Programs & Examples On #Iup

This tag is for questions related to the portable user interface toolkit known as IUP. IUP is a portable toolkit for building graphical user interfaces offering a configuration API in three basic languages: C, Lua and LED. IUP's purpose is to allow a program to be executed in different systems without any modification, therefore it is highly portable.

Python base64 data decode

base64 encode/decode example:

import base64

mystr = 'O João mordeu o cão!'

# Encode
mystr_encoded = base64.b64encode(mystr.encode('utf-8'))
# b'TyBKb8OjbyBtb3JkZXUgbyBjw6NvIQ=='

# Decode
mystr_encoded = base64.b64decode(mystr_encoded).decode('utf-8')
# 'O João mordeu o cão!'

How to generate the JPA entity Metamodel?

For Hibernate as provider which is most common IMHO:

In case of build tools like Gradle, Maven you need to have Hibernate JPA 2 Metamodel Generator jar in the classpath and compiler level>=1.6 that is all you need build the project and metamodel will be generated automatically.

In case of IDE Eclipse 1. goto Project->Properties->Java Compiler->Annotation Processing and enable it. 2. Expand Annotation Processing->Factory Path-> Add External Jar add Hibernate JPA 2 Metamodel Generator jar check the newly added jar and say OK. Clean and Build done!

Link Hibernate JPA 2 Metamodel Generator jar link from maven repo https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.hibernate/hibernate-jpamodelgen

jquery-ui-dialog - How to hook into dialog close event

How do you fade in/out a background color using jquery?

Using jQuery only (no UI library/plugin). Even jQuery can be easily eliminated

//Color row background in HSL space (easier to manipulate fading)
$('tr').eq(1).css('backgroundColor','hsl(0,100%,50%');

var d = 1000;
for(var i=50; i<=100; i=i+0.1){ //i represents the lightness
    d  += 10;
    (function(ii,dd){
        setTimeout(function(){
            $('tr').eq(1).css('backgroundColor','hsl(0,100%,'+ii+'%)');
        }, dd);
    })(i,d);
}

Demo : http://jsfiddle.net/5NB3s/2/

  • SetTimeout increases the lightness from 50% to 100%, essentially making the background white (you can choose any value depending on your color).
  • SetTimeout is wrapped in an anonymous function for it to work properly in a loop ( reason )

How do I rename a column in a database table using SQL?

Specifically for SQL Server, use sp_rename

USE AdventureWorks;
GO
EXEC sp_rename 'Sales.SalesTerritory.TerritoryID', 'TerrID', 'COLUMN';
GO

Remove element by id

Having to go to the parent node first seems a bit odd to me, is there a reason JavaScript works like this?

The function name is removeChild(), and how is it possible to remove the child when there's no parent? :)

On the other hand, you do not always have to call it as you have shown. element.parentNode is only a helper to get the parent node of the given node. If you already know the parent node, you can just use it like this:

Ex:

// Removing a specified element when knowing its parent node
var d = document.getElementById("top");
var d_nested = document.getElementById("nested");
var throwawayNode = d.removeChild(d_nested);

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Node/removeChild

=========================================================

To add something more:

Some answers have pointed out that instead of using parentNode.removeChild(child);, you can use elem.remove();. But as I have noticed, there is a difference between the two functions, and it's not mentioned in those answers.

If you use removeChild(), it will return a reference to the removed node.

var removedChild = element.parentNode.removeChild(element);
console.log(removedChild); //will print the removed child.

But if you use elem.remove();, it won't return you the reference.

var el = document.getElementById('Example');
var removedChild = el.remove(); //undefined

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/ChildNode/remove

This behavior can be observed in Chrome and FF. I believe It's worth noticing :)

Hope my answer adds some value to the question and will be helpful!!

how to convert a string to date in mysql?

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/date-and-time-functions.html
use the above page to refer more Functions in MySQL

SELECT  STR_TO_DATE(StringColumn, '%d-%b-%y')

Numpy: find index of the elements within range

I thought I would add this because the a in the example you gave is sorted:

import numpy as np
a = [1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 14, 15, 56]
start = np.searchsorted(a, 6, 'left')
end = np.searchsorted(a, 10, 'right')
rng = np.arange(start, end)
rng
# array([3, 4, 5])

Check if a row exists using old mysql_* API

This ought to do the trick: just limit the result to 1 row; if a row comes back the $lectureName is Assigned, otherwise it's Available.

function checkLectureStatus($lectureName)
{
    $con = connectvar();
    mysql_select_db("mydatabase", $con);
    $result = mysql_query(
        "SELECT * FROM preditors_assigned WHERE lecture_name='$lectureName' LIMIT 1");

    if(mysql_fetch_array($result) !== false)
        return 'Assigned';
    return 'Available';
}

How to loop through all elements of a form jQuery

I have found this simple jquery snippet, to be handy for choosing just the type of selectors I want to work with:

Setup a Git server with msysgit on Windows

With regards to the reference to the Tim Davis page - Setting up a Msysgit Server with copSSH on Windows - I used this to get a Git server running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

Below is a postmortem/update of what I learned in addition to his instructions.

Like Tim Davis said, this was an arduous and frustrating process, at least for me - I'm not too good with integration of this sort, but I learned alot in the process. I hope my pain benefits someone else in the future, because this was an arduous process.

  1. There is a step to copy all the Git executables into your CopSsh bin directory. Instead of copying files and figuring out which files are needed, add the git bin path to your git path. I did so by modifying my .bashrc and CopSsh profile.

    Here's what I added to .bashrc (in your CopSsh and Windows home directory):

    gitpath='/cygdrive/c/Program Files (x86)/Git/bin'

    gitcorepath='cygdrive/c/Program Files (x86)/Git/libexec/git-core'

    PATH=${gitpath}:${gitcorepath}:${PATH}

    Here's what I added to the bash profile (in CopSsh etc/profile):

    gitpath='/c/Program Files (x86)/Git/bin'

    gitcorepath='cygdrive/c/Program Files (x86)/Git/libexec/git-core'

    export PATH="/bin:$syspath:$gitpath:$gitcorepath:$winpath"

    There is some duplication here - it works for me, so someone chime in which is the correct place to modify the path.

  2. The newer msysgit versions might not give you the screen to choose the ssh executable where you choose between the Git ssh and PuTTY ssh. You'll have to set GIT_SSH manually if you use PuTTY.

  3. I didn't follow one part of the instructions and that was installing Tortoise - I used the command line instead as that's how I prefer to learn a vcs like I did with rcs and Subversion and found that to work for me. I had problems with the clone command using ssh. Here's how I did it:

    Git clone using ssh - can't find repository

    This is where I banged my head the most.

  4. The CopSsh install directory was /Program Files (x86)/ICW. I got away with this, but if I were doing it again, I'd use a directory name with no spaces.

  5. These other sources helped me figure things out:

    Another way to setup a Git server on Windows:

    http://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/wiki/HOWTO_CentralServerWindowsXP

    The client side of things:

    http://toolmantim.com/thoughts/setting_up_a_new_remote_git_repository

    An explanation of Git as a server (not related to Windows, but a more in depth look than installation steps):

    http://progit.org/book/ch4-0.html

    Plus O'Reilly's Version Control with Git - the Remote Repositories chapter.

In retrospect, if I had known how time consuming this would be, I might have started out with Mercurial as I read the install on Windows is easier, but I'll have an opinion on that after I work with Git awhile and then try Mercurial.

coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer, NoneType found when rendering in django admin

First, check that whatever you are returning via unicode is a String.

If it is not a string you can change it to a string like this (where self.id is an integer)

def __unicode__(self):
    return '%s' % self.id

following which, if it still doesn't work, restart your ./manage.py shell for the changes to take effect and try again. It should work.

java.util.Date format SSSSSS: if not microseconds what are the last 3 digits?

I used yet another trick to format date with 6-digit precision (microseconds):

System.out.println(
    new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.").format(microseconds/1000)
    +String.format("%06d", microseconds%1000000));

This technique can be extended further, to nanoseconds and up.

Changing image size in Markdown

If you are writing MarkDown for PanDoc, you can do this:

![drawing](drawing.jpg){ width=50% }

This adds style="width: 50%;" to the HTML <img> tag, or [width=0.5\textwidth] to \includegraphics in LaTeX.

How to solve time out in phpmyadmin?

I'm using version 4.0.3 of MAMP along with phpmyadmin. The top of /Applications/MAMP/bin/phpMyAdmin/libraries/config.default.php reads:

DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE, EDIT config.inc.php INSTEAD !!!

Changing the following line in /Applications/MAMP/bin/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php and restarting MAMP worked for me.

$cfg['ExecTimeLimit'] = 0;

What is the use of "object sender" and "EventArgs e" parameters?

Those two parameters (or variants of) are sent, by convention, with all events.

  • sender: The object which has raised the event
  • e an instance of EventArgs including, in many cases, an object which inherits from EventArgs. Contains additional information about the event, and sometimes provides ability for code handling the event to alter the event somehow.

In the case of the events you mentioned, neither parameter is particularly useful. The is only ever one page raising the events, and the EventArgs are Empty as there is no further information about the event.

Looking at the 2 parameters separately, here are some examples where they are useful.

sender

Say you have multiple buttons on a form. These buttons could contain a Tag describing what clicking them should do. You could handle all the Click events with the same handler, and depending on the sender do something different

private void HandleButtonClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    Button btn = (Button)sender;
    if(btn.Tag == "Hello")
      MessageBox.Show("Hello")
    else if(btn.Tag == "Goodbye")
       Application.Exit();
    // etc.
}

Disclaimer : That's a contrived example; don't do that!

e

Some events are cancelable. They send CancelEventArgs instead of EventArgs. This object adds a simple boolean property Cancel on the event args. Code handling this event can cancel the event:

private void HandleCancellableEvent(object sender, CancelEventArgs e)
{
    if(/* some condition*/)
    {
       // Cancel this event
       e.Cancel = true;
    }
}

Remove CSS from a Div using JQuery

You could use the removeAttr method, if you want to delete all the inline style you added manually with javascript. It's better to use CSS classes but you never know.

$("#displayPanel div").removeAttr("style")

Difference between web server, web container and application server

Web container also known as a Servlet container is the component of a web server that interacts with Java servlets. A web container is responsible for managing the lifecycle of servlets, mapping a URL to a particular servlet and ensuring that the URL requester has the correct access rights.

Where to find extensions installed folder for Google Chrome on Mac?

They are found on either one of the below locations depending on how chrome was installed

  • When chrome is installed at the user level, it's located at:

How to pass List<String> in post method using Spring MVC?

You can pass input as ["apple","orange"]if you want to leave the method as it is.

It worked for me with a similar method signature.

REST response code for invalid data

400 is the best choice in both cases. If you want to further clarify the error you can either change the Reason Phrase or include a body to explain the error.

412 - Precondition failed is used for conditional requests when using last-modified date and ETags.

403 - Forbidden is used when the server wishes to prevent access to a resource.

The only other choice that is possible is 422 - Unprocessable entity.

How to pass complex object to ASP.NET WebApi GET from jQuery ajax call?

After finding this StackOverflow question/answer

Complex type is getting null in a ApiController parameter

the [FromBody] attribute on the controller method needs to be [FromUri] since a GET does not have a body. After this change the "filter" complex object is passed correctly.

Where is the documentation for the values() method of Enum?

Run this

    for (Method m : sex.class.getDeclaredMethods()) {
        System.out.println(m);
    }

you will see

public static test.Sex test.Sex.valueOf(java.lang.String)
public static test.Sex[] test.Sex.values()

These are all public methods that "sex" class has. They are not in the source code, javac.exe added them

Notes:

  1. never use sex as a class name, it's difficult to read your code, we use Sex in Java

  2. when facing a Java puzzle like this one, I recommend to use a bytecode decompiler tool (I use Andrey Loskutov's bytecode outline Eclispe plugin). This will show all what's inside a class

Setting up enviromental variables in Windows 10 to use java and javac

Just set the path variable to JDK bin in environment variables.

Variable Name : JAVA_HOME
Variable Value : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_31

Variable Name : PATH
Variable Value : %JAVA_HOME%\bin

SQLAlchemy default DateTime

You can also use sqlalchemy builtin function for default DateTime

from sqlalchemy.sql import func

DT = Column(DateTime(timezone=True), default=func.now())

Why does overflow:hidden not work in a <td>?

</table>

displays 123456

How do I select an element in jQuery by using a variable for the ID?

The shortest way would be:

$("#" + row_id)

Limiting the search to the body doesn't have any benefit.

Also, you should consider renaming your ids to something more meaningful (and HTML compliant as per Paolo's answer), especially if you have another set of data that needs to be named as well.

Capturing count from an SQL query

Complementing in C# with SQL:

SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("ConnectionString");
conn.Open();
SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table_name", conn);
Int32 count = Convert.ToInt32(comm.ExecuteScalar());
if (count > 0)
{
    lblCount.Text = Convert.ToString(count.ToString()); //For example a Label
}
else
{
    lblCount.Text = "0";
}
conn.Close(); //Remember close the connection

Basic authentication for REST API using spring restTemplate

There are multiple ways to add the basic HTTP authentication to the RestTemplate.

1. For a single request

try {
    // request url
    String url = "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/posts";

    // create auth credentials
    String authStr = "username:password";
    String base64Creds = Base64.getEncoder().encodeToString(authStr.getBytes());

    // create headers
    HttpHeaders headers = new HttpHeaders();
    headers.add("Authorization", "Basic " + base64Creds);

    // create request
    HttpEntity request = new HttpEntity(headers);

    // make a request
    ResponseEntity<String> response = new RestTemplate().exchange(url, HttpMethod.GET, request, String.class);

    // get JSON response
    String json = response.getBody();

} catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
}

If you are using Spring 5.1 or higher, it is no longer required to manually set the authorization header. Use headers.setBasicAuth() method instead:

// create headers
HttpHeaders headers = new HttpHeaders();
headers.setBasicAuth("username", "password");

2. For a group of requests

@Service
public class RestService {

    private final RestTemplate restTemplate;

    public RestService(RestTemplateBuilder restTemplateBuilder) {
        this.restTemplate = restTemplateBuilder
                .basicAuthentication("username", "password")
                .build();
    }

   // use `restTemplate` instance here
}

3. For each and every request

@Bean
RestOperations restTemplateBuilder(RestTemplateBuilder restTemplateBuilder) {
    return restTemplateBuilder.basicAuthentication("username", "password").build();
}

I hope it helps!

What is a Python egg?

Note: Egg packaging has been superseded by Wheel packaging.

Same concept as a .jar file in Java, it is a .zip file with some metadata files renamed .egg, for distributing code as bundles.

Specifically: The Internal Structure of Python Eggs

A "Python egg" is a logical structure embodying the release of a specific version of a Python project, comprising its code, resources, and metadata. There are multiple formats that can be used to physically encode a Python egg, and others can be developed. However, a key principle of Python eggs is that they should be discoverable and importable. That is, it should be possible for a Python application to easily and efficiently find out what eggs are present on a system, and to ensure that the desired eggs' contents are importable.

The .egg format is well-suited to distribution and the easy uninstallation or upgrades of code, since the project is essentially self-contained within a single directory or file, unmingled with any other projects' code or resources. It also makes it possible to have multiple versions of a project simultaneously installed, such that individual programs can select the versions they wish to use.

Sending HTML Code Through JSON

You can send it as a String, why not. But you are probably missusing JSON here a bit since as far as I understand the point is to send just the data needed and wrap them into HTML on the client.

Get width/height of SVG element

This is the consistent cross-browser way I found:

var heightComponents = ['height', 'paddingTop', 'paddingBottom', 'borderTopWidth', 'borderBottomWidth'],
    widthComponents = ['width', 'paddingLeft', 'paddingRight', 'borderLeftWidth', 'borderRightWidth'];

var svgCalculateSize = function (el) {

    var gCS = window.getComputedStyle(el), // using gCS because IE8- has no support for svg anyway
        bounds = {
            width: 0,
            height: 0
        };

    heightComponents.forEach(function (css) {
        bounds.height += parseFloat(gCS[css]);
    });
    widthComponents.forEach(function (css) {
        bounds.width += parseFloat(gCS[css]);
    });
    return bounds;
};

'foo' was not declared in this scope c++

In C++ you are supposed to declare functions before you can use them. In your code integrate is not declared before the point of the first call to integrate. The same applies to sum. Hence the error. Either reorder your definitions so that function definition precedes the first call to that function, or introduce a [forward] non-defining declaration for each function.

Additionally, defining external non-inline functions in header files in a no-no in C++. Your definitions of SkewNormalEvalutatable::SkewNormalEvalutatable, getSkewNormal, integrate etc. have no business being in header file.

Also SkewNormalEvalutatable e(); declaration in C++ declares a function e, not an object e as you seem to assume. The simple SkewNormalEvalutatable e; will declare an object initialized by default constructor.

Also, you receive the last parameter of integrate (and of sum) by value as an object of Evaluatable type. That means that attempting to pass SkewNormalEvalutatable as last argument of integrate will result in SkewNormalEvalutatable getting sliced to Evaluatable. Polymorphism won't work because of that. If you want polymorphic behavior, you have to receive this parameter by reference or by pointer, but not by value.

Counting how many times a certain char appears in a string before any other char appears

just a simple answer:

        }
        return count;

How to parse a string into a nullable int

I would suggest following extension methods for string parsing into int value with ability to define default value in case parsing is not possible:

            return int.TryParse(value, out var parsedInt) ? parsedInt : defaultIntValue;
        }

public static int? ParseNullableInt(this string value)
        {
            if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(value))
                return null;

            return value.ParseInt();

How to call codeigniter controller function from view

I had this same issue , but after a couple of research I fond it out it's quite simple to do,

Locate this URL in your Codeigniter project: application/helpers/util_helper.php

add this below code

//you can define any kind of function but I have queried database in my case

//check if the function exist
 if (!function_exists('yourfunctionname')) {
    function yourfunctionname($param (if neccesary)) {

        //get the instance
        $ci = & get_instance();

        // write your query with the instance class

        $data =  $ci->db->select('*');
        $data =  $ci->db->from('table');
        $data =  $ci->db->where('something', 'something');

        //you can return anythting

        $data =  $ci->db->get()->num_rows();

        if ($data > 0) {
            return $data;
        }  else {
            return 0;
        }
    }

Clear image on picturebox

As others have said, setting the Image property to null should work.

If it doesn't, it might mean that you used the InitialImage property to display your image. If that's indeed the case, try setting that property to null instead:

pictBox.InitialImage = null;

REST API Login Pattern

TL;DR Login for each request is not a required component to implement API security, authentication is.

It is hard to answer your question about login without talking about security in general. With some authentication schemes, there's no traditional login.

REST does not dictate any security rules, but the most common implementation in practice is OAuth with 3-way authentication (as you've mentioned in your question). There is no log-in per se, at least not with each API request. With 3-way auth, you just use tokens.

  1. User approves API client and grants permission to make requests in the form of a long-lived token
  2. Api client obtains a short-lived token by using the long-lived one.
  3. Api client sends the short-lived token with each request.

This scheme gives the user the option to revoke access at any time. Practially all publicly available RESTful APIs I've seen use OAuth to implement this.

I just don't think you should frame your problem (and question) in terms of login, but rather think about securing the API in general.

For further info on authentication of REST APIs in general, you can look at the following resources:

  1. Copy photo files to: /Users/{USER}/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/{UDID}/data/Media/DCIM/100Apple
  2. Remove (or rename) folder: /Users/{USER}/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/{UDID}/data/Media/photoData
  3. Relaunch Simulator

Note: You need to replace {USER} with your user name and {UDID} with the UDID of the simulator. To find UDID for your simulator, from Terminal, run 'xcrun simctl list'.

What is the error "Every derived table must have its own alias" in MySQL?

Here's a different example that can't be rewritten without aliases ( can't GROUP BY DISTINCT).

Imagine a table called purchases that records purchases made by customers at stores, i.e. it's a many to many table and the software needs to know which customers have made purchases at more than one store:

SELECT DISTINCT customer_id, SUM(1)
  FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT customer_id, store_id FROM purchases)
  GROUP BY customer_id HAVING 1 < SUM(1);

..will break with the error Every derived table must have its own alias. To fix:

SELECT DISTINCT customer_id, SUM(1)
  FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT customer_id, store_id FROM purchases) AS custom
  GROUP BY customer_id HAVING 1 < SUM(1);

( Note the AS custom alias).

Rails and PostgreSQL: Role postgres does not exist

After a bunch of installing and uninstalling of Postgres, here's what now seems to work consistently for me with Os X Mavericks, Rails 4 and Ruby 2.

  1. In the database.yml file, I change the default usernames to my computer's username which for me is just "admin".

  2. In the command line I run rake db:create:all

  3. Then I run rake db:migrate

  4. When I run the rails server and check the local host it says "Welcome aboard".

How to correctly use Html.ActionLink with ASP.NET MVC 4 Areas

Just to add up my bit:
Remember, you're gonna need to have at least 2 areas in your MVC application to get the routeValues: { area="" } working; otherwise the area value will be used as a query-string parameter and you link will look like this: /?area=

If you don't have at least 2 areas, you can fix this behavior by:
1. editing the default route in RouteConfig.cs like this:

routes.MapRoute(
    name: "Default",
    url: "{controller}/{action}/{id}",
    defaults: new { area = "", controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }
);

OR
2. Adding a dummy area to your MVC project.

sql query distinct with Row_Number

How about something like

;WITH DistinctVals AS (
        SELECT  distinct id
        FROM    table
        where   fid = 64
    )
SELECT  id,
        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY id) AS RowNum
FROM    DistinctVals

SQL Fiddle DEMO

You could also try

SELECT distinct id, DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY id) AS RowNum
FROM @mytable
where fid = 64

How do I replace a character in a string in Java?

Reading Data From Database and storing in Array List object

You are reusing the customer reference. Java works by reference for Obejcts. Not for primitives.

What you are doing is adding to the list the same customer and then modifying it. Thus setting the same values for all of objects. That's why you see the last. Because all are the same.

 while (rs.next()) {
        Customer customer = new Customer();
        customer.setId(rs.getInt("id"));

How can I store the result of a system command in a Perl variable?

Using backtick or qx helps, thanks everybody for the answers. However, I found that if you use backtick or qx, the output contains trailing newline and I need to remove that. So I used chomp.

chomp($host = `hostname`);
chomp($domain = `domainname`);
$fqdn = $host.".".$domain;

How to make an unaware datetime timezone aware in python

All of these examples use an external module, but you can achieve the same result using just the datetime module, as also presented in this SO answer:

from datetime import datetime
from datetime import timezone

dt = datetime.now()
dt.replace(tzinfo=timezone.utc)

print(dt.replace(tzinfo=timezone.utc).isoformat())
'2017-01-12T22:11:31+00:00'

Fewer dependencies and no pytz issues.

NOTE: If you wish to use this with python3 and python2, you can use this as well for the timezone import (hardcoded for UTC):

try:
    from datetime import timezone
    utc = timezone.utc
except ImportError:
    #Hi there python2 user
    class UTC(tzinfo):
        def utcoffset(self, dt):
            return timedelta(0)
        def tzname(self, dt):
            return "UTC"
        def dst(self, dt):
            return timedelta(0)
    utc = UTC()

How can I include a YAML file inside another?

With Symfony, its handling of yaml will indirectly allow you to nest yaml files. The trick is to make use of the parameters option. eg:

common.yml

parameters:
    yaml_to_repeat:
        option: "value"
        foo:
            - "bar"
            - "baz"

config.yml

imports:
    - { resource: common.yml }
whatever:
    thing: "%yaml_to_repeat%"
    other_thing: "%yaml_to_repeat%"

The result will be the same as:

whatever:
    thing:
        option: "value"
        foo:
            - "bar"
            - "baz"
    other_thing:
        option: "value"
        foo:
            - "bar"
            - "baz"

How to add screenshot to READMEs in github repository?

To me the best way is -

  1. Create an new issue with that repository on github and then upload the file in gif format.To convert video files into gif format you can use this website http://www.online-convert.com/
  2. Submit the newly created issue.
  3. Copy the address of the uploaded file
  4. Finally in your README file put ![demo](COPIED ADDRESS)

Hope this will help .

Wait 5 seconds before executing next line

You should not just try to pause 5 seconds in javascript. It doesn't work that way. You can schedule a function of code to run 5 seconds from now, but you have to put the code that you want to run later into a function and the rest of your code after that function will continue to run immediately.

For example:

function stateChange(newState) {
    setTimeout(function(){
        if(newState == -1){alert('VIDEO HAS STOPPED');}
    }, 5000);
}

But, if you have code like this:

stateChange(-1);
console.log("Hello");

The console.log() statement will run immediately. It will not wait until after the timeout fires in the stateChange() function. You cannot just pause javascript execution for a predetermined amount of time.

Instead, any code that you want to run delays must be inside the setTimeout() callback function (or called from that function).

If you did try to "pause" by looping, then you'd essentially "hang" the Javascript interpreter for a period of time. Because Javascript runs your code in only a single thread, when you're looping nothing else can run (no other event handlers can get called). So, looping waiting for some variable to change will never work because no other code can run to change that variable.

Show row number in row header of a DataGridView

You can also draw the string dynamically inside the RowPostPaint event:

private void dgGrid_RowPostPaint(object sender, DataGridViewRowPostPaintEventArgs e)
{
    var grid = sender as DataGridView;
    var rowIdx = (e.RowIndex + 1).ToString();

    var centerFormat = new StringFormat()
    {
        // right alignment might actually make more sense for numbers
        Alignment = StringAlignment.Center,
        LineAlignment = StringAlignment.Center
    };

    var headerBounds = new Rectangle(e.RowBounds.Left, e.RowBounds.Top, grid.RowHeadersWidth, e.RowBounds.Height);
    e.Graphics.DrawString(rowIdx, this.Font, SystemBrushes.ControlText, headerBounds, centerFormat);
}

Show diff between commits

Try

git diff k73ud^..dj374

to make sure to include all changes of k73ud in the resulting diff.

git diff compares two endpoints (instead of a commit range). Since the OP want to see the changes introduced by k73ud, he/she needs to difference between the first parent commit of k73ud: k73ud^ (or k73ud^1 or k73ud~).

That way, the diff results will include changes since k73ud parent (meaning including changes from k73ud itself), instead of changes introduced since k73ud (up to dj374).

Also you can try:

git diff oldCommit..newCommit
git diff k73ud..dj374

and (1 space, not more):

git diff oldCommit newCommit
git diff k73ud dj374

And if you need to get only files names (e.g. to copy hotfix them manually):

git diff k73ud dj374 --name-only

And you can get changes applied to another branch:

git diff k73ud dj374 > my.patch
git apply my.patch

Binding value to style

I managed to make it work with alpha28 like this:

import {Component, View} from 'angular2/angular2';

@Component({

@View({
    template: `<style>
    .circle{

        height: 50px;
        border-radius: 25px;
    }
</style>
<div class="circle" [style.background-color]="changeBackground()">
    <content></content>
</div>
`
})
export class Circle {
    color;

    constructor(){
    }

    changeBackground(): string {
        return this.color;
    }
}

and called it like this <circle color='yellow'></circle>

Call int() function on every list element?

If you are intending on passing those integers to a function or method, consider this example:

sum(int(x) for x in numbers)

This construction is intentionally remarkably similar to list comprehensions mentioned by adamk. Without the square brackets, it's called a generator expression, and is a very memory-efficient way of passing a list of arguments to a method. A good discussion is available here: Generator Expressions vs. List Comprehension

How do I turn off Oracle password expiration?

As the other answers state, changing the user's profile (e.g. the 'DEFAULT' profile) appropriately will lead to passwords, that once set, will never expire.

However, as one commenter points out, passwords set under the profile's old values may already be expired, and (if after the profile's specified grace period) the account locked.

The solution for expired passwords with locked accounts (as provided in an answering comment) is to use one version of the ALTER USER command:

ALTER USER xyz_user ACCOUNT UNLOCK;

However the unlock command only works for accounts where the account is actually locked, but not for those accounts that are in the grace period, i.e. where the password is expired but the account is not yet locked. For these accounts the password must be reset with another version of the ALTER USER command:

ALTER USER xyz_user IDENTIFIED BY new_password;

Below is a little SQL*Plus script that a privileged user (e.g. user 'SYS') can use to reset a user's password to the current existing hashed value stored in the database.

EDIT: Older versions of Oracle store the password or password-hash in the pword column, newer versions of Oracle store the password-hash in the spare4 column. Script below changed to collect the pword and spare4 columns, but to use the spare4 column to reset the user's account; modify as needed.

load Js file in HTML

I had the same problem, and found the answer. If you use node.js with express, you need to give it its own function in order for the js file to be reached. For example:

const script = path.join(__dirname, 'script.js');
const server = express().get('/', (req, res) => res.sendFile(script))

MVC4 HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden

Before applying

runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"/>

consider the link below that suggests a less drastic alternative. In the post the author offers the following alteration to the local web.config:

  <system.webServer>
    <modules>
    <remove name="UrlRoutingModule-4.0" />
    <add name="UrlRoutingModule-4.0" type="System.Web.Routing.UrlRoutingModule" preCondition="" />
    </modules>

Fastest way to add an Item to an Array

Not very clean but it works :)

Dim arr As Integer() = {1, 2, 3}
Dim newItem As Integer = 4

arr = arr.Concat({newItem}).ToArray

Replace whole line containing a string using Sed

In my makefile I use this:

@sed -i '/.*Revision:.*/c\'"`svn info -R main.cpp | awk '/^Rev/'`"'' README.md

PS: DO NOT forget that the -i changes actually the text in the file... so if the pattern you defined as "Revision" will change, you will also change the pattern to replace.

Example output:

Abc-Project written by John Doe

Revision: 1190

So if you set the pattern "Revision: 1190" it's obviously not the same as you defined them as "Revision:" only...

Best way to detect Mac OS X or Windows computers with JavaScript or jQuery

Let me know if this works. Way to detect an Apple device (Mac computers, iPhones, etc.) with help from StackOverflow.com:
What is the list of possible values for navigator.platform as of today?

var deviceDetect = navigator.platform;
var appleDevicesArr = ['MacIntel', 'MacPPC', 'Mac68K', 'Macintosh', 'iPhone',
'iPod', 'iPad', 'iPhone Simulator', 'iPod Simulator', 'iPad Simulator', 'Pike
v7.6 release 92', 'Pike v7.8 release 517'];

// If on Apple device
if(appleDevicesArr.includes(deviceDetect)) {
    // Execute code
}
// If NOT on Apple device
else {
    // Execute code
}

Android Debug Bridge (adb) device - no permissions

I have a similar problem:

$ adb devices
List of devices attached
4df15d6e02a55f15    device
????????????    no permissions

Investigation

If I run lsusb, I can see which devices I have connected, and where:

$ lsusb
...
Bus 002 Device 050: ID 04e8:6860 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone ...
Bus 002 Device 049: ID 18d1:4e42 Google Inc.

This is showing my Samsung Galaxy S3 and my Nexus 7 (2012) connected.

Checking the permissions on those:

$ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/002/{049,050}
crw-rw-r--  1 root root    189, 176 Oct 10 10:09 /dev/bus/usb/002/049
crw-rw-r--+ 1 root plugdev 189, 177 Oct 10 10:12 /dev/bus/usb/002/050

Wait. What? Where did that "plugdev" group come from?

$ cd /lib/udev/rules.d/
$ grep -R "6860.*plugdev" .
./40-libgphoto2-2.rules:ATTRS{idVendor}=="0bb4", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6860", \
  ENV{ID_GPHOTO2}="1", ENV{GPHOTO2_DRIVER}="proprietary", \
  ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", MODE="0664", GROUP="plugdev"
./40-libgphoto2-2.rules:ATTRS{idVendor}=="04e8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6860", \
  ENV{ID_GPHOTO2}="1", ENV{GPHOTO2_DRIVER}="proprietary", \
  ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", MODE="0664", GROUP="plugdev"

(I've wrapped those lines)

Note the GROUP="plugdev" lines. Also note that this doesn't work for the other device ID:

$ grep -Ri "4e42.*plugdev" .

(nothing is returned)

Fixing it

OK. So what's the fix?

Add a rule

Create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/99-adb.rules containing the following line:

ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4e42", ENV{ID_GPHOTO2}="1",
  ENV{GPHOTO2_DRIVER}="proprietary", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1",
  MODE="0664", GROUP="plugdev"

This should be a single line, I've wrapped it here for readability

Restart udev

$ sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
$ sudo service udev restart

That's it

Unplug/replug your device.

Try it

$ adb devices
List of devices attached
4df15d6e02a55f15    device
015d2109ce67fa0c    device

How do I install Python packages on Windows?

As I wrote elsewhere

Packaging in Python is dire. The root cause is that the language ships without a package manager.

Fortunately, there is one package manager for Python, called Pip. Pip is inspired by Ruby's Gem, but lacks some features. Ironically, Pip itself is complicated to install. Installation on the popular 64-bit Windows demands building and installing two packages from source. This is a big ask for anyone new to programming.

So the right thing to do is to install pip. However if you can't be bothered, Christoph Gohlke provides binaries for popular Python packages for all Windows platforms http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/

In fact, building some Python packages requires a C compiler (eg. mingw32) and library headers for the dependencies. This can be a nightmare on Windows, so remember the name Christoph Gohlke.

Align text in a table header

Your code works, but it uses deprecated methods to do so. You should use the CSS text-align property to do this rather than the align property. Even so, it must be your browser or something else affecting it. Try this demo in Chrome (I had to disable normalize.css to get it to render).

SQL Stored Procedure set variables using SELECT

One advantage your current approach does have is that it will raise an error if multiple rows are returned by the predicate. To reproduce that you can use.

SELECT @currentTerm = currentterm,
       @termID = termid,
       @endDate = enddate
FROM   table1
WHERE  iscurrent = 1

IF( @@ROWCOUNT <> 1 )
  BEGIN
      RAISERROR ('Unexpected number of matching rows',
                 16,
                 1)

      RETURN
  END

How to write to file in Ruby?

The Ruby File class will give you the ins and outs of ::new and ::open but its parent, the IO class, gets into the depth of #read and #write.

Splitting applicationContext to multiple files

I'm the author of modular-spring-contexts.

This is a small utility library to allow a more modular organization of spring contexts than is achieved by using Composing XML-based configuration metadata. modular-spring-contexts works by defining modules, which are basically stand alone application contexts and allowing modules to import beans from other modules, which are exported ín their originating module.

The key points then are

  • control over dependencies between modules
  • control over which beans are exported and where they are used
  • reduced possibility of naming collisions of beans

A simple example would look like this:

File moduleDefinitions.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:module="http://www.gitlab.com/SpaceTrucker/modular-spring-contexts"

Bootstrap how to get text to vertical align in a div container

HTML:

First, we will need to add a class to your text container so that we can access and style it accordingly.

<div class="col-xs-5 textContainer">
     <h3 class="text-left">Link up with other gamers all over the world who share the same tastes in games.</h3>
</div>

CSS:

Next, we will apply the following styles to align it vertically, according to the size of the image div next to it.

.textContainer {
    height: 345px;
    line-height: 340px;
}

.textContainer h3 {
    vertical-align: middle;
    display: inline-block;
}

All Done! Adjust the line-height and height on the styles above if you believe that it is still slightly out of align.

WORKING EXAMPLE

Remove NA values from a vector

You can call max(vector, na.rm = TRUE). More generally, you can use the na.omit() function.

How to map a composite key with JPA and Hibernate?

Using hbm.xml

    <composite-id>

        <!--<key-many-to-one name="productId" class="databaselayer.users.UserDB" column="user_name"/>-->

        return categories_id;
    }

    public void setCategories_id(int categories_id) {
        this.categories_id = categories_id;
    }

    private PK() { }

    @Override
    public boolean equals(Object o) {
        if ( this == o ) {
            return true;
        }

        if ( o == null || getClass() != o.getClass() ) {
            return false;
        }

        PK pk = (PK) o;
        return Objects.equals(PRODUCT_Product_ID, pk.PRODUCT_Product_ID ) &&
                Objects.equals(categories_id, pk.categories_id );
    }

    @Override
    public int hashCode() {
        return Objects.hash(PRODUCT_Product_ID, categories_id );
    }
}

Entity Class

@Entity(name = "product_category")
@IdClass( PK.class )
public  class ProductCategory implements Serializable {
    @Id
    private int PRODUCT_Product_ID ;

    @Id
    private int categories_id ;

    public ProductCategory(int productId, int categoryId) {
        this.PRODUCT_Product_ID = productId ;
        this.categories_id = categoryId;
    }

    public ProductCategory() { }

    public int getPRODUCT_Product_ID() {
        return PRODUCT_Product_ID;
    }

    public void setPRODUCT_Product_ID(int PRODUCT_Product_ID) {
        this.PRODUCT_Product_ID = PRODUCT_Product_ID;
    }

    public int getCategories_id() {
        return categories_id;
    }

    public void setCategories_id(int categories_id) {
        this.categories_id = categories_id;
    }

    public void setId(PK id) {
        this.PRODUCT_Product_ID = id.getPRODUCT_Product_ID();
        this.categories_id = id.getCategories_id();
    }

    public PK getId() {
        return new PK(
            PRODUCT_Product_ID,
            categories_id
        );
    }

You are probably using an AMD/ATI graphics card. If so go to Catalyst Control Centre and switch Chrome to use only the Intel HD graphics (power saving). It is a problem with Chrome 18 and it is being fixed shortly (as advised by google six hours before this post)

It fixed after switched the graphics card in Catalyst, then restarted the computer.

How to output MySQL query results in CSV format?

If you have PHP set up on the server, you can use mysql2csv to export an (actually valid) CSV file for an abitrary mysql query. See my answer at MySQL - SELECT * INTO OUTFILE LOCAL ? for a little more context/info.

I tried to maintain the option names from mysql so it should be sufficient to provide the --file and --query options:

./mysql2csv --file="/tmp/result.csv" --query='SELECT 1 as foo, 2 as bar;' --user="username" --password="password"

"Install" mysql2csv via

wget https://gist.githubusercontent.com/paslandau/37bf787eab1b84fc7ae679d1823cf401/raw/29a48bb0a43f6750858e1ddec054d3552f3cbc45/mysql2csv -O mysql2csv -q && (sha256sum mysql2csv | cmp <(echo "b109535b29733bd596ecc8608e008732e617e97906f119c66dd7cf6ab2865a65  mysql2csv") || (echo "ERROR comparing hash, Found:" ;sha256sum mysql2csv) ) && chmod +x mysql2csv

(download content of the gist, check checksum and make it executable).

What are all the differences between src and data-src attributes?

If you want the image to load and display a particular image, then use .src to load that image URL.

If you want a piece of meta data (on any tag) that can contain a URL, then use data-src or any data-xxx that you want to select.

MDN documentation on data-xxxx attributes: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/DOM/element.dataset

Example of src on an image tag where the image loads the JPEG for you and displays it:

<img id="myImage" src="http://mydomain.com/foo.jpg">

<script>
    var imageUrl = document.getElementById("myImage").src;
</script>

Example of 'data-src' on a non-image tag where the image is not loaded yet - it's just a piece of meta data on the div tag:

<div id="myDiv" data-src="http://mydomain.com/foo.jpg">

<script>
    // in all browsers
    var imageUrl = document.getElementById("myDiv").getAttribute("data-src");

    // or in modern browsers
    var imageUrl = document.getElementById("myDiv").dataset.src;
</script>

Example of data-src on an image tag used as a place to store the URL of an alternate image:

<img id="myImage" src="http://mydomain.com/foo.jpg" data-src="http://mydomain.com/foo.jpg">

<script>
    var item = document.getElementById("myImage");
    // switch the image to the URL specified in data-src
    item.src = item.dataset.src;
</script>

Constructor overloading in Java - best practice

If you have a very complex class with a lot of options of which only some combinations are valid, consider using a Builder. Works very well both codewise but also logically.

The Builder is a nested class with methods only designed to set fields, and then the ComplexClass constructor only takes such a Builder as an argument.

Edit: The ComplexClass constructor can ensure that the state in the Builder is valid. This is very hard to do if you just use setters on ComplexClass.

PHP mkdir: Permission denied problem

I know that this thread is old, but perhaps this will help someone, one day.

The problem why PHP says "Permission denied" for mkdir() - wrong url path. So, to fix it, all you need it's to obtain correct path. I did it this way:

<?php

$root = $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"];
$dir = $root . '/somefolder/';

if( !file_exists($dir) ) {
    mkdir($dir, 0755, true);
}

?>

Correctly determine if date string is a valid date in that format

Accordling with cl-sah's answer, but this sound better, shorter...

function checkmydate($date) {
  $tempDate = explode('-', $date);
  return checkdate($tempDate[1], $tempDate[2], $tempDate[0]);
}

Test

checkmydate('2015-12-01');//true
checkmydate('2015-14-04');//false

Issue with parsing the content from json file with Jackson & message- JsonMappingException -Cannot deserialize as out of START_ARRAY token

I sorted this problem as verifying the json from JSONLint.com and then, correcting it. And this is code for the same.

String jsonStr = "[{\r\n" + "\"name\":\"New York\",\r\n" + "\"number\": \"732921\",\r\n"+ "\"center\": {\r\n" + "\"latitude\": 38.895111,\r\n"  + " \"longitude\": -77.036667\r\n" + "}\r\n" + "},\r\n" + " {\r\n"+ "\"name\": \"San Francisco\",\r\n" +\"number\":\"298732\",\r\n"+ "\"center\": {\r\n" + "    \"latitude\": 37.783333,\r\n"+ "\"longitude\": -122.416667\r\n" + "}\r\n" + "}\r\n" + "]";

ObjectMapper mapper = new ObjectMapper();
MyPojo[] jsonObj = mapper.readValue(jsonStr, MyPojo[].class);

for (MyPojo itr : jsonObj) {
    System.out.println("Val of name is: " + itr.getName());
    System.out.println("Val of number is: " + itr.getNumber());
    System.out.println("Val of latitude is: " +
        itr.getCenter().getLatitude());
    System.out.println("Val of longitude is: " +
        itr.getCenter().getLongitude() + "\n");
}

Note: MyPojo[].class is the class having getter and setter of json properties.

Result:

Val of name is: New York
Val of number is: 732921
Val of latitude is: 38.895111
Val of longitude is: -77.036667
Val of name is: San Francisco
Val of number is: 298732
Val of latitude is: 37.783333
Val of longitude is: -122.416667

Check if an array is empty or exists

optional chaining

As optional chaining proposal reached stage 4 and is getting wider support, there is a very elegant way to do this

if(image_array?.length){

  // image_array is defined and has at least one element

}

Removing all line breaks and adding them after certain text

You need to that in two steps, at least.

First, click on the ¶ symbol in the toolbar: you can see if you have CRLF line endings or just LF.

Click on the Replace button, and put \r\n or \n, depending on the kind of line ending. In the Search Mode section of the dialog, check Extended radio button (interpret \n and such). Then replace all occurrences with nothing (empty string).

You end with a big line...

Next, in the same Replace dialog, put your delimiter (</Row>) for example and in the Replace With field, put the same with a line ending (</Row>\r\n). Replace All, and you are done.

How do I export (and then import) a Subversion repository?

The tool to do that would be

svnadmin dump

But for this to work, you need filesystem-access to the repository. And once you have that (and provided the repository is in FSFS format), you can just copy the repository to its new location (if it's in BDB format, dump/load is strongly recommended).

If you do not have filesystem access, you would have to ask your repository provider to provide the dump for you (and make them delete their repository - and hope they comply)

Get form data in ReactJS

Also, this can be used too.

      <input type="text" name="email" placeholder="Email" value={this.state.email} onChange={this.handleChange.bind(this, 'email')} />
      <input type="password" name="password" placeholder="Password" value={this.state.password} onChange={this.handleChange.bind(this, 'password')}/>
      <button type="button" onClick={this.handleLogin}>Login</button>
    </form>
  );
},

  console.log("Password: ", this.state.password);

How can I shutdown Spring task executor/scheduler pools before all other beans in the web app are destroyed?

If it is going to be a web based application, you can also use the ServletContextListener interface.

public class SLF4JBridgeListener implements ServletContextListener {

   @Autowired
   ThreadPoolTaskExecutor executor;

   @Autowired
   ThreadPoolTaskScheduler scheduler;

    @Override
    public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) {

    }

    @Override

How can I implement a theme from bootswatch or wrapbootstrap in an MVC 5 project?

This may be a little late; but someone will find it useful.

There's a Nuget Package for integrating AdminLTE - a popular Bootstrap template - to MVC5

Simply run this command in your Visual Studio Package Manager console

Install-Package AdminLteMvc

NB: It may take a while to install because it downloads all necessary files as well as create sample full and partial views (.cshtml files) that can guide you as you develop. A sample layout file _AdminLteLayout.cshtml is also provided.

You'll find the files in ~/Views/Shared/ folder

PHP string "contains"

You can use these string functions,

strstr — Find the first occurrence of a string

stristr — Case-insensitive strstr()

strrchr — Find the last occurrence of a character in a string

strpos — Find the position of the first occurrence of a substring in a string

strpbrk — Search a string for any of a set of characters

If that doesn't help then you should use preg regular expression

preg_match — Perform a regular expression match

Foreach loop, determine which is the last iteration of the loop

You can make an extension method specially dedicated to this:

public static class EnumerableExtensions {
    public static bool IsLast<T>(this List<T> items, T item)
        {
            if (items.Count == 0)
                return false;
            T last = items[items.Count - 1];
            return item.Equals(last);
        }
    }

and you can use it like this:

foreach (Item result in Model.Results)
{
    if(Model.Results.IsLast(result))
    {
        //do something in the code
    }
}

How to execute multiple commands in a single line

Googling gives me this:

Command A & Command B

Execute Command A, then execute Command B (no evaluation of anything)

Command A | Command B

Execute Command A, and redirect all its output into the input of Command B

Command A && Command B

Execute Command A, evaluate the errorlevel after running and if the exit code (errorlevel) is 0, only then execute Command B

Command A || Command B

Execute Command A, evaluate the exit code of this command and if it's anything but 0, only then execute Command B

How do I do a Date comparison in Javascript?

JavaScript's dates can be compared using the same comparison operators the rest of the data types use: >, <, <=, >=, ==, !=, ===, !==.

If you have two dates A and B, then A < B if A is further back into the past than B.

But it sounds like what you're having trouble with is turning a string into a date. You do that by simply passing the string as an argument for a new Date:

var someDate = new Date("12/03/2008");

or, if the string you want is the value of a form field, as it seems it might be:

var someDate = new Date(document.form1.Textbox2.value);

Should that string not be something that JavaScript recognizes as a date, you will still get a Date object, but it will be "invalid". Any comparison with another date will return false. When converted to a string it will become "Invalid Date". Its getTime() function will return NaN, and calling isNaN() on the date itself will return true; that's the easy way to check if a string is a valid date.

Interesting 'takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)' Python error

The call

e.extractAll("th")

for a regular method extractAll() is indeed equivalent to

Extractor.extractAll(e, "th")

These two calls are treated the same in all regards, including the error messages you get.

If you don't need to pass the instance to a method, you can use a staticmethod:

@staticmethod
def extractAll(tag):
    ...

which can be called as e.extractAll("th"). But I wonder why this is a method on a class at all if you don't need to access any instance.

How do I programmatically click on an element in JavaScript?

I used KooiInc's function listed above but I had to use two different input types one 'button' for IE and one 'submit' for FireFox. I am not exactly sure why but it works.

// HTML

<input type="button" id="btnEmailHidden" style="display:none" />
<input type="submit" id="btnEmailHidden2" style="display:none" />

// in JavaScript

var hiddenBtn = document.getElementById("btnEmailHidden");

if (hiddenBtn.fireEvent) {
    hiddenBtn.fireEvent('onclick');
    hiddenBtn[eType]();
}
else {
    // dispatch for firefox + others
    var evObj = document.createEvent('MouseEvent');
    evObj.initEvent(eType, true, true);
    var hiddenBtn2 = document.getElementById("btnEmailHidden2");
    hiddenBtn2.dispatchEvent(evObj);
}

I have search and tried many suggestions but this is what ended up working. If I had some more time I would have liked to investigate why submit works with FF and button with IE but that would be a luxury right now so on to the next problem.

How to specify font attributes for all elements on an html web page?

change directory in batch file using variable

The set statement doesn't treat spaces the way you expect; your variable is really named Pathname[space] and is equal to [space]C:\Program Files.

Remove the spaces from both sides of the = sign, and put the value in double quotes:

set Pathname="C:\Program Files"

Also, if your command prompt is not open to C:\, then using cd alone can't change drives.

Use

cd /d %Pathname%

or

pushd %Pathname%

instead.

How to convert int to Integer

As mentioned, one way is to use

But you should not call the constructor for wrapper classes directly

So, modify the code accordingly:

VirtualBox and vmdk vmx files

VMDK/VMX are VMWare file formats but you can use it with VirtualBox:

  1. Create a new Virtual Machine and when asks for a hard disk choose "Use an existing hard disk"
  2. Click on the "button with folder and green arrow image on the combo box right" which opens Virtual Media Manager, it looks like this (you can open it directly pressing CTRL+D on main window or in File > Virtual Media Manager menu)...
  3. Then you can add the VMDK/VMX hard disk image and setup it for your virtual machine :)

Sorting a set of values

From a comment:

I want to sort each set.

That's easy. For any set s (or anything else iterable), sorted(s) returns a list of the elements of s in sorted order:

>>> s = set(['0.000000000', '0.009518000', '10.277200999', '0.030810999', '0.018384000', '4.918560000'])
>>> sorted(s)
['0.000000000', '0.009518000', '0.018384000', '0.030810999', '10.277200999', '4.918560000']

Note that sorted is giving you a list, not a set. That's because the whole point of a set, both in mathematics and in almost every programming language,* is that it's not ordered: the sets {1, 2} and {2, 1} are the same set.

You probably don't really want to sort those elements as strings, but as numbers (so 4.918560000 will come before 10.277200999 rather than after).

The best solution is most likely to store the numbers as numbers rather than strings in the first place. But if not, you just need to use a key function:

>>> sorted(s, key=float)
['0.000000000', '0.009518000', '0.018384000', '0.030810999', '4.918560000', '10.277200999']

For more information, see the Sorting HOWTO in the official docs.

How to implement a Navbar Dropdown Hover in Bootstrap v4?

Neither of the top solutions worked for me.

This works perfectly, keeps submenus open while browsing, add uses the native Bootstrap javascript.

// Mouse over
$('body').on('mouseover', '.dropdown', function(e) {
    $(this).children('.dropdown-toggle').dropdown('show');
});

// Mouse leave
$('body').on('mouseleave', '.dropdown', function(e) {
    $(this).children('.dropdown-toggle').dropdown('hide');
});

Dynamically add data to a javascript map

Well any Javascript object functions sort-of like a "map"

randomObject['hello'] = 'world';

Typically people build simple objects for the purpose:

var myMap = {};

// ...

myMap[newKey] = newValue;

edit — well the problem with having an explicit "put" function is that you'd then have to go to pains to avoid having the function itself look like part of the map. It's not really a Javascripty thing to do.

13 Feb 2014 — modern JavaScript has facilities for creating object properties that aren't enumerable, and it's pretty easy to do. However, it's still the case that a "put" property, enumerable or not, would claim the property name "put" and make it unavailable. That is, there's still only one namespace per object.

In Python, how do you convert seconds since epoch to a `datetime` object?

Note that datetime.datetime.fromtimestamp(timestamp) and .utcfromtimestamp(timestamp) fail on windows for dates before Jan. 1, 1970 while negative unix timestamps seem to work on unix-based platforms. The docs say this:

"This may raise ValueError, if the timestamp is out of the range of values supported by the platform C gmtime() function. It’s common for this to be restricted to years in 1970 through 2038"

Can you delete multiple branches in one command with Git?

Powershell Solution:

If you're running windows, you can use PowerShell to remove multiple branches at once...

git branch -D ((git branch | Select-String -Pattern '^\s*3\.2\..*') | foreach{$_.ToString().Trim()})
//this will remove all branches starting with 3.2.

git branch -D ((git branch | Select-String -Pattern 'feature-*') | foreach{$_.ToString().Trim()})
// this will delete all branches that contains the word "feature-" as a substring.

You can also fine tune how the pattern matching should work using Powershell's Select-String command. Take a look at powershell docs.

Merge two rows in SQL

There are a few ways depending on some data rules that you have not included, but here is one way using what you gave.

SELECT

    (SELECT Field2 FROM Table2 t2 WHERE t2.FK = t1.FK AND Field1 IS NULL) AS Field2

How many files can I put in a directory?

I'm working on a similar problem right now. We have a hierarchichal directory structure and use image ids as filenames. For example, an image with id=1234567 is placed in

..../45/67/1234567_<...>.jpg

using last 4 digits to determine where the file goes.

With a few thousand images, you could use a one-level hierarchy. Our sysadmin suggested no more than couple of thousand files in any given directory (ext3) for efficiency / backup / whatever other reasons he had in mind.

yii2 redirect in controller action does not work?

Redirects the browser to the specified URL.

This method adds a "Location" header to the current response. Note that it does not send out the header until send() is called. In a controller action you may use this method as follows:

return Yii::$app->getResponse()->redirect($url);

In other places, if you want to send out the "Location" header immediately, you should use the following code:

Yii::$app->getResponse()->redirect($url)->send();
return;

Make Bootstrap 3 Tabs Responsive

Bootstrap tabs are not responsive out of the box. Responsive, IMO, is a style change, changing functions is Adaptive. There are a few plugins to turn the Bootstrap 3 tabs into a Collapse component. The best and most updated one is : https://github.com/flatlogic/bootstrap-tabcollapse.

Bulk Insert to Oracle using .NET

Finding the linked examples somewhat confusing, I worked out some code that demonstrates a working array insert into a test table (jkl_test). Here's the table:

create table jkl_test (id number(9));

Here is .Net code for a simple Console application that connects to Oracle using ODP.Net and inserts an array of 5 integers:

using Oracle.DataAccess.Client;

namespace OracleArrayInsertExample
{
    class Program
    {
        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            // Open a connection using ODP.Net
            var connection = new OracleConnection("Data Source=YourDatabase; Password=YourPassword; User Id=YourUser");
            connection.Open();

            // Create an insert command
            var command = connection.CreateCommand();
            command.CommandText = "insert into jkl_test values (:ids)";

            // Set up the parameter and provide values
            var param = new OracleParameter("ids", OracleDbType.Int32);
            param.Value = new int[] { 22, 55, 7, 33, 11 };

            // This is critical to the process; in order for the command to
            // recognize and bind arrays, an array bind count must be specified.
            // Set it to the length of the array.
            command.ArrayBindCount = 5;
            command.Parameters.Add(param);

What is Robocopy's "restartable" option?

Restartable mode (/Z) has to do with a partially-copied file. With this option, should the copy be interrupted while any particular file is partially copied, the next execution of robocopy can pick up where it left off rather than re-copying the entire file.

That option could be useful when copying very large files over a potentially unstable connection.

Backup mode (/B) has to do with how robocopy reads files from the source system. It allows the copying of files on which you might otherwise get an access denied error on either the file itself or while trying to copy the file's attributes/permissions. You do need to be running in an Administrator context or otherwise have backup rights to use this flag.

PATH issue with pytest 'ImportError: No module named YadaYadaYada'

As pointed out by Luiz Lezcano Arialdi, the correct solution is to install your package as an editable package.

Since I am using pipenv, I thought about adding to his answer a step-by-step how to install the current path as an edible with pipenv, allowing to run pytest without the need of any mangling code or loose files.

You will need to have the following minimal folder structure (documentation):

package/
    package/
        __init__.py
        module.py
    tests/
        module_test.py
    setup.py

setup.py most have the following minium code (documentation):

import setuptools

setuptools.setup(name='package', # Change to your package name
                 packages=setuptools.find_packages())

Then you just need to run pipenv install --dev -e . and pipenv will install the current path as an editable package (the --dev flag is optional) (documentation).

Now you shoul be able to run pytest without problems.

Java regex to extract text between tags

To be quite honest, regular expressions are not the best idea for this type of parsing. The regular expression you posted will probably work great for simple cases, but if things get more complex you are going to have huge problems (same reason why you cant reliably parse HTML with regular expressions). I know you probably don't want to hear this, I know I didn't when I asked the same type of questions, but string parsing became WAY more reliable for me after I stopped trying to use regular expressions for everything.

jTopas is an AWESOME tokenizer that makes it quite easy to write parsers by hand (I STRONGLY suggest jtopas over the standard java scanner/etc.. libraries). If you want to see jtopas in action, here are some parsers I wrote using jTopas to parse this type of file

    Node middle = middleElement(head);
    Node nextofMiddle = middle.next;
    middle.next = null;

    Node left = mergeSort(head);
    Node right = mergeSort(nextofMiddle);

    Node sortdList = merge(left, right);

    return sortdList;
}

Node merge(Node left, Node right) {

Is there a way to access an iteration-counter in Java's for-each loop?

I'm afraid this isn't possible with foreach. But I can suggest you a simple old-styled for-loops:

    List<String> l = new ArrayList<String>();

    l.add("a");
    l.add("b");
    l.add("c");
    l.add("d");

    // the array
    String[] array = new String[l.size()];

    for(ListIterator<String> it =l.listIterator(); it.hasNext() ;)
    {
        array[it.nextIndex()] = it.next();
    }

Notice that, the List interface gives you access to it.nextIndex().

(edit)

To your changed example:

    for(ListIterator<String> it =l.listIterator(); it.hasNext() ;)
    {
        int i = it.nextIndex();
        doSomethingWith(it.next(), i);
    }

How to initialize an array in one step using Ruby?

You can do

array = ['1', '2', '3']

As others have noted, you can also initialize an array with %w notation like so:

array = %w(1 2 3)

or

array = %w[1 2 3]

Please note that in both cases each element is a string, rather than an integer. So if you want an array whose elements are integers, you should not wrap each element with apostrophes:

array_of_integers = [1, 2, 3]

Also, you don't need to put comma in between the elements (which is necessary when creating an array without this %w notation). If you do this (which I often did by mistake), as in:

wrong_array = %w(1, 2, 3)

its elements will be three strings ---- "1,", "2,", "3". So if you do:

puts wrong_array

the output will be:

1,
2,
3
=>nil

which is not what we want here.

Hope this helps to clarify the point!

Non-alphanumeric list order from os.listdir()

You can use the builtin sorted function to sort the strings however you want. Based on what you describe,

sorted(os.listdir(whatever_directory))

Alternatively, you can use the .sort method of a list:

lst = os.listdir(whatever_directory)
lst.sort()

I think should do the trick.

Note that the order that os.listdir gets the filenames is probably completely dependent on your filesystem.

CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA added to NgModule.schemas still showing Error

Add the following under @NgModule({})in 'app.module.ts' :

import {CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA} from `@angular/core`;

and then

schemas: [

Your 'app.module.ts' should look like this:

import { NgModule, CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA } from '@angular/core';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [],
  imports: [],
  schemas: [ CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA],
  providers: [],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})

How to set the timeout for a TcpClient?

You would need to use the async BeginConnect method of TcpClient instead of attempting to connect synchronously, which is what the constructor does. Something like this:

var client = new TcpClient();
var result = client.BeginConnect("remotehost", this.Port, null, null);

var success = result.AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1));

if (!success)
{
    throw new Exception("Failed to connect.");
}

// we have connected
client.EndConnect(result);

Does Arduino use C or C++?

Arduino doesn't run either C or C++. It runs machine code compiled from either C, C++ or any other language that has a compiler for the Arduino instruction set.

C being a subset of C++, if Arduino can "run" C++ then it can "run" C.

If you don't already know C nor C++, you should probably start with C, just to get used to the whole "pointer" thing. You'll lose all the object inheritance capabilities though.

Get JavaScript object from array of objects by value of property

jsObjects.find(x => x.b === 6)

From MDN:

The find() method returns a value in the array, if an element in the array satisfies the provided testing function. Otherwise undefined is returned.

Side note: methods like find() and arrow functions are not supported by older browsers (like IE), so if you want to support these browsers, you should transpile your code using Babel.

Alternative to header("Content-type: text/xml");

Now I see what you are doing. You cannot send output to the screen then change the headers. If you are trying to create an XML file of map marker and download them to display, they should be in separate files.

Take this

<?php
require("database.php");
function parseToXML($htmlStr)
{
$xmlStr=str_replace('<','&lt;',$htmlStr);
$xmlStr=str_replace('>','&gt;',$xmlStr);
$xmlStr=str_replace('"','&quot;',$xmlStr);
$xmlStr=str_replace("'",'&#39;',$xmlStr);
$xmlStr=str_replace("&",'&amp;',$xmlStr);
return $xmlStr;
}
// Opens a connection to a MySQL server
$connection=mysql_connect (localhost, $username, $password);
if (!$connection) {
  die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error());
}
// Set the active MySQL database
$db_selected = mysql_select_db($database, $connection);
if (!$db_selected) {
  die ('Can\'t use db : ' . mysql_error());
}
// Select all the rows in the markers table
$query = "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE 1";
$result = mysql_query($query);
if (!$result) {
  die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error());
}
header("Content-type: text/xml");
// Start XML file, echo parent node
echo '<markers>';
// Iterate through the rows, printing XML nodes for each
while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
  // ADD TO XML DOCUMENT NODE
  echo '<marker ';
  echo 'name="' . parseToXML($row['name']) . '" ';
  echo 'address="' . parseToXML($row['address']) . '" ';
  echo 'lat="' . $row['lat'] . '" ';
  echo 'lng="' . $row['lng'] . '" ';
  echo 'type="' . $row['type'] . '" ';
  echo '/>';
}
// End XML file
echo '</markers>';
?>

and place it in phpsqlajax_genxml.php so your javascript can download the XML file. You are trying to do too many things in the same file.

RegEx to exclude a specific string constant

You have to use a negative lookahead assertion.

(?!^ABC$)

You could for example use the following.

(?!^ABC$)(^.*$)

If this does not work in your editor, try this. It is tested to work in ruby and javascript:

^((?!ABC).)*$

Use multiple css stylesheets in the same html page

You never refer to a specific style sheet. All CSS rules in a document are internally fused into one.

In the case of rules in both style sheets that apply to the same element with the same specificity, the style sheet embedded later will override the earlier one.

You can use an element inspector like Firebug to see which rules apply, and which ones are overridden by others.

What is a stored procedure?

A stored procedure is a set of precompiled SQL statements that are used to perform a special task.

Example: If I have an Employee table

Employee ID  Name       Age  Mobile
---------------------------------------
001          Sidheswar  25   9938885469
002          Pritish    32   9178542436

First I am retrieving the Employee table:

Create Procedure Employee details
As
Begin
    Select * from Employee
End

To run the procedure on SQL Server:

Execute   Employee details

--- (Employee details is a user defined name, give a name as you want)

Then second, I am inserting the value into the Employee Table

Create Procedure employee_insert
    (@EmployeeID int, @Name Varchar(30), @Age int, @Mobile int)
As
Begin
    Insert Into Employee
    Values (@EmployeeID, @Name, @Age, @Mobile)
End

To run the parametrized procedure on SQL Server:

Execute employee_insert 003,’xyz’,27,1234567890

  --(Parameter size must be same as declared column size)

Example: @Name Varchar(30)

In the Employee table the Name column's size must be varchar(30).

JavaScript OOP in NodeJS: how?

This is the best video about Object-Oriented JavaScript on the internet:

The Definitive Guide to Object-Oriented JavaScript

Watch from beginning to end!!

Basically, Javascript is a Prototype-based language which is quite different than the classes in Java, C++, C#, and other popular friends. The video explains the core concepts far better than any answer here.

With ES6 (released 2015) we got a "class" keyword which allows us to use Javascript "classes" like we would with Java, C++, C#, Swift, etc.

Screenshot from the video showing how to write and instantiate a Javascript class/subclass: enter image description here

Static Initialization Blocks

It is a common misconception to think that a static block has only access to static fields. For this I would like to show below piece of code that I quite often use in real-life projects (copied partially from another answer in a slightly different context):

public enum Language {
  ENGLISH("eng", "en", "en_GB", "en_US"),
  GERMAN("de", "ge"),
  CROATIAN("hr", "cro"),
  RUSSIAN("ru"),
  BELGIAN("be",";-)");

  static final private Map<String,Language> ALIAS_MAP = new HashMap<String,Language>();
  static {
    for (Language l:Language.values()) {
      // ignoring the case by normalizing to uppercase
      ALIAS_MAP.put(l.name().toUpperCase(),l);
      for (String alias:l.aliases) ALIAS_MAP.put(alias.toUpperCase(),l);
    }
  }

  static public boolean has(String value) {
    // ignoring the case by normalizing to uppercase
    return ALIAS_MAP.containsKey(value.toUpper());
  }

  static public Language fromString(String value) {
    if (value == null) throw new NullPointerException("alias null");
    Language l = ALIAS_MAP.get(value);
    if (l == null) throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not an alias: "+value);
    return l;
  }

  private List<String> aliases;
  private Language(String... aliases) {
    this.aliases = Arrays.asList(aliases);
  }
}

Here the initializer is used to maintain an index (ALIAS_MAP), to map a set of aliases back to the original enum type. It is intended as an extension to the built-in valueOf method provided by the Enum itself.

As you can see, the static initializer accesses even the private field aliases. It is important to understand that the static block already has access to the Enum value instances (e.g. ENGLISH). This is because the order of initialization and execution in the case of Enum types, just as if the static private fields have been initialized with instances before the static blocks have been called:

  1. The Enum constants which are implicit static fields. This requires the Enum constructor and instance blocks, and instance initialization to occur first as well.
  2. static block and initialization of static fields in the order of occurrence.

This out-of-order initialization (constructor before static block) is important to note. It also happens when we initialize static fields with the instances similarly to a Singleton (simplifications made):

public class Foo {
  static { System.out.println("Static Block 1"); }
  public static final Foo FOO = new Foo();
  static { System.out.println("Static Block 2"); }
  public Foo() { System.out.println("Constructor"); }
  static public void main(String p[]) {
    System.out.println("In Main");
    new Foo();
  }
}

What we see is the following output:

Static Block 1
Constructor
Static Block 2
In Main
Constructor

Clear is that the static initialization actually can happen before the constructor, and even after:

Simply accessing Foo in the main method, causes the class to be loaded and the static initialization to start. But as part of the Static initialization we again call the constructors for the static fields, after which it resumes static initialization, and completes the constructor called from within the main method. Rather complex situation for which I hope that in normal coding we would not have to deal with.

How to fix Hibernate LazyInitializationException: failed to lazily initialize a collection of roles, could not initialize proxy - no Session

The reason is that when you use lazy load, the session is closed.

There are two solutions.

  1. Don't use lazy load.

    Set lazy=false in XML or Set @OneToMany(fetch = FetchType.EAGER) In annotation.

  2. Use lazy load.

    Set lazy=true in XML or Set @OneToMany(fetch = FetchType.LAZY) In annotation.

    and add OpenSessionInViewFilter filter in your web.xml

Converting string to numeric

As csgillespie said. stringsAsFactors is default on TRUE, which converts any text to a factor. So even after deleting the text, you still have a factor in your dataframe.

Now regarding the conversion, there's a more optimal way to do so. So I put it here as a reference :

> x <- factor(sample(4:8,10,replace=T))
> x
 [1] 6 4 8 6 7 6 8 5 8 4
Levels: 4 5 6 7 8
> as.numeric(levels(x))[x]
 [1] 6 4 8 6 7 6 8 5 8 4

To show it works.

The timings :

> x <- factor(sample(4:8,500000,replace=T))
> system.time(as.numeric(as.character(x)))
   user  system elapsed
   0.11    0.00    0.11
> system.time(as.numeric(levels(x))[x])
   user  system elapsed
      0       0       0

It's a big improvement, but not always a bottleneck. It gets important however if you have a big dataframe and a lot of columns to convert.

VBA: How to delete filtered rows in Excel?

As an alternative to using UsedRange or providing an explicit range address, the AutoFilter.Range property can also specify the affected range.

ActiveSheet.AutoFilter.Range.Offset(1,0).Rows.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible).Delete(xlShiftUp)

As used here, Offset causes the first row after the AutoFilter range to also be deleted. In order to avoid that, I would try using .Resize() after .Offset().

How to configure multi-module Maven + Sonar + JaCoCo to give merged coverage report?

I'll post my solution as it it subtly different from others and also took me a solid day to get right, with the assistance of the existing answers.

For a multi-module Maven project:

ROOT
|--WAR
|--LIB-1
|--LIB-2
|--TEST

Where the WAR project is the main web app, LIB 1 and 2 are additional modules the WAR depends on and TEST is where the integration tests live. TEST spins up an embedded Tomcat instance (not via Tomcat plugin) and runs WAR project and tests them via a set of JUnit tests. The WAR and LIB projects both have their own unit tests.

The result of all this is the integration and unit test coverage being separated and able to be distinguished in SonarQube.

Git update submodules recursively

In recent Git (I'm using v2.15.1), the following will merge upstream submodule changes into the submodules recursively:

git submodule update --recursive --remote --merge

You may add --init to initialize any uninitialized submodules and use --rebase if you want to rebase instead of merge.

You need to commit the changes afterwards:

git add . && git commit -m 'Update submodules to latest revisions'
