first place? And usually it is to allow creating objects with not null constraint.

fork() and wait() with two child processes

Put your wait() function in a loop and wait for all the child processes. The wait function will return -1 and errno will be equal to ECHILD if no more child processes are available.

How to read one single line of csv data in Python?

You can use Pandas library to read the first few lines from the huge dataset.

import pandas as pd

data = pd.read_csv("names.csv", nrows=1)

You can mention the number of lines to be read in the nrows parameter.

How do I make a dotted/dashed line in Android?

For a Dotted effect on a Canvas, set this attribute to the paint object :

paint.setPathEffect(new DashPathEffect(new float[] {0,30}, 0));

And change the value 30 as your render suits you : it represents the "distance" between each dots.

How do you specify a different port number in SQL Management Studio?

Another way is to setup an alias in Config Manager. Then simply type that alias name when you want to connect. This makes it much easier and is more prefereable when you have to manage several servers/instances and/or servers on multiple ports and/or multiple protocols. Give them friendly names and it becomes much easier to remember them.

Read XML Attribute using XmlDocument

If your XML contains namespaces, then you can do the following in order to obtain the value of an attribute:

var xmlDoc = new XmlDocument();

// content is your XML as string
xmlDoc.LoadXml(content);

XmlNamespaceManager nsmgr = new XmlNamespaceManager(new NameTable());

// make sure the namespace identifier, URN in this case, matches what you have in your XML
nsmgr.AddNamespace("ns", "urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:protocol");

// get the value of Destination attribute from within the Response node with a prefix who's identifier is "urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:protocol" using XPath
var str = xmlDoc.SelectSingleNode("/ns:Response/@Destination", nsmgr);
if (str != null)
{
    Console.WriteLine(str.Value);
}

Moving from position A to position B slowly with animation

Use jquery animate and give it a long duration say 2000

$("#Friends").animate({
        top: "-=30px",
      }, duration );

The -= means that the animation will be relative to the current top position.

Note that the Friends element must have position set to relative in the css:

#Friends{position:relative;}

Plot 3D data in R

I use the lattice package for almost everything I plot in R and it has a corresponing plot to persp called wireframe. Let data be the way Sven defined it.

wireframe(z ~ x * y, data=data)

wireframe plot

Or how about this (modification of fig 6.3 in Deepanyan Sarkar's book):

p <- wireframe(z ~ x * y, data=data)
npanel <- c(4, 2)
rotx <- c(-50, -80)
rotz <- seq(30, 300, length = npanel[1]+1)
update(p[rep(1, prod(npanel))], layout = npanel,
    panel = function(..., screen) {
        panel.wireframe(..., screen = list(z = rotz[current.column()],
                                           x = rotx[current.row()]))
    })

Multiple wireframe plots using panel and update

Update: Plotting surfaces with OpenGL

Since this post continues to draw attention I want to add the OpenGL way to make 3-d plots too (as suggested by @tucson below). First we need to reformat the dataset from xyz-tripplets to axis vectors x and y and a matrix z.

x <- 1:5/10
y <- 1:5
z <- x %o% y
z <- z + .2*z*runif(25) - .1*z

library(rgl)
persp3d(x, y, z, col="skyblue")

rgl::persp3d

This image can be freely rotated and scaled using the mouse, or modified with additional commands, and when you are happy with it you save it using rgl.snapshot.

rgl.snapshot("myplot.png")

ToList()-- does it create a new list?

A new list is created but the items in it are references to the orginal items (just like in the original list). Changes to the list itself are independent, but to the items will find the change in both lists.

Conditionally displaying JSF components

Yes, use the rendered attribute.

<h:form rendered="#{some boolean condition}">

You usually tie it to the model rather than letting the model grab the component and manipulate it.

E.g.

<h:form rendered="#{bean.booleanValue}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.intValue gt 10}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.objectValue eq null}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.stringValue ne 'someValue'}" />
<h:form rendered="#{not empty bean.collectionValue}" />
<h:form rendered="#{not bean.booleanValue and bean.intValue ne 0}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.enumValue eq 'ONE' or bean.enumValue eq 'TWO'}" />

Note the importance of keyword based EL operators such as gt, ge, le and lt instead of >, >=, <= and < as angle brackets < and > are reserved characters in XML. See also this related Q&A: Error parsing XHTML: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.

As to your specific use case, let's assume that the link is passing a parameter like below:

<a href="page.xhtml?form=1">link</a>

You can then show the form as below:

<h:form rendered="#{param.form eq '1'}">

(the #{param} is an implicit EL object referring to a Map representing the request parameters)

Get unicode value of a character

are you picky with using Unicode because with java its more simple if you write your program to use "dec" value or (HTML-Code) then you can simply cast data types between char and int

char a = 98;
char b = 'b';
char c = (char) (b+0002);

System.out.println(a);
System.out.println((int)b);
System.out.println((int)c);
System.out.println(c);

Gives this output

b
98
100
d

Javascript : array.length returns undefined

One option is:

Object.keys(myObject).length

Sadly it not works under older IE versions (under 9).

If you need that compatibility, use the painful version:

var key, count = 0;
for(key in myObject) {
  if(myObject.hasOwnProperty(key)) {
    count++;
  }
}

CSS display:inline property with list-style-image: property on <li> tags

Try using float: left (or right) instead of display: inline. Inline display replaces list-item display, which is what adds the bullet points.

Add one year in current date PYTHON

Here's one more answer that I've found to be pretty concise and doesn't use external packages:

import datetime as dt
import calendar

# Today, in `dt.date` type
day = dt.datetime.now().date()

one_year_delta = dt.timedelta(days=366 if ((day.month >= 3 and calendar.isleap(day.year+1)) or
                                            (day.month < 3 and calendar.isleap(day.year))) else 365)

# Add one year to the current date
print(day + one_year_delta)

solution of TheSoftwareJedi works,

also you can archive it with using couple of value and nullable types:

    {
        if (thing.Id == id)

How to create a user in Django?

If you creat user normally, you will not be able to login as password creation method may b different You can use default signup form for that

from django.contrib.auth.forms import UserCreationForm

You can extend that also

from django.contrib.auth.forms import UserCreationForm

class UserForm(UserCreationForm):
    mobile = forms.CharField(max_length=15, min_length=10)
    email = forms.EmailField(required=True)
    class Meta:
        model = User
        fields = ['username', 'password', 'first_name', 'last_name', 'email', 'mobile' ]

Then in view use this class

class UserCreate(CreateView):

`getchar()` gives the same output as the input string

According to the definition of getchar(), it reads a character from the standard input. Unfortunately stdin is mistaken for keyboard which might not be the case for getchar. getchar uses a buffer as stdin and reads a single character at a time. In your case since there is no EOF, the getchar and putchar are running multiple times and it looks to you as it the whole string is being printed out at a time. Make a small change and you will understand:

putchar(c);
printf("\n");
c = getchar();

Now look at the output compared to the original code.

Another example that will explain you the concept of getchar and buffered stdin :

void main(){
int c;
printf("Enter character");
c = getchar();
putchar();
c = getchar();
putchar();
}

Enter two characters in the first case. The second time when getchar is running are you entering any character? NO but still putchar works.

This ultimately means there is a buffer and when ever you are typing something and click enter this goes and settles in the buffer. getchar uses this buffer as stdin.

How to check internet access on Android? InetAddress never times out

I have gone through all the answers and i come up with my own answer which first check whether Internet is available and if Internet is available then it check whether it is active or not.

I have included all necessary method and classes to check for active Internet connection.

NetworkUtils.class

public class NetworkUtils {

    public static final int STATUS_CONNECTED = 0 ;

    public static boolean isInternetAvailable(Context ctx){
        ConnectivityManager cm = (ConnectivityManager)ctx.getSystemService(Context.CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE);
        NetworkInfo activeNetwork = cm.getActiveNetworkInfo();
        return activeNetwork != null && activeNetwork.isConnectedOrConnecting();
    }

    public static int isInternetActiveWithPing() {
        try {
            Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
            Process process = runtime.exec("/system/bin/ping -c 1 8.8.8.8");
            int exitValue = process.waitFor();
            return exitValue;
        } catch (Exception ex) {
            return -1;
        }
    }

    public static boolean isInternetActiveWithInetAddress() {
        try {
            InetAddress inetAddress = InetAddress.getByName("www.google.com");
            return inetAddress != null && !inetAddress.toString().equals("");
        } catch (Exception ex) {
            return false;
        }
    }

    public static void displayInternetConnectionMessage(Context ctx){
        Toast.makeText(ctx, "Check Internet Connection", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
    }
}

You can check whether Internet is active using below code:

 private void checkInternetConnection() {
        if (NetworkUtils.isInternetAvailable(this)) {
            new Thread(new Runnable() {
                @Override
                public void run() {
                    if (NetworkUtils.isInternetActiveWithPing() == NetworkUtils.STATUS_CONNECTED) {
                        performNetworkingOperations();
                    } else {
                        if (NetworkUtils.isInternetActiveWithInetAddress()) {
                            performNetworkingOperations();
                        } else {
                            displayConnectionMessage();
                        }
                    }
                }
            }).start();

        } else {
            displayConnectionMessage();
        }
    }

    private void performNetworkingOperations() {
        runOnUiThread(new Runnable() {
            @Override
            public void run() {
                Toast.makeText(MainActivity.this, "Internet is Available", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
            }
        });
    }

    private void displayConnectionMessage() {
        runOnUiThread(new Runnable() {
            @Override
            public void run() {
                NetworkUtils.displayInternetConnectionMessage(MainActivity.this);
            }
        });
    }

Change status bar color with AppCompat ActionBarActivity

I don't think the status bar color has been implemented in AppCompat yet. These are the attributes which are available:

    <!-- ============= -->
    <!-- Color palette -->
    <!-- ============= -->

    <!-- The primary branding color for the app. By default, this is the color applied to the
         action bar background. -->
    <attr name="colorPrimary" format="color" />

    <!-- Dark variant of the primary branding color. By default, this is the color applied to
         the status bar (via statusBarColor) and navigation bar (via navigationBarColor). -->
    <attr name="colorPrimaryDark" format="color" />

    <!-- Bright complement to the primary branding color. By default, this is the color applied
         to framework controls (via colorControlActivated). -->
    <attr name="colorAccent" format="color" />

    <!-- The color applied to framework controls in their normal state. -->
    <attr name="colorControlNormal" format="color" />

    <!-- The color applied to framework controls in their activated (ex. checked) state. -->
    <attr name="colorControlActivated" format="color" />

    <!-- The color applied to framework control highlights (ex. ripples, list selectors). -->
    <attr name="colorControlHighlight" format="color" />

    <!-- The color applied to framework buttons in their normal state. -->
    <attr name="colorButtonNormal" format="color" />

    <!-- The color applied to framework switch thumbs in their normal state. -->
    <attr name="colorSwitchThumbNormal" format="color" />

How to insert data to MySQL having auto incremented primary key?

I see three possibilities here that will help you insert into your table without making a complete mess but "specifying" a value for the AUTO_INCREMENT column, since you are supplying all the values you can do either one of the following options.

First approach (Supplying NULL):

INSERT INTO test.authors VALUES (
 NULL,'1','67','0','0','1','10','0','1','2012-01-03 12:50:49','108929',
 '2012-01-03 12:50:59','198963','21','',
 '/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_ping  5','30','0','4.04159',
 '0.102','1','PING WARNING -DUPLICATES FOUND! Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 2.86 ms',
 '','rta=2.860000m=0%;80;100;0'
);

Second approach (Supplying '' {Simple quotes / apostrophes} although it will give you a warning):

INSERT INTO test.authors VALUES (
 '','1','67','0','0','1','10','0','1','2012-01-03 12:50:49','108929',
 '2012-01-03 12:50:59','198963','21','',
 '/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_ping  5','30','0','4.04159',
 '0.102','1','PING WARNING -DUPLICATES FOUND! Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 2.86 ms',
 '','rta=2.860000m=0%;80;100;0'
);

Third approach (Supplying default):

INSERT INTO test.authors VALUES (
 default,'1','67','0','0','1','10','0','1','2012-01-03 12:50:49','108929',
 '2012-01-03 12:50:59','198963','21','',
 '/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_ping  5','30','0','4.04159',
 '0.102','1','PING WARNING -DUPLICATES FOUND! Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 2.86 ms',
 '','rta=2.860000m=0%;80;100;0'
);

Either one of these examples should suffice when inserting into that table as long as you include all the values in the same order as you defined them when creating the table.

Using AES encryption in C#

If you just want to use the built-in crypto provider RijndaelManaged, check out the following help article (it also has a simple code sample):

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.cryptography.rijndaelmanaged.aspx

And just in case you need the sample in a hurry, here it is in all its plagiarized glory:

using System;
using System.IO;
using System.Security.Cryptography;

namespace RijndaelManaged_Example
{
    class RijndaelExample
    {
        public static void Main()
        {
            try
            {

                string original = "Here is some data to encrypt!";

                // Create a new instance of the RijndaelManaged
                // class. This generates a new key and initialization
                // vector (IV).
                using (RijndaelManaged myRijndael = new RijndaelManaged())
                {

                    myRijndael.GenerateKey();
                    myRijndael.GenerateIV();
                    // Encrypt the string to an array of bytes.

Cannot find Microsoft.Office.Interop Visual Studio

I think you need to run that .msi to install the dlls. After I ran that .msi I can go to (VS 2012) Add References > Assemblies > Extensions and all of the Microsoft.Office.Interop dlls are there.

On my computer the dlls are found in "c:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Visual Studio Tools for Office\PIA" so you could check in a similar/equivalent directory on yours just to make sure they're not there?

How to declare strings in C

This link should satisfy your curiosity.

Basically (forgetting your third example which is bad), the different between 1 and 2 is that 1 allocates space for a pointer to the array.

But in the code, you can manipulate them as pointers all the same -- only thing, you cannot reallocate the second.

Android checkbox style

The correct way to do it for Material design is :

Style :

<style name="MyCheckBox" parent="Theme.AppCompat.Light">
    <item name="colorControlNormal">@color/foo</item>
    <item name="colorControlActivated">@color/bar</item>
</style>

Layout :

<CheckBox
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:checked="true"
    android:text="Check Box"
    android:theme="@style/MyCheckBox"/>

It will preserve Material animations on Lollipop+.

How can I get the DateTime for the start of the week?

Step 1: Create a static class

  public static class TIMEE
{
    public static DateTime StartOfWeek(this DateTime dt, DayOfWeek startOfWeek)
    {
        int diff = (7 + (dt.DayOfWeek - startOfWeek)) % 7;
        return dt.AddDays(-1 * diff).Date;
    }
    public static DateTime EndOfWeek(this DateTime dt, DayOfWeek startOfWeek)
    {
        int diff = (7 - (dt.DayOfWeek - startOfWeek)) % 7;
        return dt.AddDays(1 * diff).Date;
    }
}

Step2: Use this class to get both start and end day of the week

 DateTime dt =TIMEE.StartOfWeek(DateTime.Now ,DayOfWeek.Monday);
        DateTime dt1 = TIMEE.EndOfWeek(DateTime.Now, DayOfWeek.Sunday);

writing to serial port from linux command line

SCREEN:

NOTE: screen is actually not able to send hex, as far as I know. To do that, use echo or printf

I was using the suggestions in this post to write to a serial port, then using the info from another post to read from the port, with mixed results. I found that using screen is an "easier" solution, since it opens a terminal session directly with that port. (I put easier in quotes, because screen has a really weird interface, IMO, and takes some further reading to figure it out.)

You can issue this command to open a screen session, then anything you type will be sent to the port, plus the return values will be printed below it:

screen /dev/ttyS0 19200,cs8

(Change the above to fit your needs for speed, parity, stop bits, etc.) I realize screen isn't the "linux command line" as the post specifically asks for, but I think it's in the same spirit. Plus, you don't have to type echo and quotes every time.

ECHO:

Follow praetorian droid's answer. HOWEVER, this didn't work for me until I also used the cat command (cat < /dev/ttyS0) while I was sending the echo command.

PRINTF:

I found that one can also use printf's '%x' command:

c="\x"$(printf '%x' 0x12)
printf $c >> $SERIAL_COMM_PORT

Again, for printf, start cat < /dev/ttyS0 before sending the command.

How to read request body in an asp.net core webapi controller?

In ASP.Net Core it seems complicated to read several times the body request, however if your first attempt does it the right way, you should be fine for the next attempts.

I read several turnaround for example by substituting the body stream, but I think the following is the cleanest:

The most important points being

  1. to let the request know that you will read its body twice or more times,
  2. to not close the body stream, and
  3. to rewind it to its initial position so the internal process does not get lost.

[EDIT]

As pointed out by Murad, you may also take advantage of the .Net Core 2.1 extension: EnableBuffering It stores large requests onto the disk instead of keeping it in memory, avoiding large-streams issues stored in memory (files, images, ...). You can change the temporary folder by setting ASPNETCORE_TEMP environment variable, and files are deleted once the request is over.

In an AuthorizationFilter, you can do the following:

// Helper to enable request stream rewinds
using Microsoft.AspNetCore.Http.Internal;
[...]
public class EnableBodyRewind : Attribute, IAuthorizationFilter
{
    public void OnAuthorization(AuthorizationFilterContext context)
    {
        var bodyStr = "";
        var req = context.HttpContext.Request;

        // Allows using several time the stream in ASP.Net Core
        req.EnableRewind();

        // Arguments: Stream, Encoding, detect encoding, buffer size
        // AND, the most important: keep stream opened
        using (StreamReader reader
                  = new StreamReader(req.Body, Encoding.UTF8, true, 1024, true))
        {
            bodyStr = reader.ReadToEnd();
        }

        // Rewind, so the core is not lost when it looks the body for the request
        req.Body.Position = 0;

        // Do whatever work with bodyStr here

    }
}

public class SomeController : Controller
{
    [HttpPost("MyRoute")]
    [EnableBodyRewind]
    public IActionResult SomeAction([FromBody]MyPostModel model )
    {
        // play the body string again
    }
}

Then you can use the body again in the request handler.

In your case if you get a null result, it probably means that the body has already been read at an earlier stage. In that case you may need to use a middleware (see below).

However be careful if you handle large streams, that behavior implies that everything is loaded into memory, this should not be triggered in case of a file upload.

You may want to use this as a Middleware

Mine looks like this (again, if you download/upload large files, this should be disabled to avoid memory issues):

public sealed class BodyRewindMiddleware
{
    private readonly RequestDelegate _next;

    public BodyRewindMiddleware(RequestDelegate next)
    {
        _next = next;
    }

    public async Task Invoke(HttpContext context)
    {
        try { context.Request.EnableRewind(); } catch { }
        await _next(context);
        // context.Request.Body.Dipose() might be added to release memory, not tested
    }
}
public static class BodyRewindExtensions
{
    public static IApplicationBuilder EnableRequestBodyRewind(this IApplicationBuilder app)
    {
        if (app == null)
        {
            throw new ArgumentNullException(nameof(app));
        }

        return app.UseMiddleware<BodyRewindMiddleware>();
    }

}

OS X Sprite Kit Game Optimal Default Window Size

You should target the smallest, not the largest, supported pixel resolution by the devices your app can run on.

Say if there's an actual Mac computer that can run OS X 10.9 and has a native screen resolution of only 1280x720 then that's the resolution you should focus on. Any higher and your game won't correctly run on this device and you could as well remove that device from your supported devices list.

You can rely on upscaling to match larger screen sizes, but you can't rely on downscaling to preserve possibly important image details such as text or smaller game objects.

The next most important step is to pick a fitting aspect ratio, be it 4:3 or 16:9 or 16:10, that ideally is the native aspect ratio on most of the supported devices. Make sure your game only scales to fit on devices with a different aspect ratio.

You could scale to fill but then you must ensure that on all devices the cropped areas will not negatively impact gameplay or the use of the app in general (ie text or buttons outside the visible screen area). This will be harder to test as you'd actually have to have one of those devices or create a custom build that crops the view accordingly.

Alternatively you can design multiple versions of your game for specific and very common screen resolutions to provide the best game experience from 13" through 27" displays. Optimized designs for iMac (desktop) and a Macbook (notebook) devices make the most sense, it'll be harder to justify making optimized versions for 13" and 15" plus 21" and 27" screens.

But of course this depends a lot on the game. For example a tile-based world game could simply provide a larger viewing area onto the world on larger screen resolutions rather than scaling the view up. Provided that this does not alter gameplay, like giving the player an unfair advantage (specifically in multiplayer).

You should provide @2x images for the Retina Macbook Pro and future Retina Macs.

and so on ...

Now, the purpose of CRA is not to worry about these.

From the documentation:

You don’t need to install or configure tools like Webpack or Babel. They are preconfigured and hidden so that you can focus on the code.

If you want to have access to the config files, you need to eject by running:

npm run eject

Note: this is a one-way operation. Once you eject, you can’t go back!

In most scenarios, it is best not to eject and try to find a way to make it work for you in another way.

If you need to override some of the config options, you can have a look at https://github.com/gsoft-inc/craco

Specifying colClasses in the read.csv

You can specify the colClasse for only one columns.

So in your example you should use:

data <- read.csv('test.csv', colClasses=c("time"="character"))

Can't compile C program on a Mac after upgrade to Mojave

The problem is that Xcode, especially Xcode 10.x, has not installed everything, so ensure the command line tools are installed, type this in a terminal shell:

xcode-select --install

also start Xcode and ensure all the required installation is installed ( you should get prompted if it is not.) and since Xcode 10 does not install the full Mac OS SDK, run the installer at

/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/Packages/macOS_SDK_headers_for_macOS_10.14.pkg

as this package is not installed by Xcode 10.

How to prevent gcc optimizing some statements in C?

You can use

#pragma GCC push_options
#pragma GCC optimize ("O0")

your code

#pragma GCC pop_options

to disable optimizations since GCC 4.4.

See the GCC documentation if you need more details.

This issue arise because we try to delete the parent table still child table data is present. We solve the problem with help of cascade delete.

In model Create method in dbcontext class.

 modelBuilder.Entity<Job>()
                .HasMany<JobSportsMapping>(C => C.JobSportsMappings)
                .WithRequired(C => C.Job)
                .HasForeignKey(C => C.JobId).WillCascadeOnDelete(true);
            modelBuilder.Entity<Sport>()
                .HasMany<JobSportsMapping>(C => C.JobSportsMappings)
                  .WithRequired(C => C.Sport)
                  .HasForeignKey(C => C.SportId).WillCascadeOnDelete(true);

After that,In our API Call

var JobList = Context.Job
          .Include(x => x.JobSportsMappings)                                     .ToList();
Context.Job.RemoveRange(JobList);
Context.SaveChanges();

Cascade delete option delete the parent as well parent related child table with this simple code. Make it try in this simple way.

Remove Range which used for delete the list of records in the database Thanks

How do I run PHP code when a user clicks on a link?

There is the only better way is AJAX as everyone is suggest in their posts. The alternative is using IFrames like below:

<iframe name="f1" id="f1"> </iframe>

<a href='yourpage.php' target='f1'>Click </a>

Now you will get the output in IFrame (you can place IFrame wherever you need in the page or event hide it and the result from the script).

Hope for non Ajax solution this is better.

My httpd.conf is empty

It's empty by default. You'll find a bunch of settings in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf.

IEnumerable vs List - What to Use? How do they work?

There are many cases (such as an infinite list or a very large list) where IEnumerable cannot be transformed to a List. The most obvious examples are all the prime numbers, all the users of facebook with their details, or all the items on ebay.

The difference is that "List" objects are stored "right here and right now", whereas "IEnumerable" objects work "just one at a time". So if I am going through all the items on ebay, one at a time would be something even a small computer can handle, but ".ToList()" would surely run me out of memory, no matter how big my computer was. No computer can by itself contain and handle such a huge amount of data.

[Edit] - Needless to say - it's not "either this or that". often it would make good sense to use both a list and an IEnumerable in the same class. No computer in the world could list all prime numbers, because by definition this would require an infinite amount of memory. But you could easily think of a class PrimeContainer which contains an IEnumerable<long> primes, which for obvious reasons also contains a SortedList<long> _primes. all the primes calculated so far. the next prime to be checked would only be run against the existing primes (up to the square root). That way you gain both - primes one at a time (IEnumerable) and a good list of "primes so far", which is a pretty good approximation of the entire (infinite) list.

Current date and time as string

Non C++11 solution: With the <ctime> header, you could use strftime. Make sure your buffer is large enough, you wouldn't want to overrun it and wreak havoc later.

#include <iostream>
#include <ctime>

int main ()
{
  time_t rawtime;
  struct tm * timeinfo;
  char buffer[80];

  time (&rawtime);
  timeinfo = localtime(&rawtime);

  strftime(buffer,sizeof(buffer),"%d-%m-%Y %H:%M:%S",timeinfo);
  std::string str(buffer);

  std::cout << str;

  return 0;
}

Java check if boolean is null

boolean is a primitive data type in Java and primitive data types can not be null like other primitives int, float etc, they should be containing default values if not assigned.

In Java, only objects can assigned to null, it means the corresponding object has no reference and so does not contain any representation in memory.

Hence If you want to work with object as null , you should be using Boolean class which wraps a primitive boolean type value inside its object.

These are called wrapper classes in Java

For Example:

Boolean bool = readValue(...); // Read Your Value
if (bool  == null) { do This ...}

'router-outlet' is not a known element

Thank you Hero Editor example, where I found the correct definition:

When I generate app routing module:

ng generate module app-routing --flat --module=app

and update the app-routing.ts file to add:

@NgModule({
  imports: [ RouterModule.forRoot(routes) ],
  exports: [ RouterModule ]
})

Here are the full example:

import { NgModule }             from '@angular/core';
import { RouterModule, Routes } from '@angular/router';

import { DashboardComponent }   from './dashboard/dashboard.component';
import { HeroesComponent }      from './heroes/heroes.component';
import { HeroDetailComponent }  from './hero-detail/hero-detail.component';

const routes: Routes = [
  { path: '', redirectTo: '/dashboard', pathMatch: 'full' },
  { path: 'dashboard', component: DashboardComponent },
  { path: 'detail/:id', component: HeroDetailComponent },
  { path: 'heroes', component: HeroesComponent }
];

@NgModule({
  imports: [ RouterModule.forRoot(routes) ],
  exports: [ RouterModule ]
})
export class AppRoutingModule {}

and add AppRoutingModule into app.module.ts imports:

@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent,
    ...
  ],
  imports: [
    BrowserModule,
    FormsModule,
    AppRoutingModule
  ],
  providers: [...],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})

pandas: find percentile stats of a given column

You can use the pandas.DataFrame.quantile() function, as shown below.

import pandas as pd
import random

A = [ random.randint(0,100) for i in range(10) ]
B = [ random.randint(0,100) for i in range(10) ]

df = pd.DataFrame({ 'field_A': A, 'field_B': B })
df
#    field_A  field_B
# 0       90       72
# 1       63       84
# 2       11       74
# 3       61       66
# 4       78       80
# 5       67       75
# 6       89       47
# 7       12       22
# 8       43        5
# 9       30       64

df.field_A.mean()   # Same as df['field_A'].mean()
# 54.399999999999999

df.field_A.median()
# 62.0

# You can call `quantile(i)` to get the i'th quantile,
# where `i` should be a fractional number.

df.field_A.quantile(0.1) # 10th percentile
# 11.9

df.field_A.quantile(0.5) # same as median
# 62.0

df.field_A.quantile(0.9) # 90th percentile
# 89.10000000000001

$ ./compressJS.sh some-script.js another-sctipt.js onemore.js

What is the difference between Class.getResource() and ClassLoader.getResource()?

Another more efficient way to do is just use @Value

@Value("classpath:sss.json")
private Resource resource;

and after that you can just get the file this way

File file = resource.getFile();

How to add icon to mat-icon-button

All you need to do is add the mat-icon-button directive to the button element in your template. Within the button element specify your desired icon with a mat-icon component.

You'll need to import MatButtonModule and MatIconModule in your app module file.

From the Angular Material buttons example page, hit the view code button and you'll see several examples which use the material icons font, eg.

<button mat-icon-button>
  <mat-icon aria-label="Example icon-button with a heart icon">favorite</mat-icon>
</button>

In your case, use

<mat-icon>thumb_up</mat-icon>

As per the getting started guide at https://material.angular.io/guide/getting-started, you'll need to load the material icon font in your index.html.

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/icon?family=Material+Icons" rel="stylesheet">

Or import it in your global styles.scss.

@import url("https://fonts.googleapis.com/icon?family=Material+Icons");

As it mentions, any icon font can be used with the mat-icon component.

Nginx fails to load css files

I actually took my time went through all the above answers on this page but to no avail. I just happened to change the owner and the permissions of directory and sub-directories using the following command.I changed the owner of the web project directory in /usr/share/nginx/html to the root user using:

chown root /usr/share/nginx/html/mywebprojectdir/*

And finally changed the permissions of that directory and sub-directories using:

chmod 755 /usr/share/nginx/html/mywebprojectdir/*

NOTE: if denied , you can use sudo

Convert list of dictionaries to a pandas DataFrame

For converting a list of dictionaries to a pandas DataFrame, you can use "append":

We have a dictionary called dic and dic has 30 list items (list1, list2,…, list30)

  1. step1: define a variable for keeping your result (ex: total_df)
  2. step2: initialize total_df with list1
  3. step3: use "for loop" for append all lists to total_df
total_df=list1
nums=Series(np.arange(start=2, stop=31))
for num in nums:
    total_df=total_df.append(dic['list'+str(num)])

Java 8 LocalDate Jackson format

@JsonSerialize and @JsonDeserialize worked fine for me. They eliminate the need to import the additional jsr310 module:

@JsonDeserialize(using = LocalDateDeserializer.class)
@JsonSerialize(using = LocalDateSerializer.class)
private LocalDate dateOfBirth;

Deserializer:

public class LocalDateDeserializer extends StdDeserializer<LocalDate> {

    private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;

    protected LocalDateDeserializer() {
        super(LocalDate.class);
    }

    @Override
    public LocalDate deserialize(JsonParser jp, DeserializationContext ctxt)
            throws IOException, JsonProcessingException {
        return LocalDate.parse(jp.readValueAs(String.class));
    }

}

Serializer:

public class LocalDateSerializer extends StdSerializer<LocalDate> {

    private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;

    public LocalDateSerializer(){
        super(LocalDate.class);
    }

    @Override
    public void serialize(LocalDate value, JsonGenerator gen, SerializerProvider sp) throws IOException, JsonProcessingException {
        gen.writeString(value.format(DateTimeFormatter.ISO_LOCAL_DATE));
    }
}

How to position absolute inside a div?

The problem is described (among other) in this article.

#box is relatively positioned, which makes it part of the "flow" of the page. Your other divs are absolutely positioned, so they are removed from the page's "flow".

Page flow means that the positioning of an element effects other elements in the flow.

In other words, as #box now sees the dom, .a and .b are no longer "inside" #box.

To fix this, you would want to make everything relative, or everything absolute.

One way would be:

.a {
   position:relative;
   margin-top:10px;
   margin-left:10px;
   background-color:red;
   width:210px;
   padding: 5px;
}

What is the simplest C# function to parse a JSON string into an object?

DataContractJsonSerializer serializer =
    new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(YourObjectType));

YourObjectType yourObject = (YourObjectType)serializer.ReadObject(jsonStream);

You could also use the JavaScriptSerializer, but DataContractJsonSerializer is supposedly better able to handle complex types.

Oddly enough JavaScriptSerializer was once deprecated (in 3.5) and then resurrected because of ASP.NET MVC (in 3.5 SP1). That would definitely be enough to shake my confidence and lead me to use DataContractJsonSerializer since it is hard baked for WCF.

What does -XX:MaxPermSize do?

The permanent space is where the classes, methods, internalized strings, and similar objects used by the VM are stored and never deallocated (hence the name).

This Oracle article succinctly presents the working and parameterization of the HotSpot GC and advises you to augment this space if you load many classes (this is typically the case for application servers and some IDE like Eclipse) :

The permanent generation does not have a noticeable impact on garbage collector performance for most applications. However, some applications dynamically generate and load many classes; for example, some implementations of JavaServer Pages (JSP) pages. These applications may need a larger permanent generation to hold the additional classes. If so, the maximum permanent generation size can be increased with the command-line option -XX:MaxPermSize=.

Note that this other Oracle documentation lists the other HotSpot arguments.

Update : Starting with Java 8, both the permgen space and this setting are gone. The memory model used for loaded classes and methods is different and isn't limited (with default settings). You should not see this error any more.

Access HTTP response as string in Go

bs := string(body) should be enough to give you a string.

From there, you can use it as a regular string.

A bit as in this thread:

var client http.Client
resp, err := client.Get(url)
if err != nil {
    log.Fatal(err)
}
defer resp.Body.Close()

if resp.StatusCode == http.StatusOK {
    bodyBytes, err := ioutil.ReadAll(resp.Body)
    if err != nil {
        log.Fatal(err)
    }
    bodyString := string(bodyBytes)
    log.Info(bodyString)
}

See also GoByExample.

As commented below (and in zzn's answer), this is a conversion (see spec).
See "How expensive is []byte(string)?" (reverse problem, but the same conclusion apply) where zzzz mentioned:

Some conversions are the same as a cast, like uint(myIntvar), which just reinterprets the bits in place.

Sonia adds:

Making a string out of a byte slice, definitely involves allocating the string on the heap. The immutability property forces this.
Sometimes you can optimize by doing as much work as possible with []byte and then creating a string at the end. The bytes.Buffer type is often useful.

HTML5 validation when the input type is not "submit"

I wanted to add a new way of doing this that I just recently ran into. Even though form validation doesn't run when you submit the form using the submit() method, there's nothing stopping you from clicking a submit button programmatically. Even if it's hidden.

Having a form:

<form>
    <input type="text" name="title" required />
    <button style="display: none;" type="submit" id="submit-button">Not Shown</button>
    <button type="button" onclick="doFancyStuff()">Submit</button>
</form>

This will trigger form validation:

function doFancyStuff() {
    $("#submit-button").click();
}

Or without jQuery

function doFancyStuff() {
    document.getElementById("submit-button").click();
}

In my case, I do a bunch of validation and calculations when the fake submit button is pressed, if my manual validation fails, then I know I can programmatically click the hidden submit button and display form validation.

Here's a VERY simple jsfiddle showing the concept:

https://jsfiddle.net/45vxjz87/1/

PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "CREATE"

At line 5 there is a / missing.

There is a good answer on the differences between ; and / here.

Basically, when running a CREATE block via script, you need to use / to let SQLPlus know when the block ends, since a PL/SQL block can contain many instances of ;.

Is it possible to install Xcode 10.2 on High Sierra (10.13.6)?

Based on responses and comments below, the following was the simple solution for my issue and THIS WORKED. Now my app, Match4app, is fully compatible with latest iOS versions!

  1. Download Xcode 10.2 from a direct link (not from App Store). (Estimated Size: ~6Gb)
  2. From the downloaded version just copy/paste the DeviceSupport/12.2 directory into "Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport"
  3. You can discard the downloaded version now (we just need the small 12.2 directory!)

Google Maps API - how to get latitude and longitude from Autocomplete without showing the map?

document.getElementById('lon').value = place.geometry.location.lng();

How do I install PHP cURL on Linux Debian?

Whatever approach you take, make sure in the end that you have an updated version of curl and libcurl. You can do curl --version and see the versions.

Here's what I did to get the latest curl version installed in Ubuntu:

  1. sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu wily main"
  2. sudo apt-get update
  3. sudo apt-get install curl

How to get `DOM Element` in Angular 2?

Angular 2.0.0 Final:

I have found that using a ViewChild setter is most reliable way to set the initial form control focus:

@ViewChild("myInput")
set myInput(_input: ElementRef | undefined) {
    if (_input !== undefined) {
        setTimeout(() => {
            this._renderer.invokeElementMethod(_input.nativeElement, "focus");
        }, 0);
    }
}

The setter is first called with an undefined value followed by a call with an initialized ElementRef.

Working example and full source here: http://plnkr.co/edit/u0sLLi?p=preview

Using TypeScript 2.0.3 Final/RTM, Angular 2.0.0 Final/RTM, and Chrome 53.0.2785.116 m (64-bit).

UPDATE for Angular 4+

Renderer has been deprecated in favor of Renderer2, but Renderer2 does not have the invokeElementMethod. You will need to access the DOM directly to set the focus as in input.nativeElement.focus().

I'm still finding that the ViewChild setter approach works best. When using AfterViewInit I sometimes get read property 'nativeElement' of undefined error.

@ViewChild("myInput")
set myInput(_input: ElementRef | undefined) {
    if (_input !== undefined) {
        setTimeout(() => { //This setTimeout call may not be necessary anymore.
            _input.nativeElement.focus();
        }, 0);
    }
}

How to convert Set<String> to String[]?

Java 11

The new default toArray method in Collection interface allows the elements of the collection to be transferred to a newly created array of the desired runtime type. It takes IntFunction<T[]> generator as argument and can be used as:

 String[] array = set.toArray(String[]::new);

There is already a similar method Collection.toArray(T[]) and this addition means we no longer be able to pass null as argument because in that case reference to the method would be ambiguous. But it is still okay since both methods throw a NPE anyways.

Java 8

In Java 8 we can use streams API:

String[] array = set.stream().toArray(String[]::new);

We can also make use of the overloaded version of toArray() which takes IntFunction<A[]> generator as:

String[] array = set.stream().toArray(n -> new String[n]);

The purpose of the generator function here is to take an integer (size of desired array) and produce an array of desired size. I personally prefer the former approach using method reference than the later one using lambda expression.

How to include files outside of Docker's build context?

Using docker-compose, I accomplished this by creating a service that mounts the volumes that I need and committing the image of the container. Then, in the subsequent service, I rely on the previously committed image, which has all of the data stored at mounted locations. You will then have have to copy these files to their ultimate destination, as host mounted directories do not get committed when running a docker commit command

You don't have to use docker-compose to accomplish this, but it makes life a bit easier

# docker-compose.yml

version: '3'
  services:
    stage:
      image: alpine
      volumes:
        - /host/machine/path:/tmp/container/path
      command: bash -c "cp -r /tmp/container/path /final/container/path"
    setup:
      image: stage
# setup.sh

# Start "stage" service
docker-compose up stage

# Commit changes to an image named "stage"
docker commit $(docker-compose ps -q stage) stage

# Start setup service off of stage image
docker-compose up setup

How do I set response headers in Flask?

We can set the response headers in Python Flask application using Flask application context using flask.g

This way of setting response headers in Flask application context using flask.g is thread safe and can be used to set custom & dynamic attributes from any file of application, this is especially helpful if we are setting custom/dynamic response headers from any helper class, that can also be accessed from any other file ( say like middleware, etc), this flask.g is global & valid for that request thread only.

Say if i want to read the response header from another api/http call that is being called from this app, and then extract any & set it as response headers for this app.

Sample Code: file: helper.py

import flask
from flask import request, g
from multidict import CIMultiDict
from asyncio import TimeoutError as HttpTimeout
from aiohttp import ClientSession

    def _extract_response_header(response)
      """
      extracts response headers from response object
      and stores that required response header in flask.g app context
      """
      headers = CIMultiDict(response.headers)
      if 'my_response_header' not in g:
        g.my_response_header= {}
        g.my_response_header['x-custom-header'] = headers['x-custom-header']

    async def call_post_api(post_body):
      """
      sample method to make post api call using aiohttp clientsession

How to change JDK version for an Eclipse project

See the page Set Up JDK in Eclipse. From the add button you can add a different version of the JDK...

access denied for user @ 'localhost' to database ''

Try this: Adding users to MySQL

You need grant privileges to the user if you want external acess to database(ie. web pages).

Get GPS location from the web browser

Use this, and you will find all informations at http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_geolocation.asp

<script>
var x = document.getElementById("demo");
function getLocation() {
    if (navigator.geolocation) {
        navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(showPosition);
    } else {
        x.innerHTML = "Geolocation is not supported by this browser.";
    }
}
function showPosition(position) {
    x.innerHTML = "Latitude: " + position.coords.latitude +
    "<br>Longitude: " + position.coords.longitude;
}
</script>

Android - Dynamically Add Views into View

To make @Mark Fisher's answer more clear, the inserted view being inflated should be a xml file under layout folder but without a layout (ViewGroup) like LinearLayout etc. inside. My example:

res/layout/my_view.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:id="@+id/i_am_id"
    android:text="my name"
    android:textSize="17sp"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    android:layout_weight="1"/>

Then, the insertion point should be a layout like LinearLayout:

res/layout/activity_main.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout
    xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:id="@+id/aaa"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent">

    <LinearLayout
        android:id="@+id/insert_point"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent">

    </LinearLayout>

</RelativeLayout>

Then the code should be

@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_shopping_cart);

    LayoutInflater inflater = getLayoutInflater();
    View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.my_view, null);
    ViewGroup main = (ViewGroup) findViewById(R.id.insert_point);
    main.addView(view, 0);
}

The reason I post this very similar answer is that when I tried to implement Mark's solution, I got stuck on what xml file should I use for insert_point and the child view. I used layout in the child view firstly and it was totally not working, which took me several hours to figure out. So hope my exploration can save others' time.

Sending commands and strings to Terminal.app with Applescript

First connect to the server and wait for 6 seconds (you can change that) and then execute whatever you need on the remote server using the same tab

tell application "Terminal"
   set currentTab to do script ("ssh user@server;")
   delay 6
   do script ("do something remote") in currentTab
end tell

AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute

You have mutual top-level imports, which is almost always a bad idea.

If you really must have mutual imports in Python, the way to do it is to import them within a function:

# In b.py:
def cause_a_to_do_something():
    import a
    a.do_something()

Now a.py can safely do import b without causing problems.

(At first glance it might appear that cause_a_to_do_something() would be hugely inefficient because it does an import every time you call it, but in fact the import work only gets done the first time. The second and subsequent times you import a module, it's a quick operation.)

MS Excel showing the formula in a cell instead of the resulting value

I had the same problem and solved with below:

Range("A").Formula = Trim(CStr("the formula"))

How to handle the modal closing event in Twitter Bootstrap?

Bootstrap Modal Events:

  1. hide.bs.modal => Occurs when the modal is about to be hidden.
  2. hidden.bs.modal => Occurs when the modal is fully hidden (after CSS transitions have completed).
<script type="text/javascript">
    $("#salesitems_modal").on('hide.bs.modal', function () {
        //actions you want to perform after modal is closed.
    });
</script>

I hope this will Help.

What is the best/simplest way to read in an XML file in Java application?

The simplest by far will be Simple http://simple.sourceforge.net, you only need to annotate a single object like so

@Root
public class Entry {

   @Attribute
   private String a
   @Attribute
   private int b;
   @Element
   private Date c;

   public String getSomething() {
      return a;
   }
}

@Root
public class Configuration {

   @ElementList(inline=true)
   private List<Entry> entries;

   public List<Entry> getEntries() {
      return entries;
   }
}

Then all you have to do to read the whole file is specify the location and it will parse and populate the annotated POJO's. This will do all the type conversions and validation. You can also annotate for persister callbacks if required. Reading it can be done like so.

Serializer serializer = new Persister();
Configuration configuraiton = serializer.read(Configuration.class, fileLocation);

Extract subset of key-value pairs from Python dictionary object?

Yet another one (I prefer Mark Longair's answer)

di = {'a':1,'b':2,'c':3}
req = ['a','c','w']
dict([i for i in di.iteritems() if i[0] in di and i[0] in req])
