Understanding REST: Verbs, error codes, and authentication

re 1: This looks fine so far. Remember to return the URI of the newly created user in a "Location:" header as part of the response to POST, along with a "201 Created" status code.

re 2: Activation via GET is a bad idea, and including the verb in the URI is a design smell. You might want to consider returning a form on a GET. In a Web app, this would be an HTML form with a submit button; in the API use case, you might want to return a representation that contains a URI to PUT to to activate the account. Of course you can include this URI in the response on POST to /users, too. Using PUT will ensure your request is idempotent, i.e. it can safely be sent again if the client isn't sure about success. In general, think about what resources you can turn your verbs into (sort of "nounification of verbs"). Ask yourself what method your specific action is most closely aligned with. E.g. change_password -> PUT; deactivate -> probably DELETE; add_credit -> possibly POST or PUT. Point the client to the appropriate URIs by including them in your representations.

re 3. Don't invent new status codes, unless you believe they're so generic they merit being standardized globally. Try hard to use the most appropriate status code available (read about all of them in RFC 2616). Include additional information in the response body. If you really, really are sure you want to invent a new status code, think again; if you still believe so, make sure to at least pick the right category (1xx -> OK, 2xx -> informational, 3xx -> redirection; 4xx-> client error, 5xx -> server error). Did I mention that inventing new status codes is a bad idea?

re 4. If in any way possible, use the authentication framework built into HTTP. Check out the way Google does authentication in GData. In general, don't put API keys in your URIs. Try to avoid sessions to enhance scalability and support caching - if the response to a request differs because of something that has happened before, you've usually tied yourself to a specific server process instance. It's much better to turn session state into either client state (e.g. make it part of subsequent requests) or make it explicit by turning it into (server) resource state, i.e. give it its own URI.

Can I stretch text using CSS?

The only way I can think of for short texts like "MENU" is to put every single letter in a span and justify them in a container afterwards. Like this:

<div class="menu-burger">
  <span></span>
  <span></span>
  <span></span>
  <div>
    <span>M</span>
    <span>E</span>
    <span>N</span>
    <span>U</span>
  </div>
</div>

And then the CSS:

.menu-burger {
  width: 50px;
  height: 50px;
  padding: 5px;
}

...

.menu-burger > div {
  display: flex;
  justify-content: space-between;
}

Difference between == and ===

In swift 3 and above

=== (or !==)

  • Checks if the values are identical (both point to the same memory address).
  • Comparing reference types.
  • Like == in Obj-C (pointer equality).

== (or !=)

  • Checks if the values are the same.
  • Comparing value types.
  • Like the default isEqual: in Obj-C behavior.

Here I compare three instances (class is a reference type)

class Person {}

let person = Person()
let person2 = person
let person3 = Person()

person === person2 // true
person === person3 // false

How to use 'find' to search for files created on a specific date?

Open Sublime Text from Terminal in macOS

I'm using oh-my-zsh on Mac OSX Mavericks and the symbol link didn't work for me, so I added an alias in my .zshrc file instead:

alias subl="/Applications/Sublime\ Text.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl"

Open a new terminal and you should be good to go, and type subl.

How to fast get Hardware-ID in C#?

We use a combination of the processor id number (ProcessorID) from Win32_processor and the universally unique identifier (UUID) from Win32_ComputerSystemProduct:

ManagementObjectCollection mbsList = null;
ManagementObjectSearcher mos = new ManagementObjectSearcher("Select ProcessorID From Win32_processor");
mbsList = mos.Get();
string processorId = string.Empty;
foreach (ManagementBaseObject mo in mbsList)
{
    processorId = mo["ProcessorID"] as string;
}

mos = new ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT UUID FROM Win32_ComputerSystemProduct");
mbsList = mos.Get();
string systemId = string.Empty;
foreach (ManagementBaseObject mo in mbsList)
{
    systemId = mo["UUID"] as string;
}

var compIdStr = $"{processorId}{systemId}";

Previously, we used a combination: processor ID ("Select ProcessorID From Win32_processor") and the motherboard serial number ("SELECT SerialNumber FROM Win32_BaseBoard"), but then we found out that the serial number of the motherboard may not be filled in, or it may be filled in with uniform values:

  • To be filled by O.E.M.
  • None
  • Default string

Therefore, it is worth considering this situation.

Also keep in mind that the ProcessorID number may be the same on different computers.

How to place object files in separate subdirectory

The VPATH lines are wrong, they should be

vpath %.c  src
vpath %.h  src

i.e. not capital and without the = . As it is now, it doesn't find the .h file and thinks it is a target to be made.

How to compare a local git branch with its remote branch?

tl;dr: git diff <local branch> <remote branch>

When using git on the shell, I like to first orient myself by looking around. Here's a command to show all branches

$ git branch -a # (or git branch --all)
* my-branch
  master
  remotes/origin/some-branch
  remotes/origin/HEAD -> origin/master
  remotes/origin/my-branch
  remotes/origin/some-other-branch
  remotes/origin/master

Here I have two local branches (my-branch and master) and 4 remote (some-branch, some-other-branch, master, and my-branch).

Also, the asterisk next to my-branch signals the fact that I'm currently in that branch (you would also know that by using the command git status that would output: On branch my-branch.).

Note: the remote branches in the git bash shell are shown in red while the local ones are shown in green.

If you just want to show remote branches:

$ git branch -r # (or git branch --remotes)
  origin/some-branch
  origin/HEAD -> origin/master
  origin/my-branch
  origin/some-other-branch
  origin/master

To show just local branches you might be tempted to use git branch -l but that's a completely different command. To show local branches use git branch with no options

$ git branch
* my-branch
  master

To complete a review of the basic branch options there's the --list that contrary to what you might expect is there to allow filtering. Use it with a pattern like this:

$ git branch --list 'my*'
* my-branch

You can also combine --list with the options -a and -r but make sure to adapt your pattern accordingly (remember: remote branches start with "remotes"). Example:

# this will show all branches (local & remote) that start with my
$ git branch --list 'my*' -a
* my-branch

# better: the pattern includes the remote
$ git branch --list '*my*' -a
* my-branch
  remotes/origin/my-branch

Docs: https://git-scm.com/docs/git-branch

Now you can compare any two branches from all the available ones (you can also compare two locals or two remotes).

Here I'm comparing the local with the remote my-branch, they're synchronized so I don't get any output:

$ git diff my-branch remotes/origin/my-branch

Note: you have to give the full names of the branches with no quotation marks.

I can also compare the local my-branch to the remote master. Here I get some output because the remote my-branch hasn't been merged into the master branch.

$ git diff my-branch remotes/origin/master
diff --git a/src/controllers/call.controller.js b/src/controllers/call.controller.js

Location of hibernate.cfg.xml in project?

try below code it will solve your problem.

Configuration  configuration = new Configuration().configure("/logic/hibernate.cfg.xml");

Get GPS location via a service in Android

All these answers doesn't work from M - to - Android"O" - 8, Due to Dozer mode that restrict the service - whatever service or any background operation that requires discrete things in background would be no longer able to run.

So the approach would be listening to the system FusedLocationApiClient through BroadCastReciever that always listening the location and work even in Doze mode.

Posting the link would be pointless, please search FusedLocation with Broadcast receiver.

Thanks

Why is my Spring @Autowired field null?

I think you have missed to instruct spring to scan classes with annotation.

You can use @ComponentScan("packageToScan") on the configuration class of your spring application to instruct spring to scan.

@Service, @Component etc annotations add meta description.

Spring only injects instances of those classes which are either created as bean or marked with annotation.

Classes marked with annotation need to be identified by spring before injecting, @ComponentScan instruct spring look for the classes marked with annotation. When Spring finds @Autowired it searches for the related bean, and injects the required instance.

Adding annotation only, does not fix or facilitate the dependency injection, Spring needs to know where to look for.

How to close a Tkinter window by pressing a Button?

With minimal editing to your code (Not sure if they've taught classes or not in your course), change:

def close_window(root):
    root.destroy()

to

def close_window():
    window.destroy()

and it should work.

Explanation:

Your version of close_window is defined to expect a single argument, namely root. Subsequently, any calls to your version of close_window need to have that argument, or Python will give you a run-time error.

When you created a Button, you told the button to run close_window when it is clicked. However, the source code for Button widget is something like:

# class constructor
def __init__(self, some_args, command, more_args):
    #...
    self.command = command
    #...

# this method is called when the user clicks the button
def clicked(self):
    #...
    self.command() # Button calls your function with no arguments.
    #...

As my code states, the Button class will call your function with no arguments. However your function is expecting an argument. Thus you had an error. So, if we take out that argument, so that the function call will execute inside the Button class, we're left with:

def close_window():
    root.destroy()

That's not right, though, either, because root is never assigned a value. It would be like typing in print(x) when you haven't defined x, yet.

Looking at your code, I figured you wanted to call destroy on window, so I changed root to window.

How do you prevent install of "devDependencies" NPM modules for Node.js (package.json)?

I run into that problem too! npm install is somewhat confusing and web posts keep bringing in the -d/--dev flags as if there is an explicit 'development' install mode.

  • npm install will install both "dependencies" and "devDependencies"

  • npm install --production will only install "dependencies"

  • npm install --dev will only install "devDependencies"

How can I get customer details from an order in WooCommerce?

Although, this may not be advisable.

If you want to get customer details, even when the user doesn’t create an account, but only makes an order, you could just query it, directly from the database.

Although, there may be performance issues, querying directly. But this surely works 100%.

You can search by post_id and meta_keys.

 global $wpdb; // Get the global $wpdb
 $order_id = {Your Order Id}

 $table = $wpdb->prefix . 'postmeta';
 $sql = 'SELECT * FROM `'. $table . '` WHERE post_id = '. $order_id;

        $result = $wpdb->get_results($sql);
        foreach($result as $res) {
            if( $res->meta_key == 'billing_phone'){
                   $phone = $res->meta_value;      // get billing phone
            }
            if( $res->meta_key == 'billing_first_name'){
                   $firstname = $res->meta_value;   // get billing first name
            }

            // You can get other values
            // billing_last_name
            // billing_email
            // billing_country
            // billing_address_1
            // billing_address_2

How to set up googleTest as a shared library on Linux

Update for Debian/Ubuntu

Google Mock (package: google-mock) and Google Test (package: libgtest-dev) have been merged. The new package is called googletest. Both old names are still available for backwards compatibility and now depend on the new package googletest.

So, to get your libraries from the package repository, you can do the following:

sudo apt-get install googletest -y
cd /usr/src/googletest
sudo mkdir build
cd build
sudo cmake ..
sudo make
sudo cp googlemock/*.a googlemock/gtest/*.a /usr/lib

After that, you can link against -lgmock (or against -lgmock_main if you do not use a custom main method) and -lpthread. This was sufficient for using Google Test in my cases at least.

If you want the most current version of Google Test, download it from github. After that, the steps are similar:

git clone https://github.com/google/googletest
cd googletest
sudo mkdir build
cd build
sudo cmake ..
sudo make
sudo cp lib/*.a /usr/lib

As you can see, the path where the libraries are created has changed. Keep in mind that the new path might be valid for the package repositories soon, too.

Instead of copying the libraries manually, you could use sudo make install. It "currently" works, but be aware that it did not always work in the past. Also, you don't have control over the target location when using this command and you might not want to pollute /usr/lib.

Trust Store vs Key Store - creating with keytool

There is no difference between keystore and truststore files. Both are files in the proprietary JKS file format. The distinction is in the use: To the best of my knowledge, Java will only use the store that is referenced by the -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore system property to look for certificates to trust when creating SSL connections. Same for keys and -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore. But in theory it's fine to use one and the same file for trust- and keystores.

Using getline() in C++

The code is correct. The problem must lie somewhere else. Try the minimalistic example from the std::getline documentation.

main ()
{
    std::string name;

    std::cout << "Please, enter your full name: ";
    std::getline (std::cin,name);
    std::cout << "Hello, " << name << "!\n";

    return 0;
}

What is the best way to calculate a checksum for a file that is on my machine?

Note that the above solutions will not tell you if your installation is correct only if your install.exe is correct (you can trust it to produce a correct install.)

You would need MD5 sums for each file/folder to test if the installed code has been messed with after the install completed.

WinMerg is useful to compare two installs (on two different machines perhaps) to see if one has been changed or why one is broken.

How to make child divs always fit inside parent div?

I had a similar problem, but in my case, I have content in my div that height-wise will exceed the boundaries of the parent div. When it does, I want it to auto-scroll. I was able to accomplish this by using

.vscrolling_container { height: 100%; overflow: auto; }

Read MS Exchange email in C#

One option is to use Outlook. We have a mail manager application that access an exchange server and uses outlook as the interface. Its dirty but it works.

Example code:

public Outlook.MAPIFolder getInbox()
        {
            mailSession = new Outlook.Application();
            mailNamespace = mailSession.GetNamespace("MAPI");
            mailNamespace.Logon(mail_username, mail_password, false, true);
            return MailNamespace.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderInbox);
        }

Communicating between a fragment and an activity - best practices

It is implemented by a Callback interface:

First of all, we have to make an interface:

public interface UpdateFrag {
     void updatefrag();
}

In the Activity do the following code:

UpdateFrag updatfrag ;

public void updateApi(UpdateFrag listener) {
        updatfrag = listener;
}

from the event from where the callback has to fire in the Activity:

updatfrag.updatefrag();

In the Fragment implement the interface in CreateView do the following code:

 ((Home)getActivity()).updateApi(new UpdateFrag() {
        @Override
        public void updatefrag() {
              .....your stuff......
        }
 });

A simple jQuery form validation script

You can simply use the jQuery Validate plugin as follows.

jQuery:

    $('#myform').validate({ // initialize the plugin
        rules: {
            field1: {
                required: true,
                email: true
            },
            field2: {
                required: true,
                minlength: 5
            }
        }
    });

});

How to grep a text file which contains some binary data?

grep -a will force grep to search and output from a file that grep thinks is binary. grep -a re test.log

Upload failed You need to use a different version code for your APK because you already have one with version code 2

android:versionCode="28"

Your previous versionCode was 28. You should increment it by 1 to 29.

android:versionCode="29"

Presumably, your previous app versions were 1 through 28. By releasing with versionCode 3, you are conflicting with a previous version of your app that was already released with this versionCode.

How to substitute shell variables in complex text files

Actually you need to change your read to read -r which will make it ignore backslashes.

Also, you should escape quotes and backslashes. So

while read -r line; do
  line="${line//\\/\\\\}"
  line="${line//\"/\\\"}"
  line="${line//\`/\\\`}"
  eval echo "\"$line\""
done > destination.txt < source.txt

Still a terrible way to do expansion though.

Pythonic way to create a long multi-line string

For example:

sql = ("select field1, field2, field3, field4 "
       "from table "
       "where condition1={} "
       "and condition2={}").format(1, 2)

Output: 'select field1, field2, field3, field4 from table
         where condition1=1 and condition2=2'

If the value of the condition should be a string, you can do it like this:

sql = ("select field1, field2, field3, field4 "
       "from table "
       "where condition1='{0}' "
       "and condition2='{1}'").format('2016-10-12', '2017-10-12')

Output: "select field1, field2, field3, field4 from table where
         condition1='2016-10-12' and condition2='2017-10-12'"

JavaScript naming conventions

One convention I'd like to try out is naming static modules with a 'the' prefix. Check this out. When I use someone else's module, it's not easy to see how I'm supposed to use it. eg:

define(['Lightbox'],function(Lightbox) {
  var myLightbox = new Lightbox() // not sure whether this is a constructor (non-static) or not
  myLightbox.show('hello')
})

I'm thinking about trying a convention where static modules use 'the' to indicate their preexistence. Has anyone seen a better way than this? Would look like this:

define(['theLightbox'],function(theLightbox) {
  theLightbox.show('hello') // since I recognize the 'the' convention, I know it's static
})

Chrome Extension: Make it run every page load

This code should do it:

manifest.json

   {
      "name": "Alert 'hello world!' on page opening",
      "version": "1.0",
      "manifest_version": 2,
      "content_scripts": [
        {
          "matches": [
            "<all_urls>"
          ],
          "js": ["content.js"]
        }
      ]
    }

content.js

alert('Hello world!')

How to do a recursive find/replace of a string with awk or sed?

If you wanted to use this without completely destroying your SVN repository, you can tell 'find' to ignore all hidden files by doing:

want current date and time in "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss.SS" format

Here's a simple snippet working in Java 8 and using the "new" date and time API LocalDateTime:

LocalDateTime now = LocalDateTime.now();
System.out.println(dtf.format(now));

How do I tell Matplotlib to create a second (new) plot, then later plot on the old one?

However, numbering starts at 1, so:

x = arange(5)
y = np.exp(5)
plt.figure(1)
plt.plot(x, y)

z = np.sin(x)
plt.figure(2)
plt.plot(x, z)

w = np.cos(x)
plt.figure(1) # Here's the part I need, but numbering starts at 1!
plt.plot(x, w)

Also, if you have multiple axes on a figure, such as subplots, use the axes(h) command where h is the handle of the desired axes object to focus on that axes.

#we capture release hash
$curr_os = $os['release']

case $curr_os['major'] {
  '7': { .... something }
  *: {something}
}

That is an fast example, Might have typos, or not exactly working. But using system facts you can see what happens.

The OS fact provides you 3 main variables: name, family, release... Under release you have a small dictionary with more information about your os! combining these you can create cases to meet your targets.

Combine two arrays

To do this, you can loop through one and append to the other:

<?php

$test1 = array(
'11' => '11',
'22' => '22',
'33' => '33',
'44' => '44'
);

$test2 = array(
'44' => '44',
'55' => '55',
'66' => '66',
'77' => '77'
);

function combineWithKeys($array1, $array2)
{
    foreach($array1 as $key=>$value) $array2[$key] = $value;
    asort($array2);
    return $array2;
}

print_r(combineWithKeys($test1, $test2));

?>

UPDATE: KingCrunch came up with the best solution: print_r($array1+$array2);

Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA with multiple DataSources

here is my solution. base on spring-boot.1.2.5.RELEASE.

public class DataSourceConfig {
    @Bean
    @Primary
    @ConfigurationProperties(prefix="first.datasource")
    public DataSource firstDataSource() {
        DataSource ds =  DataSourceBuilder.create().build();
        return ds;
    }

    @Bean
    @ConfigurationProperties(prefix="second.datasource")
    public DataSource secondDataSource() {
        DataSource ds =  DataSourceBuilder.create().build();

Parsing string as JSON with single quotes?

var str =  "{'a':1}";
str = str.replace(/'/g, '"')
obj = JSON.parse(str);
console.log(obj);

This solved the problem for me.

How to see docker image contents

We can try a simpler one as follows:

docker image inspect image_id

This worked in Docker version:

DockerVersion": "18.05.0-ce"

How to make sql-mode="NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION" permanent in MySQL my.cnf

On Linux Mint 18 the default config file that has the sql-mode option set is located here :

/usr/my.cnf

And relevant line is:

sql_mode=NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION,STRICT_TRANS_TABLES

So You can set there.

If not sure what config file has such option You can search for it:

$ sudo find / -iname "*my.cnf*"

And get a list:

/var/lib/dpkg/alternatives/my.cnf
/usr/my.cnf
/etc/alternatives/my.cnf
/etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback
/etc/mysql/my.cnf

Git command to show which specific files are ignored by .gitignore

Another option that's pretty clean (No pun intended.):

git clean -ndX

Explanation:

$ git help clean

git-clean - Remove untracked files from the working tree
-n, --dry-run - Don't actually remove anything, just show what would be done.
-d - Remove untracked directories in addition to untracked files.
-X - Remove only files ignored by Git.

Note: This solution will not show ignored files that have already been removed.

Place a button right aligned

To keep the button in the page flow:

<input type="button" value="Click Me" style="margin-left: auto; display: block;" />

(put that style in a .css file, do not use this html inline, for better maintenance)

How can I iterate through a string and also know the index (current position)?

I would use it-str.begin() In this particular case std::distance and operator- are the same. But if container will change to something without random access, std::distance will increment first argument until it reach second, giving thus linear time and operator- will not compile. Personally I prefer the second behaviour - it's better to be notified when you algorithm from O(n) became O(n^2)...

Java client certificates over HTTPS/SSL

Have you set the KeyStore and/or TrustStore System properties?

java -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=pathToKeystore -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=123456

or from with the code

System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", pathToKeyStore);

Same with javax.net.ssl.trustStore

Store boolean value in SQLite

But,if you want to store a bunch of them you could bit-shift them and store them all as one int, a little like unix file permissions/modes.

For mode 755 for instance, each digit refers to a different class of users: owner, group, public. Within each digit 4 is read, 2 is write, 1 is execute so 7 is all of them like binary 111. 5 is read and execute so 101. Make up your own encoding scheme.

I'm just writing something for storing TV schedule data from Schedules Direct and I have the binary or yes/no fields: stereo, hdtv, new, ei, close captioned, dolby, sap in Spanish, season premiere. So 7 bits, or an integer with a maximum of 127. One character really.

A C example from what I'm working on now. has() is a function that returns 1 if the 2nd string is in the first one. inp is the input string to this function. misc is an unsigned char initialized to 0.

if (has(inp,"sap='Spanish'") > 0)
  misc += 1;
if (has(inp,"stereo='true'") > 0)
  misc +=2;
if (has(inp,"ei='true'") > 0)
  misc +=4;
if (has(inp,"closeCaptioned='true'") > 0)
  misc += 8;
if (has(inp,"dolby=") > 0)
  misc += 16;
if (has(inp,"new='true'") > 0)
  misc += 32;
if (has(inp,"premier_finale='") > 0)
  misc += 64;
if (has(inp,"hdtv='true'") > 0)
  misc += 128;

So I'm storing 7 booleans in one integer with room for more.

Check if a string within a list contains a specific string with Linq

If yoou use Contains, you could get false positives. Suppose you have a string that contains such text: "My text data Mdd LH" Using Contains method, this method will return true for call. The approach is use equals operator:

bool exists = myStringList.Any(c=>c == "Mdd LH")

Use of contains in Java ArrayList<String>

You are right. ArrayList.contains() tests equals(), not object identity:

returns true if and only if this list contains at least one element e such that (o==null ? e==null : o.equals(e))

If you got a NullPointerException, verify that you initialized your list, either in a constructor or the declaration. For example:

private List<String> rssFeedURLs = new ArrayList<String>();

Compare two files in Visual Studio

I had this problem as well. No TFS, but I found this article helpful.

How to get array keys in Javascript?

... ????

Alternatively, if you have a list of items you want to use...

var range = [46, 66, 90]
    , widthRange=[]
    , write=[];

    widthRange[46] = { min:0, max:52 };
    widthRange[66] = { min:52, max:70 };
    widthRange[90] = { min:70, max:94 };

for(var x=0; x<range.length; x++){var key, wr;

    key = range[x];

    wr = widthRange[key] || false;

    if(wr===false){continue;}

    write.push(['key: #',key, ', min: ', wr.min, 'max:', wr.max].join(''));

    }

Why does Eclipse complain about @Override on interface methods?

By configuring that the IDE projects are setup to use a Java 6 JRE or above sometimes does not remove the eclipse error. For me a restart of the Eclipe IDE helped.

AngularJS $location not changing the path

In my case, the problem was the optional parameter indicator('?') missing in my template configuration.

For example:

.when('/abc/:id?', {
    templateUrl: 'views/abc.html',
    controller: 'abcControl'
})

$location.path('/abc');

Without the interrogation character the route obviously would not change suppressing the route parameter.

Retrieving Android API version programmatically

android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK should give you the value of the API Level. You can easily find the mapping from api level to android version in the android documentation. I believe, 8 is for 2.2, 7 for 2.1, and so on.

WPF MVVM: How to close a window

I have following solution in Silverlight. Would also be in WPF.

Max retries exceeded with URL in requests

Adding my own experience :

r = requests.get(download_url)

when I tried to download a file specified in the url.

The error was

HTTPSConnectionPool(host, port=443): Max retries exceeded with url (Caused by SSLError(SSLError("bad handshake: Error([('SSL routines', 'tls_process_server_certificate', 'certificate verify failed')])")))

I corrected it by adding verify = False in the function as follows :

r = requests.get(download_url + filename)
open(filename, 'wb').write(r.content)

How to display an activity indicator with text on iOS 8 with Swift?

Heres how this code looks:

enter image description here

Heres my drag and drop code:

R: invalid multibyte string

I had a similarly strange problem with a file from the program e-prime (edat -> SPSS conversion), but then I discovered that there are many additional encodings you can use. this did the trick for me:

tbl <- read.delim("dir/file.txt", fileEncoding="UCS-2LE")

Stop mouse event propagation

The simplest is to call stop propagation on an event handler. $event works the same in Angular 2, and contains the ongoing event (by it a mouse click, mouse event, etc.):

(click)="onEvent($event)"

on the event handler, we can there stop the propagation:

onEvent(event) {
   event.stopPropagation();
}

Creating a very simple linked list

I've created the following LinkedList code with many features. It is available for public under the CodeBase github public repo.

Classes: Node and LinkedList

Getters and Setters: First and Last

Functions: AddFirst(data), AddFirst(node), AddLast(data), RemoveLast(), AddAfter(node, data), RemoveBefore(node), Find(node), Remove(foundNode), Print(LinkedList)

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;

namespace Codebase
{
    public class Node
    {
        public object Data { get; set; }
        public Node Next { get; set; }

        public Node()
        {
        }

        public Node(object Data, Node Next = null)
        {
            this.Data = Data;
            this.Next = Next;
        }
    }

    public class LinkedList
    {
        private Node Head;
        public Node First
        {
            get => Head;
            set
            {
                First.Data = value.Data;
                First.Next = value.Next;

                    p = p.Next; //traverse the list until p is the last node.The last node always points to NULL.

Using @yogihosting answer when she used the Microsoft built-in LinkedList and LinkedListNode to answer the question, you can achieve the same results:

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using Codebase;

namespace Cmd
{
    static class Program
    {
        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            var tune = new LinkedList(); //Using custom code instead of the built-in LinkedList<T>
            tune.AddFirst("do"); // do
            tune.AddLast("so"); // do - so
            tune.AddAfter(tune.First, "re"); // do - re- so
            tune.AddAfter(tune.First.Next, "mi"); // do - re - mi- so
            tune.AddBefore(tune.Last, "fa"); // do - re - mi - fa- so
            tune.RemoveFirst(); // re - mi - fa - so
            tune.RemoveLast(); // re - mi - fa
            Node miNode = tune.Find("mi"); //Using custom code instead of the built in LinkedListNode
            tune.Remove(miNode); // re - fa
            tune.AddFirst(miNode); // mi- re - fa
 }
}

What is the difference between docker-compose ports vs expose

I totally agree with the answers before. I just like to mention that the difference between expose and ports is part of the security concept in docker. It goes hand in hand with the networking of docker. For example:

Imagine an application with a web front-end and a database back-end. The outside world needs access to the web front-end (perhaps on port 80), but only the back-end itself needs access to the database host and port. Using a user-defined bridge, only the web port needs to be opened, and the database application doesn’t need any ports open, since the web front-end can reach it over the user-defined bridge.

This is a common use case when setting up a network architecture in docker. So for example in a default bridge network, not ports are accessible from the outer world. Therefor you can open an ingresspoint with "ports". With using "expose" you define communication within the network. If you want to expose the default ports you don't need to define "expose" in your docker-compose file.

How do you check if a string is not equal to an object or other string value in java?

Change your || to && so it will only exit if the answer is NEITHER "AM" nor "PM".

How does numpy.histogram() work?

A bin is range that represents the width of a single bar of the histogram along the X-axis. You could also call this the interval. (Wikipedia defines them more formally as "disjoint categories".)

The Numpy histogram function doesn't draw the histogram, but it computes the occurrences of input data that fall within each bin, which in turns determines the area (not necessarily the height if the bins aren't of equal width) of each bar.

In this example:

 np.histogram([1, 2, 1], bins=[0, 1, 2, 3])

There are 3 bins, for values ranging from 0 to 1 (excl 1.), 1 to 2 (excl. 2) and 2 to 3 (incl. 3), respectively. The way Numpy defines these bins if by giving a list of delimiters ([0, 1, 2, 3]) in this example, although it also returns the bins in the results, since it can choose them automatically from the input, if none are specified. If bins=5, for example, it will use 5 bins of equal width spread between the minimum input value and the maximum input value.

The input values are 1, 2 and 1. Therefore, bin "1 to 2" contains two occurrences (the two 1 values), and bin "2 to 3" contains one occurrence (the 2). These results are in the first item in the returned tuple: array([0, 2, 1]).

Since the bins here are of equal width, you can use the number of occurrences for the height of each bar. When drawn, you would have:

  • a bar of height 0 for range/bin [0,1] on the X-axis,
  • a bar of height 2 for range/bin [1,2],
  • a bar of height 1 for range/bin [2,3].

You can plot this directly with Matplotlib (its hist function also returns the bins and the values):

>>> import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
>>> plt.hist([1, 2, 1], bins=[0, 1, 2, 3])
(array([0, 2, 1]), array([0, 1, 2, 3]), <a list of 3 Patch objects>)
>>> plt.show()

How to "pretty" format JSON output in Ruby on Rails

Here's my solution which I derived from other posts during my own search.

This allows you to send the pp and jj output to a file as needed.

require "pp"
require "json"

class File
  def pp(*objs)
    objs.each {|obj|
      PP.pp(obj, self)
    }
    objs.size <= 1 ? objs.first : objs
  end
  def jj(*objs)
    objs.each {|obj|
      obj = JSON.parse(obj.to_json)
      self.puts JSON.pretty_generate(obj)
    }
    objs.size <= 1 ? objs.first : objs
  end
end

test_object = { :name => { first: "Christopher", last: "Mullins" }, :grades => [ "English" => "B+", "Algebra" => "A+" ] }

test_json_object = JSON.parse(test_object.to_json)

File.open("log/object_dump.txt", "w") do |file|
  file.pp(test_object)
end

File.open("log/json_dump.txt", "w") do |file|
  file.jj(test_json_object)
end

Conflict with dependency 'com.android.support:support-annotations' in project ':app'. Resolved versions for app (26.1.0) and test app (27.1.1) differ.

A better solution is explained in the official explanation. I left the answer I have given before under the horizontal line.

According to the solution there:

Use an external tag and write down the following code below in the top-level build.gradle file. You're going to change the version to a variable rather than a static version number.

ext {
    compileSdkVersion = 26
    supportLibVersion = "27.1.1"
}

Change the static version numbers in your app-level build.gradle file, the one has (Module: app) near.

android {
    compileSdkVersion rootProject.ext.compileSdkVersion // It was 26 for example
    // the below lines will stay
}

// here there are some other stuff maybe

dependencies {
    implementation "com.android.support:appcompat-v7:${rootProject.ext.supportLibVersion}"
    // the below lines will stay
}

Sync your project and you'll get no errors.

You don't need to add anything to Gradle scripts. Install the necessary SDKs and the problem will be solved.

In your case, install the libraries below from Preferences > Android SDK or Tools > Android > SDK Manager

Looping through JSON with node.js

Take a look at Traverse. It will recursively walk an object tree for you and at every node you have a number of different objects you can access - key of current node, value of current node, parent of current node, full key path of current node, etc. https://github.com/substack/js-traverse. I've used it to good effect on objects that I wanted to scrub circular references to and when I need to do a deep clone while transforming various data bits. Here's some code pulled form their samples to give you a flavor of what it can do.

var id = 54;
var callbacks = {};
var obj = { moo : function () {}, foo : [2,3,4, function () {}] };

var scrubbed = traverse(obj).map(function (x) {
    if (typeof x === 'function') {
        callbacks[id] = { id : id, f : x, path : this.path };
        this.update('[Function]');
        id++;
    }
});

console.dir(scrubbed);
console.dir(callbacks);

how to change the dist-folder path in angular-cli after 'ng build'

For Angular 6+ things have changed a little.

Define where ng build generates app files

Cli setup is now done in angular.json (replaced .angular-cli.json) in your workspace root directory. The output path in default angular.json should look like this (irrelevant lines removed):

{
  "projects": {
    "my-app-name": {
    "architect": {
      "options": {
         "outputPath": "dist/my-app-name",

Obviously, this will generate your app in WORKSPACE/dist/my-app-name. Modify outputPath if you prefer another directory.

You can overwrite the output path using command line arguments (e.g. for CI jobs):

ng build -op dist/example
ng build --output-path=dist/example

S.a. https://github.com/angular/angular-cli/wiki/build

Hosting angular app in subdirectory

Setting the output path, will tell angular where to place the "compiled" files but however you change the output path, when running the app, angular will still assume that the app is hosted in the webserver's document root.

To make it work in a sub directory, you'll have to set the base href.

In angular.json:

{
  "projects": {
    "my-app-name": {
    "architect": {
      "options": {
         "baseHref": "/my-folder/",

Cli:

ng build --base-href=/my-folder/

If you don't know where the app will be hosted on build time, you can change base tag in generated index.html.

Here's an example how we do it in our docker container:

entrypoint.sh

if [ -n "${BASE_PATH}" ]
then
  files=( $(find . -name "index.html") )
  cp -n "${files[0]}" "${files[0]}.org"
  cp "${files[0]}.org" "${files[0]}"
  sed -i "s*<base href=\"/\">*<base href=\"${BASE_PATH}\">*g" "${files[0]}"
fi

Getting the source of a specific image element with jQuery

To select and element where you know only the attribute value you can use the below jQuery script

var src = $('.conversation_img[alt="example"]').attr('src');

Please refer the jQuery Documentation for attribute equals selectors

Please also refer to the example in Demo

Following is the code incase you are not able to access the demo..

HTML

<div>
    <img alt="example" src="\images\show.jpg" />
    <img  alt="exampleAll" src="\images\showAll.jpg" />

</div>

SCRIPT JQUERY

var src = $('img[alt="example"]').attr('src');
alert("source of image with alternate text = example - " + src);

var srcAll = $('img[alt="exampleAll"]').attr('src');
alert("source of image with alternate text = exampleAll - " + srcAll );

Output will be

Two Alert messages each having values

  1. source of image with alternate text = example - \images\show.jpg
  2. source of image with alternate text = exampleAll - \images\showAll.jpg

Why does CSV file contain a blank line in between each data line when outputting with Dictwriter in Python

Changing the 'w' (write) in this line:

output = csv.DictWriter(open('file3.csv','w'), delimiter=',', fieldnames=headers)

To 'wb' (write binary) fixed this problem for me:

output = csv.DictWriter(open('file3.csv','wb'), delimiter=',', fieldnames=headers)

How to request Google to re-crawl my website?

There are two options. The first (and better) one is using the Fetch as Google option in Webmaster Tools that Mike Flynn commented about. Here are detailed instructions:

  1. Go to: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ and log in
  2. If you haven't already, add and verify the site with the "Add a Site" button
  3. Click on the site name for the one you want to manage
  4. Click Crawl -> Fetch as Google
  5. Optional: if you want to do a specific page only, type in the URL
  6. Click Fetch
  7. Click Submit to Index
  8. Select either "URL" or "URL and its direct links"
  9. Click OK and you're done.

With the option above, as long as every page can be reached from some link on the initial page or a page that it links to, Google should recrawl the whole thing. If you want to explicitly tell it a list of pages to crawl on the domain, you can follow the directions to submit a sitemap.

Your second (and generally slower) option is, as seanbreeden pointed out, submitting here: http://www.google.com/addurl/

Update 2019:

  1. Login to - Google Search Console
  2. Add a site and verify it with the available methods.
  3. After verification from the console, click on URL Inspection.
  4. In the Search bar on top, enter your website URL or custom URLs for inspection and enter.
  5. After Inspection, it'll show an option to Request Indexing
  6. Click on it and GoogleBot will add your website in a Queue for crawling.

  1. Drag the resource into your xcode project (I dragged a folder named www from my finder window), you will get two options "create groups for any added folders" and "create folders references for any added folders".
  2. Select the "create folder references.." option.
  3. Use the below given code. It should work like a charm.

    NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"index" ofType:@"html" inDirectory:@"www"]];
    [webview loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]];

Now all your relative links(like img/.gif, js/.js) in the html should get resolved.

Swift 3

    if let path = Bundle.main.path(forResource: "dados", ofType: "html", inDirectory: "root") {
        webView.load( URLRequest(url: URL(fileURLWithPath: path)) )
    }

Add new value to an existing array in JavaScript

You can use the .push() method (which is standard JavaScript)

e.g.

var primates = new Array();
primates.push('monkey');
primates.push('chimp');

Android DialogFragment vs Dialog

May I suggest a little simplification of @ashishduh's answer:

public class AlertDialogFragment extends DialogFragment {
public static final String ARG_TITLE = "AlertDialog.Title";
public static final String ARG_MESSAGE = "AlertDialog.Message";

public static void showAlert(String title, String message, Fragment targetFragment) {
    DialogFragment dialog = new AlertDialogFragment();
    Bundle args = new Bundle();
    args.putString(ARG_TITLE, title);
    args.putString(ARG_MESSAGE, message);
    dialog.setArguments(args);
    dialog.setTargetFragment(targetFragment, 0);
    dialog.show(targetFragment.getFragmentManager(), "tag");
}

public AlertDialogFragment() {}

@NonNull
@Override
public AlertDialog onCreateDialog(Bundle savedInstanceState)
{
    Bundle args = getArguments();
    String title = args.getString(ARG_TITLE, "");
    String message = args.getString(ARG_MESSAGE, "");

    return new AlertDialog.Builder(getActivity())
            .setTitle(title)
            .setMessage(message)
            .setPositiveButton(android.R.string.ok, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener()
            {
                @Override
                public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which)
                {
                    getTargetFragment().onActivityResult(getTargetRequestCode(), Activity.RESULT_OK, null);
                }
            })
            .create();
}

It removes the need for the user (of the class) to be familiar with the internals of the component and makes usage really simple:

AlertDialogFragment.showAlert(title, message, this);

P.S. In my case I needed a simple alert dialog so that's what I created. You can apply the approach to a Yes/No or any other type you need.

Change Bootstrap input focus blue glow

To disable the blue glow (but you can modify the code to change color, size, etc), add this to your css:

.search-form input[type="search"] {
    -webkit-box-shadow: none;
    outline: -webkit-focus-ring-color auto 0px;
}

Here's a screencapture showing the effect: before and after: enter image description here enter image description here

Hibernate Annotations - Which is better, field or property access?

AccessType.PROPERTY: The EJB persistence implementation will load state into your class via JavaBean "setter" methods, and retrieve state from your class using JavaBean "getter" methods. This is the default.

AccessType.FIELD: State is loaded and retrieved directly from your class' fields. You do not have to write JavaBean "getters" and "setters".

Change table header color using bootstrap

You could simply apply one of the bootstrap contextual background colors to the header row. In this case (blue background, white text): primary.

How do you run a command as an administrator from the Windows command line?

Simple pipe trick, ||, with some .vbs used at top of your batch. It will exit regular and restart as administrator.

@AT>NUL||echo set shell=CreateObject("Shell.Application"):shell.ShellExecute "%~dpnx0",,"%CD%", "runas", 1:set shell=nothing>%~n0.vbs&start %~n0.vbs /realtime& timeout 1 /NOBREAK>nul& del /Q %~n0.vbs&cls&exit

It also del /Q the temp.vbs when it's done using it.

The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required?

If it's a new google account, you have to send an email (the first one) through the regular user interface. After that you can use your application/robot to send messages.

How do I print a double value without scientific notation using Java?

I needed to convert some double to currency values and found that most of the solutions were OK, but not for me.

The DecimalFormat was eventually the way for me, so here is what I've done:

   public String foo(double value) //Got here 6.743240136E7 or something..
    {
        DecimalFormat formatter;

        if(value - (int)value > 0.0)
            formatter = new DecimalFormat("0.00"); // Here you can also deal with rounding if you wish..
        else
            formatter = new DecimalFormat("0");

        return formatter.format(value);
    }

As you can see, if the number is natural I get - say - 20000000 instead of 2E7 (etc.) - without any decimal point.

And if it's decimal, I get only two decimal digits.

How to check if a column is empty or null using SQL query select statement?

An answer above got me 99% of the way there (thanks Denis Ivin!). For my PHP / MySQL implementation, I needed to change the syntax a little:

SELECT *
FROM UserProfile
WHERE PropertydefinitionID in (40, 53)
AND (LENGTH(IFNULL(PropertyValue,'')) = 0)

LEN becomes LENGTH and ISNULL becomes IFNULL.

Oracle - How to create a materialized view with FAST REFRESH and JOINS

To start with, from the Oracle Database Data Warehousing Guide:

Restrictions on Fast Refresh on Materialized Views with Joins Only

...

  • Rowids of all the tables in the FROM list must appear in the SELECT list of the query.

This means that your statement will need to look something like this:

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW MV_Test
  NOLOGGING
  CACHE
  BUILD IMMEDIATE
  REFRESH FAST ON COMMIT
  AS
    SELECT V.*, P.*, V.ROWID as V_ROWID, P.ROWID as P_ROWID
    FROM TPM_PROJECTVERSION V,
         TPM_PROJECT P
    WHERE P.PROJECTID = V.PROJECTID

Another key aspect to note is that your materialized view logs must be created as with rowid.

Below is a functional test scenario:

CREATE TABLE foo(foo NUMBER, CONSTRAINT foo_pk PRIMARY KEY(foo));

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON foo WITH ROWID;

CREATE TABLE bar(foo NUMBER, bar NUMBER, CONSTRAINT bar_pk PRIMARY KEY(foo, bar));

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON bar WITH ROWID;

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW foo_bar
  NOLOGGING
  CACHE
  BUILD IMMEDIATE
  REFRESH FAST ON COMMIT AS SELECT foo.foo,
                                    bar.bar,
                                    foo.ROWID AS foo_rowid,
                                    bar.ROWID AS bar_rowid
                               FROM foo, bar
                              WHERE foo.foo = bar.foo;

Check if a row exists, otherwise insert

I assume a single row for each flight? If so:

IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM Bookings WHERE FLightID = @Id)
BEGIN
    --UPDATE HERE
END
ELSE
BEGIN
   -- INSERT HERE
END

I assume what I said, as your way of doing things can overbook a flight, as it will insert a new row when there are 10 tickets max and you are booking 20.

Select <a> which href ends with some string

Just in case you don't want to import a big library like jQuery to accomplish something this trivial, you can use the built-in method querySelectorAll instead. Almost all selector strings used for jQuery work with DOM methods as well:

const anchors = document.querySelectorAll('a[href$="ABC"]');

Or, if you know that there's only one matching element:

const anchor = document.querySelector('a[href$="ABC"]');

You may generally omit the quotes around the attribute value if the value you're searching for is alphanumeric, eg, here, you could also use

a[href$=ABC]

but quotes are more flexible and generally more reliable.

Is it possible to define more than one function per file in MATLAB, and access them from outside that file?

I define multiple functions in one .m file with Octave and then use the command from within the .m file where I need to make use of the functions from that file:

source("mycode.m");

Not sure if this is available with Matlab.

octave:8> help source
'source' is a built-in function

 -- Built-in Function:  source (FILE)
     Parse and execute the contents of FILE. This is equivalent to
     executing commands from a script file, but without requiring the
     file to be named `FILE.m'.

Find child element in AngularJS directive

jQlite (angular's "jQuery" port) doesn't support lookup by classes.

One solution would be to include jQuery in your app.

Another is using QuerySelector or QuerySelectorAll:

link: function(scope, element, attrs) {
   console.log(element[0].querySelector('.list-scrollable'))
}

We use the first item in the element array, which is the HTML element. element.eq(0) would yield the same.

How to convert Javascript datetime to C# datetime?

If you are in the U.S. Pacific time zone, then the epoch for you is 4 p.m. on December 31, 1969. You added the milliseconds since the epoch to

new DateTime(1970, 01, 01)

which, since it did not have a timezone, was interpreted as being in your timezone.

There is nothing really wrong with thinking of instants in time as milliseconds since the epoch but understand the epoch is only 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z.

You can't think of instants in times, when represented as dates, without timezones.

Binding multiple events to a listener (without JQuery)?

I have a simpler solution for you:

window.onload = window.onresize = (event) => {
    //Your Code Here
}

I've tested this an it works great, on the plus side it's compact and uncomplicated like the other examples here.

Excel - Sum column if condition is met by checking other column in same table

This should work, but there is a little trick. After you enter the formula, you need to hold down Ctrl+Shift while you press Enter. When you do, you'll see that the formula bar has curly-braces around your formula. This is called an array formula.

For example, if the Months are in cells A2:A100 and the amounts are in cells B2:B100, your formula would look like {=SUM(If(A2:A100="January",B2:B100))}. You don't actually type the curly-braces though.

You could also do something like =SUM((A2:A100="January")*B2:B100). You'd still need to use the trick to get it to work correctly.

nginx: connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream

I don't think that solution would work anyways because you will see some error message in your error log file.

The solution was a lot easier than what I thought.

simply, open the following path to your php5-fpm

sudo nano /etc/php5/fpm/pool.d/www.conf

or if you're the admin 'root'

nano /etc/php5/fpm/pool.d/www.conf

Then find this line and uncomment it:

listen.allowed_clients = 127.0.0.1

This solution will make you be able to use listen = 127.0.0.1:9000 in your vhost blocks

like this: fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000;

after you make the modifications, all you need is to restart or reload both Nginx and Php5-fpm

Php5-fpm

sudo service php5-fpm restart

or

sudo service php5-fpm reload

Nginx

sudo service nginx restart

or

sudo service nginx reload

From the comments:

Also comment

;listen = /var/run/php5-fpm.sock

and add

listen = 9000

How to make VS Code to treat other file extensions as certain language?

The easiest way I've found for a global association is simply to ctrl+k m (or ctrl+shift+p and type "change language mode") with a file of the type you're associating open.

In the first selections will be "Configure File Association for 'x' " (whatever file type - see image attached) Selecting this makes the filetype association permanent

This may have changed (probably did) since the original question and accepted answer (and I don't know when it changed) but it's so much easier than the manual editing steps in the accepted and some of the other answers, and totaly avoids having to muss with IDs that may not be obvious.

How to iterate over the files of a certain directory, in Java?

Here is an example that lists all the files on my desktop. you should change the path variable to your path.

Instead of printing the file's name with System.out.println, you should place your own code to operate on the file.

    File path = new File("c:/documents and settings/Zachary/desktop");

    File [] files = path.listFiles();
    for (int i = 0; i < files.length; i++){

How to stop/kill a query in postgresql?

What I did is first check what are the running processes by

SELECT * FROM pg_stat_activity WHERE state = 'active';

Find the process you want to kill, then type:

SELECT pg_cancel_backend(<pid of the process>)

This basically "starts" a request to terminate gracefully, which may be satisfied after some time, though the query comes back immediately.

If the process cannot be killed, try:

SELECT pg_terminate_backend(<pid of the process>)

JavaScript closures vs. anonymous functions

I would like to share my example and an explanation about closures. I made a python example, and two figures to demonstrate stack states.

def maker(a, b, n):
    margin_top = 2
    padding = 4
    def message(msg):
        print('\n’ * margin_top, a * n,
            ' ‘ * padding, msg, ' ‘ * padding, b * n)
    return message

f = maker('*', '#', 5)
g = maker('?', '?’, 3)
…
f('hello')
g(‘good bye!')

The output of this code would be as follows:

*****      hello      #####

???      good bye!    ???

Here are two figures to show stacks and the closure attached to the function object.

when the function is returned from maker

when the function is called later

When the function is called through a parameter or a nonlocal variable, the code needs local variable bindings such as margin_top, padding as well as a, b, n. In order to ensure the function code to work, the stack frame of the maker function which was gone away long ago should be accessible, which is backed up in the closure we can find along with the function message object.

PDO Prepared Inserts multiple rows in single query

Two possible approaches:

$stmt = $pdo->prepare('INSERT INTO foo VALUES(:v1_1, :v1_2, :v1_3),
    (:v2_1, :v2_2, :v2_3),
    (:v2_1, :v2_2, :v2_3)');
$stmt->bindValue(':v1_1', $data[0][0]);
$stmt->bindValue(':v1_2', $data[0][1]);
$stmt->bindValue(':v1_3', $data[0][2]);
// etc...
$stmt->execute();

Or:

$stmt = $pdo->prepare('INSERT INTO foo VALUES(:a, :b, :c)');
foreach($data as $item)
{
    $stmt->bindValue(':a', $item[0]);
    $stmt->bindValue(':b', $item[1]);
    $stmt->bindValue(':c', $item[2]);
    $stmt->execute();
}

If the data for all the rows are in a single array, I would use the second solution.

How to copy Docker images from one host to another without using a repository

Transferring a Docker image via SSH, bzipping the content on the fly:

docker save <image> | bzip2 | \

It's also a good idea to put pv in the middle of the pipe to see how the transfer is going:

docker save <image> | bzip2 | pv | \
     ssh user@host 'bunzip2 | docker load'

(More info about pv: home page, man page).

Break when a value changes using the Visual Studio debugger

You can also choose to break explicitly in code:

// Assuming C#
if (condition)
{
    System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break();
}

From MSDN:

Debugger.Break: If no debugger is attached, users are asked if they want to attach a debugger. If yes, the debugger is started. If a debugger is attached, the debugger is signaled with a user breakpoint event, and the debugger suspends execution of the process just as if a debugger breakpoint had been hit.

This is only a fallback, though. Setting a conditional breakpoint in Visual Studio, as described in other comments, is a better choice.

jQuery select box validation

simplify the whole thing a bit, fix some issues with commas which will blow up some browsers:

  $(document).ready(function () {
       $("#register").validate({
           debug: true,
           rules: {
               year: {
                   required: function () {
                       return ($("#year option:selected").val() == "0");
                   }
               }
           },
           messages: {
               year: "Year Required"
           }
       });
   });

Jumping to an assumption, should your select not have this attribute validate="required:true"?

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: Yes) after password reset LINUX

You may need to clear the plugin column for your root account. On my fresh install, all of the root user accounts had unix_socket set in the plugin column. This was causing the root sql account to be locked only to the root unix account, since only system root could login via socket.

If you update user set plugin='' where User='root';flush privileges;, you should now be able to login to the root account from any localhost unix account (with a password).

See this AskUbuntu question and answer for more details.

Using Python, find anagrams for a list of words

This works fine:

def find_ana(l):
    a=[]
    for i in range(len(l)):
        for j in range(len(l)):
            if (l[i]!=l[j]) and (sorted(l[i])==sorted(l[j])):
                a.append(l[i])
                a.append(l[j])

    return list(set(a))

setting y-axis limit in matplotlib

To add to @Hima's answer, if you want to modify a current x or y limit you could use the following.

import numpy as np # you probably alredy do this so no extra overhead
fig, axes = plt.subplot()
axes.plot(data[:,0], data[:,1])
xlim = axes.get_xlim()
# example of how to zoomout by a factor of 0.1
factor = 0.1
new_xlim = (xlim[0] + xlim[1])/2 + np.array((-0.5, 0.5)) * (xlim[1] - xlim[0]) * (1 + factor)
axes.set_xlim(new_xlim)

I find this particularly useful when I want to zoom out or zoom in just a little from the default plot settings.

How do I setup a SSL certificate for an express.js server?

See the Express docs as well as the Node docs for https.createServer (which is what express recommends to use):

var privateKey = fs.readFileSync( 'privatekey.pem' );
var certificate = fs.readFileSync( 'certificate.pem' );

https.createServer({
    key: privateKey,
    cert: certificate
}, app).listen(port);

How do I automatically resize an image for a mobile site?

For me, it worked best to add this in image css: max-width:100%; and NOT specify image width and height in html parameters. This adjusted the width to fit in device screen while adjusting height automatically. Otherwise height might be distorted.

DataGridView - how to set column width?

I know this is an old question but no one ever answered the first part, to set width in percent. That can easily be done with FillWeight (MSDN). In case anyone else searching comes across this answer.

You can set DataGridAutoSizeColumnMode to Fill in the designer. By default that gives each column FillWeight of 100. Then in code behind, on FormLoad event or after binding data to grid, you can simply:

gridName.Columns[0].FillWeight = 200;
gridName.Columns[1].FillWeight = 50;

And so on, for whatever proportional weight you want. If you want to do every single column with numbers that add up to 100, for a literal percent width, you can do that too.

It gives a nice full DataGrid where the headers use the whole space, even if the user resizes the window. Looks good on widescreen, 4:3, whatever.

What does it mean by select 1 from table?

The reason is another one, at least for MySQL. This is from the MySQL manual

InnoDB computes index cardinality values for a table the first time that table is accessed after startup, instead of storing such values in the table. This step can take significant time on systems that partition the data into many tables. Since this overhead only applies to the initial table open operation, to “warm up” a table for later use, access it immediately after startup by issuing a statement such as SELECT 1 FROM tbl_name LIMIT 1

Multiple conditions in ngClass - Angular 4

I had this similar issue. I wanted to set a class after looking at multiple expressions. ngClass can evaluate a method inside the component code and tell you what to do.

So inside an *ngFor:

<div [ngClass]="{'shrink': shouldShrink(a.category1, a.category2), 'showAll': section == 'allwork' }">{{a.listing}}</div>

And inside the component:

section = 'allwork';

shouldShrink(cat1, cat2) {
    return this.section === cat1 || this.section === cat2 ? false : true;
}

Here I need to calculate if i should shrink a div based on if a 2 different categories have matched what the selected category is. And it works. So from there you can computer a true/false for the [ngClass] based on what your method returns given the inputs.

How do you display JavaScript datetime in 12 hour AM/PM format?

Or just simply do the following code:

    <script>
        time = function() {
            var today = new Date();
            var h = today.getHours();
            var m = today.getMinutes();
            var s = today.getSeconds();
            m = checkTime(m);
            s = checkTime(s);
            document.getElementById('txt_clock').innerHTML = h + ":" + m + ":" + s;
            var t = setTimeout(function(){time()}, 0);
        }

        time2 = function() {
            var today = new Date();
            var h = today.getHours();
            var m = today.getMinutes();
            var s = today.getSeconds();
            m = checkTime(m);
            s = checkTime(s);
            if (h>12) {
                document.getElementById('txt_clock_stan').innerHTML = h-12 + ":" + m + ":" + s;
            }
            var t = setTimeout(function(){time2()}, 0);
        }

        time3 = function() {
            var today = new Date();
            var h = today.getHours();
            var m = today.getMinutes();
            var s = today.getSeconds();
            if (h>12) {
                document.getElementById('hour_line').style.width = h-12 + 'em';
            }
            document.getElementById('minute_line').style.width = m + 'em';
            document.getElementById('second_line').style.width = s + 'em';
            var t = setTimeout(function(){time3()}, 0);
        }

        checkTime = function(i) {
            if (i<10) {i = "0" + i};  // add zero in front of numbers < 10

Why I've got no crontab entry on OS X when using vim?

Other option is not to use crontab -e at all. Instead I used:

(crontab -l && echo "1 1  * * *  /path/to/my/script.sh") | crontab -

Notice that whatever you print before | crontab - will replace the entire crontab file, so use crontab -l && echo "<your new schedule>" to get the previous content and the new schedule.

Android Imagebutton change Image OnClick

Is there a way to add a gif to a Markdown file?

If you can provide your image in SVG format and if it is an icon and not a photo so it can be animated with SMIL animations, then it would be definitely the superior alternative to gif images (or even other formats).

SVG images, like other image files, could be used with either standard markup or HTML <img> element:

![image description](the_path_to/image.svg)
<img src="the_path_to/image.svg" width="128"/>

Java compile error: "reached end of file while parsing }"

Yes. You were missing a '{' under the public class line. And then one at the end of your code to close it.

How to delete row in gridview using rowdeleting event?

Try This Make sure You mention Datakeyname which is nothing but the column name (id) in your designer file

//your aspx code

<asp:GridView ID="dgUsers" runat="server" AutoGenerateSelectButton="True" OnDataBound="dgUsers_DataBound" OnRowDataBound="dgUsers_RowDataBound" OnSelectedIndexChanged="dgUsers_SelectedIndexChanged" AutoGenerateDeleteButton="True" OnRowDeleting="dgUsers_RowDeleting" DataKeyNames="id" OnRowCommand="dgUsers_RowCommand"></asp:GridView>

//Your aspx.cs Code

protected void dgUsers_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e)
        {

            int id = Convert.ToInt32(dgUsers.DataKeys[e.RowIndex].Value);
            string query = "delete from users where id= '" + id + "'";
            //your remaining delete code
        }

How to print full stack trace in exception?

1. Create Method: If you pass your exception to the following function, it will give you all methods and details which are reasons of the exception.

public string GetAllFootprints(Exception x)
{
        var st = new StackTrace(x, true);
        var frames = st.GetFrames();
        var traceString = new StringBuilder();

        foreach (var frame in frames)
        {
            if (frame.GetFileLineNumber() < 1)
                continue;

            traceString.Append("File: " + frame.GetFileName());
            traceString.Append(", Method:" + frame.GetMethod().Name);
            traceString.Append(", LineNumber: " + frame.GetFileLineNumber());
            traceString.Append("  -->  ");
        }

        return traceString.ToString();
}

2. Call Method: You can call the method like this.

try
{
    // code part which you want to catch exception on it
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
    Debug.Writeline(GetAllFootprints(ex));
}

3. Get the Result:

File: c:\MyProject\Program.cs, Method:MyFunction, LineNumber: 29  -->
File: c:\MyProject\Program.cs, Method:Main, LineNumber: 16  -->

Get the latest record from mongodb collection

This will give you one last document for a collection

db.collectionName.findOne({}, {sort:{$natural:-1}})

$natural:-1 means order opposite of the one that records are inserted in.

Edit: For all the downvoters, above is a Mongoose syntax, mongo CLI syntax is: db.collectionName.find({}).sort({$natural:-1}).limit(1)

Comparing two columns, and returning a specific adjacent cell in Excel

I would advise you to swap B and C columns for the reason that I will explain. Then in D2 type: =VLOOKUP(A2, B2:C4, 2, FALSE)

Finally, copy the formula for the remaining cells.

Explanation: VLOOKUP will first find the value of A2 in the range B2 to C4 (second argument). NOTE: VLOOKUP always searches the first column in this range. This is the reason why you have to swap the two columns before doing anything.

Once the exact match is found, it will return the value in the adjacent cell (third argument).

This means that, if you put 1 as the third argument, the function will return the value in the first column of the range (which will be the same value you were looking for). If you put 2, it will return the value from the second column in the range (the value in the adjacent cell-RIGHT SIDE of the found value).

FALSE indicates that you are finding the exact match. If you put TRUE, you will be searching for the approximate match.

linux shell script: split string, put them in an array then loop through them

You can probably skip the step of explicitly creating an array...

One trick that I like to use is to set the inter-field separator (IFS) to the delimiter character. This is especially handy for iterating through the space or return delimited results from the stdout of any of a number of unix commands.

Below is an example using semicolons (as you had mentioned in your question):

export IFS=";"
sentence="one;two;three"
for word in $sentence; do
  echo "$word"
done

Note: in regular Bourne-shell scripting setting and exporting the IFS would occur on two separate lines (IFS='x'; export IFS;).

A CORS POST request works from plain JavaScript, but why not with jQuery?

Another possibility is that setting dataType: json causes JQuery to send the Content-Type: application/json header. This is considered a non-standard header by CORS, and requires a CORS preflight request. So a few things to try:

1) Try configuring your server to send the proper preflight responses. This will be in the form of additional headers like Access-Control-Allow-Methods and Access-Control-Allow-Headers.

2) Drop the dataType: json setting. JQuery should request Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded by default, but just to be sure, you can replace dataType: json with contentType: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'

How do I get the height of a div's full content with jQuery?

If you can possibly help it, DO NOT USE .scrollHeight.

.scrollHeight does not yield the same kind of results in different browsers in certain circumstances (most prominently while scrolling).

For example:

<div id='outer' style='width:100px; height:350px; overflow-y:hidden;'>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
<div style='width:100px; height:150px;'></div>
</div>

If you do

console.log($('#outer').scrollHeight);

you'll get 900px in Chrome, FireFox and Opera. That's great.

But, if you attach a wheelevent / wheel event to #outer, when you scroll it, Chrome will give you a constant value of 900px (correct) but FireFox and Opera will change their values as you scroll down (incorrect).

A very simple way to do this is like so (a bit of a cheat, really). (This example works while dynamically adding content to #outer as well):

$('#outer').css("height", "auto");
var outerContentsHeight = $('#outer').height();
$('#outer').css("height", "350px");

console.log(outerContentsHeight); //Should get 900px in these 3 browsers

The reason I pick these three browsers is because all three can disagree on the value of .scrollHeight in certain circumstances. I ran into this issue making my own scrollpanes. Hope this helps someone.

How open PowerShell as administrator from the run window

Yes, it is possible to run PowerShell through the run window. However, it would be burdensome and you will need to enter in the password for computer. This is similar to how you will need to set up when you run cmd:

runas /user:(ComputerName)\(local admin) powershell.exe

So a basic example would be:

runas /user:MyLaptop\[email protected]  powershell.exe

You can find more information on this subject in Runas.

However, you could also do one more thing :

  • 1: `Windows+R`
  • 2: type: `powershell`
  • 3: type: `Start-Process powershell -verb runAs`

then your system will execute the elevated powershell.

jQuery to loop through elements with the same class

You can do this concisely using .filter. The following example will hide all .testimonial divs containing the word "something":

$(".testimonial").filter(function() {
    return $(this).text().toLowerCase().indexOf("something") !== -1;
}).hide();

Javascript wait() function

Javascript isn't threaded, so a "wait" would freeze the entire page (and probably cause the browser to stop running the script entirely).

To specifically address your problem, you should remove the brackets after donothing in your setTimeout call, and make waitsecs a number not a string:

console.log('before');
setTimeout(donothing,500); // run donothing after 0.5 seconds
console.log('after');

But that won't stop execution; "after" will be logged before your function runs.

To wait properly, you can use anonymous functions:

console.log('before');
setTimeout(function(){
    console.log('after');
},500);

All your variables will still be there in the "after" section. You shouldn't chain these - if you find yourself needing to, you need to look at how you're structuring the program. Also you may want to use setInterval / clearInterval if it needs to loop.

How to submit a form on enter when the textarea has focus?

You can't do this without JavaScript. Stackoverflow is using the jQuery JavaScript library which attachs functions to HTML elements on page load.

Here's how you could do it with vanilla JavaScript:

<textarea onkeydown="if (event.keyCode == 13) { this.form.submit(); return false; }"></textarea>

Keycode 13 is the enter key.

Here's how you could do it with jQuery like as Stackoverflow does:

<textarea class="commentarea"></textarea>

with

$(document).ready(function() {

Calling one method from another within same class in Python

To accessing member functions or variables from one scope to another scope (In your case one method to another method we need to refer method or variable with class object. and you can do it by referring with self keyword which refer as class object.

class YourClass():

    def your_function(self, *args):

        self.callable_function(param) # if you need to pass any parameter

    def callable_function(self, *params):
        print('Your param:', param)

How to Change Margin of TextView

Your layout in xml probably already has a layout_margin(Left|Right|etc) attribute in it, which means you need to access the object generated by that xml and modify it.

I found this solution to be very simple:

ViewGroup.MarginLayoutParams mlp = (ViewGroup.MarginLayoutParams) mTextView
        .getLayoutParams();

mlp.setMargins(adjustmentPxs, 0, 0, 0);

break;

Get the LayoutParams instance of your textview, downcast it to MarginLayoutParams, and use the setMargins method to set the margins.

Why plt.imshow() doesn't display the image?

The solution was as simple as adding plt.show() at the end of the code snippet:

import numpy as np
np.random.seed(123)
from keras.models import Sequential
from keras.layers import Dense, Dropout, Activation, Flatten
from keras.layers import Convolution2D, MaxPooling2D
from keras.utils import np_utils
from keras.datasets import mnist
(X_train,y_train),(X_test,y_test) = mnist.load_data()
print X_train.shape
from matplotlib import pyplot as plt
plt.imshow(X_train[0])
plt.show()

What is an application binary interface (ABI)?

I was also trying to understand ABI and JesperE’s answer was very helpful.

From a very simple perspective, we may try to understand ABI by considering binary compatibility.

KDE wiki defines a library as binary compatible “if a program linked dynamically to a former version of the library continues running with newer versions of the library without the need to recompile.” For more on dynamic linking, refer Static linking vs dynamic linking

Now, let’s try to look at just the most basic aspects needed for a library to be binary compatibility (assuming there are no source code changes to the library):

  1. Same/backward compatible instruction set architecture (processor instructions, register file structure, stack organization, memory access types, along with sizes, layout, and alignment of basic data types the processor can directly access)
  2. Same calling conventions
  3. Same name mangling convention (this might be needed if say a Fortran program needs to call some C++ library function).

Sure, there are many other details but this is mostly what the ABI also covers.

More specifically to answer your question, from the above, we can deduce:

ABI functionality: binary compatibility

existing entities: existing program/libraries/OS

consumer: libraries, OS

Hope this helps!

How do I dynamically set the selected option of a drop-down list using jQuery, JavaScript and HTML?

Here is another way you can change the selected option of a <select> element in javascript. You can use

document.getElementById('salesperson').selectedIndex=1;

Setting it to 1 will make the second element of the dropdown selected. The select element index start from 0.

Here is a sample code. Check if you can use this type of approach:

<html>
<head>
<script language="javascript">

function changeSelected() {
document.getElementById('salesperson').selectedIndex=1;

}

</script>
</head>
<body>
<form name="f1">

<select id="salesperson" >
   <option value"">james</option>
   <option value"">john</option>
</select>
<input type="button" value="Change Selected" onClick="changeSelected();">

</form>
</body>
</html>

Center icon in a div - horizontally and vertically

Horizontal centering is as easy as:

text-align: center

Vertical centering when the container is a known height:

height: 100px;
line-height: 100px;
vertical-align: middle

Vertical centering when the container isn't a known height AND you can set the image in the background:

background: url(someimage) no-repeat center center;

How to program a fractal?

People above are using finding midpoints for sierpinski and Koch, I'd much more recommend copying shapes, scaling them, and then translating them to achieve the "fractal" effect. Pseudo-code in Java for sierpinski would look something like this:

public ShapeObject transform(ShapeObject originalCurve)
    {
        Make a copy of the original curve
        Scale x and y to half of the original
        make a copy of the copied shape, and translate it to the right so it touches the first copied shape
        make a third shape that is a copy of the first copy, and translate it halfway between the first and second shape,and translate it up
        Group the 3 new shapes into one
        return the new shape
    }

Get Android Device Name

Try it. You can get Device Name through Bluetooth.

Hope it will help you

public String getPhoneName() {
        BluetoothAdapter myDevice = BluetoothAdapter.getDefaultAdapter();

how to convert object into string in php

There is an object serialization module, with the serialize function you can serialize any object.

Saving ssh key fails

I struggled with the same problem for a while just now (using Mac). Here is what I did and it finally worked:
(1) Confirm the .ssh directory exists:

#show all files including hidden
ls -a

(2) Accept all default values by just pressing enter at the prompt

Enter file in which to save the key (/Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa):
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
Enter same passphrase again:

You should get a message :

Your identification has been saved in /Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.
The key fingerprint is:
BZA156:HVhsjsdhfdkjfdfhdX+BundfOytLezXvbx831/s [email protected]
The key's randomart image is:XXXXX

PS If you are configuring git for rails, do the following (source):

git config --global color.ui true
git config --global user.name "yourusername"
git config --global user.email "[email protected]"
ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "[email protected]"

(then accept all defaults by pressing enter)

How to get ELMAH to work with ASP.NET MVC [HandleError] attribute?

For me it was very important to get email logging working. After some time I discover that this need only 2 lines of code more in Atif example.

public class HandleErrorWithElmahAttribute : HandleErrorAttribute
{
    static ElmahMVCMailModule error_mail_log = new ElmahMVCMailModule();

    public override void OnException(ExceptionContext context)
    {
        error_mail_log.Init(HttpContext.Current.ApplicationInstance);
        [...]
    }
    [...]
}

I hope this will help someone :)

Excel: Search for a list of strings within a particular string using array formulas?

  1. Arange your word list with delimiter which never occures in the words, f.e. |
  2. swap arguments in find call - we want search if cell value is matching one of the words in pattern string {=FIND("cell I want to search","list of words I want to search for")}
  3. if the patterns are similar, there is a risk of getting more results than wanted, we restrict just correct results via adding &"|" to the cell value tested (works well with array formulas) cell G3 could contain: {=SUM(FIND($A$1:$A$100&"|";A3))} this ensures spreadsheet will compare strings like "cellvlaue|" againts "pattern1|", "pattern2|" etc. which sorts out conflicts like pattern1="newly added", pattern2="added" (sum of all cells matching "added" would be too high, including the target values for cells matching "newly added", which would be a logical error)

how to Call super constructor in Lombok

Lombok does not support that also indicated by making any @Value annotated class final (as you know by using @NonFinal).

The only workaround I found is to declare all members final yourself and use the @Data annotation instead. Those subclasses need to be annotated by @EqualsAndHashCode and need an explicit all args constructor as Lombok doesn't know how to create one using the all args one of the super class:

@Data
public class A {
    private final int x;
    private final int y;
}

@Data
@EqualsAndHashCode(callSuper = true)
public class B extends A {
    private final int z;

    public B(int x, int y, int z) {
        super(x, y);
        this.z = z;
    }
}

Especially the constructors of the subclasses make the solution a little untidy for superclasses with many members, sorry.

Convert unsigned int to signed int C

To understand why, you need to know that the CPU represents signed numbers using the two's complement (maybe not all, but many).

    byte n = 1; //0000 0001 =  1
    n = ~n + 1; //1111 1110 + 0000 0001 = 1111 1111 = -1

And also, that the type int and unsigned int can be of different sized depending on your CPU. When doing specific stuff like this:

   #include <stdint.h>
   int8_t ibyte;
   uint8_t ubyte;
   int16_t iword;
   //......

Get content of a cell given the row and column numbers

It took me a while, but here's how I made it dynamic. It doesn't depend on a sorted table.

First I started with a column of state names (Column A) and a column of aircraft in each state (Column B). (Row 1 is a header row).

Finding the cell that contains the number of aircraft was:

=MATCH(MAX($B$2:$B$54),$B$2:$B$54,0)+MIN(ROW($B$2:$B$54))-1

I put that into a cell and then gave that cell a name, "StateRow" Then using the tips from above, I wound up with this:

=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(StateRow,1))

This returns the name of the state from the dynamic value in row "StateRow", column 1

Now, as the values in the count column change over time as more data is entered, I always know which state has the most aircraft.

How to search multiple columns in MySQL?

If your table is MyISAM:

SELECT  *
FROM    pages
WHERE MATCH(title, content) AGAINST ('keyword' IN BOOLEAN MODE)

This will be much faster if you create a FULLTEXT index on your columns:

CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX fx_pages_title_content ON pages (title, content)

, but will work even without the index.

Getting list of lists into pandas DataFrame

With approach explained by EdChum above, the values in the list are shown as rows. To show the values of lists as columns in DataFrame instead, simply use transpose() as following:

table = [[1 , 2], [3, 4]]
df = pd.DataFrame(table)
df = df.transpose()
df.columns = ['Heading1', 'Heading2']

The output then is:

      Heading1  Heading2
0         1        3
1         2        4

How to add a class with React.js?

Since you already have <Tags> component calling a function on its parent, you do not need additional state: simply pass the filter to the <Tags> component as a prop, and use this in rendering your buttons. Like so:

Change your render function inside your <Tags> component to:

render: function() {
  return <div className = "tags">
    <button className = {this._checkActiveBtn('')} onClick = {this.setFilter.bind(this, '')}>All</button>
    <button className = {this._checkActiveBtn('male')} onClick = {this.setFilter.bind(this, 'male')}>male</button>
    <button className = {this._checkActiveBtn('female')} onClick = {this.setFilter.bind(this, 'female')}>female</button>
    <button className = {this._checkActiveBtn('blonde')} onClick = {this.setFilter.bind(this, 'blonde')}>blonde</button>
  </div>
},

And add a function inside <Tags>:

_checkActiveBtn: function(filterName) {
  return (filterName == this.props.activeFilter) ? "btn active" : "btn";
}

And inside your <List> component, pass the filter state to the <tags> component as a prop:

return <div>
  <h2>Kids Finder</h2>
  <Tags filter = {this.state.filter} onChangeFilter = {this.changeFilter} />
  {list}
</div>

Then it should work as intended. Codepen here (hope the link works)

How to use HttpWebRequest (.NET) asynchronously?

Use HttpWebRequest.BeginGetResponse()

HttpWebRequest webRequest;

void StartWebRequest()
{
    webRequest.BeginGetResponse(new AsyncCallback(FinishWebRequest), null);
}

void FinishWebRequest(IAsyncResult result)
{
    webRequest.EndGetResponse(result);
}

The callback function is called when the asynchronous operation is complete. You need to at least call EndGetResponse() from this function.

The default for KeyValuePair

From your original code it looks like what you want is to check if the list was empty:

var getResult= keyValueList.SingleOrDefault();
if (keyValueList.Count == 0)
{
   /* default */
}
else
{
}

What does "select 1 from" do?

The statement SELECT 1 FROM SomeTable just returns a column containing the value 1 for each row in your table. If you add another column in, e.g. SELECT 1, cust_name FROM SomeTable then it makes it a little clearer:

            cust_name
----------- ---------------
1           Village Toys
1           Kids Place
1           Fun4All
1           Fun4All
1           The Toy Store

SQLite with encryption/password protection

Well, SEE is expensive. However SQLite has interface built-in for encryption (Pager). This means, that on top of existing code one can easily develop some encryption mechanism, does not have to be AES. Anything really. Please see my post here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/49161716/9418360

You need to define SQLITE_HAS_CODEC=1 to enable Pager encryption. Sample code below (original SQLite source):

#ifdef SQLITE_HAS_CODEC
/*
** This function is called by the wal module when writing page content
** into the log file.
**
** This function returns a pointer to a buffer containing the encrypted
** page content. If a malloc fails, this function may return NULL.
*/
SQLITE_PRIVATE void *sqlite3PagerCodec(PgHdr *pPg){
  void *aData = 0;
  CODEC2(pPg->pPager, pPg->pData, pPg->pgno, 6, return 0, aData);
  return aData;
}
#endif

There is a commercial version in C language for SQLite encryption using AES256 - it can also work with PHP, but it needs to be compiled with PHP and SQLite extension. It de/encrypts SQLite database file on the fly, file contents are always encrypted. Very useful.

how to check which version of nltk, scikit learn installed?

In Windows® systems you can simply try

pip3 list | findstr scikit

scikit-learn                  0.22.1

If you are on Anaconda try

conda list scikit

scikit-learn              0.22.1           py37h6288b17_0

And this can be used to find out the version of any package you have installed. For example

pip3 list | findstr numpy

numpy                         1.17.4
numpydoc                      0.9.2

Or if you want to look for more than one package at a time

pip3 list | findstr "scikit numpy"

numpy                         1.17.4
numpydoc                      0.9.2
scikit-learn                  0.22.1

Note the quote characters are required when searching for more than one word.

Take care.

Arduino IDE can't find ESP8266WiFi.h file

When programming the NODEMCU card with the Arduino IDE, you need to customize it and you must have selected the correct card.

Open Arduino IDE and go to files and click on the preference in the Arduino IDE.

Add the following link to the Additional Manager URLS section: "http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json" and press the OK button.

Then click Tools> Board Manager. Type "ESP8266" in the text box to search and install the ESP8266 software for Arduino IDE.

You will be successful when you try to program again by selecting the NodeMCU card after these operations. I hope I could help.
