UICollectionView current visible cell index

The method [collectionView visibleCells] give you all visibleCells array you want. Use it when you want to get

- (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView{
    for (UICollectionViewCell *cell in [self.mainImageCollection visibleCells]) {
        NSIndexPath *indexPath = [self.mainImageCollection indexPathForCell:cell];
        NSLog(@"%@",indexPath);
    }
}

Update to Swift 5:

func scrollViewDidEndDecelerating(_ scrollView: UIScrollView) {
    for cell in yourCollectionView.visibleCells {
        let indexPath = yourCollectionView.indexPath(for: cell)
        print(indexPath)
    }
}

How do I check if file exists in jQuery or pure JavaScript?

I was getting a cross domain permissions issue when trying to run the answer to this question so I went with:

function UrlExists(url) {
$('<img src="'+ url +'">').load(function() {
    return true;
}).bind('error', function() {
    return false;
});
}

It seems to work great, hope this helps someone!

How do you sign a Certificate Signing Request with your Certification Authority?

In addition to answer of @jww, I would like to say that the configuration in openssl-ca.cnf,

default_days     = 1000         # How long to certify for

defines the default number of days the certificate signed by this root-ca will be valid. To set the validity of root-ca itself you should use '-days n' option in:

openssl req -x509 -days 3000 -config openssl-ca.cnf -newkey rsa:4096 -sha256 -nodes -out cacert.pem -outform PEM

Failing to do so, your root-ca will be valid for only the default one month and any certificate signed by this root CA will also have validity of one month.

How to get the last value of an ArrayList

How about this.. Somewhere in your class...

List<E> list = new ArrayList<E>();
private int i = -1;
    public void addObjToList(E elt){
        i++;
        list.add(elt);
    }

    public E getObjFromList(){
        if(i == -1){
            //If list is empty handle the way you would like to... I am returning a null object
            return null; // or throw an exception
        }

        E object = list.get(i);
        list.remove(i); //Optional - makes list work like a stack
        i--;            //Optional - makes list work like a stack
        return object;
    }

With Spring can I make an optional path variable?

You could use a :

What does 'public static void' mean in Java?

It's three completely different things:

public means that the method is visible and can be called from other objects of other types. Other alternatives are private, protected, package and package-private. See here for more details.

static means that the method is associated with the class, not a specific instance (object) of that class. This means that you can call a static method without creating an object of the class.

void means that the method has no return value. If the method returned an int you would write int instead of void.

The combination of all three of these is most commonly seen on the main method which most tutorials will include.

How to convert an object to a byte array in C#

Console.log(); How to & Debugging javascript

Essentially console.log() allows you to output variables in your javascript debugger of choice instead of flashing an alert() every time you want to inspect something... additionally, for more complex objects it will give you a tree view to inspect the object further instead of having to convert elements to strings like an alert().

Converting dict to OrderedDict

Most of the time we go for OrderedDict when we required a custom order not a generic one like ASC etc.

Here is the proposed solution:

import collections
ship = {"NAME": "Albatross",
         "HP":50,
         "BLASTERS":13,
         "THRUSTERS":18,
         "PRICE":250}

ship = collections.OrderedDict(ship)

print ship

new_dict = collections.OrderedDict()
new_dict["NAME"]=ship["NAME"]
new_dict["HP"]=ship["HP"]
new_dict["BLASTERS"]=ship["BLASTERS"]
new_dict["THRUSTERS"]=ship["THRUSTERS"]
new_dict["PRICE"]=ship["PRICE"]

print new_dict

This will be output:

OrderedDict([('PRICE', 250), ('HP', 50), ('NAME', 'Albatross'), ('BLASTERS', 13), ('THRUSTERS', 18)])
OrderedDict([('NAME', 'Albatross'), ('HP', 50), ('BLASTERS', 13), ('THRUSTERS', 18), ('PRICE', 250)])

Note: The new sorted dictionaries maintain their sort order when entries are deleted. But when new keys are added, the keys are appended to the end and the sort is not maintained.(official doc)

How can I send the "&" (ampersand) character via AJAX?

Doing HTTP requests FROM Laravel to an external API

You just want to call an external URL and use the results? PHP does this out of the box, if we're talking about a simple GET request to something serving JSON:

$json = json_decode(file_get_contents('http://host.com/api/stuff/1'), true);

If you want to do a post request, it's a little harder but there's loads of examples how to do this with curl.

So I guess the question is; what exactly do you want?

PHP Echo text Color

If it echoing out to a browser, you should use CSS. This would require also having the comment wrapped in an HTML tag. Something like:

echo '<p style="color: red; text-align: center">
      Request has been sent. Please wait for my reply!
      </p>';

PHP: Show yes/no confirmation dialog

The PHP way of doing this would be using a dialog system inside php.for example GTKDialogs: http://www.kksou.com/php-gtk2/articles/setup-a-dialog-box---Part-2---simple-yes-no-dialog.php The javacript way is probably a bit easier, but remember when javascript is turned off, this does not work (except if you check javascript to be enabled and then add this!?) This could be with a onclick handler like tsvanharen posted, or with a simple text dialog inside the page instead of a nagging popup.

<a onClick="$('deletefromtable').show();"></a>
<div id="deletefromtable" style="display:none;">
 Do you really want to do this?<br/>
 <a href="deleteit.php">Yes</a>|<a onClick="$('deletefromtable').hide();">No</a>
</div>

I use prototype (hence the $() tag and the show()/hide()) for it. but you can easily change it to work without prototype:

<a onClick='document.getElementById("deletefromtable").style.display = "block";' href="#">click here to delete</a>
<div id="deletefromtable" style="display:none;">
 Do you really want to do this?<br/>
 <a href="deleteit.php">Yes</a>|<a onClick='document.getElementById("deletefromtable").style.display = "none";' href="#">No</a>
</div>

Again, this does not work without javascript, but almost no options do.

Is unsigned integer subtraction defined behavior?

When you work with unsigned types, modular arithmetic (also known as "wrap around" behavior) is taking place. To understand this modular arithmetic, just have a look at these clocks:

enter image description here

9 + 4 = 1 (13 mod 12), so to the other direction it is: 1 - 4 = 9 (-3 mod 12). The same principle is applied while working with unsigned types. If the result type is unsigned, then modular arithmetic takes place.

Now look at the following operations storing the result as an unsigned int:

unsigned int five = 5, seven = 7;
unsigned int a = five - seven;      // a = (-2 % 2^32) = 4294967294

int one = 1, six = 6;
unsigned int b = one - six;         // b = (-5 % 2^32) = 4294967291

When you want to make sure that the result is signed, then stored it into signed variable or cast it to signed. When you want to get the difference between numbers and make sure that the modular arithmetic will not be applied, then you should consider using abs() function defined in stdlib.h:

int c = five - seven;       // c = -2
int d = abs(five - seven);  // d =  2

Be very careful, especially while writing conditions, because:

if (abs(five - seven) < seven)  // = if (2 < 7)
    // ...

if (five - seven < -1)          // = if (-2 < -1)
    // ...

if (one - six < 1)              // = if (-5 < 1)
    // ...

if ((int)(five - seven) < 1)    // = if (-2 < 1)
    // ...

but

if (five - seven < 1)   // = if ((unsigned int)-2 < 1) = if (4294967294 < 1)
    // ...

if (one - six < five)   // = if ((unsigned int)-5 < 5) = if (4294967291 < 5)
    // ...

Expected BEGIN_ARRAY but was BEGIN_OBJECT at line 1 column 2

Response you are getting is in object form i.e.

  "rawOffset" : 36000,
  "status" : "OK",
  "timeZoneId" : "Australia/Hobart",

}

How to type ":" ("colon") in regexp?

Colon does not have special meaning in a character class and does not need to be escaped. According to the PHP regex docs, the only characters that need to be escaped in a character class are the following:

All non-alphanumeric characters other than \, -, ^ (at the start) and the terminating ] are non-special in character classes, but it does no harm if they are escaped.

date() method, "A non well formed numeric value encountered" does not want to format a date passed in $_POST

From the documentation for strtotime():

Dates in the m/d/y or d-m-y formats are disambiguated by looking at the separator between the various components: if the separator is a slash (/), then the American m/d/y is assumed; whereas if the separator is a dash (-) or a dot (.), then the European d-m-y format is assumed.

In your date string, you have 12-16-2013. 16 isn't a valid month, and hence strtotime() returns false.

Since you can't use DateTime class, you could manually replace the - with / using str_replace() to convert the date string into a format that strtotime() understands:

$date = '2-16-2013';
echo date('Y-m-d', strtotime(str_replace('-','/', $date))); // => 2013-02-16

PHP Pass by reference in foreach

Because on the second loop, $v is still a reference to the last array item, so it's overwritten each time.

You can see it like that:

$a = array ('zero','one','two', 'three');

foreach ($a as &$v) {

}

foreach ($a as $v) {
  echo $v.'-'.$a[3].PHP_EOL;
}

As you can see, the last array item takes the current loop value: 'zero', 'one', 'two', and then it's just 'two'... : )

What is "runtime"?

Run time exactly where your code comes into life and you can see lot of important thing your code do.

Runtime has a responsibility of allocating memory , freeing memory , using operating system's sub system like (File Services, IO Services.. Network Services etc.)

Your code will be called "WORKING IN THEORY" until you practically run your code. and Runtime is a friend which helps in achiving this.

How do you do the "therefore" (?) symbol on a Mac or in Textmate?

If you want to do this often, you can create a keybindings file in your Library to map it to a key combination.

In ~/Library create a directory named KeyBindings. Create a file named DefaultKeyBinding.dict inside the directory. You can add key bindings in this format:

{
    "x" = (insertText:, "\U23CF");
    "y" = (insertText:, "hi"); /* warning: this will change 'y' to 'hi'! */
}

The LHS is the key combination you'll hit to enter the character. You can use the following characters to indicate command keys:

@ - Command

~ - Option

^ - Control

You'll need to look up the unicode for your character (in this case, ? is \U2234). So to type this character whenever you typed Control-M, you'd use

"^m" = (insertText:, "\U2234");

Split function in oracle to comma separated values with automatic sequence

This function returns the nth part of input string MYSTRING. Second input parameter is separator ie., SEPARATOR_OF_SUBSTR and the third parameter is Nth Part which is required.

Note: MYSTRING should end with the separator.

create or replace FUNCTION PK_GET_NTH_PART(MYSTRING VARCHAR2,SEPARATOR_OF_SUBSTR VARCHAR2,NTH_PART NUMBER)
RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
NTH_SUBSTR VARCHAR2(500);
POS1 NUMBER(4);
POS2 NUMBER(4);
BEGIN
IF NTH_PART=1 THEN
SELECT REGEXP_INSTR(MYSTRING,SEPARATOR_OF_SUBSTR, 1, 1)  INTO POS1 FROM DUAL;
SELECT SUBSTR(MYSTRING,0,POS1-1) INTO NTH_SUBSTR FROM DUAL;
ELSE
SELECT REGEXP_INSTR(MYSTRING,SEPARATOR_OF_SUBSTR, 1, NTH_PART-1) INTO  POS1 FROM DUAL;
SELECT REGEXP_INSTR(MYSTRING,SEPARATOR_OF_SUBSTR, 1, NTH_PART)  INTO POS2 FROM DUAL;
SELECT SUBSTR(MYSTRING,POS1+1,(POS2-POS1-1)) INTO NTH_SUBSTR FROM DUAL;
END IF;
RETURN NTH_SUBSTR;
END;

Hope this helps some body, you can use this function like this in a loop to get all the values separated:

SELECT REGEXP_COUNT(MYSTRING, '~', 1, 'i') INTO NO_OF_RECORDS FROM DUAL;
WHILE NO_OF_RECORDS>0
LOOP
    PK_RECORD    :=PK_GET_NTH_PART(MYSTRING,'~',NO_OF_RECORDS);
    -- do some thing
    NO_OF_RECORDS  :=NO_OF_RECORDS-1;
END LOOP;

Here NO_OF_RECORDS,PK_RECORD are temp variables.

Hope this helps.

What is the difference between Bower and npm?

Bower maintains a single version of modules, it only tries to help you select the correct/best one for you.

Javascript dependency management : npm vs bower vs volo?

NPM is better for node modules because there is a module system and you're working locally. Bower is good for the browser because currently there is only the global scope, and you want to be very selective about the version you work with.

Java String.split() Regex

You could also do something like:

String str = "a + b - c * d / e < f > g >= h <= i == j";
String[] arr = str.split("(?<=\\G(\\w+(?!\\w+)|==|<=|>=|\\+|/|\\*|-|(<|>)(?!=)))\\s*");

It handles white spaces and words of variable length and produces the array:

[a, +, b, -, c, *, d, /, e, <, f, >, g, >=, h, <=, i, ==, j]

Can anyone explain me StandardScaler?

This is useful when you want to compare data that correspond to different units. In that case, you want to remove the units. To do that in a consistent way of all the data, you transform the data in a way that the variance is unitary and that the mean of the series is 0.

How to Return partial view of another controller by controller?

Normally the views belong with a specific matching controller that supports its data requirements, or the view belongs in the Views/Shared folder if shared between controllers (hence the name).

"Answer" (but not recommended - see below):

You can refer to views/partial views from another controller, by specifying the full path (including extension) like:

return PartialView("~/views/ABC/XXX.cshtml", zyxmodel);

or a relative path (no extension), based on the answer by @Max Toro

return PartialView("../ABC/XXX", zyxmodel);

BUT THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA ANYWAY

*Note: These are the only two syntax that work. not ABC\\XXX or ABC/XXX or any other variation as those are all relative paths and do not find a match.

Better Alternatives:

You can use Html.Renderpartial in your view instead, but it requires the extension as well:

Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/ControllerName/ViewName.cshtml", modeldata);

Use @Html.Partial for inline Razor syntax:

@Html.Partial("~/Views/ControllerName/ViewName.cshtml", modeldata)

You can use the ../controller/view syntax with no extension (again credit to @Max Toro):

@Html.Partial("../ControllerName/ViewName", modeldata)

Note: Apparently RenderPartial is slightly faster than Partial, but that is not important.

If you want to actually call the other controller, use:

@Html.Action("action", "controller", parameters)

Recommended solution: @Html.Action

My personal preference is to use @Html.Action as it allows each controller to manage its own views, rather than cross-referencing views from other controllers (which leads to a large spaghetti-like mess).

You would normally pass just the required key values (like any other view) e.g. for your example:

@Html.Action("XXX", "ABC", new {id = model.xyzId })

This will execute the ABC.XXX action and render the result in-place. This allows the views and controllers to remain separately self-contained (i.e. reusable).

Update Sep 2014:

I have just hit a situation where I could not use @Html.Action, but needed to create a view path based on a action and controller names. To that end I added this simple View extension method to UrlHelper so you can say return PartialView(Url.View("actionName", "controllerName"), modelData):

public static class UrlHelperExtension
{
    /// <summary>
    /// Return a view path based on an action name and controller name
    /// </summary>
    /// <param name="url">Context for extension method</param>
    /// <param name="action">Action name</param>
    /// <param name="controller">Controller name</param>
    /// <returns>A string in the form "~/views/{controller}/{action}.cshtml</returns>
    public static string View(this UrlHelper url, string action, string controller)
    {
        return string.Format("~/Views/{1}/{0}.cshtml", action, controller);
    }
}

<Route exact path="/" component={() => <Redirect to={{ pathname: '/YourRoute' }} />} />

For my case, I was looking for a way to redirect users whenever they visit the root URL http://myapp.com to somewhere else within the app http://myapp.com/newplace. so the above helped.

Is true == 1 and false == 0 in JavaScript?

From the ECMAScript specification, Section 11.9.3 The Abstract Equality Comparison Algorithm:

The comparison x == y, where x and y are values, produces true or false. Such a comparison is performed as follows:

  • If Type(y) is Boolean, return the result of the comparison x == ToNumber(y).

Thus, in, if (1 == true), true gets coerced to a Number, i.e. Number(true), which results in the value of 1, yielding the final if (1 == 1) which is true.

if (0 == false) is the exact same logic, since Number(false) == 0.

This doesn't happen when you use the strict equals operator === instead:

11.9.6 The Strict Equality Comparison Algorithm

The comparison x === y, where x and y are values, produces true or false. Such a comparison is performed as follows:

  • If Type(x) is different from Type(y), return false.

Import-Module : The specified module 'activedirectory' was not loaded because no valid module file was found in any module directory

Even better use implicit remoting to use a module from another Machine!

$s = New-PSSession Server-Name
Invoke-Command -Session $s -ScriptBlock {Import-Module ActiveDirectory}
Import-PSSession -Session $s -Module ActiveDirectory -Prefix REM

This will allow you to use the module off a remote PC for as long as the PSSession is connected.

New xampp security concept: Access Forbidden Error 403 - Windows 7 - phpMyAdmin

For many it's a permission issue, but for me it turns out the error was brought about by a mistake in the form I was trying to submit. To be specific i had accidentally put ">" sign after the value of "action". So I would suggest you take a second look at your code

How do I use hexadecimal color strings in Flutter?

You can use this package from_css_color to get Color out of a hex string. It supports both three and six digit RGB hex notation.

Color color = fromCSSColor('#ff00aa')

For optimisation sake create Color instance once for each color and store it somewhere for later usage.

How do I reset the scale/zoom of a web app on an orientation change on the iPhone?

I had the same problem, and setting the maximum-scale=1.0 worked for me.

Edit: As mentioned in the comments this does disable user zoom except when the content exceeds the width-resolution. As mentioned, this might not be wise. It might also be desired in some cases.

The viewport code:

    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0;">

Is it bad to have my virtualenv directory inside my git repository?

If you just setting up development env, then use pip freeze file, caz that makes the git repo clean.

Then if doing production deployment, then checkin the whole venv folder. That will make your deployment more reproducible, not need those libxxx-dev packages, and avoid the internet issues.

So there are two repos. One for your main source code, which includes a requirements.txt. And a env repo, which contains the whole venv folder.

Explain the different tiers of 2 tier & 3 tier architecture?

First, we must make a distinction between layers and tiers. Layers are the way to logically break code into components and tiers are the physical nodes to place the components on. This question explains it better: What's the difference between "Layers" and "Tiers"?

A two layer architecture is usually just a presentation layer and data store layer. These can be on 1 tier (1 machine) or 2 tiers (2 machines) to achieve better performance by distributing the work load.

A three layer architecture usually puts something between the presentation and data store layers such as a business logic layer or service layer. Again, you can put this into 1,2, or 3 tiers depending on how much money you have for hardware and how much load you expect.

Putting multiple machines in a tier will help with the robustness of the system by providing redundancy.

Below is a good example of a layered architecture:

Getting the filenames of all files in a folder

Create a File object, passing the directory path to the constructor. Use the listFiles() to retrieve an array of File objects for each file in the directory, and then call the getName() method to get the filename.

List<String> results = new ArrayList<String>();

File[] files = new File("/path/to/the/directory").listFiles();
//If this pathname does not denote a directory, then listFiles() returns null.

for (File file : files) {
    if (file.isFile()) {
        results.add(file.getName());
    }
}

react-router getting this.props.location in child components

If the above solution didn't work for you, you can use import { withRouter } from 'react-router-dom';

Using this you can export your child class as -

class MyApp extends Component{
    // your code
}

export default withRouter(MyApp);

And your class with Router -

// your code
<Router>
      ...
      <Route path="/myapp" component={MyApp} />
      // or if you are sending additional fields
      <Route path="/myapp" component={() =><MyApp process={...} />} />
<Router>

Remove scrollbars from textarea

Hide scroll bar, but while still being able to scroll using CSS

To hide the scrollbar use -webkit- because it is supported by major browsers (Google Chrome, Safari or newer versions of Opera). There are many other options for the other browsers which are listed below:

    -webkit- (Chrome, Safari, newer versions of Opera):
    .element::-webkit-scrollbar { width: 0 !important }
    -moz- (Firefox):
    .element { overflow: -moz-scrollbars-none; }
    -ms- (Internet Explorer +10):
    .element { -ms-overflow-style: none; }

Make child visible outside an overflow:hidden parent

You can use the clearfix to do "layout preserving" the same way overflow: hidden does.

.clearfix:before,
.clearfix:after {
    content: ".";
    display: block;
    height: 0;
    overflow: hidden;
}
.clearfix:after { clear: both; }
.clearfix { zoom: 1; } /* IE < 8 */

add class="clearfix" class to the parent, and remove overflow: hidden;

How to compare if two structs, slices or maps are equal?

reflect.DeepEqual is often incorrectly used to compare two like structs, as in your question.

cmp.Equal is a better tool for comparing structs.

To see why reflection is ill-advised, let's look at the documentation:

Struct values are deeply equal if their corresponding fields, both exported and unexported, are deeply equal.

....

numbers, bools, strings, and channels - are deeply equal if they are equal using Go's == operator.

If we compare two time.Time values of the same UTC time, t1 == t2 will be false if their metadata timezone is different.

go-cmp looks for the Equal() method and uses that to correctly compare times.

Example:

m1 := map[string]int{
    "a": 1,
    "b": 2,
}
m2 := map[string]int{
    "a": 1,
    "b": 2,
}
fmt.Println(cmp.Equal(m1, m2)) // will result in true

How to expand and compute log(a + b)?

In general, one doesn't expand out log(a + b); you just deal with it as is. That said, there are occasionally circumstances where it makes sense to use the following identity:

log(a + b) = log(a * (1 + b/a)) = log a + log(1 + b/a)

(In fact, this identity is often used when implementing log in math libraries).

How to get files in a relative path in C#

Write it like this:

string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(@".\Archive", "*.zip");

. is for relative to the folder where you started your exe, and @ to allow \ in the name.

When using filters, you pass it as a second parameter. You can also add a third parameter to specify if you want to search recursively for the pattern.

In order to get the folder where your .exe actually resides, use:

var executingPath = Path.GetDirectoryName(Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().Location);

How to input matrix (2D list) in Python?

you can accept a 2D list in python this way ...

simply

arr2d = [[j for j in input().strip()] for i in range(n)]
# n is no of rows

for characters

n = int(input().strip())
m = int(input().strip())
a = [[0]*n for _ in range(m)]
for i in range(n):
    a[i] = list(input().strip())
print(a)

or

n = int(input().strip())
n = int(input().strip())
a = []
for i in range(n):
    a[i].append(list(input().strip()))
print(a)

for numbers

n = int(input().strip())
m = int(input().strip())
a = [[0]*n for _ in range(m)]
for i in range(n):
    a[i] = [int(j) for j in input().strip().split(" ")]
print(a)

where n is no of elements in columns while m is no of elements in a row.

In pythonic way, this will create a list of list

How to move columns in a MySQL table?

I had to run this for a column introduced in the later stages of a product, on 10+ tables. So wrote this quick untidy script to generate the alter command for all 'relevant' tables.

`",COLUMN_NAME,"` ", c.DATA_TYPE, CASE WHEN c.CHARACTER_MAXIMUM_LENGTH IS NOT

`",@NeighboringColumn,"`;")
FROM information_schema.COLUMNS c, information_schema.TABLES t
WHERE c.TABLE_SCHEMA = '<YOUR SCHEMA NAME>'
AND c.COLUMN_NAME = '<COLUMN TO MOVE>'
AND c.TABLE_SCHEMA = t.TABLE_SCHEMA
AND c.TABLE_NAME = t.TABLE_NAME
AND t.TABLE_TYPE = 'BASE TABLE'
AND @NeighboringColumn IN (SELECT COLUMN_NAME
    FROM information_schema.COLUMNS c2
    WHERE c2.TABLE_NAME = t.TABLE_NAME);

JCheckbox - ActionListener and ItemListener?

I've been testing this myself, and looking at all the answers on this post and I don't think they answer this question very well. I experimented myself in order to get a good answer (code below). You CAN fire either event with both ActionListener and ItemListener 100% of the time when a state is changed in either a radio button or a check box, or any other kind of Swing item I'm assuming since it is type Object. The ONLY difference I can tell between these two listeners is the type of Event Object that gets returned with the listener is different. AND you get a better event type with a checkbox using an ItemListener as opposed to an ActionListener.

The return types of an ActionEvent and an ItemEvent will have different methods stored that may be used when an Event Type gets fired. In the code below the comments show the difference in .get methods for each Class returned Event type.

The code below sets up a simple JPanel with JRadioButtons, JCheckBoxes, and a JLabel display that changes based on button configs. I set all the RadioButtons and CheckBoxes up with both an Action Listener and an Item Listener. Then I wrote the Listener classes below with ActionListener fully commented because I tested it first in this experiment. You will notice that if you add this panel to a frame and display, all radiobuttons and checkboxes always fire regardless of the Listener type, just comment out the methods in one and try the other and vice versa.

Return Type into the implemented methods is the MAIN difference between the two. Both Listeners fire events the same way. Explained a little better in comment above is the reason a checkbox should use an ItemListener over ActionListener due to the Event type that is returned.

How do I test if a string is empty in Objective-C?

One of the best solution I ever seen (better than Matt G's one) is this improved inline function I picked up on some Git Hub repo (Wil Shipley's one, but I can't find the link) :

// Check if the "thing" passed is empty
static inline BOOL isEmpty(id thing) {
    return thing == nil
    || [thing isKindOfClass:[NSNull class]]
    || ([thing respondsToSelector:@selector(length)]
        && [(NSData *)thing length] == 0)
    || ([thing respondsToSelector:@selector(count)]
        && [(NSArray *)thing count] == 0);
}

How can I auto-elevate my batch file, so that it requests from UAC administrator rights if required?

As jcoder and Matt mentioned, PowerShell made it easy, and it could even be embedded in the batch script without creating a new script.

I modified Matt's script:

:: Check privileges
net file 1>NUL 2>NUL
if not '%errorlevel%' == '0' (
    powershell Start-Process -FilePath "%0" -ArgumentList "%cd%" -verb runas >NUL 2>&1
    exit /b
)

:: Change directory with passed argument. Processes started with
:: "runas" start with forced C:\Windows\System32 workdir
cd /d %1

:: Actual work

Binding ComboBox SelectedItem using MVVM

You seem to be unnecessarily setting properties on your ComboBox. You can remove the DisplayMemberPath and SelectedValuePath properties which have different uses. It might be an idea for you to take a look at the Difference between SelectedItem, SelectedValue and SelectedValuePath post here for an explanation of these properties. Try this:

<ComboBox Name="cbxSalesPeriods"
    ItemsSource="{Binding SalesPeriods}"
    SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedSalesPeriod}"
    IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True"/>

Furthermore, it is pointless using your displayPeriod property, as the WPF Framework would call the ToString method automatically for objects that it needs to display that don't have a DataTemplate set up for them explicitly.

UPDATE >>>

As I can't see all of your code, I cannot tell you what you are doing wrong. Instead, all I can do is to provide you with a complete working example of how to achieve what you want. I've removed the pointless displayPeriod property and also your SalesPeriodVO property from your class as I know nothing about it... maybe that is the cause of your problem??. Try this:

public class SalesPeriodV
{
    private int month, year;

    public int Year
    {
        get { return year; }
        set
        {
            if (year != value)
            {
                year = value;
                NotifyPropertyChanged("Year");
            }
        }
    }

    public int Month
    {
        get { return month; }
        set
        {
            if (month != value)
            {
                month = value;
                NotifyPropertyChanged("Month");
            }
        }
    }

    public override string ToString()
    {
        return String.Format("{0:D2}.{1}", Month, Year);
    }

    public virtual event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged;
    protected virtual void NotifyPropertyChanged(params string[] propertyNames)
    {
        if (PropertyChanged != null)
        {
            foreach (string propertyName in propertyNames) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName));
            PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("HasError"));
        }
    }
}

Then I added two properties into the view model:

private ObservableCollection<SalesPeriodV> salesPeriods = new ObservableCollection<SalesPeriodV>();
public ObservableCollection<SalesPeriodV> SalesPeriods
{
    get { return salesPeriods; }
    set { salesPeriods = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("SalesPeriods"); }
}
private SalesPeriodV selectedItem = new SalesPeriodV();
public SalesPeriodV SelectedItem
{
    get { return selectedItem; }
    set { selectedItem = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("SelectedItem"); }
}

Then initialised the collection with your values:

SalesPeriods.Add(new SalesPeriodV() { Month = 3, Year = 2013 } );
SalesPeriods.Add(new SalesPeriodV() { Month = 4, Year = 2013 } );

And then data bound only these two properties to a ComboBox:

<ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding SalesPeriods}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedItem}" />

That's it... that's all you need for a perfectly working example. You should see that the display of the items comes from the ToString method without your displayPeriod property. Hopefully, you can work out your mistakes from this code example.

jQuery: checking if the value of a field is null (empty)

The value of a field can not be null, it's always a string value.

The code will check if the string value is the string "NULL". You want to check if it's an empty string instead:

if ($('#person_data[document_type]').val() != ''){}

or:

if ($('#person_data[document_type]').val().length != 0){}

If you want to check if the element exist at all, you should do that before calling val:

var $d = $('#person_data[document_type]');
if ($d.length != 0) {
  if ($d.val().length != 0 ) {...}
}

Getting the class of the element that fired an event using JQuery

Try:

$(document).ready(function() {
    $("a").click(function(event) {
       alert(event.target.id+" and "+$(event.target).attr('class'));
    });
});

%i or %d to print integer in C using printf()?

They are completely equivalent when used with printf(). Personally, I prefer %d, it's used more often (should I say "it's the idiomatic conversion specifier for int"?).

(One difference between %i and %d is that when used with scanf(), then %d always expects a decimal integer, whereas %i recognizes the 0 and 0x prefixes as octal and hexadecimal, but no sane programmer uses scanf() anyway so this should not be a concern.)

Java: Difference between the setPreferredSize() and setSize() methods in components

setSize will resize the component to the specified size.

setPreferredSize sets the preferred size. The component may not actually be this size depending on the size of the container it's in, or if the user re-sized the component manually.

How can I refresh c# dataGridView after update ?

Rebind your DatagridView to the source.

DataGridView dg1 = new DataGridView();
dg1.DataSource = src1;

// Update Data in src1

dg1.DataSource = null;
dg1.DataSource = src1;

Group list by values

>>> xs = [["A",0], ["B",1], ["C",0], ["D",2], ["E",2]]
>>> xs.sort(key=lambda x: x[1])
>>> reduce(lambda l, x: (l.append([x]) if l[-1][0][1] != x[1] else l[-1].append(x)) or l, xs[1:], [[xs[0]]]) if xs else []
[[['A', 0], ['C', 0]], [['B', 1]], [['D', 2], ['E', 2]]]

Basically, if the list is sorted, it is possible to reduce by looking at the last group constructed by the previous steps - you can tell if you need to start a new group, or modify an existing group. The ... or l bit is a trick that enables us to use lambda in Python. (append returns None. It is always better to return something more useful than None, but, alas, such is Python.)

Not quite a builder, but using an initializer:

}};

Excel VBA Macro: User Defined Type Not Defined

Your error is caused by these:

Dim oTable As Table, oRow As Row,

These types, Table and Row are not variable types native to Excel. You can resolve this in one of two ways:

  1. Include a reference to the Microsoft Word object model. Do this from Tools | References, then add reference to MS Word. While not strictly necessary, you may like to fully qualify the objects like Dim oTable as Word.Table, oRow as Word.Row. This is called early-binding. enter image description here
  2. Alternatively, to use late-binding method, you must declare the objects as generic Object type: Dim oTable as Object, oRow as Object. With this method, you do not need to add the reference to Word, but you also lose the intellisense assistance in the VBE.

I have not tested your code but I suspect ActiveDocument won't work in Excel with method #2, unless you properly scope it to an instance of a Word.Application object. I don't see that anywhere in the code you have provided. An example would be like:

Sub DeleteEmptyRows()
Dim wdApp as Object
Dim oTable As Object, As Object, _
TextInRow As Boolean, i As Long

Set wdApp = GetObject(,"Word.Application")

Application.ScreenUpdating = False

For Each oTable In wdApp.ActiveDocument.Tables

SimpleDateFormat parsing date with 'Z' literal

Regex for remove everything after | (with | )

The pipe, |, is a special-character in regex (meaning "or") and you'll have to escape it with a \.

Using your current regex:

\|.*$

I've tried this in Notepad++, as you've mentioned, and it appears to work well.

What is the difference between bindParam and bindValue?

From the manual entry for PDOStatement::bindParam:

[With bindParam] Unlike PDOStatement::bindValue(), the variable is bound as a reference and will only be evaluated at the time that PDOStatement::execute() is called.

So, for example:

$sex = 'male';
$s = $dbh->prepare('SELECT name FROM students WHERE sex = :sex');
$s->bindParam(':sex', $sex); // use bindParam to bind the variable
$sex = 'female';
$s->execute(); // executed with WHERE sex = 'female'

or

$sex = 'male';
$s = $dbh->prepare('SELECT name FROM students WHERE sex = :sex');
$s->bindValue(':sex', $sex); // use bindValue to bind the variable's value
$sex = 'female';
$s->execute(); // executed with WHERE sex = 'male'

Android Studio - Unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Okay, Probably I am late but I have faced this issue after upgrading to 3.0.1 from 3.0. And this problem because I am working in restricted network.

The solution which worked for me is as follow:

Solution

Step 1: Get Certificate

jcenter() equals to https://bintray.com/bintray/jcenter

You need import jcenter's cerficate into your java keystore.

Visit jcenter using your browser and export the certificate as .cer file. (lock icon on the left of Firefox address bar, or Chrome developer tool secuity tab. Internet Explorer and Edge do not support saving of Website certificates, though.)

Step 2: Import Certificate In Android Studio, go to File -> Settings -> Tools -> Server Certificates.

Under Accept certificates click on + . Select the exported certificate.

Step 3: Refresh Keystore In Android Studio, go to File -> Invalidate Caches/Restart.... Select Invalidate and Restart from the message box that appears.

how does Request.QueryString work?

A query string is an array of parameters sent to a web page.

This url: http://page.asp?x=1&y=hello

Request.QueryString[0] is the same as
Request.QueryString["x"] and holds a string value "1"

Request.QueryString[1] is the same as
Request.QueryString["y"] and holds a string value "hello"

Sort a list of lists with a custom compare function

Since the OP was asking for using a custom compare function (and this is what led me to this question as well), I want to give a solid answer here:

Generally, you want to use the built-in sorted() function which takes a custom comparator as its parameter. We need to pay attention to the fact that in Python 3 the parameter name and semantics have changed.

How the custom comparator works

When providing a custom comparator, it should generally return an integer/float value that follows the following pattern (as with most other programming languages and frameworks):

  • return a negative value (< 0) when the left item should be sorted before the right item
  • return a positive value (> 0) when the left item should be sorted after the right item
  • return 0 when both the left and the right item have the same weight and should be ordered "equally" without precedence

In the particular case of the OP's question, the following custom compare function can be used:

def compare(item1, item2):
    return fitness(item1) - fitness(item2)

Using the minus operation is a nifty trick because it yields to positive values when the weight of left item1 is bigger than the weight of the right item2. Hence item1 will be sorted after item2.

If you want to reverse the sort order, simply reverse the subtraction: return fitness(item2) - fitness(item1)

Calling sorted() in Python 2

sorted(mylist, cmp=compare)

or:

sorted(mylist, cmp=lambda item1, item2: fitness(item1) - fitness(item2))

Calling sorted() in Python 3

from functools import cmp_to_key
sorted(mylist, key=cmp_to_key(compare))

or:

from functools import cmp_to_key
sorted(mylist, key=cmp_to_key(lambda item1, item2: fitness(item1) - fitness(item2)))

How can I get the source directory of a Bash script from within the script itself?

This is what I crafted throughout the years to use as a header on my Bash scripts:

## BASE BRAIN - Get where you're from and who you are.
MYPID=$$
ORIGINAL_DIR="$(pwd)" # This is not a hot air balloon ride..
fa="$0" # First Assumption
ta= # Temporary Assumption
wa= # Weighed Assumption
while true; do
    [ "${fa:0:1}" = "/" ] && wa=$0 && break
    [ "${fa:0:2}" = "./" ] && ta="${ORIGINAL_DIR}/${fa:2}" && [ -e "$ta" ] && wa="$ta" && break
    ta="${ORIGINAL_DIR}/${fa}" && [ -e "$ta" ] && wa="$ta" && break
done
SW="$wa"
SWDIR="$(dirname "$wa")"
SWBIN="$(basename "$wa")"
unset ta fa wa
( [ ! -e "$SWDIR/$SWBIN" ] || [ -z "$SW" ] ) && echo "I could not find my way around :( possible bug in the TOP script" && exit 1

At this point, your variables SW, SWDIR, and SWBIN contain what you need.

Spring Boot without the web server

You can create something like this:

@SpringBootApplication
public class Application {
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    new SpringApplicationBuilder(Application.class).web(false).run(args);
  }
}

And

@Component
public class CommandLiner implements CommandLineRunner {

  @Override
  public void run(String... args) throws Exception {
    // Put your logic here
  }

}

The dependency is still there though but not used.

CSS-Only Scrollable Table with fixed headers

Ive achieved this easily using this code :

So you have a structure like this :

<table>
<thead><tr></tr></thead>
<tbody><tr></tr></tbody>
</table>

just style the thead with :

<style>
thead{
    position: -webkit-sticky;
    position: -moz-sticky;
    position: -ms-sticky;
    position: -o-sticky;
    position: sticky;
    top: 0px;
}
</style>

Three things to consider :

First, this property is new. It’s not supported at all, apart from the beta builds of Webkit-based browsers. So caveat formator. Again, if you really want for your users to benefit from sticky headers, go with a javascript implementation.

Second, if you do use it, you’ll need to incorporate vendor prefixes. Perhaps position: sticky will work one day. For now, though, you need to use position:-webkit-sticky (and the others; check the block of css further up in this post).

Third, there aren’t any positioning defaults at the moment, so you need to at least include top: 0; in the same css declaration as the position:-webkit-sticky. Otherwise, it’ll just scroll off-screen.

How to select multiple rows filled with constants?

How do you add an ActionListener onto a JButton in Java

Two ways:

1. Implement ActionListener in your class, then use jBtnSelection.addActionListener(this); Later, you'll have to define a menthod, public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e). However, doing this for multiple buttons can be confusing, because the actionPerformed method will have to check the source of each event (e.getSource()) to see which button it came from.

2. Use anonymous inner classes:

jBtnSelection.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
  public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    selectionButtonPressed();
  }
} );

Later, you'll have to define selectionButtonPressed(). This works better when you have multiple buttons, because your calls to individual methods for handling the actions are right next to the definition of the button.

The second method also allows you to call the selection method directly. In this case, you could call selectionButtonPressed() if some other action happens, too - like, when a timer goes off or something (but in this case, your method would be named something different, maybe selectionChanged()).

How to center a Window in Java?

Actually frame.getHeight() and getwidth() doesnt return values , check it by System.out.println(frame.getHeight()); directly put the values for width and height ,then it will work fine in center. eg: as below

Dimension dimension = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
int x=(int)((dimension.getWidth() - 450)/2);
int y=(int)((dimension.getHeight() - 450)/2);
jf.setLocation(x, y);

both 450 is my frame width n height

How can I make a float top with CSS?

Simply use vertical-align:

.className {
    display: inline-block;
    vertical-align: top;
}

Execute Python script via crontab

As you have mentioned it doesn't change anything.

First, you should redirect both standard input and standard error from the crontab execution like below:

*/2 * * * * /usr/bin/python /home/souza/Documets/Listener/listener.py > /tmp/listener.log 2>&1

Then you can view the file /tmp/listener.log to see if the script executed as you expected.

Second, I guess what you mean by change anything is by watching the files created by your program:

f = file('counter', 'r+w')
json_file = file('json_file_create_server.json', 'r+w')

The crontab job above won't create these file in directory /home/souza/Documets/Listener, as the cron job is not executed in this directory, and you use relative path in the program. So to create this file in directory /home/souza/Documets/Listener, the following cron job will do the trick:

*/2 * * * * cd /home/souza/Documets/Listener && /usr/bin/python listener.py > /tmp/listener.log 2>&1

Change to the working directory and execute the script from there, and then you can view the files created in place.

Laravel orderBy on a relationship

I believe you can also do:

$sortDirection = 'desc';

$user->with(['comments' => function ($query) use ($sortDirection) {
    $query->orderBy('column', $sortDirection);
}]);

That allows you to run arbitrary logic on each related comment record. You could have stuff in there like:

$query->where('timestamp', '<', $someTime)->orderBy('timestamp', $sortDirection);

how to call a function from another function in Jquery

I think in this case you want something like this:

$(window).resize(resize=function resize(){ some code...}

Now u can call resize() within some other nested functions:

$(window).scroll(function(){ resize();}

How do I keep the screen on in my App?

You need to use Power Manager to acquire a wake lock in your application.

Most probably you are interested in a FULL_WAKE_LOCK:

PowerManager pm = (PowerManager) getSystemService(Context.POWER_SERVICE);
PowerManager.WakeLock wl = pm.newWakeLock(PowerManager.FULL_WAKE_LOCK, "My Tag");
wl.acquire();
....
wl.release();

Undefined index with $_POST

Try this:

I use this everywhere where there is a $_POST request.

$username=isset($_POST['username']) ? $_POST['username'] : "";

This is just a short hand boolean, if isset it will set it to $_POST['username'], if not then it will set it to an empty string.

Usage example:

if($username===""){ echo "Field is blank" } else { echo "Success" };

How to debug SSL handshake using cURL?

  1. For TLS handshake troubleshooting please use openssl s_client instead of curl.
  2. -msg does the trick!
  3. -debug helps to see what actually travels over the socket.
  4. -status OCSP stapling should be standard nowadays.
openssl s_client -connect example.com:443 -tls1_2 -status -msg -debug -CAfile <path to trusted root ca pem> -key <path to client private key pem> -cert <path to client cert pem>

Other useful switches -tlsextdebug -prexit -state

Can we call the function written in one JavaScript in another JS file?

The answer above has an incorrect assumption that the order of inclusion of the files matter. As the alertNumber function is not called until the alertOne function is called. As long as both files are included by time alertOne is called the order of the files does not matter:

[HTML]

<script type="text/javascript" src="file1.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="file2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
    alertOne( );
</script>

[JS]

// File1.js
function alertNumber( n ) {
    alert( n );
};
// File2.js
function alertOne( ) {
    alertNumber( "one" );
};
// Inline
alertOne( ); // No errors

Or it can be ordered like the following:

[HTML]

<script type="text/javascript" src="file2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="file1.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
    alertOne( );
</script>

[JS]

// File2.js
function alertOne( ) {
    alertNumber( "one" );
};
// File1.js
function alertNumber( n ) {
    alert( n );
};
// Inline
alertOne( ); // No errors

But if you were to do this:

[HTML]

<script type="text/javascript" src="file2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
    alertOne( );
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="file1.js"></script>

[JS]

// File2.js
function alertOne( ) {
    alertNumber( "one" );
};
// Inline
alertOne( ); // Error: alertNumber is not defined
// File1.js
function alertNumber( n ) {
    alert( n );
};

It only matters about the variables and functions being available at the time of execution. When a function is defined it does not execute or resolve any of the variables declared within until that function is then subsequently called.

Inclusion of different script files is no different from the script being in that order within the same file, with the exception of deferred scripts:

<script type="text/javascript" src="myscript.js" defer="defer"></script>

then you need to be careful.

How to set HTML Auto Indent format on Sublime Text 3?

This is an adaptation of the above answer, but should be more complete.

To be clear, this is to re-introduce previous auto-indent features when HTML files are open in Sublime Text. So when you finish a tag, it automatically indents for the next element.

Entity Framework - Include Multiple Levels of Properties

For EF 6

using System.Data.Entity;

query.Include(x => x.Collection.Select(y => y.Property))

Make sure to add using System.Data.Entity; to get the version of Include that takes in a lambda.

For EF Core

Use the new method ThenInclude

query.Include(x => x.Collection)
     .ThenInclude(x => x.Property);

Checkbox Check Event Listener

If you have a checkbox in your html something like:

<input id="conducted" type = "checkbox" name="party" value="0">

and you want to add an EventListener to this checkbox using javascript, in your associated js file, you can do as follows:

checkbox = document.getElementById('conducted');

checkbox.addEventListener('change', e => {

    if(e.target.checked){
        //do something
    }

});

jQuery find events handlers registered with an object

Another way to do it is to just use jQuery to grab the element, then go through actual Javascript to get and set and play with the event handlers. For instance:

var oldEventHandler = $('#element')[0].onclick;
// Remove event handler
$('#element')[0].onclick = null;
// Switch it back
$('#element')[0].onclick = oldEventHandler;

List files ONLY in the current directory

You can use os.listdir for this purpose. If you only want files and not directories, you can filter the results using os.path.isfile.

example:

files = os.listdir(os.curdir)  #files and directories

or

files = filter(os.path.isfile, os.listdir( os.curdir ) )  # files only
files = [ f for f in os.listdir( os.curdir ) if os.path.isfile(f) ] #list comprehension version.

How to call getClass() from a static method in Java?

I had the same problem ! but to solve it just modify your code as following.

public static void startMusic() {
URL songPath = YouClassName.class.getClassLoader().getResource("background.midi");
}

this worked fine with me hope it will also work fine with you.

Single line sftp from terminal

To UPLOAD a single file, you will need to create a bash script. Something like the following should work on OS X if you have sshpass installed.

Usage:

sftpx <password> <user@hostname> <localfile> <remotefile>

Put this script somewhere in your path and call it sftpx:

#!/bin/bash

export RND=`cat /dev/urandom | env LC_CTYPE=C tr -cd 'a-f0-9' | head -c 32`
export TMPDIR=/tmp/$RND
export FILENAME=$(basename "$4")
export DSTDIR=$(dirname "$4")

mkdir $TMPDIR
cp "$3" $TMPDIR/$FILENAME

export SSHPASS=$1
sshpass -e sftp -oBatchMode=no -b - $2 << !
   lcd $TMPDIR
   cd $DSTDIR
   put $FILENAME
   bye
!

rm $TMPDIR/$FILENAME
rmdir $TMPDIR

Removing numbers from string

I'd love to use regex to accomplish this, but since you can only use lists, loops, functions, etc..

here's what I came up with:

stringWithNumbers="I have 10 bananas for my 5 monkeys!"
stringWithoutNumbers=''.join(c if c not in map(str,range(0,10)) else "" for c in stringWithNumbers)
print(stringWithoutNumbers) #I have bananas for my monkeys!

How do I run a file on localhost?

Localhost is the computer you're using right now. You run things by typing commands at the command prompt and pressing Enter. If you're asking how to run things from your programming environment, then the answer depends on which environment you're using. Most languages have commands with names like system or exec for running external programs. You need to be more specific about what you're actually looking to do, and what obstacles you've encountered while trying to achieve it.

Angular 2: Passing Data to Routes?

It changes in angular 2.1.0

In something.module.ts

import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';
import { CommonModule } from '@angular/common';
import { BlogComponent } from './blog.component';
import { AddComponent } from './add/add.component';
import { EditComponent } from './edit/edit.component';
import { RouterModule } from '@angular/router';
import { MaterialModule } from '@angular/material';
import { FormsModule } from '@angular/forms';
const routes = [
  {
    path: '',
    component: BlogComponent
  },
  {
    path: 'add',
    component: AddComponent
  },
  {
    path: 'edit/:id',
    component: EditComponent,
    data: {
      type: 'edit'
    }
  }

];
@NgModule({
  imports: [
    CommonModule,
    RouterModule.forChild(routes),
    MaterialModule.forRoot(),
    FormsModule
  ],
  declarations: [BlogComponent, EditComponent, AddComponent]
})
export class BlogModule { }

To get the data or params in edit component

import { Component, OnInit } from '@angular/core';
import { Router, ActivatedRoute, Params, Data } from '@angular/router';
@Component({
  selector: 'app-edit',
  templateUrl: './edit.component.html',
  styleUrls: ['./edit.component.css']
})
export class EditComponent implements OnInit {
  constructor(
    private route: ActivatedRoute,
    private router: Router

  ) { }
  ngOnInit() {

    this.route.snapshot.params['id'];
    this.route.snapshot.data['type'];

  }
}

I would like to see a hash_map example in C++

The name accepted into TR1 (and the draft for the next standard) is std::unordered_map, so if you have that available, it's probably the one you want to use.

Other than that, using it is a lot like using std::map, with the proviso that when/if you traverse the items in an std::map, they come out in the order specified by operator<, but for an unordered_map, the order is generally meaningless.

.prop('checked',false) or .removeAttr('checked')?

jQuery 3

As of jQuery 3, removeAttr does not set the corresponding property to false anymore:

Prior to jQuery 3.0, using .removeAttr() on a boolean attribute such as checked, selected, or readonly would also set the corresponding named property to false. This behavior was required for ancient versions of Internet Explorer but is not correct for modern browsers because the attribute represents the initial value and the property represents the current (dynamic) value.

It is almost always a mistake to use .removeAttr( "checked" ) on a DOM element. The only time it might be useful is if the DOM is later going to be serialized back to an HTML string. In all other cases, .prop( "checked", false ) should be used instead.

Changelog

Hence only .prop('checked',false) is correct way when using this version.

Original answer (from 2011):

For attributes which have underlying boolean properties (of which checked is one), removeAttr automatically sets the underlying property to false. (Note that this is among the backwards-compatibility "fixes" added in jQuery 1.6.1).

So, either will work... but the second example you gave (using prop) is the more correct of the two. If your goal is to uncheck the checkbox, you really do want to affect the property, not the attribute, and there's no need to go through removeAttr to do that.

What are all the uses of an underscore in Scala?

There is a specific example that "_" be used:

  type StringMatcher = String => (String => Boolean)

  def starts: StringMatcher = (prefix:String) => _ startsWith prefix

may be equal to :

  def starts: StringMatcher = (prefix:String) => (s)=>s startsWith prefix

Applying “_” in some scenarios will automatically convert to “(x$n) => x$n ”

Java: Check if command line arguments are null

if i want to check if any speicfic position of command line arguement is passed or not then how to check? like for example in some scenarios 2 command line args will be passed and in some only one will be passed then how do it check wheather the specfic commnad line is passed or not?

public class check {

public static void main(String[] args) {
if(args[0].length()!=0)
{
System.out.println("entered first if");
}
if(args[0].length()!=0 && args[1].length()!=0)
{
System.out.println("entered second if");
}
}
}

So in the above code if args[1] is not passed then i get java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException:

so how do i tackle this where i can check if second arguement is passed or not and if passed then enter it. need assistance asap.

Delete/Reset all entries in Core Data?

Updated Solution for iOS 10+

Use NSBatchDeleteRequest to delete all objects in the entity without having to load them into memory or iterate through them.

// create the delete request for the specified entity
let fetchRequest: NSFetchRequest<NSFetchRequestResult> = MyEntity.fetchRequest()
let deleteRequest = NSBatchDeleteRequest(fetchRequest: fetchRequest)

// get reference to the persistent container
let persistentContainer = (UIApplication.shared.delegate as! AppDelegate).persistentContainer

// perform the delete
do {
    try persistentContainer.viewContext.execute(deleteRequest)
} catch let error as NSError {
    print(error)
}

This code has been updated for iOS 10 and Swift 3. If you need to support iOS 9, see this question.

How to re-render flatlist?

after lots of searching and looking for real answer finally i got the answer which i think it is the best :

       <FlatList
      data={this.state.data}
      renderItem={this.renderItem}
      ListHeaderComponent={this.renderHeader}
      ListFooterComponent={this.renderFooter}
      ItemSeparatorComponent={this.renderSeparator}
      refreshing={this.state.refreshing}
      onRefresh={this.handleRefresh}
      onEndReached={this.handleLoadMore}
      onEndReachedThreshold={1}
      extraData={this.state.data}
      removeClippedSubviews={true}
      **keyExtractor={ (item, index) => index }**
              />
    .....

my main problem was (KeyExtractor) i was not using it like this . not working : keyExtractor={ (item) => item.ID} after i changed to this it worked like charm i hope this helps someone.

How can I get the current stack trace in Java?

StackTraceElement[] stackTraceElements = Thread.currentThread().getStackTrace();

The last element of the array represents the bottom of the stack, which is the least recent method invocation in the sequence.

A StackTraceElement has getClassName(), getFileName(), getLineNumber() and getMethodName().

loop through StackTraceElement and get your desired result.

for (StackTraceElement ste : stackTraceElements )
{
    //do your stuff here...
}

Image change every 30 seconds - loop

You should take a look at various javascript libraries, they should be able to help you out:

All of them have tutorials, and fade in/fade out is a basic usage.

For e.g. in jQuery:

var $img = $("img"), i = 0, speed = 200;
window.setInterval(function() {
  $img.fadeOut(speed, function() {
    $img.attr("src", images[(++i % images.length)]);
    $img.fadeIn(speed);
  });
}, 30000);

How to get a function name as a string?

my_function.func_name

There are also other fun properties of functions. Type dir(func_name) to list them. func_name.func_code.co_code is the compiled function, stored as a string.

import dis
dis.dis(my_function)

will display the code in almost human readable format. :)

Add colorbar to existing axis

Couldn't add this as a comment, but in case anyone is interested in using the accepted answer with subplots, the divider should be formed on specific axes object (rather than on the numpy.ndarray returned from plt.subplots)

import numpy as np
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
from mpl_toolkits.axes_grid1 import make_axes_locatable
data = np.arange(100, 0, -1).reshape(10, 10)
fig, ax = plt.subplots(ncols=2, nrows=2)
for row in ax:
    for col in row:
        im = col.imshow(data, cmap='bone')
        divider = make_axes_locatable(col)
        cax = divider.append_axes('right', size='5%', pad=0.05)
        fig.colorbar(im, cax=cax, orientation='vertical')
plt.show()

Are PDO prepared statements sufficient to prevent SQL injection?

Prepared statements / parameterized queries are generally sufficient to prevent 1st order injection on that statement*. If you use un-checked dynamic sql anywhere else in your application you are still vulnerable to 2nd order injection.

2nd order injection means data has been cycled through the database once before being included in a query, and is much harder to pull off. AFAIK, you almost never see real engineered 2nd order attacks, as it is usually easier for attackers to social-engineer their way in, but you sometimes have 2nd order bugs crop up because of extra benign ' characters or similar.

You can accomplish a 2nd order injection attack when you can cause a value to be stored in a database that is later used as a literal in a query. As an example, let's say you enter the following information as your new username when creating an account on a web site (assuming MySQL DB for this question):

' + (SELECT UserName + '_' + Password FROM Users LIMIT 1) + '

If there are no other restrictions on the username, a prepared statement would still make sure that the above embedded query doesn't execute at the time of insert, and store the value correctly in the database. However, imagine that later the application retrieves your username from the database, and uses string concatenation to include that value a new query. You might get to see someone else's password. Since the first few names in users table tend to be admins, you may have also just given away the farm. (Also note: this is one more reason not to store passwords in plain text!)

We see, then, that prepared statements are enough for a single query, but by themselves they are not sufficient to protect against sql injection attacks throughout an entire application, because they lack a mechanism to enforce all access to a database within an application uses safe code. However, used as part of good application design — which may include practices such as code review or static analysis, or use of an ORM, data layer, or service layer that limits dynamic sql — prepared statements are the primary tool for solving the Sql Injection problem. If you follow good application design principles, such that your data access is separated from the rest of your program, it becomes easy to enforce or audit that every query correctly uses parameterization. In this case, sql injection (both first and second order) is completely prevented.

*It turns out that MySql/PHP are (okay, were) just dumb about handling parameters when wide characters are involved, and there is still a rare case outlined in the other highly-voted answer here that can allow injection to slip through a parameterized query.

How to execute logic on Optional if not present?

With Java 9 or higher, ifPresentOrElse is most likely what you want:

Optional<> opt = dao.find();

opt.ifPresentOrElse(obj -> obj.setAvailable(true),
                    () -> logger.error("…"));

Currying using vavr or alike might get even neater code, but I haven't tried yet.

How to convert a string to lower case in Bash?

In spite of how old this question is and similar to this answer by technosaurus. I had a hard time finding a solution that was portable across most platforms (That I Use) as well as older versions of bash. I have also been frustrated with arrays, functions and use of prints, echos and temporary files to retrieve trivial variables. This works very well for me so far I thought I would share. My main testing environments are:

  1. GNU bash, version 4.1.2(1)-release (x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu)
  2. GNU bash, version 3.2.57(1)-release (sparc-sun-solaris2.10)
lcs="abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"
ucs="ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"
input="Change Me To All Capitals"
for (( i=0; i<"${#input}"; i++ )) ; do :
    for (( j=0; j<"${#lcs}"; j++ )) ; do :
        if [[ "${input:$i:1}" == "${lcs:$j:1}" ]] ; then
            input="${input/${input:$i:1}/${ucs:$j:1}}"
        fi
    done
done

Simple C-style for loop to iterate through the strings. For the line below if you have not seen anything like this before this is where I learned this. In this case the line checks if the char ${input:$i:1} (lower case) exists in input and if so replaces it with the given char ${ucs:$j:1} (upper case) and stores it back into input.

input="${input/${input:$i:1}/${ucs:$j:1}}"

Is there an equivalent to background-size: cover and contain for image elements?

How do I bind the enter key to a function in tkinter?

Try running the following program. You just have to be sure your window has the focus when you hit Return--to ensure that it does, first click the button a couple of times until you see some output, then without clicking anywhere else hit Return.

import tkinter as tk

root = tk.Tk()
root.geometry("300x200")

def func(event):
    print("You hit return.")
root.bind('<Return>', func)

def onclick():
    print("You clicked the button")

button = tk.Button(root, text="click me", command=onclick)
button.pack()

root.mainloop()

Then you just have tweak things a little when making both the button click and hitting Return call the same function--because the command function needs to be a function that takes no arguments, whereas the bind function needs to be a function that takes one argument(the event object):

import tkinter as tk

root = tk.Tk()
root.geometry("300x200")

def func(event):
    print("You hit return.")

def onclick(event=None):
    print("You clicked the button")

root.bind('<Return>', onclick)

button = tk.Button(root, text="click me", command=onclick)
button.pack()

root.mainloop()

Or, you can just forgo using the button's command argument and instead use bind() to attach the onclick function to the button, which means the function needs to take one argument--just like with Return:

import tkinter as tk

root = tk.Tk()
root.geometry("300x200")

def func(event):
    print("You hit return.")

def onclick(event):
    print("You clicked the button")

root.bind('<Return>', onclick)

button = tk.Button(root, text="click me")
button.bind('<Button-1>', onclick)
button.pack()

root.mainloop()

Here it is in a class setting:

import tkinter as tk

class Application(tk.Frame):
    def __init__(self):
        self.root = tk.Tk()
        self.root.geometry("300x200")

        tk.Frame.__init__(self, self.root)
        self.create_widgets()

    def create_widgets(self):
        self.root.bind('<Return>', self.parse)
        self.grid()

        self.submit = tk.Button(self, text="Submit")
        self.submit.bind('<Button-1>', self.parse)
        self.submit.grid()

    def parse(self, event):
        print("You clicked?")

    def start(self):
        self.root.mainloop()

Application().start()

Iterating through all nodes in XML file

You can use XmlDocument. Also some XPath can be useful.

Just a simple example

XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
doc.Load("sample.xml");
XmlElement root = doc.DocumentElement;
XmlNodeList nodes = root.SelectNodes("some_node"); // You can also use XPath here
foreach (XmlNode node in nodes)
{
   // use node variable here for your beeds
}

Powershell equivalent of bash ampersand (&) for forking/running background processes

From PowerShell Core 6.0 you are able to write & at end of command and it will be equivalent to running you pipeline in background in current working directory.

It's not equivalent to & in bash, it's just a nicer syntax for current PowerShell jobs feature. It returns a job object so you can use all other command that you would use for jobs. For example Receive-Job:

If you want to execute couple of statements in background you can combine & call operator, { } script block and this new & background operator like here:

& { cd .\SomeDir\; .\SomeLongRunningOperation.bat; cd ..; } &

Here's some more info from documentation pages:

from What's New in PowerShell Core 6.0:

Support backgrounding of pipelines with ampersand (&) (#3360)

Putting & at the end of a pipeline causes the pipeline to be run as a PowerShell job. When a pipeline is backgrounded, a job object is returned. Once the pipeline is running as a job, all of the standard *-Job cmdlets can be used to manage the job. Variables (ignoring process-specific variables) used in the pipeline are automatically copied to the job so Copy-Item $foo $bar & just works. The job is also run in the current directory instead of the user's home directory. For more information about PowerShell jobs, see about_Jobs.

from about_operators / Ampersand background operator &:

Ampersand background operator &

Runs the pipeline before it in a PowerShell job. The ampersand background operator acts similarly to the UNIX "ampersand operator" which famously runs the command before it as a background process. The ampersand background operator is built on top of PowerShell jobs so it shares a lot of functionality with Start-Job. The following command contains basic usage of the ampersand background operator.

Get-Process -Name pwsh &

This is functionally equivalent to the following usage of Start-Job.

Start-Job -ScriptBlock {Get-Process -Name pwsh}

Since it's functionally equivalent to using Start-Job, the ampersand background operator returns a Job object just like Start-Job does. This means that you are able to use Receive-Job and Remove-Job just as you would if you had used Start-Job to start the job.

$job = Get-Process -Name pwsh &
Receive-Job $job

Output

NPM(K)    PM(M)      WS(M)     CPU(s)      Id  SI ProcessName
------    -----      -----     ------      --  -- -----------
    0     0.00     221.16      25.90    6988 988 pwsh
    0     0.00     140.12      29.87   14845 845 pwsh
    0     0.00      85.51       0.91   19639 988 pwsh

$job = Get-Process -Name pwsh &
Remove-Job $job

I hope this will give you the idea.

how do I get eclipse to use a different compiler version for Java?

Just to clarify, do you have JAVA_HOME set as a system variable or set in Eclipse classpath variables? I'm pretty sure (but not totally sure!) that the system variable is used by the command line compiler (and Ant), but that Eclipse modifies this accroding to the JDK used

"Full screen" <iframe>

Try adding the following attribute:

scrolling="no"

Accessing a matrix element in the "Mat" object (not the CvMat object) in OpenCV C++

The ideas provided above are good. For fast access (in case you would like to make a real time application) you could try the following:

//suppose you read an image from a file that is gray scale
Mat image = imread("Your path", CV_8UC1);
//...do some processing
uint8_t *myData = image.data;
int width = image.cols;
int height = image.rows;
int _stride = image.step;//in case cols != strides
for(int i = 0; i < height; i++)
{
    for(int j = 0; j < width; j++)
    {
        uint8_t val = myData[ i * _stride + j];
        //do whatever you want with your value
    }
}

Pointer access is much faster than the Mat.at<> accessing. Hope it helps!

Initializing default values in a struct

An explicit default initialization can help:

struct foo {
    bool a {};
    bool b {};
    bool c {};
 } bar;

Behavior bool a {} is same as bool b = bool(); and return false.

How to read a configuration file in Java

It depends.

Start with Basic I/O, take a look at Properties, take a look at Preferences API and maybe even Java API for XML Processing and Java Architecture for XML Binding

And if none of those meet your particular needs, you could even look at using some kind of Database

Copy table from one database to another

SELECT ... INTO :

select * into <destination table> from <source table>

How does Java handle integer underflows and overflows and how would you check for it?

If it overflows, it goes back to the minimum value and continues from there. If it underflows, it goes back to the maximum value and continues from there.

You can check that beforehand as follows:

public static boolean willAdditionOverflow(int left, int right) {
    if (right < 0 && right != Integer.MIN_VALUE) {
        return willSubtractionOverflow(left, -right);
    } else {
        return (~(left ^ right) & (left ^ (left + right))) < 0;
    }
}

public static boolean willSubtractionOverflow(int left, int right) {
    if (right < 0) {
        return willAdditionOverflow(left, -right);
    } else {
        return ((left ^ right) & (left ^ (left - right))) < 0;
    }
}

(you can substitute int by long to perform the same checks for long)

If you think that this may occur more than often, then consider using a datatype or object which can store larger values, e.g. long or maybe java.math.BigInteger. The last one doesn't overflow, practically, the available JVM memory is the limit.

If you happen to be on Java8 already, then you can make use of the new Math#addExact() and Math#subtractExact() methods which will throw an ArithmeticException on overflow.

public static boolean willAdditionOverflow(int left, int right) {
    try {
        Math.addExact(left, right);
        return false;
    } catch (ArithmeticException e) {
        return true;
    }
}

public static boolean willSubtractionOverflow(int left, int right) {
    try {
        Math.subtractExact(left, right);
        return false;
    } catch (ArithmeticException e) {
        return true;
    }
}

The source code can be found here and here respectively.

Of course, you could also just use them right away instead of hiding them in a boolean utility method.

AngularJS ng-repeat handle empty list case

You can use as keyword to refer a collection under a ng-repeat element:

<table>
    <tr ng-repeat="task in tasks | filter:category | filter:query as res">
        <td>{{task.id}}</td>
        <td>{{task.description}}</td>
    </tr>
    <tr ng-if="res.length === 0">
        <td colspan="2">no results</td>
    </tr>
</table>

No compiler is provided in this environment. Perhaps you are running on a JRE rather than a JDK?

My answer pertains to the Eclipse in Windows environment.

I went to Preferences --> Java --> Installed JREs I did NOT see the JDK in here. I only saw the JRE here. So I added the JDK and then unchecked the JRE. Then checked JDK. Then I ran the POM file using Run Configurations. Choose the tab JRE and select the option "Workspace Default..." Here are the images

Regular expression that doesn't contain certain string

By the power of Google I found a blogpost from 2007 which gives the following regex that matches string which don't contains a certain substring:

^((?!my string).)*$

It works as follows: it looks for zero or more (*) characters (.) which do not begin (?! - negative lookahead) your string and it stipulates that the entire string must be made up of such characters (by using the ^ and $ anchors). Or to put it an other way:

The entire string must be made up of characters which do not begin a given string, which means that the string doesn't contain the given substring.

How do I read text from the clipboard?

You can use the module called win32clipboard, which is part of pywin32.

Here is an example that first sets the clipboard data then gets it:

import win32clipboard

# set clipboard data
win32clipboard.OpenClipboard()
win32clipboard.EmptyClipboard()
win32clipboard.SetClipboardText('testing 123')
win32clipboard.CloseClipboard()

# get clipboard data
win32clipboard.OpenClipboard()
data = win32clipboard.GetClipboardData()
win32clipboard.CloseClipboard()
print data

An important reminder from the documentation:

When the window has finished examining or changing the clipboard, close the clipboard by calling CloseClipboard. This enables other windows to access the clipboard. Do not place an object on the clipboard after calling CloseClipboard.

What is the best way to use a HashMap in C++?

Here's a more complete and flexible example that doesn't omit necessary includes to generate compilation errors:

#include <iostream>
#include <unordered_map>

class Hashtable {
    std::unordered_map<const void *, const void *> htmap;

public:
    void put(const void *key, const void *value) {
            htmap[key] = value;
    }

    const void *get(const void *key) {
            return htmap[key];
    }

};

int main() {
    Hashtable ht;
    ht.put("Bob", "Dylan");
    int one = 1;
    ht.put("one", &one);
    std::cout << (char *)ht.get("Bob") << "; " << *(int *)ht.get("one");
}

Still not particularly useful for keys, unless they are predefined as pointers, because a matching value won't do! (However, since I normally use strings for keys, substituting "string" for "const void *" in the declaration of the key should resolve this problem.)

No module named _sqlite3

I had the same problem with Python 3.5 on Ubuntu while using pyenv.

If you're installing the python using pyenv, it's listed as one of the common build problems. To solve it, remove the installed python version, install the requirements (for this particular case libsqlite3-dev), then reinstall the python version.

How can I select and upload multiple files with HTML and PHP, using HTTP POST?

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) (Mysql::Error)

I faced the same error after upgrading MySQL server from 5.1.73 to 5.5.45 There is another way to fix that error.

In my case I was able to connect to MySQL using root password but MySQL actively refused to GRANT PRIVILEGES to any user;

  1. Connect to MySQL as root

    mysql -u root -p

    then enter your MySQL root password;

  2. Select database;

    use mysql;

  3. Most probably there is only one record for root in mysql.user table allowing to connect only from localhost (that was in my case) but by the default there should be two records for root, one for localhost and another one for 127.0.0.1;

  4. Create additional record for root user with Host='127.0.0.1' if it's not there;

        SET @s = CONCAT('INSERT INTO mysql.user SELECT ',
                REPLACE((SELECT GROUP_CONCAT(COLUMN_NAME)
                         FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
                         WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'user' AND TABLE_SCHEMA = 'mysql')
                ,"Host","'127.0.0.1'"),
                ' FROM mysql.user WHERE User="root"');

         PREPARE stmt FROM @s;
         EXECUTE stmt;

  5. Additionally to that you can execute mysql_upgrade -u -p to see if everything is ok.

How to parse a String containing XML in Java and retrieve the value of the root node?

There is doing XML reading right, or doing the dodgy just to get by. Doing it right would be using proper document parsing.

Or... dodgy would be using custom text parsing with either wisuzu's response or using regular expressions with matchers.

Install tkinter for Python

If you're using Python 3 then you must install as follows:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python3-tk

Tkinter for Python 2 (python-tk) is different from Python 3's (python3-tk).

Set CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS options using CMake

You must change the cmake C/CXX default FLAGS .

According to CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE={DEBUG/MINSIZEREL/RELWITHDEBINFO/RELEASE} put in the main CMakeLists.txt one of :

For C

set(CMAKE_C_FLAGS_DEBUG "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_C_FLAGS_MINSIZEREL "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_C_FLAGS_RELWITHDEBINFO "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_C_FLAGS_RELEASE "put your flags")

For C++

set(CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_DEBUG "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_MINSIZEREL "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_RELWITHDEBINFO "put your flags")
set(CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_RELEASE "put your flags")

This will override the values defined in CMakeCache.txt

Reverting to a specific commit based on commit id with Git?

Do you want to roll back your repo to that state, or you just want your local repo to look like that?

If you reset --hard, it will make your local code and local history be just like it was at that commit. But if you wanted to push this to someone else who has the new history, it would fail:

git reset --hard c14809fa

And if you reset --soft, it will move your HEAD to where they were , but leave your local files etc. the same:

git reset --soft c14809fa

So what exactly do you want to do with this reset?

Edit -

You can add "tags" to your repo.. and then go back to a tag. But a tag is really just a shortcut to the sha1.

You can tag this as TAG1.. then a git reset --soft c14809fa, git reset --soft TAG1, or git reset --soft c14809fafb08b9e96ff2879999ba8c807d10fb07 would all do the same thing.

iPhone Navigation Bar Title text color

Swift Version

I found most of you guys presented the answers of Objective_C version

I would like to implement this function by using Swift for anyone who needs it.

In ViewDidload

1.To make NavigationBar background becomes color (for example: BLUE)

self.navigationController?.navigationBar.barTintColor = UIColor.blueColor()

2.To make NavigationBar background becomes Image (for example : ABC.png)

let barMetrix = UIBarMetrics(rawValue: 0)!

self.navigationController?.navigationBar
      .setBackgroundImage(UIImage(named: "ABC"), forBarMetrics: barMetrix)

3.To change NavigationBar title (for example :[Font:Futura,10] [Color:Red])

navigationController?.navigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [
            NSForegroundColorAttributeName : UIColor.redColor(),
            NSFontAttributeName : UIFont(name: "Futura", size: 10)!
        ]

(hint1: don't forget the "!" mark after the UIFont)

(hint2: there are lots of attributes of the title text, command click the "NSFontAttributeName" you can enter the class and view keyNames and the Objects types they required)

I hope I can help!:D

jQuery change method on input type="file"

I could not get IE8+ to work by adding a jQuery event handler to the file input type. I had to go old-school and add the the onchange="" attribute to the input tag:

<input type='file' onchange='getFilename(this)'/>

function getFileName(elm) {
   var fn = $(elm).val();
   ....
}

EDIT:

function getFileName(elm) {
   var fn = $(elm).val();
   var filename = fn.match(/[^\\/]*$/)[0]; // remove C:\fakename
   alert(filename);
}

use further as

rs.getString(1);
rs.getInt(2);

1, 2 is the column number of table and set int or string as per data-type of coloumn

storing user input in array

You have at least these 3 issues:

  1. you are not getting the element's value properly
  2. The div that you are trying to use to display whether the values have been saved or not has id display yet in your javascript you attempt to get element myDiv which is not even defined in your markup.
  3. Never name variables with reserved keywords in javascript. using "string" as a variable name is NOT a good thing to do on most of the languages I can think of. I renamed your string variable to "content" instead. See below.

You can save all three values at once by doing:

var title=new Array();
var names=new Array();//renamed to names -added an S-
                      //to avoid conflicts with the input named "name"
var tickets=new Array();

function insert(){
    var titleValue = document.getElementById('title').value;
    var actorValue = document.getElementById('name').value;
    var ticketsValue = document.getElementById('tickets').value;
    title[title.length]=titleValue;
    names[names.length]=actorValue;
    tickets[tickets.length]=ticketsValue;
  }

And then change the show function to:

function show() {
  var content="<b>All Elements of the Arrays :</b><br>";
  for(var i = 0; i < title.length; i++) {
     content +=title[i]+"<br>";
  }
  for(var i = 0; i < names.length; i++) {
     content +=names[i]+"<br>";
  }
  for(var i = 0; i < tickets.length; i++) {
     content +=tickets[i]+"<br>";
  }
  document.getElementById('display').innerHTML = content; //note that I changed
                                                    //to 'display' because that's
                                              //what you have in your markup
}

Here's a jsfiddle for you to play around.

Is there any way to debug chrome in any IOS device

Old Answer (July 2016):

You can't directly debug Chrome for iOS due to restrictions on the published WKWebView apps, but there are a few options already discussed in other SO threads:

  1. If you can reproduce the issue in Safari as well, then use Remote Debugging with Safari Web Inspector. This would be the easiest approach.

  2. WeInRe allows some simple debugging, using a simple client-server model. It's not fully featured, but it may well be enough for your problem. See instructions on set up here.

  3. You could try and create a simple WKWebView browser app (some instructions here), or look for an existing one on GitHub. Since Chrome uses the same rendering engine, you could debug using that, as it will be close to what Chrome produces.

There's a "bug" opened up for WebKit: Allow Web Inspector usage for release builds of WKWebView. If and when we get an API to WKWebView, Chrome for iOS would be debuggable.

Update January 2018:

Since my answer back in 2016, some work has been done to improve things.

There is a recent project called RemoteDebug iOS WebKit Adapter, by some of the Microsoft team. It's an adapter that handles the API differences between Webkit Remote Debugging Protocol and Chrome Debugging Protocol, and this allows you to debug iOS WebViews in any app that supports the protocol - Chrome DevTools, VS Code etc.

Check out the getting started guide in the repo, which is quite detailed.

If you are interesting, you can read up on the background and architecture here.

JavaScript seconds to time string with format hh:mm:ss

If you know the number of seconds you have, this will work. It also uses the native Date() object.

function formattime(numberofseconds){
    var zero = '0', hours, minutes, seconds, time;

    time = new Date(0, 0, 0, 0, 0, numberofseconds, 0);

    hh = time.getHours();
    mm = time.getMinutes();
    ss = time.getSeconds()

    // Pad zero values to 00

MySQL 'create schema' and 'create database' - Is there any difference

Strictly speaking, the difference between Database and Schema is inexisting in MySql.

However, this is not the case in other database engines such as SQL Server. In SQL server:,

Every table belongs to a grouping of objects in the database called database schema. It's a container or namespace (Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012)

By default, all the tables in SQL Server belong to a default schema called dbo. When you query a table that hasn't been allocated to any particular schema, you can do something like:

SELECT *
FROM your_table

which is equivalent to:

SELECT *
FROM dbo.your_table

Now, SQL server allows the creation of different schema, which gives you the possibility of grouping tables that share a similar purpose. That helps to organize the database.

For example, you can create an schema called sales, with tables such as invoices, creditorders (and any other related with sales), and another schema called lookup, with tables such as countries, currencies, subscriptiontypes (and any other table used as look up table).

The tables that are allocated to a specific domain are displayed in SQL Server Studio Manager with the schema name prepended to the table name (exactly the same as the tables that belong to the default dbo schema).

There are special schemas in SQL Server. To quote the same book:

There are several built-in database schemas, and they can't be dropped or altered:

1) dbo, the default schema.

2) guest contains objects available to a guest user ("guest user" is a special role in SQL Server lingo, with some default and highly restricted permissions). Rarely used.

3) INFORMATION_SCHEMA, used by the Information Schema Views

4) sys, reserved for SQL Server internal use exclusively

Schemas are not only for grouping. It is actually possible to give different permissions for each schema to different users, as described MSDN.

Doing this way, the schema lookup mentioned above could be made available to any standard user in the database (e.g. SELECT permissions only), whereas a table called supplierbankaccountdetails may be allocated in a different schema called financial, and to give only access to the users in the group accounts (just an example, you get the idea).

Finally, and quoting the same book again:

It isn't the same Database Schema and Table Schema. The former is the namespace of a table, whereas the latter refers to the table definition

How to get value of selected radio button?

var rates = document.getElementById('rates').value;

The rates element is a div, so it won't have a value. This is probably where the undefined is coming from.

The checked property will tell you whether the element is selected:

if (document.getElementById('r1').checked) {
  rate_value = document.getElementById('r1').value;
}

notifyDataSetChanged example

I recently wrote on this topic, though this post it old, I thought it will be helpful to someone who wants to know how to implement BaseAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged() step by step and in a correct way.

Please follow How to correctly implement BaseAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged() in Android or the newer blog BaseAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged().

Parse JSON in JavaScript?

If you like

var response = '{"result":true,"count":1}';
var JsonObject= JSON.parse(response);

you can access the JSON elements by JsonObject with (.) dot:

JsonObject.result;
JsonObject.count;

How do you delete a column by name in data.table?

Any of the following will remove column foo from the data.table df3:

# Method 1 (and preferred as it takes 0.00s even on a 20GB data.table)
df3[,foo:=NULL]

df3[, c("foo","bar"):=NULL]  # remove two columns

myVar = "foo"
df3[, (myVar):=NULL]   # lookup myVar contents

# Method 2a -- A safe idiom for excluding (possibly multiple)
# columns matching a regex
df3[, grep("^foo$", colnames(df3)):=NULL]

# Method 2b -- An alternative to 2a, also "safe" in the sense described below
df3[, which(grepl("^foo$", colnames(df3))):=NULL]

data.table also supports the following syntax:

## Method 3 (could then assign to df3,
df3[, !"foo"]

though if you were actually wanting to remove column "foo" from df3 (as opposed to just printing a view of df3 minus column "foo") you'd really want to use Method 1 instead.

(Do note that if you use a method relying on grep() or grepl(), you need to set pattern="^foo$" rather than "foo", if you don't want columns with names like "fool" and "buffoon" (i.e. those containing foo as a substring) to also be matched and removed.)

Less safe options, fine for interactive use:

The next two idioms will also work -- if df3 contains a column matching "foo" -- but will fail in a probably-unexpected way if it does not. If, for instance, you use any of them to search for the non-existent column "bar", you'll end up with a zero-row data.table.

As a consequence, they are really best suited for interactive use where one might, e.g., want to display a data.table minus any columns with names containing the substring "foo". For programming purposes (or if you are wanting to actually remove the column(s) from df3 rather than from a copy of it), Methods 1, 2a, and 2b are really the best options.

# Method 4:
df3[, .SD, .SDcols = !patterns("^foo$")]

Lastly there are approaches using with=FALSE, though data.table is gradually moving away from using this argument so it's now discouraged where you can avoid it; showing here so you know the option exists in case you really do need it:

# Method 5a (like Method 3)
df3[, !"foo", with=FALSE]
# Method 5b (like Method 4)
df3[, !grep("^foo$", names(df3)), with=FALSE]
# Method 5b (another like Method 4)
df3[, !grepl("^foo$", names(df3)), with=FALSE]

Comparing two input values in a form validation with AngularJS

No need a function or a directive. Just compare their $modelValue from the view:

ng-show="formName.email.$modelValue !== formName.confirmEmail.$modelValue"

More detailed example:

<span ng-show="(formName.email.$modelValue !== formName.confirmEmail.$modelValue)
                && formName.confirmEmail.$touched
                && !formName.confirmEmail.$error.required">Email does not match.</span>

Please note that the ConfirmEmail is outside the ViewModel; it's property of the $scope. It doesn't need to be submitted.
